In short

The episode is a wide-ranging chat with Zoe Deutsch and Nick Robinson (hosts) and comedian Jack Shepp (guest), plus Sue and Louis referenced throughout. It starts with a brief ad break about a Windows 11 “Unreal College Deal,” then moves into personal routines for anxiety and sadness—what music they listen to when nervous or down—and how performers cope before gigs. Jack discusses his SNL journey: he applied to be a writer, didn’t get that role, then got selected through a multi-stage live showcase/audition process after being spotted at gigs. He shares near-miss incidents (like a traffic cone thrown at his head) and his favorite SNL sketches, including a “purse popping” mum sketch and characters like “scrimp” (with Bella Hull), plus Gen Z-themed bits. They also debate ADHD diagnosis legitimacy, supermarket rivalries (M&S/Waitrose/Tesco/Sainsbury’s), and the slang “twink.” Notable guests/celeb mentions: Jamie Dornan, Hannah Waddington, Dave Grohl, Lena Dunham, Lorde, Andy Samberg, and Joanna Newsom.

Our brand new movie, Voicemails for Isabel, is all about those little moments that feel like the universe is looking out.

0:42Feeling homesick, then your sister calls. Hearing that perfect song exactly when you need it.

0:51Sometimes life rigs things in our favor, like learning about your new favorite rom-com, Voicemails for Isabel, now playing only on Netflix. Do you sort of get like Bluetooth speaker rights in the SNL dressing rooms or are you all apart? We're all kind of like running around, like really running around. Sometimes if I'm having like a freak out, I'll put headphones in and I'll walk around like the block and listen to music. But it's sort of like if you I think if you played music out loud, it would stress everyone. Right. OK, but I would listen to a lot of like techno and like walk around smoking a cigarette.

1:26Zone in. Yeah. That sounds like it would get me more nervous. Anxious. Yeah, this is actually interesting. What do you listen to if you're feeling nervous? I go quiet and go really weird. I feel like I can't communicate. For the last two hours before a gig, even if I know what I'm doing, feel confident about the gig, don't even feel nervous, I just get weird. Do you get yawning? Yeah, I'm just not listening. I'm just not listening at all. If someone tells me something, I'm just like, okay. Unless it's to do with the show, I literally don't give a fuck. Do you know what I mean? If you're feeling like sad, what would you listen to?

1:58If you were like, I'm feeling really like, not like cozy in my feels, like actually sad, like you're bummed out. I think Adrian Lenker for me is always, because she doesn't make me sad, but I listen to it because it's comfort-y. The last album with Real House and it on it. Phoebe. Yeah, Phoebe. So you would lean in? Yeah, yeah, always lean in. Never try and get myself out. I'm leaning out. Yeah, I'm listening to Broke Up if I'm feeling sad. Really? I find it really hard to listen to sad music when I'm feeling sad. I know I love it So when do you listen to the sad music? When I'm feeling good What?

2:29Like if I'm like Walking around the park After this I'll probably listen to some sad music And walk around Loving the dark by Adele Yeah exactly Yeah exactly That's nice I can't That's good for your mentors I feel Yeah I think listening to like Ambient chill music If I was about to do a show I'd feel that would make me really like Listening to like really maximal like Yeah That's gonna get me out I'd listen to super macho rap music Yeah Okay Or nothing. Or like JT, because I can quickly turn my sad to anger. Like these bitches are actually just a bit jealous. Sometimes you need to hear it. And then it's like JT coming.

3:04Do you know what I mean? JT coming. What's up, twin? Why are you sitting still? And I'm hearing that and I'm thinking, why am I sitting? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Up I get. Up I get. Oh, God. I love her. So much. Her in the Apex Twin video. Oh, just like, it's so good. I love her so much. I think that the way these titties sitting in this shirt, you know, it's surgery. is one of the funniest and best bars. I think one of the best songs, most inspirational songs is Survive by the City Girls. I've been through a whole lot of things. Oh, Sophia. Me and Sue pretended to be DJs for an evening. Sophia. Last December.

3:38Where? LNCC. Which is a shop in Dulston. Yeah. And it was for Charlotte Knowles and Miss 60. Yeah. Okay. And As in you literally pretended or you were like, we produced. I can, I can. Louis can DJ I can survive on some decks Okay And I can fake dance And Sue can dance You can be What's her name In the Kate Trinidad boiler room That was me You again Well girl I would have done that But they shoved me Shalia Shalia They shoved me Into some Miss 60s Small jeans That just never fit Ever You look good But it was like Muffin topped heavy Like it was kind of Yeah but nobody could see The muffin top So I could Hot muffin top Yeah Well this is the thing I was like Lil Kim in it So I was like Doxie can see No but Sue Sue's only contribution to the DJing was like, yeah, can we play that other JT song?

4:26Yeah, can we just keep playing JT and Nicki Minaj? And it kept going down, really. Yeah, and everyone was like... That's awesome. But Jack, I mean, we haven't even... We've barely touched the surface with SNL. Oh, my court case. Yeah, your court case. SNL? What was your court case? I can't get into it. Yeah. I threw something. You know, actually, just right now. Pick me up and throw me, then. I'm going to dox you. Someone threw a traffic cone at me as hard as they could in the street. What? Here today? No, like a few months ago, someone just lobbed a traffic cone at my head as hard as they could.

5:03What the fuck? Was it a young scally? Was it a teenager? It was like someone who wasn't having a good time. It was someone who wasn't very well. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. But it was like at my head. Yeah, sorry about that. It was someone who was going through it. Was it? I'm out of you. I'm out of that heart, man. And Jesus Christ, great threat. yeah thanks mate I did cricket as a kid yeah yeah put some spin on it you put some spin on it right arm off spin hello ripped through me gave me retraction alopecia girl how's that

5:40that's awesome that's awful was this in Peckham by any chance no it was right near here oh yeah that's what it was yeah it was near here it was right near here um so how'd you get on snl what's your tea well yeah how the fuck did you get on snl yeah it's confusing um i just ordered i sent in a tape and then i did we had we had a tape and then a live showcase and then like a camera oh a live showcase that's crazy i remember when we went to that scenic route gig you were preparing something for it you were in the middle i don't know if it was for writing or for it was for i thought yeah i thought when i saw you it was like yeah i'm doing this thing for snl but it was writing i applied to be a writer on it first and then i didn't get didn't get it um who wants to be a writer when you could be the fucking one yeah well i feel like that that was my tea before and then i was because i was like they're not gonna let this fucking ugly freak on there yeah but i bet you're writing in the moment and you're like yeah let's just do it this well we're also this way the way with the cast and the writers like everyone writes on the show yeah so it's like and then any cast can put sketches in so it like worked out obviously on that vibe win-win um but yeah when i saw you who did we see fuck knows ormside projects ormside scenic route that's all you need to know okay it was cool yeah yeah we both went alone and we smoked a bunch of cigarettes yeah we smoked a ton of cigarettes um yeah and then it's just like quite normal really but i guess um there were like three rounds to it and we i i think they were like out at gigs like finding in gigs in london like trying to find people to say yeah and i think i got seen at like a gig and yeah and quite normal it's quite like it was quite normal and it was quite a long audition process but like actually yeah only three stay i only did three stages and how did you celebrate when you got the call well what was weird was that oh sorry we just like i i literally immediately when this is crazy i immediately started twerking.

7:47Oh my God. Is this normal? Yeah, it's so normal. She loves people. Oh, so good. I'm about to say some really vulnerable stuff now. It's all part of the podcast movement. Are we out of physics? No, it's down here, my love. Oh! Is it? For audio listeners, Louis is looking for the sparkling water from M &S. We started shopping at M &S. Come on. Yeah, it's crazy. You have to shop for the podcast that you deserve. Well, yeah. For the life you deserve, really. So get that M &S logo out. Imagine they sponsor and they send you some biscuits to try us. Have you seen... This is... Girls, this is very like...

8:23I'm so sorry. This is so East London of me. And maybe even South London these days. Have you seen this sparkling red that is always sold out in M &S and everyone is going... Every time we go into M &S now, we go and check for this sparkling red. And I'm not even drinking at the moment. And it's nice? Apparently... Well, I've not had it. It's sold out. like the shelf is empty yes but it is a pet natt that's usually sold out but we got a few that it's actually in the fridge but we have I'd be like shit shit wait M &S are doing natty? yeah babe like this like this like fizzy red wine is sold out everywhere you can't get it like you literally can't get it grow the grapes M &S please honey can I ask a question?

9:01yeah please and then we will talk about SNL are we no no we're still going we're still going until I still go. I kind of liked it. It got really real. So M &S, right, universally loved supermarket despite being... And the sponsors of the England kit or something like that. Oh, really? Or the sponsors of like England, like they're doing the suits that they are travelling and that around them. Basically, why is M &S so universally loved and Waitrose is so hated by... This is really interesting. But I think because M &S was like basics and shit. Like M &S was really good pants. All my girlfriends fuck with M &S pants.

9:37But actually, wait, that is interesting because waitrose is like that's where you go for like actual food yeah yeah yeah do you know what i mean like and like bits well they say that mns that's where you go for like a nine pound in the oven lasagna but they say that mns is good for the pits jack oh my god mns is good for basics these days because they're saying mns is just as expensive as little sometimes because the price have gone up in little whereas mns's have always stayed the same they've frozen that being said when i did go the other day bill paid and it was like 75 pound for like maybe like two days worth shopping i was like this is a joke like i was like i will never do this again yeah that that's the thing i used to shoplift from waitrose when i was in uni sick and then sometimes you'd be like fuck i actually have to pay for this and it'd be like 60 quid for like lurp pack i think it's because i think it's because waitrose doesn't have if you look at a map of waitrose locations yeah it's pretty tory town yes it's like i don't think there's like i think the number of waitrose in the north of England.

10:38It's like Booths. Do you know Booths? I don't know Booths. So like North, it's like kind of like Midlands North, the north of England. It's like an M &S, but like posher. Everything's organic. It's like Booths. People all know. You'll fucking know. Put it in the chat. Wait. You just don't go to Booths. Top three supermarkets. Tesco's number one, so I was... Okay. No, sorry. No reaction. Wait, Tesco's your one? Yeah. Okay. is tesco always you go all the way first tesco i'm gonna say mns because i want to i'd like to be an mns girl and i'd like that's manifesting yeah uh the m mns is manifesting and sue um and um and then the third would be do you know what i never really it's not that i don't like little and aldi i've just never lived closely to one ever like even there was one on all camp road but it was like so much longer so i would i hate saying to me asda's basic ranges is quite fierce they're gluten-free is just as cheap as regular so when i was gluten-free asda was fierce because it's the same price as like regular their pasta is the same price as pasta gluten-free pasta okay which is good for me at the time that little on old kent road is that little that little god damn that's like no that's like the most far away from you yeah from anywhere also they knocked it down to build it back up again that is really cute oh audio list is so cute they knocked it down to build it back up again.

12:00Was that a lyric? Yeah. Is that a Lord lyric or something? It's Demi Lovato, Survivor. Warrior. Warrior. I'd go to Lidl and then leave with the shop and be like, what am I supposed to do now? Get a cab. Yeah, well, that's what I mean. You have to bring one of those trolleyes. Go to that Colombian bar. You've been to that Colombian bar? Oh, yeah. Fierce, to be fair. I've never been. It does look amazing. What my, my number one, I don't know, I feel like I always live near a Morrison's. Okay. Interesting. Okay. That must be so hard. Oh my God, of course. You're in... In Bedfordshire, that's the one we have.

12:34It was Summerfield and now it's Morrison's. And there's one in Camberwell. Summerfield. Summerfield, run it up. Run it up. Summerfield, Morrison's, there's one in Camberwell. And then maybe Lidl for a sort of hard cheese. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry, I fuck with Waitrose. Really? Bump it, bump it. It's in my top two as well. And M &S I like, but it's like sometimes I don't want a whole fucking tortellini in a bag. Yeah, yeah, yeah. People listening to this right now, like, I thought Jack said he wasn't posh. Yeah, I'm changing. I've changed. SNL's changed. And that's good, and that's what we want.

13:05We want social mobility. We want people to be able to go to Waitrose and drop, you know, get that big old olive oil. Exactly, there shouldn't be anything wrong with that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Health is wealth. So, interestingly, I hate Tesco, and I love Sainsbury's is my top. And that's why we work on the podcast. Sainsbury's is the top. We're just bridging divides again. I feel like Sainsbury's is so expensive. and also what's her nectar point what does it do I should have like four years worth of nectar points at this point what do you mean it's the same as a club card because I've been going because no it doesn't do anything because I've been going to the Sainsbury's because I lived in New Cross that big Sainsbury's saw me in some states and I've like scanned my nectar card all the time but you get nothing what have I got nothing and you're saying for the same for the same bang I've got Bella Italia with my Tesco points Pizza Express we took our friend Adam him out with my tesco club car points thank you i'll get yeah get whatever dough balls you want it's on mr tesco manifesting and said

14:08i one time went to a bella italia with my dad before we went to go and see a film and then when we left the bella italia guess what it was held at knife point and we saw on the news we were like we were just in that it got held at knife point held up at knife point that's quite impressive holding up at knife point yeah go boss one person with one knife like surely a whole restaurant could probably take them yeah a restaurant full of knives you know i just feel like your front of house and you're like hang on like just one moment we've got a whole kitchen worth of appliances that we could throw like ladles and all like we're stacked yeah we're stacked you're fucked and then you've also got like heat you could boil water and throw it yeah do you know what i mean and none of the morons in veritalia yeah in 2017 thought that exactly sainsbury's aldi waitrose yeah okay fine yeah aldi is better than little in my opinion because it's basically the same price but the food is better nicer okay morrison's i'm sorry is maybe my least favorite supermarket i feel like it satisfies neither sometimes good price and selection.

15:21I'm well up. Yeah.

15:27And it's just like, and it's always in the wrong place at the fucking wrong time. This is like couples therapy. Orna's like, well, wait now. Have you seen that couples therapy of the trans woman with the other trans woman who hasn't come out yet about ADHD? 17:08Jack what do you think of Sue's recent ADHD diagnosis do you think it's a scam or do you think it's legit I think it's legit there's a part of me where I'm like I probably have just like scammed it but like Bill was like you need one what is it you've scammed getting it or you've been scammed well yeah when they're like did you disrupt the class as a kid I was like yeah it was the same as when I got hormones like have you always felt like a girl I was like always kind of started at uni like like if you always felt like a girl i was like yeah in it but like girl i didn't think i was a girl as a kid i didn't have the words or the knowledge same as shit with like adhd i saw sophie and i was like yeah i'll do that yeah fuck it that's why i changed the name to season it was a big joke i was just copying sophie god that's electric i know it's kind of crazy get you on i kind of just don't exist um no but i um i think the same with ad ADHD, yes you do.

17:55You're seen and you're saved. Manifestant ensue. But I think it's like, ADHD, yeah. If you want it, you just be like, yeah, I just dropped to the class. I always got to move down the table. Literally, like, couldn't get my GCSEs. Literally have A's in physics. Like, I'm like - Extra time. Extra time. Yeah, but now I can get sunflower lanyard. So I should just do it to go through customs. Because customs has got so bad. Whenever I've gone abroad this year, it's so bad. So now you can skip through. Yeah, with my sunflower lanyard. Yeah. you can be like i'm not paying for that cab yeah i'm not hitting that split wise yeah literally i'm not doing rent this month i'm not doing this well you could use it to get that big lure glastonbury yeah i i think it's real thank you yeah i i think it's real i think obviously like there must be some kids that where it was like god they're annoying yeah let's give them Yeah, I think so.

18:51My ex-boyfriend was like that, but he had ADHD so bad that he was like, you can't possibly have ADHD because next to him I was like, normal Neville. Do you know what I mean? He was like, yeah. I do know people who have ADHD is like, it's like ruining their life. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like really bad. It can be really, really bad. Have you got any fun diagnoses? No diagnoses. Have you ever had an STI? I've never had an STI. Me neither. But not an official one. Have you? I feel like I've had like a sort of secret one. yeah like crabs but you just shaved it and it's fine yeah yeah like crabs but they weren't crabs they were something else something more evil um still there no i've never had an sdi i have ocd yeah okay yeah but i've never been diagnosed but like i know i have ocd because when i was a kid it was like for me there's like two prongs of ocd there's like checking the hobs off yeah and then there's like touching the fridge at times so mum doesn't die yeah and they're both real but i had the one that was like I was touching every wall in my room going like one, two yeah, yeah, yeah I had like Hannah Horvath OCD don't finish this Soella video everyone in your family is going to die yeah yeah, yeah if I don't rewatch the Brazilian gay film The Way He Looks my family is going to die if you remember that for the heads I like the ones that are like I if I don't finish this packet of crisps like I'm going to die shit like that I like love it I'm just like good yeah, that was my good for you guys it's just a fun little game but it's obviously not it's like a debilitating mental illness but it is quite funny it would be cool if one of mine was like doing the worm yeah shit shit shit shit shit shit and i can say that because i have ocd yeah also back to snl sorry are you liking it yeah

20:38that's awesome no no it's been really fun it was amazing it was like it kind of felt like a crazy dream to do as in like a dream come true to do it but then also like it just was so mental for like two months that it didn't feel it felt like a weird like dream it's so amazing was it like it's so fucking amazing like you're so good you're amazing as well like i really someone whoever did the first episode was like yeah british people tina face was like british people just want to hate it and she was right because i think everyone did but it's so good like she can't even hate it it was interesting that like people really wanted to hate it and like i think now that it's fine and people have accepted it it's easy to be like lol about it but like actually being that week before yeah and having like vice do a hit piece about yeah about how you're gonna be fucking shit was like actually crazy also i thought vice went bankrupt like who is you like where's your what's your old uh ceo up to vice yeah where's your money open your purse open your purse why don't you where are all those offices yeah that were you know full of racial and sexual abuse oh but i you don't want to fucking fuck with jack shepp guys i feel like Maybe you don't want to fuck with Vice.

21:54Yeah. They're going to write another hit piece about me. Oh, cheers. But I think what was cool was that people, like, accepted it on the level of, like, it being a sketch show, where it's, like, you tune in and you, like, see what's up. Yeah. You see which ones you like and, like, which ones aren't for you. And then, like... Yeah. Like, it didn't fit. It felt like everyone was like, oh, it's like... Oh, it's a sketch show. And we were like, yeah. Yeah, we literally said that. Yeah, we literally said that. So it's been cool, yeah. What's your favourite thing that you've done? I'm really proud of...

22:28I'm really proud of... I love doing that scrimp character with Bella Hull. It was so fucking funny. It was so stupid. I wrote the sketch about this mum who can't stop popping her purse. And if she keeps popping her purse too much, she explodes. And I did Lil' Kim in the sketch. And I was like, we got that one, this guy won. That's awesome. And then the one that I... really proud of this one we did where we were like me and Annabelle were like two Gen Z correspondents and we like yes the joke like the joke people didn't really get it I don't think but like the joke was like about how you know everyone's like Gen Z like vape la boo boo matcha yeah it's like just taking that to the the extreme the extreme where it was like we love Bob Hoskins we love the work of character actor Bob Hoskins and I love that one do you feel like you you're now like the sort of spokesperson for gen z on the show i think it's like me and annabelle basically yeah yeah gen z but what was funny was like because we're all gen z yeah yeah that's okay yeah yeah but don't you feel like it's a weird thing where like you feel quite like embarrassed about being gen z but then when you start doing work about being a gen z you're suddenly like oh yeah like that's i actually actually fine i struggle with i think a bit not that with snl but like with gen Gen Z, sorry.

23:43Gen Z, honey. But like, I struggle with millennial humor anyway. Like I really, I find it really hard to get through. Like watching May Martin's like a torture to me. Do you know what I mean? Oh really? Yeah. Like crab fish, what is it about that? Like I'm just like, oh my God. Like what is about that? Like say something stupid. Did you see Veronica's video? I really struggle with millennial, what Veronica is cool. Yeah, the video the other day, where she's like millennials like singing when they like today i went to say i'm gonna cry alone in my room because my parents didn't love me millennials singing as they talk that's a really funny one where it's something about like i did it's like i uh i didn't get the job because i didn't i failed in the interview because they have uh i get really anxious and scared because of my childhood or something like that it's really funny it just like it That goes through me.

24:34So like Gen Z humour and also Gen Alfie humour because I'm young is really funny to me. It's like, yeah, it's like, and I think I liked that one because we did a lot of Gen Z stuff, but that one was kind of like the joke about the reception to the Gen Z stuff, which is that it's like meaningless. The baby one as well. That was so fucking funny. Oh, the twerking baby was fun. The twerking baby was good. And the hamster? Mouse? Yeah, the mouse. Yeah. I loved it. The one we like doing a subway taking apology video. I was like, that's so funny. We did this one with Jamie Dornan where we were like, we were like, we worked in a factory where we were gluing wraps.

25:07Yes. And that was like, that was like the best moment of my life. Because I just sat there pretending to glue prep wraps. Because it's the factory that glues down prep wraps so that they glued to the wrap. It's so sick. Who's been your favourite? Sorry. No, you go. No, you go. Is it the hardest thing you've ever done? I wanted to know. Definitely. Oh, God. And like, and what, and did you expect that? or like could anything have prepared you for it definitely not no i mean it was it was really um it was really hard and i think the first episode like apart from maybe like a scary court day or like the birth of my first it will be it will be like the scariest that's just the most scared i'll ever be yeah um and i didn't feel that well i did feel a bit prepared as well because i think a lot of the show is just like titting around yeah like that's like my forte yeah yeah i would have imagined the second episode to be the hardest because the first one presumably you get like a bit more time to prep and then you're like you have this huge adrenaline dump from doing the first and then it's like oh no i've got to yeah do this again in five days and then the first one was what went well so it was like oh it was like sophomore album vibes yeah but then that was when that rat the gluing raps one was yes and so i was like this is great this is awesome yeah um but yeah and you learned that you belonged and for the first time i really just looked around at that room of weirdos and freaks and and people who just like have a different kind of brain i thought i'm home yeah what made it guys the weird kids made it what meek song is that sorry i think it's called weirdo it's called weirdos and freaks call the cops up brackets call the cops are fuck them who's been your fave celeb guest they've all been great i have a really soft spot for jamie dawnan yeah and he was so great we all do we saw that film oh honey he was just like so game and like had probably the scariest lot like he was saying and he was great amy leeward was really great shooty was so game for popping his purse till exploded i am obsessed with hannah waddington yeah because i wasn't obsessed because i was like who's hannah waddington and then i just think she just ate she did tear like tear and she what's great about her is she like she really is an actress so like a lot of the ones where she was selling it oh honey those accents different accent everything yeah i couldn't believe it it was so funny her being a sunburned lawyer and just like playing it dead straight that she's a lawyer with really bad sunburn and being like like so funny so funny who would um your i this is a question i asked everyone who all of the guests but who would your dream host and musical guest be oh uh dream host

28:07Kate King no kidding Kate King Kate King Kate King just Kate King Kate King for the musical performance yeah I'd like someone to be a musical performance and a guest so I'd like Adele I just think Adele would be the pinnacle of like Adele Adelties I'm trying to think of the best musical guests on the American yeah to the musical guests on on the UK season and they didn't get involved with any comedy. But in America, they have before. It's not, like, very common, right? Yeah, they can. And we had a bit. We had Dave Grohl. Oh, my God. Yeah, fuck. Okay. Or, like, maybe guess Lena Dunham music like Ethel Kane.

28:47Oh, that would be awesome. Ethel Kane would be awesome. Like, whilst Lena Dunham's hosting. Are you kidding? Or, like, Lena Dunham in Lorde. Oh, Lorde would be great. I'd, like... It's boring, but it was the first one that came to my mind. so it's honest at least. I grew up obsessed with Andy Samberg and The Lonely Island and in spirit of Tina Fey doing it, I think Andy Samberg would be next. Okay, that would be fierce. That would be really fierce, Andy, if you're watching. Yeah, definitely watching. Oh, and then wait, you could get Joanna Newsom as the musical guest. That would be sick. Isn't she coming back?

29:23Yeah. She's coming back. Apparently it's Trap. Really? Yeah, she's doing Trap. Fuck off. Me for a second being like, really gag the gag the gag i i we've obviously known you for like a few years now me and my friend lolo came to like loads of your gigs and we've known for ages that you've been so great but like um did you i don't know i guess this sort of now there's just all these other people that uh of immediate fans of you like did you see this coming how does it feel like do you yeah carry on finish your question no i guess i'm just like does it has your sense of self-worth changed or like has it been unanimously nice to sort of get all this good feedback or are there like or is it like actually quite tricky to navigate i feel like it's been i think it's just hot i just sort of disengage a bit with it like in that way it's been really amazing but i also i think it is such like a i do feel like my lived experience of like walking around and walking down the street is very much the same yeah so yeah but it's been like in terms of whether i saw it coming no yeah obviously not louis um obviously fucking not i don't know i feel like you've low-key got like good self-belief well i feel like i'm quite motivated yeah you work hard if it wasn't snl like you definitely i mean you probably you still will but like you were in like one day and shit like you were like do you know it's true i had two lines in one day i had two lines in one day obviously i didn't know i was gonna be a huge national star but i i think if it wasn't snl we all know what it would be yeah weakest link

31:15shaggaghan yeah that's awesome yeah it'd be because think weirdly hosting me doing like the alex horn like assistant yeah i'm like the do a good anne robinson yeah yeah i could me in the wig the glasses is she dead no she was killed what is she dead yeah she was is she dead no she's alive she's not i've i know if she was dead Imagine if I made that joke. Is it still going? It's still going, yeah, but it's not hosted by her anymore. Okay, who is it now? I think it's hosted by Ramesh Ranganathan. Is it? Love him. Love him. So funny. I didn't realise how funny he was. I really like him. Have you turned on Ramesh?

31:55Who's Ramesh's mate? Is yours hanging out with? The podcast? No, the one with the guy, Rob Beckett. Rob Beckett, teethy. Not funny. Not funny. No shade. Yeah. Not throwing Rob Beckett shade with Jack Shep here. um jack jack what's like um what's next for you what do you dream of what am i gonna release an album are you gonna be one of those comedians that begs to be taken seriously and then i would love to i think that do you know um juana melina juana melina i feel like i've seen the name written down but she so she's like a musician she makes like left field weird like i guess it's like indie music like dreamy pop music but she's like i think i believe argentinian yeah and she

32:44yeah argentinian yeah and she she's like the catherine tate of argentina she's like sketch comedy yeah no way legend and like at like 40 pivoted to make like wow project sass music that's what's coming that's you yeah i'm gonna make some um ambient for sure I'd love to learn how to DJ You already can DJ You've DJed it I love my wife I want to get some Yeah that was really fun And then I was doing it On like a laptop Yeah but you were great It was really good It kind of added That you were doing it From the laptop It's quite fun to do it On the Yeah But I want to learn properly I wanted to get on my DJ Go with an iPad Yeah Yeah Yeah I want to learn how to like Do heavy metal singing Yeah Okay Can you do that?

33:28No I'm really fun My vocal cords I'm going to ENT at the minute Oh really?

33:35yeah but you have to do it like health you can't consistently do that that's not sustainable because of the flaps I would love to learn to do that or like maybe throat sing and is there anyone you're excited about in music and culture and all the rest and fingering what about you guys while I think who are we excited about I'm really excited to see Slater take over the world Oh yeah. Oh, Slater this. Slater that. She's been about since PC days. Oh my, daddy's fucked. Charlie XCX shouting out Slater. Like, wow, I didn't see that coming, Charlie. Fucking shocked me. Daddy is fucked. Where's Kim Petrus' shout out?

35:54Which said a lot. That's me, do you know what I mean? Because I didn't know it was her that came up to us and I turned around, she was just there and I was like, well, I'm trapped. Because I don't, like if I saw her across the room and someone was like, I must introduce you to Charlie. I wouldn't, I'd be like, no, please don't. Like literally I was like, do you know what I mean? So I ran away. But to be fair that is because the Bella Italia was being held at night. But I get, I feel the same. Like what am I going to say to you? Like, love you, like, stupid. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was very that. But yeah, what about you?

36:22Keir Starmer. Really? Yeah. Because you're just such a big fan of him. Yeah. He's Leng No you can imagine him In front of a computer at night But is it But when you say he's Leng Are you like That's a handsome man Or like would you let him Put his dick in your mouth He's not Leng is he?

38:10For a politician He's pretty hot Actually but then all politicians Were pretty hot when they were young. Kick him out of bed, for sure. He was making a beef burger, man. I, yeah, it's a good question. I don't know if it's... Yes. I don't know if it's because it's verse him now. No, we are on drugs. Oh, he's fucking 12 there. Obviously, he's not going to be hot there. Are you free? Maybe to you. You perv. Not me. Sue's insecure of being a nonce because she's trans.

38:43On Pride Mike? She's like, I can't, I can't I can't talk to kids Because they'll think I'm an aunt I just don't, yeah, I just don't interact with children You're good with kids though Do you like kids? I have nephews How old? 10 and 12? 9 and 12? Sorry, I'm just scrolling through pictures of Keir Starmer now And they're the best, but they're just like the best kids Yeah, I bet What would you say to Keir Starmer if you met him? I wouldn't, like I'd be like You don't need to talk to me and I don't want to talk to you Do you know what I mean? Like there's nothing to say because I wouldn't even like tell him off I'd just be like, why am I here?

39:18Like I'd be like, why am I in this room? I wouldn't go Sue, it's so good to meet you I've heard you've got a great podcast Where's Louis? Fuck knows, that's literally all Where's Louis? He's not here Like what do you want me to say? He's not come to Bar's fucking loan again, I was like, what? Where's Louis? Where was he? In Rome It was in Rome with my mum It was a family affair And also, to set the record straight, any time I go anywhere, they're asking Corsica Studios. Yeah, because it's White Girl Nailgun. Do you think she listens to White Girl Nailgun? Are you joking? There you go, where's White Girl Nailgun?

39:57Jack, where do you think, what's the sort of an area or a place where you'd get recognised most? Because the thing about me and Sue is we're hood celebrities. Hood in inverted commas, obviously. East London's are. So like, it's like, you know, venue MOT or the Spurs do. Whereas you... Chesham. I'd say you still have a stronghold in Southeast London because you're from there. But I would say you're more national than we are. You know, the honest answer to this is Broadmoor. Broadmoor? I don't know what Broadmoor... The prison. Wombard Scraps. I'm a pin-up in men's prisons. I'm a pin-up. they have a picture of me they have a picture of me in my chat pile t-shirt they have a picture of me in my white girl nail gun t-shirt above the above the toilet basin in their shared bunk for GBH good y 'all we nail gun are getting some serious problems you're welcome they'd be throwing me in wormwood scrubs like like chopped liver like chopped liver like a chunk of meat so piranhas they're obsessed with me there I don't know actually I I think probably like probably this probably the same.

41:08I feel like you'd go crazy at Nola and Peckham. Do you know what I mean? Yeah, I walk into Nola it's like someone's coming in with a gun. It's Nola the fancy coffee place in Peckham. Owned by, what's that band called? It's owned by a band. It's owned by Oh Wonder. Oh really? Really? He writes that song with Lil Loser. Yeah, Oh Wonder, yeah. Owns Nola. I know there's a time They had a song, which is amazing. Yeah, them. They own Nola. Are they from the UK? No. I don't think anyway. They're like, one of them's American at least. Wow. Oh, that's interesting. Good fact, Sue. That's a really good fact.

41:43I love finding out like famous people secretly own things. Yeah. Like Ian McKellen's pub. Yeah, Ian McKellen's pub. Or John the Unicorn in Beckham. Is that who? Rishi Sunak. Yeah. Yeah. Spursto. Ghislaine Maxwell. Yeah. Oh, my God.

42:04Ellie's. Guess who that's owned by

42:13Where's called Jimmy's Where's called Jimmy's There's something in London called Jimmy's That's owned by Don't even ask who Mustache bar is owned by The family of honey The estate Can you not think Famous moustache

42:37the estate of mama the estate of the descendants of wait Jack actually one thing I want to ask you about because I know you've done a bit on it is straight people getting too relaxed with using the word twink oh yeah let's talk about it do you think it's got better or worse I think it's actually gotten better if you feel comfortable obviously yeah um i think like two years ago it got to a boiling point where i don't know how you guys feel about this yeah i agree people were being like yeah then then she pulls up with some twink yeah and i'd be like call him a faggot yeah say it how you want it to be yeah yeah literally you're saying faggot yeah just say faggot like because you're saying it in a pejorative way also they'll say about the barriest bae you've ever seen in the woods do you know what i mean i'm like it just comes up with some twink and you see the twink and they're like they're playing with army hammer and being like okay they're in a full leather yeah they got like in a full leather look and like yeah like this twink that she's too often it's being used to refer to straight men right exactly yeah like yeah exactly coming with her twin but then there's always that thing as well there's that debate on tiktok at the minute where it's like he doesn't like you he's just gay and i'm like what are you saying like he's not gay he's just he just doesn't like you like what's it what's it to with being gay yeah or maybe he's gay and he likes you yeah this is 2026 at the end of the day but i really it pissed it used to piss me off because also like yeah i did this bit about how if you think i'm a twink then pick me up and throw me there yeah yeah it's like which is funny because it's a stand-up bit but me saying it then sounded like a spoken word piece pick me up and throw me then like then um if you think i'm so itty bitty tiny whining yeah and pick me up and throw me but i i think it has gone a little bit better but what's the what are straight people up to at the moment it's bad um do you know what i think they've like they're showing their true true colors again i feel like no one cares about pride no one gives a fuck they're showing their true colors and you know what else they're showing lower tummy oh yeah the alexander mcqueen honey the lower tummy of it the lower tummy yeah yeah the low rise gene what's going on there everyone's on his end pick week on week off i've heard this the amount of men i see with Lower tummy out The role model of it all Yeah Yeah And it's like What is it?

44:59Stephanie What's his song called? Stacey Is it Stacey? Stacey Lane Matthews Oh fuck What is it? It's like a girl's name It's like Sally Sally Stephanie Who's this? Is that role model? MX Business Gold Card, built for business by American Express. Grove House Tavern. God is so busy there these days. It's not even funny. We sat in the garden at the Grove House Tavern the other day and overheard these people along a table across going like, oh yeah and but you see that bloody steven bartlett clip it's like oh i hate steven bartlett and then they were just all having like a competition of who could hate steven bartlett more it's like no no no i hate steven bartlett and it's like okay guys we all we all hate steven bartlett i hate steven bartlett but like yeah it's okay we can all agree that we hate steven bartlett and so it was it was both funny that they were kind of having a competition to oust each other but also glorious they were really finding unity yeah community straight unity straight pride in southeast yeah yeah big time at that pub once i overheard i overheard so actually wait this this is a better story is that one time i was sat at the pub with some friends and it was like some of my comedy friends sorry so no one was laughing so no one was laughing yeah no we were laughing but we're doing bits.

47:37Okay, yeah. We're performing. It'll be really annoying. And the woman at the table next to us, like in the adjoining table, stood up and went, ugh, should we go inside? And then her friend, loudly for us to hear, went, yeah, there's only so much yes and I can take. That's fierce as fuck. You got eaten up, to be fair. I got eaten, no crumbs. I got eaten like a Mondo Sando.

48:07I thought you were going to say something. Well, I was just going to say, Jack, if you'd be interested, we have some agony aunts from our lovely listeners. I'd love to. And I think they'd really appreciate your input. I would love nothing more. And also, if you have no input, that's fine. Because sometimes I have no input, because they are just, a lot of our fans are very stupid. Right, okay. Are you ready for your first one? Yeah. Is it scary to confront the finality of death or the concept of living for eternity? Ooh.

48:40fuck shit i'm terrified of death i think i say i would say i i would say that's worse you'd want it to end at some point i don't know i mean i could do eternal to be fair i i think um think of what we could get up to yeah think of think of how much more relaxed you'd be about the pace of everything yeah yeah i think death i maybe that i don't need to be i My music doesn't need to be popping until I'm like 430 or something. Exactly, yeah. You know, I've got time. You've got time. And also, like, maybe that's my hot take is that I think I should, I think that actually death is really bad. Sorry, my wife is FaceTiming me.

49:23So thanks. Hey, Bill. Oh, my God, am I live on the pod? You're live on the pod. So sorry. No, it's okay. is the concept of death or eternal life more scary? Scary I would say death but obviously daunting eternal life. Okay good clarification. Okay thanks guys see you. See you bye. Aww. God bless. God bless. Sweetie. Have we covered that one then? I think so. Yeah. Hi Sue, Jack and Lou. I'm going through a really hurtful breakup which left me with little to no closure. We dated for a year and a half and I'm just miserable every single day. I can only ask people for advice so many times because it all leads back to time heals all, which is true and good advice.

50:12However, I'm so clueless on what to do in the meantime whenever Finn is so fresh and painful. Do you have any mindfulness tips or helpful things either of you lot did when you're going through a breakup? Any good affirmations? I really hope this isn't a repetitive question. I'll love you all. Mwah. God, that's shit. It is a repetitive question, but no, it's a good question. I would say we, I don't know if we have had this one before and that's surprising because it's a, if it's like a regular breakup, I think the thing that really helps is you have to just tell yourself it's like definitely over.

50:44Yeah. I think the worst thing people do is like when they're like, oh, it might happen again. Like no, like confront acceptance of something makes it heal quicker. Like you need to just like, this is done. I'm going to be better. In my opinion. I think I agree. conversely I would say lots of distraction is really nice filling your calendar with enough bullshit hang out with that sort of friend that you're not that sure about you know, take a chance this is the time where you need to fill your fucking calendar and then you know when we're about three weeks in then you start to introduce sort of fucking other people I was gonna say reflection and actually checking in with yourself.

51:30What? Something's going to be reflecting, right? The lube? I don't know what that's going to be. The lube, yeah. The lube. I'm a strong believer in when people go through breakups is that you have to cut them up with a chainsaw in your head. And sometimes that does mean forcing yourself to feel negatively about them. That's bad unhealthy advice. But sometimes it is like, obviously don't tell people you think they were a bad person. if you tell yourself actually they suck just at first. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You have to like actually give yourself like the gift of the ick. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Allow yourself to have that.

52:06Maybe bring a knife into your favourite pizza restaurant. See how you feel in the evening. Make yourself feel something. Yeah, carry a knife around. Just generally. Lean on your friends a lot. Don't talk to the ick. Yeah, don't do it. don't fuck him it's not fierce and i know there's all that whole thing of being like oh my god but i just want to fuck him well then fuck him like make it longer for yourself yeah suffer yeah yeah but sometimes you need to suffer but just affirmations i mean i can't all of my records have been so peaked that my affirmations are bait mine like i will read affirmations are bait oh so not so heartbreaking but also beautiful yeah i will resurface yeah i am better than i am more interesting than ketamine yeah yeah yeah my nose that was a real one i feel like i never did it but i could have been like there could have been a time after a breakup where i could have been like my nose isn't ugly it's not okay one time a boy said to me he said i think it's really hot that you don't make any effort to cover up your acne me vibes to be fair i've been there girl it's not I remember one time this guy fainted and we wait Riketane?

53:17No. Okay. Just pure vibes. Oh, right. Okay. No. I actually sorted my shit out. Yeah. I remember one time Eric said I was a bad person because I, we called an ambulance for this joint that was passed out near the hospital and we waited for him to come. And I said, oh, it's fucked up our day now because it had because we were there for an hour. And he was like, you're a really bad person. Do you know what I mean? I waited. Boring. So anyway. Pick up a new hobby. Knitting. Fingering Fingering Get a sexual exploration Get a new Sex toy Yeah Just take it easy And time does heal Like it's like the worst one But it is true It is true But you're so right That the more you fill your time with things The quicker that time will go And also Remind yourself Cynthia Erivo says this No Cynthia Erivo says No Cynthia Erivo says Cynthia Erivo says this I'll get the salad Just like something she probably said once Cynthia Erivo says this no thanks

54:20Cynthia Erivo said I think it was Cynthia Erivo she was like remind yourself that everything you do to help yourself is like self love so if you are like cooking yourself a meal but like is it self love yes it is or like going outside but like is it self love yes it is and then it reminds you that you can love yourself more than the person could love you yeah treat yourself to something yeah treat yourself to something just because you're not going Nando's with your hobby doesn't mean you can't go alone. Go to Lando's alone, honey. Yeah. How to find motivation again in something you were passionate about at 16, i.e.

54:52photography. Don't force it. If you're not passionate about it, then what are we doing? I actually think I have good advice about this, weirdly, randomly, which is that I think that when it comes to something like that, specifically like a creative thing, people become... Obviously, this is different if it was like the passion was like being an ass in which case like i don't understand yeah please go to work yeah go to a degree but like with photography or like music or anything like that i think people become quite engaged with like the optic of the doing it like the do the macro of the doing it like i'm taking like i'm gonna take pictures um or i'm gonna do the thing outwardly rather than like what the actual point of the work is yeah so it's like if you had maybe a way to reignite your passion for photography it would be like to have an ongoing photography project that actually serves a functional purpose and it isn't just that you're taking pictures yeah i want to be like successful yeah or like you go to like three gigs in a week and take pictures yeah yeah yeah i agree i think that's a really good point i would also say that surround yourself even if it's just one person with someone who's also good at doing photography and that's a that's a game changer if you've got that stalking Rankin go find out where Rankin lives and stand outside for a bit yeah you a young woman he'll love you yeah yeah yeah and you have to go to Derek Jarman's house introducing Taco Bell's new jalapeno citrus salsa with bright citrus real red jalapenos guajillo chiles usually you add sauce to the food but when the sauce is this good the food is just there to get the sauce to your mouth that rolled quesadilla not a rolled quesadilla anymore.

57:25Get a movie membership, you're fine. Do you know what I mean? It's cool. Final one is Checked his following And he follows loads Capital letters loads Of naked women Only fans And Instagram models Accounts What do I do? Who? What? Who's following? His part Like She's dating a guy Okay He follows loads of Models And only fans Oh this is fun We've never had one like this I personally think Oh I don't know It's a no from me personally Yeah I wouldn't I wouldn't like it okay interesting no because it's like with being a tranny if like a boy follows you and tries sliding your dems and you realise he follows half of trans London you're like right but also it's like but you're the most special one no but that's what they make you feel and then they get you do you know what I mean no but this is different this is like they're in a long term relationship with this person no no it feels like they're dating oh it's short checked his following and he's following loads of oh it could be anything then it's up for interpretation see on and it's only fans girls and and models and like okay yeah well it's very different i would say well cordell levine's actually starting a music career now yeah so it's fine now okay well first we're not going to demonize the beautiful people that uh the following that's not really in question um i feel like it depends a lot on how far along you are if you just started dating then it's just a conversation i i would just like what the fuck but it's it's weird because it's like on the one hand it's like it could be quite like a positive like like the dare vibe yeah sexuality where it's just like i follow them because i think they're really hot yeah yeah in which case i'm kind of on board because i think that's better than being like i just really like you but just i feel like i need to be single right now because do you know i mean i'd rather him just be like i fuck and i like right yeah but i i do think that the engagement with it it's like nuanced i think maybe you need to investigate like what his engagement with it is because it's like if it's just that he's following it because he likes to look at sexy ladies that's fine but does he have a sort of parasocial engagement with the content yeah like is he dming these girls being like nice boobs are you in london because in gay world i think it's actually quite similar where it's like i sometimes will see like like a like a male model like yeah on instagram and i'll see that like a lot of gay guys i know follow him and it's like oh shit you're just like looking about you're looking at cock on me but then that's actually kind of amazing but it also is a bit like i don't know it's the nuance but when you're in east unden like because i find that like i'll make friends and you follow each other and they are a porn star and then you're like oh i just follow another like so there's so many porn stars on my feed and it's like it's not that i'm interested in their porn it's like we know each other like Do you know what I mean?

1:00:12Yeah And they're like Yeah Like what am I meant to do? Yeah and also like Queer people that do porn They're also like running co-ops Yeah exactly Dying the hair of people But like I'm interested by what you said You said if Bill If Bill was following a bunch of OnlyFans girls Models and stuff I'd be like Well I don't know Because we're both quite gay So it's like gaga Do you know what I mean? Yeah that's the thing It's quite like She's fierce Like three faggots Yeah Yeah this is a thing but but how would you feel sorry we're getting quite personal now how would you feel if Bill if you caught Bill wanking to some porn yeah but porn's different wanking to some porn I wouldn't be bothered we've spoken about this I yeah no that's not a thing I think if he was DMing OnlyFans girls I'd be like that's probably a bit Peaky Blinders but let's assume that there's no DMs here this is purely a sort of a fan no no no in this this person's case if it's purely like I just like boobs you must think also though we can't make it about Bill because we're fucking gay like you've got to think about straight men who see women as commodity etc like not everyone is as turned on as us and now we're making rock music I guess the answer is here's what you do to this person who's asked, make a fake account AI generate lots of tits right catfish him extort him sextort him yeah um i don't really know what i'm sorry actually i'm not sure what you should do i think i'm not sure sorry i think if it bothers you then if you're if it bothers you that much bring it up if he is weird about it then just finish it oh well yeah you should definitely bring it up that's yeah bring it yeah bring it up in a jokey passive aggressive way yeah that's all good yeah yeah i saw you put up for a bunch of girls who's this who's cindy yeah oh cindy big tears like cindy lujo and then he'll probably choke up cindy lujo he'll probably choke up and i go like um uh yeah and then you don't want to be with him if he's like oh she's my mate then it's different but he might just say look I'm a big fan of her work like I subscribe to her work and then you'll be going like okay maybe I but then it's still you're dealing with straight man well and that's completely different thing it's complicated it's really complicated what if what if someone was subscribed your partner was subscribed to an early fans model yeah I feel like we would have a conversation then yeah but it would be a conversation but then I'd be like I definitely wouldn't be like yeah stop yeah no it just felt like what's the tea here then what is the tea here so you need to ask what is the tea yeah just ask what the tea is I reckon it sounds like he's horny sounds like he's fucking horny yeah good for you girl good luck Charlie oh his tummy's rumbling yeah mine did too at the same time Oh my god Jinx Jinx Jinx Which can only mean one thing Go for lunch It's time to eat It's time to eat Thank you Jack Do you have anything to plug?
