In short
The episode is an “emergency press conference” reacting to two celebrity blowups: Kymanda (Amanda Batula and Kyle Cooke) announcing their divorce, and Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz’s family feud.
Guests
Stark Bait hosts Sophie and Christy (no additional guests mentioned). They discuss news from Instagram stories and blind items.
Kymanda key claims
The divorce feels “mutual and amicable,” but they argue it was driven by Amanda’s career independence (swimwear line), Kyle’s DJ tour (“Let Him Cook”), and Amanda’s growing confidence after seeing friend Paige leave Craig. They speculate the split may have happened months earlier (rumors by blind items; possible June separation). They also discuss mental health/SSRI clarity, incompatibility around kids, and Kyle’s alleged post-split behavior (a rumor he was canoodling in Toronto).
Notable examples
Kyle sleeping at a fan’s house; Summer House trailer/fan-house photos; Loverboy equity/prenup discussion (no prenup signed; possible debt/equity concerns).
Beckham family feud key claims
Brooklyn alleges at their wedding Mark Anthony called him to the stage, but instead Victoria danced “inappropriately” on him, humiliating him. Hosts debate “team Brooklyn” vs “everyone sucks,” citing Nicola’s alleged past (nanny incident) and the power dynamics of wealthy nepo families.
Notable examples
Romeo’s earlier claim the family was “blocked”; Victoria withdrawing/altering a Valentino dress design at the last minute (contradicted by Vogue’s “year-long process” claim).

36Hi, guys. Welcome to an emergency press conference. This is Stark Bait. I'm Sophie. I'm Christy. And you might have just heard from us on Dark Energy Tuesday, but this episode could not wait. You guys know that we record on Fridays for Dark Energy Tuesday. And as top calls, we like to have the episodes. This news dropped less than 24 hours ago on Monday, January 19th. And the group chats were freaking out. Instagram was popping off. Kaimanda, Brooklyn, Becca. We have so much to talk about. And Sophie and I knew that we had to do this. Yeah, you know we had to do it to them. Jump on the mic. And, yeah, I just, it was actually rude that both of them decided to drop these Instagram stories after we recorded Dark Energy Tuesday.
24Like, won't someone think of the baby Snarks? Don't they know our schedule? Like, how dare they? Yeah, how could they? But in any case, we're here, obviously, to break it all down. We just could not wait. Should we just get into it? But yes, please. Let's talk about Ky Amanda first because I know that you're incredibly excited to discuss this topic. I apologize, guys. It's 6 a.m. today, and I apologize if I flubbed my words. We can barely speak. We just recorded some ads and we like literally can't speak. You guys, it's a rough morning, but anything for you guys because this is incredibly urgent news.
02But okay, Ky Amanda has officially announced they are getting divorced, and we all kind of saw it coming. At the same time, we're still shocked because we never thought we would see it coming. What were your initial thoughts and reactions, Sophie, when you saw the news drop? Where were you? Tell me everything. Oh, my God. It's one of those things. We talk about this. Those moments where you will never forget where you were. I actually got the news from trigger warning Ryan Bailey. I was, like, taking, like, a mini nap on the couch yesterday because it was a long weekend. And thank God I woke up when I did or I would have been too late.
34I had a text. So before I even opened Instagram, I had a text. So Amanda and Kyle both posted this statement on their Instagram stories. After much reflection, we have mutually and amicably decided to part ways as a couple. We share this with a heavy heart and kindly ask for your grace and support while we focus on our personal growth and healing. It feels ironic to ask for privacy during this time since we've always tried to be open and honest about our relationship. But your kindness and respect will go a long way as we try to navigate our next chapter. Amanda and Kyle. So I think what's interesting about this is that obviously none of us are surprised, but at the same time, it is surprising because we've seen Amanda put up with so much.
17It's like, what was the breaking point? What was the moment where she was like, okay, I'm done finally. Like, I'm just shocked there finally was, that it just finally happened. Yeah, I think there to answer that question, what was the breaking point? I think it might have been two factors. I think Paige leaving Craig was kind of a she kind of saw Paige almost as this like role model like, wow, you were able to leave a really stable, seemingly healthy. I don't think it was that healthy relationship. You guys were earning money as a couple. You guys were doing the damn thing. You guys could walk down the aisle, had kids, whatever, lived happily ever after.
56Paige leaving Craig, I think, was a big part of Amanda kind of getting her chutzpah, her cojones to kind of do the same. I think she saw her friend doing it and she's like, I can do this too. I think her swimwear line and being able to do something like in terms of a career endeavor that was outside of Kyle, outside of Loverboy was also a huge pivot for her. Well, I can actually provide benefit to not just Loverboy, but to another company that wants to work with me. And then number three, I think we all have to say it, the DJ tour. I think his DJ career was really the last straw. And you called it two weeks ago or whenever it was that Kyle dropped that he was going on the Let Him Cook tour.
33I believe it's what it's called. You were like, this is it. This is the straw that broke the camel's back. They're done. Like, if I wasn't sure of this before, I'm sure of it now. They're 100 % done. I think those three factors were largely contributory to this divorce. That was the divorce announcement, I feel like. The DJ tour graphic. Let Him Cook. The Let Him Cook tour. That was the divorce announcement as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, I completely agree that I think she came into her own realizing that, you know, I am successful and famous in my own right. I do not need Kyle. I think that part of it also is the fact that the spinoff is happening.
14so wait what spinoff sorry in the city spinoff you know this yes sorry sorry oh my god the spinoff the spinoff is happening so i feel like summer house it was hard to untangle herself from kyle when summer house was airing because i feel like she felt like she needed summer house and to a agree she probably did for her career. And Kyle is Summer House. Yes. You know, like she started the show. Yeah. She couldn't do Summer House if they split. But with this spinoff, they can both be on it, but separately living their own lives because it's just about Kyle, Amanda, Lindsay, and co living their lives in the city.
57You know, like it's like how many Vanderpump Rules couples were able to be co-stars on Vanderpump Rules after breaking up, you know, Stassi and Jax, Jodi and Sandoval. Like, it's different when they're not in a share house, when they're not in summer house. I think that that also helped her pull the trigger, was knowing that she had this spinoff. But I don't know. So apparently, I actually read, who posted it? Someone posted a blind item. I think it was DeMoyne or Bravo and Cocktails. I don't know about how they split as early, possibly, as June of last summer. So there are rumors that they split quite some time ago, or at least by all accounts and purposes, separated or were taking time apart.
49And I think that tracks with the amount of rumors we were hearing about them living separately. I mean, And like I said, I feel like on the past few episodes that we've talked about them, the rumor mill, I was more prone to believe this time. I was like, it's just there's way too much. Like where there's smoke, there's fire. And I know there's always smoke when it comes to them. But I think that they have been, this has been in the works for quite some time. Wow. I don't doubt that for sure. because we always say when it comes to celebrity relationships or public relationships, when you hear about a separation, I am willing to bet nine times out of 10, that separation happened four or five months ago.
31And they are just now announcing it. So to your point, if this has been in the works for, you know, nearly, I can't do math right now, seven months, I wouldn't be surprised actually, now that you're saying this, because it's January 2026. Yeah, like that's a very high probability. Sorry, five months ago. that actually makes so much sense to me. Five? No, you were right the first time. June. We're dumb. You guys, it's early. It's too early. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. Either way, it's been quite some time. Allegedly, potentially. Could be wrong. Again, this is just a blind item. Another blind item that Bravo and Cocktails posted was that they were apparently spotted at the Bravo office or NBC, whatever fucking office it is, just the other day to discuss this breakup announcement.
16So it seems like something this is something that they obviously had to speak to Bravo about and make sure that everyone was on the same page. But like you said, I feel like when a breakup like this gets announced, it's obviously been in the works for a while. I think that Amanda obviously was checked out for a while. I feel like that especially happens for the women in relationships. Like when a woman breaks up with a guy and obviously, you know, they said it was mutual and amicable. and they were not compatible. I could definitely see this being just two people realizing that they're not compatible.
53I think also Amanda may have had SSRI clarity. Like she started SSRIs in the past few years and she was really struggling with her mental health. And maybe she put two and two together that her mental health was struggling because she was married to a man child, the wrong person. And yeah, I'm just, I'm happy for them because neither of them were happy. And we watched it. They were not compatible. They were forcing a round peg into a square hole. Like they were just not. And we've talked about the sunk cost fallacy before. I think that the sunk cost fallacy really played a part here because they had been together for so long and obviously were so intertwined.
32And how do you untangle that? And how do you justify leaving someone after investing years of your life? But it's never too late to start over. And I'm happy for them. both of them separately yeah a lot of comments on our instagram kept saying happy for both of them because we've said it time and time again on snark bait that these two people are good people separately like we like both of them yeah kyle has some work to do he's a man child but at the same time i don't think they're bad people we're not talking about like a jacks taylor britney cartwright divorce this is like seems i hope to be hopefully a very amicable breakup and i do feel like Amanda has been in kind of a darkness the last couple of seasons and she has chalked it up to her depression which I completely understand Sophie and I are both on I'm on an SSRI I forget yeah me too yeah so like we understand mental health more than anyone we get it but I think ultimately Amanda and Kyle's conversations too about kids and Kyle saying I really want children when are we going to have children and Amanda kept saying I don't know I don't know if I want children I don't know if I can I'm kind of selfish right now I don't know this is the right path for me.
39I think that maybe if Amanda were to find a man that she felt comfortable having children with, who would be home and not out DJing till 4 a.m., she would definitely want to have children. This is just my assumption. She could be correct that she never wants children, and that's totally fine as well. But I think that she could never see herself having children with Kyle. And like, who could blame her? Who would want her husband to be out until 4, 5 a.m., 6 a.m. with fans, drinking and partying, traveling the country? A hundred percent. Exactly. And I mean, we just saw a few months ago when the Summer House trailer a few weeks ago, whenever it was, time is a blur, when the Summer House trailer dropped and there was that moment where they talk about Kyle sleeping at a fan's house and then those pictures leaked of Kyle literally at a fan's house at five or six a.m.
24and everyone like the Snapchat caption was like, help, he's still here. Like, who would who would want to have children with that kind of person? Yeah. And it was interesting. I had a couple of friends over last night and we were talking about what's the next step for the both of them, right? Do you see, one of my friends said, I could see Kyle getting with maybe like a younger woman and maybe impregnating her and having children with her because Kyle does want to be a dad. He's voiced that many times on many seasons. Do you see that future for Kyle? Do you think that's a possibility? I could see Kyle settling down.
01I could see both of them settling down with the right person. Me too. Me too. I think that's what they both want in like a perfect world. They just weren't compatible with each other. I think that both of them will ultimately settle down. I think both of them do want kids. I think that Amanda having her kind of change of heart where she was like, actually, I don't want that right now. I think was because she realized that, you know, it's Kyle. Why would she want to have kids with Kyle? And thank God they didn't. It's the same thing with like Katie and Schwartz. Oh my gosh, yes, I know. It's like, thank God that they, you know, you're free now.
38You know, you really get to kind of separate when you don't have children involved. And yeah, I'm just, I'm happy for them. I also saw people already shipping Amanda with Jesse Sullivan. What are your thoughts on that? Oh, please. It's too soon and it's too early. I have no doubt that Jesse Solomon would try and hitch his wagon to Amanda's. Totally. Because one, he's Cloud Chasey. Two, he always compliments her good looks because she is, in fact, an incredibly gorgeous woman. Three, because he's Jesse Solomon and he would. I want better for Amanda. If she's going to move from Kyle to Jesse Solomon, same shit, different toilet.
17Yeah, no, same shit, different toilet. I think that Amanda is so, I mean, it's like an objective fact. She's so fucking hot. Like, who do we ship her with? I was going to ask you the same question. Amanda looks the best she's ever looked. She's in her prime. She's cool. She's stylish. She's that girl. So I'm trying to think, who would I ship Amanda with? No one on Bravo, please. I don't want her to have that Sierra edit where Sierra latches on from, like, one little guy from Bravo to the other. Embarrassing. Embarrassing. No one on Bravo. I was thinking, like, who's a hot athlete? Who's a hot, like, actor?
54or just a regular guy, obviously, but who's a famous person? Oh, my God. You guys, let us know. I want her to have, like, a Haley Steinfeld type edit where she gets with, like, a Josh Allen or something, you know? Or Joe Burrow. Okay, oh, my God. Joe Burrow and Amanda Batula, I would die. I would love that so much. Is he dating anyone? Olivia Ponton is still... That's, like, still, but they're very private and, like, who knows what's going on with them. I've also seen people, I know this is, like, a quick pivot, Joe Burrow and Madeline Klein. I feel like is something that, yeah. If that's a soft-fit-coded couple, that's, I mean, yeah.
30If not Madeline Klein, Amanda Petula. What about Tom Brady? I know he was just started with Alex Earl. Tom Brady and Amanda Petula. He wouldn't say no. Let's get her a hot, rich athlete. I'm here for that. One other thing I want to talk about is, DeMoyne reported this, so take this with a grain of salt, but on her newsletter, which, yes, I do subscribe to, and by the way we are releasing a plug for our newsletter that's coming out on friday so stay tuned follow us on instagram at snarkbait pod we'll post the links all and all that when it goes live but we're really excited for the newsletter guys we're going to be live on subsec very soon but on dumas newsletter she said that there were rumors of kyle a couple weeks ago he was djing in toronto and he was seen canoodling with a woman that was clearly not amanda was not a woman on his team.
21And again, me and my friends were talking about this all day yesterday. My friend Emily said, I wonder if maybe that rumor forced Kyle's hand because he's kind of getting sloppy with it. Like he's out and about. He's a single guy now. So he can theoretically hang out and canoodle with whomever he wants, as can Amanda. But do you think maybe this rumor could be true? And he's still, he's now out on the streets. Is Kyle out on the streets? And is he out canoodling with fans post-DJ? I mean, probably. Yeah. Yeah. I could see it. Yeah. I miss that, but I don't doubt it at all. And then the whole, like, Loverboy thing.
54So you were talking about, like, Kyle, like, Amanda never had equity in Loverboy. I don't know if she did or did not. We remember there being drama with their prenup. Oh, yes. God, it's been a couple years. There was something with their prenup where, like, Amanda didn't want to sign a prenup. and I think the fact that she didn't sign a prenup is actually bad for her because now she could be on the hook I don't know how anything works but she could be on the hook for some of the debt that Loverboy has because right because now it's a state but like yeah yeah yeah agreed like because I brought up a point yesterday I was like the reason I brought the equity in Loverboy was it was less about because Sophie was like dude Loverboy is worthless like they could never sell or be acquired by any company because they're in the red.
45And we've talked about this before where Claudia from The Toast, when I used to listen, we all know that storyline when it was Spritz Society, her and Ben Stauffer's brand versus Loverboy. And Claudia brought up a point on her show on The Toast where, I guess, Kyle doesn't have any investors in his company. This is all alleged. Like, I haven't fact-checked what Claudia said, but she basically said he has no investors. He has taken on Loverboy as his own personal venture. So it's all taken on through personal loans versus Spritz Society has many an investor, which is why they have so many influencers hawking their brand because they allow some of these influencers to have stake in the company.
23And I think that maybe was part of the reason why Craig and Kyle had a bit of a falling out because I believe, if my assumption serves me correctly, Craig went to Kyle and said, listen, if you give me stake in Loverboy, I would be interested in proceeding and doing some collaborations with you. I don't think Kyle was willing to do so. So Craig went over to Spritz Society and did that brand deal, which caused this whole, you know, dissolution in their relationship. Craig, Craig, and sorry, I was mixing up Carl and Craig in my head. Sorry, yeah. Craig and Kyle had this dissolution in their relationship because Craig was like, I'm going to Spritz.
55But I think you brought up a good point. You're like, like, lover boy is worthless, which I totally agree with. Yes, I don't think that they're making any money, nor do I think that they could be acquired. I was thinking more from the standpoint of like, one, I think Kyle not having any investors in Loverboy speaks to him. It's like an egomania thing. The fact that you think your brand is so valuable that you're not willing to take on any investors, which I think from a business standpoint is so stupid that you're willing to take on that debt to your own personal name is incredibly dumb. I feel like Kyle should be smarter than that and is smarter than that.
29So, I don't understand that approach. But two, the fact that he wouldn't give Amanda equity in the brand, regardless of whether she wanted it or not, gives me a little pause. I'm like, why would you not want to give your wife equity in the brand that she helped you create? It's less about what it's worth and more about do not see her value in the brand to begin with. I think as we've seen it on Loverboy and we've seen the receipts on Summer House, she helped develop that brand. I think the branding that is Loverboy is Amanda. The reason why, a large reason why it is so successful, of course, in congruence with the show and the marketing that the show gives it, is the fact that Amanda has made it so beautiful with her branding.
11So it just, it makes me upset that Kyle never saw, if this, again, you guys, I don't know if she did or did not have equity and Loverboy does, but if she does not, that's pretty messed up, in my opinion. like why would you not give your wife her value when she's contributed so much to this value of this brand of what it is today yeah totally i mean i hope that amanda is not on the hook for any of lover boy's debts because again when you think about like what are they what are they worth nothing in my opinion uh so maybe it's a good thing in the long run but yeah Agreed. Agreed. I don't know. Like, with the equity stuff, like, I truly have no idea.
51I remember—all I remember was the prenup stuff discussed on the show and that they didn't end up signing a prenup. Yeah. Which is so dumb because you're not just—you're protecting yourself when you do that. And from my understanding, Amanda comes from a pretty privileged background. So if she has—you know, she worked to inherit a lot from her parents upon death. she should have signed a prenup just to protect her assets, I feel like. So dumb. I'm sorry. Love Amanda. I think that she totally played that wrong before they got married. Agreed. 100%. I think most would agree with you. I think that she did not play her cards right.
32I think in any case, for her to protect her own self because her family's wealth is probably, I think, Trump's his. Exactly. Is there anything else regarding Ky Amanda that we want to touch on before we move on. No, I think moral of the story is you guys know that we are happy for them. We want the best for them. And let us know your thoughts in the Spotify comments or on our Instagram because our Instagram was popping off yesterday with both of this, with this news, with the divorce. It was like, I, oh my God. Just one of those moments. You will always remember where you were when this news dropped.
06Good job in a graphic, by the way. There's a picture of Kyle and Amanda with like a screenshot on top of it. How did you do that? On just Instagram stories. Christy was like, who did that graphic? And I was like, me? Is it a graphic? Like, can we call it that? That was me. That was me. Graphic design is my passion. Yeah. It was like when Lindsay and Carl ended their engagement. Never forget where I was. Is there any better feeling in the entire world than getting into a clean bed after an amazing relaxing night shower and turning on old Roni? No. And as I've gotten older, I've realized luxury bedding is something you truly don't appreciate until you sleep in it.
45But like, who has the money to spurge on bedding in this economy? Good news, you don't have to. And that's all thanks to Quince. When it comes to Quince, you'll notice the difference right away. 29:24okay let's move on to the beckham family drama christy how are you feeling about all this okay so when i where i was when i found out about the brooklyn beckham receipts the five page instagram story yep sophie texted her group chat and she goes oh my god brooklyn beckham stories and i was about to go on his his instagram until sophie doing the lord's work sent us five screenshots That's that, you know, immediately. I immediately ran to my sister in the kitchen and I started reading. I go, Audrey, stop whatever you're doing. Look what Brooklyn Beckham just told you. Mind you, Audrey has like a baby.
57She is like a child of life. She like was holding like Mo in her arms. She like stopped everything. I was like, everything stop. Look what he just posted. I was shocked because we all know there has been divide in the Beckham family versus Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola. there has been divide since their wedding we've been hearing mumblings in the press but we've never really heard it completely affirmed from what i think from the fam either family until i believe it was roman or one of the beckham's sons came on romeo romeo i think it's romeo yeah romeo came on instagram stories and said whatever you guys may think we've been blocked whatever you guys are hearing in the press it's not true my family has been blocked we don't know what's going on.
40So that's when it's like, oh, shit, maybe something is actually. This is real. This is real. Because otherwise, I feel like I was like, it's probably speculation. Like, who knows? Like, you kind of chalk it up to, like, the press and whatever. But, like, the fact that Romeo posted that, we were like, okay, this is real. Because before that, right, I don't think we had heard any confirmation from either party that this is, in fact, true. So then I was like, oh, my God. But then you keep hearing, like, this mumbling and a source says, source has. But then to come out of Brooklyn Beckham's mouth, he comes out absolutely swinging with crazy, I wouldn't even say receipts, allegations.
18And I think the most crazy allegation of the entire Instagram story, are you going to say it? I know what you're going to say. The dance? The dance. The dance. We're never going to see those tapes, I don't think, because apparently, I mean, when you go to a wedding with those types of people, with the wealth of that kind of people. NDA is like crazy, like an encyclopedia. I don't believe we'll ever see those tapes. I mean, I would pay a big sum of money to be able to see those tapes. I would pay big money for it. And for context, in case you don't know exactly what we're referring to, it is the part of the statement where Romeo said, or not Romeo, Brooklyn says that at their wedding, Mark Anthony called him to the stage where in the schedule, and Mark Anthony was performing, where the schedule was planned to be their romantic first dance, Brooklyn and Nicola.
11But instead, he says, my mom was waiting to dance with me instead. She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to, and this is, you know, why they renewed their vows. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that brings us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment. Did I? I don't know if he said this in a statement, but I was reading a couple articles after the fact. Am I incorrect to say that Mark Anthony said before he brought up Victoria? And now let's welcome the most beautiful woman in the room, Victoria.
48Yes, that is what I know at Nicola's wedding. That is what I don't think he said this in his statement, but apparently, yes, that is what happened. yeah absolutely crazy okay what is your conclusion before we actually dive into like the nitty gritty who are you willing to kind of side with more right now because our instagram comments were heavily team brooklyn like i was brooklyn also lily allen just posted in support of brooklyn no she didn't no and lily allen is like a british you know she's in the uh you know she's british so you know they must be friends she must know what's going on you know she's she's over there across the pond so she posted an edit of brooklyn beckham as her west end girl album cover so basically like i stand with brooklyn beckham we are brooklyn beckham so um i i don't know i took that i thought that was really interesting i'm on team everyone sucks here they do like i also think that like I understand I feel like I could see Brooklyn's point of view and we know I think that we're biased also against Nicola because you heard the stories about her pushing her nanny down the stairs yeah have people forgot like have people forgotten that's a thing do people know that that she like apparently like look it up so we've always been like oh Nicola and she's also like this billionaire nepo baby who's like trying to break into acting and both of them are kind of just like kind of sad nepo babies because they have all these opportunities and all of these resources but they're like actually neither of them really seem talented or successful on their own yes but i understand like brooklyn growing up in an environment with david and victoria too i think they're both probably a little bit narcissistic yeah and the fact that he could have sold this story for cold, hard cash, you know?
51Like, this is like a juicy expose. He was like, I just need to get this out there on Instagram stories. I don't know. I believe Brooklyn. I also think that Brooklyn sucks. So, like, I don't know. What do you think? I love what you just said, and I want to double-click on that a little bit, because you just said that when you have two people, two NEPO babies, that have literally been born with a silver spoon in their mouth, who have been handed everything, your life becomes almost this like, it's unclear what your path is, right? Because I feel like when you have these very wealthy people, no, actually, let me take a sec back.
28I think a lot of life is the journey of achievement. Like it's not necessarily like, whatever, the end of the journey and like, okay, I've achieved this much money, then I'm happy. It's like the journey of getting there. I don't want to compare it to Snark Bay, but like Snark Bay, it's been such a joy because we've seen it grow and it hasn't been an overnight success. We put in a lot of work and dedication and early mornings and late nights and stressful days, like all these things to get to what we deem to be a successful show. And that is a part of the journey for us and it makes us very proud, right?
59I feel like when you have two people that have never had to experience grit or that much of hard work, you almost forget what your purpose is. When you've been handed everything, this is why I think a lot of people who grow up in wealthy families, They turn to a lot of like substance use, which by the way, a baby snark DMed me or I don't know if you saw this, but she's like, don't call it substance abuse because it actually creates a lot of negative connotation. Oh, I didn't see this. Yes. I thought that was really important. That's why a lot of wealthy kids can turn to substance use or bad paths because they just don't have a purpose when you've been given everything.
36So I think that Nicola and Brooklyn kind of come from that pedigree where you are your name, but you've done nothing to earn that name. I think Brooklyn, however, more so because Brooklyn's family grew up in the press. They were kind of America's royal family a little bit in the early in the 90s, in the early 2000s. Like Beckham and Posh, they were the it couple, the most beautiful couple, this beautiful, beautiful girl. Beautiful couple. Beautiful couple, beautiful family. And Brooklyn was kind of in the living in the shadows, right, of someone else's dream. And Nicola, however, her family was wealthy, but privately wealthy.
14And we'll get into her family a little bit more. When you think about the wealth that is the Pelts's, the Beckhams don't even hold a candle to Nicola's family. Like Nicola's family is American royalty. Yes. And so I feel like Brooklyn has probably more of a complex because, again, he's the Beckham name without anything to show for it. really which actually kind of speaks to all of his weird bizarre endeavors he was a chef the photographer never forget the entire and he mentions that in in the statement he's like you know uh what did he say he basically said something along the lines of regardless of my of my personal endeavors your photography book and your attempt to be a chef yeah exactly like I'm sorry what endeavors yeah it's like what what endeavors like you're not Patrick I don't know why Patrick Schwarzenegger came to mind but like he actually worked obligations professional obligations is what he called it what obligation what obligation what look please clarify please please let us know yeah yeah he would he said my family my family values public promotion endorsements above all else brand Beckham comes first family love quote-unquote love is in quotes is decided by how much you post on social media or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo op, even if it's at the expense of our professional obligations.
41And, yeah, like, I get what he's saying, but it's like, what? Yeah, dot, dot, dot, okay? What do you mean he was her makeup artist? Yeah, like, what do you mean? I also can't help but think about Harry, Prince Harry, and all this. why is it always the men that are airing out the dirty you never see a woman out here this is a blanket statement you guys are going to come at me with receipts saying what about this person what about okay just you guys know what i mean i'm just talking about like high-powered families and the men airing out the dirty laundry what's what's up with that number two i think the reason i'm a little bit more siding with the with victoria and david and less on brooklyn side is Because family matters, I feel like, need to be kept private.
24And when your family, when your father and your mother are David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, you know what this is going to cause. You know that there's really no turning back from this, especially the allegation about the dance. That was scathing. That was embarrassing for Victoria. That's basically accusing Victoria of, like, I don't want to say assaulting, but, like, he basically said she was dancing on me, her son, inappropriately. Like, that is bad. That is a scathing remark to make. And you can't forget, he has siblings, okay? Yeah. Siblings that seemingly seem very close to their parents still.
00Yeah. So not only are you disowning your family, you're also disowning your siblings and putting your siblings in an incredibly, incredibly difficult position. Yeah. Because now, every time your siblings have to walk out the door, they're going to be questioned. They're going to be put in a rock between a hard place because what if one of the siblings are still very close with Brooklyn? So now they have to choose between their parents and their brother. I don't like this at all. Keep the family matters private. We get that it's all in the news. It's all the headlines. We get it, but there could be probably a less intense way to go about this.
30This is why I don't, I don't love that Brooklyn did this. I was like, dude, like you're putting your, I just, I felt so badly for the siblings, but I will say the in-law dynamics, like not that I have in-laws, but from what I've seen and from what I've experienced and what my friends have experienced, they can be incredibly difficult. And I think when you take two families that are incredibly, incredibly powerful, wealthy, the egos. Power struggle. I don't even want to know. Exactly. I don't even want to know what that's like. Like, I don't want to diminish that either from Brooklyn. So I think definitely he's put in a hard place.
03And I believe everything he's saying, I mean, to an extent. But at the same time, come on. Like, why do you have to do this and air out your family shit to a place that's not returnable? Like, you can't go back. Right. Yeah. Horror Harper 7. I feel like Harper just minds her own business. She's the youngest sister. There's Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper, and it's the four of them. Am I missing a Beckham sibling? I only knew about Romeo, but okay, yeah. Yeah, there's another boy too. Yeah. So. I knew there were several. I just didn't know their names, yeah. Let me fact check myself. It's definitely four Beckham children.
47Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and then Harper is the daughter. Gotcha. So my other question is, like, what was his? I totally agree that, like, they are in the public eye as it is. This is something that probably could have been handled privately. The fact that you are airing this out, there's no going back. Like, this is a line in the sand. Like, our relationships are going to be forever changed after this. And that is something that Brooklyn was clearly okay with. I wonder, just like with Amanda Batula, what was his breaking point? Yeah. Something between the blocking, something triggered the blocking a couple weeks ago when Romeo confirmed it on IG or Instagram.
30Something really severe had to have happened for that blocking to happen. What that is, we may never know. But I, too, am very curious. and obviously there's a there's been a lot of discussion since brooklyn and nikola their nuptials and their wedding that there were issues in the wedding and i never knew what to believe because you always hear like you know wedding brings out the worst in people funerals bring out the worst in people like it's a very stressful time for many of them yeah um for many apart many families but i clearly the wedding dress allegation to it made me wonder like okay brooklyn made that allegation that nicola's wedding dress was sorry victoria basically said you can't wear my my dress anymore at the 11th hour yeah victoria that victoria was designing nicola's dress and then at the last minute was like never mind and so that that left nicola scrambling even though apparently when vogue reported on their wedding they discussed there being a year-long process with valentino designing nicola's dress so like i'm not sure what to leave there.
34Yeah. Which one is that? Oh, that's an interesting tidbit. Yeah. Then your story is not, it's not lining up with past articles. That's really interesting. Yeah. And then it makes me wonder, well, what event happened to make Victoria so furious that she had to like take out the wedding, like basically withdraw her wedding dress design? Right. That makes me wonder. People don't just do that. Again, I'm not saying Victoria and David are walking the park. Okay. I completely understand they're probably terrorists to work with but yeah um and to be around but i don't think she would withdraw her wedding dress for nothing so i'm curious the you know the reasoning behind that i also had to really figure out like why is nicola's family so wealthy so her father nelson is a huge in the food and beverage industry he's overseen and been executive chairmen for many a company wendy's cisco madison square garden company he was a former director of Heinz, Mondelez International, Ingersoll Rand, and the former CEO of Triangle Industries.
34These are huge, huge companies. And even if you haven't heard of Mondelez and Ingersoll Rand, they're huge. Conglomerate. Like, this is like the American, this is like, what's the word? Like a Rockefeller type family. Yeah. So. Literally billionaires. Yes. And again, Nikola being an heiress to a billionaire. He also was a hedge fund manager, I think, which was part of it too. Yes. And he kind of when I did a quick Wikipedia search of him, he kind of started from nothing. Like he really is like really scrappy, I think. Yeah. I think he came from a family of immigrants, I want to say. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
08Yeah. So, but you have to imagine, you know, Nicola, Nicola's family, the Peltzes have a net worth reportedly of 1.6 billion and which is much larger, of course, than the Beckhams alleged net worth of 500 million. Obviously, I would love both, but Nicola Peltz comes from a very different pedigree I think than the Beckhams and you have to understand an heiress coming from this type of family can you imagine how entitled she is when and like it's not just the nanny throwing her allegedly throwing her nanny down the stairs there's been many a nanny story of her treating her help her butlers her nannies like absolute trash and I completely believe all of them can you imagine this little girl from day one basically you're the boss of the butler this five-year-old is your boss can you imagine the complex that you would create if that was your life god i i would be the nicest i would be so gracious to my butlers nannies whatever it is if i grew up with with that kind of uh silver spoon in my mouth i would be so nice so gracious and apparently she was the opposite so that just tells you what kind of person she is.
21Yeah. I also think it's really it's a really good point when we I feel like talking about the kind of complex that some Nepo babies can have. I think that Brooklyn, there is a world where he is bitter towards his parents because he is not really amounted to much. And he's also like. This sounds so like I don't know how to phrase this in a way that doesn't sound mean because he is an objectively conventionally handsome guy yeah his parents are david beckham and victoria beckham i mean name a hotter couple genuinely name name a hotter hotter couple like they're sculpted just the the cheekbones the feature like they're so supermodel stunning and then you kind of have brooklyn who's like good looking kid beautiful beautiful beautiful kid but is he a model, you know, like his parents.
17Yeah. Yeah, exactly. So I think that there is a world where he resents his parents for being. And I think that's kind of like the curse of the Nepo baby that we don't talk about enough is how much it would kind of suck to live in the shadow of someone else's dream. Like and I know this is an extreme example, but it's kind of top of mind because it sort of recently happened is is the Rob Reiner and Nick Reiner where. Yes, it was reported that nick reiner was apparently we we all know he tragically murdered his parents uh and he felt like he just could not measure up to his successful father and that made him feel really resentful and i'm not saying that obviously brooklyn is homicidal towards his parents but i think that like that resentment that a lot of nepo babies probably feel is is real that's a great um point to make and god my head just went somewhere really dark of i won't even go there but yes Yes, what you were saying is completely, completely true.
17And I think I was actually thinking about Brooklyn Beckham versus someone like Hailey Bieber. I get Brooklyn Beckham's family is far more famous than Hailey Bieber's family. The bald ones, yeah. The bald ones, yeah. But I think you take someone like Hailey Bieber, who was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, albeit not as silvery and shiny as Brooklyn's, but still silver spoon. Who's been able to build this empire that is Rhode. And I was thinking, like, I go back to what I was just saying about earning an ambition and getting to that, like, final destination that is selling your company for a billion bucks to Elf Beauty, right?
55I think Hailey Bieber, I'd imagine, has a lot more of a sense of purpose because she was able to not, she was able to, like, earn her own name. She's not just, like, Hailey Bieber, the son of, the daughter of Stephen Baldwin, Justin Bieber's wife. She is Hailey fucking Bieber because she's been able to earn her keep and build her own brand from the ground up. And that took time. That really took time. And obviously you could argue that her marrying Justin Bieber took her to a different level. Her being best friends with Kendall Jenner, whatever it is. Yeah. But like it took time. She was like.
26She played the long game. She played the long game. She was not. Even though people knew who she was, like 2016, the 2016 trend, people knew who she was. She was not an it girl yet at all. If anything, people were like, who is this? She's short. why is she on the runway what's with her bad bleached hair and why is she trying to steal Justin from Selena like she has never had a good edit yeah and the narrative has now changed in the last couple of years but Hailey Bieber has really I think earned what she has and she's worked really hard for it I think she has a lot of really great help as well but you can't deny like she seems to be a very hard worker and I think that that's kind of the difference where you have someone who has tried to like build her build themselves up despite their name whereas brooklyn almost like resents his name and that's what he said my parents are making me sign the rights to my name away because you have to think about it the name brooklyn beckham it's all about money at the end of the day brooklyn beckham the name if he wants to come out with brooklyn beckham perfume i mean cologne or perfume he cannot because that name has is trademarked and victoria and david david should do that i mean And that's their name is everything is in a name.
35Everything is in the reputation. Yeah. They don't want Brooklyn making a cent off of them because they're like, look how you're treating us. We don't want you to earn any money off of your name that we gave you. And now you're resenting and publicly like calling us out. How dare you? You're not going to make any money off of us off of your name anymore, which I like completely agree with. Sorry if that makes me mean. I know that people are going to probably hate me for this take, but I just like don't like this move by Brooklyn. But you could argue, like, it is Brooklyn's name. Like, yes, his parents gave it to him.
05But, like, Brooklyn, in his mind, is like, this is my name, though. Right? So it's like, yeah, like, I see both sides of it. Again, like, I feel like this is a case of everyone sucks here. Like, everyone here is an egomaniac. Ego-wealthy. And that's the problem. Just like you said, I feel like there's a huge power struggle. Yes. Because you have this, like, would Brooklyn be having, would the Beckhams be having the same drama with a girl from, like, a Hodunk family in Kentucky? Yeah. Nothing wrong with Kentucky. I'm basically from there. But, like, that's what I mean. Like, I'd just be like, yes, Beckhams.
43Yeah, whatever you need. Yes, whatever you need for me. Yes, totally. But, like, Nicola, that's not Nicola. So I think there is an inherent power struggle there. Yeah, me too. I don't envy the position that either of the families are in right now. I imagine it's incredibly stressful for both of them. And at the end of the day, like, I just want them to be, like, better. I want the family to stay together. And unfortunately, I don't know if that's achievable anymore after what has been said. But I do hope that Brooklyn is able to mend some kind of relationship. I feel the same way about Hillary.
17Like, it makes me so sad. I know that he's the royal family and, like, there's a darkness to that family. But it's like, make it work. Like, just please try and make it work with your family. Because family is family. Yeah. I think it shows, yeah, like, you're right. You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. I think with both Harry and Brooklyn, it's like once those things have been made public, there is absolutely no going back. Like, it was a choice that he clearly thought a lot about. Like, I don't think that he made that decision lightly. I mean, he literally didn't. Those five freaking Instagram stories were really long.
48Like, that took some time to probably write and run by people.
54But family, it just shows you also, like, money does not— No. Money causes problems, actually. 100%. Like, the more money, more problems, as they say. Yeah. Yeah. Like, it's just—I don't know. It's kind of sad. It is. Honestly, because, you know, it's family. Yeah. It makes me sad. It genuinely made me sad to see these stories. So we want the best, you know? They're crazy, but we want the best. Wishing the best for those crazy kids. Wishing the best for the Beckhams, for Kaimanda. What a freaking day it was yesterday, you guys. Look at Baxter is exhausted. Look at all this news. I know Baxter in the background.
38We're not on video right now, or we're not posting this video because we just wanted to get this up. But Baxter is, he is shook. Baxter is like, oh, my God, can you believe it? Can you believe the news? Did you hear? Did you hear? Where's that from again? I don't know. I don't know. I'm blinking, too. You guys, thank you so much, so much for being here. We are so glad we were able to get this out ahead of, you know, you guys' work day. Hopefully you can enjoy this right after you listen to D.E.T. You guys know where to find us. 54:17Sophie took us through the funniest. I mean, God, no, not the funniest. The scariest, spookiest story. It's a dark one. It's a true crime adjacent story that is also, I mean, it is true crime, but it's also adjacent to the rowdy TV world. We did a deep dive into the Megan Monson Millionaire Murder. And that is on our Patreon tomorrow, Jan 21st. So we'll see you over there. And if not, if you're not a patron, we will see you on Thursday. Yeah. Male YouTuber who's incredibly problematic. So we'll see you then, guys. Thank you so much. Bye. Bye. Is there any better feeling in the entire world than getting into a clean bed after an amazing relaxing night shower and turning on old roni?
03No. And as I've gotten older, I realize luxury bedding is something you truly don't appreciate until you sleep in it. But like, who has the money to splurge on bedding in this economy?
