In short

The “Snark on Greg Grippo” episode dissects Greg Grippo’s time on Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette, focusing on claims that he used the show for fame/clout, performed for the cameras, and gaslit/manipulated Katie during his night-one limo exit and later breakup.

Guest backgrounds

Christy and Sophie host Snarkbait. Sophie says she didn’t watch Katie’s season but follows Bachelor Nation via social media; she’s familiar with Greg’s online presence and “Grippo Girls.” Christy discusses her research, including speaking with someone from Greg’s real life and referencing her own prior Substack/Twitter commentary.

Key claims

Greg wanted to be famous, trained in acting (William Esper Studio), and allegedly hid/cleaned up evidence of acting aspirations. His “sad boy” persona and curated Instagram are framed as red flags. The episode argues his love confession and abrupt exit were contrived, designed to make Katie doubt herself and to gain sympathy/exposure.

Notable examples

First impression rose; two one-on-one dates; hometowns with a Jersey Shore boardwalk theme; macaroni necklace gift; Katie’s “using me for exposure” accusation; Safe Passage domestic violence shelter calling out Bachelor fandom debates; later girlfriend claims of emotional abuse (via Off the Vine).

0:00I have literally always been obsessed with Ruggable and rave about Ruggable to whoever listens, which is why I was thrilled and shocked when I found out they were going to sponsor the pod. My kitchen runner, foyer runner, outdoor balcony rug, and living room rug are all Ruggable. I'm not exaggerating. Not only do they have the chicest designs for whatever you're looking for, whether your style is boho, modern, classic, the rugs are both stain-resistant and machine-washable. This is key for me as a New Yorker with a dog. You don't even want to know what kind of city sludge he can drag into the house on any given day.

It's truly a game changer. Oh, and the non-slip backing that every single one of the rugs has, also key for having a dog with the zoomies. So they're functional for high traffic homes, yes, but they're also fashionable. I truly take pride in my interior design skills and my guests always compliment my rugs. Thanks, Ruggable. Love ya. I'm Sophie. How are we doing? I am good. It is Thursday, June 4th. It finally feels like summer. Feels like summer.

2:33Feels like summer. The weather has been gorgeous this week. I think we might be going to the Jersey Shore this weekend, depending on the weather, hopefully. Because, of course, every week, 75 sunny and gorgeous. Then on the weekends, 60 and rainy. It better not be on that, I swear to God. We are hoping for good weather this weekend, and then we can have a little beach weekend. But when you guys are listening to this, our New York live show is tomorrow. 3:13I am so excited. I can't believe we are at the last leg, our three-city world tour, LA, New York, Chicago. But yeah, tomorrow is New York. And then if you are in the Chicago area, we are going to be in Chicago at the Rhapsody Theater Sunday, June 14. So it will be fabulous to see you guys. And yeah, we're just, we're buzzing. You know what I mean? And actually, you know, it's kind of fun. We have a bunch of sponsors for our show. but in Chicago, we have Hampton Water sponsoring the show. And I love some good rosé, you know? I know that you don't really drink wine as much, but I do love Hampton Water.

3:50I do love a good rosé. It's refreshing. It's perfect for the summer, speaking of summer weather. So we have some, you know, some goodies for anyone that'll be there. Yeah. Something to look forward to, like the OG summer house. Remember when they were obsessed with rosé? What happened to that? Remember when, what's her name, had that live-side bottle? Christina Gibson.

4:10Christina the time this airs, part three will have already aired. Ooh, yes. I'm ready for this shit to be over, but we probably talked about it two days ago on DET. But without further ado, Sophie, should we get right into this man? Yes. Yes. Okay. So Greg Grippo, you guys, if you don't recognize this name, it's because he's pretty irrelevant. But you know what? If there's one thing about us, we're going to talk about niche Z-list reality stars that no one cares about. Okay. So Greg Grippo was on Katie Thurston's season of The Bachelorette and had a very controversial exit and also had some skeletons come out of his closet.

4:48I actually have spoken to someone from his real life for this episode that I have become friends with over the years. So yeah, I guess let's get into it. First of all, what are your top line thoughts? Did you watched katie thurston season no i stopped watching after the claycia season clara and tasha so it's been about six years since i've watched but i i am familiar with the bachelor nation cast because people like greg that come out of the franchise kind of like a tyler cameron light you hear about them in the zeitgeist i do know that he was a fan favorite i do know katie really liked him i do know that he dated victoria fuller a la pilot peat season who i think is just so gorgeous and stunning and i feel like a lot of people just think he's this cute cute guy and what i will say is a lot of his his reels and instagrams i know he's really active on social media and i think that's also why he's come across my desk despite not watching the season i do think some of his skits are funny but i feel like for a man that is perpetually online posting like that there's just like a you have like a chip in your brain that like wants you to be so thirsty so badly like he is just so thirsty i think and he's just all about the clout, I feel, just based on his Instagram presence.

5:59So I am excited to hear about the lore that is Greg Grippo because I do feel like everything else being said, he has a good edit in general. People like him. So he actually is probably one of the most polarizing figures in Bachelor franchise history. He has a cult following people that love him. They call themselves Grippo Girls. And then they have people like me who see right through him. And I think, Like you said, becoming like the social media influencer and doing these like skits and stuff like that is always what he wanted to do. That's why he was on the show. He always wanted to be famous.

6:35He went to acting school. I think that he is probably living his dream right now by not actually working a real job and just doing like silly skits with his friends, Andrew and Justin, who are also from his season of The Bachelorette. Oh, wow. They have like a little flick from the season that he does the content with. Oh, that's yeah. it's like get a job yeah men used to go to war men used to go to war you know what i will say about the bachelor i and i feel like love is blind is kind of becoming that as well now it's always like the thirstiest men that go on the show that are really not eligible to date at all and i think it was you that brought this up how i think his name was jj who was on the bachelorette oh my god like a decade ago i think he was like on des's season desiree's season but he was like when i was tapped to be on the show i was like 32 no job i was the least eligible person to have been dating the lead of The Bachelorette.

7:24But here I was. And I feel like when people go on The Bachelor, men specifically, it's the thirstiest type of guys. And interestingly enough, Kate Riccio of Riccio Recaps, Front of the Pod. Front of the Pod. Adjacent story, but Jen Tran season. Did you watch? I did not watch Jen season. Do you know what I'm about to say? No, I don't think so. Okay. So I didn't watch it either. But I guess during the end of her season, her ex-boyfriend named Matt came in you know they always say the ex-boyfriend comes in and tries to lure her back in yeah he basically does this big one where he's like you know I was supposed to go to this wedding in Cartagena with you and I actually left those weddings because I wanted to show up here and have my shot my second shot at love with Tila Tequila I wanted to have my second shot at love and she was like Matthew no like why didn't you tell me this before I left turns out this man was closeted and now he is dating TJ from Southern Hospitality or sorry Maybe not dating.

8:18Sorry. He's been spotted with. And now he's openly out of the closet, which love that for him. But he went so far as to show up on Gen Trans season, closeted, telling, you know, confessing his love to her, professing his love. Well, at the same time, really liking men. So I just feel like it just tells me, though, because he just wants to be a social media content creator. That's why I'm bringing this up. Like, he just wanted his shot at being on public or national television so he could become a content creator. It's just thirsty. You're never going to find like a normal man that signs up for reality TV.

8:49Right. And I know we all love like Rob Roush, but like he's also not that normal. I mean, I think he would agree that he's kind of a freak, but we love him for it because he's so hot. But I do feel like Rob Roush, me standing up for my man, I do feel like Rob Roush is kind of a different specimen in that I think that he doesn't really care about clout. I think he genuinely wants to live off of the fame and the money that social media will bring to him so that he can live off the land for the rest of his life. I believe that. I also think, if I'm recalling correctly, he is someone who actually was approached for reality TV.

9:19Meanwhile, people like Greg Grippo have applied for years and years and years and are desperate to get on TV. So I think there's a difference, actually. If you are approached by producers and you're like, sure, why not? Oh, I'm actually listening to Love Trap, the podcast about the baby paternity drama with Clayton Eckerd from The Bachelor. he talks about just getting like a DM. And I'm no Clayton fan, I actually, but listening to this podcast, I obviously feel really bad for him. It was a horrible situation. But he talks about getting just like DM'd by a producer and he was like, okay, sure. Like I'm kind of excited for the opportunity.

9:54This is very like out of my wheelhouse. But then you have people like Greg Grippo and I'm sure many, many, many others that have spent so long applying and desperate to be on TV in order to further their careers and get opportunities. And I think that's something that is interesting about Greg Grippo is that he reminds me a lot of Wes Wilson. Oh, great analogy. I mean, just based on, yeah, I think that's a good analogy. Kind of universally beloved until he kind of, his true color started to show. Well, I think not even like the public perception of them. I think that they are both very, very, very charming fuckboys who love the limelight.

10:33And they treat women as disposable and they will do anything in order to further their careers. And they don't care who they hurt. They don't care, you know, what which women they love bomb and then throw away. They are kind of like the same breed. And we will talk about why. So let's get into it. So Greg Grippo. I'm scrolling up. Oh, this is a long, long. Looks like a high school senior pick. Yeah, so these are his photos from, originally he was supposed to be on the Claycia season. Oh. And then because of COVID and I think the age difference with Claire, he ended up dropping out and then was eventually on Katie's season.

11:14So we have both photos side by side. He was trying to be on the show for a really long time. Moral of the story. So he was born June 5th, 1993. He is 32, actually turns 33 tomorrow. So happy early birthday, Greg Grapeau. I love when it lines up like this. where it's like happy birthday. Yeah, he turned 33 last week. Last week. By the way, it tells me everything I need to know that he's a Gemini. I've never met a Gemini man who wasn't evil and that's just my own personal experience. Don't come for me if you are married to a Gemini man or if you are a Gemini man. I know that there are good ones out there.

11:48I just have not, I've yet to come across one. I don't know if I know any Gemini men. I mean, I probably do. I'm just unaware. And I love Gemini women, for the record. Love Gemini women. It's the Gemini men. Yeah. There's something there's something really wrong with them. Anyway, he is from Edison, New Jersey, originally, and he grew up with three siblings, Samantha, Andrea and Frank and his father, Frank Sr. or Frank Jr. actually his brother, Sprink III, unfortunately died of cancer in 2018. And this was discussed on his first one-on-one with Katie on his season of The Bachelorette. And I think that this was a big reason why he became kind of a fan favorite because he had a very, very, very, I don't want to say like sympathetic.

12:34I don't think that he was like trying to get sympathy. It's really tragic that his father passed away, but it was something that really people felt instantly connected to him when he talked about this. Well, I think that a playbook of Bachelor Nation, whether or not the contestants are doing it for sympathy or not, is that when people hear a tragic story, like I'm a single mom, or I have a parent that's passed, or I went through something tragic, it connects the audience to them. Whether or not they are actually good people or not, they automatically become fan favorites. And it's kind of like the, it's like the halo effect when people say that people that are better looking get privileged, like in work and relationships, all these things.

13:11It's almost like they have this halo effect of tragedy. And so, I don't know. That's something that I would just think of Emily Maynard, for instance, from like way back when in like 2010, 2011. What was Emily Maynard's tragedy again? So she had a child named Ricky who, interestingly enough, when Ricky was on the show, she was like six or whatever. Ricky is now, I think, 18 and she now has her own child. And she's a mom. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So the baby daddy of Ricky was like an F1 race car driver. and he passed away, I think, right before Ricky was born. I don't know if it was like in the race car, but basically, tragically, the father passed away before Ricky was born.

13:50So she was a fan favorite and she became the bachelorette. Yeah, that's very sad. But yeah, I completely agree that it kind of is like a halo effect. He went to Edison High School, then transferred to Rutgers Preparatory School. Then he attended St. Michael's College, where he completed his bachelor's degree in marketing and graduated in 2016. and he played D2 basketball there. So he is tall, unfortunately. He's 6 '3". So I know. It's like so annoying. And he's good looking. I'm sorry. Like, I hate to say it. He is good looking. And I think that's part of the problem is that he's good looking.

14:20He's charming. He's not a good guy, though. So, yeah. So following graduation, he began working as a marketing executive at Melaleuca, the wellness company where his mother also worked. And this is an MLM, for the record. He worked at his mom's MLM. Oh, my God. And this entire time, from what I have heard, he was like, I want to be an actor. So he attended the William Esper Studio Acting School from 2017 to 2019. Even though his ABC bio on the show, which aired in 2021 and I believe was filmed in late 2020. Let me double check this. When was Katie Thurston's season filmed? I want to say late 2020.

15:01No, it was early 2021. Okay. Early 2021. But he was listed as someone who worked in marketing and sales instead of aspiring actor. Interestingly enough. And now, like we mentioned, he does skits on social media. He has a ton of followers. It worked for him. And it's funny, Olivia said that she was obsessed with him. A lot of girls were obsessed with him when his season was airing. He was very different from like the typical Bachelorette contestant. There was something very like approachable about him. Like he was cute, but not in like a supermodel type of way. He seemed like an average guy next door who was kind of like quiet and shy and had this like sad boy persona that people really fell for.

15:44And just girls were obsessed with him. Like I said, he gained this cult following that called themselves Grippo Girls. And Olivia said that she would have her sister like DM him on Instagram being like, date my sister. And then she saw him out in 2024. But that's around the time that she met her boyfriend. And I was like, Olivia, you dodged a bullet. Yeah. Yeah. It's funny that you watched Katie Thurston's season that you were still keeping up with The Bachelor at this time. Yeah. And I kind of like, I feel like that may have been my last season of The Bachelorette, if I am recalling correctly.

16:19Yeah, I'm trying to think who was The Bachelorette. Who was her? Who was The Bachelor after her season? That's what I'm trying to remember. I'm looking on, oh, Katie Thurston, then it was Michelle Young. I did not watch. I stopped after after Katie's season. It was Michelle and then it was Gabby and Rachel didn't watch that season. Then it was Charity and then it was Jen Tran and then Taylor Frankie Paul. Yeah. RIP. I was going to say you're so right about his kind of boyish looks that he's not a Tyler Cameron who's like buff and like a contractor slash model. Yeah. He just is like a boy next door look.

16:50So I can see why the public gravitated towards him a lot. And he's like this New Jersey kid that like I would probably see out at a bar. Yeah. You know, like there's something very just normal about him. Right. You guys already know we're obsessed with Lola blankets and a lot of you thankfully have taken our advice and gotten one for yourselves. And if your pets are anything like Baxter and Hank, they probably curl up into your Lola blanket every time you whip it out. It's that soft and cozy. Literally, Baxter fully takes over both the one on our couch and the one on our bed. It's not fair. Like he doesn't even pay rent and he gets to enjoy our favorite blankets.

17:28So when the geniuses behind the Lola blankets realized pets around the world were stealing their blankets from their parents, they decided it was finally time to create a full collection for pets. Now your pet can have the same level of comfort without stealing yours. Not only do they have amazing blankets for your fur baby, they also have incredibly soft pet beds and pads. As soon as we received our Lola pet bed, Baxter crawled right into it and was immediately obsessed. It was so cute. The Lola Pet Bed is designed with that same signature ultra soft faux fur that Lola Blankets have, but built specifically for your pet with an orthopedic foam base that supports their joints and helps them rest more comfortably.

18:04Plus, it's actually cute and stylish, unlike other pet beds. If there's one refresh worth making this summer, it's your bedding. Trust me. Summer nights always leave me wanting bedding that feels lighter, more breathable, etc., etc. And Quince has been my go-to for so long now. They focus on high-quality materials like European linen and bamboo without the luxury markup. My absolute favorite is their 100 % organic cotton percale sheets duvet cover. The material is so crisp and comfy and even has a cooling effect, which is obviously perfect for those hot summer nights.

20:17I also love the look of it. It's matte, smooth, and just has this classic look that instantly elevates our bedroom. And I love knowing that we're sleeping on 100 % cotton and not some cheap polyester blend. Ugh. You can literally feel the difference. I also love their mulberry silk pillowcases and eye masks. They help keep your hair smooth and skin hydrated overnight because they don't absorb your natural oils like other materials do. This bedding is made for literal beauty sleep, you guys. Quince has everything you need to upgrade your bedding for summer. Lightweight sheets, airy linen shams, seasonal colors and timeless patterns like stripes and soft neutrals.

20:53And in case you need a reminder, everything at Quince is 50 to 80 percent less than similar brands because they work directly with ethical factories and cut out the middleman. So you're paying for quality, not a name brand markup. Elevate your summer bedding. Go to quince.com slash snarkbait for free shipping on your order and 365 day returns. Now available in Canada, too. Quince.com slash snarkbait. so um he was reportedly in the mix with producers for several years before being cast on in the mix before being cast on katie's season and like i said i have it on good authority that he had been applying for quite some time oh my uh he was going to be on claire crowley season like i said but then eventually turned it down due to the age gap and then said yes to katie's season in 2021 and And his night one limo exit on Katie's season, he gave Katie a macaroni necklace his niece made, which again was something that really drew the viewers in.

21:56Manipulative. One word. Manipulative. That is so, I was going to say that's so manipulative and contrived and thoughtfully played. Oh, not only, you know, I love little kids. You know, my niece, I love my family so much. And here's a macaroni necklace my niece made. Give me a break. Give me a fucking break. I would actually see right through that. I would hope. Well, knowing me, I would look at his good looks and be like, oh my God, never mind. This is so cute. I would fold immediately. Right, right. But just reading this on the paper, give me a break. That would actually make me less inclined to choose you because it feels so contrived.

22:31Yeah, it contrived. Exactly. So some of what I'm reading is actually from a substack that I wrote about Greg a few years ago. I love citing myself. So this is me citing myself. He got the first. That's just me being well. Me. So he got Katie's first impression rose. And historically, when it comes to seasons of The Bachelorette, means you definitely are going to be F1. So this is the list of first impression rose recipients over the years that I ended up citing in my sub stack. Nate, who was Michelle Young's future fiance, Dale Moss on Claire's season, Garrett on Becca Kufrin's season, Brian on Rachel Lindsay's season.

23:13Oh, and this was when they were still together, I wrote, who just celebrated their third wedding anniversary, RIP. Jordan Rogers on JoJo Fletcher's season, Sean Booth on Caitlin Bristow's season. And I think with women, like, you kind of, like, know right away. And I hear of people, like, also, like, say, you know, I had to give my husband a few dates in order for the chemistry to grow. And so there are exceptions to this, but I feel like for the most part, like, women just, like, know right away whether they're attracted or into someone or whether there's chemistry there. Okay, I completely agree.

23:45And this reminds me, I know you're not watching Love Island, but the first episode of season eight, Love Island USA just aired and part of the first episode is them having to kiss everyone and they're like swapping saliva, like more than one. It's actually really disgusting. This is why I can't watch Love Island. I get grossed out. No, it genuinely is disgusting. Like I almost was, I was physically cringing and I had to turn away from the TV. But the reason I'm bringing this up is because I cannot help but think if I were on the show, which I would never be able kill my self-confidence. But if I were on the show, the thought of having to lock lips with a man that I was physically unattracted to, I physically could not bring myself to do it.

24:23And I was thinking, there are five men and five women at the beginning of the show. The probability of you being attracted to all five of them, all different heights, races, personality, there is no way you would be attracted to all five of them and have a willingness to make out with them. And they have to swap saliva like six different times. Like, it's disgusting. And this is exactly why I could never be the bachelorette. I feel like when you are the lead on the show, you have to like give everyone a chance. You have to, you know, men will come in for the kiss and you got to be receptive to it.

24:54I would not be able to like hide my itch. Oh my God. Absolutely not. No, no, no. It would be shown on my face point blank. Yeah. Yeah. I'd be like, ugh. Yeah. Gross. My body would clench. Yeah. And Katie definitely liked that he was kind of like this shy guy that was a little but introverted and didn't seem like he was trying to play cool. He was like the shy guy. And I think she was really into that because he was kind of making her chase him in a way. Sorry, so I'm looking at this photo that you posted from your Twitter. Yeah. Iconic. So he was the only man to get two one-on-one dates. And I tweeted, this was Greg's face when he got the second one-on-one.

Read the full transcript

25:32He never wanted to be like Katie's f1 he was there for the fame his face he looks fucking miserable and he has this like sad boy persona but like he actually looked miserable i don't think he was ever into katie i think he was there purely for the fame and the clout and meanwhile katie was falling in love with him she told the cameras um and he made it to hometowns the final three with justin glaze who is one of his like skit partners now and blake moines who ends up being katie's f1 even though they are no longer together. So they did Hometowns because this was like during COVID. It was early 2021.

26:11Hometowns were recreated at the resort where they filmed. And Greg did a little Jersey Shore boardwalk theme. Like, again, like I would probably fall for that. You're speaking my love language. Jersey Shore? Come on. So in individual conversations with family members, Greg said, it's going to be me and her. And they were talking about like the logistics of moving and life post-show. And even Katie confided to his mom that he was a frontrunner. It was very obvious that Greg was the frontrunner. It was like, Greg is going to win. Katie is not looking at anyone else the way that she's looking at Greg.

26:44And also, compared to the other two that were in the final three, I think he was the hottest. He was. I mean, Justin's cute. I don't think Blake is cute at all. Sorry, that's just my opinion. Justin's cute, but Greg, you could tell, was just the runaway favorite. From the beginning, he got the first impression route, and everything went well, seemingly, because he's an actor yeah i mean he's a trained actor literally so yeah literally so um then everything turned so after the date greg told katie that he loved her and katie had made a private vow at the start of the season not to say i love you to anyone until the very end so instead of saying it back she kind of spoke in code she said i love looking at you um like and this didn't land well with greg his face dropped uh he goes i just don't understand how you don't know at this point i really don't He also admitted to losing his shit.

27:33And he basically, he said that he was falling in love with her and was the happiest he's ever been. And then she didn't give him the exact answer he wanted, although she had given him plenty of reassurance throughout the season. Like, it was very obvious that he was the frontrunner. But then he started to gaslight her and make her question her experience of the conversation. He said things like, I don't give a fuck about the rose. I was just telling you that you filled a hole in my heart. And she was like, you've always been my number one from the very beginning. And then he walked out without saying goodbye.

28:04And she was sobbing on the floor, crying, confused. Variety wrote at the time, as she tried to navigate Greg's growing frustration and anger, she was increasingly emotional. She replayed the conversation that provoked the outburst and apologized for the reaction, but seemed confused by his disproportional response. Despite multiple attempts to get him to reconsider the relationship, Greg left in a huff, which caused Katie to have her own breakdown, locking herself in the bathroom, sobbing. Wait, this is crazy. So the entire time he's literally acting, pretending like he likes her, he makes this manipulative attempt to tell her that he loves her, clearly not meaning it.

28:38And then when she doesn't respond because she made a vow to herself to not say it to any of the men and not pull a Ben Higgins, he bursts out. You're right. That is actually insane. I need to watch a clip of this. I need to watch this. You do. This was textbook gaslighting to me. This is when I, and I throughout the season was like, yeah, Greg, oh my God. Like I liked him along with everyone else during the season. And then when I saw this, I was like, it's very obvious that this is, he's gaslighting her. There's nothing she could have said or done differently to change the outcome of what happened.

29:08Like you are not actually in love with someone if you leave them like that crying on the floor. He was going to do this all along. He was going to leave at some point, but he wanted to make it look like it was her fault so he couldn't get the good at it. of course. Like, oh, I'm just brokenhearted because I confess my love to her and how dare she not say it back and I'm going to get the sympathy. It's so manipulative. Yeah. And this is what I wrote in my sub stack, again, citing myself. He was making her question reality and doubt her own sanity. If he was genuinely in love and can see forever with her, which is what he said, why would that suddenly change so quickly?

29:41Why, if he genuinely truly loved her, would he leave her crying and begging on her knees for him to stay? Because as far as I'm concerned, He didn't. He was simply looking for an out. He was pretending, acting, if you will. Remember, he went to acting school, William Esper acting school, and it also tried out for two prior seasons of The Bachelorette. And for some reason, this became a very, very, very controversial situation where the internet was absolutely divided because there are people like me that are like, this is gaslighting. gaslighting. It's very obvious that he is trying to make her feel insane and also trying to make himself look good so he can get a good edit and become The Bachelor because that was his plan all along.

30:19He did not want to end up with Katie. Right. And everyone's like, oh my God, he's so sweet. He's so genuine. Like all of the Grippo girls. I'm sorry. Look at his Instagram at the time. Shirtless pictures. Like he's such a fuck boy. Selfies. Like it's so obvious. I'm sorry. A man that curates his Instagram like so is a red flag. Men should not care about their Instagram. No. Genuinely. Sorry if that's heteronormative, whatever. Men should stop caring so much. That's a girl space, okay? That's why male influencers, just in general, and this is, Greg falls into that category, dark energy. It is. Because why are you as a man in it, sir?

30:58Yes. This is a women-run space. Get out. Yeah, no, genuinely. And it just is, it's so clear that it's for clout and for more girls to slide into their DMs. It's just, it's really, really slimy to me. Yeah. There's like, unless, unless you're men doing, I think genuinely funny skits that aren't there. So you're not showing off your abs. Like if you're trying to be funny on Instagram, that's one thing. Like comedian. But even then. Oh my God, no, there's this one guy on TikTok. His name is Sean Shoot. I am obsessed with him. He always has TikToks of like point of view, like you're at the club and the guy tries to take you home or something.

31:35And I don't know. I really enjoy like him. But other than that, thirsty guys like this get away. I know. So the Internet was obviously exploding with hot takes during the saga. Like survivors of gaslighting and narcissistic abuse immediately recognized the signs that this was narcissistic abuse and gaslighting. While others, again, were insisting that Greg is like this genuine sweet angel because he has nieces. He has nieces. Okay. I'm trying to think of a guy on reality television that I would have fallen for similar to this. Like, oh, he comes from a good family. Therefore, he is good. Like, oh, he has nieces.

32:09Therefore, he has sisters. Therefore, he is good. Oh, he was raised by a single mother. Therefore, he is good. Well, Wes tried. Wes was like, oh, my God, his mom. Like, everyone was like, his mom's an OBGYN. Like, he's an ally. He's this liberal guy. It was all a fucking fart. Yeah. It was all to portray a certain image to the audience. It was all curated. Yes. So even a domestic violence shelter at the time, and again, the internet was super, super divided. This was like the most polarizing. I actually had to like quit the Bachelor subreddit at this time because it was so overrun with Grippo Girls defending him.

32:42So a domestic violence shelter even called him out, which I thought, hey, this is a domestic violence shelter. So Emma Gray, who I believe is like in the Bachelor world as a podcaster, tweeted kind of defending Love to See It, I think is her podcast. And here to make friends also. So she tweeted kind of defending Greg. As a lot of people are doing. I'm not trying to like call her out. But Safe Passage, which is a domestic violence shelter, quote tweeted her because she said, I feel really icky the way swaths of Bachelor Nation rush to pick sides and introduce who is bad and who is good. Sometimes people are just people.

33:17And it's like, no, it's very clear that he is bad. And this domestic violence shelter quote tweeted her and said, fair, but we are also allowed to point out when actions are objectively hurtful or unhealthy. There are too many young people out here watching shows like this to figure out what to expect in relationships. We need to talk about it. And then someone named Sarah quote tweeted this and said, when a DV shelter tells you that certain behavior is inappropriate and shouldn't be normalized, you should listen, which I think is absolutely correct. And so what's also interesting is that during this time and during this big Bachelor Nation debate, again, we were divided.

33:49This is when I was part of Bachelor Nation. I no longer have a membership card to that anymore. But at the time I was. And again, we were divided. Yeah. Skeletons began to pour out of the closet. Fuck yeah. I love when this shit happens on my reality TV screens. So, Demois, for instance. My best friend dated a fan favorite contestant in The Bachelor very seriously for a year and a half, and he was awful to her. The sweet, shy boy act is exactly that, an act. He really is actually an actor. I've witnessed him throw a fit and call her a terrible name for wearing a mini dress, so I can only imagine what happened behind closed doors.

34:22Blah, blah, blah. Another Demois submission said, ABC stopped casting clout chasers. Greg Grippo is a manipulative liar and actor on Katie's season of The Bachelorette. He cleaned up his social media slash LinkedIn and removed all evidence of his aspiring acting career over the past few years. That also was what was shady. He, not only did they say he was in sales and marketing, you know, in his little shyron on The Bachelorette, but he deleted all evidence that he went to an acting school. So it was like a conscious thing to do to make sure I got away the entire internet of my desire to be famous.

34:54Yes, exactly. This submission says,

35:24and just completely ignore her, et cetera, et cetera. Comments on TikTok. In college, he dated both my friends at the same time and completely played them. He's a toxic snake. Friend of mine went to college with him and said he cheated on his previous girlfriend a lot. I know Greg's ex infirmed he was incredibly manipulative, gaslighty, and verbally abusive, but the charm and sad boy act is super compelling, so that's what creates the vicious toxic cycle. More TikTok comments. And again, it's like, the Grippo girls are like, anyone could write this. And it's like, what's more likely? That there is some, like, smear campaign against this random bachelorette contestant or that this guy is actually bad right and i was going to see him be bad correct and i was going to say that it's one thing yeah people can write anything on the internet and one maybe one account two accounts this is so many people coming out of the woodwork across different platforms i i don't know it's and it's like coming from real accounts these tiktok people they're not like user 57825 yeah they're real people Yeah.

36:20Yeah. This person goes, and she has her real face and name on her TikTok account. She goes, as someone who used to date Greg, he is an actor. Other people on TikTok, he's acting. My friend's sister knows him and he was emotionally abusive to his last girlfriend. He's an actor, a great actor, as it turns out. He dated one of my best friends and was an awful, emotionally abusive boyfriend. It's so difficult to watch this act continue and everyone buy it. So again, just so many anecdotes of people knowing that he was abusive. I was going to say, I was on my phone because I was trying to figure out what podcast interview I came across a couple months ago, and it was not Victoria Fuller.

36:53It was someone else, perhaps in Bachelor Nation, maybe in the reality TV sphere, and everything that you're reading, and I'm sorry, I can't pull it up, and I don't remember who this woman was, but basically everything you're writing about emotionally abusive, it was all roses, butterflies, rainbows, until they actually became official, and she said, quote, he was emotionally and verbally abusive to me. Yeah, we're going to talk about the stages of narcissistic abuse in just a second, but there is like the love bobbing aspect to it where they draw them in. And there were thankfully a few sane people on the Bachelor subreddit.

37:27They were downvoted to hell. If you talk shit about Greg Grippo, you were down. It was like a Swifty level fandom at the time. Really scary. And it was disturbing because it was like, this is this abusive guy who multiple women are coming out and saying was abusive. And you're just going to fucking like support this guy. Yeah. And pick me, choose me, love me on The Bachelor subreddit said, I find it interesting how all these stories have come out about Greg. Women have put their actual faces to these stories and people still don't believe them. When the girl came forward with her story about Easy, and that was another Bachelorette contestant that was accused of abuse, and put her name to it, did we question if she was genuine?

38:03No, we didn't. Why is this not the same? Because Easy did something worse? Because Greg is the cute white boy? Women who Greg himself follows put their faces to these stories. Why are we doubting them? Yeah. And I think that, do you recall what EZ's story was or what the - I want to say that it was like physical. I actually don't remember, but it was not good. Yeah. And I was going to say, it's harder sometimes when women come out to say, oh, I was verbally abused. I was emotionally abused because there's not physical scars to show people. This is the pain that I've endured. With physical abuse, it's people are more, I think, lenient on, or excuse me, sorry.

38:40He was accused of sexual assault. Yeah. So I just feel like sometimes with emotional abuse, people are less likely to really hear these victims because, well, where are the scars to prove it? Or when you don't say physical or sexual abuse and all abuse is abuse, period. But it's harder for these women because it's like, I can't prove it to you. I don't have photos of the abuse. He didn't punch me in the eye or whatever it is. But they're like less likely to be believed. It just it sucks because these women are coming out with real stories and like you said, real faces. And then that's even more frustrating for people to not want to believe them.

39:12It's like, I'm coming out here, like, so vulnerable. And you're just saying my experience is not my experience. Yeah. It's really hard. It's really awful. And it's women themselves in the Bachelor fandom that are not believing these other women. Right. A friend close to Greg spoke to the son at the time, claiming Greg is a schemer who leaves girls either heartbroken and questioning themselves or both. The source went on to say Greg has been told how wonderful and good looking he is all his life and has no problem using it to his advantage. He gets away with bad behavior, the source said. According to the same source, people who know Greg back home are equally shocked and appalled at how different he's coming off on the show.

39:48And I hold on. Let me decide where I want to jump to next. Basically, the day after the episode aired, Katie posted us. So you want to talk about gaslighting graphic to Instagram? and people are like, oh my God, how dare Katie accuse him of gaslighting? And I'm like, well, she has every right to accuse him of gaslighting because that's what he was doing. And on after the final rose, she, you know, spoke to him and said, I validated you constantly. You got two one-on-one dates. No one else did. You got the first impression, Rose. And then she famously accused him of using the show for exposure.

40:22Wow, I'm glad she called him out on it. Yeah. That's great. She goes, the way you used me to get the experience, the exposure, dare I say, the acting practice at my expense. It was pretty good until the end when you kind of fucked it up and ran away. And Greg clapped back famously and said, listen, I hate to break it to you. As much as I wish I was, I'm no Meryl Streep. Yeah. And well, that's a really great response on his part. I mean, it's really convenient for him to have to just respond directly to the acting allegations, but not being able to take accountable for his actual emotionally manipulative behavior.

40:51That's such an easy response. It's an easy cop out. Yeah. No one's saying that you are Meryl Streep. No one's saying that you're the actor of a generation. What we're saying is you were using your acting techniques and whatever you learned to apply to the show to get more exposure. Yeah. And it's funny because there has been Greg discourse recently, as recently as two months ago on the Bachelor subreddit. And by the way, I have PTSD from the Grippo Girls era on the Bachelor subreddit. I literally, like I said, had to leave the subreddit. But it seems like people are turning because one of his most recent girlfriends went on the, what's Caitlin Bristow's podcast called?

41:22Off the Vine, went on the Off the Vine podcast and shared her experience. Sorry, that's what I was referring to. What's her name? Sophia Beverly. Yeah, it was the Off the Vine podcast where I saw the clip where she was like, he was emotionally abusive to me. Yeah, exactly. And so people were talking about Greg again. And AbsoFruitly88 on Reddit said, I'm glad that other people are talking about the Katie moment. It was so freaking over the top. He was heartless towards her. No, he wasn't Meryl Streep because that was all him in his psycho glory. Like it literally that was all him in his cycle of glory.

41:54It's like perfectly put. Yeah, it wasn't acting, sweetheart. That was his real life. That's exactly how he operates. You're no angel either, sweetheart. Yeah. And Katie clarified to Caitlin Bristow, speaking of Caitlin Bristow, that after she heard he went to acting school, she felt like he was performing for her. Really colored the way that she viewed her experience with him. And he has always maintained he was never a working actor. He said, I've never been on an audition in my life. and that acting class was just something you did to climb out of a depressing job. Please. I'm sorry. Everyone, all of us in America who work for corporate America, we can be a complete, like, yeah, it's depressing sometimes.

42:29Never once in my life have I said, you know, I want to climb out of my depressing job. Maybe I should take an acting class. That would really get me out of my funk. You don't go to acting class unless you're interested in becoming an actor. Unless you want to be an actor. What are you talking about? It's one thing to be like, oh, I want to take a ceramic class or I want to take a pot. You know what I mean? Acting class is so specific. No one does that just to get out of a depressing job. Yep. Sorry. I know. Exactly. And so then he went on the bio files the day after the final rose. Of course he did.

42:56And he said he came off angry like a child who was very immature. He said he was ashamed of how he acted. I rejected a lot onto Katie. It was my own fears, my own insecurities, my own sadness. And tied it to his unprocessed grief over his father. He admitted the relationship wasn't the healthiest because he was depending on her for happiness, and that wasn't fair to her. And it seemed like he was saying exactly, like he knew what people were saying about him online. And he was saying exactly what he thought they wanted to hear. And his answers were almost like too perfect. He didn't break. Exactly.

43:25It's like so Wes Wilson coded. Yeah, I was going to say, oh, so you're gaslighting, Katie, is a result of your unprocessed grief. There are plenty of people that go through traumatic events and that go through the death of a parent that aren't gaslighting and manipulative. Yeah, exactly. Shut up. So after his exit slash season, I was tweeting about how much of a gaslighter he was. Again, I was one of those people who saw right through him. Okay. Just saying. I'm rarely, rarely wrong. And I've never, let's actually rephrase that. I'm never wrong. I'm just late. Or I'm just early, I mean. I'm just early.

43:58Yeah. I couldn't even use the phrase right. I think that's the phrase. I'm never wrong just early. Okay. Yeah. I was early with Greg Grupo. I was early with Wes Wilson. I can see right through these fucking men. Yeah. The TikTok I came across, actually, a user tagged me in it. And it was like, I hate being early to judging people because you're always like the mean person that's like so judgmental and mean. But then everyone comes around. It's like that's literally you with Wes Wilson and Greg Griffo. No, literally. Literally. Like no one believed me. No one believed me. Including me about Wes Wilson.

44:31Remember when I said I would queen out with Wes? I know. And that's why when I say that I have really, really, really good gut instincts about people and I can read people really well, I mean it. Like, I rarely fall for a bullshitter. Yeah. I can spot a bullshitter from a mile away. And that's just what I don't have many skills in life. I'm not good at much. I'm good at that. Okay? I don't have many skills in life. I don't. So I can brag about that because it's like, what else do I have? Just let me have this. No, and honestly, you have the receipts to prove it. I'm looking at these timestamps of your sub stack and your Twitter.

45:03You were there from the very beginning in 2021. Yeah, 2021. Five years ago. It was five years ago. It's crazy. So his, when I was tweeting about this and posting about this, I was like, guys, I feel insane. Like, why are people defending? People were defending him. I just could not believe it. And I was so pissed off at the way that we were witnessing gaslighting and narcissistic abuse on our TVs. And there were so many women defending him. And I was just fucking pissed. So I was like tweeting about it, posting about it. And eventually his ex-girlfriend reached out to me, and she is someone that I've stayed in contact with for the past five years.

45:37So I spoke to her before this recording. I spoke to her earlier this week and wanted to get some of her quotes and feelings about Greg directly, like a firsthand source. And she lays out the stages of narcissistic abuse that she experienced with Greg. So idolization. She said at first he was adorable and endearing. He seemed kind, family-oriented, soft, total catch. He pursued me intensely and very quickly. There was immediate talk of marriage, of me being the perfect girl, and he quickly intertwined me with his family. I was on cloud nine. She said that she started to notice controlling behavior, but she mistook it for reassurance that he was deeply invested in her.

46:19And it was very love-bombing. And then devaluation is the next stage. She said that he started making jabs. He criticized her clothes, her friends, the photos she posted. He called her a slut if her dress was short, called her fucking pathetic if she posted bikini pictures from a bachelorette party. He cycled so consistently between love bombing and devaluing her. It was easy to forgive him whenever he apologized. Then she was there for him when, unfortunately, his father was diagnosed with cancer. And it was really traumatic. And she was very intertwined in the family at the time. And she was constantly supporting him.

46:55But then he would get mad when she, you know, she was like, my friends invited me on a trip to Miami. And I was 22, 23 years old at the time. He was outraged. that I would abandon him and insisted the only reason I wanted to go was to meet other guys. She says she experienced verbal abuse, emotional withdrawal. And from that point forward, the verbal abuse accusations and emotional withdrawal only intensified. And she would start to feel guilty for wanting to participate in anything other than his life. And she said that it seemed to run in the family or it seemed to be something that he was used to doing because he openly screamed at and cursed at family members, according to her.

47:36She once heard him call his own grandmother a cunt. He would yell at her and just emotionally abuse her. And she said she became a shell of herself. And she said he desperately wanted to be famous, which we can tell now. He has since been quoted in an interview saying, I was 24, had zero interest in getting engaged on TV. I emailed back like hard pass. And what he consistently leaves out is that at the time he was in a serious nearly two-year relationship with someone who was showing up every single day for him and his family. He called her weak, pathetic, crazy, similar to the way he described a lot of his exes.

48:11And just the stress became overwhelming. And then the discard stage, he said when they broke up, he screamed directly in her face, forced her to order an Uber from New Jersey back to Hoboken at around 1 a.m. She says she vividly remembers him shoving me towards the stairs and yelling at me to get the fuck out. And that was not the first time he was physical. He had thrown things at me before. He told me he deserved better. And she was really young at this time. She was like so confused and felt obviously discarded. And then the next stage is hoovering where they try to suck you back in. And Greg, I guess, reached out about wanting to get back together.

48:51And she was 24 at the time. And eight months later in March 2020, and he ended up discarding her again. He kind of just abruptly left her again. And then eight months later, in March 2020, he was announced as a contestant on Claire Crawley's season of The Bachelorette. Because of COVID, that season's original cast ultimately changed, and he later appeared on Katie's season instead. And after the show aired, she connected with Katie to share her experience and reassure her that she was not crazy or wrong. And they ended up forming a relationship, Katie Thurston and his ex-girlfriend. What I saw in my relationship with Greg was a consistent pattern of gaslighting, manipulation, emotional abuse.

49:26And the bachelor producers were vetting him to become the bachelor. And so they ended up reaching out to his ex-girlfriends. And this is when Greg had finally reached out to her to apologize for his behavior years later. So he knew because the bachelor producers were going to be vetting his behavior via his ex-girlfriends that he finally apologized to her. He reached out to her. He called her. He texted her for the first time in years. She says she didn't respond. And she called back the Bachelor producers with a lawyer and chronicled all of the above, all of the abusive behavior. And that is when they secured Clayton Eckert as The Bachelor.

50:05And because I was in touch with his ex-girlfriend, I also spoke with Bachelor producers. Dude, you have so much lore. Like, what the hell do you mean you talked with Bachelor producers? I did. And I told them, you cannot cast this man as The Bachelor. He is a scary gaslighter. ass lighter. Wait, as you were reading all of his ex-girlfriend's chronicles of her experience with him, I was also reading kind of like all other stuff you didn't mention. I like chilled. Yeah, there's a lot. I didn't read all of it, but like there is. Yeah, like there's a lot more that he is a read. He is a bad guy. Like I try to just do the top line stuff, but there's a lot more like he is a really, really, really bad guy.

50:40So again, because I became friendly with Zucks, I like I said, spoke to The Bachelor producers and I was like, you cannot cast this guy. He was the front runner at the time. Like, he was going to be The Bachelor. Yeah. And the way that the family dynamics, you didn't mention this part, but it sounds like his ex-girlfriend was at his mom's house, and he had asked his ex-girlfriend to heat up something in the oven, and she had turned on the oven unknowingly, not knowing there was a pizza box in there, and the box had briefly caught fire, and he completely, like, raged at her in front of the entire family, and the family stayed silent.

51:12Like, it's just Greg being Greg. Yep. And that's a very emotionally... Screaming at her. And they're like, okay, like who calls their grandmother a cunt? I mean, that's. And by the way, allegedly, allegedly, but I obviously, this is a firsthand source who I know for a fact has dated him. Dated him. Yeah. Yeah. Like I trust this person, but just for legal reasons, this is alleged. There also was discussion, again, like his name was brought up recently in the Bachelor subreddit because of the Sophia Beverly relationship. Someone says, I have a mutual friend, and this is ACR71987 on Reddit. I have a mutual friend who worked at one of the trade publications back in 2021.

51:54That publication got word that he was the top choice for Bachelor. It was working on a story about his portrayal on Katie's season and viewer reaction and conducted interviews with a few of his exes and their friends about the allegations slash their negative experiences with him. They requested a comment from ABC, and then a few days later, this mutual friend saw on Chicks in the Office that producers were now enamored with Clayton on Michelle's season and just couldn't pass up making him The Bachelor. I've repeatedly said that Greg is not a viable option for The Bachelor. ABC knows about the allegations, and they know that multiple women were willing to talk about them with a reputable publication.

52:26and unlike Taylor Frankie Paul, Greg is smart enough to know that he's lucky these allegations never became super public and lay low and collect easy checks for his influence and content. So it actually became a smarter move for him in the long run to not become The Bachelor because all of these accusations would come out. Would have surfaced. Yeah. Yeah, and he's not even, this is actually very concerning because I find myself to be pretty knowledgeable about his eye guys. I didn't know all this. Like, I just thought he was a beloved fan favorite. it so it's very concerning to me that i didn't know about this he's a terrifying person it's not well known in the public sphere and especially after so many accounts of him being terrifying and scary i'm trying to think of other contestants i think of that guy leo that had like a sexual assault allegation against him oh with the hair the hair he had like a big like yeah he had a lot of hair yeah yeah and like that's the person that comes to mind immediately but i'm trying to think of other people obviously nick vile but he is very polarizing this i don't know yeah i didn't know that people didn't like him and that's very scary yeah and again i think that if all had gone to plan for him he would have become the bachelor but i think ultimately he was smart enough like this person said to realize that that would just bring everything to the service now he can just coast and be this kind of like z-list x reality star that people follow for like funny skits on social media instead of his actual dirty laundry and all of these skeletons really coming out other than just on our little podcast, you know, like we're not the New York Times, unfortunately.

54:01So let's talk about his after the show relationships. So he, like I said, has had for so long now brand partnerships. He does these skits. He's just does this influencing thing. And it's so frustrating every time I see him do a brand partnership. It makes me want to swear off that brand because I'm like, if only you fucking knew. And honestly, like it's not that hard to find these accusations offline. Like I said, I had written a sub stack about this years ago, plenty of Reddit threads. I have a million screenshots on here of comments and Reddit threads and DeMauw submissions and all these things about how bad of a guy he is.

54:36But again, it's never been really put out there by like the New York Times or like Vanity Fair or whoever the fuck it is um so after the show he briefly dated a model named clemence lopez and she is a an influencer named clem de la creme i think is her handle on instagram and then he dated victoria fuller and like you said victoria fuller beautiful girl beautiful girl she was the it girl from pilot pete season and was on bachelor paradise also polarizing though yes very polarizing yeah she She was on Bachelor in Paradise, which was airing while her relationship with Greg went public. And this was very controversial at the time.

55:14Were you watching the season of Bachelor in Paradise? No, I had no idea she had even gotten engaged. Like, I totally just fell over my head. This was super controversial because she was spotted in Italy with Greg while her season was airing. And she got engaged on the beach to Johnny DeFilippo on Bachelor in Paradise. And BIP obviously films months before it airs. So at that point, they were broken up. But you're not supposed to be seen with a new person because then you're spoiling the season for the viewers. And her engagement to Johnny, by her account, had fallen apart quickly. And they split a few weeks after filming.

55:50And then she had connected with Greg. And there are some rumors that her and Greg had actually been talking before the season. Yeah. And Nick Vile also. There was like a lot. They were spotted in Italy. There was all this speculation. Then Nick Vile posted a TikTok of Victoria kissing Greg on the cheek. They were all hanging out. It's like, Nick, you're 40 years old. Why are you hanging out with 20-somethings? No, it's... All he does is hang out with 20-somethings. Yeah, it's that Taylor Swift lyric. It's like, the girls keep getting younger. Yeah, I don't know. You're married with a child. Stop hanging out with 25-year-olds.

56:19Yeah. Comedian Dave Neal claimed sources said Victoria had cheated, actually cheated on Johnny with Greg. She was still engaged to Johnny when she started hooking up with Greg. And Johnny said he had suspicions and didn't fully believe her denials. framing it at the very least as emotional cheating, which Victoria denied. And Greg and Victoria went on the bio files together and explained the timeline that they were just friends until after Paradise and that nothing had ever happened before Italy and that the trip had changed everything. Who goes to Italy with someone they haven't hooked up with yet?

56:51Like on a romantic trip, right? Like that's a little weird. And he actually got invited to be on the After the Final Rose. or not after the final rose, it was the Bachelor in Paradise reunion. So even though Greg wasn't on that season of Bachelor in Paradise, he was asked to go on with Victoria because they were openly together at the time and they had matching chow tattoos that they got in Italy. Oh yeah, I remember that. They're both so psychotic, honestly. Apparently they talked very openly about marriage and kids. They did long distance for a bit and then it seems like he moved to Nashville with her because she already lived in Nashville and at a house there.

57:31And he, because he, you know, is kind of a bum who, you know, doesn't want to work a real job, doesn't have a ton of capital himself other than, you know, influencing money here and there, obviously moved into his very successful girlfriend's police house in Nashville. And they would post so many brand partnerships together and did a lot of like content together and seemed to be really in love. But then they eventually broke up in April 2024. for. And Greg confirmed it on Jason Tardik's Trading Secrets podcast. He said, it's sad to be honest. I just want to respect her. She's amazing. I know she's going to continue to do amazing things.

58:05And Victoria also confirmed on her Instagram saying she wished him nothing but the best. And I actually think with Greg, I'm just thinking about like the Bachelor in Paradise thing because for so long people were like, we want Greg back on the franchise, whether it's Bachelor in Paradise or The Bachelor. Like if it weren't for these accusations, he unfortunately would have been an amazing bachelor franchise stalwart whether it's lead bachelor in paradise because he is so good looking and so charming like girls would actually fawn over him and that is what i have said has always been the downfall of the bachelor franchise is they miscalculate how attractive to the opposite sex their lead is they're like here's this guy who's who's you know it's tall no i i just think of clayton and who's the other guy um is that the one who looks like Zach Shalcross.

58:52Oh my God. Wait, he does look like Perez Hilton. I'm sorry. Like, I will, I will say that he is still together. I actually watched this season randomly. He is still, I know I would like, why do I watch this random season? Like they had three viewers genuinely. I was one of three and he actually is still with his F1. Oh, give me whatever. He's weird. I don't know. He's the perfect example of someone that I'm like, Like, I'm sorry, like, and nothing against him. Like, he seems like a really, like, we're talking about, like, a really, really, really bad guy during this episode. Zach Chalcress, good guy.

59:26Just not, like, he doesn't have, he unfortunately doesn't have the model good looks that someone like Greg Grippo has. Yeah, I'm sorry, but he does look like a red bull. And so when I watch those seasons with a lead like that, I'm just like, there's no way that these girls are all, like, there's no way that 30 women are all in love with him or falling in love with him. Like, there's just no way. But with someone like Greg or someone like Tyler Cameron or whoever it is, it's actually believable. Like, if Rob Roush was the lead, it'd be like, yeah, it's actually believable that 30 girls would be fighting over this person.

59:58I mean, every girl on the planet Earth would be fighting over Rob Roush if given the opportunity. Yeah, exactly. That is believable. And unfortunately, with Greg Grippo, like, it would have been believable. Like, even after all of these accusations came out, he still had thousands of women on the Internet fawning over him. Right. Dying that you watch Zach Shellacross. I know. Like, why? Why did I watch that? Literally no one. But we were talking about, I think it was on our Juliana Rancic Patreon episode, we were talking about how, like, what was the downfall of the Bachelor franchise? And we talked about, like, Chris Harrison leaving when he was, like, the face of the franchise.

1:00:33That may have played a part, even though I think that Jesse, what's his, Jesse Palmer does a really good job. I think the downfall was them miscasting leads. Yeah, I'm trying to think. Matt James was my last season and my God, was me after one episode? I'm like, my God, was he boring? I literally could not watch it. Boring. Hot, but boring. I was like, this is too much. Like, this is too much. Yeah. I'm tapping out. Like, they kept picking guys that were not only not someone that 30 girls would fight over, but also lacked like onscreen charisma. Yeah, you know, absolutely. I think Matt James was one of them.

1:01:04Handsome, handsome guy, tall. So hot. I watched his season and enjoyed his season. But I think that, yeah, he definitely was like a boring, like he would do like prayer circles with the girls. That's right. I was like, I really just don't. Yeah, it felt like very like, you know, Christian propaganda. Yes. I unfortunately have had very bad shaving experiences from red bumps and ingrown hairs to cuts and razor burn. But just because I'm a hairy Jewish girl does not mean I have to settle for a horrible shaving experience. And as soon as I discovered Flamingo, I realized I don't have to suffer any longer.

1:01:39Seriously, I've been a fan of Flamingo since before they became a podcast sponsor. With Flamingo, my leg shaping experience is smooth, gentle, and luxurious, not bumpy, rough, and painful. Also, the shave is so close. I used to immediately feel stubble after getting out of the shower. Literally, I'm not exaggerating. It was immediate. And now, just silky smoothness. Flamingo razors feel like they're working with my body and the contours of my legs instead of against them. and it makes all the difference. Finally, shaving is a ritual I enjoy rather than dread. The best part about Flamingo, these razors are made for women by women.

1:02:13These aren't men's razors made pink. They're specifically designed for girlies like us to be able to easily grip and use. Their starter set has everything you could possibly need. Flamingo's original razor, a facial dermaplane razor, my personal favorite, foaming shave gel, and a shower holder, all for just$7 if you're a baby snark. I also really appreciate that Wayfair has installation and assembly services because outdoor furniture can be heavy and intimidating to assemble. So as for Greg's career now, like we said, he is a content creator slash influencer. He posts comedy bits with Andrew Spencer and Justin Glaze, also from his season. They're kind of like a Bachelor Nation comedy act that people are like, oh my god, you guys are so funny. I love this trio. They travel together. That's all they do. They don't work real jobs. They just travel together, make content together. did a great job of kind of rehabilitating Greg's image by being associated with two kind of fan favorites.

1:06:48Andrew definitely was a fan favorite. Justin went on Bachelor in Paradise and became a fan favorite from what I recall. And from what I have gathered, neither of them are problematic at all, but I do obviously side-eye them for being best friends with Greg Gripot. If you hang out with a liar, then you are a liar or whatever Amanda said to Joyce. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. And he seems to be doing just fine as an influencer, like I said. The villain edit that he got never seemed to catch on all the way. His Grippo girls are very loyal, unfortunately. Okay, so Sophia Beverly. Let's talk about his relationship with Sophia, which we briefly touched on.

1:07:27So Sophia was a cast member on Love Overboard. Did you watch this? I don't think you did. Isn't that the Alex Cooper thing? Yeah, it's the Unwell show hosted by Gabby Wendy. Okay. I don't want it. I don't want it. So she was rumored to have dated Greg. And she went on the Off the Vine podcast with Caitlin Bristow about two months ago. And she says that they actually were dating before she went on the show. But she was like, he knows more than anyone that going on reality TV, it's good for your career. So he understood. But she describes this relationship. And she doesn't say his name, by the way.

1:08:01she says it to Caitlyn and Caitlyn's like oh my god I'm so mad at him it's like yeah because he's fucking abusive um but people have deduced that she is 100 talking about Greg here and she describes it as the most toxic relationship relationship of her life she says she was crying every day described the same thing as his ex that he love-bombed her then emotionally abused her became extremely jealous and possessive and then discarded her by kind of disappearing and cheating on her or the other way around. He cheated on her and then disappeared. And also she was an OnlyFans girl. So he's going to date an OnlyFans girl and then get jealous that she gets male attention.

1:08:37Yeah. I mean, she talked about that on with Caitlin Bristow. She was like, yeah, like the majority of my Instagram followers are men. So like, how are you going to get mad at me for posting a bikini photo? And it's so funny. This is the exact same thing that he would say to his ex-girlfriend who wasn't an OnlyFans model, but she would post bikini photos and he would get mad at her and like call her a slut or whatever. Right. And she said that it was like so fucking toxic and awful that he apparently said that he was taking like an eight week pottery course or something while he was actually cheating on her.

1:09:08So he like made up that he was taking a pottery course. Another dark energy object is men going on like spiritual healing retreats. I think that's so dark. Yeah. Like ayahuasca retreats. Yeah. Like like Jesse Lally on the valley. I went to And look, a lot of people have had amazing experiences with ayahuasca. No, 100%. But it's men that won't go to therapy, but they'll go on ayahuasca. Do whatever you want in conjunction with therapy and like ongoing self-improvement. Don't just think you're going to go on a trip and then it's going to heal the rest of your life. Like if life doesn't work like that, your brain doesn't work like that.

1:09:37Yeah. You got to put it in the work. So this became kind of, I don't want to say viral. Because again, nothing with Greg, nothing bad about Greg will ever go viral because people love him, unfortunately. But it gained some traction in the Bachelor subreddit. And SummerGirls by LFO1999, love that Reddit name, posted, he's so different from his online persona. Miserable, yelled, manipulative, knew what to say to make her feel awful. Then she found out he was cheating on her. He didn't deny it because he was caught, then needed to do a 12-week pottery course to heal himself, quote unquote. Yeah. And then, wait, this is so funny.

1:10:13This one Reddit comment is definitely about me. It says, I remember there was some woman on Twitter or Instagram who was on the rampage against Greg Grippo in 2021. She claimed that she had spoken to several of his exes and that he was emotionally abusive to all of them. I remember thinking she was annoying at the time since she was so obsessively posting about how awful he was, but perhaps she was right. I'm like, that's 100 % about me. And thank you. Thank you. I'm vindicated five years later. Thank you. I'll take it. Yep. I'll take it. And then here are more from this recent subreddit thread from two months ago.

1:10:45Always Abundant333 said, I had a friend of a friend who dated him and said his little shy boy persona was a total act and that he was incredibly toxic. I mentioned this in the sub at some point and got ripped to shreds by the Grippo girls. Like, is it really that hard to believe that someone you see through a screen might not be the person they're portraying? Also, the way he left Katie's season was so toxic. I don't know how people viewed it otherwise, Shreds. And that's exactly how I feel. It was so toxic and so gaslighty. And the fact that it could be interpreted any other way was shocking to me.

1:11:15and Jason for Bachelor posted man oh man. Tartic? What? Jason for Bachelor is the handle but like Jason Tartic. Wait when you said Tartic I thought you said Kartic and I was like what? Kartic? Kartic's our video editor. I was like what? Oh no sorry. Jason Tartic add him to the list. Jason Tartic. Yeah we need a Jason Tartic deep dive. I feel like there's a lot there. Me and my roommates were obsessed with him because he was like this like handsome guy who like you know worked in banking in New York City. And me and my roommate were obsessed. And then he turned out to be one of the, maybe thirstier than Greg.

1:11:49He's so thirsty. Yeah. Can't stand him. Yeah, there's a lot of, a lot there with Jason Tardik. Jason Tardik. I'm like Jason Mesnick. Or wait, was it Jason Mesnick? That was his name, right? He was Bachelor. He was Bachelor. So I'm like, Jason Tardik is definitely who they're referring to. They posted, man, oh man. I essentially left this fandom during Katie's season because I found the Greg Grippo love vest so wildly annoying and weird. Sorry to this woman. That guy has clearly always sucked. And then Expensive Ask 9543 said, same, I got very disillusioned with the fans of this franchise watching them defend him.

1:12:24And I feel the exact same way. Well, I feel right. And here we are, again, vindicated five years later. And I feel so sorry for Sophia Beverly, obviously. But I'm happy that a public-facing woman is coming out. And I know that she's not directly calling him out, probably because she doesn't want to deal with how evil he is. Or his fandoms. That's so ketched up with it. His psycho grippo girls. Yeah. But she is more or less naming him when she tells this story on Caitlin Brister's podcast, which I very much appreciate. Well, you did a really, really good job on this episode. This is, I actually am now more interested in watching her season just to see this all play out.

1:13:01Honestly, you should. It's worth a watch because it's like textbook gaslighting that I feel like is very informative. Yeah. You watch it and you're like, okay i know what behaviors to pick up on now when i am dating yeah yeah really good job i it i don't know it's really scary that this man still has a pretty bustling career because people still really highly engaged with his content and he is probably making a boatload of money right now who knows when that's going to you know end up but i feel like if he's attaching himself to other bachelor nation contestants you know there's power in numbers so i bet he's gonna ride this train for a while oh absolutely but send this to your friends if you guys have friends that like love him or grippo girls like this is this is for them they need to know he's had so wait oh my god he okay it's not a mountain valley water partnership because i know how much you love mountain valley water it's primo brands which delivers great tasting quality water straight to your door with trusted brands like mountain valley pull and spring etc so he has a fucking partnership with your favorite water brand, basically.

1:14:10Tons of, tons of partnerships. He just went to Africa with his like little threesome comedy trio. Enough. To film content. Yeah. Unsettling and disappointing. But I think if you guys do follow him and you were a fan of his on The Bachelorette, no judgment here. Maybe just consider unfollowing. Gross. He has Dunkin' Partnerships. Jeez, it. He's got that Dunkin' one? Bush's Beans. He's probably making so much money. Tons of partnerships. Again, it's like GroupMe partnership. Oh, my God. I feel like all he posts are partnerships. Jersey Mike's partnership. Oh, my God. And I love Jersey Mike's. Just so we're on the same page.

1:14:49Oh, my God. Jersey Mike's is so fucking good. It's so good. They cut the meat fresh right in front of you. It really is so good. And I was dying when Amanda Petula did that Jimmy John's commercial. And everyone was like, read the fucking room. Also, go to Jersey Mike's. Like, everyone was like, Jersey Mike's, Jersey Mike's on the comments. That sounds so good right now. Now I want a jersey mic. No, I'm going to get that. I'm going to ask to get that for lunch. Oh my God, that sounds amazing. Yeah. Oh my God. I love the Italian. Thank you guys for listening. Thank you for being here. And hope you enjoyed this episode about a Z-List former Bachelor contestant.

1:16:19I've been a diehard TaskRabbit stan long before they were a sponsor. I cannot remember the last time I moved without enlisting a tasker, whether it was for assembling furniture, mounting a TV, hanging artwork or shelves, the list goes on. And it's not just during a move where your to-do list can feel like it's 10 pages long. Sometimes I really just need an extra hand for those little things I feel like I never end up getting around to myself, like hanging the collage wall I promised myself I'd do for months. Wherever you are, TaskRabbit is here to help. TaskRabbit connects you with skilled taskers in your area for moving, furniture assembly, home repairs, yard work, mounting, you name it.

1:18:03I also love the look of it.

1:18:38And in case you need a reminder, everything at Quince is 50 to 80 percent less than similar brands because they work directly with ethical factories and cut out the middleman. So you're paying for quality, not a name brand markup. Elevate your summer bedding. Go to quince.com slash snarkbait for free shipping on your order and 365-day returns. Now available in Canada, too. It's finally summer, which means all of us, hopefully most of us, are going to be spending a lot more time outside touching grass.

1:19:14And when was the last time you upgraded your outdoor furniture situation? Wayfair is your one-stop shop for outdoor seating, grills, appliances, patio lighting, storage, rugs, decor, you name it. Everything you need to make your outdoor area the best seat in the house. We only have an itty-bitty balcony in New York City, but thanks to Wayfair, we made the most of our tiny space with a perfect little bistro set and twinkle lights. I'm so excited it's finally warm enough to use it again. My favorite thing to do during the warm weather months is have coffee and breakfast out there with Baxter on sunny mornings.

1:19:43It's my favorite start to the day, and it wouldn't be possible without my Wayfair furniture. I also really appreciate that Wayfair has installation and assembly services because outdoor furniture can be heavy and intimidating to assemble. It makes the experience truly seamless and stress-free. But my favorite part about Wayfair, you don't have to take out a freaking loan or remortgage your house just to make your space as gorgeous as possible. Especially if you, like me, are not in your forever home yet and you don't want to slurge on major investment pieces. I love how affordable everything at Wayfair is.

1:20:14Patio season is here and these deals won't last. Head to Wayfair.com right now to get your outdoor space ready for way less. That's W-A-Y-F-A-I-R.com.

1:20:25Greg Grippo:Wayfair, every style, every home. With the weather lately, I feel like I'm always out and about doing things. Errands, workouts, beach days, you name it. And when summer hits, I am always reminded that I need clothes that can actually keep up with all of that. And that's why I joined Fabletics as a VIP. It completely changed how I shop for a new season. New VIPs unlock major savings on their first purchase, so stocking up on cute, comfortable pieces doesn't feel like some major splurge. When I signed up as a new VIP with Fabletics, I got 70 to 80 % off of everything. It made it so easy to grab multiple matching sets, shorts, tanks, and lounge pieces for the summer without overthinking it.

1:21:02And the quality is genuinely so good. Fabletics pieces feel like ultra luxe activewear you'd expect from some of those higher end brands, you know the ones, but without the hefty price tag. These pieces are built to actually last and I love that for me. My genuine absolute favorite piece I've gotten is the Anywhere Cropped Bra Tank. It's a perfect workout top that I can throw on for a workout just to record, run errands, go out to lunch, and genuinely my boobs look really good. They're like, they suck in and like perk up just the way I like it. And I just genuinely love how easy it is to get dressed with Fabletics and how put together I look without having to actually think about it.

1:21:38Shop now at fabletics.com slash snark to get 70 to 80 % off everything when you sign up as a new VIP. Take a really quick style quiz and be sure to select snark when prompted to unlock this offer. This is a limited time offer so don't wait. Again that's fabletics.com slash snark for 70 to 80 % off everything as a new VIP.

1:21:59Turn it up! Storm has zero sugar and 200 milligrams of caffeine so you can turn that workout up a notch. Good energy in, good energy out. Energy for life.

This ex-Bachelorette contestant and current social media “comedian” prompted an entire discourse about the word “gaslighting” when his season was airing. Was it warranted? (Spoiler alert: yes.)
