2:20Honestly, it's like being married to Kim Kardashian now we're here.

2:28Clair Buckley:Hello, Claire. Hello, James. Hey, listen, before we get into it. Yeah. Got a little gift for you. The Barclays Podcast is officially a proud sponsor of the mighty Chelmsford Chieftains. Yay! Go on, Chieftains! Chieftains! So we need to get that framed. We need to get it up somehow. And get it up. there we go the podcast is sponsoring a team the podcast is officially stepping into sports sponsoring look at us yeah high rollers yeah I've got news for you as well what we're also sponsoring a young athlete I know two Riley Moorcraft yeah couple yeah we're getting into it yeah we're sponsoring a young little boxer and a young ice skater it's all the Buckleys are going to take over the world aren't we just there's a fly in here Anyway, that doesn't matter.

3:21Clair Buckley:Oh, it's one of those gross little, like, sort of fruit flies. You're not flicking it out of me. Well, it's either you or me, mate. It's every man for themselves. Hey, guys, welcome to the podcast. It's called The Buckleys, if you didn't know that. This is the podcast where we sit down and have a chat, moan a bit, and invite you into our lives. But before we do get into it, I just want to remind you that you can get in touch with your stories and questions for us by emailing thebuckleys at platformmedia.uk or you can message us at thebuckleyspod on Instagram and TikTok. very important bit of information because I think we've built a whole theme of this episode around one person's message to us so yeah do get them in because you know just help us don't forget to follow and subscribe to the show on Spotify or whatever podcast app that you like to use and if you do enjoy the show why not go ahead and leave us a little review five stars would be a preash just quickly go on ever so quickly Claire go on this episode of the Buckleys is sponsored by the Co-op's new meals range served yeah so thanks Co-op and by the way can I tell you a little something about that you know last week when we did that it wasn't actually out in shops yet and I got to take some of the stuff home and it was very good I tried gnocchi for the first time do you know what that's called star treatment there you go anyway what's been going on in our lives this week Claire well we'll kick off with this morning we had a lovely little interaction this morning yeah it was really bizarre not bizarre well I'll explain why it was bizarre yeah we were left being like wait we probably should have said something else we were walking to the train station and a bloke came up to us and said sorry guys I just want to quickly come up shook my hand shook your hand he said I just want to thank you for everything that you do I listen to the podcast I absolutely love it I just want to thank you thank you for everything that you do and then he sort of and he went anyway I'll let you get on and then he went and he was away and we were a bit like and I was like thank us for everything that we do he was a police officer

5:30full police officer he was in uniform and everything everything came up shaking her hand thank you for everything that you do

5:35Clair Buckley:I just want to thank you for everything you do and he left as quickly as he came up and we were just stood there being like we should have probably thanked him maybe I've said I don't know, thanks as well. If we're going to have a competition, whose job's more important? But we did say you're welcome. Now, go off and save some people's lives and do whatever you do. That's what I said. But it's a lovely little interaction. It's great, isn't it? So many people do like this podcast. The tide's turning. It was always, obviously, 100%. I love the in-betweeners, which I do enjoy. but now it's so much where's Claire?

6:18Clair Buckley:Love the podcast love what you guys do apparently we're doing something right I don't know it doesn't feel like we are if you say so if you say so I'll be honest with you it doesn't feel like it how are you there's a couple of fucking tweaks we could make have you had a good week Claire? yeah I've been fine yeah I've been fine you've been fine Here's something that I've decided this week That you already know That I'm thinking Probably won't But I'm thinking of taking up golf Yes well we've mentioned that Because you were speaking to old C Bartlett C Bartlett Your bestie And why'd you get all embarrassed?

7:00Clair Buckley:Because blokes don't operate that way We use love each other so much No it's not It's user like texting all the time We're just catching up We're just you know How's your day been? no yeah I saw I'm actually like that once I was like why are you asking each other about your day because we're just we're just we're bros yeah no but you were saying that you feel like we had this conversation a couple of weeks ago and you were like I feel like I need to I need to fin something well this is it right and also I feel like you're getting to golf age yeah maybe I think golf age is a wide it's got younger now is a wide net there I think I think commonly it's like a it's like an old old rich man sort of a that's what I aspire to be an old rich man alright well that's the end that's the end game but I was going to say like most nothing against them most women don't really like the fact that their husband like fucks off every Saturday to go and play golf or fishing or to the football or to the pub or whatever but it's because those blokes are working Monday to Friday right and their significant other might want to spend a bit of quality time with them on a Saturday Now, I did used to, like a couple of years ago, I did used to leave for a month or so and go away working and stuff like that.

8:16Clair Buckley:But I don't really do that anymore. And when I do go to work, I've dragged you along with me. So I'm just thinking, and I'm always in the house. I'm always around, you know, humming, making old man noises. and just working hard on discovering new and inventive ways to annoy you. So I just thought maybe if I start playing golf and give you a bit of a break on a Saturday or something. Yeah. Like I feel like our relationship is flipped to what most people's are. Yeah. It would be nicer if I maybe got out of the house a bit more. Lesson. Lesson. James. Go on. I'm not saying I want ready. Yeah. But yeah.

9:02Less. Just want less of you. Just a bit less would be great. That's fine. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. So how many holes is golf? 18?

9:11Clair Buckley:I think it's 18 or you can do a nine. I don't know anything about golf, I'll be honest with you. There's no like 36 courses or anything? You can go away to Portugal for a weekend and stuff like that. And go play golf and things. Well, there you go. What a great time that would be. Great time had by all. Great time had by all. Like I say, I don't know anything about golf. is a thing that I might just explore. It does seem boring, I've got to be honest. I don't know, I think there's beer involved. Yeah, yeah, you drink the whole way around. I think there's beer involved and I'm thinking, and I don't know if I've just made this up in my head, but I think you can get like a half set of clubs.

9:51Yeah, you've mentioned this.

9:52Clair Buckley:I said that to you, just acting, because you were like, well, because you were going, well, don't just go out and spend a fortune on golf clubs and you don't even know if you like it. And I went, well, you've got to get your own golf clubs because you're a certain height and you need your own. Right, whatever. Do it. So I think I'm going to get half a set of golf clubs. Okay, you do it. If that thing exists. Okay. But I'm also looking forward to wearing like the trousers that tuck into the socks and stuff. And the sort of little floppy hat with the bobble on it. You go for it. You go for it. Stay tuned, guys.

10:24Clair Buckley:I'm going to, I'll let you know how I get on with my, maybe I'll take a little microphone with me. and I could report from the golf course for this podcast. Yeah, because it's not fucking boring enough. Well, I'm just saying it's not going to get any more boring. Reporting for the golf course, I think you've done it. We can't make this podcast anymore, shit. Do you want a nut? I've got some little nuts here. No, I've got some little nuts of my own. Can I moan for a little bit? Yeah, of course you can. Really quick one. Of course. Really quick one for you. And I think you're going to get on board with this one.

11:01Clair Buckley:Here's my new moan for you. Help me. Get ready to start going rah, rah, rah. Restaurants that have bench seating. So you're sitting next to some strangers having a conversation. It's just another annoying thing. Right. Brought to you by some trendy wanker trying their hardest to be cool. If I'm having something to eat with someone, I don't want it to feel like I'm at some fucking communal picnic or something. Right. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. I want to just concentrate on the person that I'm having something to eat with, the conversation that's going on. If I'm sat at a bench, I'm worried about if I'm going to grab someone else's drink or something.

11:41What, is this like a long table situation? You're not seeing restaurants like that.

11:45Clair Buckley:Yeah, just like a long table and everyone just mucks in. Everyone just sits down and gets involved. Oh, not for me. Somewhere the other day, I was with Joe. Right. He sat down on this bench. Well, that's probably because you went somewhere posh. No, it wasn't that. It wasn't. Well, it was in London. I thought you were going to say posh for me. No, it would have been posh. You wouldn't have been allowed in. But no, you've got to keep an eye on what's yours. Make sure no one nicks anything of yours. Yeah. And I love eating. It's such an occasion for me. It's the highlight of my day is what I'm eating.

12:20Okay.

12:20Clair Buckley:And suddenly it becomes like it feels like work. Like it just feels like. Oh, so I feel like then you've got to sort of watch what you're talking about. Like people can hear you. It's very whispered. Yeah. Yeah. What were you and Joel talking about? We were just like, oh, don't tell anyone, but we're going to do a new Inbetweeners film next year. Yeah, right. Imagine if that got out. But yeah, restaurants that have bench seating, fuck off. Yeah, no, I feel that. Anything sort of community based Is not for me No It's not is it You know Other people And Like having to listen to other people And be near other people And Ugh No That's why friends are overrated I keep telling you this Yeah but we've only got like four I know And they all want stuff from you No they don't They They want And I don't mean that in a way Where they're unreasonable or anything But just No it's just like a back and forward friendship Yeah, it's hard to keep on top of.

13:22Yeah, yeah, maybe.

13:25Clair Buckley:What's easier is just buying a video game. Spend the next few weeks working on that. That's all you need. Whatever keeps you away from me. Sure. Is honestly absolutely fine. And that was your Moan of the Week, brought to you by the Chelmsford Chieftains. Claire I've had me moan which means it's only time me moan I've had me little moan there um it's which could which could mean only one thing we've got to talk about my Instagram algorithm we don't have to oh okay here's one for you uh American lobster fisherman getting a lot of that these days am I going to get in trouble for not knowing what that is or am I allowed to not know it's just lobster fishermen okay I assume they're like east coast Maine, Massachusetts Can I just say that's right?

14:17Every time you bring up your algorithm you act like I don't know how this happened Algorithm works because you are watching stuff similar to it You bring it up as if it's a shock to you Oh I'm getting fed lobster fishermen It's because you're watching stuff

14:36Clair Buckley:The algorithm is a pathetic little child that just wants their daddy to be proud of them So you watch one video of a lobster fisherman and they go, oh, did you like that? Oh, I've got some more here. Wait, don't go. Here you go, here you go. So they just do that, right? Okay. But that's it. You watch one and you're locked in then. Right, okay. At the moment for me, it's a lobster fisherman. There's one bloke. I think his name is Jacob Knowles. I wrote a note of it because it's a good Instagram account. He's a lobster fisherman but he does a lot of stuff where he'll have a lobster that's like covered in barnacles and what they do is they get some pliers and they scrape all the barnacles off this lobster and give it a little fish in its claw and they chuck it back in oh i love that you know this one's got a bit of time left in him oh i love that and they're very sort of into sustainable fishing and so they have to be big enough but they also can't be too big right because if they're if it's like a large female that will produce literally like millions of eggs or something.

15:39Clair Buckley:They make a notch in her tail to let any other, if she gets caught again, to let any other fisherman know she's been notched. She needs to go back in. Love it. Yeah. I've been notched. Yeah. Long time ago. Right, okay. I feel like the life of a lobster fisherman would be good. Hard. Yeah. Don't get me wrong. Tough. Hard. But I'd have liked to come from a long line of lobster fishermen so that you could it's like all these lobster fishermen in like Maine and Massachusetts and stuff their dad, their grandfather their great grand, they're all lobster fishermen, it's the family thing. You still wouldn't do it you'd be the one to let everybody done what are you talking about?

16:27Clair Buckley:No, you'd have to it'd be good, honest, tough work I think I'd have been proud doing that I think it would have made me proud rather than making a living as the bloke that had a wank on an old lady. We were just talking the other day about how it's obvious that you don't do very much. What were we talking about the other day in the kitchen? Can you remember? No. Well, you started off, you've got a sore knee. Yeah, I've got a sore knee. It's better today. It's still a bit sore. And you... Hold on, this wasn't the point. You're going to hijack it. Yeah, I'm going to hijack it. Make me look mean.

17:03No, I'm not going to make you look mean.

17:04Clair Buckley:In your defence... Because you actually went, I'm bringing this up. In your defense, you were trying to be nice because you were saying that maybe I should get a doctor's appointment or something like that. But you couldn't get the sentences out without just laughing. That's not true. I'm standing there going, I'm in so much pain. I was going to, because it was getting worse. And I was like, now there's no position I can put the knee in where it isn't constantly aching. And while you were trying to say, like, make me feel better, you were just laughing in my face at the same time. You were laughing.

17:35Clair Buckley:It was like our wedding day all over again. When the priest was saying, do you take this man? And you just were in a fit of giggles. I did get the giggles, yeah. It was really awkward. That's not true, though. I made a little joke and I said to you, because you were like, oh, because this has happened a couple of times over the years. You've got a bad name. It's about the third time this year this has happened. It's not the third time this year. It is. It's not. It was a couple of years ago. It's at least the second time this year. Okay, but I said to you, well, it's probably your long sports career.

18:09You know, anybody who moves as much as you do, they end up with like a bad knee or a bad shoulder or whatever. That's what was funny.

18:16Clair Buckley:Yeah. Because you do fuck all. Yeah, you made yourself laugh. And then you went on to say you've got, I don't know anyone that's got to your age that has the softest feet. James's feet, right? And this is an actual observation, right? The soles of Jamesy's feet are like a newborn baby, right? Yeah, I try that. They're very rarely on the ground. His feet are so soft. Why stand when you can see it? And doesn't that just scream? Does fuck all. Just constantly, literally, huzz your feet up. I've looked after myself. I've made sure that I haven't had to Me Every time I come out of the shower I have to give I have to do the old lady Little screen I put cream on my feet I'm trying to Why are you making that face?

19:07Clair Buckley:Because it's gross isn't it? Yeah because I Because I'm I'm busy Yeah It's like hands Like what like I'll like be doing like Not recently to be fair But like we redid the garden and stuff Like and I did that And I'd come in And I'd had like All these blisters on my hands From like Digging stuff up and stuff And I'd be saying to James I was like Oh god look This is going to be or hard now and stuff and you're like, yeah, shouldn't do it, Craig. Well, to be fair, I can touch like flames with the tips of my fingers. You could put a pin in the tips of my fingers. That's from all my guitar playing.

19:43Yeah, sitting on your ass playing guitar

19:45Clair Buckley:when I'm busy. Yeah, but that was a proper observation how soft and like pink and fresh James' soles of his feet are it's actually nuts I've kept off my feet you know listen I'm not gonna listen I'm not gonna sit here and pretend I've not taken the easy way the easy way out yeah you know listen you do you babe maybe once you start going running the golf course a couple of times you'll start to build up I'll have a cart you'll get a cart yeah yeah Oh, that's what I was going to say. I don't know if this is just America, but this has shown up on my Instagram algorithm. Go on. It's like golf cart girls.

20:33Clair Buckley:Right. Because I was going to say that to you. That's a good thing as well. We get like hot girls to like come along and sell you your drinks. I don't know if that's just America though. What are you trying to encourage here? Well, you know, just go and have a good time and relax and, you know, go and have fun. I'll show them my feet. Yeah Say hi baby Feel these I'd say listen Feel that soft right One more thing Go on Because you're always Taking the piss out of me You outed me The other day For falling over And I'm so clumsy And stuff Only because so many people Saw it anyway While you were on The baby soft feet Yeah What did you do yesterday?

21:14Clair Buckley:What? What did I do? You know what you did Look at your stupid little face Your nose is looking good Thank you James put a pore strip on. A poor strip on my face. It was like across his nose, right? He appeared downstairs where? And from far away, when you first walked in, I was up there at the end of the kitchen and you walked in through the living room and I was like, what is wrong with your face? And anyway, he came up and he had this poor strip on. And then, what time was it? It must have been... Midday. Okay, so it was midday. And then you had to take the dog a walk. Yeah, I fucked up. What I didn't realise, I put this poor strip on my nose and then it said you need to leave it on for six hours and i didn't realize that so i had this paw strip on i kept saying to him just take it off i'm sure they came in a pack right yeah i was like take it off and just do it again at night before you go to bed would he take it off no he took the dog a walk i had to go out i had to go out with the dog with a paw strip on he sat in the house all day honestly it's like being married to fucking Kim Kardashian now we're here it's a lot of people's dream it's ridiculous anyway I just wanted to out you for your wee paw strip this episode of the Buckleys is brought to you by Co-op's new meals range Served which means it's time for another round of Served Up Hacks the rules are simple each week we bring some life hacks that have been served to us online the kind of thing that promises to make life easier but usually just makes you look like a lunatic.

22:51Clair Buckley:Like putting your phone in a pint glass to turn it into a DIY speaker. Or sticking your jeans in the freezer instead of washing them. Or my personal favourite, using a hairdryer to defrost your frozen pizza. Well that's not a hack James, that's really a problem for you. Probably. Anyway, my hacks this week are the freezer pillow hack. Hot night, Shove your pillowcase in the freezer before bed. Sweet dreams, brain freeze included. Yeah, I actually don't mean that. The thumb in ears hiccup cure. Stick your thumb in your ears, then drink a glass of water using your fingers. How do you drink using your fingers?

23:29It's awkward, but hiccups vanish. Yeah.

23:33Clair Buckley:Apparently. And I've got one here for you, Claire. Easy home extension. You'd like a little extension on the house, wouldn't you? I would. Sure. Well, they're expensive, aren't they? Yeah. They're a pain in the arse. Extensions can take months, can't they? Yeah. It could take a year if you've got a big enough extension. Don't you worry, Claire. I've found this person here. You can just pick up an old van and paint it to the house. I'll just show Claire the picture there. Yeah. And I'll try and describe it to our listeners. It looks like an old – it's America. I can tell by the license plate. But it looks like an old sort of transit van.

24:09Clair Buckley:and it has been sort of, it's as if the house... They've even put wood cladding on the side of it. It's as if the house has sort of taken it and become a part of, like... Yeah, like Monster House. Have you ever seen that film? Yeah, so you don't... Just get yourself a knackered old van. Well, let's be honest. Make it a part of the house. The ultimate hack is still co-op's new range served. I was just about to say that, Claire. I do like that name, served. Absolutely. It's a bit like here. Yeah. Don't worry about it. Served. Well, dinner is served. These are ready to cook meals made with fresh ingredients and they're ready in just 30 minutes.

24:54Clair Buckley:No faffing about, no peeling garlic with a spoon, just delicious food, Claire. And proper portions. Enough for both of us, which is handy because you eat like a sparrow and I eat like a bin man. Those bin men, they do eat a lot. Delivery partners, T's and C's apply. Claire, we've had a listener get in touch. Good, good. Alan. Al's got in touch with us. Alan. His message, the subject to his message is undermined by the under nine. There you go. He says, hi, James and Claire. My eight-year-old son keeps calling me bruh.

26:43Clair Buckley:Yeah, well, that answers your question, Alan. He goes on to say, as parents, has anything like this happened to you before and how do I make it stop? Alan from Glasgow. Is that your cousin? Maybe. Is that cousin Alan? No, he's two L's. No, Alan, you're absolutely right. We're going through the same thing. Although it's not bruh. We don't get bruh. We get bro. Bro. Bro. Bro. So we decided to make the, off the back of that message, we decided to make the theme of this podcast, this episode, sorry, Down With The Kids. I'm not being funny. I had a little look at them and there's a lot of them I do know and it's only because we've got a 13-year-old son.

27:21Clair Buckley:Okay. All right. Had we not had that, I would not know. I've not heard these words outside of the context of our kid. Okay. First of all, some classic 90s examples for you. Safe. Safe. Like, it's all good. All good. Wicked. Yeah. Classic. Cool beans. Kids aren't saying cool beans. No, but they did in the 90s. Oh, okay. Right, yeah. What was it? Was it the Thornberries? The Wild Thornberries. Didn't the kid always say cool beans or something in that? Oh, I don't know. I might be getting mixed up. Maybe. I love the Wild Thornberries. It's great. Respect. Yeah. Or respect without the T. Yeah, without the T, yeah.

28:01Ali G, you want it?

28:02Clair Buckley:Allow it. Sorry? Allow it. Allow it. Allow it. Allow it? Yeah. No, not for it. Allow it. Leave it. It's fine. Allow it. Let it go. Forget it. Pucker. That's very English. That's not one of mine. I want to know actually, Paige, do some typing and get on Google. Does the word pucker come from pucker pies? Or are pucker pies called pucker pies because the word pucker existed already? No, because pucker is P-U-C-K-E-R no P-U-K-K-A or in fact I don't know how Pucker Pies is Pucker Pies is what you get from the chip shop fit, she's well fit again we don't I feel like that's quite an English thing fit, yeah we don't say that Minger, Butters she was Butters bruv I think I've told that story the only reason I know what Butters means is because I was called it once in a club Right.

28:59Clair Buckley:Who said that? There was like... Oh, get him. Yeah, I was in Glasgow in the garage. Oh, kill him. There was like a group of boys behind me and I could hear them talking about me and then I turned around and then they were like, buzz, buzz. And I didn't know what it meant and I asked one of my male friends and they said, everything's good, butter face. I was like, oh. Hmm. Thanks. I've got some information on pucker pies. Thank God. Thanks, Paige. Pucker pies were named after the Hindi word pucker, meaning genuine or properly good, and were not named after an existing product. The name was chosen by founders Trevor and Valerie Storer in 1964 to reflect the quality of their delicious pies and the values of their company.

29:47Clair Buckley:Trevor? It entered English slang during the British colonial period in India and became a bit of slang in the UK. So it was obviously brought back from India, which I think was all we brought back from there.

30:03Clair Buckley:Anyway, that was why we were there. We were just admiring their language. That was it. This episode is brought to you by Diet Coke. Hey, Claire, we've never really fit the mould, have we? No. We haven't. But that's the thing. Being a bit of a square peg has actually helped. We've made a life out of just being exactly who we are. I mean, look, people actually listen and apparently enjoy this. Yeah, it's mad, isn't it? But basically being yourself is always better. All you've got to do is own your tastes. Whatever you're doing, even when you're having a little Diet Coke break like we are now. And as a little treat to celebrate all that individuality, Diet Coke have got some goodies up for grabs.

30:48Look out for the packs with This Is My Taste written on them. Scan the QR code for a chance to win prizes like five grand in cash and merch signed by their ambassador, Mr. Jamie Dornan.

31:02Clair Buckley:Sweet. Design your can for a chance to win in the Coke app. Teas and seas apply.

31:12Clair Buckley:Do you hear that? Sounds like breakfast is ready. Because Quakers coming in hot with morning nutrition. 100 % whole grain oats and a good source of fibre to fuel the rhythm of your morning and kickstart your day. And that sounds absolutely delicious. Fuel to start whatever's next. Quaker, official sponsor of FIFA World Cup 26. I, O, let's go! Here's some examples for you, Claire, and you're going to know some here of some, what would you call, modern day vernacular. It's giving. Yeah, I know that. It's giving office worker. It's giving Willy Wonka. Sexy secretary, like if you put a pair of glasses on.

32:01Clair Buckley:Right. Riz. Charisma. No cap. So some of these things I say to my boys in our group chat and it kills them. Like they hate. because I'll be like, boys, we're going to get a McDonald's tonight, no cap. I'm like, oh, dad, dad. What does no cap mean though? Not lying, serious. Right, okay. Serious, no cap. Okay. There's a couple of, I mean, we're of an age, Claire. You're bulking me in, were you? I hate to break it to you. There's six months between the two of us. We're in an age, Claire. Seven actually, we figured that out. We're in an age, Claire, where slang even when I think I'm being ironic and trying to be down with the kids with my kids the slang I'm saying has has been gone yeah it wasn't a thing that I said when I was a kid but now I'm so old that I've completely missed the window because I say because do you remember when and I hate it now I say it all the time to them it's like yeah yeah we're gonna do it yeah yeah and I go yeah we'll just do it for the lols yeah and they're like oh dad yeah um slaps oh something slaps It hits Yeah Yeah Fire Gas See fire That's Like I'd say That was like a beatnik Sort of Jack Kerouac would say Oh that was a real gas man Yeah Does that now come back It's like groovy Yeah Oh that was gas daddy-o That sort of thing I know what fire means Fire means like It's just really good Yeah awesome Cool Harrison's I think Harrison has said Those noodles That you made my mum Were fire Sheesh Is that how you say that?

33:45Clair Buckley:I've got sheesh here. I feel like I've heard Harrison say that.

33:53Clair Buckley:Drip. Check the drip out. Oh, see, a drip to me means you're a bit. Yeah, a bit of an idiot. Yeah, that's what my teachers would call me at school. Oh, I don't know. Where do you want to go? Yeah, think about it, you drip. Yeah. What does drip mean there? Oh, like jewelry. No. Well, I think it did mean that as well. but your outfit oh I thought that was a fit oh god yeah I mean it's this is awful bussing that's bussing yeah yeah that means really good period see that's been around for years a kid's saying period that's an American thing because we don't say we don't say period we say full stop it's a full stop we should start that hey full stop yeah said what I said well no but didn't you have like adults saying that to you don't do that full stop oh yeah yeah Yeah, you may be right.

34:43Clair Buckley:Just don't full stop. Yeah. Fam. Fam, yeah. Goated. Goat, the goat. The goat. The GOAT. Greatest of all time. Yeet. Yeah, I don't know what that means. Apparently Clarkson came up with that. No, he didn't. There's a video going around on social media. I think it's like, I think it's in the early 2000s or even the late 90s. I think it's the mid 90s, actually. when Top Gear wasn't the Top Gear that everyone knows now. It was the original Top Gear. Yeah. And he was just in a car that was really fast. Or maybe he threw something or something like that, and he just goes, yeet. Right. But what does yeet mean nowadays, though?

35:30Clair Buckley:I think it means to throw something. You just yeet that out the window. Oh, is that what that means? Oh, okay. Yeah. Touch grass. Harrison said that the other day. Yeah, he did get it saying touch grass, bro. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. What does that mean? Just like, just like take a break. Log off, get real. Right. Main character energy. Yeah. Harrison's got that as well. To be fair, even though I've not coined the phrase main character energy, I have for years, because Harrison will say something like he said something once that he was at school and it was like. Oh, don't do this to him. It's funny. Oh, He exaggerates the story, does Harrison.

36:13He's a showman.

36:15Clair Buckley:He thinks he's... When he regales a tale, it's as if he's fucking Marty McFly or something. And for years I've gone... We're all just characters in Harrison the movie, aren't we? I've said that to him for years. Flex, showing off. We know that one. Ratio. Ratio? What does that mean? I mean, even the explanation, I don't understand. I think I'm so old. What does it say? Online dunking when replies slash likes outnumber original. So is that if someone's reposted something or stolen some content at jamebuckstagram on TikTok. I'm fucking coming for you, by the way. Don't think I've forgotten about you.

36:56Clair Buckley:I've tried to get you. I've tried. I've reported you. To ratio equals to outnumber someone's likes or upvotes with a reply. Oh, so the reply has got more traction than the actual post. Skrt. Skrt, skrt. I've heard that. That's a car sound, also meaning leaving quickly. Kids are fucking dumb, aren't they? Shook. This is so stupid, man. Shook. Yeah, you're shocked. Yeah, but you've said that for years. I'm shooketh. Yeah, that's what you say. I say shooketh. Yeah, I'm shooketh. Yeah, like a little Shakespearean twist on it. Like a little ye olde English. Stan. Now, I know what Stan is because that came from the Eminem song, Stan.

37:42Clair Buckley:Yeah, that makes sense, doesn't it? So it's like when you're a huge fan of somebody, yeah, you're a Stan. And here are some of the latest sayings that have recently been added to the Oxford Dictionary. Skibbity. Right. Now, this is fucking, you're playing into these pricks with this nonsense. What does skibbity mean? A slang term that can mean cool, bad, or sometimes nothing at all. Great. Perfect. I mean, that is, I mean, I am, I'm not young. I'm not a young man anymore. Because that is how I would describe Jude's, our kid's generation. Cool, bad, nothing at all. Yeah. Yeah. Skibbity toilet res.

38:28I've heard that. I don't know what that means.

38:30Clair Buckley:In 2023 on TikTok, people mashed the nonsense word Skibbity with toilet memes and distorted animation, creating the now infamous Skibbity Toilet series, which is a weird. See, I'm on Instagram all the time looking at lobster men and stuff like this. I've not had any of this come up for me. Weird CGI toilets with heads sticking out, battling humanoid cameramen. I don't know what that means. The boys have got this little toy and it's a toilet with a man's head coming out of it. It's sitting in their playroom and it's a tiny little thing. I never knew what it was. That's what that is. This is annoying, mate.

39:13I know. Can we move on?

39:14Clair Buckley:I am just getting angry. Delulu, delusional. Yeah. And trad wife, which is short for traditional wife, refers to a married woman who embraces homemaking and childcare role reflecting a controversial return to traditional gender. Oh, God forbid. They're just called wives. Yeah. No, it would be a stay-at-home. It's a stay-at-home wife. It's not a working... Well, that's why they get married, innit? Oh, shut up. I was a trad wife for many a year. Yeah, you hitch your wagon to some go-getter and you get to get up to the good life. Hitched my wagon, brought up some kids, did it all early, look at me now.

39:54Clair Buckley:Exactly Getting drunk on a Monday afternoon Talking into a microphone For some reason Life's confusing isn't it And all that's done Is made me feel Afraid And And And nervous I didn't like that Conversation Paige Whose fault is it Alan's Alan's for bringing it up No to be fair Alan You've got a really good point mate I'm terrified No the bro thing though Like Harrison and Jude Do do that to me Bro If I'm like oh sorry yeah I forgot to put the oven on dinner will be 20 minutes late bro I'm like fucking bro who are you talking to bro they're just doing it for the lulz so yeah I think it's time we move on from that little section of the podcast however I think that that was on fleek it's what the kids are saying these days aren't they well done it was a joke it was a joke Right, Claire, we've just got a little bit of time for Buckley's Law.

41:05Clair Buckley:This is a segment where we discuss the new laws that we will pass when we're in power. There'll be lots of people doing that when they hear our laws. A reminder to keep them coming in by emailing thebuckleys at platformmedia.uk or message us at the Buckley's Pod on Instagram and TikTok. But before we hear from listeners with their Buckley's laws, a quick one from us and our poor producers. Please, please stop emailing us about your bum wiping techniques. All right. It's gone too far. We've received countless emails from squatters, hoverers, scrunchers, folders, reverse cowboyers. Enough is enough.

41:51Clair Buckley:We don't need any more. Hey, how dare you? You let these people say what they want to say. No, but I think the problem is that... Nobody's replying to anything else. Yeah, we're just getting bum wiping techniques. We've got enough. We've got enough bum wiping technique. So if you were going to email us about your bum wiping technique, maybe you've got something else that you could let us know. You know, when I was a little girl at school and people used to ask me, what do you think you'll do when you grow up? I always saw myself talking to an audience, telling them to stop sending in their bum wiping techniques.

42:23I knew this is where I would end up. You were living the dream, babe. I knew this was it. You're living the dream, mate.

42:28Clair Buckley:I've got a new law or a potential law from Al. It says here, count me out. Oh. Please ban people that tell you how old their kids are in months, e.g., oh, my son is 37 months old. he's fucking three stop it yeah once it gets past the 12 month mark I don't know I think 18 months because it's that's a given yeah it's the clove size isn't it yeah they don't do it they do do it like they do say 24 months they don't say two years yeah but when you're talking to another person let's say two I suppose I've never said oh you know you don't know how old they are I do in fact I just said that Harrison's How old is he?

43:16Clair Buckley:Yeah. 13. Yeah. I'll tell you what, we've got lots of stuff to push through as soon as we get into power. Okay. I'm not sure that's going to come top of the list. I would say let's revisit it because it does sound annoying. It is annoying. Yeah. So I'm not saying no, but I'm just saying... Revisit. We'll come back to that one now. Okay. Bring it up in Parliament. Paul is here. Paulie. He just says, I don't get it. He says, hi all. I'd like to get rid of all the twats that when getting served at the coffee shop say, can I get? You can't fucking get a skinny caramel latte Beatrix. You can have one like every fucker else.

44:02Clair Buckley:When do people start asking to get things instead of asking if they can have? It's usually some fucker who looks like they work in a recruiting office. Regards, Paul the brewery manager. Paul, I'm guilty of this. I got to be honest. It's an Americanism. It's an Americanism that's infiltrated. Right. Okay. I was going to say, I don't really understand that. When I go to a McDonald's drive-thru, I go, can I get a large... That's not what we say? You should say, could I have. Right. It's an Americanism that's infiltrated. Right. I'm guilty of it. And do you know what, Paul? I'm not going to... Uh-oh.

44:38Clair Buckley:I'm going to, you know, be the change that you want to see. even though I am guilty of that, Paul, I am going to implement it. Oh, it's in? I'm going to make it a law. And should I do it, then I'll have to face the consequences. Lewis or Louis? I think that's Louis. Could be both. Well, listen, after you've done 50 ,000 cameos like I have, and somebody wants a video to Lewis, and they go, you didn't say his name right. Lewis is L-E-W-I-S. Louis is L-O-U-I-S. I'm just talking to you from experience. Okay. It can be, Google it, because I go, because I then double check it and I Google it and it goes, it can be pronounced Louie or Lewis.

45:21Clair Buckley:Okay. Subject, tidy trim. Is this for you? Is this, sorry, I was just reading it. I just wanted to make sure this wasn't a criticism of you. Says here, hi guys, love the podcast. When you get into power, can you make it a law that everyone. When? Did he say when? When you get into power, can you make it the law that everyone must keep their bushes trimmed? Oh, come on. So this is something that you're guilty of, isn't it? You can't do it all the time. Whilst walking the dog, we pass several houses. Oh, sorry. Because you can't do it all the time. It hurts. You've got to wait a certain amount of time until it grows out.

46:04Otherwise, you end up all...

46:05Clair Buckley:But yours grows back in five minutes. Listen. I've got Italian heritage I'm a very thick haired woman Whilst out walking the dog we pass several houses where the bushes hang over the pavement meaning we have to walk on the road There's a couple of places in my life where the bush where there's already where there's already a thin pavement to walk on on a busy road mind I think you know what I'm talking about It's near the co-op Yes And the person's house is bush. I'm not joking. He's taking up half of an already thin, dangerous road pavement where there's kids. Yeah. There's all sorts going on.

46:51Yeah.

46:52Clair Buckley:And you have to. You have to do this thing. And by the way, it's about 25 yards. It takes up how long it is. And you have to do like, you know, like oncoming traffic sort of thing. you have to stand there and wait for people to walk through and it's a whole thing all the time it's like no go on you come through yeah get your fucking bush trimmed is what I want to say it's getting in the way it's stopping me from doing what I'm trying to do it makes everything a lot more that's the problem it's just that you don't know when you get to that bush you don't know where you're fucking gone you don't know whether you're going back and forward or straight and back, you just don't understand it maybe, I can't see where I'm going maybe you just don't know what you're doing I've just said it's already treacherous and dangerous as it is, I want to be able to see what's on the other side sometimes you should have learned how to do that a long time ago before we got to this point and that's why there's no point in trimming it, because there's always some idiot coming through who doesn't know what they're doing anyway anyway well this this Lou I'm just gonna call you Lou this this is this is up for debate that one we'll again we'll come back to it right that's it for this week's episode of the Buckleys thank you so much for listening really thank you and remember that you can get in touch with your stories and questions by emailing thebuckleys at platformmedia.uk or you can message us at the Buckleys pod on Instagram and TikTok and don't forget that's a burp that's a burp and don't forget to follow and subscribe to the show on Spotify or whatever podcast app that you like to use might I suggest Spotify and if you're feeling extra generous why not go ahead and leave us a review all that is left is for Claire to say see you next Thursday thanks guys thanks for listening that was a podcast go on the Chafedons Chafedons make spots our back please Chafedons
