In short
The Buckleys podcast episode “Most Hated People of the Year” is a year-end ranting show built around listener moans and their own grievances.
Guests
none. It’s just hosts Claire and PJ (plus occasional mentions of friends/family like Harrison, Mark, and “James,” and listener contributors).
Key claims
delivery drivers lie about “missed you” when they didn’t attempt delivery; tipping should be based on service quality (Claire argues for tipping regardless, PJ argues against tipping for bad service); the biggest 2025 gripe is “slow walkers” hogging paths (with “llamas”/alpacas referenced as part of the chaos).
Notable examples
slow walkers in supermarkets and on streets; coffee prices (e.g., £6 latte); optional restaurant tips; Oasis ticket “posers”; Coldplay kiss-cam viral drama; and the “electric salt spoon” (130-pound Japan gadget) plus a “Kenny Crocs” South Park collab as a “bang for buck” debate.

Just Google out of the Buckleys And they'll find tickets there Okay he's giving me the nod Nice Right Claire How are you?
56I'm alright Yeah? Yeah Thanks You know we're doing a podcast Yeah Sometimes it's good to sort of expand a bit Erm My back's a little bit sore Okay Kicking off What's been going on in our lives this week Claire Well Kicking off with a moan to be honest Go for it For a change I'd mentioned a few weeks back how delivery drivers not actually knocking on the door and delivering a parcel, just putting a slip, like a little ninja, sneakily putting a slip through the door, saying, sorry, sorry, you weren't in when you are in. And then just fucking off without making any attempt to deliver the package.
36There were a few people in the comments who I assume were delivery drivers. Oh, really? Going, no, no, you must have done something wrong. No, no, no, we don't do that. Done something wrong. What, by sitting in the house waiting for you to deliver the fucking parcel? This is it. You're talking about what I think you're going to talk about? A delivery driver wouldn't dare do that sort of thing. Anyway, I had a delivery booked a couple of days ago, didn't we? Yeah. Important delivery. Yeah. We were all at home. Yep. All of us sat in the living room. Yep. Pretty much by the front door. Yep. All day long.
05Because I was waiting for this. Yes. And, you know, we arranged delivery for this day. Yep. We knew we would be home all day. Yep. Claire gets an email. Not even a slip. Nope. Not even a slip through the door that proves that they even came anywhere near the house. Nope. An email saying, sorry, we tried to deliver your package. Sorry we missed you. Yeah, no one was in. We'll try again another day. So it didn't come anywhere near the house. No, fucking liars. Liar. So they've rearranged the delivery day to today. Today. The day we'd already fucking... I'm out all day. We knew we were out today, which is why we asked for it to be delivered a day when we were in.
41Yeah. So, listen, don't get at me in the comments going, no, no, no, no. Delivery drivers don't. No, there must have been some kind of mistake. Because this delivery driver didn't even fucking bother. No. Might not have been coming to our town. No. Don't know where he was. Yeah. Liar. So I stand by the original moan. I stand by it. Bare-faced lie. Bare-faced. Sorry we missed you. Bald-faced lie. What's a bald face? Don't know. I say bare-faced. Yeah. Bare-faced lie. Yeah, bare-faced and bald-faced. Not bald. No, you can say bold. Bold face. Oh, bold face. Bold as in like bold. That's bold. Yeah, not bald face.
17I thought it was bald face. But bear is the same as bald. Yeah, I guess. I think it is bald face. It's not. Go on, is the phrase bold? Don't look that up for anyone you know. Is it bald face or bald face? Well, you can get a bald face liar. It's a shameless phrase. Yeah, it's the same as bear face. There's nothing on your face. Like your face is bald. That's not... I don't know what bare face means either. A bare face liar is the person who fell late and shameless and is essentially the same thing. Yeah. But it's not bold face, is it? Bold. B-A-L-D. Yeah. What? But the problem is... You don't know sayings.
56You don't know sayings and our listeners don't know sayings either. How no one and everyone in this room, how no one knew the white whale. White whale. Anyway. It's become my white whale. The problem is the way you say stuff. It's always becoming my white whale. The way you say stuff always sounds the same. Here, I've got a little test for you. Oh, it's not my fault. It's where I'm from. We don't have... All our syllables are just... Listen. We do all the syllables in the same. A-E-I-O-U becomes... What would you say if I was putting liquid into a glass? Pouring. Right, but not... What would you say?
33Just pour? Pour it, yeah. Say the word. Pour. What would you call a dog's foot? paw what would you call something on your on your face the little holes in your face your paws like it all sounds the same go on you say them all then right a dog's paw right paw right I mean paw's the same yeah paw you say paw paw paw yeah I had a history teacher that said pooh pooh pooh it's the pooh yeah I remember that I told you that you said it on the podcast oh have I really yeah how do you say pooh paw right so a dog's front leg is a paw if you paw, paw some milk and if you don't have any money you're paw see I would say poor paw and paw they all sound like different words they are different words they are you say paw paw paw yeah we've still got this language barrier I don't know what my accent is really to be honest because I don't think it's your Essex accent I don't think it's East London I think it what is it?
37Estuary The Thames Estuary. Anyway. Yeah, so that's what's been going on. I didn't want to... Usually, our intro chat is what's been going on in our lives this week. Usually that is differentiated from the moan. Right. But they've sort of, like the vowels... Well, that's my moan. They've all blended. My moan is that you say words the same when they should be different. Probably, yeah. Right. Quick little moan for you, Claire. Right? Nothing against the guy. He's a hero of mine. I was there, when was it, 2004? When England won the Ashes. It was absolutely amazing. It was incredible. All those characters.
16Is that cricket? Yeah. I just have a problem with Andrew Flintoff's nickname. So, Andrew Flintoff. Yes. England hero, right? Right. Everyone loves him. Yeah. There's no debate in that at all whatsoever. Right. It was 2005. Yeah, I played a lot of cricket in the garden that summer. We were a couple of our mates. Suddenly we were all like looking at woodworm bats and things. Well, he was like the cool, he made cricket cool, didn't he? Flintoff, Kevin Peterson. And then it was brilliant. It was absolutely incredible. It was a great time to be alive. I'll just put that out there. But I've just got a little problem with his nickname.
55His name is Andrew Flintoff. His nickname is Freddie Flintoff. No one calls him Andrew. No. Everyone calls him Freddie Flintoff. I just don't think there's enough. There's only Flint. They've concentrated on, out of all the syllables and everything going on, they've concentrated on Flint. Now, if Andrew's name was Fred, I would go, all right, yeah, Freddie Flintoff. Now, but they've gone from Fred Flintstone to Freddie Flintoff, and there's just too much. There's too much to get from one to the other. All they've got is Flint. First of all, he was never called Freddie Flintstone. It was always Fred Flintstone.
35Now, if Andrew Flintoff's name was Andrew Flintstone, I'd go, right, Call him Fred. Sure. Or even Freddie. Fred Flintstone, Freddie. You can get, bosh, two steps, you're there. Okay. Fred Flintstone has to go through Andrew Flintoff to get to Freddie Flintoff. This is why... It's just the word Flint. You let stuff bother you way too much. And I just... It's annoyed me for years now. It has because you've already spoke to me about this a long time ago. You have brought this up. Again, I don't have anything against Andrew Flintoff at all whatsoever. I wouldn't want to... I wouldn't want to. He's a big bloke.
18He is. He's a great big unit of a guy. I've already learnt my lesson with my Joe Hart beef. Oh, please. He shat himself. But I'm just saying... The jump annoyed you. It's too different. Even if they called him Andrew Flintstone. Andrew Flintstone, sure. Andrew Flintstone. Andrew Flintoff, Andrew Flintstone. Yeah. Listen, I'm not... Girls don't really do nicknames. Girls don't like shorten people's names. Like all your mates call you Buckley. Yeah. That's not a nickname. That's my name. But that's like what they call you. Yeah. Like we don't do that. Yeah. We find all that stupid. Well, a couple of my mates have got nicknames.
01One point. Yeah. You know, like when guys go to the pub and they're like, I told her I'd only be coming for one. Yeah. I said to her, it'd just be a quick pint on the way home from work. I'll be home straight afterwards. that's code for I'll have one and then I'll see how I feel and then probably have a couple more. Yeah. He had one pint. Yeah. He came all the way to the pub, had one pint and left. Yeah. From that day on, everyone called him one pint. Yeah. Beach wank. Don't need to go into that. I can't believe you brought that up. Don't need to go into that one. Blob. Blob. Yeah, me and my mate Mark, who Katie knows, we both call each other Blob.
42Blob, yeah, I don't know where that came from. I can't remember where that came from. I forget why you call him Blob. Yeah. I forget why you get it back. I can't remember where that came from. Don't know either. Like, I'll call him up and go, you're right, Blobhead, and you go, how's it going, Blobhead? Like, it's so, yeah. We both call each other Blobhead. I don't get that one. That goes back about 20 years, I think. Girls don't do that. Like, we don't, like, I wouldn't call you up and be like, Ray, Raymundo, Rayzard. Everyone loves Raymonds. Do you know what I mean? Like, like, I wouldn't do that.
14Yeah. Like, I'd be like, hi, Katie. All right, Jess. Lana Del Rey. Yeah. And that's what you do. Rey of sunshine. It goes to, like, weird. I'm just like, hi, what's happening? But I just, I don't think there's enough in Andrew Flintoff's name. Okay, fine. I might be wrong. And I'm sure everyone's going to disagree with that. And I'm going to be very unpopular. Because also, it is fun to say, Freddie Flintoff. There is joy. Freddie Flintoff. It took me a long time to know that that wasn't his name Yeah exactly but that's it He'll come on a chat show or something And they'll go ladies and gentlemen please welcome Freddie Flintoff And I'll be like His name's Andrew
55Anyway that was my moan My pals we've got some nicknames Some crazy ones Some crazy weird nicknames If you've got a nickname Or if your friends have got a nickname Please let us know in the comments And the story behind it There's some really good ones to them on like what do you call it when it's like workmen site there's like an instagram page or something where they've got like really great reasons why they call somebody something yeah and sometimes it's really rude or johnny one ball who's that i'm assuming it's a guy called john we one ball he's only got one ball john yeah he's only got one ball but he lost this do you know him i haven't seen him for years but i used to when i was on building sites and stuff right and um him Him and his mate were carrying a piece of sheet metal, really, really heavy, really, really heavy.
46And put it down on a table or a ledge or something like that. Got himself caught. No. Squished. Instantly fainted. It was so painful. He just instantly fainted, lost a bollock. Now he's Johnny Wumble. There and then. Yeah. Like it popped up. It was just disintegrated. The pressure just instantly destroyed a bollock. Wow. Wow And I assume it must have been like half a bollock maybe Or something like that What's the matter Paige? Struggling a little bit It is awful isn't it? Oh please use exaggerate about that Every bloke listening to this podcast now is wincing Oh please God I know yeah How'd he manage to get his balls on top of the table?
32Also one One? Yeah one of them Are you sure he wasn't just trying to get out of work for a while or something? No. Pulled a papa joke? That's different. Your grandfather once smashed his thumb or something at work so he could get two weeks off and a compensation payout so he could take his family to Blackpool. Yeah. It wasn't even Blackpool. I think it was like air. Destroyed his own thumb. My papa used to work in the mines and those carts that go by. And I mean, they go like a million miles an hour, really heavy. And him and a couple of his mates all went, like said, right, we'll do it, we'll do it.
07And they all shut out and he put his thumb down. destroyed his thumb he had like a big fat thin thumb for the rest of his life didn't he look like a little frying pan yeah all his nail was all broken it never ever went back to normal but he got to take the kids to air for a couple of days and got a couple of quints yeah no it wasn't one of those there's a difference between a thumb and a bollock yeah true you can't open a door with your bollocks that's true that's true the only thing when he fainted was he just hanging I don't know yeah there are questions don't get me wrong there are questions I assume it ripped there was a there was a the sack ripped open there was well he's only got one bollock the boys only got one bollock Johnny Sack Johnny one bollock speaking of Johnny Sack what do you think of my shirt it's a bit Sopranos isn't it it is a bit well I said it was more sort of Charlie Sheen two and a half men I'm going more Tony more sort of Tiger Blood what's Tiger Blood hashtag winning Right, let's do a quick little swipe And we'll be back Because I think we've got some listener updates Right, Claire We're coming to the end of the year We are Yeah, I know It's a quarter of this century Yeah Done So we thought we'd do 2025 The year in moans A year in moans That's what we need from you Great Well, no This is from our listener He's just as bad as you This is from our listener.
37Our listeners got in touch with us. Okay, go on. Just some of their general gripes and moans. Okay. They wanted to bring up. Okay. It's all the big hits. Connie says here, the price of coffee. £6 for a latte, get a grip. I think that sounds cheap. I think you're sort of seven, eight quid for a coffee these days. That is crazy. I was watching an old episode of Frasier recently. It's one of the early ones. I think Frasier came out in 93, 94. and the dad goes into the coffee shop. They're like, Dad, can I get you a coffee? And he's like,$1.50 for a coffee? For coffee? And he's like going mental over$1.50, which is what, about a pound.
21I know. And it's those old McDonald's menus you see and it's like 25 pence for a burger. I remember it, Claire. It was£2.88 for a big burger. Mac meal. Right, yeah. Wow. When I grew up, it was£2.88 for a Big Mac meal. Then they brought out the pounds saver menu. Yeah, yeah. That was genuinely a double cheeseburger for a quid. Yeah. So if you've got two quid on you, two double cheeseburgers, yum yum. Thank you very much. Yeah. So inflation. Well, she's just saying, Connie's just not happy with the price of coffee. And I would argue that no one's been happy with the price of coffee for the last 30 years, I think.
59I think the last 30 years we're all just going, fuck it, I'm going to charge an a fortune for these coffees. Anyway. Make them in the house, man. Well, you were saying that guy... Fancy coffee people. That guy bought his coffee machine and you... Aye, that was about£7,£800. Yeah, if you're paying£6 for a fucking latte. Lottie? Within a year. Aye, but just have normal coffee and treat yourself every so often. People love a coffee. People are very passionate about their coffee. Dan's here saying restaurants adding an optional tip. if I want to I will don't add it for me right so here's the thing we disagree with this right because I am very much of the opinion that if the service was good if you were a good waiter or waitress then I will tip you if the service was shit you're not getting a tip you don't deserve a tip no but you tip no matter what I've got to I'm a man in the media Claire and people love this bloke off the telly didn't give us a tip story but then I would So even when I go to a restaurant and it is shocking and the food's cold and the glasses are filthy and all that kind of fucking nonsense, I have to go, oh, it's so lovely.
12Thank you. You should. I'm so lucky to be here because I'm not allowed to just be a customer. You are. You are. It's not the way the world works. It is. Because also not only, well, that's it. People lover this guy off the television. He's got money, but he didn't tip. And then everyone reads that and goes, yeah, I can imagine. doing that. Yeah, what a little fucking prick. But if I saw that comment, I would reply and go, no, I didn't tip because the mac and cheese was freezing, the chips were stale. No one cares about that. No one cares about that. And then all of a sudden, I'm bent over, Claire.
46They've got me over a barrel. They're fucking me right up the arse. They're balls deep in me, baby. Every day I leave the house is a PR exercise. It's like I'm fucking running for president or something, which I am, let's face it. but everything, I'm kissing babies, not in that way. You know, I go to a pub and I'm always like, oh, three pints of Stella and get one for yourself, please. So they go, oh, he was a nice guy. That's fine. He was a nice guy. Right, but... Because if I do something that is, even if I'm well within my rights to go, hey, you're taking a fucking piss now. Yeah. Like, can you get your bum out for my wife and give her a moon or something?
26And I go, well, I'm not really comfortable doing that. All right, then. Right. I get what you're saying. I get what you're saying. Sorry, sorry. But I still, I just think the tipping thing is... Tipping, if you do a good service, tip. Yeah, yeah. And my thing's 20%. Yeah. I add 20 % to the bill. See, I don't work at it. It's whatever I've got in my puss, right? If I've got a fiver and it was really great and the waitress was lovely, I'll leave it. No, I do 20%. No. But I do it whether the service is shit. I don't agree with that. I think you're letting them fuck you up the arse. well sometimes you know you love it don't you sometimes you just like to be fucked up the arse clip anyway clip that clip that James oh is that me or is this another James okay James says here you can't just call companies anymore it's always a chat bot I mean you have said that beer do you want to get a beer James feel like we'd have a lot in common Clara says every store asking for your email yeah Everyone wants your fucking phone number.
30Where do you live? I hate that. I remember, and this was actually ages ago, right? Like a couple of years ago. I was in River Island and I was buying, I think I was with Harrison, and I was buying them a couple of new little bits and we got to the tell and I paid for everything and then she's like ringing stuff up with her and she's like, oh, can I just get your email? And I was like, I don't have an email. She was like, what? You don't have an email? You don't have an email? And I was like, no. She was like, well, I don't know. I don't know what to do. I was like, how about you just fucking print me a receipt?
03Because the receipt was coming to my email. And she was like, oh, yeah, I guess. And I was like, yeah, you can. Say no to these people. I hate this. Got to stop standing up for ourselves. Yes. We've got some more moans here. Luke. Luke says the fucking six, seven thing that my kids say when they see a number six and seven. It does my tree in, says Luke. Now I don't know I don't know what this is from But I know what it is I only get the reference from an episode of South Park That's where I got it from Well Hardison and Jude have been doing it Well no but they've only just started Doing it since I did it to them Because I did say Oh we'll probably leave about 6-7 today And then I went 6-7 And they went oh no They're like oh dad don't do that They'd never done it to me And they were a bit like, how do you know about that?
00Yeah, yeah. And I said to them, right, can you explain it to me? And they said, the joke is that it's pointless. There's nothing behind it. What's the matter with these kids? It's not even funny. And they cling on to these stupid things. So don't worry, Luke, sit tight. It's coming to an end. Amelie says people wearing a blur shirt to an Oasis concert. That's quite funny. Macy says people who got Oasis tickets who aren't even fans happened to me when I was at Wembley there was a bunch of middle class fucking posho that went out for a meal you've done this I know but they were cosplaying as Oasis fans it did I was like I was talking to Chris I was going they need to shut up because I can't hear the fucking music but I got accused you did yeah it was like oh he gets to go just because he's off the television yeah Why not give it to real fans?

46Gemini and Chrome is here for it. Ready to make anything online make sense? There's no place like Chrome. Check responses set up required, compatibility and availability varies 18+. Timothy? Celebrity's going to space, yeah. Yeah, no, that's not a good one, is it? It's not like, it is a bit like, guys, read the room. Everyone's fucking struggling. and we're all having a shit time right now. Like, I'm not. I'm having a great time. I'm off the television, sure. But I try not to rub anyone's nose in it. Like, I'm trying not to sort of be fucking Katy Perry up in space. It's a mental move. Absolutely insane.
31Oh, these people have PR people. Does no one go up to them and go, leave it. I'd leave it, love. Everyone else is a bit miserable and they don't want to see you having a fucking amazing time in space. See, I don't get that stuff, right? Because that doesn't... It's just about being sensitive. I get that, but what difference does it make if somebody goes into space? What's that idea with you? Listen, I'm all for space travel. I'm all for the final... How does that make a difference? I'm all for the final frontier. It is about somebody who has absolutely fucking everything anyway. Right. Who arguably...
09Listen, if you're into it or not, you can argue whether they deserve it or not, right? Deserve what? To go into space? No, all the stuff that they've already fucking got. Right, OK. Maybe if they sent Paul McCartney up in space, I'd go, he's done his time, he's contributed. Katy Perry. Do you know what I mean? It is, though. People do. People do. People are upset. People are fucking fed up. You know it. We're fed up and we've got a great life. No, I know, but I just don't get what Katy Perry getting into space has got. You're on the wrong side. Okay, I just don't get it, that's all. You're on the wrong side.
42You're sticking up for Katy Perry. I'm not, I don't give a fuck. When the whole world has decided. I don't give a fuck. I couldn't get less if she fucking didn't come back. I know. I don't get what that means. That's all I'm saying. I'm explaining it to you. Okay, fine. And you keep saying I don't get it. I'm explaining to you. Most of the world, we're part of the world. We understand what everyone's going through. Yeah. And we're all sensitive to the shit. It's our friends and family. Yeah. We got lucky. We fucking trod in shit and come out smelling the roses somehow, right? Most people are fed up.
10Yeah. And the last thing they want to see is someone like us, who are lucky, fucking getting taken to space for no good reason. On the back of basically a load of workers that work in big warehouses that are getting paid fuck on. Oh, yeah, because it was the Amazon guy, wasn't it? Right. So that's it. And people turn around and go, well, that's shit. I'd love to get his shit. Would you go into space? I'd love to go into space so badly. Would you? But I think I'd leave it. Yeah, but that aside, would you do it if you could? I'd love to, man. Really? I'm obsessed with space. Yeah. I do think it's the future.

44I think we're going to colonise another planet at some point. Got Mars for a wee holiday. Or terraform Mars or something like that. I think we're going to do it. And all those things are important. Yeah. All those things are the future and they are very important. Fair enough. Fair enough. What would have been cool is like a competition. Amazon did this competition. We're going to send someone who works in a building site or a nurse or something like that. We're going to send them up into space to show them what can be done and the technology. And this will be the future. All you people, you ordinary people, you're going to be able to go to space.
18All the people. So many people. Mark's annoyance of 2025 is that there's still no hoverboards. Yeah. Well, let me expand on that, Mark. Oh, for the love of God. There is still no hoverboards. And the hoverboard, by the way, has to be like Martin McFly, Back to the Future. We've all decided that's the hoverboard. They've got hovercrafts. They've had those for years, which are great big sort of lined bin bag things that they just pump up. It's just basically floating about on a bouncy castle. That's not a hoverboard. They had those fucking things on two wheels that you sort of leant forward, those really dangerous segways.
56Yeah, no, they said that was a hoverboard. They called them hoverboards. No, they didn't. You went into Amazon, you typed in hoverboard, that's what came up. Didn't hover at all. It had nothing to do with hovering. You hovered slightly off the ground for a second as you were sliding off of it before you broke your back. But I'm with you, Mark. Still no hoverboards. Let's stop fucking spending all our money sending Perry to space and work on the hoverboard situation. Concentrate on the important stuff. Imagine Musk or Bezos when hoverboards for everyone. Everyone would just go They used to do it in Roman times They'd be like Oh we're going to do these Great big mental games and things Nowadays Mental rich people are just going First of all You're not getting anything out of us And secondly Look at us We're sending our girlfriends Up into space For a laugh Imagine this right Bezos went I've got the Oasis boys Back together again I'm paying them Half a billion And also They're going to be playing for free for all of you.
59Everyone would go, send whoever you want to space. Yeah, yeah. Do whatever you want, mate. You're a fucking legend. We love Bezos, Bezos, Bezos, Bezos. People would just go, and half a billion to him is nothing. Yeah, that's crazy, isn't it? Right, finally, your biggest gripe of 2025. And this is actually based on numbers of people getting in touch with this podcast. This comes in at least once an episode. Yeah. So biggest gripe 2025 goes to Slow Walkers. Not zombies. We had hundreds of you messaging telling us that Slow Walkers were your number one thing to moan about this year. Yeah. Lachlan.
38Lachy. Got to be Australian. I don't think there's anyone outside of Australia that's called Lachlan. Just says Slow Walkers hogging up the path. Yeah. Some of them with llamas. It's a fucking alpaca, you fuckwit. Oh, fuck off, you fuckwit. a nice llama it's a fucking alpaca what do you want from me you're fucking walking a llama down the street it's a fucking alpaca you don't know the difference between a llama and an alpaca it's a good video that no more beers for him it's a good video that one Kyle slow people in the supermarket Scott being stuck behind slow walkers it's getting fucking worse Connie says slow fucking walkers there should be a fast lane on UK higher streets there should be there should be actually if you want to deli dally if you want to look at your phone you need to go in the other lane slow walkers congratulations you are the most hated people of the year nice one round of applause can we get can we get a little fanfare or something Claire out of interest how many hours of moaning do you think we've done on the podcast this year it's been an episode a week so 52 hours at least.
52And also, I mean, we take a lot longer than an hour to make these. Yeah, I was going to say. They are really edited down. Yeah. Most of all to protect me. Yeah. Because, you know, there's still people out there waiting to cancel you. So when people are like, wish these episodes were longer. Yeah. We do do them longer. Can't be. Trust me, you don't want them longer. You really don't. A lot of moans. A lot of moans. A lot of moaning. So 52 hours. And can I just say, I've had a lot of fun moaning I love moaning I know you do I enjoy it so much and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself this year Claire good and we've covered a lot of ground and here's some of our moaning highlights okay well there was Instagram CEOs yes where everyone's a boss yeah with the Rolex against the Mercedes and be a boss marry a boss yeah two bosses building a boss world yeah just living our boss life yeah on a beach somewhere being bosses Claire can't get a word in There was a lot of that Telling me to shut up basically These are all the ones I'm glad that's got better Have you finished?
55I don't know whether to speak or not Because I know you don't like me talking over you I'm just making sure These are a lot of the things that our listeners commented about Right, okay So they struck a chord Right Breaking bad as shit I stand by it That upset people I stand by it Women need more sleep than men Oh god, these are all mine But that's true, I agreed with that one They do It's scientific Yeah, they can't... They struggled, didn't they? Yeah. Claire hates journaling. Oh, God. There was a lot of discussion about that one. Well, you know, listen, I've taken to it, actually. I get up at 4.30am every morning and I write all my feelings down and then I go and grind my beans in my...
39Oh, my... Go on. Grind my beans in my coffee machine and then... That must be painful. That's like the equivalent of what Johnny Wumble did You're grinding your bean In your coffee machine Go to grind your bean in the morning Sets me up for a beautiful day This is me happy When I come in with an attitude Of not a time to grind my bean No Using the downstairs toilet The council tax and garden waste Yeah that became a whole thing I don't want to go down that Joe Hart says here Yet the producer's not living up to our high expectations. Guys, I've got to be honest with you. We don't have high expectations.
22We've got low expectations. You know our whole thing. Our whole thing is set the bar low. Our whole thing is under promise over deliver. You've done the opposite, guys. But we are grateful. And, of course, fruit and veg being fondled, which is something I like to do of a morning. Yeah. You fondle your fruit and veg You're grinding your bean Listen What a year to be alive Yeah Hey let's Is that the highlights of this fucking podcast for a year? It's really bad isn't it? Jesus Christ It is awful Yeah Yeah seeing it like that on black and white Yeah On paper We're the first to tell you that this podcast is shit And most podcasts are But they kill some time That's all you need to do So just doing a little 2025 retrospect Okay Recap I wanted to talk about some of the ridiculous moments of 2025.
16Okay. Absolutely insane. Some of these are sort of towards the end of the year as well. I feel like we've had more ridiculous moments in the second half of 2025. I feel like everyone was quite chilled out at the beginning of 2025. Everyone was looking forward to seeing Oasis. I knew you were going to say that. Anyway, the Louvre heist. Yeah. Just broad daylight. I know. Just in the middle of the day. I know. And you shouldn't be happier, but it's stealing. It's thievery. I know. But for some reason, everybody fucking loved that. I just sort of want to go, go on then. I know, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, go on.
50Yeah. There was something sort of funny about it. Yeah. Jet 2's jingle. Oh, I fucking hate that. It's a Jet 2 holiday. Yeah, I hate that. It just became quite a good little thing. You could set a lot of stuff to it. I know, but when I hear something too long, it does bug me. It gets on your nose a lot. Yeah, it irritates me. Darling, hold my hand That's the Jet 2 song, isn't it? Yeah You don't enjoy that, though? No The Coldplay Kiss Cam Jumbotron drama That was brilliant Now listen, I almost got caught up with a similar thing, didn't I? I did, yeah I don't really appreciate this one You did The problem, do you know?
26They were just two friends having a good time together Platonic, nice time together Yeah Enjoying a bit of Coldplay Yeah Being swept up in the moment The problem with that is, right? that it annoyed me so much because, right, they were having an affair. We all know that now. If they had just kept their fucking cool, nobody would have seen that. It wouldn't have gone viral. It wouldn't have ended up on the internet. If they had just kept their cool, it would have just been another couple on the camera. But they had and she covered her face and he ducked down. Oh, my God, it was a mess. She'd just do what I did, Just style it out with my really long arm You just denied I did deny You just deny Adult toy collecting went bizarrely mainstream Is it about dildos?
20Who knew that in 2025 Adults queuing for collectible blind box toys Like La Boo Boo and Jelly Cat Heard of La Boo Boo Don't know what Jelly Cat is Would be one of the most viral pop culture phenomena Phenomenomena Even high-end shops and resales got in on it Yeah, I was into the Lububu. I've got a couple. No, you don't. Don't be so fucking stupid. I was going to say. And that is the problem, right? I mean, ridiculous. This is what I'm saying. People are trying to just carve out some tiny moments of pleasure from anywhere. They're a fucking fortune. People were paying hundreds of pounds for them.
56Stupid. That is ridiculous. Can't stand it. What was your personal disaster or most embarrassing moment of the year, Claire? Falling over in the restaurant? That was a bad one, man. Yeah, I think that was my worst, yeah. Yeah. I can't think of being embarrassed this year. I don't feel embarrassment as much as the normal person. No, you don't actually. It's really weird. Yeah, you don't. If I do something that everyone else should find embarrassing, I don't give a fuck. That's good though. No, it's dangerous. It is dangerous. It's like there's an episode of House where a young girl has no pain receptors.
32Yeah, I'd love that. And her mum is constantly in fear because every time she leaves the house, she might trip over and break her arm, but just not even know she's fucking done it or whatever. And her mum's like constantly paranoid. Right. And that's me. Right, okay. Yeah, and I'm constantly paranoid. I could be really, really damaging myself. Yeah. And not feel it. Yeah, it's not that you don't get embarrassed. It's that you don't read rooms very well. You'll go in and you'll just keep talking and talking and people will be going, what? Not even like as if you're saying anything wrong. People will just be like, what the fuck is he talking about?
06Yeah. And you're like, hey guys, right? And everybody's like, yeah, sure. But you'll keep going. You keep, you keep. Give me an example. Everything you've just done in this podcast. Okay. Okay, Claire, we've got a little bit of time. You okay? Yeah. Just checking them out. Just making sure they're still there. They are. We've got time for Bang for Buck. Bang for Buck. Is it worth the spend or just dumb luck? Bang for Buck Did it change your life or did it suck? Bang Good. Oh dear. So this is the segment where we discuss a recent purchase and whether it was Bang for Buck or not, plus the reason, if any, behind buying it.
54Just a little reminder, keep them coming in by emailing thebuckleys at platformmedia.uk or message us at the Buckley's pod on Instagram and TikTok. Oh, Christ. Oh, fucking hell. Fucking downed a lot of beer during that swipe, Claire. As we're looking back at 2025, here's something our producers have found that was released this year they wanted a verdict on from us. Oh. It's the electric... It's the electric salt spoon. Eh? Well, here we go. It's a 130-pound spoon that shocks your tongue if food tastes saltier without adding salt. Oh, I know about this. I've looked into this. It's from Japan, Claire.
41So, you know, it's from the future. They've already got hover balls over it. You said that wrong. Yeah, no, I read what it said. No, but I do know about this. I will go on to explain it better now. Okay, God forbid. You know salt's meant to not be good for you, even though I don't think there's actually any scientific proof. There's no concrete. That's a whole thing, right? But salt tastes great, right? It makes everything taste brilliant. Everything's salty for me. Anyway, so Japan's got this spoon and what it does is it stimulates or something the receptors in your tongue that like salt. So if you're having something like a bit of broth or some soup, You're like, oh, God, that could do with a bit of salt.
26But I don't want to add salt because it's bad for you. Right. This spoon will make it taste saltier for you. Right. 130 quid. They're living in the future, man. I've got to get to Japan. Got to get to Japan. You should. I've got to get there. Yeah, go. They'll think I'm a caveman. They'll think I'm some sort of Neanderthal. I'll end up in a museum or something. I'll tell you what, right? It uses a mild electric current to pull sodium ions towards your taste buds, boosting saltiness by up to 1.5 times. It electrocutes you. It doesn't electrocute you. It uses electric current, Claire, to get the ions, the salt ions, right?
08Okay. You can't just sit there with your eyes shut while I'm talking to you. It's aimed on people on low salt diets who still want flavour. it runs on batteries, has four intensity levels. I don't believe a fucking word to this. There's no way that you can put something in your mouth that runs on batteries that makes you taste salt. Japan. I'm not buying it. Japan. And neither are you. Japan have embraced science. They love science in Japan. Put your horns down. You're bugging the shit out, mate. Japan loves science. They love science. And no matter how silly the problem is, they're always up for trying to use science.
46To be fair, I do like seeing stuff like that and it is always in Japan. I'm not talking about science or whatever but they've always got stuff that's like they use little claws to eat crisps. I've bypassed that though. How? You just pour them into your face. I eat crisps like a drink. I open up the bag and then just... And then I don't get... What's it flavouring all over my fingers? True, true. Well, has somebody bought this? No. This is just from the production company. You're trying to get him to buy it, aren't you? You fucking are. Hang on. Hang on a second. You've just said I'm having none of it.
28I don't believe it works. No, I don't. Challenge accepted. I'm sure I can get one off of Amazon. And finally, we've had a bang for bucks sent in by a listener from Sam. Sammy! Subject heading. Croc. Bracket of shit. Question mark. Hello, Mr and Mrs Buckley. My name is Sam. Hello, Sam. Big fan of the pod. A couple of weeks ago, I purchased a pair of South Park. Crocs did a collaboration with South Park. I saw this. This came up on my Instagram. Specifically, the Kenny Crocs. For an absolute steal of£70. Not including postage and packaging. I was excited to share my latest plunder with the love of my life, my dear Abby.
09When she got home and saw them, she did not share the same enthusiasm. She thought they looked ugly and was horrified I'd spent money on them. She said, I hope they didn't cost you too much. I lied and said£40. That's what you do. You got to do that. But that was with£5 postage. Yeah, so£35 I basically spent on it. That's what you say. But my lie unravelled when she found the delivery note in the drawer stating£70. You gotta fucking burn your receipts You gotta get rid of the evidence Amateur Sam She shouted at me for wasting money On useless items You should have seen her face when I told him I'm not even wearing them They're a collector's item You do that with stuff all the time Can't be dealing with that I'm not into collecting stuff It's an investment You should have seen her face when I told him I'm not even wearing the collector's item So what do you guys think?
06Was this bang for buck? See picture below Now I'll tell you something Look I'm trying to get on my good side What do you mean? Look at him I see what he's done there Look at the picture Not you Sam Well He's got all the Lord of the Rings there But then he's also got the CKY DVDs there as well He has set that up to perfection He is so proud of that Those are ugly shoes though Those are ugly They are stupid Crocs are ugly as it is. Yeah, they are stupid. And I did see these. It came up for me. I'm a big fan of South Park. It did come up in my algorithm that Crocs and South Park were doing a collaboration.
48And even I. You don't wear Crocs though. Even I were like, no. No good. But as far as spending money on silly shit, I don't I don't think £70 is a No I was going to say it's not crazy money I think that's a misdemeanour I could forgive I think a few hours of community service for that one Sure Yeah Because it's not bang for buck but She'll be fine Grind her beans one morning she'll be fine She'll be absolutely fine She'll forgive you I've I've spent a lot more money on a lot shitter things I don't even want to know No I don't even want to know You don't need to know You don't need to know oh I was this close I was talking to Harrison about it and this is the problem right Harrison is now a proper teenager he's 14 years old and you mentally are 14 years old so Harrison and James now are getting together and they're seeing stuff on Instagram and online and it's like should we get it, should we buy it Dad wouldn't you love this he's sending you stuff that he secretly wants that he knows you would fall for like I do think about this quite a lot there was a whole set of you know those ultra realistic they're about sort of I would say they're action man sized figurines so they're not like sort of your three inch figurine or your six inch they're fucking really going to do some damage kind of size and and it was a whole set of like ultra realistic like cloth like what were they?
31the original Power Rangers right the original Power Rangers I did used to love the Power Rangers how much? 500 quid fuck off it was at yeah one of our favourite stores absolutely not and it was where Harrison did go and spend 200 pounds on a very Star Wars thing realistic Luke Skywalker figurine and you can like swap their faces and stuff like this and swap their hands and things and put a cloak on them and take them off. Great fun. But they looked amazing, these Power Rangers. That's why I've got to grind my own beans. And I was going to Harrison, I was going, I sort of regret, I sort of regret not getting those because they would look so great.
09Where? In my office. Oh, please. They would look so good. The reason why I didn't go in for them wasn't the price. Right, no, I know. The Green Ranger wasn't included. Tommy. He's the best one. If they'd have had the Green Ranger... He didn't come in until later, though. No, it was very early. Was it? Do you know what? I thought the same as you. Yeah. I thought the same as you. I think this is a bit of a Mandela effect for 90s kids. I think he does come in, I think it's within like the third episode or something. No. I might be wrong. I remember watching the original Power Rangers again, maybe a couple of years ago, and I remember thinking, God, he came in way earlier than I thought he came in.
50I thought it was a really long time before he came in. But I was watching a few episodes and it might not be the third. It might be longer than that. I don't think it was. But I think it's time. I think you'd think time is just way longer when you're a kid. And they're all sort of 20 minutes long, aren't they? Yeah. And maybe like one afternoon I was sat with the boys and we were playing video games. We had Power Rangers playing in the background. Maybe we sat there and got through 10 episodes. And I was just like, oh, fucking Tommy's here already. Jesus Christ. But when you're a kid, do you know what I mean, Claire?
18Yeah, I know. I know. I know. Had they had that Green Ranger, and I assume it would have cost more than 500, but even then I would have gone, got to do it, mate. I've got to. I've got to. And he'd be going, but mum said she'll leave you if you keep doing this kind of stuff. And I'd go, I've got no choice. There's a thing about Tommy. Do you know what would be really annoying? What, James? What would be really annoying? You explain to me what would be really annoying. The five Rangers were going at 100 pound a piece. Yeah. You've got your red, blue, yellow, black. That's it. No, there's four, isn't there?
56Yeah. There's four. And then, no, is there not five? No. It's just red, blue, yellow and black. And pink. Oh, and pink. Kimberley. Sexist of me. People get hard. Absolutely. Right. So they were going for 500 quid, the five of them. And then I assume if you're dropping in the Green Ranger, you're looking at about 650 for the whole set. Because the Green Ranger alone is going to be worth more than the rest of them. Blimey too. you something James because I'm on the fucking edge so imagine this right imagine I spent 650 on all those right like yeah yeah yes 650 quid on that nonsense yeah and I come home and you go I can't I can't do this anymore yeah this is mental I've got to leave you we're getting divorced right and then imagine you took them in the divorce as well if that was the reason I would go and I'd go and I'd tell you something I'm not leaving with it then yeah so I'd be like If you said if you were divorcing me, I'd be like, well, at least I'd be with my Power Rangers.
54And you also got them in the divorce. We'd have to half. That would wind me up even more. Because I'd be like, no, take them all. Keep them all together. They're a set. Don't separate them. And you were like, no, no, no. I'll take the green one. And you can be left with the rest. Yeah, yeah. Right. That's it for this week's episode of The Buckley's. Thanks for listening.
