In short

The Buckleys episode “Shame on YOU!” is a mix of banter and rants. Main topic: British summer heat and the couple’s petty annoyances, including Claire’s dislike of sleeping with a blanket and James’s talk of investing in air con. Key claim: Britain’s summers are getting hotter now, and “moaning” about weather is a national pastime. Weekly Moan/Gripe: James complains about a petrol station requiring payment before filling; he describes accidentally driving off without paying (and later returning) and argues the system “doesn’t work.”

Notable examples

their “Buckley” viral messages from North Wales residents (football club, indie bookshop, kebab plans, veterans breakfast club) and their “Buckley” beer mats/ales.

Guests

1:23Their hot honey range is back by popular demand.

1:26Clair Buckley:Hot honey? Genuinely, thousands of fans begged Popeyes for it on social That's my little pet name for you, isn't it? Hot honey And this time, they've gone even bigger Our personal favourite, hot honey chicken sandwich is back Plus hot honey sauce and wings, all new hot honey sauce in boneless pieces And even biscuits in hot honey A biscuit, you say? With hot honey? Not a digestive, not something you dunk in your tea But the classic southern biscuit is a buttery, flaky, savoury scone thing but lighter, creamier and made with buttermilk. It's usually served with fried chicken and Cajun gravy but with the hot honey on top, it's a game changer.

2:04The flavour's what they call swicy, sweet and spicy, sticky, fiery and ridiculously Moorish. Did you just say swicy? And as always, with Popeyes is 100 % fresh chicken, marinated for 12 hours, hand-breaded and battered on site.

2:20Clair Buckley:Fresh, hot honey, swiciness. Just tell them the offer, please. If you want to try the Hot Honey range or anything else on the menu, Popeyes is giving Buckley's listeners£5 off when you spend£15. Just download the Popeyes app and use promo code Buckley's at checkout. It's B-U-C-K-L-E-Y-S. That's my name. Don't wear it out. Go on, treat yourself to a bit of swicy magic. I'm going to be getting the boneless wings, I think, with some hot honey on top. What do you think, hot honey? Popeyes tonight? Sure. Sweet. Swicy, I should say. We've gone viral, semi-viral, on the Buckley Residents Facebook group.

3:01Oh! It's very prestigious. Wow. I tell you, I spent a long time in some bathroom toilets this week.

3:08Clair Buckley:Clip that. Just clip that. I put it to the Honourable Prime Minister. Why is he still letting this happen?

3:19Clair Buckley:That's it. That's who's running the f***ing country. You're giving the nod and I'll fire. On all cylinders. On some cylinders. All right, go on then. Hello and welcome to The Buckleys, the podcast where we sit down, have a chat, moan a bit, and invite you into our lives. Before we get into it, we just wanted to remind you that you can get in touch with your stories and questions for us by emailing thebuckleys at platformmedia.uk or you can message us at thebuckleyspod on Instagram and TikTok. 3:53Clair Buckley:And if you do enjoy the show, why not go ahead and leave us a little review. Five stars would be great. I'd love it. I'd consider it a favour. Thank you. Hello. Joining me this week, I have a very special guest. It is my wife, Claire Buckley. Hello, Claire. How are you? Hello. Sorry, I was waiting for my round of applause there, but nobody cares. No. I'm good. I'm good. Thank you. That's depressing. Yeah, petty applause. Is that anything worse? I like, I take it. I love pity. You do. You know I do. You do love pity. I take pity. When somebody feels sorry for you, you proper ham it up. Hey, listen, if you didn't feel sorry for me, Claire.

4:31Yeah, well, that's true.

4:34Clair Buckley:You feeling sorry for me has led to some of the best times of my life. How have you been, Claire? I'm all right. What time? Go on. What time are you getting on the cruise? You talking about my shirt? What time? My aloha shirt. This is the Pretty Green Elvis Presley collaboration. Don't know how you collab with Elvis Presley these days, but Pretty Green managed it. For those of you listening, it's a red flowery shirt, and I like it. It's a shirt. It's a shirt, all right. It's a piece of shirt. It says. Go on, carry on. No, that's it. I was asking how you were getting on this week and you decided to just take the piss out of my shirt.

5:21I'm all right.

5:22Clair Buckley:You're good? Yeah, all right. Good week? All right week? I've been cleaning a lot this week. You have been cleaning a lot. It's been annoying. I've been properly trying to declutter the horse and clean and I tell you, I spent a long time in some bathroom toilets this week. Clip that. Just clip that. Just put that out on the socials. Yeah, no, I just heard that. Yeah. Yeah. No, not doing anything like that. Nothing fun. Just fucking elbow deep in shit stains. Fair enough. What have you been up to, Jims? It's been a warm week, hasn't it, Claire? Yeah. Hasn't it, Claire? Yes! What do you want from me?

6:03I'm here. It's just that.

6:07Clair Buckley:It's been uncomfortably hot at night. It is hot. It's very hot. Especially at night. Yeah. You can't stand it, can you? I hate it. I fucking hate the heat. honestly I get so annoyed I know you get even more sort of tetchy didn't you but a thing that you especially can't stand is that I don't need a blanket or a duvet it's so weird just lying on top of the covers I can just lie there I can just lie there all night long I don't need to hold anything it's so weird I need something to ruin me even though it's horrible and I'm sweating and I can tell that the heat was irritating because you were going, why don't you use a fucking blanket or something, it's weird, you're a weirdo you look like a weirdo just lying in sort of fetal position I mean I guess it would look weird It is weird, especially you just get your wee pants on because it's hot your wee white Y fronts Well I can't sleep naked can I?

7:05No, you do put on your shorts once you're getting, falling asleep

7:08Clair Buckley:I can't sleep naked, it makes me feel uncomfortable I always think, what if there's a fire It happened to me once when I was in Belfast. In a hotel? In a hotel. The fire alarms went off, everyone standing outside the hotel. And you were naked? No, no, no. I was wearing, I had my shorts on. I mean, it was fucking freezing. Yeah. And raining. But yeah, that's why I can't go to sleep naked, no. It's like making sure you wear clean underwear in case you're in a car crash. I don't have to be clean underwear. Rarely wear clean underwear these days. Okay. If I'm leaving the house, I'll put new fresh underwear on.

7:45I was going to say, you've got some on the day. Yeah, I know.

7:47Clair Buckley:But if I'm just at home, like over the weekend, on a Sunday, I'm going to put brand new fresh clean underwear on. That's a waste, isn't it? Yeah, that doesn't bother me. That's fine. But yes, it is official. The UK does get hot in the summer now. This isn't an ad read.

8:05So let us introduce to you the fan. No, for someone who's a hobby, I'm not happy unless I'm moaning about something, am I?

8:16Clair Buckley:So weather is just your perfect. Living in Britain, if you love moaning, the weather is just your go-to. You can moan all year long, can't we? It's too hot, it's too cold, it's too wet. And it is too fucking hot, Claire. You love it. And I say this to you every summer when it gets too hot, you're always like, oh, I can't wait for summer. I hate the rain and the wind and the cold. It's too cold. And then it gets too hot in the summer. Yeah. Right? So that's why I love it. That's why I love British weather. The thing is, right, is that we do now have summers in Britain. I think we do. It used to be that whole thing was like, oh, that summer lasted a week.

8:53Clair Buckley:And it was. For about two weeks every year, I'd be pricing up air conditioning units and stuff. I know. And then by the time it gets around to having something installed or buying something like that, it's cold again. I do think I need to invest in a little air conditioning unit now. I'm up for it. But I do think the country is getting warmer. A little warming? Well, I don't want to get into all that. But I have never, I have never, ever been as cold as waiting for the fucking bus when I was going to school. I've never been that cold again. Yeah. We used to see our teacher and he would come from Hackney into Essex.

9:32Clair Buckley:And he taught at our school. and I know what a teacher is carry on a couple of times he gave us a lift and it was I know yeah different times now different times imagine Harrison coming home being like Mr So-and-so gave me a lift I'd be going what? it was the greatest thing ever if he did oh my god it was literally life saving worth the hand job well yeah it was literally life you can't say that no that didn't happen That didn't happen. I apologise, Mr. F***ing Molly Jotten. He's one of the teachers that has left a mark on me. No, but he, well, you say that, he did stop. I don't know if someone had a word and said...

10:19You can't do that.

10:20Clair Buckley:Don't give the kids a lift to school anymore. But he was well all right. Yeah, yeah. There was nothing, and I'd like to go on record, there was nothing nonce about him at all whatsoever. Okay. Like, not even a whiff of nonciness. Okay. Not at all. so I don't want that and then he eventually we'd see him and we'd go I'm Mr **** and he'd go just wave at us and drive past it would be like shit rain sucks your head through just sort of like just a constant spray but yeah the world's getting hotter and I tell you what it's great for people who like to moan like me Claire which brings me on to our next go on James we'll kind of fucking wait to hear what this is brings me on to our next feature which is called Weekly Moan slash Gripe.

11:05Clair Buckley:Just a quick one for you, Claire. Right. I was back in the ends recently. I was back in Narm and I had to fill up the car to get back home again. Right. Because I live far away from Dagnum now. I made a few quid. Right, that's what you mean. Okay. I needed that one explained. Oh, you don't know the Narm? No. Dagnum. Right. So I had to fill up the car and because I'm a big shot nowadays I just, you know, I don't put 20 quid in or whatever. I just fill it up to the top. I've told you this. I've told you this It's one of those little things that we were talking about It makes me feel like I'm a big shot Big cheese Petrol is expensive But anyway I was filling up in Dagnum And obviously in Dagnum you need to pay for it before you fill it up Because I'm from Dagnum And we will We'll have it off your hands Don't you worry about that If we can get away with it Free petrol Of course we will Not fucking idiots So you have to pay for it And then I got into a whole thing Didn't have cash on me obviously as I've established I'm a big shot so they were like how much do you want I went I don't know how much is it going to cost to fill it up can't tell you right so I had to sort of go back and forward with this guy well could you know just to say could you know just to put 40 quid in it just for that time just to make it easier no because then I've got to go to a petrol station and look that's just kicking the problem further put the can down the road Claire for our breath I tell you it's the heat but it became a big thing and I just want to stop this pain, this system.

12:34Clair Buckley:Are you alright with your microphone? I'm getting told to move it up. It's fucking fun. Don't, it's not me. Look. You've completely... James, I'm sorry but James has gone, James has gone, move your mic up. You've completely ruined the flow of my moan. Right, just be quiet for a second. Let me get to the end of this moan. Right, okay, we don't need my mic. When the fuck do you need to listen to me anyway during this? This whole system of pain before you fill up doesn't work. No. We need to come up with a new system. No, it doesn't. All right. In the end, because I'm a big shot and he knew I was a big shot, he was like, right, just go and fill it up.

13:12Clair Buckley:He was like that. So he trusted you? He trusted me. Right, okay, okay. He shouldn't have because I was straight in the car. Bombed it off. I did. Did you think about it? I thought it might be funny if I did. I have done that before though. By accident, I bet you. Yes. I did it by accident. I was at a garage, filled up my car, and sometimes, like for your BPs and your shells, I've got an app that I can just, I don't have to go in and stuff like that. And I got a bit confused. So I filled up my car, then got back in the car and drove off without going in and paying for it. And then about five minutes down the road, I was like, I was really quick in that petrol station.

14:01Clair Buckley:That took no time at all. Because in my head, I was driving home from somewhere. I was like, right, I need an extra seven minutes. Because I like to plan and time everything. I was like, fucking hell, that was the quickest I've ever filled up the car before. That was so good. And then I was like, oh, did I pay for it? So I drove straight back. But if you're doing it on the app anyway. No, it was a place I wasn't using it. Oh, shit. Yeah, I'd got used to using the app. That's why you just get in your car and like, right. So even when I'm using the app, though, I like to sort of sit there. It takes about 30 seconds.

14:36Clair Buckley:You sit there with the app just to make sure that it's gone through. It goes, oh, thank you. Here's your receipt. I just filled up the car, got in the car, drove straight off. I did drive straight back. And did they say, oh, yeah, we noticed? Yeah, they said, yeah, we noticed that. I was like, oh, God, so sorry. Sorry about that. Oh, well. But I paid for it. hey listen Claire let's sort your microphone out let's sort your microphone out and then we'll carry on doing this podcast stop touching your microphone Claire because we're going to be fiddling about with it all day long I need to talk to you Claire about a town called Buckley nice a few weeks back we talked about the town of Buckley which is in fact a real place in North East Wales yeah I know that that's why I mentioned it it seems the people of Buckley yeah Our people have spoken and apparently we've caused quite a stir in the town.

15:31Clair Buckley:We've gone viral, semi-viral, on the Buckley residents' Facebook group. Oh! It's very prestigious. Wow. We've also had a few messages come in from the good people of Buckley themselves. Oh. Shall I read you a couple, Claire? Sure. This one's from Mark. He says, I'm a coach at Buckley Town Football Club. Come on, we've got to get involved in this, haven't we? Yeah, absolutely. And your section about the town has gone viral up here. Just wanted you both to know that you would always be welcome to visit our club. Happy to make you honorary bucks. Okay. That's what he says. Right. What does that mean?

16:06Clair Buckley:Up the bucks. Go on the bucks. Okay. We've got another message from Emma and Adam. You're absolutely correct. Buckley is a place. I do. I know. And you should absolutely come do the Buckleys live in Buckley. Yeah. We should. we are an indie bookshop called the berwin that hosts some brilliant events and we'd love to have you that sounds perfect yeah that does sound fun i don't know man i think we've got to make this happen it's a long old way it is far away steven messaged in heard you mention my little town in north wales i was brought up in buckley and lived there for 21 years my parents still live there and would love it if you came to Buckley and did the podcast in their house.

16:48Now that I'd be up for. What's their names?

16:52Clair Buckley:We're going to have to follow that up, Stephen. He says, we won't tell them, we can just turn up. No, I'm not doing that to them. I'd hate that if somebody did that to me. I'd be furious. Got some messages on Facebook. Is this our actual Facebook? Buckley Residents. This is the Residents of Buckley Facebook group. Andy says come to the Veterans Breakfast Club in Buckley full brekkie then a couple of beers after perfect pop into Zozans Zozans Zozans for a legendary kebab after a night rocking in the Tivoli Tivoli Mike claims that he's seen James in Buckley before he did a DJ set at the Tiv about 14 years ago No, I don't think so.

17:44You must have done. He's not going to make it up. It's on Facebook. It must be true.

17:49Clair Buckley:That's how it works, isn't it? I'm not sure that's true. I feel like I'd remember that. Doing a set in Buckley. I feel like if I did a DJ set. However. You don't remember a lot. I do keep telling you that I'm going to finish it. Yeah. It's what's going to finish me off. Well, Dagenham won't recognise you, so maybe Buckley will. Maybe we could be turning on the Christmas lights in Buckley. There you go. We've got to sort this out. We've got to do something. We've got to do something with Buckley. A key to the town? I'd take a key to Buckley. I feel like Johnny Knoxville, because he's named after the town.

18:24Clair Buckley:Is it Tennessee, Knoxville? Oh, right, right. I mean, but Buckley is my real name. Yes, that's true. It's not mine. One more email off the back of the Buckley town stuff. This is from Mike. I'm a regular listener from Canada James mentioned that there's a town in Wales called Buckley I'm curious if you're aware of the Canadian brand of cough syrup called Buckley's Mix that with a bit of vodka That's what all the rappers like The company is over 100 years old and their cold and flu products are staples here in Canada Since the 80s, the Buckley slogan has been It tastes awful and it works It's kind of like our podcast, isn't it?

19:06It's shit, but it's a podcast.

19:09Clair Buckley:I remember saying something similar to you when we first started going out. Good luck. That got an audible sigh there in the room. What would our slogan be? It sounds awful. And it is. Yes. Perfect. We'll see you in Buckley. Sounds awful. It's also boring. Yeah. That's what our slogan would be for this podcast. So, hold on. You've just been given something because... Because there's Buckley Corp syrup. We've actually been using these for a couple of episodes. There's a place on Buckley. Oh, this is actually James Buckley. Yeah. Can we get a close-up on this? Can people see that? We've actually been using these beer mats for a couple of episodes now, and we keep forgetting to mention them.

19:54Now, this is Welsh as well.

19:56Clair Buckley:There must be something. There must be something. Well, they're just... Refreshing food flavour. The whole country is just full of legends, it turns out. is a proud reminder of James Buckley 1801 to 1883 who as a son of founder Reverend James Buckley established Buckley's ales as part of Welsh beer folklore the good Reverend James Buckley we should probably mention to people who are listening and not watching that we are it's a beer mat we're holding beer mats but they're genuine actual beers and ales I've got Buckley's Best Bitter brewed by Crown Buckley I should have that one in Lallany I'm bitter you are bitter and there's also James Buckley Ale, which is also brewed by Crown Buckley.

20:37That's twice you've tried to say Buckley and twice you've said it right.

20:40Clair Buckley:It's difficult, isn't it, saying your own name? Established in 1767. Imagine that. Oh, so you were there at the beginning then? James Buckley, 1801 to 1883. You just ignored me. Who is son of founder Reverend James Buckley. I just fucking read that, sir. Oh, did you read that out? I wasn't paying attention. Anyway, there's some Buckleys. It's the natural Buckley. If you've got anything to do with Buckley, then... Any more Buckley stuff? Any more Buckley products, let us know. We'll talk about it on a podcast. Maybe we could become mayor, mayors of Buckley. You can do it. I'm fine. I'm all right.

21:17You're all right. You're not fussed. Nah.

23:20Clair Buckley:Hey Claire. Yo. Apparently we're running a bit low on content for this episode, Which is why I always tell our dear listeners to email us with any stories that they've got. We've got one here from Jamie. Jamie! And it's off the back of me talking about losing my hair. Have you talked about that? I guess so. I can't actually remember it. But I guess I have. I'm nearly 40. The hair's thinning. You'd never know, Matt. It's fine. But Jamie says, Hi, Buckleys. Thought you might enjoy my story. I'm the same as James. If I were to go bald, I certainly wouldn't look cool or manly. This is what I said, didn't I?

23:57Clair Buckley:I'm not masculine enough to pull off the bald guy look. Right, yeah, I do remember that. I just looked like I was really, really ill. So I decided to get a hair transplant in the UK, not Turkey. Anyway, I walk in on the day of the procedure and meet my surgeon. She was an older lady and wasn't the friendliest. Nothing against women. It felt like she was judging me. For example, I admitted I'd had a few beers days before the surgery, which you're not meant to do. And she tutted and rolled her eyes at me. Oh, God, that's awful. It's a long process. So she told me to pick a film to stick on the TV while she attacked my scalp.

24:38Clair Buckley:Well, I opened a sleeve of DVDs. Wow. Where did you go, Jamie? Where did you go? Some old woman's basement. And a 1989 magazine. I opened a sleeve of DVDs and what's staring back at me, the Inbetweeners movie. Haven't watched it in ages. So picture this. Oh, no. Getting operated on your head by a grumpy, judgy old woman. And just as the film goes on, you remember the first scene is Jay wanking with ham and wearing a fucking mask and snorkel. Made it a bit awkward. I tried my best to talk over it, but she knew. I kept trying to talk over the rude bits, but missed a beat, and at the same moment, the TV seemed to get much louder.

25:29Clair Buckley:The following echoed through the room. There's a fit bird up there who's so wet for me, I can hear the waves breaking in her fanny. I'm going to down this, take her down the beach, and fuck her brains out. Good Lord, was that you that said that? I think so. It sounds like something I would have said in the in-betweeners. The surgeon at that point went over to the TV, turned it off, and didn't say another proper word to me for the remaining three hours. Oh, fucking cheat up, then. I tried to break the silence a few times and just got, hmm, fucking torture. So anyway, hair transplant, will probs be purposefully shite?

26:08Clair Buckley:Do you think she bodged up your hair transplant? and it was definitely the most awkward afternoon of my life. Why did you pick that? Jamie, can we have a little follow-up from you? I'd like to just, I might not read it out on the podcast, but I'd just like to know your thoughts and... And also where you went, so you make sure you don't fucking go there. Yeah, let me know these things, Jamie. Get in touch with all the sort of boring details and maybe some before and after pictures just for my own personal use. I'd appreciate that. But yeah, stick in... Listen, if you don't like the Inbetweeners movie, you're a dickhead as far as I'm concerned.

26:44Of course. I thought the second one was shite.

26:46Clair Buckley:What DVD? That's the one. Well, you weren't complaining. That's the one that paid for everything, Claire. So don't worry about that one. I thought that was your favourite. What DVD would be acceptable in that situation? Would you stick on The Exorcist, obviously? Oh, for me? It seems like a weird set-up. This whole thing sounds really odd. It's a long old procedure and you've got to sit there. It takes hours to stick something on TV while you're getting your... I thought you would be under it, no? No, obviously not, no. I'm sure there's local anaesthetic. I think anything to do with the head. I don't know.

27:27I don't know.

27:28Clair Buckley:I'd probably stick on Backdoor Sluts 3. Okay. Right, Claire. Yo, yo, yo, yo. It's time for Buckley's Law. Let's have the jingle.

27:45Clair Buckley:OK, this is the segment where we... That's the only one I don't hate. This is a segment where we discuss new laws that we will pass when we're in power. Keep your suggestions coming in. When we're mayors of Buckley. When we're mayors of Buckley. You can email thebuckleys at platformmedia.uk or you can message us at thebuckleyspod on Instagram and TikTok. I've got a quick Buckley's Law for you, Claire. Go on. One of our favourite YouTube channels to watch as a family. We all like to sit down and watch. It's a little channel called Cartnarks. Love it. It's a lot of fun. It's really good. And it's a bloke that busts people for not taking their trolley back to the designated area.

28:28Clair Buckley:They just leave it out in the car park and stuff. American guy goes all over America, doesn't he? He does, yeah. He's been to the UK as well. Has he? Yeah, he's done like a UK special. I always put my trolley back. I always put my trolley back because it's just what has to be done. No one likes doing it. No. It's annoying. It's annoying, especially if you're parked far away. Well, here's what I like to do, Claire. Park next to it. I don't park next to it. That's dangerous for the car. Because then you're going to get a trolley in. But I park near it. Even if that means I'm slightly further away from the supermarket, I'd rather at the end just have a little trip to get my trolley back.

29:07Clair Buckley:But I am, but I am, I do always put my shopping trolley back, not because I'm a great guy, not because I think, well, it is, you know, it is just the done thing, it is what should be done. Yeah. Because I am a lazy bastard. I do it out of fear of being shamed for leaving my trolley. Right. And that's how, there should be more of this in the world. Shame them. Yeah, people don't feel shame these days, do they? Shame them. The amount of times where you're driving down and there's cars parked on each side and you see a space, you go oh great you go to turn in there's a fucking trolley in the middle there this is what I'm telling you about Claire this whole attitude horrendous lazy you know I am me take me for you know warts and all take me for if you've got a problem with me that's your problem that's not a good attitude to have at all whatsoever yeah but that's not those people you should feel ashamed sometimes yeah of the stuff that you do so that then you go oh I better be a better person from now on we should do our own one then just shout like if you see somebody leaving their trolley just shout shame shame on you shame on you we'll do that yeah and if you see anybody leaving their trolley do that that's the type of thing that they'd shout in the house of lords or or in the commons or whatever you ever watch parliament tv is that still a thing is that still on tv all these sort of posh people going shame on you They do, they make that noise as well Yeah, they fall asleep on the benches Oh great, yeah Really on top of it I put it to the honourable Prime Minister Why is he still letting this happen?

30:52Clair Buckley:That's it, that's who's running the fucking country We can do that

30:58It's got progressively worse every day you've got it

31:01Clair Buckley:Maybe he should go to Specsavers.

31:08Clair Buckley:That's a good impression. You've got to watch Parliament TV. I'm on it. I'm on it. But yeah, shopping trolleys. You people who leave your shopping trolleys just out in the car park, your days are numbered. Yeah, you don't know. Once we're in power, you're getting fined. Possibly prison sentence. Possibly death. Because I'll be getting the death penalty back. That'll straighten people up. Oh. Even for the minor, minor stuff. For the shopping trolley. Really minor stuff. If you... And we'll day it with a shopping trolley. We'll beat you to death with a trolley. That's what it is. Whatever you day, we're daying it to you.

31:45Clair Buckley:We'll slam two shopping trolleys into you. Or... I said an eye for an eye. Or tie you to four shopping trolleys. We'll all just poo it. Yeah. Right. I've got a suggestion here from Kevin. It says here... Kevin. Oh, you know it. Scottish people don't know that. Well, not just Scottish people. Aye, but you just don't get it. Go on. This is health and safety. He says, I think health and safety should be outlawed. Right, hang on, Kevin. You're losing me here, mate. You just wanted to tie somebody to four shopping trolleys and pull their lums off? That's punishment. Oh, right. That's punishment. And it will be done in a safe way.

32:25Clair Buckley:People will be trained. Why is training now required to use a ladder or lift? Oh, I get, I strip, common sense stuff. Just, right, you got me back, Kevin. I was just talking, I was just talking about this on the way in. The world's gone mad, Claire. And signage everywhere, caution, hot water, floor slippery when wet, danger, high voltage. He says nothing against stupid people or women. No, he doesn't say that. Hey! He doesn't say that. Watch yourself here if we fucking flourish our own. Nothing against women. I always say that, nothing against women. I love women they're great but if you need to be told not to lick a live wire then maybe we should stop fighting natural selection you and Kevin are going for a beer aren't you right Kevin mate you're going to be a part of the set up somehow you're going to be on the bench going because here's a conversation that me and Claire had literally about 45 minutes ago where I listened to the, we all Mind the Gap.

33:33Clair Buckley:We all remember that, don't we? We all love it. Mind the Gap. You remember that? On the tube. On the tube, sure. It's not Mind the Gap anymore. It's now Mind the Gap between the train and the platform. Now we need to start telling people where the fucking gap is. Mind the Gap wasn't enough. People were still falling in the gap. so it's like mind the gap between the train and the platform you see when you come off they're back to overhaul and you know what Kevin what did you say if those people here's what I said if those people slip through the gap and get squashed then maybe it was a good thing natural selection while we're trying to protect them all

34:22yes

34:23Clair Buckley:yes Kevin I see what you're saying though However I do think that health and safety is important But obviously your own health You need to be accountable for your own health and safety It's the common sense stuff And I remember when I started working in a factory When I was about 18 And we spent a whole afternoon on how to lift a box Now fair enough I get that you can hurt your back If it's heavy and stuff So just you say you know Bend the knees, keep the back straight Do it like that That's it a whole fucking afternoon of all those stupid little things. It makes you feel like an idiot, doesn't it?

34:58I get it.

34:59Clair Buckley:I get offended. I get offended by that. I had a similar thing. But you have to do it. It's a health and safety day. I had a similar thing. I started making a TV show in America. They're big on health and safety, aren't they? Well, the Me Too thing had just come out. Right. And I had to have a whole afternoon being told not to touch women inappropriately. And I was like, I know. They hate it. Is that going in? That's not my goal But I did I had to spend a whole afternoon But again It's just It's normal It's common sense It is common sense Yeah Yes And I was genuinely offended I was like I'm not being funny I really I don't need to be here I know I like to joke about it But I don't need to be told Not to you know Comment on Finger a woman As she walks past you I think that's a bit far I don't think anybody's doing that Well You've not been to Hollywood baby Jesus JP in Australia's here He says, hi team, first time emailer, long time listener I don't think that's how he would say it He says, twats who say this on the radio Our social media should definitely be sent to live away from everyone else Instant ban Well the irony there, JP from Australia Is that we did used to send those people to Australia And we've run out of places to send people now You getting too political for me again No, I love that, first time caller, long time listener I love that, when people call into a radio show Yeah, I don't mind that I don't mind that.

36:23I thought that's how he was just opening his email.

36:25Clair Buckley:He did open it there. Right. And then he said... He hates it. Twats who say this on the radio should be sent to live away from everyone else. Right, okay. Yeah, it's called Australia. Kieran. Kieran. The subject of his message is icky-picky. Here we go. Sorry, just burping. He says, I felt compelled to email in about how much hatred and vulgarity I have for the term photo dump. Yeah. OK, yeah. I often see people post holiday dumps. Yeah. And although it's a collection of lovely holiday pictures, I can't help but mentally replace them with just a massive, grotesque shit in a toilet. Can we ban the term, please, Buckleys?

37:13Clair Buckley:Kieran, you're absolutely correct. In fact, Adam and Joe, when they were on the radio, they used to do a thing of sort of nice, pleasant things that sound gross. And holiday dump. Photo dump, yeah. Photo dump. Yeah, that would definitely fall into that. Yeah, he's right. Yeah. So that's getting banned. Just taking a big holiday dump. That takes us back to Barbados. You want to go into that, do you? No. Because that's you. That's a Claire anecdote, that is. no I don't know what I'm about you won't be getting people going oh she's so beautiful she's so hot in the comments anymore we talk about that story they'll be going you want to talk about your holiday dump I think we've covered it I think people get the gist okay coming out the top right Kevin's health and safety we're banning that for common sense there's got to be some sort of line here no health and safety is important aye but what he's You're responsible for your health and safety.

38:17Fine. Right.

38:18Clair Buckley:All right. The four and then. First time you mail out. Like the thing, the slippery when wet thing, right? I don't run through supermarkets. No. I walk naturally at a pace where if something was maybe to be slippery, that I'd be able to go, oh, all right, we're okay. Unless you're fucking walking around like a lunatic. Like these things you just got to naturally be ready for. Anyway, you shouldn't have to have a sign telling you. if you walk too quickly on a shiny floor there might be a part of it that's slippery and you might fall over I don't mind them what if somebody spilled a load of oil or something it happens yeah so I don't mind the wee slippery floor sign yeah but that's if they've cleaned it but somebody might have dropped a jar of pickles and then there's a jar of pickles all over the floor and if you're just like going at a pace that might be dangerous.

39:15All right, fine. All right, fine. Let's do it. Let's do it. Let's do it. Right, and then photo dump. We're banning that. And also, if you fall. I tried, guys. I'm trying to end it.

39:23Clair Buckley:No, but if you still fall over and there's a sign. Then it is. But that's what they need to do. The supermarkets are covering themselves. I would be embarrassed. If I slipped over and broke my ankle in a supermarket and they came to me and went, oh, God, are you going to sue us now? I'd go, no. no don't tell anybody you don't say anything I won't say anything I don't want anyone to know about this at all whatsoever I mean phone's an accident I don't think anybody means to date as an adult what if it's a win there's a great big bracket of age right between earliest and oldest there's a whole there's fucking decades there where you should be able to walk properly yeah okay fine All right.

40:11Clair Buckley:Fine. Kevin, you're in. JP, first time caller, long time listener. No, I love that. I love it when people say that. So, sorry. And Kieran, yeah, photo dump. Yeah, we'll get rid of that. Yeah. We'll get rid of that. Hey, listen, Claire. Yeah. I've run out of energy. So, let's just call it a day, shall we? I thought it was never going to happen. James and Clair take on British weather, health and safety, and the ruling classes. They hear back from the proud residents of Buckley Town – and one unfortunate listener learns the hard way why The Inbetweeners Movie is a terrible choice to watch during surgery.
