0:00Hi, I'm Bruce Whipple, and today I want to talk about something that really can transform your productivity and results faster than almost anything else. And what that is is a simple time log. So here's what I mean by that. From the moment you wake up until the time you go to bed, write down everything you do. Be honest with yourself. Note the time you got up, when you worked out, when you ate breakfast, showered, got dressed, sent emails, made calls, watched TV, watched YouTube, scrolled down Facebook, social media, all of those things. Maybe you took a nap. Maybe you worked on a presentation.

0:43And along the way, maybe you sent some letters or made some calls. But just do that for one day. And what you'll discover might surprise you. You'll see exactly whose priorities you're working on. Are they yours or are they someone else's? You'll also see the distractions that get in your day. So this is especially true if you have a day job. In that case, your employer's priority naturally takes precedence over certain hours. After all, they're paying you for time, right? That's part of the deal. But what about before work, after work, or on weekends? Those are the hours where you have the freedom and the responsibility, I'd argue, to work on your own future.

1:29If you're fortunate enough not to have a day job, then the spotlight is squarely on you. What most people find when they do a time log is that they actually have far more time than they realize. They just weren't using it wisely. They realize things like, I didn't know I spent this much time on social media. I didn't realize I lost an hour here or there doing something else. I spent three hours overanalyzing something that should have taken 10 minutes. A time log shines a light on those hidden patterns. It shows you where you're wasting time, where you're effective, where you're ineffective, and how to refocus on what truly matters.

2:13So here's my challenge to you this week. Do a one-day time log, just one day, from the moment you get up until you go to bed. Record everything. Be diligent. At the end of the they review it. You'll see your priorities and your distractions in black and white. Once you see that truth, you really can't unsee it. And from there, you can start building discipline around what actually moves you forward. If you'd like to learn the steps in business acquisition that I learned from my mentor, Dan Pena, more than 30 years ago, geez, go to brucewhipple.com and take a look at the Acquisition Advantage Bootcamp.

2:53It's the best step-by-step program that I've created to help you follow the proven process and get results. Bootcamp members also attend a monthly live call, group call with me last Wednesday of the month where we answer questions and you stay current with what's working right now. So take the time to do that time log challenge. It might just be a wake-up call and the one you need to make your time and your life your own. I hope that helps. Again, take a look at BruceWhipple.com. But a time log can absolutely have you shake your head and say, Wow, I didn't realize I spent my time like that. And I didn't realize how much spare time I actually had.
