0:32Darin Olien:One of the biggest questions I get constantly is, Darren, where can I find the best non-toxic cookware? Listen, I don't mess around with things that go ultimately in my body. And that includes what I cook with. That's why I swear by Our Place. Because from day one, they've been committed to making clean, healthy, non-toxic cookware. and kitchenware. No sketchy coatings, no forever chemicals, just pure conscious design that are beautiful as well as highly functional. I've been using their titanium always pan for months now. It's the only pan I cook with and here's why. Pure titanium, non-toxic PFAS free.
1:26Darin Olien:Extremely durable, metal utensils, high heat, dishwasher safe. This thing can handle it all. All in one performance. The best stainless steel cast iron nonstick in a single pan. And here's the real kicker. Most nonstick pans, they're still loaded with PFAS, these forever chemicals that break down in your body and stay in your body, and they accumulate over time. We just don't need that. They disrupt the gut microbiome, testosterone, dysregulation, metabolic issues, hormone imbalances, immune dysfunction, and chronic inflammation they contribute to. Think about it. Every time you cook, you could be introducing toxins into your body, and the simple act of switching to safe cookware eliminates that.
2:17Darin Olien:This is why it's the easiest, most powerful change you can make, certainly in your kitchen, for long-term health and the elimination of toxic exposure.
2:28Danny Morel:So stop cooking with toxic cookware.

2:51Darin Olien:Today's guest is Danny Morrill, a visionary leader and life transformation coach who walked away from a billion dollar real estate empire to find the truth about life and himself. Danny's journey of deep self-discovery began after the passing of his mother, which forced him to confront the hallow nature of external success and external validation. In this moving, powerful conversation, Danny shares how we can literally rewire our lives by healing the relationships we have with our parents, transforming them from resources of pain into figures of kings and queens within our own hearts. We dive into the intense experiences with plant medicine, the necessity of facing our deepest fears, and why breathwork is the most direct portal to the divine.
3:53Darin Olien:Danny explains that the world is simply a mirror of our internal state, and by taking the elevator from our head to our heart, we can manifest our lives of true abundance and peace. This was a powerful podcast to me. It became personal in a good way, brought up some stuff to which I'm still processing today.
4:16Danny Morel:Welcome and enjoy this powerful podcast with Danny Morrill.
4:21Darin Olien:Welcome to the show, by the way. We're just kind of organically moving into it. But, you know, there was a moment, and I think you'd appreciate this, early in my, you know, when I was living in, had a lot of spiritual upticks and awakenings. And one was in Boulder, Colorado. I was studying with a lot of Lakota. I was doing a lot. So I went through some shit. And a friend goes, hey, come do a ceremony. And so I just, like, hooked in. and every weekend I was doing an EBS and sweat lodges and stuff and this one guy shows up one day and he's got this old native dude got a cowboy hat on he just starts speaking it's like one of those guys you're just going he goes in the lodge and he starts really decoding exactly what everything meant.
5:22Darin Olien:Why we go this direction. Why the four stages. Why this. Why that. And he said this. He goes, I never understand why children have their brains on their backs. And we're like, what? And then I was like, oh, backpacks. and he goes because all things come from here i ask and it comes and he was the smartest guy in almost any room chemistry physics didn't study any of it and i think of that story now because what what is ai then doing right it's it's some outside thing that we're asking these questions rather than go in, be silent, listen.
6:21Danny Morel:And as such, we're giving our power away.
6:24Darin Olien:Totally.
6:25Danny Morel:Yeah. And I want to speak to, you said, it felt like this man had a massive impact on you.
6:32Darin Olien:Yeah.
6:34Danny Morel:In particular, his wisdom. And you said he's the smartest guy in any room and he didn't study any of it. And what I have found is if we actually go inward, if we actually go into silence, all of the answers that we've ever been looking for about life are literally there. We're just so busy looking for knowledge in other people and places and sources because in truth, we don't trust ourselves. We don't trust our own innate power. And quite frankly, it's a sign that we're disconnected from the divine, quite frankly.
7:20Darin Olien:Yeah, and that's, you know, it's, I mean, it's your core message always, right? And it's, we share that in the sense that it's this world that's so distractive in so many ways and getting more so. and the seeking, I think even if it's outward, we know deep down inside that we're seeking something more than whatever this shit is providing us, giving us our answers. And just like you went on your own journey, you're facilitating a lot of people, but yet you still provide space and time for yourself to go deeply in.
8:03Danny Morel:That's right. Yeah, I was just in Kauai, like I mentioned to you. The way that works is that the best way I can describe it is I'm on a journey of seeking truth. And truth requires no belief. Belief is actually the opposite of truth. If someone is telling you to believe them, then there's space there's room that it might have been something that they had concocted and so I did that for most of my life particularly with religion and I was all in I was the good boy I went to church I fed the poor I baptized people I did I did the altar call I did everything and you know I share the story in the book but And so did my mom.
9:05Danny Morel:And when my mom died and I literally held her in my arms, all these questions started appearing because nothing made sense to me anymore. Because I was told if I believed what they were telling me and if I did all of this stuff and if I was a good boy, that life would be great. And yet deep inside, man, I was miserable. And her death is actually, you know, it's as if she went to the other side and said, okay, it's time. Because when our parents die, they are reunited with love. They're reunited with the divine. And even though they couldn't love us here in our physical life, even though they couldn't be the parents that we wish that they were, that our hearts really yearned for, once they go to the other side they're back you know all of that earthly karma is gone and now they're back with God they're back with oneness and so it's like they're looking down on us and they start you know kind of like we're like little puppets go over here and go over there so that you know hopefully they love us so much that they want us to experience love not when we're gone but when we're here Yeah, I mean, the loss of, I lost my dad 20-some years ago.
10:37Darin Olien:And it's an interesting thing exactly to that point when I realized I feel he's physically not here, but I feel closer to him because all of the veils drop and then he's just a champion. is just like, yeah, every so often you want to physically go, I really wish he was here to see this or work with me on that. But it pales in comparison to the juice. And ancestrally, I don't know if you dug into all that.
11:14Danny Morel:100%.
11:14Darin Olien:It's wild.
11:16Danny Morel:Well, you know, one of the most beautiful things you can do that will change your life forever is like just close your eyes and sit comfortably and see yourself as a little boy or girl and as you see yourself as a little boy or girl just picture over your right shoulder your dad and over your left shoulder your mom and when you picture your dad, I want you to picture the most handsome, glorious, he's in his best suit, he's got the most beautiful smile, he's like the dad that you wished would have been here for you in physical life. And when you picture your mom, you can do the same thing. You can see her as the most glorious, is happy, free, loving, caring version of herself.
12:18Danny Morel:Literally, you see your mother and father as kings and queens, and you revisit that moment and that feeling, it changes your life forever. Because the one thing about the human experience is that we are continuously living in the pain of the past. And the way that we see our mother and father is literally the way that we see ourselves. So we can find space within ourselves to see them as that version of them that we wish we would have experienced. We could literally rewrite our life. It allows us to let go of the past and create a brand new vision of what they are and what they could be for us, which changes our lives forever.
13:11Danny Morel:And we have the power to do that. Right.
13:15Darin Olien:Yeah, that's a big piece of the healing part that you have in the book. I mean, there's just, I mean, there's so many different, there was so much, even reading, there was so many moments. I mean, even plant medicine moments where I'm like, I didn't let go enough, or I perceived I didn't let go enough, and I saw my ego, you know, and it shows up even now, but the, I'm feeling it right now, that's why. What are you feeling? Well, it's, you know, I think, I don't mean to get into all this, but I guess it's here. But this year has been one of the gnarliest years of my life, just from really a deep physical pain that just really got me driving back down to my birth, a very traumatic birth.
14:30Darin Olien:I almost died. and uh and that physicality got me to drive it dive in so deep that i and i never even told anyone i went and did another plant medicine i haven't done a plant medicine journey since the first one i did ayahuasca was in 2000 no 1998 99 and uh it was also gnarly it messed me up maybe it was facilitation maybe it was whatever but after the ceremony it there was some things going on it was pretty intense and I was like that door is not opening again yeah and I opened it again just because of the pain good for you and uh there wasn't like I was
15:20Danny Morel:like it was a lot of fear because well I took a lot of courage because I don't know if I could
15:26Darin Olien:I can't I would describe where I was as the most painful gnarly physical existence it was like receiving a bunch of information and not knowing what to do with it and then I was kind of like a zombie for about a month like straight jacket shit you know and I had to call myself back like piece by piece. And so I had a lot of resistance to even look at any of plant medicine. So anyway, I went in and I was like really good facilitation, incredible people, which really helped the first anxiety. And then when I get in, you know, there's a lot of even ayahuasca stuff that I still had to heal. And I felt like even in the journey, I was just battling.
16:24Darin Olien:The first round for nine hours, I felt like I was soaked physically, and I just felt like I was battling my ego. And I don't even know if I still have it all figured out in terms of there's a knowing I live by every day. that's why when i read your stuff and i started resonating with you while i was reading i could like stuff is starting to and i think that's your point that's the purpose that's the purpose of the book it's a physical book but yet there's an energy that's and i've never i don't know if i've really felt that before it surprised me because i was like oh wow um and maybe it's the way you write Maybe it's the whatever synchronicity, serendipity, resonance.
17:20Darin Olien:And the second journey I did after that, because I literally felt beat up. And then the second one I kind of went in with like, well, we don't get to, I'd love to get your point of view on this too. Sure, sure. Because it's not like we get to live without the ego. Right? But that its orientation is different. I don't feel like I lead from that. Right. Certainly. I don't do anything that I don't first have humanity in my mind.
18:02Danny Morel:Yeah.
18:07Darin Olien:But I still feel like I'm holding on to something. that maybe the ayahuasca, maybe the thing, maybe it showed me something that I, it's kind of right there. I was getting, my heart was beating a little bit, and I was like, oh, I know what that feels like. I know the ego doesn't want to, for lack of a better word, die. That's exactly, yeah. Right? It doesn't want to. Mm-hmm. Then it can put up a fight. Yeah. Yeah. So kind of through that, every day since then and beyond, and every day I spend a lot of time in the morning and I do my ritual and I do my things. And so my question, I guess, is I'm always like a bull in a china shop when it comes to like let's get at the truth.
19:06Darin Olien:Let's go for it no matter what. Like I'm here and I'm not just going to coast. Right. Like this is life. That's right. And I'm going to fucking every mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, abundantly, all of it. Amen. And that's what I, and from the battle that I had, I was, at the other time, I was just like fucking let's go. And so from there, this whole year has been dumping and cleaning.
19:36Darin Olien:And a lot has shifted. A lot has changed. A lot of relationships have reflected differently. And it's like, oh, my God, that's fucking wild. So I'm continuously, I don't know. I'm all over the place.
19:53Danny Morel:That's all right.
19:57Darin Olien:And I definitely don't desire the limits of the ego to lead in any part of my life. That is clear. But it's slippery sometimes. It catches. So I don't even know what I'm asking.
20:19Danny Morel:How was your relationship with your mom?
20:25Darin Olien:Good. And she was kind of a person over here. My dad, I learned later, he was an asshole and a drunk and got sober, and he was an asshole, and then he got sober, and we became incredible friends because I saw a spirit in him, and we'd talk about it. And then it was like, oh, my God, we understand each other. My mom was kind of like a shell of herself. and was just kind of challenged. And they weren't good for each other, and they got divorced when I was 18. When I went through the ceremony, I saw what she had held together as a family. Dad was a drunk at that time. I was born with my brother, and I almost died.

21:19Darin Olien:I was premature. And then I saw my mom, and I was like, holy shit, she's a badass. hmm she does we we can't talk in the same way yeah you know we can't she doesn't even know what I do she doesn't have a computer like she's she's in some respects she's still at this distant kind of figure but I take care of her and I love her so I feel you and I feel you searching and
21:56Danny Morel:like wanting to arrive. It's really interesting to me that you brought up dad. And when I mentioned mom, you went like that. Mom is self and dad is others. And so whenever you are coming up against an issue in your life where you don't feel worthy, where you feel in your head, where you feel like you're fighting. And it's internal. It's mom. In this case, when you mentioned mom was good, good is not enough for a little boy. because a little boy, all he wants is connection, love to be held. He wants softness.
23:03Darin Olien:And when he doesn't get that, he starts to fight within himself.
23:10Danny Morel:And it's a lifelong fight because he's trying to understand why didn't I get the love that my heart needed? And so Ayahuasca, who was the ultimate feminine, the ultimate grandmother, the fighting and the journey was simply showing you in many ways, brother, the way you're fighting with life to try to understand up here what your heart didn't receive. in here. Does that land for you? Yeah. And what I have been fortunate in my journey to be able to do, and if I could offer you any advice, I would say, let's disassociate from calling it the ego. because when we do, we immediately think of it as something wrong.
24:17Darin Olien:Right, or out there. Or out there, or that's controlling me, or that it's doing this thing to me.
24:24Danny Morel:Think of it as the self. Maybe the small self. Maybe the scarce self. But the self.
24:33Darin Olien:I'd like to take a quick break from this episode to thank our sponsor, Fatty15. That's right. I wanna talk about something that isn't talked about enough, keeping our cells healthy. Here's what I'm doing now to prioritize cellular health, supplementing with this new, exciting research, and it's called Fatty15. Fatty15 has three times more cellular benefit than omega-3s or fish oil. This is dietary odd chain saturated fatty acids, OCFAs. There are present trace levels in dietary fat, some fish, and plants. Higher circulating concentrations of this OCFS. We realize through the research that higher circulating concentrations of this is extremely good for us.
25:29Darin Olien:It is called pentadonic caonic acid or C15. Omega-3 fish oils and algae oils often go bad before they're even in the bottle. That's right. They're susceptible to oxygen and sunlight and the supplements can't even help to improve our health usually. But fatty 15 or C15 naturally protects against damaging oxidation both in the bottle and in your body. If you want to get a little more science-y about it, studies show that C15 works by strengthening our cells, improving our mitochondria function, and protecting us against damage from free radicals on a very deep level. The result? Better long-term metabolic liver and heart health functioning.
26:19Darin Olien:It ends up many of us are massively deficient in C15, which results in weaker and weaker cells that makes us have less energy. And we quit working earlier. We're seeking to find that energy. Where is it? All of this makes us age faster and faster. And the science around this is so fascinating. We sleep poorly, we feel sluggish, and we're all looking to feel better and have more energy. Does it sound familiar? Fatty 15 is science-backed, award-winning, vegan-friendly, and pure C15 supplement. That's it. By replenishing ourselves with this newly discovered C15, the nutrient of fatty 15 effectively repairs our cells and restores our long-term health.
27:16Darin Olien:That's when you have to celebrate science. When science discovered something sitting there all along. After 90 years of discovering essential fatty acids like omega-3, 6, and 9, we now have discovered this incredible odd chain saturated fat C15. Fatty15 is on a mission to replenish your C15 levels and restore your long-term health. And I'm with them in that. You can get an additional 15 % off your 90-day subscription starter kit by going to Fatty15, F-A-T-T-Y-1-5.com slash Darren, D-A-R-I-N, or use the code Darren, D-A-R-I-N, at checkout. You will not want to miss this incredible deal and this incredible uptick to your healthy cells.
28:14Danny Morel:The part of you that is trying to keep an identity, the part of you that is trying to stay here, the part of you that is trying to make sense of everything in life, all of that is correlated to what the little boy inside of you was trying to make sense of when he didn't feel loved. And when we stop looking at it as the ego and we start looking at it as the self, it's like a little doorway opens. Because the deeper you go in spirituality, you start to realize that the journey is really all about not conquering the self or killing the self or all of these harsh words that we come up with. But just letting go of the self.
29:07And that's what enlightenment is, is the complete dissolving of the self, all of the worrying, all of the doubt, all of the judgment, all of the comparison, all of all of it.
29:23Danny Morel:And what you may be experiencing is just a resistance to that. And the way to move past that is to start allowing. like I literally want you to meditate on your mom being the most loving, kind. What did you feel when I just said that?
29:42Darin Olien:It's that the feeling that I had growing up was just she wasn't there. Right. And even though she was there later, she was emotionally gone.
29:57Danny Morel:And that for a little boy is everything.
30:01Darin Olien:Right.
30:01Danny Morel:That's the piece. That's why we're all hurting so much. So if you could every day, even she's still here, yeah?
30:09Darin Olien:Yeah.
30:09Danny Morel:Even though she's still here, I want you to start like spending time with what that would feel like to have the most loving mother on planet Earth. And allow it. Allow is the feminine. Yeah. When we start to allow it in, I know it's going to be uncomfortable. I know it's going to be weird. I know you're going to get mad. I know all of it because I've been there myself. Can you allow it all to come? And slowly as you do that, what happens is that the heart starts to open and this starts to, because you start to create a new reality. And that's the ability that human beings have, is to literally recreate our reality.
30:55Danny Morel:and it all comes through our mom and dad and our relationship with them.
31:00Darin Olien:Well, I'll commit to do that. Yeah, beautiful. Yeah, because it's...
31:04Danny Morel:And you got to come to Awaken. You're my guest. Yeah, we're going to be here in LA at the end of the year.
31:10Darin Olien:Oh, no way. Yeah, yeah, yeah. At the end of this year? Yeah. Nice.
31:13Danny Morel:Yeah, it'll just... Yeah, it's like being on ayahuasca without ayahuasca for three days. And it's so beautiful because you get to look at and deal with all of your shit. And you get to do it with other people that are strangers. And where the mind and that self says, like, you know, be careful with strangers. Imagine what it would feel like if you could feel so open with life that they're no longer a stranger, that they're literally your brother and sister. And it just, it shifts everything.
31:51Darin Olien:Yeah, beautiful. Feels good.
31:53Danny Morel:Yeah.
31:53Darin Olien:Just the perception. Yeah. Love it all. Yeah, so, I mean, so, you know, you were all in on religion. You had a thriving career. You were cranking. Mm-hmm. And then what happened? Tell us.
32:21Danny Morel:Everything fell apart. Yeah. As it's going to. Right now, society is in a place where we are all, based on our fear and our disconnection to our essence, creating these images of who we are. we've got beautiful boobs a beautiful ass a beautiful car beautiful followers the beautiful show the beautiful purrs the beautiful business the beautiful everything and what we unknowingly are doing is we're creating all of this mirage to say, please like me for what I do, what I look like, not for who I am. Because if our mom and dad couldn't love us for who we were, which is the story that the self creates, then how can you?
33:29Danny Morel:And I was the king of that, man. I had the big, beautiful business with the big, beautiful house, with the big, beautiful car, with the big beautiful watches, with the big beautiful suits, everything. And inside, I had no idea who I actually was. As a matter of fact, I was afraid of it. And when my mom died, all of these questions started appearing like I mentioned in the book. The first one was, are you happy? I was fucking scared of that one because I knew the answer.
34:04Darin Olien:Yeah.
34:05Danny Morel:How could you possibly be happy if your entire day is focused on being elsewhere other than right here? How could you possibly be happy if your entire life is focused on a certain dollar amount that you want to earn? How could you possibly be happy if your entire existence is focused on how you look, how others perceive you, on the amount of followers that you have, on all of this shit, quite frankly, that we in society today now look at and go, wow, they made it. Bullshit. I'm actually going to say that the people that we think made it because we see based off of the outside, their exterior are actually some of the most wounded little boys and girls out there.
35:03Danny Morel:Yeah.
35:04Darin Olien:And then they become the idols.
35:07Danny Morel:And that's what society wants. Society wants you constantly looking out there for the answer, out there for the knowledge, out there for the solution. It wants you looking at others and comparing yourself to others. And the truth is, is that the answer and the one that you've been looking for all along is in here. And so what happened to me, man, is that I just started asking myself questions. Are you happy? Are you in love? Do you love what you do? Who are you? And I just, and it kept hitting me and hitting me and hitting me and there was nowhere to run. And the suit and the car and the house, none of that was there to protect me.
35:50Danny Morel:And I couldn't shake it. I couldn't shake it. So guess what? It's either I was going to go crazy or I had to face it. and I faced it and then I faced it again and I faced more of it and I faced more of it and I kept facing it until I faced every single fear that I had within myself I faced every single
36:15Darin Olien:lie that I had created so that people could like me and I told myself I would rather live in a
36:23Danny Morel:cardboard box. I would rather not have a dollar to my name. I would rather be on the corner of a street begging for food than to ever live my life in a constant state of wanting you to accept me. Because that is a highway to never finding peace.
36:47Darin Olien:Yeah. And you really, I mean, and, you know, It's interesting when you have conversations and you say that, but you actually did it. The descriptions you have of literally diving into shame, diving into guilt, diving into fear. It's not just think about it and that you're good or just write a journal entry. No, no.
37:14Danny Morel:I'll tell you a story. I'll tell you a story. I was in an ayahuasca ceremony. At that time, it was probably like my 11th or whatever, you know. And I want to get to, I had a very similar first experience with ayahuasca. I'll share with you later. But in that ceremony, it was so profound that I had to run. Physically. Yeah, I ran out of the house.
37:44Darin Olien:Uh-oh, we've got a runner.
37:45Danny Morel:I'm the biggest runner chicken shit there is. I'm him. I'm him, right? And so I run out of the house, and I'll never forget, it's a full moon. And the full moon is out, and it's like, I know I want to run, but I can't run. So I just, like, sit down on the grass, and I lay down, and I look at the full moon, and I feel her, I feel her literally go like this, and sink me into the earth. And she says, it's time to sit with you. and I remember going like this fuck that no no no I have to go help people I have to go talk to them I have to go make sure that they're all okay I have to go she goes uh uh it's time to sit with you and she wouldn't let me move and what I realized in that moment was that and you can actually see it in my astrology chart this is the beauty of all of this it's all connected but when you look in my chart, you can actually see that I have a propensity to give up myself so that other people are happy.
38:55Darin Olien:Okay, everybody, are you ready to upgrade your operating system? I know I am. I'm always game to do that. Not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. 40:29Danny Morel:I hide my truth so that other people are happy, right? And what she made me do in that day was sit with myself for the first time, which is the thing that I had been avoiding all along. That breath, that landed. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that was a powerful moment for me. Because when you actually sit with yourself and you actually reconnect to your essence, there's very little to say. Yeah? in my case at the time I'm the speaker and I host events and I'm doing all these these things supposedly to help you bullshit it was all for me it was all for me and um and it changed my life it changed my life and it was the most difficult thing I had ever done because I wanted to get out of there sure and at the very end I just kept asking how much time how much left I kept crying and weeping like I couldn't move brother it's like I had like 80 bricks on the middle of my chest and I was connected to the ground and I told myself I'm never doing this shit again you had that moment right I'm never doing this again and the shaman comes up to me and she goes
41:44Darin Olien:mijito my son
41:46Danny Morel:she goes you know the most bravest thing that you can do is take the medicine when you don't want to take the medicine.
41:57Darin Olien:And I'm crying and I'm out by my knees and she's, and I'm like, I'm never doing this again. I'm never, she goes, yes.
42:04Danny Morel:And it's time to drink more.
42:06Darin Olien:And I said, I literally was like,
42:09Danny Morel:I'm not doing it. She's like, you have to. Because the part of you that doesn't want to do it is the part of you that is afraid. And who you are in your essence, in your masculine, in your power, you see what i'm saying you see what i'm saying who you are in your essence in your power yeah and the only way if you have a heart's desire to actually help other people you have to help yourself face whatever it is that you need to face and i'm sitting there and i'm like trembling and i had just spent what felt like because you know that time doesn't exist when you're in the medicine what felt like 20 hours there.
42:53Danny Morel:And now she's back. And I remember I grabbed the cup and I'm like, I'm going to throw up. Sure enough, I go.
43:03Danny Morel:And it all just comes out, man. All of that fear comes out. And so, yeah, that's, if I've done anything good in my life is that I've had the courage to face all of the things that I was like deeply afraid to face because I have been a witness to if you just keep doing that and yeah man you need good people around you people that you trust people
43:32Darin Olien:that love you right that can hold you know what they're doing yeah but if you if you can do that
43:39Danny Morel:then the feeling of eliminating all fear doubt worry guilt shame anything that is holding you back it's so liberating it's the mission that i'm on um yeah i feel that one um
43:56Darin Olien:so just for people and probably myself too yeah uh not all people may have access to ayahuasca no or any other said menu right um or the right we could go off on all of the do's and don'ts.
44:17Danny Morel:Before we go any further, let me just say, do not go out and do this with anyone. I'm here speaking to you knowing that if you do this with me and my team, we got you, you are good. But I can't say that for anyone else. And over the years, I've tried that, and every single time I've been let down,
44:42Darin Olien:You personally?
44:43Danny Morel:No, no, no. I've tried connecting with places in Costa Rica, and I'm done with all of it. I'm actually in the process of buying my own land.
44:52Darin Olien:Oh, wow.
44:52Danny Morel:Yeah, because I want to know that my heart, no ego, I want to know that the essence of what people are going to is truth. Right. And it's the only way that I can do that. So, yeah.
45:09Darin Olien:Yeah. So thank you for saying that too. Because it can be dangerous. It can be pretty incredible. There's a lot of stories. There's a lot of.
45:21Danny Morel:And it could be beautiful.
45:23Darin Olien:And it could, yes.
45:27Darin Olien:For sure. Because, you know, I do have beauty in other situations. So that aside, but you also lay out ways that if people don't have access to ayahuasca as a really good facilitator, that again, going back to your core message and mission is going inside. That's right. Right. So as people are listening to this and going, and they're probably picking up on their limitations, listening to this right now.
46:04Danny Morel:Absolutely.
46:05Darin Olien:Right. Feeling their heart, feeling their disconnection from their truth, feeling where's my abundance? What am I doing? Yes. I'm in a situation. Yes. Why am I doing this job? I'm starting to ask some questions. They're asking them right now. We're talking. The energy's going. I can feel it. Yeah. So people are starting to go, oh, shit. Right. Right? Even listening.
46:25Danny Morel:There's something here.
46:26Darin Olien:Yeah. And then they don't have access to the best situation.
46:34Danny Morel:Well, now they do.
46:35Darin Olien:But now they do. But that said, we have everything inside.
46:41Danny Morel:That's right.
46:42Darin Olien:So if people are starting to feel that right now and starting to feel a bubble up of uncomfortable or elation or whatever the feelings are.
46:52Danny Morel:Or curiosity. Or curiosity.
46:54Darin Olien:What are some things that they can start to self-facilitate for themselves?
47:00Danny Morel:Okay. So I'm going to lay it out for you from like, you know, quote unquote, easiest to artist. Yeah. Number one.
47:13Darin Olien:I love how clear you are. And I just want to say that because clarity is because of the work.
47:20Danny Morel:Thank you.
47:21Darin Olien:Right? This isn't prescripted, right? Because when I was reading your thing, because I don't know. I didn't meet you. I'm reading your book. I don't know. I have a radar for shenanigans, right? I've been around. I've done a lot of stuff. But there's something different about you, And there's something different about how you approach it and then just in this interaction, the clarity that you have. So there's something coming through that I feel is very authentic and true. And having done the work, it shows up. Thank you. So I just wanted to acknowledge that.
48:01Danny Morel:It's actually like a conundrum. And I'm going to tell you why. And I'm going to get back to this in a second. But I think it's really important for people to know, like, not a word comes out of my mouth that I have learned in a book. I say it's a conundrum because it's like, you know, I didn't read Deepak. Like, I didn't, I didn't, not that there's anything, but like, I didn't do Wayne Dyer. I didn't, I did, I did God. Right.
48:31Darin Olien:You did what the shaman told me way back when. That's it. You asked.
48:36Danny Morel:I did.
48:37Darin Olien:Yeah, yeah.
48:37Danny Morel:That's all I've ever done. And through all of my experience, I share, right? And I say it's a conundrum because when people ask me, I say, the answer is not in a book.
48:51Darin Olien:Right. And I have a book. And I have a book.
48:54Danny Morel:Right? But I think that the beauty of the book is that the book is intended to take you inward.
49:05Darin Olien:Yeah.
49:06Danny Morel:And when you read it, like you have experience, it really does, call it the energy or whatever it is, it takes you on a journey.
49:17Darin Olien:Yeah.
49:17Danny Morel:And you're going to awaken your heart. It's going to happen, right? So, okay, step number one. I just arrived from Kauai. You can imagine. I'm walking around barefoot. There's mountains.
49:31Darin Olien:There's trees. There's heaven.
49:35Danny Morel:Yeah, heaven. I fly into LA and what do I see? Cement. Yeah. So now think about that for a second. You know, I would say step number one, especially for those of us like here in America, like one of the reasons that we're always fighting with each other is because we've never gone back and honored the Indians. We don't discuss what we did to the Lakota. We just rush it aside, and I think that's very dishonorable. So I would say, number one, connect with the land. It's the number one thing that a human being can do.
50:15Darin Olien:Wherever you're at.
50:16Danny Morel:Wherever you're at, take your shoes off. Go plant them in the ground. Go close your eyes. Take your feet on the ground. Take your hands on a tree and just feel. And if you actually do that, you're going to feel the trees giving to you and the ground giving to you because the planet is the mother. It's the ultimate mother. Step number two, when you're on that land, release. We have so many different chakras throughout our bodies. so half of what's happening with us brother we're carrying on to so much shit yeah i'm talking shit that like from when we were babies shit from past lifetimes and shit from our parents and it's a lot yeah we just need to reconnect here and you can do that so step number one is the land imagine you have chakras in your feet open them and say god i tell god i release all of this take it all and the mother will take it all okay so that's step number one step number two there's meditation now i will say something about meditation um i'm the kind of guy that i want i want access yeah right you mean to tell me i can hear from god you mean to tell me i could hear from my ancestors you mean to tell me my mother can visit me you mean it you mean to tell me what yes yes can you do it through meditation absolutely But here's what no one has ever told you about meditation.
52:12Danny Morel:Yes, you can access the divine through meditation. And yes, you can heal through meditation. But we are so messed up right now. And we are so disconnected from our essence. And we're in such a program of seeking the answer out here that when we actually sit to meditate, what do we do? Yeah. we can't be with ourselves. So yes, meditation worked 50 years ago. Today, I think you need something a little bit deeper than meditation because if we're honest with ourselves, if you're sitting there, your mind is hopping around everywhere. You can't sit still. You're falling asleep. And that's where I started to see people need something deeper than meditation.
53:04Danny Morel:step number three because at least i did step number three here we go breath work yeah big time god has given us the ability to heal ourselves to have divine spiritual experiences to connect with god to connect with our essence and our truth through the very thing that gives us our life because if you disconnect from religion and the programming of all of it, what is God actually? It's the breath. It's oxygen. It's not a man. It's no one that's coming. It's no one that needs your prayers even or your worship. You're doing this. Yeah? That is the program that has kept you in a constant state of avoiding here.
54:03Danny Morel:Here is where God is.
54:05Darin Olien:The kingdom is within.
54:06Danny Morel:It's within. It is right here, brother, all of you. That's why she did that to me. Because you are the center of the universe. So breathwork allows you to use your breath in a way that takes you on a journey that if you do it correctly, will change and heal your life forever. That's how I made Awaken. When I did ayahuasca and then mushrooms and all the crazy things that I've done, I remember thinking to myself, oh, my God, like the world needs this. Like if I'm this jacked up and I used to literally envision like flying around in a helicopter, telling everybody, open your mouth and just pouring in.
54:49Darin Olien:That's the first impulse.
54:51Danny Morel:You want everybody to do it. Right. So then I thought to myself, how can I create an experience that causes people this type of transformation without it? Because I do understand that it's scary for a lot of people. And the beautiful thing about the book is I give you access to my breathwork. So you could just do it at your house. You could do it whenever you want.
55:13Darin Olien:And by the way, the breathwork, just the caveat is...
55:17Danny Morel:Powerful. Powerful.
55:20Darin Olien:And I'll tell you one thing. In 1998, 1999, when I did the first journey, which was perfect because it was clear. I had never done a drug in my life. Never smoked anything. But I heard it, and I heard her clearly. And then I shut off everyone else's point of view about it. And I showed up, and I did this ceremony. As soon as she started coming in, she literally spoke to me.
55:46Danny Morel:And what did you hear?
55:47Darin Olien:She said, thanks for coming. You don't need to do this because it's right here. That's right. It's just right here. She didn't give me breath work or any of that stuff. But it is forever anchored in me that we can access it. And since then doing holotropic, I mean, I did my first holotropic in Golden Bridge Yoga Center in deep LA, and we did a holotropic breathing session, first time. And I started laughing my ass off. It was just like, beep, and I was there. So it takes a little effort, of course. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it is breath is the king.
56:38Danny Morel:Absolutely. when I was creating the book you know the intention of the book is to heal human hearts so as I was doing it you know I was like you know they have to have a spiritual experience and the book what the book does is the book makes you go inward right it makes you start to look at all of the places you've been avoiding and then when you want to do something about it, I give you access to our breathwork completely free. You just go and you own it. It's like my gift to you. So imagine now, now you're going to have a tool that you can do this every week, every day, every whatever. And it's, it's really, really beautiful.
57:22Danny Morel:So that's breathwork. Okay. So I would say that's all of the self stuff. And here comes the other stuff. then there's cannabis. Think of cannabis as like pinpoint, like a sniper. I'm tired of attracting emotionally unavailable people. Why do I keep doing that? That's no accident, by the way. You're calling in an energetic vibrational match to what you feel inside. I'm tired of always making money and spending it. What's up with that? I'm tired of all this negative thinking. Whatever it is, you go, now don't go to like a dispensary in the ghetto, obviously. Go get some beautiful flower. You sit down in ceremony and you give the medicine your intention.
58:22Danny Morel:Show me why I do this. Show me why this isn't.
58:30lay down, cover your eyes.
58:33Danny Morel:Don't take it off. Right? Go inward, go into the feminine, into the darkness, and you're going to have a beautiful experience. And that is something that I actually recommend people do with self. Maybe start with one.
58:47Darin Olien:Yeah.
58:48Danny Morel:You know.
58:48Darin Olien:Very intentional.
58:49Danny Morel:Very intentional. But it has to be intentional because the medicine will meet you at your intention.
58:54Darin Olien:Right. Yeah. Instead of recreationally.
58:56Danny Morel:That's right. And that's why, you know, people say, but Danny, like, you know, people get hooked on it and stuff. Well, yeah, because the medicine is just mirroring back to you what's going on inside.
59:06Darin Olien:Right.
59:06Danny Morel:Yeah? So, yeah.
59:09Darin Olien:Yeah, it reminded me of a, God dang, bringing up all these old memories. So I met this guy. His name is Dose from Oaxaca, Mexico. And this was 20-some years ago. And he studied with Don Juan Matus. Oh, wow. It was a Toltec shaman. And so it was like one-on-one with him for a long time. And I never even smoked. And he was the first person to intentionally give marijuana. And it was the first shadow work I had ever done. So in a particular movie, I won't say what it was, but he said, those bad characters in that movie own all of it. And then did the ceremony with the thing, and I went in going, and that was the first shadow work.
59:57Darin Olien:And it was exact, because it's funny, I've never heard anyone else say that because it was this very direct uses. Boom, right.
1:00:07Danny Morel:And it's really beautiful because I used to judge cannabis. When I was Mr. Goody Two Shoes, church boy, perfect business, it was all bullshit, right? If you think about it, like I needed all of that because in some capacity, like I judged myself. I didn't really love myself. When you love yourself, you don't need all of that, right? Well, if that's the energy I'm living in with myself, what do you think I'm going to do with the plants? Sure. So I would judge anybody. How could you do that? You're like a drug addict, right? That's the judgment in me. And then one day someone told me about it and I go, And I got to tell you, it's beautiful.
1:00:54Danny Morel:It's a beautiful medicine. It's the feminine. And if you start to think about it this way, anything that society tells you is bad is normally good.
1:01:07Darin Olien:Exactly. It's the world of opposites.
1:01:09Danny Morel:That's right. Anything that religion tells you is bad is normally good. Right. Whether it's astrology or plant medicine or connecting with nature or yoga. Anything that you're told is evil or new age is actually the pathway to the discovery of yourself. And don't believe me. Try it for yourself. Try facing that judgment. Try facing that criticism. challenge the belief because worst case scenario you'll prove it right right it was bad right however that's not what we're actually afraid of what we're actually afraid of is that it could be the very thing that leads us to shattering this paradigm that we've created about what's right and wrong, good and bad.
1:02:11Danny Morel:And what we unknowingly are doing when we live in that energy is we're living in separation. And what our souls are here to do is to move past all of that and to return to oneness.
1:02:24Darin Olien:What do you think I've been using? I hadn't used it in a long time, but I've been using HAPE as a nice little pointed tool. It feels very much like that to me. It's a little like, oh, there's something here. Let me just give it a little pop. And like, it's like a 10 minute little journey. What are your thoughts on? Okay.
1:02:45Danny Morel:I'm so glad you asked me this question. Yeah. The only, number one, when it comes to plant medicine, I only do what's natural.
1:02:53Darin Olien:Yes, of course.
1:02:54Danny Morel:So like, I've never done LSD.
1:02:57Darin Olien:Nor have I.
1:02:58Danny Morel:I've never done, I won't do it. I'm not saying it's wrong. I'm just saying that's my little thing.
1:03:03Darin Olien:Sure. Yeah.
1:03:05Danny Morel:number two i want a journey out of it i want a specific outcome with it right some shit is coming up within me that i i'm able to see myself the way i treat my wife the way i treat my my kids the way you know whatever it is right and and i'm like i'm done living life this way yeah i want out i want to see the root cause i want to go straight to the source i'm dealing with this damn thing I'm gonna cry I'm gonna throw up I'm gonna do whatever I have to do but this is leaving my body that is the only time that I sit with the medicine and hape doesn't do that for me it doesn't do that for me yeah
1:03:52Darin Olien:well it's not strong enough it's not a strong it's just like a little
1:03:57Danny Morel:yeah yeah yeah so I know some people that love it my relationship with the medicine is like i say i only sit with the medicine when i can clearly see something about my life that has to that has to go and i want answers and i go into it so it's
1:04:18Darin Olien:very intentional right yeah so you want to yeah you you don't want to just scratch the surface
1:04:26Danny Morel:i'm not that kind of guy no no no no no no i'm like yeah let's go let's go yeah yeah let's go
1:04:34Darin Olien:hook me up strap me down oh yeah okay give me another yeah so okay so i'm glad wasn't expecting that but i'm glad you brought thatth interesting again how that i have that experience for me then from there mushrooms right which is
1:05:00Danny Morel:they call them the little teachers mushrooms are very much your mind your belief your subconscious beautiful medicine beautiful medicine and then ayahuasca and ayahuasca is the feminine your heart your soul and I actually did it backwards right and and so did i yeah and the medicine showed me why because if you go from that way
1:05:29Darin Olien:that way ayahuasca clears out all the guck the mushrooms clears out like the mind stuff and then the cannabis is pinpoint yeah to whatever's left so because i found that because when i did ayahuasca and then again i backed into thc like opened up some freaking doors like that's Exactly. Holy cow. I wasn't expecting. Because I was like, what's the big deal about THC?
1:05:57Danny Morel:Well, you know, with cannabis, like my wife and I, you know, something will be coming up with us. And my wife is just incredible. And she's like, you know, I need a ceremony. And we have a little room in the house.
1:06:09Darin Olien:Oh, nice. Dedicated.
1:06:11Danny Morel:Yeah. And I go, I got the baby. Go. And she'll go up. She'll lay down. Two hours later, oh, my God. Right. And when we talk about it, that's our life.
1:06:21Darin Olien:That's beautiful.
1:06:22Danny Morel:We're just dedicated to a life of going inward and discovering who we actually are.
1:06:30Darin Olien:It's just a breath of fresh air, brother. It really is, because this world has got a lot of traps. Yeah. And it's so distracting for its reasons. Yeah. But when you start to understand the game of the mirrors and the opportunity of God discovering him or herself through us, that's the wild journey.
1:07:00Danny Morel:Yeah. My offer to everyone, my offer to you, this is not the last time we're going to do this. I'm here for you because I feel a very beautiful heart in there. Very beautiful. And if you haven't heard it, you're a very beautiful man. You need to know that. Thank you. And my offer to everyone is that whatever you see in the world is what you feel inside. And so, yes, the world is that way, and this is heaven on earth. when we feel like we are in heaven in here. And all I can tell you is that the result of this journey of awakening your highest self is if you are the type of person that wants to see beauty in the world, if you want to eliminate racism, if you want to eliminate economic class, if you want to eliminate pain and war, if you want to eliminate division, which is what that is, if you have come to a place in your life where you go, okay, I've been doing this for too long and none of this makes sense and none of this feels good and I want the truth, that's what the book is about.
1:08:32Danny Morel:The book is about going inward. and I literally promise you, you take it deep enough. Racism will no longer exist. Politics will not bother you. You will be able to create a life where you earn what you want to earn and it doesn't feel like you're working. You will feel more connected with your partner than you ever have before. And you will literally, when the entire planet is seeing what's wrong with the world, you'll be like, this is great. Because it's just a reflection of what's in here. As above, so below. Yeah, as without, so within. Yeah, beautiful.
1:09:20Darin Olien:I mean, there is a thing that because of this stuff that comes up, the only, I named my first book Super Life. and uh super life is all i care about i want life because and i've been a aggregate for some incredible things physical things clean energy stuff that will blow your mind beautiful right yeah from community i'm working on i don't know if i can squeeze it out but i might be able to but i'm working on a new docuseries uh called the Roadmap to Happiness. And we've filmed all over the world. I think we're safe because we're sneaking out a bit of it at Sundance this month. So it depends on when this comes out.
1:10:12Darin Olien:I've never been able to publicly talk about it yet. But the core of everything I do is to build a super life. Individually, collectively, heaven on earth. Very pragmatic things, because obviously it all comes from within, but this whole thing, the people I've seen, the people I've gotten in touch with, I literally see it every day. And then they fuel me back.
1:10:45Danny Morel:That's right.
1:10:46Darin Olien:When they have answers from some of the world's biggest problems. Today, I know there's solutions physically, mentally, emotionally. I know they exist. It's available. Right? It's available. Yeah. and that's everything that moves me beautiful you know beautiful um not the last time no
1:11:10Danny Morel:no we'll we'll be here in la i think in october okay so i'll get you the dates and get ready get ready for and if before then if you want to come we'll be in florida new york you know whatever Cool.
1:11:25Darin Olien:We'll be moving around. So I look forward to it. And thank you for putting out the book.
1:11:32Danny Morel:Thank you for having me. And can I give them the site? It's awakenbook.com.
1:11:39Darin Olien:Who doesn't want awakenbook.com? I mean, come on. Who doesn't want an awaken book? You're the best. Thank you. Thank you, my man. Thank you. Thank you for having me.
From the publisher
In this powerful and deeply personal conversation, Darin sits down with transformational coach and author Danny Morel, a man who walked away from a billion-dollar real estate empire in pursuit of truth. What begins as a conversation about spirituality quickly turns into a raw exploration of trauma, identity, plant medicine, and the courage it takes to truly face yourself.
Danny shares how the death of his mother shattered the illusion of external success and forced him into a radical journey inward, one that ultimately reshaped his entire life. Together, Darin and Danny explore the nature of the ego, the healing of parental wounds, the role of plant medicine, and why the answers we seek are not out in the world, but within us.

Key Takeaway
Everything we see in the world is a mirror of what's happening inside of us. When we finally stop chasing validation, success, and approval outside of ourselves, and we turn inward to face the pain, the fear, and the truth we've been avoiding, that's when life begins to change. The more we heal our relationship with ourselves, the more the world around us transforms, because awakening isn't about fixing the world out there… it's about finally discovering who we really are in here.
