Key claims
Polymarket/Calshi-style betting “gamifies” real tragedies and life-or-death legal outcomes; Hirsch’s host-read endorsement is especially offensive because it profits from a murder trial involving three children. Hirsch’s apology is criticized as “half-assed” for not addressing money/what she’ll do with ad revenue. The hosts argue the ad was a deliberate choice, not an automated slip.
Notable examples
Hirsch’s deleted Polymarket post predicting “not guilty” and her later notes-app apology; comparisons to victim-focused true-crime ethics (Crime Junkie). They also recap Earl Meets World (Ashley Dupree, TJ, Alex/Ashton dynamics) and discuss The Valley cast rumors (Dani/Nia leaving; possible Sheena/Brock return).

1:17Hey everybody, welcome back to another episode of Dark Energy Tuesday. Another episode of Snarkbait. I'm Christy. I'm Sophie. How are you doing, Soph? How was the wedding? It was really fun. Yeah, I had a wedding in Chicago. It was a great time seeing some old pals. And now it is Monday, Labor Day, actually, September 7th. And I'm at my in-laws because they were watching Baxter for the weekend. And we are going back to the city tonight. Yeah, how was your Labor Day weekend? It was good. We had, I helped host three of my friends' joint birthday party. So it was a lot of like schlepping. It looked great.
2:05And it was, yeah, honestly, it like really came together. We did, the theme was called One Drop Older because all of them are turning various ages. And we made it lemon theme. And it was, it really turned out super well. We hired like a bartender, a photographer. It was like a really good production. And we had a great turnout. So that was really fun. And we had lemon flavored drinks. And I'm like, wait, should I go into event planning? Like, I wouldn't do the aesthetics. I would just be behind the scenes, you know? Logistics. Yeah. Exactly. You'd be good at that for sure. You're very, very, very organized.
2:44Thank you. Thank you. So yeah, no, it was a lot of fun. And now I am just happy to be here because I feel like we have a lot to talk about on our document today because there's just been a lot of things that have happened over the course of even the last three days. And I think we'll be remiss to not bring up the Amanda Hirsch, Not Skinny But Not Fat, Polly market ad regarding the Lindsay Kennedy trial that has recently resulted in a mistrial. And it's been a very, you know, it's been everywhere, this trial. And Amanda Hirsch definitely made a very grave error. And I want to hear your thoughts about it because you have a couple of bullet points here.
3:24Yeah, I was absolutely, we were talking about this in our group chat, and I was absolutely appalled by this. I feel like, first of all, just the concept of Polymarket and CalShe and like these apps that you can bet on anything, including wars, including murder trials. Like you are betting on people's lives. It is gamifying real life shit and also facilitating gambling addictions. That also. But like it is so it's it's literally Black Mirror. Like the fact that you can bet on people's lives is so dystopian to me. So for context, you guys, if you somehow I'll miss this. Amanda Hirsch, aka Not Skinny But Not Fat, very successful podcaster, influencer.
4:08She hosts a reality interview series on Hulu now. She did an ad for Polymarket. Her podcast is under Dear Media, and I guess Dear Media has a huge Polymarket partnership. So not only is it, you know, I think dark energy in general to partner with Polymarket. But this ad in question was after the Lindsay Clancy trial resulted in a mistrial, she did this ad where she went, so I actually thought it was going to be a not guilty verdict. The caption is, the judge declared a mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy trial on Polymarket. It was predicted that the verdict would be not guilty. Are you surprised? Hashtag polymarket partner.
4:59Just absolutely. You're talking about a murder trial where three children were killed. Three young children. It is absolutely despicable. So you're not only like you're gamifying something that is so tragic, but you're profiting from it like it is so appalling. And she posts that quickly deleted it. And also in the days leading up to this ad, I don't know, was she like teeing up this ad because she posted this long diatribe. Did you see this? Where she basically was like, we need to like just focus on the children here instead of, you know, we're talking about Lindsay Clancy. Basically, like people are starting GoFundMes for her and she's almost turning into a celebrity.
5:45Like, where is the focus on the children? So she posts this long diatribe and then post this fucking poly market ad. And so she quickly deleted it without any acknowledgement and then was posting per normal. And this was a Friday, I believe. And then it was posting about Earl Meets World and Lenwich lettuce wraps. And people were like, what the fuck are you doing? And then finally, she acknowledged it with a notes app apology, which I'll read. She said, posting about the Lindsay Clancy trial in the same breath as a brand partnership was completely insensitive, wrong, and out of character for me.
6:20I should have known better, and I feel sick that I didn't see that in the moment. As a mom, this case has really affected me. I've been following it so closely, talking about it constantly, and feeling heartbroken over every part of it. I became so consumed by the trial that I completely lost perspective and didn't stop to think about how grossly inappropriate it was to discuss something this tragic in that context. I made a terrible judgment call, and I feel so fucking awful about that. I know deleting it doesn't erase it. Believe me, I'm horrified by the choice I made, And please know this lapse in judgment does not represent who I am as a person.
6:49I'm so deeply sorry. I feel like this is such a half-assed apology. And also saying the, as a mom, it's like, as a mom, shouldn't you have felt more sensitivity towards this? The fact that there are three children that were killed? Like, it is just so fucking dystopian. Anyway, that's my rant about this. No, and I think most are agreeing with you. and I will say too, Amanda Hearst has had a pattern of behavior of just like, I don't even know if you want to call it putting your foot in your mouth, but I think she just said certain things. Like for instance, and take this with a grain of salt. I don't know.
7:24I haven't seen the receipt, but people always call her like a Sandy Hook denier. Have you seen those allegations as well? I've seen that too. Like people call her Sandy Hook denier. I've never seen the actual like screenshots or anything. I believe it. I 100 % believe it. She, you know, has definitely had her moments. But this is not like, like, I feel like this so goes far beyond like a mistake or a lapse in judgment. Like this is like, how far gone do you have to be? Whether it's for money or, you know, you are so like in this true crime, like rabbit hole that you just, it is so dehumanizing.
8:03It's so just sociopathic. I just, it is completely, completely bizarre. And she is getting so much backlash for this, deservedly so. Sure. And, you know, we actually, this just comes into my mind because we did a Crime Junkie Patreon episode about the expose of Ashley Flowers. And there's a lot of controversy around Ashley Flowers and how she's managing her media empire that is Audiochuck. But I think one of the good things you can say about, quote unquote, true crime brain rot, good is relative. But essentially what I think Crime Junkie does a really good job of is trying to humanize a story, really focus on the victims.
8:41And also there's like a call to action usually in many of the episodes that they're unsolved. And I think that's what's really true crime brain rot and true crime podcast and watching true crime as if it's like we're watching Gladiator in like old time Italy or whatever. It does feel a little bit dark and wrong. It's dystopian. It's dystopian, right. And I think we lose sight of like this humanizing. And we're guilty of it too. We're guilty of it too, absolutely. Yeah. And you're so right that there, you know, you have to remember the human, you can't lose your humanity and the humanity of the victims.
9:17And I think also her apology was so not well received for a multitude of reasons. Again, it doesn't get down to the brunt of the issue, which is the fact that you are profiting from something that is gamifying a life or death situation, a trial involving three children. But she also had no like, what are you doing with the money you made from this ad? Are you going to donate it to a maternal mental health organization? Like, what are you doing with this money? Why is there no call to action? Where are you? Where are you donating? What are you actually going to do? Because this is just so disturbing on so many levels.
9:58It really makes me sick. And I'm curious what you guys, Baby Snarks, what you have thought about this. I feel like I probably know that most of you are probably as appalled as we are. Yeah, it's just it's so, so awful. I actually think it's a really good distinction that you're making of like, okay, in the apology, she says, I'm horrified by the choice I made. And please know this lapse in judgment does not represent who I am as a person. Okay, you take accountability. That's one piece of the puzzle. But to your point, it's a different story, too, when you're profiting. Like, acknowledge the money that you have garnered from that ad and what you're going to do with that money.
10:34I think that probably would have been a very critical piece of the apology that, unfortunately for her, she left out or just wasn't thinking about. Yeah. And also, like, we're obviously podcasters, OK, and like sometimes there are there are like automated ads that can fall through the cracks that, you know, like are the ones that are not host read can sometimes just slip through. Like we've had ones that were like, wait, what do you mean there was a gambling ad that was playing? And we flag that to our network and we're like, that is not on brand for us. Like we're not going to advertise casinos on our show or whatever it is.
11:09Any host read ad is something that the host endorses. endorses. So she is endorsing Polly Market. She is personally endorsing it. And the fact that she like read it, like it was like, I don't know, it's so creepy. It's so creepy. She was like, like the host read ad thing. And it's like, do you understand what you're saying? Like, it is absolutely fucking bizarre. Yeah. Creepy. Right. Right. I know. I feel like gambling ads are so I mean, we've said no to so many. And I feel like some of them could have been. Yeah. And we've also said no to host red ads where we're like, this is not on brand for us.
11:46This is not something that we would ever advertise. Right. Like, I'm trying to think of, you know, an example, maybe like weight loss. Yeah. Weight loss. It's like, no, we're not going to advertise that. Absolutely not. Right. And like, it's just so crazy that like some people just will say yes to anything, any brand, I guess. Yeah, we joke about two all the time. I'd do anything for, you know, a buck. But like genuinely, we use a lot of discretion when we select our advertisers. And we will say no to those that we don't. So she had the autonomy, especially at her level and her level of fame. You really didn't need to do this ad.
12:26And you still continue to do it, one, and made it in poor taste, to say the least. Like the bare minimum. Yeah. Polymarket and Kalshi, just in general, like are so fucking nefarious. Like it is so crazy that these are legal. Like this is legal in our country. You are peddling gambling addictions to people. Right. And it's trying to advertise also to women. It's like you can like gamble. You can bet on who's going to win Dancing with the Stars. Or you can bet on who is going to be the winner of the traders or whatever it is. It's like this is we don't need this in our lives. We don't need this.
13:06So it's not only you're peddling gambling addictions to the masses, but you're also, like I said, betting on people's lives. It is just so disgusting. I hate it. I hate this timeline that we're in. My question, too, is like, how did she not even realize this wasn't a good idea? Like, that's also. So because she's so like far gone in, you know, whether it's the money that was offered or she has completely lost touch with the fact that this is a real human being and these were real human beings and this is a real murder trial. Like it is just completely it goes so far beyond like, oh, I had a lapse in judgment.
13:47No, this is like a borderline unforgivable, in my opinion. Yeah. So anyway, that is our rant about Amanda Hirsch. I know that a lot of you guys were DMing us about this. So those are our thoughts. Curious what yours are. Okay, I need to talk about something that has become a genuine issue in my house. Hank has decided that everything I own is actually his. And more specifically, my Lola blanket. Like I'll get myself all set up on the couch, have my blanket, have Gilmore Girls playing, and I'm ready to fully rot for the evening. But within approximately 30 seconds, Hank's on top of me, pushing his way underneath the blanket and just taking over.
14:26And I get it, because the second you feel a Lola blanket, you understand why. It's so soft, like ridiculously soft. Lola makes their blankets with this ultra soft luxury faux fur, and there's a reason they have over 20 ,000 five-star reviews. It really is next level. So when I saw that Lola actually created a Lola pet collection, I was like, okay, finally, Hank can have his own. The Lola pet bed has that same signature ultra soft faux fur, but it's actually designed specifically for pets with an orthopedic foam base that supports their joints and helps them rest more comfortably. It's incredibly plush, holds its shape, and it's designed to help regulate temperature so your pet stays cozy around.
15:02And because this is a pet product and we all know what pets do to things, the cover is removable and machine washable. It's completely shed free and it has a durable double stitching so it's actually built to hold up. Essentially, your pet gets an insanely cozy bed and you finally get your Lola blanket back. And if you already have a Lola Blanket, you know what I'm talking about. And if you don't have one, this is your sign. I'm telling you, once you feel it, you're going to understand the obsession. 18:08Speaking of Earl Meets World, which we briefly mentioned, did you finish it? Oh, I finished it. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Let's talk about it. I started the first episode. That's all I had time for, unfortunately, this weekend. Yeah. But we'd love to hear your thoughts. Okay. So my initial thoughts, I have quite a few. Top level, it's very clear to me that they are trying to frame this as like the new keeping up with the Kardashians. but I think the difference between Earl Meets World and the Kardashians is that the Kardashians at the beginning truly was lightning in a bottle. There really was no precedent of like getting, I guess, maybe like the Osbournes perhaps, but like having this kind of blended family, someone who was an Olympian, Caitlyn Jenner was an Olympian, Kris Jenner was married to Robert Kardashian who represented OJ.
18:50Like there was just so many elements of this show and like so many generations that it was so, despite all the wealth that they had, they were somewhat relatable. And I think when I'm watching Earl Meets World, there's like a lack of relatability there. That's just like number one. Number two, this show, despite what Alex Earl says on her TikTok, she's like, oh, I don't want this to appear scripted. I don't want this to appear overly produced. I want this to be as real as it gets. I actually found the show to be incredibly produced. The storylines didn't necessarily seem fake, but they seemed very generated and produced for TV.
19:24So for instance, there's a story where Ash and Earl gets mad at her dad because she's like, my dad spends so much time on Alex's career. But when it comes to just making a Zoom meeting for 30 minutes, he'll bail like four minutes before. And it's like very isolating to feel like my career is like second fiddle to my dad when he should be giving in like the same effort, which like, although that's probably true, it just felt like the conversations and the storyline was really produced. Okay. Number one, Ashley Dupree. So TJ, Alex Earl's father's mistress, who he then married, she's such a fucking freak.
20:00Who also was the Elliot Spitzer mistress. Yes. And they talk at length about her place in this family and how difficult of a time she had when she first entered the family and how hard it was for specifically Ashton and Alex, understandably so. Because you have to remember, TJ cheated on their mother with Ashley. And he later left their mother for Ashley. And now Ashley and him share a bunch of kids together. And the kids are really sweet. But it's really, really cringe watching her because it's very clear, like, when she tries to communicate with Ashton and Alex, it's as if she's speaking a different language.
20:33Like, they're not hearing each other. And it's almost like Ashley feels a bit threatened by the fact that, like, Alex and Ashley are, like, the apple of their father's eye again because, like, he manages their career and they're also his children. Like, it seems like there's this power dynamic of, like, who's going to grab TJ's attention? Is it going to be the wife or is it going to be the girls? But there's this one specific scene where Ashley is talking to Ashton about dating and she keeps urging her, you need to go out and date. But no, you can just have fun and hook up. But no, you should be single for a while.
21:03And she waffles between like various sentiments all within like a three minute conversation with Ashton. And Ashton was like gently pushing back. She's like, why do you keep saying conflicting things? Like, why are you making me feel badly for like wanting to be single and like doing my own thing? but at the same breath, you're also telling me to like stay single, but then I should be in a relationship. Like it's just very clear that they're just not speaking the same language. And I just find her to be very odd. Like she's just an odd woman. I do want to say though, I appreciate the fact that she's not in a perfect situation either.
21:36She was only 23 when she met TJ. And for her to have like gone into this like crazy blended family, two young girls that like you hate you, put Nair in your shampoo. Like, it wasn't easy for her either. So I do empathize with like the experience that she had. And she's been able to like, keep it going. And they seem to have a pretty good relationship, her and TJ. But like, she's kind of a fucking freak. Okay. So that's my first thought. Number two, Alex and Ashton, they actually seem a lot more mature than their own parents on the show. And that's the vibe I got from like the first, I only watched like the first half of episode one.
22:12But I actually like when they were talking about how they have always had to lean on each other because their parents separated so young. So they felt like they only had each other. And they also just seem very like grounded, all things considered. But again, I barely watch the show. So no, that's I think that's an objectively correct sentiment. I felt that, you know, there was this moment where Alyssa, Alex and Ashton's mom acknowledges she's like, listen, it's not normal for me to like have this joint family where I'm sitting across the table from the woman that cheated with my husband and the woman who he left me for.
22:46It's not natural, but she's like, you know, over time when Ashley and TJ ended up having kids, I just started taking care of this woman's kids along with Alex and Ashton. And just by way of the children, it kind of brought us closer together. And while it's still not like, you know, sunshine and rainbows, it's a lot better than it was like five years ago. But so I think Alyssa is an incredibly strong woman. She's very sweet. She means so well. There was this one moment though in the show that I actually felt was not produced. Alex and Ashley, Alex had some brand trip like in Aspen or something.
23:20And she ended up inviting TJ and Ashley and she failed to invite her mom and her mom's boyfriend Todd. And there is a scene where the girls woke up, Alex and Ashley, and they received this text from Alyssa, their mom and she basically said something to the effect of like don't call me I'm not filming the show I don't want to talk to you guys like I'm pissed and they were just kind of like wait why is she pissed and they had to call her and like she completely shut down and it made me feel like Alex and Ashton were the emotionally mature people and Alyssa was the one that was like throwing a tantrum and I was just like oh wow I wonder if this is like a common dynamic where like Alex and Ashton constantly have to like rein their mother back in and be almost like the mother figure to their mom um it just seemed like a bit immature on Alyssa's side but I do think she's like a wonderful woman and another thing is like I don't envy the position that TJ is in because he's constantly having to measure and make happy his wife and his two daughters that don't always get along and there was this moment where I don't know if you remember this so if you remember the Super Bowl when Alex Earl was on the Bad Bunny stage dancing and she was like basically everyone on that stage was like Latinx or someone like person of color.
24:32And Alex Earl kind of stuck out like a sore thumb, like this blonde white girl dancing up on stage. And a lot of people kind of took issue with that. There was some pushback on Alex being there. And Alex addressed it on the show. And she was like, you know, people have no idea my political views, but they're basically like really upset that I was on stage and they felt like I was undeservingly on stage. and a couple days after the Super Bowl show, Ashley posts this TikTok saying, for all the haters, they don't know that my niece is half Guatemalan because like I think Ashley is half Guatemalan and kind of just like calling attention to like what Alex didn't want to be talked about.
Read the full transcript
25:08I thought that was really in poor taste of Ashley. I was like, why the fuck would you do that? Like - Wait, I don't get it because Ashley is her stepmom. Right, exactly. It has nothing like biologically, ethnically, Alex is zeal. 0 % Latin. So like, just because you're half Guatemalan, like way to make this about you. And it's also a controversy that Alex would prefer to shy away from, but now you're calling more attention to it. So Alex was understandably very upset. She kind of confronted her at this house showing that TJ, Ashley and Alex attended. And she was like, why would you do that when you knew that was going to hurt me?
25:41And Ashley told TJ behind the scenes, she was like, I didn't like the way Alex handled that. I thought she was yelling at me. I thought she was so disrespectful full of me. So TJ ends up calling Alex and telling her like, the way that you talk to people needs to be more respectful. But in my mind, I'm like, Alex, first of all, wasn't disrespectful. She wasn't raising her voice. TJ was like gaslighting her into thinking that she was raising her voice to ask you when we all saw the conversation. She did not do that. And then TJ proceeds to tell Alex, you know, because you're becoming this business owner, you're becoming more successful.
26:10I really advise you to take CEO management classes. And Alex is like to talk to my own family. Like, no, The way I'm talking to, like, my employees is not going to be the same way in which I'm having a conversation with Ashley about her very poor taste TikTok. I don't know. I just, I don't like it that, like, I get the position that TJ is in. It must be very difficult. But at the same time, like, take yourself out for a second. What Ashley did was wrong. Period. Regardless of whatever Alex's views are, if she doesn't want to talk about it, don't talk about it and call attention to it. Period. Right.
26:41Um, number three, I love Ashton, her younger sister, who apparently, did you see, is now dating Landon Berger, allegedly. No, I didn't see that. Yeah, they've been posting about each other on their Instagram stories. Ashton is, like, honestly so sweet. And I really, we always talk about being, like, how much we would love being a Nepo sister because, like, you can reap all the benefits. Yeah, I like how she literally, she literally calls herself a Nepo sister in the first episode. I'm like, okay, that's some good self-awareness. I love that. Yeah. And you can tell she's like, I don't have the same pizzazz or I'm not as extroverted or in your face as Alex.
27:15Like we're basically yin and yang. We're complete opposites. But I do understand the opportunities that she's provided me. And I'm very grateful for it. I want to lean into modeling. And I know that sounds vain, but I think I'd be really good at it. Like I love that she's trying to forge her own path. And she seems so earnest and sweet. And it's kind of shitty because it is clear that like Alex obviously is the favorite one right now in the family because she's so busy and she's so famous now. but I do feel for Ashton because I just feel like she's just trying to find her way and she's like young still in her early 20s so I'm just I'm really rooting for her yeah um the last thing I would need to talk about is obviously the Alex Cooper beef have you seen kind of what has been said on online have you seen like yeah that she she like had a text that she almost sent and it said I don't like you like Luke Goldberg said in Summer House yes I don't like you I'm like oh burn The COVID season.
28:07Yeah. Burn. Yeah. When I think like someone had to pull him back, like Hannah or something or Lindsay. Lindsay. Lindsay. Lindsay with her ROTC. No. Lindsay was holding back Kyle. He was talking to Kyle. Who knows? I don't remember. But. No, that's right. That's right. Yeah. That's that's all I've really seen of this. OK. So Alex Earl finally addresses the Cooper beef. And it's twofold, really. So the first part is she said that when she was signed to the Unwell Network, she was sold the dream that she felt like wasn't actually delivered. She looked up to Alex Cooper. She idolized her. And listen, like when Unwell signed Alex Earl, Alex Earl really did not need the Unwell network at this point in 2024.
28:44Like she was already or 2023. She was already famous in her own right. She had all the people thinking like I remember we thought it was weird. Like a lot of people thought it was weird. It's like, why are you signing with Unwell? You're like more famous at this point than Unwell or Alex Cooper. Yeah. And I think it was like never meet your idol. She was just glad to be in the room with Alex. And that's the reason she signed it. So actually the reason the business relationship kind of dissolved was actually, I feel like, completely valid on Alex's side. So she felt like she was taken advantage by a person in the industry that she respected, that she thought would be a mentor, that she thought was kind of like her big sister.
29:16And she said that, listen, when I signed with Unwell Network, we were told that all these things would happen. But ultimately when it ended up happening is I saw all these other shows on the Unwell Network being given all these resources, a production team, help with lighting. All they basically did was send me a camera and say, figure it out. And she's like, I felt kind of like shit because my show was probably, she didn't say this, but I think it was essentially assumed. Her show was giving Unwell all this revenue from the ads. And Alex Cooper wasn't helping her at all. And TJ was like, we kind of were just like sold a false bill of goods and they didn't help us whatsoever.
29:52They weren't inviting me to events. They stopped talking to me. They stopped communicating with me. Alex Earl had to find out that she was dropped from the Unwell network through the media. She didn't even have a conversation. And I guess on Jake Shane's podcast, Alex Earl later admitted, she's like, listen, when Alex Cooper did that Instagram reel and was like, you better get explicit about what exactly it is you're pissed about because there's no NDA. Talk all you want. I want to hear it. And Alex Earl was like, the reason I didn't want to speak was because I was scared of what I felt like she was baiting me into saying something because she had more like dirt on me than I even realized.
30:25So I was really terrified of her. Alex Cooper told me not to go to war with her. And actually what ended up happening was Alex Cooper, according to Alex Earl, was trying to drum up an NDA for Alex Earl to sign before she ended up parting ways with Unwell. But when everything started to come to like a head in the media, Unwell ended up dropping Alex Earl out of nowhere. So I thought that was really interesting. Like Alex Cooper claims, oh, there's no NDA, but you were fighting to the death to get Alex Earl to sign an NDA until you realized it was like no longer a good look. And you just relinquish all control and IP and let her go scot-free.
30:59Right. So I think Alex Earl is completely, completely right for being pissed about Unwell not giving it the right resources and Alex selling her like this false bill of goods. Now, what I do get a little confused on, and I'm curious what your thoughts are. Remember when Alex Earl was on the Call Her Daddy episode? Yeah. And she was kind of introduced into the Unwell network at that point. Remember when Alex Hooper was asking her all these questions like, are you an anal virgin? How many guys did you fuck your freshman year? Really personal questions. I guess Alex Earle felt very self-conscious.
31:30She's like, I remember that Alex Cooper was trying to get me really drunk. I clearly was not down to answer these questions, but because I was drunk and in front of her, and there's all these lights and these cameras, and I answered. I later told her to ask those sections from the podcast episode. I did not feel comfortable having that played and having that live on the internet for the rest of my life. Alex Cooper insisted, no, this is very funny. I don't want to take it out. She's like, I almost felt pressured to put these things out in the universe that I didn't feel comfortable with. And she's like, I felt like she took advantage of Jimmy whilst I was drunk.
31:59She took advantage of the fact that I would do anything she said because I, quote unquote, idolized her. And I guess my, I guess I get the frustration on Earl's part for sure. But I guess my question is, Alex Earl has said she idolized Alex Cooper. She was a daddy gang member. She had like the daddy gang under there and all these things. Yeah, it's almost like what did she expect? Thank you. But at the same time, Alex Cooper isn't asking other celebrities and other guests these questions. No, it was almost like she was trying to get dirt on Alex Earl or embarrass her or kind of posture her over her and kind of be like, I am the big man on campus.
32:36I will humiliate you if I need to. Yes. You know what I mean? Like that. So I get where Alex Earl is coming from. Like, yeah, of course, it's call her daddy. But it's like you don't see her asking these questions like Haley Bieber. No, 100 percent. And I think that's what my initial thought was like, well, what did you expect your daddy getting? This is Call Her Daddy. Like you should be asked these questions. But at the same time, that's a good point, too. When you have these A-list stars, you're not asking them what their favorite sex position is. Or maybe she is. And we're just not listening to these clips because Sophie and I do not listen to Call Her Daddy.
33:05You guys can let us know. But she's not asking Haley Bieber if she's an anal virgin. I'll tell you that much. Yeah. Right. Right. Right. Right. And I also think it's really interesting that the only people that are currently standing up for Cooper is Harry Jowsey and Dave Portnoy. Yeah. So Alex Cooper is definitely having a really, really, really rough past few weeks because this came out. And I think that like this Earl Meets World is getting, I think, mixed reviews overall from critics. But I think people like regular people who are watching it are like, yeah, it's like mindless, fun, enjoyable, whatever.
33:41My first impression, again, from like the less than one episode that I watched is that she comes off as very, you can see why she is so popular. Like she is so, she, like, I know that you said that you don't get the relatability factor. I don't know if relatable is the word, but she's very like approachable and normal. Like when she talks, like, I don't, I don't get the sense that she thinks that she is like, like, I'm sure she does think she's hot shit because she literally is. But like, she doesn't come across as super, super, super arrogant or cocky or whatever it is. Like she seems like pretty grounded, like I said.
34:16And so you have that. And then you have the Love Overboard got canceled. And that's the Hulu dating show that was under the Unwell Network. And then you have Unwell Beverages also, obviously, that has shut down. And then the Let's Marry Harry, where apparently Harry Jowsey came off as a fucking sociopath psycho. And this is Alex Cooper's like ally. Like this is someone that she has really, really, really tried to shove down our throats. Like this is who you are standing by as Harry Jowsey. It's like all of these things combined is just such a bad look for Alex Cooper. And I know we always talk about her and like we just did a Patreon episode of like the Unwell Network where Christy like argued like she's actually a really smart businesswoman.
34:57And I was like, is she though? But in any case, and also Sophia Franklin's book is coming out in a matter of, I think like a month from now, I think it's October. I think it's like in in four to six weeks it's coming out, which will also obviously have dirt on her. So just not a great time for Alex Cooper, I would say. Right. It's she's really not having a good couple of months. It's really bad. And I think that it's very clear. And Alyssa, Alex Earl's mom even acknowledges she's like, Alex Cooper needs to be number one. And I think that so much is very clear. she cannot be threatened by any other female uh artist or creator she needs to be on top and that's a pattern now it's a pattern and like reputation matters and it's like now she has this pattern of trying to fuck over her you know uh female allies like you have sophia franklin then alex earl it's like now it's kind of just becoming a pattern um oh god well thank you for the recap of earl meets world speaking of threatening i really threatening i really quickly want to talk about danny and nia leaving the valley do you think they were fired or do you think they are leaving voluntarily i was thinking about this very deeply and i think they voluntarily voluntarily left because they cannot stand their image being tarnished one iota more, like one centimeter more.
36:27They need to get out. That's what I think, too, is that it's the fact that they are under so much scrutiny. Trigger warning Ryan Bailey thinks they were fired. And I'm like, I don't see why the Valley producers would fire them because where does the show go from here? Who is going to be the villain? What is the conflict going to be next season? And part of his argument was that Janet Caperna obviously posted the karma. She posted like an Instagram story with a song Karma after the news broke. And it's like, I don't think she's saying karma in that, ha ha, you guys got fired. I think she was saying karma in that, wow, we pushed you out of the group successfully.
37:04We pushed you out, like you're gone. So yeah, I agree that they left voluntarily in my opinion, but I'm very curious what you guys think. Do you think they were fired? Do you think they are leaving on their own accord? And then there are rumors that Sheena may or may not be coming back, coming next season onto the valley. Sheena and Brock. And in my opinion, and I said this in our substack, bring in the big guns. Like, bring in Sheena and Brock. Because where does the show go from here otherwise? Now, I was going to say that with Dani and Nia out, I am no longer interested because there will be no conflict.
37:44We need something else. else. Yeah, what's the conflict? I mean, so if you bring back Sheena, we know that Sheena and Lala have beef. And then we also know that. Yeah. And so we also know that Sheena and Brock have a dysfunctional marriage, I would say, is pretty easy to assume. So I'm like, bring in the big guns. Bring in Sheena and Brock. No, I completely am for it. Like, if you had told me that I would have said this two years ago, I wouldn't have believed you. But we need it at this point, because I'm literally disinterested. Say what you will about Sheena. She is an incredible reality star.
38:17She is. Say what you will about her. That's an undisputable fact. Okay, let's get into our dark energy object, shall we? Really quick, though, can I just talk about Maggie and Braxton and Lando and Alex? Oh, yeah. Okay, yes, because Alex unfollowed Braxton. Yeah. And people don't know if it's publicity for the show. But essentially, if you guys are unfamiliar, this summer, Alex Earl was partying with Saucy Baby in like the south of France. They were just like gallivanting around Europe. And a large part of their European vacation, they were spotted with like a lot of F1 celebrities, athletes or whatever you call them.
38:54Sophie and I are not F1 girlies. OK, I know Lando Norris is a big deal. F1 athletes. Yeah. Yeah. Whatever. Sure. So Lando Norris was like spotted with both Saucy and Alex. and no one was sure who he was like hooking up with because I think there was one photo that was released of Saucy Baby like wearing Lando's watch. So they're like, oh, he's hooking up with Saucy. But then there's also videos of Lando and Alex getting really close and chummy. So I think it's fair to say that Lando and Alex probably did hook up. And the way that Earl meets World ends up, the way that they end the season is that she calls Braxton and asks him if he would ever give her another chance if she wanted to get back with him.
39:29And that episode ends with him going, oh, Alex. and then it just stops. So you're kind of left wondering, oh, is there room for them to get back together? Whatever. But it seems like, did Alex Earl unfollow Braxton Berrios? Because this weekend, Braxton and her name is Margarita Corsiera, but people call her Maggie, M-A-G-U-I, I think is how you pronounce it. So Braxton and Maggie were seen together in New York City, just like the weekend that Earl Meets World was filmed. and they think it's because Maggie and Braxton are trying to get back at Lando and Norris because Maggie is Lando's ex-girlfriend.
40:07Oh, I didn't know that part. Yes. And she posted a TikTok, I think two days ago, of her in New York City dancing to this song that I guess Alex Earl danced to as well in Europe. So they're like, Maggie's throwing shade at Lando and Alex. And like, I 100 % think this is true. Like, Maggie and Braxton are joining forces and trying to show their exes what's up. and I'm kind of like that's so messy and I love it yeah and Alex unfollowed Braxton yeah so it clearly is bothering her and she admits she talks a lot about the Tom Brady thing by the way in um in the show and all of her family is like so excited and they're like so into it which like I feel like they I I love them together like even though it's kind of gross and the age gap is a little weird like I don't know it makes sense so yeah it kind of does um okay DEOs um do you want to go first oh sure okay so my first one is my Peacock all of our Peacock subscriptions yes you guys have like the premium subscription it's gone up three dollars from$16.99 to$19.99 enough with it yes it's so like$20 a month to watch my Bravo shows it's so fucking insane you you guys.
41:21Like, it's such bullshit. Piss me off. It's ridiculous. I saw this and I was like, are they serious? And they know that they can do it. Like, I'm not canceling Peacock because I need my Bravo show. So like, they can do it. On the other hand, I think we talked about this back when it happened. When Disney Plus increased their subscription by like$6 at once, I was like, I don't need to watch Aladdin.
41:48Like, that's one that we canceled. No, like, the way that Disney Plus tries so hard and they can never get it together. No, it's like, I don't need to watch The Mandalorian, okay? No, and like, I would rather not. How they did like a partnership with Hulu, like, get Disney Plus and Hulu for three months for$5.99. Because they're like trying to suck you in. And then it increases to like$46 a month. Yeah, that's how they get you. Exactly. Like, I'm not that stupid, okay? Yeah, I'm not that stupid. I know there's a catch. Right. Right. But they try so fucking hard to get you to sign up for Disney+.
42:21It's so annoying. No one cares. It's so annoying. Let us know, you guys, like what is the streaming service that you have decided you can live without? For me, it's Disney+. Yeah. That's not even the running. And people shit on Apple TV. You shit on Apple, not you. Everyone who shits on Apple TV, you will shit on it until you get it and you're like, I can't live without it. Okay? So I'm trying to think of what Apple TV show I watched recently. Widow's Bay. Widow's Bay, yes. So good. So good. Lucky I stopped watching because Drew Starkey was killed off. Oh, yeah. But it also wasn't good. Cape Fear stopped watching because it wasn't good.
42:54They really thought they were doing something, by the way, with that. With Cape Fear. It was so bad. It was so bad. Really? I didn't even try it. But they definitely, when they have a hit like Widow's Bay, they make these really, really, really expensive shows that they just like don't advertise. I know. It's like the best production, too. I know. It's like the highest production value of all time. So yeah, Apple TV, Apple TV, I, yeah, is worth it to me. I think so too. But yeah, let us know, you guys. 46:15Like, it's almost misinformation. It's almost information overload, and I become overwhelmed. But I do like to know, like, when I'm stressed and how I sleep. But let's see how I feel in about three months. Call me in three months when you're divorced or whatever. Call me in three years when you're divorced. I stopped wearing mine because it stresses me out. And I'm sorry to all of the people because at one point I think I influenced some baby snarks to get an Oura ring. I just it was stressing me out because I would like have a very active day where I would walk like 10 ,000 steps and like go to yoga and work out.
46:47And it would still say, you're halfway to your activity goal. I'm like only halfway. Like it would make me feel like shit about not hitting my activity goals. And I'm like, what do you mean? Like, I feel like I'm like I'm very, very, very active. Like, what are you talking about? It would stress me out. It brings you down. It's like, I'm not going to have that energy today. Totally. Yeah, for sure. For sure. I have definitely said this one before, so I'm probably recycling this one. I'm sorry. But as you know, I flew from Chicago to and from Chicago this weekend. People who wear shorts on planes.
47:20What are you doing? What are you doing? That's so gross. No, it's like it's not only gross. It just seems uncomfortable. like it's literally like like think about like the sticky leather airplane seats like you want that touching your like it's just uncomfortable it seems like and also like airplanes like you never know what the temperature sometimes they're freezing like are you cold like they're either freezing or so hot like there's literally no in between um yeah so yeah uh that is disturbing to me okay my last one is celebrities saying they only get baby botox so did you see this jennifer Lawrence like interview that she did recently this past week where she basically is like, I just get baby Botox.
48:03It's Botox. Stop downplaying it. It's like, yeah, I generally like Jennifer Lawrence. I really do. But it's like, it's so like Kendall Jenner coded. It's like you're downplaying something because you think that you're so much better than everyone. It's not, there's no such thing as baby Botox. It is Botox. And then she also said, I like, she's doing the thing where she's like, that is all, that is all I've done to my face is baby Botox, but I need to be able to move my face. Give me a break. And she's like, I want to get buckle fat removal, but I know that people would notice. So just know that I want to get it, but I'm not going to.
48:36So, haha, very funny. She's had a fucking upper bluff. Everyone knows she has, but also like upper bluffs can be for like medical reasons. Like there are a lot of legitimate reasons outside of just aesthetics that people get upper bluff surgery. But like for her to act like she has not gotten an upper bluff is so annoying. Like, I'm so sick of these fucking celebrities acting like they're so perfect and that they don't need plastic surgery like everyone else in the world. They're just naturally beautiful and perfect. Like, shut up. I'm genuinely dying, though, at the fact that you said that baby Botox is giving Kendall Jenner.
49:10Like, why? When you said baby Botox, I was like, Kendall Jenner. I will never get over when Kendall Jenner went on Owen Thiel's podcast either last year or earlier this year and said, I have never done anything to my face. I'm like, we're not fucking stupid. We're not blind. We're not blind. We're not stupid. We weren't born yesterday, you fucking liar. It's actually insane to me. It's absolutely absurd. How stupid do they think we are? Kendall Jenner is just, not only does she think we're stupid, but she's a mean girl. Okay? Yeah. By all accounts, she is a mean, mean, mean person. She's a mean girl.
49:48You guys know my least favorite Kardashian. Okay. I have a bunch of LEOs, so you go first. Oh, yeah. This first one, my best friend was telling me to watch it. Okay. So my LEO, you guys, when you do blowouts on yourself, mousse. Like mousse will change. Do you use mousse? I've never used mousse before. I use the, not dry bar, living proof five-in-one styling cream. So I use a cream, not mousse. Gotcha. I use like Color Wow. I'll put in like some carousels, like heat styling treatment. Mousse is specifically to keep your blowouts more voluminous. What kind of mousse? What? What kind? Oh, I just get like some cheap from the drugstore, like L 'Oreal or something.
50:34It's a purple. Just like a mousse? Yeah. Any mousse? Mousse. Any mousse. Any mousse will do. I think the ingredients, I'm sure, are pretty straightforward. But basically. Any mousse will do. Any mousse will do. You heard it here first. you you slink the mousse from your roots to your ends while your hair is damp or wet and then you blow out that section and i'm telling you it keeps your blowout so much more intact wow you do your i always avoid my roots when i put in product because i feel like my roots get greasy likewise it doesn't make your hair greasy it's supposed to go from your roots because you know how the volume from your blowout has to come from like closer to your scalp so it's yeah you just slink it through your fingers through your hair like this and if you're watching on youtube and it makes your blowout phenomenal.
51:19Wow, good to know. I'm going to have to try that. Yeah. What's your favorite moose, you guys? Let us know. Any moose. Okay, so I have a bunch. So strap in. First of all, Welcome to the Family on Hulu is a new docuseries about the Denmark hell murder that happened in 2014. This was also the subject of the 2019 podcast series Over My Dead Body, the first season called Tally. So I was already familiar with this case. You would love that podcast, first of all, Christy. Second of all, you would love this docuseries. It is such a fucking insane story. You have this family, this wealthy Miami family that really had it all, but they wanted their grandkids because their daughter, Wendy, got divorced from Dan Markell, and the grandkids were ordered to stay in Tallahassee because that's where Dan Markell lived and worked, and he's the father, and that's what it is.
52:13where the kids were. And they could not deal with the fact that their grandkids were going to be stuck in Tallahassee instead of Miami. And so they took a head out on Dan Markell and had him killed. And it took a really, really, really long time for justice to be served, but it was. And yeah, it'll make you feel very grateful for the mother-in-law and the in-laws that you do have. And just be very, very, very grateful they're not the Adelsons. I've heard this documentary is phenomenal. It's airing on Hulu, streaming on Hulu. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's on Hulu. And yeah, I highly recommend, along with Death of the Pastor's Wife, which I forgot to talk about last week, but you will be infuriated after watching this.
52:56At least with Welcome to the Family, there is justice at the end. For the most part, it's still like a question mark if Wendy Adelson was involved, if she will ever face charges. That is like the biggest question mark with all of this. Death of the pastor's wife is so infuriating in so many ways. I just I cannot believe that this fucking psycho John Paul Miller is still a pastor. Yeah. Like it is so crazy, you guys. Aren't they trying to did I make this up or did I read this wrong? That they're trying to like reopen the case because there's there's like a mountain evidence. I hope so. I mean, like, I don't know for sure.
53:38that was not disclosed in the documentary. Kind of just he is off kind of living his life now with his new wife and his new church. But yeah, two very good true crime documentaries that I highly recommend. The Dan Markell story is just so twisted. It kind of like has everything like revenge, deceit, like I don't know. It's just such a crazy, crazy, crazy story. Money. Like you have this wealthy family that literally gave up everything to have this guy killed. They had everything. They were so like rich. Like there's one part where Charlie, the brother, the brother in law, who was one of the people that put out a hit on his ex brother in law.
54:24Um, he's like, I'm eating, they tapped his phone. He's like, I'm eating lobster by the pool. Like he really had it all. He was eating lobster by the pool. Like he was this wealthy dentist. Um, so yeah, highly recommend those two documentaries. My other LEO is CT and Phaedra Parks from The Traitors are dating. Love this. Obsessed with this. Everyone by storm. Everyone is like obsessed with this pairing. I'm absolutely obsessed. They made their debut at the Daytime Emmys and Hot Couple. And it's so funny. I was saying this to trigger warning Ryan Bailey, how like I like in my mind, CT, like I I watched real world Paris with him when he was a young 20 something.
55:06And then Phaedra, I'm like, she's a housewife. Like this age gap, like there has to be an age gap there. It's really like a very, very, very minor age gap. It's like six years or something. A hot couple. He is technically still married. His wife slash soon to be ex-wife commented on an Instagram post about this and said, sign the papers. So she is wanting him to sign the divorce papers. but um yeah love this pairing I mean if he's gonna be on Real Houses of Atlanta like that'll be pretty iconic um so yeah I love this pairing next Elio what I was gonna I know I go ahead go ahead Nathan Fielder and Elizabeth Holmes the documentary did you did you see this um yes I I've seen all the press about it and oh my god I am obsessed if you guys don't know like I am obsessed with Nathan Fielder, Nathan for you, the rehearsal.
56:02Like he is a fucking genius. And he apparently has done this documentary along with Lance Oppenheim filming Elizabeth Holmes in the days leading up to her prison sentence, along with, I think, some of her, you know, it's been three years now that they've been filming also. So you see - Yeah, he's visiting her in the prison. Visiting her in prison. I'm sure, like, what if Jen Shaw's in it? So this is crazy. I'm so excited. It's getting rave reviews. Apparently it was like a surprise screening at Telluride Film Festival. So I am so excited for this. It's like all, someone was like, it's like when you say a dog's favorite words in front of the dog.
56:43It's like Nathan Fielder, Elizabeth Holmes, documentary. Like, yeah. Yeah, I mean, I think I've mentioned this, that the reason Emily Rose met her now fiance, say she's getting married next month is because she pulled a pickup line from you about Theranos, like from your Twitter. And that was her pickup line to her now husband. What was it? Like, I want something to give me the high. Oh, I want, yeah, something to give me the same high as when the Elizabeth Holmes Theranos scandal broke. I am like so obsessed with that podcast, the dropout, the show, the dropout, the book, Bad Blood. Like, I've consumed every piece of media about the Theranos scandal.
57:22It is so crazy. Elizabeth Holmes is insane. And in this teaser with Nathan Fielder, she's like not blinking. Like she's so scary. And like I did some diligence on her husband who she shares a child with now. He comes from like a very wealthy family, too. Did you see that? Yeah. Yeah. And he has to be a fucking freak to be married to her. I'm sorry. Huge freak. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, I am very interested in that. And then my last one is, guys, I've changed my mind since last week. Thank you all for your feedback about the John Galliano exhibition being canceled for the Met Gala. So Louis Pisano, who is a Paris-based, basically, Louis Pisano, along with a lot of other Paris-based journalists and fashion people, were like, he's a Paris-based fashion journalist.
58:12He was like, John Galliano never stopped being anti-Semitic. It's a known secret in the Paris fashion scene that he continues to be anti-Semitic. He also was spewing anti-Asian rhetoric that he never atoned for or took accountability for. So I have really changed my stance after when we did our episode on him, I really had like heard and read that he had done a lot of work to change as a person, but it doesn't seem like he has by all accounts. And he has not been accountable to the the Asian population who he also offended it seems like um so not only is he anti-semitic he is racist and also like this is such a huge honor having a retrospect about not only you as a designer but you as a person and I think that yeah like it this was not only the best choice, but the only choice was to cancel it.
59:13And I think that, yes, there's a world where people can change and be forgiven. It doesn't seem like he's changed, allegedly. But also, like, just because someone changes and is forgiven or whatever it is doesn't mean they deserve, like, the highest honor in fashion. Yeah. And it sounds like, you know, a ton of people, like Anna Wintour, first of all, Anna Wintour making this decision and pushing for it is very questionable. I think that she really, really, really thought that this would be okay. But apparently there was tons of backlash and not only Jewish donors of the Met Gala, but non-Jewish donors too were like, this is ridiculous.
59:56So that is my mea culpa, I guess, for trying to make excuses for John Galliano last week, just because I thought, you know, from our research that he had changed, but he allegedly has not. So fuck him. I'm happy that it's canceled. I think this was the right decision. And thank you guys for all weighing in. And that is my long list of light energy objects. No, I love that. Thanks for walking us through. I'm feeling lighter after that conversation. Yeah. So tomorrow on the Patreon, like I said, at top, We're doing a Crime Junkie expose.
