In short

The hosts banter and “live react” to pop-culture headlines, then do an advice segment (“Agony Aunts”) about dating/relationships and queer friendship. Main segments include: Calvin Harris posting his wife’s placenta (home birth reaction + alleged benefits), Sydney Sweeney/American Eagle “strategic vagueness” controversy, Blood Orange finally crediting featured vocalists, festival lineup debates, a “who to take to the pub” celebrity draft, and two listener dilemmas.

Guests

No traditional guests. Recurring hosts appear to be Temi Denton-Hurst (narrator/host voice), plus Louis Bluey, Sue (Susan), Sophie, and others referenced in conversation (e.g., Bill, Christina, Eden). Listener letters are read by the hosts.

Key claims

Placenta is discussed as having health benefits (energy, mood, milk production, postpartum bleeding) and joked about as being eaten/pills. The American Eagle ad is framed as rage-bait politicized branding. Blood Orange’s lack of feature credits is criticized/celebrated, with Samantha Urbani named as a catalyst.

Notable examples

Donny (logo apology + Hackney gentrification), Black Axe Mangal vs branding, Calvin Harris placenta pills, Sydney Sweeney jeans ad, Blood Orange featuring Caroline Polachek/Carly Rae Jepsen/Nelly Furtado, festival mentions (Boomtown, Big Smoke, Boardmasters, Obeach), and advice cases involving a GBH-charged coworker kink and whether to “chop” an emotionally unavailable situationship.

0:00I don't think I can be your friend, Isabella said. Rebecca's stomach flipped. This is the love story of real hinge couple Isabella and Rebecca, written and read by me, Temi Denton-Hurst. Listen to the free audiobook now.

0:17This episode is brought to you by Facebook. So you were scrolling on Marketplace, and there it was, the bike you'd been searching for. You sent a message, and it turned out the seller was super chatty, kind of funny, and an avid cyclist. The next thing you know, you're in a cycling crew. Well, a community cycling group. The thing about Facebook, you might find more than what you're looking for. From a browse to a bike ride, this summer, find more on Facebook. Go and bring me my coffee, Nate.

0:58I don't blame you much for wanting to be free I just wanted you to know. That was nice. Look at your little toenail. Look at your little toenail. Oop-la. Oop-la. Look at your toenails, Soph. They're nice. They're nice toenails. Bring me my fucking coffee. You twat. Conor McGregor, would you? Did you see that Azealia Banks posted his nudes the other day? Oh my days. That was a rare dub for her in a sea of elves right now. Yeah, it really was. He had a cock ring on. Wait, I haven't actually seen the picture of the cock. I would show you, but obviously everything's banned. But I did watch it. I did see it.

1:44This country has gone to shit. Probably. Would you? Nasty man. I know, but you'd feel it in your throat. I used to be obsessed with him as well as a little boy. That's so huge. But he did used to be somewhat nice. And then he turned into a grueless. coke head abuser apparently um so i think so good to see you hi so good to see you louie bluey how are you we used to do a podcast together all those years ago i know it feels like that because we're back yeah we're back and we're popping okay yeah we got two clips in the bank and fame's gone to our heads yeah guys folks um do you want to start with uh donnie's donnie's apology yeah Donny apologized.

2:28Donny apologized. And recognized that he's a white guy and hackneyed gentrifying. And he's going to carry on serving, but he wanted to acknowledge his privilege and he changed the logo. He's going to serve. Donny, you keep doing it, girl. Donny, pussy boots down. You better work, but girl. Donny down. Hello. But good for Donny, honestly. I didn't really care that much. Then the video went quite big. And then a lot of people were laughing. A couple of people were angry. How do you feel about it? I just don't care I think this is the funniest thing I wish I cared Do you know what I mean? Do you know when people message us privately Not mention any names If you message us, we literally don't care There was only one person that messaged us Anyway, moving on I want to say I feel like We saved him You're welcome I feel like he didn't need to apologise Well yeah because he's going to carry on doing it It's like just own your Potentially shit idea He needed to apologise for the logo in my opinion I actually haven't seen the logo still It was giving Yeah I've heard But he said it was just inspired by a 70s disco Of course it was Which then fits in with the theme of him being a 2000s DJ He seems to have humility at least Yeah no he seems alright and I hope he's happy And he's got a daughter apparently I just like I think good for him yeah good for him but if I see him in London Fields well I'd be crossing the road absolutely it's just like I don't blame him for gentrification I feel like it's just funny like there are plenty of fucking restaurants in Hackney and London in general like we were just talking about Black Axe Mangal which is like same sort of thing it's like an English person an English white person doing like Turkish food but Black Axe Mangal is like widely respected just because they were way more sensible about their branding and also it's like it's a take on something but like just own it if you're gonna if you're gonna like if you're gonna do gentrification just make it good and then people won't complain girl you know why you know why Dusty Knuckles fine because the pastries slap okay and actually they have a nice trainee scheme oh do they yeah they have a lovely training They help people coming out of prison.

4:54Oh, that's fierce. Well done, Dustin Lachow. So that's our thoughts, really. I don't really have much thoughts. And I'll just also... But shout out to you, Donny. Shout out. But that looked more shady than it was. I actually had no thoughts. My thought is, my only thought is, when you think me and Louis care, we don't care. I do care. I don't care. Speak for yourself. Really? Yeah. I don't care. I'd just be saying things like I really I'd just be saying things yeah in that moment yeah and you know I guess part of it part of recording everything it's just like look you're gonna get some fucked up shit every now and then but that's that's why you like us because we're unfiltered oh thanks shy girl um we need to edit that shy girl clip oi oi oi oi Sophie my new laptop case sharpening her claws on yeah get her off get her off how are you otherwise Sue?

5:54I'm alright how's your week been? really really nice week I've been doing a lot of music yeah finish one project start the next you make music? no oh I thought you just did the podcast no yeah it's just podcasting oh yeah I'll check that out yeah thanks sorry how was your music a week? I want to hear about your sessions no it was good I made something that is different from what I've been making and I feel very inspired again so I'm like oh shit like let's go oh that's the best feeling like not that I've been feeling on inspired I've been feeling very inspired but it's now almost on the business side of the music where it's like how to market the music and the music's kind of done but I work the other day and I was like oh shit like I've made something here yeah it's like interesting it won't be out until like next year but I think it's it's good quite often I hear I listen to this songwriting podcast and there's a question I can't remember the name of it apologies but one question that you ask every guest is like are you the sort of person that needs to be constantly writing or do you let inspiration strike?

6:57And I feel like you're definitely good at the latter. Yeah, I think I do the Frank Ocean thing where it's like... What's the Frank Ocean thing? Where he only writes exactly the amount of songs he wants on the album. Do you know when people are like, we wrote over 200 songs and caught it on top? No, I'll write 12 songs. You think that's a flex? And that's my album. What's the point of wasting time? I know what I want to say. I know that I'm going to write. I think it's so stupid if you write 200 songs and have to cut them down That's stupid I don't understand when that became something that you're like I can write 200 songs But why?

7:29That's stupid Sorry I'm all tangled up Oh my god It's like Why would you keep working on a song that you know You know you're not going to use Sophie Sophie

7:45You've done it now You've really done it Soph. But yeah. Do you wait for inspiration to strike? Are you journaling constantly and then you convert that into lyrics? It was more, I had an idea the other day in the car with Bill and I said, wouldn't that be a good lyric? And Bill said, oh my God, yeah, it would be. And then I was like, okay, that's interesting. And then I went into the session with the singular lyric and then it was like, how can I spin this to make it about me? Hey. How can I make this about me? Hey, pieces. Do you want to say hello? No. Meow. Oh, you're being a baby. Okay, you're being a twat now.

8:24Immediate twat face. But, yeah, I went in with one lyric idea. I had no idea what I was going to say, and I was like, oh, my God, this is the perfect start to what I wanted to do. Yeah. What was the lyric we came up with earlier? Come first like a YouTube... No. Come first like a YouTube commenter. What was it? It was more clear. Anyway, take that and run, guys Yeah, you can have that one, guys Just make sure you credit us and your Grammy My week, Susan Comment first like a YouTube commenter Something like that Comment first like a YouTube commenter Comment first like a YouTube commenter First How were you?

9:06My week was Good What the fuck have I done? I haven't been making much music Oh, I've been getting my house in order I've been just one of those moments where you look at your bank account and you're like fuck and I'm not very organised sometimes so yeah very boring getting my invoices in order chasing chasing chasing it's amazing how much quicker I do the invoicing than I do the actual work oh babe the minute the invoice is in it's like can you make five TikToks for us it's like yeah that'll take four weeks and it's like, am I okay to invoice? Send it over in like 30 seconds. Fuck. But no, otherwise, I learnt this week about how or why I sometimes get on a downward spiral.

10:00Oh, why? How? Because it's actually quite an interesting, maybe even embarrassing reason. I think I had not much to be, well, until a certain event happened when I was 17. before that I didn't have much to be sad about maybe apart from like social rejection or romantic rejection so I would like and I guess I don't know if I'm kind of like theorising something that didn't happen but I would maybe revel in being sad because I was like it's boring to be yeah happy so I would you know I would really revel in listening to you know running up that hill by Kate Bush in the shower and being like this is cool maybe I didn't watch Skins but I feel like it was that sort of thing self-flagellation yeah masochism so I was talking to my therapist about it and he was like well it sounds like you know from your own description that you're kind of making a choice when you're in one of these downward spirals to be self-deprecating instead of self-celebrating.

11:13So we came to the conclusion that... You're going to do MDMA therapy. I'm going to do MDMA therapy. And I'm going to... Well, actually, we didn't come to a concrete conclusion. Effectively, what came to my head is when people have affirmations on their bedroom wall. Because I feel like when you're in the negative spiral, you're too far gone. It's too much effort to remind yourself of the good things. Yeah. Especially if you're alone And you don't want to bring anyone else into it So I need to make it easier for myself So that when I'm in one of these Watch it, you When I'm in one of these modes I need to have it as readily available Yeah But I can't have it on my phone screen, can I?

11:59No, it needs to be written down It can't be too exposed Otherwise I'll cringe Yeah, you need it on a notebook, love I need it on a notebook anyway how do you keep yourself up when you're in the downward? I don't. I'm just up at the minute. Well I do. Do you like a spiral? Yeah babe. I love a spiral. And I make it everyone else's problem. I make it affect every single bit in my life. And I'll go to a cafe and I'll be like I'm not good to the person at the cafe and they're like okay. And I'll be like. What are you going to do about it? I just kissed you. What are you going to do about it?

12:36So you're not good at getting out of them? no you don't have an antidote no I just let it go you don't have any recommendation well I usually just take a prob hammer a beta blocker and then just don't feel for a bit and then you just crawl out don't they just slow your heart rate but eventually yeah they do yeah but they may feel great but I think that eventually you just have to stand up and make the active choice to be okay do you know what I mean yeah but that's days not today well no I feel really good this week yay because I'm about to go on holly bobs oh fuck you Marse Marse What are you going to do in Marseille?

13:08How are you feeling about it? We're going to Marseille and then Provence. Go Marseille for three days to party. You said Provence. And then we're going to Marseille to a chillax. Yeah, nearly two weeks. I am off my fucking tits. Like, I'm so excited. And I'm not talking this year, guys. Well, I am. I bought like two pairs of underwear. I just want to slow dance. Would that be fun? Would that be okay? Yeah, cool. But I have bought two pairs of underwear from a tip from my friend Eden, who's also your friend, who we love Eden. Love Eden. So to gem. Because I was like, where'd you get your bikini pants from?

13:48She was like, yo, babe, you just get a couple of sizes down so it just like tightly holds everything in place and then it's kind of fine. So I did one where I'm like fully tucked, so my actual size, then I got like tucking underwear on it where it's like fully slouched back and it's pussy, pussy, pussy. And I'm just kind of like, bitch, I got a dick. Does this mean you put on your outfits? Plan my bikini outfits Oh bikini outfits Yeah yeah yeah Oh my god amazing And I've just bought loads of Sketty dresses I remember you wearing A really sketty dress Last time It's literally just see through Okay I just got see through dresses Like Bill was literally like I put it on the other day And he was literally like Babe your puss is out And I was like exactly Let's go It's gonna be eat It's gonna be eat Is dressing like a slut More fun in Marseille Than it is in London Yeah Well whenever I dress feminine Like I just dress like a skirt Yeah That's great That's fine what are you going to do what does one do in Marseille well Bill used to live there for like six months so we're going to go and go Bill, he filmed something like that so then we are probably going to frequent his favourite spots and then we'll frequent Zooey's favourite spots, and the good thing about Zoo is she hooks us up with the party so last year we just went out raving every night it was really fun, raving also I was on a call no I can't say that I was on a call this week I'm not going to say who with but I was with my manager Christina and someone mentioned rock music and Christina just went and it made me laugh so much on the call do you know when you feel like you're in science class and you have to think of death to try and not I was like someone is going to die because I was creasing up on this call and it was really professional it was so funny she got the memo I love it so much Christina you're 10 out of 10 okay yeah she's the best what should we talk about what should we talk about So, in other kind of...

15:39Actually, no, you wanted to talk about some messages up in... Yeah, right. So, I don't know if anyone's noticed in East, and mainly Shoreditch. Wait, if you're listening to this podcast, you should live in East London. No, but you would have seen it. Someone's walking around with a chalkboard pen, writing on the pavements, just, like, inspirational quotes, like, don't give up your time is soon or if it if the sun's not out then it's not the end and shit like this so i just decided to write some of my own ones um because it annoys me because i'm just kind of like one that's graffiti but not even fierce graffiti and two because i love graffiti and two it's just boring and i was like who needs it but people are taking photos and putting on the story i'm like guys so i shouldn't wisdom so my first one would be my pussy is only wet for you I reckon that would get multiple like reposts for sure and then the second one is when the colour of it is a bit bloody then maybe go to a doctor and I want all the listeners out there to listen to that because also if it's spurting blood sis you've got an ish do you know what I mean sis you've got an ish well believe me I've been there don't stop believing hold on to that feeling it's not sorry it's on the blood thing it's you also need to think about the colour of the blood the redder it is the closer it is to blood yeah and the darker and if it's black you're fucked it's like deep deep in your intestines you're possessed sorry don't stop believing hold on to that feeling and finally oh my god what was my final one I just thought of it then oh fuck's sake forgot don't stop oh no the last one the last one is can you have sex anal sex with a hemorrhoid and we'll find out We're gonna find out Guys Seriously Can someone please DM us Why do you think Who do you think's done it Do you think it's just some like Instagram Like Artist No I reckon people Well people have headphones No no no Oh No the original message is Oh yeah I reckon some Instagram There's some shit artists out there Do they Have they put their tag Mm-mm Less like the whole thing Unless it's kind of like A misc Like Non-identity Well unfortunately I feel like maybe that is You know that is the kind of target demo of shoreditch and yeah acne it's you know motivational quotes yeah um i get motivated by um joe rogan and like yeah and like david and andrew tate yeah and andrew tate and like real men yeah who like aren't afraid to say how it really is for sure and they're too busy talking and fixing their own hairlines yeah Like finesse tried to exist girl And maybe it would take 30 seconds away from the fact of you Spitting utter bullshit But that's just me In other news this week Yeah We gotta talk about it girls Well maybe we're actually late to the party But it feels like it's erupted Into new worlds Sydney Sweeney Oh yeah The jeans Only choice to grant a piece

18:51did an ad campaign for American Eagle. I'm sure you've all seen it. She says, I love my American Eagle jeans. You inherit your jeans. The jeans fit on you. They make your butt look good. The worst thing was they didn't make her butt look good. No, they really didn't. No, she should have worn more shaping. But she's blonde-haired, blue-eyed. I know. That's crazy for you. And I feel bad coming for two Aryan princesses in two weeks. I mean Sydney's 20 years later. Everyone's like crying about her being Republican and then hanging around with Hunter Schaefer. But it's also kind of like, what you're forgetting is most people in America right now are Republican.

19:27Yeah. Like everyone's been a bit of a prick. Do we know she's Republican? Yeah. That's like a whole thing. I watched this amazing video by a TikTok, who I can't remember the name of. Apologies. It had B in the title. about how this was like all it's like a seven minute fucking TikTok of how it's all like a strategic move by American Eagle deliberately to it was called strategic vagueness. So like the branding is like about I love my American Eagle genes and it leans into this thing of like your genetics but they don't say anything about genetics but it's like so vague that it can be interpreted in multiple different ways so it's now become politicized um by right and left in america so that now it's like generated all this free publicity for them yeah and then And their stock price went up$400 million in one day from it.

20:40And then they also used Kendall Jenner's Pepsi ad as an example of it. But that was more on the nose. That was more like... The gag of it is, it's like... One, they ripped off how Calvin Klein used to do it. Calvin Klein used to do exactly the same thing. You mentioned this earlier. What is the Calvin Klein? It's literally the same thing. it's by that girl talking about jeans like Calvin Klein literally did that oh really it's done it's a done concept they've just done it again I can't remember who it was back in the day she had short hair and she was you're not thinking of Wayne Rooney for Cassiero del Diablo no I'm thinking of Dachlan Rice for Miller Rice you're not thinking of Louis Bluey for Happy Tuesday that campaign so I think for the Cube Studios but no I think it's such like again it's rage bait we're all falling for a rage bait I can't believe that we care so much also facts of the video or Sydney Sweeney looks lame.

21:33Who cares about Sydney Sweeney? No shade. She's just like the new Cameron Diaz. And who cares? I can't believe it's been so politicised. Yeah. I think it might. It's so stupid. They're like, it's bringing women back again. It's, oh, I'm so bored. Like, it's like, I can't believe that we're like, it's like been like 32 years since the Calvin Klein advert and it's the same thing and people are still getting pressed. I'm like, guys, can we evolve as a society? It's a woman selling sex and talking about genes. It's like, girl, get a life. I think it's like, it's been done by another jeans band called Calvin Klein.

22:03And we are obviously at fault of this because we are feeding into the content frenzy. Yeah. But we got to get a bear. We don't make the rules. But I think it proves that we all have too much time. Yeah, go out, touch grass. If we're getting this pressed about Sidney Sweeney. It should touch grass. Yeah, touch grass. But did you see Donald Trump U-turn on the ad as soon as... Yeah. She's terrific. I heard she's a Republican. and she's terrific breasts. Beautiful woman. I love Sydney Sweeney. I love euphoria. I love the... I love drugs. I love the kind of... The search for oneself through drugs in adolescence.

22:45It's all so stupid. America's so dumb. America? America has a problem. Reminds me of myself when I was trying to make love to my au pair as a teenager in the Hamptons. We're never getting into America now. What did you think, though? How was my Donald Trump? It was really good. You know it's good as well. I've never done a Donald Trump before. That was my debut of a Donald Trump. Louis has really good accents. Because my mum does them. Mum was almost a pointless answer on Pointless last night. No way. Yeah. That's sick. I don't know. Robert Webb was in the question. I don't even know what the question was, but mum was on the telly.

23:20Who is the language blue ad celebrity you know? JR. Hey. Anything else to say on Sydney Sweeney? Nah. Nah. That's not what she does. Vocal fly.

23:38My jeans. But that's what she does. That's her thing. I'm an all-American girl. They cast it correctly. Yeah, exactly. She's, you know, she's a sub-comer. I bet she got paid money, and everyone's, like, screaming at her in the street. I'm like, guys, get a life. Get a life, please. Everyone get a life. Stop being a hater. she does do too many brand deals though it's like you don't need to you're old clearly she might but do you not think because of the films she's in I'm not gagging she's one of the most famous actress Sydney Sweeney is such a fierce name as well and she's like when I'm at home all I do is repair cars I'm like she's this caricature of herself oh ow ow get off me freak Slag What is with you Soph today?

24:30She's in violence girl Well Soph Sweeney She's the top one fan account for Sydney Sweeney Yeah Trump supporter Yeah bitch Okay elsewhere this week Stop go away stop Folks I know it's been on your mind I haven't seen it yet So I'm going to live react to it I don't know if Sue's seen it yet Drum roll please Calvin Harris Oh yeah the presenter has main gridded his placenta well not his placenta, his wife's placenta Vic Hope, you know Vic Hope though I don't know Vic Hope she's a presenter, she's a really really amazing galley is she in these pictures? I hope so Skepta, top comment, congratulations Andy Robertson, Liverpool left back wow, thanks guys okay, 20th of July, our boy arrived Mika's here, my wife is a superhero and I'm in complete awe of her primal wisdom what's up primals?

25:26We're eating raw milk and goat honey. Right, girl. Let's see it. We love you so much, Mika. Okay. Oh, home birth. God, that looks well nicer. I wouldn't mind giving birth there. I don't like the home birth, personally. God, that is fresh out. Yeah, that's it. That is covered in mucus. Oh, she looks happy. She's a legend. Whoa!

25:53It looks like a compost bin if you haven't taken it out for weeks. It looks like you've just drawn the shit part of the flower and you're about to draw the petals on. Why is it in a love heart at the bottom? They've done that on purpose.

26:06One kiss is all it takes. That is crap. What does it look like? It looks like a bin bag that has been rotting. But Calvin, I love you, and I love that you posted this. Yeah, it's quite fierce. And what happens if you eat the placenta? It makes you grow a penis. Yeah. Oh, my God, and he's cooking it up. Oh, wow.

26:33Okay. Oh, and he's putting it in pills. Okay. Health benefits placenta. Girl. Guys, this is still... I'm not going to say shit, because I want a Calvin Harris feature. I would love Honestly one of the goats One of the goats of the 21st century UK music Pop world Eating the placenta Potential benefits Increased energy and reduced fatigue Improved mood and reduced postpartum depression Enhanced milk production Milkers Reduced postpartum bleeding And faster postpartum Is he going to eat them as well? Yeah Is he just such an ally that he's like baby I'm here with you every step of the day and she's like stop yeah that's something else but I'm also that's why I don't like kids I guess you could say she's not alone do do do do do do do do do do do do do elsewhere this week so I think she could say bounce oh I guess you could say I guess you could say she bounced sorry I guess you could say miracle miracle any golden do you slide on all I might.

28:02Yeah, oh. Every month in our honey lightness. I would have ate on that. I would have ate on that. I'll eat your presenter. Calvin Harris, if it means I can jump on a song. Elsewhere in pop culture this week, Blood Orange got into heat from I believe her name is Samantha Urban I'm sorry that I don't know But like she's got credited Well yeah I guess He's got heat Because he finally Samantha Urbani Basically that female vocal That you hear on any Blood Orange song you like Is her Or Caroline Perlicek Yes I love that album I lost my second virginity to that Really? Because I see I have a virginity And I have a nice virginity where I was actually loved.

28:59Aw. I was 19. An absolutely raw dog to boy to that. The whole album. It is a great album. Because you know when you're just like in your head that it's just like I can just keep going. I was just like pumping. Cupid Deluxe. Cupid Deluxe or Negro Swan? I like Cupid Deluxe better. I enjoy Negro Swan though. Wait, there's another one. What has best of you? Be the best to you. Oh. Did you really want it? I could be the only one Maybe it's Freetown Sound. Maybe that's my favourite. Anyway, yeah, he's just got into shit for... I love him, though. Until now on Spotify, Blood Orange had never credited any of the featured artists, of which there are a lot, including some kind of...

29:49It's quite impressive because a lot of these names are now huge, but maybe when he was working with them in 2016 or 2014 like M press of yeah although she has been about for ages but she's uh Caroline Polachek features on a lot on Carly Rae Jepsen Nelly Furtado um and then this Samantha Urbani is the reason I found out about it because she did a post like it's it's so nice to finally be able to post about this album because like I felt like I had to fight to tell people that I was even on it in the first place. Sure. Where do you stand on crediting, featuring? I think it's fierce, but sometimes it's fierce when you don't credit them.

30:32I think it's hard. 0-7-0 Shake is on Ghost Town and isn't credited, but I think that's even more fierce. You know it's me. Do you know what I mean? Talking in your sleep. I know you want to cry all night. I like it when they, like opening week, don't have them. Because then when you first listen to a big album, you don't know who's on it. Like no credits. And then after like five days, put all the features on. Yeah. I think that's the move. Yeah, fine. And I think that's the ideal world we want to live in. Okay? But Blood Orange you get a pass Because you make such good music And apparently he's a really nice guy as well Yeah I heard that Elsewhere this week I think There's So I think I know you're not a festival person But this weekend We have Boomtown Skepta's Big Smoke Crystal Palace Houghton Boardmasters And Obeach Which is obviously part of the UK Yeah.

31:41Where would you most like to play? Skepta's Big Smirk. Oi. Would you play the grime day or the, like, cheeky house day? Probably the grime day. Okay. What about you? Who would you bring out? Who would I bring out? I don't know. Maybe Lady Leisha. Chai Cartier. Chai Cartier, yeah. Bah, bah. I'm really excited for her new song, Mew Mew. I'm really excited. I would play Boardmasters for the laughs. I mean, Bob Master's meant to be fierce. Is it? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I just... Cornwall and... What do you think, Seth? Cornwall and cool just don't go together for me.

32:28What do you think, Seth? Sure. Sure. Sure. Sure. Um.

32:35Sure. I think, is the best love aspirational? I think we briefly discussed this. What? We briefly discussed this the other day. But I made an observation, and you disagreed with it, that I think the recipe for a loving relationship or a good, successful, long-lasting relationship is that you both feel like you're punching just a tiny bit. I feel like I'm punching every day. Oh, I thought you disagreed the other day. No, I feel like I'm punching. Okay. Also, we all know I'm punching, right? No, you're not. You're obviously not. But like you just said, the nice thing to know is like... Yeah, but you're on reels.

33:19Yeah, I know I'm on reels, but... He's not making reels. I thought he said he's on reels. He's not making short-form content. Yeah, I know. He's making long-form content, actually successful content. He's making films. He's leading films.

33:35Okay, cool. I thought you said that you want to be like... Nah, I'm punching booze. For the first couple months of being with Bill, I was just like nervous. Because I feel like I'm punching. Yeah. But I think that's fine. And has that feeling subdued at all? Yeah, because I'm just like, well, I'm with him. So eventually, like, eventually it's just got to be like, I can't walk around my life and be like, ooh, my boyfriend who's that I'm punching to be with. What was the moment where you realised you weren't punching?

34:08I don't know. I feel incredibly... I feel very lucky to be with him. But then I think that's just a nice thing. Of course you feel lucky to be with him, but... Like punching, yeah, maybe... Is there a moment where, like... I guess at the start, if you really fancy someone, you're going to feel like you're punching, maybe. Yeah. But I do think there maybe is a time where that... It has to subdue. Yeah. Because then you won't be able to get on like a normal person. It's not like I wake up every day like, I can't believe I'm weird you don't want to idolise yeah yeah yeah no but you do actually so I just love him no you love him a lot and it's very sweet okay cool I have a game for us yay tag a new game called who's at the pub okay and I have a list of names here and I'm going to do a call out to our listeners to submit a list of names.

35:09Basically, the game is you just give us a list of pop culture names within the kind of straight diva UK-US pop culture lexicon and beyond. But I think, as you may be able to tell from mine, I think you could go weirder with it, honestly, than I have. I think we encourage the weird or the niche as much as possible. but this week I've just submitted it and basically the game is we have a list of 12 celebrities here and we are going to draft all 12 of them and then at the end we're going to see who has a better group to go to the pub with and we can't pick the same name so Sue I think, here's your list of names yeah who do I think Scott who do you most want to go to the pub with on this list?

36:00JVN okay JVN's for Sue I'm gonna take well no why did you take JVN first? because it's Jonathan Van Ness and it would be a fucking key and I feel like they would bring ultimately a huge group of people who are completely different do you think they drink? it's not an issue I believe that they're on bag no they're sober but then I think have you seen them though? they're literally like oh my god like the queen out it would be like the queen out of all queens yeah they don't need drugs and then she'd grab my hair she'd be like you need a hemisylene Moisturiser And I'm like Thank you queen The hair dry cream You need the hair dry cream You scrunch it in You scrunch it in And it creates This beautiful Natural wave Yeah Look amazing I love JVN Constant reassurance When me and Laurie Used to live together We literally Used to watch JVN Like their YouTube channel We're obsessed with her Do you feel stunning?

36:53Oh Do you feel stunning? Definitely the best Queer Eye Oh Boots The rest of them Are hags Yeah They're bar not to be confused with fair dude guy's hot Anthony's hot but he looks G'd out I think he's looking a bit rough around the edges okay my first bit one of them is apparently like a G like a G whore apparently like the room is like one of them is like a proper like Tina I reckon it's Anthony guys don't do G it's the worst worst drug it is um yeah no let's not talk about okay I'm gonna take Gemma Collins. Period. That was going to be my second one. Because I mean, the record speaks for itself.

37:39She's the funniest person in the UK. She'd be starting fights. She'd be charming the pants off people. The funniest. Yeah, I'm the funniest. Education. That's what the money is. What you studying? Yeah. Need I say more? you ain't never getting none of this candy. And I'd just get her to say that all night and then she'd go, Louis, would you fuck off? Yeah. Okay, up next. Trenton is a fucking weirdo. Wait, how many we got to pick? I think we should pick five. I think second, I want Bonnie Blue. JVN and Bonnie Blue. How do you think JVN and Bonnie Blue are going to get on? They're going to Kiki Down and they've also both got Beautiful Hair.

38:28True. Okay. I am going to take... I want to date with Rawls, Carti says. Rawls? Raka asks. This is the love story of real hinge couple Carti and Raka. Written and read by me, Nicola Dynan. The thing about Facebook, you might find more than what you're looking for.

39:13From a browse to a bike ride, this summer, find more on Facebook.

39:25Ash Sarkar number two Fuck you, that was going to be my third one I think she'd really form a nice double pivot with Gemma Collins I think the great thing about Ash Sarkar is that even though she's obviously incredibly intellectual I think she could get on well with anyone Yeah, with anyone, yeah for sure and you know maybe it would even bring a little bit of interesting political or moral discussion into the evening so I'm going Ashley and I bet she loves a good hazy pale ale yeah she could introduce me to some kind of pale ale I haven't ever for sure okay up to third pick Jojo Siwa no that's the worst pick of the whole draft JVM Bonnie Broome Jojo Siwa and me at the pub their pub why did you pick Jojo Siwa Because it's Jojo fucking T-Wa What?

40:17Because she makes mid music and she goes out with Chris Hughes from Love Island Mid music? I don't think Karma's a Bitch is mid I think it's an ex-Miley Cyrus song Karma's a bitch Oh sorry You should've known better I was thinking of my kinkers Karma Okay You got a ginger beard Yeah it goes ginger in the sun Ooh, baggot Queen

40:44okay with my third pick i'm gonna take johnny vegas nice um i hope that's okay i hope he's like all right in pubs i feel like he might have a booze problem that's okay but you know he's gonna have stories you know You daft cunt And you know him and Gemma are gonna Key key down, they're probably besties Yeah I just hope I wouldn't be putting him in a Triggering place And I'd want to hear all about his ADHD Yeah But with your fourth pick, who are you taking? Maybe Sydney Really? I pray for Sydney, hope she's gonna be alright Sydney, me, Bonnie Blue Who else did I say? Jojo Siwa and JVN, period. Okay, I'm going to take Sharon Osbourne with my fourth pick.

41:45Yeah, I was going to take that, but then she was going off about Palestine the other day. Oh, was she? But negatively. Oh. She's an idiot. Okay, maybe. I'm like, you're meant to be mourning, you're getting on to be a fucking IDF supporter. Like, you're an idiot. You literally. Are you an idiot? You fucked up the easiest PR bag of your life. Yeah, like everyone was like, oh, poor Sharon. Fuck Sharon. Dickhead. Okay, maybe I sub Sharon out for... It's starting to get to the dregs. As much as I love... Thank you. As much as I love Anthony Fantano, I don't know how much he's going to be great at the pub.

42:19I fancy him so much. But you know him and Ash are going to have some intellectual chats. And I think maybe when Johnny and Gemma are hitting it off, Anthony and Ash can get deep and snobby about music. so I'm going to take Anthony Fantana nice with your final pick I want Matt Cardell just to ask about what it's like to work with Rihanna yeah and how and what it's like to lose fame and I reckon him and Bonnie will be friends I reckon they'll get along like because he's like from the middle of nowhere and Bonnie and me are from Derby what do you reckon he'd think about her doing all that shaggy I think he'd like it yeah do you reckon he still wears like a trilby I hope so JV Anker put on the trilby and make fun of him like oh Matt you're such a twat it'd be fierce Also, Matt Cardle definitely loves a fucking Peroni.

43:04A pint of Peroni. Go get Matt, that'd be a key. What do you reckon Matt Cardle's doing now? He was a carpenter. So that. Fuck. Is he still releasing music? Let me know. One week you're working with fucking Rihanna, the next you're fucking doing carpentry sparky trade. Oi, boys, what do you reckon the best carpentry sparky trade is in fucking Kent? What's moving the most? Is he from Kent? No, I don't know. And then with my final pick, just to be clear, still on the board, we have Sharon Osbourne, Wayne Lineker, and Eating With Todd.

43:49It's got to be Wayne Lineker. Yeah, it has to be Wayne. I'm surprised I didn't pick him first. Because he is gross. Yeah. But I think In moderate You know like You have those friends That you like You'd go out with Yeah But you wouldn't hang out With any other context No you don't want him Anywhere crazy to you So you're getting really fucked up Yeah Keep him at an arm's distance For sure But to get into that man's mind Would be Very very Very interesting I think Yeah And to ask him Where he'd get his lips done Because it's Where'd he get his lips done Um Oh he's coming back Mike Hardell He's coming back New album The Great Escape Out 2025 Should we get him on the pod But he hasn't posted since 2017.

44:27Wait, so how do you know? Is it in his bio? Oh, yeah, it's in his bio. And he hasn't posted his... Oh, yeah, he's looking a bit leng, though. Jesus Christ, Matt. Chill. Look at those baby blues. Fuck. He looks rugged. He looks like mummy porn. Yeah. He looks like Commuter Belt Crushed Velvet mummy porn. Mummy porn. Okay, should we do... Agony Hance? Agony Hance. Yeah, so if you're really digging into my leg When we collide We come together If we don't We'll always be apart Right, are you ready? Whenever you're ready I'm ready I'm so fucking ready You know what I love about the agony aunts the most?

45:14Sorry to interrupt you Is that I get to put my laptop down Oh yeah Oh, your cigs are falling out, girl Push them back in Are you ready, girl? Um, yes Can I talk to you for a minute? Stokie, straightish, daddy hunter. Never say Stokie again. Stokie, straightish, daddy hunter. Broke up with my long-term wife, who was a complete mummy's boy and drain of my life and have started since fucking an electrician at work. There's sparks between us, oi oi. But I'm worried he's getting too attached. He's been to prison for GBH and he's approaching... Sorry. He's been to prison for GBH and he's approaching his 40s, but he's lovable, really.

45:51how do I make how do I make the fantasy of him fucking me in his workshop in the basement at work happen without him getting too close and having to do the whole meet the family stuff struggling because I also have feelings for him and he smells amazing but it is obviously the wrong man for me and the whole prison thing is not great love you divas well first love you love you second girl what have you got yourself into GBH girl it sounds like your like Yorkshire tradie fantasy yeah but I didn't do it do you know what I mean Like, it's a fantasy for a reason, lady. Okay, where to start? I mean, the headlines is, this is bad.

46:30I mean, but then I do also believe that people can be better, but... For sure. Jail for GBH is crazy. I feel like we didn't get much info on... That means gross bodily harm. Grievous, no? Grievous bodily harm. I was doing the legitimate version. That means big bodily harm. I was doing G. yeah i was doing ghb um we didn't get much of a perspective of like they've changed so much it was more like i know he's trouble i know he's a bad day but you didn't say maybe you're just being like honest with yourself and you're like not trying to lie that like he's so different like it sounds like you're you haven't changed your opinion on him from this person that committed that crime and yet you still want to get your rocks off fair play to you man i got her yeah i don't really have much to say on that babe like if you want to fucking fuck him but i wouldn't bring him home to the fam and also bring she looks young and bringing like a 40 year old man to meet the family is is that fierce i don't know maybe it is uh you know what i would do i would look it's all about keeping this person at an arm's distance phone sex yeah and then you can do it and then you can come and then or fuck him at work but then it's the fear of him getting close I understand that what's work do we know probably like hospitality I mean you also we haven't even acknowledged the fact that you're fucking someone you work with which is peaking itself let alone him having GBH charges But you know maybe Look this doesn't necessarily have to be a loss Maybe you take Maybe you take this as kind of a Lesson Not a lesson A learning that you have a kink For older men Older men Danger And you can recreate this kink With people that don't commit Grievous bodily harm gross is it yeah no it's Grievous I think it is Grievous Grievous and Butthead hello Grievous is a crazy word that is crazy right are you ready whenever you're ready 26 short non-binary queer is my Apple Watch an ick yes I hate Apple Watches I think they're disgusting obviously they're they're a wonder of modern technology and I hate when people are like dumb phone get me away from technology yeah but Apple Watches are where I draw the line I agree I just think they're naff Ben Aff and it's like why are you tracking your fucking heart rate all the time yeah we didn't you know men used to fight in war and you're tracking your heart rate every two seconds there it is sorry but grow a pair get them so no to Apple Watches sorry maybe sell it sell it that's it I interrupted you that's all I had to say so yeah jack-in don't do that also you are getting a lot of very kind of huge benefits day-to-day you know to track so maybe don't listen to us because we are yeah image image obsessed people that worry too much about how we're perceived and not about our heart right yeah and honestly if you wear something that is uncool and unattractive and you just fucking own it that makes you more attractive then at the start.

50:00So it's up to you, really. Ready for the final one? Yes. Hey, Sarah. Oh, this is from 23, newly pronounced Provincial Fag. Provincial? Provincial? Provincial. I don't actually know what that means. Anyway, that's what it is. Hey, Sarah. Hey. Hey. Last year, I moved from London to a smaller UK city for uni. Having few queer friends here, I entered a 10-month situationship with an emotionally unavailable guy and leaned on him a lot as one of the only gay people i knew here he'd always told me we were friends with benefits but we effectively role-played our relationship for 10 months cooking together tv dmcs and not always sex etc he led me on a lot and whenever i'd ask for more he'd pull away as a result i've taken some space but i'm wondering do i give him the chop fully can we be friends when we pretended to be friendship for so long feelings are real How do I make gay friends in the city with no real gay scene?

50:53Damn, girl. We'll tackle the last question separately of having gay friends in a small town. But it sounds like trouble. Yeah, you need to dead this guy off, babe. I'm not necessarily against lovers, exes being friends. But this sounds like not even ignoring who's to blame or like, well, it sounds like he's to blame by the description. but ignoring blame for any second it sounds like your relationship was unhealthy so I would definitely advise against being friends and I would yeah, I would humbly vote chopping it off and you know look back at it as like well it was a shit relationship but it did give me some sort of comfort.

51:39Yeah and you had a mate for 10 months Yeah moving to a new place I got myself in and now it's time to move on and maybe in regards to like being somewhere not around gays, maybe get on Hinge and be like, actually just looking for mates. I'm actually looking for mates. Because at the end of the day, online is probably where you're going to find them or is there a local gay bar or where's the closest village or town? Did they say where? No, didn't say where.

52:07Yeah, go to the closest city maybe so you can see mates there and you have to just make a bit more of an effort. Where are they are? Plymouth. Plymouth, oof. But it's queers in Plymouth. There's quite a lot, yeah. Quite a good art scene in Plymouth, right? Where are there not queers? Well, yeah, that's what I think. Even in Derby, you made it work. You just get two buses. Do you know what I mean? Well, yeah, sorry. You're the fucking... You're the queen of Derby. That was... Yeah. Me and Bonnie Blue. But I... I didn't struggle. I made friends. You make friends online and then you just go see them.

52:37That was literally it. It was dating apps. You might have to travel. Yeah, you will have to travel. You're going to have to get on the bus. And when you're making a friend through a dating app, is it like... Was the pretext... No. Let's be friends? Or was the... No, it was always like, oh, we see how this goes, and then he just kind of realised it, mate. Okay, nice. Yeah. Yeah, I feel like we... I almost slightly question how much I say it, but online is actually sometimes your friend. It's here. And Sue's yawning, so that's the end of the episode. Oh, sorry. Can I just say that I am so grateful for everyone that writes in with these messages.

53:14It's such an honour to answer these questions and give people advice. Don't know why we're doing it or why we have the authority to give advice because we don't. But it's very fun. One of life's biggest pleasures. And I'm very grateful for you as well, Susan. I'm grateful for you. Can I just say, Louis is the one upkeeping the podcast. I really need a minute and I need a break. Guys, I'm hungry. I'm hungry to eat. So I'm really grateful for this girl because I'll be back. I'll be back. I've had my moments where I needed. Yeah, I've really just, yeah. We pick each other up when the other's like a bit fatigued.

53:55And I feel fatigued. But you're going to go on holiday and you're going to come back and you're like, I have arrived. I have arrived, bitch. Okay. Love you. Love you. Bye. I didn't like what you said, Odin pauses, about the future. This is the love story of real hinge couple Odin and Edward, written and read by me, Curtis Garner. Listen to the free audiobook now.

54:48Great week.
