In short
World Cup Daily match recap and debate, focusing on Cabo Verde’s fearless results, Spain’s 4-0 win, Egypt’s first-ever World Cup win, and broader tournament trends (refereeing, game pace).
Guests
Clive (hosted with Timbsy/Elias Yang; Arsenal Vision podcast). Clive is an Arsenal fan and “friend of the show,” discussing football tactically and linking World Cup insights to Arsenal next season.
Key claims
Cabo Verde are “fearless,” relentlessly attacking and could still qualify; Spain’s breakthrough is driven by 18-year-old Lamine Yamal’s wide threat and line-breaking; Mohamed Salah’s stock rises after a strong World Cup moment and Egypt’s historic win; referees are letting play continue more, resisting time-wasting/feigned injury.
Notable examples
Cabo Verde’s opener/free-kick by Kevin Pina and their undefeated group record; Spain’s 4-0 vs (implied) with Yamal scoring/creating and Alvaro Morata’s efficient finishing; Egypt’s 92-year World Cup drought broken via Mustafa Zico’s equalizer and go-ahead goal; Japan’s 4-0 and Tomiyasu’s return; Uruguay’s Bielsa-ball struggles with draws vs Cabo Verde and Saudi Arabia.

0:25Michael Timbs:Hello everyone, Timbsy here and welcome to the World Cup Daily. for the Arsenal Vision podcast. A lot of action to talk about, so we're going to dive straight into it. And I am joined by fan favourite, friend of the show, the ying to Elias Yang. It is Clive. How are you doing, mate? Hello, hello. Someone's got to calm him down. You can't have been running around roughshod all the time. Yeah, exactly. Well put. Well put. Before we get into it, have you been enjoying the World Cup? I have, actually. It's quite nice to just watch football without being super intense and super on every single detail.
1:06It's like being, I haven't got annoyed. I've got a little bit annoyed. I haven't got annoyed because not every pass matters. And it's just a chance to look at football, you know, tactically and see what the trends are and see what's happening around the world. And see how global the game is, how global the coaching is. but then within that you have a massive country like the u.s and then you have mexico and canada and you have all these different communities coming together about one sport and they have a different view of it and when you look at it with that sort of patchwork quilt in front of you it's beautiful isn't it it's just beautiful seeing how people look at sport differently and football differently yeah and given the fact that when we talk in detail on every single arsenal game this is all massive inputs to me to for next season you know to get ready for what we're
1:54Michael Timbs:going to see so yeah it's great really enjoying it yeah for sure no i'm i'm the same it's uh it's just fun to not have every game be do or die and you can actually watch it and kind of relax as a neutral is uh is is nice so um but plenty plenty of headlines to to talk about uh i will give you as elliot does to me i will give you the honor of choosing the first headline that that sprung out to you? Which game are we going with first? Just general, a general feeling. Whatever one, yeah, you want. So I should have explained better. See, this is Elliot, such a better host than me. Any of the, obviously, the four or five games yesterday, really, but the biggest headline from yesterday's action that, yeah, stuck out.
2:39Yeah, the biggest headline for me was really Kate Verde, really.
2:43Michael Timbs:I think just seeing them, I know it sounds really, it sounds really simple but they tried really really hard they are fearless absolutely fearless and we watch a lot of football in the Premier League where fear and the loss of money and loss of points seem to pervade the whole game and you see them absolutely playing to their maximum with there's a chance to go forward they're going forward a million miles an hour there's a chance take a shot it's the case of the ball's being kicked off you know they did a tackle it's a massive tackle it's just like everything was just so exaggerated and it's been really fun to to watch them you know and um and i'm thinking okay you're gonna just like stop soon and realize that you shouldn't be doing this and then just keep going yeah so um yeah so kate burley fearlessness I really enjoyed that for sure no it's incredible I think that it's almost been a trend of the of the World Cup as well I feel like the smaller teams haven't pulled any punches yeah I mean they're they're fully going for it and it's almost like just as you say like do or die they're like non-stop relentless just trying their absolute hardest to just doesn't matter about defense just try and score and it's um it's it's fun it's very fun to watch and obviously Cape Verde I'd say has been a very popular headline already this World Cup as well.
4:12Michael Timbs:Just because they're doing wonders now. I mean, like, undefeated against the two hardest teams in their squad, in their group, sorry. And they've now got Saudi Arabia to come up and that, I mean, who knows? They could do anything. They could get through, like, it wouldn't surprise me. And so, for me, my my headline my second headline would be the salee goal of the day and i'm gonna do an elliot here and seamlessly uh plug salee uh so salee is of course uh the app that you put on your phone of course it's an e-sim uh app that lets you use your phone all around the world more securely and affordably uh which i've been doing actually since i've been been here it's been very very useful since I've been in New York.
5:06Michael Timbs:You don't have to buy SIM cards anymore, not the physical ones anyway. You don't have to keep changing when you go from place to place and it's much cheaper than using your international plan on your cell phone. Plus it has ad blockers and a lot of other security protection benefits. So make sure you get the Saley app and use Arsenal Vision for 15 % off. That is Arsenal Vision for 15 % off the Saley app for your eSIM. And that is the Saley goal of the day. I will be going with I think I have to go with one of the Cape Verde, I'm going to hop on your headline, I have to go with one of the Cape Verde goals and I don't know if I should go with the equaliser because it was so momentous but then obviously the opener them taking the lead and the free kick from, was it Pina?
5:56Yeah that's his name
5:57Michael Timbs:Kevin Pina, unbelievable it's just that you you think it kind of against spain you're like right they're they're the world cups peaked as much as it's an incredible story like wow that's you know but then they might struggle and it's like no the the celebrations have got even crazier because now the goals have got better and there's no more belief and so it's like everyone i feel like now cape verde is everyone's like second favorite team of the world you support your nation and then after that everyone's back in Cape Verde and they're delivering it's incredible so yeah that that moment I'd say it's obviously my like goal of the day but also just maybe the moment of the day and the team of the day and maybe my favorite team of the tournament as well so far aside from England so yeah that'll be that will be my headline as well we'll go with another headline if you've got one we'll go with another one I've got one if you need I've got another headline the only team to annoy me so far have in belgium why do belgium annoy me and i don't know i don't know what it is because i'm watching them and i'm thinking hold on a minute this golden generation has definitely passed you know lukark is not the player he was de bruyne has you know some of those cutbacks they were goals three years ago you know then he's now he's struggling to find his feet a little bit in his touch and he trusts us the best player on the pitch with the goalkeeper and i'm gonna trust so I played really well but that wasn't the case a few years ago he was struggling to get in the team now he's the main man in the team along with Doku so I do think it's Belgium annoyed me because I wanted them to be better I don't know why I don't want them to be better and they should be better they're just not quite delivering and so yeah they've annoyed me the goals the chances they keep missing the guy called De Kuyper missed about three or four chances one almost open goal I'm thinking come on lads deal with them right so is that the european bit inside of me thinking the european teams the guys who i call the haves versus the have-nots you should be delivering you're the ones with millionaire contracts come on deliver deliver and um so yes i don't know why belgium annoyed me that's how i that's how i felt watching how about yourself yeah i i would agree like it's i i find that i kind of put them and the Netherlands together in terms of should they have the players to do a lot better than they do and they rarely deliver and it does annoy me but I agree it annoys me more when Belgium do it than when the Netherlands do it I don't know what I prefer Belgium to Netherlands I don't know if it's because of like their players or just I think them as a country I don't know I don't really have favorites but yeah something about them it I want them to do much better than they do so I agree I I do get a little bit annoyed as well obviously selfishly I mean it'll be good to know from you it'll be it'll be silly to to get you on the World Cup daily and not talk about Arsenal Leo does seem like the kind of Mr.
9:00Michael Timbs:Reliable almost the the guy there for that team who like you watched him I thought he played well he was he was definitely I'm getting their their main who kind of threaded everyone together. It's not really De Bruyne anymore. He just didn't look, doesn't look the same sort of player. And I wonder if that's, you know, going off a year where he played quite a lot for us, but he didn't play loads. Like he did spend, you know, parts of the season in and out of the team because of either injury or Martinelli or kind of selection problems. And maybe he's just finished on a high. well of course he's finished on a high but using that momentum where he's actually still got relatively fresh legs taking that into the world cup as being right well i need to be the one to you know drag belgium through but going into next season whether i saw i saw something on twitter earlier about whether this is the time to to cash in or because he's such a funny player where he's obviously so talented to just recklessly just let him go but equally there's always that thought of like how does he fit in and whether going forward we need to make changes you know he's in a bit of a weird situation really as much as i love him yeah it's a strange one because we all even want to we all want to sort of evolve the squad and and then you have these players that should be sold and when they get sort of close to being sold well maybe we should keep them a bit longer exactly and i have the same thing about martin elli i spent half a year worrying about his intelligence and then he has a good game of him oh he's a good player you know he knows our system maybe we just keep him you know so but then you don't evolve yeah you don't evolve you don't show people different face if you don't show people different face they're going to catch you up right so um so evolution is necessary i like trossard he's been an absolutely life-saving signing for us just imagine what would have happened if he wasn't there for the last three and a half years so yeah he's been brilliant he had a rough 26 but when he came to it the last four or five games he was fantastic and we all had him in our first 11 but there is a time when maybe for him it's maybe suited as well you know where he is he's 30 31 it's just maybe it's time but if someone said we're going to keep him for one more year and let him go on the free as a reward that wouldn't bother me neither long as the strategy is good and we're bringing someone else so they're going to make decisions probably based on the offers that come in really aren't they get a good offer for one you take it and then you and then you pivot on your strategy but i like the guy you can look at him and just see when he's on it he's got this little angry face that says i'm in control i'm on it today but that and it can also go the other way sometimes he can just disconnect from the game you know let his emotions take over so i like the player he's almost like a where football is going that modern efficiency you know being really efficient in your actions and your passing actions and your shooting actions is what we need to add more of um for those that know me i prefer slightly taller players more physical players so i think that's where we are going as a league and as a team but yeah he's definitely got a place in the modern game and i think he's got a good two three years ahead of him whether it's an answer or not i'm not so sure yeah no for sure right um well another headline before we go into stocks rising there are quite a few headlines actually you know there's been for the most part every day has has sprung up quite a few headlines a lot happened yesterday i think before we move on a brief mention of course of the the japan game because that happened so late so we didn't manage to cover that one from the day before um great to see japan uh do well 4-0 just a just a really solid team and obviously still missing key players but just super reliable and um i'm glad that they they're now looking like they're going to make it through if they, I mean depending on their final game but they're on four points, same as the Netherlands and look well worth they're placing the next round really I think yeah they will be when I look at Japan I look at their team and look at their energy right and they are they're so energetic across the pitch so they just look so sharp and that's the first I think they've got a playing identity, right?
13:26Where they're really forward-thinking, quite vertical. And then the other reason I look at Japan is for Tomiyasu, of course. I think he started the last game. And he's a player that's just in our hearts, isn't he? Just in our hearts completely. Someone who had troubles with injury and just got himself back. I think that's his first start for Japan in quite a while. Which means his football career is not over, which is fantastic, right? So that brings joy to me. I don't know about you, Timsy. that it brings joy to me that he's back you know he's back he's got a club and he's doing well fair play to him it's really pleasing moment because i was really worried about him yeah
14:02Michael Timbs:yeah me too and also there's there's very rarely an arsenal player that that leaves and i don't keep an eye out for them and want them to do well you know they're always whether it's flo whether it's tommy whether it's even nicholas pepe whenever he pops up i'm like yeah go on mate i always thought we should have given you a bit more of a chance you know um right uh so also uh i think i have to shout out tunisia manager herve renard um he loves a white shirt doesn't he mate he loves a white shirt he's he's sporting a greater tan than i and i think i'm quite sun-kissed right now and and he's also a gorgeous man who looks like he should be out of a james bond film so So well done to him, despite his managerial stint not going that well and Tunisia crashing out.
14:52Michael Timbs:What are you going to do? You can't have it all, Herve. So there we go. Right. I will go with my final headline. I'll go with the easy one, and it can seamlessly roll into stocks rising as well. It's got to be Spain finally doing the business 4-0. and in no small part due to their best player, who's a child, Laminya Maal, who, I mean, it was obvious they were missing him, but then when he played and it looked from genuinely the first 30 seconds when he broke down that right-hand side and somehow just pushed someone over and got past two or three, it was like, oh, you are actually, you might be the best player in the world at that age.
15:41Michael Timbs:He really could be. He's just so, he's so, so good and just constantly a threat, provides him with something different. I think he also seems to, I mean, at this game anyway, like free up the rest of the team going forward, just knowing that he's always going to be there. He hugs the touchline so well and then it's just unpredictable and just breaks lines his passing is incredible like i mean we could talk all day about him but it's nice as well to see another star rise up and um and uh make their mark in the world cup as well because it was i think it was maybe lacking in the first like few days or so of the tournament it was like oh where are these where are these big names gone and uh he he has certainly arrived to the party and uh great player yeah he's great i think with spain we all we know spain's football didn't we?
16:33They keep the ball all day, tip-tap round midfield, and then we look at them and think, why can't we do that? In their first game, they didn't have their what I call winger reference points. So Cucurello on one side, they didn't really have anybody on the right-hand side until Lamar came on. But in this game, they had reference points in wide areas and they could find them all day, and then Alasabar was in the middle, and suddenly Omer looked better, and Pedri looked better, and he's like, oh, here they come. They're not done. I don't think they're as good as they happened in the past you know um but with that guy there 18 year old he should be doing his school work running around doing stuff from the outside of the pitch everything is possible isn't it you know so um like a team again very very quickly so yeah unfortunately and they've got
17:19Michael Timbs:yeah yeah unfortunately we're gonna see aren't we but uh they've also got one of my favorite players are just on the bench as well in Marino just you know like Ayasabao scored what I would consider very I mean he played well and obviously two good goals but two very Marino goals they're goals that I would expect I think if he played yesterday there would have been no difference I think he would have also scored those two exact goals and they would have won 4-0 Marino is what you call efficient again efficiency again he just takes chances he makes it look easy doesn't he like oh why can't we all do that yeah and also sorry to bring it back to Arsenal but tough luck I forgot how good he was in the first half of the season as well he was such a underrated but crucial player for so many like clutch moments in the first half of the season so yeah my love for him is always growing what a guy um right so we've uh made our way through some headlines we might as well make it onto stocks rising um so who or what or what thing or person or manager or player or fan do you feel like their stocks rising i will i will if you want i can go first give you a little bit of time to think you go first but okay well obviously we talked about laminio mile that's an that's an obvious stock rising but his i mean his stock was already through the roof anyway i will say uh should give him his props stock rising uh well done mo salah and because i was hugely disappointed and i think a lot of people were with uh their first their first game and um obviously them being quite like disappointed uh and and salah just being a i say a bit of a flop like fully just a flop just not not good at all um looked like his this season's seller and you're thinking like he's just he has you know he's lost it he's not he's not the guy anymore and his legs are gone and he's not dangerous anymore direct um or maybe he is direct but just not i don't know he's just lost it in in sort of like technically or kind of skillfully or whatever it is and then he he scored a great goal and looked like his old self and Egypt at least as well won their first ever World Cup game which was momentous and uh yeah he was he was a crucial part of that took his goal well and um it was nice nice nice to see him happy again because as much as I personally don't mind him not having a good season because he plays for one of our rivals it was nice to see him like actually smiling and like relaxed and having fun and then obviously when they they won they went to the streets that i think they took to the streets of vancouver as well like partying in the streets with the speaker and the national team and he's just there and it's like still mo salah like as much as maybe the rest of the egyptian team you're kind of like oh yeah it's nice they took the streets it's like mo salah like one of the best players in the world and one of the the best players the premier league scene is just like parading in the streets of vancouver and celebrating a win because it's their first ever in the world cup it's a it's a very cool moment so i will not reluctantly but just i will give the my first stock rising to to muhammad salah yeah that's good i was you know i was gonna go muhammad salah's agent that's where i was gonna go because uh because i do that because yeah he's not the player he used to be and much like right?
21:10Father Time is undefeated, right? It just happens, no drama to it. But I was, you know, he dropped away so much that I thought, cracking, what are you going to do next? And now the art of the possible is open again. You scored an assist in the World Cup in front of the world. And, you know, the whole of Egypt were watching you have a momentous moment. So he's aged and sitting thinking, yes, happy days. Where do I sign him up now? So, yeah, I thought it was a key moment for him because every other you know you got harland you got kane you got you know you got yamal you got mbappe these big world stars all appearing on the scene also i didn't mention messi everyone apart from ronaldo he says yeah and everyone's appearing on the scene you know with their ready to go and and sallow's there and he suddenly you know two years ago he was the guy right literally he won little poor the league and there was no debate his numbers were great he played 38 games and he just dropped you know so yeah it's always nice when someone reminds you that you know
22:13Michael Timbs:what i'm not done yet i'm not done yeah exactly yeah um any any other stock rise i feel like um i need to elliot wrote that kindly wrote down as well you you need to also give mustafa ziko his uh his props the the real egyptian hero in this in this game uh header to level it on on the 58th minute and the back year list itself the the go ahead goal which is a very American term which is the goal to take the lead for English listeners so which is obviously true you know a goal and assist in a win that broke their 92 year World Cup drought so fair enough it's a maybe an asterisk there it's it's Mohamed Salah but asterisk actually Mustafa Zico so thank you for that Elliot there's a couple of players I liked watching and one of them sent off funny enough it was gonna say why are you picking on him he's good the belgian player he actually said he's actually was looking really quite good and i'm looking at right foot he just sent it back right back so you look quite good i was just about to tweet out then he got sent off for dodgy back pass i thought guy didn't say nothing on that one which i've just done but actually the uruguay sort of left back left winger harajo his name is he and he plays the sport in Lisbon and he played against us and was excellent and I'll keep watching him I keep seeing a player that looks very progressive on left-hand side and so I just want to give him a shout out with my hat on looking at what we might do in these fullback areas I just think you look interesting and sometimes we end up buying people who played well against us and I've watched the World Cup twice now he's looked good in both games he scored in this game I know you didn't win but he looked really good so yeah he'd be another person that i'm looking at from a stock writing point of view as well nice that is a great shout that's really good um i would also say you know what as my final stock rising i i'm gonna put the refs in there or or the reffing but but but i'm gonna single out one aspect of refereeing because i don't think all the refereeing has been amazing and i think i don't like how many like red cards and bookings there have been but i get that again i mean me and elliot spoken about this it's a different standard of refereeing and that sort of thing that you just need to get used to fine what i do like and what i've seen quite a lot over the last two three days i think refs are are letting a lot of things go when it comes to players feigning injury and trying to win fouls and just like real cheap clashes or you know knocks off or on the ball that just aren't fouls and that shouldn't be given as fouls, but players go down because obviously they're trying to just win a foul or stop play or whatever it is.
25:02Michael Timbs:And they're very obviously just not hurt. And we've obviously seen this over the years in the Premier League and stuff, but I feel like it has been quite a regular occurrence, this World Cup. I'm not singling any one nation out or any particular continent either. I think it's been pretty much everyone has used it because we've seen more breaks in play than ever because of the hydration breaks. And I think it's a trend at the moment of just players trying to, more so now than ever, of trying to break up play. And I like that the refs have sort of resisted that and they've kept play going when a player is just still on the floor and they're like, no, just get up and just ignore them, which I think refs should do more.
25:51Michael Timbs:and I love it when they do do that. Like the guy isn't hurt, just play on. And just if anything, tell him it's like, no, you've got to get up. Otherwise you're just, you're costing your team and you're down to 10 men, you know. I really like that. So I would give that a stock rising as well. Yeah, that's a great shout. And I think it's a wider football discussion about how football's becoming a game of almost plays and it's just five minutes here, stop. Three minutes here, stop. And this is a broader discussion to have about how the game is changing, set pieces, how long they take. They're trying to bring in rules to speed things up.
26:25So when you get a referee that actually slows it down, you've got a real problem about the product that's in front of you. So it's a great shout to say, look, Leafs referees are trying to keep it going best they can in an environment around football, which I think is changing. And I don't just mean I think, we can all see it, can't we? It's just the best England moment was 15 minutes after halftime. it's just a chunk of time you know and that was it you know and yeah and we're looking at bursts of play now you know maybe it's a time of year it's a tournament etc but it's gonna be an interesting thing to see how it drags into the premier league next year it's gonna be so interesting yeah for sure um any other stocks rising or should we should we go to stocks falling yeah well yes go to stocks falling i don't like doing stocks falling but i'm a nice guy
27:15Michael Timbs:oh no yeah no me too it depends who it depends whose stock is falling as well because sometimes it's nice to pile on the misery just a tiny tiny bit um but we don't need to do loads anyway there's there there are a few stock fall stocks falling i think um i i i can kick us off yeah go on then go on with one being well actually no you were about to say one so i'll let you do it because I don't want to take yours. I was just, I don't know why I did that damn them Belgians and it just annoyed me. But, you know, it's so interesting. Without Doku, they had a reference point on the left-hand side and they replaced him almost with Lukaku down the middle.
27:55And sometimes when you know where someone's going to be, you can stop them. You know, and they stopped him so easily and I just felt, I just thought he was so poor. You know, and hell, he can't play well all the time but come on man you've got to rise above this level sort of thing and I found him really frustrating a player that's it's really strange because when he came off the bench in the first game you think well he's got to start he's got to start yeah of course yeah got to start him got to start then he starts and he does that you think come on man he's going to be on the bench next game maybe and he's just like I find that just a bit frustrating and I don't know why I'm frustrated with Belgium I have no allegiances they just they brought out that arsehole side in me that's a bit lying a bit dormant and so i just expect a bit more from him so he'd be one of mine
28:43Michael Timbs:for sure yeah i think there is that level of disappointment as well because you're i i personally have always felt a little bit sorry for lukaku as well for how much stick he's always got when like his record speaks for itself and you just think like you can't score that many goals and not be good and then he does that exactly you say come off the bench you're like this guy has to start he's still got it and then he's and then he starts you go oh that's why you don't start okay all right fine go back to the bench um right i will go with i'll go with uh as much as i love him i go with bielsa ball okay uh bielsa bielsa ball and the uruguayans can't be very happy right now uh they're undefeated but they they sort of should be especially given the two games they've had, two draws and it just hasn't quite worked.
29:41Michael Timbs:I mean, it was always going to be interesting how Bielsa Ball would play for the Uruguay national team and at a World Cup when it's hot and just the demands physically on players. I mean, it's not always hot obviously because there's been a lot about the air-conditioned stadiums as well but it's intense, especially after a long season as well and you're trying to implement your style and your system for the national team. And yeah, they don't look like a solid side yet. I think they've had flashes of good play and looking like a side that has potential. But then also being pegged back. I mean, yeah, obviously the game against Cape Verde, which was a mental game.
30:32Michael Timbs:And I think actually an unbelievable game for the neutral as well, because it was at the end as well. They're both going for it. It's end to end. It's chaos. And that, I guess, is Bielsa ball for you. It's just like, right, we're going. But they'll be hugely disappointed not to have at least one win, because seeing as they've played Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde, and now they need to play against Spain. and get something to ensure they get through. Bielsa will be hugely disappointed that they're in this situation. And I think it will be a big shock if they don't go through. And now there is a greater chance of that.
31:09Michael Timbs:So I feel as much as I love Bielsa, I think his press conferences are amazing. I love him as a manager, but it just hasn't quite worked out for him yet. So I'll say his stock has fallen, but I would like his stock to rise by the next time they play because I do think he's a good fan. If he stops going to rise, you've got to get rid of Vigate in midfield because he keeps kicking the ball out. What do you expect? His second touch is a tackle. I mean, it's like, yeah, I was watching him last night because obviously your eyes go towards the players that play in the Premier League and you're thinking, God, look at you.
31:44He literally was spraying the ball out for a throw in. It's just like, that's a stop falling.
31:49Michael Timbs:And compare it to Valverde as well. and Valverde no matter who you're playing for that's the guy you're playing with then you are a customer of what he does next you know exactly yeah and so yeah it was interesting to watch it fine enough you know they don't annoy me like Belgium annoy me I don't know what it is and although they need to get that win you know because I think there's something there's another game or two in them but they could go easily you know they could easily not make it right so but we'll see but yeah Akate is one for me I just didn't enjoy his performance didn't think technically good enough so yeah yeah but i don't mind that as well focusing on him and singling him out as well that's absolutely fine i'm all for that um any other stocks falling i'm i'm conscious we we there's a few obviously there's quite a few games we're recording obviously day off so there's there's games happening today which are which are a lot of fun that uh we can briefly touch on as well so any other stocks falling before we move on no i'm good for now i'm also looking forward to watching Argentina and France later on.
32:48Michael Timbs:Yeah. Again, you know. It is those two, right? We're just looking at those two to just see, was the first game a fluke? Like, can they keep it up? You know, it's a lot of fun. Yeah, it is. The tournament's long, you know. So whatever you do in the first game is important, but it's not the most important thing. It's how you build up. But then looking at France, you're thinking, okay, when you turn it on, you look quite good. You know, the guy up front is pretty sharp and quick. At least he's fighting his confidence. and Dembele, the current winner of the Ballon d 'Or, trying to find his place in the team.
33:21I mean, these are first world problems, aren't they? They're very star-studied, if anything. Maybe wins the goalkeeper is a little bit hit and miss. Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how they go. Because some of the teams that you're watching, it's been a great, almost like community feel to the football. Then the level of some of the teams and some of the games have been maybe slightly below what we watch every single week. But then you see France playing, ah, there you go. That's the level. And I see England's at that level as well. There you go. So interesting, interesting.
33:56Michael Timbs:Yeah, for sure. I think France, England's second half, France's second half, very similar. France have that fear factor as well, though, when things click. And there were a few times when they got through last game against Senegal. And you are just, I imagined England trying to defend against that as well and I was just like oh yeah we'd get dragged out of position like that as well I just you know because the pace and the feet are electric and it's just oh yeah not nice to think about actually but a lot of fun when it's not your team playing against them so that's going to be a good guy I think uh yeah nice to see France play again obviously great to see I mean maybe Messi scores another hat trick you know keep the keep the dream going did you watch the Messi game live did you watch it live I did I didn't watch it like I oh no did I watch that one live I didn't watch that one I watched France live so I didn't watch the Argentina live because I caught it next day I was missing out that feeling of watching that live I sort of you know we missed that one it's a bit late for me but yeah it looks he looks good he looked good yeah yeah I think watching that live would have been special because I mean from what everyone was saying as well on Twitter or in group chats and stuff saying like ah no he is he's still got that just that magic of you're you're you are witnessing greatness even at his age you know um so it'd be good to see how much that i will watch live i'm definitely not going to miss that so i can see it to be around when he's been around and it's almost like you're thinking when he's now come out again from the us he's come out and done that it's almost like hearing an old record again he's reminding you when he was younger he's like they don't make like the old tunes yeah exactly that some soul weekend when i'm shaking my head around and uh a mess he's come on the pitch and i knew he was good yeah exactly yeah really good really good um also a quick word on obviously france we keep an eye out for for saliba i know he was in a press conference said that uh the pitch wasn't that great last time and because there's been a lot being made about like carrying injuries a lot of our players actually obviously with the stuff with Declan Rice.
36:05Michael Timbs:And so it'll be interesting to see how he plays as well. Because I think he did play well. Maybe not his absolute top level. Like Gabi for Brazil as well. When they're missing each other, they're just not the same. But it's still good to see him solid. And it'll be good to see as well what Odegaard does for Norway. Because they play Senegal today as well. And they obviously got that first win. Which is great for them because I think they should be through now. But we'll see. We'll see. It's going to be a lot of fun today. So that'll be it for today. Thank you guys very much for listening. I apologise.
36:41Michael Timbs:Elliot's not here. That's my fault. But we brought in Clive and he's better than me. Off the bench. It's the super sub. And then it's actually like, now you'll be starting next week. It's the Trossard problem. Am I Lukaki then? No, I'm kinder than that. You're Trossard. so good trust i like that one it's much better uh but like clive thank you so much for for joining me uh it's a pleasure thank you i'm glad you enjoyed the world cup and uh we'll get you on the show again i'll be on again for definite amazing all right man well thank you guys and uh right we'll see you uh for tomorrow's episode enjoy the football
37:30Thank you.
