Key claims
Addison Rae (born Oct 6, 2000, Lafayette, Louisiana) parlayed pandemic-era TikTok fame into mainstream music (including a Coachella performance and a Charlie XCX collaboration). She’s framed as “the opposite of a nepo baby” (family lived in an RV; financial stress; she left LSU after a few months). Her mainstream pivot is linked to early Kardashian alignment (Kourtney Kardashian). Her parents’ behavior allegedly drove her to retreat from fame.

1:08Rules and restrictions apply. Hi, everybody. Welcome back, Snarkbait. I'm Sophie. I'm Christy. Hello, hello. How are you doing? How am I doing? I'm doing pretty well. I am excited to go over this person today because I feel like we're, you know, two weeks out from Coachella. Yes. I guess stagecoach already happened, but festival season is underway. Lollapalooza is coming up. And I feel like when people talk about Coachella, they talk about Bieber. But I feel like a hidden gem, not even hidden, just a gem of the weekend. What is Addison Rae? And Olivia, our researcher, she was actually at Coachella Weekend One.
1:44And she said that Addison Rae was one of her favorite performances that weekend. She said Addison was amazing. I really felt like it was a star turn for Addison Rae. And I feel like she is such an interesting case of an influencer. She started out as a TikToker doing dances during the pandemic, right? And we'll go over her entire career and her journey. But she has transcended into mainstream fame and into a mainstream singing career and has kind of become a gay icon. Yeah. And I just think her pivot is so interesting. And she came up at the same time as the D 'Amelios. At one point, you know, Charlie D 'Amelio is still more followed than her on TikTok.
2:28And you don't really hear about the D 'Amelios as much. I think that she has really done such a good job at parlaying her TikTok fame into something real. Yeah, I was thinking about her career just last night, knowing that we were going to do this episode. And Sophie's leading this one this week. But I remember thinking in 2020 to like 2022, she was the girl of TikTok, like you said, with the D 'Amelios, with the Hype House guys. But she did kind of take a bit of a break. She was a bit on a hiatus. I feel like she needed to be shielded from the fame because there was some bad press with her parents.
3:02Her parents are seemingly very thirsty. Her dad is a little bit nuts. Her mom was dating. I forgot what his name was. Young Gravy. Yes, Young Gravy. And she kind of took a bit of a break. But I feel like she came back when all of us, we still remember her. But there was enough of a distance in our brain where we could welcome her back with open arms. So I've always really enjoyed her. I think her music is campy and grungy and poppy. And it's everything that I like in music. And I just think she's a cool, fun gal. So I'm really excited for you to take us through this. Yeah, she came back when we needed her most, you know.
3:36But yeah, I mean, she is, I would say, a pretty, you know, stalwart pop girl right now. Like she is, you know, she had a collab with Charlie XCX. She, like you said, was at Coachella performing. And she just, I'm really proud of her, actually. And what's interesting also about her background is that she is the opposite of a Nepo baby. As in, she really, like her family at one point lived in an RV. Oh, wow. She grew up, you know, under financial stress. Her family was not wealthy at all. And to see how far she's come, it's actually pretty inspiring. Yeah. And yeah, I agree that I think that her music is really fun.
4:20And her aesthetic, her entire look is very, like you said, you said the word kind of grungy. There's something very like whitey, like even like millennial corporate core. Like, her look is so interesting, and I feel like it's very intentional, and it's very strategic how she presents herself. And she's campy, and yeah, I'm just, I am an Addison fan at this point in my life. I just think that she has, and I did not used to be, I just think that she has come so far and has parlayed her career in a really interesting way, like I said. So let's get into it. Yeah. So she was born October 6, 2000 in Lafayette, Louisiana, as Addison Rae Easterling.
5:03So she's 25. Her parents are Monty Lopez, a real estate general manager of Mexican slash Cajun French descent, and Sherry Nicole Easterling. Her parents weren't married when she was born, so she took her mom's last name. They wed around 2004, divorced, then remarried in 2017. So very much a tumultuous relationship. So she was raised under a single mom from ages three through six. And like I said, they lived in an RV at one point due to financial struggles. She started competitive dancing at six, doing ballet, jazz, contemporary, competed across the country. She was on the cheer squad in high school and then went to LSU in 2019 to study sports broadcasting, but quickly dropped out after she got famous.
5:49So she was there for not even a semester. She dropped out after a few months in November 2019, and that is around the time that she blew up on TikTok. So she also has two full brothers, Enzo Eli Lopez, who's actually an actor born in 2007, and Lucas Lopez, born in 2013. And she has an older half-sister, Macy Neumeier, from Monty's earlier relationship. So let's talk about her TikTok come up. Do you, were you on TikTok in 2019, Christy? Oh my God, no. No, I think I didn't download TikTok until, I want to say a couple of months into the pandemic, but I just knew it as a dancing app, like we all did.
6:26And it was for younger people. So, but I remember she being one of the biggest people on TikTok and me just feeling like she was fun to watch and she was friends with everyone in the industry that was her age. And now that you're saying her name, being born in 2000, And I'm like, okay, so she was like probably 19-ish. Yeah, she was a teenager. Yeah. Yeah, when she really blew up and she had a lot of followers. And I always just found her to be super mature. There's this one girl I know who works in the industry and she's met Addison Rae. And I remember when she texted me, she goes, I just met Addison.
7:02And for some reason, I thought she was going to be very mature just because of, I don't know, I just had this conception of her. But I'm forgetting how young she really is. Like, she's like a baby and she presents as such. Like, you can tell she's really immature. But I don't know why I didn't have that perception of her in my brain before meeting her. Yeah. So she, I was not on TikTok in 2019. I was like a late adopter, I think, to TikTok. Like, I didn't doubt. I like was kind of anti until maybe late 2020. So the fact that people were becoming TikTok famous in 2019 is so crazy to me because I literally didn't even realize it existed until the pandemic.
7:37But she joined in July 2019 as a joke, she said, and she hit one million followers by October of that year. Oh, my God. In 2019. Wow, that's crazy. Yeah. And that was right before she dropped out of LSU. And it actually TikTok was Musical.ly. It was called Musical.ly before it was TikTok. And the rebrand is when it, you know, really like blew up. So it did like exist before the pandemic. But yeah, the TikTok rebrand, I don't know. I just felt like it wasn't a part of my world at all until 2020. And I feel like a lot of people will probably relate to that. It's just crazy to me. I'm like, huh, if I had just downloaded that app in 2019, I would not have to be working right now.
8:20No, I know. I know. It's like my biggest regret. Yeah. So right after dropping out of LSU in November of that year, she joined the Hype House in December 2019, which we will get to. She signed with WME Talent Agency in January 2020 alongside her parents. Like you said, her parents are very interesting, very thirsty. By August of 2020, she was Forbes' highest earning TikToker at$5 million a year, beating Charli D 'Amelio by a million despite having 23 million fewer followers than Charli. And again, like Charli has her beat in the follower count to this day. But relevance and career wise, Addison is like just in a different league.
9:06And I know also that Charlie and her family, I think, have had a falling out. And I also saw Charlie as she was a backup dancer in Broadway, in the Broadway show and Juliet, which I saw last summer. And she was great. And I think that she is focused more on like less of being a celebrity and more on just making art and performing. So I think it might be an intentional choice on Charlie's part to kind of, you know, retreat from the limelight a little bit, even though she's still like posting on social media and stuff. But it seems like she completely fell out with her family, Dixie, her sister, her parents, because they were so fucking thirsty.
9:43yeah i um i was gonna say i think that at the time i knew who the d 'amelios were obviously but i remember feeling like they were more for the younger generation and i don't know if that was just my incorrect perception but feeling like addison ray although she was young like the same basically the same age as d 'amelios plus or minus a couple years i feel like addison ray so kind of transcended like a more older crowd and maybe the reason for this is because of her alignment with Kourtney Kardashian in like 2020, 2021. And I feel like millennials, we very much identify with the Kardashians because they've been on our TVs for so long.
10:15So maybe that's why. Yeah. And we'll get to that. I think that her aligning with the Kardashians early on in her career maybe was when she became officially mainstream in a way. Yes. Even though at the time we were like, what's going on? It's a very bizarre relationship. 40 something year old Courtney, 19-year-old Addison. Very weird. But it worked. And getting them both, you know, a different amount of relevancy with different generations. Right. Okay. As of April 2026, she has around 88 million TikTok followers. She is the fifth most followed on the app. The only people with more followers are Caban Lame, Charlie D 'Amelio, Bella Porch, and Mr.
10:56Beast. So again, Charlie still has more followers, but Addison has the the clout. So let's talk about Monty Lopez. There's a lot of drama with her gross dad. And I feel like this also was something that kind of became mainstream celebrity gossip news when he started acting up. So he became sort of an influencer in his own right, wrote his daughter's coattails. This is like so interesting when parents do that. And the D 'Amelio's parents were the same way. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, the D 'Amelio's had a damn show on Hulu. They had a fucking show. And they also, I think, were trying to do too much at once.
11:31And I think they were really overworking their daughters and Charlie started to resent them. And they just did it all wrong. They really diluted her brand. They were like, here's a popcorn brand. Here's a shoe brand. Here's merch. It was like just way too much. It was very unfocused. God, these frickin' like TikToker parents. Yeah, it's just, it's like stage parents to like, when you democratize fame like that, when everyone in 2020. Yeah. Yeah, I just feel like with parents, it's one thing to put your kids on like Nickelodeon or on Disney Channel. It's another thing to like when you democratize fame and your child becomes an overnight success, basically.
12:07You like have this feeling in you as an adult, like, wait, but I want to be famous. Let me just latch on to my child, 19 year old's coattails. It's not normal and very bizarre. Exactly. So Monty ended up getting around 5.4 million followers on TikTok, signed with WME also, co-founded an influencer agency in 2022 called Bam Social. And yeah, he is just he loves the clout. He loves the fame. He loves the attention. In spring slash summer 2022, Lopez, who was 46 at the time, allegedly began a five-month affair with Renee Ashe, a 25-year-old influencer. And, uh, yeah, they had a very tumultuous relationship.
12:49She claims that the final straw in their relationship came after several girls accused Lopez of hitting on them. One video, since deleted doing the rounds online, shows a young woman telling her friend Addison Rae's dad is trying to fuck me right now, swear to God, before showing clips of them talking in a bar. And this all went very viral. And footage of Monty's hands on her ass. I remember this. Another was a FaceTime screenshot captioned, POV, Addison Rae's dad FaceTimes you late night. So just a gross, creepy guy. And Ash had over 150 shots of their WhatsApp messages. And she claims they had been dating since March and met his mom.
13:27They vacationed in the south of France together. They planned to have children. She said, we were going to be together and have babies together. The second his divorce is finalized, we're going to be at the altar. We're going to have babies. And if they're boys, it's his name. And if they're girls, it's my name. So he was literally married to Addison Rae's. Wait, sorry. Are Addison Rae's parents married at this point? I know that they weren't married when they had her. This is when they kind of separated again. Got it. Because Sherry posted a statement when this became public. It seems like he was cheating on her.
13:57They were together this time. Sherry posts a statement citing fragile hearts and minds and updates her Instagram bio to a single mom. Dude, they're so thirsty. They are so thirsty. It's like the dad sucks, but also the mom playing into it and updating her bio to single mom. Thirsty, thirsty, thirsty. The drama. And imagine like this being your parents. It's embarrassing. I genuinely feel like, I know we talked about this at the top. She was so embarrassed by her family. That's why she retreated. Yeah. I would be too. Addison. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. This drama happened. I think that it definitely changed her relationship with fame for sure.
14:30And he had allegedly misled Renee Ash on the status of his marriage and convinced her he was getting a divorce. So again, him and Sherry were still together at this time and he was being dishonest. And along with, okay, in light of the TikTok videos, Ash shared screenshots of text messages to page six. And these were 150 pages of WhatsApp messages between herself and Monty. Along with referring to them as a power couple, him and Renee Ash, he revealed that he and Sherry had a weird relationship and promised a future with Ash. And apparently they came close to calling it quits over a pregnancy scare.
15:07With Ash feeling like she had no support from Lopez during this difficult time. An almost 50-year-old man, mind you. Yeah, with a 14-year-old and an 8-year-old at home. Yeah, having a pregnancy scare with a girl in her 20s. With a 25, yeah. Yeah. Almost pushing 50, by the way. Oh, my God. Sherry, for her part, starts going out with Young Gravy. Young Gravy is a rapper named, actually, Matthew Raymond Hari. I think I'm pronouncing that right. She, at the time, was 42, and he was 26. And they first became linked after he went on the BFFs podcast with Dave Portnoy, Josh Richards, and Brianna Chicken Fry.
15:41and said he wanted to take her on a date. Brianna Chicken Fry, always at the scene of the crime. Same with Josh Richards and Dave Portnoy. Why are they always at the scene of the crime? No, it's... No, genuinely, when they have nothing to do with it. They have nothing to do with anything ever, but they're always inserting themselves somehow. You're right. The Westin, Amanda, and Alex versus Alex come to mind most notably and most recently. Yes, like they're always there. Right. No idea why. And just really quickly, at this 2022 VMA's little date, I remember this like it was yesterday. And everyone was like side-eyeing it and saying, wait a minute.
16:14First of all, I didn't know how large of an age discrepancy there was. Young Gravy, 26. Sherry, 42. I mean. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So he was 26. She was 42. And he apparently slid into her DMs and they went to, like you said, the 2022 MTV VMAs. They were making out on the red carpet. I remember. They were showing all this PDA. They were wearing matching purple outfits. And yeah, it seemed like they were feeling each other. But apparently it was short-lived. They wanted to get people talking. They both loved the attention, but they knew it wasn't really going anywhere. Meanwhile, Monty, Monty was not happy about this.
16:52He posted when they, after the VMAs, when they were like showing all of this PDA on the red carpet, he posted an Instagram captioned, Unbothered, thank you at Young Gravy for taking the leftover. What a way to refer to the mother of your children. This is so embarrassing. like i don't blame addison ray for going dark for a little bit this is so freaking embarrassing imagine this happening when you're not famous like imagine imagine this happening at your high school when you're in high school and everyone's talking about your family and the craziness that's going on online like that's embarrassing but to have this happen in front of the world when you're at the height of your career and you have 20 plus million followers on instagram or however many mortifying like yeah oh my god i i can't even i feel like addison at this point had to grow up because her parents were being children and she was like the one raking in all the money.
17:39Totally. And this also, I remember when this was happening, I think everyone felt a lot of sympathy for Addison. Like, first of all, this photo with the caption, he's, it's a shirtless mirror photo. Give me a break. No, I remember this like it was yesterday. Imagine this being your dad. My dad doesn't even know how to take a proper picture. Like, let alone how to take a mirror selfie. This is, I mean, I have to give it to him. He looks great for his age. Okay, Christy, no, we don't have to go that far. You do not, under any circumstances, have to hand it to Monty Lopez. I'm like, he doesn't look bad.
18:10You do not have to hand it to Addison Rae's father. Monty Lopez. And in the caption it says, Never let a woman make you choose between her and or your blood child! He has a little tattoo on his stomach, too. Not sure what that says, but that's him. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I don't even want to know what that says, honestly. Like Roman numerals or something. But yeah, very bizarre. Bizarre. And he also posted a reel of him like running from the cops. And the caption was like, when dating 20 year olds is cool when other people do it, but it's a problem when I do it. So basically poking at Sherry dating a 20 year old and like, it's OK when she does it.
18:48Oh, my God. Shut up. Shut up. Freak. He launched an OnlyFans in September of that year in 2022 with the bio, Unleash the Beast. Women love me and men want to be me. Wait, what is wrong? I know I hate him but everyone's wrong with him and he deleted it after 24 hours I I didn't know about this at first I thought it was the embarrassing Instagram stories and like him going out with like you know TikTok girls and stuff but not him starting in OnlyFans dude this is just like yeah they're trash I'm sorry again just imagine this being your dad horrifying oh Oh, my God. So Monty also got photographed kissing Ava Louise.
19:27And this was the TikToker. I don't know if this is ringing any bells for you. The TikToker who became famous for licking a toilet seat during COVID. And she joked about being Addison's stepmom. So again, just the embarrassment. I feel like this was just so mortifying for Addison, all of us. He challenged Young Gravy to a boxing match multiple times. Young Gravy ignored him. And And he also released a Young Gravy diss track called Side Dish in September of 2022. He's like a fucking mess. Oh, my God. He wants to be a sex broker on OnlyFans. He wants to be a musician. He wants to be an influencer.
20:07He's having his hand on everything he can at the height of his daughter saying, this is so embarrassing. I didn't realize it was this bad. It's bad. Just a thirst monster. It's so disgusting. Meanwhile, around this time, Addison posted about how she's been struggling. So like you said, it seems like she was really, you know, struggling with the bad press that her parents were causing her to have. It was so embarrassing because no one knows who Monty Lopez is on his own. She was all over the news. Addison Rae's dad. Addison Rae's dad. Like, that's so mortifying. So she posted, I've really been struggling to post and get out and do things, but I love you all and you mean so much more to me than I can ever express.
20:43My life has forever changed thanks to all the people who decided to care about me and support me. I love y 'all. Life is weird, but worth it. And she also unfollowed both parents. By the end of that year, like I said, Sherry and Young Gravy had broken up. It's been speculating the whole thing was a PR stunt. It's so embarrassing that your mom wants to pull a PR stunt at her big age. You know what I mean? It's like all this. It's like when one parent is royally screwing up, hopefully you can rely on the other parent. But it's like really sucks for Addison that both parents she could not rely on at this point in her life.
21:15when she's also struggling, I'm sure, with dealing with fame and a lot of money. And she can't even turn to her safe people. Like, this is so messed up. Yeah, it's so bad. In November of that year, Monty confirmed the divorce was finalized and he'd reconciled with Ash. But by March 2023, Ash had dumped him, again, calling their relationship emotionally abusive. Sherry reportedly married a Georgia high school football coach named Jess Curtis in April 2024. So great for Sherry. Hopefully a normal, sounds like a normal guy. Right. Monty reportedly married a woman named Caitlin Nicole Robbins in a Vegas ceremony in October 2025, according to some blog sites.
21:53Addison has since re-followed her mom, so it seems like she is on good terms with her mom, but not her dad. 25:03Okay, let's talk about the Hype House. What do you know about the Hype House, Christy? Every time I think about the Hype House, I think of Noah Beck, trigger warning, because Haley Beck is just all over both of our FYPs, I'd imagine. Yep, yep. That video of him and Josh Richards, I do it raw, da-na-na-na, and they're kind of like pumping each other. Do you know which video I'm talking about? No, but I'm thinking of a Josh Richards. It was Josh Richards and maybe Bryce Hall. Hall, yeah, who Addison and I did date. Yes, so it was like Josh Richards and Bryce Hall, and they were like, when you're both single for the summer, and they're like dapping each other up, and they're like, yeah, like flexing in front of the camera.
Read the full transcript
25:44it's funny because now bryce hall kind of trolls himself have you seen this on tiktok yeah because he was kind of like the it boy of the hype house like him and addison were kind of like this it couple yeah and now he just i mean he's just gotten older and he just doesn't look as as he did in 2020 but he's like i know everyone thinks i got ugly like whatever i'm rich in in living in vegas and like my mega mansions yeah now he's like a big trump trump supporter oh is he yeah Oh, I didn't know that. So, okay, The Hype House. Co-founded in December 2019. Again, early TikTok days. Like, these kids, I'm sorry.
26:21Say what you want about them. They knew what they're, they were smart. Yep. They were using their brain, for sure. They were using their brains. I can't say I'm not a little jealous. Yeah. No, they struck while the iron was really, really hot. Also, really quick, Chase Lil Huddy Hudson, who is he dating again? He's been in the press. Um, let me look, actually. Because he's a man about town recently. I think he was dating Charli D 'Amelio at one point. Lil Huddy. Yeah, he dated Charli D 'Amelio back in those Hype House days. But he was, no, he's dating someone else. It says his girlfriend is Kiera Hovland, a model.
26:59I don't know. I just saw that too, but, oh no, Ali Luber. That's who it is. Him and Ali Luber of Vanderpump Rules. Yeah, that's who it is. What is that? They were just spotted at Coachella together. and yeah i'm just i just type in uh chase hudson dating ali luber and chase little huddy are allegedly together on banner pump rules ready yes that's right thank you for grounding us with that fact yeah i was like why does his name sound familiar i don't even know who this man is to be honest little huddy i couldn't pick him up off the street honestly out of a lineup so yeah co-founded in december 2019 by thomas petreau and i'm sorry you guys if i'm pronouncing some of these names wrong i am not their target audience don't yell at me this is not our generation.
27:39Okay. Give us, give us this. Like we're not trying to not be knowledgeable, but I'm never going to live down Tana Mojo. Everyone's like, Tana, it's Tana. Like, how am I supposed to know? Okay. I'm not her target generation. We're also never going to live down the Lewis Hamilton of it all. Oh, how we said, um, Kim Kardashian is jealous of, um, Kylie and Kendall for dating Timothee Chalamet and Jacob Elori. And everyone was like, Lewis Hamilton is so much more famous and successful. And I acknowledge that, you know, I do not follow F1, but I know that he is like worldwide celebrity because of F1.
28:13So that's my bad. That was a learning lesson for me that Lewis Hamilton is apparently more famous and successful than Timothee Chalamet and Jacob Elordi. I'm just digging myself into a hole. Everyone's going to yell at me again. I'm sorry, I just don't follow F1. So I just don't understand the significance of F1 drivers, But I obviously know that he is like an international superstar. Right. I think in Sophie and I's world, because we consume pop culture, Jacob and Timothy in our world are more relevant. In the U.S. We're not disputing. Yeah. We're not disputing objectively. That could be argued.
28:44But in our world, Jacob and Timothy. In the world that we're living in, Timothy Chalamet is like a plus, plus, plus, plus list. Correct. Please don't come for us, you guys. I know. Everyone's going to yell at us again. Okay. I'm sorry in advance. I'm so sorry. Okay, anyway, so Thomas Petru, Chase Hudson, a.k.a. Lil Huddy, Daisy Keech, and Alex Warren. You know what Alex Warren is from? Something so out of the ordinary. Yeah, yeah. I was like, who is he? I was like, he's a musician. Yeah. Oh, he came out of the high-pods. See? Yes. Look at these high-pods guys. They're parlaying their fame into outside a ticket.
29:16Good for them. Absolutely good for them. So Addison was an early member of the group, but by summer 2020, it was kind of falling apart. Um, Charlie and Dixie D 'Amelio left in May 2020. They were in it at one point because it was becoming too much of a business. In June 2020, screenshots circulated of Addison liking a bunch of shady TikTok comments about Charlie. One said Charlie was not the prettiest girl on TikTok and that they didn't understand the hype about her. And, um, what else? Oh, yeah, Addison also liked a comment question why Charlie deserved to be verified and she didn't. Dixie D 'Amelio subtweeted the jealousy.
29:55Oh, my God. Charlie deserves better. Family first and that's that. Addison later admitted that she'd liked the comments, but it was well before she and Charlie ever met. So I guess they hadn't like overlapped in the hype house. She said, I just got out of an extremely toxic and mentally abusive relationship. And adding that her delicate emotional state was no excuse for her action. She said, I've loved and supported Charlie since the day I met her. I think Charlie deserves everything she's done. And I think she is referring to her relationship with Bryce Hall at this point. Because apparently that was a very tumultuous ship, which we will get to.
30:25They were fine after this. They posted TikToks together, etc. So she has not been associated with the Hype House in summer 2020. She wasn't in the Hype House docuseries that released on Netflix in 2021, which did not watch that. Did you? Yeah, no, I didn't. I'm sure I would love it. I actually was expecting you to say that. No, to be honest, I'm truly shocked I haven't. So on January 24th, 2023, the landlord announced he would be suing the Hype House for$300 ,000 due to unpaid rent and severe damage to the house. So the Hype House mansion sold in August 2024, making it officially over the end of an era RIP.
31:06I mean, these kids were making how much money and they couldn't pay their rent monthly. Ridiculous. They're also like children. No, they are. They probably didn't know how to do it. Yeah, they turned it into a frat house, I'm sure. Yeah, frat house sounds like a million with like all the money in the world. Yeah. So now for the Jimmy Fallon dance segment. Do you remember when this happened? No, but I'm reading your note. You have so much lore on Twitter. Like people are always reaching out to you and it's like always never fails to impress me. So on March 26, 2021, the day before my birthday, because I remember Jimmy Fallon.
31:37Okay, I'll get to this. March 26, 2021, Addison was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and performed eight viral TikTok dances without crediting any of the original choreographers. And I quote tweeted this Jimmy Fallon clip. And I said, this is like weird and embarrassing. I forgot exactly what I said. This is when Jimmy Fallon DM'd me on my birthday, actually, on March 27th, the next day. What? And he said, can you be nice to me or something like that? He privately DM'd, didn't even at mention it was a DM. Wait, what do you mean? Like, I don't know how it works on Twitter. Like when you do you privately DM someone so it's not visible to the other people.
32:13Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was a private DM. I can pull it up right now. That's so funny. I was talking about this, like when it happened and it was on trigger warning Ryan Bailey. I was talking about it. And wait, look, let me just show you. You know what I'm thinking of as you're pulling this up? Oh, he goes, look, I'm showing the camera. This is Jimmy Fallon. This is Jimmy Fallon. Oh my God. Go to our DM. We had a whole conversation. He started it out with hi, period. And I said, hi, Jimmy. What's up? Jimmy Fallon. Holy shit. He goes, could you not be mean to me? Ha. Sorry to officially say that, but hate spread.
32:49And I said, oh, my God, I wasn't trying to be mean to you. I was just making fun a little bit. Oh, my God. And we had like a whole conversation. Anyway, this was controversial. Not Jimmy DMing me, except that ended up being controversial where people were making fun of me for like what I said. I was like, Jimmy, like I was really excited and people made fun of me. I'm like, I want to see you be chill when Jimmy Fallon DM. I'm not even saying this like for like attention and clout. I just thought that was like such a funny thing that happened. Well, it's very relevant to this outline right now.
33:15We're talking about the instance where you made fun of him and he reached out. So you're not trying to clout chase. It's just facts. It's just facts. Sorry. Thank you. So of the eight dances that Addison did, at least four were created by Black creators. This includes Up by Maya Nicole Johnson and Chris Cotter, Savage by Kiera Wilson, Corvette Corvette by Dorian Scott, and Laffy Taffy by Furquan Powell and Camara Franklin. Glenn. Credits were quietly added to the YouTube upload after the online backlash, only after. And Addison kind of issued like a non-apology. She said, I think they were all credited in the original YouTube posting, but it's kind of hard to credit during the show.
33:52But they all know that I love them so much. And I mean, I support all of them so much. And hopefully one day we can all meet up and dance together. And she also said she and the show's team were discussing the incident behind the scenes and added, but it was so much fun. I had so much fun and I'm very grateful and thankful. It was a great time. Ever since the beginning, I've been talking to most of them and definitely want to collab with a lot of them, she told TMZ. Jimmy brought the OG creators on a Zoom on April 5th, 2021, but did not directly apologize. And Kira Wilson was notably left out.
34:21So that was a whole thing. Understandably, she got a lot of backlash for that. Yeah. So the UFC debacle in July 2021. This is when she got hired, quote unquote, and then fired from being a UFC, what's it called? Red carpet interviewer. Correspondent, yeah. Correspondent, correspondent. So photos went around of Addison interval at a UFC event. Despite not being employed by them as an official reporter, it was weird. It was like very unclear what her connection there was, but I think she was. She was hired by them in some capacity. She, you know, was doing some social media activations. She posted a photo with a branded mic caption.
35:06I studied broadcast journalism in college for three whole months to prepare for this moment. This got people pissed. This got people really, really, really pissed. Yes. I remember this specific tweet and it sparked outrage. Yeah. A lot of people said that this was disrespectful to those who have studied journalism for years and are yet unable to secure work in their field. As someone who has literally studied journalism, that's what my degree is in. It is obviously frustrating. We talked about this with Jake Shane and Paige DeSorbo. And I said at the time, you know, when we talked about the Jake Shane incident, because that was the most recent controversy with him at the Oscars after party.
35:42And, you know, it's just unfortunate nowadays that followers matter more than actual experience. yeah yeah it's it's how it's the reality of the world we live in yeah and i think that when like education and work experience has changed so much since you and i were in college like i was actually talking to some co-workers and they were saying how they have kids that are like middle school high school and they're like encouraging their kids with ai like i wouldn't even know if i would recommend you to go to college like do a trade become an electrician or whatever it is use your hands but i feel like back then when you and i were in school it's like everyone wanted to be Juliana Rancic or Maria Menounos.
36:22Oh, my God. That was my dream. Of course. To be Juliana Rancic. Right. And in 10 years or whatever, however long it's been, that has completely changed and pivoted. Like the way the world is just shifting so much. And it does suck because people that have worked tirelessly in this industry have like prepped for these moments. You have someone who's rubbing it in your face that I have three months of college experience to work this job. I can completely empathize with people being incredibly frustrated. Like my time, my money has been spent investing in this. And then you handed it to Addison, like that's messed up.
36:57And it's not even a fault to Addison, really. It's like a fault to the industry for allowing her to be in those rooms to begin with. Yes. And it happens again and again and again. Like I said, it's happened with Jake Shane. It's happened with Pastor Sorbo. And it's just, yeah, it's frustrating that influencers are now like you could go to school and study something for years and years and years and become the best at what you do. And it still won't be enough compared to the person with a million followers. Correct. And that's what they're being hired for. They're being hired because they're popular and they know how to create, you know, I guess a viral moment, whether it's good or bad.
37:32In Jake Shane's case, it was bad. Yeah. And you know, it's crazy. That's a good point. They're there to create viral moments, good or bad. It's viral and it gets people wanting to watch the next time. So it's like, and it's the same thing with call her daddy when everyone's like, why does everyone go and call her daddy? She's just like a horrible interviewer. But that's because she asks softball questions and publicity or PR teams and agencies want their client to go to Alex Cooper knowing full well that she will not ask the hard hitting questions. It's not really about the people's experience of like watching the interview.
38:01It's more about like what is going to garner the most attention for my clients. Totally. And yeah, it's fucked up. It's unfair. It is. It really is. And I remember we were talking about this. Like I said, we have talked about this so many times. And, you know, there are journalists, like we said, Juliana Rancic was, I mean, you know, it's been a while since she has been on any red carpet. But in her heyday, she was the entertainment journalist of the moment. She was so good at what she did. And, I mean, but then you have Joan Rivers. And this is the example that I used. I was like, Joan Rivers was never a journalist.
38:36She was a comedian. but she was so good at it. Yes. And so it's like there is room for non-journalists to be part of these conversations. Yeah. As long as they're good at it. Totally. Like Teffy. Like Teffy is one that is on red carpets over and over and over again. Nikki Glaser as well, comedian, not a trained journalist. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, you know, if you are good at it, then sure. It's just, I understand the frustration, obviously. And like I said, as a journalism major myself who dreamed of being Juliana Rancic. Right. I have unfortunately abandoned that dream because I don't have a million followers, which, you know, sucks, but that is the reality that we live in.
39:16So one user described the tweet as an obnoxious and tone-deaf slap in the face to the people who actually studied for it and are trying to make it in that profession. They went on to suggest that she showed some humility and humbleness when she announced it. The response may have been different. And I'm sorry, it's not like that serious. Like, I feel like people were like taking it extremely seriously. Yeah, again, you shouldn't be brutal. They were frustrated, but like, okay, calm down. Yeah. And yeah, other people were like, people who are mad at journalists and journalism students for being mad at this have no clue how competitive and difficult it is to make it on the air.
39:48No one has a problem with her doing the job, but the caption was distasteful. And yeah, the caption was like jokey and stupid. Right. She also got in trouble at this UFC fight for jumping up to introduce herself to Trump. This made an old tweet recirculate that she allegedly liked endorsing Trump. And she has since denied that she's a Trump supporter. She told the Los Angeles Times in 2021, I don't support Trump, and if someone does, that's their opinion, and I respect everyone's opinion for each their own. But it's very rare on occasion that you ever get to meet a former president, and I think most people could agree with me on that.
40:25It's very uncommon, and I consider myself a friendly person. And so introducing myself does not mean I stand behind anything that any respective person condones. And to that I say a dumb thing to say. I don't agree with that defense at all. She also is freaking 20. 20 years old when this happened. 21 maybe. Like she's a child. Right. Like she doesn't, like let's not expect her to be some, you know, I don't know, diplomatic genius. She does not know what she's talking about or know what she's doing. I'm sorry. She's a child. Right. And I think, to your point, I don't agree with this either. But I think it's more of like, let's just cut a little bit of slack.
41:04Like, yeah, she's a child. And like, she's probably nervous. Like, I don't know. She probably was in this atmosphere where everyone's maybe like fawning over fucking Trump. And she just got up and introduced herself. Like, I don't think it's that deep. But I agree. I don't necessarily agree with the sentiment. I don't know if I would do that. But at the same time, okay, it's not that deep. And the good news is, before anyone gets mad at Addison, the good news is she endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. Yeah. And she's older. She's wiser, has more years on her, you know. Yeah. She made better decisions later on.
41:33Yeah, exactly. And when the TikTok ban was lifted in January 2025, she was asked by Vogue if she would like to thank Trump for the lift. She said no, because he was the one who originally created the problem. He was the cause of the blockage. I remember the first time I heard about a possible ban on the app was around 2020. I was worried. Of course, I'm glad that TikToks arrived. And she also said in the same interview that she is scared of Trump's rise to power. She said things are changing at a crazy speed. It's unbelievable how quickly someone can abuse newly acquired power, becoming disconnected from others and from their country's values.
42:03And it feels like certain freedoms are being slowly taken away from them, which is very scary. She also dated vocal Trump supporter Bryce Hall on and off from 2019 to 2022. She alleged that he cheated on her during their relationship. There was a shit show and that he was very vocal about everything, presumably about politics. But she says, I believe there's good in everyone. So I like to think that there's a good part of him. We were really young. And so she, for the most part, doesn't have any sort of problematic digital footprint from when she was a child. Unlike most of these kids, like look at Alex Earl.
42:39We talked about Alex Earl. Yeah, there are so many, you know, just gross tweets and gross things that come out. For the most part, hers is pretty clear, except 2016, she reposted a Facebook video in which a woman states that BLM, Black Lives Matter, is a cult and that all lives matter. But in 2020, she tweeted in support of the BLM movement. In the third slide, she's talking about being safe at BLM protests. Also in 2020, she attended a BLM protest in L.A. Also in 2020, she apologizes for her past reposts. More of Addison's tweets supporting the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020. She also denies being a Republican that year.
43:18In 2024, she endorses Kamala Harris for president. In 2025, she posts about ICE, Port of Immigrants, and she has been very vocal about, you know, being anti-ICE. and so yeah i would say for the most part she does not seem politically conservative at all even though i think that there you know are rumors about her being conservative i it's very clear where she stands in my opinion right so let's talk about her relationship slash friendship with kourtney kardashian and like we said i feel like this is when she started becoming a little bit more mainstream. So this was from 2020 to around 2022. She had this weird platonic friendship with Addison.
43:59Kourtney did. That was featured on Keeping Up With The Kardashians or Kardashians on Hulu, whichever one it was at the time. So they apparently met their Kourtney's son, Mason Disick, who is a huge fan of Addison's TikToks. And apparently David Dobrik facilitated the introduction also. Always at the scene of the crime. Yeah. Someone who is also always at the scene of the crime at the time courtney was 41 and addison was 19 makes no sense it makes no sense it really is bizarre i remember everyone just side-eyeing it and i remember at this time too courtney was like at the height of her career i think more than it's ever been because she was friends with addison which was raising both of their star power travis started happening i remember like everyone was on courtney's ass in a good way yeah um also like her remember when her megan fox because Megan Fox was with Machine Gun Kelly and they did like a Skims campaign.
44:48Of course I remember that. Yeah. Yeah. So this friendship was like a little uncomfortable because of the age difference. And also they would do like bikini photo shoots, wearing matching pajamas, poolside content. This even led to a cameo that Kourtney had in He's All That, which was Addison Rae's first starring role, leading role in a movie. And how to keep it good with the Kardashians. So it was keeping up. In season 20 in 2021, Kim and Khloe ambushed Addison at lunch and asked on camera if Addison and Kourtney were hooking up. And Khloe said, we're not dissing Addison. We love Addison. We literally just want to know, does Addison do something where she pulls out like a better attitude in you?
45:25And obviously they denied that there was anything romantic happening between them. But there were also rumors that she was the third in Kourtney's relationship with Travis. And Addison was also notably not invited to their wedding in Portofino in May 2022. And they stopped doing content together. And Addison talked about their relationship in Rolling Stone in 2025 and said, she got married and has a baby now. I've lived a few lives. There's also like a theory that Courtney was very invested in Addison's socialite rebrand and that Addison was in some capacity being groomed to be a yacht girl. Okay.
46:00First of all, I had no idea that there were theories that she was a third in Courtney and Travis's relationship. We talked about Travis Barker's life. On the Patreon. On the Patreon. And I read his memoir, so you didn't have to. It was probably one of the juiciest episodes we've ever done. Because whatever you think you know about Travis Barker, you know nothing. Like he has lived, talk about someone who's lived nine lives. He has lived so many lives. He's gone through so much crazy shit. I mean, the plane crash is just, we're just scratching the surface, baby, when it comes to women, when it comes to partying, when it comes to like drugs, alcohol, like he's lived so many lives.
46:36And I think just from doing that episode and reading his memoir, he is a player. Like, he cannot help it. He cannot settle down with a single girl. He's never been faithful to anyone he's ever been with. It's like baked in his DNA, and he would admit that. So if before reading that memoir, I wouldn't have thought that he was capable of hooking up with Addison. But since reading that memoir, I can fully buy this theory. As dark as that is, because they're both so much older than Addison. Yeah. This is just a conspiracy theory, though. So who knows if there's any veracity to it. But very, very interesting.
47:09Also that she was being like apparently like groomed to be a yacht girl. And I'm so glad that she has not gone down that route. Yeah, she's just like anything wrong with if that's how you choose to live your life. But I feel like it just wasn't the route for her because she likes performing and she likes, you know, being on stage. And I'm happy that she is doing that instead of, you know, being on yachts with Nina Dobrev. Yeah. So let's talk about He's All That. Did you ever watch this movie? No, I didn't. Oh, my God. I loved it. I would probably love it. Yeah. So it's obviously a make of She's All That, the iconic, I'd say like 1999 rom-com.
47:48Let me look up when She's All That came out. Freddie Prinze Jr. She's All That movie. 1999, I was right. Yeah, Freddie Prinze Jr., Rita Lee Cook. Oh, my God, iconic. And so this was a remake with the roles reversed. Addison was the popular girl. You know, the male love interest was like the nerd. Obviously really bad. It was not like a good movie, but I enjoyed it. And it also wasn't her fault. Like, I don't think she was like that bad in it, but she got like flamed for her terrible acting. Also, Mark Waters, he directed Freaky Friday, too. Yeah, so he directed this reboot and the original screenwriter for She's All That, R.
48:25Lee Fleming Jr., wrote it. Love that. Yeah, I mean, I don't think it was supposed to be any kind of, Oscar-nominated movie. It's like a campy kind of YA film. But I love Matthew Lillard, by the way. Loved him in, I almost said, scary movie, Scream. Yeah. Yeah, he's the best. So The Guardian called it a dull TikTok teen remake that lacks charm. Washington Post said, not all that, not even a little bit of that. It got horrible reviews. The film also briefly closed a COVID-19 testing site in LA for filming in December 2020, which was reversed after a ton of backlash. So this movie was never gonna, you know, be super popular with critics.
49:05People were already mad at it while it was filming. And Addison was panned, her acting. Someone tweeted, she does the worst acting job I've seen in the longest time and she gets a Netflix deal. I'm sorry, but there are more deserving actresses out there and amazing shows that are getting canceled to make way for movies with her. So no, thank you. Someone else said, putting aside how awful he's all that was as a movie. Obviously, Netflix doesn't care about quality because her acting in that movie was beyond terrible. Who told her she could act or sing for that matter? People are so mean. Like, I mean, come on.
49:35And I think that like people were really mean about Addison Rae. And I think that A, it's because she's a woman. She was a young, pretty woman. Also B, that she was a TikToker. People just refused to take her seriously. And I think it's only been recently that people have come around, turned around on her and, you know, are finally kind of not even like taking her seriously because I feel like a lot of people stand her ironically. But I think that she's okay with that. And I think that she still does have fans. A lot of fans, actually. Yeah. I think that people don't like it. Okay. I'm thinking of when Alex Cooper was cast to be in Verity, Colleen Hoover's book adaptation.
50:20Colleen Hoover, first of all, can't catch a break like why does she continue to like make these horrible decisions first with like completely gladly of it all and then now you know with this but i don't think people like it when people are in one industry and then try to go into the next and people are just triggered by it and i think when you see like a pretty young woman in addison's rate addison ray's case moving into movies from tiktok people just get triggered by it i think there's definitely like misogyny misogyny kind of baked in there whether or not people want to admit it totally and again i watched that movie and Addison's acting was not what stood out to me as bad.
50:55It was more so the writing. But it's been a while since I watched it. So a couple weeks later, it was reported that she signed on for more projects with Netflix. And I was like, what happened with this? Like, I feel like she hasn't been in anything, but she was in Monster, the Ed Gaines story. Did you ever watch the Monster series, the Ryan Murphy? The first one was about Jeffrey Dahmer. Yeah, I watched the first episode of the Jeffrey Dahmer and shockingly enough, It was almost too grotesque for me. I couldn't continue. I couldn't watch. And I love, like, fucked up things. I love Ryan Murphy.
51:25But it was too much for even me. Yeah, I feel like if you and I get queasy, then it's not for the general population. But, yeah, so I did not watch Monster. Did you? No. Again, like, that's saying a lot. If Christy and I can't watch these shows, who was able to watch these? No, no, no. Literally, who is this for? Who's the audience? Because it's usually Sophie and I. Yeah. She was in—she played one of his victims. and Charlie Hunna played Ed Gein. And she also was in the movie Thanksgiving. I do know that. With Patrick Dempsey. I loved that movie. Did you watch it? No, I didn't. But I remember her being named as one of the cast.
51:58Oh, my God. So it was a horror movie, like a slasher film. And yeah, she was like the hot, like, teenager that gets murdered or whatever. Spoiler alert. And it's so funny. Like, Henry and I still reference this movie. Henry does not like scary movies, but I, like, somehow convinced him to watch this. And one of the victims, again, spoiler alert, gets baked in the oven because it's a Thanksgiving themed horror movie. And she gets marinated and then baked in the oven. You know what that reminds me of, Sophie? What? Final Destination when those two girls got baked in the tanning beds. In the tanning beds.
52:30Yeah. Ugh. Yeah. Yeah, we still reference that a lot. But anyway, she was in that. I remember thinking she was good. She's also set to be in the live action slash animated movie Animal Friends with Ryan Reynolds, Aubrey Plaza, Dan Levy, and Jason Momoa coming out next year. Some heavy hitters there. Yeah. And it's like live action and animated. And it's called Animal Friends. So I assume it's like humans that have like animated animal friends. I don't know. So we'll see. You tell yourself no one wants your college-era band tees. But on Depop, people are searching for exactly what you've got. You once paid a small fortune for them at merch stands.
53:06Now, a teenager who calls them vintage will offer that same small fortune back. Sell them easily on Depop. Just snap a few photos and we'll take care of the rest. Who knew your questionable music taste would be a money-making machine? Your style can make you cash. Start selling on Depop, where taste recognizes taste. Discover Forkful today at forkfulmeals.com. Let's talk about her music career. So her single, Obsessed, was released March 19th, 2021, And it peaked at number 10 on billboards bubbling under Hot 100, meaning it charted on the minor league chart beneath the Hot 100.
54:35And Vulture compared her whispering to Selena Gomez. I mean, yes, similar, similar focal range and vibe. Me and Benny? Me and Benny? It's so hard to do. Me and Benny? Me and Benny? I love to cook. And he treats me so well. And Selena's my girl, okay? But yeah, like we can't. We love Selena over here. We love her. I'll be remiss not to call out the voice change. And then her team will blame it on the lupus, you know, which I think there is validity to that, by the way. Like I talked to my sister about it. She's like, no, no, it does mess up your vocal cords. Totally. Yeah. Popdust ran a headline, Addison Rae's embarrassing new single, Obsessed, proved she should stick to lip syncing.
55:17Addison later told Vogue that the reception almost made her quit music. She said, I had a really fragile sense of self at that time. I was 19. It kind of crushed me. I'm so proud of her, honestly, for how far she's come. Yeah. I remember when she first started performing and when she was on, I know you're going to get to this, but when she was with To Die For with Charlie XCX and she performed alongside her at Coachella like a year or two ago. Yeah. And everyone was like, turn her mic off. What is this? And now she's like not headlining Coachella, but was pretty high up on that lineup poster. And people are loving it.
55:51Like she really has, like you wrote here, has come a long way. So in 2022. to nine demos from a shell debut album leaked, including I Got It Bad, It Could Have Been You, and nothing on. Allegedly, a Lady Gaga cast off, and gays on the internet started streaming them ironically only to realize they actually loved them, unironically. Yeah. And her reputation started to kind of change, and this is when she started to become, like I said, a gay icon. Someone tweeted, Addison Rae did the first TikTok at Stonewall. Someone else said, Harry Styles wishes she was as much of a gay icon as Addison Rae. And someone else tweeted, if I met Bob Dylan, I would tell him he has way less monthly listeners than Addison Rae.
56:32Her music is good. Like, we're not saying the vocals are anything to sneeze about, but like the music is a bomb. The artistry is there. The artistry is there. BuzzFeed ran an article saying it was always Addison Rae's destiny to become a gay icon and that there are two paths to become gay iconhood. Be a visible outsider. I feel like that's kind of like Lady Gaga. Or become so hated that standing you becomes cam. And I think that Addison Rae almost has the career that Madison Beer could have had if Madison Beer ever cared about looking ugly or being campy. But Madison Beer takes herself so seriously.
57:10Oh, my God, so seriously. And she cares about the male gaze way too much. I feel like with Addison Rae, she genuinely does not care about the male gaze. No, no. She cares about the gay guy gaze. Yes, 100%. The gay gaze. Yes. her career I would almost equate it similar she's bigger than Carly Rae Jepsen because Carly Rae Jepsen also has a huge gay following and if you want anyone's support you want the girls and the gays because we will buy we will support we will purchase merch like we will show up to the shows we are the demographic we're the consumer demographic and I feel like she um hit gold with um getting the gay community's um support but I think yeah she's kind of like what Carly Ray Jepsen was at a micro level, but like more macro.
57:53Yes. So Eve Ng, a professor of media studies at Ohio University, told BuzzFeed for this article, there's a history of this fandom, the affinity between gay men and female performers that has become a stereotype. I think it stems from the heteronormity of masculinity and the spectacular female performer is the opposite of that. It wasn't cool to be a fan of pop music. Gay men were ostracized. So there's a campiness to embracing it, which I think is really interesting and true. And I also think that there are so many parallels, not just the Louisiana of it all, but with Britney. Yes, you're right.
58:24The Louisiana, they kind of have similar upbringings where like Britney grew up dirt poor. Yeah. So did Addison. Yeah. And you can tell that Addison's aesthetic, like her cover album, looked so much like an early aughts Britney album. Yeah. Britney's junior album, Britney, self-titled, with her sitting on that sidewalk. It was like blue, kind of grainy. Yeah, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Yeah, you're right. I remember looking at that cover and being like, that is Britney's junior album. Yes. And even watching footage of her Coachella performance, her wardrobe and her choreography felt very Britney-esque.
59:00And I think that she is going, she's trying to emulate Britney, which there's nothing wrong with that. I know that like you're never going to be Britney, but you can emulate her a little bit. I don't see anything wrong with that. I think she's doing a good job at it, honestly. And we all take, we're all shaped by our predecessors. Like, there wouldn't be a Britney without Madonna. Like, we talked about this a couple weeks ago. So it's not anything to criticize. It's just like, it's just formula. Yeah, it is reality. And it's new fonts of the same kind of thing. Exactly. In August 2023, she released the A.R.E.P.
59:30featuring Charlie XCX on To Die For. And Charlie XCX featured her on the Von Dutch remix At the Peak of Brat Summer. People started to put respect on her name as a pop girly, finally. Charlie even called her a musical genius, which that is high praise coming from Charlie. In August 2024, she released Diet Pepsi via Columbia Records. Her first actual Hot 100 entry peaked at 54, spent 20 weeks on the chart. Pitchfork gave it Best New Track. The New York Times called it the oral embodiment of tasteful restraint. Ben Platt's cover at the 2025 Las Culturistas Culture Awards went viral and received its own Interscope release.
1:00:07This moment is what made me start to listen to Addison, says Olivia. I'm obsessed with this cover. Then I was obsessed with the song. Olivia, after seeing her at Coachella, became obsessed with Addison. She will talk about her performance at Coachella, but it was life-changing for Olivia. Yeah. I remember watching a clip from Jake Shane's podcast when he was interviewing Charlie XCX. And Charlie mentioned how much of a musician and professional Addison wants. I know you wouldn't know it, but she knows exactly what she wants. she'll show up to that recording studio, like having a purpose and an objective of what she wants to achieve that day.
1:00:41Like she really is, I think at the end of the day, a professional. And I think a lot of that stems from, like you mentioned at the top of the episode, her background in dance. Like you have to have grit and work super hard to like being competitive dancing for as long as she was at such a young age. Like you can't turn that off. And I think that was kind of baked into her really young and it applies to her music career today. Totally. She reportedly signed to Columbia after walking into CEO Ron Perry's office with a binder of images, colors, and mood boards and no actual music, but he signed her anyway.
1:01:08And this I completely believe. I feel like her aesthetic, like her style, the way she presents herself is so singular. And it's like a Y2K, 2000s Britney, campy, 2010s, millennial, normcore almost, like business casual. It's so good and it's so camp. And I feel like, again, this is kind of where Madison Beer has failed, in my opinion, that she has this very singular look and style, and it's so unique, and it's so her, and she does not care about the male gaze at all. And I think people love that about her because she easily could. She's a stunning, stunning girl. She's really pretty. And I think as millennials, we don't get bothered by the fact that she's quote-unquote appropriating our culture.
1:01:53Like, we like it, and we lean into it, and we want more of it. Like, it's more of, like, it's nostalgic. It's interesting. Yeah. It's interesting. And, And like a day and age where everyone fucking dresses the same and everyone acts the same and looks the same and does the same thing on social media and gets the same plastic surgery. The fact that Addison Rae has this very singular style and wears like Ugg boots and jean skirts like she's 2000s Britney is very refreshing. Like we love it. And lingerie on stage like that's so Britney giving more 2007. Yeah, exactly. So her debut album Addison released June 6, 2025, 12 tracks, 33 minutes, no features.
1:02:29And it was produced entirely by people from Max Martin's stable, the Swedish duo Elvira. I'm not going to pronounce this right. Ander Yord and Luca Closer. Written entirely by the three of them. So an all-female pop album from top to bottom. It got mixed reviews, but those who loved it and understood the pop references loved it. And she got a Grammy nom for Best New Artist at the 68th Grammy Awards. She also performed Fame as a Gun there. And she toured throughout 2025 with a modest production budget. But she was praised for her high-energy choreography and very, like, Britney-inspired performances, engaging with the crowd.
1:03:06She's a performer. She might not be, like, the strongest vocalist, but she's a performer. Yeah. And those that get it get it. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. No one is saying that Britney Spears had the vocal range of Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey in her heyday, but she was a performer. Right. And that's why everyone— She was, like, a 360 performer. Right. She was the best performer, her dance, and that's why we loved watching her. We didn't care that her vocals were kind of mid. It was like, no, we're here to watch her dance and freaking have that grit and stage press. And then she performed at Coachella to rave reviews.
1:03:36And again, Olivia was boots on the ground. And this was what she said about the Coachella performance. She said, I didn't get the whole Addison Rae thing until seeing her live. Once I saw her, everything clicked. I enjoyed that her aesthetic was slightly messy, less polished. Like we said, the anti-Madison beer, especially after watching the mega production, hyper precise. That was Sabrina Carpenter the night prior. And Sabrina Carpenter is one that has also a unique style and unique aesthetic, but it's very buttoned up. It's very perfect. And Addison is a little messier. It just seems so authentic, even though the persona is definitely performance.
1:04:12And between every song, she would smile so big and giggle. And I love that she didn't take herself too seriously and was genuinely servicing the audience. And I feel like other pop girlies, sorry, Sabrina, have an air of, oh, look at me, blah, blah, blah, that, like, separates them from their audience. But Addison really made sure that we were having as much fun as she was having and would call out when the audience wasn't vibing hard enough. It was this weird feeling of relatability. See, I think that, like, she is, like we said, just such a good performer. Everyone who sees her live is like, that was amazing.
1:04:41That was incredible. Yeah. And it seems like Olivia had this feeling of, like, you could see yourself in her because she is not so polished and put together. She leans into, like, the campiness and the grunginess and it not being super perfect. It's like there's a relatability factor there as well. Like, you know, it genuinely is very different and quite honestly refreshing because we have Taylor and Sabrina and Ariana and Selena that do take themselves really seriously. And then Addison is just she's the foil to all of that. Yes, exactly. And she's kind of like the quintessential American dream.
1:05:16Yeah. Like, obviously, she has the privilege of being a pretty white girl who was conventionally attractive, conventionally thin. But to go from, you know, growing up poor in Louisiana to dancing on TikTok kind of as a joke to getting nominated for a Grammy and performing at Coachella. Like the D 'Amelio sisters had these things. Honestly, the D 'Amelio sisters had more privilege than Addison because they grew up comfortably in Connecticut. Yeah. And where are they? No, I know. And I think that with Addison as well, you could tell it was slow and steady. It wasn't like she threw it together. and then, you know, she was on TikTok and the next day she was a musical artist performing at Coachella.
1:05:54They were very intentional, slow steps. And it was like a slow rise almost. Like we think of Addison Rae and we think of her fame as like recent, but you think about it, it's like she's been doing this for seven years and she's just now being respected. So I think she really played the long game in a way that we were able to, she gave us space when there was scandal and she's kind of back and like feeding us now more than ever. Totally. And I feel like she has grown on people so much. Like you said, it wasn't an overnight thing where people were like, we instantly love her. People made fun of her.
1:06:27Even when she first started her singing career, she was like, we almost gave up because people hated it so much and no one took her seriously. And now people appreciate her artistry, the way that she's a performer, her come up. Like, I respect her and I feel proud of her. Yeah, I do too. I really do. I do too. And I'm thinking of all these other internet celebrities, like, put their hand in music. Like, we talked about Tana. We talked about Bella Thorne. They're huge. Like, at some points, bigger than Addison was. And they tried to sing and it didn't work out. You know, like, this isn't just because she was TikTok famous, her career was able to transcend from there.
1:07:03It's like, no, no, no. In spite of that, she was able to still transcend. Exactly. And I just think I appreciate any anti-Nepo baby. Like the fact, like I said at the top of the episode, that she grew up in an RV at one point. I know. Like she has literally no Hollywood connections. And that is so, in this day and age, so rare to make it in Hollywood without connections. Oh my God. So yeah, I'm proud of her. Let's quickly touch on her relationships that have, for the most part, been very age appropriate, minus Courtney. So Bryce Hall, she dated, like we said, from October 2019 to 2021, 2022. It's unclear exactly when they broke up for good.
1:07:42But he was a founding member and key figure of the Sway House, another like hype house, you know, content creation house. And they had an on and off relationship over, you know, a couple years. And they would always like subtweet each other. like Bryce, they're literally children. That's why. Yeah. Like at one point they like broke up and Bryce was like, Addison and I are not dating. She's doing her own thing and I'm doing mine. We're still friends and plan to remain that way. I still love her and we're still going to hang and stuff, but we're just not going to be kissy kissy anymore. Like they're literally children.
1:08:21Yeah. Yeah. Oh my God. Um, they broke up after Bryce went on a Vegas trip and multiple women were rumored to have hooked up with him. And they, Addison has hinted at the fact it on her a lot, even though, you know, she apparently went back to him after he cheated on her. Again, she's a child. She said in a Rolling Stone interview in 2025 that she is very guarded when it comes to relationships because my first public relationship taught me a lot about myself. I think he cheated on me. He says he didn't. And now, like we said, Bryce has gone on to be very MAGA and go-to Trump-adjacent influencer events.
1:08:58Now he does boxing and shit. Just a very strange person. Yeah, he's weird. So her most recent relationship is with Omer Fetty, and they were dating for several years until mid-2025. And he is an Israeli guitarist slash producer, born in 2000, so the same age as Addison. And he co-wrote and co-produced four number one Billboard Hot 100 hit, Mood by 24K Golden, Montero by Lil Nas X, Stay by Kid Leroy and Justin Bieber, and Unholy by Sam Smith and Kim Petrus. I'm not pronouncing that right, am I? Kim Petrus. Kim Petrus. Yeah. All like banger. Oh, yeah. I love Stay and I love Unholy. Literally all bangers.
1:09:38And Montero. Anyway, he has little social media presence. He's more behind the scenes. There were recurring engagement rumors from ring sightings, but neither ever confirmed. But they officially broke up, apparently, in October of 2025, saying they'd actually separated months earlier so Addison could focus on her career and there's no bad blood, apparently. Extra little tidbits slash scandals. Addison has been accused of blackfishing from wearing dark spray tan and makeup. And that is something that I feel like all of these TikTok girlies at some point have been accused of. There also is a clip where she didn't know Korea was in Asia.
1:10:15and it's a clip where she is with some of these like hype house boys and they're talking about some asian model and she goes you don't know that she's asian she could be korean oh my god i'm looking at this it's like yeah that's that's really silly but again this was in 2020 so she was a child i will give her some grace with this uh she also got backlash for partying during covid as did every other celebrity in 2020 not to make excuses for her um so yeah She has had a few scandals here and there, but overall seems relatively unproblematic for the most part. Like I said, I feel proud of her. I feel like maternal over her.
1:10:57Like I want to take care of her and I want to make sure she's okay. I feel like she has had, like we said, with her parents, her upbringing, not the easiest life and not the easiest relationship with fame. And I think she's learning as she goes. And, you know, she got famous when she was a teenager. and had no like guidance because it's not like she came from like a family that was in show business. She came from nothing. So I feel proud of her. I consider myself an Addison fan now. Curious what you guys think though. And yeah, that's the tea on Addison Rae. You did a really good job. This was a really, really fun episode and I learned a lot.
