1:29Hey, everybody.

1:30KJ Dillard:Welcome back to Snarkbait. I'm Sophie. I'm Christy. How's it going, Soph?

1:36Remi Bader:I'm doing okay. We are recording on Monday, August 17th, so obviously we are still kind of reeling from the news of Hayden Penetier's very tragic death. Um, we, the news broke last night, pretty late East coast time. I was like literally about to go to bed, um, when I saw the TMZ notification. Um, and yeah, it's obviously, I know that you are devastated by it. It is just so tragic. You had just watched her Jay Shetty interview, right?

2:12Hayden Panettiere:Yeah. And you guys all know how I feel about Jay Shetty. I can't stand the man. But this was the only interview I've ever watched of his because I've always been so captivated by her story. And I feel like as millennial women, we grew up with her. Remember the Titans. Bring it on. I didn't watch Nashville, but now I feel like I need to. Heroes. Heroes. Where she was dating my love and Amelia.

2:36Remi Bader:Yeah. Save the cheerleader. Save the world.

2:38Hayden Panettiere:Yeah. She's just such an iconic. celebrity.

2:42KJ Dillard:Do you know that she played Dot? She voiced Dot in A Bug's Life, which I didn't even

2:46Remi Bader:know.

2:47Hayden Panettiere:I did know that. I did know that. She was an ice princess. And then people are now showing that image of her and Michelle Trachtenberg. May they both rest in peace. I mean, gone far too soon.

2:56Remi Bader:Yeah.

2:57Hayden Panettiere:And no, I mean, like I was last night I was with some family and we were watching a movie and Sophie texted me like mid movie and I could not concentrate the entire rest of the movie because I was just like, you know, you always know where you were when certain celebrities die. You feel like you have a very heightened parasocial relationship with them. I literally audibly went, oh, like, no.

3:20Remi Bader:It was, I think you said your heart stopped or something like that. You were like, my stomach dropped or whatever it was. And I physically, like, I remember when I saw that, I was like, my heart, my stomach flopped. Like, it completely was like a physical sensation reading that. It's like you don't even think it's possible, you know, when you see something like that. You're like, how is that even possible?

3:44Hayden Panettiere:I mean, it makes absolutely no sense. She was only 36 years old. And honestly, I was just thinking of not that they're similar or whatever, but I was just thinking of Brittany Murphy and how she died at 32. And we did a whole Patreon episode on the tragic death and just the mysteriousness of Brittany Murphy's death. Hers was we don't know much about Hayden Panettiere's death. Honestly, right now we know that it was an alleged overdose. Yeah, overdose with cardiac arrest. Right. And, you know, paramedics found her unresponsive at a home in Greenville, South Carolina. I didn't even I don't know if it was her home.

4:17Hayden Panettiere:It was it was a friend's home. Like we know nothing outside of that. And it's 7 a.m. Monday, August 17th. So by the time this releases, maybe we will know more. But I mean, it's just celebrities that were so talented that we grew up with that we admired that were part of some of our favorite hits that are gone. It's so strange to feel like mourning over a person you don't know.

4:41Remi Bader:Yeah. And I've seen like a lot of commentary about the fact that us millennials especially, it feels like so many of these women, Michelle Trachtenberg, Hayden Penetier, even ones that are still with us like Britney Spears. I'm sorry. Yes. They gave everything to us but sacrificed their own childhoods, if that makes sense. They made our childhood so entertaining and memorable. But then, you know, at what cost, you know? Yeah. It's just, it's so fucking sad. And obviously, you know, she has been very open about her struggles with postpartum depression. And her brother passed away just a few years ago.

5:25Remi Bader:And I know that was obviously very tough for her. And it's just it's it's just so like you said, like you we don't know her personally, but we feel such a. It's just so it's a shock to the system.

5:38Hayden Panettiere:Yeah, we feel like a connection, a connection to her. And I think I felt very similarly like with Aaron Carter. And I think what's the most jarring for for me, at least, was knowing she kind of kept herself a little bit out of the spotlight for the last couple of years. And we kind of all knew she had been struggling with postpartum depression. And she honestly, courageously had given up custody of her daughter, Kaya, because she knew she didn't have the mental capacity to take care of her in the way that she wanted to. And so her daughter, Kaya, she lives abroad with the father. And I remember listening to Hayden on Jay Shetty's podcast.

6:12Hayden Panettiere:And Hayden was explaining, like, even though I'm not physically there constantly in the way that I would like to be every day, we FaceTime all the time. We have a fabulous relationship. It seems like her and the father of her daughter, Kaya, are very close still. She really loves his family. Like, they seem to have a really fantastic co-parenting relationship. And she says that I know a lot of people, like, for instance, Neutrogena, that was a partner of hers for over a decade, for a very long time since she was a teenager, dropped her from being their brand ambassador simply because she was open and courageous about talking about the postpartum struggles that she had when she had Kaya.

6:46Hayden Panettiere:And it's such a taboo topic. I think when we talk about women or pregnancy or hormones, like it's very triggering, a topic for a lot of people that can be very triggering. And I found it was so brave of her to be able to come out and just say, listen, I wasn't strong enough at the time to be able to take care of another life. And so I did the hardest thing that I needed to do was relinquish control of her and give her to her father full time. And like that's so respectable. and I knew that she was coming at it from like a place of love and the fact that people that she had trusted for a decade like over a decade Neutrogena dropped her for being honest like that like how dare you I just found her to be so open and honest about her struggles and the fact that she was doing a press for the last couple of months um for the book and it felt like with her memoir coming out she to us just watching the press it was like wow she has a second wind she's able to kind of finally come back into her own.

7:38Hayden Panettiere:She's ready to work. She has built a really great relationship with her daughter, only to come to find out like, oh, my God, we just don't know what people are going through. And she probably was actually heavily struggling during that press tour, too.

7:49Remi Bader:Yeah. I mean, that clip from the Jay Shetty interview that I feel like has gone viral since the news broke is her saying, I have so much life left to live. I feel like I have, you know, shed so many demons and left so much darkness in the past. And I feel like I'm entering this new chapter, I'm paraphrasing, but said, you know, that she felt like she had so much life left to live. So it's just, it's horrible. Like 36, she's just days away from her 37th birthday. I think her 37th birthday is this Friday. So just way, way, way too young. It's just absolutely tragic. And like you said, she really, really, really was one of the first people to be open about the struggles of postpartum depression.

8:33Remi Bader:And so, and brought so much awareness to that. Yeah. And, you know, I hope that she is always remembered for, she also advocated for dolphins and whales. And did you know that? That she was a big advocate for - For wildlife. For wildlife. And yeah, I just, I hope she's remembered for not only her body of work, but also her like contributions outside of work, including her openness about postpartum depression, which brought, like I said, so much awareness to such a, you know, taboo topic.

9:07Hayden Panettiere:One other thing that I wanted to just, I mean, we would be remiss to not bring it up. So she was super open also about the domestic violence that she sustained at the hands of her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson. He was arrested for domestic violence. He just seems like a real monster. And she was very, very transparent and open and vulnerable about the relationship that she shared with him and how she felt like she lost a sense of herself when being with him. And so many women, you know, at the hands of domestic violence, they feel like they can't speak up. They feel ashamed. And she was like, there was a period of time when I did feel super ashamed and I feel so strong to be able to bring it up now.

9:40and you know i was i was reading an article um on yahoo and it says that both hayden and brian

9:51Hayden Panettiere:hickerson the ex he had flown with her out of la the day before she died so it seemed like they were still talking or still in contact obviously that wasn't like the picture that she painted when she was on jay shetty she was probably deeply ashamed of it so i don't know when he came back into her life is she was still talking with him but i mean it's just it's sad and there's no

10:14Remi Bader:connection as far as we know with him and her death like her death they immediately said no foul play and then it came out that it was um what they suspect to be an overdose with cardiac arrest so there there was absolutely no connection with her ex-boyfriend i hate that like obviously there already conspiracy theories running amok about her ex-wife and also the diana jenkins connection which she wrote about in her memoir um obviously did not name diana jenkins from real houses beverly hills but it's widely speculated that um she was the woman who had her on a yacht and put her in compromising positions um and so i'm seeing so many conspiracy theories about like oh she knew too much she was revealing the hollywood secrets and it's just let the girl rest Let the girl rest.

11:02Remi Bader:Like, there is no reason to be conspiratorial about someone who just passed away and the cause of death has been revealed. And I think that it is absolutely disrespectful. So we will not obviously be entertaining any of those conspiracy theories at all.

11:23Hayden Panettiere:yeah 100 i just wanted to point it out just because like that was just written in the article that it just it just seemed like probably she was like struggling a little bit yeah it seems like

11:33Remi Bader:she was still she had struggled for so long and it seems like she probably was still struggling and even though i think that you know on that jay shetty podcast she her words were saying one thing where she said you know i am leaving the demons behind and all that but i saw people point out or her body language kind of telling a different story where it seemed like she was still struggling.

11:55Hayden Panettiere:Yeah.

11:55Remi Bader:Even if she wasn't outwardly saying so. We just don't know, too.

12:01Hayden Panettiere:Like, I think that's part of why it's so, like, what made me so sad, I think, a large part of it is because knowing that she had passed an overdose, knowing that she was with this man that had hurt her so badly, physically, mentally, it's like you just never know what's going on in people's stories. Like she displayed a picture as if she were healed and probably a large part of her was. But there's obviously still demons that none of us know about. And I think it's just it really is a picture into whatever you think is going on. It's not always as it seems. So just like try and be kind to people when you have no idea what they're dealing with behind closers.

12:42Hayden Panettiere:And they could be saying one thing, but dealing with something completely the opposite behind the scenes.

12:46Remi Bader:Yeah, totally. And I also think that this is probably opening up a lot of conversations about the ethics, once again, of child stardom. Because she, the root of so many of her problems were linked to her being in the spotlight at such a young age, not having privacy at such a young age, her very fraught relationship with her mom. um so yeah I think when you're a child how can you consent to being famous you know but that's a whole other conversation and more of the story is that it's just a fucking tragedy um I hope that she is finally at peace that's all that we can ask for she struggled so much and I just I I hope that she's at peace now and um and yeah and for all other listeners fellow millennial women that feel particularly, you know, shattered by this news.

13:44Remi Bader:We are with you. And our hearts go out to her family and friends and especially her young daughter. Her daughter, I know. And, yeah. And

13:54Hayden Panettiere:the parents, like, she lost a, they lost their son too. Yeah. And like, it's just. Her brother

14:01Remi Bader:passed away recently. It looked just, I think in 2023. Um, so it's, yeah, it's just absolute, it's just a tragedy. Um, but, uh, yeah, so we, I guess I don't even know how to transition into the rest of dark energy Tuesday after this. Um, but we do have some things on the agenda. We just wanted to say that up top and, um, yeah, it's weighing heavy on us. We will try to lighten the mood with some other topics. But yeah, just know that it's still weighing heavy on us. And yeah. Yeah.

14:41Hayden Panettiere:What's your favorite, I guess on a lighter note, as we end this part of the show, like what was your favorite Hayden Panettiere, like body of work?

Read the full transcript

14:48Remi Bader:Probably Bring It On. Was it All or Nothing that she was in Bring It On, colon All or Nothing, and the iconic like dance moves that she did? The crumping or whatever? And then also, I know that I didn't know that she was Dot in A Bug's Life, but A Bug's Life was always one of my favorite movies growing up. So that just, you know, it's such a good movie.

15:05Hayden Panettiere:I love Remember the Titans. Oh, yeah. Honestly, it's so weird. I was just texting my sister because I was on, I think it was on Prime. Raising Helen is one of my favorite movies of all time with Kate Hudson. Oh, my God. Yes. That probably is actually mine. I need to watch it then today in honor of her. But yeah, probably actually, I'm looking at her IMDb. Honestly, probably Raising Helen. That movie raised me. It's like such a sweet, cute movie.

15:31Remi Bader:Such a good movie.

15:33Hayden Panettiere:Yeah.

15:34Remi Bader:She was also in Scream.

15:36Hayden Panettiere:Yeah. I love the Scream series. That's like one of my cool classics.

15:40Remi Bader:Did you ever watch I Love You, Beth Cooper? Because that was also a good movie. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just a lot of classics. um yeah i'm looking at her filmography also yeah well i never watched um nashville and i watched the first season of heroes so like forever ago but i never watched nashville um but yeah she was just so very talented and just gone too soon yeah i don't know about you guys but with summer in

19:58Remi Bader:Okay, let's switch gears to some lighter topics. What do you want to do you want to start with the unwell? Yeah, because I think this is really interesting.

20:10Hayden Panettiere:Yeah. So last week, it was announced Bloomberg reported Thursday, last Thursday, citing sources at Target that unwell beverages main distributor. um sorry citing sources at target that the brand will shut down this fall following the release of halloween themed products and target is selling through its remaining inventory ahead of the brand ceasing production across all of its line of beverages and this comes less than two years after alex cooper has launched her her beverage uh we actually tried it on patreon sophie and i a couple like last year it was disgusting it was sickening you it it tastes i don't even know how

20:50Remi Bader:describe it other than it tasted like chemicals and i'm not picky like i like most things

20:54Hayden Panettiere:same no no no like when it comes to beverages i'm like hand me whatever i'm easy yeah um it wasn't even like it was too sweet or too this it literally just didn't it tasted like fake like it was built in a black wasn't natural at all and i think they hawked the fact that they have natural flavors and it's natural ingredients it tasted like anything but we could not even finish it like it wasn't one of those things where we're trying to hate we took one sip and we threw it out immediately.

21:20Remi Bader:You know, what was really interesting, though, that before this Unwell Beverages news broke, that they were shutting down their beverages vertical, that the news just two days later was like, oh, my God, you guys, Unwell is valued at five hundred million dollars. Did you see this?

21:37Hayden Panettiere:Of course. Yeah.

21:38Remi Bader:So it said Alex, Matt Kaplan's Gen Z media company Unwell secured an investment from entertainment executive Patrick White sells WTSL for an undisclosed amount. The investment firm is backed by private equity firm Silver Lake. Alex Cooper said, we're scaling on all fronts, combining nimbleness, social first premium content and our understanding of culture to serve this highly influential audience. With WTSL's backing, the company is now also poised to accelerate our media platform's growth through acquisitions and investments. We always say unwell moves at the speed of a group chat. Our competitive advantage over traditional media is that it's never been able to have a two-way conversation.

22:12Remi Bader:I can walk into any room and close the deal. Yeah. She didn't say that last time. last part, but you know that she thinks it. But it's just so crazy because when I first saw that news, I was like, how? How? The 500, like how? Because it's not like, like Call Her Daddy, yes, is one of the top podcasts in the world. But none of the other podcasts are thriving. And Joe Rogan, who is number one, is making 80 million dollars a year, 80 something million

22:41Hayden Panettiere:dollars a year great great enough or juxtaposition of like how how does the math actually math it

22:46Remi Bader:doesn't actually math because even there i guess like let's marry harry is a is an unwell production um i know some people have been watching that i i personally haven't i actually my sister-in-law was like i watched in one sitting it was really good really okay yeah no so i know some people actually love it but like love overboard no one watched that on hulu i was gonna say wasn't there

23:07Hayden Panettiere:like a, like a boat thing that she did. Yeah.

23:09Remi Bader:Love overboard hosted by Gabby Windy and none of the podcasts under unwell other than call her daddy are making any noise at all. Um, none of them seem to be thriving. So it's just so confusing. So I was confused by that news. I was like, what the fuck? This has to be like a Ponzi scheme or something like this just does not add up. And then that news broke about the beverages vertical shutting down. And I was like, okay, I'm not surprised by that.

23:36Hayden Panettiere:Yeah. It reminds me, honestly, this$500 million valuation reminds me of like when I used to work in Silicon Valley and I would audit some of these companies, these like unicorn companies. And this was like pre-pandemic. This was like 2017. And they would say, oh, you're, you know, this company that you're going to be auditing is valued at a billion dollars. And then come to find out that company basically goes and solve it and they go under. It's like, you don't really know about these things. People can throw a number onto any company and just say it is and people just believe it because it's reported on some website.

24:09Hayden Panettiere:You actually have no idea like the health of that of that company until like it becomes public and it's publicly audited and there's SEC guidelines against it. Like they can really say anything that they want. And so the 500 million thing, I have no idea where they got that, but it's unsurprising to me that they said this valuation at such a high value when one of their one subsidiary of this business, Unwell Beverage, just ceased operations. And I was also thinking about it. It feels like everyone and their mother is leaning into the beverage space. I mean, Kyle cooked it at first, it seems like.

24:43But then you have, for instance, like Unwell, you have Sip Marg's a la Alex Cooper.

24:49Remi Bader:Spread Society.

24:50Hayden Panettiere:Spread Society with the Toast Girls and Ben Soffer. You have Long Drink a la Miles Teller slash Kelly Teller that got sold to, I think, Mark Anthony's company. Like you do have some businesses that do well, seemingly. But I feel like when it comes to food and beverage, it's such a difficult industry to get into. And I think specifically when it comes to like mass distribution into Target for like a beverage like Unwell, it's heavy upfront capital, a lot of regulatory compliance. You have to do recipe testing. You have to find a production partner. You have to find distributors to like logistically send all those beverages over to every single target across the country.

25:27Hayden Panettiere:There's ingredients. There's shipping. Like it's a logistical nightmare. And there's so much red tape when there's any food and beverage. I just don't understand why Alex Cooper decided to go this specific venture of all ventures. Like stick to what you know and stick to what you're good at, which is entertainment, podcasting, media. Why drinks?

25:46Remi Bader:But it seems like she's not even sticking to what she's good at because she's doing like, oh, TV production. And also like the beverages and then also like the pod. It's like, what? Like, why are you not focusing on the one thing you're really good at and passionate about, which is podcasting? It's like even the TV production thing doesn't make sense to me.

26:06Hayden Panettiere:Agreed.

26:06Remi Bader:I guess it's because her husband, Matt Kaplan, is a producer. And so it's like, oh, let's just like marry our interests, no pun intended. But like, it just doesn't make sense from a business standpoint to me. And not that I'm like, I didn't go to business school. Like, I don't fucking know. I was an outsider looking in. Objectively. Yeah. And I think it's funny also, like, seeing the comments. Like, obviously, this was everywhere. All of the news about Unwell Beverages shutting down. And I saw so many comments from people who didn't really know anything about Alex Hooper Unwell. And they go, well, it's a drink called Unwell.

26:39Remi Bader:Why would I want to drink something called Unwell?

26:41Hayden Panettiere:Yeah. From a marketing perspective, like, you're right. Like, that name in and of itself is not very desirable for me to drink.

26:47Remi Bader:And she stole it from Sophia Franklin.

26:49Hayden Panettiere:Yeah. And I was also looking at statistics by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. And within five years, you would. Because I was like genuinely curious. You would. Who would advise her?

26:59Remi Bader:Wait, you ask Christy. This is the only like entertainment podcast you can listen to where Christy's like, one of the hosts is looking at the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

27:07Hayden Panettiere:And I genuinely was like, I'm curious. Like what percentage of beverage companies fail? Because like this cannot be a wise business decision. I would have never advised her on this. Not that she's asking my damn opinion. But I guess within five years, 48 % of beverage companies will fail. Within 10 years, 62%. The odds are against you. Yeah, that tracks. Yeah. So I just, she's always like, I'm the best businesswoman ever. And I'm not doubting she is. Clearly, she's a very savvy businesswoman. But when it comes to this specific venture, it makes 0 % sense to me.

27:40Remi Bader:Yeah. And I feel like from the get-go, people are like, this feels like a cash grab. You know, it's just so random. and your name as a celebrity or someone that has fans will only and we talk about this with celebrity beauty brands too right it's like yeah people will go out and buy this one time as like a novelty or like us to like see what the hype is about but like to actually have repeat customers it has to be a good product yes and I feel like it just wasn't good so like I'm sure at the beginning, I would assume that it was probably doing really well. There was all this hype around it. But like who actually is going out and buying unwell beverages, you know?

28:21Hayden Panettiere:It's like after my Pilates class or before I'm like, damn, I really would like something to drink. I'm going to go grab some unwell. Like, what are you fucking talking about? No one does that.

28:30Remi Bader:Yeah. And like, let me know, you guys, when was the last time you picked out a random drink at the bodega or Target or whatever it is. And you're like, I have never tried this before. I'm going to give it a go. I feel like for the most part, we know what we like when it comes to beverages. I like Spindrift, LaCroix, sometimes the occasional soda. I'm not picking out a random drink that I've never tried before. That's just, it's, no.

28:59Hayden Panettiere:Yeah, that tastes like chemicals.

29:01Remi Bader:Yeah. But yeah, I was going to say,

29:04Hayden Panettiere:you know what I think it is actually, Sophie? I think this was like a write-off for them. I think this was intentional now that I'm thinking about it.

29:09Remi Bader:That's what everyone, you know more about like taxes obviously than I do, but a lot of people say that like it sometimes is beneficial for a business to fail for tax reasons. And I don't fully understand that, but like I guess, sure.

29:22Hayden Panettiere:It reduces your income when you have a loss. So then basically you're taxed on less dollars than you would be if the business was thriving.

29:29Remi Bader:Oh, okay. So like that's actually like a win for Exactly.

29:34Hayden Panettiere:It actually, now that I'm thinking about it, this is probably, maybe I'm the idiot for shitting on this because maybe actually this was very intentional by them. Like genuinely. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, that's probably what it was. They knew it was going to fail. They just needed the write-off to reduce their income.

29:47Remi Bader:But there's no way they started it with the intention of it failing, right? Like, that's so embarrassing. Like, it's not embarrassing. It's a PR nightmare. Yeah, it's a PR nightmare. Like, it's not embarrassing if a business fails and you're, like, a regular person. Like, good for you for putting yourself out there. It's embarrassing if you're Alex Cooper. And you have every resource available to you in the world to succeed. Exactly. I'm curious what you guys think.

30:09Hayden Panettiere:If you ever came to me, Sophie, and were like, hey, like, I have a really good business idea for starting to be like, we should start a beverage.

30:16Remi Bader:Can you imagine?

30:17Hayden Panettiere:Me and Henry would shut it down so fast.

30:20Remi Bader:You and Henry? I know my business managers. Sophie. Yeah, you guys would be like, get real. Let's talk about another celebrity brand. Will you walk me through this Wonder Mind stuff?

30:34Hayden Panettiere:Okay, yeah. So Mandy Teefy, who was Selena Gomez's mother and Selena. Basically, Selena really wasn't a part of this. I think she was more of a brand ambassador. They wanted to stick Selena's name on because she is who she is. But basically, Wondermind is what they call the world's first mental fitness ecosystem. And I remember when this was founded, I think back in like early 2020s, around 2022, I think, they were posturing it like whether it's an app or a place where you could find like, you know, like psychologytoday.com, where if you guys are unfamiliar, it's a website where you could enter your zip code, enter like whatever health insurance that you have.

31:08Hayden Panettiere:And it'll pair you and say, here are all the therapists available in your area that take your insurance. These are their specializations. I thought it was going to be like a psychology today that's what my initial thought was but when I go on to the actual website it's like really like a blog it's a blog account it's like a goop where you go on and there's various articles about how people you know improve their mental health when I went on the website yesterday the most recent article that was on their dashboard was an interview actually with Amanda Petula back in 2025 and her talking about how she was like changing her drugs to help her anxiety and depression like it's just basically a blog as far as I understand it But I think that when they sold this company to investors, they were making it seem like it was much bigger than just basically Tumblr.

31:51Hayden Panettiere:So according to documents obtained by USA Today, the plaintiffs, so basically the investors that feel like they've been defrauded, they alleged in the complaint that they invested almost$1.2 million in Wondermind Global in 2022 because Selena Gomez, Mandy TV, and one of their business partners with the last name Pearson falsely represented that the company had the infrastructure, leadership, and resources necessary for the company to launch into a profitable, one of its kind. mental health and wellness platform. And they were told when Selena's mom and her business partner, Pearson, were selling the company to investors that Selena would be, quote, actively building the company as its head of marketing.

32:27Hayden Panettiere:And that Pearson was a$200 million executive who had already secured partnerships and that a full slate of revenue-generating initiatives were underway. They're like, listen, we already have a great business model. We're already making money. We have partners that are on board. Sign with us and we're going to make you, like, a lot of money. But - It was all bullshit. All bullshit. The suit alleged that Gomez, Selena Gomez, purported to sign a contract obligating her to perform and then ignored it. The partnerships never existed. The initiatives never materialized. The app was never built. And for three years, while the company quietly collapsed around them, not one of its founders, officers or directors said a word to the investors whose money was funding the collapse.

33:02Hayden Panettiere:And which is, I mean, that's fraudulent. And guess who is actually now representing Selena Gomez in this suit? Matthew Rosengart. And he was the attorney that represented Britney Spears to free her from her conservatorship.

33:17Remi Bader:Zaddy Rosengart.

33:18Hayden Panettiere:Yeah, he was incredible. So Matthew Rosengart is not representing the mother, Mandy, but he's representing Selena. And he's basically saying all of what you're saying is untrue. He's like, there was no breach of contract. There was no fraud. He said the allegations that Selena Gomez engage in any way whatsoever in any purported fraud or other wrongdoing are completely meritless, both factually and legally. We will vigorously defend these false allegations and indeed are filing a motion to dismiss the baseless claims against her. And we actually covered this, I think, like a year ago. Remember when there was, I think, The Cut or a publication like that produced an article about how Mandy Teefy would be like watching TV during work hours.

33:57Hayden Panettiere:Like people would be in the office. She'd be like snacking. She wouldn't leave the office for days at a time. She would be like sniffing, snorting like drugs in her office where everyone could see. The behavior by Mandy Teefe was very erratic. And people were saying, like, I think she was, she said people were, like, trying to get into the building during late nights because she was sleeping over in the building. She wasn't going home. Like, she just seemed to be acting incredibly erratically. And it's also not good if you have investors that invested millions of dollars into this company and you're fucking around on the job.

34:30Hayden Panettiere:And you're supposed to be the executive. It's just not a good look. And I feel like what I think happened here was that Mandy was like, I want in on some business venture that I can attach my daughter's name to so I can make a lot of money outside of just like my daughter. Because Selena Gomez used to be managed by Mandy, her mother. She fired her mother like a very long time ago. But I think that Mandy was like desperately trying to like go into business again with Selena and was like, listen, you're really an advocate for mental health. You have the Rare Impact Fund that donates a portion of the proceeds to like mental health awareness, da-da-da-da.

35:00Hayden Panettiere:I have a great idea. Let's build a mental fitness app that helps people improve their wellness and psychology. But like, what exactly was the product? I couldn't even tell you after we're leading up on this. What is it?

35:14Remi Bader:So I just went to their website also, and it literally is like, it's like a just media website where it's kind of like Refinery29, where you can poke around in different articles. But like, what is the actual product here? Because that, as we know, unfortunately, that doesn't bring in money. Right. So like, what is the product? Like, what are you actually like? You're not connecting people with therapists. Like you're not you're not really doing anything except publishing articles. Like you said, there's like some interview with Amanda Batula from last year, by the way, from 2025. They have like links to podcasts that you can listen to.

35:50Remi Bader:But overall, there is literally nothing of substance, really. Like, again, there are articles. Here are some examples of some of the articles. 11 little ways to manage anxiety when it pops up. 11 little life hacks people with depression swear by. How to deal with that anxious feeling that things are too good. It's just like little write-ups. It's not offering anything like tangible. Like what is the service being provided here? Like it's so weird. Yeah, I know.

36:21Hayden Panettiere:And it's kind of a shame because I feel like Selena Gomez pretty much for the most part has very good PR. I think anyone who knows who's in Hollywood as much as Sophie and I are and that consumes Hollywood like Sophie and I do, you know that Selena Gomez has had her blips and you know that Selena like allegedly had had like a drug problem in the early days of her career. And like all that has been able to be covered up because she has a great team behind her. Like I would say pretty close to tree pain. But it sucks for Selena because I think that this is just not a good look for her. And of course she hired the best of the best, Matthew Rosencar, to dispute these allegations.

36:58Hayden Panettiere:I think when it comes down to it, Selena Gomez had nothing to do with this. I genuinely think that it was her mom and this woman, Pearson, that thought they could just slap Selena Gomez's name on it and it would be a million dollar business. And similar to Unwell, honestly, like we can slap Alex Cooper's name on it and it'll be a smashing success. Just because you yourself as a celebrity is a smashing success doesn't mean that every single product that you hawk will become or lack thereof will be a smashing success.

37:23Remi Bader:Right. Right. It's so weird. Like Selena has rare beauty. That's that's a smashing success because the products are actually good. They're legit.

37:32Hayden Panettiere:They're so good.

37:33Remi Bader:Like, what the fuck is this? Like, what is this? I just don't understand. I don't think anyone knows really. Like it's a scam.

37:41Hayden Panettiere:It's a scam. No, genuinely. I think that's the best way to describe it. It's a scam that they thought they could just say, oh, it's Selena Gomez's mental health app. OK, sure. There's millions of dollars.

37:50Remi Bader:I wonder if her mom could actually like I feel like Selena was so not involved with this that like she maybe like breach of contract, it sounds like. But it sounds like her mom was actually actively, you know, taking this money from investors and purporting that the business was something that it wasn't. Like, I wonder if she could actually face like legal repercussions. Like, for real.

38:14Hayden Panettiere:Absolutely, she could. Yeah, 100 % she could.

38:16Remi Bader:Oh, my God. Which, by the way, you guys, I need to do a deep dive into the FIA scandal. Have you been following this?

38:24Hayden Panettiere:Oh, my gosh, yes.

38:25Remi Bader:So more things have come out about Phoebe Gates and Sophia Chiani, I think her name is. the app that they co-founded. It's basically a browser extension and they were taking credit for sales they didn't actually drive. And this new Bloomberg article came out and it basically proved that not only were Phoebe and Sophia aware of this, you know, fraud that was happening, they were pushing for it. They were pushing. There are literal Slack messages where they're like, yeah, drop the cookie. It doesn't matter if they make a sale. So I want to write up a deep dive about that, that we can do over on Patreon within the next few weeks.

39:08Remi Bader:So stay tuned for that, you guys, because I'm very, very, very fascinated by that fraud situation. I love an investigative

39:14Hayden Panettiere:journalistic hit piece by Sophie Ross. People hate to see her fucking coming, seriously, because she will fucking take you down or help everyone explain why people are taking you down.

39:25Remi Bader:I'm just I'm so fascinated by it because it's like, how are you like part of me almost respects it because it's like you could have just been a billionaire's daughter, but you're like, let me like found a business. So I'm like, OK, that's a kind of respectable. But then you commit fraud. Like why? You could have just been a billionaire's daughter. And it's not like she's actually going to go to prison, you guys. Like, of course, like the charges are could be severe when it comes to this fraud that has occurred. But when it comes down to it, it's like, of course, she's not actually going to go to prison.

39:55Remi Bader:But it definitely is very, very, very serious.

39:58Hayden Panettiere:She like should. I mean, if we want to establish the same principle across everyone who's committed the same crime, she actually should go to prison. If it's going to be probably going to be for 48 hours, you know, if that.

40:09Remi Bader:Teach her a lesson.

40:11Hayden Panettiere:Yeah. The same principle should be applying to all people that commit this type of thing. I mean, yeah, the stakes are low. It's not like you're freaking, what's her name, from Secret Lives of, not Secret Lives. Housewives of Salt Lake defrauding elderly people. Oh, Jen Shaw. Oh my God, fuck Jen Shaw. I guess the stakes are low, but still, it's fraud nonetheless. So pay the price.

40:31Remi Bader:I really quickly want to talk about KJ. I was about to say KJ Apa. KJ Dillard from Summer House. What about that KJ Apa? KJ Apa. I deserve to serve my country just like anybody else does. America can't afford to lose Jimmy Stewart, Rob Riggle from 21 Jump Street, by the way. I'm sorry. That is such a snarkbait coded movie at this point. Like, add it to the list. We brought it up. The past, like, 10 episodes we recorded, we talk about 21 Jump Street.

41:01Hayden Panettiere:No, I know.

41:02Remi Bader:It's like every episode.

41:03Hayden Panettiere:We can't get past it.

41:05Remi Bader:And if you guys don't know who our Thursday Deep Dive is this week, let's just say it's one of the stars of 21 Jump Street. So get excited. But KJ Dillard and Remy Bader were spotted.

41:19Hayden Panettiere:Please.

41:20Remi Bader:A demo posted anonymous KJ from summer house and Remy Bader leaving Maison close in the Hamptons on Friday night together in an Uber. Do I believe they hooked up? Yes. Do I believe that this should be anything more than a hookup? No. I don't think either of them is is mentally in the place for a relationship right now. I have a question. I know I don't know them, but from what I've seen on both TV and in in social media.

41:48Hayden Panettiere:I'm sorry that's objectively correct. Don't like no one can come for us because we all know that's true. What was I going to say? Is KJ on Summer House? I'm still confused. Is he going to be on the season?

41:59Remi Bader:He is on Summer House but it doesn't look like he went on the Grease trip. The below deck trip. For whatever reason he was not on the cast trip. I don't know why. But he has been listed as a full time cast member. Okay. Which again is something that I'm like kind of. I said after the reunion of the last season of Summer House. I'm like I don't think he should be on TV. I think that he should he's been very open about his mental health struggles. And reality TV is is such a tough, tough landscape that can really fuck with you.

42:27Hayden Panettiere:Could never do it. Obviously. Oh, my God.

42:29Remi Bader:And I feel like it's probably not a good place for him. But if that's his decision, that's his decision. From what we know about Remy Bader, she is not. That is not a mentally mature or stable person from what we've seen on social media. So let me just say that I you know what? If they're happy, that's all that matters. I'm just sharing my opinion. That's my opinion.

42:53Hayden Panettiere:Yeah. I mean, I think everyone that watches Summer House or follows Remy Bader even lightly can say that's not controversial to say.

43:02Remi Bader:Yeah.

43:02Hayden Panettiere:So I agree. It's so random. I was like, what the fuck?

43:06Remi Bader:I know. I'm like, what is happening?

43:08Hayden Panettiere:I got so many texts about it. Everyone's like, what's this about?

43:12Remi Bader:I know.

43:14Hayden Panettiere:I'm like, your question is as good as mine. I don't know.

43:17Remi Bader:Which, by the way, you guys, I'm still crying laughing from when we were talking about Brooke Snader last week on Dark Energy Thursday. And Christy goes, who art thou?

43:25Hayden Panettiere:No, literally, I'm still confused. And we always have the people in our comments, which I love and appreciate. They're like, no, here are you guys, but the Nader show is like 10 out of 10. I'm like, I still won't watch it.

43:36Remi Bader:What about like the European baby snarks that are like, no, this is actually really normal. I'm like, I refuse. is that is that close-minded of me to say that I refuse to believe it's normal to be topless with your dad even if you're European I feel like what they were saying the European baby snarks were

43:51Hayden Panettiere:like it's normal to be like topless on a beach like that's not as crazy but like the dad thing

43:56Remi Bader:was weird the dad that's what I'm saying like of course it's it's not weird to be topless on a beach in Europe yeah and I know that Europe isn't a monolith someone was like Europe is a monolith I'm like, you know what I mean? Yeah. But, yeah. So, who are thou?

44:15Hayden Panettiere:No, literally. They are trying so hard to make us know her, and I don't care. I'm already—do you know how many people I have to keep track of in my head? I don't need another one, okay? I just don't. I'm sick of it.

44:27Remi Bader:I know. I completely agree. Should we—like, I'm, like, too exhausted to even talk about the Jax and Brittany stuff, honestly. It's so much—basically, you guys, let's just, like, sum it up really fast. Jack posted a fucking typo riddled rant. A Coke field rant. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. That man is not sober. Accusing, accusing Brittany of essentially lying about how Cruz is doing and his progress and saying that he has receipts and his emails. And it was so granular and detailed. And like, I, I feel, you know, I can have my own feelings about Brittany. two things to be true at once, right? Like, Jax is an absolutely psychotic, pathological liar.

45:13Remi Bader:Brittany also is not that smart. So, like, part of me was like, wait, do I, like, kind of believe this? But then I'm like, if Jax had receipts, why is he not posting them?

45:22Hayden Panettiere:Yeah, basically he was saying, like, Brittany didn't follow doctor recommendations about, like, putting him into, like, specific, like, learning programs and Cruz wouldn't have even been enrolled in the school if it weren't for Jax. And he has proof from the principal and from LAUSD. And he just is basically saying she's neglecting Cruz's, like, education. And that she's lying about his lack of, his absence in Cruz's life. Like, he's actually been far more present in Cruz's life than Brittany's making it out to be on podcasts and press for the show. So I think when it comes to Brittany, like, I told Sophie this, like, offline in the Snarkbait Girls.

46:00Hayden Panettiere:Brittany, I don't think, is a bad person. I think she genuinely means well. I just don't think she's the brightest bulb in the whatever you want to call it. I think that's fair to say. But she's kind of like a little bit ditzy. And I feel like if this were happening, maybe she wasn't enrolling crews in the specific programs that therapists recommended for him. Like I could see that simply because I just think she's a little bit like inner heady. And she probably like didn't follow up or something. I'm not saying she's a bad mom. I'm just saying that she's kind of forgetful.

46:29Remi Bader:She does her best. But yeah, she's not like you said, she's not the sharpest tool. and um and if Jax has receipts like post them where are the receipts show them um Zach obviously came to her defense and said um everything he has stated is a lie he lives in a delusional land with delusional facts he so badly wants attention to victimhood and it is interesting because it feels like once again he is trying to control Brittany trying to hurt Brittany from afar and also blaming all of his problems on Britney saying, oh, sorry, that's Baxter. That's okay. Saying that, you know, Britney is sabotaging his brand deals.

47:10Remi Bader:It's like, Jax, no brand wants to partner with you regardless of Britney. What brands? Look in the fucking mirror, not Smartwater. No, I know.

47:19Hayden Panettiere:See, and that's where Jax, like he always, he just loses me every fucking time. It's like, stop insulting our intelligence. We know no brands are reaching out to you. Stop.

47:27Remi Bader:Yeah. He's so delusional constantly.

47:29Hayden Panettiere:It's like, yeah, two things can be true at once. Jax was likely in a Coke-filled rant when this was written. Typos everywhere, run-on sentences, et cetera, et cetera. Brittany is also a little bit ditzy, and maybe she did neglect to, like, sign Cruz up for certain curriculum, whatever. Okay? Like, I don't think she's a bad person. I don't think she's a bad mom. I just think she's a little bit.

47:49Remi Bader:No, I think that's fair to say. Like, two things can be true at once.

47:53Hayden Panettiere:Okay, well, speaking of the Valley, I see you have a note written about fucking Luke. I cannot fucking stand Luke. I'm sorry. I hate him so much. I know.

48:05Remi Bader:I hate him so much. I think that he is absolutely terrifying. And when he said, he was asked, like, would you propose to Kristen again after knowing her pregnant or postpartum or whatever? It's a yes or no question. And just say yes. Just lie. Just fucking lie. And he says, you know what? I have to think. It's a tough question. I have to think about it. Obviously, Kristen looks devastated. And she's like, you know what? I'm just happy he's, it hurts to hear, but I'm happy he's telling the truth. No, no, that man hates you. And like, he acts like he's so inconvenient that he can't go fishing and hunting anymore.

48:47Remi Bader:You had a baby and you had a baby completely on purpose. We saw you try really, really, really hard for that baby. What did you think would happen? That your life would just be completely normal again after? Yeah, you think it would be the same? Like, he's so fucking annoying.

49:02Hayden Panettiere:He loves to make it about himself. Also, did you see that on his little unsupervised dad YouTube channel? He has 20 subscribers.

49:09Remi Bader:It's so scary. And he's posting, like, shirtless pictures of him with Thirstraps. It's so disgusting. Ryan, do you have Nick Vile? No, a hundred. They kind of have, like, the same look. The vibe. Yeah. They have the same look, the same vibe. Oh, my God. I hate them. They could be brothers. They really could. Like, I hate them both so much. um yeah like luke is absolutely terrifying also what do nia and danny have on kristin and luke

49:35Hayden Panettiere:why are kristin and luke so like hellbent on defending them like they are their own children it makes no sense to me they're obsessed with them it's really fucking weird honestly it's absolutely bizarre like why are you so why do you guys have this weird alliance and it's i love it when britney britney was really burning it this season like i was actually pretty proud of her she was willing to call Kristen out and she was like you we can never say anything bad badly about anything bad about Danny or Nia yeah loves to defend them no matter what but it's like really what is what's there why do you feel the need to defend them like so so hard I don't understand I

50:12Remi Bader:feel like she feels like maybe some sort of like deep connection to Nia and Danny because they had their babies at the same time and they went through that process together um and I think Danny and Nia were fan favorites up until this season, I would say. A hundred percent. And so Kristen, I feel like Kristen really cares with the audience things, obviously. And she was siding with who she thought were the fan favorites. Turns out they're not anymore. And then she was kind of changing her tune at the reunion, but still, she obviously sticks with them. Also, can I just say, Lala needs to shut the fuck up.

50:44Remi Bader:Shut the fuck up. I'm so tired of her interrupting. Yeah, she does do that. I appreciated her going after Dani this season. I really did. But like she does this at every reunion and it reminds me why I hate her.

51:00Hayden Panettiere:Yeah. Her voice is the most important on those reunions. No one else can like speak over her. Yeah. Oh my God.

51:07Remi Bader:And she like didn't even have a storyline this season. Like what was your storyline even? Like shut the fuck up, Lala. She's so annoying. She loves the sound of her own voice.

51:16Hayden Panettiere:You're right. She didn't have her own storyline. Her storyline, I appreciated it. for calling out Danny when no one else would. But like, yeah, to your point, she herself did not have any, I know nothing about her after this season. What she's going through, what her journey is raising two kids, one of them who she had through a sperm donor. Like I know nothing. Yeah. I would like to actually learn more about how she, like where she's at. But yeah, she keeps things very close to the vest. And I think she knows her assignment when coming onto this TV show. She's like, listen, I know people are going to be pissed that I'm back on their screens, including Sophie and I.

51:46Hayden Panettiere:We were so fucking annoyed. she definitely did her job by coming after Danny because everyone was so trepidatious the last two seasons of coming after Danny really except Jax and now Jax isn't here so Lala was like I know my role I'm getting into it but it's like she needs to step it up a little bit when it comes to showing more of herself

52:03Remi Bader:I completely completely agree and shutting the fuck up at reunions yeah

52:08Hayden Panettiere:she needs to work on that um freaking the valley I'm I was also thinking about my Bravo lineup when is Southern Charming running yeah

52:18Remi Bader:I feel like Southern Charm might... I don't know, actually.

52:24Hayden Panettiere:No, I know for a fact they wrapped filming because I remember seeing that. Like, they'd had a wrap party at, like, Republic or something.

52:33Remi Bader:The reunion was just in March, so it's probably going to be a long time. Gosh. Yeah, because I was just going to say they just finished the last season, airing the last season. Yeah, they don't have an air date yet. so I it's probably gonna be like early next year I bet um I want to I'm loving Next Gen NYC and I know you don't watch but you have to watch it um I everyone tells me I need to watch that in Southern Hospitality I don't watch Southern Hospitality maybe one day but Next Gen NYC is so fucking good like you have to watch it really now like Southern Hospitality isn't airing now. Right.

53:10Remi Bader:Next Gen NYC airing now. You got to watch it. You got to get like in with the discourse. It's so good. It's so good.

53:17Hayden Panettiere:Is it season two now?

53:18Remi Bader:Yeah. Start. Yeah. Start with season one. I mean, it's not it's probably like eight episodes the first season. Like it's not that much to catch up on. It's so good. And then we can talk about it. Yeah.

53:29KJ Dillard:As a lifelong renter who's probably going to be renting for the rest of my life at this point, It's hard for me to justify splurging on custom furniture or like chic, expensive vintage home finds when I know this isn't my forever home. 57:10Remi Bader:Let's get into our dark energy objects. I need to go first because I feel very passionately about mine. It's actually very recent this happened this morning. You guys know, I've gone over this before, that I have a very set routine in the mornings, especially on the days we record. I'm the same thing for breakfast every single day. I have Greek yogurt and fruit and my favorite purely Elizabeth granola every morning. I do not stray away from my routine, but I was having a craving for my favorite quiche. And it's from this place called Isle of Us on the Upper East Side. I think they might have multiple locations, but there's one on the Upper East Side.

57:50And I love, I should gatekeep this probably, but I love their quiche so much.

57:57Remi Bader:And so I was like, I was having craving and we're recording. I was like, I'm going to treat myself, you know? So I ordered the quiche and a few other things like coffee, a few other things. And lo and behold, the delivery driver stole it. So what? So he took my doorman confirmed this. She said my door woman, Carmen, shout out Carmen. She confirmed. So the restaurant, I called the restaurant. The restaurant was like, yeah, like we sent the delivery driver said that he delivered. He took a picture of the food in your lobby. And I called the lobby and my door woman was like, he took a picture. Yeah, he took it.

58:41Remi Bader:He took a picture and then he goes, fuck this. I don't have time for this. And then he took the food and left. What? I know. And I was so much. And here's the worst part. So I was gonna just order it again. I'm like, I am having such a craving for the specific. Call DoorDash.

58:57Hayden Panettiere:Yeah. Tell them do it. It was Uber Eats, by the way.

58:59Remi Bader:And I always have a fucking issue with Uber Eats. It's always Uber Eats, not DoorDash. So I called the restaurant and they said they had no more quiche. No. Because it's something they have to make in like batches. They're like, we're out of quiche. So I couldn't even get my quiche. Dude, that's a criminal right there. For real. No, I'm so fucking upset, you guys. And like the fact that like the one time where I was like, you know what? I'm going to treat myself. It's a rainy Monday morning. I'm craving this specific quiche. I don't want anything else. I want this quiche. and, yeah, it got stolen from me.

59:31Remi Bader:So that's my DEO.

59:33Hayden Panettiere:No, that's like a sinister energy object.

59:38Remi Bader:And, like, the fact that I couldn't just reorder it because they didn't have any quiche left.

59:42Hayden Panettiere:Yeah, it's one of those days. You know what I mean, Nance? It really is.

59:46Remi Bader:I was like, is this a bad omen? Like, I'm going to have a bad day now, right? No, I know.

59:49Hayden Panettiere:It's like, as if we didn't suffer enough last night from the devastating news of Hayden. Like, it's just, it's bleeding into, like... It's already like it's just I feel like there's something I know that it's like ha ha ha that this like funny thing happened to me and it's not that big of a deal, obviously.

1:00:05Remi Bader:But it's also like why? Stealing, though. That's fucked up. Like I I'm able to laugh it off. But what if I was really having the worst day of my life and all I wanted was this delivery? And you're going to take that from me? No, I would be. Why? I just I don't understand.

1:00:22Hayden Panettiere:You know, I'll be talking to the manager at Uber Eats. I would have called already.

1:00:26Remi Bader:Oh, I actually deleted Uber Eats. I was like, something like this always happens when I use Uber Eats. I'm a DoorDash girly for life now. Like, I'm so done with Uber Eats. I only ever have issues with Uber Eats. I swear to God.

1:00:36Hayden Panettiere:Now that you're saying that. Yeah. Because we always order food at work and DoorDash never fails me. The one time we ordered from Uber Eats.

1:00:42Remi Bader:DoorDash never fails. Never.

1:00:43Hayden Panettiere:The one time we ordered from Uber Eats, they gave a scene. It was like a different restaurant. We're like, what? Yeah.

1:00:48Remi Bader:Oh my God. They literally always fuck it up. I swear to God. If anyone from DoorDash HQ is listening to this, sponsor us because we actually genuinely love DoorDash. You guys always come through. Uber Eats, fuck you.

1:01:01Hayden Panettiere:No, genuinely. They need more robust controls and leadership out there.

1:01:07Remi Bader:Yeah, there's something really, really, really going wrong at Uber Eats HQ. Oh, you have a lot of others. You want to keep going? No. These other ones are just kind of silly, like nostril zits. I had a really painful one the other day, but it's fine now.

1:01:23Hayden Panettiere:That's like, those aren't even funny. That's actually so severely painful. It's horrible.

1:01:28Remi Bader:I know. They're so painful. They're so annoying. They're like just the worst. Oh, and then also, I guess I'll just say it. People who beg people to buy their books just so they can say they're New York Times bestsellers. Serena fucking Kerrigan. I'm sorry. She is releasing her Let's Fucking Date book. have not talked about this because I don't even want to give it any promotion because she does not deserve it. She does not know what the fuck she's talking about. And she keeps begging people on TikTok to buy it just so she can make the New York Times bestseller list. Why do you want? I understand that's a very prestigious title, but it's like if you're either going to be one or you're not.

1:02:08Remi Bader:The fact that you're begging just so you can make this list is like so embarrassing to me. I just I hate it.

1:02:13Hayden Panettiere:Or buy it in bulk and then have a dagger by your name like a normal person.

1:02:16Remi Bader:Yeah. Like get over it. Get over the fact that you'll have a dagger.

1:02:19Hayden Panettiere:Yeah.

1:02:19Remi Bader:If you want it that badly, then have a dagger instead of begging your followers. It's so embarrassing and desperate.

1:02:25Hayden Panettiere:I fear that our podcast has influenced people to start following Serena fucking Kerrigan because Maria, who you've met many, like randomly have met her like twice.

1:02:36Remi Bader:Yeah. Living in the streets of New York. So funny.

1:02:39Hayden Panettiere:Every week she texts me about Serena fucking and I'm like, dude, I fear you're a fan.

1:02:43Remi Bader:But she hate follows her.

1:02:44Hayden Panettiere:She hate follows her, but now I'm like, Maria, I fear you're actually a fan now.

1:02:48Remi Bader:No, like she's been pretty innocuous for the past like year or so. Like she used to be my BC. Well, maybe it's also because she blocked us. So like, I don't even know what she's up to these days, but I still see her come across my for you page on TikTok and she's begging people. She has this thing where she has like a jar of jelly beans or something. And she goes, and this is how many more I need to make the New York Times bestseller list. And it's like, if you need to beg people, then you don't deserve to be on that

1:03:14KJ Dillard:list. You're either going to make it on the list or you won't.

1:03:16Hayden Panettiere:Yeah.

1:03:17KJ Dillard:Yeah. Then it just doesn't feel

1:03:20Hayden Panettiere:like real. I wouldn't feel fulfilled.

1:03:22Remi Bader:Yeah, exactly. If you do end up on the list, then like, okay, you begged people. You had to beg. It's embarrassing. Okay, sorry. I'm done.

1:03:30Hayden Panettiere:Well, if you guys want to leave us a five-star review, here's me begging. Please. Oh, please leave us a five-star review.

1:03:35Remi Bader:It's the same thing. Yeah. Yeah.

1:03:37Hayden Panettiere:I have no issues with doing that. So we love you, baby Snarks. We would appreciate it very much. Okay, my DEO is like, I feel like every time I, I've been going back and forth to and from my mom's house because my sister's in town and whatever. It's not important. But like, basically, I feel like I'm always like schlepping so much shit because Audrey's like, bring me this, bring me that. I left this, I left that. And like, I'm always trying to schlep things back and forth, back and forth. And like, you know, when you have something by the door and you're like, I'm going to bring this and you just forget it.

1:04:05Hayden Panettiere:And then you're like, whatever on your commute for me I'm in the car and I'm like already like two miles from my house

1:04:10Remi Bader:like well I'm not turning around now yeah wait how far is your mom's house from your house again like 15 minutes it's not bad yeah that's not bad but like I still don't want to like I don't want to turn my ass around yeah I don't know I I totally get that it's really annoying it is it

1:04:24Hayden Panettiere:just pisses me off so I'm just I'm over it yeah I was actually thinking about because I always

1:04:29Remi Bader:forget some sort of like I have my toiletry bag and I have like some like toiletry size because I like, especially in the summer, I go to the Jersey shore a lot. I go to, you know, my in-laws in Philly. Like I'm, I feel like we're just all over the place during the summer. And I always end up forgetting some sort of toiletry. Like I have some essentials already like in there, but then I also want my like everyday moisturizer and my hair stuff and all of the other things. And I always forget something. So I was thinking about how I need like a toiletry bag that is just ready to go with everything with minis and I could just grab it.

1:05:02Remi Bader:And it takes like the annoyance out of like forgetting toiletries. That's a life hack.

1:05:07Hayden Panettiere:I kind of love that idea.

1:05:09Remi Bader:I feel like it kind of is too, right?

1:05:10Hayden Panettiere:Because I always forget floss and like I floss very diligently and that bothers me so much when I can't floss when I'm out.

1:05:16Remi Bader:Forgetting floss is actually a nightmare scenario. I actually wrote this down on my DEOs a couple of weeks ago when I went to Carousel. I forgot floss and I was in the fucking, I think we flew out of JFK maybe. JFK. Hate JFK. But I went to every single Hudson News, every single little newsstand, everywhere looking for floss. None of them had floss. And I guess it's a very common thing that people forget so that they're always sold out at the airport. And I was so panicked because I floss, obviously like a normal person, I floss at least once a day, usually twice a day. and I at the hotel you know I called I learned from Christy I was like I'm gonna call downstairs and I'm gonna demand some floss they didn't have floss but they had they had toothpicks so I was using a toothpick all week when I was in carousine I was like you know what I kind of fuck with this honestly that's how that's in the olden days I feel like that's what I used to do I know and then I was like walking around with a toothpick hanging out of my mouth like Talking like Danny Booko.

1:06:25Remi Bader:Four under four.

1:06:27Hayden Panettiere:Sophie's like boarding the boat. She has a toothpick in her mouth. Yeah. Hey, howdy, I'm Sophie. I don't know why I'm giving you in Southern accent. I know.

1:06:36Remi Bader:The Titanic leaves for America in five minutes. Five minutes. Sorry.

1:06:42Hayden Panettiere:Oh, my gosh. Fabrizio.

1:06:45Remi Bader:Fabrizio.

1:06:46Hayden Panettiere:Oh, I love him.

1:06:47Remi Bader:Okay, so light energy object. Mine. Dreaming at number two. You guys, I'm obsessed with Little Singles on TLC. What the fuck is this? Wait, I told you about this. Oh, yeah.

1:07:00Hayden Panettiere:I think I should be a contestant.

1:07:02Remi Bader:Oh, my God. So Little Singles on TLC is, and I'm usually not a TLC viewer, but it is a bunch of little people. And they're LPs. They call themselves LP. and um they are single living in a house in palm springs and i think um tonight is either the finale or the penultimate episode and it is so good you guys it's like a combination of like summer house and love island honestly oh um they're like hooking up sammy is a fuck boy if you guys are watching, you know, Sammy's a fuck boy. Steph, Steph is jealous of Krista. So is JJ, honestly, like there's like a love triangle situation. Like it is so good.

1:07:50Remi Bader:You guys, if you are missing summer, I saw someone actually baby snark posts on Tik TOK. So then I posted on Instagram and she was like, hi, I'm a baby snark. But she was like, if you are missing summer house, watch little singles. I swear.

1:08:00Hayden Panettiere:Where do you stream it?

1:08:02Remi Bader:On TLC, but also HBO max.

1:08:05Hayden Panettiere:Okay. Yeah. because I was like, I don't have TLC.

1:08:07Remi Bader:It's so good, you guys. I'm usually not a TLC viewer at all. And my mom loves TLC. So like it's kind of a show that me and my mom are watching together and always talking about every Monday night. It airs on Monday nights. And again, I'm not sure if it's the finale tonight or the penultimate episode. But either way, I'm sad that it's not to end.

1:08:24Hayden Panettiere:I'm sorry. Growing up, I loved watching My Strange Addiction on TLC. Remember the girl that would eat like, this can't be real. But like the girl that ate the cushion, the couch cushions.

1:08:34Remi Bader:Yeah, they would eat crazy things. on that show.

1:08:37Hayden Panettiere:Like, I love bleach. I love eating bleach. Like, or like the, you know, like that, not the bleach, like barkeeper's friend, like those like crystal kind of things that you, like, I don't know what I'm talking about. Like the bleach, the dust. What do you call it?

1:08:52Remi Bader:I'm not sure, but they would eat, whatever it is, they would eat crazy things. It can't be real. I love cheesy potatoes.

1:08:58Hayden Panettiere:They're ooey, they're gooey. And their husband, like her husband tried to feed her broccoli. She started gagging.

1:09:03Remi Bader:No, like I feel like it's time for me to, become a TLC girly because I love Little Singles so much. Like maybe I need to let me know if you guys watch TLC, what is your favorite TLC show that I should watch next? And also, did you watch Little Singles? Because I am all over Little Singles TikTok and it seems like a lot of Bravo fans are watching it. Like I'm serious. You're so funny. No, but there's like a lot of crossover with like the Summer House viewers. And like I said, it's kind of like Summer House Love Island. Like it is so good, you guys, I swear. And I'm curious how many Baby Starks are watching it.

1:09:38Remi Bader:And I always kept forgetting to talk about it on DT because it was always on my list and I would forget to talk about it. And now it's like almost over. But yeah, let me know. Were you watching?

1:09:48Hayden Panettiere:Little Singles. Okay, well, speaking of recommendations, I'm reading Yesteryear, which I think was like a GMA book. And I'm really, really liking it. Someone told me on our Patreon, we have like a business partner group chat. and I was like, has anyone read yesteryear? And someone was saying, well, it kind of takes a turn in the latter half, so I don't know if you're ready for that. And now I'm like very concerned. I'm like, what do you mean? It seems pretty normal so far. It's basically about a trad wife influencer that wakes up and she's living in the late 1800s with like the same husband but different children in the same house.

1:10:18Remi Bader:Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I've heard so much about it and it's going to become a movie with Anne Hathaway. Well, I told you this last week, I think. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I really want to read it. I haven't yet. It's on my list. but I have heard good things. And right now I'm reading, I think I talked about this last week too, that I'm reading first lie ones. And it's so bad, you guys. I'm so close to not finishing it, but now I'm like 75 % through that. I'm like, I have to finish it at this point. It is so bad. That's actually a good dark energy object.

1:10:46Hayden Panettiere:Hating a book when you're too far in.

1:10:48Remi Bader:Yeah, it's like, I just, I can't like not finish it now. I'm just, I actually wanted to stop probably around like 40%. And now I'm like 75. I'm like, I can't stop now. It's just, it's so bad. And I love like stupid thrillers, but it's like just, it's so bad. So don't read that. Would not recommend. I told you the last book that I read, Count My Lies, good. Same author? First, no, different author. First Lie wins, bad. Different books, similar titles.

1:11:18Hayden Panettiere:Yeah. I'm also reading At Night, The Only One Left by Riley Sager. And it's, I'm like. Oh, I love Riley Sager. Yeah, he's amazing. But basically it's about a woman who she works at a, she's a caregiver, like at a, she was at a caregiving whatever group. And there is this urban legend that a family that lives in her town, this woman massacred her entire, annihilated her entire family. But she was never found like guilty of the crime. But it's like an urban legend that she was the one who actually did in fact kill her family. And now this woman needs a caretaker. So this woman goes into her huge mansion at the top of the hill to become this, like, potential murderer's caregiver.

1:11:58Hayden Panettiere:And there's, like, a lot of—I heard it has a crazy twist at the end. So I'm actually really like—it kind of takes you—you know when you're reading a book and you, like, feel like you're in this, like, beach town where there's a lot of—

1:12:07Remi Bader:It's atmospheric.

1:12:07Hayden Panettiere:Yeah, it's very atmospheric. It's moody. It's dark. I haven't really liked it so far.

1:12:12Remi Bader:Good to know. I love our little—now that we're both reading more with our Kindles, our little book recommendation segment that we've been doing. Let us know, you guys, do you have any good book recs for us? Because we're such voracious readers these days.

1:12:26Hayden Panettiere:I know. We're just so smart. It's crazy.

1:12:29Remi Bader:But tomorrow on the Patreon, we are doing an AMA. We talk about Jackie Oshry, ex Usha Vance. And what else? We talk about is Harry Styles' dark energy. So many things. So that is on Patreon tomorrow. Like I said, Thursday is a deep dive of one of the stars of 21 Jump Street. I won't tell you who. It's a surprise. And yeah, our Patreon also has ad free Tuesday, Thursday episodes. That link is in our show notes. Our newsletter goes out every Friday. Snark bite. That is also in our show notes. And I think that's it.

1:13:05Hayden Panettiere:Yeah. Thank you guys so much. And we'll see you tomorrow on Patreon or on Thursday for another deep dive. Love you so much. Bye. Bye.

1:13:25KJ Dillard:I've been a diehard TaskRabbit stan long before they were a sponsor. I cannot remember the last time I moved without enlisting a tasker, whether it was for assembling furniture, mounting a TV, hanging artwork. The list goes on. And it's not just during a move when your to-do list can feel like it's 10 pages long. Sometimes I really just need an extra hand for those little things I feel like I never end up getting around to myself. Like finally hanging the wedding photos, I promised myself and Henry that I do for months now. Wherever you are, TaskRabbit is there to help. TaskRabbit connects you with skilled taskers in your area for moving, furniture, assembly, home repairs, yard work, mounting, and more.

1:14:03KJ Dillard:You can search for a tasker based on cost, skill set, availability, and past client reviews so you know exactly who's showing up and can have confidence that they know what they're doing. It's okay to ask for help with your to-do list, you guys. In fact, it's the most efficient way to get things done, in my humble opinion. When life happens, your to-do list grows. Get ahead of it now and get$15 off your first task at TaskRabbit.com or on the TaskRabbit app using promo code SNARK. Taskers book up fast, especially for same-day tasks, so book trusted home help today. That's$15 off your first task using promo code SNARK with the TaskRabbit app or at TaskRabbit.com.

1:14:43KJ Dillard:As a lifelong renter who's probably going to be renting for the rest of my life at this point, it's hard for me to justify splurging on custom furniture or like chic, expensive vintage home finds when I know this isn't my forever home. That's what Wayfair is for. Because even though renting makes me less enthusiastic about spending money on furniture and home decor, I still want my apartment to feel chic and elevated. Duh. I've turned to Wayfair for home upgrades for over a decade now, long before they were a sponsor. From an armoire in our second bedroom to our randomly extremely chic wicker laundry basket that I'm literally obsessed with, Wayfair makes quality pieces that stand up to real life without breaking the bank.

1:15:22KJ Dillard:Budget-friendly but chic finds make all the difference in your space, in my opinion, whether you're a renter like me or an actual homeowner, which don't rub it in. You can even see real customer feedback and photos before you buy, so you can shop with confidence. And with Wayfair rewards, you can get 5 % back on every purchase, helping you get even more value from your Wayfair purchases, and create a home you love without overspending. 1:16:03KJ Dillard:Nothing makes you appreciate good bedding more than a hot August night. Having something that's lightweight, breathable, cool, and easy to sleep in no matter how hot it gets is so freaking important. That's why I love Quince. It's my go-to for bedding for so long now with high-quality materials like 100 % European linen and organic cotton. You can feel the difference, you guys. It feels like you're in a hotel bed, okay? Quince has everything you need to give your bed the biggest upgrade, from breathable sheets to linen shams and duvet covers and soft seasonal colors, stripes, timeless neutrals, you name it.

1:16:37KJ Dillard:My absolute favorite is their 100 % organic cotton percale sheets and duvet cover. The material is so crisp and comfy. And when nights start to get cooler this fall, their lightweight quilts and coverlets at the perfect finishing layer, adding warmth, texture, coziness to your bed as we go into fall and winter.
