In short
The episode argues that “wokeness” (including feminism, welfare, contraception, and “woke eugenics”) is driving genetic and cultural decline by reducing fertility among “intelligent” people and increasing it among “less intelligent” people, ultimately risking civilization collapse.
Guests
Ed (described as an honorary professor) and Bill Simmons (host). Ed is presented as an author of Woke Eugenics and as a researcher relying on twin/adoption studies, longitudinal IQ/childbearing data, and ancient-genome/ancient-skeleton analyses.
Key claims
Intelligence is said to be ~80% genetic and to correlate with socioeconomic status. The relationship between intelligence and fertility is claimed to have turned negative since ~1900, with declines of about 1.5 IQ points per decade. The Industrial Revolution is framed as ending Darwinian selection via falling child mortality, allowing “mutant genes” and “mutational load” to accumulate. The “woke” culture is portrayed as pushing maladaptive behaviors (e.g., abortion/“abort your children,” transsexuality, euthanasia for depression), supposedly by genetically conservative/religious people being more resistant.
Notable examples
Pre-Industrial “survival of the richest” (richer half having ~double completed fertility); Rome’s decline (Augustus tax on childless men; “doll” for lower classes); “rainer effect”/Gen Z percolation; “tipping point” around 20% conformity; references to Greece/Morocco IQ comparisons; autism and transgender claims as linked to mutational load and social incentives.

1:10When we were young, it was tuck your shirt in and don't swear, and now it's don't culturally appropriate your shirt and don't say the N-word. And you're being told this by some purple-haired teacher whose left arm is a lattice of cuts because she's mental. Liberal ideas come in, people become less ethnocentric, more open to women being men and men being women and whatever. Have you found many people take offence? Idiots take offence at empirical facts that they don't like. There is usually a narcissistic dimension to that because you're sexually aroused by yourself. They will do things like go in front of a mirror, tuck their penis between their legs to create a mangina and then, like, masturbate over themselves as a woman.
1:46People that are liberal are more sickly as children. They are higher in mental illness. You could argue that wokeness has been sent by Darwin to stop the destruction of European man. There's a degree to which they're kind of born traitors. How would you describe the word woke?
2:07Ed, thanks for coming on. Pleasure. Good to see you. Yeah, I want to talk to you. You're a professor, aren't you? I'm an honorary professor, yes, in various places. I want to talk to you about your latest book, Woke Eugenics. This is one of many things that we're going to go through, but you claim that less intelligent people are having more children and the more intelligent person or people are having less children. That is correct. What do you mean by that? Well, first of all, intelligence. So what is intelligence? Intelligence is essentially the ability to solve cognitive problems combined with how quickly you can solve them.
2:40So the more complex the problem is before you're stumped or the quicker you can solve the problem, then the more intelligent you are. It also relates to your ability to learn and things like that. That's intelligence. Intelligence based on twin studies, twin adoption studies, these things like this is in the region in adulthood about 80 % genetic. So we're dealing with the genetic issue. And it used to be the case, and intelligence correlates quite strongly, it's quite a good marker of socioeconomic status. So how intelligent you are correlates, for example, with your socioeconomic status at about 0.5.
3:11Now, what's been happening, for reasons we can look at if you wish, since about 1900, is there has been a negative relationship between how many children you have and intelligence. And so we know that intelligence is going down. We are becoming less intelligent. And if you look at the various markers of intelligence, things like reaction times, for example, which is how quickly you react to stimulus, this is a good marker of intelligence. And there's many, many, many others, even the presence of alleles, of genes in the population that are associated with intelligence. Then these are going down across time.
3:49So we are becoming less intelligent for genetic reasons. Stupider people, on average, stupider women in particular, on average have more children. And they don't just have more children, but they have children younger. So they have more generations. So we are losing in the region of about 1.5 IQ points per decade. So to put that in perspective, what we've realized is that the average IQ in about 1880, by modern standards was probably about 15 IQ points higher than it is today. So 15 IQ points is the difference between, let's say, a school science teacher, for example, and a professor of science.
4:28That's 15 IQ points. Or a school science teacher and the average person, a policeman or a fireman or a normal office worker, something like that. So yeah, we are becoming less intelligent across time with everything that indicates. We reached a peak of intelligence based on various proxies that we can use to understand what's going on. In about 1870, we were under harsh Darwinian selection before the Industrial Revolution. Child mortality was about 50%. And it seems that there was a process of – it's been called the survival of the richest. So on average, you can look at this in parish records.
5:04The richer 50 % of the population before the Industrial Revolution had about double the completed fertility of the poorer 50%. And what that means is that across time we were becoming more intelligent. There was a bootstrapping of the population where it was a society of social descent where every generation, the people at the bottom would just die out. And then the people one step up would move into their place. This is why we're all descended in England from Edward III. That process bears out. And so you can trace it across time with various proxies. You can look at things like literacy across time, numeracy across time, the average size of people's heads, because brain size is correlated at 0.3 with intelligence, and use of high order words in texts, representative corpuses of texts across time, and even genes from ancient genomes, which we can then trace across time.
5:57We can see we were going up and up and up and up under these harsh conditions, selecting for intelligence. Then the Industrial Revolution comes in. And with the Industrial Revolution, you have a massive change gradually in the nature of people. Child mortality was the big thing. It was the big – every generation, there are mutant genes. Every generation, mutant genes randomly come about. And these are purged via child mortality. And the brain is about 83 % of the genome. So if you've got mutant genes of the body, such that you're dying of tuberculosis or measles or whatever, then you've sure got mutant genes of the mind.
6:37And some of these are going to relate to becoming less intelligent. So then you have this collapse of child mortality from 50 % down to 1%. Eventually, there is no relationship between how many children you have and how intelligent you are. And by 1900, it goes into a negative relationship. So that's, yeah, that is certainly true. So a couple of things. I want to touch base on mutant genes as well. I've never heard that word used in that context before, and I'm sure it's bound to offend a few people, so I'm looking forward to that section. But you said less intelligent women are more inclined to be having more children now.
7:14So what research have you done to confirm that case? Well, it's not just me. There's a lot. You can look at huge longitudinal studies that administer all kinds of psychological tests to the samples. And you can say, well, look, this is the IQ of these people, and this is what it is, and then here they are at the age of 50. How many children do they have? And that's the kind of way that you can trace it across time. And there's many, many samples that have done that. Now, what seems to be causing it is a number of things. Firstly, what is intelligence? Intelligence is solving problems. How do you solve a problem?
7:53We were talking in the car about instincts, right, about male instincts and how we have an instinct to be drawn in by a certain kind of succubus-like woman, right? It's an instinct. And intelligence allows you to rise above instincts. There's so many examples of these maths problems where the instinctive response is this, and then, of course, the actual answer is something else. So it would make sense that people that were intelligent, that were good at solving problems, would be low in instinct. And therefore, for their basic instincts to come out, their desire to have children, for example, or their ethnocentrism or their religiosity, let's say these are all instincts.
8:33These are all cognitive biases that are built into us. They would have to be in their evolutionary match. And our evolutionary match is high child mortality. Our evolutionary match is death. Our evolutionary match is suffering. Our evolutionary match is struggle. And so when there was 50 % child mortality or 40%, something like that, before the Industrial Revolution, that's our evolutionary match. That's going to induce our instincts, our basic inbuilt desires, right, our hardware. If you take us out of that environment, you put us in an evolutionary mismatch, it's not going to induce those things to the same extent.
9:09And there's going to be individual differences in the extent to which you are environmentally sensitive, essentially, i.e. low in instinct, or not environmentally sensitive, i.e. high in it. So I think that's the first thing. Intelligent people are lower in instinct. They need to be in an evolutionary match, put them in an evolutionary mismatch, which we are now in, and they just sort of don't want to have children. They just don't want to have, they don't desire to have children. That instinct just doesn't come out. The second issue is probably the rise of contraception. There is a degree to which contraception is an intelligence test.
9:43Even something like, first of all, it's a test of of low impulse control, intelligence associated with impulse control, with future orientation, with the ability to regulate your emotions and not just act on impulse like an animal. So obviously, do you have the impulse control to use contraception at all, or do you just get at it? And secondly, if you do use it, do you use it correctly? So something like the pill, if a woman's on the pill, does she take the pill at exactly the same time every day, like she is supposed to, or does she knock it back with a glass of red wine when she remembers? And that is the difference between an accidental pregnancy and not, right?
10:18So the second thing is probably contraception. The third thing, I suspect, is feminism. So what feminism does is it basically encourages women, and women are probably more environmentally sensitive than men, to be honest, because they are higher in social anxiety and things like this, and they want to conform. And so it encourages women to be like men. You've got to get educated. You've got to go to university. You've got to get a career, right? And so what tends to happen is increasingly the more intelligent women spend all of their 20s and increasingly even the first half of their 30s concentrating on the university and on their career and things like this.
10:57And they maybe end up having, you know, one or two children at most, probably one child in their mid-30s, something like that, right? Whereas their contemporary at school, who drops out, who's low IQ, she drops out of school at 16 with no qualifications. She has a series of relationships with a series of unsuitable men and has children by them. She's becoming a grandmother by the time she's in her late 30s. So she doesn't just have more children. She has more generations. And then you get a related thing, which is that women are now, in England anyway, more educated than men. And women are evolved to sexually select for status.
11:32right because if you're in prehistory you're a woman you've got to come with a charge you've got something to lose from the the sexual encounter a man has nothing to lose he can just pump and dump but a woman's got something to lose so she wants a man with high status so he can sort of look after her and that sort of thing and also the fact that he has high status is indicative potentially that he has good genes which we passed on to the child so they tend to marry hypergamosly they tend to marry up uh to someone of higher status than them now if you put a situation in a situation where men are less educated than women then you're going to get all these highly educated women with no men to choose from because they're going to find these men that are less educated than them disgusting.
12:06And so then they're going to end up being cat ladies or lesbians or whatever. So, of course, then they resign from the gene pool. And then the third thing is probably welfare. You know, in this country at the moment, if you divide between those where both parents have got a job, let's say IQ of 100, those where one parent is on welfare, those where both parents are on welfare, and this is among whites, I mean, And those were both parents on welfare and there's intervention from the police and the social workers, things like that. Right. So the criminal underclass, let's say an IQ of 80, something like that.
12:37Only that group has above replacement fertility. So this is bringing. So these things together are genetically bringing down the IQ of the native population. And then other things make it even worse, because once you've got that at the genetic level, you're then going to be producing schools that are suboptimal, newspapers that are simpler, a whole culture that is less intellectually stimulating, a whole culture that doesn't push you to your phenotypic maximum intelligence. And so then at the environmental level, intelligence starts to go down as well. So when I was saying, oh, we're losing 1.5 IQ points per decade, that prediction was based on genetic data.
13:21Then you have the environmental factors. I mean, even things like using chat GPT and not thinking for yourself would push down potentially intelligence. 14:38Well, this would mean that in a country like the UK, even putting aside immigration, forget that. If it's just the white population, just the white population, they would have, if the IQ was set now at 100, which we set as the average, because IQ is a ratio measure. You do the test and you turn it into IQ and you have this bell curve and most people are at about 100 and then smaller and smaller percentages are lower than that or higher than that. It would mean that the average IQ was, if it's 100 now, it would be 85 by the end of the century. And 85 is the average IQ of somewhere like Greece or Morocco, somewhere like that.
15:15but remember that is in a context in which greece or morocco have far more intelligent countries that they're trading with and that they're reliant on to a certain degree so imagine then you have the further compounding problem that this 85 iq is one of the most intelligent countries in the world there's no one cleverer than them they can rely on so you can see how it would it would bring about the collapse of civilization um and this has happened before i mean this has happened with the Bronze Age collapse, it happened with the classical collapse. We, in fact, traced, we have a paper where we traced, using ancient genomes, the prevalence of alleles in Rome, Roman skeletons, across time and how intelligent they were.
15:56What we find is that, just like us, it goes up, it reaches a peak around the time of the Republic, and then it's quite developed. You've got things like plumbing, you've got things like it's peace, you know, there's no war, evolutionary mismatch, and then it's commented on at the time the upper class, higher class people even more intelligent people aren't having children and people in general aren't having children and Augustus tried to bring in a tax or brought in a tax on childless men childless aristocratic men or whatever and they paid the tax and so then eventually Rome starts to collapse and go backwards the quality of everything the quality of coins you can see it people are less intelligent and it goes backwards it gets invaded by outsiders or whatever, and it collapses.
16:40And this seems to be the process of civilization. Intelligence is selected for under harsh conditions. You build up the civilization. The civilization causes people that are more intelligent to not want to have children and brings other luxuries which allow those that are less intelligent to have more children and that kind of thing. Like, for example, you had the... In Rome, you had the doll that they gave out to the lower classes, and then it collapses. Do you have many females challenge you on this concept? Females specifically? Yeah, because you said it's predominantly females that are thicker females or more stupid.
17:13No, I said the correlation between intelligence and how many children you have is something like minus 0.2 among men. That's among women, sorry. But among men, it's like minus 0.1 because obviously men that are more intelligent don't have the menopause. and so they can have, even if they do delay having children, they can have them later. Or have you found many people take offence to what you say? Oh, idiots. Idiots take offence at empirical facts that they don't like and they engage in fact-value conflation and they say that, oh, you're a eugenicist or whatever because you're saying this. But I'm not a eugenicist.
17:47I think that we have no choice but to let this process play out and it will play out and it is playing out And it's almost an inevitable process that is built into it. So you have these cycles of civilization. And inevitably, you're under harsh Darwinian conditions. You are selecting for certain things, not just intelligence, but a certain kind of personality, a certain kind of pro-social personality as well. By the way, the other thing I forgot to mention is that if you reduce – another thing that's important to a functioning society is not just its average intelligence. There's loads of studies that find that the intelligence, the average IQ of a society predicts all manner of markers of civilization, you know, that it can have proper plumbing, that it can have a proper fire service, that it can have low corruption, that it can have law and order, that it can have peace, whatever.
18:35But another important factor is how intelligent is your smart fraction, i.e. the people that have an IQ of above 130, let's say, that are solving your problems, or people that have two standard deviations above the mean that are solving your problems. How intelligent are they? Now, if you reduce the IQ of a country by 15 points, i.e. what we've lost between the late Victorian era and now, you halve the number of people that have what we might call genius IQ. you halve the number of very clever people. And that itself then means that the problems aren't solved, things aren't dealt with and things degenerate.

You get one-on-one training, online courses and group seminars so you're never left on your own.
19:45If you're serious about building something new for yourself, message Ryan on Instagram at RyanJB. What did you mean by mutant genes? Well, when you have a child, you will inevitably just by random chance there will just be mutant genes that will come in and we all have a number of new ones, each generation. They build up each generation. Genes that make the body work less well. So we are evolved, let's say, as English people, to a very, very specific ecology. We are adapted to that ecology. We are adapted to cope with the pathogens and whatever that are in that ecology, with the temperature of that ecology, with the harshness of that ecology.
20:24That's what we're evolved to. And under harsh Darwinian conditions, with no medicine or whatever, then what inevitably happens, let's say the average woman has six children, and probably only two of them will make it to adulthood and have children themselves. And the other four will probably die. And they will die of measles, or they will die of tuberculosis, or they will have a weak immune system. They'll have mutant genes in their body, which will make their body work less well. And therefore, they will be more likely to succumb to disease. And therefore, they will be more likely or other problems.
20:54And then they die, they don't pass on their genes. And so every generation, the gene pool is purged via diseases and whatever else, is purged of genes which make you less healthy, and therefore the gene pool remains healthy across time, the genome remains healthy across time. If Darwinian conditions are taken away, then the gene pool degenerates. You become less genetically healthy, and therefore you become less physically healthy, and you become less mentally healthy. You become less adapted to your environment across time. I don't normally ask people about their children for obvious reasons because people that speak out, they get enemies pretty quickly and then loved ones get targeted.
21:37But with everything you've said so far, I've got to ask, how many children have you got? Two. Okay. And that is where you'd expect to be with your IQ? Probably it would be one, even. But really how many children I have is not relevant. I could have zero children. The point is the data. What is the data saying? And so it's not just intelligence, though. I mean, intelligence is what we've talked about so far, but it's not just intelligence. It's other things. There is basically a fitness factor. Everything intercorrelates because in genetics, if something is selected for, then it will end up being bundled together with other things that are selected for.
22:21And so it's called playotropy. And so what you have before the Industrial Revolution is 50 % child mortality. What are we selecting for? We're selecting for genetic physical health. We're selecting for genetic mental health. And these two things go together even now. We're selecting, it seems, for group orientation. Because we're not just under individual selection. We're part of groups. And those groups are fighting other groups for scarce resources. So this we would call group selection. and if you're high in positive and negative ethnocentrism, i.e. that you are inwardly loyal to your group, you cooperate with your group and you are hostile to out-groups, then there is good evidence from computers, models and so forth that that group is the group that is more likely to triumph.
23:04We are selecting, we were selecting for people that are pro-social as opposed to anti-social because obviously under harsh selection those that are anti-social are going to be killed by the band, they're going to be removed, it's going to subvert the band and cause them to be invaded and there's a degree to which we are selecting for religiosity, which, by the way, is up to about 70 % genetic. All these things are highly genetic in twin studies. And so what religiosity has, you have a little homunculus on your shoulder called God who tells you to be pro-social and he also tells you that everything will be okay and so you become more mentally stable and so on.
23:40And basically religion seems to essentially take that which is adaptive and make it into the will of God. So we're under selection for these traits. We also should remember that we are both, we are a pack animal, but we have to, in prehistory, reach the top of the pack. Because as I said, women sexually select for status. And so the men that were of higher status are more likely to get the women, particularly in polygamous mating systems, which is what we were in until really quite recently. So, for example, the Bushmen, only about 40 % of the Bushmen have children because the women sexually select for the top men and they have harems.
24:14and so we were selecting for you've got to get to the top of the group but also you have to be the group that is group selected and fights the other group so we have two sets of moral foundations we have the group oriented foundations which is sanctity i.e. you sanctify that which is good for the group you taboo that's bad for it which is in group loyalty to your ethnic group and which is obedient to traditional authority and then you have the individually oriented foundations of being of basically harm avoidance, which is selfish, because if you were against harm, you avoid harm to yourself, and of equality, because if you promote equality, then you get more.
Read the full transcript
24:52So it's good for the individual to promote equality and to promote harm avoidance. The genetic component of how we are all different in how high we are in these moral foundations, but the genetic component is about 50%. Now, what that means we were selecting for, which also goes together with the other things I listed, is essentially conservatism. Because conservatives are high in all five moral foundations. Whereas we care about torturing babies and things like that. We think that's appalling. We care about harm. But we also care about other things. Whereas the liberal, the left-wing person, is high in the individually oriented foundations and low in the group oriented foundations.
25:35So he's individually oriented. he's selfish. And also the evidence indicates that these liberals are mentally ill, essentially, which I'll go to in a minute. So you've got these fibromyal foundations. And so what you would expect then, you've got this fitness factor that was under selection. And what you would expect is that when the selection collapses, and there is a massive buildup of mutation, then what you would get is a movement away from that fitness factor, a movement away from what we were selecting strongly for. And you would expect those that evidence that movement away to be high in mutational load.
26:15You would expect them basically to be mentally and physically ill. And so what you find in the data is this is exactly the case. So on average, people that are irreligious are more likely to be mentally ill than those that are religious, and they have worse physical health as well, and they're less likely to get over cancer. On average, people that are liberal are more sickly as children. They are higher in, physically sickly I mean, they are higher in mental illness. The grip strength, the physical strength of liberal men is lower than that of conservative men. Conservative women have objectively more symmetrical faces than liberal women.
26:57They are rated as more beautiful than liberal women. Of course, the face is a marker. like I was telling you earlier about the peacock's tail. The face is an honesty signal of genetic quality. If you've got good genes, then you will be able to produce a symmetrical, i.e. a beautiful phenotype. And liberal men are shorter than conservative men. And obviously, if you are of good health, then on average, you will be able to grow taller. And women sexually select for height. And of course, women also sexually select for intelligence, which is why there's actually a weak genetic correlation between height and intelligence in men.
27:32but not in women. There was a study, the hands of liberals are less symmetrical than the hands of conservatives. Liberals are more likely to be left-handed. Being left-handed is a sign of an asymmetrical brain, i.e. the brain is partly a sign of that, of developmental instability, something has gone wrong in development. And there's many, many other examples I could give you. So on average, as is predicted, these people are less genetically healthy. Another thing that you get is they're high in mental illness. And because they're high in mental illness, they're high in things like depression and anxiety.
28:08They fear a fair fight. And so how do you play for status if you fear a fair fight? You're like a woman. Women fear a fair fight because they need to stay alive to look after the child and they're physically weak. And so they don't play for status overtly. You play for status covertly by virtue signaling. So that's what you do. You're individually oriented because you're high mutational loads, so you're not what we were selecting for. You want power. By the way, liberals are also higher in narcissism than conservatives and higher in Machiavellianism. But you want power. So how can you get it? Well, then you play for it covertly.
28:49And this is, of course, what liberals do. They play for it covertly via virtue signaling and whatever. Now, eventually what would happen if this carries on, this more and more, the culture would hold this back. What does the conservative culture that we were experienced, we were both born in 1980, we had teachers at infant school that were born in the 20s, right? And our grandparents fought in the war and whatever. They were the conservative society. And we were brought up at the fag end of that society. And what that did was the culture pushed you along an adaptive roadmap of life. People like our grandparents were still saying men should be men, women should be women, you know, get yourself a job, get yourself a trade lad, you know, and get yourself a nice girl and get married and have children and fight in a war if you have to and, you know, be pro-social and think about others for yourself and all this kind of stuff.
29:40And so there's a degree to which that would hold back, the culture would hold back this build-up of mutation that's going on, which is away from being group-oriented and is toward being individually oriented and obsessed with yourself and obsessed with what you want and just generally you're deviating from what we were under harsh selection for. But eventually, the percentage of the population that were high mutational low would reach a tipping point. And there's studies that indicate that that tipping point is 20%. So you can have a study where you give people a series of, I don't know, lines on a bit of paper and it's clear which one's longer.
30:13It's clear which one's longer. It's that one. And everyone agrees it's that one. And then you plant in the group someone that says, no, it's that one. And what about, it's that one, it's shorter, that's the longest one. And once about 20 % of people start saying, it's that one, everyone moves over very quickly, because everybody wants to be on the winning team. And so then it changes, then you have a shift in the nature of society, probably in about 1963, towards being individually oriented, towards the, and then you have runaway individualism, runaway virtue signaling about equality and harm avoidance.
30:52And eventually we get to the point where, you know, transsexuality and this idea that you can define yourself and that even truth has to be subject to feelings and how people feel and equality and harm avoidance and all that. You get runaway. And part of that, of course, is intelligence is actually associated with conformity. People that are intelligent are able to look around the world, notice the dominant set of values, force themselves to imbibe those values, and then cleverly, competitively signal them. So that helps as well. So then we get a situation where we are now being pushed, and this gets to woke eugenics, Liam, the maladaptive roadmap of life.
31:34They've now taken over the culture, and they're saying, feel guilty for being white. Abort your children. Feel bad for being a man. It's okay to be gay. Mutilate yourself and be transsexual. It's okay to be fat. Do you feel depressed? Don't try and deal with it. Euthanise yourself. All of this stuff, you're being inculcated with a maladaptive roadmap of life to just kill you, to destroy you, to take you out of the gene pool. And that's woke eugenics. Because who's going to be resistant to that? Who's in that culture that's telling you to do all of these damaging, unnatural things. Who's going to be resistant?
32:13It's going to be those that are genetically, and remember these things are about 60 % to 70 % genetic, genetically religious and genetically conservative. They will be those who are resistant. So, for example, you know Graham Hancock?
33:34Yes. This idea that there was an ancient high civilization and it collapsed because we were hit by a meteorite. Yes. Right. So this happens every so often. The Earth is hit by a meteorite or something like that. And I've got a book coming out on this next year. And civilization collapses. And right. Now, that happens every so often. Now, if that happened and we're genetically really unhealthy, as we are, if we go on like this with the situation, because as the intelligence correlates with genetic health, intelligence correlates with genetic health. So as the intelligence resign from the gene pool, we become more and more and more gently unhealthy until we're completely devasinated.
34:09We're so unhealthy, we're completely reliant on technology to live. And then a meteorite hits. Now, what that would mean is that everybody would die. Nobody would be able to survive. The only survivors would be the people living on Centennial Island or whatever, the Andaman Islands, the people that were completely off the grid of civilization. They'd be the only healthy people that could survive. So something has to hit in to stop that. Something has to stop that process of us becoming so unhealthy. And what that is, is woke eugenics. Because once a certain percentage of the population are that genetically unhealthy, they are able to take over the culture and push the whole culture to be even more, to just do maladaptive things, to destroy themselves.
34:54That's basically what they want to do. They have a death wish. These people, I told you earlier that they're unhealthy. The liberal is genetically unhealthy. They are the people that are reliant on hospitals. They are the people that are reliant on medicine, absolutely reliant on it, can't survive without it. And yet they are the same people that is promoting a culture, feminism, you know, welfarism, whatever, that is bringing down the very thing upon which they are reliant. It is bringing down civilization. And so they are unconsciously killing themselves off, which brings down civilization in the process.
35:28That's why you should fear it. If you like your comfortable way of life with your podcast studios and your computers and whatever, that's why you should fear this process. But what this process does is it means that those who survive it are genetically healthy. And then we just do it all over again. Because that seems to be how it works. One thing that's very important here is that though intelligence is in decline, for sure, we're all becoming less intelligent. We're all becoming less intelligent. liberals white i mean among white people are becoming less intelligent more quickly i call it the rainer effect the left are becoming stupider quickly so if you control for intelligence if you just look at those that you are above a certain iq the big predictor of fertility is conservatism and religiosity highly heritable traits remember and the big predictor of sterility is that you are liberal and that you are an atheist.
36:26Now, what this means, because remember, it's the elite that control things. It's the elite that control the culture, is that there is hope. Because it should mean that eventually, perhaps in Generation Z or Generation Alpha, the people that are intelligent will be becoming, for genetic reasons, the intelligent people will be more conservative, more ethnocentric, basically have more based kind of views for genetic reasons alone. And possibly partly for environmental reasons, because let's not forget there's a subsection of the group that's going to rebel against what they're told. Right. When we were young, we were told it was the it was the Christian conservative types that were in charge.
37:07You know, tuck your shirt in and and, you know, don't swear and whatever. Right. And now it's don't culturally appropriate your shirt and don't say the N word. And you're being told this by some purple haired teacher whose left arm is a lattice of cuts because she's mental. So obviously you're going to rebel against that. So that's the cool thing. That's the new thing to rebel against. Right. That's the new edgy Daria kind of atheism. so um you're going to get what this would imply is that there would be in the coming generations of percolation upwards into positions of power of sort of nick fuentes types of of essentially based young people and i suspect what will happen what will happen is that the society will break up this is what always happens in the winter of civilization if you read this book it's called the fate of empires by john glove it's fascinating he compares uh ancient greece ancient rome ancient Baghdad and us.
38:03It's the same every single time what you see. Intelligent people don't have children, population collapses, but also mutant associated liberal ideas come in, people become less ethnocentric, they become more open to women being men and men being women and whatever. You have the rise of homosexuality, the rise of something like feminism, the rise of something like transsexuality. It's the same every single time. The same process occurs. It's just that with us, it's very pronounced because we've gone very far because we were able to have a full industrial revolution, which the other societies weren't.
38:38So what I think will happen is you'll get the breakup of society. You'll get these mutants, these woke mutant types. Things will break apart. I call it a neo-Byzantium. Rome didn't completely collapse, not completely. it retreated into Byzantium, it was now Turkey, where Rome kind of held out in a much reduced form for a while. And what I think is likely to happen as the elite among whites become based is that a lot of white people that are genetically deracinated or left wing or whatever, either won't have children or they will become part of the non-white group. And indeed, that's one of the things that woke eugenics promotes, of course, is people having children with people of different races.
39:26And on average, it's people that are on average less intelligent and less sort of group oriented that seem to do that. More fast life history strategists, as it were. So they are out. You have a separate, you know, foreign area. The real liberal people, they just die off. They don't have children. They don't pass on their genes. They're not there. And then I would suspect that the more conservative, intelligent conservative people would go to these, what I call, neo-bisans, these areas where civilization holds out. And you're going to get some intelligent-based, you know, black people or Asian people that will white align, that will go with the broader white group.
40:03I look at this in a book, I did a different book, Voke Eugenics, called The Past as a Future Country, The Coming Conservative Demographic Revolution, where we look at the maths of that. So that's what seems to be happening. And so you could argue that the wokeness has been sent by Darwin to stop the destruction of European man. And that actually, we should be very grateful to these, we should say, if we meet some crazy blue, you know, purple haired, purple haired borderline, we should say, look, can I take, love, love, can I take you for a drink? I really appreciate what you're doing for the English people.
40:36And she'll say, no, I don't take drinks from racists. That's brilliant. I I really believe you. I really believe that you think that rather than, in fact, you are a patriot that is deliberately doing everything you can to help the European man to survive. Come on, please, come for a drink, love. Come on, come on. I really want to say thank you. That's perhaps what we should do. We should accelerate the situation. We should accelerate it. And then imagine you get her to the pub and you sit her down and you say, you know, would you like some pork scratchings? I don't eat meat. Of course you don't.
41:01Of course you don't. Would you like some peanuts? I'm allergic to nuts. Of course you are. Of course you are. but I really want to thank you for what you're doing I love you and I always will and she'll say look I have to go and I'll play you please don't go at least not yet we need you she's doing a good thing we might call them an altruistic mutant so yeah that's the general idea you mentioned you mentioned the rise of several things I believe autism is on the rise is that linked to the genetic decline partly it's maladaptive it means you're basically less we talk about what we were selected for as being pro-social And should parents be worried about the rise of autism?
41:39Well, there's two things to say. If we talk about group selection, which I mentioned earlier, then one strategy of group selection is to produce a kind of genius cast that comes up with brilliant things. And I did studies on this where I found that you don't really have that. So a country like Finland, actually, where I live, and to an even greater extent Japan and China, although they have a higher average IQ than we do, they don't have as much per capita major innovation. They don't have as much genius, really important things that they innovate as we do. Why? Well, I've done a number of studies on this, and it seems that the reason is they are lower in alleles that are associated with basically curiousness, psychopathy, things like this.
42:23They're lower in those. Now, what is the genius? The genius is basically, if it's a scientific genius, he has outlier high intelligence combined with moderately antisocial personality. Remember, intelligent people are conformists. But if you're a bit antisocial, then first of all, you're prepared. You've got low impulse control. You've got low conscientiousness, no rule following. So you'll think outside the box. So you'll be able to think the unthinkable. If you're low in agreeableness, new ideas always offend against vested interests. But you either won't care about this, you might even quite like offending idiots, or you will be a bit autistic and you won't realise that you will offend people.
43:00So you'll go for it anyway. And as for autism, autistic people, they tend to be obsessive. They tend to take in more information than other people do. They're more sensitive. They tend to be very focused on structure and order and wanting to make sense of things because they regard the world as difficult to cope with. And so what you would think is that you're going to get basically autism in the population in a small amount, combined with high intelligence, could be a good thing and could actually be associated with health because that's the genius type. And we've got a situation where through group selection, we've selected to have a small, optimally small number of these highly intelligent, autistic, antisocial type people that come up with brilliant ideas.
43:43As a rule in general in the population, then yes, it would probably be associated with other health problems and with elevated mutational load and things like that, yes. And so that's probably why over the last century, we've started seeing more and more cases of this. But what was relevant there is much more the low-functioning autism. As for high-functioning autism or what used to be called Asperger's. Yes, there's a rise in it consistent with changes in the genetics, but the rise in it is the big rise in it that we're seeing. That's a social issue. That's related to the rise in the obsession with equality and harm avoidance.
44:18And once you have that, then first of all, because you're obsessed with harm avoidance, you want to give this person that's a bit unusual, the diagnosis of autism, because it will help them, even though you really shouldn't. They don't fit with the criteria properly. So you get this expansion of what constitutes autism into these basically people that they're not autistic. They've just got a few social problems or whatever. They're within the normal range in a way. But you narrow the normal range so they can get help. So that reflects this obsession with equality and harm avoidance. Secondly, then, once we're in this situation where we're obsessed with equality and harm avoidance and it becomes good to be weird.
45:01It becomes, you have a kind of grievance hierarchy in which you get more status in a society that says you should do everything you can for the outcast, for the different. That's the most important thing. Rather than worship the aristocracy and the accomplished, you should worship the unaccomplished and you should try and see it from their point of view in order to showcase how empathetic and lovely you are. Then you get this grievance hierarchy and it's in people's interests to some extent to have that diagnosis and to almost lie about having it or for parents and doctors to mutually come up with a way of ensuring that you have it.
45:39And so I think it's a social issue that is a big part of why there's a spike in it, consistent with the fact the spike in it is very large among women. And women are, of course, high in social conformity. Women are highly socially anxious. Women are higher in mental instability. And I think that a lot of these women that are going around saying that they have autism, they don't have autism at all. They're borderlines. And if you're a borderline, then you are attention seeking. If you are, it crosses over with vulnerable narcissism. If you are a vulnerable narcissist, then you see yourself as a victim and you're like the biggest victim.
46:16And if you're a bit narcissistic, which is an element of borderline because they're low in agreeableness and low in conscientiousness, then you see yourself as a victim. You're deservant of help. You matter. You're a bit different and a bit special. And so you can see how it's actually really women like that that go around self-diagnosing as autistic. Have you seen an increase in personality disorders since the vaccine was rolled out? Is there any link between people's behaviour? Personality disorders are firstly significantly genetic, are at least sort of 50 % or something like that genetic. So it's nothing to do with vaccines.
46:54If the vaccines are interfering with gene expression, then these personality disorders only start to manifest, really, when you're a teenager or even a bit older than that. And so we wouldn't know yet. If you're suggesting that the vaccines would somehow alter the personality of a person that was within the normal range into personality disorder territory, then no, I'm not aware of any evidence of that, no. Okay, what about the transgender movement? What something like that is doing, it's wokeogenics, isn't it? It's people that have personality disorders, often things like narcissism and things like that, or people that are very high in autism.
47:33Autism is associated with taking in more information and therefore with being high in testosterone and therefore with developing sexual fetishes. And so they develop this sexual fetish. in the case of the men, where they are sexually aroused by the idea of themselves as a woman. There is usually a narcissistic dimension to that, because you're sexually aroused by yourself, essentially, right? And often when they start off the process, they will do things like go in front of a mirror, tuck their penis between their legs to create a mangina, and then like masturbate over themselves as a woman, right?
48:12So it's a highly narcissistic thing. So I would expect these people would, because of the pleiotropy I mentioned earlier, would be elevated in mutational load. These people then render themselves infertile by becoming overtly women. And so then they remove themselves from the gene pool. So that's a eugenic thing. That's what I mean by woke eugenics. Woke eugenics is removing mutant genes from the gene pool. As for the women that do things like that, again, what is it associated with having, there was a study on this by a guy called J. Michael Bailey. And he showed that the women that engage in this have borderline personality disorder, a lot of them.
48:53So that's that you have an unstable sense of self. You know, you're not sure who you are. You have problems with temper. You have self-harm. You could argue it's a massive example of self-harm to cut your breasts off and make yourself become a man. And various other components of this condition. And so then they basically sterilize themselves. And so they remove themselves from the gene pool. So surely that's a eugenic thing. You wrote a paper saying woke people have worse mental health and it got retracted. Is that right? Yes, it was retracted because... Was that political censorship? Yes, it was, openly so, because there was no problem with any of the data.
49:30What they had a problem was we submitted to peer review, the Scandinavian Journal of Psychology. The peer reviewers told us in the discussion to expand on the theoretical reasons for our findings, which we were very cautious about because it's a normie journal, right? So I wasn't going to start talking about like dysgenics and stuff like that, a normie journal. I thought it would get desk rejected. So I didn't. It was sent out for peer review. The peer reviewers asked us to start discussing this kind of stuff in the discussion section. So we did. And then it was published. And then, oh, my God, all these left-wing people were offended.
50:06And so then, oh, there was a mistake of peer review. And then it was withdrawn. Just to touch base on wokeness, like the woke individual. So I've seen a lot of celebrities over the past five, six years since woke become trendy saying that they're proud to be woke because they're kind and considerate. Now, how would you describe the word woke? Well, the word woke comes from this African-American idea of being awake to injustice. But so it's that you are very, very concerned about injustice. And specifically, it's cultural Marxism. So it's not injustice of white people who are poor being poor. It's what they see as injustice in terms of identities, so that people that are homosexual or people that are black or whatever have less resources than people that are white or people that are straight and have less power than people that are white or people that are straight, and they want them to have the same amount of power or more power.
51:01That's the essence of their argument. The argument is take those whom you see, it's postmodernism, Take those whom you see as marginalized and empower them. And that creates justice based around the assumption that it's a good thing that we are all equal and that we should be forced to be equal. But the problem is that there are differences between groups, between identity groups in terms of intelligence, in terms of personality, in terms of all kinds of things. And so you're never actually going to get that. In a fair society, you wouldn't actually, a meritocracy, you would not get equality along those lines.
51:34But that's what they want. They assume that everyone's equal. They assume that everyone's equal. Everyone must be equal. They must be. Otherwise, it's offensive. And that being the case, then we must ensure equality for these groups. That's what they're saying. As for the idea that they're kind people, that is refuted by the data. There are studies indicating that people that are left-wing are, on average, lower in agreeableness than people that are right-wing, lower in conscientiousness, i.e. that's – agreeableness is like altruism and empathy. The conscientiousness is impulse control and things like politeness.
52:06It's impulse control and rule following. And they are higher. An antisocial person, basically, is low in agreeableness, low in conscientiousness, and mentally unstable. That's an antisocial person. And a prosocial person is the opposite. On average, these are small differences, but on average, right-wing people tend to be higher in prosocial traits and left-wing people tend to be lower in prosocial traits. So it's a complete lie. I'm motivated by kindness. That's rubbish. In fact, there was a study of people, forget the name of the study, which found that people that were concerned with injustice and whatever, and it found what were their motivations.
52:42And only about 5 % of them were genuinely concerned with, you know, helping people and kindness. The others, their motivations were just things like resentment. That was the key motivation to these people. Only a small percentage. I'm sure there are some people who are so high in empathy, so overwhelmed by empathy, are genuinely kind people, that they are drawn into wokeness because they are so empathetic for black people or whatever. But the majority, they are palpably not motivated by that. They're motivated by resentment. They're motivated by a desire for power. They are motivated by anything but kindness.
53:23And the thing which we noted is that there is a difference in the moral circle of conservatives v. liberals. So conservatives tend to, they're the centre, and you like your family best, and then you like your kin more than your family, and you like your, I don't know, social class more than your kin, and you like your ethnic group more than your social class, and you like another ethnic group more than your own, and you like your species more than another species, and whatever, like in general, like that, a series of concentric circles. That's not how it works with leftists. They like a more distant group more than their own.
54:00Now, why? Because what that means is that if you are, and the leftists are on average high in narcissism, so they deal with all their negative feelings by telling themselves that they're morally superior to everybody else, and then they get narcissistic supply to granite our conversation a little bit. And they are high in Machiavellianism, i.e. they want power because they feel they should have power, and they see the world as a frightening and scary place, and so they want power over it. And so how can you do that if you are mentally unstable and fear a fair fight? One way you can do it is by collaborating with the outsider, collaborating with the foreigner, collaborating with someone of another social class.
54:40And so these people, that's the way that an individually oriented person would do it. And so therefore they empathise more with a different group than their own and then create a coalition via which they can take over their own group. So there's a degree to which they're kind of born traitors. And you see this again and again and again. If you look at the people that were, for example, in Finland where I live, the people that were in charge of the Finnish awakening movement, i.e. the movement where, because it was a Swedish-speaking aristocracy, Finnish peasantry, and the people that engage in this kind of, that promote this kind of peasant culture and promote Finnishness and Finnish nationalism were upper-class Swedish-speaking Finns that then collaborate with the Finns to get power over their own people, i.e.
55:23the aristocratic Swedes that are running the country. And you see this again and again and again in all of these nationalist movements in Europe. It's always the Estonian nationalism, the Estonian people, Germans, German high class people that decide to act in this way. And so this idea of upper class people that empathize with the working class like Tony Benn or whatever, that purport to like the working class more than their own class, collaborate with the working class to get power over other upper class people. Now, before I was doing my research on you, I'd heard of the Quakers, but I never knew what the Quakers actually were. Just a word in my head that I'd heard and never investigated. And you say that the Quakers are a force behind woke culture. So who are the Quakers? What are the Quakers? And what's their position in regards to woke culture?
57:12I don't know about force behind woke culture, but they are, the reason that it came up was because one of the things that happens if you consort on the right is that you will eventually meet people that will say, it's the Jew! It's the Jew, Ed! Why don't you mention the Jew? In your hour-long interview with Liam, you haven't mentioned the Jew. Why haven't you mentioned the Jew? Are you scared? And this got me and my colleague thinking, well, hang on a minute. You can have your Jewish conspiracy theory, fine, but there are some positive things that Jews have contributed, Nobel Prizes, inventions, literature, whatever.
57:47The Quakers are this extreme Protestant sect, which was founded in the 17th century by a guy called George Fox, and they're extremely pro-equality and extremely pro-harm avoidance. And it's all about purity signaling, their simplicity, and all this sort of thing. And they were in many ways woke before woke. Their idea is that you become a Quaker if you experience the inner light. Now, what does that mean? Well, that means that God is in you. Now, that fits quite neatly, I think, with the notion of transsexuality, that you can define who you are, that you are God. I am that I am. If you're transsexual and you can define who you are, why?
58:36If you can define who you are, we are just glints. There's no such thing as truth. There's no such thing as objective reality. And we are just glints of divine light. that define who we are. And that is Quaker theology, that we are these glints of divine light. We have the inner light. God shines through us. And throughout their history, whatever left-wing cause you can think of, there's always Quakers behind it. Whereas with Jews, it's much more complicated. You get some Jews that are on the right and will fight in the army and that will innovate interesting things and whatever. There's very little in terms of the Quakers.
59:16What have they actually done for us, the Quakers? Chocolate, Calvary's chocolate. Banking, same with the Jews. How does banking work? You have to have a tight-knit group of people you can trust. Many, many banks, Quaker banks, Barclays Bank, for example, Gurney's Bank, and Bagpuss, and a few actors, and Sir Arthur Eddington, the scientist, he was very left-wing. So it's basically just left-wing subversion. So if you're going to have a go at some group, and by the way, it was Quaker pressure, a Quaker influence on Cromwell that persuaded him to bring Jews back into England in the first place, by the way.
59:55So if you're going to have a go, it's the Quakers that are, it was a bit of a sort of tongue-in-cheek thing, but there is a strong, if you actually look into it, the Quaker Charities Fund Hope Not Hate, for example, Do Jews find a home plate? Yes, but so do Quakers. Quakers, for all these different charities you can see, it's Quakers behind them. So it's the Quaker question, the QQ. That's the real question. And a lot of people are scared to ask the QQ. So after everything you studied, final question, is it too late for the West? Yes. We will be like Alfred the Great. We will retreat into the Somerset marches and we will dress as a minstrel and go into the Viking camp and we will burn the cakes and whatever.
1:00:42We're going to go the same way as South Africa. We're going to Balkanize. We're going to break up. Law and Order will break down. There will be parallel societies. We're already seeing the beginnings of parallel societies. What is these things that have developed like podcasts, people like me and you getting to know each other? We wouldn't have gotten to know each other 20 years ago. It was a much more united society. We are polarized and we are breaking up and we're seeing the beginnings of it now with a parallel culture, a parallel media ecosystem, a parallel this, that and the other. And eventually, law and order will break down and the woke forces that run the country won't be able to control things.
1:01:21And nature abhors a vacuum and you'll get protection rackets. and it'll be a bit like a prison, you know, where the guards are too lazy and stupid to really control things and they allow the prisoners to basically get on with it and run themselves but interfere occasionally, right? It'll be done like that and society will gradually break up into separate little groups and I think England will retreat and then the process will just happen all over again. Well, that was a fast-paced hour. Where can my audience find you? will attach all the links. And what are your latest? Because you've wrote 28 books?
1:02:00Yeah, I think so. My YouTube is The Jolly Heretic, where I put videos on the based science I can't, you know, and all kinds of stuff, all kinds of interesting stuff. And I live stream on Mondays at 7pm. And then my sub stack, you can support what I do for the cost of about a pint of beer a month. And I put all the most based stuff I can't put on YouTube, in-person interviews, vlogs, blogs, films I make, where I go to interesting places that might be the new, near Byzantiums. I've got one on Moldova coming out quite soon, for example. In person, there's very interesting people. And wherever you like, you know, that's my sub stack.
1:02:33And then my books are all available on Amazon. This one was Woke Eugenics, How Social Justice and Mark Social Darwin, as we were talking about. I've got a book coming out in August called Borderline Genius, Borderline Insane, which is about women with borderline personality disorder and the influence they've had over culture and how all the greatest women seem to have borderline personality disorder. and it looks in detail at borderline personality and how to be careful with these women and whatever. And I've got a book coming out next year on ancient high civilizations. But anyway, I've got a book on how people born highly prematurely are overrepresented among geniuses called Sent Before Their Time.
1:03:08Various books. So, yeah, they're all on Amazon. There you go. I will put Ed's links in the description. Give him a follow. Check his work out. Look out for his books and his up-and-coming one, which I think I'm going to invite him back on to dissect. Like and subscribe to the channel, please, so I can keep having fascinating characters like Ed come on because I'd imagine the mainstream aren't too keen on platforming. Not amazingly. You, no. No, not the milquetoast pretend-based right, only the real-based right. So, yeah, subscribe to this channel so we can get Ed back. And until the next time, that was fascinating.
1:03:41Thank you. Pleasure. Bye-bye. Cheers.

In this explosive interview, evolutionary psychologist and author Dr. Edward Dutton breaks down his controversial book Woke Eugenics.
He explains why intelligence is plummeting across the West (losing ~1.5 IQ points per decade), why less intelligent people are having far more children, and how modern society has created a massive evolutionary mismatch that is genetically degrading humanity.
