In short

Ross Anderson discusses personal growth and leadership through reflection, self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-discipline. He argues corporate execs often miss alternatives and better ways to work, and that up-leveling standards requires accountability, a “pause,” and finding a tribe. He shares tools like mental training, music to shift psychological state, and simple stress relief via walking. He’s “sauna guy” (not ice baths) and aims to break records by organizing collective meditation.

0:00Ross Anderson:Ross Anderson, are you ready for your fast and the curious? Yes, bring it on. What's the one thing that makes a better man? Being reflective. The more reflective you are, the more effective you are. Guilty pleasure TV show of choice? Hold Me Thousand Horses. Oh! Monge 2. My husband's the same, he's on all the time. I could watch it over and over and over. What's the strongest tool for growth, self-compassion or self-discipline? Self-awareness. Oh, you have to be different. What's the most common mental block you see in corporate execs? Not knowing there's a better way to do it and an alternative way to do it.

0:35You don't have to run yourself into the ground. You don't have to do it alone. There's people out there like you. Find your tribe and find someone to hold you accountable to because accountability is huge for up-leveling your standards. We all need a perspective shift from time to time, which is why it's important to have a pause. A pause is a transformative experience.

0:53Ross Anderson:Have you got someone that keeps you accountable? Yeah, loads of people. Kick me up the arse. Ice baths, a necessity or a fad? Each to their own, somewhere in the middle Do you do them? I can't handle them I tried way before they were popular I don't know if it's because I'm skinny or whatever but they just make me incredibly hungry and I can't get warm You just can't have them Remember when you're in Scotland it's freezing anyway so you have to then crank up the heating So I'm a big sauna guy, not into ice baths What's one behaviour you'd love everyone to adopt? It's not necessarily a behaviour as it is an awareness of the power of mental training and making that more of a practice in their life.

1:34Ross Anderson:If your life was made into a movie title, who would you want to play you? I don't know, Tom Hardy. I don't know why. You just watched Mobland? That's why I said that, because he's a great actor. And I like him. And he does Brazilian jiu-jitsu. And he seems like a really down-to-earth guy. And I've loved Mobland. So that was the first person. I'd go and see the movie. dream travel destination for personal growth? My aspiration in three years is to acquire 2 ,500 acres of land and turn it into the Disneyland of human flourishing. So that is my dream travel destination. That sounds amazing. Can I reserve a space now, please?

2:11Ross Anderson:Thank you. What Guinness World Record would you like to break next? There are two. Underwater breath hold. How long can you swim underwater on one breath, unassisted, without fins? But the big one, which is not about me, it's not a personal journey it's collective as I would love to get a thousand people meditating for one hour to experience what it's like to sit down in stillness absolute stillness engaging no voluntary movements for one whole hour and see how agitated they are and use that as a barometer to move forward from your current go-to Spotify track or podcast so for me I couldn't pick one song or one track but music is a state shifter right so if you're looking to shift your psychological state from a disempowering state to an empowering state or disempowering to neutral music is key I mean Phil Collins calling in the air was the opening track to my Burpee World Record so it always makes me feel something you feel it yeah it's amazing the emotion what's your one secret weapon when stress hits at work?

3:14Simple. Walk. Nice.

3:17Ross Anderson:Just walk. What's the one morning ritual to prime your mindset? Take care of your AMs and your PMs and the rest of the day it will take care of itself. What's a surprising fact about you? I used to be a topless butler and a stripper. Did you? Yeah. For how long? For about two years. I love that. 26 to 28. I would never have said that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing yeah but um always like a surprise answer i love that what are you most proud of in your journey knowing that all the work that i've put in the change in my life and moving from point a to point b that distance traveled and only benefits me it benefits a lot of other people very obvious ways when i'm speaking on stage but in also immeasurable ways there's a lot of downstream positive effects what did you want to be when you were a child my mom said that I wanted to be a scientist.

4:08I was really into science.

4:09Ross Anderson:Cats or dogs? Dogs. Easy. What advice would you give to dads with a young daughter? Be the change you want to see in the world. And I'll finish on. Who is your hero? That is an emotional question. My eyes almost got a bit teary there. There's a lot of people that I'm grateful for, but there's some people that have had a substantial effect in my life, and I would say my grandmother, my mother, and Faye, my other half. Thank you so much. That is your fast and the curious. Yeah. Well done.
