In short

The episode argues that enemas are an ancient, targeted way to hydrate and cleanse the lower GI tract, potentially supporting microbiome balance, constipation relief, and “parasite” elimination, while warning against misuse and advising practitioner support.

Guest backgrounds

No guest is interviewed. Darren O’Lean discusses mentor Josh Mancine (“Detox Dudes”).

Key claims

Enemas date to ancient Egypt (royal specialist “shepherds of the king’s rectum,” ~1500 BCE), Ayurveda (dosha-based protocols), and Mayan temple rituals. He claims systemic absorption of water/electrolytes can bypass oral limits (“Murphy’s drip”) and that FDA-approved single-dose enemas can “reboot” the microbiome. He distinguishes enemas from colonics and says coffee enemas may support liver detox/peristalsis.

Notable examples

Darren recounts a past ayahuasca-related case where an enema enabled a “beneficial trip,” and his own experience seeing “a foot long worm” during parasite protocols. Red flags listed: IBS, abdominal pain, GI bleeding, diverticulitis, prior surgeries, and heart disease.

0:32Darin Olien:Before we dive into today's episode, I want to thank my sponsor, Therasage. Pulsed electromagnetic frequencies done in the right way with the right frequencies are incredibly beneficial for your mitochondria. Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. That's what PEMF is. I've been using it at alternative doctors' offices for a very long time. Well, now you can own a mat that has one of these technologies on it among six other technologies. It's got PEMF, which I use every day. It's got red light, photon technology, gemstone technology, full spectrum, infrared, heat, a TENS unit, EMF remediation, earthing, grounding technology, and negative ions.

1:21Darin Olien:That's right. It's in one pad. You've got it at your fingertips. You can turn this on. You can lay on it. You can meditate on it like I do every day, and this technology is a natural way for healing process to be created, to help reduce pain, reduce inflammation, to improve your overall immune function. TheraPro is safe, low EMF, and no weird flicker of the lights. It's in many sizes, small size as well as a big size, and I lay on this thing, my full body. It's fantastic. It's got a great travel case with a long power cord, super convenient. You can go to therisage.com and get 15 % off your order.

2:03Darin Olien:Just type in Darren, D-A-R-I-N, and magically, you get 15 % off. I'm super stoked for Therisage. I love their company. I love what they're doing, and you will too. Hey, everybody. Welcome to the show. This is Darren O 'Lean, and we are on the Super Life Podcast together today. day from the Egyptian courts to the Maya temples to today's even some biohacker cleanser kits enemas have always been about strategic access to the body that's right hydration cleansing targeted medicine herbs you name it let's separate the myth from misuse and keep the deep wisdom intact. Today we're going to talk about your butt, your anus, and enemas.

2:57That's right. So this is something I've done enemas on and off for 20 years and I recently got fired up to do them again because I was doing some cleansing, some parasite cleansing, some real parasite cleansing. We're not talking just a flippant detox. We're talking about full-on creating environments for parasites to leave the body, all of us. This isn't about parasites. I've talked about parasites, but I'm just giving you the context as to why I've brought enemas back into my life because they're very powerful in changing that lower environment to be a catalyst for many things, hydration, herbal remedies, and an environment where parasites who are very intelligent and wise and know how to live, you can create an environment where they leave the body.

3:56But this is deep. Enemas have been around for a very long time ancient egypt the pharaohs this is 1500 years before christ it was a royal specialist were called literally shepherds of the king's rectum that's right you can look this up i'm not even joking enemas appeared in some of the ancient medical journals really and showed up in temples and were part of a routine of care of the GI tract. And even in the Ayurveda, which you can argue 20 ,000 years old, they used for herbal decoctions, for cleansing, oil, nourishing, and they have a lot of protocols to support the elimination based on your doshas, your constitution based on where you're at in a healing journey or a healing crisis or whatever that is so this goes back a very long time and it's also supported by the california college of ayurveda it talks about enemas mayan my the maya used rituals of science around this too and it was a classic period where they would use ceramics as a way of entering the anus and rituals around this and listen they were given psychoactives because it would bypass the digestive system and get absorbed right in that lower digestive system i i witnessed this 25 years ago where someone I was with, they didn't get any results from, this was ayahuasca, I've since never done it again, not for those reasons, but they couldn't digest or something, the inhibitors that they shut off in ayahuasca, the vine and the root they're inhibiting, it wouldn't work for this individual so they basically gave this person an enema and then they had a beneficial trip.

6:16So this dates way back in the Mayan. So ancients understood that the quote unquote backdoor is a fast lane towards a lot of healing. And often now even modern science does support this in many and we'll break down some of that stuff. But the systemic absorption of water and electrolytes is quite powerful. And there was a, historically, they called it proteolysis. And this is called a Murphy's drip, where it would deliver hydration when oral IVs couldn't be used or it wasn't possible. And they saved people's lives in that way. So this is powerful. And it goes back and again, I put all this in the show notes and it's quite targeted delivery.

7:12Also, fecal implants and supporting the microbiome can be used in this way. And there is FDA approved single dose enemas that can reboot your microbiome. Also, a very powerful thing if you're constipated. I don't know I can't remember if I've ever been constipated probably in some instances but enemas can rapidly soften and help evacuate stools and again this is none of this is medical advice I do this stuff I've done it probably a hundred times over the course of several decades so I have a good understanding of what works for my body so again this is not medical advice you should talk to a practitioner and a professional that understands what's going on here and this is also not colonics colonics i also support in certain situations and conditions i've done that as well these are self-administered enemas enema bag gravity going in to the anus this is powerful So for me, Josh Mancine, the detox dudes, I did some parasite protocols and cleanses and enemas really supported the final evacuation.

8:37And listen, guys, I saw at least a foot long worm and several ones come out of me and I'm healthy. I've just been in a lot of countries over the entirety of my life. And I know because I have a whole story of parasites back in 2003 coming back from India. So I know parasites. I've had a lot of exposure. And so when you stop and allow your body to go through very specific, this is not a parasite podcast, but when you go through specific protocols and then that final push of an enema, Man, I saw evacuation of aliens that we all have. I know it's weird, but it's true. We all will have parasites, so you'll never get rid of all of your parasites.

9:31But getting back into balance is extremely important. And enemas are such a powerful way to do that. And again, a very powerful way to support your microbiome. biome, these things can be utilized quite powerfully. And colon cleanses, colon hydrotherapy, like I said, you know, for all the conservative people listening, you're never going to find the FDA approving any of this stuff, right? But again, through common sense, through practitioners, through understanding your own body, these predate anything the American Medical Association or the FDA by tens of thousands of years in some instances. So I want to bring back ancient wisdom and methods for us to have self-care of our incredible body that we have.

10:28And largely with the modernization of our life, we've divorced so much knowledge. Let's reawaken that stuff.

10:38Darin Olien:So One of the biggest questions I get constantly is, Darren, where can I find the best non-toxic cookware? Listen, I don't mess around with things that go ultimately in my body. And that includes what I cook with. That's why I swear by Our Place. Because from day one, they've been committed to making clean, healthy, non-toxic cookware and kitchenware. No sketchy coatings, no forever chemicals, just pure conscious design that are beautiful as well as highly functional. I've been using their titanium always pan for months now. It's the only pan I cook with and here's why. Pure titanium, non-toxic, PFAS free.

11:27Darin Olien:Extremely durable, metal utensils, high heat, dishwasher safe, and this is the thing. This thing can handle it all. All-in-one performance. The best stainless steel cast iron nonstick in a single pan. And here's the real kicker. Most nonstick pans, they're still loaded with PFAS, these forever chemicals that break down in your body and stay in your body and they accumulate over time. We just don't need that. They disrupt the gut microbiome, testosterone, dysregulation, metabolic issues, hormone imbalances, immune dysfunction, and chronic inflammation they contribute to. Think about it. Every time you cook, you could be introducing toxins into your body.

12:13Darin Olien:And the simple act of switching to safe cookware eliminates that. This is why it's the easiest, most powerful change you can make, certainly in your kitchen, for long-term health and the elimination of toxic exposure. Our place just launched their full Titanium Pro collection, and you can get 10 % off with my code. I've been using it for months, and I cook my tofu, I saute things, and it's fantastic. So ditch all the toxins and cook with confidence with the Titanium Always Pan Pro. So you can upgrade now. Go to fromourplace.com forward slash Darren or just use the code D-A-R-I-N Darren and you get 10 % off the site-wide.

13:01Darin Olien:And with a 100-day risk-free trial, free shipping and returns, you can experience this game-changing cookware with zero risk. Come on, who wouldn't want to do that? I used in this instance, I use coffee enemas. And again, you're going to find a lot of research out there that says, ah, these don't prove anything and all of that stuff. And I get it. You can abuse all of this stuff, but you also can abuse medications. The second leading cause of death is our modern medical system. So we're already in a situation where it's not just heart disease and cancer. It's our medical professionals giving us advice.

13:46And also those medications are also contributing to a lot of people dying. So let's just keep that in context. This is about knowledge. This is about learning something. This is about maybe finding practitioners that can help you be a better version of yourself to then have self-knowledge of this incredible vessel. So coffee enemas can definitely support the liver, support the detoxification, the releasing, the peristalsis in the lower digestive. Again, I'm putting my hand up. I am not an expert in enemas. I am simply giving you some information based on the research I've put together, based on very, very good outcomes I have had.

14:35Like lights have turned back on. When I know that I'm sluggish, I'm going through something or I've been stressed, enemas have turned lights back in and got the flow going literally and figuratively in my life. So a lot of shift can happen. Again, I'm a big support of vitamin IVs. those things can be a tool as well as we're all walking around a lot of us are dehydrated these are great ways to support us but they can be abused you can use it as a laxative you can use it as food you know anorexia and bulimics can abuse these kinds of things so again this is they're asterisks by everything you got to use your common sense and if you are abusing anything that is on you to get that help.

15:29But this is not about that. But I have to say that in this day and age because people will take all of this and saying you're promoting this and that everyone has a point of view. But in order for us to be better humans, we need to be open to what our bodies need and then lean into very, very ancient wisdoms and find people that you trust that you can learn from and then move into this stuff with a caution because you don't want to go all in on this stuff and blast yourself and go into a healing crisis and not have any support around that. If you're really thinking about leaning into this or asking a practitioner, just do it with eyes wide open and learn about your body first, about what's going on.

16:24These are not quick fixes at all. These are tools that you could potentially use. Some red flags. If you have irritable bowel of any sort or any problem, do not do enemas. Do not do this on your own. Don't just take this on and do a bunch of stuff from what I'm saying, some TikTok saying, whatever make sure that you're doing it with informed consent of what you need for yourself and your body and your professional support that you have so these red flags are around if you have abdominal pain if you have like i said irritable bowel disease if you have gi bleeding diverticulitis had surgeries heart disease any of that stuff you need to consult your doctor because these are red flags for just doing a random enema but ayurvedic practitioners would be incredible traditional chinese medicine potentially as well natural paths these are the types of people that can support you in this and then daily foundation of just support of your colon plant-based fiber rich foods, soluble, insoluble fiber.

17:46If someone's telling you to not eat fiber, run away from them as fast as possible. The research does not support not eating fiber. It is a wash of your colon. It moves your colon. It supports the microbiome. And the microbiome is creating, supporting enhancing enzymatic activity that is allowing you to live. It's extremely important to understand this stuff. Enemas are just, I'm just so excited because I do about two enemas a week right now. And it just, I'm telling you, it releases something, pun intended, but it also turns the lights back gone in some instances for me. So these are my, these are my takeaways, but it's, it is supported in ancient modalities, thousands of years, even before Christ.

18:45And also please check out Detox Dudes, Josh Mancine. He's got a lot of incredible knowledge over the last 10 years and the people that he has surrounding him, the professionals they have surrounding him. This is a plug. I don't get anything from it, but he's been a good mentor to help me get back in touch with something I was doing a long time ago. So that's it. Little history of animas, the pharaohs, to the Mayans, to the ancient Ayurveda is all supported in supporting your butt. The backdoor has a lot of possibilities to give you hydration, give you support, support your microbiome, clean you out, all of that stuff.

19:38And it is powerful if you choose to do that. Again, this is not medical advice. That's why I didn't give any specific protocols. None of my business what you do with this information. But lean into it. Learn from a good practitioner that can understand it. And if you are a candidate for doing regular enemas and you learn from what your body needs, it could be a nice switch to turn back on your own healing responses in your body. Keep in mind, your body is geared to heal all the time, always. And that's what I believe at my core. Peace.
