In short

The episode is a chaotic mix of pop-culture chat, music recommendations, UK politics rants, and two “Agony Aunt” relationship/dating questions. The hosts discuss rock music UK as a theme while debating Charlie XCX’s new era (expecting rock/electronic guitars, fast and emotional, and referencing her past singles/albums and b-sides), plus live-music experiences: a Blackpool trip (midweek “dead” seaside, bleak indoor circus), seeing “Satsamis” and performing at Village Underground, and frustrations with a bad sound engineer at a DIY venue. They also review SNL episodes, praising Hannah Waddington’s hosting (she appeared in nearly every sketch, multiple accents, very talented) and criticizing other hosts/episodes. Notable claims include: “satire holds a mirror up,” conspiracy/pandemic talk (hantavirus/another lockdown), and that dating-app “grind” is fickle.

Guests

none. Agony Aunt callers: (1) a gay man in Dublin struggling to meet hot guys via apps and asking for advice; (2) a gay man’s friend with a long-term straight girlfriend situation, asking when/how to confront whether he fancies the writer.

Storm Energy Blend helps boost metabolism, which in combination with exercise and a healthy diet helps burn fat. This product alone does not produce weight loss. Individual results may vary. Where it began, I couldn't seem to notice. Yeah, that's it. But we know it's going strong. We're rolling. Was it the spring? Then spring became the summer.

1:09Let's go everyone. Hands. Touching hands. Reaching out. Touching me. Touching you.

1:31Sweet Caroline Do-do-do Do-do-do So good! So good! So good! Hi. Up the ticks. Up the ticks. West Ham getting relegated, bitch. Reformer back. Which I learned recently that there's a worse reform called... What's it called, Bill? restore where like all the Nazi reformers they're already Nazis but all the ones that are now in restore so maybe reformer are actually a really nice alternative screamed at that reform person that got in calling himself UKIP girl you just repackage yourself UKIP are done by UKIP it was that lazy graphic design that was the issue it was purple Holly wants to do tomorrow That's okay Holly Crack magazine we're coming for you Oh I'm gonna fucking cum all over the fucking chest Crack I love anal How are you

2:43Rock music Rock music Bang in my head I told you it'd be that I said it's not gonna be serious

2:56Fuck music. So I think stuns on new Sibian machine. Is that the fat shaker? No, no, didn't it? You just had it. And then apparently you lose weight. We see it all the time. My friend Tom had a... It's like the fat shaker, except it has a dildo on it. You see me banging my head. What do you think of it? Mother. Yeah? Try not to say mother challenge. Everyone's like, it wipes off all the girlies that joined during Brat and everyone who hates it because there's so many people like this feels undebaked. Wrong. It's like so old school. It's giving true romance. It's amazing. I'm obsessed with it. But I said it was going to be this.

3:36I said she's going to take the absolute piss. It's not going to be a rock music at all. It's going to be electronic and it's going to have guitars on it. I said this. I know. I know. You do. She knew. I did. If I die, just like on my gravestone, just put she knew. See who I think? She knew. so you're a fan you're all the way I'm always a fan I mean that's not my favorite ever since I was like what like 14 mmm but like could she do wrong mm right it's sure I would like and then she released a b-side but only on what's the b-side on like bank up something and I was like I'm lost I saw someone say that this is like this is classic Charlie she always goes to the most groundbreaking trolley song which is to a first single but we did have Von Dutch last time which yes generational before that it didn't lead with the fucking Joel Corey tune no but she's had some tonight we're going out out about that really wait sorry which one was out I'm thinking of hot in it shake my ass I'm stopping it I'm thinking of you know me now you don't I know that was crap yeah see that's one that wasn't the first song from crushes that's probably one of her like most questionable songs right reena that is a questionable album i'm sorry for the girls okay so you see i'm about to crash into the water i'm gonna take you with me i'm high voltage self-destructive i love that song i mean i love yeah yeah what you want i ain't got it I also I've had to block this horrible gay that was commenting on everything and be like you're just ripping off Charlie's gone suck my clitor you're blocked you're blocked how about that my old therapist used to say to me she was like with all the comments that are going on maybe if you imagine yourself as a beautiful garden and people throwing litter you'd want to get rid of the litter and I was like actually you're so right I will be blocking and I will be deleting comments I actually don't care yeah go away but yeah back to Charlie she's the best I'm really excited I don't think it's even going to be like too like Indie sleazy that like I was almost scared for Like we're not going here and like not washing your hair I hope not It's still going to be fast Or another indie sleaze It's just like yeah I think it'll be Yeah I'm really excited I think it's going to be more emotional I'm going to be real I didn't get moved by the track But I'm thinking that it's going to be one of those ones Where the Once you hear it in the album Yeah I'll be into it Oh yeah But right now, I'm kind of like, cool.

6:13And I love, what I love is the lyrics are like, I heard the dance floor is dead. Like, she went to British folks. She said, I'm about to quote myself from the song, get everyone pissed off, which happened. Which you knew before, no? I know some stuff about it. Did somebody else tell me that? That it was like, it was actually a misquote. And it was like, she didn't actually say it in the interview as such. I didn't say that. But it was like, maybe it was my friend Kelly. But I knew she was having a song out on that day. and I know what like there's some other stuff coming out you'd hope so that's it she's gone again guys I just want you to know looking at my crystal ball there's other things coming but yeah like it was it was trolly it was fun I don't know I kind of wanted I kind of wanted something more I'll be real okay that's okay that's okay But it's going to be I still know it's going to be great It's going to be amazing And Can't fault the campaign No I just like Entrust that whatever she does And I'm excited that she's back I just hope she hasn't rushed herself I just hope that you'd come on the fucking pod Charlita I think we'd know by now Yeah we would know Which is why I'm coming out As like Neutral on the song Yeah I'm coming out as Lurie Because we've got to We've got to take stances now Yeah Who do we know that works with her?

7:33Was anybody listening to rock music in Preston? Rock! No, I was in Bolton, Preston area, went to Blackpool. Bill asked me to plan a day out, obviously famously didn't. And then I woke up early in the morning and planned a day out. I wanted to go to the Blackpool Tower ballroom.

8:00Because apparently an organist plays and old people dance. sounds oh my god that sounds brill and when it was closed but you know it was just open the circus so we went to the blackpool tower circus which was genuinely like really depressing like sat down bill was having a panic attack like it was yeah it was really depressing it was fierce and i find that stuff really fun but like like a half empty amphitheater if not like a quarter like i'm sorry it's an indoor circus baby it's like yeah it's been like years and years and years apparently it used to have a pool in it that people would jump into right yeah it's a bit bleaky blinders and then we went to the amusements and went home what was blackpool like in general like i love blackpool but it is like it's what day of the week like most of like midweek it was dead okay it was um yeah it made you feel i mean it's like the north it's like neglected right so it's like yeah it's not but i love blackpool i love the blackpool illumination yeah so far so fierce but um bringing a southerner there yeah panic attack yeah was it overstimulation or the kind of forgotten nature of seaside towns i think i think it was more like this forgotten nature and then subsequently like being both being in the entertainment entertainment industry and then seeing a bunch of people like two green voters go to a reform area yeah not even before like it was just seeing like performers that like that's their life right which is great yeah i hope they're happy but kind of like at the start all of the cast come out to like sell those like uh do you know there's like windmill like light things for kids and they're all just like there and all just like chatting in between themselves and i'm like oh this is bleak like two like yeah but it was a wednesday in early may yeah you know come august time yeah they'll be packed up the sun's out exactly and like they did they were all really talented like half of them started playing in a band with trumpets and shit so they are like really talented and really rate it if only they played live in london they realized that nobody here can like play an instrument they'd be like they'd be black the new black country um but yeah i loved it and then saw my parents which is fine and saw my sisters which is lovely um so yeah i had a great time it was a successful trip yeah okay and i went to see satsamis hell yeah which was fab did some stuff on the mic there and then at village underground I said the weekend yeah which was amazing they wanted to come on spoiler I don't know that guy who's that who's Satsamis are you gay I would love to have Satsamis on I'd love to have gay sex oh my god it's probably about time we have him on yeah I know too friend of the pod how are you how was your weekend so played the giggy played the giggy Jaguar shoes got absolutely fucking turned inside out fucking guts spilling everywhere.

10:54Have you ever seen a dead Jaguar? Yeah. Because we killed it. It was great. It is a very DIY venue, I will say. Sound engineer was there and then not there because they had their own gig. Replacement sound engineer is meant to come. Doesn't turn up. Original sound engineer comes back from gig at Old Blue Lost to do our sound check. We killed the sound check. Obviously, we killed the gig. We murdered the show. but like uh performing up there it reminded me maybe of your the pretext to your show at avalon cafe where it's just like the sound tech this is diy i just want to shout out that that sound tech you actually bellend you should have just said you didn't know what you were doing and that was okay like genuinely we were all producers in that room that day yeah and like there was a sound tech she was i just don't know what's going on i was like i know but she wasn't saying explicitly that she didn't know what was going on she was like trying to troubleshoot and it was just a fucking mess yeah and we were like and also because she was a girl i was like i'm not trying to like overstep and like i believe women in like music is really important but ultimately beside the fact that she was a woman was actually just she was shit and i'm a girl in music too but she was actually just shit at me in a sound right but yeah but i should have said like babe like genuinely we will still pay you please leave the vicinity and we'll sort this out yeah but have you ever been in that situation where you were the one having to blag it no but now what blag it is in like as in you you were the you were not doing sound engineering but having to pretend that you knew about something yeah like yeah in what situation like music production i've been paid money to do things that like were just actually probably bad when i can't even okay patreon Patreon Add it to the list I realize that we haven't done any Agony Aunts Or we're doing another Hinge review Well we should do another Hinge review We should roast another gay Really So good, so good, so good New markdowns up to 70 % off Are at Nordstrom Rack stores now Stock up and stay big on Shoes, tops, dresses, accessories And more must-haves for summer Join the Nordiclub to unlock exclusive discounts Shop new arrivals first and more.

16:09and then chased around have you ever been to a cat cafe no i've got life they are some of the saddest places in the world. I went to one in Manchester with my ex-girlfriend for one of our birthdays. Part of the day was like, let's go to the cat cafe. When you're 19, you think it's a cute thing to do. Fucking hell, the freaks are cat cafe. No offence to anyone that's going to a cat cafe. Maybe we should go. No offence to the people that work at a cat cafe. You're freaks. My allergies would be off the chart. Also, no offence to the cats. They are not... You're old and dying. They don't want to be there.

16:43Yeah they don't want to get adopted Yeah they just want to chill They want to fucking scratch their claws On the fucking sharpening thing And just not talk to you But my favourite episode The Talia episode I loved Because I really loved that conversation And I felt like it was at Christmas It was a lovely time And we didn't need to do anything Talia was just giving really eloquent answers Oh god she was amazing I love her so much Which reminds me I do need to send her some stuff dish TV show called La Veneno. I need to send that. Oh, wow. What's that? It's about a trans diva in... Is it Spain, Bill?

17:23Yeah, in Spain. Trans diva in Spain. And then I also liked when we used to sit in the FIFA 100 because it felt brand new and stuff. True. R.I.P. Celibacy isn't the... celibacy is never the answer was it in this house no it was like it was in new cross it was in um i i listened to the episode and at the start i say happy trans day of visibility like sincerely i'm like i'm being serious is that i'm a bear no no no no i'm a bear is in a fiat 500 i think we're just we're just playing the greatest hits okay maybe we need to kind of spice up our locations again okay let's get in the park once the sun's out okay let's do it would you like that i would love that uh but yeah my gig was good my gig was fun uh jaguar shoes wouldn't play there again by choice yeah but love what they're doing yeah um good for them yeah more power to them happy for you um did three new songs nice important to push yourself creatively artistically i agree did an alternative version of one song which is what someone asked us why do people do that i hate it yeah shout out christy shout out christy i actually yeah i defied you sorry i i thought did you change hip to be done was a different version no like slow sexy kind of minimal version sort of sounding like an xx song maybe okay yeah so gay okay yeah oh awful i would have hated it joking i love the xx i love the xx come on the podcast i like the xx separately there is a hot take for you i love that is a really hot take i love rami's album i loved uh miss sims album and i loved that's a really hot take yeah it's a real hot take i think i really disagree with that really they never moved as a kid i genuinely i know that the x i didn't realize that xx were the reason young exists yeah so i'm like okay thank you thank you for the xx but like there's so many different people on like young and xl that like get my dick hard them sam for yeah twigs twigs but yeah the xx were the yeah the the girl they're huge they're massive i know they're huge globally yeah they're like they did the first show of their tour in mexico and it was like it looked mad but yeah i get what you mean are they at prima i reckon so probably hi big doggy i was i don't know i felt like when i was 12 oh my gosh i remember the x i remember listening to the xx biggie smalls mashups on youtube and that was my thing wow but i didn't i was never um i was never a diehard did they did they make it up to a rural derbyshire or i know i i know i remember them being on tumblr I remember my friend Jamie was into them But yeah I just never I listened to a few songs I know what they did And their sound at the time was like Fab and revolutionally Something different But I was more interested in Lapsley What do you mean in that sort of Well they were all on XL and Young At the time And I thought Lapsley was doing Lapsley's first couple songs Station and Painter I'd never heard music like that before So fab, really minimal It was It was And Billie Eilish quotes Lapsley is one of like Her biggest inspirations Really?

20:56Yeah Wow It's amazing really Good for you Lapsley I mean deserved Love her Shout out the Wirral Shout out the bastard Wirral Shout out Southport Shout out Southport Were you in Southport? 21:50Yeah. But it wasn't. It was for the alternative kids. Yeah. Well, sorry, exactly. Which is interesting. You think the cool kids were the jocks? Well, in my school they were. But they weren't. They were the popular kids, but weren't the cool ones. Because it was looking fucking weird and drinking. Did Alt-J ever make it to rural Derbyshire? Yeah, but like, everyone was like, that's shit. Alt-J were always lame. I'm sorry. So bad. Even when you think about it now, it's like, oh yeah, Alt-J, like, Bill wakeboarding and pennyboarding to Alt-J.

22:26That being said, what's he called, Bill?

22:33He's throwing the fuck off. No, what's it called? Brush Me Like a Horse. Who's that by? Jay Jerome from Alt-J. Jay Jerome. What happened in the Wirral this week, guys? Oh, that was it. Hantavirus! Hantavirus break! Right, like, these are my thoughts, and I might sound crusty and God forbid. Right? Hantavirus is something that has already been about. It's not like COVID. There's cures for Hantavirus. Do we know that? They were like, it's already, we know what it is. Straight diva, the public health podcast. I don't know whether there is, but I was watching a video about that. Everyone being like, there's going to be another lockdown.

23:12genuinely before the lockdown we had we've never had a global pandemic if there is another global pandemic now that's the government I'm sorry if we have another pandemic you can't tell me that's not made up why would a random cruise ship have a rat disease that then is going to like destroy the world again and we're going to have another pandemic that is an absolute pandemic at that point not in my lifetime we're going to have two global pandemics you're finally joining the alt right never in my life like are you i didn't know it happened this early like no i thought like maybe 2035 no what i'm saying is though like we never had a global pandemic right we had one that was bookie enough crazy biscuits do you know what i mean we're all like that's nuts that's nuts and then you're telling me that they're threatening another are you joking i don't i don't know how it's happened i don't know how it's arose rat tees Rat Tees Yeah In Tenerife God knows Imagine being on that cruise ship That would be peeing Imagine being on that cruise And then you have to go To the Wirral Bye Bye Bill

24:24Oh He's actually gone Oh You're gonna be okay I don't know He's probably just Popping to the shops The shops You think You think it was The old J comment It was probably The old J comment Yeah Definitely I'm gonna get Battered later girls Joking That was my past relationship Yeah imagine being stuck on a cruise In Tenerife and then you've got to isolate In the world for three weeks Don't bring it over the Mersey Stay the fuck over there I like Yeah sorry that's giving pandemic If that turns into pandemic we're genuinely caught They're just making shit up at this point Like honestly let's just end the world I think You think too highly Of how how like sensible and intelligent people in these positions are no no no I don't I just think there just can't be another one because there wasn't one before the one we had and then now there's meant to be two a global pandemic that shut down the world the last one probably was the black death it's been less than 10 years since the other one and they're going to do another one influencer did bits Influencer Yeah but it wasn't Influencer God The girls weren't in their homes Locked up honey Acorn locked up True But we didn't have such a kind of A fast moving Travelling world And now we do I'm not doing it again girl Well here's my Give me the rat down Here's my Hantavirus hot take Okay I actually would like a lockdown For three weeks right now No Everyone's like I'll become an influencer I'm really proud that we become influencers On our own After the pandemic Really?

26:03Why? because everyone became an influencer in the pandemic you think it was too easy yeah it was too easy and then we did all these galleys with three million followers that just kind of don't do yeah zero engagement may i remind you but all the brand deals though so they went in yeah she got big on tiktok yeah we we know we know but we don't know anymore okay yeah um but no hear me out okay the thought of like not having to leave my house for three weeks right now um me play fortnight yeah smoke weed drink every day girl zoom quizzes i know but then what happens is when the lockdown lifts on the monday i'll text you can you do today and then you're like feeling a bit peaky actually yeah and that's just an excuse out of everything no we have to bubble to clapping outside our doorsteps we would have to bubble together come on boris come on for no reason why are we clapping outside the doorsteps what the fuck were we doing the british isles are a fucking joke but do you know what i mean like i've seen all the videos of people going out and telling reform about us like reform we're going to lose the nhs lads really when you all have cancer from drinking beer every day um don't go crying to us lot the greens when they cut the nhs which they're going to do i think i just think you know i look at the election results and i think not enough green voters posted their instagram story that they were voting green like we need we we should have posted more because i was like obviously girls yeah obviously well i tried to vote and they didn't let me said you were too late to get through the door they said we don't let sex offenders vote no i tried to register to vote and i thought i'd register to vote and then they didn't let me vote I hadn't registered to vote as it turned out I voted three weeks no I registered four weeks my new address okay and they were like no guys you must learn to register I can break fuck for that and you must felt you must vote local elections are important but um it's uh it's happening.

30:31No, what was it? I asked him how I was playing. Oh, that was it. It's actually Moona does it as well. And they call Silk Chiffon Silk. And that just annoys me. say chiffon oh yeah when we do silk okay chiffon right two words right you're sort of down to one right that's dumb okay but i'm not taking shots at muna because we love muna stream on the wall dancing on the wall yeah east east side girls east side girls banger big stick banger to be fair so what if you don't are you a phoebe bridges fan oh damn it's a boba catholic honey does she shit in the wood does she touch kids honey oh honey it's just fun it's just easy to hate on phoebe bridge i love her so much she's one of those artists that i don't know why she's so great because seemingly it feels quite simple or simplistic yeah like lyrically and the songs but i'm like this is so it's amazing like similarly how to how we talk about how Pink Panther has like mundane lyrics Yeah That are like somehow great They're amazing Phoebe Bridges has quite mundane She's amazing And they're also really left Like they don't make sense Right Like Funeral is the best time ever But I remember listening to her I used to get the When my parents were still in Nottingham And I just moved to London I used to get the Megabus home Yeah National Express And I used to listen to Phoebe Bridges A Stranger in the Alps Deluxe edition on repeat Wow Yeah Wow I'm there And what heartbreak were you going through that time Honestly not even one I just felt like Oh homesickness In a weird way

32:18Okay well welcome back Phoebe Welcome back Phoebe Happy to have you back What else has been on our agenda this week SNL I haven't watched SNL Which I'm thinking will be good because neither will some of our listeners. So SNL, Hannah Waddington, for the past couple of weeks, I keep calling it Amy Louise Wood, but it's Amy Lou Wood. Amy Lou Wood. I love. Her episode was fab. Nicola Coughlin's wasn't, no shade. Nicola Coughlin's just not funny. Sorry. Love her. She's doing amazing things for the trans community. Love her. She's not funny. That's okay. And then Jack Whitehall's was awful and Jack Whitehall needs to stop working.

33:00like please I hate Jack Whitehall everyone here I know everyone listening to this podcast does not like Jack Whitehall but who does like Jack Whitehall I don't know but Hannah Waddington got announced and me and Bill like oh because like barely know her don't know her the people that love her love her but I'm not I wasn't asked genuinely it was the funniest episode of SNL yeah Jack Sherp our lord and saviour killed it played this like a weird Italian man was fucking amazing. The one where he had the old prosthetic. Oh, and then he had like chest hair. It was so funny. Like, it was so funny. Hannah Wadden is genuinely the most talented person in the world.

33:39She can sing. She was like singing as well. And then she was doing every single sketch she was doing a different accent. It was genuinely it was like an actual masterclass. Damn. And genuinely don't, it's not that I don't care for her. It's just everyone who watches Ted Lasso is a virgin. But like, it's just like I didn't watch Ted Lasso. It's for like millennials, like whatever. But she's genuinely amazing. I genuinely couldn't believe her. It was fab. Ted Lasso is for virgins. Yeah, it is, isn't it? I don't know why. I don't know what's going on there. Yeah. I can't believe people watch it. Even as someone who has a soft spot for sports-related movies or TV, still so boring.

34:18Yeah, bunch of freaks. But Hannah Waddington, don't know anything about her. I barely know. She was in Game of Thrones. How much of your enjoyment of the episode was learning about her? Yeah. I think it genuinely, because my thing with Hannah Waddington is, absolutely no shade because I genuinely think she's so talented. I want to see more of her now. But I didn't think she's that famous. So then I was like, God, to host SNL, like that's crazy. And then she did it and I was like, oh, she absolutely ate everybody up. Like everyone that's been on there before, she's like, take it to the cleaners.

34:49Like she was amazing. How important do you think it is that the host is good to the quality of the general episode? Well now, 100%. It's not just actually about the fame, it's about talent. Right. If I've got to be really famous to impress me, or you have to be extremely talented, and Hannah Waddington. Well, but how much of the show, like, would you say that 50 % of the show involves - She was in basically every single scene. Genuinely, it was phenomenal. Even pre-recorded sketches? There was two, a few pre-recorded sketches in. There was a couple that she wasn't. Because some, I, just Jack Shep for the win.

35:22Yeah. He's fantastic. And we'll get him on this pod. Well, well. I've already spoken to her. British Vogue I've already got in Yeah bastard But she's doing one more episode And then we'll get her on the poddy She's not too famous By the time SNL's over Okay so I'm sensing a sort of A general Shift In appreciation For SNL I always appreciate Like we all No no Watch every episode But like Let it be known Let it be known If a bit dash go on SNL UK is a great thing For Yeah Everyone Yeah But like I think for the first few episodes i've watched the most recent episodes it's like it's hit or miss like it's and that's the nature of live comedy and sketch comedy right for sure but like i'm sensing a shift in like appreciation for it from from your end based on like the quality of yeah this episode honestly genuinely this episode was like everything that she was in was like it was like a laugh second it was so funny do you feel like it's it's just stupid like it was so stupid one thing i don't get about snl that i think i could learn about is like i don't really see the benefit of it all being live like yeah i agree but like did it it's given that this was a good episode in your eyes did you did you start to feel it no yeah because jack shepp broke a tiny bit and like laughed to myself which made me laugh right um i'm just like a jack shepp's down i just can't go over jack shepp i can tell yeah i know it's crazy um but we all are but um we have been since early as well early i was going ages i was up wanting to be cool having to be funny way before you bitches knew who jack shepp was yeah i was at the george tavern front row i was at the ivy house yeah We'd always uncomfortably run into each other when I was dating a drug addict in Camberwell.

37:22Do you get it? Do you get it? I saw Jack Shep get famous on TikTok and then flop on TikTok and now fucking... I saw Jack Shep when he was football training kids in the park on a Saturday. That's so stupid. Anyway. Okay, I'm glad to hear it. Yeah. Because my stance on SNL has been like, uh some of it's good some of it i didn't find funny but general like happy it's really happy it's happening yeah but also like i think we should be on it i think with the like we have absolutely the daily report for example absolutely not qualified yeah when you should be on it we should be on it i was like we don't do like enough for a check i would yeah but the whole point is you have to do it first and then they give you a check.

38:14It's like with music. You're not going to get a major deal without releasing some music. Yeah. I've been online a lot. We did some stuff for Maiden Voyage. It's fine. We've done a video for Maiden Voyage. Let's get hired by Universal Records. Yeah.

38:31I know girls that got like signed for less than that. True. No shade. But what was I going to say? they need time to get good right like it's the thing with like the the news report thing it's like they need that they need time to be able to fit into that role and just like all of them generally that they've just been thrown in the news report paddy young oh so sex sex paddy young i was saying to bill i fancy him so much but i don't want him i just want him to win like i fancy him as a friend do you know all these girls i fancy him like genuinely if he asked me i'd be like no like no but i think you're so beautiful and great who do you think i kind of feel it's how i feel about you like fancy was a friend i don't want you like that but i'm just like go louis do you know what i mean every time i watch one of these videos i'm like go louis that was really good episode like 80 something and you're finally friends on me finally but do you know what i mean i'm trying all this you fancy as a friend no but in it like there were just some men that you're like oh yeah objectively is attractive objectively beautiful objectively funny but like i don't want him but like fancying for everyone else do you know what i mean what okay and why do you think that is because he probably looks a bit hairy and it's actually just not my tea i'm actually not a bear you do like baby's bottom i don't it's giving baby's bottom all right okay I thought you meant Paddy Young's very good at making a funny face after he reads out his line yeah we do I thought about rock music is that Kirstama from SNL that's the one thing I would like to say it needs to get stop being political but I just love whoa she I think doesn't want to be political but is willing to talk about conspiracy theories and simultaneously telling us to vote am I cooked chat am I cooked no that's not what I'm saying I'm just saying they keep telling the same Keir Starmer joke over and over and over and it's boring.

40:29Like, I don't like Keir Starmer for the rest of the girls, but like, it's just like, God, Peter Mandelson, Peter Mandelson, Keir Starmer, Keir Starmer. It's just like, like, I just don't want to think about the arseholes that are running our country for a second. I see you. But if we can't like, if we can't hold a mirror up to what's happening, then how can we ever get better? The comedy, someone's going to comment on this and be like, Sue, you become an ignorant. satire is about holding a mirror up okay so every week every week same thing yeah about kirsten armor maybe maybe it always sounds like he has a lozenge on his throat yeah yeah yeah i should do the kirsten armor impression i know get bill not bill no the guy that does it's good let's do some fucking agony aunts honey Someone's just messaged me Wow Sue is serving face mama Thank you as are you Oh sorry that was my bad Okay you ready?

41:31I'm ready Please go to the table Oh my god All episodes do my head in So from the coffee shop go downstairs Right You're the love of my life but please Hey babes love the pod And the new song agony aunt for you Love you keep shimming I'm not enough gay man here i have oh they're still writing it okay let's come back to that because they're writing a second but also i want to give a quick shout out to uh zara from dublin who i met on the weekend zara zara from dublin is it like she walked past i was sitting at a bus stop yeah um after being at the pub and she walks past me and she's just like staring at me like laughing yeah and i'm like i get that that was weird yeah and but i don't want to go like they obviously know like they obviously fuck you look they obviously listen to the podcast or something yeah but she walks past like laughs while looking at me i'm like i'm like what the fuck was that yeah yeah then like five minutes later she comes back and she's like hi hey sorry i just had to say like i'm from dublin and i work at the shillelagh and like i just had to say hi because like i listen to your book i love it i've been here since january and like you're like you're teaching me about east london oh that's so nice and i want to give a shout out to zara because and i really appreciated how she came back yeah after frankly embarrassing herself by laughing in my face and embarrassing me yeah yeah she didn't embarrass herself sorry you're fine she embarrass you she looked at you and scoffed love yeah like oh you're a real person yeah yeah gag it yeah how do you exist right hey sarah 32 gussy little faggot from dublin just want to say big fan of the pod and thanks for the joy you lou and bill and sophie bring to my day every week you and lou have such bright creative futures ahead of you sue and your flowers are are coming big congrats on not in love oh that's so nice thank you so much bless up my agony aunt is that i've been struggling to catch some hot fellas for a good time despite having pictures profiles on the apps i've got info listed and take the initiative to share my pictures guys just don't follow up or bite the bait once more i'm quite social i get out to events organized by the local gay community groups meet people and keep an open mind i'm starting to feel like i've hit a dead end when it comes to meeting guys and finding someone with whom i can share my love companionship and wit who i'd love to love and smile any appreciate any wisdom appreciated of you both okay you just gotta keep going i guess i guess just keep going man stiffer perlipping that you know what i mean you know what i'm saying i do know what he's saying um it's really hard i mean grind is a very very fickle thing anyway and i don't think it's anything about you i think it's about like people are just dreadful on that and so like you might send your informations they might have already just come do you know what i mean and then i'm like logging off honey um so maybe that's but if you go into the community space that's all you can do you just got to keep going out and what do we know sorry do we know where this person is in dublin oh in dublin yeah okay because when uh they said like local community events yeah so they're going out i kind of immediately for some reason went to like town hall in in in like a village no no it's adorable um okay and this person is having trouble on grinder specifically or dating apps dating apps okay well the yeah the way it was sort of opened up was like they're not taking the bait right which makes me think that you're more on more on like a shagging first app yeah or you're maybe we need to switch apps yeah switch apps maybe we need to get off the apps in totality maybe we need to explore uh friend networks maybe we need to kind of get some feelers out get some setups get some blind dates it's all about um trying to if something's not working changing course yeah Yeah, switching it up.

45:43So what are you into? Yeah. Are you into film? Are you into music? Where are you going to meet the person that has the similar interests to you? Is it going to be in a physical space? Is it going to be an online space? Yeah. Is it going to be in the straight diva WhatsApp chat? Because I know this person is in the straight diva WhatsApp chat. Yeah. But how many... How did you know that? Because I saw the picture. Oh. I was like, oh my God, you just know how they write. I was like... no okay i don't know is there anything else to add on struggling with dating i think take a break sometimes i think just change course and also something that helps for me is taking your mind off it completely by filling your life with something else more interesting like in like a work or a passion or a friendship because i feel like love is more likely to find you if you're like winning in other areas basically and it's like what the classic thing of like watching a kettle boil if you watch kettle boil it's gonna take longer gonna take ages yeah yeah go have a wee that's what i like to do when i watch the kettle boil go have a wee i don't have a kettle i've got a hot tap have a scroll forget the kettle's boiled boil the kettle again forget the kettle's boiled again because you've been scrolling again repeat repeat repeat fill the void fill the void hey babes love the pod and the new song love you agony aunt for you gay man here i've had a friend for about six years and when we first met i instantly thought there was something flirty between us and i fancied him straight away but then he told me he has a girlfriend he's been with his gf the whole time we've known each other i've also become friendly with her but we don't see each other loads tbh there's been so many times over the years when i felt this flirtation from him and then the most obvious one was when he sent me a link to a song telling me to listen to the lyrics and it went baby can we talk i've been into you for such a long time we've been friends for so long don't quite know how to say this so it's extremely obvious he fancies me to some degree and i fancied him the whole time my question should i ask if he fancies me at what point do i tell him do i ask if he fancies me is it all in my head surely not there have been so many signs that he's been trying to float with me seeing as he's had such a long-term gf i feel like i don't want to be a homewrecker but maybe he's closeted by curious and is hoping that i make the first move i always thought if they broke up i'd ask him okay so um i do kind of have experience with this where you just actually have to ask him if you just want to like if it's if you're feel like you're losing your mind and losing your way fucking ask him i think there is so much lost time that i should have just there's a kathy burke quote where she's like what that i was the biggest regret she's i should have fucked the people that could have fucked and i think that is tea like i like i think especially at uni i think i beat around the bush with a lot of people i did at school there was a guy that i knew fancy me used to like fucking snapchat me and i was like and i was like always trying to float with him but he wouldn't overtly say but i should have just gone around his fucking house do you know what I mean and just like right and come around like genuinely all you're doing is losing your own time say it fuck it and then like if he's like I'm with my girlfriend be like alright we'll stay in the closet then queen I'm going away because then you know do you know what I mean like and um let me flip the script on you okay what if what if some man or some little fucking starts getting in Bill's DMs I'd be like you can try you can try yeah go on have a go see how far you get because ultimately i'm not like if bill cheats that's on bill not on that person right okay like if someone dms me like i'm not i'm not replying like hey sweet one i'm like no like i've got a man piss off girl i don't know i came up with that is that good do you like that um but it is that thing it's like you know yeah go for it no it's like try it i agree but it's fun it's interesting because i feel like a lot of people like he if he also cheats on his girlfriend he's a waste man a lot of people disagree on that thing right there it's like if you're a lot of people think homewrecking is a a bad the home's already wrecked because the person in the home is wrecking it and you should be able to take those sort of tests if you're like a solid relationship ruining like your time together by like constantly trying to get with you what Is that still recording?

50:09I don't know We're still recording Are we? Yeah Oh yeah we are Shit it then But like if he's wasting your life By like doing that You can't waste your life Fancying him Just ask Do you fancy me? Right Shut it down Yeah yeah yeah Do you know what I mean? Then if he's like No no no no Then there's your answer Yeah You can't convince someone To like love themselves You clearly love yourself You're gay You're openly gay It sounds like I could be curious I don't know But like you know what you want And just go and say what you want It's not that you're asking Him to cheat on his girlfriend and you're like, so what's going on here?

50:38This isn't fair. Yeah. You know? No, I agree with your lead point that like life is too short to not sort of pursue these things. Like what are we doing? Are we living to kind of, you know, hit our KPIs or please other people? No. Okay. We're living to shag and we're living to love. And also you felt this enough that you've written into a podcast. Like you are eloquent enough to just like, don't even do it over text, do it to his face. like what's that song about do you fancy me yes or no yeah genuinely there is just so much where like i feel like there was so much of my life being flirted with with straight men or like by curious men or bisexual men so much like flirting where i should have just turned around like honestly genuinely unless you're going to do something stop like but you're kind of oh maybe they'll make they never make the first move like they're like you are their roof like this kind of flirtation they're offering you is like their roof it's the most that they they are like daring themselves to go like respect yourself more and be like what is this genuinely if you don't want it piss off gag it so i'm trying to think of another hypothetical taron edgerton slides in your dms who's tarned tarned edgerton is um this he's the guy that played elton john in the elton john biopic Oh yeah, if you slid in my DMs I'd block him I'm trying to think of a good one Like I guess I'm trying to think of the ultimate test To slide in your DMs Taron Egerton was a joke one Okay Is she a girl?

Read the full transcript

52:21No, no, no Taron Egerton is T-A-R-O-N Oh, Taron He sort of fits your mould of like

52:34He kind of looks like a geezer sometimes But he's obviously also like Okay so say this man slides my DMs Yeah I can see I'm just well It doesn't have to be him right Yeah I just I'm trying to isolate the Is it always okay to To reach out to someone in a relationship To make a move on someone in a relationship No because if someone in a relationship is making a move to me I'd be like you've literally got a girlfriend posting about her like it broke no no no you're in a relationship yeah they're making a move on you they're single I'm like I'm in the relationship queen that happens it happens there's a guy from a band that like occasionally every once in a while will be like hey how are you he's like yeah I'm fine you alright yeah I'm good I'm actually fine I was like yeah probably not that's it and he'll try again in a few months because straight men it's Grian Grian Chatton from Fontaine's DC yeah how do you know there's this guy from a band he's nice he's sweet he's lovely we follow each for ages am i gonna do this no like no what do you want me to do in the relationship piss off that's true love right there exactly you should be able to face the test so in in some in the creative industries and also just like in london in general you are gonna meet people constantly like that something you won't even realize they're trying to float with you and then they'll be like can i have it on it's like oh no actually you can't like you just have to say no just as much as like back in the day when you single you would have said yes like now it's the opposite way if you're in a monogamous place she was like no you can't tell me that's it like it is what it is and if you're an attractive and beautiful person you're going to attract people hell yeah so make your move life is too short do it with respect just do it for you like say um respectfully miss whatever yeah i'm coming for everything you work for yeah but just say to him like you honestly need to stop stop it like i'm also not your testimony for when you want to feel like you can break out the mood from your girlfriend like get your shit together leave me alone you like nine to five I'm the weekend oh make them lose need you for the old me that's the great song about being a side joke you should listen to need you for the vanity you should listen to The Weeknd by SZA need you to remind me where I come from very hot makeup thank you Lauren Al she said she loves my makeup love you should we finish on a hinge profile Crystal uses she they pronouns that's okay oh my god oh my god Oh my god.

54:54That's sick. She's being dragged. She's a trapeze artist. Is it a trapeze or a pole? She's spinning into someone's life. Fucking hell. Slow down, Crystal, you bastard. Would you rather... Slay the dragon. Break the spell. Oh my god. What's up, fucking media player. Would you rather slay the dragon, break the spell with true love's kiss, or devote... Devote, spell devout, your life to me?

55:24Sue, initial reactions That's funny Yeah? Yeah Mystical enough? Sort of slight pixie girl energy? 56:07Nice to meet you. One thing, you won't be bored. Let me tell you that I'm not going to be bored. I'm already bored. I'm going to hear silence again. The head is Phenomenal The head is phenomenal That was funny You'll never be bored again That was funny My most irrational fear stagnation Yeah Ambitious we like ambition We like aspirational ones And her mate said you'll never be bored So like that's building into that one I like this crystal I'd be very interested she's constantly she's constantly saying something she's bad with silence yeah that's attractive she's trying she's trying to silence the voices in her head but she can't but she's escaping them so she's never boring and I'm not gonna repeat what her best friend said she's queer five foot seven Bristol Dreamer University of Bristol Southwest London oh she's from Southwest London you're beautiful Crystal though wow she's stun bag okay Crystal she's on a balcony I thought she's got a full set of chompers Fierce Because there are some men with awful teeth Yeah Not me Not us

57:23And we finish Okay Crystal can do flips and shit Crystal Oh She made sure we saw the caption of I love No I said I did this Oh you did this sorry Dating me is like falling asleep in the sauna That's nice warm and sweaty I want so many pictures I know Yeah you're right How are there so many pictures these days? Okay. I really like a crystal. I think it's great. I think you're giving off the impression that you're pixie, which is great, as long as you're aware that that's going to attract a certain type of pixie man, right? Or they're queer, so, or person, or woman. Right, but is it queer? Well, queer is everything, in my opinion.

58:11what's the most minimum form of queer but i when i was queer i was on to everyone okay yeah so your pan you're a fan that means what i just called your frying pan oh you're a fan um um yeah no i put queer queer i'm queer madame la queer i like it crystal good for you girl and you're beautiful You're absolutely stunning But I don't know what queer And I like I like your friend's voice now I think that's fun I don't know what queer means When I see it In this context It means they're probably Open to everyone Everyone Yeah But what is the difference Between that and someone who's pan Queer is like Because pan is a specific thing So like pan is like Which one's pan?

58:58Everything You're interested in people Yeah You don't Specifically you're interested in people You need to get to another person Whereas queer is like a mindset Queer is like I'm like I'm about everything Yeah yeah yeah so it's more cultural than sexuality yeah queer is like a wider term for like pan like queer can kind of be everything pan is like you are that one thing well crystal you've been teaching me about queerness so that's a good thing for that reason alone 10 out of 10 turn the chair around derma o 'leary sit on my face right now test daily and vernon k we didn't speak about that Fuck Shit Where do we go from here When I used to know you so well Vernon you love rat That's what my friend Ryan sent me He said I'm devastated I texted him in the morning We were in the group chat And I texted Ryan I was like UK He was like no I'm devastated I was like baby you're right He was like yeah They're done And sent the heat magazine A bit all Maybe you take He's sexy though Maybe you take Vernon I take Tess Alright fine And actually everybody wins Yeah You can't Yeah you can't Fuck I think we could do I reckon me and Bill But he's a love rat What is a love rat?
