A lot of that is dependent upon how you were raised, what happens during your early years, and then ultimately decide what happens what things are important to you. and hopefully you will put some effort behind it. Most people that achieve extraordinary things are laser-focused and don't have a lot of distractions. Does that lead to a balanced life? No, it does not, despite what some people will say to you. But if you look at Olympic athletes, the amount of sacrifice that they have in other areas to train for that metal is incredible. If you look at people like Steve Jobs, who I think commented that commitment at Apple begins with 100 hours a week, people like Elon Musk, etc., etc., they tend to put a lot of hours into what they are working on and what's important to them.
1:12A lot of times that doesn't feel like a chore. They really enjoy what they're doing. So it's not surprising that they might spend. So how do you get to that point? The first point, and you don't have to work 100 hours a week. You need to decide what the success is, what level of success, how you want your life to be, how you want to craft that life, and then work appropriately to provide the income, provide the time to be able to do those things. So super success is not for everyone, and understand that. But in order to do that, the first thing is sit down, write your obituary the way it is now and the way you would like it to be.
2:00If those two are the same, great. If not, what are the things you would like to say in your obituary that you're not able to say based on what you're doing now? So take the time to go and do that. That's a sobering experience for a lot of people. Then take those things that are in that obituary and the goals that you have and write your affirmations. And you can look at how to write affirmations in my courses. You can get it from my YouTube channel. I'll just put in affirmations, and I think you'll see three or four posts. And then make sure that you write those, that they mean something to you, and then that you read them out loud at least twice a day.
2:44Then take those affirmations and drill them down to, what is it that I want to do this year? What is it that I want to do this quarter? What is it that I want to do this month? Ultimately, what is it that I want to do this day? and if you use something like the Ivy Lee method where you write down each night the things that will move the needle the most for the following day and you use a planner or some function and it can be a simple piece of paper if that's what you want to use. I use the Franklin planner and have for years. You put down what you want to do. Now a simple example of that, I ended up going to the grocery store with my wife yesterday and there was something that I needed to get.
3:31Typically I would have put that in my planner for whatever reason I did not put it in my planner and so went to the store she had a list she knows what she wants to get we she knows what aisle stuff is in she's a little funny that way and so we go and get all the things that she wanted and I get home and then this morning I wake up and said, oh, I didn't get that. So I've got to go back and get that. Now, if I had written down in the Ivy Lee method or planner, which I use, to get those yesterday, and I had done that in time so that I could do that to get them, that would have been a different situation.
4:13So things like planners, things like the Ivy Lee method, that when coupled with your goals and affirmations, give you the ability to forget to have to do that task by remembering it. You can just look at, okay, here's what I'm going to do today. And if you do that, if you follow that process, and if those things are important to you that you're working on, you are going to be a lot closer to achieving your goals. and if you enjoy what you're doing, your work ethic is going to be pretty good because you put by day, by time, by task what it is you want to accomplish. So I'd encourage you to think about that.
4:55In today's world, especially with social media, those people are incredibly talented at taking your attention and providing a distraction that points you to them. You will find that if you can limit those things, that you'll have more time. When most people create a time log, just do it for a day. I got up at this time, I did this, I did this, and list the task and the time. And then look back at that list in terms of how many things you did. Wow, I can't believe I was on social media for two hours or whatever it is. And you'll almost always find out that you have much more time than you thought you had to do things.
5:39So I hope that's helpful in terms of being helpful. If you know the steps in this business acquisition, great.
