In short
World Cup Daily recap of dramatic matchday: England survive DR Congo, Belgium rally past Senegal, and the US beat Bosnia—plus debate over key refereeing/VAR moments and tactical issues.
Guests
Elliot (host) and Michael “Timmsy” Timms (co-host). Both are football-focused commentators; Timmsy is an England/Arsenal fan who analyzes tactics, substitutions, and player roles. Elliot moderates and adds a more neutral “stats vs nerves” perspective.
Key claims
- England vs DR Congo: England were frustrated/dour for ~60–70 minutes, but substitutions changed the game; Kane’s finishing decided it. The conceded goal is framed as a chain of defensive errors/communication issues.
- England’s bigger problem is squad/tactics: concerns about back line quality, keeper mediocrity, and lack of combination play when using Rice/Anderson with Kane and Bellingham.
- US vs Bosnia: US played front-foot, direct, high-tempo football; VAR red card for Balogun is criticized as losing context and being harsh.
- Balogun’s red is a major miss for the next match.
Notable examples
- Harry Kane’s decisive goals (including a technically praised second).
- Anthony Gordon’s impact as a substitute (assists; Rashford less effective).
- Balogun’s offside goal and the red-card challenge debate.

0:55After an entire season of Arsenal not getting a single red card, American Arsenal fans are treated to FIFA's version of the PGML. This is the World Cup Daily. My name is Elliot. You can block me on Twitter. Hello, everybody. Welcome to the World Cup Daily. And we've got a lot to talk about because it was a very fun and dramatic day in the World Cup yesterday. We had an extra time winning goal for Belgium, including two stoppage time goals to come back from a two goal deficit to defeat Senegal. we had Harry Kane your and my favorite player Harry Kane winning it for England we had the USA looking good and then holding off Bosnia after receiving what I think some people feel is a dodgy red card but we'll get Timsey's view on that and since I've given away the game already
1:42Michael Timbs:I will now introduce Michael Timms hello Timsey hello hello hello uh very excited to talk about the the day's action because that was uh that was stressful I think it was stressful it was stressful so let's what we're gonna do we're gonna do headline stock rising stock falling but we're gonna do it for every single game because they were each too awesome to just yada yada any of them but we are going to do them in order of interest uh and i i'm going to renew and restore relations between our two nations that have broken down ever since we went to war for our independence we're gonna restore that now by me offering you the olive branch to say we can do the England game first Timsey so what is your headline from from England to DR Congo one uh the headline would be job done I'm worried that's simply it that's the shortest headline I've given this world but you're worried from the safety of the round of 16 yeah yeah look it it was not a good game it was I don't think any England fan every England fan will be relieved and happy that we're through um and Kane is just incredible but there's nothing we don't know uh the first 70 minutes or so were about as frustrating as we've had in a long time I think basically it it felt for so long like the Iceland game in the Euros in 2016 if England oh yeah I remember that how bad that goal it was so reminiscent of that where it just there was no there was no goal in sight for us it was like there is no way with the way that we're playing i know that their goalie had a great game saved some amazing chances on our part but it just looked like one of those days where it's like it doesn't matter what we do with the team we've got out goal and there were so many question marks why why haven't we why have we started this team why haven't we made the subs that we need to make why haven't made them earlier uh and it just yeah up until we scored it just looked like it was only going one way really and then with the as soon as as soon as we scored we were pretty sure we were going to win and we were quite confident so um the good thing is the subs made a big difference and there was a marked like change in how we played uh from the substitutions but yeah the first 65 70 minutes were really really bad and if we do anything like that against mexico they will they will blow us away not because they're a better team than us not because they've got better players than us but just the way they've been playing they haven't conceded and just playing at home in the azteca with all those fans it's just it the occasion might get to us and we we wouldn't be able to get past them if we play like that so yeah it wasn't a wasn't a good game for us but i'm obviously glad we're through yeah i i mean so i'm going to give a headline when we get to stocks falling maybe i'll i'll i'll reverse on this headline a little bit but i'm going to say timsey my headline is from a more neutral not totally neutral but more neutral perspective england were probably fine um okay yeah so because my take on this right is the goal that was conceded was i think an error just really really poor individual play or yeah poor bits of individual flag yeah yeah it was it was a weird one i think i don't know whose fault it was you could say it was mandewake for not tracking back you could say it was jed spence for letting that ball go over go over and him being dragged in you could say it's the kind of the two center backs and the concert for communication like dragged to the wrong player yeah like i think to be honest it's probably the two center backs the fact that they were so far over there was there didn't seem to be much communication um i personally don't think konza's like up to the standard i i never think he was up to the standard but also just even watching that game and throughout the throughout the tournament so far i've not been convinced by him he's even just like simple things like let alone defending it's like the quality on the ball just the touches and the passes that he plays and he just doesn't look comfortable and like I don't blame him it's just like what kind of what do you expect I guess it's like he's not he's not the John Stones of two years ago or four years ago he's not Harry Maguire who's basically an underrated footballer in that regard like Mark Gay is great but you need you can't just have one good centre-back like him being next to him I just don't think he's up to the the quality of the of of his partner so um yeah it was that was obviously i get what you mean it was a mistake like it was maybe just a bit of a lack of concentration or communication or not on our part um but julie punished uh by them and they could have been a lot they could have been well with this should have scored yep and but like so the goal itself is is an a series of errors and then also it leads to a wide angle shot that should be saved by pickford anyway he shouldn't be getting there so there's that right but but my point is more like this is the world cup it's not going to be easy dr congo like i realized that they don't have the history of being good in the world cup but there's a lot of actually decent players on that team and like players who play the premier league and have for a while and you know it it was the case again that england like england as i watched it i kind of felt they're gonna find this goal somewhere they're going to find the goal to get into this game and as it wore on I was like are they really not going to but I I sort of felt like they would and I do I do think that England fundamentally are probably going to be stronger against the stronger teams than the weaker teams and I will come on to why that's the case later but I think really the the problem for England is I I think the back four is bad and the keeper is deeply mediocre and when you're up the pitch the whole game and you you concede a few opportunities i don't think the quality is there at the back and i'll come on to that a bit more but like there's a whole chemistry and and alchemy of a squad question that is always a question for international football right we talked about this with france you know would deschamps get the chemistry right like he always screws up he picks the players i don't like why is he playing this guy why is he playing that guy and like that's because it's hard to get international squad chemistry right you don't get a lot of time to blend with these guys everybody's got their favorite that they think should be playing I don't know that I think Tuchel has gotten that right and I'll come on to that and stock falling but like fundamentally the Mexico game will be an interesting test of that because England have the names Mexico seems to have the the composition of the squad to to work well together um but if England are pushed back maybe just a little bit more i'll be very curious to see how they play when they can break out from a bit more of a defensive shape you know yeah yeah it's an odd one because at the same time i i think tuchel's a great manager he speaks very well and so you kind of you maybe give him a bit more rope than you would like a southgate for example especially when he first started because it's you you you trust him a bit more with the decisions he makes whether that's like the team selection or the substitutes or how he plans on you know playing the team but equally some decisions don't really make sense about like squad selection aside because that is done and now there's kind of no point talking about that or arguing over that but even just that there is a big question mark over what is the best 11 and especially at the back as you say like that we just don't have that good a defense compared to previous years.
9:44Michael Timbs:Pickford is not getting any better. He's always been a better international goalkeeper than he has been a domestic one. But even then, I'm not convinced. And arguably, Henderson would be a better fitting goal. He's had a great season for Palace. But yeah, I don't know how we go about tackling this Mexico team. Because if we do defend like that we got better i guess but even then like you can't have those lapses in concentration because this Mexico side have shown like that they can they can punish you especially with all the kind of momentum and just positivity they've got playing at home it will be really tough for us to like grind out a result if we don't defend properly um i would say Declan looks tired like he by the end he did he wasn't by the end he did but this is not to say obviously like I love him.
10:36Michael Timbs:This is not to say he played back. He played really well. And I always think he plays well because he's just such a good player. But like for the deck that we're used to seeing, it is not quite the same. Maybe because it's a different system. He's not used to playing with Anderson, for example. But like, I don't think that midfield works. It doesn't work. It doesn't work. Yeah. It doesn't work. Like there's a lot of, there are a lot of things malfunctioning in this team. Defense is clearly obvious, but when you're playing against a team like DR Congo and you're going to have more of the ball they weren't even like sat back they weren't even this is the thing like that they're not as good a team as us and usually when you play lesser teams like we did for example in the group stages like against Ghana teams will sit back and they're like look we've got two banks of four break us down sweet and we struggled to do that DR Congo weren't even they weren't even sat back they were like pretty attacking and wouldn't be afraid of like going at us and then going back there's still there are gaps there and stuff but like we're really struggling to find a way through and passing out to medweke very frustrating with like his end product of course but then there's just something not right about elliot anderson in there by the way i don't think he's had a great world cup at all so whether we make a substitute for mexico we bring in like cobi cobi hasn't played um maybe a bit more of like a holding controlling midfield i honestly don't know it's a headache it to me like the the problem with playing anderson and rice is exacerbated by the fact that jude bellingham who i adore is not a midfielder he just isn't like functionally he does he'll do everything but he isn't a midfielder it's like calling kai havertz a midfielder right like he can play in midfield but really he's a support striker when he's playing there right Like, that's the situation.
12:26And for me, when you have a Harry Kane who doesn't move and a Jude Bellingham who wants to really run him behind and get in the box and do everything and score all the goals, and then you have two sixes who can cover a lot of ground and have qualities but aren't going to link the play to those attacking players. Like, there's no combination play. And I think even though he didn't do much, when Saka and Eza were on, you immediately saw a triangle develop and Rice was over on the right. That triangle on the right, there was one-touch passing. They were creating dangerous possession in hurtful areas that could open up opportunities.
12:59And I just think with Rice and Anderson and then a sort of missing piece in Jude, there is no combination play. Ball progression is really tortured. And if Kane's going to be static at the top of the box, someone's got to combine with them. So to me, it's one of Anderson or Rice. And if you want to say, by the way, it's Anderson because Rice is shattered and you want to save Rice to come on and give you 30 good minutes, like, fine, play Anderson. but then pick as a or you know someone like i'm trying to think who else is in maybe it's a rogers if you want someone just a little bit more all energy but who operates in those areas again though i don't think rogers is rogers is going to give you a little bit of what jude does who wants to tear away play one of the two sixes and let's not use numbers let's just use profiles play one of as a uh pardon me um rice and and and and anderson yeah play a more connective player in Ezza who can get the ball to Jude or to Kane at the top of the box and combine.
13:59And also, by the way, has some end product because as much as I think Elliot Anderson is a decent player, he's not going to score from 20 yards. You know, he's not going to give you that moment of magic. And especially you need that if you're going to persist with Nani because Nani will get on the ball and try to do things, but the things he's going to do are very solo in the, you know what I mean? They're very individualistic. Drive past a guy and put the ball in the box he will not combine so there is a deficit of combination play on the edge of the area and i i just think that dynamic means that england are a little too easy to hold at bay even when they are pushing teams back sorry that's a that's a lot and by the way if clive was on the pot he'd be rolling his eyes out of his head at me i know that clive i love you we have friday night clive tomorrow he can tell me why i'm wrong but i also imagine ben white was playing we had the race dames injury imagine ben was fit well he would probably be playing right and then suddenly that right side no if if you're gonna play anderson rice you know who would be really handy then trent like someone who can replace a little bit of the progression and and danger and combination play that you're not getting from your mid your midfield comedy like and i get it it this always winds up being about player selection but it does feel like the profiles don't compliment each other
15:15Michael Timbs:as well as they could given what was available there yeah and also i don't know whether i'm not an expert strategist or anything so i don't know but i don't know whether what changes need to happen for the next game there needs to be a change i don't know if gordon with his cameo and the fact that he got two assists and actually like it's played well maybe he deserves to start but then he has started previous games and has done zero so maybe he's just more effective as a a reliable substitute who offers something different but i don't think rashford did much to be fair like he wasn't that impressive um i i don't know whether the changes needed for the next game because they do need to change is just like one key player and it will kind of fix things or whether it needs to be like four players it's just i know saka's crocked but you just play him and you play cobi instead of elliot anderson to give us a bit more balance or you play an Eza instead of and then like instead of Jed you play someone I don't know but it's something needs to happen and it's just the way the way we played in that first hour was not was not good enough to to if you can't break down an open team that is as good as that is the of the level of of DR Congo and like they were they were dangerous at times especially in the first half but Mexico are a different beast like that is a different challenge altogether and you can't come at them with that level of attacking play because like we had zero ideas um i know we had the the chances with like a few balls in that like especially jude was getting on the end of them um and some good saves from the keeper but realistically like that was all that we were doing like we weren't creating much it was like well we've tried to attack tried to take on this man hasn't really happened let's just whip a ball in and hope it gets to a man you get some sort of like flick on on and and hope it goes in and if it doesn't well it's like well that's that that's it really we need to do that again because otherwise we're not going to be able to do anything uh yeah it there are a lot of question marks and i don't know who this lies on if it's tutra i don't know um but there are a lot of questions that kind of need to be answered with one the team selection and kind of the tactics that we have in the next game but also just like the level of performance as well because it was it was dour for the for the first 60 minutes it was not not right yeah i mean it sounds like we didn't go through like i'm i'm so happy i'm so happy we're through i'm so relieved but but like england fans i think we're my the two teams like mine mine and yours teams we've both won we've both got through to the next round we are experiencing two very different emotions right now because we have we've got through sort of by the skin of our teeth and we are riddled with PTSD just from like this team.
18:09Michael Timbs:We know what it's like to shoot ourselves in the foot, whereas yours is like making history, making this incredible run, scoring goals, playing free-flowing football. Like it couldn't be any... Well, because our ambition was to get to where we've gotten to. Your ambition is to theoretically win the tournament. So it's different. And to be fair, I mean, I think there is... I will speak for all U.S. men's national team fans as probably one who has followed that team most closely in this country he says lying um i do think there is some regret on in our supporter base as well because of the balligan red and how we're going to replace him in the in the next round but we'll talk about that in a minute yeah so so before we get to the stocks of this game real quick i i want to say because i started my headline with i think they're fine like if you zoom out and you say a team had 40 touches in the opposition box to 11 16 shots to 7 2.16 expected goals to 0.77 and they won 2-1 and they didn't tell you when the goals came or how the game was to experience it with nerves you'd say it sounds like the better team won by the score you'd roughly expect the better team to win by and like i think the final score is a reasonable reflection of the way the game was played and for all the flaws that i see in the england team timsey i do think the game mostly to me as a sort of neutral not totally neutral but felt like inevitable like i kind of was waiting for when england would eventually find it now had wissa scored his chance maybe not but this is the point of football if you get two chances in a game you don't usually score your two chances that's not usually how football works right like if that were the case england would have had six in this game so i don't know is it really as bad as it feels is it as bad as it feels you know yeah no maybe you're through to the next round it's not golf football you know this is this is by the way this is me to all my overly emotional arsenal friends where i'm like i'm good don't worry we're sweet maybe this is my version of it where i i always feel like watching arsenal i've gone through so much emotional trauma in my time that now i can sort of see it for what it is and it's like if we win and we kind of don't play that well it's like it's never really as bad as you think and so I've I've learned to to protect myself and be like try and view it as objectively as possible and then when you watch it back you go yeah we probably were always going to win that but this maybe I'm on the other side of it now with England where I'm not the rational head that I would be for Arsenal and I'm now seeing it maybe overly emotionally and just thinking ah this isn't good enough but i do there is something i don't think the first hour can be ignored as in you i agree that the result is all that matters and on the after the game on the scale of it yeah we deserved it and the stats prove it and maybe i'm putting too much into it but i still think when you are one nil down to this team and even with the chances that created that we created and to go that long without looking really like we're fashioning like good chances to score I think that you still need to take that into consideration of like there is something wrong there I agree like that we showed great determination and we never gave up all that stuff great and I accept that and take it cool but I still think that first 60 minutes just there is something critically wrong in this side at the moment uh that we need to get right for the next round so that's it's all this this fear and anxiety is actually coming from my uh basically predictions of the next game it's like i'm just fearing the emotions that i'm going to feel um on on monday or sunday yeah and i get that and like there's a part of me to just comfort me i feel Look, if I were an England supporter, I would have been absolutely biting through my nails and my cuticles and probably the first knuckle of my finger as well.
22:20But like, the other thing, there's an entitlement question here too, which is England are good. They're a team that could go deep in the tournament and could go to a final. And if everything broke right, could win it. But like, they don't have Mbappe. They have Kane. Okay, he's very good. They certainly don't have Dembele on the right and Barclough or Douay on the left. they have Gordon and and freaking Nani Madoike because sack is broken but the biggest thing for me because you could say well oh you hate the double pivot but France have a double pivot they do they play Rabiot and Chiumeni but you know who they have sitting between the lines stitching it all together Michael fucking Ole say okay and Jude Bellingham wants to run off and get in the box and
22:58Michael Timbs:that's not a knock on Jude but you need that guy no so maybe maybe that is the maybe that is the the the key there is I I agree with that France team you look at their midfield and you're going what Choumeni and Rabiot that's not exactly you know world beating even though they are in their own right very very good but they don't need to do too much they need to do what they're good at and that's it because because they have the best player in the world in front of them yeah so maybe that is what's thinking like a maybe a more natural 10 what I would say is that Jude Jude is good for us and maybe it's not what we need but when the team isn't playing well I do like that we can rely on his not just work rate but quality and he does just get about and i don't know like timothy i think he's he's arguably your best player and most important but like let's set kane aside for me like yeah my point isn't anti-jude it's that if you want to play jude and kane you have a big midfield issue to me yeah from a ball progression and chance creation standpoint especially if you're going to play wide players that don't come inside and combine there's a reason that i think it looked more natural when sackett came on too because the touches are just cleaner the combination is slicker it's it's more refined like if you're going to tear away wingers and a tear away 10 and a and a you know basically a a guy who stands stands rooted to the to the top of the box like i don't know what anderson and rice are supposed to yeah what i would what i would say is one it kind of shows how important like having a reliable winger is when we had the era even of like raheem sterling city's raheem sterling that played for england was so reliable great output and just like knew how to play that position linked up really well with kane assisted plenty scored plenty now that we don't have a reliable left winger and then on the right number two I would say how I fear how crocked Bucaio actually is for him not to play more than like 30 minutes because like every every England fan knows every Arsenal fan knows Tuchel knows how good he is he is our guy at the right wing so to see the the difference that with a player you get like Madweke when he plays and I thought he did okay in terms of like taking people on it's just he's so unreliable with you don't know what he's going to do you don't know whether he's going to cut in he's just going to recycle the ball you don't know whether he's going to just take it on his left foot and whip a good ball in and to be fair he did whip in one or two very good crosses or he's going to take him down the line whereas when you have someone like Saka where the the quality of what he does is so consistent and reliable that it's so much easier to play with um so for us to have that and not use him it doesn't in my head i'm like i'm so scared for what's gonna come for like pre-season and the start of the season because he must he must be running on empty and just be nursing his his achilles so so badly um yeah i mean like the number of crosses yeah like it was and poor crosses as well oh well i mean yeah all right to be that england fan no it's more just no no i need to get past they were poor first hour yeah well okay so so let's get to the stocks because we're gonna go an hour 20 here if we don't start to to push forward a little bit but but i think i think we've diagnosed what's wrong with england i think we fixed it i'm pretty sure we fixed it so that's good i feel good about that there are no more question marks yeah absolutely the other thing i find and and this you know i don't want to speak for the listener but i think for any england fans listening who woke up today trying to figure out what they think about that performance and that result they were probably thinking like i wish an american would tell me what to think about it so i'm glad i'm glad i had the chance to do that because i'm sure that's what i think okay um uh i just american-splained football to the english uh okay can we can we do some stocks do we want to just quickly you know what i'll do the first one i'll do the first one and and it is of course the nord mvp of the day okay i mean it has to be the nord mvp of the day is my first stock rising my stock rising is the nord mvp play of the day what am i trying to say oh that's right that nord is an all-in-one security app you put it on your phone your tablet your pc your mac whatever you click and you can browse where you want to browse which means you can take advantage of the services that you already paid for anyway but that you can't access when you're in certain places like that's not fair you pay good money for that so now when you go here you can watch there when you go there you can watch here when there's a social media video that says you can't watch it you can watch it and you're able to see the stuff you want to see from where you are you're also going to get threat protection which you should have on the internet and a little bit of privacy so that you can't be tracked around the internet which helps with like scams and advertising you're going to get a huge discount off your Nord plane for bonus months which is a lot of months it's uh four of them yeah it's great value thank you timsey thanks for the assist there uh and oh by the way you're going to get a 30-day risk-free opportunity money back guarantee so go to nordvpn.com slash arsenal vision that's nordvpn.com slash arsenal vision what's that link you asked i just told you how can you not remember it's nordvpn.com slash arsenal vision do it now my stock rising and the MVP of the day is Harry Kane.
28:30I have to say, right, like, there are times when I watch Harry Kane and I think, is this guy good enough to have him out there with the limitations in his game? But like, and this is why you tune in to shows like this for this kind of insight. Scoring goals is very important in football. Yes. And Harry Kane, for all the things he will not do, will score goals. And back to our original conversation, like if you're going to play with Harry Kane, one of the things you have to acknowledge is there will be things about your game that don't work, but you will get goals that you didn't see coming or that other players wouldn't get.
29:08And that is a trade-off you take because goals are the most important thing in football. And if you haven't watched it yet, Thierry on reanalyzing Harry Kane's second goal is a great watch. And he's just talking about how hard it is to wrap your foot around that ball at that angle with the torque on your knee while you're sort of at the angle to the ground you have to be at without losing your footing, without falling over. Billy Carpenter did a couple of good posts about the way Kane is able to compress and fold his body to stay over shots is why he's such a great goal scorer. Because usually what happens is as you try to take those shots from those angles, you fall away.
29:44But he's able to bend over and stay compressed. And the shot is sensational. And so Harry Kane, I don't know that I love your football all the time, mate. and I certainly don't love you all the time, but there's no denying the way he scores goals is incredibly special and important in England. So kudos to him. Yes, I would say retweet, retweet.
30:06Michael Timbs:Thank you, Gunners. That was exactly right. I would also say that I like that he's not coming deep anymore because there were a few times, I think at the beginning of the tournament and definitely in the friendlies before the World Cup where he was doing that come deep thing when we're kind of struggling to create. And as much as it works for Bayern Munich and that he can do that because he's such a good footballer, I just don't think it works for England. It's like, just stay up there. We're going to give you something. And if not, you're going to fashion your own thing, which he did for the second goal.
30:42Michael Timbs:But I do agree. Like it is actually remarkable just what you can achieve when you have one truly world-class best striker of all time for the country player up there who just knows how to score because we've had players like him before I mean Wayne Rooney was a joke how good he was and had his moments for England but maybe we were kind of cursed with the fact that we had too many talented players even though that's just not a thing but in that era we we had maybe Wayne as that one guy who's like you can get us a goal and you can inspire us but like now it is so clearly harry kane and only harry kane that can do that where and i think he invites that sort of level of pressure and that demand and he just delivers it's ridiculous like his his goal strong record is crazy and he just doesn't need much which is maybe that is absolutely key for going deep in this tournament that you just need someone who when he gets a sniff he will just get it on target and he'll probably score um however he does it so yeah he's i mean if his stock could rise anymore it's obviously risen but my my stock rising yeah and i i did berate him and thought he was terrible because he was terrible i will stick with that but fair dues anthony gordon um yep he was not good when he started uh for the games he did start for england uh but now coming off the bench and I think that's just his maybe that's just his say his level that's what he is maybe more comfortable with and I'm more comfortable with watching I don't like the idea of him starting because I don't think he's really good enough not that Rashford is also good enough in his current kind of form but I like the idea of Anthony Gordon coming on and affecting the game because maybe when legs are a little bit heavier yeah we're lacking for ideas he does offers something a little bit different it might not always be good it might not always be it's ideally how you'd want to use nonny too isn't it right like ideally exactly and that's what he would that's how we use him like this is the thing yeah a lot of the the the my mates who were watching in a pub yesterday and they were saying how do you deal how do you deal with nonny week in week out and i told them it's like we deal with it because you don't have to deal with him week in week out because he doesn't really play that much like he has he had periods where he played and he started and Saka was in and out of the team because he was injuries and stuff and he played he had one awful game and then he'd have one game against was it standard Liège where he would you know score some great goals and and do good things but the truth is we don't really have to deal with him that much because his his role is the substitute that offers something maybe a little bit more direct and just a bit less predictable and so it kind of changes the rhythm up for us which maybe frees everyone else up on the rest of the pitch so um that's the truth like yeah i i think that's what the anthony gordon role that he had yesterday is what ideally we'd have for nonny but evidently sack is too injured for for him to do that so um but to finally reboot back um yeah fair place to anthony gordon like he was very very effective when he came on was the the did make a difference because he just played in a in a different way to Rashford Rashford was I mean I think like not not good he was a bit all over the shop and just quite clumsy like some relatively poor balls in there was one or two good balls in but for the most part just didn't really offer us much and he had one really good chance didn't he that he hit maybe too close to the keeper a little bit yeah so that that was that was obviously the the the only very good thing he did but even then like he did the hard bit which was obviously cut inside beat a man cut outside drag it onto his left foot and then the finish was just like terrible like bearing in mind he's got two very good feet and the with his left foot you would expect him to at least get it on target and like there was there was a gap at the near post there was a gap at the far post you just don't hit it in the side netting you know um yeah but apart from that he didn't really do much and Anthony Gordon at least obviously did get the assists but uh yeah so I have to give him his dues like he deserves some level of praise and his stock has risen because it fell a lot over the last two weeks yep um all right let's do quick quick stock fallings from this game because we're way into it now we have two other games to cover these yep please go Conza done next yeah look I agree and you could probably say the entire back line so my and by the way for a stock rising we didn't get to him but i just want to mention declan rice i put a social post out that sums up how i feel about declan rice which is and the social post was you don't like that deck i think he's decent it's not that declan rice is a is good at right back it's that declan rice is better at whatever position he plays than whoever else plays it right like you can just put him wherever you want he's going to be really good there because he's really good at football okay my stock falling is the selection of the squad and it always comes down to this with England doesn't it um and it's not because I think you got it wrong per se but let me just say this okay as much fun as it is for Bantz that Cole Palmer and Foden aren't there yes one of them probably should be um Trent should be there and the problem is I don't mind the squad he picked if you could just magically wave a wand and say everyone's fit but you had to know going in that you would not be able to get much out of Saka.
36:07That was widely reported. And you had to know that Reese James has made a glass and he's not going to survive a tournament. And at the point that you are relying on Jed Spence to win you a World Cup, you're dead. The back line isn't great. You're lacking in connectivity and creativity because you've not got Saka in there because you don't have, you know, Cole Palmer, who whatever I think of him can get into those spaces between the lines more effectively. You know, you probably could play Foden off the left if you had to or off the right and he's going to be better than nani and like the problem with nani madweke is on display now for everyone to see which is he flatters to deceive just way too much he can beat a man he can get to where he is but when your delivery is consistently that poor what it actually does is kill attacks because if you look at the bulk of nani's possessions what happens is he gets the ball and instead of maintaining dangerous deep possession that puts the opposition under threat.
37:02He races to a position and spams in a cross that's usually not good and is easily cleared. And that cleared cross can lead to a counter or it can lead to a change of possession and it ends the dangerous possession. If you look at what Saka does, Saka's next action is always some kind of combination, some kind of involvement that further amps up the danger and the threat to the opposition. And, you know, look, I want to love Nani and I know there are people listening that do, but I think no matter how dangerous it looks when you're beating a man if your last action is poor and it allows the opposition to get a respite from the danger they've been under you've actually undermined your team and i so for me yeah with a not fit saka and a reese james who can't stay fit and a lack of sort of creative options in the squad especially if you don't want to use ezza that much i think the the mix is wrong trent at least should be there and probably one of foden or or palmer i think the key differences as well
37:57Michael Timbs:even just touching on nonny there like for england it doesn't quite work because as you've fully explained i think why it it works in the way it does for us for arsenal is that he comes on and he can he can play within a system that is very well established and he just offers something different to buccayo but also the reason why he comes on is because our game is all about control and like our level of control of the game just suffocating the the opposition we don't do that for england like we can't we we we haven't got enough time to properly develop a system to be able to know how to play and have this kind of setup for for arsenal where where we come undone a little bit is like just overly possession not even possession based but just overly focusing on like just controlling the game controlling the rhythm and just suffocating them but then when there are banks of four that we have to uh attack against and we're kind of trying to find and we're just not quite fashioning the right chances to whip a good crossing or whatever then bringing on someone like nonny it's not really going to affect our control of the game because the rest of the the team is so well established and knows their role so well that it is just purely beneficial of like we're just changing it up changing the way like what you can expect on the right hand side and like even if that means you're gonna have three times when he loses possession it doesn't really matter because we control the rest of the game anyway so he can afford to do that and then it might just give us one better chance than we would have if for example bukaya was still keeping or whatever because he just takes on a man sclaps in across somewhere random and it's just like a bit of unpredictability in a very predictable controlled environment but it just that doesn't quite marry up with england when it's like we don't kind of we don't really know how we want to play or attack and then plus you have a guy who maybe doesn't even know how he wants to attack and cross a ball in you know it's it just doesn't it doesn't work no and you know i mean you've got spence and nani on the right like what are we doing here yeah uh okay i mean it's fun in the same way it's fun for me to watch my you know my golden retriever like have the time of his life playing outside but it doesn't come to much um okay i have to clean you in the bath later that is where we're living right now a lot of mud uh okay let's let's get to the u.s game uh and we're not going to spend 39 minutes on it Thank you.
40:34Okay, what's your headline from the US to Bosnia-Herzegovina?
40:38Michael Timbs:It's going to follow on from yesterday's take, which was, this is great. You should all be super happy. I'm very proud of you. And if it doesn't go any further, you should still be very proud. It's, again, where we were talking about where the USA's par is. Amazing stuff. Bosnia, they were terrible. They're terrible. All respect to Dzeko. He's still playing. he's not going to be the biggest threat um but you're still playing the same way it's fun to watch it's exciting you won 2-0 you kept a clean sheet obviously we'll get onto the Balogun thing it's a massive massive miss for the next game but like this is this is what I was talking about this is what it's all about for the US I saw all the videos of like the US fans celebrating in every city all over the US like this is it this is the moments you needed to like fully catch World Cup fever and for the US as a whole to realize like yes now you're in a World Cup this is how it feels and I'm very happy for you guys to experience that thank you did you think it was a red no absolutely obviously not like this is this is okay well let's move on to the next point ridiculous look oh I hate VAR simultaneously I love VAR because when it works for us it's great however however it's only when there's like a serious error right this is what they always say it's like well VAR is only to if there's been a serious uh misjudgment or like an error on the ref's behalf there was no error there because like it was such a uh innocuous it wasn't even a challenge it was such an innocuous coming together where you have two players looking at the ball running towards the ball and it just so happens that where Balogun wants to plant his foot the guy's legs there and so like how's Balogun supposed to know unless he's like looking at the player and then if you VAR it because he's like well there's there might be some dangerous foul play sure but it wasn't dangerous foul play it was like just a natural clash it's a contact sport so I feel he was so so hard done by of course the slow-mo replays make it look far worse than it actually is and yeah I feel really really bad for him and he's just gonna be a huge miss like I think it was a terrible decision ridiculous to even go to var ridiculous that it's a red card uh and i feel i feel quite bad for you guys because he's he's a huge miss you see this with var sometimes and look in general i'm still probably pro var but where the context is lost by a super slow motion replay right it's kind of like when someone posts a still screenshot that shows studs on an ankle and then like yeah when you see the video you actually see that someone like slipped and fell and was falling into that like the context is important right it's like when someone posts a picture of somebody scowling and they're like oh he looks so angry and it's like he had actually just sneezed like the the this is a coming together going for a ball in the air and he's putting his legs out to land and he lands on what are you what are you supposed to do then I don't know and he's sort of trying to I think he thinks he's going to be able to play the ball and he's just not anyway here's what I say it's a terrible looking challenge the Bosnian player is clearly badly impacted by it and if he had been going into a challenge that way then you're in this sort of reckless there was no challenge to be had anyway endangering your opposition it was so silly it's not there to be had this is the bad thing I sort of understand if you actually just look at it and a pure that replay yeah it looks horrendous but you as you say you totally lose the context of what was happening in the same way that like I think you had it one of them in the first half like uh those replays for penalties and it's like oh someone's gone down let's see if there was contact and like it wasn't a penalty but you're trying to look at contact and you're like slowing it down so much to just go on like well has his foot just brushed the other guy's shin and it's like well sure there might be you might be able to now see contact because there's a var review but like in real time there's there's nothing there there's nothing there it's also been a let them play world cup like messi didn't see red everybody's pointing that out messi didn't see like yeah they're they're airing on the side of letting them play which i prefer and i think the international game has been worse don't whisper yeah well don't put don't put your hand over your mouth um actually i can't believe we did the england game for 40 minutes i didn't even ask you do you have the cane one as a penalty no no obviously it's so hairy cane right he's he's going down before the contact is there contact yes but he's gone down before it it's he's been doing this for years it's one of those ones where like it could be given but equally if that was given against us you're going there is no way everyone knows that's not a natural thing blah blah in the pub in the moment surrounded by 100 fucking crazy english fans i was going oh it's got to be a penalty whereas in my head i'm going that's just not a penalty it's just not uh so yeah of course not anyway uh your one was also not but anyway yeah it's a yeah yep okay we let's play world cup my headline for the u.s is simply i'm having fun maybe for the first time like even when the u.s has been well even when the u.s has has made a little run in a world cup right or or been a little bit interesting for the most part we've been the team that didn't play very well we got played defensively tried to break away and get a goal or you know we were really physical and and tried to win a game you know the last time we faced belgium in a world cup obviously they had the 30 shots or whatever it was and tim howard had to go nuts to keep us in it till late but this is a team that plays on the front foot that's direct and quick the tempo is so high we're playing up tempo we're getting we're trying to progress the ball some of the back heels in the box to create chances some of the one touch passes to the next man in the in the midfield weston mckinney's been great um yeah tyler adams has been great you know pulisic is is bright and and probably our most dangerous tackle player but baligan before he got sent off was sensational in this game and unlucky not to have another goal he's been sensational the way he took his offside goal was brilliant i mean gives the keeper the eyes and goes near post He obviously got lucky for the first, but equally, you need to finish them.
47:05Michael Timbs:And it's kind of what we've seen in the... Obviously, he didn't quite do it for Arsenal, but the reason why we wanted to play him in that period where we're crying out for someone other than Eddie was because we'd seen videos of him and he'd showed when he'd been on loan and everything, this guy, he can finish. He can just find a way of finishing. And when he does have the ball with a sight on goal, like he he does well he like he puts it away so he's been he's been great he's obviously going to be such a big miss for the next game especially you know Belgium can definitely be beaten um uh but he would be a key part of that but I would agree like the the rest of your team has been so good like McKinney he's not my favorite person but uh but he's been very very good we haven't really played anyone but we i think we've looked good in like who's the team other than france who's and maybe argentino who's the team that you'd say in the games i've watched they've looked better than the u.s right we haven't played anyone i mean we've looked good in our games this is this is where it gets a bit crazy but yeah i agree you've you've actually looked good in like that's all i'm saying all of your funds you've you've played well and you've been like good value where you've played how you wanted to play there hasn't been a moment where you're like uh it's not quite work and we're gonna have to resort to something else like you've just played the way that pochettino wants you to play it's been effective you've also kind of like you've adapted well i think to different teams where you found the spaces like you even even yesterday there was so all this morning like you there were so many pockets of spaces that you just managed to figure out and find because it's quite a fluid team you've got um he's using mckinney and tillman really intelligently to like run beyond the the the defensive line and yeah the the wingers like overlaps and just yes yes really good um okay well why don't you give me your uh well done yeah well look i'm not sitting here trying to be like we're gonna win the tournament i'm just saying this is the first time in my lifetime i could say i when i watch the u.s play in the in these games we're the better team that's fun and not just the better team because we're physical or defensive of where like i'm in i'll say this right i'm enjoying the football i'm being treated to and that has never really been the case the soccer has been incredible it's it's good soccer y 'all like really good soccer y 'all and and if there is any justice sorry to all the belgian fans but i really hope you beat belgium if there's any justice well there's i mean they beat us what five They beat us 5-2 in March.
49:45So a little worrying, but this is different. This is different home soil, baby. That's right. Okay, who's your stock rising from this game?
49:53Michael Timbs:Stock rising, I would go Ballo, but the red card kind of mars it. Red card mars it a little bit. He still deserves it, I think. Okay, fine. Well, in which case, yes, Ballo. He's been so consistent throughout the World Cup for you guys as your outlet. He's been very, even though he's netted a lot of goals and been your guy to score, he's been very unselfish with the way he's played he's been done a lot of selfless running in order to honestly like if we sell gabby jesus we're going to need someone so um but yeah yeah he's he's he's done a lot of running to open up space this is this is the thing that i find super impressive and fair play to pochettino who maybe also has risen his stock like he's it's not that just ballo has obviously got instructions of like this is how i want you to play score your goals be out and around the box fine but also you need to make these runs in order for this system to work but then he's also made sure that he's not just doing it for no reason like there are runners off um whether that's the midfielders or if it's that the the wing is inverting and but you know he's he's made sure that everyone is playing their role in this system and so uh yeah ballo's been super effective uh up top and i think he's yeah he's again he might get off the back of this he he could get a decent move.
51:12I think I, I'm going to give you my stock rising and it's one of those. I'm sorry. I was not familiar with your game situations. That's Malik Tillman. Like he's been absolutely fantastic. He, I thought the run up was very,
51:25Michael Timbs:uh, very straight. I was a bit worried. I was like, what are you going to do here? And then I was like, Oh, hands up. Catastrophic goalkeeping. Let's let's, and like Bosnia were horrible, horrible, terrible, terrible, They were terrible. And they're probably one of the worst teams to have made it to the next round in this entire tournament. They barely made it into the tournament to begin with. They knocked out Italy. But like Tillman has been so important to the way we arrest defense and the way we recover. He's got to get up the pitch to overlap. He's got to get back to break up counters. He's stringing everything together.
52:03He's playing with real courage. He plays for Leverkusen. I haven't really followed his career that closely. he wasn't Bayern for a while like Bayern 2 and Bayern on you know we didn't really play much for Bayern but then went to PSV and now he's at Bayern Leverkusen and like kudos to him man he's he's been fan fantastic
52:24Michael Timbs:this is the this is what we're saying like I think it was after the Mexico game we're like this is this is the fun thing about a World Cup is that you get to I think Rory Smith again because I love Rory Smith he said the same thing he's like this is what the World cups are increasingly missing what we used to have when we were younger and there wasn't as there weren't just compilations of of every player in the world and scouting reports it's like the joy of a world cup was that you would play countries and you wouldn't know any of their players bar one discover plays in the league so you would literally discover them because like who is this guy who's running it for this team never heard of him he plays for this random team oh my god someone should sign it and becomes your next favorite player like the the world cups are missing that now because everyone's so well known so then when someone like Tillman comes along who I'm sure people would still know about but like I didn't really know and and puts on a performance like that and is that crucial to like the US making a run like this it's amazing because you're like yes this is again the same thing uh Mora for for Mexico I had no idea and then suddenly I'm like this little whiz kid who's just like running was linked to Arsenal today and was Yeah, those sorts of moments of those players, it's a lot of fun to them being exposed to you for the first time and you can just be like, yes, this is what it's about.
53:44Michael Timbs:Quick stock followings from this game. I think there's just two, probably one sentence ones we can say. VAR, terrible. You've ruined. If you go out in the next round, there's always going to be that question of like, what if Valogun was playing? You might create chances and you might lose 2-1 and you could have easily scored three or four, you're suddenly thinking, Balogun was playing, we're definitely going through because his Belgium team is so average. And that's never nice to go out like that. Obviously, you haven't got out yet. I'll be very, very curious to see if he goes with Riccardo Pepe or if he tries to do something like bringing Pulisic into...
54:22Yeah, Pepe. He plays for... Riccardo Pepe plays for Eindhoven. PSV, yeah.
54:28Michael Timbs:Okay, so you're thinking Pulisic number nine, yeah? Pulisic number nine yeah you could bring Gio Reyna in I mean you could bring in I don't know someone to play out wide instead of Pulisic like Brendan Aronson or Timothy Weah actually I think could play out there you know I mean I don't know but like he's probably just going to play Ricardo Pepe and leave everything else alone but yep um big mess and a lot of Americans saying they should challenge the red they can't challenge the red okay my stock falling um yes i'll i'll stick with it it's just bosnia they were bad uh it gives me no pleasure to say it and you know no offense to bosnia and hertse govna but like they're really bad they played really bad um by the way like there's no right to expect them to play better i i don't know why we're i'm stock following them because they made it to the world cup which was a huge accomplishment they made it out of the group phase which is a huge accomplishment they just didn't show much in this game so stocks are stocks baby we need to give them to someone that's right you know you don't say hey the company got listed in the first place so that's great news to them no if their stock gets delisted it gets delisted okay let's quickly run through another stunner of a game belgium 2-0 down to a much better senegal team and then just pull it out of the fire senegal collapse and it must have been deja vu by the way because my headline for this game is he should have pulled the players off the pitch isn't that the move isn't that the movie he had it all set up again a sort of dodgy penalty late in the game of a knockout game for those who don't know senegal played morocco in the afcon final um they had a goal disallowed because of a wrong whistle and then they had a penalty given against them they pulled their players off the pitch for 17 minutes they came back on the pitch they won the tournament and then the in the courts they had it stripped away from them uh in this game after the fact yep in this game it was a it was a i think uh oh it's the kind of penalty that usually isn't given the ball's gone already there's a bit of contact but yeah i think the ball's already gone um they did not leave the pitch though but uh senegal much the better team in my mind and i'm sad to see them go out because i i i was enjoying them and I now will have to watch Belgium somehow get to a to a quarterfinal yeah I mean like regardless I think either of those teams they're tricky you probably would have preferred Belgium in a weird way because they'd been less impressive like they're they're or I definitely have like less potential because they're just not that good but I mean but then you look at their team you like with de Bruyne and everyone and Tielemans and Lukaku weirdly still kind of scoring it's a bit weird um what I would say is yeah Senegal probably had a thought when the penalty was given there was probably like a few looks around at each other going we could do it again you know we could just march off the pitch and just because that is outrageous I do think it was a penalty though i get that a ball was kind of away but i think when you kind of when you go for it and you go through the back of someone you always run that risk and it's that is more of that is miles more of a penalty than balagans was a red card for example um so you know i think if you're going to give one you give the other uh and i'm sure that's how that works in football is that everything evens out but uh yeah unbelievable game again three like very fun games to watch i think the only the only semi-boring game we've had in the knockout so far is the canada south africa one and that was still kind of scenes with like the the golden towards the end um but it's been electric so far um and yeah it was it was a really fun game to watch i actually watched it and Belgium were terrible to start with.
58:26Michael Timbs:It's made of Saar just tearing them to shreds. Their second goal, Saar's first and only goal, was unbelievable and they looked well on their way really. I don't think Belgium really threatened and they basically looked dead and buried to be honest. There was nothing really that was suggesting that they were going to come back into it and then just to be able to get that goal out of nowhere with five minutes to go just changed everything it's incredible what momentum can do because they were 10 seconds before that they are going out just limping out and just had nothing going for them but to be able to get that goal it just yeah changed everything and then they actually like is where they just started to just play again and the Senegal's on their back foot Belgium suddenly just finding ways of creating chances and lumping it in there and Leo obviously got the assist I think it was for for Tielemann's equalizer um yeah and which was kind of a a very good header but also a horrific decision from the keeper to come out for that and and not claim it uh very weird but yeah after that you could kind of see how it was going to go maybe not exactly how it went because it was a last minute penalty in extra time.
59:48But yeah, I think after all was said and done,
59:53Michael Timbs:Belgium, I would say, probably edged it just because after they scored their first goal, they were the better team. But yeah, for so long, they weren't looking good. But it was a fun game. I really enjoyed it. It was good. Yeah, I mean, if you're winning 2-0 in 85 minutes, oh, you'll be fuming. you won't sleep for a long time no to crash out and to crash out to a 50 50 penalty and 120 plus five now granted it's 120 plus five because of the var check but like i mean that that is well yeah you gotta stay hydrated um that is a hydration break in extra time they know did they no no that's coming that's coming oh yeah um so anyway yeah look it's uh it's a bad one for for Senegal and Belgium get through.
1:00:41And look, you do run the risk of being too much. Like Belgium stink and Senegal. Like if you lose the game after you're up 2-0 after 85 minutes, you did something wrong. But I just, Belgium looked so listless and lifeless and the quality was reported. Like de Ketteler was terrible, terrible, terrible. All right, look, I could go on and on. Pick your stock rising from this game.
1:01:02Michael Timbs:Stock rising, I'll go. I mean, one of maybe the only stock risings from that is Uri Tielemans. I thought Leo was really good though. I thought Leo was their one player. And they fought each other. Did you see that? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Leo and Tillman. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I didn't know what that was about. I saw that as well. And I was like, oh, okay. They're just having a little. Leo's just angry. That's who he is. He's angry. He's always angry. But then it continued for like maybe five seconds too long. And I was like, oh, they're actually in an argument. Okay, cool. But Yuri, like we know, he's a great player.
1:01:37We were very interested once upon a time.
1:01:39Michael Timbs:I think most people would have been very happy to have him in our team. The fact that he just basically dragged the team to that win by himself with his quality, but also just that he had no right to win that header and then also winning the penalty and then scoring the penalty. It was a ridiculously good penalty as well. His stock has risen for sure. He's a great player. fair dues to to yuri taylomans and uh yeah i think every team could do with a yuri yeah uh my stock rising i'm gonna pick by the way i think leo was really good and probably could get one but i'm gonna go with this mylessar like he's been brilliant in this tournament he was brilliant in this game he hit the woodwork twice yeah i mean could have really buried this one 1.6 xg in this game i mean he's not gonna sleep very well yeah just for just for him um i mean just to put it in perspective by the way the xg in this game was 3.58 to senegal to 1.74 to belgium remember of that 1.74 0.8 of it is the penalty so less than one xg for belgium non-penalty and 3.58 to senegal like i said they had six big chances they missed four of them they're not going to sleep well tonight but sar sar is a player and uh and i've enjoyed watching him at this tournament let's um let's hit the stocks falling from this game he's gonna move he must he must be on the way actually maybe maybe they keep him for another year but he's he could go to somewhere quite he's 28 so it's like you know his big move might yeah i mean i don't know uh it's the bruno grimoire yeah but spurs should buy him for 200 million just every next player they buy they should just add 50 million and go and then and then they get deducted 15 points because their FFP is all out of whack.

1:03:37Yeah, they breached SCR by like 500%. Yeah, it's about time. Okay, stock falling.
1:03:45Michael Timbs:Stock falling, oh, from that, I feel bad for giving it to Senegal or any... Well, the keeper, I mean, he... More idea. Yeah, just to make that error, because it is an error in the last minute, is horrendous when it's just like just keep it tight man like you deserve to go through in the regulation time like you've you've put in enough you've put in enough of a performance to to go through just like don't do anything stupid lads and then cue the goalkeeper doing something completely stupid um yeah maybe him but even then i do feel bad like it's yeah it's to see them go like that is not nice so i'll go a shy stock falling for the goalkeeper yeah and i the only thing i will say is that the tealman's penalty was insanely good you're not saving that that was ridiculous um so i've got three stock falling candidates the two that i was pretty close to giving it to is to kettle air who put one of the worst halves of football on display that i've ever seen and doku who was really bad but i'm gonna give it to kevin de bruyne mate leave the game before the game leaves you this guy is dunzo like all and i realize he's about to score a hat-trick against the u.s uh i like post de bruyne is one of the best players i've ever seen in the premier league but he also caused just a lot of pain and so i you know i i've got no affection for him but like he is donezo he is he's done like he does not he cannot run the way he used to run he one of the things he used to be able to do is be running at full speed with the ball and either strike it or pass it perfectly at like full pace and now he just his his passing range is limited his yeah i mean he he created almost almost nothing in this game he created one chance worth.03 expected goals.
1:05:47He took two wildly speculative shots worth.05 XG from distance. He completed 75 % of his passes. Who would have thought? He's done. He's done, though.
1:06:00Michael Timbs:Who would have thought two years ago, three years ago, that he would be done earlier than Lukaku would be done? Because Lukaku still about is very odd. yeah i don't know i i mean maybe this is what's interesting about like age curves right is like people presume for example that the players that don't rely on like don't rely on pace so they'll be what you don't know is when a guy loses half a step how does that change the way they play because you say like why would getting older change his ability to play a pass well if you can't get to the spot yeah that way they see the game i i am i realized by the way that he's scoring a hat trick against the U.S.
1:06:43because I've done this. And so all the people rooting for the U.S., I'm sorry. But it'll be an interesting one because he just isn't at it physically anymore and he's going to be playing in a part of the pitch where, like, the U.S. are going to press and Belgium scored five goals against the U.S. the last time we played them and, like, you can counter on us if you're good at it. I almost wonder if Onana, like Amadou Onana, will start that game against the U.S. to try to bring some physicality in against that press because i do think that if you're trying to play telemans and you know who's great but i think physically has some limitations and then kevin de bruyne who can't run anymore i don't know we'll see um we got to leave it there we've gone very long yeah de bruyne i do think i do think uh
1:07:27Michael Timbs:you are the favorites by the way i i think you you should win i'd be curious i mean if baligan you are a better side than belgium let's see u.s belgium odds i wonder what the bookmakers have it as i think um yeah you are you are a better side uh it looks like belgium are favorites bearing in mind then you if you do get past them which will be incredible and then that's your vision of where the u.s should be happy you then play portugal or spain probably and then yeah that might be that might be done it looks like we're slight favorites is that right this is what i'm saying this is what i'm saying i think i i think you and rightly so who has been the you were just saying 10 minutes ago who aside from france and argentina have looked the best has been the best value has looked consistently good going forward it's the u.s it's the u.s believe in your country man yeah i mean that that surprises me again just because of just because of the availability but if we if we know anything about the bookmakers is that they are never wrong it's very very close i mean mathematically well yeah ethically and by the way like the odds market is also based on action and like there may just be a lot of action on the u.s from not particularly bright americans who are feeling patriotic you know i'm gonna stick a bit on why not oh god here we go yeah i don't know let's let's let's end this segment it's not my favorite but uh we we got we got to knock it on the head there i think um i think it was a very fun day and hopefully a fun day today we're not going to do the look ahead because we've gone too long but i will simply let you know that portugal play croatia spain play austria and switzerland play algeria so in portugal and spain games two teams that are fancied and will be expected to show up and win comfortably switzerland algeria i think the swiss are the slightly better team but that one is a bit more of a toss-up and i'll be curious to see it that'll be fun it is um it is going to be a bit late for you timsey so i expect you'll be looking at the highlights in the morning not watching it at 4 a.m your time so yeah 4 a.m what is that how how am i supposed to who at least you can watch laminia mall before that okay By the way, the poor Swiss and the poor Algerians.
1:09:49Michael Timbs:No way that any of them are watching that game. Sorry, that's a good... Well, I'm going to go out on a limb and say 5 a.m. for them, they'll watch that game. Oh, Algerians. You can get them for 5. Swiss won't, Algerians probably. Swiss, 5 a.m. for Switzerland, 5 a.m. for Algeria, right? Yeah. Roughly, 4 a.m. I think so. I don't know. You know what?
