Guests

Michael “Timsy” (co-host; based in New York; leads the “headline” segment) and Elliot (co-host; hosts the discussion and adds commentary). No other guests are named.

Key claims

  • Mexico’s opening win felt like the World Cup “arriving,” highlighted by Raul Jimenez scoring and emotional scenes.
  • FIFA refereeing/VAR decisions in the Mexico vs South Africa match were controversial; one South Africa red for violent conduct/loss of composure is criticized, while other calls are debated.
  • South Korea looked best on the ball vs Czechia, with Lee Kang-in pivotal in the comeback.
  • Broadcast and scheduling issues: Fox coverage criticized for ad breaks during play/hydration breaks; long gaps between matches make the tournament feel slow to “start.”

Notable examples

  • Shakira and Salma Hayek at the opening ceremony.
  • Mexico fans in LA/Koreatown watch parties; “MVP” to global fan scenes.
  • Lee Kang-in linked with Atletico Madrid; praised as best player on pitch.

0:25And finally we've reached that moment. That moment everybody reaches at the start of a major international tournament. Why the hell have we decided to do a World Cup Daily? This is the Arsenal Vision Post-Match Podcast World Cup Daily. Welcome, everybody. That's right. It's that old feeling when a major tournament kicks off where you think, why have we committed to this? Well, you know what? We've committed to it because you want it. Because you want a place to hear about the World Cup for people who are, A, not particularly knowledgeable on the topic. B, trying desperately to figure out how to shoehorn it into an Arsenal angle.

0:57And C, most importantly, because it just shows up on the feed you already subscribed to and doing anything else would be a pain in the ass. So thank you for making the effort to stay with us. As you note, there was an Arsenal Vision podcast that came out just recently. So you see that we're still doing everything. The Morgan Rogers scouting video is up and it is, oh, it is like angels singing and playing harps and fluttering their wings. I suggest you go check it out. We will have the Junior Kruppi scouting video coming up soon. and if you've never checked one of those out saliba 50s code if you want to go to our patreon and check that out okay enough of that it's time for this the man who really is the the leader our dear leader of this podcast and that is michael tim so timsey hello hello elliot how are you yeah i'm good man so for people don't know we're gonna do this in the headline stock rising stock falling uh structure and you say what is that structure that is our instant reaction structure from the regular season when we do stuff during, you know, during the club football season.

1:55So I think it's a nice structure for stuff like this. We are not attempting to deep dive into every game. I mean, there are only two games, so we'll probably get to most of the stuff. But the goal isn't a deep dive. The goal is to get you up to date with the stuff that really mattered and was interesting. Stock rising, stock fallings don't have to be players. They can be themes. They can be maybe referees, more on that and on, maybe broadcasters, more on that and on. They can be whatever we deem appropriate. There'll be a cavalcade of Arsenal familiar voices that join in and help out with this show over the course of the tournament.

2:24And all kidding aside, you know how much I love you guys listening. You know how much you guys and gals, I should say, you people in our community mean to us. I know this is a bit of silliness and a bit of fun, but thanks for just continuing to share your ride around football with us and being a part of this. So a lot of good comments coming back from the preview show and recent episodes. A lot of thoughtful comments as well, and as always, those are appreciated too. So thanks everybody for being here. I hope we enjoy the ride together. And with that out of the way, Timsy, it's up and running.

2:51I'll give you the first shot. What is your first headline from the opening day of World Cup 2026? My opening headline would be Mexico kicking off the World Cup in proper World Cup style. It gave me all the good feels. I was obviously, I think like a lot of people, excited about the World Cup, but I hadn't caught the fever. and then maybe post-opening ceremony, seeing Shakira, seeing Salma Hayek, seeing all of these lovely people start the World Cup and then obviously watching Mexico do the business and just seeing the scenes and the limbs now that the Americans are actually adopting from the Europeans or the English.

3:39Amazing stuff like seeing Raul Jimenez basically break down into tears after scoring. that was great yeah i have a soft spot for him obviously his injury happened playing against arsenal and it's it's great that he's been able to rebuild a career since then so yeah yeah and just you know seeing him i think because of his his late father as well so like he he's obviously been going through some stuff so like goodness knows what that means to him and and uh and the whole country as well i've obviously i'm in new york at the moment and i tried to find places to to watch that game because i was like i can't miss that game and uh a lot of the places that i wanted to go to it was like this the place to go it was full like all of them like basically ticketed for no no chance of getting in because obviously the mexico community is huge here and um ended up going to the local uh mexican bar restaurant near near where i'm staying and that was sufficient that was there was plenty of uh mexicans in there i got on the tequilas at god knows what time in the afternoon and uh it was just amazing then that's when i i kind of felt like yes the world cup is here like this is this is what it's all about so um yeah very excited for for mexico to be honest and uh yeah a good start to the world cup any thoughts on them not being willing to call it the azteca and calling it mexico city stadium which is just more of the kind of nonsense you expect from a fifa situation yeah yeah it's like it's like when we say you know the the arsenal stadium for legal reasons instead of the emirates because of sponsorships and stuff like it's the emirates man it's the emirates until it's not the emirates so uh it is the azteca but even that like i can live with i mean and don't get me wrong obviously i have love for the emirates but like i can live with not giving it the name of its sponsor because of another sponsor because at the end of the day it's like okay fine you know it's it's two sponsors competing but the azteca has that history man that's that is a historic and cultural name for the stadium yeah this is the obviously i've i've missed a lot of the kind of historic moments that have happened there just because i'm you know too young obviously i'm i'm young as we established in the preview show um old but young and um so just to be able to see it like in all its glory and just like plenty of coverage around it like it is such an impressive stadium uh so it's amazing to to have that game there the opening game it's just a shame that we're not going to get like the final there as well would just be so massive and i think they their last game is maybe the quarters yeah so that's that's a bit of a shame that is a shame and you know we we may almost certainly talk about that more as we see what the metlife stadium in new york has for us in terms of torn acls and all the other things that it is renowned for uh bad traffic no atmosphere no culture around the stadium otherwise though it's fantastic but i digress okay that's your first headline my first headline i've got a headline that's not football related but i guess we should go to the football related headline which is fifa refereeing is here mate if you don't watch conca you know there's going to be a lot of this there's always a lot of this in fifa world cup discourse right people who watch a lot of football going oh people who don't watch football will think it's always like this and then the hipsters say guys it kind of is always like this and i can tell you as a conca calf uh regular it can always be like this this was a bit mental i find myself feeling some sympathy for the ref because i actually did think south africa were starting to lose composure there were other attempts to pick up red cards that they didn't get like one where a guy clearly tried to kick the downed mexico player out out when he was out in touch and just sort of missed him um i don't know that individually i think any of the calls are terrible i think the mexico red card actually like doesn't need to be a red card but the funny thing is it's borderline violent conduct for me and it's last man so i don't know were these terrible calls or is it people like just getting mad about refereeing i i think they weren't if we saw that in the premier league i think you'd be like ah this is this is another example of just just bad refereeing in the premier league we deserve better but I think you sort of not give it a bye because it's a world cup but because it's like when it comes to the champions league it's like you kind of need to be reminded every so often it's like well there are slightly different refereeing standards and I just think like you know what I think the the red for violent conduct for one of the south african players that was I mean that was just bad like it was silly and at that point I think they were just losing their heads they were obviously frustrated I think the the first red card was it where it was like the last man and I don't know I'm guessing it's still the denying of a goal scoring opportunity where if it like the double jeopardy thing where if the foul occurred actually in the box which was another like foot then it wouldn't have been a red so maybe they would have preferred that but the fact that it was just outside the box red card and then obviously they missed the free kick but um yeah I think the the Mexico one was probably just a bit of an evening up you could have probably argued that it was a red card as well but like it was so far wide I didn't quite see it as a red I was quite surprised that they gave it in the end but equally not surprised because South Africa down to nine men is just a bit mad for the opening game of the of the World Cup so it was maybe a bit of an evening evening up situation but yeah South Africa really didn't I thought they were they were they were okay they were obviously under the cosh for large portions of the game but I think they did all right and then I think as soon as it started to unravel it really did unravel so feel for you a bit i mean can i be honest i thought both teams were pretty poor honestly i thought i thought mexico was pretty poor but south africa were that's one of and you know i'm i'm not a great historian and unlike tim i don't remember lots of games once they've concluded but like i think you could probably say that south africa performance is as bad a performance on a big stage as i've ever seen yeah it wasn't great i thought like They were, I thought, because I didn't have high hopes for them anyway.

9:43So I thought they were right all the time. It was 0-0. I was like, okay, they're doing all right. They're not amazing. So I thought they did well enough to just stay in it. Because Mexico didn't really impress. Yeah, I'll say it like this. Based on what I saw from the next game, it wouldn't surprise me if Mexico struggled with either of the other two teams in the group. I thought both of them looked competent. And South Korea actually some good passing. All right, let's get to your next headline from day one. The next headline, I would say, I love the fact that there's going to be another Asian team that has basically done stuff this World Cup.

10:25Because usually it's kind of, it falls to Japan. Great. They're a great fun team to watch. And yeah, as you said, South Korea, I don't know if I've just stolen your one, but... No. South Korea looked good. They looked good. like they they they were kind of for me anyway slightly reminiscent of of us back in the day where we needed to create loads of chances just to score one um and obviously then went behind kind of unjustly because like you know czechia czech republic they didn't really you know do they threatened czech republic were almost the new arsenal they just threatened from set pieces because they're a big burly team uh but then you know south korea coming back and like they created so many chances it just felt like it was just not going to happen they had so many like they found so many little gaps in in the czech defense and just couldn't seem to just put it put it in the net yeah yeah their passing game was good like that was yeah that was after the first game where i just thought the flow of the game was poor in general there was some slick passing moves from south korea in that game especially the second half the first half was a bit cagey but i think even though it may not be what what their preferred way of playing when south korea fell behind in particular i mean i know they'd create a lot of chances before that but the game just it it opened up it got a bit more entertaining i thought the second half was was actually really enjoyable to watch for sure can i can i admit uh something to you i i've had a bit of a stinker with the last two or three days of sport where i was watching the knicks i turned it off after the third quarter because i was like this game's so done and then miss the greatest comeback in basketball history and for this game as soon as uh czechia took the lead i then went to bed because i was really tired and i was like right i'm gonna be up i need to do the pod it's gonna finish 1-0 and then i miss an amazing 25 minutes uh of of south korea's comeback so i caught up with that this morning very happily because i was i was happy for them i think there were a lot of people that experienced that with some manchester city games this season but that's almost better for better for your heart whereas you weren't invest that invested in the south korea game you might just have been entertained but for sure and it was a super interesting like i watched the extended highlights and it was like super and obviously uh sucek had his disallowed goal as well so like there was plenty of action it was more i feel like this at the start of world cups anyway from kind of my memory that the first game for every nation is always regardless of the score is very rarely slick I think it takes teams a little while to even get used to like the pitches because you know there's obviously a lot to be made about the pitches in in North America maybe not so Canada but for like in the US for example where they've kind of laid it down it's a little bit bobbly or a bit dry and they did seem like quite slick in Mexico obviously they're proper like football pitches um and I think it just maybe takes teams a little bit a while to to acclimatize um so I'm not surprised the fact that like no one's looked like actually very very good yet South Korea obviously is the best we've had in terms of like actually on the ball looking like a team and like having some proper passing phases and stuff so um yeah I think it would take a little bit of time but kind of by the second match day for every nation I'd expect teams to maybe look a little bit more comfortable on the ball yeah yeah I think that's that's it and then so my my other headline really my last one Timsey is just I'm ready for the tournament to properly kick off now I think this wet your appetite a bit it's another two game day today and you know unless you're supporting Canada or the USA and I'm sure there are a lot of people listening to support either of those and of course there'll be some some Bosnia listeners and some Paraguay listeners hopefully as well.

14:15But realistically, it feels like Saturday when we go to four games a day, then the Feast of Football feeling will come. So this was, this six or five and a half hours between games, like I don't understand the scheduling and I'm sure it's all geared towards who can watch and what regions and things like that. I get it. Like when can the South Korean audience watch? Maybe, I mean, it certainly wouldn't have benefited the Croatian audience in terms of, or pardon me, check audience in terms of when that game kicked off because it would have been overnight for them. But like you get that first game and then five and a half hours, it felt like the tournament basically ended and then started up again.

14:52It was just too long a break. So for me, the headline is wetting my appetite, but ready for the feast, you know? And the feast, I don't think will really feel like it starts until Saturday. And I mean, not to look all the way ahead to Saturday, but you'll look at that second game of that day, Brazil, Morocco, like that should be a proper fun interesting dynamic game it it it's a day where now you look and you say okay there's an hour and 15 minutes between each game and it just goes and goes and goes just just enough time for you to get a bite to eat pretend you care about your family and get back in front of the tv so looking forward to that you know it just it felt like too big a break and and it wet your appetite but it didn't feel like a like the tournament was up and running really yeah you it's like those when you get to a restaurant you're really excited because you've heard a lot about it and you've had an apro you've had one starter and it's just taken a little bit too long for the real courses to start coming in and then they're going here's the buffet have as much as you want all the time for about a week that's gonna be fun ready to shift to the stocks rising yes let's do it okay upgrade your online protection with an all-in-one security app get an exclusive nordvpn deal and four months extra at nordvpn.com slash arsenal vision that's nordvpn.com slash Arsenal Vision.

16:05NordVPN.com slash Arsenal Vision. It's risk-free with NordVPN's 30-day money-back guarantee as we introduce the NordVPN MVP. And that's our first stock rising today. Timsy, I'll throw it over to you. I'm going to say that MVP is not going to be a player because we've already mentioned, obviously, Raul Jimenez. We might give him an MVP anyway. But MVP goes to the fan scenes around the world that you're always going to see with a World Cup. But actually, obviously, as we've said, like a lot's been made of the not so good stuff around this world cup beforehand uh and fans not being able to get to the us uh largely and and ticket prices and all this stuff and it's just nice to see in all of those things like in la uh they they was it the the was it the sofai stadium they basically brought all the like mexican fans into watching it was like 40 000 mexican fans watching the game uh just seeing those scenes seeing the scenes outside the azteca and also like even in in la in korea town like seeing all of those people they put on i think like a watch party there it's just amazing like this is the one thing that whatever happens the world cup is always the best at is just showcasing the best of fans not just in that country but in in well not not in the host country but in every kind of uh home nation that actually plays it's just amazing It always makes me just so happy.

17:30So I'll give the MVP to the global football fan base. Yeah, I think football works regardless of everything that happens around it because the fans are extraordinary, right? And the passion and the intensity of the sport. It was awesome seeing the Azteca go nuts. It was really great scenes. I mean, I totally agree. I think that is the biggest stock rising of the day. And we'll just take a pause so I can tell you the following. Myself, James McNicholas, Gunner Blog, and Paul will be at HomeAway Sports Bar in Chicago June 28th. That's right. This month, I know it's short notice. We're going to put some tickets out.

18:09They're going to be like two bucks or something just so we can make sure people can get in and be where they want to be. But all of the proceeds will go to a charity chosen by the Chicago Gooners. We're going to do a meet and greet. So doors will be around 11 on Sunday the 28th. The show will be from 12 to 1. We'll hang out from 1 to 2. And then at 2 p.m., it'll be the first round of 32 game. There's one game that day. It'll be that day, so you can totally plan your day around this. If you're in Chicago or want to be in Chicago, come see us June 28th at Home Away Sports Bar. It's near Wrigley Field.

18:43Again, doors around 11, show at 12. We'll put out all the information, but that's Chicago. June 28th, me, James, and Paul, we would love to see you there. And I'm sorry it's late notice, but it came together late. but I'm very excited to do more information on that as we go. So my stock rising, I'm going to go with a player. How about that? I'm going to go with Lee Kang-in. I just thought he was fantastic, and it's an interesting player. He's linked with Atletico Madrid, as they potentially might be losing Julian Alvarez. We'll see. A player that we don't watch much because he doesn't play much in the Champions League.

19:19He plays a bit more in league on, but really, really pulled the strings for South Korea. And I thought was the best player on the pitch, was a player when he got on the ball, did the most interesting things. I mean, Kim Min-Jai was good at the back, marshalling the South Korea defense, obviously the great Bayern Munich player. But Lee Kang-in, a player I'm not as familiar with because of his role in that PSG squad, buried in the depth chart, so to speak. I thought he was really, really good, Timsey. and some should have probably had a few goals, some that were generated by Lee Kang-in's performance.

19:49So I'm going to give him a stock rising because even though there were players that had the hero moments for South Korea, I thought he was the best player I watched of the four teams that played. For sure, yeah. And also with someone like him, every World Cup there is like a, I think it's a great platform for players like him, who's obviously like super talented. And whenever I've seen him, especially like the Champions League, his little bit parts that he comes on and plays, He seems like such a talented player, really tricky, just great on the ball. And you're not surprised that he doesn't get much airtime just because, look at their front line and what they have to bring on.

20:30So to actually see him seize this first opportunity for his nation and with the Holwood watching as well, it'll be good for him if he does, for example, doesn't see a way through at PSG. it's a great way for him to put himself on the world stage and get some eyes to then maybe get to move somewhere that he can actually play more regular football. But yeah, super, super impressive as well. I think he's great. Yeah, yeah. And I mean, that's a team that I'm curious to watch play Mexico. I think on the ball, they're interesting. Obviously, they've got a wonderful defender in Kim Min-Jai. I think that's going to be a really fun matchup.

21:10And I think that's their next matchup. I think Czechia goes on to play South Africa next. So this is where the group dynamics are going to get interesting, right? Because Czechia with a one goal loss, I mean, still very much capable of qualifying, just beat the pants off of a South Africa team that will be without some of the players that started against Mexico, which maybe that's an advantage for them to be fair. Oh yeah, they're done. Yeah, but so, I mean, you know, you get a win in your group and you're on three points and you just don't get beat badly by the other two teams. You're probably through as one of those third place teams that gets through.

21:40So Czechia is still very much in this in a group that I think is wide open for qualification. And I would expect that Czechia, South Korea and Mexico all get through to the next round based on how South Africa looked. Yeah, it'll be interesting actually to see how they set up against Mexico. Because I think, sorry, with Mexico and South Korea now, they basically know that they're through. They have a great chance of going through because they've both got a win each. and whether South Korea, they know like, right, we're going up against the host nation. It's not going to be easy. Whether they change at all and they don't go as, say, maybe attacking.

22:15Maybe they set up a little bit differently just because they know, look, if we get a draw here, we're definitely through. And maybe they see the last game against South Africa as their one of like, right, let's just, let's get the second victory there. So it'll be interesting. And I'm guessing Mexico are just going to go all out for the group stage. they're just gonna like we're at home confidence is up the feel-good factors you know at absolute maximum so i would i wouldn't be surprised to see uh to see them go for it but it's going to be a great game like it's actually kind of a a fun group just i think any of the the host nations just to see how they go like obviously later on we're going to be speaking about canada and usa as well and like the expectation that comes with with those teams as well especially the us like there's a lot of people are feeling really good about them so it'll be interesting to see how that that spans that that pans out sorry yeah i don't think we need any more stocks rising this short day low on yeah please can i give one more stock rising yep bonus stock rising also said shakira we talked about a little bit earlier just the fact that i haven't heard from her in in four years maybe even longer and she's just trotted out every world cup to just go you've made one of the best world cup songs ever since 2010 so you're never going to be forgotten we're going to create another one it's not going to be as good in my opinion but just bring her out again so oh she's still doing her thing great you know it's just a shame she didn't obviously perform i will say if you haven't heard from shakira then you haven't been to the emirates because that song gets a lot of oh no that's true that's very true that's true yeah but from her life in person yeah i will say that her her and um mariah carey have a lot in common in that they created a banger that became associated with a period and they're raking it in off that shakira with the world cup so granted that's only once every four years obviously mariah carey with all i want for christmas is you you can't you can't say mariah carey only came out with a christmas single she's timsey i just want you know sorry yeah but i just want to be clear about this she is in the pantheon I agree, but the money she makes from that song is probably more than all the money she made from every other song.

24:32I mean, here's how big that song is. We have an Arsenal Vision spoof of that song that is out there that you can listen to. Yeah, all I want for Christmas is the Premier League. Yeah, you can listen to that. It's a hashtag banger. Okay, let's hit the stocks falling. I'll go first on this one. And for me, the clear first stock falling is, and this will vary by region, but for me Fox is the broadcaster um this was working with them this world cup so so you so you're clear to talk about this all right here we go this was a tour de force in how to be bad at everything the studio featured and you want to talk about juxtaposition Thierry Henry yeah Zlatan Ibrahimovic Alexi Lalas it is the classic three dragon head meme of the two sort of vicious looking dragons and the clown dragon like alexi lawless one of both the the dumbest humans and the most noxious humans that exists on planet earth next to two legends of the game spewing xenophobic garbage and absolute nonsense about the sport of football which he seems to not know anything about despite having played it then you go to the commentators who are equally dreadful um warren barton on the second game just saying literally the opposite of everything that happened on the pitch and everything that was relevant in football and then as if to say you think we've hit rock bottom hold my beer going for ad breaks during the hydration breaks hydration breaks by the way in weather that is perfectly temperate at least in the azteca and and not even making it back in time for the football to restart just a tour de force master class in being crap everybody i know is telling me elliot watch it on telemundo i don't know Spanish I am going to be watching a lot of this I feel an obligation to watch it in the English language because if I'm going to cover it I feel like I have to know how bad these guys are because people are going to be talking about it and and and I will do that for you dear listener but I switched over to Telemundo at one point and honestly it was it was like taking medicine I felt healed that's how bad this was so I don't know if this is the case for everybody else but timsey that yeah the jarring impact of going to an ad break like in the middle of a half it felt like watching the nfl i couldn't it was no good yeah it's very i guess typically i might not to slight your people please slight our people a slightly more kind of americanized like typically american broadcast where i have the first quarter's over we're gonna go to a break and come back for quarter number two exactly that's what i kind of that's what i thought about yesterday when i watched the coverage luckily i watched telemundo because i was at a mexican bar and i was like yes give me all the spanish um but i i obviously saw saw bits of the fox coverage and just like it kind of made me realize like ah i hope this doesn't this this often happens like when it gets very very hot they obviously just you know championship final they give you drinks breaks just in that kind of halfway period like 22 minutes or so and which is fine i'm all for it like look it's hot it can be I guess dangerous or just you know but I just hope it doesn't roll over into more domestic football because that's just not what it's all about like the what I love so much about football is that it's 45 minutes of just pure uninterrupted just chaos or for Arsenal controlled chaos and I just don't want it to bleed over where now there's just going to be if ever there's a bit of sun in any country it's just like well you've got to have a drinks break and then it It just becomes obviously naturally a tactical break as well, where a manager can have a little chat with his players.

28:07And then that will feed over into the broadcast where they just go, well, now it's not an official break, but it is enough time to run an ad. And it's just, yeah, it's not ideal. So I'd back you with that. And what's going to happen, right, is it's going to be, to your point, it'll stop being about weather and it'll be, well, given how much football is played year round, drinks breaks probably make sense just so we don't overextend our players we should have one every half and then and then we're here so yeah exactly yeah it's it's yeah it's not ideal so it's not great no it's not great so all right you got you got to stop falling for us yeah yeah stop falling for for on the pitch um it will be south africa in in general their performance like is as as we said before i didn't have high hopes anyway and obviously just i think it's first time seeing them in the world cup since they hosted and it's just like you know it's you you want to see like these nations where there's there's not much hope there but you want them to at least give like a spirited performance it was just like it was a little bit just their whole world cup's done now like they've got the two players suspended so they're now out for the rest of the world cup but god knows how they're feeling as well because they're suspended they might as well just go home yep um so yeah it was just a shame to see to see them go out with a bit of a you know what is it what's this expression wimp or a canter or whatever it is and just like not much resistance there and i don't expect to see to them kind of putting up any sort of resistance against uh czechia or or south korea for that matter so uh yeah it was just it's just a shame because you know i've got great memories of them in in the south africa world cup and yeah they're talking about good broadcast broadcast sorry like peter drury and that commentary and that for that that will live on forever that that moment and that's what good broadcast can do and just you know this one is just a the polar opposite i'd say so yeah i feel for them a little bit and i think the headlines about the referee are convenient cover for a south africa team that was yeah not good not disciplined had no plan didn't keep control of their emotions.

30:21And from what I understand, had a pretty poor run-up to this World Cup as well in terms of their performances building up to it. So, yeah, I mean, they are basically now out, I think, of the tournament. They have players that spent less than 90 minutes on the pitch whose tournament is largely over. Yeah, I agree. They're a great stock falling. I don't have another stock falling. I think we covered the refereeing. We talked about the broadcast challenges and we hit the South Africa component of it. So I think we skipped straight to the end here and just a quick, what we're looking forward to today.

30:51We will cover Arsenal angles, where there are Arsenal angles. There are no real Arsenal angles today. So we go straight to what you're looking forward to. Until. Tomorrow, Brazil and Morocco, watching Big Gabby do his thing. Yeah. Well, maybe both Gabby's. Yeah. Who knows? And maybe future Arsenal players. You never know. Like Vinicius Jr. Don't you rile me up like that. Get me excited. Let's quickly look ahead. Both of the other co-hosts get their World Cup up and running today. So quickly, anything on the Canada game? I think Canada is one of those teams that has a chance to reach the knockout rounds.

31:30They have Jonathan David up front. They're going to be without their best player, which is, I think, right? Alphonso Davies, not good. Yeah, he's not fit. Which is unfortunate. So anything to say about the Canada-Bosnia game? No, I think it'll be actually a very difficult one. I think out of all the three host nations, I think they're the least likely to get to the knockouts. Obviously, as I've said a few times, it's always great when a host nation goes further. So it would be great if they get through, but I just feel like they're like, I think USA probably have the highest hopes and I think the most confidence going into, you know, that obviously they had a great result beforehand for the World Cup as well.

32:11This might be the game that decides if they go through because I think they can get past Qatar. I think Switzerland will be better than them. So between Bosnia and Canada, second place probably gets decided. So we might get a preview into that. The other game, obviously, USA Paraguay. To me, this is an interesting one because I think USA Turkey will be a difficult game for the USA and it wouldn't surprise me if they lost that. Turkey obviously come with Yildiz and Guler, two great players, but two great players don't necessarily team make. I don't know what to think about this USA team. I haven't watched them very closely in the preparation of the tournament.

32:45Obviously, didn't have to qualify. So it was a lot of friendlies. Didn't really watch them. On paper, there's enough sort of mid-level European talent to be a decent team. There will be the benefit of the support of the home fans, although because of the sort of melting pot that is the USA, I think all the opposition teams will tend to have reasonable support as well. But I think the USA should be better than Australia. you i think turkey would be an interesting challenging matchup so this one paraguay and usa this is the one that i think is the interesting litmus test if you really think the usa have something about them this is this is a game you got to go win and make that statement put yourself in position i'd agree yeah because then they know as well like their their their jobs that as you say like the usa turkeys i guess turkey is probably better than them but turkey i think can be very hit and miss anyway so that maybe is a bit of a toss-up and I just feel like yeah this is their their one banker I don't know if it's a good or bad thing to have this as their first game maybe it's the best time I don't know but uh yeah if they know like I think if they if they if they get this win then you know they're basically as good as through but it's a difficult group for them but I think that yeah as you say like with they've got a lot of decent players and they've got a good chance I think with the the home support and everything and like they're I think they're riding quite high at the moment so uh I think Canada and uh USA should be should be good to get through but I just feel yeah I've got an eye out for Canada because I think Switzerland will beat them Bosnia is a difficult game and then obviously Qatar they should win so that they should be able to go through as well but yeah USA I kind of have weirdly high hopes for to to get decently far yep usa will have to avoid getting uh almirand miguel almirand obviously playing there antonio sanabria there as well players you might know julio and ciso of uh brighton fame i think and ipswich as well so a couple of players there you might know looking forward to watching that though and then to the feast of football on saturday so we'll have a world cup daily for you saturday morning covering these two games and then really trying to take a quick peek at the four games and then again Sunday morning and then again Monday you get how this works it's World Cup daily for a reason so I hope you're enjoying it and I hope you're excited about it come see us in Chicago on the 28th by the way Timsy off to a flying start really appreciate it man looking forward to seeing uh what you do with this with this wonderful show when you're not saddled with the uh anchor that is myself no thank you so much for for having me yeah looking forward to it it should be fun as we say it's like we're just getting started and I think but but you know in no time we're going to be absolutely flying just hundreds of games of football to to talk about so that's gonna be great thing about these shows there's so many of them and there's so much football that if half of them are terrible no one will even notice it all just blends together it'll be like south africa you'll forgotten them by by thursday of next week i think half the people in england who are asking fans anyway i'm gonna watch half the games because they're at three in the morning so yeah just trust us we watched yeah yeah we know what's going on yeah timsey's in new york through it as well great great great advertisement for our coverage all right good stuff thanks timsey my name is ellie smith we love you and oh gosh i'm just gonna do my arsenal out and we'll figure out another one later we love you and we'll talk to you after arsenal 10 transfer no no

36:15Bye.
