In short

The episode argues that the body’s symptoms are purposeful healing signals, and that health improves by reducing “nervous system interference” (chiropractic philosophy) and by reclaiming natural, attachment-based parenting and birth practices. It also criticizes cosmetic-industry practices, especially breast implants, framing them as trauma-linked and tied to “breast implant illness” (BII) and medical gaslighting. The conversation connects perception, trauma, and embodiment to long-term aging and wellbeing.

Guest backgrounds

Andi Lew (Australian author/presenter/wellness expert) is a certified food lifestyle and wellness coach with ~30 years in holistic health practice. She has written 11 books, including Connected (2020) and Treasured Chest (10th book), and is a longtime chiropractic-adjacent practitioner (she describes herself as a qualified chiropractic assistant).

Key claims

Inflammation/fever/rashes are “expulsion” healing; suppressing symptoms (e.g., cortisone) blocks healing. The nervous system is the master controller. Modern birth/parenting disrupts neurological wiring (brain integration not until ~5–7). Cosmetic procedures can create systemic harm and shame; BII is real and has been buried.

Notable examples

A chiropractic practice story where EMG improved but a father felt unchanged until his son reported reduced aggression. A birth narrative contrasting natural vaginal birth (squatting/gravity, coordinated stress release) with elective C-sections, cord cutting, and “cry it out” effects. Andi’s personal BII/explant story: 8 years of symptoms, multiple surgeons/MRIs, then explant surgery revealing a rupture she had pinpointed; the surgeon later wrote the book’s foreword.

0:33Darin Olien:By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Over 500 toothpaste tubes have been thrown away since I've started this ad. You don't think of these small little things, but they add up a lot over time, and we can do something about it. That ends up to be over a billion plastic toothpaste tubes a year alone that ultimately end up in our environment and in our waterways and ultimately ends up in the ocean. Do you want to add to this or do you want to do something different? Plus, maybe that exposure to that plastic, getting the plasticizers and the endocrine disruptors and then putting that toothpaste in your mouth also is not a good idea.

1:21Darin Olien:There's some great solutions. You can DIY stuff. I've got many of these in my fatal conveniences. But the easy ones that I use every day and I'm about to travel a lot more and the traveling makes them really easy. I go to bite. I bite down on a little tablet, which is not interacting with any plastics because it's in a glass bottle and it's refillable and reusable and sustainable. And there's no unwanted toxic fluorides, flow agents and solvents in my mouth. So my favorite is this Bite Toothpaste. 100 % home, compostable pouches, subscription models. You don't even have to think about it again.

2:07Darin Olien:You're helping you by putting clean products in your mouth and you're helping the environment because Bite Toothpaste is one of the best companies I've seen looking at all aspects of their supply chain and their refillable, reusable, sustainable, regenerative practices. So Bite is offering you, all my listeners, 20 % off your first order. Go to trybite.com, T-R-Y-B-I-T-E forward slash Darren20 or just use the promo code Darren20, D-A-R-I-N, and you can get 20 % off your first order with a great new toothpaste without using the tube. Welcome back to Super Live Podcast. Today, we have an incredibly special and deeply insightful conversation with the Australian author, presenter, and wellness expert, Andy Liu.

2:59Darin Olien:Andy is a certified food lifestyle and wellness coach who has dedicated three decades to practicing and teaching holistic health. She is a prolific storyteller, having written an astonishing 11 books, including her 2020 release, Connected, which explores the power of perception and the body's innate wisdom to heal. In this episode, we explore the profound intelligence of the human body and why our symptoms are actually signs of the body working to heal itself. Andy shares her deep knowledge of chiropractic philosophy, explaining how the nervous system acts as the master controller of our health and how removing interference allows our universal life force to flow.

3:51Darin Olien:We also dive into the vital importance of natural birth, attachment parenting, and how modern societal norms and interventions have sometimes disrupted our natural neurological wiring and physical connection. We also tackle a heavy but crucial topic, the hidden dangers of the cosmetic industry. Andy opens up about her deeply personal journey detailed in her 10th book, Treasured Chest. Andy opens up about her deeply personal journey detailed in her 10th book, Treasured Chest, exposing the realities of breast implant illness and the medical gaslighting many women face. She shares her powerful story of turning pain into purpose, overcoming a systemic physical shutdown, and ultimately reclaiming her divine organic state through explant surgery.

4:49Darin Olien:This is a conversation about trusting nature, embracing our innate power, and having the courage to live a fully connected life. Get ready to learn and absorb the incredible energy and wisdom of Andy Liu. Welcome to Super Life Podcast. The great thing, that's the thing I like. I don't, like, this is a natural conversation. As soon as we saw each other, we're just talking about a million things, which is, I think, the funnest. Look, it's because I feel like I know you. I mean, I know your work. I'm a fan of down to earth. And then I interviewed you on the red carpet. And I was like, I know this guy.

5:30Wow, this will be fun. We have to have a conversation about all the wellness things. I mean, you can hear I've got an Australian accent. So I came all the way from America, from Australia to America for this. Where am I? That's right.

5:43Darin Olien:Yeah, let's go. Well, I mean, listen, it's the fact that you're so dedicated and you've written, you're now on your 11th book. Currently writing my 11th book. Like, I'm still, I'm still affected by my last one. Like, you know what I mean? it's like oh god it's like birthing and you think i'll never do this again labor of love then you look at it and you go oh this is so great maybe i will soon and then you're like why did i do this so cranking out 11 is what i i guess like generally speaking where does the passion come from it's about storytelling storytelling is really healing you only have to look at the first nations people and go well what did we do and you know the aboriginals the indigenous would sit around and have what's called dream time and you know whether it's in the medium of making docu-series or writing books or as an actor or a presenter which is what i am you're just the art of storytelling is so powerful and it's in the hearing that healing happens and so when you feel heard or you can relate to someone or you take someone on a journey and then of course there's education so we're here to serve aren't we and I just think I've got all this knowledge it would just be rude of me to keep it to myself no well I mean that that that's a it's an important distinction because so many people hold themselves back right because we all have a wisdom I think as we emerge but it's a different thing to to go like hey there's something I want to share and I need to share and I'm compelled to share and then actually sharing.

7:30Darin Olien:There's very few people that you can say has written 11 books. I think, though, at the end of the day, it was never easy. But you've got to push yourself and be in that, what I call, divine discomfort zone for magic to occur. And I do realize that this is a bit of a calling. A lot of my readers read my books and go, oh, you're actually a really good writer. And I'm like, why are you so surprised? I know I look different to what people think. I mean, I'm known for becoming ageless and, you know, I look great for 72. April Fool's. Look, I am 53 this year. People do think I'm 15 years younger. And it's, you know, it's just one of those things that after teaching and practising what I teach for three decades now, I'm kind of in my element because I'm like, hey, I told you so.

8:21just keep listening and doing what I've been preaching and it works it eventually pays off what was the first book um it was all about how to live a better quality of life naturally and then I actually pushed that off the shelf and repackaged it in 2020 when we started viewing things with 2020 vision and now that book's called connected a paradigm shift in how we view health and it is about aging well and it's about understanding how the body works to heal when you give it the right environment so you know one of my favorite topics and in there is like all the body's innate wisdom healing powers like if you think about all the things that we've shunned and said that's not good that's not okay like when you vomit it's a bad thing or getting a fever it's a bad thing but when we understand how the body is working to heal from that innate intelligence level we go hang on a second the body's raising its temperature because it needs to hit a certain boiling point to be able to kill off the virus or we actually are expelling toxins healing happens through expulsion through an orifice so that orifice can be the nose or the mouth through sneezing or coughing or it can be through the eyes with conjunctive itis Another orifice might be the ears with an ear infection.

9:42We also have down that end, you know, and we're purging and we're healing through expulsion. But when even it might be a rash, for example, and the pores are, you know, an orifice as well. But then we put the cortisone cream back on and we push the rash back in instead of understanding what's actually going on. These symptoms are signs. And if we listen to the symptoms, they can actually help us to heal instead of thinking that they're the big bad wolf.

10:08Darin Olien:yeah it's it's such a huge huge thing that we flipped the whole thing and i i most recently in the last month talked to this norwegian researcher really badass guy and he's developed some mechanisms to gather about 200 000 to a million data points when he looks at your body through a lot of different mechanisms it's incredible and he said he's worked on 700 000 in people yeah that's a lot you know what he says studies yeah yeah it's a lot of data and you know what he said what to your point i've never seen the body make a wrong choice wow never so when there's inflammation yeah he's in a unique position to have something way beyond just a blood test or an exam.

11:01Darin Olien:He's looking at a lot more data to the point, seeing the miraculousness of the body to the point, it's always doing it for a reason. Our little minds sometimes just go, well, this is the thing hurting me, so therefore it's bad, it's wrong, suppress it. Which is... If we take that analogy and apply it, That's why I said, wow, apply it to everything we know. Everything that's happening is always meant to happen. How do we know? Because it happened, right? It happened. So when we make peace with that and we surrender to it, it just is mind-blowing. But it reminds me of a story of when I was working in a chiropractic practice that I owned.

11:44Somebody came in, he had a bad shoulder. By the way, I'm a qualified chiropractor's assistant. So I ran this practice like for 11 years, but this man had a really bad shoulder pain and we used objective measures of health, like an EMG scan, you know, not just going off symptoms. And when this man, I think it was after 12 visits, we did a re-examination and he was kind of sitting there in his exam and he was like, my shoulder's still sore and I'm really mad. Like it's not better and I'm paying this money and I expect it to be better and everything. And we're like, well, you know, the EMG scan is showing that there's less nervous system interference and, you know, you should be feeling something different.

12:22Is there anything you're feeling? No, no, no, nothing's different. What a waste of money. And he was really mad. And then his teenage son used to come in but never said a word. So he would come in after school with him. And then the chiropractor at the time looked at the teenage son sitting in the corner behind him at the back and he said, since your dad's been coming in, have you noticed any changes in your dad? And the son said, yes, since my dad's been getting adjusted, he hasn't hit me and mum anymore. I know. And I've got goosebumps. I'm trying not to cry. but the body has a triage it has an order of what it finds it needs to heal first right so the body triaged and went you know what the emotional stuff is what i need to i got goosebumps i'm like flaring up we saw so many miracles you know in practice so i've had a wellness center for 11 years i'm a certified food lifestyle and wellness coach and what i've found as well when healing happens it's when we are buzzing in the excitement of what we're born to do we're not supposed to be doing things that we don't love and so I can help you you know with nutrition I can help you with all that but it's such a holistic approach because when you go towards what excites you is when your cells sing and that's when the magic happens as well because you just can't heal when

13:44Darin Olien:you're in a stifled state yeah yeah and you're in a sense of beingness and and a different state of effect when you're in that zone of purpose and and supporting your own love and dreams and that's a completely different thing and having the courage to do that is important because you have to deprogram everything that you've been taught to be able to do that and guess where the word courage comes from the front because i'm a lover of language the french word liqueur which means the heart so when you have courage to do something you're operating from the heart now when you're operating from the heart you can't go wrong and then it has a snowball effect of all of the other health decisions that you're making yeah i mean you know your origin how did you discover your passion in this thing like how where did that come from so that's a poignant question very clever of you to ask that and i think we're chosen if you can listen to that everybody has a time that they remember where they felt called or just this was their thing and i remember when i was like five i was really angry at my dad pushing cough medicine down my mouth, it was pink and it tasted sweet.

15:04But every time I took it, I remember hallucinating and it was just an awful experience being out of my body. I was just vehemently opposed to drugs and cigarettes and things. And I remember when I found the philosophy of chiropractic, which is about above, down, inside, out, the universal intelligence that's actually running us, something greater than us is then running our innate intelligence. And it's through that connection to source that we can express health right and I was like when I discovered chiropractic in my late 20s I was like this just makes so much sense to me because it's not about putting anything in your body and it's not about taking anything out but it's allowing the body to work the way it's designed to and that philosophy just made sense with who I already was as a little girl about being vehemently opposed to drugs because that changes you and there's a natural alternative to everything, but why do we call it an alternative?

15:59Really, it needs to be complementary because we're in this beautiful world now, this modern, crazy world, and we need to heal the divide and start combining both because where would we be without the best life-saving drugs, surgeries, ambulances, hospitals, but only in cases of emergency? But what are we doing to be proactive instead of reactive and I like to dive deep into that because that actually comes from how we come into this world which says a lot about who we are you know and we can if we may go into birthing and attachment and all of that but this is what I've been questioning for decades especially now that I'm a mother and I was privy to have a natural birth and I see that you're adjusting your posture too and I love that because the more you do that you're breathing deeper you're getting connected to source again.

16:49But when we're actually in this state, we close off our heart, it's in fight or flight, there's actually less blood in the brain and it's all in our extremities ready to pounce. And so that's a good thing because it's the body's innate wisdom to go, you know, I don't feel safe here. So again, now how we come into this world, we've come into this world very detached with our modern birthing techniques. if you think about right from the get-go we can go back to conception but you know how many vaginal births are happening how many babies and humans are passing through the vaginal canal having the opportunity to swallow a whole bunch of prebiotics to set up that gut health right from there and then having the opportunity also tense all of their muscles and then squeeze with the mother So we think that that entry point is, you know, a contraction, but it's actually from here like a coffee plunger and it contracts down and both mother and baby are working together as a team to push the baby down and through the vaginal canal.

17:57So now that human knows how to deal with stress and release stress straight away. But if you're having an elective caesarean, and I use the word elective because everyone's birth is so unique and we try our best and that's also okay. But oftentimes we don't get to have the opportunity to experience a natural birth because it's on the clock or it becomes litigious or let's plant some fear rather or let's watch something on Hollywood where the mother's screaming and that's the only thing we've been programmed to see. or what King Henry VIII did was he was a sick man. He used to watch his wives being birthed with the stirrups.

18:37He invented birthing with women flat on their backs in stirrups and he would sit in his throne and watch them birth. And it's like, right, because we're supposed to be in a squat position and use gravity or, you know. So here we are having this detached birth that isn't ours and then the baby comes out in whatever way and then we cut the cord.

19:01Darin Olien:Straight away too. Not cutting the cord is called a lotus birth. Allowing the cord and the placenta which is birthed, this is a lotus birthing technique, the mother and baby decide when they want to be detached. Now that's very unique too, that relationship that you can't interfere with because we're all human having our own beautiful, soulful experience and we've chosen this mum and the mum's chosen the baby and we decide. So what happens is you've got this cord pulse, you've got this nutrition, the placenta gets wrapped up with this muslin cloth. You're supposed to carry it with you and allow that nutrition to keep passing through and the detachment happens in their own unique time and eventually it falls away.

19:48Then you can pay it forward to the earth. You'll love this with down to earth. Plant that placenta under a tree and let new life grow. And so this is the cycle of life and the attachment. And then I think this is why we have then become in 2020 and bringing it back to this. This is my personal belief system. But I feel like I'm observing a culture of people going, I can't do anything on my own. I feel disempowered. You know, govern me harder, daddy. Tell me what to do next. and it really starts with what have we done what you know how have we come into this world you've got this but you've forgotten that you've got this and the attachment to the mum is huge you know then we've been bringing in bottle feeding techniques cry it out sleep techniques the neurological wiring of the human brain is bleeped up you know the human brain is actually in three parts, mammalian, reptilian and rational parts of the brain.

20:53It doesn't fully integrate and become one brain until about the age of five to seven. So that's why there's this saying, show me the boy until he is seven and I will show you the man. So the neurology, the wiring is happening during this crucial time. And if you're saying from 6pm to 6am, that door is shut on the baby, you can cry, I'm not coming to see you. This is my time. That baby starts to feign death. F-E-I-G-N. Just like in the animal kingdom. It's like, well, if I keep crying, not only is this too stressful for me, I've got excess cortisol and adrenaline being released, but it's also dangerous because a big animal could come and eat me up.

21:35So I'm just going to stay silent and feign death because it's safer. So now all these parents have been thinking that they've trained their baby, but in actual fact the neurology screwed up and there is such thing as emotionally unavailable babies which then become depressed and detached and anxious adults so and I went on 60 minutes about this entire subject it's they call it attachment parenting but I just want to call it parenting and so yes we have evolved as species we live in big safe houses but the way in which the human brain develops has not changed. And so that human brain really does think that a big lion is going to come and eat them.

22:21Darin Olien:That's the nervous system. Before we continue the pod, I want to share something. I've tried so many supplements. I've been in the space for 25 years and every so often something really pops out. Monovitality is that difference. It's not just about adding minerals it's about tuning your body to the higher frequency physically mentally emotionally and spiritually because this is the mana from the earth the she legit the ormus minerals and so on there's so much going on with this brand i'm so excited beyond the she legit they're expanding into other elementals the brand is built on ancient alchemy with ingredients like gold nanoparticles, beta-glucans, shilajit, ormus, all geared to elevate you.

23:14Darin Olien:Especially in today's world, you need bioavailable, a bio-delivery system that upgrades your body from the inside out. Every formula is frequency charged to promote balanced energy immune system and cellular renewal. And the wild part, the more consistently you take it, the more you feel everything in your body. It's the same with me. The more I use it, the better I feel. My sleep improved, my skin glows, my stress goes down, my testosterone goes off. It's like my whole system is humming again. So if you're tired of low energy, brain fog, and or just not feeling the same and like something's missing, check out mana go to mana vitality.com that's m-a-n-n-a vitality.com use the code darren20 and you get 20 off your order this isn't about health it's about living in harmony with your greatest and highest potential it's like it's all taking it in and and we we've formed it's like you like the origin story of that's how we're given birth by a king that was out of his mind and now we've just adopted these things and if we don't question these things we just keep repeating this stuff and that's that's the danger right and i think the beauty comes from when we finally realize how connected we are and this is why the book is called connected to each other yeah to the earth to community to everything everything starts to drop in and the choices you make the decisions you make are so much more connected empathetic you know this is where healing really takes place and this coexistence that needs to happen if we're going to continue existing in this universe on this planet it has to happen exactly yes it's it's huge it's everything i I mean, that connection and kind of reclaiming all of this, you know, it's just like all of these decisions have been made.

25:24Darin Olien:Even when I was born in 1970 and I was premature and I was shoved into a box for three weeks, right? You know what I mean? And like I've done a lot of work on reclaiming that, understanding that and and exponentially or excuse me experientially going into that and by the way it doesn't matter what our journey is it doesn't matter if we came into this that's our story because who you are is good and that was meant to happen too but if we can avoid things is what you're saying yeah yeah yeah and it you know again that zero to seven zero to eight period for all of us is is a very pivotal time of how we're we're showing up in the world and then you add on top of it every decision almost 95 plus percent of it is unconscious kind of mostly geared by this period of time yeah and so if you don't do that work to to create that revelatory opportunity of this unconsciousness to see to then maybe reorient yourself back to these basic understandings of your own life yeah then you you just become a victim of these situations that you didn't have any choice at the time but the the programming is in there which started from women's revolution you know we wanted to have jobs we wanted to have equality bottle feeding was introduced so think about like how we have evolved but now how we have to go back you know when you pick up a baby when it's crying or just when you pick it up you naturally start moving and swaying with it you can't help yourself that's because that rhythm or that motion helps to develop the vestibular system you know I saw a woman in a shopping center she had the baby on her hip she was holding the trolley or the shopping trolley but you know the baby's crib in there as well and she was pushing that shopping trolley backwards and forwards while she was staring at the shelves but she had the baby oh my god so can you see how innate this is we're designed to do that but then resisting to pick up that baby when it's crying and going you're a naughty child you're a naughty baby i you know you're manipulating me think about that who's taught us that because when you do pick up a baby you're synchronizing it's mutual synchronicity of heartbeats breathing and body temperature it's mutual and then think about breastfeeding for example now i want to talk about this because then i did end up writing a book called treasure to chest which is exposing the explant industry very important but when a human fetus is being developed in the womb those breasts or the cells are actually immune cells that's how they start off and so if you look at other countries like in Africa, they're wearing grass skirts and they're exposing their chest.

28:24It's all about in context. Like how did we get here where we're not understanding that breastfeeding is normal, that our chests are precious. And where did we flip it and go, well, I don't want to see you breastfeeding. Put a blanket over the baby's head. No, if you've got a problem with my breastfeeding, put a blanket over your head. High five.

28:47Darin Olien:Here's a blanket. Carry extra blankets. That's awesome. Extra masks, extra blankets, whatever you need to make yourself feel comfortable. Yeah. Yeah, it's like one of the most natural things in the world and then somehow people find it offensive. So going back to nature, because you'll appreciate this as a co-host and producer, co-producer of, you know, down-to-earth producer of it, it's like we stopped everything that's natural, yeah, and you just interviewed somebody about the sun and that's natural. You know, let's look at all the things that are natural and meant to be and how that was taken away.

29:24So we were stripped of our natural immunity through being told, hey, you don't need to breastfeed. And, you know, those women who can't, obviously that's a delicate subject and I honour you. Again, everyone's journey is so unique. But a lot of women are being taught how to breastfeed by not lactation consultants, but like midwives and only for the first three days in a hospital environment. not working with lactation consultants that help you understand it's a spiritual connection as well um and so yeah and then you know straight from birth like cut that cord no breastfeeding put you in a crib we're not synchronizing heartbeats and all of the things that are so immune boosting then of course we need extra nutrition we have problems with the way our occlusion sits and our palate as a result.

30:15That's what the breastfeeding does as well. And there's lots of research now. You don't only have to look at the work of Oscar Patel, where he talks about that jaw alignment. And then I'm a fan of obviously chiropractic care and how that's connected to the spine. But being in alignment actually helps us to age well. You know, the first thing that happens when we can see aging, when you look shorter, when your jaw is recessed, when your neck is in a forward incline all of those things show signs of aging and that i've got to be honest with you having chiropractic care on a weekly basis for almost 30 years is one of the reasons why i'm not aging the way other people do because i'm not freezing my face you can see it's moving right you want that you want you don't want muscle paralysis right you want things toxins exactly but you want things to move you only have to look at christopher reeve who became lax when he lost movement and movement runs the brain and that's connected to the earth as well like when the wind is moving the trees and then the trees fall these seeds into the ground and then that creates new life if we look at a pond and that water's stagnant then the fish in it die you know so again look at how connected we are to the earth we're actually the same we're 70 to 80 percent water right plants are 70 to 80 percent water do you know what else is 70 to 80 percent water yes there's a magic to the math for sure

31:49Darin Olien:yeah i mean that's the you know there's so much to how we got here and how we kind of how they or whatever you want kind of created this disconnection and the opportunity is exactly what you're talking about with connected with all of the things that you're doing is like let's re-empower ourselves with the right knowledge so that we can now take that on and and you know when did we stop asking questions and and when did we stop just accepting all of this stuff especially i can't imagine when you're carrying a child, I mean, the innate power of wanting to protect that child is beyond anything, right?

32:38Darin Olien:And so I'm sure that when you were pregnant, that also turned on this huge desire to, like, well, you were already there, but I'm sure, like, wanting a healthier world and supporting the birth process and everything else. What changed in you after you had your child? Everything. You thought you were busy. You have a kid and you know what busy is. But actually, it's a surrender. And I was lucky enough to be in contact with the best lactation consultants in the world. I never even heard that term before. Really? Yeah, lactation consultants. Can you believe there's even a job for that? Because if we were all sitting under a tree in Africa, let's say, and breastfeeding with our sisters, our aunties, our mothers and everything, it would all just be normal.

33:37But again, we've got the blankets over our heads and we're like hiding at homes and we've got a breastfeeding chair. But we should be like lying down in a sleep position with the baby under our arm, just like in the animal kingdom. And even that position, feeding in a lying down position, when both mum and baby fall asleep in that position after a feed, you release a CCK hormone, cholecystokinin, which puts both mum and baby into a much deeper sleep. So all these like new mums in the modern world are going, oh, I'm so sleep-trived, how can I do, give me coffee. It's just like if we only knew that information too, that could help us.

34:12So now I'm like, what was the question? I'm like, how did it change me? A surrender. I remember speaking to somebody from the Australian Breastfeeding Association every time I went to put Bodie down he went and I'm like I couldn't put him down I called him the Velcro baby and a lot of mums feel this and I got on the 1-800 mum to mum hotline and I was like what am I going to do and she said to me do you have to work today and I went not today she said how old is your child and I said, nine weeks old. And she said, keep holding him. He'll never be nine weeks old ever again. And that was a lesson for life to keep you in the moment.

34:56That child is actually saving you. Every time that child wants to be close to you, you're regulating hormones. You're synchronising breath, heartbeats, right? It knows. The child knows what you need too. You know, we've got to stop slowing. We've got to slow down and stop this, you know. And so when he was nine months old and perhaps he was getting molars or whatever, he'll never be this age again. And you think to yourself, why on earth did you have a baby if you can't enjoy it? But then everyone's like, well, we do live in a modern world, Andy, this is crazy. So, yes, we can wear our baby. And if you actually surrender to that child coming to you while you're working or bring it with you or normalise bringing your child to work, normalise breastfeeding, normalise all these things, co-sleeping safely.

35:50Obviously, if you're not on drugs and alcohol and medication, of course it's safe because you'll hear that baby cry. You touch it. You're in tune. It's only if you're off your head that you're not in tune to anything. And so that's why purification within yourself needs to happen so that you can be the healthiest you can be so that you can really live a beautiful connected life because that's what we're supposed to experience, not be like wasted and out of it. Because if you think about what the word wasted means, it means you're wasting life. And so, yeah, just really surrendering to all of those things because then the baby, they call it attachment parenting for a reason, it actually doesn't need you as much.

36:31It has what's called an emotional refuel. Think about when you're in a relationship with a partner. If you're like going, oh, it was too much, they want you more. And they're like, oh, I just need them to write back to me or whatever. But if you're like free and like easy and everything, that desire, that space for the desire happens. So, again, fire, fuel, space. Again, just looking at this and how you do anything is how you do everything. So looking at this from a very balanced way is healthy.

37:03Darin Olien:Yeah. you're such an interesting there's a lot of like I'm there's a lot of wisdom that you have and you know I've met a lot of a lot of authors but there's something different that I feel off of you it is it is not just words on a page but you have an innate wisdom that comes out of you I'm trying not to cry well that but that's different you're different it's true like there is something in your cells there's something in your being and that that is I haven't read all of these books but I feel it and and because the just the way that you are and the way that you answer there's different than someone regurgitating right and there's something else when something embodies and you embody wisdom and i'm really i'm just touched by that thank you and i can feel that which is why i'm crying i've never cried on a podcast before but i really really appreciate that you see me thank you for seeing me because my work is really important i'm really here for everybody else it's not about me and i think we get depressed when we a don't know what we're called to do be we forget that we're here to serve and I left Australia with two suitcases a bag of Lego and my child I was on Bondi Beach I had the best life but I came here to do podcasts like this and hopefully help others live a better quality of life because life is so short I mean the average person lives what until 82 that's 82 86 summers how old are you now and how many summers have you got left and what are you going to do with that time and do you want to be average anyway so life is just flying by you see people like rushing to the elevator with their yoga mat right hurrying up to slow down so true yeah and it's that it's that embodiment that that is and it's a beingness rather than of doing this right and and it's interesting that when you be a certain way and you're on purpose doing becomes like a pleasure it's the only thing that lights me up and everybody i want them to have the same i get that you know and so again who programmed you what's conditioned you to say you can't do that you can't paint washing machines that was just you know what i mean Yes, you can.

39:51Maybe that's what the world needs. I don't know. I just made that up because I'm a lover of improv. I was, you know, I'm here on an unscripted expert visa. So whatever comes to your mind is usually what's meant to come if you have pure intentions. It's always the answer. But, you know, this is what I'm saying. Like who are you to say that it's not possible? We need more creators in this world of AI, you know. We need to feel more so that we can create more because we're here to create and procreate. As simple as that. What are you creating today? If you're depressed, go back to service. If you're anxious, it's because you're not creating enough.

40:30Darin Olien:And in touch with the permission, and you gave yourself a permission, when people, everyone listening has a light touch of an awareness of life, telling them something and whispering a dream, it's it's the I think part of it is a lack of giving yourself permission to pursue the desire and the you know and again we go back to okay what are the stories that I am allowing me to suppress the thing that I truly want to be here for yeah you know and that's and that's the And it's also beautiful. It's a life experience here to unlock and reveal ourselves from something that we didn't have conscious awareness of.

41:21Darin Olien:We were born and things happen. No parents are perfect. Yeah. Sometimes we don't have parents. Exactly. So we have these traumas, micro traumas, big traumas, all of that stuff. We're informed with this stuff, but it's also it's a wild thing because it's also giving you superpowers. And at the same time, the ability to let go of those once traumas that potentially could be defining you. But what do you want to be defined by? Or don't let it define you. Let's let it shape you. Exactly. Because you can change a definition at any point, anytime. We only have to look at Bruce Lipton's biology of belief, epigenetics, all of the things.

42:03And actually that's incredible because not only is it our thoughts and foods that can change the way we age, it can change our genetic expression, but it's also through chiropractic that's changing signal from brain to body that changes the way our DNA expresses itself. He actually did some research because I met him when I was at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic and he did some research about chiropractic changing genetic expression. So they brought him over from America and I was a speaker there, you know, 20 years ago. I remember sitting next to him, you know, talking about this. And here I am, you know, 20 years later and still looking about the same age.

42:38But, you know, changing signal from brain to body is wild. And so I'm so glad that you brought up trauma, micro trauma, trauma. So I think, you know, in the book Connected, my favorite chapter is the last chapter. It's about perception. Perception is everything. How do we perceive what's happening to yourself, to the world, everything? It's up to you right and you can change that story or a thought can be changed like that so you know we've all heard about you know your cells are listening and everything they really are and on April Fool's I actually felt bad doing a joke to you because at the time I thought this isn't actually funny because the cells don't know the difference between truth or not like your biology believed it for that moment you're probably still getting over it well it's funny because there was

43:26Darin Olien:a lot going on because the first and this is i'm saying this for a reason to to make a point of what you're saying about thoughts right so my first thought is fuck i'm right i'm i'm literally parked i'm like i can't believe but then i was like very quickly i felt like and also how you said that it felt like oh there could be something real occurring for her yeah and i and what did i say are you okay oh my gosh that says a lot about you are you okay and I was like it's not okay I wasn't even gonna wait for you to respond I'm like I'm calling you but I wrote back I don't know and then I was like I can't do this anymore because I do know I don't know which felt intense and so I fucking called you and I was and I when I tell you my my my viking blood yeah norwegian was like what is i was going into what does she need what's going on i love that i started going into that because i felt so mean i had to tell you well because it but it went beyond like it's a pain in the ass that i'm here you know what i mean okay it's shifted into like what do i need to do yeah it's like here's this woman that has potential i don't know like you answered i are you okay i don't know what told me is like holy shit something's happening i was like i've got to stop this joke because now my biology is starting to believe it.

44:52And that's the point. It's not good. I like to joke myself into miracles are happening every day. I'm abundant. All of these things. Like if you can joke yourself into bad stuff, joke yourself into the good stuff. So this is what I was going to say, perfect co-host here, because I was going to segue into trauma. And let's address the elephant in the room. Treasured Chest, Exposing Explants and Empowering You is my 10th book. and it's the conduit for many other subjects around impossible beauty standards and the forever customer model. You know, the pharmaceutical industry of, no, you just need to replace your implants.

45:27No, you know, you need...

45:29Darin Olien:Let's keep you insecure so that we can sell you the fix. Yeah, or you're not sick. You're just perimenopausal or, you know, you're just an emotional woman or this is just autoimmune disease or it doesn't exist. BII, breast implant illness, isn't real. But actually last year they finally announced the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons finally announced that breast implant illness is real. But go and Google that. Yeah, and you can't find it on Google. You have to search it. I found it on their Instagram, the announcement, but it's like dug all the way. It's buried. Yes. So all these things getting swept under the carpet for decades, literally.

46:09So, you know, the upselling of secondary surgeries, would you like fries with that, a fat transfer or a lift? So when I wrote this book, I was like, I had to forgive myself for doing this to myself in the first place. There's a lot of deep shame that came with it. So you had it.

46:26Darin Olien:I had it. And like I cried rivers when I realized because I had it for eight years. Now, when I did it, it wasn't really for aesthetic reasons. And I'm getting dry now just thinking about it because in context, it's a trauma, a trauma that happened to me when I was eight years old. My innocence was taken away. You'll read about it in the book. And I never really felt like a woman. It's hard to say. And putting this device on my chest made me forget about who I was and made me feel like I was acting out this character of a woman that I wanted to be. That's deeply honest. And I forgot about this device in me because for a time it worked, didn't it?

47:12And I was finally able to have intimate moments in the way that I wanted to. And it was fantastic until one day my doctor, my diagnosing doctor said, Bella, she's a good friend of mine. We're co-managing patients together with her clinic, my clinic. You've got breast implant illness. I want you to read this book. I said, no, no, no, I don't. It's my PTSD.

47:34Darin Olien:You just started, yeah. I was like, I've got PTSD. but one day I was having a moment with my psychologist who I went like once every two weeks once a month I wanted to get better I don't like diagnosis I'm like that's two people that still don't know that's what the latin breakdown of that word is diagnosis two people that don't know like I tell you what I got you tell me I still don't know and let's prescribe something for it but anyway we'll go into that she said uh the the psychologist said I said something and she goes listen to you talking with all positive psychology this is just before I was about to get to America and I went yeah listen to me this is what I'm going to do and this is who I am she goes you don't have clinical depression anymore so that's when I went maybe I do have breast implant illness why do I still feel like I want to die why do I want to kill myself why do I have depression?

48:31Why do I have anxiety? Why can't I breathe properly? Why do I have no libido? Why can my eyes not blink properly without them feeling like dry? Why can't I sweat in the sauna? You know, all of these things. Why is my hair falling out rapidly? I thought that was just excess cortisol from the PTSD and all these things. But now things are shifting and I still felt sick. So I pushed and I pushed and I saw six different surgeons and all of them and the MRI I said, you're fine. So for two years, I was doctor hopping, begging to be triaged. Nobody picked up an undetected rupture, which was exactly where I was pinpointing it to be in the left side.

49:12So I finally had the explant. The surgeon woke me up, the professor, and he said, oh my gosh, you were right. The rupture was exactly where you were pinpointing it to be, and I need to go back and have a look at all of my patients now because you taught me something today. And so even he wrote the foreword in the book and he was like, I can't believe how intuitive Andy is. But a lot of women reading this are like, of course we are. We know our bodies. We've been medically gaslit. You just need to listen to us. So then let's go back to like, who's really in control and who wants to keep us under control.

49:52And then now let's look at the history of women because beauty is pain we know that with the concubines when we bandaged up our feet made them fit into these shoes in china we know that stomachs and our rib cages with corsets look at the history of keeping women under control for beauty and then look what king henry the eighth did when he put his pregnant wives birthing in stirrups

50:17Darin Olien:it is crazy so it's all micro prisons it's sick it's unbelievable it's sick and it comes back to birthing. And it comes back to the attachment from the man with his mother because it's a largely male-dominated industry. The way breast implants were created were two ER surgeons running through the ward and this one surgeon held up a bag of blood and said to his colleague, oh, this kind of feels like a breast. Mate, can you tell me what that must be like when you're operating on someone who's dying and you're thinking about a breast in your hand. So disconnected. That's how breast implants were developed.

51:03Wow. So, yes, I implanted because of trauma reasons, not just aesthetic reasons. And a lot of my readers are starting to join the dots and going, you reminded me of a trauma I had too. So yes, it's kind of like it's attracting a certain type of people. The more we heal our trauma, the more we change a perception of what happened to us and for us and turn that pain into purpose that everybody talks about and grateful for the lesson. That's when you're winning. That's when you're slowing aging. because I can tell you right now I have been on my knees going, not again, God. What do I need to learn now?

51:51And then I've gone, wow, I get it. This is another test. Now I'm an expert in this subject matter. Now I'm an expert in that subject matter. Now I'm going to pay it forward.

52:01Darin Olien:Yeah, and I think it's such an important distinction which also goes back to your embodiment when you lean into the uncomfortable and the pain and this thing about me that I want to avoid or that I want to cover up or overcompensate for, whatever that is, but leaning into it, the other side of it is this liberation and opportunity. And that is what I feel from you. right so it's like you've worked through things you've leaned you've worked your muscle of leaning into pain leaning into pain yeah so and but that's the that's that's the difference that we need to shift in the world because everyone is avoiding pain right all the time when in fact it's turning into it also ownership where is this how effect what kind of effect is this having on me yeah and and where did that come from yeah where have i felt that before taking responsibility no v for victims accountability accountability and then the and then through that which is not comfortable sometimes through it is the surrender and the and the magnif the magnificence yeah you know don't give me an easier path give me stronger legs give me the magic that's what living's about even in relationships people avoid diving into a relationship because i don't want to get hurt or i don't want to hurt you yeah you're going to do it then but yeah what you resist persists what you fear you attract but then you don't have that life experience you're missing out on what you could be learning from each other yeah and so the pain is is incredible it's so perceptive of you to even see that and bring that up well it's it's you know it's like my little investigation of like because you're you know when you feel something different from somebody I'm feeling it like it's hitting me in areas and then I'm I'm having this experience so then it's like I'm speaking to an energy yes right rather than trying to like sort that out just speaking just throwing it here and then and then and then it starts to make sense that these books for you were the lean-ins of something that you were probably discovering about yourself.

54:42Darin Olien:The lean-ins, the lessons, and the beauty of energy. So let's segue into that because I was last month on the cover of Women's Fitness magazine. I never would have thought that a 52-year-old woman would get on the cover of that. Energy over aesthetics. Wow. Okay. That's cool. Because you are not your age. You are your energy. and what energy are you attracting but what energy are you allowing to emit because if you're picking up on my energy and your energy and we're mere reflections of each other we're emitting and reflecting off one another and here's my problem with not just breast implants but botox right because it's muscle paralysis think about how many relationship breakdowns there are when you cannot read the person's face.

55:31Darin Olien:Yeah. It's also symbolic. But where's the connection? If I can't read you, how am I going to communicate with you? Yeah, exactly. It's like I don't want you to know how I'm... I'm fine. I'm fine. But then if that's working for them, what does that say about the relationship too? Right. I'm not going to let you see who I truly am. Bam. Where is the ecstasy and the magic and the orgasms that might come from really seeing the whole person? And where am I ashamed of not showing up as full me in the world? Yeah. Right? Yeah. You can't fully see me. Yeah. I don't want to fully show my thoughts, feelings, emotions, ideas, concepts, love.

56:18Darin Olien:Like, no, I'm just going to be this. It's symbolic as well as literal. Yep. This is mind blowing, isn't it? Didn't I tell you though, before I started the show, I was like, there's a whole docuseries I want to talk to you about. That's a big one. I know. It's like you could dive into like a 10 part series on all of the disconnect that really. A million part series. You could do it for the rest of your life with all this shit. As long as we keep reconnecting and allowing us to reconnect, we're winning because there are a a lot of powers that be that don't want us to connect. And it started with becoming a docile society.

56:59I did some research on health history. And, you know, it started with being sold World War I to the public. It wasn't really a thing. We were sold division. And so I found this really fascinating because there was a man called Edward L. Bernays. Have you heard of him?

57:18Darin Olien:I think so. His uncle was Sigmund Freud, the psychiatrist. And Edward L. Bernays was asked to have an assignment on selling World War I to the public. So he asked his uncle if he could have his papers on how to manipulate the minds of the people. So he sent him his thesis and in return the story goes that he sent him a box of cigars to say thank you. And so Edward L. Bernays then learned how to manipulate the minds of the public. He successfully sold World War I to the public. And then his next assignment, they called it propaganda. It wasn't PR anymore. So his next assignment was to sell cigarettes to women and deem them healthy.

58:04And then it kept going from there, creating a docile consumer type society where we could just continue consumerism

58:13Darin Olien:consumerism and therefore be happy yeah yeah we're gonna we're gonna sell you things first we're gonna tell you you're not happy and over and over and over again then we're gonna sell you something that we're gonna tell you will make you happy yeah and then we're gonna keep programming that over and over and over again because the power the power that we have innately is unstoppable Oh, wow. That's why they're trying to stop us. You know, the things that we have imagined and then the things that have stopped that pineal gland from working and we can no longer imagine and create, that's profound because what we can create is beyond what you can even imagine.

59:02It's that energy that you're talking about, which is just you can't even discuss it because we still don't know. The more we learn about the body, the more we realise we don't know much about who we truly are. And I used to actually interpret dreams. That was my first job in radio. And it was just because when I was little I just knew how to interpret dreams. And, you know, I researched lucid dreaming and my dreams would come true or I would dream that somebody was pregnant and the next day they would call me and say, hey, I want to tell you something. You're pregnant. You know, just things like that.

59:34but I often used to think that maybe our dream state was the real world and this was all just

59:40Darin Olien:a dream I don't know like it's just I think that's probably closer to the truth I just feel like that's why when we look at things like that we really just have to make every day count exactly and you know and the reclaiming of our true nature however we need to do that because the reality is we could die any point like and I experienced near death with the breast implant illness you know um I was dying because my body was slowly shutting down I knew what that felt like that's why I wanted to commit suicide because my body was actually shutting down yeah so let's complete that little thought here so so after you then fully go oh I have it get it out of me yeah get it out like now so you you get it out what was that then what was the emotional journey the physical journey spiritual journey of like because I would imagine there's some reclamation there yeah so what was that like after you had it when women get ready to shed and come back to their organic divine states again that's why I've called it treasured chest not breasts not tits not jugs, boobies, whatever.

1:00:51That's what got us into this mess because what's behind the chest is the heart. That's why on the cover I'm holding my heart, not my breasts, you know, and just honouring who you really are and reclaiming your divine organic female state again is massive. This is an inflammatory driver, this product, you know. It creates a cytokine storm because we were talking about what goes in must come out eventually because that creates a massed cell activation syndrome, MCAS, this foreign body within the body just does a systemic shutdown. So they're calling it breast implant illness, but it's an entire systemic response.

1:01:29It really needs a new name because that's the mechanistic view. The allopathic view is just looking at that area and going, that area is sick. Is there contracture? Is there a rupture? No, no, no. So you've got an aesthetic result. You look fine. So therefore you're fine. And it's the first time that we've actually gone to a doctor for aesthetics first and health second wow where's the hippocratic oath do no harm and so because i looked fine and i could put on makeup and show up for an hour a day and whatever people thought i was fine i was dying and so when i finally removed this inflammatory driver and the surrounding scar tissue because the body is so wise that it immediately creates surrounding capsule to wall it off and protect it from going into the rest of the system however the capsule is still the system so this entire system's like going what do I do I'm incredibly adaptive I'll do this for and then it just starts to shut down like I couldn't even pass a stool for it was five days but then just before the operation it was 10 days I said if I don't get this out of me now I'm dying so as soon as I woke up I was like I actually said put me to the sun move my I was out of it and I was like move my bed to the sun because I just needed that light and then I slowly came out of it after the professor was saying you were right there was a rupture exactly where you were pinpointing it to be and he kind of laughed it off and I was thinking to myself I'm out of it but dude this isn't funny right and um then I was like my libido's back instantly I remember walking around not the next day but the day after i was in bondi beach and i was like there's a hot guy right you know all of a sudden your body comes back online i just remembered i was not into it for like a good couple of years and then all of a sudden i was like yeah healthy that was a sign of health you

1:03:25Darin Olien:know it's amazing how how strong the body is yeah like it wants it wants to heal if we get this stuff out of the way and get these things out. It, again, has all of nature, all of the universe, the God force of it all is coming through us. That's who we are. Well, you have to look at those means where you see the concrete with a little bit of a crack and then the life still comes through with the plant. It finds a way to find the light. And if the life is still there, it will find the light and it has a will to live. But not only live, it has a will to thrive. Because that's who we are. And so let's go back to the language of what chiropractors are looking for when they're actually instilling life back into the body through a life-saving and life-changing adjustment, which is a scientific and specific location and correction of nervous system interference, which they call vertebral subluxation.

1:04:25The word sub means? Like submarine? Yeah.

1:04:32Darin Olien:Underneath. Yeah, like under. Yeah. Sub, under, or less than, like subtraction. Lux in Latin means, do you know? It means light or life. Lux. If you think about when things are lux, they have, yeah. They measure light through lux, of course. Isn't that gorgeous? So the derivative, like the language means subluxation means a condition of the body void of life or light. And when a chiropractor instills this scientific specific location and correction and allows the spine to have space for life to come through the nerves, which is life force from our brain, our nerves, our spinal cord, it's all connected.

1:05:20Now that's connected to the universal intelligence, which is running our innate intelligence. all of a sudden that's why posture is the window to our health all of a sudden we're in alignment our cells are singing because the nervous system is the master controller the nervous system is what is controlling the immune system the endocrine system the musculus it's the master it's the master controller it's the conductor of the orchestra so this is why living a chiropractic lifestyle helps you to not only stay in alignment structurally but on every level and it's how we

1:05:56Darin Olien:age less yeah it removes the obstructions and allows for flow and when there's flow there's healing and fluid and conductivity and communication and energy and energy yeah and so think of the spine and the nervous system as an electricity or electrical power board and when you have a vertebral subluxation let's say in an area then that's just the flip switch it's been switched off and then when you remove that subluxation give the body life and light again you're literally turning that light switch on or that that circuit board turn on the circuit board again this happens i just blew a circuit the other day and just go click click ah there we go but of course there There are myths and misconceptions around the profession.

1:06:44And I believe that's because it's one of the fastest growing professions in the world that doesn't use drugs or surgery and can give you health by just making the body work better. And there is no money in pharmaceuticals if we do that.

1:06:57Darin Olien:I mean, listen, we could spend and we probably should another few hours unpacking a lot of stuff because, you know, the homeopathic history, which is also wild and amazing. and Flexner Report and the development of the AMA and all of this stuff and the attack of this alternative world, which has a longer history than our current situation anyway. So there's a lot to unpack there. So if anyone's thinking about explanting or knows somebody that has breast implants and they've got symptoms that won't go away, headaches, whatever, it's really time to have a look at that inflammatory driver. Make sure you go for the right surgeon that knows how to remove that scar tissue as well, which is called an en bloc surgery, because if there is an undetected rupture, then you need to pull the implant bag out with the capsule as well to keep it contained.

1:07:51Yeah.

1:07:52Darin Olien:Yeah, so is there resources for that or is it just should people just start asking? My book. I'm so glad you asked. And when does that come out? Treasure Chest is out now on Amazon, yeah. Boom! shameless self-promotion but but it's not again it's not it's not for me yeah it's not promotion to promote a book it's to to inform women a very serious situation the last thing i wanted to do was write this book i was still healing i was like my publicity was like get this book out now it's breast cancer awareness month in october you know and and you got three months and i was like what I wrote this book in three months most of my books take a year or three I do not know how I did this it's just it was just flowing that's that's that's insane that's a superpower oh my god thank you so much thank you for who you are what you stand for and and all that you're doing and all that you're still to do thank you for everything you do as well so that I could have the opportunity to reach more people here we go let's keep doing it thank you thanks

Connect with Darin Olien: Key Takeaway

"The body is not broken. It's constantly communicating, adapting, protecting, and trying to guide us back into alignment. But modern life has disconnected us from that wisdom. Real healing begins the moment we stop suppressing the signals, start listening deeply, and reconnect to nature, purpose, vulnerability, and the innate intelligence already living inside of us."
