In short

Solomon “Sully” Cardenas Jr. talks about his skate journey (Naples, FL to LA to New York), getting back on Weekend after the end of Alva/Alzheimer’s, and shares multiple extreme personal stories—especially injuries involving his groin/testicles—plus memorable skate moments and off-skate life.

Guest backgrounds

Sully is a professional skateboarder from Naples, Florida. He grew up skating after starting with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and rollerblading. He worked as a cabana boy on Florida’s beach circuit, then moved to Los Angeles for years, riding for brands including Weekend and previously DC and Alva/Alzheimer’s. He’s now back on Weekend.

Key claims

His “big break” was getting paid via a Hub contract around late 2016/early 2017. He says Alzheimer’s ended abruptly when team owners called everyone on trips (including him while street skating in Montreal). He credits his return to Weekend to long friendships with Trevor and Grant and the crew’s “skits” and creative energy. He describes two medical emergencies: a credit-card injury requiring staples, and a rare testicular injury where his right testicle was “in two pieces,” requiring emergency surgery.

Notable examples

Tampa Pro practice-day near a 10-stair where Fabrizio Santos tackled him to safety; a prank on Ryan Sheckler/“Ryan Allen” where he pulled down Ryan’s pants mid-filming; painting himself blue for years; and the Berlin/Nazi-era stadium story tied to Jesse Owens’ Olympic podium moment.

3:46Davis Torgerson:You know what time it is, y 'all. You know what I'm saying? Shout out of the week and Skateboarding has always been shaped by the videos that represent it. It's how a lot of us connect to skating in the first place Lately videos are treated as disposable content Algorithms decide what gets seen and full lengths are reduced to a couple of clips in a feed That's not how skate videos are meant to be experienced That's why the den was built the den is a skate video app curated and designed by skaters It has a deep catalog of videos preserved in their original quality, pure vision, pure sound exactly the way filmers intended them to be seen.

4:26Davis Torgerson:From the classics to the latest releases and a 24 hour live channel for when you just want to kick back and zone out. The Den was made so when something special comes along, it stays front and center long after the feeds moved on. So if you care about skate videos like we do, become a member and download The Den for free on iphone android the web apple tv and amazon fire tv well i appreciate that uh gear but this i'm gonna do something that i don't know that i've done in the past i actually have not watched these two videos yet but i already know just whoa whoa i don't know if we can trust this bro when i drop these names on you you're gonna you're gonna be oh dude brother it's uh it's all good we're going with oh shout out this is not the official one dc just dropped the video our boy will marshall doing his thing in marseille france you know i'm saying always love for bill one of my favorite skaters of all time so go check that out i'm gonna check it out today too and official shout out of the week sour solution 3.3 uh i guess it's 11 minutes not quite a full length but uh it's featuring a bunch of my favorite european skaters i'm about to watch that too but you know i'm saying we got mans like albert nyberg bunt alum uh alex i'm gonna butcher all these names alex elfeving barney page frite solderstrom gustav tonison arguably the most talented skateboarder on the planet uh yep legend joseph scott jata who we met in bars another one of my favorites martin sandberg massimo christoph foletti another one of my favorites Nise, Inger Marson, Oscar, Savstrom, Simon Hallberg, and young goat Vincent Uta.

It was like an early, I think in Olympic games in the 60s when there's still segregation, maybe in the late 50s. Some track and field dudes like these black guys won it. And then they weren't sure about like letting them on the podium or whatever.

8:32And then when they got on the podium, they like held their fists up. There's like some iconic photos of that. That was sick.

8:38Davis Torgerson:Epic. Big things. Yeah. Yeah. They're just sort of like, fuck y 'all. I actually went to that stadium last year. Oh, where is it? It's in Berlin. It's like a Hitler stadium, basically. Oh, it was in Nazi-occupied Berlin, right? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Crazy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's the most badass shit ever. Stadium still rocking. Went to see a Colts game over there. It was pretty sick. Whoa. I think it was Jesse Owens who shattered all the track and field shit. Won all the races. and Hitler thought like the German fucking super super Germans were going to dominate everything so it was it yeah he's like oh this is perfect that the Aryans will just fucking clean it up psych yeah wow so sick so sick but then yeah skate moment when I was in like sixth grade I think it was 2006 I went to uh Tampa Pro it was like practice day and we were like oh let's go street skate and my mom took me and my friends to like downtown tampa to like look at nine stairs basically and uh we went to like tampa 10 it's like this classic 10 stair i don't know a bunch of people have done shit i think will marshall actually like fakie frontside when he was like 12 but i tried to ollie it and for some reason fabrizio santos was there like skating with some other younger no way and he i was i was like it was the biggest i don't think i'd ever all eight of 10 at that point and i was pushing at it like i was like short like little ass kid just like pushing at the 10 and fabrizio football style tackles me off my board to the ground what are you doing dude and like there's cars coming bro you're gonna just go into the street and i was like i was just like tripping because i was watching him like at the contest and then he was just like looking down me with his dreads like raining around my head i was just like what like what the fuck is happening but i remember just being like whoa like the pro skater just saved my life and it's like fabrizio santos like what it's pretty cool so sick wow that's so the breeze the breeze the crook to backlit breeze dude that's epic my og favorite skater dude same from like that day on honestly until i like like watched another video how can puppy after that dude right my mom was hyped on him too she was like that guy is

11:10Davis Torgerson:wow love love a fabrizio story so take us back to the beginning man where'd you grow up and how'd you get into skating uh i grew up in naples florida it's like a small beach town on the gulf of mexico honestly i think i got into skating just through like tony hawk's pro skater like i rollerbladed as like a jit like when i was like five to like ten and i didn't do anything for like a year but i still wanted to go to the skate park but i i knew rollerblading was like not it oh yeah i met this older kid down the street he had like a real board with like reds i remember him like spinning his wheels just like oh look how fast these wheels go and i was just like dude i need that that is so impressive yeah like they just go forever and then like i bought a board and we would like time it and see how long each of ours went for i was like dude we're getting good as fuck already it's crazy so what would you consider your first big break in the skate industry getting like a contract with hub was like a big break because it was like the first time i'd ever gotten any type of pay for skating uh yeah that was like either super late 2016 or super early 2017 okay damn yeah so how close was that to the shoe program ending uh kind of close i think like a couple years or like a year maybe we like put out a video we went on some trips and then my timeline is a little messed up i can't remember if the shoes stopped being produced in 2018 or 2019 it's like they used to make epic tour vids no we've done we've done some cool tour vids with them since i've been on but yeah those old ones with like dylan and Austin shit.

12:49Peter. Dude, Peter. Fucking Joey Pepper. Where in the world is Peter Ramadetta, man? This guy just left. I don't know. I was like, fuck, I missed the Peter Ramadetta era. I never met him. Never met him. He's like, everybody that knows him and is friends with him is like, oh, he's the fucking best. Sickest skater. Best dude on a trip.

13:14Davis Torgerson:Like you said, grew up in Naples. And you worked as a cabana boy. Epic job. Any stories from the cabana boy days for you? I mean, that job was sick. You would just sit in the sand on these beach chairs. And when people would come down this boardwalk, they would immediately ask you for certain beach furniture. The goal is to basically have it all set up how they want it, where they want it, by the time they get there walking on the sand. And it's like the richest people in the world. so they would just you know hand you like 20 bills every time so it's like a 15 16 year old like freshman sophomore in high school i was i love it like i would make like 5 000 bucks in a season and just you know just blow it on whatever i don't even know definitely not anything put it into like a high yield savings account or some shit that's epic any celebs we would know from the beach no it's like old people like bank like if like i don't know i remember this dude would talk to me and he's like i'm a ceo of like one of the biggest banks in the world and i just i was like 16 and i didn't give a fuck about that and i was like

14:33that's i was like i don't know pretty over it at that point like just like rich beach people and stuff like that yeah you know like pass the tip and let's keep it moving yeah i was all like angsty like yo i just money i'm out and like i guess a funny story from that would be i don't know like you'd see wind coming you'd see like umbrellas start flipping and flying and it's like elderly people and just families like screaming and like tear because these umbrellas are flying everywhere they're like just trying to just grab their shit and run and we would always just be like sitting back just laughing we thought it was the funniest thing even though like people some people probably were getting like hurt sometimes which is not cool but just as a kid i was like this is chaos this is sick um your mom has a very floridian job as well what does she do she's a emergency room nurse oh what that's not that flirt i don't know is that flirting maybe i got some bad info that can't be what it was i thought it was something to do with alligators or something oh i mean maybe like friends might think that she like works with alligators but she's just like a swamp lover and she's like a kind of like a nature like conservation kind of person oh sick she goes out into like the everglades just she has like all these little secret spots and she'll walk super far out like off trail waist deep in water and just be in the swamp like read books take photos just check that's crazy like in the everglades yeah like deep in the everglades and like the fakahatchee strand it's like a really popular place she likes to go that's really sick it's like a i wonder who said that's right she's crazy she does she'll like be so close to an alligator and just it's like no big deal she just will like brush them off or tell them to like shoo and they'll like listen so what that's terrifying that's twisted dude it's crazy if you guys ever come down i'll take you out yeah hell yeah i see those guys growing up skating in florida uh like most do you eventually made the move to la what was that transition like what was behind the move and do you have any stories from your early days in los angeles uh what made the move i guess i was going to florida state university and i was skating a bunch and like it was all good and i love i liked it but i think i went through like a really bad breakup and then I was just partying like really hard and I felt like I was not really doing anything important like going to school yeah I started getting hooked up by like a couple like I was like flow for weekend and then I was flow for Nike through like scuba I was just so depressed over the breakup and I was like I need to change something and like I sold my car got a new car and then just drove out to LA kind of just on like some fucking mode shit damn I was like dude I need to get out of Florida just go and like try to skate have fun dropped out of school

17:36Davis Torgerson:with like one year did you have some homies there already uh yeah yeah like I had been on a couple trips there to stay with like Grant Yansura and like we crashed with like Alex Schmidt and then when I moved out there I stayed on his couch for a little bit until I got a place with Grant Yansura and uh brent o'donnell he was like the photographer for weekend of the time og okay how long were you there for because right now we're talking to you from brooklyn you eventually made the move but give us kind of the timeline on la and then uh picking up and coming back east i was in la for like eight years like eight years fully damn and then yeah like moved from florida i think in 20 2015 and then moved here in 2023 here to new york in 2023 yeah so it's been like a long long journey you ever going back to florida i don't know when but yeah i think or like who knows man maybe i'll fucking go like stay there stay wherever man i mean at this point i'm like dude i don't know if i'm gonna end up going back to florida shit just gets weird down there in certain places.

18:52Everyone's got guns. It's like something else weird. So like you said, you rode for weekend in the early days. Then you made the move over to Alzheimer's. How was the Alzheimer's era for you and what went down behind the scenes when it was coming to an end? Alzheimer's era was really sick. We went on some epic trips. We made a really good video. We did a full premiere tour for the video, which I feel like not a lot of skaters get to experience i don't know that crew was just insanely fun to party with and like travel with it was really fun it kind of got like looser and looser towards the end like people were starting to like kind of quit and there was just less like uh momentum i guess but i didn't really like think anything of it i was just like doing my thing and then zach baker who was the tm and then price holmes and rob harris the two owners they were all hanging out like calling each team member one by one telling them that the company was done but i was on a trip staying at will marshall's in montreal like we were out street skating filming for an all-timers video and then will's like oh i gotta take this call like skates it on the street comes back he's like all right yeah whatever like nothing happened and then i get a call like 10 minutes later and it's it's zach baker and he's like yo what up i'm like oh hey what's up how's the trip going like pretty good pretty good fucking haven't got anything yet he's like okay that's good don't don't get anything actually uh yeah he's like don't don't get any clips the company's uh not a thing anymore i was like what started laughing he's like no yeah no i'm not joking like it's over i was like what like the fuck that's the oddest end to a company you're like what the fuck fuck yeah i was like all right i guess i'll just see you back in new york we were obviously bummed but it wasn't it's not like hard feelings with anybody or anything it's all love people gotta do what they gotta do well in more joyous news you're back on weekend

20:58Davis Torgerson:now so full circle there yeah how did that come about and what y 'all cooking up man uh dude i'm I'm so happy to be back on weekend. I mean, I never stopped being friends with any of the guys, especially Trevor and Grant. They're just such old friends of mine. And after Alzheimer's, we kind of just started joking around, talking. Me and Trevor were talking a bunch. Because he was living in Connecticut at the time, and we would go skate with him in New Haven. He was co-owning that skate shop, Flush, that they had in downtown New Haven. Randomly, I was just kind of working, doing my thing, like not sure what to do or like even just what was possible and trevor hit me up like yo like how sick would it be if you got back on and i was like dude that would be pretty cool but like i don't know like grant like there's no way grant's down and he's like i'll talk to grant see what he says and like if he's down what do you think and i was like oh dude i don't know like we gotta just like keep talking about it like i can't just like say something you know like i'd love to put me on right away or something i don't know why i was just like unsure and then grant and trevor talked and then we all talked and then me and grant talked and it just sounded doper and doper and then i was like thinking like it doesn't make sense to really ride for anything else i'm not gonna do like tryouts like it makes more sense to go back home and also when we started talking about like the skit the possibilities i was like dude this is just gonna be too good like we have to do some funny ass shit with this you can't say no to the skits can't say no to the skits they're too they're too sick they're fun yeah fuck and you've had some bad luck i feel like with uh sponsorship timing like i don't know what your shoe situation is at the moment but even just what we've already ran through huff wasn't a program much longer after you got on and then all timers like i feel like you got on closer to the end like i feel like a couple times over the years i'd hear like oh sully's like on this and this i'm like oh sick i have to hear that for him and then just bad timing programs end but uh is there any other ones we've missed along the way of like uh different shoe or board stops that had bad timing i was i was like contracted with dc for like a year and then that just like it was like the last year of like dc as we knew it i guess i mean like how it's kind of like it's a weird it's in like an interesting place right now yeah that was the other one it was like alzheimer's in dc i was like oh perfect like yeah yeah yeah i don't know i i don't like i don't know if this is because it's been like that but i never really have like expectations of anything with skate brands and companies and like things happening just because i don't know like it's i've never like made a living off skating really but yeah i've been kind of just been random bad timing with shit that's i don't know yeah it's like so it's pretty funny but it's also i don't know it is what it is can't stop skating either way so it doesn't make a difference i feel like the all-timers one came out of nowhere it was like such a strong brand when it came out and it seemed like it was doing so well and so popular and then just like out of nowhere it was done yeah yeah i felt the same way but at the same time i think there was like money things happening behind the scenes that people were it was like if things don't reach this point by this time maybe think about uh you know investing more money into this than like you're getting seeing as a return or whatever i don't know if you have like a family and you already have another job too and the company starts to like it could either like start to eat away at like not be so fun anymore like i totally get just kind of being like all right we tried we did it we had a good 10 years like let's just be out they were around for 10 years or no i think i spoke too soon i don't know how many years wow maybe like nearly 10 i don't know dude they were one of the best like skateboard party teams of all time i think like yeah top five or something like up there with the red dragons and baker they had a little bit longer dude yeah left their mark even more no you're right yeah with like tyler warren and Ben Blundell.

25:20If they get to a couple more years, they could have got there. Will? Yeah, Will? Jesus Christ. Even at the height of those Piss Drunks dudes partying, they were not touching Will, bro.

25:36Those dudes.

25:40Davis Torgerson:I got to disagree with that one. That's crazy. That's an unreal comparison. dude i don't know man i never we gotta put a poll up well like those guys i mean i'm pretty sure this is commonly known but then those guys do heroin at the time like they're not they're on another level than will i just i'm just having fun but yeah they're probably like serious having serious problems and doing intravenous drugs and stuff. None of my homies are doing that. None of my homies are doing that right now. Some homies used to do that shit. What the fuck, man? So Sully, what's the deal with you and Kerry Goetz, man?

26:30Kerry, one of my OG favorite skaters, but when I met him the same weekend that Fabrizio saved my life, I met Kerry Goetz at Tampa Pro. And I had this bright pink board. I was walking around like getting signatures from pros and I was like 12 probably wearing like a big element t-shirt or something just like annoying kid like autograph autograph and uh I go up to Gary Goetz and I was like yo Gary like on the roll and this was back when like even the fans could just be out like on the deck of the ramps and shit yeah and so I run up the roll I run up the roll in to get like every skater's autograph like a psycho and so I'm like yo Gary like uh but dude, you're like one of my favorite skaters.

27:15One day maybe, I want to make it in skating. Do you have any advice? I swear he was just signing my board, not even looking at me, and he was like, honestly, man, I wouldn't hold your breath. You're probably not cut out for it. Hands me my board back and just rolls away.

27:37Oh, shit. I was like, what? They kept it too real back then, eh? So real, dude. And, you know, he's like north. He's an east coast motherfucker, like, from Pennsylvania or some shit. So he's just like, yeah, bro, it's going to be hard. Peace. So I'm just like, oh, shit. My homie standing next to me was just like, dude, that guy sucks. And I was like, yeah, no, he's just like, I don't know. He's the GOAT, but fuck. Crush my dreams, dude. Favorite skater pride, even though I didn't know the guy. I was like, no, no, he didn't mean it.

28:10Davis Torgerson:like that like he's cool yeah wow i love that story uh we've had him on the pod a handful of years ago now and he's like one of the nicest sweetest people you could imagine um it's just funny hearing that story that that version of him in the moment just like help get your pink board the hell out of my way i'm trying to kickflip this box right now pink board with like barely any real estate left for signatures probably like he was like yeah dude you i'm your favorite skater what's up with all this shit where's the loyalty kid neil hendrix cory nuffel jeff linosi like what the fuck but yeah no that day was a star studded dude i met like i just seen the crazy shit that day like that's sick i don't know did you ever skate in Tampa?

29:01I skated Tampa Am like three times. Sick. How did that go? Pretty bad every time. Like I never got close to being to doing well. But there was one year that I was practicing and my homie TJ, TJ Gaskell, he was like hired to film the contest. And I landed like my line like in practice. And I remember he was just on the deck or something. He's like, dude, if you land that like you might actually be able to make it into qualifiers if you do that line. And I was like, oh my god dude this is it i think the next day was like the day of like my jams friday or whatever and i think it was a three-person jam and they call out your names before so that you could like get to your starting points you know and so i'm waiting i tell them like oh i'm over here but i like pointed to the roll and i was like on the other side of the park and they're like all right he's crossing the park so everything's quiet no one's on the course i'm skating across the course for some reason I tried to front board tap like a flat bar into the bank like I don't know why I tried to do this just like on the way to the other side of the park like we weren't I don't know what the fuck I was thinking and I just didn't turn like far enough out of the front board to roll away I just landed 90 and I slid down the bank and hit my face on the ground and I split my eyebrow and started just pouring blood everywhere like I needed stitches immediately they were like oh shit what the fuck like why did that just happen uh like well all right we gotta like fill this in somebody this will be a two-person jam and i'm like i'm going to the hospital like i'll skate tomorrow and so they let me skate in like another jam the next day i like tried to do my my run with like stitches in my head and i was just like it was a wrap

30:49Davis Torgerson:I couldn't do it. But I would have probably won if I didn't fall, you know? That was the time, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, right. Sure. We'll count it. We'll count it as a win. Fuck it.

31:07Think you know Donald well? Well, now you'll get to know me a little bit better. During the first season of ice hockey, he refused to hit the puck. He said he just loved the game too much. In the second season, the puck hit him in the groin And after that, he developed the best slap shot on his team Dono has always been an early adopter So when he first saw a scooter, he thought it would be the next big thing after skateboarding And bought one online straight away Later that day, when he found out that none of his friends felt the same He immediately regretted his purchase Two days later, when the scooter was delivered to his door And Dono and his friends were already over he claimed it must have been a mistake and that he never ordered the scooter this led to a conversation with it with the delivery man much like the one austin powers international man of mystery has about his swedish made penis enlarge before starting the bunt donald was set to pursue a career as rapper his name was going to be electric d referring to his profession The first line of his yet-to-be-released debut single goes, I'm electric, you're electric, come on over here and things will get hectic.

32:20At a young age, Donald took salsa classes, and to this day you can hear him say, My mouth might lie, but my hips won't, as he enters any dance floor. Who brought you these facts about your favorite prodcaster? CHPO Brand did, the worldwide leader in sunglasses and watches. always doing it for the people.

32:45We heard an epic story about you drunk sleepwalking at Kevin Sheely's house, man. We got to hear this one. Oh my God, dude. I was fucking Kevin, man. We used to live together in college and we would party a lot and drink a lot. I had a weird thing where if I drank even the littlest bit of brown liquor, it would make me sleepwalk and like do kind of random shit. But so yeah, we're just like same era. We go to visit Kevin's mom's house in like West Palm Beach, like for spring break from Florida State. We'd always go and stay with Kevin's mom, like skate around West Palm and film for like Fletch's videos.

33:28We get home like late from some club called like Respectables or something. and I fall asleep on the couch on the around my air mattress in the living room and Kevin's house isn't like a giant house it's just like a two or three bedroom house like a small Florida kind of cottage home I woke up in the morning and I was in a bedroom I'd never been in like in a bed I'd never been in you know and they there was like three dogs and two cats all on the bed and they're just surrounding me and staring at me like panting and just like and I'm like what the fuck like I'm so fucking confused and i get out of bed and i'm like i like look around and i'm just like oh what yeah okay like this is kevin's mom's room what the fuck so i walk out to the living room and i'm like yo dude like what happened he's like he's sitting there like just drinking coffee just shaking his head like dude you're so fried like what the fuck and so apparently i got when i woke up in the middle of the night and walked slept walked into kevin's mom's room and like her door wasn't fully closed it was like cracked so the pets could go in and out and so i just kind of like according to her i like just kind of walk into the door and it just like slowly opens and i'm just like walk up to the bed like it's pitch black and i'm just like looming over the bed just like and she's like oh hello oh hey uh solomon what can i do for you honey she was like the sickest she's so nice she's so nice and i'm just like i was just she said i started laughing and i just took both hands and just started to push her to make room for me

35:16and she's like such an angel she's like well you know i know not to wake up a sleepwalker so i just scooted over and made you some room and you just went right to bed next to me oh my god she went to work like all early and i woke up in her bed so confused and kevin was just like yeah dude what the fuck man and then when she came home later i was immediately like so like you know just sheepish just like i'm so sorry like that's so embarrassing and i'm just oh my god like this is fucking me up and she was just like oh i had a great time like she was making she was making jokes about it and shit it was really it was really good wow just her telling me the story like i just scooted over and just you know let you come on in and they got like big dogs too so i woke up and i'm just in a room i'd never been in with big ass dogs just like that's insane like staring at me and i was just like oh fuck man

36:21Davis Torgerson:that's fucking nuts i love that though um all right let's talk about one of the greatest clips ever captured um that's floated around i haven't seen it in a while but i have seen it it's it's glorious uh and it involves you and ryan allen oh my god damn i haven't seen that clip in a long time either uh yeah we were on like a uh huff trip to puerto rico yeah we were skating like just you know going around skating a bunch of shit we got us some hubba and i was trying to board slide it it's just like a tall mellow hubba on like block stairs and ryan is like standing upright with both of his hands on the camera and uh i don't even think we were really pranking any there wasn't like a lot of pranks going on but i think it was just the vibe was like ryan does not like to be fucked with kind of i was just i don't know like i wasn't i'm not like super i wasn't super close to them or anything and i don't know i was just hyped on that i was like oh what like he's like this fucking legend ass dude he doesn't like get fucked with it's like kind of like makes you want to just do something you know dude and uh you couldn't resist dude i couldn't resist and he was wearing these fucking these like just swim trunks you know like standing in the streets we were like swimming all the time going to Puerto Rico and yeah I roll away from the board side and as I'm rolling away I just roll behind him and right when I roll behind him like he's still facing the thing probably getting like blanks or just looking at the photo he just shot so both of his hands are taken you know perfect opportunity to pass it and I just like take a step off my board and just like like pull his pants down and he was like fuck like tripped out everybody starts laughing it's it's fucking captured on camera everything yeah it was so funny dude the timing was impeccable it was so good dude it was like fucking love there wasn't like um it was like less than five seconds after like i was still rolling away from the trick just straight to pants somebody did you know it was filmed or you just were like fuck it i'm just doing it no i don't know because it was super spontaneous like i was just thought to do it in that one little moment oh that show was awesome um dude you kind of have an obsession with painting yourself blue yes you've done it like multiple times where'd that come from and how many times have you done it the first time i ever did it was with me kevin shealy and my friend ryan we just wanted to do blue man group like we thought that would just be so funny to do for halloween this was back in college as well and so we got the whole bald cap and shit we did it it was pretty funny and then i don't know like every year since then i just it just is like a tradition like it's so fun to paint your skin blue and like do like go for it you know because once you're blue you're like it gives you like a whole energy for the night like if you're trying to have like a dope halloween it's it's cool to like look so fucked like that because everywhere you go it just kind of like adds to the the energy everything or something but at this point it's just it's becoming like random like a couple years ago it was like i painted myself blue but i had a george washington costume so i was just george washington with blue skin i don't know i went to like a merciful fate concert or it was king diamond actually but i just painted my skin blue for like a concert like i don't know it's just so fun to be blue now you're finding any reason now yeah it's not even halloween anymore dude yeah now i'm just like fuck dude like it's been a while let's bust out the blue paint yeah yeah exactly you're on your uh tobias funke tip man you could say you like to blue yourself yeah yeah exactly but dude that the night i was george washington i ran into my homie who was Tobias and uh it was so weird he's like oh blue blue and I was like yeah yeah like we're both blue and uh he's like yeah but you're like fucking George Washington or whatever and I was like what's wrong with that and he's like I don't know dude just fucking what the fuck like why and then he was with like some random chicks and they were like yeah we don't get it and I was like okay fuck what do why do I have to why do you have to get it it was so weird they all got bummed and And I was just like, all right, dude, I'm just going to leave and like go back with my friends over here and think it's funny.

40:57Davis Torgerson:That's a great costume. Both of you. So a skater's worst nightmare is the credit card. And we heard this happen to you in Miami, man. What's the story there? Oh, yeah. We were filming for Huff's Forever video. and we were at this kind of a steep bump over like like a bump to bar but the bar was like to the side of the bump and I was trying to heel flip it for so long it was in the middle of summer so hot like fuck like 100 degrees humid as hell and I was getting close and then just a random one just classic like perfect credit card to my uh taint I forgot the scientific word for that part of your body but uh yeah and it just started bleeding and uh it was so it was so hot like i'm like like honestly i was like kind of tearing up i was like fuck fuck so i have like i have a another previous injury like down there and it's like a little like ptsd vibes and so i'm like feeling it i was like oh shit i see the blood on my hand i was like no dude fuck like i gotta go to hospital and as i'm saying that smolinski who was filming we just hear him like thud and he just faints like up against this fence just like falls over we're like yo what the fuck and i'm like bleeding he's on the ground everyone's like dude what the fuck is happening you know he gets up he's like the gang's falling apart yeah we just ended up going to the hospital they dropped me off there and then they went home everybody they like went back to the airbnb it's like a miami hospital is kind of gnarly and i'm waiting for so long and i i'm in like so much fucking pain i finally see this doctor and he's like buff as shit all tatted up like some miami bro ass doctor he's like you're a skater like says you hear you hurt yourself skating like all right and i'm at this point i'm in stirrups because i got an ultrasound like just to make sure everything was good on the inside he's like yo there's like a couple we could do this a couple ways he's talking to me like i was like i don't know like it's like when you go to a hospital and you're a skater sometimes they'll talk to you like they think you want to be talked to or something but i always find it kind of disrespectful i don't know they're like damn bro you fucked your nuts up and i'm like what dude don't say that like like don't call me bro like just treat me like a fucking adult uh but yeah he's like yeah we uh we could either give you stitches but the local anesthesia is gonna be like a really thick needle and it goes in really deep and it's gonna hurt pretty much as bad as the injury itself and you're gonna be in here for like a really long time it's gonna it's gonna take like hours like into like it was already like midnight at this point he's like or or i could just give you raw staples no anesthesia i was like fuck man like and i'm in the stirrups and he's just all those options dude i know i was like fuck all right like what would you some worst i don't know why i said this but i was like what would you recommend end he's like well you have a hell of a pain tolerance like i bet you could take these staples like nothing he's like amping me up and i was like what dude like all right yeah and i started falling for it i was like you're right i could like fuck it dude i don't give a fuck staple my shit up and it's just me and him in a dark room like i don't even think and it never dude this whole shit was weird because i never got like billed for this whole stay well this one was on the house dude he's fully on the house super weird and they gave me an ultrasound and shit like that's so expensive i don't know he's like all right i'm gonna count to three you ready he's like one two three douche i was like i fucking yelled like howled in this room dude i never felt anything like that i was like oh

44:55and he's just like yeah he's like it's like a gym thing for this guy i was like Like dude what he's like, all right, we got one more one more count of three I was like just do it do it. He's like one two he does it on two

45:16This guy hit the two yeah, he hit the two and I was like fucking But like okay, we're done and he's like man. I'm he's looking at he's like dude i'm sorry we gotta do one more no count or nothing just like and i was like screaming dude like literally like howling like a movie like whoa

45:41that's insane who is this guy he wasn't even a doctor homie this is some guy that's why it was free bro is it looks like a an actual staple gun like what is this thing that he's using It's basically the exact same, but the staples are a little different and they're not as wide. They're like, it's just a shrunken down version. And he's like, you're good to go, bud. Yeah, he just sent me out. He's like, yeah, you got somebody picking you up or what's up? And I was like, I don't know. Fuck. I haven't been on my phone. Yeah, I'm just going to go for a walk. And I'm walking like all bow-legged out of this place.

46:19Like, dude, what the fuck? Fucking hell. that's fucking twisted it was twisted man he asked me where i live and i told him la and he's like oh well are you gonna go to a doctor out there to remove your staples i was like do i have to or do you think i could do it myself he's like you can't do it yourself but a friend could do it super easily or like a girlfriend or something it's so it's so simple he's like just take this tool and he gives me like a staple a medical staple removal tool oh god oh i know dude it's all so like graphic sounding it's weird once you like go through it it's like it's so easy to talk about i don't know it's fucking weird but if if you were telling me the same story i'd be like cringing uh but yeah my homie my roommate at the time jack fucking stepped up and took the staples out like a legend fucking crazy fucking dope yeah and that wasn't that's not even like the main like i've had like a another gnarly injury like in that area of my body which is like so crazy i don't know if anybody do we want to know what the other one was it's like it's pretty interesting like medically speaking it's it's kind of like impossible that it happened but i

47:35Davis Torgerson:Let's hear it. Let's hear it. I was rolling away from a trick at a skate park in LA. I don't know exactly what it was. I was tray flipping a five-stair at Palmer Park in Glendale. There's a wall, like a knee-high ledge wall that guards the skate park from the rest of the playground area. I didn't see it. I look up and I just reacted to knowing I was about to fall over the wall. I don't know how I was standing on my board, but I took... like front foot was on the nose back foot was in the middle or something i stepped with my back foot off first my front foot like lead footed the nose somehow but so perfectly that the board paddled me like right in my testicles right in the ball side which is usually just like oh fuck it's like a nut tap your homie would give you or something like that but like this shit i immediately fainted i just fell like went black fell to my back and then like it was like a just a couple seconds or whatever but i was like what the fuck and then i was in so much pain that it made me like black out wow and that went a lot about the rest of the day like homies were there like i'm skating with friends and they're just like laughing like that was hilarious it probably looked so funny and they're just like what the fuck happened you know i was like dude i don't know i hate my balls like fuck that shit hurts but it kind of like felt like it could just be like a normal injury and that's what i thought but it was getting more and more painful my sack was getting bigger and bigger over the hours so i go to bed that night uh and i wake up like i get like the pain like tore me out of my sleep and i wake up just like oh fuck dude like i need to go to the hospital like i knew it immediately like something was going on so my friend andrew Considine and teammate he was staying at our house I was living with Grant Anser at the time he's sleeping on the couch Andrew is I wake him up it's like 5am I'm like yo dude I don't know what's happening but I need to go to the hospital right now can you take me he's like yeah yeah what the fuck and at this point my nuts are like this big dude and like the size of like they're like dark purple like plum purple just looked so and I didn't I didn't know what was going on So I get to the hospital.

49:52I tell them what happened. And I'm like, I need to be seen right now. Like, everything is, something is seriously wrong. This is like a super emergency. And luckily, there was nobody there. They saw me super quick. Or I sit in the bed. They get me on, like, a pain reliever morphine, you know, like drip morphine. So I'm chilling at that point. I'm just talking. This doctor is like, oh, you're a skater. It's somewhere like Nike SB flip flops or something at the time. And he was like, oh, I'm friends with somebody that works for Nike. do you know ryan flynn and it's ryan flynn the photographer for nike and i was like yeah i know ryan he's he's the man he's like oh like same shit doctor being like way too comfortable he's like let's take a selfie and he's like taking a selfie with me in the bed insane dude like i would that's like so crazy to do like but whatever it's all good i'm like super laid back so it's fine and uh he was just like takes this photo with me he sends it to ryan it's like this thing we're all just kind of laughing I'm like high as fuck on morphine just like yeah dude oh my notes are fucked up and then they take me to get an ultrasound you know they do the ultrasound and all of a sudden the guy I work the ultrasound technician is like oh whoa I gotta get some more eyes on this I've never seen anything like this and I'm just like what I'm at this point I've never had surgery before or anything I've never been to the hospital really besides for like Like, I don't know.

51:15I can't even remember. I've probably never been. Yeah, he was like, oh, my God. Oh, my God. Yeah, yeah, get in here. Get in here. It's like more five, six fucking doctors come in there. And they're all looking at this screen. And I'm just sitting there like, dude, what the fuck? And they're like pointing at it. And they're like, so how exactly did this happen? And they're like asking me. And I'm like, dude, it's just like a ping pong paddle hitting a ball. Like, that's it. I don't know. And they were like, they should turn the screen. and my right like my right testicle was in two pieces in my sack oh like a piece it's it somehow cracked the right one and the and it just was like loose like and they had to remove that piece like emergency style wow they're like dude your sack is dying like as we speak we need to get you into surgery immediately they're like call your mom or whatever because you're going to be under anesthesia yeah, I just went to sleep, woke up.

52:13They were like, you're all done. Yep, you're all good. It was totally fine, totally smooth surgery, and you're good to go. I was just like, alright. So I left, and from the hospital, drove straight to the roast of Johan Stuckey. It was insane. Dude. Huge fucking diaper bandages on. I'm high as shit on pain meds. walking into this crazy ass like a stand-up comedy skate theater wow dude i had like a stand-up bit written for that night as one of the roasters yeah i was like dude i'm not i'm gonna like hide and i just like hid there people were walking up like dude i heard what happened are you good and i was just like what the fuck is happening wow it was like a weird like fucking hunter s thompson

53:05Davis Torgerson:dream or some shit that's insane so the half that's left does it still work or is they like what was the after effect of all that it all works fine yeah no like lasting effects which is pretty dope wow crazy oh but this is a pretty interesting addition to that another weird thing about like doctors just kind of doing whatever they want and i'm down for doctors i'm not against them at all or anything but this dude like when i woke up he was like hey have you ever heard of a like testicular uh is it torsion i think and they get twisted you heard of this no i don't think so it's surprisingly like kind of common like dudes will sleep funny and then they wake up and have pain down there and then oh yeah the hospital and basically this happened to someone that on the pod was it it happened to someone was it windsor james i'm pretty sure we heard a story about it but sorry go ahead but yeah so like it's it's not the end of the world but it's it can be super serious if you don't fix it fast uh you can like fully just like you know have to get some shit removed whatever i wake up from the surgery and the dude is like yeah you heard of that that happening to people and i was like yeah for sure and he's like well i gave you an extra little snip snip and it it will never happen to you it's impossible for that to happen to you and i was like what you didn't i didn't have a choice in that and he's like what you're mad and i was like i know but i i was just like whatever dude thanks i guess like i don't know what the bro you gotta stay away from the doctors i know i'm just like smiling and they're like oh we'll just fucking he's having he's having fun us too and i'm like no i'm just i'm just trying to be polite or some shit i don't know so i guess it's good that it happened but that's right and my mom being a nurse in the er like I tell her the shit and she's like what?

55:01Like yeah I don't know. Yeah. Wow. That's terrifying. We heard you had a hectic NYC bus ride trip when you were younger. What's the story there? I guess this was like early time living in Tallahassee going to school there. It's like me, Kevin Sheely and Jonathan Fletches, some other friends. We're like fuck I'm gonna go to New York and we had driven to Atlanta. Fletcher's dad lives in like Marietta or something. Yeah, we go from Atlanta. We buy these bus tickets that are$17 a piece and takes you on this bus from Atlanta to New York City. And the bus is like, there's a big panda on it. I think it's literally called the Panda Bus.

55:40So you'll see it in like Chinatown when you're skating around there. But it's super trife. Like it's the worst bus on the fucking, on the whole country or some shit. Has to be. Because like we were, the driver was driving so slow and he stopped once every hour to buy more and more cartons of cigarettes because I think he had some type of hustle. You buy them for cheap from a state like Virginia and then you sell them heli-tax in New York. But it was making the trip take insanely long. The AC was broken on the bus. The bathroom was I don't think it was working. the ceiling was leaking water when it rained like a lot like a ton of water like not just like there's a leak this thing sucks it's like every so many people are getting wet and we're all kind of just having like kind of having fun but also as the hours go by you're just like wait a sec we're trapped like we don't we have no choice so we like start like getting some fucking beers at the stops like this dude keeps stopping just for like keep you know whatever we just have to like kind of like drink our way through this or whatever I think I was like 21 at the time or 22 my friend on the bus I won't say who I won't say his name but he thought he could get away with like smoking weed on the bus and he's like oh I'll like put my hoodie over my whole body and like hit it just like once put it out hold it in as long as I can you know whatever but like dude like the whole bus just smelled like so much weed immediately it's a bus like what the fuck you can't like smoke weed in a closed space like that everyone's like a wicked idea yeah that's good we were all honestly like all pretty pissed because every you just saw people's heads turning everyone's talking like people are fucking just we're the worst people on this bus for sure we get out at the next stop we're just hanging out like talking stretching our legs and this dude walks up to my friend who was smoking he walks up he's like he's like you the one smoking on the bus boom hits him my friend is just like fucking what the fuck he's about to like cock back on the dude and the guy just has a pistol out immediately he's just like what's up what's up he's like you don't fucking know what people are doing on this bus oh and we're all like oh yo sorry dude sorry like let's get back in the car let's get back in the car and we're just assuming and then the dude like with the gun is just like yeah yeah like that's right and just walks into at this parking lot like probably had a car waiting for him there it's like somewhere in the carolinas we get back on the we're walking back over to the bus and we're just shook and that guy said some crazy shit as well as that like just some wild ass racially charged shit that we were all just like yo what the fuck and like i don't know we're walking back under the bus and our the bus driver's standing we're in front of the bus when this all happened like 20 feet in front of the bus the bus driver the whole time was standing on the grill of the bus watching the whole shit happened just smoking and we're like did you fucking see that and he was just and he said get back on the bus you morons he called us all morons my homie just got like a gun in his face he got hit we're all like just freaking out you know this dude just flicks his sick gets back fucking starts driving like nothing happened i was like all right when we get to new york eventually just dropped off in chinatown at like 6 a.m and And yeah, that was it.

59:15Sounds like a nightmare. Oh, last part about that. Dude, the cherry on top, the rotten cherry on top of the nightmare was getting to our homie's crib where we were staying. And it was like a room that a friend asked a friend of his that we didn't know if we could all crash in this room. Somehow they were down. Strangers were down to have six people stay in their spare room. We were grateful, but I was like, who the fuck are these people? They're awesome. we all get inside we all immediately like sardine ourselves on this bed like it's laid like like we're laying across it so all our feet are hanging off and shit everybody wakes up a few hours later like we're all gonna go get up get some breakfast get our day going and for some reason i was covered in what i think were bed bug bites like i had like red itchy bumps all over me and nobody else in the crew had anything like that and i was just like dude i don't know what the fuck this is so i'm like rubbing myself with lotion trying to like skate around to spots and shit like it was so weird it sounds like a nightmare panda bus have bus fucked you up but 17 dollars

1:00:27Davis Torgerson:though yeah sometimes when it's too good to be true it's too good to be true uh so what's next for you Sully man what are you cooking up there's like a welcome back to weekend skate coming out and then a full-length weekend video coming out okay that should be really dope I think like full parts from nearly everybody on the team and with skits like throughout the video you know classic weekend so so um and yeah just like the everything just thawed like yesterday in New York and just gonna fucking have a epic summer full of skating and just try to yeah just keep stacking clips and staying healthy hell yeah what are you doing for shoes these days i've just i'm skating last resorts in there fucking sick hell yeah fire

1:01:20Davis Torgerson:yo yo yo it's rapid fire with the ghost and this week we're honored to be brought to you by the only trucks that matter that's right it's venture and sully himself is on the team and you know who else eric herrera who just dropped a new part on the venture youtube and his first ever pro truck a pro edition raw black tinted truck with purple bushings available in 5.2 low and 5.8 don't sleep hit up boardroom sanction drifted fakie in canada and brooklyn projects rhythm escapist pharmacy in the states and grab yourself a set

1:02:02Davis Torgerson:okay sully you know what time it is you've listened to the show before a little rapid fire before we get you out of here but i also just wanted to say it was chris brown apologies to Windsor James mixing up stories here. Windsor had a situation, but Chris Brown got the twisty, so you don't have to worry about that. I know the doctor took liberties. But if you go back and listen to that Chris Brown story, it's gnarly. So it's kind of probably a good thing. You don't have to worry about that. Yeah, yeah. I was grateful, surprised and grateful. Yeah, it is crazy. I would be like, I get American. Y 'all love suing people down there.

1:02:46Davis Torgerson:Fucking sue his ass for doing you a favor. It's the weirdest thank you you probably ever had to hand out. Alright, man. You ready to pop off here? Yeah, let's do it. Alright, favorite skater? John Cardiel. Favorite video? Lo-Fi by Brad Cromer and Pang. Sick. Good one. Favorite video part? honestly like growing up i would watch andrew reynolds in stay golds like over and over again that one is like a classic even though now it's like it's like obviously a timestamp part but it's just like peak performance from a fucking epic epic skater but yeah i don't know like mark suçu cross continental pops up in my mind like every rowan part early like chef dogs like rowan i was i remember being like super influenced by that sick yeah great selection oh there's one more i just have to say sorry i know it's like rapid but it's this like shared sammy winter jake johnson grab his part that's like super low-key but it's so fucking good you can know what i'm talking about i know uh i'm sure we've seen it i can't think of it right now it sounds like an epic combo.

1:04:03Davis Torgerson:It's banging. It's random. It's so banging. Sick. Shout Sammy Winter. Well, shout both of them. Favorite style? Antoine Dixon or Nick Trapasso, but like Nick Trapasso back in the day. Yeah. That's an epic one too right there. Like Brad Cromer. Good style. Good style. Which skater had the biggest influence on the way you skate? Like Huff and like Reese Forbes and the fast like all ears like just like mashing all in shit probably like those two most talented skateboarder on planet earth crazy Frankie damn sick you can do anything favorite trick switch front shove hardest trick for you impossible or hardflip those two are regular inward heel I literally have never landed any of those like i can't i don't know and i try them all the time still most illegal trick lip slide to nose manual like all four wheels it's like the most god awful combo anyone has ever thought of doing damn i can't even pick i mean i've seen them but i'm trying to think of a specific one that is yeah obviously hectic gatekeepers were were doing their job like i think without because people were trying to like make them be a thing like and then i at least i was seeing it and i was like wait what but you're just like riding for a second yeah yeah uh favorite clip you've ever gotten like my last trick and then my last part it's like this bump to bar to 50 50 on a handrail you know yeah that was gnarly as fuck uh what's the worst trend you've been a part of fucking like high waters with like funny socks just awkward like not knowing how to dress with those funny pants like a big t with like high waters and just being like yo i'm leaving the crib

1:06:18Davis Torgerson:steez what's the gnarliest trick you've ever witnessed one of the most like shocking tricks i've ever seen in person i was in barcelona when on a huff trip when jake anderson like front 360 healed bezos oh do you remember that wow of course oh the wave bar yeah it's like you pump you pump and then you fucking dude he front three healed that like pretty much perfect it was i couldn't believe it like i remember just seeing him get closer and closer and closer and it was like it wasn't like a freakish one happened it was like he just got closer and closer and closer until he just rolled away and i was like dude like what the fuck so sick just how how like That trick's not even a trick anybody's got.

1:07:06Figure it out on that weird-ass bump to bump.

1:07:11Davis Torgerson:Jake, what's the one trick that got away? Probably like, I don't know. I've been trying to switch front shove 50-50 a handrail for so long. I don't know if it's going to happen. It's going to happen. But it's just funny. Yeah, now that I said it, I'm like, fuck, now I have to do it. yeah but everyone knows i've like tried it on like six different rails over the past three years probably and it's just like i don't know i'm not like good at it and i don't practice it but it's hard to find the right rail for it ideally because you can kind of have more room for error but but you can lock in like weird and then like put it into place or something whereas like sometimes on square you just when you slam in you just like stop for some reason i'm down for either i'll do i'll as long as it's like not long but even then it's so scary like i just not not a big rail skater um what's the biggest bunt you've ever witnessed i think growing up my friend ian he'll be hyped on this my friend ian who's like he still skates a lot but he's not like pursuing it as he's not like in the world of skating really he would always like try to crook pop over he wanted to crook pop over so bad and he would always be like this trip i'm gonna get it like i'm gonna crook pop over something you know but i swear he would try and he was really he was good and he could fully do it but he would get shook like in the moment like at a skate park he would just be crook pop over and shit and then he'd be at like a little dinky spot and he'd be like all right right here like okay and then he would fucking like fold over the rail or like i swear he broke his arm like twice trying to quick pop over but it would be like bunty like because you know it's like hesitant tries where you just it's like dude you're not gonna do it like that kind of like go for it the fuck are you doing that sucks yeah you can't make it a big thing too then there's too much pressure and it's like i feel like it's harder to ride away from something when it's like a big ordeal i know from experience well i didn't even try switch smith in australia but when it gets out of hand like that and everyone starts to anticipate it it's like yeah good luck like all of a sudden the trick is like this equation but you're literally doing like yeah like a smith yeah switch switch but you know there's not like flipping in and shit yeah uh what's the last new trick you learned switch heel late front shove on flat whoa uh dream job after skating making really nice furniture out of wood sick sick making like nice ass furniture favorite local brand uh plahowski furniture plahowski woodworking he's like my old boss for a little bit bra plahowski yeah or uh oh zaki zaki times oh very nice yeah oh yeah favorite local skater oh uh kinzer kathy is that in new york homie yeah yeah he lives here in brooklyn he's from north carolina though sick hell yeah uh what's the one sponsor you regret riding for i don't know i've never really ridden for anything i never really rode for anything that i thought was like looking back on was like straight up whack we don't need to force an answer okay um favorite teammate ever maybe trevor thompson hell yeah worst teammate ever uh i love him but jake anderson

1:10:58i love jake but man some of those early up trips were brutal when in doubt just go with jake

1:11:05Davis Torgerson:yeah yeah but i love you jake i really love you jake um worst company oh edgelord oh zero hesitation bruv wow that's so easy wow that shit's crazy what the fuck is that shit that's narve That's what even the fuck. Yeah. Bad. Fair. Take each their own. Worst trend. This is kind of like just over time, like it waxes and wanes, but people just kind of like trying to like show almost like aesthetically look rich or something. like skaters trying to like look ballin in their hoodie I think is like really fucking weird

1:12:08Davis Torgerson:it's just like I don't know man no I've definitely seen that more and more I don't know just like ODing on jewelry and ODing on like swag and just like I don't know dude it's like I get it everybody wants to be like wants a golden ticket to be like famous cool person that just gets paid to just like live and that means being like flashy to like American audience or something but it's just kind of gross. Worst style? Probably like Chris Cole dude.

1:12:43That's a creative answer. I like that. Never heard that. damn holy shit it's making sense it's making sense what do you mean

1:12:58Davis Torgerson:shit I mean no one's ever accused him of having the best style ass style that's true definitely not I've never heard any

1:13:14Davis Torgerson:last but not least who's the last person you want on the sesh I do not really want Strobeck to be on the set.

1:13:30So fucking hell.

1:13:31Davis Torgerson:Breaking out the flamethrower to end this episode. I don't know him. I don't even know that guy. I don't even know him. It doesn't even matter, dude. I don't even know him. I could just tell. It's just like, you made all these good videos and stuff. Just keep doing it. That's crazy. dude i can't get over chris cole man i can't believe that oh dude yeah he's had it coming for years yes he's escaped weird ass style yeah damn puff out your chest and your ass at the same time how do you do that yeah uh i just re-watched strange world and oh switch front side flip 5-0 on the hubbos crazy but yeah fucking that's fair that's fair that was explosive all right sully you did it man damn wow thanks guys killed it was it explosive now i'm scared it's all right man i got nothing to lose bro i love that energy man dude thank you guys so much for having me it's crazy remember we met for the first time this interview is my big break yeah we met at cha-cha so long ago exchange numbers and i can't believe it's taken this long to get you on but hyped we finally did dude i remember meeting you i remember being drunk and being like what do you guys say on the pod is it still that's sick and you're like yeah it's you're like yeah i say Did we say still?

1:15:06Like all normal? I was like, fuck. He's so sober. So sober. I was so drunk. Just like, damn, fuck, I'm so wet. That's wicked.

1:15:25Welcome back to Random Skater of the Week, the fastest growing segment on YouTube, hosted by our good friend Davis Torgerson and brought to you by Mob Grip, the number one choice of professional skateboarders worldwide and the reason is simple it's the goddamn grippiest this week tom k in the building what's cracking man yo not much just uh here to

1:15:50Davis Torgerson:do this let's fucking do it man just here to fucking take names um okay tom i guess i had uh ran you through it before but for those watching um i'm gonna be listing off a bunch of clues to one random skater you all get three guesses and can say them at any time and you can ask questions but that's that's it i have a pretty good idea what is what would you rate yourself as a skate nerd like i kind of just like i don't know much about the past i started skating in like oh four so i had to like go back and learn stuff so i missed a lot of things and i kind of stick to like the things i like that i learned about i don't really go into too much new stuff and then i'm not the best ever it's probably like a six out of ten or something i don't know i think i think you're being humble i think you're a pretty like studious skater and i think you even though you didn't start skating until 2004 maybe have done a pretty good job learning a lot about skateboarding before you started skating great job great job yeah an amazing job davis what would you rate safer and i i would rate safer at like a like who's pretty is like feedback Ted a 10.

1:17:14Yeah, Ted is a 10. Rothmeier. Rothmeier is an 11 out of 10.

1:17:19Davis Torgerson:So what's Safa on that scale? Clyde Singleton's really gnarly. He knows... He's like talking to me about limo and weekend and then knows everything about the past. Tom's listing off all the people that we shouldn't ever get on the show because it'll last one minute only. Safa's like a 7.5. Donald, you're like a 5.5. Give me a 3. What did I get? Five and a half. Oh, wicked. Dude, I thought I was getting three and a half. You can't be a part of a skate podcast and not be above five. I'm sorry. It's got no memory, man. It's gone. Okay, so should we just get into this or what? Yeah. Okay. I feel slightly disrespected.

1:18:01Davis Torgerson:I was hoping for an eight, but I'll take it. That's like a B. You got a B plus or something. Well, seven and a half. That's a C, I guess. Fuck. previous teammates of this skater include Mark Johnson, Chris Sen, and Tim O 'Connor.

1:18:28Okay.

1:18:32Davis Torgerson:We don't talk about it, right? We just think about it? We can have a chat. That's why we're here. Whatever you're thinking, it's whatever. Okay, so sit on that. This person has also skated to Gangstar.

1:18:56Davis Torgerson:Mark Johnson, Chris Sen, and who? Tim O 'Connor. Tim O 'Connor. Fuck.

1:19:06Davis Torgerson:Oh, shit. Do it, man. There's no way it's Joey Pepper.

1:19:15Davis Torgerson:it's not yeah yeah yeah two guesses left you got two guesses left I'm ready for Tom to break my heart though I will say this skater's middle name is Eugene I don't think that helps a ton of people maybe his relatives listening

1:19:42Davis Torgerson:um but when this skater was younger and still coming up at one point primarily skated only vert i shouldn't say only vert but primarily skated vert you want me to throw one out because you keep chirping me to guess let me go with uh i don't know my old boy is kenny hughes

1:20:11Davis Torgerson:you just shut me up because it is fucking kenny hughes wow all right holy shit i just watched an old element video yesterday yo you better give me an eight in skate nerd i just watched what's the old one called fucking kenny hughes is killing the minirap motherfucker why did you watch that shit who has the time to watch the old element you just watched it yeah wow third eye view third eye view right was that respect he was fresh in my head from yesterday um just wrecked tom k's fucking episode that was so good that was proper that was really really impressive can you name the company or companies that the teammates were with who were the uh the only one i had was tim o 'connor element that's why that was in my head um chris sen i was i was thinking it was going to be america an old america rider bro it's crazy when you said tim o 'connor he popped in my head fuck really you said eugene i'm like that's a pretty black name kenny eugene hughes and then maybe it's kenneth i had to guess after watching him destroy all the ramps in that video yesterday that's pretty sick that's pretty sick i'm sorry i'm sorry more clues so all of those previous teammates were with uh were with etnies because oh wow these video yellow um but yeah we fuck we didn't even scratch the surface and safea just fucking sniped it wait the etnies video what yellow was it not america oh shit it was america sorry sorry misspoke oh you'd be tripping me because i don't guess enough and saying i'm a 7.5 on the nerd scale fuck out of here no that was disrespectful that hurt safe a 7.5 I know that hurt dude he didn't like that it did and I took that personal um is this the shortest episode ever um it's it's not the shortest episode ever but it's kind of close yeah yeah alright well thanks for having me later uh give some more clues I'll say what was coming was in 4-1-1, the first step, the skater showed you how to set up a board.

1:22:30Davis Torgerson:We can't use this one, dude. We're going to have to skip this one. This was straight gangster shit. Next one. Next clue. Keep giving the clues, man. Tom, you might like this and maybe you would have remembered the skater switch crook the UCI nine stair. That's like one of the best switch crooks. Yeah. Ahead of its time, too. He did that so long ago. He gets on like way. He gets on so high on the rail it's seriously one of the best switch crooks he like ollies up to the rail or switch all he's up um the keys are out rail and sf damn straight fuck it's because you put that jacket on dude backside 180 the santa monica triple set hell right wow i just watched that part yesterday bro oh i had it regardless that's fucking who puts that on dude damn that's fucking crazy uh i will say one one really sick thing i wish i would have gotten to earlier was had um had an ad in front of a mercedes benz with a bunch of penguins around him it's a dc ad really so sick yeah i gotta find that yeah it's seriously so sick um yeah and then a bunch of fuck a bunch of other shit i was gonna start getting to like where's it where's a size 13 shoe and you could be like all right who's like a big boss um from wilmington north Carolina oh Mike Sinclair that's his OG homie right was would not would not have done this if Sinclair was the guest dude why are there penguins in this ad man this makes no sense fun fact about that that video the element video uh who has last part I already blanked on who has last part but the last part happens and then wow yeah look at how sick that is Donnie Barley comes in and just pushes i think he does like an ollie and it just says donnie barley and you think he's about to have last part and then it says now rides for element and then the video just ends it's like an ad kind of in their own video great watch though i think it was my first or second time watching it it's kind of like recently uh it's like the hard body video with yalta oh yeah it didn't say now riding but it ended with it ended with like yalta and you're like uh-huh that was crazy when you waited the like whole hour to get to y 'all yeah yeah they made us watch like an hour video was hella long to devastate us well say i gotta say you know what i'll give you an eight dude i'll give you a fucking eight maybe an 8.1

1:25:00Davis Torgerson:i'm back home man that's what changed everything man just don't bode well for the rest of us Fuck. You look great in front of that fireplace. What are some of those boards up there? We got... Good question. Chad Dixon, our Canadian legend homie. We got Western Edition, Jabari Pendleton, Herman Stenna, real board with the evil gummy bear. And we got a KB to round it out. Sick. And they've all been on the show except for Jabari. Might have to hit him up. Yeah. what's it take to get on that wall dude come on it's just sending you a board yeah maybe send me a board how about that it's only four boards yes say he's gonna get like 50 boards sent all past guests feel free to send me a board you guys are selling those spots up there man tom me and tom go way back man i'd love a tom board maybe uh maybe you can get like a tom skate metal board or something yo that would be sick actually damn it's probably hard to find you should ask brad for one yeah you should get brad on the show and then ask him for one dude we've tried tom you weren't you weren't pro on 3d right you were still am yeah oh that would be such a sick collectors i remember i remember when 3d folded and we were in china yeah that was gnarly that was gnarly check this out

1:26:28Davis Torgerson:fuck you were hating on davis's wi-fi but yours is kind of dust too brother why why is la's wi-fi so bad okay yeah we can see it we can see it it's like an ed templeton style it's like a cat v.a drew oh it's very it reminds me of ed's first board on new deal that i think ed drew oh they lost him oh and and he's gone i can barely hear you but yeah dude see my internet's fucking money dude you said internet in la is fucked all right dude someone end this thing dude It's already done dude It was dead after the second clue You've got mail Welcome back to the post office Brought to you by our good friends over at Dickie's skateboarding Quality work wear since 1922 From the work site to the streets Nobody does it like Dickie's man Alright ghost Who we got up first Alright first up We got an email from Noah H What up geez What's the cringiest thing you guys have ever done skateboarding wise?

1:27:32Davis Torgerson:For me, it was when I was skating in a contest and rolled up to the shop owner to shake his hand for the first time and accidentally grabbed his forearm instead. It was kind of high up to and I thought to myself, what the fuck was that? I could see on his eyes. He was like, huh? Also, what's Ants1's current setup? Thanks, boys. Stoked to see this year's Bunt Jam. i hope we see you at this year's bunch in but dude i don't even think that's very cringy is that cringy that's just one of those ones that you can easily overthink and like if if you're younger and maybe you want to get sponsored and it's just like one of those little unfortunate interactions that the shop owner probably immediately forgets but definitely stays burned in your mind for sure you have one that comes to mind the one that first comes to mind is definitely gotta run back my real story when the real team was staying across the street uh from my high school and then i me and my friend phil popped over they were getting in the van some of the guys were in the van and then tried to make a joke always stand from the top sun never from the bottom sun and uh you could hear a pin drop do they crickets um that one definitely stings to this day i'm just kidding but that was hella cringy at the time dude that it's one that's turned maybe from cringy for you for a bit to just like one of the best stories like i don't think there's anything cringe about that i think that's awesome um for me it would have to be it was at the flip demo markham skate park uh toronto legend Jimbo Jacks there in the building.

1:29:20I think we were teenagers still at this time. I don't really remember how old, but maybe like 17, 18. And for the first time, Jimbo passed me his joint to hit it. And I hit it. And I like pulled the filter out. Like the filter got stuck in my mouth and I pulled it out. Stuck there. Joint in my hand. I'm like, fuck. Go to give it to Jimbo. He takes it back. And he's like, I'm never fucking smoking with you again. one shot kill dude i got the hit we're out but anyone knows jimbo he's uh he can tends to overreact sometimes wasn't a huge problem but i guess he saw this so and definitely made me feel

1:30:05Davis Torgerson:like an idiot uh i love that man i missed that demo i was so bummed i don't remember what was going on but that was crazy that might be one of the best dude prime flip days man fucks yeah hey bro right now i'm rocking i got a little crooked got some indies spitfires reds you know the classics can't go wrong with this thing all right next up we've got an email from norby guerrero What makes you a diehard skater? Do you have to be good at it? Because I've been skating since I was 9. I'm almost 30 now. And I still suck. But I've never been able to stop thinking about it. And part 2. Also been listening to y 'all talk since I was 19.

1:30:57I'm 28 now. And y 'all still bunting on this video. When is the bunt video coming out? We got good answers for you, man. Yeah. I want to hit him with part one. I think part one, what makes a diehard skater, dude? I mean, what does this guy said? He's put in how many years, 20 years or something like that? Like, I'm no mathematician, but it seems pretty diehard to me. Yeah.

1:31:28Davis Torgerson:You said it in the email. We've said this before. Being a diehard skater has nothing to do with talent whatsoever. that last line I'm still thinking about it or I've never been able to stop thinking about it that's like a diehard skater to me right there I mean you have to skate too you can't just think about it but you've been skating for 21 years and you can't stop thinking about it you're a diehard skater the talent level means absolutely nothing and what was the second question I forgot already the bunt video bruv oh yeah we still don't know dude yeah you're gonna hit him with that i mean if do you follow us on instagram bunt video coming soon still we just finished a dallas trip with the boys um everyone clipped up except for the canadians but uh no videos in the works and it's coming this summer no ifs ands or buts bunt jam so if you weren't planning to be there world premiere at the Bunt Jam this summer.

1:32:35For better or for worse, man. Alright, next up, you're up, Safa. What am I doing? I'm tripping, dude.

1:32:44Davis Torgerson:Alright, next up, we got an email from White Boyardi. Is that a real name? White Boyardi. Does that sound like crazy? How y 'all feel about PSL changing the meaning of the term bunt right in your face after 10 years of the bunt podcast they're just gonna roll up and say nah a bunt means you did an easy trick instead of a hard trick hell nah who do they think they are uh i love this email that's a great email you know the one part about uh psl that confuses me is they're like they kind of name it after like sports things like quarters and bunt but then they call the three outs, obviously. They call them dots.

1:33:32I'm like, why don't we just stick to complete baseball terminology here? We have four innings, three outs. No, Shane in the building's calling them dots. He's like, two dots. He's like, they got one dot. I'm like, yo, we just need to lock down the terminology for season two. Y 'all can have bunt if you want it. Like, bunt was something before we changed the meaning of it, right? so I'll do what you'll want

1:34:01Davis Torgerson:yeah but so back to the email I think they're using the term bunt more in the baseball sense I think it has nothing to do with disrespecting the way we use the term in baseball when you're bunting you're just trying to get on base right and that's all it is they're bunting in the baseball sense to pass it on to the next person it's uh completely different and if you watch the finals you know we absolutely love psl so there's uh there's no hard feelings whatsoever god no i just want to be more involved all right next up we've got a voice note from waylon petromwell let's take a listen the bunt will always be the number one podcast in skateboarding but i just wanted to take a moment to shout out my three other favorite podcasts in the skate space beyond boards is phenomenal the blondie show was short-lived but the five episodes are really good and then say you swear by daniel soprano is really really good the best episode is with johnny wilson but my question is what is the criteria you guys would want us to meet in order to be a successful intern.

1:35:19Davis Torgerson:Are you guys seriously looking for one for the post office? Or was that just a joke? Have a good day, guys. Whew. We are seriously looking for one. I was going to let you answer that because you're the one who put that out there. So if Donald wants an intern, let's get it. Basically, Waylon, we would let you take over thebuntlive at gmail.com. You would filter the emails, give us the six or seven best of the week and and that's it man that's the internship and then i mean maybe the role could grow from there but that's the basis of what we need right now but i think we all what we also need is just if you're gonna filter them also just summarize basically the ones where there's homework required like a top five list or something get it to us don't need to read the whole email but we just need to be able to mentally prepare answers for certain emails because sometimes it's too hard on the fly to come up with like a top five skaters from these five cities stuff like that so if we're recording on Mondays it would be great if we got the emails the Friday before so our brains can work on this shit man but I think season 24 Waylon Petromoul might be the man behind the post office but then is he banned from the post office because he's in here every week he's officially choose choose wisely you've asked your last question and shout out those other skate podcasts man there's more and more coming these days shout out to all of them uh nicole's obviously is a banger we actually saw chris again and i swear every time me and him have been together which is obviously always in LA someone goes up and tells him that he's not the number one podcast in skateboarding and I personally love that shit man so let's keep that going uh yeah it was great to see Chris at PSL and but huge shout out to them of course but huge shout out to be on boards to um the homie over there he's nothing but love and mutual respect and I gotta check out the third one the third one you mentioned i haven't um checked out yet but thanks for putting it on the map for us uh am i up next yep okay next up we got an email from hortensio her soy yo hey guys it's been a while thanks for this amazing season so far first of all i'm not a rundown guy but Venezuela won the baseball the the world baseball classic and I'm happy I don't know if you talk baseball but I wanted to ask you if you paid any attention to the classic I just want to send my first sport email to you also I'm a big fan of this is important podcast and everything the workaholics guys do so finding out safe it was on the cruise really blew my mind it was the same level of the Simpsons family guy crossover for me if you ever make a cruise I'll be there no matter what.

1:38:32Davis Torgerson:Cheers, Hortensio. Fire. I definitely kept up with the World Baseball Classic. Everybody thought it was going to be like a Japan-US champion. So seeing Venezuela come through and beat the US in the finals, absolutely epic. Bryce Harper thought he had his moment, and that was stolen from him, which was great. But the US beat Canada in yet another sporting event, which was awful um yeah i mean baseball is big it's huge here right now the jays are back in action starting the season three you know uh we might actually be baseball fans now dude yeah i i didn't know how i was gonna feel this year but watching uh the dodgers season opener with fucking jake anderson jesse alba and co i had ptsd seeing yamamoto out there so I think I'm going to tap in a little more and definitely lock in for the playoffs, assuming we make it.

1:39:36That's a long way from now.

1:39:39Davis Torgerson:Speaking of the Workaholics crew, though, I'm still in LA. Donald just got home, but we were turning up with our boy Blake the other night. The crossover continues. You get me. What a guy. Shout out, Blake. Absolute legend, man. I thought I was going home. that did not happen yeah all right next up we have an email from t baby sup buck gang not sure if this is allowed but i want to respond to chris or whatever dude's name was that asked about psl and kind of throwing shade at it because it's merging skating with mainstream culture psl doesn't stop anyone from keeping it counterculture just because kings of Leon or Nickelback are huge.

1:40:27Doesn't stop underground bands from keeping it freaky. It's a big world with room for all of it. That's exactly what we said. There's room for everyone, man. Yeah.

1:40:41Davis Torgerson:So, I appreciate that, Gare. But then the follow-up, this is not the same person. We got another email, so kind of in the same vein. Next up, We got an email from Sebastian Sand. Yo guys, love the pod and what you're doing for the skate community. Just want to refer back to a previous post office question about PSL. I'm also a big sports guy and really enjoyed the format. However, I don't think the answer, if you don't like it, don't watch, is totally valid. Of course, the skate world is big and there's a niche for everyone. Still, you want to influence the community in a way that you would like to see it progress.

1:41:19Davis Torgerson:Therefore, I think it's important to express and discuss what's good and what's not in the skate world Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but actually expressing it is equally important The similarity to older guys telling younger kids what's cool and what's not is obvious to me. What are your thoughts? Sorry for the lengthy email of the pod piece. That's a perfect line. No need to apologize this um i just think this is making us talk in circles i think we're all kind of saying the same thing um i don't i still think that if you don't like something um of course you're free to express yourself but me personally if i don't like something i'm just not gonna watch it i'm not i'm not gonna be the person that watched something i don't like to then go talk shit on the internet essentially

1:42:12i'm not addressing this any further my stance is extremely clear like after being there this past weekend like i am i love that shit the energy in that building was insane um could have easily been me and say for the two of the loudest in there but there was people screaming at the top of their lungs jumping out of their seats the energy was immaculate the skating was at top tier levels literally like there are people there that were there for the first time invested people beside me didn't even know what these tricks are invested like it was epic man and for a sports and skate fan like that is almost as close to a perfect mix as you can get so yeah i'm all in on it i love every avenue of skating pretty much like but if there was one that i didn't like yeah like there's more than enough skating for everyone yeah i think we're all kind of saying the same

1:43:17Davis Torgerson:thing but uh i just still stand by if you don't like something and it's actually bothering you then no one's forcing you to watch it um i don't know what you're really arguing i just feel like we're going in circles but uh you said you like skint and skating so yeah we used to always say like yo you know we would get some haters here on the pod so like no one forces you to listen but yo keep listening man and keep watching psl if you hate it because it just creates this talk uh and you're still watching man so keep watching keep hating keep doing your thing yeah alright we got one more let's end on a fun note yo word around town is that Lee Yanku now works as a porn star by the name of Lee Spanku any truth to this from what I've heard it's true that's all I can say you got word around town I heard it too confirmed factual Lee Yanku the goat Lee Spank you getting him on the pod next season you dig?

1:44:30that's why he got his like retired from pro skating officially in his last board just came out recently because full time career switch congrats to Lee that's going to wrap up the post office for this week y 'all know where to find us thebuntliveatgmail.com your emails might be running through Waylon Petromwell next season man let's see what happens

1:45:00Welcome back to the rundown, the skateboard world source for sports. Ghosts, we are back. The NBA playoff race is heating up, and the Raptors just unleashed an absolute ass-whooping on the Orlando Magic and set an NBA record 31-0 run. This is all fine and dandy. Will the Raptors get out of the first round?

1:45:24Davis Torgerson:Right now, they're in the fifth seed. I think we both want to see the same thing happen. Our Raptors versus your Knicks. I think it would just elevate everyone on the Raptors. We know how the media works. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Right now, that's what we want. We want the Knicks. That would be huge. But right now, it's the Cavaliers. The 4-5. We need to get up there, man. or drop down no yeah or drop down or they drop down and we stay in the fifth i just think toronto calves will be one of those series that no one's really paying attention to expecting the calves to beat us you know in four five six max um but if it's the knicks even if it's not a competitive series it just elevates the rafters just because of the media frenzy that comes with the knicks it would just be fun as hell having Stephen A.

1:46:24Davis Torgerson:Smith you know coming for us on the daily if we win a couple games you know I'm saying yeah so that's what we're hoping for but I also told you I'm highly invested in the Bill Simmons Kendrick Perkins beef where Bill was basically saying that like the coverage of the draft was a joke because Kendrick said the Raptors are going to be a top succeed they've been a top succeed all year long they dropped out for a couple days and bill simmons immediately tweeted the the rankings with the top six uh saying like he doesn't see the raptors petty um so i i really want kendrick and the raps to shut bill simmons who i love his podcast but uh i can't wait to see and we're looking good right now man the hawks went on a heater uh we actually saw them beat the mavs when we were in dallas and they they climbed up from like the 10th spotters they were like nine or something and flew up there on a 10 or 11 game winning streak we got to hold them at bay yeah nothing's for sure there's eight games left for us seven for the hawks eight for eight for the 76ers and it's a half game ahead of the hawks and one game ahead of the 76ers so the work's not done um let's go ahead and finish in the top six man that'd be a huge win for pretty much a rebuilding team like you can't uh you can't complain about that the one thing that's scaring me the most is philly because they just got paul george back uh last two games from 25 game suspension and bead just came back dropped 35 in his first game back and tyrese maxi also just came back from being out with i think a finger or something for a couple weeks so that's a big they just won yeah they just won two straight and they're pretty much back at full strength so wraps wraps it's in their hands obviously if they went out they're locked in but we'll see what happens moving over to the nfl a couple massive names popped up on the trade block first being devante adams of the los angeles rams had a like pretty much comeback season ever since going to the rams been revitalized playing opposite puka they got stafford their perennial super bowl contender um is there any point in him leaving like what who gains from him leaving i really don't know i think he's in the perfect role opposite puka he became like it wasn't big yardage games anymore like huge red zone threat i think he had the most or tied for the most touchdowns for a receiver this year like he's locked and loaded i i think he needs to stay with the rams yeah and the other name i mean obviously uh max crosby's still out there hopefully this uh he ends up somewhere else he doesn't waste away another year but talking about wasting away miles garrett you know he had the chance to leave in free agency but as we know money talks the browns did their thing gave them pretty much every penny they had and uh the browns still stink it's time for garrett to go play on a contender is there any team that needs him more than our buffalo bills what the did you just say our bro um i met me and carlito yeah uh bro i kind of it's it sucks for the cleveland fans won't be happy with this but it's what pro athletes especially in the nba do these days is they they prioritize the money and then they pout and get out of town so you get the biggest contract you can you know maybe play another year and then you're like hey i want out instead of just leaving in free agency um he want he wanted his cake and to eat it too personally i'd love to see him go somewhere else just because he's such a beast and it does kind of suck seeing one of the best players in the entire league just have no chance every single season.

1:50:36That broke the single season sack record on the worst team in the world. Aside from the Jets maybe. I'd like to see him land pretty much anywhere. Two wide receivers on the block. Brandon Iyuk, Brian Thomas Jr. Who would you prefer?

1:50:54Davis Torgerson:I gotta go. I drafted BTJ and he was a huge bust. But I would still take him because I just I've read a lot of stuff about Ayuk like not taking the rehab seriously might need like another surgery might be done but now he's like looking like he's not done I don't know there's too much I hate to say it like the mental health side looking a little you know so I'm going with BTJ and hoping he can re-find his rookie form health is wealth for you there I mean yeah hard to argue with that alright we were in attendance PSL finals night sold out crowd at Paul's house 35 ,000 or something in attendance the semifinals you know they did their thing the soldiers ended up losing to the Wolverines the tropics ended up losing to SHS what was your one takeaway and only one from each semifinal match that led to the winners coming out on top i would say with the tropics well okay for both matches but going first we've been noticing the trend going first is huge advantage and overall i think going the the combination of going first and shs is like really structured approach to these matches uh i think is what got them the w and then do you want to yeah what do you think about that one yeah i think that obviously shs and p rod took it absolutely uh clinical approach to these things p rod took over the gm role he had a plan set in place i think the tropics just kind of went in winging it you know hoping that their talent would come out on top um defense his defense wasn't there this week And Jamie was just a little bit off, which you don't rarely see.

1:52:59He seemed frustrated. And that was like a true conveyor belt of SHS. Just did not stop coming at you one after the other. And then for the other one, Soldiers and Tropics, we saw maybe the best one half of an inning we've ever seen. I think they dropped 18 tricks. and we know what Christian Jordan and Roman Hager are about. But with Chris Joslin not there, the X factor of Trevor McClung just put them over the top. I mean, that was just... The soldiers kept it close. They made it close, but they just gave up way too much to start. And that's what did it for me.

1:53:41Davis Torgerson:Yeah, I think all season long, the soldiers' downfall was not their talent, but the mismanagement of their approach. many weeks i was like y 'all need to learn how to bunt first of all you can't lose so many outs or dots whatever in the fourth on evan martinez trying shit that like is not consistent enough happened again but the biggest the biggest fuck up was unfortunately a mental slip where someone should have let art know pop shove was abd because that gave them an out and then they they were coming back but it was just too much pressure with only two outs left to come all the way back i think they were down like i can't remember 12 8 or some shit but yeah um i think the coaching side of of that match was what did them they were coming back which was the scary part but like art didn't skate in multiple innings this is potentially the mvp of the whole thing How is he not featured in every inning?

1:54:47It should have been him and Nijia for three innings straight, and then you do Mickey for three, and then Yvonne gets one maybe. This is the finals.

1:54:59Davis Torgerson:Yeah, for the semis, I'm just riding the three, and if Yvonne or Sinner specialize in a certain trick where they need them, I'd sub them in, but I would just ride those three the whole damn time. but one thing we also got to mention though i think the tropics killed it in the regular season but the shodware man i i hate to say it that's our boy but that was uh a big letdown for the tropics man he could have handled a lot of that and unfortunately didn't skate he was there but uh i think that was you never know what's going on maybe there's an injury something something nagging bother which i hope is the case but you're right like they could have had a miles silvas paired in there and art cordova like they didn't have a first round pick because they went co-captain and i think that was ultimately their downfall then we go on the finals chris josselin wins the coin toss chooses to go second we've been stating for weeks on end on this very show you have to go first with the clean slate you can land the most tricks out of any inning in the top of the first inning it's imperative that you go first he chooses to go second i don't want to say that's the sole reason but it definitely didn't help yeah i'll agree that was like so head scratching especially coming off if i'm not mistaken in week five they went first and put up 11 points in the first they were up 11 to zero and i think it was against the tropics i remember correctly uh absolute beat down and then they follow that up by going 10-0 in the finals by going first in the first i'll yeah that will never make sense to me and the worst part was i think what uh they did a nollie back 180 shs started with a nollie back one and then your boy Jordan slipped out like immediately.

1:57:12I don't know what was going on but this is headphone gate.

1:57:19Wait the fake homie who didn't come. What up? What up gang? Sleeping beauty in the building. Sorry I went on a bender with beer run.

1:57:32Davis Torgerson:Yeah I'm going to just link with Malto.

1:57:37Davis Torgerson:sure i would love that actually thanks broski

1:57:44um yeah i we we got to talk about headphone gate first time all season we see christian jordan skating with no headphones i'm in the crowd screaming somebody get this guy's goddamn headphones i think cost himself two points because he wasn't locked in but uh he skated great Roman Hager skated great. The Wolverines played great. But there's nothing you can do when you got a kid like Julian Agliardi willing to die for his team, landing literally everything. He put on a defensive clinic. And then, you know, John one of one. What a talent. What a goddamn talent, man.

1:58:24Davis Torgerson:He started out as your boy, but I think he's my boy now. Shut the hell up, dude. No. It ain't like that. You adopted Christian Jordan, man. I like that. I'm taking John one of one as my guy these days. But yeah, like you said, going second, huge. But then also Julian Aguilarity putting it all on the line multiple times. I think the building was electric that entire fourth and pretty much all day. But we knew when he almost did the late front shove from board to regular. and he slipped out with his body going to fakie you're like yo he could do this and so when he did it to fakie i was kind of bummed i'm like yo that's it's not whack but i was like yo it's kind of lame to do the same time twice desperate times for sure and i said it right i'm like yo if he lands this the building is about to explode and i you know me and donald were screaming at each other rooting for the opposite teams yeah that was fun and uh yeah that was that by far the most uh the crowd went buck because i think most people had never seen that trick period but to see a kid figure it out on the fly that was fucking insane yeah yeah uh truly special performance p rod in his house winning the first ever psl it just makes sense you know it truly just makes sense that uh paul's house the absolute legend he is saving PSL potentially in a time of crisis.

1:59:58Paul gets the first ring. Congrats to him. I hope they raise a banner in there for him, man.

2:00:03Davis Torgerson:Oh, they have to. They have to. Yeah, but I just want to say Mike Mo, Ira, Vince, everyone behind the scenes, Davis, Malto, Clint Peterson, you guys did a hell of a job all season. So happy that me and Donald were able to be a small part of it, continued success and can't wait for next year boys and girls yeah can't wait for the draft man already that's how you know it was great when you're everyone at the after party hanging out talking about the next season already uh you guys nailed it congrats on all the success all right go so that's gonna wrap up the episode for this week we're getting down to the nitty gritty of the season man only a few left y 'all know where to find us next week Good night.
