In short
Coping with London heat while chatting about recent gigs/festivals, thirst traps, performance strategy, and the meaning behind Pete Tsatsamis’ mixtape Sycophant; ends with what they’re listening to.
Guests
Pete Tsatsamis (musician/performer; makes music with a performative, crowd-led style; has played from tiny venues like Waiting Room to sold-out Village Underground; has a fear of guns and snakes/frogs; does “thirst trap” posts). Sophie (co-host; recently returned from Hungary; went to Superstore in London with friends; mentions alopecia). Susan (co-host; also discusses weekend plans and heat survival).
Key claims
Live is “tangible” once a project drops; singles are reminders, projects create emotional connection. Ticket-buying is the hardest part, but building from small venues makes growth gradual. Thirst traps should be committed, not disguised as jokes. “Sycophant” explores people-pleasing/desperation for approval, sex, success, and the two-faced feelings underneath.
Notable examples
Field Day/Arca vs Aphex Twin; Dulce Superstore; Cuba in Soho; Sheffield DIY “Depop studio” gig; Village Underground sold out; Waiting Room (75 people) vs Village Underground (700); Olivia Rodrigo “The Cure” and Kim Petras “Pop Sound” discussed.

From Deansgate to Knott's to Whitby to Rye. I finally filled the void inside. The void inside, finally fed by the pool of sweat in my bed. Welcome to the show, Tsatsamis. I genuinely thought that were your lyrics. I was like, yes! Thank you so much. I was like, wait. That's the feature. Remix album. Hi, Pete. How are you doing? I'm good. How are you going? I'm really good. It's a nice time you were on. I know, finally. We're just coping in this heat. I know. How has your weekend been?
0:49Tsatsamis:How have you been surviving in this heat wave? It was gorgeous. It was a really nice weekend. It was like the first weekend I've been out in months. like since almost like before like the campaign kicked off went to gala on saturday okay how was it it was good yeah it was good any standouts no i it was like one of the i rarely do this but i honestly had no idea who was playing what was going on the whole week the whole time but i think gala is one of those places gala and field day i think is the two festivals of like i genuinely don't know any of the lineup yeah do you know what i mean but it's like a nice day out it was very I went very last minute and it was honestly just like surviving the heat.
1:28I won't pause in the tent. I thought I was going to faint. Right. Oh my God. It was tough, but it was fun. Straight people also don't dance. Yeah. That's my only criticism. And it's also,
1:37Tsatsamis:it is good, but it is, you do struggle to forget that you're in Brockwell Park or whatever park it is. You struggle to forget, the music isn't like loud enough to make you forget where you are. Also, I just hate that it finishes at 10. You get to 10, and you're like, I'm finally settled in. Yeah, pills kicked in. Like it takes me a few hours to get like, literally, I'm like anxious, I'm like, when's it gonna happen? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm coming up, I'm coming up. And then I'm like, relax, finally it's 9.30 and it finishes in half an hour. I know, it's always the same though, it's the same with the ones in Victoria Park when like the headline comes on, they turn the music down.
2:14Do you know what I mean? Like when Charlie came on, they turned that down, honey. And everyone was like, I can't hear it. Also like if you're stood outside of like the line where the speakers is, it's just, you hear nothing. The wind blows and it goes quiet. Were you there? Were you there? Were you there? What's he called? After Arca. It was Arca and I was, it was Apex Twin. Apex Twin. Oh, the field day. Yeah, were you there? Yeah. That weekend I had tickets but we were filming the Everybody Wants a Peace of Your music video that weekend. Fuck. Which was amazing
2:43Tsatsamis:because I was like, get to film a music video. We loved it. But then it was like, this is my dream lineup. Big girl. Apex Twin was awful. it was bad really they turned it down Arca was really loud really fun I dropped a pill during Arca allegedly allegedly and it kicked in during FX20 and I was like this feels like I'm dying I feel like he like it's gonna be hit and miss there's probably like sections where it's good but then he just he was great sorry I should clarify it was just like it was too quiet it was so quiet it was the most packed I've ever felt at any live music show it was like just so crammed it's like the worst bit of East London in a park.
3:21The tote bags were flowing.
3:23Tsatsamis:Even Arca was sick, but it just didn't feel like you were there. Yeah. I just watch it from the skate park now. Yeah. Which is actually cute. It's fierce because you could do a kickflip whilst watching. Have you ever been a skater, Pete? No, I don't. Can you do a tray flip? I don't have a balance to do that. No, neither. I've got really bad balance. I thought you were going to say don't have a license. I want to check we're all in this filming, though. Uh oh, you're panicking. Yeah. That's lovely. Susan, how was your weekend? Yeah, good. I got back from Hungary. Yeah. And then I went out for bank holiday, which I never do because I hate going out.
4:03Tsatsamis:Yeah. Where were you? I went to the Superstore. What? Yeah. I went to the Superstore. I thought you told me you were too famous to go there now. I never said that because that's not true. No, we went to the Superstore. It was really fun. It was sick. Yeah. Who were you with? Oh. As with my friends, Ryan, Dino, Maisie and Patty. Oh, cool. Yeah. Nice. Fun night? Yeah, it was amazing. Yeah, I loved it. Was it busy? It got busy. When we got there, it wasn't very busy. We were like, oh, we fucked it. And then it packed up really quick. But yeah, and then there was like a queue. But it was, yeah, it was, it was classic.
4:36It was like a nice amount. A good level. It wasn't like New Year's. Have you done New Year's at Superstar? No. Oh my God, it's hell. It's like actual, well, it's funny, but like you can't move. I love Superstar, but I feel like it's so, Whenever I'm considering going I'm like I'm either gonna have to wait ages Yeah Or there's gonna be no one inside Yeah exactly There's no in between Or you go early And yeah literally wait You either wait inside or outside There's no in between I've never been to
4:59Tsatsamis:Dalston Superstore in my life We should go Oh my god we should go We should all go We should all go Root trip Yeah I would love to But as I've said on the podcast before I feel like I'm taking up space Fuck off No it's not about that Yeah yeah yeah It's also Anytime I go past it It's rammed anyway Yeah. Yeah. So like, it just doesn't look like literally like there's any space, but. I mean, there isn't, but you just kind of make do. You make do. But there was lots of good music. Yeah. Drinks were flowing. Was love in the air? Did you feel welcomed? Yeah. Always. Yeah. I mean, everyone was, yeah.
5:32Everyone was in a good, in good spirits. Yeah. Sunday bank holiday. Yeah. And then it went on till four. So we stayed till four. I was.
5:39Tsatsamis:Wow. So London Day Festivals, Dulcet Superstore. I went to Cuba last, on Sunday. What's that? in Soho it's this like really bait they play like remixes of Seer by Titanium vibe okay that's amazing that's literally amazing so amazing but we were considering Superstore or allergic to cats no no okay correct god no yeah yeah I was like no no no no hey I'm not I don't I don't have to act around pets do you want me to scatter off no no I love it I love it but if I look weird and uncomfortable I've also got like honest don't panic about the fur on your shirt because i have got limp rollers i promise i'm covered i'm a carpet right now i know yeah cuba cuba ku and they had snakes outside you see my story oh my god with tom yeah yeah i did see it i hate snakes so much they're my biggest fear did you watch the david i remember documentary that said there's snakes in the trees above the canal in east london there's snakes Honey.
6:40I know. So next time you start at the canal under trees, fucked it, babe. I know it makes me gag. It's like my biggest fear. Don't watch the documentary. Seriously. Cause when you see them, like every time I go there, I'm like, yeah, it's horrible. I hate snakes and frogs. Snakes and frogs. I'm the same. It's my biz. So walking on the canal and having snakes and there's loads of frogs. Yeah, I know they're gross. Snakes and frogs are my thing.
7:04Tsatsamis:I'm the same. Snakes for me as well. Frogs. I'm okay with. Frogs. I'm again. Spiders. Spiders. like I'm not great with them but I'm not like holy if I see a spider I can usually deal with it but snakes it's like see for me it's the unpredictability of frogs yeah they just jump they could be friendly as well and like when they come up to you like I will boot you and then they leap at your face like a cicada oh god it's when they like sat in the water and you notice them and you're like what else are you scared of Pete um Those are the two big ones I could probably say something funny But I haven't got any funny line That's okay I was like Hmm Yeah Wow Failure Failure Disappointing my parents I'm scared of death I'm Yeah I'm not really scared I'm scared of guns I hate being around Even like fake guns I went to National Theatre The other day And he had like a gun He was like Trying to kill himself And I've never been Sorry whoa whoa Slow down Slow down Oh in the play Yeah in the play Yeah yeah I went to In my head I went like Someone killed themselves I was like whoa No and he had like this gun And like he was literally In the play And I was genuinely like That's gonna bang Which one will freak me out Two is there gonna be Loads of blood Three Like it ends with him Posing with it And then it ends Like there's no banger But like the whole Yeah yeah But it's just like Guns scare the shit out of me Like the shit out of me Yeah Cause you saw a lot of them Growing up in Derby So many yeah You joined a gang didn't you Yeah I was the gang What was the name of the gang Thinkers Yeah the thinkers yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah no for sure okay so how have you been surviving in the heat wave just like taking drugs i'm so sorry about drinking for listeners you're fully covered for listeners sophie has vaulted keep on going i know just push her off just push her off i love it i love it um we're here now i was just sweating i was in um we went to vicky park and then london field yesterday nice do you get a tan yeah you're getting one succeeding I would say there's a little patch on your shoulder that's a little bit angry but aside from that it's kind of it's fresh it's part of the look I feel like sunburn especially vest related sunburn yeah it's bad I got a lint roller you're going to be so sorted out I love it she's got alopecia yeah what did you guys do how was your weekend yeah thank you for making sure I was included I just want to make sure that we're all covered.
9:31Are we all well?
9:33Tsatsamis:Pete pointed at me and just checked in. My weekend was great. My weekend was fantastic. I had a gig in the thirst trap yesterday. You were enjoying those likes, I bet. Oh, honey. Well, I was enjoying those likes, and then I flew too close to the sun, I think, because someone, I think, jokingly posted, reposted their story saying that this was misogynistic, my thirst trap. And I'm 90 % sure they were taking the piss, but I did. I was just like, okay, this is, I've exposed too much of myself online. And what felt like a very fun, confident, mindless thing suddenly was like, I'm looking at my phone too much.
10:14When you do that though, are you thinking about how like the amount of gay people that follow you? Especially like gay bears. Honestly. Or gay bear chasers. Hello.
10:23Tsatsamis:Honestly, not. Do you think about that too, actually? Yeah. Like when you guys post, is it like, the gays are gonna love this? Cause that's - I try and lean away from it sometimes. Because that's also like, I'm actually gonna name his name Depecheload. They, they out, Charlie, oh, I mean I'd say his names like that. Depecheload and Beef Chogginoth. Yeah, yeah. But those boys are the same. Like I'm like, they must know that gays are just gonna, they get eaten up. Cause they're like bears, they're attractive bears. Like I'm like, gays go feral. the face reveal yeah it popped off whoa I know I think they're the most beautiful guys but like fuck me like when you post things do you know that bears are gonna like me personally I'm definitely 100 % doing it for attention and for validation but it's not limited to gay men okay it's also women it's from anyone who will give it to me okay but I take the I take the the joke that you know it is gay baiting because you know of the hair sex sells it's yeah yeah it does what about you pete i'm sold yeah i i i i don't know i do it sometimes i'm like yeah if i want something to post really well i'll be like if i'm selling tickets i'll be like right hot picture yeah but then sometimes i'm like i don't try and rely on it because there is a lot of i get a lot of like people who are if you listen to the music i'm like interact with me fine love it but there's some people i'm like you're you're crossing the line yeah but also it's like that's the it's the game that's the instagram game i think also like on the other end of it especially with like the dolls like i've never got more likes than when i look really fish or when i'm like yeah half naked there's like one photo that has like it has like hundreds of thousands of views because i'm literally just in like a bra do you know yeah like it's kind of crazy the only thing i thought the only thing i regretted about yesterday's thirst trap was that like i put a joke on it which breaks one of my cardinal rules for a thirst trap which is if you're going to do a thirst trap just make it a thirst trap don't like try and masquerade it as a joke or like a meme just commit to the thirst yeah but you know we learn we take this we move on i thought it was a cool post i like the text thanks pete i thought aesthetically it was pleasing yeah besides really anyway yeah the way the text was centered
12:56Tsatsamis:but yeah pete my weekend was great i did a thirst trap i went to sheffield i did a gig in sheffield you went to union sheffield it's gorgeous yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah um when what did you play i played in someone's depop studio which was just crazy because it's the sort of thing that just never happens in London like so basically for context this guy called who makes music under Cleaver Blue who came to a gig I did at the George Tavern was like please come to Sheffield I run a night I'd love you to play I was like that sounds great it's a DIY gig it's in his friend's studio which he sells clothes out of and I was just like this would never ever happen in London no no no not a collab just literally just to use the space they put on a night and they run it out of the studio and there's nobody there on a Saturday so it felt very DIY but it was in a part of Sheffield which was like very microbrewery Neapolitan pizza Depop studio I couldn't tell you Fish Island and Hackney Wick I swear there's one I swear there's one in Sheffield I was right opposite a bar called Factory Floor and something Social Club Let me get you a limboller I actually have one in here I feel so bad for you Wow Did the gig go well?
14:28Tsatsamis:It was my favourite gig we've ever done It was so fun Really? It was the first gig I've done outside of London I mean Northern Crowd is just so good They were very receptive They were very sweet I was surprised that there were straight diva fans there really I didn't know straight diva had fans in Sheffield What's your life setup? Is it you and someone else? It's me so me and will write all the music and then um We have yeah, no keep keep rolling. You're good. Keep rolling and then we have uh terry on synth, but she was in china and we had maximum violin but not like a windmill violin like a chanel beads like delay psychedelic violin um but no it was great and i i loved sheffield very briefly of what i saw it did you how long did you were you in and out or did you yeah and spent most of our time there in like a 50 meter radius around the venue but went out for drinks after at some place called the halley uh yeah on um on the strip yeah yeah which was really fun and then yeah i didn't get to see as much of it as i liked but it just i don't know i don't know if either of you resonate with this but like in terms of like when you're coming up in london it's like oh you play you play like one of like five venues and it i don't know it kind of feels like okay i guess we'll play the george tavern again yeah which is great love the george tavern but it sort of feels like if you get booked in somewhere like sheffield or anywhere around the UK, it feels a little bit more special.
16:01Tsatsamis:Yeah. Because someone really went out of their way. There's no like sort of network connections thing happening. Going out of, someone coming like very deliberately to see you outside of London is like, oh fuck, this is not just like on Instagram. Right. Or like friends of friends or shit like that. Where is your favourite place you've played outside of London? um i mean glasgow and manchester i always love doing and because glasgow started because of talia so there's like a lot of people from that connection and then manchester is always just really good um where have you played in manchester i played a fair few times the yes downstairs and upstairs the pink which one's the pink one the upstairs one that's where i just played a couple weeks ago was it fantastic good I think cuz this time this time around I played on Friday and Saturdays and the energy is like black and white is crazy there was like a mid set on core with something about a boy it was I was like whoa it felt like everyone was like locked into the performance it was so do you get that actual feedback from yeah do you feel like because i know one thing i love about you live is that you don't need the crowd to like like i feel like when i've done headline slots i feel way more free and like uh able to lose it a bit whereas if i'm on early i'm like a little bit more restrained but like you don't have that you're you can sort of you can go any gig any room and just yeah you're I feel like you both are though Like I don't Whenever I watch you You're so good at just like Getting the crowd But then I don't know if that's a good thing I think I just I move then That's legit Because ultimately people want to be led Yes yes And you do have to read the eyes Break the eyes I'm getting better at it but it took me a long time I think you're very good at it But I mean, it's like when there's a full, like London is always so easy.
18:16If it's a headline set, it's so easy. When you're doing something like. Yeah, regional. Other ones, you kind of have that like. Yeah. I'm better at this time around, but. Nasty. It took a while to get there. Or self-discipline, like. Yeah, I just say something nasty about the crowd. Like in a fun way. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like dance faggot. And then I'll like dance and I'm like, oh, it's fine. Fucking who goes, ugly. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's carry on. yeah or be like hi nottingham i heard your old cousins here
18:49Tsatsamis:do you know what i mean what oh fuck welcome to what was your ollie moore's bar that was really good it's hard it's hard running out um it was literally like hi i'm ollie moore's and this is bonkers i don't know what it was what did i say something about ollie moore's i usually i used to doing the naked attraction one hi i'm still i'm on one with two from sheffield um and i'm so excited to be here on naked attraction that get that broke the ice immediately i used to do that all the time how many did you get me to i need you to write some icebreakers okay yeah fuck it do you do do any uh bits how much do you speak i've actually this time around i'm trying to speak less yeah because i would always walk on and instantly be like hey yeah hey how's it going everybody How you doing?
19:35I'd be like really, but I think actually, especially with the headline ones, it's easier to like, I'll try and leave it like three songs, which is fucking hard. Cause normally I get to like the, after the first chorus, I'm like London, what the fuck? But I think it actually, I'm playing more with like, playing more with the tension of not speaking. No, it was fierce though. Honestly, your show, like it was, it's chic. Like it is actually chic to not speak. So the thing is though, especially with London, like we had lights and like just the bigger stage, bigger venue. it's way easier to not to like lean into like the ambience and to like not say anything for three songs but it was it's like such a conscious effort because normally i'm very much like anyway that was that one yeah that is so me yeah it's so you're like break having you're like as soon
20:19Tsatsamis:you stop singing you're like cool yeah yeah yeah you're adding more mystery as well yeah yeah but it helps i saw i was watching some videos back and like in the instrumental moments when i'm fully locked in i was like whoa yeah that looks fucking amazing hell yeah that's me yeah how was the village underground show specifically that looked mental it was fucking insane it was so good and it was such like uh it was like as like the whole campaign was kind of leading up to that because it was like the big moment i've genuinely been dreaming of it for like years yeah and then it went like as well as it could have it was amazing it was so it was also i feel like you have such like because i was like backstage and your energy backstage is like when i'm backstage i'm like really like don't talk to me yeah i like can't talk i was like that before when did you came i honestly felt like you weren't like that i think you were like you were managing the space really well and you weren't like obviously you weren't like hey like well you were kind of was yeah i think you took yourself to the side and it was like everyone was having a key and you were just like yeah it felt really mellow i actually found this time around because i've had more people around like throughout the process it's really helped me not freak out as much yeah because beforehand i would fully like be like wouldn't be able to eat would not walk that's me the whole day yeah whereas now there's more people and just like more things to sort out and it kind of just like distracts me so then i'm kind of like able to be yeah yeah and also i think in my head i'm like i've done this before i know that like i'm gonna get nervous but like i'm everything's gonna be fine i've rehearsed for this i don't know if you find this but like i feel like this is might make sound like a fucking awesome system maybe it's true but like when you play like a venue that's full sold out like it's also your fucking show village underground that you sold out i'm like i could genuinely like go out there and fuck up 15 times and everyone would still have my back anyway yeah do you know what i mean i think it's like i don't every time i'd play like i play like nottingham pride to you two years i think it's always like packed which is great but i go now on that stage is like so much easier than going out like on a support slot for somebody that like the room's half empty right because it's like yeah you feel like you're on home yeah and also you just like that they're all here like there's so many people that it's like it doesn't seem there's no connect that i'm actually going to make do you know what i mean or like i don't know how to explain it i think i think it's that feeling of being like i know that people are already like you the only way is is higher than what's already there for sure so it's like just like being in a group when like there's such a good social dialogue going on there's already an existing dialogue and so going in there's just like an immediate back and forth that you can have even if you're not saying anything you kind of you can feel it in the room which is good yeah it was sick it was amazing when you did that period oh my god yeah yeah it was i watched i watched the george michael faith tour like the night before yeah and i saw rosalie reference wow and oh my god i was literally like like no matter how hard i think i'm working like you can yeah and she and and one thing with her is her whole set it was just such a good balance of like having really intentional like internal sincere periods and then she would like seamlessly like have a joke with the crowd yeah and then she'd go back into this and then it'll be a high energy moment and it was like so well balanced and so i was like okay like it's it's fine to like not speak for four songs and to like just be completely in the music because it allows the crowd to have those moments also i feel like again come back to the point of like there were a shitload of people there to see you you almost don't have to explain yourself half as much because yeah yeah because they're your because they're your listeners like do you know i mean they're the people that follow you like they know what the song is about because they would have seen it or they've listened to it and relate to it hence why because i posted a thousand tiktok yeah this is that feeling you know when well i wanted to ask you because like i feel like in in the current musical landscape right yes uh i think that live is the hardest part like the buying a ticket right is like the hardest thing to do and you do that like really well like how have you how have you done that apart apart from being great
24:40um i honestly i like i mean thank you i think it's it's still a fucking slog i'll tell you that yeah but and it's it was it i will be honest it was noticeably harder this time around than last time around i think i mean maybe because just bigger venues but like yeah you did a village
24:56Tsatsamis:underground which is fucking huge is it 1500 village underground no no no 700 oh still
25:0775 ,000 hard sale
25:09Tsatsamis:700 is loads though It's fucking insane It's fucking shitloads of people And being in that room and seeing people wrapped around the back I was like I actually kind of dissociated for the first song I was like this is Happening right now But I think it's I don't know I think tangibility is like People want more and more Things happening all the like in real life i don't know i think but i think it's also a i think it's like it's years it's a years long process like i've played so many smaller venues done loads of supports and so you build up this my i mean my guess i can only guess but like i've done loads of shows so people will go to one and hopefully want to come to more and then bring their friends and i noticed like the same people coming and the groups like expanding yeah i presume it's just that like Like, me and Sam were actually talking about you and also - The cack man.
26:07Yeah, that's your cackle. I was speaking to him about you in particular because you did a gig with Amara at Windmill Brixton. Oh my God. And it's nuts to know that like, you are absolutely smashing it, selling out Village Underground and Amara's like in fucking Switzerland at the minute. On a mountain. On a mountain. Getting millions of streams. Yeah, getting millions of streams. Flying to LA. I'm like, babe, what the hell? I know. and like it's just like weird to be like it's so weird because i remember being younger and going to like gigs such as that one and being like one day people are going to be gagged that this happened and then like now getting to a point where it's like oh that in a few more years people will be gagged that that happened do you know what i mean it's actually happening so interesting do you know what i mean about that fun that gig as well i literally came i was like really working out my like aesthetic on stage i'm not like naturally like inclined as like a stylish person or i just like don't think about clothes and then for that gig i was like trying different things and i was wearing like a work shirt and like jeans and like the shirt was tucked in it kind of and basically i arrived and the guy who was running the night was like oh you're gonna get changed have you just come from the office you're gonna get changed no no you don't know this is my gag
27:21Tsatsamis:you don't need to take style tips from the person yeah well no exactly yeah but at the time i was like i would get so stressed but it's interesting you say that because i always think like in hindsight it's like people enjoy the it's like when you look at videos of like chapel i keep on getting like chapel rowan archive yeah and you can see her on stage and it's like she's performing the same songs but she's like clearly like in the middle of working out like what this aesthetic and what this like persona is and it's so amazing to see and it's like actually that's nice like people especially at this level at our level yeah you want to see like development yeah but people don't like a high budget finished project straight away they want to feel part of it but yeah exactly i feel like when people come straight out the bat as well you know development deal finish that all these are like these young kids like coming out with like high budget tees i'm like girl like it's not relatable i don't think it is relatable in my opinion but well at least for people like us because like with sort of people that like would would go to a gig at the waiting room or something yeah if you go into development maybe it is yeah skip that but i just yeah i think it is interesting what i yeah i just me and sam like reminisce on that because it was like yeah that's like crazy like that won't not that that won't happen again maybe it will but i it's past that now which is nice to see like congrats it's huge but who's on who's on your like reference board for the sort of performer that you've become if you were still working it out when you were doing the show at the windmill i mean like who do i reference for yeah honestly like george michael hell yeah period wake it up that would really look because i've always it's funny i i watched videos so i did the tour was like friday saturday glasgow manchester and then the next friday was village underground and in between that time i was like watching videos myself back and i was like oh i'm moving but like i'm still a bit like tense in my upper body or when i'm singing i'm like i'm like holding still trying to hit the notes and then i was i literally like went and i watched the loads of tour videos from his tour and i was like he's he's just like yeah he's constantly like moving around and like putting his whole body into like every lyric and it was such a and i think that is like inherently the way that i move like when i listen to music or just dance and so i try to find find that and like yeah and then like freddie and like you know freddie and rio yeah in rio yeah oh in rio i thought you said in rio in rio who the fuck is rio you haven't seen queen in rio no no what i bet it's not so it's one of it's i think it's one of the biggest gigs of all time like before gaga did no madonna did it madonna broke the record for madonna broke well queen queen did like 10 nights in brazil or something and it's like something the maddest video i've ever seen really insane seas and seas of people um but they do bohemian Rhapsody and they don't do the middle part live they just go off stage and thank god thank god skip that shit um but no he is he is incredible but I so it's interesting to hear you say that like it's not or I think use the word slog which I'm sure it hasn't been but like I remember discovering your music when Faith came out and you were doing a show at the waiting room I think yeah and waiting room to village underground is a huge jump and that is that is the project before this right or there's a missing one yeah that was the so that's a huge huge jump like yeah I did Oslo in between okay it was like sorry two waiting rooms in the April and then in October I did Oslo but for context for context for people who don't know waiting room is like 75 people Yeah, it's like underground the pub.
31:12Underground the pub. Underground.
31:14Tsatsamis:The three crowns. Underground the pub. It's 32 degrees right now. Yeah. For anyone who's not with us. But the waiting room is like a, it's right of passage. Yeah, for sure. It's amazing. Shout out Big Softie. Big Softie. Big Softie just fucked it up, which is fierce. Did you go? I couldn't go. I was invited. Yeah, I went. Yeah, it was just amazing. People lose their minds. I was running the hackney off. Yeah. How was it? Boring, fine, slow, arduous, dystopian. We then did a video like kind of slagging off the festival. Well, it was mainly me, I'll be honest. Slagging off the festival site for being slightly kind of garish and people taking it too seriously.
31:59Tsatsamis:And then did a little jokey rant as Straight Diva does. Did they contact you? No, no, no, no, no. Not officially. Did the sponsor commentate? Pippin the peanut butter You know The peanut butter is on the comments I love them They make great peanut butter But no I superimposed a picture of Pippin Because basically When you finish The whole time at the site They're making it like a festival site Like where the finish line is It's the start and the finish At the same place Hackney Marsh is And they're playing like house music that you hear in like a pure gym and they're like they got MCs on it and every two minutes they're talking about fucking the it's the creamiest nuttiest crunchiest peanut butter to get you through and I'm like I don't need this right now I've just they give out free samples missed opportunity but they sponsored fucking dinner by Ben to do it get your bag dinner by Ben I'm gonna get you girl But Louis was getting DMs From straight people Being like What was the point Shit like that Yeah is this necessary Is this necessary For you slagging them off For me to slag off The running community It's just straight pride though Isn't it And you just send them back A picture of you In your underwear Well I don't think Any of these people Know that I was actually Running the marathon The half marathon myself But anyway That's why I wasn't A big softie But I do love Big softie They're amazing I just love it When they do the The underwear gag It's so funny.
33:34You're gay this time, Sophia. Good. It's so good. But yeah,
33:39Tsatsamis:waiting room is 75 people and you went to Village Underground which is 700 people so congratulations. Massive. Thank you. O2 Arena next. Yeah, hello. 11 nights at Wembley. 35 nights at MSG. Come to Brazil. Do you know what I mean? 35 nights at MSG, run around with a really, really long mic cable and just run around. Did you? I'm not even going to do it. I'm not going to touch it. it i love him because i want to support him yeah yeah i know i know every time i'm like no yeah yeah no love yeah i do love him but yeah wait but sorry before we go to kind of maybe uh music culture uh was there any like moment where it felt like it sort of got bigger in that in that waiting room to uh village underground or did it feel very gradual when i dropped the mix so listened to the sycophant mixtape like a month ago there was it was those are the two big moments like just playing live you just get a buzz people especially after the london one there was just like it was like oh such a relief because i was like i mean you guys get it when you're making music you're doing it with like no dialogue no like validation or just like encouragement because you're just doing it yourself and like people around you'll be like this is great but there's kind of it gets to a point where it's like i spent like the last year and a half just writing kind of doing stuff working and then like the beginning of this year when i was like just starting to release one just before i was like going insane because i was like this feels so like it's not going anywhere but obviously i hadn't released anything but then when you release a project and you and you play live that's like the often the first time people are hearing it or like getting it especially as a project like when you drop a project it just like singles are good but i've more and more i feel like unless you strike gold and get a viral single yeah a single is kind of just like a reminder that something is coming and then when the project comes out everyone like yeah everything just like yeah you can't like yeah it realizes it makes it tangible as you say and people like prepare that people like revise for a gig they're like yeah yeah no yeah exactly and people just talk about it and like it's like a physical emotional connection like there's nothing it's those like those are the two huge like turning points but don't you feel like i feel because i think exactly the same as you as watching you do it and get the project out like it completely changed the game similar i know we just mentioned it before but amara like amara's been released singles for fucking years yeah she releases this project and like the game's turned up pussies up she's just got signed she just got flew out to la like yeah you you see that shift it's so weird but then it's so interesting because i know that we all kind of like started writing music at the same time perhaps or like putting out music whatever and i think there was a time where everyone was like single single singles and now it's like project project project it's like it's insane the way that things have like changed i think already it's just there's so much noise all the time that like and i get it because like it's the way that i also consume music like i'll see people post a single and i'll be like okay cool like i'll listen to the track i might listen to i'll listen to the snippet i might listen to the track but like i will i come back to albums yeah if i'm moving around like i want to listen to a whole project and i think even if i love a single i often will just where i'm when i want to enjoy music i enjoy it within the context of like where it's not enough to fully hook you in yeah sink your teeth into as you say to on it um but like have you are you a performer first or like a writer first i think kind of i go in between both when i when i started making this mixtape i had come off the back of the last like mini tour and my like big realization or big like motivation was i feel so energized on stage and i want to bring that energy into when i'm making music and so i'm still like i think i definitely did it to some extent but more and more i'm like I want to bring that like performative live feeling into the music.
37:52But then like at the same time, there'll be, if I'm, my lyrics and like where I write from is very introspective. And that comes from like a very like me just like writing or journaling or whatever. So it's kind of combining those two things.
38:06Tsatsamis:Yeah. I remember it when speaking of like real moments and that waiting room show, I wasn't there, but I remember seeing loads of videos of you performing Faith and even though that wasn't a real moment of me experiencing it it felt like oh shit this is real when you have sometimes like Faith and Angelina are like they just do so much they just like it's I think having those songs with a project around it that's like the tentpole Faith has moved the project Faith and Angelina were both like Oh like something's moving But you need like things around it to stick But yeah I mean every time I perform Faith And now Angelina is crazy And Pete your mixtape is called Sycophant What is a sycophant?
38:58It's I mean obviously a play on the word sycophant But
Read the full transcript
39:02Tsatsamis:Which I'll be real with you We had to look Neither of us knew what sycophant was I mean and have you been cozying up to rich people yeah okay that's is that is that an incorrect definition i mean or a different definition i think maybe maybe my definition is this is where i'm like wait have i got the word right no i think it's kind of about it's i mean it's typically what i enjoyed about it was when i was writing the mixtape i was exploring these feelings of like being a bit of a like a people pleaser and a bitch and like sometimes being a bit two-faced and like toying with like the negative parts of my personality and just like taking the piss a bit and like like spit or kiss was the moment when i was like okay this is like this is quite like a fun idea to play with this idea of like wanting someone's approval really badly and like bitching about them but like if they like you then it's going to be complimentary complimentary yeah and i think being like sycophantic i think often gay people can be quite sycophantic or like i and i don't say that negatively like i say that as like i identify with the world a lot in like there's like a graft behind it like wanting something which ultimately comes from a place of me feeling like i'm lacking something yeah and so like sycophant is like the top line of like these negative emotions but like everything underneath it is like oh i'm feeling like less than or i'm feeling desperate there's like a desperation in the word and like in all of the music that's something which is kind of like carries through whether i'm desperate for like social approval or like success or sex or like all of those things tick tick tick so i think that's kind of like what the word means to me yeah and it kind of just felt like this interesting place to like web everything together fierce an inception point yeah yeah and so i think what was the inception point for i'm not rich enough to have shame being a bag being a bag kind of i think so being a beggar's here being a beggar being a beggar and having to like sell your puss you have to sell it's very like the podcast tease everyone knows my deepest darkest shit I don't think I've not shared anything online like I might and it's that it's like not being yeah it's just like I'm not rich enough to not do that yet when I'm rich enough to do that I'll be quiet thanks babe when you first sent it to me I was like yeah so he's very good at coming up with names I don't know whether it's an episode or children I'll name your children I thought you hated kids I know I've decided that I could actually have kids Wow Have you got saved names?
41:59No I've not got that before yet But I just thought to myself I told Bill that When I went to go see him in Hungary I said to Bill I was like genuinely You know things go the way I hope they do Yeah Because he
42:16Tsatsamis:He He loves kids. Yeah. We both don't want kids, but we were just saying it's more like, if I get in a position where I feel like I've done a thing I need to do and I'm like financially, I'm talking about like great financial stable. Like I wouldn't have kids unless I was like, like stonking rich. Do you know what I mean? But if I get to that place. Sorry, what was, I don't understand what the turning point was. I don't know. I was in bed watching TikToks and I was like, why can't I have kids? I've always been like, I just couldn't see myself having kids, but sometimes I get a wave of like oh like that would be it's whenever there's a video on tiktok of like a parent and their child and they're speaking to them like yeah adults yeah for sure yeah I hate it when the whole like yeah yeah or when people aren't or like being too I just know like I see people like parenting their kids I'm like I do that better people what their kids like parenting their kids I'm like I do that better oh yeah like you know when people are like you know like soft I don't think soft parenting works I obviously don't believe in you in the comments being like yeah yeah fuck you yeah yeah no I don't know I just think I think there's so much like I just thought I couldn't and so like who knows hell yeah but I'm not I don't want it's not like I want kids but I'm open to the possibility of them though it'd be good for the brand get a get a baby on I'm not rich enough to have a shame yeah just like you're the baby in one hand youngest person to get a Grammy ever
43:45Tsatsamis:and Pete what are you listening to at the moment are you a sort of musician that is like not I feel like you are listening to a lot of new music but am I wrong I'm still in this phase of like I often and this is kind of like an algorithmic thing like I kind of I don't I'm not thinking I'm not actively searching as much as I typically like might be when I'm making music i'm kind of still in this like interesting you'd look more when you're i think so yeah or like i'll listen more consciously to be like right if i'm trying to push the music in this direction i will listen to you know a thing which whereas now i'm kind of a bit like the sun's out jeep by kim petrus oh it's so good maybe we could drive around we were talking about this before lit i I fucking love Pop sound It's so good But she says pop sound's not on detour Which I will kill myself It's all I'm going to be honest I'm kind of a new I've always been a fan No me too I'm not tapped into the law No so I'm so on Kim I've always been on Kim But basically this whole thing is We can just drive around Listen to Listen to Eminem Listen to Sex in the parking It's when she goes, it's when she's like, like a long island.
45:08Yeah. Iced tea. She's the best.
45:13Tsatsamis:It's playful.
45:16But she basically got told by the label she can't release her shit. So she just started releasing it on SoundCloud. And then obviously it started popping off because everyone's like, yeah, fuck the label. And then the label are obviously like, come back, come back. just kidding we still own your masters but we there's a song called Pop Sound which was the first she dropped I believe and it is genuinely the best song that's come out this year hands down we can play it now Pop the Pop Sound baby it's not released then we can play it yeah but she did yeah oh yeah of course by Margot XS oh no and Frost Children oh my god they're so
46:06It's the drop
46:11It's so good I'm getting shivers Oh yeah we can't even get sued This is funny
46:21This
46:28I feel like she's just like locked in. She's so on it. It all has like clicked. Yeah. Oh, 100%. This.
46:38I just think it's hard. I cannot wait to walk back in my headphones and just be like. It's so good. And then there's a bit at the end where it's like, I wake, I tweak for your sound. It's fucking like the pop melodies. She's on different at the minute And she has a song called The Star Really? Yeah Jeep is amazing Polo, Polo So good I only literally only know
47:03Tsatsamis:Is it out of my head she has with Charlie? Out of my head Oh it's on Lock It Yeah She's been doing For time But I feel like it feels Like same with Slater It feels like everything's just like They're coming back to the girls and the gays This is a T Yeah Also the other song I'm fucking obsessed with The Cure By Olivia Rodrigo Uh oh You're speaking to the wrong audience I don't think you are anymore though I am bumping it Really? But can I take it correct Let me The law I love Olivia Rodrigo Oh what? Sue hates her No I don't But can I explain Do you know Are you a fan of The Cure The band? Oh no I don't know this Because She's obsessed with them But I know You love them Yeah But no So Olivia I think was like became obsessed with him brought robert smith out i was there last year it was insane yeah but then this song is like a massive it's just like the play on what the playfulness the play on words of like obviously the cure but like the guitar the way that she's singing yeah strumming yeah the massive nod or her logo is like a reference to the yeah an homage my two worlds colliding the cure is the one where it's like suck the stuff out my blood whatever yeah I'm unwinding I hated it honestly I think the verse When I first listened to it I was like this is so snort And then I started listening to it more And I'm like This is the best thing I've ever heard in my life It's so good It's so good It's so good Also sometimes I'm just like I love being like Like Teenage heartbreak Honestly She's in it Also I think I love her because I think She's so She's like so committed And you can tell There's like Oh yeah she's like in it Work Oh it's so sick The end you just wanna like run to do you know what i mean and i'm like i'm broken i'm literally like in like i'm literally in a committed relationship like what if i meet you and i need to leave yeah i need to leave um no i think we're breaking up for 24 hours yeah yeah no we spoke about the first single yeah drop dead didn't move me and i i loved drop dead and sue didn't love it and sue made a fair criticism which is like uh why doesn't she work with someone else i would love apparently she has so maybe i'm wrong but like from the first thing i think she like referenced a song i think which she's done in deja vu i feel like i'm just like if you reference just like heaven yeah i would just i would really just like love for her and she's worked with the same producer three albums now right yeah i get yeah i get that i'm i it's so interesting it's like the same with jack antonoff it's like because they obviously must just be amazing in the room as producers yeah They bring just like a solo star.
49:40Yeah. No, we love it. You don't have beaches? I love beaches. I still listen. Oh no. To Merry Christmas, Please Don't Call. Yeah, banger. Throughout the year. Don't take the money. So good. I love him. Rollercoaster. I don't know these songs. The remix album that he did with. The oldest. I'll send you back. Oh, the remix album he did of Terrible Thrills Part 1, Terrible Thrills Part 2. And it's like Charlie's on it. Sia's on it. There's so many. He remakes every single one of his songs With like a Tinashe's on it It's fierce I need to see I need to see like a week live stream Because How is he so prolific I actually don't understand Like the process Of how he Is how he makes the songs so big Like that's why I love Bleach The sound is It's so big It's so energetic It's massive It's vast Sorry we're playing footy Footy Can we get a foot cam over here Foot cam
50:29Tsatsamis:I love Jack Antonoff As a producer I think it's maybe be slightly unfair on my part anytime i see him doing music videos for bleachers oh see i love it i'm like it's not it's not making sense a converse and i call it and i'm just oh yeah it's very like it's just very like bruce springsteen the new music is just bruce springsteen yeah it's for sure i mean he's got a feature yeah but i do i do i find it refreshing how because he's new york i think yeah and i i like that i think just that part of that brand it's fun because like considering like everything is la yeah i think he's so fit as well souls really yeah i thought he's even fun i would just i would honestly just like want to listen to him talk oh my god yeah and i think he is like i watched the zane low interview the day found his interview with fake mink really funny i haven't seen that i've just seen clips but it's like the one time i've been like okay you can actually like take the piss out of someone a little bit okay because fake mink like i mean he is like 20 years old but he says he says some kind of crazy crazy shit and zane lowe just laughs in his face i was like oh my god like when fake means i'm putting london on i'm like yeah yeah yeah but sorry zane lowe and jack antonoff but jack antonoff he's speaking a lot about like the state of the music industry and it is and it's like it's refreshing to hear someone because i think he like he's really approaching it from the right place of like not just ai but like the the importance of like playing live yeah and like the connection people have like where where the music it like begins in the studio and how important it is just to be like it's just about like making something really fun in the room yeah and then like obviously because you then have to put it through this system of like the industry and then you get you then get the reward of like the live side at the end yeah but i think he clearly has done he's just got like a really good process to like separate the two and and like make sure that the creation is like it comes from a really good place yeah i think he's sick he he's uh he's really having renaissance right now um yeah yeah for bad reasons oh well no are we talking about bleachers i'm saying because on the podcast you were like he uh he allegedly uh cheated on yeah that's what i mean i feel like AI comments well what am I on about he's never he never went away he was always who Bleachers no Jack Antonoff yeah Bleachers yes yeah but Jack Antonoff conversely to what I just said stays at the top yeah I mean for the last 10 years everyone Florence this is what I mean like how how did you act like how did you have the time five albums came out in like the space of three months he must just give people like we've got two months let's go like it must just be like we need to do the whole project there and then and here I am I'm like re-recording.
53:20Yeah. Being like, being like, hmm, like that synth sound. The cup is a bit too low. I'm like, fuck it, girl.
53:28Tsatsamis:Jack will fix it. Yeah. Have you listened to the new Charlie XCX singles? Yeah. So have you? I have. 26. Have you got something to say on them? I love them. I love them. Oh, I thought you, okay. I absolutely love them. I thought you wanted to talk about them. Spring, summer i'm like really excited about i want the project though yes i think rock music i was a bit like i love it but it was it was very thy slaughter and now and then hearing it alongside spring summer i was like okay i see where you're going and like i'm feeling more like the the lyricism is really refreshing yeah um and like a bit of like a perspective shift from her i think It feels like a bit of like It's coming from like a Yeah like she's like commenting on What I like About both of the singles and I hope this Doesn't sound rude because she's Like literally my mother Is they feel underwhelming But in the best way I think it's all very Necessary like when I watched the video spring summer 26 I was like the video is so high glamour And the music is so like Yeah it's amazing Yeah she looks unreal she's she's almost what you're saying earlier about artists like she's hit the jackpot like what works for her yeah how she looks the best like she looks amazing i also i really i do really enjoy the rollout of i think they're they're very she's like so aware of releasing after everything that happened yeah and i think she's just being very clever about being like this is us having fun in the studio like yeah you know what you're gonna get yeah what are you expecting yeah yeah for sure i think it's like resetting it's like for sure and i also think it must be really weird being her because it's like she changed the way like the amount of people that are trying to do brat like not even i'm not even talking about musically but i'm even like the rollout like kesha was turning everything pink and then like who also is doing it as well my friend literally messaged and they're using the same company she used for brat and they're basically doing the same thing who is it it's literally the same company but it's very interesting to watch all of that happen and like how she looked at marketing no one will ever be able to draw something pink on a wall or like a different colour on the wall Olivia Rodrigo tried it with like initials on the wall and it's like you just can't do everything we were together when the bratwool we fell to the floor we fell to the floor when she started writing lord on the wall we felt we were together we were literally we were like I'm sorry there will never be that summer that was amazing and I think this is also what was so I like still speak about this all the time just that campaign the way that it was like it just things I think what was so special about it was like it created so many in-person moments that were then translated online so like obviously everyone's discussing it online but everything that happened was happening people at the wall yeah yeah yeah release all of the parties happened in person like yeah the release day parties didn't she pop up at the Lexington she was at literally she was at Superstore and the Lexington hanging off and I can't post it because I'm like brand i'm like legitimate i can't be seen to be i was like my fingers were like there's a picture of me the photo that um was used on the spotify players you can see my hands you can see my hand literally like that's a great bit of law oh god it was amazing it was really amazing are you saying just charlie or are you saying generally for like pop music of that summer i know i think i'm i'm thinking about charlie but like i'm yeah in general but it has it's like completely changed the way that labels talk about marketing like it's set the bar higher and everyone is kind of and even me like everyone's like okay how can we yeah like the way that remix albums i mean yes people were doing it that way before but it was just her though i remember it is like the blueprint yeah did one so our last is just on one no but pink pantheris did one before brat did she yeah i mean that's i mean like she didn't she wasn't the first person to do remix album in in the way the way everything's reinvented but it was the strongest yeah it was just and i think what felt what worked so well is like it genuinely felt spontaneous it was like oh fuck like and randy wants to be on the track like let's fucking get out yeah like it was happening and people felt like they were part of it yeah exactly the only thing i wish that she did was get a chapel feature that's the only thing i wish they probably tried it but i feel like because everyone thought the billy feature was having her yeah moment as well you're right that summer was fucking that's what i'm saying because primavera was her chapel can't talk about it still oh i wasn't i just can't talk about it i wasn't there either i had a mentee bee that weekend oh no i went on another holiday it was no all of my friends went individually i love sue with all my It was the most pathetic I can't talk about it It was a nervous breakdown I can't talk about it Like it still breaks my heart Like I have to miss The first day Wait it was a breakdown Because you weren't at Primavera Or because No there was one impending anyway It was a FOMO induced Sorry No it was No it was But it like hit so much Can you imagine All your best mates there Send me selfies I would be the first one To put my hands up and say I would be the same Babe I was so mentally I had to go on holiday Like I flew out Where did you go To my mum My mum was in Bulgaria So I flew out to see my mum And turned my phone off for a week Honestly fair I was furious Like I still can't talk about it Could you not get tickets It was a ticket Yeah Because I could have gone But like yeah Tickets was like impossible People weren't selling It was also like gay mecca Like Oh it was insane Like honestly I still can't talk about it Oh I saw more I saw more people That weekend Than I did Walking around London Fields But this is the thing In Primavera I'm so excited for this year Just so people Are you going this year Yeah of course Same Yay As of like a week ago Oh my god yeah I'm going But I'm going this year So people stop talking about Last year as much So I'm like yeah Primavera I was there ha ha ha ha ha but I'm going the day I'm not going I'm not doing it on those stories day one yeah I'm like get them in like I'm already like touchdown location Barcelona are you staying in Barcelona for a couple days after no I'm in and out it's because my friend like I'm going with my friend he's doing press oh shit so I got fucking lucky fab yeah we're going and then we're going stitches oh my god it's bear week after you're joking it's bear week or it's like the same week every there's a bear week oh my god it's bear week in sit oh wow i'll be at bear week i told you i'm a bear typically it falls that every time that it's like the same post promote good sitchers is there's a me and my boyfriend going to bear week what maybe i will extend my trip yeah you should we just got a hotel quite cheap as well as it is oh i'm gassed there's a square in sitchers called judgment square and it's so good it's like just filled with bears it's just cafes and it's fierce judgment square yeah because it's just four cafes and all of the seats are arranged so that everyone's just watching watching each other and then the people walk through so everyone is literally just sat there like fucked up it's funny when you first go there you're like oh my god and then you sit down and you're like oh now I'm joining the bitching session now I'm the girl yeah ogling are you going this year?
1:00:38Tsatsamis:I'm not I've never been and I'm sadly not going this year. I thought you went to the Powerpuff Girls year. No, no, no. As it was called. I forgot about that name. Yeah. No, I had friends who went and I was very jealous but I've never been to Primavera. I always thought that Primavera was meant to be like good but not great because people were like, the lineup is amazing but like it does feel like a bit like a London Day Festival. Like it feels very branded and like it's hard to walk around. But like in the last couple of years I feel like people say way more positive things about it. I don't know if they still do like midweek gigs.
1:01:12Tsatsamis:Do they still do two weekends? No, no, no. That was after COVID they did. And they did midweek shows. That was so busy. Which sounded sick, but apparently they were just a disaster. Because it was so busy. Because you then had, the midweek shows were all like small capacity venues. And then you had first come, first serve. There was like the PC music night. And there was a queue of like... My friends tried to go to that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I do remember that actually. hours long it was insane yeah and they ran out of water or some shit oh my god yeah they didn't like i remember trying to go up to the bar being like please can have some tap water they're like no yeah shit like that i was like girl it's dusty like like haven't had water it's like american express right by your face i will say about the branded thing is it is noticeable that i think I presume that Primavera pay the artist really well because everyone brings yeah I don't mind if there's brands yeah that's why I was like you know what dude it means I feel like you just get so much more for your money when you go because you're seeing like yeah the production's good like so many good sets I'm gassed for this year and the curation the way that they like the timing of it you're going to Ethel I haven't even looked at the lineup me neither I honestly can't I will be at Ethel I'm missing the first night because I've got a gig and then I'm flying and like literally so early in the morning.
1:02:34Yes. Addison's on Friday. Fab. And Ethel's as well.
1:02:38Tsatsamis:And it's also like... And The Cure are going. Oh. Oh, fuck. But Charlie played at like 1.30, right? In the morning. Oh my God, it's insane. Which sounds so fun. It was incredible. Yeah. But you know like the timings are so... Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, you've been before? No, no, I've been. But Bill goes every year. Oh, really? I'm going with him, yeah. Billy. Is it just you two? Yeah and then there's loads of friends And all of East London Yeah yeah I'll be heard Wheeling Yeah please come with us Yeah fierce Agony Aunt Do you want an Agony Aunt? Oh god I've just ruined these shorts Whoops I mean they're ruined anyway Sue's soiled herself I've shit myself Hmm Spring Summer 26 Sophie's snoozing on the audio interface Beringer or Beringer Beringer Not the most reputable brand to use What sound card does Satsamis use?
1:03:39Tsatsamis:Audience That sounds nice I don't even know It's not a big brand one But I was like researching I wanted to level up from my focus right Wait before we do an agony amp Let's do like a tape notes-esque second Oh yeah Pete what's one like bit of gear That changes your life that you're that you I was like wow joking yeah it was a joke that you're willing to like reveal you don't have to reveal oh my god I got a synth last Christmas and it's all over the mixtape Korg Minilog does it have a little wave on it a sound wave it has a little yeah it was my and it's like the most because I wanted to get an analog synth because I find doing stuff out of the box.
1:04:33It's just warmer? You know, it's a sound you can't really replicate. It's just amazing. No, it gets you out of the box. It does. And it commits you and it just like, I would, you just, it's so good for just inspiration or just like filling something out. But, and it's really cheap as well. Well, compared to like most, right. But it's amazing. I used it all over the mixtape. Gorgeous. so good and add cohesion and add cohesion exactly
1:05:01Tsatsamis:it's a limiter is it not literally but like oh yeah I was like you're like you're fucking kind it limits creative decisions in a helpful way 100 % because I am someone who will constantly like tweak and like just like move the knobs and then be like oh it sounded better before endless yeah okay call me a log there you go folks there you are sponsor me who have we got 24 moaning about their lives today 24 Poor gay they boy. Stuck in a living wage job in London. Poor work-life balance. Dreaming bigger and better, but clueless on what to do to shake things up. Brackets. Sadly, I also DJ brackets.
1:05:37I love London, but it doesn't love me back. Jobs don't want me, and I crave Europe. But is this a grass is greener situation, or is London just a mean bitch these days? There's quite a lot to deal with there. Okay, so...
1:05:49Tsatsamis:Don't stop DJing. Never stop DJing. That could earn you some serious money for not that much effort. Yeah. Yeah, DJing is very well paid If you can get into the right spaces Or even the wrong ones Like shit bars or weddings They probably pay more Yeah, exactly Or corporate Hey, nothing's too low I'm accepting Christmas party offers If anyone wants to And then Europe If they want to move to Europe 24 Oh my god, yeah, do it Yeah. Have to do it. Yeah. Perfect time. Summer. Yeah. If you have the... It's summer. I'm being really helpful. Yeah. Yeah. It's summer right now. You should move. If you have the...
1:06:38And yeah, DJ.
1:06:40Tsatsamis:I keep DJing. If you have the means to, if you have some sort of passport situation or, I mean, you can't get a job in London. So are you sure you're going to get a job in Europe? But if you have the means to go to Europe, yeah, you can come back to London. Nothing's gonna change You're 24 Yeah you'll be fine I think the It might be Grass is green situation Yeah so if you go to like Berlin and start DJing Yeah and like everyone is Sorry the grass is Genuinely greener Or the grass isn't Oh wait so the grass isn't greener Sorry Oh isn't greener Is it better or is it What I'm saying is The job market is shit And like don't be too hard on yourself Yeah There's really no money this year We also don't know what We don't know what job market They're talking about They might be just talking about DJing And if that's the case then I guess post TikToks.
1:07:25Tsatsamis:They said work-life balance. I'm assuming there's some sort of 9-5 situation that we don't know about. But... Not me talking about the job market.
1:07:38Not Sosama's brand.
1:07:42Tsatsamis:Hang on, sorry. I feel like we... Can we give some sort of like... Move country and DJ. Resounding message of hope to this person because I feel like there was... I know, oh my God. Or not. It will come. Just keep working at it. yeah is it 24 move if you're 24 and you feel the inspiration to move then you need to go and do it because it's like better to do it now than to do it later and it sucks that you're not getting job offers but you can you have no choice but to keep moving and trying different shit and whatever you try you can always go back to what you were doing before right i'm dating someone 14 years older than me and it's going great except i have ocd and i've convinced myself she's my mummy how do i get over this.
1:08:23Tsatsamis:She is. And that's fine. That's hot. Yeah, this is actually a question for you. Case closed. What are we talking about here? Mummy. I don't date women. I don't know about mummy. Is that a bad thing? I've called a partner. Mummy. Mummy before and it didn't go down well and I stopped and then I did it another time and it was fine and then, but not really in a sexual way, more in a sort of a jokey way. If it's a mutual thing and you're both into it. I mean, you thought of it, like it came into your head, so. But they have OCD. How does that affect your mummy fetish? We need more info for this one.
1:09:02Yeah. It was a good one though. Yeah, okay. Mummy!
1:09:10I've started screaming at Taurus after eight years of living in London. Am I the asshole? No. London will do that to you. I was walking down the street today and I was like, get out my way. And I was like, oh my God. Yeah. They're literally 80. I always think about whenever I want to run past someone, can you remember about your now music video by Sugar Babes? I don't know. And he's like trying to get in front of this woman and he jumps like round her. And it is, and it's literally that. And every time I do it, I'm like, God, I'm going to Sugar Babes music video.
1:09:40Tsatsamis:Well, it's happening all the time. Every day in London is like constantly. I am a tutter. People moving at pace. I would just say Unless you're like Maybe you work in Oxford Circus or something Stay out of these areas at all costs Soho only on Mondays or Wednesdays Not at the weekends Make life easier for yourself But keep shouting at tourists It's part of what makes London London Actually shouting at them out loud Yeah Okay so The ball has changed You shouldn't shout at tourists if you can help it, probably. Yeah, tourists can't help it. Become a tourist in your own city. That's something I would say.
1:10:25Tsatsamis:That's beautiful. And what does that mean to you, Pete? How would you live that? Getting shouted at. No, I don't actually know. Going to Oxford Turkish. Yeah. Sex tourism. Sex tourism. In your own city. London Field. Yeah. All right. Well, Pete, thank you so much for coming on. Do you have anything to plug, Pete? My mixtape Mixtape It's not out Mixtape Mixtape Go listen to Zika Pan My Angelina My Angelina My Angelina Shout out to my Angelinas Thank you for having me Love you
