In short

The Buckleys chat about a recent Oasis concert, “grim” everyday gross-out things they’ve seen, listener baby-name advice (for a girl), and the theme “immortalised” via celebrity/local recognition (Idris Elba’s Dagenham paving stone, plus their own ideas for being remembered). They also do “petty revenge” stories, including shaving eyebrows and messing up an ex’s Friends DVD box set.

Guests

No guests appear. The hosts are Claire and James Buckley (with recurring references to friends/family like Joe Thomas, Mark, and their brothers).

Key claims

Oasis gig “exceeded the hype”; James nearly looks like he’s cuddling a woman in a crowd video due to perspective; Dagenham has produced notable talent; Idris Elba was honoured by Barking and Dagenham College; petty revenge is harmless because eyebrows grow back.

Notable examples

Used plaster in the street; bogey “graveyard” on a headboard; Joe Hart aggressively kicking a set doll; Thought Park entrance sign immortalising “Pussay patrol” car; listener suggests “Stella” (with middle name Artois/Buckley) for a girl; Angela’s Nair eyebrow prank; Ryan’s Friends DVD season/disc sabotage and snapped disc.

You sent a message, and it turned out the seller was super chatty, kind of funny, and an avid cyclist.

0:44The next thing you know, you're in a cycling crew. Well, a community cycling group. The thing about Facebook, you might find more than what you're looking for. From a browse to a bike ride, this summer, find more on Facebook. This episode is brought to you by Nordstrom. For 125 years, Nordstrom has been part of your story. The stylist who found the perfect outfit for your big interview. The first pair of walking shoots for your one-year-old. The tomato soup you shared with your sister at the cafe. These are the moments that make Nordstrom, Nordstrom. Big or small, we're here for all of it. Celebrating 125 years with new moments still ahead.

1:25Discover it all in Nordstrom stores and at Nordstrom.com. Right, I'm just going to say it. We love Popeyes. How could you not? I mean, the chicken, the crunch, the New Orleans flavour. I'm dribbling just thinking about it. Yeah, you are. Well, you know it's serious when we start daydreaming about their chicken sandwich. Don't get me started on the chicken sandwich. It's the best. It all started back in New Orleans in the 70s. Proper Louisiana roots, proper southern flavour. Then they came to the UK in 2021 and they've already got 75 restaurants here. and every time they open a new one, it's a massive deal.

2:02There are queues down the streets. Have you seen it? Yeah, I have. I know you were there. They serve their New Orleans-style menu featuring the infamous chicken sandwich that literally broke the internet, plus wings, tenders and traditional biscuits served with gravy. Their chicken tastes so good because it's 100 % fresh, marinated for 12 hours and hand-breaded and battered on site for that iconic Shatter Crunch coating. Oh, I think my stomach just rumbled. Sorry about that. So if you haven't tried it yet or you're already hooked like us, Popeyes is offering the Buckley's listeners a tasty little treat.

2:37Yep. You get£5 off when you spend£15 or more on the Popeyes app using the promo code Buckley's. That's B-U-C-K-L-E-Y-S. You know how to spell it. That's how you spell it. Honestly, trust us, just try the sandwich. You'll be licking your fingers and possibly the phone screen as you order. Well, trying not to do that is a bit gross I'll make no promises, Claire You were nearly served divorce papers Is that right? Mm-hmm What for? What have I done there? You nearly died, son, you don't even know it You're always f***ing banging on about Dagenham I grew up next to the fold factory, Claire A lot of talent has come from Dagenham Does Dagenham have a museum?

3:17I don't know, there should be though Maybe if Dagenham's got a museum, you should have a little plaque Tell you something, baby There has been a couple of times where I needed people's help and then know where they'll be sent. All right? Friends, overrated. Get rid.

3:34Should we start then? Sure. Are you okay? I'm all right. Hello and welcome to The Buckleys, the podcast where we sit down, have a chat, moan a bit and invite you into our lives. Before we do get into it, we just want to remind you that you can get in touch with your stories and questions for us by emailing thebuckleys at platformmedia.uk or you can message us at thebuckleyspod on Instagram and TikTok. And don't forget to follow and subscribe to the show on Spotify or whatever podcast app you like to use. And if you do enjoy the show, why not go ahead and leave us a review? A five star one, please.

4:01Thank you. Claire, you all right? Yeah. Dribbling a little bit. Go on. What's up? How are you? Fine. It's happening. Hot. It's hot, man. Boiling in it. It's hot. That's it, man. It is hot. It is hot as balls in here. Yeah, in this room as well. And we had a conversation earlier about, because there's a big air con unit up there, but we can't have it on because it interferes with the sound. Yeah. And they'll complain, so we're sweating for you. Yeah. I think they appreciate it. Better. I think they appreciate it. How are you, Claire? What's going on? What's been going on? What the fuck's going on?

4:36What are we doing here? What is going on? You tell me. Well, usually we talk about what we've been up to this week. Yeah. What have you been up to, Matt? Oh, come on. Tell everybody. Well, I went to see Oasis, didn't I, with Joe Thomas there? Who? Oasis. And it was brilliant. Was it? It was absolutely brilliant. I'm not being I'm genuinely being objective I know I'm the world's biggest Oasis fan Yeah It was really really good A good gig Liam sounded great It was just a great big sing along Right It exceeded the hype Did it? Yeah I didn't go did I? No you didn't Because we got a couple of those What do you call them That you need to look after?

5:16Children That's right yeah Yes You've got the old children there Only one of us could go So I went with Joe Thomas. You went with Joe. And my brother. JT and your brother Stephen and my mate Mark. Yeah, four years. Mark was brilliant. Mark was on top form. You're not going to try and describe Mark to a listener? I can't. I think we might have to get Mark on the podcast at some point. Mark's someone who I've known since I was a teenager. He owns a recording studio and rehearsal space and things like that. He likes his music as well, doesn't he? And when I was in a little indie band after I left school.

5:50What were they called? I'm not saying that at all whatsoever. When I was in a little indie band. No, don't. Seriously, don't. It's impossible to embarrass me, but that's a blotch on my otherwise perfect CV. But he used to own that. And I've just been mates with him for, God, 20 odd years now. But he's nuts. He's absolutely insane. We were in a box. We were in a posh box. Of course you were. Yeah. And we were with other sort of brands and companies and stuff like that. And my mate Mark was going, yeah, you do a podcast, don't you? How's that podcast going? I was going, yeah, it's all right. Yeah, it's good.

6:27He was like, I'll get you sponsorship. I'll get you sponsorship. Was going around. Everyone. We Buy Any Car was there. A shoe company was there. So just like big brands. Yeah. And Mark was just walking around going, yeah, you want to sponsor a podcast? He was literally just going up to people. And a couple of them were going, yeah, no, we'd be interested. All right. Get them on the phone. And he was going, see, see, I told you, see, I told you. See, you've got to ask, you've got to ask. If you don't ask, don't get it, do you? Yeah. And he is like that. He sleeps about two hours a day. Yeah, he's a special one.

7:00When I first met him, I was like, Jesus, what are you on? Because he was like, he owned a recording studio and it was all music. And I was like, there's obviously some drugs going down here, right? And then after getting to know him and stuff, he's completely teetotal. Yeah, imagine him on drugs. that's when I was like Jesus yeah that makes sense actually but it was great it was absolutely brilliant it was such a great night didn't disappoint no did not disappoint not even close to no and you told me that you Carst were great Richard Ashcroft was great yeah you told me that you and my brother were hugging me and Stephen were hugging each other at one moment singing along to the music we've never done that before no no no we're not really a huggy family No, it was just a good moment in time.

7:50Little do you know, James Buckley, that while you were having the time of your life that weekend, I was at home with the children, as you know. When you came home, you were nearly served divorce papers. Is that right? What for? What have I done there? You nearly died, son. You don't even know it. Someone took a video of me and Joe. Someone's took a video in the crowd of you and Joel watching Oasis Yeah Have you watched it? What was I doing? Have you watched it? What am I doing there? I look cool, I look alright I've got my little Oasis Adidas t-shirt on Have you watched the video though? Yeah Can you not see what I see?

8:30What do you see? Look

8:36For people who aren't watching this somebody in the crowd is taking a video of James and Joe watching the Oasis gig and there's a woman and a man in the row in front of James and her boyfriend's arm is rounder but because you can only see up to James' elbow it looks like his arm is rounder. I look like just some creepy bloke behind some girl just putting her arm around her. Yeah, it just looks like you're cuddling some woman in the crowd. We were just all very excited, cuddling everyone your brother some women got cuddled sure it's somebody else's arm but it looks out i saw i do have long arms i do have weirdly long arms you see the perspective she's actually in front of you and you then see her husband or boyfriend or whoever she's with but when i first saw that video i was like what the then i watched it again always double check people always double check do always double check by the way yeah no that is good advice so i saw that really really quickly yeah and when i tell you what you thought for a second well you can see it you can't deny it i don't know i think it's clearly it's clear perspective thing it's clear once you look at it again but when you first just glance at that i was too busy just looks like you took some women to an Oasis gig left me at home and was cuddling away in the stands.

10:05I got, I got, listen, I was too busy fondling your brother, mate, so she didn't get a looking. Oh, it was such a good gig though. Yeah. It was so good. Would it have been worth the divorce if you'd got a bit carried away with some woman? No, of course not. Okay, not that good. Well, hang on, I don't know what you're asking me. It's fine, don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. But, I just wanted to let you know that you nearly came home to all your clothes Listen I'm always nearly getting divorced Yeah but not for not for like an actual that's just me like getting to me and to my tether I keep telling you do you think do you think I would make it that easy for you?

10:47Do you think you're getting out of this? You'd love it Oh I've caught him cheating Well that's it Soz Yeah I was a little bit You gotta go I was a bit excited Do you think I'd give you a fucking open goal like that? Don't swear at me. Do you think I'd make it that? No, mate. Till death do us part. And I'll tell you something. If you're very, very lucky, I might die before you. Oh, you will. You will. 100%. Then you can feel the sweet air of freedom. But until then, mate, you're not getting out of this. Okay. I'll tell you something that was annoying, though. I've seen a few videos of me and Joe at the gig.

11:30And a lot of comments are like, typical. Fucking celebrities just getting... Those tickets could have gone to real fans. And I'll tell you something. I saw them in 2002. I saw them in 2005. I saw them in 2009 just before they split up at Wembley. I've got Live Forever tattooed on my fucking arm. I've got this haircut. How the fuck can you turn around and go to me that could have gone to a real fan. You're just there. You're just there because you're jumping on a bandwagon. Jumping on a bandwagon. I used to get beaten up for liking Oasis when I was at school, when everyone was listening to fucking Sweet Like Chocolate Boy.

12:09Everyone was going to me, fucking Oasis. Oh, you fucking... They kept calling me a grunger. Oh, he plays guitar and he likes Oasis. Fucking grunger. I deserve to be there. You absolutely did. Go fuck yourself. Joe's more of a Blur fan, though. Joe looks like a blur fan Joe's a classic Why does that make sense? Because he's a Cambridge student Right so that's what I got up to this week Oh just one quick one as well I saw something this week And I thought That is the most grim image I think anyone could see And I think we've all seen it at some point But I saw it and I was like That's really fucking gross it was a used plaster in the street and I was just like it's not as bad as in the swimming pool that's a bad one isn't it when you see them floating when they get like when they're floating near the filter or wherever it is just constantly yeah yeah that's gross I just wanted to bring that up okay I just wanted to bring that up and just ask if any if anyone if any of our listeners could top that something just a grim thing that you see and you go that's fucking rank I mean it doesn't have to be obvious it doesn't have to be like oh I saw someone gobbing gobbing or they were cutting their toenails on the train or something like that like not that you I can't imagine you would say I just mean those little things that are quite common yeah if you really think about them for a second you go that's grim yeah well chewing gum on stuff oh god never touch the bottom of a table no never ever touch the bottom chewing gum on stuff my mum always tells a story which embarrasses my brother.

13:53When they were redecorating his room when he was a teenager, they moved his bed and there was just a lot of bogeys on the wall behind his bed. I had it on the back of my headboard. I used to call it the bogey graveyard. That is grim. I told my kids about that. That is grim. On the back of my headboard, it was just years of me lying in bed, going like that and just wiping on the back of my headboard. Then when it came to us, I'd had that bed since I was about 11 years old or something. Then we moved when I was sort of 16, 17. and then we pulled the bed out and looked at the back of that and it was just all smeared up the back.

14:26It was years. Oh, that makes me feel ill. It really does. Years and years and years of wiping bogeys on the back of my life. Yeah. I've had to say to the boys a couple of times, don't start this. I see a few strays. Because they flick them. No. They do. I've seen... One of them wipes. Jude. One of them wipes on the wall. Yes, Jude. Or on the wee ledge bit of his bed. Harrison is as annoying as he is And he's well annoying He's way less annoying than Jude Harrison's very He's more annoying than Jude Do you mean? Yeah Yeah He's way more annoying than Jude Sorry Jude's less annoying But Harrison's very like Again this is annoying But like he won't share a water bottle with you No He gets freaked out by that kind of stuff He does with me But Jude does Wipe his bogies in places doesn't he?

15:14Wasn't there one on the iPad screen or something? Yeah Harrison was gone mental Yeah That was a few years ago to be fair I was wondering if it was about six. They had a shared iPad. And Harrison was so furious. And Jude, to be fair, must have been like a sort of just coming out of being a toddler at that point. Well, I think it was about six, five or six maybe. Oh, Jude was. Yeah. Yeah, and Harrison was furious. He was just like, why have you done that? Why have you done that? We both have to use this iPad. Yeah. I had to scrape it off. How did we get onto this? I don't know. I can't remember.

15:45Gross stuff that you see. Yeah, gross stuff that you see. Let me know. Just those little things that are very common and you're like, oh, I don't want to be a part of this anymore. Hey, Claire. Yo. It's time to have a quick moan. Okay. Quick one this week. And it's just a moan at you. That's okay? That's all right? Can I moan at you? See what happens? Stop agreeing to shit that our friends ask us to do. All right? Just stop it. To be fair, they didn't ask. Just stop going. All right. Well, that's even worse then. Stop offering. But I felt bad. I know what this is. Because you offer stuff, and I offer stuff all the time, but it's an empty gesture.

16:27I don't mean it. I don't mean it at all whatsoever. Don't take me up on it. Yeah, we'll catch up soon. It's me. Unless you're going to come to my house, I'm not going to see you. They were in a bit of a pickle, though. They were in a pickle. I did the right thing. and help them out. Yes, it was hard work. Listen, don't get me wrong. There's always like, there's helping friends and then there's looking after a Doberman puppy for a week. Yeah, he's so cute though. I love him. I fell in love with him. You didn't. You just don't have patience. No, I don't. I've got, I do have patience. You don't. I do have patience.

17:07They're taken up. My patience allotment is taken up. All right. I don't like. By what, yourself? I don't like, no. No, not at all. I don't like anyone else's kids. I've got two of my own. They take up all my allotment for kids. Don't care about anyone else's dogs. I've got one of my own. And they're all annoying. They're all irritating things, right? Yeah, Cosmo's very annoying as well. Yeah, right. And that's it. He takes... There's no more patience left. Yes. There's nothing left to spread. The problem was that our Cosmo is still a puppy. Yeah. So they were both... If Cosmo had been like three or four and he was grown up, it wouldn't have been as stressful.

17:43They were both puppies. The Doberman was only three, four months old. Cosmo's only eight months. Yeah, Cosmo's nine. Nine months old. Yeah. So it was hard work. It was a Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy and a Doberman puppy. Yeah. Having to live together for a week. Yeah. And they would not leave each other alone. No, they were hard work. They were, at some point, I kept saying, when they're fine, they're absolutely fine. They chilled out a lot. But when they're not, when they were going at it, it was hard work. Yeah, it was really hard work. It was really... I'm absolutely shattered. It only went yesterday.

18:18Yeah, I miss them. I'm absolutely exhausted. This is why I've gone for years without having friends. Because you get roped into all this shit. You don't. I do. You rope me into shit as well. You need to stop that as well. You didn't do anything for those dogs. No, but the other stuff. The other stuff that you get... Like, I hear you on the phone sometimes. It's like, oh, you need that move, do you? Yeah, no, James can do that for you. I'll send James round and it's always a fucking dining table that's made out of marble or something there's been times where I've moved stuff yeah there's times I'm going to my mate John are you sure this is not fucking nailed to the floor or something mate?

18:58I know well listen you've got to be helpful you've got to do it you help him I do I'm right there that's fine stop bringing Doberman puppies to the house stop sending me out to move fucking dining room tables that weigh about eight tonne. You did that once. Get over it. There's a table. There was a telly. Giant telly I had to move. A giant green egg thing. I didn't ask you that. He asked you that. Yeah, he did, yeah. But this is my point. You shouldn't have friends. I don't ask anyone else for anything. That's the thing, though. One day you might need somebody's help. No, I'm making sure. If you keep saying naughty fuck, they're not going to help you.

19:36I'm making sure that I don't need anyone's help. Because I tell you something, baby. there has been a couple of times when I needed people's help and then nowhere to be seen alright friends overrated get rid get rid you know all these friends you're talking about listen to this podcast I know but they understand that I'm just doing this as a joke I'm just I'm just trying to be funny it's just content it's content it's content it's material it's material that's why you should never be mates with a stand up comedian no god no because you'll always if you do something it'll be one little story and they spin it into this big thing yeah it becomes embellished which I've done I've embellished all those stories in fact I made them up and they're not even true so if you think that I'm talking about you and you're one of my mates and you're listening it's not you I'm joking and I made all that up just then John who did actually actually move a table and Cam who did give you his Doberman puppy that's just coincidence just coincidence right got you don't get me wrong there's always like I always take inspiration from stuff.

And he picks up the little J doll there and boots it across the room. Very hard. Very, very hard. Very aggressively. Very aggressively. And I just thought, all right, let's go. Let's go there. Yeah. Let's go there. And I'll tell you something, Joe Hart. If you kicked like that while you were at City, Pep might not have dropped you. All right. War's been declared and we will keep you updated with how that goes because we've got some, we're going to do, we're going to brainstorm.

23:37We are. We are. We're going to put some thought and money into this. That's it. Never mess with James or stuff like that. He's so petty. Spiteful. Spiteful. But I'll tell you what. First thing, number one, see that shelving unit? Stop using that in your podcast. That's us. We bought that for our set. It's not just for you to come in and go, oh, yeah, let's take all their stuff off it and use it on us. So you're done with that. I let that go. That's over. Don't touch that again. Maybe just as a joke, we arrange someone to tie him up and chuck him in the back of a van and drive him out in the middle of nowhere.

24:16Yeah. Or something like that. Just as a joke. Casino style. For Bantz. Does he have a teddy of himself? Obviously not. No. War. Just letting you know and we'll keep you updated. Before we do get into today's... That's confused me. Keep that in. Before we do, before we get into today's thing. I know we're going to have to keep it in to explain how it ended up like that. We've had quite the request from a couple of listeners. It's from Anon. They wish to remain anonymous. Okay. The subject is name our baby. Yes. No, we're not good at this. We were talking about this the other day. I know. How we couldn't think of names.

24:58This is why this is going to go wrong. I hope you don't mind. we're not writing to contribute to your podcast regular features but to ask for some advice instead. We are expecting our first baby later this year. Yeah. And we're super excited and also a little bit scared. Aww. You should be. It's fucking horrendous. Recently we found out that we are having... I'm just kidding. Great. Recently we found out that we're having a little girl and couldn't be more thrilled. The thing is we are deciding to keep the gender between just us. Okay. That's why they're anonymous. That's why they want to stay anonymous.

25:29Okay. Two of our favourite names for boys are Harrison and Jude. So we know that you guys will be on the same wavelength as us. So my question is, do you have any name recommendations for a little girl? Something that is effortlessly cool and perhaps a little bit rock and roll. And if you don't mind me asking, what girl names did you have in mind before you had your two boys? This is so weird that we've got this email. We were literally talking to the boys. We spoke about this a number of times over the years. Yeah. We have no girls' names. Harrison was always my name since I was 12 because I'm a huge George Harrison fan.

26:07And I always knew that when I had a baby, well, I hoped it was going to be a boy, and his name was Harrison. And then when you came along, you were like, absolutely, I'm on board. George is your favourite. So that was it. Harrison was Harrison before he was even conceived. When I got pregnant with Jude, we then wanted to keep the Beatles theme. So we were looking at both boys and girls' names. Jude became Jude because, I'm sure I've told this story, but when I gave birth to Jude, we had the Beatles playing and Hey Jude kicked in literally seconds after he was born. Past Masters Volume 2, I believe.

26:45James was like, well, that's it, it's Jude. Yeah. So that was easy for us. We had a couple of girls' names, but we were never really, we never had one where we were like, this is the girls' name. We liked Eleanor. Eleanor. You didn't really like that I did I quite liked Eleanor Penny We had Penny We had Sadie Yeah I mean You want something A little bit rock and roll A little bit cool And you want us to do it There's only one girl's name It can be What? Buckley Stella Stella Yeah that would be too I think that would be too On the nose wouldn't it It's on the nose But there you go What about Buckley?

27:24Call your girl Buckley I don't know What about Claire? Claire's such a shit name. Everybody's called Claire. James is a shit name as well. We're so common, aren't we? Claire. How long did it take you to decide that? Yeah. Stella. Stella. That's my recommendation. Middle name Artois. Middle name Buckley. Stella Buckley. Stella Buckley. That does sound good, actually. Buckley's a good name. We're not going to have any more, are we? Absolutely not. I liked... I actually did like... And you quite liked this as well. But I liked Kennedy. Yes, Kennedy. I liked Mara. Quite Irish. Mara, because my granddad's name is McNamara.

28:05Right. And I liked Mara. What else did we have? We had Kennedy. Even when we hadn't settled on Jude, I really liked Killian. And this was before Killian Murphy was the big, huge star he was now. Yeah. I love Killian. I love Irish names. I love Tighe, like Quiver for a girl, stuff like that.

28:28Just sounds like a fanny fart. I don't know. Is that the best we've got for them? Stella? Stella's great. And I think that is a cool name. Yeah. Little Stella, where we dock Martins on. Oh, come on. If you do call your daughter Stella, do let us know. In fact, get back to us either way. Yeah, let us know what you landed on. Let me go and have a piss and then we'll talk about this week's... Happy! Then we'll talk about this week's theme, which the theme is immortalised. All right. That's a theme, I guess. Let's find out together what the fuck that's all about. Jimmy. Yes, my dear. So there's been a little news story that the team think that we should talk about.

29:12So in your old stomping grounds, old Idris Elba. Big Driss. We know him. Love him. He's a handsome man, isn't he? He is handsome. That is a handsome man. I know I've mentioned this a couple of times before. we had like a sort of special evening at the Warner Brothers studio yeah we got invited to and it was us, Jonathan Ross and his family, Warwick Davis was there and Idris Elba and his daughter were there we took my sister this was years ago and I was next to Idris Elba and you go through all the sets of Harry Potter and it was like a private little tour, it was really good and you see all the sets and stuff it's really great I mean I'm not a Harry Potter fan but you and my sister really loved it.

29:57Yeah, and we took your sister with us, didn't we? She was a kid at the time. Yeah. And we were in like the Great Hall bit. Yeah. And I turned to Idris Elba and went, oh, mate, this is great. This is, I think this will be the only time that I ever be on like a major film set. And he went, oh, nah, you'll get there. He went like that to me. And I looked at him and I went, that's the first time I've ever seen you do some bad acting. Because he's a great actor, isn't he? He's such a brilliant actor. It was the first time I'd ever seen him say something and I knew even he wasn't convinced. He's great.

30:30I tell you what we loved. Oh, Luther. Oh, brilliant. Anyway, so he has recently been honoured by his old college, Barking and Dagenham College, with a paving stone. I didn't even know he went to Barking and Dagenham College. I didn't even know this. There you go. He did. Legend. I just love this guy. He just gets better and better. Where did you go? You didn't go to college, did you? Funnily enough I didn't Surprise surprise But are you not a little bit like Where's my Dagenham immortalisation See the thing is though Claire You're always fucking banging on him at Dagenham I grew up next to the fold factory Claire The thing is about Dagenham Is that there's a lot of talent That's come from Dagenham And I think I'm low down on that ladder Who?

31:16Dudley Moore For one Right yeah Stacey Solomon Are you laughing? No.

31:26No, there is. The dancer, the boys, the dancer boys. Who? They were on Britain's Got Talent. What are they called? Diversity. Diversity. They're from Dagnum. Right. So I think once they get a plaque or something, then maybe I'll sneak in there. Okay. All right. Okay. Well, off the back of this story, we are discussing how we would like to be remembered and immortalised. I've got an immortalised thing that I want to do. Go on. I've told my mum this and I've told my dad it. My dad was like, yeah, I don't care. My mum said no, my mum said it was too weird and creepy. But when my dad dies, touch wood.

32:13Are you going to get him, like, cremated and mixed into ink and tattooed on you or something? No, close. No. I want to, my dad's got a skull tattoo. You're going to save it. You can cut the skin off. People do this. This is a real thing. Why is everybody looking at me like this? This is a real thing. Google it. You'll see the pictures. They can cut people's skin off and they obviously embalm it so you can keep the tattoo and they, like, pull it and put it in a frame. Yeah. And I've always said I wanted to do that when my dad dies. I wanted to cut one of his tattoos. My mum said no, but he said he doesn't care.

32:52That'll be good. I'll enjoy looking at that. Yeah. Remember I went through a little weird stage of buying weird stuff in frames and things? You had a dead bat in a frame? Yeah. Where is that? I don't know. It's behind glass and stuff. I don't know. I think it's up in the office. See, it would go well beside that kind of stuff. have like a weird little but yeah no I think that's quite a good way to be immortalised. There's a question here it's like how would you like to be best remembered? Nah don't worry about me just forget about it. I'd like to be remembered. I know you would I'd like to just be remembered for making people laugh that's all.

33:29Okay being an idiot not for like doing anything great. Not like being like rocky or not like that can I? He's immortalised isn't he? Not like changing the world or anything like that. Yeah I just want people to go, oh, he was well funny. Well, that's the thing about doing something like the Inbetweeners. You're already immortalised. Yeah, but... People can always watch that. I don't know, man. I feel like people will still be watching. I'm not saying forever. In a hundred years to me. Well, I'm not saying that, but, you know, for a long old time. But that's what the word immortal means, isn't it?

34:02Yeah, yeah, I guess. It says here, when will Dagnum recognise James? Or have they? And you had to read that one, did you? Yeah. Only because he's been highlighted. When will Dagnum recognise James? Hey, listen, Dagnum, I'm here. I'm around. As soon as you want to recognise me, let me know. We'll come out and do something. The problem with Dagnum is it's not one of those towns that do Christmas lights and things like that. It's not like one of those places. No. So I couldn't turn on the Christmas lights at Dagnum, which I would do. Okay. I absolutely would do that. Maybe you could just go around and just, I don't know, turn some fox lights on.

34:39lights on or something. If I just... Turn some living room lights on one Saturday. Just do half a dozen or so. Yeah. Around Christmas time. Just go... Turn their Christmas trees on. Do you want your lights turned on? Yeah. Yeah. There is a plaque in the Chelmsford Museum which I believe is Joe Thomas' hometown. Oh. And he's got his own little dedicated plaque in his honour. That's annoyed me. So Joe Thomas, in his hometown... Oh, that's a really good picture of him. Joe Thomas is an actor and writer. He was born in Chelmsford in 1983. God, he's so old. He's most famous for playing Simon Cooper in the multi-award winning sitcom, The Inbetweeners.

35:17Aww. Look at that picture of him. He looks so handsome there. It goes on to say what school he went to. I feel like that's a sort of breach of privacy. He's got his whole like, what school he went to where he grew up. Okay, well let me ask you this though. Does Dagenham have a museum? I don't know. There should be though. There's a lot of history in Dagnum. Maybe if Dagnum's got a museum, you should have a little plaque. Just reading here, Claire. It turns out that Thought Park has immortalised me. Oh, have they? Listener Ryan got in touch with the following email. Hey, have you seen the new Thought Park entrance sign?

35:56How cool they have included the Pussay patrol car. For our listeners, again, we do need to describe what I'm looking at right now. and there's a big sort of mural on the entrance of Thorpe Park. And then just in a tiny little bit, there is the yellow Fiat Chicochento Hawaii edition. And I think it's got the characters' names graffitied in the picture. But go and check it out. Go and check it out. Go and check out Thorpe Park. Thorpe Park, do you want to sponsor us? But that, I had absolutely no idea. And let me tell you something, right? I'm a huge fan. I'm a huge fan of Thorpe Park. I used to go there loads when I was a kid.

36:38When I first started driving at the age of 17, I think one summer, me and my mates were like, should we go to Fort Park? James can drive. I was like, yeah. I think we went there about six times. Right. And I've not been back since the Inbetweeners came out because I just feel like it'd be like, come on, mate. Like I'd be walking around going, queuing up for the nemesis. Try not to call anyone an inconsiderate arse. So I want you to get to the front. You know, you know. Oh, picture. Yeah, come on then. Go on, all of us, everyone. Go on. But I do love Thorpe Park. So there you go. I have not been back since we filmed there.

37:18That is at the entrance of Thorpe Park. That is great. That is cool. Stuff like that I'm genuinely really proud of. Yeah, that is cool. That's really cool. I absolutely love that to bits. So there, I think we've spoken about today's theme, which is immortalised. enough more than enough we've done what we can right you ready yes feature regular feature yes petty revenge stories well absolutely we were talking about how we want to do some petty revenge on Joe Hart yeah in this episode yeah so let's hear what you guys have got well before we get to it petty revenge jingle oh we've got a jingle call me nuts Call me unhinged You piss me off And I feel the sting Petty Petty revenge Yeah, it's petty Petty revenge I'm in revenge Couldn't understand what they were saying Poor diction Is that James singing?

38:22No, that's Guy Is that you singing, Guy? I tried my best I can't do metal screaming In the office Who asked for metal? Not one person He said that as if We set up my challenge. Sorry, guys. I can't do metal screaming. Nobody asked you to. I've never brought it up before. Claire bullied me into doing that. No, I just said we need a petty revenge jingle because the laugh thing was crap. If you heard any... But don't worry about it. Next time we'll use the laugh. If you heard any of the lyrics, answers on a postcard. Petty revenge. I mean, we might as well just go back to me. Petty revenge. Petty revenge.

39:03Yeah. Anyway, right. This is from Angela. Subject, raised eyebrows. Oh, is this... Is Angela going to tell us that she once shaved someone's eyebrows off? I don't know. I'll let you know. And then tattooed them higher so they constantly look surprised. How are you going to do that without somebody knowing? Fucking tattooing them. Well, you could... Maybe she was a tattoo artist and somebody came in through the door and she was like, oh, I remember you. You fucking... Shall I read it and see? Yeah, go on. In college, I was dating a guy who, although attractive, certainly rated himself and sometimes referred to himself as Fabio.

39:42Wasn't Fabio, do you remember like those sort of old ladies novels, romance novels? Oh, like a long haired. There was that guy that was the model for the cover of all those books. Oh yeah, I think you're right. Wasn't he called Fabio? I think it's that sort of vibe. It's like the shirtless, long haired. Just on horseback or something. Yes, yes, right. That's a weird thing for me to remember.

40:09Yeah, shirtless on a horse. Yeah. Yeah, Fabio. Fucking. Okay, anyway, after a few months out of the blue, he finished with me. My 18-year-old heart was broken. Oh, Angela. You can imagine my devastation to then find out that the same night I was at home sobbing, he shacked up with one of his exes. A few weeks passed and we were both at a house party. At one point, I needed the toilet, so went upstairs and passed a bedroom where the door was open and lo and behold, I saw my ex passed out on the bed. Fabio, I assume. I went to the toilet and when I was washing my hands, the nair caught my eye. Do you know what nair is?

40:54Hair removal cream. Without a second thought, I grabbed it and smeared it across both his eyebrows and carried on with the party. About 30 minutes later, there was an almighty cry from upstairs. My ex had woken up and now had no eyebrows on his beautiful face. Just two rather red patches devoid of hair. He was sheepish at college for a while until they grew back. Some years later, I confessed all and we had a laugh about it. I like it. You know. It's perfect. Yeah. Facial deformity. Great. I'm not 100 % sure what he's done wrong, though. He split up with her. Same night. Back with his ex. No, it was...

41:33Yeah? The same night I was at home sobbing, he'd shucked up. Oh, shucked up with an ex of his. Yeah, but it seems like it happened very quickly. Too quickly. Too quickly not to be in contact before they split up. Do you reckon? Yeah, of course. Yeah, but he did the right thing, did he not? He split up with her and then he's free to do whatever he wants to do. Yeah, but there must have been some sort of crossover. You don't get together with somebody that quickly. You think eyebrow hair removal, you're just going on a, there must have been. You think the bloke deserved to lose his eyebrows? Yeah, women know.

42:07Because he split up with a girl? No, it's not because he split up with a girl. It's because too quickly he was back with an ex, which means he was talking to her. That happened to me. I got dumped when I was about, I think I was about 18. And the next day, my friend came to my house and was like, I've just saw him in Asda. Yeah. With his arm running a girl. Yeah. And I was like, well, he's obviously cheating on me then. Or it might have just been perspective. It might have just looked like he had his arm around the door. No, because they started going up. And then you start flying off the handle and stuff.

42:40Yeah, I didn't fly off the handle. I didn't care. But I'm just saying, he deserved it. Well done, Angela. That's good. That is good revenge. Good stuff. We've got another one. And it is petty. It is petty. Taking somebody's eyebrows is petty, isn't it? Yeah. But harmless. They'll grow back. I don't know, man. My friends all went on a lad's holiday. I didn't go with them. Of course you didn't. Never been interested in doing it. It sounds absolutely horrific. And this is why one of the boys had his eyebrows shaved off by one of the other boys and he looked like a monster. Like, you don't understand how much the eyebrow sort of frames your face and stuff.

43:18Oh, yeah, when people don't have eyebrows, they look insane. Like Hellraiser. And he worked in an office and stuff. Right. And he had to wear a bucket hat to work and stuff on the train. Right. Because it looked so freakish. Oh, right. So he wore this hat like sort of down over his, just sort of so his eyes could peek underneath it. Yeah. Right, read the next one. Ryan says, Hi, Claire and James. I did a really boring, crappy revenge to an ex when I was 20. But it was just an irritating inconvenience to her, which I'm still weirdly proud of. Basically, she dumped me because it wasn't working, which I fully accepted and agreed with, really.

43:52but about a month later she got in touch to say that she had left her DVD box set of the series Friends at my house. She wanted it back and said her mate could come and get it. I said it was fine and told my mate who I was out with that it was happening. He gave me the idea to take out all the DVDs from their case and put them in the wrong seasons. Ten seasons, four discs per season, 40 discs and not one of them in the correct order. Brilliant. I got a message about a week after her mate picked it up saying I was a petty prick. And it was really fucking annoying. Yeah, great. She also said that one was missing.

44:35I found the missing disc in my DVD player, but pretended I didn't have it. Yeah. I then put the disc in the shower and snapped it in half. Why are you putting it in the shower? Yeah, why in the shower? Had no impact on her, but made me feel fucking great. Yeah. Love the pod. Keeps me sane at 2am when feeding my newborn. Cheers from Ryan. I would definitely have just taken all the DVDs up and gave her back the empty box set. But don't you remember how important DVDs were? I was very proud of my DVD collection. I know, yeah. And then all of a sudden no one cares about DVDs anymore. Let's leave it there for today, Claire.
