In short

Leon Aryah Lewis discusses “shadow self” healing, mysticism, and trusting inner guidance. He frames life as a soul plan unfolding through process, not shortcuts, and argues that embracing the shadow accelerates emotional/spiritual healing.

Guest backgrounds

Leon is a mystic/seer and author of Inside Out: A Soul’s Journey. He claims lifelong spiritual communications with guides (including a fiancée from a past life), and he overcame severe dyslexia by learning to accommodate it. He performs “soul readings” using a person’s birth name as a “portal,” describing himself as a conduit rather than the source.

Key claims

Divine timing governs when information is received (his 30-year-old manuscript only became publishable later). Mysticism is direct connection to the divine “without a middleman.” Shadow behaviors (e.g., addiction, hateful speech, self-harm) are the soul’s best teachers and cannot be escaped. People already have the information inside; they can connect to their own guides.

Notable examples

A Germany train-station experience where he hears “Kate,” his past-life fiancée, who says she died in an airline air-raid bomb and has guided him since birth. A meditation about Jesus involving a 15-year-old boy; Leon says Christian scholarship (including The Secret Gospel of Mark) supports the scenario. He tells cases where readings lead to major life changes (e.g., a client later marrying a woman; a waitress becoming a world-recognized masseuse).

0:31Darin Olien:I'd like to take a quick break from this episode to thank our sponsor, Fatty15. That's right. I want to talk about something that isn't talked about enough, keeping our cells healthy. Here's what I'm doing now to prioritize cellular health, supplementing with this new exciting research, and it's called Fatty15. Fatty 15 has three times more cellular benefit than omega-3s or fish oil. This is dietary odd chain saturated fatty acids, OCFAs. There are present trace levels in dietary fat, some fish, and plants. Higher circulating concentrations of this OCFS. we realize through the research that higher circulating concentrations of this is extremely good for us.

1:28Darin Olien:It is called pentadonic chaotic acid or C15. Omega-3 fish oils and algae oils often go bad before they're even in the bottle. That's right. They're susceptible to oxygen and sunlight and the supplements can't even help to improve our health usually. But fatty 15 or C15 naturally protects against damaging oxidation both in the bottle and in your body. If you want to get a little more science-y about it, studies show that C15 works by strengthening our cells, improving our mitochondria function, and protecting us against damage from free radicals on a very deep level. The result, better long-term metabolic liver and heart health functioning.

2:18Darin Olien:It ends up many of us are massively deficient in C15, which results in weaker and weaker cells that makes us have less energy. And we quit working earlier. We're seeking to find that energy. Where is it? All of this makes us age faster and faster. and the science around this is so fascinating. We sleep poorly, we feel sluggish, and we're all looking to feel better and have more energy. Does it sound familiar? Fatty 15 is science-backed, award-winning, vegan-friendly, and pure C15 supplement. That's it. By replenishing ourselves with this newly discovered C15, the nutrient of fatty 15 effectively repairs our cells and restores our long-term health.

3:15Darin Olien:That's when you have to celebrate science. When science discovered something sitting there all along, after 90 years of discovering essential fatty acids like omega-3, 6, and 9, we now have discovered this incredible odd chain saturated fat c15 fatty 15 is on a mission to replenish your c15 levels and restore your long-term health and i'm with them in that you can get an additional 15 off your 90 day subscription starter kit by going to fatty 15 f-a-t-t-y-1-5.com slash Darren, D-A-R-I-N, or use the code Darren, D-A-R-I-N, at checkout. 4:13Darin Olien:Welcome back to the Super Life Podcast. Today, I'm sitting down with a dear friend of over two decades, Leon Aria Lewis, for a deep, profound, personal conversation. Leon is a gifted seer, mystic, and the author of the new book, Inside Out, A Soul's Journey, a manuscript he originally wrote 30 years ago that miraculously survived the devastating Palisades fire when almost everything else in his life was lost. In this episode, Leon opens up publicly for the first time about his lifelong spiritual path, sharing how he overcame severe dyslexia by learning to trust the loving voices of his spirit guides.

4:59Darin Olien:This may sound strange or different for most of you, but let me tell you, I have known Leon for a long time, and this is deeply grounded information that will be fascinating for you. We dive into his incredible gift for performing soul readings, exploring the true essence of mysticism, which empowers every single one of us to connect directly with the divine without any middleman, and the importance of embracing our shadow selves to facilitate the true healing. Leon also recounts some of the most mind-bending spiritual encounters, including profound communications with past life guides and a deeply moving, historically validated meditation involving the life of Jesus.

5:53Darin Olien:This is an incredibly comforting and eye-opening exploration into getting out of your own way, trusting yourself internally, the divine, the plan of your journey itself, and realizing that all the wisdom you will ever seek is literally already inside of you right here, right now. So, let's dive in. Leon, welcome to the show, Super Life. Thank you, Darren. I appreciate you having me here. Oh, man. So we've known each other for a couple of decades. At least. Yeah, at least. And it was the old Malibu gym. Old Malibu gym. Yeah, working out. Yeah, so, you know, this is kind of what feels to me as a special time, a special moment for you because of many factors coming together.

6:58Darin Olien:You lost virtually everything in the Palisades fire. One of the beautiful things is this, which you'll get into, this manuscript that you had written 30 years ago of this part of your who you are and it was saved and subsequent to that you've now actually revisited it and put it into a workable book um so it's like it's beautiful for me to to hear this side of you that i really I've known about but I haven't known known origin story or how this occurred and also as another fire survivor there is beauty that can come out of these very intense moments so thanks for thanks for coming on here and talking about it so I guess the first thing is what does it feel like to see this real and have this thing that was just you know created but then sitting there for 30 years and now now could you say it's time for it yeah so it's really an incredible story down because um I wrote this book 30 years ago and it was really about my life experience and my spiritual growth.

8:34And then I left my home in Malibu and I traveled four or five different locations. Unbeknownst to me, the book came with me. I hadn't seen it in years. And I went on vacation to Mexico and I meditated before I went and I was told, take the book with you. I didn't know what book they were talking about initially.

8:59Darin Olien:because it was so long ago so long ago they said take the book so I looked for it and I found the original manuscript which I had written 30 years ago and which survived all the moves and survived the Palisades fire and then I read it and I said this is really pretty good stuff how come I haven't read it in 30 years and they said the timing wasn't right now the time is right to put the book out there and then i met this wonderful publisher and um she liked liked the book and wanted to publish it and uh here it is yeah shout out to samantha and landon publishing and all the people over there they're doing an incredible job and stewarding that that from you so what was i mean before we get into the guts of the book like what What was it like, and you can go into anything that you want, but what was it like to pick up this almost archive of this very powerful side of yourself written down 30 years ago?

10:11Darin Olien:That must have been trippy. Mind-blowing. You know, when I started to read it, and I remembered sitting in my house in Malibu, upstairs to my computer, typing this stuff out, the experiences I had going through my spiritual journey, the revelations I had received during that journey. You know, I've done soul readings for people for many years. And as part of the soul readings, I recognized for myself that I had been disconnected to my own early childhood. Didn't remember a thing. So I was determined to find out what happened, what traumatic event happened, which caused me to lose total connection with that early childhood, early teenage period of time.

11:04And so I began to uncover what happened. I began to write it down. Each meditation was more deeper than the prior one. And as part of that, you know, we all have spiritual guides, I believe. my spiritual guides started giving me information about what to look for during my process.

11:28Darin Olien:So this was the process 30 years ago. Correct. Yeah. So the first, and then I was talking to a spiritual guide, which is an interesting story how it came to be. Yeah. Yeah, that's it. I was traveling to Europe to meet my friend in Vienna. and I had a layover in Germany. So I got out of the plane and I walked through the airport and I was directed to walk across the airport to this highway, to a train station, to lie down next to this train station. So when you say directed, like describe that a little bit. Internal. Yeah. But very clear, not subtle. Just very... Very directed. Yeah. So I followed the directions that walked across.

12:19Darin Olien:And you guys were like, huh? Was this like a new voice or was this like a voice that you knew? It was a voice I knew. It was just louder. Paying attention. Yeah. So I lied down next to this train station across the highway. It was a little underground. And this movie went through my head about this. So you lied down and a movie started playing in your head? about this pilot who was at this quote-unquote train station to meet his fiancée. She never showed up. And I came back from the trip, and I noticed this real pain in my back, so I asked my friend to work on it. She was an acupressurist. As soon as she started working on it, I went back to that experience of this pilot at this train station waiting for his fiancée.

13:14And then I heard her voice.

13:18Darin Olien:The fiancée. The fiancée's voice. Yeah, I heard her voice, and I talked back to her. I was like, hello. Loud or internal? In my head. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, and she introduced herself. But it was a full, clear communication. Totally. Her name was Kate. She was the fiancée. She was killed in an airline air raid bomb. in england and she loved the pilot and she let me know that she was not coming back this incarnation but she's been my guide since i've been birth really she's been your guide yeah so like the event was from her past yeah i mean to let me know that she's here and available to me that she's taken care of me ever since I was a little boy.

14:12And so she was my first spiritual guide. Wow. And it was that, what do you think,

14:20Darin Olien:the call to that area was this, what seems to be almost a traumatic event for her because she died and she was not able to meet her fiancé, but was that a connecting point for you and her to make that connection then? I, you know, I'd always looked for a special person in my life. Our relationship ended very abruptly because she was killed. But in my heart, my soul, I felt that there was a special person out there for me. And so whenever I meet a woman, I look in their eyes and see whether there's any connection there. And then when she told me she's not coming back this time, it sort of freed me in a sense to be more open to other relationships and at the same time i knew she was there to help me and she told me there were other guides so for example when i was five years old i got my first communication from my grandmother and the communication was these people i.e my parents cannot take care of you which is pretty shocking for a five-year-old to hear what the hell do you do at five years old with that you know it resonated with me that these people did not understand who I was it almost affirmed that which you were already experiencing is like on this is not I don't feel safe I don't know where I am who these people are what am I doing here and then I never felt really comfortable in the physical world I'd always wanted to leave and go back to what I considered to be the spiritual world.

15:59So at the age of seven, I got another communication from my great-grandmother telling me that you're in the physical body and you have to stay here. You can't leave and you have to figure this out. Again, it's pretty shocking for a seven-year-old to hear that. This is your deal.

16:19Darin Olien:This is the setup. This is part of the journey. This is my fate here. Not my destiny, but my fate. and there's a distinction between the two and then when I was 10 they're intertwined they're intertwined but not the same so when I was 10 I had another message that what is fate is fate, what is destiny is destiny you're here to live out your fate and destiny again I'm 10 years old and you begin to wonder whether I'm a little insane hearing these voices were you sharing these with anyone? you just this is all like all internal but it was very clear that this is what going on right this is different than just a random voice in your head saying take a left to your right or or like i mean we can get more into it but what do you think that if you were to try to describe the difference between that voice and just a normal voice in your head you know babbling about making up stories?

17:25Well, I knew A, it was not my voice and B, it was very loving. I felt comforted for the first time really in my life and I felt safe.

17:37Darin Olien:So it was distinctly different voice. Very different. And it felt different. Felt safe. It felt loving. It felt that I could trust whatever the voice was. So, you know, I grew up dyslexic and so school for me was very difficult. And as a result of that, people thought I was slow, stupid, and not worthy of really anybody's time or attention. So when I was 14 years old, having failed all the way through school, basically, I decided that I can do this. I can figure out how to learn for myself. And I did that. I'm still dyslexic but I figured out how to accommodate my dyslexia so I started doing better in school I started getting more active in social activities what did you do like how did you how did you place yeah how did you because dyslexia can show up a lot of different ways for people yeah I'm very very dyslexic so so what is it what occurs for you when you look at words I started reading when I was in fourth grade.

18:50Most people learn to read when they're in kindergarten or first grade. I started reading in fourth grade because I changed letters around. I changed the numbers around. It's hard when you're dyslexic to really get the whole picture. And so I learned not to judge myself. Very important. Non-judgment. I learned to take my time as long as it took me. And my brother, who was one year ahead of me in school, was a trade-A student. so I followed him in school and they expected me to be a straight-A student and I was a zero basically as far as they were concerned right and back then dyslexia wasn't really really talked about much nobody knew about it yeah I'm talking about the 50s late 50s early 60s in a little town in upstate New York all the teachers were essentially rejects tell me they couldn't get a job elsewhere in this little town.

19:47So I figured it out for myself. Now, Kate, when we started having conversations, she told me that they helped me. My spirit guides helped me to understand how to figure out the dyslexia. So I went through high school well, went to college, did well in college, went to law school, did well in law school. I mean, being dyslexic and going to law school is... That's a really bad company. It's amazing. But what I did was I figured that out, you know, for each course I was taking in law school. As soon as I got to the middle of the course, I started over. Because when you're dyslexic, you can't really see the building blocks.

20:34But when I started over, I began to see how it all fit together. so by the time we finished each course once i had already finished it twice but i really understood now how to learn for myself and so you know anybody out there that's dyslexic or have any kind of add you can figure it out if you don't have help you can get help but it's doable. In my book I have a chapter in The Power to Heal. We all have the power to heal ourselves emotionally and psychically. We just have to pay attention.

21:13Darin Olien:Yeah, it's like that whole thing of like the world is not wrong or broken. And this body, self-generating, self-healing and sometimes when we get in the way, we create more challenge, stagnation, whatever. That's a very important statement you made, getting out of your own way. I'd like to take a moment to mention my amazing sponsors, the company Body at Shakeology, my baby, who I helped to formulate way back in 2006. Most people think of a protein shake as a quick fix, but Shakeology, because I know, was built with a completely different intention. It's superfoods. It's nutrient density. It's a superfood nutrition shake where quality actually comes first.

22:09Darin Olien:I know this firsthand. When you talk about the quality story, we're talking about a refusal to take shortcuts. While most of the industry uses generic blends to cut costs, every single ingredient in Shakeology literally is individually researched, vetted, and sourced from global partners all over the world who meet the strictest standards of purity and sustainability. We're talking about seven layers of testing. These are not just words. This is actual. From the raw ingredients to the finished bag to ensure that what's on the label is exactly what's in your glass. There are no artificial sweeteners, no fake flavors, no compromises.

22:53Darin Olien:It's measurable quality that evolves with science. Experience the difference for yourself. I still drink this every single day. Head to Shakeology.com and use the promo code Darren O, D-A-R-I-N-O, one body, B-O-D-I, for 15 % off your order. That's Darren, D-A-R-I-N, the letter O, the number one body, B-O-D-I, to get 15 % off. I can't wait for you to try it. Getting out of your own way. I believe that the soul comes in with a plan. the soul already has your journey laid out for you when I was my kids were both born before they were born I did readings for both of them because I wanted to see whether I could tune into what their soul was before they were born and the readings came out exactly who they are and I've done readings for other children before they were born the readings always came out exactly how they turned out to be and the parents were basically shocked because the soul can communicate that energy to you, that plan.

24:07And so when we enter the physical body, we lose all the information we had.

24:14Darin Olien:At least we're not consciously aware of it. Right. It's in your subconscious. And then the journey is to live out that plan and to get out of your own way. Meander and bump against things. I bumped into a lot. so i i want us to so people can like so you've said a couple times like these soul readings let's unpack that a little bit because you go from there's so much here because you go from virtually getting this very not virtually like clear communication from your first soul guide, right? And other guys taught you how to teach yourself. And then along the way, you also were developing this ability to tap into other souls.

25:10And describe that to me.

25:12Darin Olien:Like, how did that occur? And how did that occur the first time? Well, it's interesting. Being a lawyer in trade, I never really got into any meditation or any spiritual conversations. And when my father passed away, out of respect for him, although I had no relationship with him, by the way, I started to meditate. I'd just sit in my house and be quiet. and before I knew it I was meditating and I say in the book this is the first thing that I could do that was easy for me because being in the physical world for me was and is very difficult but I can meditate and I begin to tune in to myself. Now what was the instigating event that caused you to kind of feel that meditation what was that?

26:07Darin Olien:My father's death. Yeah that's right you're done. So I say in the book he gave me a gift in death that he never gave me in life because he discounted me totally. That was a tough life that he and his father lived, right? It was Eastern European, Jew, a lot of prejudice, hate. So he never learned how to emotionalize anything. So as a parent, he couldn't give me anything he didn't have. And then a friend of mine showed me a tarot card and I saw that I could read this tarot card without knowing anything about the tarot cards and information just came. So you saw this card and you got this information about people who were giving me the card.

26:55So I did tarot card readings for two years and I got an amazing amount of information. And what I did for the soul readings was I didn't want to know anything about the person other than their birth name. That's the portal for me to the soul. And so I did a reading for this one person who was in public relations that was her job she loved the reading and she started telling her friends about it and before I knew it I had like 40 clients doing soul readings I was doing them 6-7 days a week I did thousands of these readings and then one day I was told put away the cards you don't need them anymore just do the readings and so I did and what happened was the information still came through but it was more discernible for the person.

27:49There's not that much information. It was more directed to where they were. And then each person would come back once a month and I could see where they were in terms of their growth through the readings. And they began to break through a lot of these constructs, these ego constructs, much quicker than therapy. because they're dealing with their own information. And it's a real, you know, I came in as a seer. I was a little boy, I came in as a seer, which why the world was so confusing to me, still is by the way. Yeah. But I can see and connect with a person's soul. And so doing thousands of these readings and never once making an error, because it's not me giving the information.

28:42I'm a conduit. My guides or their guides to give the information. Yes.

28:50Darin Olien:In that, is there a... I mean, obviously what comes up for me around that is there's a trust of what's coming through and then just allowing it, right? So is there a technique of sorts that you have to go into or it's just through meditation and connecting with the name? I just connect with the soul of that person. I'll tell you an interesting story. This guy came to me for reading and he was very effeminate, very gay. So I did the reading and I discovered that he really wasn't gay. So when you say trusting the information, I had to really say to myself, am I going to tell this guy who's lived his whole life?

29:38This is coming through you. Yeah, yeah. So I said to him, the information I have for you is that you're really not gay.

29:51Darin Olien:That is like straightforward, blunt. How did he? He said, I know. It's usually the opposite, right? It's usually like, you know, I'm trying to keep it together as a man, but I have tendencies for other men. And you're holding it very rarely the other way. He knew. So I said, you want to share with me? And he said, well, I grew up in a very Mormon family. I hated my father. And so I figured out the worst thing that I could do to hurt him was to become gay. wow so he did it literally out of hate out of hate and in spite of his dad two years later i get a call from him saying i'm getting married to a woman i'd like you to come to the wedding i said okay so you get that kind of information you know i did a reading for this other woman she was i mean that's i mean i i want to because that is like and i want to get into this that we all have the ability to receive right and and um but it's there is something in that also that is bold and courageous and and trusting to say i mean that is a that is a big statement you know what i mean like you don't know somebody you're you're getting this information and then you're you're trusting it so much going hold this is you know what i mean oh yeah that is a that is a big thing to say to someone and trust yourself so much to go like and not judge it and just go whoa and it Landed it landed and because it's not it's not my information.

31:48It's yours If I get it from my guides or your guides I trust that the information is accurate because I've done so many of these readings now

31:57Darin Olien:So trust builds up when you say yes, right? And it's trusted the other person as well, right? Because when I people come to a reading I Tell them upfront. Here's what I'm gonna do I'm gonna give you information and you can reject it if you want. I don't care. It's not my information it's yours. Yeah, do with it what do you want? Accept it or reject it or we'll talk about it. Yeah. I did this reading for this one woman she was a waitress six feet tall a beautiful black woman African American and she was raising six kids by herself. Wow. And she came in for the reading and I said I don't mean to be offensive but I'd like you to massage my back.

32:43Darin Olien:That was the reading. Yeah. And so she did. And I said, now I want you to go to a spot on my back that you feel is very tight. And she did. And I said, that's who you are as a person. You're a healer. You have this technique and ability to tune into someone's physical form and help them heal. I said, I want you to trust that information. and I want you to start offering people massages, which she did. She became a world-recognized masseuse, traveled all over Europe, opened a studio in Santa Monica, because she trusted the information. And I trusted the information I was giving to her. So things like that, I mean...

33:35Darin Olien:They seem so random, but like you said, if someone's coming then they're saying yes on some level so they're open right again they can reject whatever the hell they want and then and then just to trust that information and then i mean that's incredible you know it's actually a beautiful experience because once you know that i know and I'm not judging you all the blockades all the interference all the way and you have two souls talking to each other right and that's a really beautiful experience and that's you know I wanted to share with you know your audience out there is we all have the ability and I wanted to get into a little bit about mysticism of course yeah because mysticism is something people are afraid of because they don't understand it.

34:38And clergymen, rabbis, priests won't talk about it because they're afraid of it. Because once you start to understand mysticism, you begin to understand you can connect yourself with the divine.

34:53Darin Olien:There's no middle man. No middle man. No middle woman. How would you then describe, in your words, how do you describe mysticism? Well, first of all, you know, all of our great spiritual leaders, Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, they all heard these messages. All the prophets, Ezekiel, Isaiah, they heard information, they trusted it, and they wrote about it. And because they were able to tune in to that divine message. and we all can do that interestingly enough you know Pythagoras this great Greek mathematician was an adept mystic wow he went to Egypt to study Egyptian mysticism brought it back to Greece Socrates Plato all mystics Plato wrote in his book the spiritual world is a real world the physical world is a copy and that's the way I feel about this so try to connect the spiritual world and the physical world has been my destiny that's really where I want to go to and so each of us can tune in if we're open to spiritual information that our guides may have for us it's trusting so if you meditate or you pray and you sit there and if you just listen without any judgment and see if you hear anything and it takes time you know yeah i mean you you you had a gift that was undeniably showing up at periods of time and then obviously this event that happened in the train station kind of made it like and i do believe it too it's a muscle as well right and and we all i don't know if anyone on the planet who hasn't received something and then something occurred, right?

36:59Exactly. You know, you meet somebody again. Oh, I know you. You know, I met my ex-wife after a couple of dates. I said, we're going to get married and have two children.

37:09Darin Olien:Really? She said, I don't want to get married. I don't want to have your children. Well, a couple of years later, we got married and have two kids. So I get those senses about, and we all do, you know. You and I have connected a long time ago. I knew who you were. I knew you were a beautiful soul and I wanted to be your friend and so we had deja vu experiences they're just replaying information over to have so what Socrates and Plato said was we already have all the information in our soul we're just reconnecting to it we're just understanding it again and that's what I believe that's why we can tune into each soul and see who they are.

37:56You know, it is the message of all messages.

38:04Darin Olien:And if we truly take in what you just said, like for the audience right now, just take in this for a second. I'm going to illuminate it even more. If we literally sit and realize that our soul has everything, we need yeah that's exactly that's exactly the point you know people who are seekers are looking outside themselves if you look in your soul has all the information you need what do you do with um what do you do with like because this is true and um um let's get this up um this is true of course it's inside and the world is a mirror like it's it's like you said it's that it's that uh i forget the term you use but it's a reflection of of the spirit side and it's and it's broadcasting something and and there's lessons there's opportunities of growth there's all kinds of things so life definitely shows up mirroring things from my experience and reflecting back through people through experiences through and i think you know for me there is not one thing that's wrong or bad it's just the interpretation of it right and if nothing is broken and everything is happening for us, again my belief, then it's us understanding and extracting that lesson, that learning, that reflection.

39:50Darin Olien:So that's what I believe. So when you think of this soul journey and then meandering in life, the wide experiences that you've had in your life, how do you, through that mystic lens, how do you pop because you've had a successful life, like a physical life, and you've had a rich, rich spiritual life? And I think that's the crescendo. That's what we want to seek. And within all of that, we have, and you speak about this, gratitude and what gratitude really is um so as this kind of toggle between this dance of our spiritual soulful immense connection to everything and we're just this physical thing bumping around getting hurt every once in a while having a having a laugh and like you know like this is a massive question but like how do you feel like that that um dance plays out like between trust the soul and then something's happening where it's like oh that's challenging like i guess that's kind of what i'm trying to get at is how do you play between that inner deep world that you have and also this life that we get to live?

41:36Well, first, I think it's important that everybody understands they have a soul. And the soul is really the sum total of all your experiences. It's who you are. Truly who you are. Truly who you are.

41:49Darin Olien:Not the identity of Darren. It's not the ego. It's not your physical body. It's not your mind. Your soul is some substance of who you are. And you come in that way. I've had past life experiences where I lived that past life and it was very clear to me that that's like the pilot when he met you know so once you recognize you have a soul and if you believe that the soul has the information then you have to get out of your own way and you have to let that play out and for me it's all about process your life is process it's dealing with the physical world the shadow learning who you are learning from the experiences that you have there are no shortcuts to enlightenment there are no shortcuts people read these books these self-help books to me it's anathema to growth you have to go through your journey I'll tell you my favorite book other than the Bible is Siddhartha which I recommend to everyone and in Siddhartha it's really the story of the Buddha so Siddhartha meets the Buddha listens to his teachings and then he walks up to the Buddha and he said your teachings are the most amazing thing I've ever heard but I can't stay with you because I have to live out my own journey by myself you can't teach it to me And so he goes off and he experiences his journey.

43:31And that's life. And that's the spiritual journey. Uncovering what your soul has planned for you. And we all get bruised. We all get beaten up. We get up and we keep on moving if we trust. And we have to trust in ourselves, trust in the message, and trust in the process.

What do you think the... because it's so trippy like it's trippy that this is like like a 30 year year treasure that's sitting here like when you read it again and then decided it's time for this to come out what do you think the why if there is a why why that was the way it was and also what do you think about the now as to why now for this book to be and what do you believe the message that is required today that is sitting in this book that wants to be illuminated it that's a good question so when i read the book again 2025 in december sitting in mexico and i said wow this is really pretty good stuff i wish i'd read it years before it would save me a lot of problems right why now yeah and i said you weren't ready you weren't i was not ready to receive the information that I had written down.

46:41Right. I mean, all that information came...

46:45Darin Olien:So you wrote it down, but it's interesting that you just said it that way. You wrote it down, but you just said you weren't ready to receive the information for yourself. Exactly. So you were channeling it, you wrote it down, but you weren't actually ready to receive the information yourself. Correct. Wow. so divine time is different than physical time and in divine time 30 years had to go by for me to grow to where I was at that point in time in order to be able to receive the information even though I had done thousands of readings for other people I was pretty open for myself I was not attuned to the information I had received over the 30 year period and so when I decided now is the time because that's what they told me and I met Samantha wonderful publisher that she is and she liked the book she agreed to publish it everything has now moved very quickly divine time opens up time for this book and you know some experience I've had you know I tell the story about this young boy who spent the last night with Jesus which is I mean astonishing meditation I had it's in the book give us a little cliff note pardon?

48:14Darin Olien:give us a little cliff note yeah so a friend of mine who is an evangelical Christian called me one day and she said I have a message for you she said this to you I said okay why don't you come over and so she came to my meditation room we sat down She said, the message is meditate with Jesus. Now, I grew up as a conservative Jewish boy. Didn't know really much about Jesus except that he lived. And he was a spiritual teacher. Powerful dude. Powerful dude. And so this whole meditation unfolded about this young boy, 15 years old. I saw what he looked like, what he was wearing. Spent the last night with Jesus.

49:02Now, that was pretty shocking. Now, I'm doing this meditation. My friend is crying. I'm crying. I'm sobbing because it was so deep of an experience for me. Even when I think about it now, I've become very emotional about it. Anyway, so the experience was so real, I went to do some research. And I found several books written by these Christian scholars. saying that it's now believed that Jesus spent the last night with this young boy. The last night? The last night. Wow. And they described the young boy, what he was wearing, which was my meditation. There's a book called The Secret Gospel of Mark, which has my meditation in it, by the way.

49:53And he talks about this...

49:55Darin Olien:It just so happens to have the... He said there's an extraneous figure. Nobody knows who it is. spent the last night with Jesus and so as a result of that meditation I began to tune in with Jesus see if I could remember what he gave to the boy what were the teachings and every time I asked that question he said you already know what they are you have to just remember them they're sending this to you yes and that's part of our soul's journey you have to remember the knowledge we already have and so a lot of the messages I put in the book were messages I got as a young boy now I know there's going to be a lot of people who are going to scream and yell about this and I understand that I never really talked about this until the book came out just to say this was my experience I'm not saying anything other than this was my shared experience.

51:02When I came into this lifetime, I came in with a sense of guilt. I didn't know why, what I was guilty about.

51:11Darin Olien:It was just in you and around you? It was in my system. And I finally talked to a good friend of mine who was a spiritual therapist. And I said, I feel this sense of guilt. So we went back into that lifetime of the young boy where Jesus had asked him to communicate his message to others, the boy tried and failed. I felt that sense of guilt that had failed. And again, it was very emotional for me. And so I asked my guides, including Jesus, why do I feel guilty? And he said, you missed the message. The message was you try. if you accepted that message and if you failed that wasn't the issue it was that you made the effort you put yourself out there and that's what we have to do in life we have to put ourselves out there we can't hide away we can't stay locked in our minds locked in our bodies we have to live our spiritual life fully yeah yeah because it's we avoid at all costs, even the uncomfortable, the uncomfortable conversations, the uncomfortable feelings.

52:32Darin Olien:We don't have the conversation, you know, and that creates a level of stuckness and aloneness. Exactly. Disconnection. Exactly. Yeah. Disconnection, not only from other people, but from ourselves. I spent a lot of my life disconnected from who I am because I was told who I was was not worthy, was not good enough. And I had to come to terms with myself, I am good enough. And there's a communication I have with my young boy. Together, we are enough. We are good enough. and it's very empowering when you connect with your own little child to let them know we're safe, we're okay. It's okay to be who we are.

53:27It doesn't matter how anybody judges us. We're okay with ourselves.

53:33Darin Olien:There's a lot of healing that can happen when we revisit these places in us that we don't even sometimes know why they're there. And painful. Yeah. And it's also important to deal with the shadow. What do you mean by that? Well, we all have our dark side, the shadow side. Yeah. And people try to run away from it. The heads and tails. Pardon? The heads and tails. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. The dark and the light. Yeah. And people try to run away from the shadow. But you can't because it's who you are. We all have it. and once you embrace it, you realize it's a tremendous teacher for us. So how would one even approach going, oh, what does that even mean?

54:21Darin Olien:What is my shadow? You know what I mean? Like if you've never approached it or acknowledged it, then you're just like, I'm just me, right? I'm like thinking about my brother right now. Like, you know, I love him tremendously, but he lives his life. if I live mine, and if I were to go up to him and ask him, like, what's your shadow? He'd be like, what are you talking about? You know what I mean? So how do we, because I love these types of conversations, but I also love to see if we can bridge more, which is also why you're writing this book. And like, how do we talk about shadow in a way that people can understand?

55:03Well, so I believe that we all came into this world to be more like the divine. and that's our goal and there are times when we do something which we know is in opposite to that kind of communication make some stupid choices we do something stupid we do something hateful we say bad things to people that's the shadow

55:28Darin Olien:it's coming out and if we look at it and we say okay I know I'm doing this because I want to control somebody or I want to hurt them. That's a shadow. Yeah, because I'm like yelling at your spouse or like what the hell am I doing? I love this person and yet I'm yelling at them. Or you do something which hurts yourself. And you have to learn from that. Addiction. Addiction, good example. Why am I doing this? I know this is not good for me. What can I learn from this experience? and the shadow is your best teacher because it shows you the errors you make and why you make them if you're open to it.

56:13And you can't run away from the shadow because it stays with you because it's who you are.

56:18Darin Olien:Yeah, wherever you go, there you are. There you are. Yeah, and that's, again, I think we run away from all of these things as much as possible and it's easy to point, well, I wouldn't have done that if you would have done what I wanted. Exactly. Right? And that it doesn't solve anything. It just offloads it to this delusion of it's out there that needs to change for me to feel good. Right. And that gets into relationship. A relationship with ourself is primary. You have to really have a relationship with yourself, which is nonjudgmental, for me to have a relationship with you, which is nonjudgmental.

57:03with the divine. We have to come clean with who we are, accept who we are, forgive who we are, love who we are. That way I can love you.

57:15Darin Olien:What do you think, you know, if someone wants to be in touch with their soul, because we all, I believe to, for sure. We have a soul and I communicate with my spirit guides the way i do and it popped in and out and a lot of now i've got my mom and dad they're floating around mom most recently uh was a new council member in my uh in your spirit group in my spirit group um and it is there's something powerful just in acknowledging that even if your mind can't fully understand it there's something even now even acknowledging it now and acknowledging out loud right i do it internally all the time but just doing it literally right now there's a calm that shifts in my body because it's something that i'm tapping into that's way beyond this and is actually quite comforting comforting yeah because we are you know if i cut off my thumb my thumb my arm i think like well who's darren right it's like because i am i am way beyond my name my identity here and so just acknowledging that and again beyond religion we don't even have to get in people can still have whatever religions you want, but I think acknowledging that we are this infinite being.

58:53Yeah, and so getting back to mysticism, that's the essence of connecting with the spiritual world and bringing the spiritual world here. You know, the Our Father prayer, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done. It's bringing God's world here. And whatever God means to you.

59:13Darin Olien:As earth as it is in heaven. Yeah. and so because the spiritual world really teaches us how to live better in the physical world if we tune into our spiritual guides and we all can do this by the way and the reason why the clerics don't teach it a they're afraid of it b they lose control over who you are mysticism has nothing to do with religion you can be a jew you can be a christian you can be a Sufi. All mysticism. It goes beyond religion. Be whirling dervish. Exactly. Jesus, when he came in, railed against religion. Right. Because it was teaching... He's not religion. Pardon? He's not religion.

59:58Darin Olien:Right. It had nothing to do with religion. It was teaching the people that these people are not honest with you. They're greedy. They're taking your money. Den of thieves. Den of thieves. Den of... And so mysticism is you tuning into your own guides and connecting, and you have to be patient. You have to open up to it. First you have to recognize, I'm a soul. I come from the divine place, and I want to reconnect with that place. And you're right, it's very loving, very comforting. So when I was five years old, I got a message from my great-grandmother. It's the first time I really felt loved. Wow.

1:00:36and trusted, you know, and cared about. And I've been fortunate in the sense I've had those messages throughout, but I was open enough to accept them. I didn't think I was crazy. I didn't tell anybody because no one was going to listen anyway. But I could sense as a little boy what you were feeling. It became very confusing for me, so I had to shut it down. in order for me to survive in the physical world but i was fortunate opened back up to it yeah yeah and i think and that's where

1:01:16Darin Olien:i think the one of the messages here in this book is like we all have it and it's a language that we get to explore between our soul family and and us here and and who we really are um Yeah, what is now, 30 years later, what is your mission? Or what is the message that you think this book probably has many, of course? But what are some of the messages that you want to have occur in the world? So that's a big question. but the answer is I want everybody to understand who they are that we have a soul that the soul is really divinely connected and if we reconnect with the divine experience openly, trustingly we begin to live life differently then you and I as two souls can talk to each other doesn't matter what religion we are doesn't matter who makes more money than the other it's you and I having a conversation soul to soul and that's possible and that's the concept of mysticism I'm going to connect up with the divine, my guides and you can do that with yours and then we can talk to each other on that level I had an experience where my yoga teacher was dying I went to see him in the hospital and he and I were soul brothers he was gay but we were soul brothers, it didn't really matter and so I was sitting next to him and he was thrashing on the bed and all of a sudden he sat up straight and we looked at each other like I'm looking at you now and I saw his soul lift out of his body and in that sense he communicated to me about physical death and psychic death.

1:03:29I wrote it down. But it was, you know, it's not an apparition. I actually saw his soul leave his body, and he communicated to me about death. And so that was an experience I had. You don't talk about these things with many people because they want to put you away somewhere. But we have those connections. You have a connection with your mother. may she rest in peace and your father and one of my strongest guides is my brother my brother died at 50 we did not have a great relationship growing up in fact on a couple of occasions he tried to kill me he fed me Drano when I was three years old told me it was vanilla ice cream and I did because I trusted him last time I trusted him but he's become a very powerful guide for me now and I listen to him because I trust him he has wisdom up there I need to hear so it's connecting with who we are people go to seances people go to psychics because they believe that someone's got information for them but you have to understand you have the information you can connect it with your own guides and your own soul you don't have to go to a psychic or a seance trust yourself

1:05:04Darin Olien:that is the one of the greatest journeys and life is process you have to believe that your soul has the information that you're living out but you can't short circuit the process you know we all go through our bumps and bruises and ups and downs that's life yeah is there um now that we say that it's funny that i'm gonna ask this but is there any um you know we've known each i don't know if we've done a full you may have done a reading on me years and years ago yeah it was a long time long time ago and you've grown up exactly as i thought you would is there anything now that you tune into with me any message do you have a middle name Leslie Leslie Darren Leslie Olin

1:06:12wow so where you are now

1:06:21is nowhere near where you're going to be. Understanding your own power, and I mean this sincerely because I've known you a long time, I love you, I trust you, and I have a great deal of respect for you, person to person. But you're a very powerful being, and from where we first met, in the Malibu gym to where you are now you've done an amazing job but you're only part of the way there you have the ability

1:07:00we talk about connection to the spiritual world

1:07:10and your ability to do that is way beyond where you are now. So I really like you to tune into yourself. We talked about guides and your mother or your father, whoever it is. Let them tell you where you're going to go. Let them lead the way for you because you reach a certain level in time where you think I've done it. I'm where I'm supposed to be. For you, that's not the case.

1:07:46you're a powerful guy we've known that not just physically but emotionally and spiritually very strong I did a reading for a friend of mine the other day and her little boy is three years old and I said to her you know you're a mystic but your little boy is much more powerful than you are he's a much stronger mystic and she said I know that he's already telling me what to do so if we tune into each other and experience just who we are person to person, soul to soul you eliminate a lot of hate bias bigotry and dysfunction we're here to communicate with each other

1:08:38well you're by the way I really appreciate you having me on it's been a beautiful experience A. knowing you and B. doing this time with you here being able to communicate about the book and I call the book Inside Out A Soul's Journey because the experience really is from the inside out you can't take in the information and believe it to be your wisdom. If someone tells you, I can tell you how your journey is going to be, they wouldn't know because it's just your journey. When I do readings for people, it's to let them know who they are so they can experience their own journey without judgment.

1:09:29I'm not telling you what to do. Psychics will tell you whether you're going to get married or not, whether you're going to buy a car or not. That's taking away your journey. You know, it's uncovering who you are so you can live out your journey.

1:09:44Darin Olien:And so you can trust yourself on that level. You have to trust yourself. And that's hard. Yeah, it can be. And it can be, and it also can be really easy. If you learn to trust yourself. If you learn to do it, then it becomes more, the muscle becomes easier to trust. As you've demonstrated. It's a muscle. We don't use it very much. Because we tend to trust other people. You know, if you go to a priest or a rabbi, you think they know more than you do. They don't. They may have more study than you, but spiritually they're not any more aware than you are if you trust that. I'm not saying give up religion.

1:10:28Religion can be a good thing from, you know, holidays and gifts and presents like that.

1:10:37Darin Olien:you know yeah like create some ceremonial structure ceremony is wonderful you know ritual is wonderful yeah there's a lot of great things to it obviously and it also can take you off your own you know that's that's the point like don't it's like going to a doctor don't give your power away listen and like okay do your own research do your own research so when i had the meditation with young boy and Jesus, I didn't believe it myself. So I went and did the research. I found the books. I described the books. And then I started studying Kabbalah, mysticism. And the Kabbalist Ephesians were my own belief system.

1:11:23In sync. And I began to trust all of that belief system.

1:11:29Darin Olien:you have to trust yourself yeah well dude you're an amazing human being and i am so honored that we got to do this but also just i'm so grateful for you in my life for this long and helping me in so many different ways supporting me and us getting to just you know support each other and this thing and I'm just proud of you I am honored and I'm just stoked that this gets to come out and also for you just to open up this side of you publicly because that's also part of your journey to like okay it's time so thank you for trusting you and thank you for helping me on my journey too well i i feel the same way about you by the way some years ago i went to see a psychic referred to me by a friend and she said one day you're going to write a book i said okay and the book came out and um and being with you during these past 20 plus years has been wonderful for me as well because we've learned to be more than just, you know, professional relationship.

1:12:54We're dear friends. We trust each other. And my coming out publicly with my life and this part of my life, it makes me feel very vulnerable. But I have to trust it's the right time and the right thing to do. So I appreciate you having me on. Yeah, thank you.

1:13:15Darin Olien:And thanks for sharing it to the Super Life family, because this is the the inner world is one of the most important that that all people get to discover about themselves and and share it and share it yeah and trust it and trust it yeah thanks buddy

In this deeply personal conversation, Darin sits down with his longtime friend Leon Aryah Lewis—a mystic, seer, attorney, and author of Inside Out: A Soul's Journey. For the first time publicly, Leon shares the remarkable spiritual experiences that shaped his life, from communicating with spirit guides as a child and overcoming severe dyslexia to performing thousands of soul readings and embracing the path of mysticism.

Leon also reveals the extraordinary story of how a manuscript he wrote 30 years ago miraculously survived the Palisades Fire, only to resurface at exactly the right moment. Together, Darin and Leon explore soul purpose, shadow work, intuition, divine timing, reincarnation, the teachings of Jesus, and why true healing begins when we trust ourselves instead of searching outside for answers.
