0:00As a proud auntie to the newly one-year-old Miss Mo, I take my role very seriously. I may not be responsible for keeping her alive, but I am responsible for being her favorite and gifting her amazing pajamas. And here's the thing, if there's anything I know about Miss Mo and other babies in general, if they're uncomfortable, they will let you know. And that's why I and my sister and Miss Mo are obsessed with little sleepies. First, the fabric. It's so soft, I literally want to wear it myself. They're also designed with thoughtful little details that make getting dressed easier instead of a full contact sport.

0:35You're welcome, Audrey. Also, their pieces grow with your kid, which is huge. Because every time I see Miss Mo, she's somehow a completely different size? Little sleepies actually last, so you're not replacing everything every five minutes. Which, as someone who buys the cute stuff, I deeply appreciate. Welcome back to another episode of Snarkbait. I'm Christy. I'm Sophie. What's our tagline? Everyone loved it, Sophie. Oh, did people like it? I feel like it hasn't really caught on. uh we're the podcast that's extremely online so you don't have to be boom i love it we had we had some comments that people were saying i like the tagline it's fun oh thank you guys thank you so much uh christy how how we doing how are we doing oh well uh i'm doing okay yeah it's uh it is friday the 13th spooky oh my god it is are you superstitious yeah i'm very superstitious i mean we both are because we're Jewish and Chinese respectively.

2:47Yep. Yep. I don't like to walk under ladders. I don't like anything cracked. Very superstitious. Also, Mercury's in retrograde. No wonder. I have just, yeah, I was telling Sophie off mic that we've had people come into town all week from work. And so I've just been like at a dinner, at a lunch, at a dinner, at a lunch, at a dinner. Like all we've been doing is schmoozing. So we're doing a bit of a marathon recording today three episodes in a single day and i love picturing you entertaining clients it's not like clients it's more like internal people but there's like we're working with a like a new york-based ai company so i'm like talking with them but yeah it's it's too much like i'm an introvert at heart truly i would be so bad in a client-facing job so bad yeah no i'm not really client-facing either but like interacting with third-party like but still having to like yeah having to interact with people i don't have to really interact with people in my job no you know you would be good no you're a schmoozer i don't know if i am i really respect like the sales people out there that are really good with like like my sister shout out mandy yeah she'll you know take out clients to dinner and you know wine and dine them like that takes a lot of a lot of skill can you guys give me some tips on how you keep like you keep the pace because I think when you have these marathon weeks, I just find myself getting so lethargic.

4:10And also when you're out like eating with coworkers and stuff, like you have to enjoy the food, you have to engage in conversation. Like how do you guys keep pace so that you can move on to the next day? Because I'm struggling a little bit being at the end of the week. So let me know your tips. I asked a couple of my podcast friends and they recommended like raspberry tea, raspberry leaf tea, L-theanine for focus like some supplements some b12 some magnesium things like that so I take supplements kind of but I'm not great at it like I'm not a girl who has like the pillbox with like 5 million things you know oh same I try to take my supplements but like it's not something that I regularly remember to do but I've also had like a marathon week where I've had something like every day and this is actually my light energy object is forcing yourself to hang out with friends and go out, even if it's the last thing you want to do, because I've been exhausted all week.

5:03My social battery has been zapped. But like you have to make an effort. Otherwise, you know, those friendships, friendships take effort, basically. So I've been forcing myself to not forcing myself. Like I love hanging out with my friends, but I've just packed so many plans into my past few weeks. And oh, I saw this tweet that I really like. It says everyone wants a village, but no one wants to be a villager. Drive your friends to the airport, go to their party even when you're tired, stop canceling last minute, host at your place, support the wins and losses. It's worth every ounce of effort, which I thought was really interesting.

5:38I feel like I've shifted my perspective because I feel like for so long I'm like, oh my God, I need to prioritize my mental health and I'm tired, which is also fair and true. Like, yes, prioritize your own. If you are, you know, burnt out, please, by all means, stay in. I feel like I did that a little too much for the past few years. Yeah. No, I totally get that. It's so much easier to like just say I'm comfortable right now. I don't want to get up. I don't want to leave the house. But I do feel like the juice is worth the squeeze. And I came across something online of someone talking about how even though something may feel like an inconvenience to you, like showing up to a baby shower or showing up to someone's birthday party when you're just super tired from the week, like you'll always come back more refreshed.

6:23And I feel like it takes little effort to be like a good person to show up for your friends. And I feel like it's, and that'll just come back and it'll reciprocate. So I feel like it's good that you're getting yourself out there and you're going outside and you're hanging out with friends, even though it's winter in New York City and it's cold. Well, it's been actually full spring, as they say, which is the fake spring before real spring. So it was like 70 degrees and sunny for like two days in a row, which was incredible. I actually laid out on my balcony with Baxter, which was really nice. But now it's back to being winter.

6:57It was snowing yesterday. Yeah. Yeah. So, Chrissy, you would never survive New York winter. No. I can't even handle when it's—I can barely handle San Francisco when I live there. Like it's too cold. It didn't even snow. Did I ever tell you—I definitely told you the story when I visited my friend in San Francisco. and I was like, oh, it's like July in California. And I packed all like shorts and t-shirts. No, SF is consistently cold. There's never a warm day, except in like one, a couple of weeks in September. Oddly enough, fall in SF is the warmest part, season of the year. I feel like California is like a different country than the rest of the country.

7:33Just, it's like so beautiful. The climate is so interesting. The coasts are so otherworldly. And then you have like the rest of the country, and then you have Ohio. Okay, now that you're saying that, do you remember that Patreon episode that we did about our dating misadventures? Yes, that was one of our first Patreons, obviously. It's one of our first Patreons. I'm Nick Lachey, obviously. Obviously, Nick Lachey. And remember I talked about that one guy went on a date, like he flew to Carmel and we like spent a weekend together or whatever. Do you ever check up on like exes or like people you've dated to be like, oh, have they had a wedding?

8:09Like, are they married? Do they have babies? Oh, so I actually still follow on Instagram a lot of guys that I used to date or hook up with when I was pre-Henry, when I was a single woman. And I also have, and this is so embarrassing to admit, let me know if you guys have done this too. I shouldn't even admit this because it's so embarrassing. I've searched like ones that I don't follow online that I remember their name. I'm like, I wonder what he's up to. I've Googled their name plus the term wedding website. No, same. So that's what I was getting at. No joke, Sophie. That's what I was getting at because a lot of these guys don't have social media.

8:47Like, so I can't even find them on Instagram. So I've done the same exact thing. So that's what I did with this one guy. And for the record, for the record, I'm very happily married. Christy, you can attest to that. Very happily married. Oh, no, it's completely just curiosity. Yeah, absolutely. I think every woman and man listening to this show, you guys are similar to us. Like, we're just perpetually online. We're just nosy in general. Yeah. So, like, we're going to go out and decide whether or not this person has gotten married. And then I need to know why that person I went to high school with got divorced.

9:19Oh, I've literally gone so far as to try and find, like, Orange County public record. Like, I was like, what was the reason for the divorce? No, that keeps me up at night. I'm being serious. I was like, I'll reach out to people from high school I haven't talked to in years. Hey, how's it going? Do you know why blah, blah, blah, blah, and blah, blah, blah broke up? I noticed that he's not living in this city anymore with her. Whatever. Oh, my God. What I'm getting to is that I found out, you know, this is the one time it worked. I typed in first name, last name, wedding. Love. All the photos came up.

9:51Oh, my God. Yep. I had myself like, you know, 15 minutes just scrolling. It was lovely. You know, I was just like, I'm so happy. Was his wedding like published in a publication? or was it like his engagement photos on his wedding website? It was the wedding photos from the photographer. Oh, like the photographer had like an album on their website. Mm-hmm. So I had a time. I was like, oh my God, this, I was like, wow, he looks great. A little bit older, a little bit more salt and pepper, but. Good for him though. I'm so happy for him, you know what? Happy ending. As long as he deserved, did he deserve a happy ending?

10:21I forgot. It's fine. Like, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I don't have issues. I don't take issues. Was he the one who, am I allowed to say the welcome party theme? Oh. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever. Don't say it, but yes. Oh, never mind. I won't say it. Okay, sorry. No, but like, yes. A very interesting welcome party theme. I remember you telling me about him. Well, because it was in New York, New York, not New York City, New York State, I think. And I sent stuff. I was like, hey, have you heard of this? And she goes, huh, I would never do it myself, but it's fine.

10:51Not only my style, but that seems like it's fine. Oh, my God. Wait, can I tell them the story about the credit card? Oh, yeah. yeah yeah okay so sophie and i we wanted to gift one of the girls on our team something so sophie's like oh should i use like my personal business you can use the business card it's fine so sophie goes yeah don't worry i got i got it taken care of as you know do you have her address i said yep have her address whatever so sophie's like yep got it on it so we're sophie goes you know you sent me the business credit card a couple weeks ago and i have yet to activate it i was like oh you can call like the number on the back of the car she goes yep done activated all set and ready to go.

11:25I'll buy it right now. So she texts me and she goes, hey, like it's not working. So I'm going to use my personal credit card. I was like, oh, OK. But did you call the number? She goes, yeah, I did. I did. I'm waiting until Henry gets home because I don't know why it's not working. It's just weird. And I was like, oh, OK, well, I guess use a personal credit card, whatever. I'm going to call their help desk later. Like, it's fine. And I was like, wait, wait, wait. wait, did you put in like my zip code? Because it's associated to my address. No, I put my New York City address. Is that a problem? I was like, wait, no, no, no.

12:01Since when does billing address actually matter? You cannot convince me that billing address actually matters. She literally verbatim goes, I didn't know a billing address like had any relevancy to the credit card. Honestly, like I feel like you could make up a billing address and your credit card would still work. So I was like, oh, no, no, no. You got to use like my address. Well, that's definitely the problem because I activated it. I switched between the Sophie boys of like the California Valley girl. Two in one episode. By the way, Carl Radke's podcast, More Life, I feel like it's been coming up on my FYP and I'm like, good for him.

12:37He's kind of getting the juice. I have not listened yet, actually. Let us know, you guys. I saw that he interviewed Sierra and it seems like a really good interview, but I have not had a chance to give it a listen. I've just seen some highlights and some clips. um but i guess speaking of summer house should we jump into summer house please okay so the first thing that i want to say is that as you guys know i'm a certified west not hater i'm a west truther i see through the performance okay so his whole like i'm a little boy who doesn't know how crushes work thing like i'm not buying okay west only wants what he can't have and the fact that jesse was hanging on to Sierra last episode.

13:18Now he's like, oh shit, my boy is all over my ex-girlfriend. I'm putting that in quotes and now I got to jump back on it. Yes, exactly. Classic fuck boy. Yeah. So he, now he wants Sierra because Jesse is interested. And then also the fact, in my opinion, that he knows that the audience wants him to appreciate how amazing Sierra is because the audience did not like it when he basically disposed of her and trash talked her multiple times in front of the entire world. So I think it's all performative. Do I think that he's like actually in love with Sierra? No. No. Because he can't even say that he is a daytime crush on her.

13:56He calls it a nighttime crush. Like it's so obvious that he either just wants to hook up, satisfy the audience perception of him, and also win over Jesse, in my opinion. Yeah, I think you're spot on. And I think that West, I actually was thinking about it when I was watching the episode. When they're filming, if I were in Sierra's position, I would be like, are you doing this to like create the storyline? Because you know, that's what the audience wants to see, a reconciliation between the two of us. Like to me, you've talked about it so often. Wes knows exactly what he's doing. He's very, very intentional about what he shows on TV.

14:32And I feel like behind the scenes, he's probably dating so many girls. I mean, he's been spotted with like so many different women all over Dumois, like every other week. Him and Sierra clearly aren't together. And to me, the viewers on Bravo shipping them. I'm like, do you have? I sorry, I hate to say this, but like, Candace, you need to use discernment when it comes to Wes and Sierra. He knows exactly what he's doing when it comes to his storyline and pushing that storyline along, giving Sierra her flowers, knowing that she is so dreamy and such a dream girl, and he needs to win over his boy.

15:01Yeah. And it sounds like he doesn't make any effort when cameras aren't rolling. Like, it's literally only when they're in the summer house, when they're filming, that he shows any interest and that's why she's like okay what like Wes suddenly has a crush on me like what uh and then also I want to talk about Bailey versus Ben so that was I didn't like that I rewatched it this morning just to make sure I recollected this entire scene correctly did not like it so basically to recap uh Bailey made a bad joke at dinner because they were all going around at Amanda's birthday dinner saying things they love about uh Amanda and Ben goes well I'm a smile and eyes guy And Bailey goes.

15:39The place in your eyes were so deadpan while you did that. That was good. Was that good? Yeah, that was really good. Oh, my God. Australians weigh in. Australian. Yeah, let us know. Let us know. I'll see listeners. Australian accents are so fucking hard. Like, I can't even attempt to do it for longer than like three words. But anyway, Bailey jumps in and goes, oh, here we go. Ben's going to say that he wants to sleep with Amanda. Like, clearly a bad, awkward joke. But, like, is she wrong? because they included flashbacks of Ben definitely having a crush on Amanda. As we know, they went skinny dipping together in Italy.

16:14That's how they met. It showed him getting her a towel after, like, jumping in in her brown underwear, getting coffee for her. He clearly has a bit of a crush. And then the way that Ben overreacted and made her feel so much worse, she clearly felt embarrassed and apologized. And then he, like, kept, like, I don't know, digging his heels in about it. I thought was very bizarre. Yes, I felt very uncomfortable. It wasn't like Ben was raising his voice at all. It was this death stare that he was giving Bailey. It was so, it almost felt like emotionally violent is the only way I can describe it. His eyes were scary.

16:51No, they were. I could see red. And the only reason that reaction or her comment would have elicited that reaction is because he feels insecure that everyone else is catching on that he, in fact, does have a crush on Amanda. It was like the lady doth protest too much, you know? Exactly. And he even admitted on this episode, or maybe it was the one before, he's like, listen, I was dating this girl before filming. I told her I wanted to have fun over the summer and we can reconvene. And she was like, what are you talking about? I'm not someone that's going to wait for you after you're done filming.

17:19He's such a fuckboy. And I was listening to Watch What Crappens and they were like, he had a girlfriend the entire time. He was just cosplaying as a single guy so that he could be on the show. Like, I don't find Ben authentic at all. And the fact that he was even The Bachelor at one point, you're thirsty. So it sounds like the girl that he was referring to is the same girl that he's currently dating. Oh. I don't know, though. Like, I'm asking, like, is that the case? Because if he had a girlfriend all while filming and he's talking about this girl that he really liked, but, you know, he wanted to be single for the summer.

17:52Yeah. Whatever it is, it's not a good look. Like, let's say he didn't have the girlfriend the entire time of filming. he still left this flame that he really cared about to film and have a good summer. And like, I don't know, I something about him feels very disingenuous. I don't even know how he really came upon this group, to be honest. And I feel like before this last episode, he was just kind of there, a handsome fella, had an accent. It was kind of, you know, he was an okay addition. After this, he just, I don't know. I feel like the good thing about Summer House is these men are usually, I don't want to say like respectful of women.

18:24They're no Southern charm. Like I feel like for the most part they're they're fun they have real relationships with the women on the cast ben doesn't feel like he respects women that that felt angry they don't usually yell at women the way that craig conover does right unless i mean i guess kyle co yes that's yeah i mean it's i think if we like it's the better of both evils i would say but yeah we're thinking about craig and that's also a show we're going to talk about as well the bars and hell but you guys know what we mean like Southern Charm is far worse when it comes to men speaking to women than Summer House's.

18:57And I feel like Ben better belongs on a show like Southern Charm than he does on Summer House. Oh, that's the ultimate diss. Shots fired. I also want to talk really quickly about Kyle literally at Amanda's birthday dinner talking about not having the money to invest in Softbar, even though he says Carl invested$15 ,000 in Loverboy. And look, like no one is legally required to invest in anything. especially like I feel like Kyle and Carl's friendship is probably not what it was at the time that Carl invested in Loverboy if I'm being honest because remember how Kyle was demoted to Flower Boy during what would have been Carl and Lindsay's wedding so I don't think it's that big of a deal in my opinion and it's also very clear that Loverboy is not doing well so I totally believe him that you know he's like I just don't have the funds and also like at the time, everyone was like, soft bar is a stupid idea.

19:51Soft bar seems to be doing well, but like no one thought it was going to be like, you know, successful. I mean, jury's still out if it is, honestly, but seems to be doing well. But in that same breath, he whips out a$9 ,000 Cartier watch for Vanta. And then he's like, look, everyone, look, husband of the year. Did you see that? You can tell. And I like that you wrote this out on the note. He made the watch gifting moment all about him. It was not about Amanda getting what she wanted. Rather, it was like, look how good of a husband I am. Yes. Because also I was like, why are you giving this in front of everyone?

20:26First of all, you were just talking about how, you know, you had to invest$500 ,000 in Loverboy and therefore you did not have the money to invest in Softbar. And oh my God. And then also like giving a luxury gift to your spouse seems like something that's like a private moment. Agreed. And not, and shouldn't be like a group dinner. unless you're pk and you gift a re like a maserati pk me and pk were both were uh i'm in florida with the kids and the grandparents but no i i think that kyle made that moment all about him and yeah amanda made a comment on the episode now that i got the watch i can leave him and yeah love that yeah people were saying she knew after filming she was done with this relationship.

21:12That was her Freudian slip. I love that.

27:15Bravo. Can we talk about Southern Charm? I have to admit, I really like Sally. Like, I know that's a hot take because I know that she's one of the most hated women on Bravo right now. People find her creepy, weird, throwing herself at men. And yes, all those things are true. But I think we got to bring back authenticity to our reality TV screens. And while I do think she has all those things, I really respect her for being honest. I do think she's hamming it up for the camera. or so, 1 million percent. When she was left at that Carolina Day party and Austin was like through the gate, she was like, I like you.

27:50Why was that so cinematic? It was so cinematic because it was like the lights were like up on her face. And he was like through the fence, like holding the fence. Yeah. But he even made a comment, I think recently of Sally and I are not as hot and heavy as she's leading you to believe. Oh, he said that recently? Yes. Yes. Because they've been filming TikToks and they have been hanging out but i feel like sally is playing into the storyline that was you know filmed however many months ago for cameras right now even though it's probably like a friendship friends with benefits thing but i think if they really were dating we would know about it by now i mean i feel like it's like pretty obvious that he's like he doesn't see her as a real prospect agree you know he i don't think he has like unfortunately the most respect for her it seems like and I think it's because she throws himself at him yeah uh but okay so Sally I I totally see what you're saying with Sally because I actually do appreciate she's a chaos agent we talk all the time about how chaos agents are sometimes a necessary evil for Bravo shows um Kristen Doty is one Lindsay Hubbard is one Lindsay obviously has calmed down a lot this season since becoming a mom to baby Gemma yeah but uh Ramona Singer I feel like is when I'm re-watching Brony as you guys know i feel like ramona is such a chaos agent so i feel like uh sally definitely falls into that category because she has this kind of like lack of self-awareness she is like not so aware of the cameras in my opinion and you you said you're like i feel like she's playing it up a little bit which i do agree with to some extent but i don't think she's trying to like manage audience like perception of her which i feel like a lot of i feel like heather gay is a good example of that in Salt Lake City.

29:35There are a lot of people that you can tell that they're like very, very, very careful. Heather Dubrow as well. Yeah, West Wilson. That's my criticism of West. So I love how, you know. Paige, Disorbo. Paige, yeah. I love how authentic she seems to be. Doesn't really give a fuck if the audience likes her or not. I will say, don't love how she gave away the chickens. I mean, I'm glad that they're, you know, in a better place except the one that got eaten by a snake, apparently. Oh my God. Yeah. Yeah. Like, it makes me sad when, like, real animals are involved in someone's bullshit. Yeah. I mean, you can't just rehome something when it becomes inconvenient.

30:12Adopting animals is a commitment, period. It, like, makes me really sad for the chickens. And I know that I'm not, like, a vegetarian. So does that make me a hypocrite? I don't know. No, I don't think it does. But, like, chickens as—like, if you're getting a chicken as, like, a pet, then, like, that's your child now, in my opinion. Right, right. I was actually kind of shocked that she decided to show that. Like film that. I don't know. It made me really upset. But I will say also that I really grew to like Charlie this season a lot. I loved how she dumped Craig at the end. Like obviously that made me really happy.

30:47Yeah. Wait, but I have something to say about that breakup. What? Do you feel like they were leaving their story open-ended because it seemed like they still had this like fire for one another even when she was breaking up with him? Oh my God. I completely disagree. Really? I think, if anything, what I thought you were going to say is that it was never real for her to begin with. Because you see in the reunion preview that, like Sally, I think it is, says, Charlie, you were talking to other guys while you were dating Craig. And Craig goes, you were leading me on. Yeah, I did see that. And she was like, we went on two dates.

31:21So I think that she was never fully that interested in him to begin with. I think maybe it was like a storyline. but I love that she drew the line either way at the Mexico incident where he screamed at Sally like she was like uh no like we're just friends now purely just friends um and of course his first reaction is to blame Sally for Charlie dumping him even though Charlie dumped him because of his behavior and it wasn't anything Sally did zero yeah and I loved did you love how Austin called him out on that. Yeah. He was like, you can't look at yourself in the mirror. You can't be honest with yourself.

31:58There's no self-awareness. Yep. And I feel like the reason why Craig can't have so much beef with Austin is because Austin behaves as a mirror towards his behavior. Austin is no longer letting him get away with the things he's historically gotten away with on this show. He is the main character. People do give him a lot of grace, including Andy Cohen. But I was really proud of Austin for literally calling it as he saw it and as the audience sees it and has been seeing it. Yeah. He called him out for having an anger problem, never knowing how to take accountability. And I was like, oh my God, I feel like you're being a proxy check.

32:28Yeah, being a proxy for the audience right now. Like I really appreciate that. And I feel like that's why I always have a little bit of a soft spot for Austin compared to at least, you know, I mean, the bars in hell for Southern term guys. Between Shep, Craig and Austin, Austin definitely is far more grounded in reality. And Craig has, we've said this so many times on this show, especially this season, The mask has slipped. He was on his best behavior with Paige, and I think he's really going through it with his breakup. And I think that at this point, I understand when you're going through something difficult, whether it be a breakup, a family issue, problems will—feelings, really difficult feelings are going to start bubbling up.

33:05But it's up to you as an adult man who's 36, 37 to really, like, process those feelings and not let them lash out in a way that is violent and scary. The way that people have deemed him, quote unquote, scary across many seasons, you have a problem. Like if we can see it on film, I don't even want to know what they're seeing behind, like what we're not seeing. You know, he's a scary person. And that's definitely why Paige left him. And do you remember last season when Paige made a comment, just remember if I ever need to, you know, escape with kids. Leave in the middle of the night. Yep. She's alluding to the fact that he gets scary when he drinks.

33:38Yeah. Yeah. And remember that one DM we got from someone who DMed with Paige and said, you inspired me to break up with my alcoholic boyfriend. And Paige said, you know, I kept picturing me and my kids upstairs while he's downstairs drunk. And I think that his alcohol problem, his anger issues definitely had something to do with her choice to leave him. But also in the reunion preview, didn't you love how he's like, I don't even know if I'm coming back anymore. Like threatening to leave the show as if he would ever leave the show. Like he is way too much of a narcissist. And he also it's like, what is sewing down south without the show?

34:17You made a comment a couple Dark Energy Tuesdays ago. And I've actually been thinking about it as I've been watching these shows about men on Bravo whose entire careers and life paths are altered the second that they get on reality television. And I think about, I juxtapose that with the women on Bravo and how they take their careers on reality television to like a whole different level by hosting and like ventures, like different independent ventures. Starting brands. Businesses, exactly. And I think with men, obviously the consumer economy or the creator economy is far different for women. But I think with men, they're not able to monetize in the same way that women are when they're on reality TV.

34:54So they actually just take a different path of more drinking, more partying, more women. Yes. And also it's because Bravo is such a women-centric network. Exactly. And these street guys are like, look at all these fans at BravoCon treating me like I'm, you know, Paul McCartney. No, yeah. Seriously. I love how you said Justin Bieber and I said Paul McCartney. Same thing. Same thing. I want to move on to this Timothee Chalamet situation because also the Oscars are this weekend. Should we? Okay, so we have a Patreon episode that we're recording after this. Should we do, and I'm talking to you like we're not on the mic right now, should we do an Oscars emergency press conference?

35:38I was going to say, should we do a business runners live chat? Ooh, that could be fun too. Okay, TBD, you guys, we will let you know at Snarkbait Pod what our Oscars coverage will look like because we definitely want to talk about that. because it did look like because it'll be in the past oh my god you're right yeah well i was regardless you guys i'm so stupid we're recording on friday march 13th like we said so we're in the past but hopefully you follow us at snarkbait pod because we will always post you know any sort of breaking emergency press conference any sort of patreon live chat on our instagram because sometimes those happen at the last minute in this case clearly um so we will have some sort of oscars coverage for you if it hasn't already happened right but he is getting a lot of heat and people are now saying this is going to impact his oscar awards do you think that i don't know how this works like did they already pre-select okay so oscar voting is done and oscar voting was done basically before this whole controversy was, which I think is really overblown, honestly.

36:45If you guys missed it, Timothy did like this interview with Matthew McConaughey where he said, I don't want to be, you know, in charge of reviving a dying art like opera and ballet that no one cares about anymore. And sorry if I offended you, though, that'll cost me about 84 cents in business. Like, yeah, it was like obnoxious. but also like he was making a point that like he doesn't want the movies to become a dying art and he's not wrong about like when was the last time you went to an opera or a ballet like unfortunately it's not you know and and the new york like opera house and the new york city ballet and all of these different like celebrities all came out and they were like have some respect timid doja cat and then doja cat was like i'm sorry for jumping on the bandwagon that was really performative of me because kind of the tide started to turn everyone was like he was making like a decent point it was just the delivery was kind of obnoxious like I feel like he it's a culmination of him being really cocky during his Marty Supreme tour and then also the Josh Safdie stuff where Josh Safdie was accused and Josh Safdie is the director of Marty Supreme and And there was a movie where an underage actress was basically assaulted during filming.

38:03And it was not. Like Marty Supreme? No, not Marty Supreme. It was another Josh Safdie movie. And Josh Safdie apparently did not yell cut or step in when this happened. And it was a whole expose that I think is more likely to affect the Marty Supreme. Not just Timothy's chances, but Marty Supreme in general. Um, so, yeah, I mean, I feel like it's kind of been blown out of proportion, but will his bad press in general, and I think also the Kylie Jenner relationship. Yes, I was going to say that. There's a chance that is like, according to Polymarket, at least, Michael B. Jordan is the favorite now to win.

38:38Yeah, I don't disagree. I think that his arrogance in that interview with Matthew McConaughey was very, very strong watching. and I was like, to your point, I'm like fearful that we're going to say this and people are going to say like, we love opera, we love ballet. We're not hating on these art forms at all. We're just saying it objectively. And this is the issue sometimes when you're a public figure, right? You can say one thing in an isolation if you're having a conversation with like coworkers or friends. I don't think anyone at a dinner would disagree with you by saying, oh yeah, like the opera is still alive and well.

39:07I think that it's just like more of a dying art. People aren't going as frequently unless you're like a member of the arts. And totally respect opera and ballet. Yeah, of course. We're going to have the people being like, You don't know Bobby Bones? No, I know. I'm like fearful to even say this because I'm like scared of what people are going to say. But like, I think you guys understand what we're saying. It's like if Tim DeChalombe was a co-worker and we were having dinner and he's like, oh, I'm glad that we're part of an industry accountancy. That's not going to die as quickly as opera ballet.

39:33You wouldn't necessarily get offended. But I think people are so quick to jump on a bandwagon and then they hate him already because he's dating a Kardashian. He was so arrogant on the press tour for Marty Supreme. He's becoming this arrogant actor that we can't relate to anymore. like off with his head. And it's like, I think we understood what he meant, but his delivery was undoubtedly arrogant and conceited. I mean, people's brains are broken. I feel like maybe ever since COVID. Yeah, great. Where it's just, we live in like a cycle of outrage culture. And do we play into it? Absolutely. We're not exempt from it, but it seems like, you know, that's.

40:07Yeah, it's like we're outraged constantly. You guys know we are. Yeah. So I feel like it's just the culture that we live in now is to find a new target every week. And not to say that I'm like, oh, poor Timothee Chalamet. He's going to be just fine. He's like the biggest movie star in the world. He's going to be fine. He will, if he doesn't win an Oscar for Marty Supreme, he will win an Oscar eventually. I guarantee it. Did you ever end up seeing Marty Supreme? No. So the character is not likable. And he's actually extremely, extremely grating and cocky. And so I feel like that was also like part of his press tour for the movie was him like being Marty Supreme and being this cocky character.

40:48A little bit method, I guess. I didn't see it as like super genuine. I thought it was kind of like a bit, honestly. So that's why I wasn't like average. And also I'm a diehard Timothy Chalamet stan. So like, I know that I'm probably like, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, but I'm curious to hear what you guys think about this whole scenario. Yeah, yeah. I think it's not as deep as I think people are as outraged as they are on the internet. I don't think it's as deep as that, but yeah. I put in my notes here, I'm like, do you know how many accountant jokes I like come astray? Like, accountants are boring.

41:19I don't, I never once have I gotten insulted. Or like people saying, pop culture is vapid. I don't take that personally. Okay. Like, if you think that that's your opinion, that's my opinion. Like, I don't care. Like, I just don't care what people have to say about it. Like, okay, well, then that's my opinion, but I don't care. There needs to be tariffs on podcasting equipment. Yeah. Like, if people were saying podcasts were a dying art, I wouldn't come on here and be like, yeah, I'd be like, okay, well, that's fine if you think that. but we're still, it's a business for us. I'm curious what you guys think.

41:46Also like the amount of people that are like a journalism degree, because I majored in journalism. Oh, what are you going to do with that? Exactly, exactly. It's like, you know how many strays that you and I hit for our line of work and I never once say that I get offended. It just is what it is. And jokes on you guys because AI can only do so much when it comes to the written word. Yeah, there you go. Exactly. claim. No, you know what I mean? I feel like the jobs that are being unfortunately taken by AI, I feel like a lot of them are the jobs that you would think were the safest to like engineering or like computer, like software.

42:27And all these jobs. And those were like the safe degrees to get that are the ones that are being. And then like the jokey degrees that everyone made fun of, like journalism for some reason ai has not been able to master the written word quite yet everyone knows when someone has written something in ai but either way nefarious yeah but i have to admit i do love myself some claude oh my god you and henry henry loves claude too no but it's like it's so good if you're in excel claude is like oh my god that's what henry's been doing with it he's like teaching it like how to like format and like spreadsheet things yes it is i've never seen anything like it like it's magic sorry a bit of a sidebar but yeah sorry about that sidebar about But anyway, speaking of like celebrities in the hot seat, I want to quickly talk about this Chapel Rhone thing.

43:12Did you see this? Yeah. I mean, when is she not in the hot seat, though? This is like every news story every week is Chapel Rhone pissed. Chapel Rhone ain't pissed. I feel like she really clearly hates being famous, I guess. Okay, so for context, she was at Paris Fashion Week and there were like two photographers taking pictures of her, two paparazzi. And I get that paparazzi are really obnoxious for celebrities and really invasive. There was one video recently of Dua Lipa and Callum Turner where these paparazzi were following them around Paris. And Callum was like, please leave us alone. And you could tell that it was really getting to them.

43:46So I completely understand that paparazzi are frustrating. Chapa was filming the paparazzi like with her cell phone instead of just like walking into the restaurant. Yeah, you hate us so much, but then you want to like take a TikTok with us. Like, what do you mean? It was like, just walk away, like walk inside. And I just, I don't know. There's something that I think is a little bit grating about the way that she acts like she she's always angry about the fact that she's famous, but she doesn't need to be famous. There is a world where you can make art anonymously. And also if you if you hate being famous and I saw this about like Joe Burrow, I remember the exact same.

44:24He went to Paris Fashion Week, but he complains about like he just wants his privacy. And I love Joe Burrow. It's like not a dig against him. And I love Chapeau Rohn's music. But it's like, if you hate being famous so much, then like, stay home. You don't have to go to Paris Fashion Week, you know? Yeah. And unfortunately, that's the price you literally have to pay to make as much money as every one of these celebrities are earning. Like, it just comes with the territory. And I understand you don't necessarily know or understand what it is like until you have to experience it yourself. And I have no doubt that it is so mentally taxing.

44:57But then at that point, it's like maybe, I don't know, the way that you engage with paparazzi, don't feed into it because then it's going to make you resign your job even more by like getting angry. She's putting too much energy, I think, in the anger of like her job. And I feel like if she were to just let it be, she would feel a lot more satisfied with the role. Of course, me coming from like I'm a nobody and saying this about her, I have no doubt it was like it will be so hard. But like Chapel, you feed into it, too. So I can't really feel too badly for you. Yeah, I kind of just miss when famous people like enjoyed being famous.

45:26Like they know that they have like the best gig. And I know obviously, again, like the paparazzi and the invasion of privacy would be so difficult. But like you got to be glamorous and wealthy and adored and all of these things that people dream about. You got to make your art and make millions from it. You get to go to like Paris Fashion Week. Like, I don't know. It just seems like just like enjoy it for what it is. Obviously, it comes with its cons, but there are so many pros. And it's just she always seems so miserable about the fact that she's famous, but she doesn't have to be. People were also saying, they're like, Chappell, you don't even know what it's like to be famous.

46:06Britney Spears. Yeah, I was going to say Britney Spears, 2005 to like 1999 to 2007. She couldn't even take a breath without the cameras like being up her nose. And it was like 40 paparazzi at once. She couldn't even go through a drive-thru without literally people like jumping on her windshield. Yeah, this was literally like one, maybe two paparazzi. Right. Like they have no idea. And I saw some tweets also that were like, Britney needed someone like Chapel. And it's like, what? No, like Chapel's not affecting any sort of change here. No, I agree. It just feels a little bit tired. I'm like, she is so talented and I absolutely love Chapel Rhone's music.

46:42But it almost she taints her image by being so like upset all the time. And I don't know. I think all of us are a little fatigued. This is another thing where I'm curious what you guys think. Yeah. About trouble. I think we don't feel as badly because it's like, look at the amount of money that you're earning. Right. And it's like you have the choice to not attend these high profile events if you hate it so much. Or higher security to literally. I remember when I went to the VMAs in 2012, 2011 as like a seat filler. When you saw Britney and Beyonce, you couldn't even see them because there was so much security surrounding them.

47:17Like you could see the top of their head. She has enough wealth, I assume, to maybe—she's not a Beyonce or Britney, but, like, you could earn some—you know, you have the funds to protect yourself. Oh, for sure. For sure. Okay, I really quickly want to touch on Alex Cooper hosting the Hannah Montana reboot. I'm curious what your thoughts are because I know that you watched Hannah Montana. I did not. So this reboot, to me, like, really has no relevancy in, like, my nostalgia or my mind. But for you, hearing that Alex Cooper is host of this reboot, what are your thoughts on that? I mean, I'm kind of just like, I'm so used to it at this point.

47:50It's like they don't realize that other media personalities exist. Like, I feel like Alex Cooper is literally just hired for everything, even though everyone I feel like unanimously agrees that she's not really good at her job. Okay, I'm so glad you're bringing this up because we talk about this all the time on the show. And there is this perspective that I came across that I was like, that makes so much sense. Alex Cooper was never positioned to be a Barbara Walters or a Diane Sawyer. She was never meant to disarm her interviewee. She was never meant to make them vulnerable. She was there to propose the softball questions to make it a really nice and safe environment for these celebrities to come on and promote whatever it is they're promoting.

48:28Like, she wasn't intended to be a good interviewer at all. It's just a safe space for celebrities. And I think that's why she is so successful. It's not for her interviewing techniques at all. It's to promote those softball questions. PR. Yeah. It's literally PR for celebrities. It's not, like you said, it's not going to be a Barbara Walter situation. It's literally just, what do you want to promote? What, you know, positive stories do you want to put out into the press? And, yeah, that's it. No follow-up questions, no hard-hitting, you know, questions. It's just, yeah. And I think that she is the best.

49:06When we hear the term industry plant, I think she actually is a very good, like, poster child for that. Because at the end of the day, it is. You don't have Kamala Harris or Michelle Obama or Hillary Duff people all saying go to Alex Cooper's, call her daddy, unless she wrote an industry plant. And again, I think Matt Kaplan has something, a huge part of that because he is so well-versed in the industry. I love how you just went Kamala Harris, Michelle Obama, Hillary Duff. No, what I mean by that is like the biggest political figures. No, but they are. They are. And then you have someone like random like Hillary Duff, you know, like she interviews all types of people.

49:42Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it's like, what do they all have in common? They all want to have their first interview with Alex Cooper? Like make it make sense. She's an industry plant. I think we can all agree on that. Did you also see that clip of her on the Burnouts podcast, which I think is like Bill Gates' daughters or whatever? Oh, my God. Yeah. You said it does. Wait, wait. If you want to work hard, if you don't want to work hard, then don't come to Unwell. And then someone, a baby snark, messaged us and she goes, why is this giving? Maybe if you had a business you were passionate about, then you know what it is.

50:08No, it literally does. It literally does. And also, like, why are you acting like Unwell is where people go to thrive? Like, all of these podcasts that went to Unwell, no one hears about them anymore. It's where podcasts go to die. And oh, this is the perfect segue, actually, into something that's not on our list. But we were talking about recently is that Serena Pitt and grocery store Joe were signed to a new pop culture. They previously hosted like the the bachelor branded podcast. Yeah. And it was like literally ABC sponsored podcast. And I have listened to them on podcasts before. And I think they're really boring and don't have a good dynamic.

50:48And that's personally, that's just my opinion. But they were, for some reason, given this pop culture podcast under Unwell called Not Married to That or something. And I thought was so interesting because Unwell's daily pop culture show that was on Sirius and it had three hosts, three female hosts whose names I don't have on hand right now. One of them was a pretty big or is a big commentator on TikTok when it comes to pop culture. That show got canceled. Yeah, I have no idea that Serena Pitt and Grocery Story Joe were still in the mix. To be honest, the last time I heard their name was back in, I think, 2018 when I used to watch the Bachelor franchise and Bachelor in Paradise.

51:26Let's leave them there. Yeah, I just don't even understand why Unwell would sign them. But yeah, to your point, what podcast under the Unwell Media Network do we listen to every week? Besides Call Her Daddy. Alex Cooper could never have a podcast that is better than hers or succeeds, like has better downloads than hers. It's so weird because I remember when they announced that daily pop culture show, everyone was like, oh, my God, a daily pop culture show. I never listened to it because I don't have Sirius. So, like, I don't know. Was the dynamic not good? It's like it was around for less than a year.

51:58And then it was just canceled. Yes. The one with, like, the three girls. Are you talking about? Yes. It had the three girls. And that was, like, going to be their new pop. We actually, I remember we were like, oh, my God, we have competition. Like, we were like, oh, my God, Unwell is doing this is going to, like, blow up. It's going to be a daily podcast. No, it was canceled. It was canceled. I thought it was going to be like the toast. And apparently one of the hosts made comments, very vague comments about Unwell, Alex Cooper, not being supportive of the show. And now they hand Serena Pitt and Grocery Shore Joe a pop culture show as if anyone is asking for that.

52:31It follows that. Genuinely. What kind of moves are they making? I'm just so confused by. And then she has the audacity to go on this podcast and be like, if you don't want to work hard, don't come to Unwell. And it's like, well, like, who is thriving at Unwell? I'm so confused. I feel like she's talking about Unwell, that is, the brand, like, the drinks and the media events and stuff like that. But, like, she doesn't give one shit about any of the podcasts. Because she doesn't want any of them to, like, overshadow hers. People say the same about Nick Viles' media network. I forgot what it's called.

53:04Oh, Envy Media. Which, speaking of which, one of my— Oh, Envy. Oh, my God. He's so— I know. I hate him. One of my dark energy objects is that new Netflix show, Age of Attraction. So I refuse to watch it because it's hosted by Nick and Natalie. And it's also a disgusting premise. It's basically normalizing like creepy age gaps. It's taking like 21-year-olds and like 70-year-olds. And it's kind of like love is blind, but they're age blind. So I think it's gross. I'm boycotting it. One of my girlfriends was texting me and she was like, you know what? I can't resist. I'm gonna check it out. She gave up after one episode because she said it was so boring.

53:42And I'm like, so not only do they have a problematic premise, problematic host, but they're also boring. It was funny. I stopped by my mom's house yesterday and Age of Attraction was playing. I was like, Nance. Wait, she was watching it? Yeah, I was like, Nance? Like, what are you doing? But I didn't even ask her what she thought of it. But I was like, huh. But I was talking to Rachel, our social manager, and we were both like, we'll probably watch this. I'll give it a shot just because I'm very, very curious. And I hate to give Nick and Natalie downloads. But, you know, I'm going to do it for the craft and for the podcast just to report back.

54:10I think you should. Maybe that could be a good Patreon episode, actually. Yeah. Yeah. Please. Because I refuse to watch it. Yeah. I don't blame you. 57:31Sophie:Tax Act knows filing taxes can be confusing, so we have live experts on hand who can help answer any questions you may have. Questions like, can I claim my SUV is my home office if I answer work emails in my car? If I adopted 12 dogs this year, can I list them as dependents? And am I doing this right or am I doing this very, very wrong? Our experts have the answers to those questions and many others. Tax Act. Let's get them over with. Speaking of dark energy objects, do you want to get into those? Yeah. Again, I just I feel like I've had a week and I'm in my luteal phase of my cycle. And I just feel like I'm sensitive.

58:14I'm cranky. I have a hormonal chin acne and I feel bloated, distended, physically unwell, emotionally unwell. Like what are things that help you guys? And don't just say like drink water and get outside like, I know. Like, I need tangible things, like more supplements, something, because I'm just, like, not well this week. Yeah, Christy, you were texting me about this, and I was like, I don't know. Like, my cycles are always very mild. Other than my period, I do get, like, really crampy. But, like, for the most part, I feel like my personality, I'm always, like, a hormonal bitch. So I don't notice my personality shift or my symptoms shift throughout the month.

58:50But, yeah, Christy was like, I need tangible solutions. So I was like, a heating pad? I don't know. I know. I'm doing the heating pad right now. I actually love, I've recently discovered heating pads. I don't know what took me so long. Even if I don't have like cramps or anything, I just love having like a warm thing next to me every night. Yes. Yes. It's very comforting in like self-care. Yeah, exactly. What's yours? Okay. So one of mine is, and I understand why they do, but when coffee shops close like too early in the late afternoon slash evening, because sometimes I do want like an evening latte or hot chocolate or pastry.

59:28Especially when we like record in the evenings. I like want like a little pick me up. Like I feel like it's like sometimes I do want like an evening. Like is that weird? No. No. Last night I actually was on the hunt. So one of my favorite coffee shops, if you guys live in the city, I don't know if this is like a national chain, but I know they have a few locations in the city. Olinstein. And it's like a, it's like Nordic, I guess, where they have like a bunch of like fancy Nordic type pastries. I don't know. The best hot chocolate. The best. They have something called a chocolate bun, which is basically like a dinner roll with chocolate chips in it that I'm obsessed with.

1:00:02I was craving that last night. And I understand, again, why coffee shops close at 7 on weekdays. It's like, who is there? They open at 6 a.m. That's when they make the most money is in the morning. But I was like, I really, really, really want like a pastry and a hot chocolate right now. So I actually found this one place on the Upper East Side. If you guys are on the Upper East Side. Oh, my God. Now I can't find the name of it, of course. Okay, I found it. La Bombonera. I don't know if I'm pronouncing that right. But it's like a wine bar slash cafe. So it's like the wine bar part, it's open late.

1:00:40And then they also have their coffee, their hot chocolate, their pastries. I love that. Found it. I was so thrilled. But yeah, I just implore coffee shop owners, if you're listening to this, I understand why you close early in the evening. But some of us are like night owls. Yeah, I totally know what you mean by just wanting a pastry midday. I'm like constantly craving an almond croissant. Doesn't matter what time of the day. You would. I love an almond croissant. You don't like them? They're my favorite pastry. I always want like chocolate. I want something with chocolate. Oh, see, I don't like chocolate.

1:01:11You know what? I don't like chocolate. Peno chocolate? Yeah, no, no, no. I want like an almond croissant. but I love like the like kind of like stuff inside. Oh, my God, you would love Olenstein. When you come to the city, I'm taking you there. They have like just every sort of pastry you could ever imagine and savory ones. They have like cheddar jalapeno, like scones. Oh, my God. I just love a pastry. Yeah, I'll be there in June. Let's do it. Let's do it. Speaking of, do you want to announce our special guest for LA show? Because Kat's out of the bag. Oh, no, we did. We did on, I forgot which episode last week we did.

1:01:44But in case you guys missed it, Ryan Bailey is our guest of honor at our L.A. show on May 15th. So don't forget to get tickets at XMENtertainment.com slash snarkbait if you will be in the L.A. area and you want to meet, trigger warning, Ryan Bailey or us. But like, I know that Ryan is going to be the hot commodity. So, yeah. What are your dark energy objects? Do you have any other ones? My luteal phase. Oh, your luteal phase. Okay. Yeah. Light energy objects. This just felt very appropriate given the week I just had. I just need to sleep in. Like, I literally need to have a day where I sleep in till 1 p.m.

1:02:16Okay? Everyone away. Like, back off. Out of the way. Out of the way. Sometimes it's just necessary. Yeah. So I, like, need today to be over, to be honest. Like, love you guys. But, like, I need the work day to be over, you know? We're almost there. Yeah. What's yours? Oh, I said it at the top of the episode, forcing myself to see friends even when all I want to do is, like, go home after work and I'm really tired. It's always worth it. again friendships take work and I feel like so many of us have become complacent with being home buddies and being in especially in the winter I I totally get why in the winter nobody wants to leave their house and like I am included in that but I just want to remind everyone that like that tweet said actually let me credit that person who tweeted that I just realized I didn't everyone like wants a village Adele block Adele underscore block B-L-O-C-H um everyone wants a village but no one wants to be a villager.

1:03:12So if you want a village, you have to be a villager. That's amazing. I was like, was it Marilyn Monroe? We're talking about all of like the fake quotes attributed to Marilyn Monroe. Like, let's give me a break. Like back in 2009 when we all thought she said like everything inspiring. I'd rather be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring. Yeah, like she didn't say that. Shut up. She didn't say that. Okay, we love you guys so much. If you guys want to follow us on Instagram, Sophie posts the funniest carousels for DED at snarkbait pod. 1:04:16After years of really not caring about my health as much as I should, one of my goals this year is to finally change that. Part of that is getting older. I won't say exactly how old I am, but let's just say I'm at the age where it's really starting to matter how I treat my body and my brain health. And I know plenty of you millennial baby snarks are probably having similar aha moments. That's why I'm so excited that I've discovered Function. It's the only health platform that gives you access to over 160 biomarkers, covering everything from hormones and metabolism to heart health, inflammation, stress markers, and toxins.

1:04:48You can even add MRI and chest CT imaging, and it's all tracked in one secure place. It's the kind of comprehensive view of your health that most people never get access to. There's a reason Function is backed by top U.S. doctors like neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Huberman and cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Jeremy London. I definitely feel like my memory and my neurons aren't as sharp as they used to be, And Function of Health has taught me what's happening in your brain reflects what's happening across your entire body. Things like inflammation, blood sugar regulation, nutrient levels, sleep quality, vascular health, all influence how your brain performs today and over time.

1:05:20So if you're not measuring those systems, you're guessing. So stop guessing what's going on with your body and mind and start actually measuring. Start by understanding what's happening beneath the surface. Own your health for$365 a year. That's a dollar a day. Learn more and join Function using our link. Visit www.functionhealth.com slash snarkbait or use gift code snarkbait25 for a$25 credit toward your membership. Is there any better feeling in the entire world than getting into a clean bed after an amazing relaxing night shower and turning on old roni? No. And as I've gotten older, I've realized luxury bedding is something you truly don't appreciate until you sleep in it.

1:05:58But like, who has the money to spurge on bedding in this economy? Good news. You don't have to. And that's all thanks to Quince. When it comes to quince, you'll notice the difference right away.
