It is Monday, May 4th, 6 a.m. Pacific. First Monday in May, which you know what that means. May the 4th be with you. No. Christy, you nerd. Oh, it's going to be May. No, it's the Met Gala. no it's the Met Gala so I am so excited for the Met Gala this is like my favorite day of the year I actually I was texting Christy yesterday I wait I'm sorry I'm still crying at you being like may the fourth be with you it's gonna be May like all of these like millennial memes yeah I was just that automatically just went yeah I don't know it's really early I'm like I think I'm still You get an excuse because it's 6 a.m.
2:21your time. But yeah, so I dragged Henry and Baxter to the Mark Hotel yesterday when we were running errands because the Mark Hotel is where like a lot of the celebrities say that in the Carlisle. But we did not see anyone. Unfortunately, I was hoping that we would see some arrivals or some people, you know, some of the celebrities like going out to dinner the night before the Met, but nothing. So that was disappointing. And then part of me was like, should I post up outside of the Mark Hotel today? But I have to work. Like, I have to work. And, like, that's like a whole day commitment. Because you have to, like, get there early to get a spot to watch the celebrities.
3:07Yeah. And obviously, we're in the past. So the Met Gala has already occurred. But if you're a patron or business founders, they get, like, we do live chats. That's like, at least monthly, I would say. And Sophie's going to spearhead that. But I, yeah, I wonder if, they're probably not eating because they have to be on the carpet. Maybe that's why they weren't at dinner. But I was going to say, do you think that they just like do room service in their rooms? If they do need to eat? Like, they don't even want to be seen because they know that it's, like, a flock of, like, people that are going to expect celebrities.
3:46So, they just want to be more covert. Probably. I mean, there have been a lot of celebrity spottings, like, in New York City in general. Like, Kylie, Timothy, Chris, I think Kim, and, like, Daisy Edgar-Jones. And all of these random celebrities that you know are going to be at the Met have been spotted around New York City. But, yeah, I imagine if you're staying at the Mark on, like, Sunday and Monday leading up to the Met, you're like, uh, yeah, I'll just order room service. Um, but the controversy around the Met Gala this year is the fact that Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are sponsoring it.
4:20They paid like$10 million to sponsor it, which is apparently the reason why Zendaya is not attending. And then meanwhile, you had La Roche talking about how, oh, I'm so excited for the Met. It's finally going to be about me. So La Roche is Zendaya's stylist. It's like, when is it not about you, La Roche? Like every other stylist, you don't hear about them. But La Roche, it's always about you. So that seemed a little bit shady towards Zendaya. So that is like the pre-Met gala drama controversy. But I'm sure there will be more. Yeah. Something about Zendaya, she will always stand up for like what she believes.
5:00Remember during the euphoria season, what do you call it? The party. She refused to photograph with Sydney Sweeney because she stands on business. Oh, yes. Yes. Yeah. I love that she, you know, stands up for what's right. Yeah. For what she believes in. Just another reason to stand her. And actually, you know what? I've been really enjoying euphoria this season. and I mean not like really enjoying it but enjoying it more than I thought I would because I feel like I was not looking forward to the season the thing about me is that even though no one is forcing me to watch things like the valley yeah euphoria I feel obligated to I feel obligated to clock in I've been enjoying it more than I thought I would and Zendaya has been actually really and I know that she's won awards for her role as Rue in the past I have not been like super super super impressed with just the acting and the show in general but I feel like she's amazing this season I have only watched up to episode three I didn't watch this past weeks but I don't know if I could say I'm enjoying it it just feels like I'm watching an entirely really different show at this point.
6:14So I'm like, I don't know. This isn't what I signed up for, but I don't know. I just kind of feel it to be a bit of a parody at this point. Like I'm on the euphoria Reddit and seeing what other like folks are saying. And there, some people are like, they said episode three, season three was like the best episode of the entire series. And I'm like, I don't know if I would go that far. I don't know about that, but I'm enjoying myself more than I thought and then also this weekend I saw Devil Wears Prada 2 which was so good highly recommend everyone it was so freaking good but what's funny is that uh there is a character that is based off of I don't want to spoil too much so I'm being careful about what I say based off of Jeff Bezos
7:03and that I feel like is aligning with what we are dealing with right now in real life with the Met Gala and the controversy of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez trying to take over Vogue or Runway or the Met Gala or whatever it is. So I just thought that was very, I just thought that the themes of the movie were very timely, very topical. I don't want to spoil anything. So I'm not going to say anything else, but it's so good. You guys go see it. I heard that the movie was filmed intentionally a bit grainy to kind of as a harkening back to when it was originally filmed in like the early 2000s. How, you know, everything is so HD these days, but I think that they use like a specific camera.
7:47There were some scenes that were definitely film. Yeah. They used film in certain scenes, but not the whole movie. But I did notice that actually. I didn't know that that was like, you know, to harken back to the original film, but so good. Highly recommend. I had so much fun watching it. What was I going to say? The. Okay, I forgot what I was going to say. Well, whatever it is, I'm sure it was unimportant because we have many things to talk about on the docket. I think I'm just like really out of it this morning. I really apologize, but I'm trying to get together, get it together. And I'm like chugging this coffee.
8:25um let's talk about alex cooper versus baby alessi also known as arian lauren burnham formerly burnham's uh child if you guys remember we actually just did a patreon episode about scandals that happened in bachelor nation and interestingly enough we just talked about ari and lauren and how i know what are the odds how we originally chose becca and then he later chose lauren and now they seem to be very happy and i think they live in hawaii or they did live in hawaii they have like a bunch of kids they seem to be living a very instagram family happy type of life and sophie and i talked about how it seems like they really definitely use their children for engagement yes and cliques yes and this is kind of part of the story that we're going to talk about because back before baby alessie ren was even born when she was still in utero it was a bit of a sketch comedy act that alex and sophia this is way back when call her daddy still had Sophia in it they had this whole bit on their show where they would pretend to be baby Alessi and they would sexualize baby Alessi and talked as if she were a woman grown up as a stripper doing cocaine having sex they would talk about her in a very bizarre way it's it's actually very very very disturbing and bizarre yes and I actually remember when I used to kind of sometimes dabble and listening to random episodes of Call Her Daddy, I remember when this happened.
9:54And I cannot remember if it was Sophia or Alex that started this bit, but it became a whole, it was like as if DEO and LEO on our show, it was like the baby Alessi segment in Call Her Daddy. They would do it all the time, talking so disgustingly about this unborn child. An unborn child, yeah. Yes, and now it's kind of coming back into the airwaves. Yeah, so it's really weird because Lauren posted, she did like a Q &A just the other day where someone was like, Team Alex or Alex? And she said, Team Alex Earl. If you know, you know, something like that. And she says like, yes, it's personal. And I was like, what's personal?
10:35Like, oh my God, I didn't know there was any beef. I'm very interested now. And this has been bubbling up for weeks now. Even before Lauren posted that, people have been dredging this back up. Yeah. These segments where Sophia and Alex would talk about baby Alessi and say really disgusting things. I don't even want to get into it, but like bodily fluids, like about an unborn child. It was like hyper-sexualized, disgusting. Like I wouldn't even talk about this with an adult, about an adult, let alone a child, unborn child. Horrific. And Lauren and Ari were talking about it on some podcast and they were saying that, you know, it was extremely infuriating for them, understandably and extremely upsetting and they consider taking legal action but decided not to because they thought it would be like the strisand effect it would draw more attention to it and they just wanted it to blow over and be done with um but so they never ended up taking legal action but what's interesting is that there's also a resurfaced clip where sophia and alex are talking about how they knew what they were doing was really really really wrong because every time Dave would reach out to them, they were like, oh my God, we're getting sued by the Lion Dykes.
11:48We're getting sued by Ari and Lauren. Like Dave would be like, need to talk to you ASAP. And they were like, oh my God, we need a lawyer up. Like they knew what they were doing was very disgusting and that they, you know, could have been probably taken to court in some capacity. I don't know what for exactly, but it was really disgusting the things they were saying. and uh it's just so interesting how alex cooper has like now she's you know kind of shed all of these controversies and never forget what she said after she got caught well she posted making out with her dog yeah and she said i don't know why you guys are freaking out i don't know if you got touched by your father growing up or something along those lines do you remember this of course cover this on our Alex Cooper episode.
12:38Yeah. Making fun of childhood sexual assault victims. Yeah. I think when it comes to Alex Cooper, we look at her through the lens of 2026 as this businesswoman, as this entrepreneur, the founder, CEO of Unwell. But I think we've forgotten what exactly she did to kind of get to the top. And the way that she used to talk about women, despite being, despite platforming herself as a female led podcast, supporting women and uplifting women, you did quite literally the opposite then that's how you kind of got your big break that's how you were able to break into this industry at the very top um really out of nowhere and i think this whole thing with baby alessi just further proves my point that alex cooper is not necessarily i think respected and i use this in quotes really respected in the industry more so than she's seen as like a safe option as we've talked about for celebrities and for pr and publicists when they say you want to do a interview to promote your new album to promote your new movie go and call her daddy because she's going to ask softball questions she's not going to get into the nitty gritty she's not going to disarm you she's going to ask like pre-approved questions let's do that and I think that between the baby Alessi controversy Alex versus Alex the unwell article that came out on I think it was Forbes or Bloomberg saying how much of a nightmare Matt Kaplan was to work with, how disorganized the company is, how their CMOs move back so quickly.
14:08They leave. All these C-suite executives are leaving unwell. Something is going on at the company, and I think now it's kind of hard to ignore. And I actually had to Google this, and this is just from AI Gemini, so this could be not entirely correct. But I was like, who actually is still listening to Call Her Daddy? Because I genuinely don't know, and we ask ourselves this all the time. And it says that the largest listenership resides in the South, 34%, which is like a lot higher than I thought. I feel like it's like college, like Alabama sorority girls. That's literally what I wrote here. So followed by the West, 24%, Northeast, 22%, Midwest, 20%.
14:43I literally was like, LOL. I feel it's all like Roll Tide University of Alabama girls that listen to it. And then the political affiliation is 48 % identifies Democrats, 24 % Republicans, 20 % independents. So she spans across a really wide political spectrum, but I don't know. It's just, it's really weird because I feel like over the last six months, she cannot escape controversy. And at some point we have to all look around and ask, is everyone the problem except Alex Cooper or is she really the problem? Did you listen to a friend of the pod, Shannon Fluently Forwards, Alex Cooper episode that she did a couple of weeks ago?
15:20No, I didn't. So she did an amazing job. Shout out Shannon Fluently Forward. Everyone go listen to this. uh but she basically said that it is speculated i can't remember exactly what the what the proof was but that apparently alex cooper or call her daddy is known to use a type of software that bot farm yes inflates downloads yes shannon's told me that offline she's convinced that that is happening because the downloads are better than like joe rogan sometimes and it doesn't make sense Not, but like not recently. She really hasn't been, call her daddy has not been that high on the charts in recent weeks, but I think in the past, in the past, yes.
16:05So it's interesting. And I know that I feel like you guys think that we're like so hard on Alex Cooper. We are, but this is relevant. This is relevant to what's happening in the news cycle right now because Lauren Leyendeik just posted another Instagram story like yesterday or two days ago saying, I am still furious about this. Like I'm not over it. like she's still understandably so yeah she still is holding on to a lot of anger over this and i completely understand why yeah and just to play a not to um say anything that alex and sophia did was right because it's not at all i do think it's a little weird that they were posting about their unborn child in the way that they were though i think like we have to just call that out to say it is a little bizarre does it does it warrant weird yes does it warrant the kind of response that Sophia and Alex did 150 % no, but it is a little weird that you were speaking from the POV of your unborn child and posting it to Instagram for engagement.
16:58I don't know. I think that they are the poster child of exploiting your children right next to Amanda Santon of The Bachelorette or The Bachelor, but you have to kind of side-eye them as well. But again, they didn't deserve this whatsoever. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I also think it's, I think we talked about this on our Patreon episode. Yeah, yeah. We were like, they are constantly exploiting their kids. That's what the Lion Dykes do. That's like how they make a living. So it does not, you know, make it what Sophie and Alex did right at all. But yeah, it's gross. It also like anyone who makes a social media account for their child, Summer Moon, Cruz Couchy, the Vanderpump people.
17:40Why? Why are you making a social media account for your child? I'm sorry. It's bizarre. I remember listening to Stassi on a podcast and she said that one time she was out with her family and a fan approached her and said, oh, what's her daughter's name again? Hartford. Hartford is so cute. Do you mind if I take a photo with her? And Stassi was really taking it back, obviously, by that question. And then she kind of asked herself, well, at least she had a bit of self-awareness to say, well, I do kind of platform my child on every single platform that I have. And a lot of my content is based on my child.
18:14So it's natural for people to have this like pitter social relationship with my child, but it's still weird. But it's like, okay, then am I mind? That should be a wake-up call. Yeah. If your child is getting recognized on the street, that should be a wake-up call to any parent that, you know, maybe it's time. And I, oh my God, I hate to give Nick Vial and Natalie Joy any sort of credit. But they said they stopped showing River, their daughter, which, you know, was crazy because for her first year of her life, basically, Nick Viall was taking nonstop selfies with her. Shirtless, may I add? Shirtless with a ring light.
18:47But I guess they said that when she, when River started getting recognized, they were like, okay, let's stop showing her face. And, you know, they're still gonna post her, just not her face. So, but, you know, I feel like that's good at least. Yeah. I hate to give Nick Viall props under any circumstances. But hey. That actually pains me. Yeah, but hey, I mean, that's one thing that they're doing right. Is there anything better than feeling like you finally nailed your bedding? Everything is soft and the perfect weight. It becomes your happy place that you cannot wait to crawl into after a long day of running a business that you're passionate about.

21:56um okay let's move on to summer house you and i both had similar feelings and i'm glad you wrote this as well what did you think about sierra and west reconciling and of course tonight there's going to be a new episode but we have to talk about it because this episode really made people very upset reasonably so yeah it was it was a tough watch it was a tough watch like i think that you know we've talked about this before how sierra is clearly in love with this man yeah and he knows that and he plays into it the way that he was kissing her on the forehead like that's an extremely intimate thing i thought the same and i think that was like the unspoken thing and all of like let's be best friends again it's like no this is sierra wanting to actually like potentially get back together.
22:49One million percent. It's how I took it because she is in love with this man. I don't know why, obviously. Don't know why. I think that she, it's like a self-esteem thing maybe. It's like this man has shown you who you are and you are still in love with him. And it just sucks because the one thing she didn't want was to be embarrassed. And there's nothing more embarrassing than these episodes, knowing what we know now, how she is so like hard eyes for him i know it's really painful and he does not care about her and that is obvious yeah to see her fawning over him at that boat dock and sobbing the entire time and him pretending to wipe away non-existent tears tough watch non-existent tears like it was really weird how he kept like you know putting his finger up to his eyes it's like there's nothing there stop doing that it's a tough watch and I will have to say yes we're all rallying behind Sierra but let's all just take a second to acknowledge that she's probably she should be counting her lucky stars that this Amanda thing happened because now everyone is no longer focused on her being down bad for this man who doesn't care if she lives or dies and all that attention is now like moved and the anger is now all 100 towards West and Amanda but like it's so embarrassing for her though like it's extra embarrassing now that she is so down bad for him yes and I'm seeing a bunch of TikTok creators saying I'm curious what you think about this some people are saying like Sierra is just she doesn't there's no excuse for her to continue going back to him but also she's getting this like really good at it now because she's been like this scorned woman and she's getting the Ariana treatment because she's been you know betrayed by her lover and her best friend but she's really not a nice person and i was like i really disagree with that but a lot i don't agree with that i don't agree with that at all they're like oh she's so mean to the newbies and she's so cold to everyone and she's not friends with anyone and i'm like i just think that she's very guarded she's very guarded understandably because she has been hurt before and i think that she's very careful about who she lets in even though she tends to have not the best taste in people that she does let in uh i.e west and sabrina bale sabre i love sabrena bale sabrena bale people people are kind of turning a like the the tides are turning as it pertains to sabrena bale not on ben ben i never want to see you on my screen ever again he is the biggest flop yes there is something very endearing about that about the fact that sabrena bale is she marches to the beat of her own drum she doesn't care she acts a little quirky she dresses a little quirky you gotta appreciate it but anyway back to sierra i feel like, Sierra, this has been like a longstanding pre-scandal discourse about her is that she's not a girl's girl because she's one of the bedbugs and they're not welcoming.
25:47And I think there is like an argument to say that, yes, the bedbugs were not welcoming to new girls, absolutely. But I think that Sierra on her own, I feel like she was kind of living in the shadow of Paige. Like she was such a supporting character in previous seasons. We didn't really know her. But from what I've seen, I feel like Sierra is such a warm, nice person. And I think that she's a bona fide star this season after, you know, kind of shedding. Like, she's out of the background. She is now the star of the show. And I don't think that's true that Sierra's not a nice person. I think that, did she have her bad moments with the Lindsay and Austin love triangle?
26:29Oh, God. Yes. Yes, absolutely. It's really bad. I think that there were some lines that were crossed with Jesse Solomon and Lexi last season. Yes. Oh, I forgot. Oh, my God. I totally forgot about how the girls could not stop flirting with Jesse. So that's, I feel like there is like an argument to be made that like the bedbugs are not the biggest quote unquote girls girls, even though that term needs to be retired. But I think Sierra as a person is extremely, like she might, it might take some time for her to warm up to people because she is closed off. but I think that she's a very, very, very nice person from what we've seen, a very kind person.
27:03She was a nurse. Like, I know that doesn't automatically make you a nice person based on the girls that I went to high school with that are now nurses. But no, I think that she is a very, and she is the first person, by the way. I'm wearing my Carl's a mess merch. She is the first person to have a heart-to-heart with someone like Carl who's struggling. Like, she is there for her castmates when they are struggling. And that is something that is very apparent. yeah my best friend Emily shout out to Emily she's very triggered by Sierra's actions and she sent me this video and she's like it was something on x that she came across but it was like Sierra being down bad and it's like she's doing the same thing that she did with Austin to West like it's relatable and the thing is I didn't watch Winterhouse so I don't know that history all I've seen was what was on Summer House when her and Lindsay got into that fight because Lindsay kissed Austin but like I don't know the lore that was Austin and Sierra Lindsay were hooking up first is the thing Austin and Lindsay were hooking up first you need to watch Winter House I can't believe you haven't watched Winter House that is like so much of Craig's lore and like the Austin and Sierra lore but it's it's relatable it's painful to watch because I think we can all relate to being down bad of course a piece of shit guy that does not deserve it but a hundred percent and I think that's why watching it is so triggering for so many of us that are watching because you hate the worst parts of yourself that you see on reality tv like for instance I hated Sheena but that's because I was fully aware I'm like there's like a thirst to Sheena that I can completely relate with and I can like own that you know what I mean but I think that we become triggered by the folks that we see on reality tv that display the worst parts of ourselves that we want to shield and hide when in fact it's like but you two are actually kind of the same um And let's also say that some of the Sierra hate is misogynoir.
28:53Yeah, it's misogynoir. Like, it's literally the fact that she is a Black woman. So much of the Bravo audience has triggered her for racist reasons. So let's just be clear with that. I think that a lot of the discourse is fair about some of her actions in the past, but I think that 99 % of it is racially motivated. 100 % yeah yeah and well and triggering i think as people who are watching knowing that we've all been we've we've all fucking been there but she is killing it obviously she was just at tiana taylor's and mia i think mia was there and then she is also doing the red carpet interviewing for e-news at the met gala tonight which is huge obviously um dude she's gonna be i'm really excited for her the whole world is at her fingertips and I could actually even go so far as to say she may be aligned with Paige's success like soon enough because I think she's getting oh I think that she is yeah I think she's on the like Ariana Maddox like track I think that she and Ariana Maddox is mainstream famous like I think that she is 100 % going to be just as big if not bigger than Ariana.
30:09Yeah, I agree. Yeah. Okay. Speaking of people that will definitely be at the Met Gala, let's talk about Kylie Jenner really fast. Did you see this whole Kai rebrand thing? No, I'm so glad that you wrote this on our docket because I wanted to talk about Sprinter being rebranded into K2O hydration sticks. Wait, that's so funny. We both had this on our list. Yes. Oh my God. So just to tee it up, you guys, we did a whole Patreon episode on Kylie Jenner's flop disappearing brands. She has so many brands that have been flops. It is actually fascinating. It's fascinating. Fascinating. And I think her biggest mistake is not just focusing on doing one thing really well.
30:48I'm actually watching, you know that I'm watching early Roni and it reminds me of when Bethany or like whoever it is, Bethany, Heather Thompson are talking to Sonia and Sonia is like my toaster ovens and the lifestyle brand. And they're like, just focus on one thing and the and the clothing the clothing brand the fashion show yeah it's like just focus on one thing and do it well and that i think is really good advice and i think that kylie should follow that advice um so she has her brand khy that she launched i believe in 2023 yeah then 24 yeah it's a newish newish brand and they're already rebranding according to vogue there's a whole feature.
31:28And, um, you know, she says the starting point was what is Kai in a physical place? And there was nothing that came to the top of my head. So we started to think, what are we, what are our colors? And we started from there. So basically saying that our, we have no brand identity. And she says in this article that like our business model was always like collaborations with other creators, which is not what I like. That's not what the brand was. In my opinion, the brand had their own line that was not just collaboration. So I don't know where they got that from. When they first started doing drops, I do remember it being in collaboration with so-and-so designer.
32:05But very recently, I haven't seen that in a while. But they also had their own, it was just Kai. Yeah, 100 % Kai. Yeah, correct. It's like a hybrid approach, I would say. Yeah, and I also, when I think of, I think it's totally fair that they have no brand identity because when I think of the brand, I don't even know what I think of. Me either. Like when I think of Skims, obviously a very defined brand identity, very successful brand, Good American even. I feel like Good American makes very affordable, you know, wardrobe staples, whether it's jeans or swimwear or whatever it is. It's very affordable and still feels, I feel like, a little bit elevated even though I've never bought the brand.
32:40But I feel like they both have very defined brand identities. Kai never has. But she says she has a brand new creative team and she's taken a year to redefine Kai's central design language with the hopes of building a more cohesive output. My style is always evolving. I think everything is a learning process. I loved all our collaborations. I loved having the opportunity to work with some of my favorite designers, but I want Kai to feel permanent versus trend-based. I want to really define who we are. And this is crazy because it's like, you're saying your style is evolving. And Kylie Jenner is, as a person, I feel like very trend-based, but you want us to feel permanent?
33:15Like, I'm a little lost with this. Yeah, perfectly said. I wrote here, that's interesting considering the entire collection is based on trends the limited drops the price points are very high by the way but i feel like her entire brand is trend-based kai is trend-based that's actually if i can think of one adjective to describe her brand that is what it is but now you want to focus on being a more permanent cap like permanent collection yeah i don't know it's just completely opposite of what you're talking the diametrical opposite as dorit would say so she wants to focus more on like denim and like bedazzled denim.
Read the full transcript
33:51And it's really interesting because she wore a piece of denim. I think it was to the Knicks game with Timothy. Yes, the white. And that wasn't even Kai denim. It was Isabel Morant. So that's also weird. Like, I feel like she's just botching this. Did you see the blind item, speaking of, that said that there's a reality star that hawks all this clothing but refuses to wear it because the brand is trash? And everyone was saying that was Kylie Jenner. Probably her because she wasn't even wearing it to the basketball game. She was wearing Isabelle Morant. But they looked like just like the bedazzled jeans that she is trying to put out for Kai.
34:25They're also increasing their prices from under$200 to$70 to$470 is the new range. I also feel like the dresses are expensive though. I've gone on the site for market research. Some of those dresses are in the$400s. Like it's an expensive brand today. Well, now I guess they increase their brands, I guess, or they increase their prices. Yeah, 100%. Because like now recently their prices are expensive. I'm always very confused. I'm like, this is very expensive. And you know who does like an elevated ready to wear brand really well that is pricier. But people, especially influencers, love it. And the thing with Kai is that I don't know any influencers that wear it.
35:06So like who is wearing it? Because I feel like it's supposed to be like influencer Instagram clothes. It's very tight things that Kylie would wear. Elsa Hosk has a brand called Helsa. Yes. And influencers are obsessed with it. And it is high price range. Like I've never bought anything because I don't think from what I've seen of like the try-ons, the quality does not seem amazing, but the styles, the branding is great. Like the styles are very unique. You can think of Helsa and think of like a very defined brand identity. And also because Elsa Hosk has amazing style that people want to emulate.
35:40So it works for her. But with Kylie, it's just like this clothing brand thing, especially with the higher price points. Like if anything, it should be things that the normal person can afford, like Good American and Skims. Even though Skims, I think, is a little bit overpriced. It is. In any case, it seems like a miscalculation. And she says, in terms of what we are dropping, I want it to feel more elevated, focusing on quality, focused on producing more of our collection and less skews, meaning less individual products and more, you know, quality products. So the Greedys, the Greedys, Emma Greedy, I never know how to pronounce this, her and her husband were involved in the incubation of Kai, but transitioned full leadership control of the brand to Jenner a year after launch.
36:29Is this why it's flopping? Yeah, yeah. Because Emma Greedy is behind the success of so many of the Kardashian brands. Right, good American, yeah. Yeah, so Kylie controls the company and the brand continues to grow under her creative direction and leadership, but they declined to share revenues to Vogue and is yet to be valued publicly. But according to them, they made$1 million in the first hour after its launch in 2023, quote unquote. You can say anything, by the way, when you disclose that stuff, when you're a private company. But I wanted to actually just look back because we did an episode on Patreon that's going to launch tomorrow that Sophie led about us trying Alex Earl's Real Active skincare brand.
37:08And that's live on patreon.com slash snarkbait pod tomorrow. But in any case, we talked about how apparently sales for Real Actives hit$1 million, same as Kai, in under five minutes on launch day. And so you're saying Kai made$1 million in the first hour after its launch in 2023. I find that so hard to believe. So you're basically telling me both brands within an hour, I'll be Alex Earl apparently hit that in five minutes. Kai hit that in 60 minutes. You're telling me that both brands made a million dollars in the first hour. I really doubt that. I know for a fact, Alex Earl, that makes sense to me.
37:43A million dollars in sales in five minutes. Yeah. And it's skincare. Yeah. And it's skincare. What are people buying from Kai? Right. I just, I don't know. That made me like pause for a second. Yeah. I don't know about that. I completely agree. And I think, you know, let's just say Kai is a flop. just like Kylie Swim, Kylie Skin, Kylie Baby, Sprinter, which we will get into. I just, like she does, Kylie Cosmetics was her real house. Yeah. And it seems like she barely even talks about or promotes Kylie Cosmetics anymore. Never. She's over it. Why? Why move the clothing? Even in the photos in the Vogue article, she's not wearing clothing.
38:24She's topless wearing these jeans. And apparently she doesn't want to be seen in her clothing in real life. I just, I don't know. I feel like it's just so misguided. And it's also so interesting that someone can have so many followers and be so famous and have a good amount of influence, but not have the power to make people buy something. It doesn't convert into a sale. Yeah. And I think that when you think about Haley Bieber's road, because that's so in the I guess right now, whatever Hailey Bieber did, it is completely turned into a different phenomenon. And at the end of the day, if we just think about Kylie Cosmetics and Rode, which by the way, I was, I was ideating on Patreon episodes I wanted to do.
39:08And I was like, Silicon Valley secrets. That's what I was going to say at the top of the episode, talking about Jeff Bezos and just talking about tech and how much scandal there is in tech. I was like, maybe I could do an episode on that. But then I was like, maybe I want to do an episode on like the marketing that is Rode v kylie cosmetics because at the end of the day they're the same shit like they're probably not made of like the best quality of ingredients like it's just pretty drugstore type celebrity brands that have really great marketing and therefore sell really well as it pertains to road but like what about it is not hitting for people kylie cosmetics because like you said it was her biggest brand in 2016 it sold out like real actives with like in five minutes something is not landing with her audience despite her being as relevant as ever I think even with her relationship with Timothee Chalamet she's always on the tabloids and and Instagram and stuff but like something is not hitting it was like something about this the lips at the time in 2016 she her lips were like this whole conversation the scarcity marketing it was just the perfect storm to make the brand really successful and I think there was a path to continue its longevity and success.
40:17And she just has not done that. It's so interesting. It is really interesting. And I want to talk about her alcoholic seltzer Sprinter that was just launched a little over two years ago in March, 2024. And Sprinter is now being rebranded. They debuted this at Coachella Weekend One, I believe, into K2O, like H2O, K2O. Wait, I have a question really fast. Is Sprinter, that has always been her brand. She's not just the face of it. Like it's actually her brand. that she like owns that's what i thought it was because i i'm just confused about sprinter like i just i never understood sprinter like i never understood if it was like her brand or if she was just like representing it as like an ambassador um hold on i'm just looking it's yeah it says sprinter vodka soda variety eight pack by kylie jenner founded by an entrepreneur kylie jenner sprinter is a bold and juicy r2d vodka soda yeah so it is her brand it's not like see ew ew i hate that it's not like dave porno i think he's like an ambassador for high noon for example it's not that like this is her brand like kylie cosmetics yes okay so now sprinter is being rebranded into k2o and according to an article by hype bay they said filled by the principle that proper hydration allows you to look and feel your best kylie jenner has unveiled k2o by sprinter as an extension of her vodka soda brand sprinter k2o is rooted in functional hydration and beauty.
41:43As a beauty fan herself, Jenner acknowledges that healthy skin goes beyond our daily skincare routine. For its first launch, K2O is introducing the Advanced Skin Hydration Mix. Kylie Jenner says, beauty has always been at the center of everything I do and creating K2O by Sprinter feels like the natural next step. It's all about that glow that starts from within. Whether you're getting ready for a night out or taking a moment to reset the next day, K2O fits right into your routine. And I try to find, like when I go to Sprinter and I go to the website, it's now K2O by Sprinter. So it's not like they're two separate entities.
42:12It's literally a rebrand. It's a rebrand. She needs to stop with the trying to insert her name into everything that she does. The Kylie Swim, Kylie Cosmetics, Kylie Skin, or whatever, Kylie Baby. And then also Kai, and now K2O. Yes. I think part of the success with Skims and Good American and Road is that they don't have a celebrity's name on it. Right. It's almost embarrassing to be holding a Kylie Cosmetics that says like, well, even her products, the SKUs are named Kylie Liner. Like Kylie Mascara or whatever you want to call it. It's almost this like egotistical branding that she cannot escape the name.
42:53But I think that's what actually is hurting her. I think you're totally right. I think it's totally hurting her. And she's always - So interesting, these choices. Because Kris Jenner is smart. Like, where's Kris Jenner? And she's always inserting herself into the most oversaturated market. So she started Sprinter in 2024. White Claw, by the way, it's probably been, you know, around for decades, but it really came about in 2019. Like, I remember when White Claw first came out and that was in my partying days. We would drink White Claw all the time. And then there was Truly. And now there's like every alcoholic spritzer under the sun.
43:26And now you want to start an alcohol spritz brand in March 2024. Like, oversaturated. Liquid IV. founded in like 2011 by a college student now those uh hydration sticks are everywhere you have like noom you have water boy you have liquid iv now you have k2o what is going to have me purchase k2o opposed to liquid iv like why do you continue to go to these oversaturated markets just because you slap your name on it yeah it also feels like she's trying to shoehorn she's like okay so uh i have a beverage uh but like i'm known for like kylie cosmetics and beauty so like what if we did like that like she's trying to like turn something into something that it's not it wasn't supposed to be and it just it feels so like inorganic and bizarre like who is buying this i was thinking about this and you know how there's all those rumors that the kardashians have like a church in their name so then they can do like write-offs yes i don't even think that's a rumor I thought that was like proven.
44:27Yeah, I think it is proven. But I genuinely do think that Kylie lives such an extravagant lifestyle. I would probably say more than any of her sisters. I remember there was an episode on Keeping Up way back in the day when Kim said, me and the sisters are going to have a sit down like intervention with Kylie because she's spending too much. Like it's out of control, her spending habits. And it's turning into a problem. So, I mean, she was also really young then. She's grown up a lot. but I genuinely feel like these businesses are tax write-offs for her so she can reduce her income as much as possible.
45:01Like, I think that's what's behind it. I don't think her plan is intended to even be profitable. It's to have a tax write-off. That's the only thing, the reason this makes sense. Otherwise, why do you keep having brand after brand flop? It's not normal. Like you said, we did an entire episode on not one, but two, but several of her brands that have started and then shuttered within the first year. It makes no sense. It's crazy. So that's why I think. I don't know enough about like taxes to know how that would be like beneficial. But like, I'm sure it is. Well, like in Orange County, it's very common where you have a lot of entrepreneurs in Orange County and the husbands will have their wives start these businesses so that they can get a larger tax write-off so that their adjusted gross income goes down.
45:46Like it's a very known hack for people to do. And I have no doubt Kylie is doing some sort of, and they probably have like the best CPAs working for them to find loopholes and everything. That's what I think is happening. Damn. That is interesting. Amazon presents Jeff versus Taco Truck Salsa. Whether it's Verde, Roja, or the orange one. For Jeff, trying any salsa is like playing Russian roulette with a flamethrower. Luckily, Jeff saved with Amazon and stocked up on antacids, ginger tea, and milk. Habanero? More like Habanier, yes. Save the everyday with Amazon. Spring just slid into your DMs.
46:33Grab that boho look for that rooftop dinner, those sandals that can keep up with you, and hang some string lights to give your patio a glow up. Spring's calling. Ross, work your magic. With Plan B Emergency Contraception, we're in control of our future. It's backup birth control you take after unprotected sex that helps prevent pregnancy before it starts it works by temporarily delaying ovulation and it won't impact your future fertility plan b is available in all 50 u.s states at all major retailers near you with no id prescription or age requirement needed together we've got this follow plan b on insta at plan b one step to learn more use as directed um okay can we i want to talk about real housewives of beverly hills i know you're not watching but essentially the entire season is predicated on the dissolution of kyle and dorit's friendship and at the end of the day i have to say i side with dorit but that's not to say that dorit is a freaking monster okay she's so hard to defend but i think at this point kyle's grievances against Dorit can no longer be hidden behind.
47:46It's so clear Kyle despises Dorit. She keeps like trying to act as if there's like a reason for her concerns about Dorit's behavior, her erratic behavior, when in fact, Kyle has always hated Dorit. And I think she's been praying for Dorit's downfall ever since Dorit stood up for Kathy in Aspen. Remember that? Were you watching Beverly Hills at this time? When they were in Aspen? Yes. Was this during the tequila fight? Yes. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I do remember that. Kathy Hilton got mad at Rinna because Rinna wanted to purchase 818, a shot of 818 tequila. And Kathy Hilton was like, no, purchase Paris Hilton's tequila, whatever.
48:24And they got in a fight and apparently Kathy had a huge meltdown at the club because they refused to play Michael Jackson. And her and Rinna went home in a Sprint for Van. This was not filmed, but Rinna claims that Kathy absolutely lost her shit. Like she went, like she went insane. And Rinna's like, it made me feel unsafe. I had to lock myself in my room. and at the reunion, Dorit apparently, from my recollection, she stood up for Kathy or told Kyle, hear Kathy out. This is where she's coming from. And I think Kyle did not like that Dorit was standing up for her sister because when it comes to Kyle versus her sisters, if you go against her in a fight with her sister, she will never forget it.
49:01She files that shit away and she will use it against you in future reunions and future episodes. Oh my God, yeah. And in Kyle's mind, she's like, all Dorit cares about is social climbing. She just wants to be invited to Kathy Hilton's famous, like fancy parties but I also yes but I also think that there was something to be said about Kyle having some kind of hatred towards Dorit because of all the rumors about Mo and Dorit that's what I was wondering I could that be at the root of it yes I think that Kyle will never admit it and it's probably something that Kyle may herself may not even be fully aware of if you were to ask her I'm sure she would say those are rumors I talked about it with Mo they're not true but remember how rampant those rumors were when kyle and maurice seal were still together like it was everywhere there were even rumors that they were like having an affair i don't i like want it to be like i like kind of ship them i kind of do too but if you watch this season to read and mo go head to head because oh they do because it's very clear that mo and pk are aligned because they're best friends they go out oh yeah they party together and to reach like baby when it comes to the kids he doesn't want to see them and mo's like i don't know what you're talking about like i see the text messages dorit like he they hate each other accent you just gave mo yeah they go toe to toe i don't know what you're talking about yeah and he's like hi when they're at lunch but yeah yeah i think that dorit is fully aware of all the little tricks that kyle has up her sleeve and now erica and sutton are now going against dorit and in dorit's mind she's like i know your little tricks we did this to everyone else when i was your little sidekick your little minion and now I see exactly what you're doing you're telling Erica and Sutton to go after me and I'm so over it and I think that um it's really hard though to defend Dorit I think despite all this I'm fully on Dorit's side because I see why she's so angered by Kyle it's not just over the fact that Kyle's not supporting her and her divorce with PK it's the fact that she knows what Kyle is trying to do and she's trying to pick Dorit as erratic as possible as like a not a good or a reliable narrator.
51:05And Dorit's like, I'm not going to have you paint me out as crazy. Like it goes so deep seated and so far back in their relationship. It's irreparable in my opinion. But at the same time, it's so hard for me to defend Dorit when she is acting a little bit odd this season and she is spending out of her means. And I think what Kyle was really trying to say to her, despite it not landing well, is you're going through a crazy divorce with PK. Your house is in foreclosure. Why the hell are you going to love Shaq Fancy and spending$4 ,500? like it's not$4 ,500 at Love Shack Fancy yes why I and I like Love Shack Fancy but like how like how many like little like floral like ruffle dresses are you buying right and she's like Kyle you have to remember like Rachel had her friend closed down the shop no one else was buying anything and I had to buy something I was being polite which okay that's like nice of you but You don't need to spend$4 ,500 to make, you know, a little much.
52:01But it's hard because Dorit shows up so late to every event. And this has always been a thing on Dorit's storyline. She's always been late. She's always too busy taking selfies and getting glam to show up on time. But there have been instances this season where they're on the tarmac on a private jet. Dorit has shown up an hour and a half late without an apology. Oh, my God. It's hard. She's still doing that? She's still doing this. Oh, God. That's why Kyle is calling her erratic on camera. She's like, she stumbles in super late, super disheveled because she was late. Her face, full glam hair, fully done.
52:36And Kyle's like, it's rude. And that's why Erica was coming after her. Erica was like, you act like your time is more important than us. Why were you late today, Dorit? And Dorit goes, I was talking to my kids. She goes, we all have kids. You could have just texted me saying, hey, I'm running five minutes behind. Be right down. But no, you just, you're an hour late to every function. It's rude. so at the same time it's like i get why erica is frustrated with dorit and i have to say i stand 10 toes down on erica's side when it pertains to dorit because erica has a point now do i send 10 toes down against kyle coming for dorit no because i think that kyle her tricks cannot be ignored anymore we as viewers are tired of kyle controlling the show and i think i think that kyle at some point is going to be asked to leave like she has i was gonna say what do you think of the rumors Or is that this is like Kyle's last season?
53:22I think the audience is demanding it. And I think Andy won't let it happen because Andy loves Kyle. God. And when Andy stands behind a housewife, they typically last as long as they want to. Yeah. Crazy. Crazy. This isn't giving me any like FOMO in terms of watching this season. I'm like, oh my God. It sounds like rinse and repeat. It is. So many past seasons. It really is. And I will say the first half of the season was not too good, but I actually quite enjoyed the second half. And it was so funny listening to Ben and Ronnie talking about this because Ben was standing up for Dorit. And no, Ronnie was standing up for Dorit and Ben was standing up for Erica.
54:06And they were going, they're like, how do you think I feel? I hate these women. Like this makes me want to cringe thinking about how we're talking about them and standing up for them. It hurts me to stand up for Erica. Okay. I hate it as much as the next person. I know. I know. like i'm looking at you differently dare i say she is the most balanced and fair person this season and i understand her pov i know that is shocking uh wow wow wow wow yeah everly hills you're not missing anything i know i'm like i really am not getting like too much fomo right now yeah unsurprisingly it's stupid but let's talk about deos and leos please so my dark energy object is not liking my outfit when I leave the house.
54:52Like, is there any worse feeling when you're just like, why did I wear this? I don't like my outfit. I just, even if I'm walking back, sir, I want to like, like what I have on. It just, I will always be in a bad mood if I don't like my outfit. A hundred percent. Look good. Feel good. Like if I don't like right now I look horrible. So I told Rachel, you feel horrible. Yeah. And this is an important, like this is because for work but like I this is just a lot going to happen today and I don't look good and I don't feel good okay you don't okay for the record you do not look horrible at all thank you but you don't see me in real life you're also like in in like a dark room right now yeah yeah my my friends were like your nose is peeling off why do you do that shit to your face because I got laser that's why I don't oh you got laser yeah that's why but anyways yeah so I don't look and I don't feel good so I completely resonate with what you're telling me.
55:44Yeah. Like is there's no worse feeling than not liking your outfit. Speaking of not liking your outfit, when you leave your house, my DEO is feeling a pimple form on your chin days before it actually erupts. Like when I know there's nothing you can do. Yes. When I'm like, Oh, a cystic pimple is forming on my chin and I know what's happening. And now it's here. And now I just like hate it. It's just, it's infuriating. Cause yeah, I can't do anything about it and now I just have this huge you just have to let it happen yeah that's mine um my leo is that trend on tiktok where you turn your text into gospel songs I don't think I've seen this oh I need to send it to you there have been so many edits of people uploading it I actually tried it with some with my friends yesterday it's an app called suno s-u-n-o you load in screenshots of your text messages and you tell it you prompt it I want you to turn this into a dubstep song into a folk song into a pop song someone do this to like a rock song they yeah they turn a text and do a rock song yeah yeah and there's one like a punk rock like for like think of like uh like thrice or the use like that type of songs it's really funny but i was posting a song a song of like a snark bait chats it's so funny i need to send it to you guys but that's one trend that I really like.
57:03A second one is I put this on my story on Friday. I was like, I hate going on TikTok because then I think I need all these like things like nano brows or lip blushing. And so many people, so many baby snorkels DM me, they are so sweet. They sent me photos and videos. They're like lip blushing changed my life. I like always still put together when I leave the house. Do you know what lip blushing is? Yeah. It's when you blush your lips. It's like a little, not a procedure, but it's like a thing you get done. Yeah. Yes. It's like a tattoo on your lips. Yeah. Yes. Your lips. Yeah. And so many baby snarks was like, we're like, this changed my life.
57:40Like, I can't believe you haven't done this yet. Really? Yes. Wow. That kind of makes me want to do it. So many girlies sent me before and after photos. Shout out to Katie. She's a friend of the pod. I don't know her, but she's always DMing us. And I feel like we're, we're friends. She literally sent me a full video. She's like, hi, Christy. This is what the procedure was like, like so detailed. failed and now I'm like I need to get it wait guys do we need to get lip blushing that's what I wanted to do and then I was like I want to do it before the live show I'm like absolutely not actually because then I'm gonna come out I'm not letting myself do anything before the live right because I feel like I'm gonna end up like fucking up my face totally um but wow I know it's so funny how we're like oh my god social media is so toxic but like we're we're the victims of it we're like no I need lip blushing yeah and then there's all these other procedures I'm not gonna get any of these like the ones I'm I don't want to put air to it or air time to it but I was like what about this what about this my friends were like you need to stop like this is not what you need to do oh my god it's so crazy like I'm a grown woman why am I susceptible to TikTok making me feel insecure about not having blushed lips oh but I did I did actually get influenced by a TikTok ad slash video and I have never bought anything from TikTok shop because I like I'm scared of it I'm like, what's going to happen with my credit card information?
58:59I don't know. I get scared of it. Totally. But the product was a Metacube face mask. And I like Metacube. I like All K Beauty pretty much. From what I've used of Metacube in the past, I like. But the video was such a good ad. And I got this mask. I ended up buying it from Amazon. And it really works, you guys. Like, it literally, like, in the video on TikTok, like, you could see everything come out of this guy's pores basically doing this mask. And it worked. It literally worked. My face was so clear afterwards. Everything had been excised from my pores. Is that the two masks? Is that what you got?
59:35No, no, no. It's a clay mask that you just put on. Got it, got it, got it. You just put on it and you leave it on for 10 minutes, let it dry, and then you wash it off. Gotcha. I think it's just called Metacube clay mask. It's in a blue bottle. Highly recommend. I actually was going to recommend it in our newsletter. We have a Substack, you guys, if you're not signed up for it, that goes out every Friday with like recommendations for things that we're liking and things that we're laughing at and things that we're rolling our eyes at and some hot takes. So sign up for that in our show notes. Reality recaps as well.
1:00:05Yeah. Reality recaps. Yeah. So that that's an LEO is that face mask. Also, I wrote this down, liking my outfit when I leave the house. Great feeling. Look good, feel good, baby. Look good, feel good. And then also I talked about this at the top of the episode, Devil Wears Prada 2. I highly recommend you guys. It's gotten really rave reviews from what I've seen online. It just made so many pertinent, you know, it had a lot of pertinent themes about AI and the media industry. And as someone that has worked in the media industry and is really, really, really sad about the downfall of magazines, it just felt very timely and loved it.
1:00:47So everyone go see that. And our first live show is next week, which I cannot believe in LA, Friday, May 15th. So freaking excited. It's going to be the best time ever. Trigger warning, Ryan Bailey will be joining us and it's going to be so much fun. I'm like, I can't believe it's already here. So I still don't know what I'm wearing, by the way. No, why don't you wear the thing you sent us? Because no one, I said it in the group chat and Christy is the only one that reacted. and the fact that Olivia and Rachel didn't react made me self-conscious and think that they didn't like it. And I think that was their way of showing me that they didn't like it, which I understand.
1:01:24I can understand why someone didn't like it. It was like Friday night though. So they probably didn't even see and they forgot to respond. Did you have Henry take a photograph of you in it? Don't trust the mirrors. I ordered some other options. So TBD and what I'll be wearing, but that's not important. What's important is that we have so many amazing segments ready. It's going to be so freaking funny. There's one in particular I know that Christy and I are so excited for. Which one? There's two. Which one? The Would You Rather is going to be so funny. And we're also doing a segment called Things We Can't Say on the Pod for legal reasons.
1:01:58So it's going to be hotter takes than you will hear on the podcast. We're taking away all your phones so you can't. I'm totally kidding. I'm totally. No, just kidding, you guys. Collect the phones at the door. Yeah, I'm totally kidding. No, this is not the comedy seller. It's not that serious. but we hope to see you there.
