In short
The episode of Snarkbait focuses on Ali Manno (Allie Fedotowski), framed as a mostly harmless but “chronically online” Bachelor influencer who can seem out of touch and overshares. Hosts argue her “first world problems” vibe and disproportionate parenting/household responsibilities she discusses can make her an easy target, though they call the criticism unreasonable.
Key claims and notable examples
Ali left Jake Pavelka’s Bachelor season voluntarily because Facebook threatened to fire her unless she returned to work; later she became Bachelorette and chose Roberto Martinez. The hosts revisit iconic Bachelor moments, including staged-feeling producer phone calls about returning to Jake’s season and Ali’s confrontation of a contestant with a girlfriend back home (in Istanbul, on crutches). They also cite Ali’s later oversharing about her marriage after having kids (sleeping separately at times), jealousy about her husband’s work schedule, and backlash over calling herself a stay-at-home mom despite having a nanny. They connect her defense of Caitlin Bristow’s pre-Fantasy Suite sex to slut-shaming and double standards.

1:17Ali Manno:Hey, everybody. Welcome back to another episode of Snarkbait. I'm Christy. I'm Sophie. And today... Welcome back to the States. Oh, thank you. Yes, I... You know what? I don't know if you ever experienced this, but you're also five hours or excuse me, five hours behind. Yeah. The western part of Europe is not a huge time jump. Yeah. I always get really jet lagged when I go to Europe. But upon coming back, I always am just so tired. I pass out and then I feel like a daisy. so I'm not like oh great jet lagged nice but um I don't know what that's about or like why I don't know maybe it's because I'm used to the times I'm here but yes I'm back and better than ever and did you have the best time yeah it was really fun um it was so funny because I booked us all the dinner reservations and I think I use this too when you and I have traveled together and with the girls.
2:19Ali Manno:Like I use the Dumois app. And before you guys hate on me, it's actually for recommendations. Yeah. So she has a whole so funny. She has a whole curated list by neighborhood of where celebrities are spotted. And it's actually like really good. Like, oh, I want to go to Shoreditch in London. And she'll have a list of all the restaurants, the type of food and all the celebrities that have been spotted there. That's so funny. She'll have like curated lists by city. So there's one for New York, L.A., London. So I just went to like a couple. I like selected a couple restaurants where there were the most celebrities found because I was like naturally that makes sense yeah and every single restaurant we went to I'm not joking Sophie was on the same street in Soho like she's like and she's like where are we going today I'm like Soho like and I don't know it just like and you didn't see any celebrities no because they were all at New York Fashion Week in the US Open oh yeah yeah so it was such a fruitless endeavor But we were just cracking up the entire time because we're like, we're never leaving this neighborhood.
3:19Ali Manno:We weren't even staying in Soho. And she was like, you might as well have just stayed in Soho because we've been here every damn night. Well, it's so funny because you mentioned Dishoom on D.E.T. And so many people were like, oh, my God, Dishoom is the best. And now I'm like, I need to go to London now and eat at Dishoom and all of the good London restaurants. Yeah, we used, like I said, the dining app. So we didn't actually actually set like step foot in it. But it was. Did I just glitch out? I don't know. You guys maybe I am more jet lagged. But yeah, Dishoom is delicious. When people don't like Indian food, I'm like, grow up.
3:57Well, while you were eating the best food in London, I made a mistake yesterday and I got a donut from the subway station. I was starving. I was just I it was just one of those moments where I was really hungry. and it's Fulton. It's Fulton Street Station. So they have like a bunch of, they have like a Krispy Kreme. They have a bunch of different, like, they have like Shake Shack. I was like, I'm just going to grab like a Krispy Kreme. I love a jelly donut. Hot take. I feel like jelly donuts are very polarizing. I love jelly donuts. Wait, what the fuck? What?
4:31Ali Manno:A jelly, I don't know. It's just like, that you're right. It is polarizing. I can't even hate it because I don't think I've ever tried it. I love jelly donuts so much. They were completely out of belly donuts. So I was like, you know what? Let me do something really risky. I got, instead of just getting like a normal glazed donut, like the safe choice, I got New York cheesecake donut with like cheesecake filling. Let me tell you, it was delicious, but I was fighting for my life all night. And Henry was like, well, what did you expect getting a Subway cheesecake donut? Don't you hate that? When, like, I just wanted to enjoy myself and here I am fighting for my life for the next, like.
5:15Yes. Okay. And I deserved it. I deserved it. I fucked up. And I recognize that.
5:22Ali Manno:Absolutely. That's another thing that, obviously, this is not Dark Energy Tuesday. But another thing about just traveling is, like, not being able to be regular on a trip. Oh, yeah. You mean BMs. Exactly. And it's just. Yeah. Can someone tell me what your hack is? Yeah. I don't know like why that is. I know there's like a scientific reason your body is out of whack, you're out of your routine. But yeah, it sucks. It sucks. It's the definition of dark energy. So I'm hoping to be back on my bullshit, no pun intended, as I've returned home. But let's dive right into the topic at hand, unless there's anything particular you wish to speak on.
6:04Ali Manno:No. And this subject today, we have done a few people from Bachelor Nation, Caitlin Bristow, Nick Vile, our first ever episode. Who else? Greg Grippo. And I feel like Allie Mano is not necessarily like we were texting about that. She is not like the most problematic person or anything. she just is one of those og bachelor influencers that is kind of just fun to snark on because she says and does kind of silly things sometimes would you agree yeah i think that she's ultimately pretty harmless like there's a lot more influencers that we could snark on and like be mean about but when it comes to ali manno i think she's just a bit out of touch and she has I think what I would classify her is just having like the definition of being like first world problems.
6:57Yes.
6:57Ali Manno:And chronically online. Right. Chronically online. Every inconvenience is humongous. It's the biggest deal ever. Yeah. She seems there seems to be kind of like a disproportionate role of roles and responsibilities that her and her husband Kevin Mano take on when it comes to child rearing. People are just a little mean about her. And I think it's a little bit unreasonable. But I get why she can come across kind of annoying. but ultimately quite harmless. But I really do enjoy, I am excited to go through this episode because I was a huge Bachelor Nation fan, you guys all know. And Allie Mano was one of my favorite Bachelorette seasons.
7:33Ali Manno:Back when she was Allie Fedotowski. Yes, yes. She was formerly, yeah, her maiden name, Allie Fedotowski, if you guys remember, she was on Jake Pavelka's On the Wings of Love season. Who is the fucking devil, Jake Pavelka? I don't know you didn't play. Please stop interrupting me. Oh my God, awful. Did you watch Jake Pavelka's season? I watched Jake Pavelka's season and then I didn't watch Ali's for some reason. I don't know why. Yeah, I remember in college, me and all my roommates and dorm suite mates would just watch it. And we would constantly troll Jake because he's like, why is he so fucking weird?
8:05He's so scary. And he ended up, he just ended up being really nefarious. And honestly, his season, though, was one of the best seasons of Bachelor. He had some really great Final Four women. Do you remember Gia Alamond? by the way. Oh, my God. Yes.
8:24Ali Manno:Rest in peace. Rest in peace. She was so I remember she was like my favorite. She was so sweet and so beautiful. Beautiful, stunning woman. She had such a soft spoken voice. And she was also on Bachelor Pad where she got a lot of a lot more recognition and fame because she was already a favorite of the final four of Jake's season. But when he eliminated her and she was on Bachelor Pad, everyone was really rooting for her. And unfortunately, she took her life um when she was very young and i remember what i where i was when i found out devastated because i was like oh my god she was my favorite she was so sweet but uh if you guys remember from jake paul velka season there was tenley there was uh obviously gia vienna ali so a lot of really iconic bachelor nation stars yeah this as well before social media.
9:12And this was also when I feel like everyone was watching the show. Just the viewership was so high. These people like became household names. And also you could feel this since this is before social media, they really were putting themselves out there in a way that was very risky for their careers. Like they weren't going for clout. It was like the opposite. It was like, wow, this is really harmful for your like thriving career.
9:39Ali Manno:Wait, that's such a good point and actually dovetails perfectly into why Allie became such an iconic figure in Jake Pavelka's season because she famously left the show voluntarily because she was working at Facebook at the time and they threatened to terminate her unless she returned back to work. So she left. And then they shot an iconic scene a couple of episodes later where she calls Jake and she says, you know, I made the biggest mistake of my life. But yeah, to your point, this is well before Instagram. This is still when Facebook was kind of at the beginning. It was Facebook. It was like 2010.
10:13Right.
10:14Ali Manno:And we weren't really I mean, there were no influencers. There was no shilling products or deals or partnerships or campaigns. So it kind of made a lot of sense why she would leave the season. But it ended up working out really well for her because she later became the star of The Bachelorette. And now a social media star. Right. Yeah. So let's get into it. Allie Fedotowski, now man out, was born September 16th, 1984. She'll be 42 years old by the time this episode airs. She was born in Massachusetts. And she was raised in North Adams. Oh, her birthday was yesterday. Happy birthday. Oh, yeah. From the time we're recording.
10:43Ali Manno:We're recording September 17th. And she was raised in North Adams in Williamstown. And she graduated from Round Greylock Regional High School. She attended UMass Amherst. Oh, my God. When I think about that college, what do you think of, Sophie? The people that I know that went there. What do you think of? Maura Murray. Oh, oh, my God. I didn't even make that connection. Yeah. That's a case that I'm hyper fixated on. Yeah, no. I just know a ton of people that went there. So that's what I think of. Yeah. So she attended UMass for two years before transferring to Clark University. And she received a BA in psychology, graduating in 2006.
11:18Ali Manno:and she was also a member of the Pi Phi, oh, sorry, Pi Beta Kappa. Sorry, not Pi Beta Phi. Pi Beta Phi Beta Kappa. Huh, never heard of that one. And she initially wanted to be a marital therapist and studied psychology out of interest in marriage and love and relationships, which is perfect for what she ended up doing for a couple of years, being the bachelorette. And she landed a job at Facebook in ad sales and account management in San Francisco. And I remember being so impressed because she was at Facebook, I think, before they IPO'd. And she worked there in the very early days. And she actually used her vacation time to film Jake's season of The Bachelor.
11:58Ali Manno:And she later missed out on Facebook's IPO windfall. She had quit Facebook voluntarily to film her season of The Bachelorette, and she ended up losing out on probably a lot of money. Oh, I didn't even realize that, that she had to miss out on the IPO because of that. Oh, Oh, my God. That sucks. Can you imagine? I know. I know. But it actually ended up working well for her. Yeah, it worked out for her. Because she probably makes a lot. Tons. So Bachelor Days, she was on season 14 in 2010. And she finished fourth. And she eliminated herself in week six. And if you guys remember, which I don't, Jake said I love you too as F3.
12:35Ali Manno:Do you recall that, Sophie? No. But, like, that's so crazy. Because I remember how controversial that was when Ben Higgins did that. I think Ben Higgins was the next one to do that. Yeah. Yeah. And that was like such a faux pas. And it was such a big deal. Right. And do you remember why Jake Palvelka ended up being The Bachelor? Do you remember what Deanna, I think her name was? Do you remember that scene? No. What happened? He is such a weirdo. So basically he was on, I think, let me fact check this, Jake Palvelka Bachelorette season. I think it was Deanna Pappas. Excuse me. No. Jillian Harris, The Canadian.
13:13Oh, okay. Yes.
13:15Ali Manno:So he finished seventh place on Jillian Harris' season. And I remember on Jillian's season, there was a man who had a girlfriend the entire season. And upon Jake leaving, he returned to tell Jillian, just letting you know, this guy has a girlfriend. And it ensued like a feud between Jillian and this man with a girlfriend. And it was so juicy. and Jake Paul Velko was literally bawling in tears at the hotel, realizing how much he had hurt Jillian for telling her the truth. He was so lame and so thirsty. And so performative. So performative. Exactly. He was so performative. And of course, everyone, you know, all of middle America was like, oh, he's so sweet.
13:57Ali Manno:He wanted to tell Jillian the right thing. So let's make him The Bachelor. But he knew exactly what he was doing when he did that. And he's just such a weirdo. there are certain things in life where once you upgrade you're like wait wait wait we were doing what before and for me that is genuinely the bathroom i have a tushy bidet and i'm not exaggerating when i say i genuinely love it anyone that comes to my house because i got a second bidet with my own money to put into the guest room and every guest that comes over is like wait a minute your toilet is magic why is it heated why does it dry or bottom and because we've all collectively decided that the appropriate way to clean ourselves after using the bathroom is just to take a piece of paper and wipe.
14:38And somehow we're like, yeah, that's fine. But really, it's not fine because especially as women, we've been told to just accept so much bathroom-related discomfort as normal, periods, postpartum, irritation. Apparently, the answer is just that sucks. But no, I would like to introduce you to water. My favorite thing about Tushy is just how much cleaner and fresher you feel. You sit down, you cleanse with water. And if you have the EBIT, which I have, you can quite literally dry yourself with the built-in dryer. It's giving five-star hotel bathroom and you guys know I love my five-star hotels except it's in your own home and you don't have to steal the little slippers.
15:12And installation was way easier than I expected. It attaches to your existing toilet so you're not ripping apart your bathroom or calling a plumber. It's basically a little bathroom upgrade that makes you feel like you've entered a more civilized society. Also, I feel like we need to talk about the amount of toilet paper this saves. Tushy says people who make the switch up use up to 80 % less toilet paper, which in this economy, honestly, she's an environmentalist. She's a financial advisor. She's saving so much money. So if you've been sitting there thinking, do I need a bidet? I'm telling you, yes, you absolutely do.
15:45I am not joking. Even if Tushy were not a sponsor, I would purchase as many as there were bathrooms in my home. Once you have one, you're going to wonder why you waited this long. Some of life's best upgrades happen behind a closed bathroom door. For a limited time, our listeners get 10 % off their first bidet order when you use code SNARK at checkout. That's 10 % off your first bidet order at hellotushy.com with promo code SNARK. Again, go to hellotushy, T-U-S-H-Y.com and use code SNARK for 10 % off your first bidet order. Your bathroom routine can do so much better. And frankly, so can your bottom.
16:19As you guys know, I am obsessed with cozy season. Once the weather cools down, all I want to do is snuggle up with Baxter and put on a spooky movie. 19:04Ali Manno:So there was a fake stage phone call set up by producers in which Allie asked to return back to Jake's season of The Bachelor because she made the wrong choice by leaving. And the reason that she left was because Facebook gave her an ultimatum. Exactly. And producers were able to film her side of the phone call when she was living in San Francisco. And there was this blog post at the time, remember, when we would always read the blogs or contestants of people who left the show would write blogs. And she said, I know I made the wrong choice. I want to come back. And Jake is trying to process Allie's request to return.
19:41Ali Manno:And it was literally like a bad soap opera. And Jake told producers on TV, he goes, at this point in this journey, I am not in love with Allie. And he got over her pretty damn fast. It had only been a week. And Allie on the other end goes, I'm completely heartbroken. I know with 100 % certainty that I made the wrong choice. And she's like, I'm having trouble focusing on work. I can't be present in the moment. I'm half-assing everything in my job. I don't know if I'll ever find anything like Jake ever again. And it's just so funny because obviously this was so staged, but we were eating it all up.
20:18Ali Manno:And at this point, Jake was left with Vienna, Tenley, and Gia. And a quick notable mention, shout out to Tenley, she was on Bachelor in Paradise, I think, a couple times or once. And she was also, I believe, in Bachelor Pad. Yes. And she ended up getting with Kipton, who I think was also part of Jillian Harris' season. And at this time in the Bachelor franchise, a lot of them moved to San Diego. I saw Tenley and Kipton just happenstance at Sprinkles Cupcakes, and I took a photo with them, and they were lovely. And I remember Allie and her F1 Roberto were also, which we'll get into. What are those names, by the way?
20:55Kipton with a Y. Yeah, right. Kipton was so cute. I loved him. Just so funny. Tenley. Who are these people?
21:03Ali Manno:Tenley. I know. I remember Tenley was heartbroken, and everyone wanted Jake to pick Tenley because she was a sweet, good-natured, classy woman, and Vienna was kind of like the... Vienna was the villain. Yeah, she was the villain. And do you remember her hometown date when Jake went to her house and she lived in a swamp in New Orleans or something? Vienna did? Yes. And her dad was like, welcome to my home. And he had a shotgun, like... Oh, my God. No. And you know the producers totally told the family, like, you're going to lean into this like southern and have your shotgun out yeah it was so put on i don't know why like i'll i remember nothing from childhood but i remember like where jake was when he visited vienna's home okay so on after the final rose march 1st 2010 ali was named season 6 bachelorette and her season appeared on may 24th 2010 and she accepted her final rose from insurance agent roberto martinez who was the first Latino winner of the franchise.
21:58Ali Manno:And oh my goodness, I loved Roberto so damn much. I loved him down. He was so sweet, fan favorite, so handsome, so hot. And it was so funny. I remember watching her season. Every time he came on the screen, they would play like salsa music. Oh my God. Like so racist. Yeah, that's like that's kind of racist. I'm like, wow, you guys are really being culturally appropriative, racist. But he was kind of like the caliente, spicy Latino man that everyone loved. He had a great, favorable edit, and everyone was really, really excited when Allie decided to get with Roberto. Do you also remember during her season, again, I didn't watch her season, but I remember it was one of those famous moments where she, oh my God, what was that moment?
Read the full transcript
22:43Oh, are you thinking about when the guy had a tattoo? No, when the guy, like, was...
22:50Ali Manno:Or sang her a song. He's like, Allie, I love you. This freak of nature. Sure. It was when someone, um, Wait, what? Someone's. Allie, was it the one that had a girlfriend? It was when she, like, she, like, chased someone out. Oh, my God. I'm totally misremembering, I think. I think, yes. Okay, maybe I am confusing Julie. She confronted him. Yes. Yes, and I remember the cameras were moving, and she was following him through the lobby of the hotel. Yes, that's what it was. You're going to regret this. That's what it was. she was like chasing him out yes okay i'm remembering correctly yes he had a girlfriend yes okay maybe i'm misremembering the jillian harris and jake thing he told jillian something that ended up being heartbreaking for jillian but yes i think the guy's name was jason on alley season who had a girlfriend she goes you're gonna regret this and he was like lip they were chasing asia she was chasing him through the hotel lobby jason ali fedotowski Mickey Peeting.
23:53Yeah, it's they don't make TV like this anymore because this was so it felt so raw and real. But I don't know if it was less produced or more produced than reality television today, would you say? I think less produced. I mean, I don't know. It's all produced. If you watch the show Unreal, I told you guys the show Unreal is so good. And it really is a peek into the world of The Bachelor and Bachelorette franchises and how produced it is. it's all fucking produced yeah also i must i think i'm misremembering something but no but what you were saying about the chasing is spot on that was one of the most iconic seasons
24:29Ali Manno:i would equate it if you guys didn't watch alley season to colton jumping the fence it was something that was and i remember someone being on crutches yes what am i i'm like no like what is happening in my brain right now where i like i'm having like little moments peek through but i can't articulate exactly what this moment was. Now it's really bothering me. No, you're right. The guy that she was chasing through the hotel lobby was on crutches. And that's what made it all the more hilarious because he was on crutches, but he was hobbling around trying to evade Allie. So you're not wrong. Hilarious.
25:03Yes. Okay. There is someone named Justin. Justin. Yes. It happened during Allie's season when Allie learned that Justin, an entertainment wrestler who had been hobbling around on a broken foot, had a girlfriend back home. Chris Harrison told Allie that the girlfriend and Jessica had contacted the show and said Justin had continued secretly calling her while filming. So she confronted Justin at the hotel in Istanbul. Yes. Because they were in Turkey. Instead of really answering her, he grabbed his passport and wallet and tried to flee the hotel. Allie and Chris chased after him and he was on crutches.
25:34Yes. That's what it was. Yes. Why does our brain work like this? Oh my God, that's so funny. I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday. And it's hilarious that you didn't even watch a season and you like have this ingrained. I still remember this moment. Okay, I'm so glad I could, like, put those pieces together. Yes. And remember them. Okay.
25:51Ali Manno:It being in Istanbul as well. Sorry, that took me a minute. No, if you guys watch this season, I hope that you guys are as giddy as we are because this was just such an iconic moment of reality television. Yes. So after she, Ali, had picked Roberto as her F1, they were together for a long, long time. They both decided to move to San Diego together. My roommate saw Roberto at our local Trader Joe's. I remember she took a photo with him and we were all so excited because we were like, he's so hot. They were postponing the wedding a little bit at a time. Like they would soft launch. Yes, we're getting married.
26:23We're engaged. We're happily engaged. But they would postpone the wedding, postpone the wedding.
26:26Ali Manno:So in October of 2010, Allie downplayed those rumors that their relationship was on the rocks. And she was like, we didn't meet in the most traditional way. We had a very short courtship. We only knew each other nine weeks before we got engaged. We're still trying to figure our lives out as individuals, which completely makes sense. It is pretty crazy when you think about the way these reality shows that end in marriage, the short amount of time you actually spend with your F1 until you decide to get engaged. Like, it really is just the courtship. I remember JoJo and Jordan saying our relationship was so different from when we got engaged on The Bachelor to what it was when we got engaged a second time.
27:00Ali Manno:Like, we literally were just dating. So it makes a lot of sense why Allie and Roberto were being a bit more conservative and taking it slow. But fans, of course, not understanding this timeline, they're like, no, you guys are meant to be. And why aren't you married already if you're engaged? Like, just go forward. I always do think it's kind of sweet when these couples like get re-engaged because it is such a rushed, crazy timeline when they're on the show. And it shows that they actually have spent the time to really, really, really work on their relationship outside of the show and recommit to each other in like a real world way.
27:34Like Joey and Kelsey randomly did that recently. Oh, yeah. I didn't watch their season, but I do know that they're still together, which is really cute. Yeah. And very rare, honestly, for a bachelor to still be with his F1. Yeah. So in November 2011, after being engaged for a year and a half, they announced that they were separating. And they told E! News later on that we were unhappy more than we were happy.
28:02Ali Manno:And in March 2019, she said that her biggest regret was not getting to know Roberto well enough. She said, I just thought Roberto was so hot that every time I was around him, I was just making out with him. So I think she later admits it was like a far more lustful relationship than she was really trying to understand. like whether they were actually truly compatible. I feel like this is so common, especially for the Bachelor franchise, actually more than the Bachelorette, is that they are so thinking with their dicks. And they pick the I think of Nick Vile and Vanessa Grimaldi, like they were so not compatible in any way, but she was to him the hottest contestant.
28:34So he like chose her like they always just choose who they are the most sexually attracted to, which I guess makes sense because that's all you can really go off of because you don't know these people yet.
28:44Ali Manno:No, 100%. Like, it sounds shallow, but at the same time... It makes sense. Yeah. And I think I remember, I don't know who said this, but I recall one of the Bachelor or Bachelorettes saying that, you know, when you arrive on the first night, you already have a type in mind. So you have these, like, I don't know, 25, 30 guys that arrive in this limo. You're probably only really attracted to maybe like five or six. That's why I could never be The Bachelorette. The fact that you have to make out with all these guys that they're really not attracted to, I wouldn't be able to do that. And then do it on camera, no less.
29:17Yeah. It's just my nightmare.
29:20Ali Manno:So after her and Roberto broke up, she wanted to take her stab at entertainment and hosting. So she was a Fox 5 San Diego News correspondent in 2010, and she was actually tapped by NBC's First Look, which I completely remember. she hosted this weekly lifestyle television show. And this is where she actually meets her now husband, who was a radio TV host named Kevin Mano in 2013. And he was actually a producer on First Look, which is how they ended up meeting. And I remember that Allie was the First Look host correspondent for the first couple of years. And then Audrina Patridge later took her place.
29:54Ali Manno:But Allie meeting Kevin on the set of her show reminds me of how Hillary met her husband, Matthew Koma as they were producing records for Hillary. And it's really interesting when you have like the woman. Yeah, yeah. And you know what's kind of weird? Kevin Mano, Allie's husband, looks a lot, honestly, to me, like Hillary Duff's husband, Matthew Koma. And if you scroll down just like two pages, they have the same kind of look. I don't know what it is. Oh, it kind of does. Right? Yeah, a little bit. So Allie, she later hosts or was a judge on Miss USA in 2012. She She was an E! News correspondent for two years from 2013 to 2015.
30:32Ali Manno:She was the co-host of Wondery's Bachelor Happy Hour podcast from 2019 to early 2020. I do kind of remember that. I think they were the first hosts of that show. And that podcast has since kind of circulated. Had so many rotating hosts. Yes, so many. But I remember Rachel and Allie were the first, I think. But Allie later left in early 2020 due to time and family constraints. and she was replaced by Becca Kufrin, I believe. So let's get into her relationship with Kevin Mano. So he was an LA-based radio DJ and I remember hearing him on 104.3 My FM every morning growing up. So at least that's how I knew him.
31:16They became engaged in 2015 and she got pregnant a few months after in January 2016.
31:21Ali Manno:And they had a beachside wedding and they had a couple of celebrity guests including Kaylee Cuoco, Hayley Duff, Lacey Chabert, who is Gretchen Wieners from Mean Girls, and Andy Dorfman. Andy Dorfman would be a really good episode too, by the way. Did you watch her, Susan? Yes, she would. Yes. I loved her books. Did you ever read them? No. Oh, they were juicy, juicy, juicy, juicy. And I guess Kevin had been married prior to getting engaged to Allie. He has, he was married to someone else for about a year. And I don't know if there's not much on that, but this is his second wife and they share two children together molly who was born in july 2016 and riley their son who's born may 2018 it is kind of weird how he styles his hair like it's like he like makes it look like he's like a rock star yeah i he's kind of sure gangly looking guy again no and he's cute he's not like a bad looking guy at all it's just funny how he styles his hair like he like spikes it a little bit yeah people comment about that a lot on reddit they're like what's the hair they're like the sideburns are also kind of like he intentionally makes sideburns very odd and they had conceived molly their firstborn before their wedding and she had ali had been really open about her marriage suffering after the birth of their second child and at times she admitted that her and kevin were not sleeping in the same bed she told entertainment tonight my husband and i have not slept in the same bed in two months he does a morning radio show, so he works really early, and I need him to get good sleep.
32:55Even on weekends
32:56Ali Manno:when he's not doing his show, I need him to get good sleep so he can wake up with Molly so I can get a few extra hours of sleep. So he sleeps in the guest room, I sleep in a room with the baby, and the baby wakes up all night so he gets better sleep because he has to wake up and be super dad all day long with Molly. It's a lot. Our relationship suffers. I'd love to say, oh yeah, me and my husband are passionately making out on the side with our two kids. I'm not even sure I've made out with my husband in a really long time. And honestly, good for her for admitting that in 2016. I can't even tell you how many of all my girlfriends have the same exact thing with their husbands after two kids.
33:26I think a part of me is like, oh, yeah, that's very refreshing and honest. And then part of me is like, why are you sharing this? Yeah. It's like both. Like, two things can be true. It's like, oh, I guess I kind of appreciate that. But also, like, shouldn't this be like something that's kept private?
33:43Ali Manno:Yes. And that is her whole M.O. She loves to overshare and share with her audience, things that we're not even asking for. Totally optional, by the way. And she wrote in a blog post in 2018 of how she often gets jealous of Kevin because she is a stay-at-home mom. She's a content creator. She's an influencer. And Kevin is able to step out of the house and work a job that he, you know, he's a radio DJ. And Allie is honest. And she's like, listen, I get jealous that he is going to work and I have to be home with my children, even though she has a nanny. And she said, quote, honestly, I find myself feeling really angry at Kevin sometimes because he gets to go to work every day and gets a break.
34:18Ali Manno:I remember going to work after we had Molly and feeling like it was a vacation and not even work. And my mom job at home is 10 times harder now that we have two kids. So I bet going to work will feel like a spa day once I go back. Which again, I completely can understand just knowing my girlfriend that has the same exact life. Her husband works full time. She's with the kids 24-7. And she's like, it does feel sometimes like an unfair balance. And sometimes I feel like I can never turn off and he gets lunch breaks or he's able to come home after a night off. Like, I totally get this. But again, no one's asking.
34:49Yeah, it's a little bit like oversharing. But again, appreciate her honesty. Right. Both can be true. They have moved a couple of times.
34:59Ali Manno:I remember following her when she was living in L.A. And I recall when she announced her move to Nashville in 2021 and thinking, oh, that's kind of random. Like, Kevin, as far as I've been listening to him on 104.3 My FM, he was L.A. You've been living in L.A. doing the whole entertainment Hollywood thing. But Nashville is kind of random. But maybe they were trying to like go to a more like a less left state. Perhaps I think a lot of Californians fled to Texas, to Nashville, to Florida during like the 2020. So maybe she was a part of that crew. But I realized that she returned to California just last year.
35:32Now she's living in San Diego. So. And she said when she decided to move to Nashville from L.A.
35:40Ali Manno:that she was relieved because she felt that L.A. offered kind of this like bullying mentality. There was a lot of bullying in the entertainment industry and that people don't necessarily see it. But there's a lot of hate in the industry that she was in and she was excited to go back or excuse me to leave and go to Nashville. See, that's something that I actually wish she would elaborate on. Like, what do you mean? Like, who is bullying you in what way? Maybe she means like, and I'm not trying to like discount or invalidate her experience, but like does she mean that it's really competitive and cutthroat?
36:11I just, I'm like, who's bullying you? Now I want to know. Oh, so we'll get into it.
36:14Ali Manno:Yeah, we'll get into it. Oh, okay, okay. Yeah, because there, she does admit sometimes, and I won't say like many instances, but she does, she is honest about an instance that made her cry, which honestly I kind of understand why. So let's just get into that right now. Now, she was an E! News correspondent for a couple of years in the early 2010s, and she had previously guest hosted, co-hosted, and she was now landed a full-time job. But she did her first red carpet for E! in 2013, and she reveals this story over a decade later on her podcast. And she said, OK, listen, Jake Gyllenhaal shows up for a red carpet.
36:51Ali Manno:I'm going to kill it. He walks up. I'm shaking in my heels, which I'm horrible in heels. And I say to him, hi, Jake, who'd you bring tonight? like for a date. Who's your date tonight? He goes, bye-bye, and walks away from me. I looked back at the camera, my producer, and I just start to cry. Allie said that she feared she would be fired at the time because she failed to produce any answers from one of these big movie stars. And she claimed that at that same awards show, Jake Gyllenhaal also iced another reporter. And she says there was an interviewer next to me, and her question to him was, so if you don't get an Oscar for this film, those tattoos totally should, because he was all tatted up for the film.
37:24And he goes, bye, and walks away, because he's just a serious actor. That is so fucking rude. That is rude. I think it's like if you're going to be, and I also understand it because it's like it must be so annoying having to do so much press just because you're like an actor. You have to like do all these interviews and do all these red carpets. But it's also your job. Like, come on. And these people are just trying to like do their jobs. Remember, I think it was Hugh Grant that was being interviewed by Ashley Graham. Hold on, I'm going to look this up. Yeah. Ashley Graham in 2023 conducted a very, very awkward interview at the 95th Oscar ceremony.
38:10Ali Manno:And he was just such an asshole to her. And so flippant, so rude, so frigid, so cold. And it kind of just makes me wonder, like, if you're showing up to these awards, there's an expectation that you're going to be asked questions that you were uncomfortable with right that's gonna happen and yeah that sucks but at the same time you should have in your back pocket how you hope to how you aim to respond to these questions knowing you don't want to answer them there's like a pr can response or a media train response that you're able to offer these interviewees interviewers knowing that they have a job to do too just as you do showing up on this carpet right and at least give them like 45 seconds of your time 45 seconds you don't have to be rude just like do 45 seconds and then you have a PR person who can pull you away.
38:57Exactly. Exactly. And Ali says, listen, being at the
39:01Ali Manno:receiving end of cranky A-listers, it was my least favorite job I ever had. And she said it completely wore down her confidence and ate away at her soul. So I think that's just probably like an example. But I can't imagine being, I mean, you're in the fashion industry and I feel like it's not necessarily 100 % the same, but you know, it's, you're dealing with people that have big personalities and people that you have to roll out the red carpet for. And I can imagine when you're the person that's interviewing these people, you'll kind of expect it to kind of just like lay down and take it. And that can be really detrimental to someone's mental health, I can imagine.
39:34Yeah. Yeah. Because these people, when you say big personalities and also really big egos where, you know, they obviously are not always the nicest because they feel like they are above doing whatever it is that you're asking them to do, answering a few interview questions. right um and obviously not always like we've seen so many like red carpet interviews of celebrities being really really nice and then you have those awkward interactions like you know that one viral clip of shailene woodley and um someone on a red carpet is interviewing her and she goes hi and the interviewer it was like kind of like a stupid thing to say she goes i'm so hungry are you hungry and shailene woodley goes no i mean you should probably eat something then and it's just so awkward but it's like what like sometimes the interviewer i think you can do like a little bit better than that you know like sometimes it is on the interviewer too and we talk about this with
40:28Ali Manno:jake shane when he was on the golden globes or whatever and he was asking the stupidest questions and it's like this is why we need real journalists to be on the carpet yeah no one was even like rude to him really it was just like him asking stupid questions so i think it goes both ways too where It's like, come prepared with good questions. And also celebrities can be nicer. Right. Play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. Like, come prepared. And I think this is why, yeah, it goes both ways. Yeah. So she had a blog back in the day, and I don't remember, like, perusing this blog. I don't even remember what it was.
41:02I think she had, like, links to the clothes she would wear.
41:04Ali Manno:But it was called All Things Allie Loves, allieloves.com, L-U-V-S.com. and she was criticized and said on her Instagram, I just cried my eyes out reading some comments on my blog because she was criticized for calling herself a stay-at-home mom when she had a nanny the entire time. And she wrote on her Instagram, I'm going to try not to cry on here because I don't want to let it get to me more than it already has. I wrote a blog post the other day about having a nanny. All the projects I was working on was starting to be too much and I needed some help, so we hired somebody. I didn't want you guys to see on social media to make you feel like you should live up to the perfect photos of moms with blown-out hair.
41:39Ali Manno:full makeup perfectly clean house I'm not perfect and I'm sorry and she wrote an edit saying that I'm not a stay-at-home mom and that she was just trying to convey that she's lucky she gets to work from home most days and be with her kids but it's also hard to get work done and to that I say everyone that mom shanes anyone for complaining about having to work at home and also having a nanny get a life like it's so fucking hard I have so many girlfriends that do it on their all on their own and I have also so many girlfriends I do it with a nanny both are equally fucking hard Shut up and stop shaming people, period.
42:11Yeah, absolutely. And I mean, she is, I understand where it's like, well, you have a nanny, so you're not technically a stay-at-home mom. She is a mom who stays at home. Right. So she is a stay-at-home mom. She does have help, but she's also home with the kids. Like, it's both. Right. And I think that something that Allie, I wouldn't even say it's a problem, but what she gets
42:34Ali Manno:in trouble for is when people get angry at her and they make it known that they're angry with her she will often take to the comments and you know who else I think is really similar to this is actually Caitlin Bristow. Caitlin Bristow does this a lot too. Yeah. Where someone will criticize her about something she said on her podcast and she'll start going erratic on Instagram and start taking to stories and clarifying what she meant and I actually think that that brings more heat to the creator because it's like if you just stayed silent people would kind of forget about it but you'll never win from these people these keyboard warriors that want to take you down and want you to address it.
43:06Ali Manno:And I think with Caitlin and Allie, they try and prove them wrong, but then it ends up spiraling even more out of control. Yeah. So I think with this stay-at-home mom thing, it's like it really isn't that deep to the people that were bullying her, like get a life and leave her alone. Yeah. That's what I think. So in 2016, Caitlin Bristow season of The Bachelorette aired, and this was really, really salacious. And we've talked, oh, we've done a Caitlin Bristow episode. and we talked about how salacious her season was because she was one she was the first bachelorette on this franchise to openly have sex with someone that wasn't her f1 before the fantasy suites yes prior to fantasy suites and she was getting a lot of comments essentially slut shaming her and ali took to her blog and her instagram defending caitlin saying that quote 95 of the bachelor and bachelorettes have sex during filming and added i've heard mike fleiss who is the creator of the show, says that one of the bachelors had sex with something like six of his 25 women.
44:05So let me just dive into the topic by saying slut-shaming is not cool.
44:09Ali Manno:It makes me so angry that there is such a double standard in this world when it comes to men and women having sex. So yes, she may go back and forth between the guys. She might end up sleeping with both guys. And like I said, I assure you, she is not the first bachelorette to sleep with a guy and certainly not the first to sleep with two guys. And this story obviously at the time gets a lot of attention because I think even in 2016, we were clutching our pearls realizing that Caitlin Bristow was hooking up with Nick Vile and then Sean Booth in the same week. But I think at the time it was just too much for this franchise to handle because it does lean really conservatively.
44:41Ali Manno:It does lean on just choosing one person to marry and sleep with. But when in reality - It is such a double standard, though, because the men who do it, no one cares. But the women, they get called sluts. Right. And I think Nick, I can't, no, I think Nick only slept with his F1. And the reason I don't remember this is because during the Almost Famous podcast with Ashley Iancanetti and Ben Higgins, they interviewed Nick. And he, Nick Vile admitted, he's like, Ben, I remember before my season was filming, you sat me down for dinner. It was you and Lauren and me and by myself. and the one piece of advice you gave me at this dinner with Lauren sitting right next to you was whatever you do don't have sex with more than one person because that later ended up being a huge issue in Ben and Lauren's relationship she could not get over the fact that Ben had slept with Jojo not only told Jojo that he loved her but also slept with Jojo which was like even more insult to injury so I think Nick Vile actually only slept with Vanessa but at the time it was very brave for Allie to have spoken up and for Caitlin Bristow at the time because so much hate was being thrown and Caitlin's way.
45:50But I feel like now if this were to have happened, everyone would be on team Caitlin. I hope. I think. What do you think? Wait, say that again? Would you think that if Caitlin's season of The Bachelorette were airing and she were to have slept with Nick Fial before Fantasy Suites, people would still be calling her a slut? I think they would. I think, Well, I mean, it's hard to really picture it because no one is watching The Bachelorette as much as they were back in the day. So it's like three people would watch that happen and be outraged. But yeah, I think that that would still get backlash because it's a woman doing it.
46:24Ali Manno:Right. And it's like there's such a double standard. Which is so ridiculous because when you were dating, it is normal to sleep with people you were dating. Yeah. And if you are dating multiple people, if you have, quote unquote, what the kids say, a roster, I mean, obviously be safe and use protection and make sure that you're taking care of yourself. But like, it's fine to do that. And in normal life, we would never shame or judge any of our friends for sleeping with two people at once. But when it's shown. Conservative people watching the show would. Right. Yeah. Yeah, that's true. They would actually judge you.
46:57It's a very conservative audience. And I feel like we've talked about this before, how the Bachelor franchise is low key, like Christian propaganda. It is. the prayer circles, like the religious talk. I don't know if you saw this also, that Chris Harrison just announced a new traditional, it's called The Vow, and he like shades The Bachelor. It's a new dating show that he's hosting, and it's supposed to be more traditional. It's on Fox.
47:23Ali Manno:Of course it would be on Fox, number one. But number two, you're completely right, that those that are watching The Bachelor, that believe in the messaging of only sleeping with your F1, It's shocking for them to see people sleeping with multiple people. We are young, progressive women. Like, of course, we're like, yeah, what's the big deal? But you're talking about middle-aged, you know, conservative Christian people, Facebook moms, even Facebook dads in, like, you know, the Bible Belt watching the show. So they're so scandalized. I know. And it's funny because is Ohio, like, is Ohio a pretty conservative state?
48:01Ali Manno:Like, or people, is that considered? It's famously a swing state. So it goes both ways. But I would say, you know, it depends obviously on, you know, which part of Ohio you're talking about. Sure. Because I feel like I've only lived in California, so I've only known just like progressive values. Progressive, yeah. I live in New York now. Like we're both like part of the coastal elite. Yeah, exactly. And I just it's so funny because we live in such a bubble and then we take a step back and say, oh, no, this is really, really scandalous. And this is really, really wrong to a lot of people, which to us, it's like a normal Saturday night, baby.
48:37Like, what are you talking about? So let's get more into a couple of her other scandals outside of her standing up for Caitlin Bristow so bravely.
48:46Ali Manno:So in 2022 to 2023, Allie wrote this blog post about her relationship with alcohol and her relationship with CBD and THC. So, like so many people, she was drinking a lot of wine in the pandemic. She would have her nightly wine, which so many of us were. But she said that she started to lean less on wine and more on CBD to replace her nightly wine. And she said in a post that she owned approximately 3 % of a company called FOCL, which is a plant-powered supplement for sleep, calm, and relief based on their website. And she was hawking this FOCL CBD brand. But people realized, they're like, wait a minute, wait a minute.
49:20Ali Manno:is this a company that you have like a stake in, that you have equity in? And she wasn't disclosing that. And she wasn't disclosing that. So she wrote that she had chosen equity in the company rather than payment because she strongly believes in this product. And she was also providing discount codes for FOCL CBD gummies. And the other issue was she was saying that CBD actually, despite like kind of talking about this in this blog post, didn't actually replace her nightly wine. But it just kind of supplemented it to help her relax. But it wasn't sufficient. And people were like, well, which is it?
49:51Ali Manno:You kind of first said that you were replacing it with nightly wine, but now it's more of a supplementary thing to your nightly wine. Like, pick one. And then she starts to talk about how she got into full-spectrum CBD, which contains trace amounts of THC. And she said, now this supplement with trace amounts of THC, this was it for her. This felt more sufficient. This felt more wine-like. And she wrote that she previously tried marijuana and disliked the feeling of being out of control, but she said the tiny trace amounts of THC and the full spectrum CBD product felt a bit different to her. And people were mad at this because it was like THC was actually part of the story from the very start, but she wasn't saying that.
50:27Ali Manno:And by 2025, she was promoting and using these FOCL gummies and the marketing increasingly positioned them explicitly as an alternative to alcohol. And commentators were saying like, listen, you're not reporting that you have equity stake in this brand. And they reported Allie to the FTC because she wasn't properly disclosing her ownership and her financial control. financial relationship and which is a problem like if you have an equity like an ownership and a brand you need to disclose that and people people started getting pissed because they were like okay we think that you have a problem which is a little bit silly in my opinion yeah like what is i get the controversy with the her not disclosing that she has uh equity in this brand But it's like, what is the controversy with her taking CBD gummies?
51:16Ali Manno:Exactly. And so many people take CBD gummies to sleep daily or THC gummies to sleep daily. It's a non-issue. It's a non-issue. Do whatever is right for your body. I think that she is stuck with that conservative audience that watched her on The Bachelorette. And now everything she does, they're like clutching their pearls. Wait, you're so right. I'm like, what's the big deal? But you're absolutely right. It's the same people that were super conservative, that believed in her staying with her F1, that are so conservative and don't believe in sleeping with more than one person that are like, how could you take CBD gummies?
51:48Ali Manno:That is like a, that's a drug. When really, like CBD, I'm pretty sure, I know THC obviously isn't legalized.
51:58Okay, CBD is legal across the U.S. at the federal level if it is derived from hemp and contains less than 0.3 % of THC. So it is legal.
52:09Ali Manno:But I think the fact that she's even admitting that she takes THC to help supplement her nightly wine or to kind of it creates similar effects as her nightly wine is very controversial for some of her listeners. Which, if you think about it, like alcohol to me, I mean, this is debatable, obviously, but alcohol can be far more potent and dysregulating and horrible for your body than THC and CBD. But, of course, there's always going to be a double standard. So going back to her stay-at-home mom and her kind of the first four problems of it all, the biggest online sentiment is what the hell does Allie Mano do all day?
52:45Ali Manno:She's always complaining about being, I'm so exhausted, I'm so overwhelmed. But then she posts about her doing like girly pop things, like going to the salon all the time. So a typical influencer snark from someone will say like, okay, she doesn't like to drive. She doesn't like to get her feet or hands wet. She's laser focused on getting her Botox. She has a hard time managing her two kids' schedules. But now you have Kevin who has to do all like the kind of what people would usually disclose as being like the wife duties of managing the kids' schedules, dropping them off, things like that. So Kevin still is fully working.
53:16Ali Manno:He's a radio host. But it seems like he's very much leaning into the motherly duties. And people are upset about that. And again, who's upset about that other than her very conservative audience that thinks that the woman belongs at home, should be cooking and cleaning, should be rearing the children. and it should be the man that should actually be going to work every day from nine to five and providing for the family. And they're just really bothered by her daily activities. So for instance, there's a screenshot of one of her Instagram stories saying, you know this about me, that I don't go to the grocery store that often.
53:47Ali Manno:And I didn't realize it's because I just don't like driving. I never even realized this about myself, but I always avoid driving when I can. But now that we have a golf cart, I love driving it so much, I do some of the grocery shopping instead of Kevin doing it all. So all her listeners and her followers are like, oh, so now you're admitting that Kevin does all the grocery shopping. You're only doing it when you're allowed a golf cart because it makes it easier so you don't have to drive. They always call Kevin the real MVP and they're like, he's actually the one taking care of the kids, which again is rooted, I think, in misogyny.
54:17Ali Manno:Why is it that Kevin can't be super dad? Yeah, it may not be traditional for your household that Kevin is going to work and he's also grocery shopping and he's also helping take care of the kids. But like, why is that a bad thing? Maybe he likes that job. I think that her problem is that she, like, none of this stuff is anyone's business. Like, the household duties, what she does all day, who cares? But the fact that she is oversharing so much, it makes it everyone's business. So now you're opening yourself up to criticism about your household duties and what your husband is doing versus what you're doing.
54:49Because, like, at the end of the day, that's no one's business. But, like, you're putting it out there. So, of course, people are going to have, like, thoughts and feelings about it.
54:57Ali Manno:Exactly. And I think the things that she always complains about, I don't like driving. I don't like grocery shopping. Okay. Some people may also think that, but no one's taking the time out of their day to write a whole Instagram post about it complaining. So she gives us a lot of material to snark on. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that she hates these things, but it's giving us a lot of material. I also had to look this up because I remember I was like, what was the thing where she was begging her followers for engagement? And I found it. So this was about a year ago, and she was begging her broadcast channel for likes and engagement.
55:32She said, hey, family, I'll try not to do this on here, but I know you guys are the most supportive, amazing people, so I'm just going to go ahead and ask. If you have two minutes to go like and comment on this video I posted, it would mean so much to me. I work so, so, so hard on these, and it's always so disheartening when nobody sees it because the engagement is on the lower end. And then I start to stress out about it, and the last thing I need in my life is stress right now. Huh. So I just thought I'd ask. Sending love back to all of you as well. So like that is such like entitled behavior.
56:01And that is snark worthy to me because it's like if you're not like I always hate when influencers or content creators beg for engagement. Because if your content was good, you wouldn't have to beg for engagement. Why don't you just make good content? Do you know what this reminds me of? Serena fucking Kerrigan. Serena fucking Kerrigan. The amount of people that sent us. I want to talk about this on Dark Energy Tuesday. that we'll record in the coming days. Yeah, which we'll have already, but you guys would have already listened to it. You guys will have heard it first, but so many people sent us the post of Serena Kerrigan begging people to buy her book so she could be a New York Times bestseller.
56:35We couldn't see the post, by the way. Right, post-available. Because we're blocked. Post-available because we're blocked, but I figured it was everyone sending us Serena Kerrigan's post because it is so obnoxious and shameless. You're begging people to buy your book. Why don't you just make a good book that people want to buy?
56:52Ali Manno:And every, so many real MVP baby snarks screenshotted it because they knew we were blocked. Hey, no, you're blocked. Just wanted you to see this. And I was like, oh my God, it's so pathetic. It is so pathetic. And I agree. Snark worthy. So like with the begging for engagement thing and also her being like, it stresses me out when you're not liking my posts. And the last thing I need is more stress. What is so stressful? What is so stressful about your life, Allie? Right, right, right, right. And exactly. She just over shares about her children's activities, her health, family's health, travel, arguments, small grievances and annoyances.
57:28She's also posted about like like her son in the hospital with like a nosebleed. And then also like her daughter having night terrors. Like she over shares about her children in a way that's like you don't really need to put their business on the Internet as much as you do. Yeah.
57:42Ali Manno:When it comes to the children stuff, some here and there is fine. But if you're posting about like their diagnoses and stuff, and it just it feels a little bit too gratuitous, in my opinion. It's just you don't need to share that. Yep, agreed. 1:00:04on Vinted. Mr. President, my company formed me of the explosion on our rig on October 2nd. Causing massive water displacement and triggering a tsunami. They all heap the blame on me. Tom Cruise is... Digger got us into this mess, and Digger's gonna dig us out. From the director of Birdman and The Revenant. What would happen if I stopped doing it? You stalled, you freeze to death, that's what. With great power comes great deniability. I'm not the first daddy. Digger. See the trailer online. Only in the years October 2nd. Rated R. Under 17 on a minute without parent. This episode is brought to you by Netflix's new series, East of Eden.
1:00:39A bold reimagining of John Steinbeck's masterpiece following generations of the Trask family through love, betrayal, and the choices that shape humanity. Starring Mike Feist and Christopher Abbott as the Trask brothers and Florence Pugh as Kathy Ames. The complex anti-heroine determined to build the life she wants, no matter the cost. Watch East of Eden, October 1st, only on Netflix. So, Kevin recently, he was diagnosed with cancer, thyroid cancer in January of 2025.
1:01:14Ali Manno:And Allie, of course, told her followers and said, thankfully, it's very treatable. He has two malignant spots on his right side and it appears it is also in one lymph node. But we won't know for sure until the surgery. And she went into detail. She documented the entire process of surgery. But apparently, Kevin and Allie had done one of those really expensive like PreNuvo scans, like thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars. Kardashians, they hawk it a lot. And interestingly enough, when I go to Kevin's Instagram, on his bio is just the PreNuvo discount code for the body scans. And they're up to$3 ,000.
1:01:47Ali Manno:And it takes a very privileged person to be able to get these scans. Great if you can, but, you know, you don't need to. um the argument was though she was shilling even during her husband's cancer diagnosis something that's supposed to be like kind of a i don't know a more private thing but it seems like kevin's also letting into it because the pre-new vote link is literally the only thing on his bio so maybe they're both shilling it together um i've heard of i think that that is what detected Speaking of Bachelor Nation, what detected Grocery Stored Joe's brain tumor? Oh, wow. Okay. So, but like you don't need a$3 ,000 body scan in order to detect cancer, obviously.
1:02:31And I think that's what people have a problem with. They're like not everyone is in the position to be able to throw a couple of thousands of dollars to this private health care provider.
1:02:40Ali Manno:Right. There are other ways to get diagnosed. Yes. Right. Get your frequent checks, do preemptive measures to make sure that your body is healthy and happy. But it just seems a bit out of touch to hawk a$3 ,000 scan. And I feel like they're always, and they're not the ones paying for it. They're getting these for free and they advertise it to their followers. All of these celebrities and influencers advertise this like body scan thing, which again could be, I guess, helpful in, you know, that way that you can diagnose these things that you didn't even know you were looking for. But again, you don't need to get this thing to get diagnosed.
1:03:19Ali Manno:Right. And shortly after Kevin was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, unfortunately, Owen, her dog, had been experiencing seizures in and around the same time. And they detected a very large brain tumor in Owen with brain swelling. And without treatment, their neurologist gave Owen their dog about a month and people thought it was and kevin's cancer also was was gone by this yes right and people were saying like she kept posting about the dog's very unfortunate journey and they said that they didn't like the fact that she was kind of comparing the hardships of owen's diagnosis to kevin's diagnosis and how she was exploiting all the health conditions and i think that one's tough because I think with me and Sophie are your dog parent I'm basically yeah I'm like oh my god no like that would be so hard to have your husband and your dog have cancer at once I think that's oh my god people are so like if they nitpick everything she does and I understand that some of the things she does are annoying and stark worthy but it's like her dog and her husband had cancer like yeah that's that is traumatizing that's that's definitely a lot but it does sound like her husband's cancer was fully resolved by February 2025.
1:04:35Yes. Right. Right. So fortunately,
1:04:37Ali Manno:he was well and good. Yeah. But people were really pissed about, you know, with all these health scares within her family, I guess Kevin was given the opportunity to do some surgery for his cancer. And it kind of fell around the same week as Allie had a bunch of other appointments. She apparently had a dentist appointment, a dog dermatologist appointment. So Kevin's doctor was like, hey, we can get you in for this surgery, you know, this week. And Allie just resisted and said, no, no, we have too much going on. Let's like postpone it to the original date of two weeks. And people were pissed. They're like, if the doctor wanted to move the surgery up a couple of weeks, you should do it.
1:05:15Ali Manno:Like move a couple of things around, shuffle a couple of things around. This is your husband's like recovery. Her problem is oversharing. Because no one needs to know that you moved to surgery because you had too much going on that week. No one needs to know that. But she shares everything. And it opens herself up to all of these people that nitpick everything she does, obviously. That's her issue. Yes. Yes, exactly. Overall, oversharing every thought that comes to her mind, which is very easy bait for online snarkers. She also has, I think what the trouble is with Allie as well, is she has this really conservative audience that is from The Bachelor.
1:05:51Ali Manno:and she also has a really conservative audience that is really into like holistic medicine right and i think that with holistic medicine comes a lot of shilling of products like there's so the health and wellness industry is like a billion dollar industry right and she's very much at the center of it or she she sells a lot of these products as um for her own financial gain supplements beauty treatments wellness products foods it's a recurring joke that basically anything that enters her home eventually becomes an advertisement. So people also think that's really funny. But at the same time, it's like it seems like it's like her primary way of living is shilling all of these products and she's probably earning a lot of money from it.
1:06:31Yeah. I mean, so many of these influencers, that's that's what they do. I remember our Danny Austin episode and Danny Austin is such a good example of that where like everything is from Amazon and therefore everything becomes an affiliate link and an advertisement.
1:06:48Ali Manno:Right. But that's how they make money. I mean, you can't really, like, hate it. It's just, it is what it is. And unfortunately, it's kind of rooted in misogyny, too, because we always talk about this. Like, women shilling products on the Internet, the hate that we get would never be the same for a man that would be doing the same exact thing. Okay, Paige Lorenz. No. You mean Paige Paul? Paige Paul. Okay, Paige Paul saying no influencers is misogynistic. No, I get that it's annoying for anyone that's, you know, shilling products all the time. It's kind of just like, okay, enough. And another thing is it makes me feel like Allie's followers leans a little bit older because if someone that I were to follow were to post nothing but health and wellness gummies and pre-nuvo scans, I would stop following them or I wouldn't engage with their content.
1:07:35Ali Manno:Right. I think that's the thing is that— It kind of tells you the type of person who follows her. Yeah. Yeah. And I think that absolutely tracks with her because she was on The Bachelor in 2010. And there are not a whole lot of Gen Z kids that I think are following Allie Mano. It is, you know, people that were following her since her Bachelorette days. Yeah, right, right. So it's it probably is leaning like late 30s, early 40s. And it seems like her content probably is for moms like millennial moms um and i think a lot of it could be millennial moms that are conservative that maybe are a bit envious of her life as well there's plenty to be snarked on and yeah she overshares for sure too much but i think also what could come from that snark is just maybe a deep-rooted unconscious jealousy that they don't necessarily have it as easy as she does because she makes it seem like she lives such a luxurious life and that she doesn't really have.
1:08:38Ali Manno:But she's also always complaining. Yeah, exactly. So it's triggering for moms of like, listen, I'm working two times as hard as you. I'm working and I have kids or I'm, you know, I'm a stay at home mom, but I don't have the help that you have. And here you are complaining. I'm going to snark on you because of it. Like that's frustrating for me to watch. So I get it. It's more of like a projection thing as well. It's not all that serious, But I think that she would do well of just maybe not sharing every single moment of her life because it gives all of the payers so much more material for them to hate on her.
1:09:08Like, I'd imagine her snark page is just like daily because she posts every single moment. Yeah, she does. I didn't even realize she has a dedicated snark page until I was just like Googling her. And I'm sure her dedicated snarkers are going to be like, this is what always happens when an influencer has a dedicated snark page and they listen to our episode. They're like, I didn't learn anything new. Not for you. You know everything. It's not for you. You know everything about her. Right. I'm sorry. This episode is not for you. But OK, so I also while I was digging into some of the Reddit posts about her.
1:09:36So remember when Taylor Frankie Paul obviously was going to be the Bachelorette? And she has been in the news quite a bit recently because of the recent season of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. And also it just came out that she has failed multiple drug tests, which is why her custody of her children has been reduced to only a few hours a week. It's been reduced even further. She is an absolute disaster, a mess. And she had this whole thing with the bachelorettes. They had that whole special where they're all wearing their red onesies together. And then the DV video came out where she is throwing a stool at Dakota.
1:10:15And her child gets hit. And her child is heard crying. And it's very disturbing, obviously. And this is when they cancel the season. So Allie spoke out about this. I remember this. Yes. She goes, a lot of you have asked me my opinion on the new Bachelorette Taylor. I saw yesterday there's some allegations about her, but I don't know anything about that. So I'm not going to comment on that. All I can do is share my experience with her. And the absolute truth is that she was absolutely lovely, like truly wonderful. I'll say more later with some examples when I have a chance to sit down later today.
1:10:50And people were upset because they're like, if you don't know what's going on with these serious allegations, this very disturbing video, why are you speaking out defending her? Don't speak. Don't speak about it if you don't know. And then she posts again and she goes, a few people felt triggered by my post this morning saying that Taylor was nothing but lovely to me. And I totally understand that. Truthfully, I hadn't read anything about the allegations against her and still haven't. I simply wanted to comment on what she was like at the reunion special. And honestly, I plan on sharing that even before all any allegations came out, just because I was truly blown away by how humble and kind she was.
1:11:22But I'm very sorry to those that were triggered by that, especially because I don't know what the allegations are. But I do know that she's been pretty open about her mental health struggles. So I hope everyone involved is OK right now, including Taylor. I wouldn't wish ill will on anyone. It's like, why are you talking? Why are you speaking about this if you admit that you have not run up on what is actually going on with her? Right. It leads to nothing. Like, it contributes nothing to the conversation. The conversation at hand is surrounded around her domestic violence against Dakota, his against her, and the child safety.
1:11:53Right. Like, that's what we're talking about. Not that she was – I'm sure she was lovely. That's not being questioned right now. Right. She just doesn't seem – for someone who had such an early – you know, was in the early days of Facebook and was chasing a career, she doesn't seem like the brightest bulb in the shed, the sharpest tool in the shed. And just, I mean, her problem is that she over shares and I think feels comfortable posting pretty much every thought that comes into her mind. When it's like you are, and then she obviously, you know, responds to the backlash, but it's like you wouldn't have the backlash if you didn't, you know, constantly say things that you end up having to put your foot in your mouth about.
1:12:44Ali Manno:right oh my gosh i yeah she's she's just a definition of like someone's mom i would just watch on the internet and be like sending it to my friends like what is someone's mom saying i mean obviously she's not old enough to be my mother but she just kind of reminds me of people's moms on facebook that just like love to talk and you're just like what is she going off about this time yeah yeah and um also just a reminder to not take health or medical advice from influencers influencers. Say it so. Unless they are, you know, ones with medical degrees, because there are, you know, the I mean, even the influencer doctors scare me because why are you a doctor and an influencer?
1:13:23Ali Manno:Like get back, get back into the operating room. Why are you in here on your phone talking to me in your office? Shouldn't you be reviewing patient records and looking at patient history? Right. So, yeah, she does. Also, I'm looking at some of the screenshots of her saying, have you heard of bioidentical hormones? No, Allie. I haven't.
1:13:46No, Ali. I haven't. No. You guys, this was a fun episode. I love going down memory lane.
1:13:57Ali Manno:Talking about the Bachelor franchise gives me so much joy, genuinely, because it's, oh, it was just such a lightning in a bottle moment and reminds me of my adolescence and young adulthood. So I'm curious what you guys think, whether you guys follow Ali Mano. And again, if you guys are an Ali Mano historian or active in her subreddit, we know this was just scratching the surface. This episode isn't for you, but we hope you stick along regardless because we have a lot of other fun episodes across many different celebrities and influencers in our back catalog and to come. But Sophie, what are we talking about on Patreon?
1:14:28Ali Manno:What did we talk about on Patreon yesterday? On Patreon, we talk about the 2014 Sewell Ferry disaster that happened in South Korea. So that is kind of a dark, true crime adjacent episode over on Patreon. So if you're interested in that, the link is in our show notes. Our newsletter goes out every Friday with things we are laughing at or buying and all that fun stuff. Link is also in our show notes. And yeah, let us know who else from Bachelor Nation. There's obviously no shortage of Bachelor Nation influencers, content creators, public figures. We have done a handful, but like there's so many more to do.

1:17:37Wayfair, every style, every home. Mr. President, my company tore me of the explosion on our rig. On October 2nd. Causing massive water displacement and triggering a tsunami. They all heap the blame on me. Tom Cruise is. Digger got us into this mess. And Digger's gonna dig us out. From the director of Birdman and The Revenant. What would happen if I stopped doing it? You stalled. You freeze to death. That's what. With great power comes great deniability. I'm not the first nanny. Digger. See the trailer online. Only in the years October 2nd. Rated R. Under 17. Not a minute without parent. This episode is brought to you by Netflix's new series, East of Eden, a bold reimagining of John Steinbeck's masterpiece following generations of the Trask family through love, betrayal, and the choices that shape humanity.
1:18:24Starring Mike Feist and Christopher Abbott as the Trask brothers, and Florence Pugh as Kathy Ames, the complex anti-heroine determined to build the life she wants, no matter the cost. Watch East of Eden, October 1st, only on Netflix. Fall never arrives all at once. First the air, then the light, and slowly the things you love begin to find each other. A jacket meets a dress, a hoodie slips beneath a blazer, an old cap finds a new scarf. Because you don't simply step into the season, you create it layer by layer until it finally feels like fall. Find fall your way at Ross.
1:19:10Next. And let us know if you've heard about bioidentical hormones. Yeah. Whatever that was. Yeah. Let us know. Okay.
1:19:16Ali Manno:We'll see you guys next time. Bye. Bye.
