Guests (and who they are)

  • Daiki Hoshino: 24-year-old Japanese skater from Gunma (2 hours from Tokyo). Started skating at 8 after parents asked; first board was Black Label. First big break came via a tsunami-blocked One Park skatepark; his mentor Hide built/ran the park and taught him videos/fashion. US breakthrough included meeting Huff team in Tokyo at 14 and visiting LA; he later rode Half Japan trips. Now rides Crooked (Deluxe family).
  • Hosts/regulars: Safer, Donovan, DJ Jones, Ghost, and Ant (behind-the-scenes). JT Alt appears in Random Skater of the Week.

  • He says bearings are his biggest setup stress; he cleans them monthly with pot cleaner and oil.
  • He chose Crooked after dropping his video part, aiming for a dream sponsor list as a kid.
  • He wants Thrasher cover, Crooked part, and to film for The Bunt video; ultimate goal is Skater of the Year.

Notable examples

  • Daiki’s gap-to-backlip clip in a Japan Huff video (landed after scary attempts).
  • Spicy hot pot in China causing intense next-day pain (“so spicy, my butthole”).
  • Setup specifics: Swiss ceramic bearings, 93mm wheels, size 7 slip-on shoes, Indie 149 trucks, paper grip, Cricket ball 8.5.

1:05Davis Torgerson:good to be back to our regularly scheduled programming you know i'm saying quite the hectic couple weeks for us but in a good way but yo this week he was at the jam he was shredding you may have seen his backsmith kickflip on the hubba it's daiki hoshino young goat in the making you know i'm saying hilarious homie uh he's actually been to three out of five month jams so shouts to you dyke we appreciate you uh great conversation with him and we go on straight to the post office with a little you know random skater tucked in between and then of course football season is here oh it's a beautiful thing to watch we're back stacked episode we are back man it was a long two weeks but we needed it had a lot going on make sure to follow us on our instagram at the bunt live subscribe to us on our youtube youtube.com slash the bunt hit us up on our patreon patreon.com slash the bunt and then head over to our website thebuntlive.com every episode logged for your listening pleasure the web shop is still up and running but we're gonna have some breaking news for that as well we have some gear from previous seasons a little bit left over we've got some stuff from the bunt jam and we're just gonna have one massive drop throw it all on the bunt store i don't know exactly when maybe black friday vibes in in that time or something you know buy some gifts for your family but the biggest sale you've ever seen is coming to the bun store ghost what i just i can't this damn flower is distracting me i feel like pippy long stocking over here a little red hair on the side but uh sorry i i just got distracted continue okay i mean that's all i needed to say man the bun store is about to pop up and uh just wait on it man we'll keep you all posted we'll get pictures of all the new stuff up on our socials you'll see it um man you know what time it is with two weeks off i'm sure you got a lot to talk about it's the ghost shout out of the week lately skate videos are treated as disposable content algorithms decide what gets seen and full lengths are reduced to a couple of clips in a feed that's not how skate videos are meant to be experienced that's why the den was built The Den is THE skate video app.

3:34Davis Torgerson:It has a deep catalog of videos preserved the way filmers intended them to be seen. From the classics to the latest releases and even a couple of 24-hour live channels, The Den was made so when something special comes along, it stays front and center long after the feeds moved on. So if you care about skate videos like we do, get The Den for free on iPhone, android the web apple tv and amazon fire tv probably no surprise you know i'm saying long time in the making shout out of the week i mean i hate to pat ourselves on the back but we got to give it to ourselves the bunch video is here uh yes lots of jokes about how long it took we hope it was worth the wait uh i'd rather take longer and feel good about it and rush it out you know I'm saying these days everyone wants everything right now, but we're old heads and a lot of our friends are old heads and it takes a while to stack clips.

4:32Davis Torgerson:Um, and bro, I mean, Mitch Curtin's insane. Uh, a lot of those clips were done in the last, his biggest hammers in the last year. So if we rushed the video a year or two or three ago, it wouldn't have hit as hard. So I'm so happy with how it turned out. Uh, so proud of everyone involved. You know what I'm saying? D Jones, your whole part was basically fucking this year this past year so you know i'm saying if we put the video out a year ago you would have had negative two clips or something so i mean i don't know how i would go minus i mean hey that's your theory you know and anything's possible in this game but yeah man the video definitely uh was planned to be something a little bit different than it turned out to be but i love the shape that it took with all the guys we've gone on trips with coming through with their parts and uh couldn't be happier man yeah yeah i mean for me um for me it's bittersweet the whole thing uh morgan's in my part which i love as the two guys who've been injured for i think morgan's been injured a couple months longer than me almost two years for me so it's been beautiful to watch the video come together but also frustrating and sad that me and morgan and hardy weren't able to contribute in the last two years but seeing the final product i'm just so so proud of everyone in the video and so thankful for a gazillion filmers and past um podcast guests that made the video what it is so um i think we're all we're all proud and um it's okay to say that you know i'm saying i feel like we worked hard and and it came out great and go watch it again or go watch it for the first time go watch safest part multiple times man and then come back and put some more respect on his name all right you all wanted a switch smith and you got it the rail is a different color but it don't matter and let me just put this out there right now but thank you donald uh a lot of people keep asking about that shit and i i sometimes i forget it's not like everyone's listening to every pod or every intro If you really listen to every episode, you know I've been injured since Melbourne.

6:47Davis Torgerson:And I was injured when we were there. And that's the only reason I didn't try SwitchSmith. So now you can see that I might be able to do it. So Shane O 'Neill. There's lots of them. If I'm healthy and we're back in Melbourne before I'm too old, I am still claiming to SwitchSmith. We might actually go back there. So do you want to go down? Yes. If I'm healthy, I don't give a fuck. come on all right and uh yeah so obviously massive shout out to the bun video everyone behind the scenes who helped with everything like you said the skaters the filmers you name it um thank you everyone i have a couple shout outs i don't usually do this but there were a couple videos i was hyped on wait before just last thing i thought you were ending with this the the one final biggest shout out and the biggest thank you and the biggest hug goes to our boy jason burles who put the whole video together you know i'm saying we we were able to get the clips and stuff but to put it together and it i feel like it came out exactly how we wanted even better than i ever could have imagined i wanted something that would make you want to go skate something that was light and fun to watch and but also maintaining you know a certain standard of clips i think and the music i love the music i think jay you knocked it out the park so thank you so much brother i can't thank them enough man okay yeah i don't usually do this but there were a couple videos that caught my eye to the bone by will rosenstock that richmond crew always doing man always dropping real skate videos love those guys red car theory by trevor dare on youtube absolutely wicked video and then you know someone who is close to us here at the bunt came to the bunt jam was an absolute uh pleasure to be around nora drop the video part we've been waiting years for just want to say shout out to nora on gilda masterpiece she killed it putting a lot of hard work and it was just exciting to see the part that we've been waiting for for a while we actually bumped into nora i feel like maybe a month ago now in new york asked her for a clip for the vid but she was focused on her own project so we didn't get an aura clip but i now see why she was focused on putting together a banger for the people and uh just one more thing just to all the internet keyboard warrior losers out there it just i hate that skateboarding's got to this place where where people feel comfortable shitting on people online with no repercussions but i think it's disgusting i think we're better than that and to all you who do that just take a look in the mirror there's no way someone's part annoys you to the point where you have to write that kind of vicious bullshit uh there's something wrong with you so next time you're about to spew some hate like that just just think about it first man because people read this shit and and you can get into people's heads and it's just not it's not a good thing and it's not welcome in skateboarding absolutely man look out for one another there's no point in fucking hating if you don't like it just watch it don't say anything it's actually like the most simple thing i do it all the time i watch all sorts of stuff that i don't like to take the time to try to hurt someone is it's uh it's pathetic man just just be happy that she worked so hard and was able to put something up we felt the same thing you know we got an overwhelming amount of love but with that comes a couple people and a lot of the time the hate is a lot louder than the love so just remember that man remember you can affect people on the internet whether you think it or not and uh just put yourself in their shoes is that something you'd want to be reading about yourself on a daily basis probably fucking not so you know just congratulate people on their accomplishments that's all it comes down to or keep your fucking mouth shut if you don't like it and shut the fuck up when i'm talking to you uh anyways a lot a lot of great skateboarding's come on the last couple weeks go watch it all uh we love the skate world as a whole and let's try and keep it positive and i know that's probably a little hypocritical from me with the with rapid fire and everything but there's a difference between a little sprinkle of uh some some controversy and fucking trying to fucking her people's feelings online deliberately absolutely um well i think that's it dude i think it's time it's been a long few weeks since we dropped an interview and uh we're excited to release this one so let's get into it dyke in the building let's get let's get a cracking and like mason said in melbourne man say his fucking name so here we go

11:35all right let's get it popping we've got daiki hoshino in the building did i say your name properly no perfect yeah all right so daiki what's cracking man we're hyped to have you here thanks bro thank you for having me of course man um so i asked you before you haven't really listen to a whole pod but we start every show off the same you have to start with your favorite skateboard moment and your favorite sports moment like a dream kind of but a reality like something that actually happened oh actually happened like before yeah yeah oh yeah something like when i get clips yeah that's a good answer oh yeah i like that yeah that's perfect so you're

12:24Davis Torgerson:feeling nice today you just got a clip and came straight to the booth straight to studio e oh yeah and then and then what about sports you're a sports fan i don't really watch sports but i respect them for sure i don't really watch sports so i don't really know what's the most like popular sport in in japan i feel like baseball and soccer yeah baseball you guys call it soccer over there or football? Japan called soccer. Oh, okay. I thought we were alone over here in North America. Is Otani Japanese? What? Shohei Otani? Is he Japanese? Yeah, he is Japanese. Bro, what kind of question is that, man?

13:05I got to make sure these days, man. That's not that crazy to like just confirm. The greatest baseball player in the game right now and maybe ever when he's retired. You don't know where he's from? I just hate him, dude. I mean, that's all I know about him is I don't like him. Are you a fan of Shohei's? Yeah.

13:32Davis Torgerson:Donald just started saying doesn't know where he's from, hates him with our Japanese guest here. It's crazy. I don't really know about him, but he's like a big legend for sure. yeah he was supposed to come play for the toronto blue jays oh really and then he left us hanging and he went signed with the los angeles dodgers that's where the the dislike begins and then it gets worse yeah i didn't know that yeah still a legend yeah still yeah for sure for sure daiki take us back to the beginning with you where did you grow up and how did you get into skateboarding. So I grew up, grew up at Gunma. It's my hometown called Gunma.

14:20It's a two hours from Tokyo, like North side. And then yeah, when I was eight years old, my mom and father asked me like, do you want to skate? But I didn't want to skate. And I said, no. Wow. So I went to the skate park after the happen and then, oh, I want to skate. And then so my mom has skateboard from my mom's ex-boyfriend. Like so random. And then that board was Black Label. Yeah, that's my first like, my first board. Like my, how to say it, like my first time on the board. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's my first time. and just push around on the street.

15:11Davis Torgerson:I saw you got some hesh in you, eh? Skating big rails, black label styles? Hell yeah. I don't know. That's so cool that your parents just asked you, do you want to skate? That's wicked. Did you know anybody else that was skating? I think you just started by yourself. One friend was skating, but on that time, I didn't really care like oh skate i don't know i i don't really care skating like but now after the skate park skateboard is super cool like i want to be pro skater like so much changing my mind yeah oh hell yeah yeah love that you've had dreams since a young age man yeah that's my dream so what would you consider your first big break in the skateboard industry what do you mean do you know what that means?

16:05Davis Torgerson:I don't know. What's the first thing that really helped your career start? Oh, so when I was 12, I went to a contest for like Northside in Japan. And there was a skate park called One Park. That's my sponsor now. And that's my crew now. But the One Park, Like, how to say that? The city? The one park's out? The city was blocked by tsunami, like everything. Oh, shit. Yeah. And then after that happened, my homie Hide, he made the one park at the skate park. Like, all the garage. That makes sense. Yeah, he kept the obstacles, like, in his garage? Is that what you're saying? He rents the garage, like a big garage, and then he clean up everything with no lights, no water, like from nothing, and he builds a skate park.

17:08And then when I went there on the contest, he asked me like, do you want to skate for one park? And then we can take care of you. And then I started to get on the one park, like skate for one park. Nice. And then I started going to one park every summer vacation when I was a kid. And then he showed me a lot of old skate videos, trash on magazine, and he teach me about fashion. Like, oh, you should wear this pants. Like, oh, this shirt's kind of sick. Try this one. Like, yeah, he teach me. Like, he gave me a lot of experience. Yeah. So he changed my life. Wow. Sounds like a legend. What was his name?

17:58Hide. Hide. H-I-D-E. Nice. Hide. My legend. Hide! Did you say my legend? Yeah. He's my legend. So sick. And then… Also, he sent my footage for Half Japan and then they start sending me shoes too. Sick. Yeah, so he is changing so much my life. Yeah. Nice. That's wicked. I respect him a lot.

18:32Davis Torgerson:Growing up in Japan, it's not always easy, I'm sure, to start having a career in the United States and get officially on sponsors. How did that kind of start happening for you as well down the line? The Huff was my first like actual sponsor from like a US company. When I was 14, Huff team came to Tokyo and then I met Dick Grizzo, Tider, like Austin Gillette, Brad Cromer, Matt Gottwig, like those skaters, like Huff team. So I know Tyler since when I was 14. And then I dropped my VHS part when I was 15. Tyler was checked apart. And then he told me like, you should come to LA next year. And then I came to LA and start skating with half team.

19:32But that's the first time to like skating together with the team.

19:37Davis Torgerson:Nice Yeah They saw your kickflip And they had to fly you out The next year, right? I guess I don't know No, that's a for sure thing So when did you meet Little Mason, man? I think Before he's on the half So Tyler and Mason Was talking about half Like his own or not I just ran to LA And then I met him On that day Wow, you're a Huff OG? You were on before Mason? He said he was getting shoes. Yeah. Mason never got shoes, right? Yeah. That's what's up, man. That is OG. Love that. Tell us about your connection to the song, Take Me Home Country Roads, man. What does that song mean to you? What do you mean?

20:25Like how I know that song? Yeah. From the elementary school. That's English classes. everyone have to sing that song. Oh, Shinjapan. Yeah. So you know it off by heart. I know. I don't remember like whole words, but if I see something, I can sing. So if you do karaoke, I've heard that this is your karaoke song. No, right. Not right now, but when I was like 17, like when I went to the karaoke with Titor I was singing that song

21:09what songs are you singing now at karaoke? Wizard Island in the Sun I like that song and when I went to Korea with Bond's team I was singing Nirvana

21:28Davis Torgerson:can we get a line? can we get a line from your favorite nirvana song lithium can you sing one thank just just one just one little part fuck bro i'm gonna shout bro

21:47okay in canada i will sing for you okay at the bunch m yeah it's a promise that's fair

21:58Davis Torgerson:so back to Huff and you know being so close with the Huff teams sometimes you tell each other secrets and stuff like that a teammate of yours on Huff told us that you lost your virginity on one of the trips what's the story there man? like the first time sex you mean? no? right? yeah so that was half japan trip when was this how old were you i was 16 and then i was staying at the hotel in shibuya and then my homie was staying there too and one girl hit me up and i was talking with her and she told me like i'm in shibuya too like let's hang out and then i asked tyler like can I go hang out with her?

22:54And then he said yeah I get it. And then Austin Gillette and Dick Grizzel like the other half skater like half team man told me like you got it do your best like okay I'm doing my best. Legends. And then yeah my homie was skating on the night's time so no one's there and drink a couple beers together we heard that you asked

23:24Davis Torgerson:when they were talking they were talking about girls and you said is sex good I never had is that a direct quote that's not first time that was second time in China that was my second time sex in my life and that was also half trip too oh so you lied you told them it was your first time no I told her this is my second time sex so I don't really know so can you teach me like do you like sex can you teach me sex like I asked her and she said yay I got you oh my god that's wicked that was legend shout out Shibuya man yeah dude those huff trips were huge for you man Did you ever have a Shibuya meltdown?

24:21Davis Torgerson:Never. Good. Good. I saw a lot of those two weeks ago, man. I can't. Too fucked up. And I don't really drink that much at home. So only sometimes. Just straight clips. Trying to or just skate somewhere with my homies. So you told us a little bit about your first trip to the States, coming and staying with Tyler and how he made that happen. But I think on your first trip, it was also your 16th birthday. What did you guys do on your birthday? I think that was not my birthday, but so I rode my ankle on the park of day four. But I was staying like two weeks in LA, but I couldn't skate. So he took me to Las Vegas.

25:19Yeah. I ride roller coaster first time in my life. And then last time too. I fucking hate roller coaster. I was scared. Yeah, they're pretty crazy. Yeah.

25:36Davis Torgerson:What happened on there? Are you screaming? Yeah, I was keep saying like,

25:43Nice.

25:44Davis Torgerson:That was your birthday with Tyler? Or just a random... The birthday time. So I went to go-kart with Tyler. Nice. And then do go-kart. I think we ate burger or pizza or something. And then we went to the game center. Arcade? An arcade? Oh, yeah. Sick. Dude, he showed you a good time. Yeah, that was so fun. Our kids are the best, especially when you're like 16. Yeah, great memories. Seriously. Yeah. So you used to have a different name for Thanksgiving. What was it? And tell us about your first holiday with Tyler's family. So Tyler was saying to me like, Becky, tomorrow is Thanksgiving. but I I hear thanks Kevin oh sick like what's the thanks Kevin and he said this is American like holiday like culture yeah and we're going to mom's house tomorrow okay sick and when I woke up I posted on the story like happy thanks Kevin everyone like something like that but I was like super pure.

27:07Yeah. Yeah. Like, I was serious, kind of. But Tyler just woke up and keep, like, only one time, like, die laughing straight to come to me in the morning. And then, who told you this? And then, what? Like, what do you mean? It's not Thanksgiving, like, Thanksgiving. Oh, really? I didn't know that. Sorry, I feel bad now. And he told me, that's a good joke. Okay. Yeah, that's... Yeah, so now if I go to Starbucks or somewhere, the staff asks me my name, I always say Kevin. Because easy. You need a fake Starbucks name. Dude, that's actually so smart, man. But how was the holiday at his family's house?

28:06Was it wicked to experience an American holiday like that? Oh, that was so sick. We ate turkey together. Before I ate, everyone's hanging their hand. Yeah, like they say a prayer? Yeah, I ate turkey. Yeah, that was cool. Did you cut the turkey? I think so. That's sweet. That's respect. Yeah, that was fun. very American for the day yeah rest time so I heard sometimes people play in the tour van a game where they try to get you to talk shit but it's impossible and the worst thing you'll say is big respect but no thank you how come you won't talk shit man what's the deal fuck I don't really want to talk shit And then I usually respect someone because different people, you know.

29:09So if I can do this thing, he can do this thing. But he can do this thing, but I can't do this thing. So I respect him, you know. So everybody has their strengths. but I heard that one time someone said, would you ride for Primitive for 10 grand a month? And you said, no, but big respect.

29:38I like Primitive. I think Primitive is sick. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. But Kionosuke is on already. Yeah. And AIMA is on, so I don't know. Too much Japanese skater for Primitive. I guess I don't know and my style is I feel like different a little bit you wouldn't suit it exactly you wouldn't be like a perfect fit for primitive you mean yeah I can't switch flip back tail switch flip I can't do that truly you know the different style so that's why I say no yeah

30:19Davis Torgerson:makes sense makes sense I think you found a perfect home over at Crooked so it's all good. Yeah, alright. So you're saying we can't get you to talk shit today? Nothing bad's coming out today. Alright, let's see. We'll see you a little later. When leaving New York after a great few days you might be traveling through Philadelphia. Here are a few good words to get you around that town while reminiscent about love. First up, bull. It basically means guy or dude. So if someone says that bull can skate, they're probably talking about you. Unless you just ate it, then maybe not. Next up, drawling. It means acting crazy or doing too much.

31:05So if someone says you're drawing, you might want to take it down a notch. These two words of wisdom from Philadelphia are brought to you by CHPO Brand, the worldwide leader in sunglasses and watches. always, always doing it for the people.

31:26Davis Torgerson:So, how do you like spicy food, man? I like it. Can you handle it? I can't. But I like it. But you still eat it. What was the worst experience you had with some spicy food? In China, We got hot pot, like spicy hot pot. That was fucked. I was trying to eat, but the first meat, dip it and eat it. Already so sweaty in my nose. Like bucked up. And second time, my shirt was already sweaty. And the next day, taking shit so much. And my baffle was so hurting. so spicy my buffalo yo chill damn I've been there though so spicy I can't do the spicy shit either man kills me have you ever tried the one chip challenge where you eat one chip that's super spicy hell no hell no don't do it I did it and I felt exactly how you described especially the next day.

32:44Davis Torgerson:You ate the whole thing? I had half and half with Chad. Damn. Oh, I think I saw that. We both died. Respect. Yeah. That's fine. That's for me. Thank you. You got to do that at the Buncham. One chip challenge. I do it with you. Oh, shit. All right. You do it. I'll try it. I mean, it might ruin the weekend for us. So maybe, maybe not. After the day after the Buncham. on the 30th. Do it live. All right, let's do it. It's home time. That's the plan.

33:21Like$15. Right. So I heard you're super specific about your setup, like your board and the wheels and bearings and trucks and even down to your shoes. What part do you think you stress out about the most? Like what's the most important? I think I think bearings. Yeah, I think bearings. You need them fast. I just like smooth. Oh, okay. If I feel like throw down my bearings, I feel like my body going like stuck a little bit. So I like smooth bearings. That's why I only use Swiss ceramics. Oof. So you clean them out too? Every month, I'm clean up. Do you pop the shields off or you leave it closed?

34:12So take the shield and then clean up with the pot cleaner and then put new oil like speed cream, the bones one. And then you put the shield back on? Yeah.

34:25Davis Torgerson:Wow. I do that every month. I didn't know you could put them back on. Can you, if I have a board, can you clean my bearings for me at the Bunch M? I got you. I always feel like my board is slower than everyone else's. And it always, yeah, it annoys me. But I don't know how to clean bearings and shit like that. I got it, bro. Okay, sick. That would be epic. How do you clean them? Do you like soak it in something or you spray it? So Japanese, like Home Depot has like spray type of pot cleaner. Yeah. So just like. Once a month. What else is there? What's the second most important other than bearings?

35:09What's next?

35:12Davis Torgerson:Fuck, for me, kind of everything. Yeah, just tell us your whole setup. It doesn't have to be in order. Okay. All right, so my shoes, I skate slip-ons, size 7. And the grip tape is paper grip. Okay. Extra grip one, the XG. I only skate that one. And then skates the cricket ball 8.5 with two feet, the short ball. Okay. Okay. And I skates the standard indie, like a heavy one, the standard one. Yeah. 149, 93, 54 radios. So you're going so fast. You got the soft wheels. That's all. You never skate like 99s? I have before, but 93s are so much smoother. I can go faster. You're crazy. So I like it. I love the 93s too, but I like to have both depending on the spot and the ground.

36:17Davis Torgerson:I see. I only get 93s. Nice. But why the heavy trucks? You don't like the hollow ones? I like heavy ones. because when I do ollie or like kick clip or something, I can feel more bore like this part when I catch it I can feel bore more so that's why I like it size 7 on an 8.5 is crazy but you make it I mean I'm like 10.5 on an 8.1 these days oh yeah, but we grew up skating like 7.5s so times have changed yeah so speaking of setups at one point last year you were the hottest free agent on the market and uh you decided to ride for crooked which was epic so welcome to the deluxe family you know i'm saying but uh were there any other board brands you were talking to how did you decide to go with crooked?

37:17Ah, just, I didn't drop my part yet that time. So I, I wanted to drop my video part first and then I wanted to choose my, like decided my world sponsor. Right. Yeah. So how did you decide? When I was young, my dream world sponsor was crooked, FAF, Foki Kuaizi, that's my dream sponsor when I was a kid. And then Kuaizi was asked me that time, but I didn't drop my part yet. So I said like, can you wait until drop my video part? And they said, yep. But I asked them next time, they say, we have new app now, so I don't know, we can get you on the team. So - Cause they had who? Like all three. what? They had a new AM already?

38:14Yeah, yeah. The Cooper. And Dylan was on the team. So, yeah, I just dropped my part. And then Krookic hit me up. I mean, Texas Titor and Kevin. And then they asked me, and I like Krookic too. So, and my dream sponsor. That's what's up. That's perfect.

38:36Davis Torgerson:Yeah. So I said, yes. Love that. Yeah, you set a goal and you achieved it, man. Did you talk to FA or what was the other one? Did you ever talk to those guys? I was getting board flow two years ago, but I couldn't get on the team. I just stopped getting board from FA. And then I was buying board last year and I was using random board. And then, yeah. get on crooked this year. Perfect. That's wicked. It all worked out in the end. Yeah. I'm hyped. So cool. That's a great fit. You and Gons, man. Gons. Big legend. You meet him? I never met him. Soon. Soon. One day. Yeah. And Box Truck, you did a backtail big spin in New York.

39:34Davis Torgerson:Why did they blur out the guy's face who was watching the road? I don't know. I have no idea. So random. There's a guy like watching the street obviously for cars. Yeah. And you like land and ride and go right towards him. And for some reason his face is blurred out, dude. Yeah. Was that the homie? That was Kyle Walker.

40:03Why did they do that? I don't know. Maybe he's not on the house. I'm not sure. That's so random. That's crazy. Take us behind the scenes on your legendary gap to backlip in the Japan Huff video. How was that session? Like, how did that clip come about? So, we went to that spot before that day. And I was thinking like, oh, I want to try gap to backlip. and the next to the rail, there has another rail over to the banking spot. And then on that day, I was trying to kickflip. And then I landed, but I was already tired, so I didn't skate this one. And my homie got fired up from the kickflip. Like, he got hyped.

40:56Okay, I want to do something. I want to do 50 on this rail. And then he landed like two tries. Damn. Damn. Damn, that's sick. I want to skip this tomorrow too. I want to get split on this rail too. And then he said, yeah, get it. Like, rock me up. So I tried backlit next day. And yeah, landed. Easy? Scary? That was so scary. But I was just like, go for it. And I landed this two try too. Third try? Two try. Two? Wow. Damn.

41:31Davis Torgerson:But the first one was so scary to try it. Yeah. That thing looks steep and fucking gnarly. Second try is crazy. It's steep and low. Like almost same level with the top. So it's easy to get on. But it's also so scary to get on. Yeah. Were you skating a black label board that day? Just hash as fuck? No, that was limousine, bro.

42:03Davis Torgerson:That was an amazing clip, man. I watched that a lot of times when it came out. But I feel like 50 is more crazy for me. Because back lip has more space to it. You know, like this much space on the board. But 50 is like this much. I feel you. But when it's that steep, it's so much easier to come out of a 50 than a back lip. But both tricks were amazing. So respect to everyone involved. so I don't know if you were good friends with the crew or not or if it was random but how was Jocelyn's SOTY trip you seemed like a random homie on that one but epic crew how was that yeah that was so fun nice yeah almost all crew was first time to hang out but everyone's super nice and crazy skating so many big drop stuff on that trip.

43:04But that was fun.

43:06Davis Torgerson:Great trip. So who picked the crew? Because I thought the skater picked the crew. Did Thrasher pick this one? Yeah, I think so. You know Dylan from Thrasher? He asked me for this trip. Sick. Yeah, I was hyped. Any fun stories come out of that trip? So much fun story from the trip. Like, eat for Mongo. That's there. Oh, Mofongo? Wait. Oh, Mofongo? Mofongo? I forget how to say it. Yeah, I love that shit. It's so good. Yeah, that was fire with steak. And go to swim at the beach. Oh, also, first time I swim at the Caribbean, the beach. Nice. That was sick. But my hips was so lift, like so much scratching from the spot.

44:04So that was so hurting my hip. I was screaming so much in the ocean. Oh, and the salt water went in there? Yeah. And the sand was crazy. Almost feels like mud. The sand? Yeah. Yeah, like so salt. Like if I keep standing, going like... Yeah. That was fine. That's that.

44:27Davis Torgerson:Puerto Rico is awesome. Yeah. I want to go back. And what about the Thrasher van's vacation? Or was it a weekend that you guys did? I did both. Both. Yeah. Where was the vacation to? Madrid, Bilbao, and Bordeaux. The Europe one was Zion and everyone. Crazy. You have any funny Zion stories from that trip? I mean, he's always funny. Oh, I have story from Puerto Rico about Zion. Like super legendary. Let's hear it. Yeah, he did front 50 to back 90 on the crazy big rail, 100. And then run up was so fucked up too. But he landed. I thought he drank 50, but he did back 90. And then straight to running and back flip.

45:23Or front flip. I follow what she did like backflip or something and then that so the hundred is here the cross the other side has bar so she running to the bar and then she he got shot and there has they doing the birthday party us there like random people's birthday party and she got shot for everyone and she drinking together and hang out that's sick god fucking swear Did he say, I'm here

45:53Davis Torgerson:When he got there? I don't think so I don't know Do you remember that from the bunch M When he did his kickback Smith? The tall ledge Yeah And after he landed it, he's like, I'm here Yeah Legend I love him So you think you'll ever try to move to the US full time? I want to move to the US but I don't know yet because US is so much expensive to live here and then so on this trip I've been at US about like one month or one month and half month but already my body is fucked up from skating so if I move to here I'm gonna try to film almost every day maybe but I don't know. My body is going to be fucked up.

46:54I think if you moved there, you'd be a little more chill. You wouldn't have to. I don't know. Sometimes I can't keep focused for filming if I move to here. If I go back to Tokyo, I'm not filming every day. But if I go to a skate trip, I try to skate every day. I'm trying to get clips every day. sure.

47:20Davis Torgerson:But if you move to the States, you got to just have a new routine. You can't film every day or else you'll, you won't be able to walk after the one week, two weeks. You just got to chill. Like you're in Tokyo, get clips a couple of times a week. But only thing about money. Yeah. So maybe move back to my hometown in Japan and then save my money. And then if I can get a visa this year, back to the U.S. for maybe like half a year. And then try to film in L.A., New York, SF, and maybe some other city. And then back to Japan and then go to other countries in Asia or maybe Europe and film there. I feel like that's a good problem for me now.

48:12So I can be traveling.

48:14Davis Torgerson:That sounds amazing. You just answered what's next for Daiki. Well, you're traveling a lot. Does that mean that you don't spend as much time in Tokyo? Because Tyler told me that you still don't have Wi-Fi at your place in Tokyo. But you just got a bed frame? Yeah. Wow. I mean, I don't need Wi-Fi. Because, like, almost I'm not staying at my Tokyo house all year. Maybe like half a year, maybe stay in my Tokyo house now. But half a year is gone, so I don't know. Just fuck it. I'm down to get Wi-Fi, but also I don't need Wi-Fi. Yeah. Can you give me your top three favorite Japanese skaters?

49:14Kiyonosuke, T4, and Shintaro Hongo.

49:18Davis Torgerson:Okay, shout out. Not that you ask, I'll give you mine. Excluding you. Excluding you. I'm going to tell you my favorite three. Okay. Rio. Oh, yeah. Rio is fire, too. I mean, so many good skaters in Japan. Morishige, Keiaki, Ike. Oh yeah. And you, but we can't say you and Momiji. That's my four right there. I like Momiji too. It's easy. So you kind of just answered it, but what's next for Daiki, man? What's the future got in store for you? What do you want to do? What do you mean? Like what's... What are your goals? Yeah. Skating. My dream, you mean? no like in the in the next year or two what do you want to do film a video part uh get a thrasher cover or something what what's next for you what do you want to do uh thrasher cover drop my crooked part yes drop thrasher part and get in the bond video yeah get the clip for bounce video and get ads for any sponsors nice yeah travel more countries perfect skate right love that do you want to try and win skater of the year one time yeah that's my dream oh shit yeah I want to be SOTY That's the biggest dream?

50:56Number one goal That's the number one goal? SOTY How old are you now? I'm 24 Holy shit You got lots of time bro Three times SOTY No just kidding but Maybe two times That's my guarantee You just reminded me I know it's hard but I know it's hard but I just want to I just want to have like big dream you know that's awesome that's what's up man three times SOTY I don't know if it's possible but that's my dream

51:36Davis Torgerson:Miles Silvis came on here and he said he wanted to win SOTY and then he won it the next year so dream big man you never know what might happen but three times is crazy let's get one first yeah for sure You gotta stack clips for like two years just to do it now. Yeah, I'm just saying like stupid dream. Yeah, that is a wicked dream. I hope it comes true for you.

52:04Davis Torgerson:Yo, yo, yo. It's Rapid Fire with the Ghost. And this week, we're honored to be brought to you by the fastest wheels in the game. Spitfire, baby. And goddamn, their crew went off at this year's Bun Jam. him. Zion, MVP. Nicole, three-point champ. That hurt. Hugo, best trick. With champions like that, you know they're riding the fire. Spitfire's got every shape, duro, color urethane you can ask for. Conical full 99s for everything, or something asymmetrical like a Shad's custom-designed lock-in classic 93s with lock-in on the inside for control and classic outer sidewall for versatility and you know how good 93s are for the rough spots trust me get them in canada at hammer blue tile lounge nine times and in the u.s at crooks home and 35th north all right dyke you ready for the last section rapid fire what's that i'm gonna ask you a lot of questions and it's just quick question quick answer okay rapid fire like that oh as fast as we can okay all right i'm doing my best let's see all right favorite skater bobby de kaiser luis lopez karen mason what the fuck just one one one oh wait bobby's not bobby's not in that crew but this just said the whole leg fucking all right just one yeah no that's fine that's fine we love all those guys yeah yeah great answer who is the number one out of that list though I can't pick number one, but Bobby the Kaiser.

53:45Damn.

53:46Davis Torgerson:That's crazy. I love his skating. Hell yeah. Favorite video? Minefield. Sick. Favorite video part? Fuck. A lot. But I like the Jake Johnson's minefield part. Hell yeah. That's fire. Favorite style? Bobby the Kaiser. Crank T-Pos. Sick. Which skater had the biggest influence on the way you skate? Louis Lopez Sick And Boveda Kyber Who's the most talented skateboarder on planet earth? Fuck T-Funk Diego Okay That's awesome Favorite trick? Dick Flip And Front Fable And Bucksmith I've shared

54:42Davis Torgerson:oh shit tanner would be proud hardest trick for you switch front side hill damn i have done only a few times but so hard i mean every trick is hard but that one's really hard agreed what's the most illegal trick i feel like nothing that illegal trick but But kind of crazy trick to me is hard flip 360, like hard flip trick. Yeah. But maybe someone can do like crazy, but kind of crazy, like crazy looking from the top, you know. Like if I try that trick, it's going to be like crazy. Yeah. From my view. For sure. Yeah. What's your favorite clip you've ever gotten? I think front nose popped out over the stairs in China.

55:42Davis Torgerson:Oh, sick. Way from the box truck. So sick. I like it. What's the gnarliest trick you've ever witnessed? T-Funk did like crazy drop in New York on this trip when I was in New York. Sick. It's going to be that clip in Dan's video. That was fucked up. Nice. What's the one trick that got away? In New York, at the Chinatown, you know people skate like drops up four or five stairs and then... Yeah, yeah. And you know that rail with the knob, Ben Kato skated, he did a ball slide to pop up, a backside ball slide? I can't remember. I wanna try front wall on the rail. And I was looking when I was in New York, but I was so sore and I was kind of scared.

56:33and so many cars on down there, like a market stuff. So I didn't travel. Yeah. But when I go back to New York next time, I want to try it.

56:45Davis Torgerson:Hell yeah. Put it in your SOTY campaign. What's the biggest bunt you've ever witnessed? My friend grew up together. He's super good skater, like super tech. And he asked me like, can you film this trick? I forgot what trick was that. But that was like super tech, like so hard trick. And I never seen it before. And I asked him, like, can you land it? Yeah. Okay. I think I got it too. I got you. I was filming like almost four or five hours. You know, I do sometimes. If I film a line at the spot, I take so long sometimes. So I don't really care about stuff, but what was your friend trying? I don't remember, but maybe we were kids.

57:39He was trying probably like kick clip, back tail, big spin flip or something. Like super tech.

57:52Davis Torgerson:What's the last new trick you learned? Switch back tail flip or switch tray. Oh, okay. on the flat ground do they look good? I hope so alright after this you gotta go film one on flat so we can put it in the interview alright I do sweet trail on the flat ground I gotta see that man with an 8.5 I gotta see that alright what's your dream job after your skate career? maybe do like a my brand maybe clothing or something nice do you have a name no no yet no idea yet but just for like super about future but start my brand or company or something like clothing brand and then make a like a shop at my hometown or like the one park store nice cool yeah and make skate park close by that would be awesome my advice for you but it does it's not always the case i feel like if you start it while you're still in your career and you're still very popular i think it might have a better chance than if you wait till your career is all the way over you know oh yeah yeah do it while your name's hot in the streets three times sody yeah that's what we'll call it if you're three times sody you could start at any time your name is gonna be legendary forever Favorite local brand?

59:29It's not brand, but it's crew and making clothing. One Park. My crew. Let's go. That's fire. Favorite local skater? Kizeki Katsumata. Is that the guy from One Park? Yeah. Legend. Big respect. Big respect. He's goat. Yeah. He's goat? I like that. and legend yeah

59:58Davis Torgerson:favorite teammate ever Tyra Shichir worst teammate ever Mason no just kidding yeah don't take it back that's what we're talking about do you have another one though nope Mason I love Mason but worst teammate man. He's going to love that. All right. Worst company. Like skate company or what? Yeah. Or anything. Skate company. Skate company. Fuck. It's not the worst company, but I don't know. I want to skateboard career. I have bands. We got bands, baby. This team and this company. That's all we need around here, man. Worst trend. You know people wearing the pants like super saggy?

1:01:14I like how it looks for doing the people. Like I think it stays, but I can't. Not for me. I can't stay. I tried in Chicago with like super saggy, but I couldn't kick with too. so I respect them for sure and I think it's cool but not for me

1:01:38Davis Torgerson:so it's not the worst trend but it is for you but that's okay we'll take it we'll take it alright we might get a little mean here let's see what you got man which skater has the worst style fuck I don't know worst style bro maybe Mason oh my god now you've gone too far man. I have. Mason. What do you hate about Mason's style? That's a hard question, bro. His hair? Maybe. He was growing his hair, but he shaved again. I like it, but you know. 1:04:22Davis Torgerson:this guy trying to be humble guy what's up i literally i literally don't remember um before we get started jt um i think you still owe me 50 bucks oh what the hell was it no i think i gave you 40 and i only owe you 10 or do i do it that's fair though if i do oh wow was it the nollie heel into the bank my very first real trip wow i didn't you know what's catching up i thought i paid you at least honestly i'm not i thought i paid you 40 and honestly i didn't know that you had it like that so i was like i'll just get him soaked he'll stick it and then you did it i was like i was trying my very first real trip we were at a spot and i was trying this trick for probably way too long long enough to where jt finally is like fuck it right here 50 bucks and the tm at the time darren howard was like i got 50 on it too and i did it and on the spot darren paid me 50 and here we are you know fucking 20 years later and jt's driving to mexico to avoid paying me you're trying to put it off on someone else now oh yeah i'm trying to put it off darren oh you know what if that's true then i thought i paid you 40 and i thought i owed you 10 and it bugged me but if i need a little 50 that sucks wow bro it's 2026 man venmo you know what time it is i really thought you were about to say all right jt like these are the rules for those who are watching for the first time and you just went fucking roasted he's been thinking about it we had to kind of i had to had to get this get this straight waited for us to press record too it's good to see you but diabolical the fuck man a long time but thinking about that money people never forget okay okay uh you literally were just talking about listening to one so i guess so you have an idea i'm gonna be listing off clues to a random skater you all get three guesses you can blurt them out at any time you can ask questions but it's just one skater.

1:06:35I feel like a lot of times people will come on and be like, cool, when's the next one? So this is your shot. This is your big, this is your shot, dude. I have faith, though. I do have faith. More faith than paying a homie back. I have faith. Oh, man. Okay. Are you guys ready? Let's do this. I didn't ask his level of skate nerd. That's an interesting thing we need to know from now on. I would put JT at like a 7.8? 7.9? 7.8. That's pretty high, right? That's very high. That's pretty high. I think I'm lower, but it depends on the years, right? With all this stuff. What are you at, Davis? I don't know.

1:07:26Probably like a 7.5. Okay. Okay. Okay. That's nice. Yeah. Yeah. Well, you're, you're, you're a little wiser when it comes to, uh, the age. Molder. So you might have a bit of knowledge on me there. Um, okay. Well, we'll see how I did in grading him because previous teammates of this skater include Brian Wenning Gino Iannucci and Ryan Sheckle

1:08:06okay so there's that this skater was born in Maryland

1:08:20JT you've been right? I have did you meet all the skaters i think we i think i think we went together we went on a trip there we did go together you know he healed you know he healed over the uh brooklyn rail that's like a day later i just couldn't stop knowing you're over rails when you were there you just set that set that up so i could reference and all you know i mean it wasn't exactly in maryland but it was the same trip. It was the same trip. We digress. Okay. This skater has had a crooked guest board. Dude, I tried to find the list of guest boards, but it's not available like that. JT, you ever have one?

1:09:05No.

1:09:08Damn, you're like the only one. Wow.

1:09:16Sorry to this skater, but this skater never graduated high school. Blowing him up.

1:09:28But this skater's dad is a West Point graduate. A military veteran. Okay. These are hard. Nothing's clicking yet. Nothing. This one's kind of interesting. Though this skater never skated for S shoes, they had a cover wearing S shoes.

1:10:01Davis Torgerson:That's a good clue. Safe as wheels are fucking turning right now. I have a name in my head, but it's too soon. Could be dead wrong. I'm going to lose.

1:10:18The hamster wheel is turning. This skater was in a music video skating in abandoned water park.

1:10:32Okay, so he's a transition skater. Probably.

1:10:39Davis Torgerson:I'm thinking water park. Who is the teammates again? Brian Wenning, Gino Iannucci, and Ryan Sheckler.

1:10:51Sheckler with the water park. That's the clue. Wow. Do you remember the music video? Well, I'm just assuming there's the connection. I don't know. I don't know.

1:11:09Let's go here. this skaters bike gang with their friends is called deuces wild a bicycle no wait hold on a bicycle gang it is a bicycle it's not chris cole oh that was nowhere near so hard too the bike the bike the area Yeah, but yeah, I don't know. I jumped the gun on that one. So I got two left. No, you're good. You got two left. I feel like, I feel like people don't guess enough. I can see the like wanting to save them until it's obvious, but by the time it's obvious, you may have lost. You lost. So, a bicycle game. Smoke them if you got them, you know.

1:12:01Davis Torgerson:I'm gonna smoke one on this next clue. Okay. In the recent EA Skate game, this skater voices the character Shingo. Oh, fuck. I have no idea. Oh, wow. I have no idea.

1:12:21This skater has had a Transworld part.

1:12:31I got nothing. Sean Malto? It's from fucking Kansas, dude Oh, yeah It is Sean What? Yeah He said, oh, yeah That's my dog Damn Damn, Donald, not the homie Hold on, I'll be right back

1:12:54Davis Torgerson:Because born in Maryland How was he not A Ravens fan Well, he was just born there He grew up in Kansas but his dad was going to get a multi-board some celebration because he ain't one in a month AJT the next we out here baby real that was like four clues away where this skater has a guest board for real I'm back that was a long four weeks people thank you to all my fans JT my next clue was going to be in this skater's checkout for Skateboarder Magazine the feature is written up by Ernie Torres. I don't think I would have even done it for me. No, Malta was not even close, dude. He's from Kansas, man.

1:13:42He's not from Kansas. This is bullshit.

1:13:46Davis Torgerson:Yeah, but that was obviously to throw man's off. Yeah, man. I was hoping I got one of the 90s guys, you know, like the mid 90s. I was like, OK, hopefully. You don't cater this to who you are. You would have been great last week. I've been fine. Oh, yeah. you probably would have would have handled hewitt a little better yeah oh my god that was so disrespect apologies again it took us 40 minutes and no one got it i don't i don't necessarily cater to a specific guest at all because i don't know who the guest is going to be until like 30 minutes before usually but i do get a few ready because i don't want to i don't want to give you like if the random skater was ernie torres i couldn't give it to you it would be too close to home.

1:14:35So when I get a few ready, I kind of assign them to a certain person and be like, I think this should be fair.

1:14:43Davis Torgerson:We're all football fans here. When you see this, do you think Chiefs or 49ers? The Niners because of the... It's kind of... Right? It should have been black and purple. Fuck the Niners. yeah the biggest low-key ravens fan sean malto that's insane donno i was about to say when you said ea skater i immediately they had like an ea skate party at primitive park and i was thinking of like all of the riders in those you know what my i was so convinced it was jeremy rogers oh that's a good so like the last couple because yeah plan b teammates and who was the other teammate it was like gino gino i was like oh are you counting like chocolate girl it like was all making sense i have no idea where this is kind of i had no i had the insider knowledge i was i think i was literally with malto and he's like i'm gonna do voiceovers for ea with with breezy girl that's not fair that's not fair run it back dude don't count what about when Cairo, you knew Cairo would switch jobs in his LinkedIn.

1:15:56Davis Torgerson:Don't blame me. Dude. That was a little bit of a drought for you. I wish I would have saved that clue for a little bit later. We could have been gone for a little bit longer. Dude. I was almost going to double or nothing my bet I owed you, so I'm glad I didn't do that. This whole Kansas City thing has been a fraud. JT, inflation, man. Come on. I owe you more than that. Travis Kelsey needs to rescind that wedding invite. But I thought, JT, I thought you would maybe have a chance because, I don't know, he was still similar time. Yeah, for sure. Well, dude, they would have just kept going if Safer didn't know he did the voiceovers.

1:16:34Yeah, the voiceovers. That was unlucky. Would any of you remember skated to a Bob Dylan cover? Maybe. No, I wouldn't. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. One Transworld skate and create twice. that's a weird one too both time with that knees got turned down to ride for zero wow i didn't know that i just remember the real story ernie has had two backside nosebleed covers yeah i know the story that would have been good too

1:17:07Davis Torgerson:damn i can only picture one of them stanford right stanford that was the cover that stanford cover was when he was skating s's which i actually gave those shoes to him um And then the other one was like a transition concrete up to a wall for the skateboard mag. And it was, I think he might've won it. Am of the year or something. I thought Jeremy Rogers probably slipped on some P rods excels at some point or something. I was so convinced. That's a good guess, Jeremy. Is that from Boston though? Yeah. Yeah. But I'm like, I knew where he was born was going to be like a frog up somewhere else, but they just happened to be born there.

1:17:43Yeah. You've done this to make sense. throw you off yeah yeah he's a savvy veteran what else what else i still wouldn't have known fuck i blew it then um this skater had an ad with the tank with the text the blank age

1:17:59Davis Torgerson:blank being the skater's name oh the malta age yeah i remember that uh maybe that would have done it um one rookie of the year 2010 at the translators awards has won a street league had a colorway that was dubbed the samurai which was a dunk and hard flipped the carlsbad he had a dunk like a colorway yeah that's dope the hard flip would have had it there for sure i think i would have been like josh casper for sure yo what's the hard flip clue what'd you say i mean he hard flipped carlsbad with a keg under him you guys remember that no did he did did josh casper do that with a keg there not casper hard flipped to carlsbad with a group of people partying on the gap like on the i think they were spraying like a keg of beer as he's hard all right i'm gonna have to remember that for when i do josh casper i knew that doing sean was gonna be tough because say especially is super close with him and i I thought I could get around it.

1:19:07Davis Torgerson:That was really a fluke that I happened to be in LA when he was doing that. But I'm not mad at it. I'm mad. I was heating up and now I'm back on a cold streak, dude. Yeah, you were doing good. Yeah, the guests are kind of the guests, dude. They're getting killed. They're getting killed. JT, man, our number one fan. I'm sorry. Sorry, it didn't go your way. I'm about that for sure. I usually get them in my car. Maybe the pressure guy. Once you step into the terror dome, dude, it's different. Yeah. You can win this one in your car now when it comes out. Hey, JT. JT, are you going to, are you going to the Toby thing tomorrow?

1:19:50I'm going to try if I could get back in time. Is that five, right? So yeah, it's five, five, five, five. Are you going? I am. Cool. Well, I'll probably see you there. Is he getting on board tomorrow? Yeah. Hell yeah. Crazy. Does he know? he probably has to have some inkling um yeah well deserved i think anytime someone gets a board now they have an idea they just don't know how it's gonna happen so yeah but yeah did you get surprised davis yeah i did i definitely did you know i definitely knew it was happening very soon and we were doing a trip in minnesota so i was like at some point on this trip started to be suspicious they're gonna do it but when it happened i i fully got surprised yeah it was really cool that's cool that's wicked did you jt no i didn't do that then because it was like there wasn't all that i don't know if this is why but it wasn't like instagram and all the stuff so it wasn't like i mean yeah that's probably a big reason why kind of like talked about and like yeah cool stoked yeah it was amazing but it was just a little different i definitely like i remember having conversations with i guess at the time it was nate alton who was tm and jim and they were like oh what do you want for boards like do you want davis or do you want like i remember them asking these questions so i knew that it was like kind of happening and i had was coming out with a video part so i was like okay it's happening but they definitely like a surprise what yeah but like yeah i mean but for social media they have to do a surprise right yeah yeah it makes it fun so epic i gotta get my hands on one of those vintage davis boards man yeah they were cool jt what was your oval my oval was that was that not your first board no mine was a cat like a cat with yeah like a like a pride looking cat with with some i guess it was kind of oval but it was it was more of a square no it wasn't oval i guess i just i just didn't look at it like that it was it was like checkered or like uh black and white and it was just like a picture of a cat with a eye patch on was that your cat at the time no i'm allergic to cats

1:22:11jim dude what are we doing here i think i asked for it i definitely asked for a while it was definitely like one of my ideas i think because i i feel real got into like a swing where everyone's first board is like their name in an oval essentially was yours just in an oval was it yeah it was like i thought yours was like a prince like a prince it was prince themed yeah it was like the font from purple rain in an oval there was a bunch like that right did maybe have too many prince boards and i should never know that was sick i liked them we ran to the ground do you want me to sign them up for 50 bucks i'll sign it 50 bucks okay that's a deal jesus christ trying to get my money did 50 bucks holy shit ruin the board it will completely ruin the board all right well thank you um you can you can continue on your drive you can stop leaning to the right now i guess okay that's more comfortable that's why i lost obviously to the left obviously yeah you've got mail welcome back to the post office our first episode in a few weeks so obviously lots of emails lots of bunt jam talk bunt video talk lots to get through ghost who we got up first

1:23:32Davis Torgerson:all right first up a little email from sam c nhl season quickly approaching leafs re-upped with the number one overall pick in Gavin McKenna. Povroski in net. Some upgrades on D. Are they back to the playoffs and a contender after a terrible season? Fresh off Bunt Jam 2026. It was top notch. Thank you guys. What an unreal night. The NHL is coming back, dude. Which means the NBA is coming back. Which means the rundown is going to be packed. But for me, this is a very simple question to answer. If Austin Matthews is back to scoring 40, 50, 60 goals, the Leafs will be a contender. If he scores 30, like he did last year, and gets hurt and isn't really playing, then we won't.

1:24:28All the upgrades are nice. We got the new shiny toy, McKenna. Obviously, the draft is rigged. We should not have gotten that, but they need to make Toronto a good team. We got a good goalie, a number one. And, yeah, some upgrades on D. But this all rides on Austin Matthews, man. There's one bus driver. Let's see what he can do, man.

1:24:51Davis Torgerson:What's up with McKenna, though? In five years, could he be a top five player? Could he be the captain of the team? Oh, yeah. The best player on the team? He's like an elite prospect. One of the best, you know. I mean, it's tough to say who to compare him to. But, like, I don't think he'll be as good as Celebrini. or Bedard maybe. We haven't seen him fully reach his potential, but this guy's a star for sure. He's going to sell a trillion jerseys in Toronto. He's going to be every kid's favorite player. Nice. It's perfect for the Leafs. Yeah, there's some controversy when we won the draft. I saw people were not having it.

1:25:26Davis Torgerson:Who got second that probably should have won? No, the Sharks got second. They probably shouldn't have won either. It should have been Vancouver. I think should have got first. They were last by a long shot. But now that they do this lottery, obviously anything can happen. And he's just go, like, I know how they do it. You don't want teams tanking and stuff. But, like, the team that's, like, by far the worst should get the best player, you know? Yeah, but sometimes when it's so blatant, like the Utah Jazz, I never want to see them rewarded with a high pick. Six last, right? And we had traded our first round pick from this year to Boston.

1:26:04but if it was bottom five we would get to keep it so i think boston thought they were going to get like a really good pick we end up getting the first pick which was lovely getting mckenna um yeah shocked everyone shocked leaf nation but yeah that's what we needed man

1:26:22Davis Torgerson:and is he clearly the best pick like there's no debate there was another guy ivan ivan stenberg who went to the Sharks. Yeah, I think they were like, maybe it was a clear one and two, but Stenberg's not a bad guy to get. If you're the Sharks picking second, you're hyped on getting that prospect. And what an easier route for that guy. He's like, I get to pick second, now I get to go play in California where nobody's going to know who I am. First place coming to the Leafs where your personal life is over. Nothing's secret anymore. so Ivan and Gavin let's see if that turns into a heated rivalry see what you did there dude yeah but it all rides on Matthews man like the best player got to be the best player some people thought he was the best player in the world a few years ago obviously injuries to his wrist and stuff slowed that down but they played a preseason game on Saturday and he looked fast so it's a good start but we lost both games to Montreal.

1:27:28Whatever. Preseason. Preseason. Alright, who we got up next, man? Next we got Jake C. What's up, Bunters? Whack for y 'all to be rushing David Reyes during his actual interview when you let Blondie ramble for 30 minutes during the rapid fire. Hate and love from Florida. Dude, if you only knew, man. That's the thing, man. If you only really knew, bro. Yeah.

1:27:56Davis Torgerson:I saw that that sentiment came up a lot. A, all that was supposed to be edited out. There's a lot of interactions between us and guests throughout an interview, but unfortunately that was left in. But regardless, we love David. He's been nothing but kind to us. And like I talk to him all the time still now after that interview. But what happened was we tried to, that was the third time we tried the interview. Yeah. And there's usually a certain pace we go to. And like with the first time we did it, I swear we were on the third question and we'd been talking for like an hour. Yeah. And we do them at night, weekday.

1:28:36Davis Torgerson:So we just had to remind. He knew. He knew. Like he would laugh about it, too. Oh, yeah. He even said it in the interview. Like he could just talk in a giant circle and come back. but it was like this will be five hours if we don't you know give them little gentle reminders but it's all love unfortunately people got butthurt by that but uh it is what it is david we love you dude navigating an interview is so tough because if we don't you know push the pace a tiny bit everyone's gonna be like you didn't ask this you didn't ask this you didn't It's like because we have to find a way to get there.

1:29:16You know, like we have so many questions. We want to get to the end to ask them all and make everyone happy. I mean, Corey Duffel is the shining example of this. We asked him one question and he answered them all in like a 30 minute answer. You know, like everyone is just a little bit different. And we had to push David a little bit, man. We want to get to the end. We want to get to the good stuff. But there's opposites, too. There's guys who can, you know, give you a 30-second answer for every question. And then you're like, fuck, how do we stretch this out, you know? So partially on us. But, like, you got to just be hyped that David Ray has pulled up, man.

1:29:55And we got to the end of the interview. Like, that's it.

1:29:59Davis Torgerson:And he came in clutch with some clips for the vid. I think that was the last interview before the Bunt Jam. Yep. Shouts David. Trey Flip lip. You get me. Watch him. All right. Next up, we got an email from Mike Papciak. That's pretty good. I'm trying to remember how David said this. We say Chicagoff, Chichagov, and pros who disappeared. How does this guy know that it's like... I don't know, man. Saifa and Donovan, second time post officer here. Oh, he's going to explain it. Chichagov is an Alaskan island. You guys asked about it in early September. Pronunciation. Pronunciation. Chichagoff. Chich rhymes with stitch.

1:30:48Davis Torgerson:You got this. Okay. Chichagoff. Chichagoff. Chichagoff. Chichagoff. Yeah. When is the last time you watched the 2004 Volcom full length by the same name? I'm saying low key one of the best team videos ever. Apples, Dolan, Marnell, Woosnitz, Stanton, Susky, Grant, Rune, Rowley, Penny, and prepubescent Shex, to name just a few. In my opinion, one of the few videos to throw street and transition footage together and have it come out sick. Soundtrack is fire, too. Speaking of Darrell, he's my favorite disappeared pro. Loved his pop and steez. Sadly, I've given up hope that he'll come back. If you guys could have any pro who vanished return to rip it up, who would you each pick?

1:31:40Davis Torgerson:Thanks for all you do. Frontside Mike. Dude, Darrell did not disappear. He's just living a good life down in Texas, man. We actually got to see him this past March. Legend Darrell pulled up. It's great to see him. Was Stanger ever pro? Because I think that's the obvious answer here. No. Okay. Canadian pro, we'll call him. But not actually pro. Travis Stenger would be my answer for this and every question of who I'd like to bring back to skating. But outside of him, maybe to go the same route as Darrell, Scott Kane. Would have liked to see more Scott Kane. I think that's all I got. Yeah, damn, I was going to say Kane as well.

1:32:27Davis Torgerson:But I'll go with Nick Trapasso and Brian Wenning. You know, various things cut their careers a little shorter than we would have liked to see. Especially in this era where people be shredding at fucking 50 these days. But I think Nick's knees kind of gave out on him. But Wenning's shredding again, which I'm seeing on Instagram, which I'm loving to see. Keep the sober streak alive. B Wen, legend. There's too many a name though but and i don't know the last time i watched that video i fucking loved that video too our friend ben davis had it the dvd so anytime we're at his crib we're watching that on sleepovers for sure what's up yeah definitely shout out brian winning all right next up we've got an email from colby hansen what's up boys i know that the plywood roll up and roll away is illegal but sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures what are your favorite trick or tricks that have been done with either a plywood roll up plywood roll away or both this season has been a barn burner keep the heaters coming i mean easy answer like today it's mitch's feeble man 20 something did they build that i don't know i never asked him about that i don't know either it could have just been like the deck that's there that's possible um but that was a huge deck if mitch built that like that'd be i wouldn't put it past him yeah we should fact check that though because i have no idea but when you see the other one there's no roll away there's like two rails it's like almost like a chalet or something yeah the other one doesn't have the wood but i i don't think he told me i don't think they built that one i think he built run up for that maybe a run up yeah i I don't know, but that was a heavy clip, man.

1:34:25That thing was insane, dude. The clip when he slams on it and gets whipped around the rail is also fucked. Yeah. But another one that comes to mind, a prominent rail in the Vancouver skate scene back in the day. I think it was a perfect rail that had no landing and just went into grass. Remember that one? Hasty would always skate it. But fuck, what's his name? The short homie from Van. Chad's good homie. Dustin. Dustin Monty. Front shove back lip. Legend. Into the plywood. That's.

1:35:00Davis Torgerson:This came to mind. Damn. We're on the same wavelength these days. But right now. Oh, that one. That's a different one. I thought we were talking about the same rail. I'm like, damn, you got Scott Kane and now my rail. If you beat me to this, I was going to be bummed because I read this email the other day. My favorite roll away. Galea Mamalu. Switch heel front board. This green rail. I think it's in Vancouver. uh just pierced these uh ants roll the clip and then obviously morgan smith front board ibm is that 20 no i think ibm's is 16 maybe okay but yeah he built like a roll away as well right they built a huge roll away like all the way to the curb i think yeah another one i loved i don't know if we if we can even find footage of this there is a crazy hubba i never went to it in scarborough that our crew built a fucking just plywood run up to this like how about down like was it just grass yeah it was plywood beginning and end yeah maybe it was just beginning actually everyone just no slid it it was perfect dude yeah uh yeah that was awesome ben davis had the most notable nose slide.

1:36:21I think he was like sunburned to shit that day and had to wrap a towel around his neck for protection.

1:36:28Davis Torgerson:That was a really good one. The whole crew nose slid it, but only one person could use it. Was it Ben that used it? Yeah, but I think Cody probably did big spin the hard way. I mean, I did big spin the soft way, but there was nothing else you could do. Did Aiden do something good? I don't think he did. I don't know if he was there that day. Because that day we went to Oakville Park. And then I smashed my chin and we had to go to the hospital. And then from Oakville Hospital, we go-trained to Scarborough. Had to find wood to make this thing scalable. It was pretty. Well, the shit we did back then, man.

1:37:04Davis Torgerson:Epic. Okay. But Ben's nose slide is in. Huh. So that's easy to find. So we can find it. Yeah. Yeah. All right. next up we got a voice note from chad b let's take a listen

1:37:24what up long time first time love the pod appreciate you boys calling to ask if you've ever thought of doing a fantasy football pre-draft special or something of the sort uh this is like my third year running where it looks like i'm gonna be absolute dog shit I know week one just ended. I'm probably overreacting. But Joe Burrow might be going on the trading block tomorrow. I need help. What's up? Okay. Dude, it is really hard to decide when to hit the panic button. You know? Not after week one. But after week two?

1:38:08Davis Torgerson:I would wait ideally four weeks. But sometimes it's obvious. but like three weeks very obvious but two weeks is not enough and he's panicking after one like that's too soon give joe time dude give joe time he just played the texas defense that's one of that was week two he's speaking after week one who did they play week one they played that was just a weird game they put up 30 points they they kept turning over the buccaneers and like getting it in short fields and some rushing touchdowns and a defensive touchdown like just just chill man is joey b is joey crack week four is definitely the time i think that's in our button league that's when i hit the panic button week four and traded gibbs for cook yeah you gotta just just be patient especially the process is simple dude you'd go oh and four you trade your best player for two guys that's what you got to do man you got to create some depth uh adam revigla is about to hit the panic button real hard he's stressing joel's loving every minute of that that's who you gotta holler at is the people that are panicking after week one or two go try and get their stars yeah yeah um pre-draft special i feel like we've done that kind of over the weeks leading up but yeah maybe we could have like some actual fantasy special we used to do that could bring in some experts yeah outside of us who would be your top three fantasy players in football that we play against?

1:39:45First one's easy. Russ Milligan. Russ Milley is number one.

1:39:48Davis Torgerson:The most annoying. He's back in first place by a mile with points for. You know what? I gotta give it to Ants one. He always has a good team. Always. And he'll find a way to scratch and claw if he doesn't. Outside of that, Like the league with the fucking American homies. Yeah, pick a guy out of that league. They're all trash. Well, Davis is good. Davis is good. But that league is just a shit, a crapshoot of like flukes. You got man's like Jesse Alba and Mason winning the league. You know, it's a disgrace. Yeah, I guess that's it. Ants. oh i mean regulator no friend aaron

1:40:41Davis Torgerson:uh yeah although the two that i know are always gonna have a good team no matter what ants but ants wants to he's crazy man remember the the argument in melbourne that he would pick a if you had to start a franchise he would pick a coach before a player like back then he was saying that he would take Andy Reid over Patrick Mahomes. Like, that was the argument. No, I think he started with Mike Tomlin. He would, to start a franchise, Tomlin's more important than Mahomes. It's crazy. He'll die on that hill. And Mahomes is back, bro. I know. And we'll get to that. But, oh, my God. I'm so hyped. I'm loving it.

1:41:20Happy to be wrong on that. Yeah. All right. Keep it moving. Keep it. We got a couple more here. Next up, Drew Pickles. What up from Austin, Texas? first time caller long time listener y 'all should come down and do something with us at our skate shop called no comply we have an amazing skate scene anyway i woke up in the middle of the night and thought you guys should add asking what people's favorite trick ever done is to rapid fire mine is the street loop done in sour solution 2 by simon isaacson what's your favorite trick ever done?

1:41:56Davis Torgerson:That's an insane question.

1:42:01Davis Torgerson:There's no... I can't answer this, man, especially off the top right now. You got too many files to go through, dude. The Rolodex for Safe is too deep. Mine's just like a picture book. Right now, because I've been listening to this song way too much, Eric Costin's Yeah Right song, I'll go with his no slide down the curve rail. actually not my favorite trick ever done, but it's just in my head right now. So that's what you get. Yeah. Let me just hit you with Scott Cain's which your friend knows why not. And Jesse Alba's board slide the ledge to up the pole jam. Iconic. Submitted for multiple videos.

1:42:44That he tried to use in both videos. Fucking scrub. All right.

1:42:49Davis Torgerson:Let's keep it moving. All right. Next up, we got an email from Jeremiah Bueno. I thought they were going to use it. Quetranza, homies. I've been listening to the show for years and have to say it's fantastic. The Leo Romero episode, the Louis Barletta episode, the Safransky episode, the Ernie Torres episode. All rad as hell. Perhaps this query has already been posed, but I'll ask anyways. Which interview has left you feeling the most accomplished and which has felt the most surreal? Post script. Let's go, Giants. Harbaugh has this O-line going strong. It's just one week, but it's been immensely different from years past.

1:43:34Davis Torgerson:Big blue forever. Let's go. Hashtag fuck Dallas. It's crazy. I'm with you. The hope that an NFL win can give a franchise. Just one. Just one, bro. that's awesome oh man i have jackson dart and said it's been immensely different from past years they won one game one game i got malik neighbors and isaiah like and dart like we out you fucking go blue or go what is it big blue forever yeah okay um the new york football giants man there's something else let's try and pick a random one that we don't do haven't said uh too often So for me, I'll say Brandon Turner came clutch at the end of one season back in the day.

1:44:23I'll never forget it. I think he was driving from somewhere to somewhere else, San Diego to somewhere, something like that. But he was in the car for the whole interview. Just made the time for us when we really needed a big interview to end a season. And after that, it's always not like relief that we feel at the end of seasons. But like sometimes it can be like hard to find 12 interviews, make them like, you know, the last one be a clear ender. So that was just like a really good feeling when we finished that one off. I remember we sat down feeling like really good about being able to present that to the people.

1:45:02And I think it came out like two days later. Yeah, that was huge.

1:45:10Davis Torgerson:I would say one of the ones that made me feel accomplished was or sorry most surreal let's go Shane O 'Neill that was awesome I feel like he doesn't do too many interviews so that was definitely an honor and it was also awesome because he was roasting he was firing back you know what I'm saying we'd throw a little chirp in there and he'd clap right back so that was a really fun one um and then what did i say most accomplished for that or most surreal i don't know they're both similar but i think i always say this one but one of the first ones where i geeked out was early days uh rick mccrank yeah that one always that made us when he popped up on the screen it was i was like holy fuck we're about to yeah rick mccarnie another i mean there's man yeah it's a long list winning was fucking epic obviously jake phelps was probably the craziest one because it was so early that was at your mom's place back in the day like he was on a phone i always think to like where we did the interview to like think about like how long ago it was and the ones back at your house back in the day where those were old ones, man.

1:46:34Or the ones on Gulf Street. Gilbert Crockett was wicked. He doesn't do this stuff often either, and he gave us a really good interview a long time ago. We got to revisit some of the OG homies. I know. That would be really cool. That was a good post office. Man, we obviously have a lot more to get through, but we're over our time limit. Make sure to get your emails, voice notes, and whatever the hell else you got. Donald, hurry up. Hurry up. I'm going, man. I'm going. Hurry up. All right. We'll see you next week. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

1:47:14Welcome back to The Rundown, the skateboard world source for sports. The NFL is back. Sundays are over for the next 18 to 20 some odd weeks, man. It's just a wrap for Sundays. The Bunt and NFL Canada are proud to announce we're giving away two tickets to an NFL game of your choice.

1:47:37Davis Torgerson:All you got to do is post your best individual clip in a football jersey. All right. Tag NFL Canada. Tag the Bunt and hashtag Bunt NFL 2026. All right. So we can get them all in one place and see who's shredding the hardest in these jerseys. it's just that easy one clip one hashtag two tags and me and you if you want could be going to high mark stadium to watch the buffalo bills or we could go watch aaron rogers get sacked in pittsburgh or you can just go with someone of your choice but we really want to give away two tickets to a bunt listener this is the best way to do it tag the bunt live tag nfl canada hashtag bunt nfl Well, 2026, it's football season.

1:48:28What's better? Hey, nothing. Let's go. Husbands and boyfriends and just men and women everywhere glued to their phones, watching their matchups, overreacting to things in the first two weeks. So the first question is, what is the biggest overreaction people are making after the first two weeks? Just one. Just one.

1:48:55Davis Torgerson:damn that's a it's a hard question man yeah it's hard hitting to start i don't think it's an overreaction fuck uh i don't know you got one um i would just say the worries over london and bijon in atlanta i think you know we were always worried about the quarterback play there michael Penix Jr. has not played yet. We're waiting on him. I think they'll be okay, those two guys. Agreed. Another overreaction, but Caleb Williams is now hurt, but the whole offseason, it was Colston Loveland, Romo Dunze, Luther Burden. They're about to light up fantasy. They scored 59 points and those guys combined for nothing whatsoever.

1:49:47Davis Torgerson:And then this week, game in the rain, Minnesota, tough defense, and then Caleb gets hurt. So unfortunately, it's still going to suck. But I think at some point this season, it all makes sense. But I wouldn't overreact to that. But the Caleb injury does put a damper on it. I'll tell you one thing. I'm done with Loveland, man. I am overreacting. The tilt is over. The tilt is overboard is what we call it. That's all for us. I'm so glad you picked him one pick before me now. That's the thing, man. Like, someone could have just saved me from this tight end misery. Yo, I was, like, about to say something to try and throw you off in the draft.

1:50:27Davis Torgerson:There's nothing better than, like, having an elite tight end. And when you think you nailed one, especially one with the upside of Colston Loveland, and then you get three yards for two weeks. You know what? You want to hear what I did, though? It's just as bad as what you did. but Ant started a league that me and Ravigzoran. And I was so in on Loveland because I don't know if you remember last year, I drafted him in every league with one of my last picks. And I remember you asked me about him. I'm like, oh, I just think I just heard he's going to be a beast. And then he finished the year. Yeah, but he sucked all year.

1:51:03Davis Torgerson:All year, I dropped him in every league. And then the last four or five weeks, he went nuclear. And then this year, he was pushed way up the draft board. I'm like, damn, I can't even draft my guy anymore because he's just going too early. And so I didn't get him in any league. Last draft was Ants' league. And then he was just sitting there, I think, in round four or five. It's the 10-team league. And Trey McBride was still there. And I was like, nah, I'm getting my guy. And I drafted him one pick before Revig's got Trey McBride right after me. Oh, okay. Oh, man. That's insane. Yeah, so. Over. And you know who's killing it is the guy you had last year you were high on, Kincaid.

1:51:42Now he's doing good, man.

1:51:43Davis Torgerson:yeah i know i'm predicting new oc over there finally like he should have been a beast this whole time but oh yeah oh yeah anyways um yeah i'm sure it'll come up later but there's an overreaction happening that is probably a rightful reaction that i definitely want to talk about i was dead wrong the most embarrassing thing i claimed okay we'll get to it we'll get to it um yeah like i said obviously huge everyone knows huge fantasy players and uh going into the drafts you think like the first round is locked in. This is how it should go. Looking back now, two weeks in, what is the one change you would make to how you went about the first round of the draft?

1:52:27Someone you would move up, someone you would move down, but like the most drastic of the top 12 players. Okay. Like personally on my teams or just overall? Just in general. Okay, because on my teams, I'm pretty happy with who I got. A piece of information you wish you would have. I think me and you were the same. We were like, we're not coming out of the first round without a running back because you don't want to be in that hole.

1:52:47Davis Torgerson:I don't regret any of that. I went RB in every draft. But one thing that I think a lot of people would probably change now is their JSN ranking. It doesn't matter if it's Drew Locke or Sam Darnold. He's looking like wide receiver one right now, and it's scary. like it what he did yesterday with his backup qb was just he shit he shit on bro his jukes like he's so next level i don't even i got no words for it man he's the yards after catch is crazy i think he goes after gibbs man knowing what we know now about how bad atlanta's offense is like he might just go gibbs jsn man and we played non-pr which is crazy and we're still leapfrog chase and nakua um yeah looking back there was one spot was it one spot where i took cmc and i'm like i should have i would have preferred jsn but then you never know what you get with running backs on the way around so yeah i think that's clear jsn is the one guy like shooting up the rankings and then saquon barkley man it's been a tough start tough start very ugly in our league in our one league malto usually if there's a chief just anywhere in the vicinity malto always drafts them and i was shocked he took barkley one pick before kenneth walker and i know he's kicking himself right that's another got kenneth right after him he might be the other guy like who do you take before kenneth walker after two weeks oh after two weeks gibbs and jsn yeah like i don't know like jonathan taylor maybe yeah um yeah kenneth walker if he if he plays 15 games if he misses let's give him two games off like and he continues with this workload i did hate to see him get stuffed at the one yard line three times in a row last night but yeah he's this is he's got to have the most usage of any back right now that's fucking insane and he's looking incredible while doing it like uh it was shades of kareem hunt first game with the chiefs i mean in the nfl like just the feeling of having that running back is great moving along um obviously you want to be two and oh some good teams are oh and two who is the best oh and two team that you think can get out of this little mini hole let me look at the standings real quick the team there's one team that it hasn't come up in the right way yet that i am you probably know i'm talking about i can't believe i i fell for their bullshit it's the chargers yeah of course okay the rams haven't played yet the best oh and two team you're saying yeah the best oh and two team is the texans 100 oh yeah no nico collins they've they played the bills and the bangles to start that's tough and the bangles defense is looking real so i'd say the texans uh by a long shot okay i'd say yeah the texans is a great answer obviously chargers everyone expects more from the chargers but i'd like to maybe not better than the texans but the colts are better than oh and two as well and the buccaneers the buccaneers have played poorly though I don't know.

1:56:16The Bucs look pretty badass. But, yeah. So stay in the same division, I'd say. You go Texans and Colts. The Colts looked great against KC last night. But KC is back in a big way. I love it. It's insane when that big red machine is rolling. Okay. And on the flip side, who is the worst 2-0 team? I think this answer is easy.

1:56:40Davis Torgerson:Oh, I mean, the Raiders all day, every day. How did they do this, dude? How did they do it? They don't even have their best player. Also, the Vikings. I think the Vikings are good. I think they're good. Their quarterback is just the only thing. Justin Jefferson, I love him. He's one of my favorite players in the league. I was so happy to see him win and have a big game last week. He started good. I don't know how sustainable. Obviously, they need Kyler back. Their coaching staff, they don't need elite quarterback play. Mm-hmm. But imagine they had it. I can't even imagine, dude, because they haven't had it in forever.

1:57:24Yeah. So, like, we've been alluding to it the whole time. The Chiefs are back in a big way. The Chargers are still not that good. Which one is more surprising?

1:57:36Davis Torgerson:Bro, when we did the divisions breakdown, I think I had Chargers, Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders. The disrespect. The whole thing is upside down right now. No one predicted this Raiders. I think the Raiders will even back out. Bro, it's Chiefs, Raiders, Broncos, Chargers right now. It's almost the exact opposite of what I said. And the Chargers' upcoming schedule is insane. It doesn't get good for them. People are saying they might not win until Thanksgiving.

1:58:09Davis Torgerson:So I can't believe. Bro, they're literally. everyone's made this comparison they're literally the clippers of the nfl and vice versa good i've never heard that really the the second la team that no one really fucks with like to the same degree no i wouldn't compare the ramps to the lakers because both la football teams are kind of random but yeah came from other places but um yeah bro it's a disgrace i don't know what to say hampton our guy he's a good he's a beast but i'm just a little worried about the fumbles back back weeks and this one was a game losing fumble like that was fucking terrible and justin herbert just does not look like him i don't know i don't know where we go for that dude and i warned you about this that one word that four letter word hope that's always given in in uh training camp but i had a feeling about the chiefs man there was a lot of worry about them but i'm like dude they get the enemy back canine is a huge fucking deal you have worthy and rice together we can get a little bit more out of kelsey which i think we're getting like last year bro he went crazy yesterday what does i mean like last year he was still okay but like in comparison to last year like he was great that's what i mean by a little more okay the difference between last year and this year and like there's just a great team the great coaching spagnola reed you name it uh it just looks like the world is healing when when mahomes is back to his magic man bro it felt so good to see his deep passes completed it actually feels like a lifetime ago that anytime he would just launch a bomb you just expected it to be caught in the tyreek era uh and even that first super bowl after tyreek left like they still make an explosive plays but but these last i think three years it's just been he's been one of the worst deep passing quarterbacks in the league and it's just been this nasty like smash mouth football that's not fun to watch yeah and it was so uh when he hit taekwon thornton a couple times and shit i was so juiced last night man yeah so great to have the chiefs back which means we're gonna get an epic bills chiefs game which is what the people love to see hopefully another playoff matchup oh man it's great the bills opened up their new stadium high mark stadium josh allen you know he was gonna be selfish and steal the first touchdown no matter what uh maybe the biggest td vulture to james cook you know he's a little selfish at times and all the time um but right now his statistics through the first two weeks are insane.

2:00:57Is there anybody that will battle him for MVP this season? My pick was Dak.

2:01:04Davis Torgerson:My pick was Dak. I mean, right now it's his. But, I mean, we're two weeks in. After week one, I was like, Lamar is going to be back in the mix. Yes, could be. Terrible loss to the Saints. Another fourth quarter collapse. Damn, for MVP? I don't know. I feel like you know what I think the Bengals are gonna are they're just warming up and they usually they usually start oh and two or something yeah and then they start cooking later and make it hard on themselves right now the offense isn't looking super pretty but they're two and oh and they're the type of team that gets better as the season goes so dude what a statement for them beating the Texans you know the Bills did it the Bills barely did it here's the thing Josh Allen throws that pick in the fourth quarter where the guy should have caught it yeah he's this whole narrative is different he's actually drake may and not josh allen but instead they drop it two seconds later or two plays touchdown game changing so earlier on that drive they fumbled it recovered it yep should have thrown the pick and then still cj stroud was right there you know he could have thrown the pass to win the bills got lucky that was a great game that was a great game That's all you want out of a game.

2:02:24But what was I going to say? Here's the question. You get to pick one of these three quarterbacks to start your franchise. All three of them are thought of in the same tier. Drake May, Justin Herbert, Trevor Lawrence.

2:02:42Davis Torgerson:That's a good week to ask that question. Trevor Lawrence just took a shit L. They look discombobulated. Threw a bad pick to Parker Washington or that was intended for Parker Washington at the end. Drake May has been terrible for like seven games in a row now maybe. I can't remember. All through the playoffs. Maybe end of the regular season. All through the playoffs. And then two games this year. Herbert. Who's the other one? Herbert. Yo. I don't know if he's a good quarterback. like when did we see him be a great quarterback his i swear just his rookie season was like elite he's in year seven now remember they punctured fucking homie's lung he came in and tyrod taylor yeah yeah i for me it's t-law i think he's the best quarterback that's what i would say too which is kind of Drake may has had good moments, but I think they had great coaching and a great team and an easy schedule and won a lot of close games.

2:03:50Herbert, I don't believe is a good quarterback because I can only believe what I see. I can't listen to this nonsense any longer. And T law. I still feel like there's another gear, man, but it's the same.

2:04:04Davis Torgerson:We saw that gear at the end of last season. Yeah. Trevor Lawrence was on one end. Let's not forget Trevor Lawrence came back from down like 24-0 or something. Against the Chargers. In the playoffs.

2:04:19Davis Torgerson:Yeah, I'd say Trevor Lawrence, Drake May, Justin Herbert, maybe. And last but not least, who's the first coach getting fired this season? Let me look at these 0-2 teams. Outside of the Browns. Don't fire the Browns guy. They're 1-1, man. He's going through hell over there, dude. Deshaun's showing flashes. No, that's because it took like a one-hour lightning delay. Yo, the Buccaneers weren't going to sign Baker until later, and then they just signed him right before the season, and this guy looks so bad instantly. Oh, man. And all that talk about he was just beating his chest about how epic he was going to be and chip on his shoulder and shit.

2:05:06Davis Torgerson:And then they took the chip off by giving them a huge deal. And he's like, I'm good. First coach to get fired. Damn, maybe Robert Salah, year one. Is that possible? And the Titans, they've been in some close games, man. They almost beat the Eagles yesterday. But they got ahead of themselves. That's all that happened there. For me, dude. Bro. And I know they're a good team. They've had a lot of success under them. but it might be Mike Vrabel with all his nonsense he got going on, dude. If he can't get a little bit better quarterback play out of Drake May, it might be Vrabel's time. Oh, just because of all the off-field shit too?

2:05:52Dude, like they're a team that went to the Super Bowl last year, and then it's just clouded by all this nonsense.

2:06:01Davis Torgerson:Yeah, crazy. I mean, they beat my Steelers, but shouts to them. Aaron Rodgers almost lost his life out there. That was crazy. That was the funniest play I've seen in a long time. But I'm not. What is this? Like year five of me hoping for the Steelers to get like three, four or five wins. And they keep fucking winning. One and one right now. I think this is the worst team they've had though. This is bad. Brutal. Who did they beat week one?

2:06:31Davis Torgerson:They beat one of the worst teams in the league. Who was it? It was like they barely beat a shit team. I'm trying to remember. Oh, was it the Dolphins? Oh. No. It might have been actually. Let me look it up.

2:06:53Davis Torgerson:The Falcons. The Falcons with Cooper Rush. Yeah. It was 13 to 20. And they had a defensive touchdown to like, yeah, they were struggling way too hard. Dude, the poor commanders, man. and Jaden Daniels. That was awful to see. I mean, I was really bummed about Caleb Williams, but thankfully, I don't think it's as bad as it could have been. But Jaden Daniels, dude, that's just the last thing you want to see. Yeah, that was brutal. Some shitty injuries this week already. Any last words?

2:07:31Davis Torgerson:Steelers, let's go. Let's tank it up. Let's get Arch Manning. You know what I'm saying? Let's have some fun. You don't need that hope, dude. I'm sick of purgatory. But in the meantime, CD, my son, it's great to see you fucking thriving again. Let's fucking go, baby. Yeah. That was harsh because I had Dak in one league against you and CD in the other. I wasn't even watching at that point, dude. Turn that shit on. Oh, shit. All right, y 'all. Y 'all know where to find us next week. We are back for the next six weeks. We took that break. We had to.
