In short
The Buckleys riff on superhero fatigue and franchise “money-grabbing” (too many Marvel films to keep up), then swap dream interpretations and superpower preferences. They also read listener emails about petty revenge, plus a “hot dog vs sandwich” debate follow-up.
Guests
No named guests. Hosts are James Buckley and Claire Buckley.
Guest backgrounds
Not applicable (no external guests). James and Claire are TV/entertainment personalities who’ve attended Comic Con and worked in TV.
Key claims
Superhero universes require watching many films to understand later installments; Marvel’s sheer volume is overwhelming (37 MCU feature films; 75+ Marvel-based theatrical movies in 20 years). Comic Cons are fan-friendly and not embarrassing. Petty revenge can be “supervillain” but justified.
Notable examples
Claire’s dream of tiny horses (interpreted as “suppressed power”); Comic Con experiences meeting stars like Tommy Flanagan (“Chibs”); revenge stories on a train seat-sharer, an ex who “pretended you didn’t exist,” and hiding business cards in an ex’s belongings.

Transcript
Automatic transcript. May contain errors.0:00Maybe we're all a bit fed up with the superhero stuff. What if you were offered a role in a superhero film? You've got to do it, haven't you, I suppose? Love the Jackman. Hugh. Love huge. Love huge Jackman. If a guy elbowed me... You would have John Wicked him, wouldn't you? I would have f***ing taken that laptop and smacked him in the face with you. Pretend like I don't exist. No, no, no, hun. Now you never did exist.
33Bless you. Bless you. Hello and welcome to the Buckleys. The podcast where we sit down, have a chat, moan a bit and invite you into our lives. Gotta go again? Look at a light. Before we get into it, we just want to remind you that you can get in touch with your stories and questions for us by emailing thebuckleys at platformmedia.uk or you can message us at thebuckleyspod on Instagram and TikTok. And don't forget to follow and subscribe to the show on Spotify or whatever podcast app that you like to use. And if you do, for some reason, enjoy this show. Give us a glowing review. I thought you were going to say shit.
04What? I thought you were going to say if you enjoy this shit. Well, yeah. Give us a review. We'd appreciate it. I've got a tickly nose now as well. I mean, it might be a bit hay fever-y going about. You wouldn't know. No, I wouldn't know, mate. Don't have hay fever. No. Too big and hard. Too tough. Too tough to be beaten by a flower. I just don't have it. I feel sorry for MD who does. I know it's a nightmare. I just don't have it. She's built different, isn't she? Yeah. How are you? I'm all right. Yeah. How are you? Tired. Yeah. Do you not have anything to moan about? Not really. I can't think of anything off the top of my head.
44Wow. Well, you know, I moaned at you a while ago for always telling me your dreams, didn't I? Yeah. Yeah, you hate it when I tell you about dreams. I hate it. It's annoying when people tell their dreams, right? Yeah. But I just have to mention this, and I genuinely just actually want to tell you, because I keep forgetting, and it's so weird. I had this really weird dream last night. I'll cut it as short as I can and I'll just tell you the main bit. Right. Me and you were in a car and the front, I was in the back and the front passenger window was down and the back other window was down and I was sitting over there and I had two tiny little horses.
29Right. They were like baby puppy horses And I loved them so much But they kept nearly falling out the open windows And I had to keep grabbing them and bringing them in And it was really stressing me out And I woke up and I was like What the fuck That's it Isn't that the weirdest thing? That's really trippy I'm sure it will mean something And I think listeners might be able to help you out Yeah, if we've got any dream experts, then you know what that means. There'll be some sort of... The horses will represent something. But they were tiny little cute, and I felt like I was really worried about them falling out, and they kept slipping out, and I had to keep grabbing their legs and pulling them in.
16Oh, here we go. Listen to this. Dreaming of tiny miniature or baby horses represents suppressed power, budding potential, or an emerging situation you currently view as manageable? What was the first one? Suppressed power. Suppressed power. Yeah, I think that's it. Because I was driving you. Yeah. I was your driver. Yeah. And I don't know why we didn't just put the windows up. I was just your chauffeur. Yeah. But they were tiny, cute, little, tiny horses and I just had to keep, it was really stressing me out that they were going to fall out. Yeah. Weird. Well you do want to keep hold of your tiny horses You do yeah No one's jumping out the car No I would be like I mean I don't know why I wasn't doing the windows up You weren't Yeah you weren't bothered I wasn't bothered No If I had some tiny little miniature horses I'd be like keep hold of them We're going to be millionaires Literally like this size And they were so cute And I loved them Like the intensity of having to save them was a lot We could get like mice to ride them Good Yeah well we've got loads of them in the garage Oh yeah anyway I just thought I'd share that I don't know what it is I think it means something yeah I don't know I think it means you need a break Claire I want to talk to you about Comic Con Comic Con?
35no Comic Con right okay what about it? because it's summertime Comic Con is sort of beginning and it always coincides with your big blockbusters films your summer blockbuster the summer movie yeah well we've got Spider-Man this coming out is that right yeah we got Supergirl's just come out what's that Supergirl oh I don't know I don't know how I've never heard it right yeah I'm just telling you it's a film Supergirl alright it's like Superman yeah but the female equivalent got it wouldn't that be Superwoman why is she a girl no because I do think she's young right okay but you are right slightly patronising there's a bit isn't it there was no super boy I think there is there must be there must be a super I know there was a super dog wasn't there there was a super dog yeah yeah I think this film's not done very well Supergirl?
36yeah why? people caning it already I think it's not done well at the box office apparently and my advice is to that maybe we're all a bit fed up with the super hero stuff all I hear is like box office office flop new superhero film cost a hundred trillion dollars to make has only made 30 quid over the weekend right that's all I hear that's all I hear those stories so I mean the customers are saying get arrested for a bit do something different what if you were offered a role in a superhero film you've got to do it haven't you I suppose you've got to do it what would you rather be a hero or a villain hero obviously yeah much rather be a hero but you gotta sign up for like a Marvel thing yeah because then it's like it's regular work then for the next 20 years of your life yeah they do because you'll you'll end up in someone else's spin off of something and then then they'll make a TV show out of it yeah you should be like fucking yeah sign me up to that this is my problem with these films because obviously our boys watch the superhero films right and I actually don't mind them I quite like a superhero film.
51I only like certain ones. Sure. I like the Spider-Mans. Batman. I liked, yeah, Batman. I liked Iron Man. Iron Man ones are good. The Iron Man films. But it got to like Iron Man 3 or 4 or whatever it was, like one of the later ones. And they were like picking up from somewhere. That's what I was about to say. Because I hadn't watched Avengers. Thor, yeah. That's what I was about to say. Yeah, Thor. There's so many different universes that they all dip in and out of that unless you watch everything, you don't really know what's going on with the character. I think that's really cynical and really...
32It's annoying. I think there's something quite evil about it. Where it's like, I know you like Iron Man, but you're going to have to sit through all these other films to enjoy the next Iron Man film. So give us more money. And it really is icky. Is that how they talk? Yeah, over at Disney. Yeah, we want your money. Okay. But it's out of order. Yeah. I'll tell you what films. It's like kids' TV shows. I used to love Power Rangers. And you'd get a Power Rangers toy, but for it to work, you had to get the thing that's attached to the other thing, and then you buy them all, and they all make one great big thing.
10And there's something really grim about that. It's really sort of money-grabby. Check out that number that's just been added. There are currently 37 official feature films in the Marvel Universe. To be fair, I thought there would be more. No one's got time for that. That's a lot, but I thought there would be more. That's more than Bond films. Yeah, way more, surely. There's more Marvel films than Bond films, and they started making the Bond films in the 60s. Yeah, yeah. It's because there's so many different heroes and universes. If you include non-MCU releases like the standalone X-Men, Spider-Men or Deadpool franchises, the total number of live action and animated Marvel based theatrical movies exceeds 75.
00That's crazy. And that's like in the last 20 years. That's crazy. Although I will say. There's too many. I really like the X-Men films. Yeah, the X-Men films were great. I like X-Men and I like the Wolverine films. Yeah, the Wolverine films are brilliant. Love those films. Love the Jackman. Hugh. Love huge. Love huge Jackman. He's great. The Jackal. I've been to a Comic Con. You have been to Comic Con? Yeah. Yeah. I was sort of a bit worried about it. Where was that? Liverpool? Liverpool, I think, yeah. Yeah. And I was a bit anxious about it. Wasn't it you and Joe? Me, Joe and Bert. Simon, yeah.
40Blake wasn't there. and we did an in-betweeners booth and the car was there and stuff. It was quite cool. Yeah. But I was really, really nervous about it because I was just like, oh, this is going to be really embarrassing. Because nobody's going to cry. We're just going to be sat at a table for 12 hours and going, do you want to... Please come and say hi. No, but you were very busy. We were super busy. Yes. It was amazing. It was. It made you feel really good. I was like, the three of us that were there were like, Fucking hell, this is... It sort of blows your mind a little bit. Yeah. Especially when you consider how old the Inbetweeners is.
16True. And there was, like, big stars there. People from Game of Thrones and Walking Dead and... I was about to say... Sons of Anarchy. You met one of my favourites. Chibs. Oh, Tommy Flanagan. Yeah. I love him. So you had all these big stars there and everyone was coming over to see little old us. And it was... Yeah, I liked it. Liked it a lot. Yeah. Good. And it was genuinely quite fun. I didn't know what I thought it was going to be I felt really silly for being Were people walking around all dressed up and stuff? Yeah, there was all that But I didn't know I genuinely felt really silly for feeling worried about doing it Yeah, everybody was dead nice Everyone was great Well, I suppose everybody's there for the same thing, isn't it?
58Like they're all there to see Yeah, everyone's just there because they're fans of stuff Yeah It's quite a good idea, actually Oh, it's brilliant It's really brilliant And there is just, you know whether or not they're fans of the Inbetweeners or whatever, there's just a feel-good where everyone's going, oh, isn't this great? And we get to see all these people that we like watching off the television. Yeah, I've seen a lot of videos of one of my other favourites, Matthew Lillard, who was in Scream. Yeah, Shaggy. Yeah, but him and Billy. I can't remember Billy's real name now. Skeet Ulrich? Yeah.
33And those two who were, I mean, spoiler alert, in the first scream surely you've got to be able to say that I know I don't think people get really annoyed about stuff like that those two were in scream edit that last bit out those two were in scream, Billy and Stu and they've been doing comic cons and I would love to go and meet them I would love that, that would be so fun it is a real thrill I was the same even though I was there and I was getting paid to be there did you go a little wander Yeah, but I was still, but you get in the lift with them all and stuff. You come down all together and things and you bump into all these people, like Chibs and stuff.
15Chibs, man. I was chatting to him and stuff. You got me an autograph? Yeah, yeah. You do sort of go, God, this is really exciting. Yeah. Because I'm, as much as I've worked in TV, I'm still more of a fan of television than I am. You know, I watch television every single day. You do. I've done for my whole life. You do, yeah. Yeah. if you got to pick right if the the whole superhero movie world opened up and said we want James Buckley he can play whoever he wants in whatever film he wants what would you go for oh that's a good one probably Spider-Man would you yeah I think out of all of them that's the one that I could maybe do the best job on and I still wouldn't like I I can appreciate that I'm not going to get cast Spider-Man anytime soon.
06No, it's just a hypothetical. They've got all different universes, isn't they? That's true. So there might be the sort of unfit, slightly chubby Spider-Man. Well, there is. And you didn't watch this, but me and the boys watched the Miles Morales thing. Yeah, Peter Parker in that is a big lazy... I know, I bought all the toys for it. Don't worry. When Christmas came around. Yeah. Trying to get those. Well, I saw something the other day. It's the new Spider-Man poster. and Tom Holland is upside down and the picture's taken from above and he's hanging off a building and there's footprints Oh, I've seen this, yeah.
43That are Jordan's. It's the Jordan's footprint. Which is what Miles wears. Yeah. So he could be in the new one. See, I quite like all this stuff. I'd like to work with him. Who? Holland? Yeah. I love Tom Holland. I imagine I'd get on really well with him. I can't imagine anyone not getting on with him. I think he's a really good actor. Yeah, he's great. He's great at accents. Oh, he's brilliant. Good actor. I like Zendaya as well. I love her. She's so purdy. He's brilliant. I'd love to do a job with him. Maybe if I say it a lot. Maybe if I say it a lot. Come on, Tom. Get in touch. Put it out in the universe.
17I just think that would be genuinely quite fun. Yeah. He could maybe teach me how to act and stuff. He could play like your little brother or something, I think. Well, yeah. Or my twin brother or something. Biggest laugh in the room. To be fair, I'll take little brother. how old is he I could probably play his dad couldn't I no I think he's like 30 31 I think he just looks really young he's got the old oil of olay going on he does good for him yeah if you could have any superpower in the world what would it be and why okay I would want two can I have two yeah I was going to say can I have two no two can I have just one yeah so being invisible yeah love that telekinesis right Try it.
03Yeah, telekinesis would be a good one. I'd love that. I'd love it. Telekinesis, yeah, that would really help me out. I'd never have to leave the bed. Yeah. Yeah. That would be really good. Mine would be, well, instant travel. Yeah. Just to be able to click your fingers and be in New York or something like that. Yeah. I knew you were going to see New York. Yeah. Because you could get a job anywhere. You could, yeah. but also just well hold on though if you're going on holiday how do you get all your stuff with you? How do you get your suitcase there? That's a good point. Can you take anything that you touch?
41This is what people do they just add in their own stuff. Alright yeah anything that you're holding it comes with you. Because then I could bring you with me as well. Aww.
53And also I would like to be able to just well I suppose it's sort of like the instant travel thing but just for my shit what per yeah so like i'll have a shit in the my colon the lower colon or wherever it goes i'm not a doctor no and i'll be like oh i gotta have a shit now and i'll be like watching the football or something something that you can't leave the tv for because it's live right and then i'll just go and the shit goes from my bowel to the toilet How does it get there? Does it have to travel through the room? No, no, it's just... Is it going to have to go by me? No, it's just instant.
38It's just... Right. It's there one minute and its atoms and things disappear and it reappears. Like Willy Wonka when he does the chocolate bar from one bit to the next. Sort of. Oh, that would be a good one. I'd like to eat whatever I wanted and not gain weight. Yeah. That would be a good superpower. I just think they need to just make a food that tastes nice, that makes you lose weight. Drink as much as you want and don't get high over. Oh. Oh. Yeah. These little bits. Yeah, I'd take that now. I'd take that. But YouGov published a survey where Brits picked their dream superpowers. I've got the top eight here.
20Okay. So the first one is invisibility. Yeah. But then to be able to fly? Yeah. three teleportation see I'd rather that's sort of what you were saying yeah I'd rather teleportation than flying yeah me too yeah me too you know what I mean because even if you were like falling off a cliff you'd just go I'll just teleport back on top of it again or at the bottom yeah well whatever yeah depends where you've parked yeah that's the thing I wouldn't have even had to have walked up that cliff no you you just teleport back to the couch yeah doesn't matter where I parked don't need a car anymore you don't need a car healing powers it's a bit soppy for me yeah let me heal you yeah fuck off it's your own fault you should have got should have got teleportation you idiot that's why you fell off the cliff you wouldn't have hit the ground yeah the ability to read minds don't want that that feels like a burden I would like that I would like that that's the last thing I need is to know what you really think of me that's true that is true that's going to shatter any kind that is true confidence that I have the ability to see the future don't want that as well that's too heavy no I don't want that too stressful yeah I don't want that and then super strength I wouldn't mind super strength that would be handy I'd like super strength yeah yeah you missed time travel oh did I yeah again time travel because I would like that time travel then you're getting into shit I'd only go back though no but then you're going to fuck things up I wouldn't touch anything no but you don't know you don't know what's going to happen and then you come back and it's like oh where's Harrison and I go who's Harrison oh no oh god that made me sadder than my baby hossies that's what I mean you don't you don't want to fuck around with the time space continuum fine don't know what that means here's some shit superpowers oh these are real these are some genuine superheroes not real with less than superpowers colour kid can change the colour of anything how's that what's he using that for well here you go I've got it straight away and I feel like this is the most useful it could ever be painting a room maybe yeah actually that's that is great you'd be like I really want this just to be all white and just go that's more useful than what I was going to say I could just change the colour of my clothes and then it looked like I was wearing different clothes yeah that's true I mean that's a shit superpower but yeah so these are real comic book characters arm fall off boy unique ability to detach his limbs and use them as weapons.
57Okay. When's that? I don't know. I feel like that's a real detriment to yourself. Yeah, that's not a superpower. That's a real... Does he know he could batter somebody while his arm's attached? Yeah. There's Squirrel Girl, has squirrel-like abilities and can control squirrels. Now, I don't... An army of squirrels might be tough. I would like... That's reminded me of another one. I would like to be able to talk to animals. Yeah. That would be good. Dr. Doolittle. I'd love to be able to talk to my dog. I would like that. Yeah, but imagine being able to go on safari and you can talk to the lion. You're like, listen, if you just let me ride on your back for five minutes, I'll, you know, feed you James.
43Right. There's infectious lass. She's Scottish. She's immune to all known diseases, native or alien in origin, but can spread diseases easily. Wow, it's dark. Some people online have been suggesting shit superhero powers. You can vomit money. I wish I had that last night before I went to bed. We'd be rich today. We wouldn't be here doing this. That's for sure. Your farts can put nearby people to sleep. I'd never be awake. Yeah, everyone would be knocked out in my house. Never be awake. You can grow your arms and legs as long as you want, but they will stay that long. Well, that's terrible. Nobody's going to do that then.
30You can fly, but you feel the full effort of flapping your arms for as long as you're flying. You wouldn't get very far then, would you? No. No, that's not a good one. No, that's rubbish. Let's chat about supervillains quickly, Claire, before we move on. Well, see, if I was to be in a superhero film, I'd want to be the villain for sure. there's so much more fun Catwoman was she a villain or was she good in the end? She was complicated She was, yeah She was a villain with a good heart Who's your favourite Catwoman? Pfeiffer Is it? Yeah What other ones are there? Halle Berry Oh, I've never seen that film Have you ever seen the the video somebody took when they were filming that and you know the bit where she with a whip she'd think he's all the mannequin's heads off you know she really did that She did it like first time or something.
21I was watching that and I was like, it's cool. Michelle, call me. Listen, let's have a quick swipe, Claire. All right, swipe. Claire, I've got a couple of listener emails here for you. Great. I'm about to read it. Just quickly, though. Yeah. I just went to the loo there. Yeah, how are you doing? I'm all right. Do you know what? I'm always like, I always forget that I've had a Barocca.
16oh yeah it's bright yellow because i looked down i was like jesus christ i was like oh yeah i had a barocca yeah can i tell you something about having a barocca because we like a little barocca sometimes in the morning i is this really childish but i really look forward to peeing later yeah it's fun it's a weird color it's fun it does make you feel good it does bring a smile to your face um but we have got some correspondence claire from our listeners wow okay now a while ago we really did put the cat amongst the pigeons. Uh-oh, what did we do? We had a very serious debate and we've had some responses.
53What debate? Well, let me remind you. Okay. Here's an email from James. James says, good name, strong name. James says, currently watching the episode and the conversation about hot dogs being a sandwich or not. Not hot dog. Not hot dog. The hot dog debate, right. So James says, I just wanted to point out the Scottish slang option, a piece. A piece, absolutely. It's like a sandwich, but it's a single piece of bread folded over. Is that right? I guess, but I call a sandwich a piece. As someone else from Ayrshire, Claire should know this term well. Yeah, a piece and butter. Yeah, because you're always like, oh, do you want a piece and ham?
40Yeah, yeah. But it's never just been that little folded over thing that you do for kids. I do that Jude that's how Jude takes his sandwiches he likes one bit of bread shoves some ham in it fold it over squash it down just give him it do you know what I don't mind that way of making sandwiches sometimes especially if it's chocolate spread because you can put like a load of chocolate spread in it and then you fold it over and then when you take that first bite it's all like bursting it's great that's how I make my Chris sandwiches just put them on one side and fold it he's just a bit disappointed in me for not mentioning a piece sorry James James, I do apologise.
17I've got another message here from Tom who says, Dear the Buckleys and team, greetings from the Highlands. I would like, we've really struck a cold with the Scots people, with this hot dog. We love a good debate. I would like to talk to you about your sausages, specifically the divisive debate you had as to whether a hot dog is a sandwich. Now I would also, just to complicate things even more, suggest that a hot dog and a sausage are different things. Oh, absolutely they are. You guys have a habit of bringing up subjects that get me fired up, and this was certainly one. Allow me to elaborate. A sandwich consists of slices of bread, or a bread roll if you're feeling nonchalant.
03Nonchalant. Ah, whatever, bread roll. With a key ingredient and accessories, salad, cheese, et cetera, in between. Right, yeah. Anything else is an imposter. When you look at a lunch menu in a restaurant, they differentiate between sandwiches, toasties, paninis, wraps. That's what I said. And baguettes are genuinely in their own category altogether. And where are hot dogs? Nowhere to be seen. And if they are anywhere, they are listed with the other mains because they know their place. Also, if you were at a barbecue and asked for a sausage sandwich and someone handed you a hot dog, you would slap the taste out of their mouth.
44Yeah, yeah. I apologise for raising my voice. It's all right, Tom, it's a written message. But this really grips my shit. P.S. Hot dogs are not sandwiches. Love you, Tom. Okay, but just to clarify though, we said that as well. Were you on the fence? Were you sitting on it? Well, let's look at Tom's... Were you sitting on the hot dog? Let's look at Tom's definition. definition of a sandwich. Yeah. Slices of bread or a bread roll. If you're nonchalant. If you're nonchalant. With a key ingredient and accessories in between. So you could get a bread roll. I see where you're going with this. And you could get a sausage and some onions.
34And some mustard. And that's the definition, according to Tom, of a sandwich. That's Tom's, what I have described there, Claire, which you might not have noticed. I described as a hot dog. I used Tom's definition against him. Yeah. So unlucky, Tom. Try again. One nil. My big, beautiful brain beat you. No, a hot dog's not a sandwich. Right, let's have a quick little swipe. swipe the old podcast and we'll be back with a feature you ready? whenever you're ready ok when you're ready I'm ready now Claire it's time for a feature and this week it's Petty Revenge Petty Revenge Petty Revenge Petty Revenge Oh, what a lovely little feeling.
33Let's hear what the listeners are scheming. Aww, that's you, Peach. That's you, Peach. That's your best work. We're going to do things a little bit differently because we've been talking about heroes and villains, Claire. Yeah. I'm going to read the stories and I want your take. Right? Okay. Their revenge stories. Right. And I want you to decide whether they're a hero or a villain. Okay. All right. Right. So first up, I've got a book here from... Rebecca's written us a novel. Yeah, it better be good if it's long. Well, Rebecca says, Hi, James and Claire, I have a... Oh, this is going to be even longer.
19Hi, James and Claire, I have a petty revenge story for you. Picture the scene. It's a Tuesday afternoon, 2pm to be exact. and I'm on a packed train back to Newcastle from Birmingham after working away. I'd booked an aisle seat and luckily the window seat next to me was empty. So I enjoyed a bit of extra room. Not for long. An older couple came down the carriage looking for seats. Right. There they. There weren't any together. So I offered to move into the window seat so the husband could sit next to his wife who'd found the aisle seat opposite me. Right, got you. He thanked me, sat down, unwrapped his tinfoil sandwiches, cheese on brown seeded bread, if you're wondering, and pulled out a miniature horse.

10No. And pulled out... Stop! Because there's something weird going on. That's mean sun. And pulled out a miniature bottle of red wine, which he proceeded to drink straight from the bottle. Oh, I love him. I remember thinking, a bit much for a Tuesday afternoon, but you do you. Oh, come on Becky. Anyway, I had some work to finish so I got my laptop out. I hate working on trains but I also had to take a call with my manager. I followed all the unwritten train etiquette. Headphones in, indoor voice, camera angled so the man wasn't in shot which actually meant I was practically pressed against the window because he'd already claimed both armrests.
48Red flag already. Aye, but so's taking a work call. She's interrupting Red Wine time. Listen, I can tell the kind of lady she is. Okay. She wouldn't be using her phone on the quiet carriage. I'm quietly talking away when, out of nowhere, this man jabs me quite sharply with his elbow, clicks his fingers in my face to get my attention, and points one very cheesy sandwich finger about an inch from my nose and loudly goes, Shh! Oh, no. Oh, no. He's lost me. About ten minutes later, Karma started doing her thing. Mr Cheesefinger had fallen fast asleep. Not only was he man-spreading so much that I was practically sat in the window frame, but he was snoring.
36So I decided it was only fair he experienced the same courtesy he'd shown me. Absolutely. I gave the loudest ahem I've ever produced. He opened one eye. I stared straight at him until we made full eye contact. Then I slowly put my finger to my lips and shushed him. Needless to say, he didn't get back to sleep. We both got off at Newcastle. Oh, it took a sexy time. We both got off with each other. And I walked home feeling incredibly smug. Love you both. Love the pod. and the tour in the tune was absolutely class. Yeah, that was a good one, that one. Oh, you were there? That was a good one. Please come back soon.
21Lots of love, Becky. Yeah, good crowd up in Newcastle. It was, that was a good one. So, there's some twists. Good story in the end. I know I was taking the piss. I feel bad about taking the piss over how long that email was, but it was a good story. It had a bit of everything. There was twists and turns. Because at first, I was loving the wee fella with his cheese sandwich and his wee bottle of red. There's one thing that did it for me because also I was against her with a phone call. She'd moved. Fine, she did. She specifically wanted an aisle seat. She ended up having a window seat. That's fine, but the work FaceTime on the laptop is annoying.
57No, but that happens on long train journeys. True, very true. That's why they have tables. That's why those train journeys have tables. Fine. The trains that we usually get don't have tables or anything. Yeah, right, fine. And when people are just fucking taking over every seat to turn it into their travel office. Okay. But there was one move that would have ended it all for me. Punch. You just go straight for violence, didn't you? Stab him in the eye. As soon as he opened that one eye, you'd go... No! Rebecca said that he elbowed her. Yeah. Who the fuck? What? Well, yeah. Absolutely not. Yeah.
36Absolutely not. But also the pointing of the finger. Yeah, too much. Really bad. But if somebody put their hands on me, if a guy elbowed me... You would have John Wicked him, wouldn't you? I would have fucking taken that laptop and smacked him in the face with it. You would have just been sat next to him and you would have just gone...
57And then catched his head and just sort of put it back. And then just be like, oh, he's fast asleep. Too much red. Yeah. He's had too much wine. And look, he spilled it all down himself. dripping onto the floor. Oh dear. What a shame. Yeah, no, she's a hero. In fact, I think she was a bit too calmer, but I would have been furious. And also, as soon as he fell asleep and started snoring, she should have elbowed him. Well, she didn't. No, she didn't. She took the high road. Yeah, but she did say, ahem. Yeah, she woke him up. She did everything right. Yeah, okay. That's why she's the hero. She didn't do one thing wrong there.
35Okay. And this is from Fiona. Fiona says, Hey, Buckleys, here's my petty revenge. My ex thought it was a lovely idea to pretend like I didn't exist, making dating profiles and chatting away to other girls, including a friend of mine who was the one to dob her in. Right. This started off. I thought that this was going to this was actually giving me an idea. When it said my ex thought it was a lovely idea to pretend like I didn't exist. I was thinking, oh, it'd be funny if I go in tonight and I just pretend that Claire's not there. I just keep walking around the house and just sort of keep bumping into her.
07I was like, I feel like that's a really, that would really wind her up. Like you'd ask me a question or something. You'd be like, oh, do you want, I'm at the fridge. Do you want, do you want a, you know, a fruit shoot or something? And I would just. You do like a little fruit shoot. I do like a fruit shoot. You'll be like, do you want a fruit shoot or something? And I'll just ignore you. And then you'll, then you'll like then move away from the fridge and then I'll go to the fridge and get myself a fruit shoot. Yeah. I was like, God, that would really wind her up. But you do stuff like that anyway.
35you did something very similar the other day what was it because I bought um mints and I said I'm gonna make because I make I do make really good homemade kebabs yeah right I have mastered it you've done the the social media viral thing they rolled them up and bake in it does work really well and put them in the oven anyway I kept saying to James I'm gonna make kebabs tonight is that alright is everybody cool with that well kids whatever and you were like I was like I sort of wanted something fun I sort of wanted to order something I said right fine and then he was sitting looking through his phone and he went ooh I think I'm going to get a kebab and I just look at you and I'm just like I don't know I didn't know whether you'd heard me or not because I just went because you were like I'm making kebabs tonight and I basically said no I don't want your shit food yeah you did I want to order a KFC or something yeah and I was looking through the Deliveroo app thing yeah and I just went ooh am I going to get a kebab and then I and then I had to look up to see if you were and you were staring at me.
37It's terrifying. Anyway, the pay revenge. Sorry, Fiona, we need to get to your petty revenge. My pay revenge was to shred her passport, birth certificate and school and college certificates. Pretend like I don't exist. No, no, no, hun. Now you never did exist. Love the podcast, guys. Fiona. listen listen i do kind of like it but i think that's a bit far in it is it not illegal to do stuff that sounds like it could be illegal possibly the birth certificate's bad you can't get that back well you can get another one but if it's the original one i mean that's that don't you know don't go on dating websites or whatever it's called yeah oh so that's such a silly thing to do like surely you would get you're gonna get caught somebody's gonna see you anyway what we're saying Fiona superhero or supervillain I think that is revenge I think supervillain but not in a bad way no a good villain because it genuinely you know the sentence pretend like I don't exist pretend like I don't exist no no no hun now you never did exist yeah you gotta give it to her yeah that's great that's supervillain but in a good way perfect Right, I've got one last one for you, Claire.
01Have you got time? Do you remember we used to do that in chat shows quite a lot? Time for one more question? Have you got time for one more question after the break? I feel like they used to do that in American chat shows quite a lot. Sure, I'll stick around. You're going to stick around? Yeah, I'll stick around. Go on. This is from Gabrielle. I have a petty revenge story for the podcast. I had just been broken up with by a guy I really cared about. A few days later, we both ended up on separate drunken nights out and one you up phone call somehow led me back to his house for one last goodbye.
33Right. Sorry, I didn't get that. You up as in you come and run. You're still awake. Come and run for bonus night. Yeah. Now, this is where heartbreak and pettiness collided. Now, before I left the next morning, I took around 50 of my work business cards and hid them everywhere inside pillowcases, under lamps, under the mattress and fitted sheet. in his guitar case, under his amps, in every jumper and pants pocket, under his keyboard and mouse. I even hid one in the tiny crotch pocket of his underwear. What? What's a crotch pocket? The Y front. You know, the little bit that opens. That's not a pocket.
12That's the opposite of a pocket. Well, yeah, yeah. This man is going to be finding little reminders of me for the next year of his life. Love the pod, guys. Gabrielle, I feel like you could have gone a bit further. No, you could have went further. Come on. You could have gone further. I don't think that was petty enough. No, not for me. Oh, Claire.
