In short
The episode of Fighting Cock podcast is about Tottenham’s frustration over the Morgan Gibbs-White transfer saga and who fans should blame. Hosts David Alfie Ward and James Regal react to Nottingham Forest’s “glorious leader” Daniel Maranakis-related video showing Gibbs-White seemingly under duress, plus Spurs’ claim that the release clause was met but Maranakis refused to sell.
Key claims
Levy did what he was supposed to do by bidding agreed terms (possibly no illegal tapping-up), while the delay is due to behind-the-scenes work and/or Gibbs-White not “fighting” the clause; Maranakis is portrayed as controlling and willing to use legal pressure to protect Forest.
Notable examples
comparisons to Rivaldo’s letter and Moutinho’s fax; “fat shaming” and AI images; analogies to relationship betrayal; discussion of wage-to-cash-flow headroom and needing 1–1.5 top-quality players.

1:08The next thing you know, you're in a cycling crew. Well, a community cycling group. The thing about Facebook, you might find more than what you're looking for. From a browse to a bike ride, this summer, find more on Facebook. It's the fighting. It's the fighting Cock It's the fighting It's the fighting Cock Come on, shut up! Hello and welcome back to another episode of the Fighting Cock podcast. I wasn't necessarily going to record today, but the sort of fallout from this Maranakis-Gibbs-White situation just was too juicy not to chat on really because reaction to it's been pretty insane from the Spurs fans, from football fans in general and just wanted to get what you boys thought of it.
2:05So joined by David Alfie Ward. How you doing, mate? I'm good. Thanks for having me. And we've got James Regal who only contacts me when he's got something to push. Hi, mate. You all right? Yeah, good. What is it? Let's get this out of the way. What is it? You're going to the fringe. Yeah, so tomorrow I'm flying off to Edinburgh for the whole of the Edinburgh Fringe. I'm taking two shows there for the first time. I've done one before. I'm doing my hour of stand-up, like as a work in progress, called People Pleaser. And I'm taking my speed dating comedy show there, which I've done a couple of times there, called Lolly Amorous.
2:42Oh yeah, that's right. You talked about this last time, didn't you? Has anyone actually pulled each other in on that yet? Have they, people go in? Yeah, in fact, funny enough, so we do it here every couple of weeks in Barcelona. and one of the guys who was on stage on Saturday night texted me yesterday to say that he went home with the girl he was on a date with on the show. So, you know, yeah, it works. Yeah, indeed. All right, so yeah, where can they find you in Edinburgh when they're up there? So my solo hour is at a room called The Snug at Bar 50 at 12 p.m. every day and Lolly Amorous is at Coco Boho on George Street at 7.45pm every single day apart from Mondays.
3:24There you go. So if you're looking for something, if you're up in Edinburgh and you're looking for something to watch and enjoy, then James has got you covered. Can we talk about Spurs now, James? Is that right? Is that what this is for? Sorry, I thought this was... Can I go now? Is that all right? That would be better, actually. I've got packing to do. All right. Okay. Dave, can we, if you've got something to plug, can we do it at the end of the show? Is that right? No, I plug my fucking life. That's it. I ain't got nothing. Hair plugs? You've got new hair plugs. I've got obviously hair plugs.
4:00Yeah, they're starting to come through now, aren't they? Look at that. Yeah, yeah. The camera doesn't do it justice as well. Like, I've got hair where I shouldn't have, well, I should have hair where I didn't have hair. Yeah, yeah. So I was out with Tony yesterday for the football and we were, and then we had afters at mine and he kept on just coming up and just pointing at my head just just yeah i know that you know are you feeling a little bit a little bit shaky this morning mate i'm i'm a mess i'm i'm not gonna lie yeah like i'm we shouldn't like we watched the game enjoyed the game and then had a couple more and then went back here and you know when i'm like just clearing up like 20 beer bottles and shit and you're like fucking mate that's the dream that's the dream you're living the dream what are you complaining about?
4:46Well, Tony's off school, isn't it? So like, yeah, he wrote me into being, he's a bad influence on me, you know? Yeah, he is, he's generally a bad influence. No, he's a good, he's a very good man, Tony D, friend of the show. And my friend, right, let's talk about this mental situation, or is it a mental situation? Has it been overblown somewhat, right? Because there's this longstanding saga that we've released, we've met his release clause and Marienakis just outright said, you haven't, this isn't, we're not going to let him go. and so you're just like well you're waiting then in that case aren't you so for a couple of things you're waiting to see if he budges you're waiting to see if perhaps spurs up the price on probably what you're waiting for is Gibbs White to take action against Forrest so that he can get out of his contract um so what then did you make James of the video yesterday released by Nottingham Forrest about their glorious leader, Maranakis, with what looked like a young Gibbs White under duress.
5:54What did you make of the video, James? Yeah, I mean, it's pretty wild. I think this whole saga is up there with Rivaldo writing a letter. It's up there with the fax machine not working for Moutinho. There's probably a couple more I'm forgetting. I think what I've learned the most from all of this is that fat shaming is still alive and well and it's totally okay to call people fat to make AI images of people being even fatter than they are and I think that's kind of a beautiful thing we've all learned from this saga actually we've moved past it but we haven't yeah no woke has not won you can still call someone fat if they don't let their player go to your football club um so that's awesome Dave what do you think about this whole situation uh who's i don't think anyone's to blame i saw some people blaming uh leaving i think a lot of people were just trying to push that agenda but you know it's it's a fucking mad situation one of my closest friends is a forest fan and like it just i couldn't get around like in my head as well when i the whole time i was like this will happen i know this will happen like i've never been so confident on a fucking transfer i was like this is gonna happen like it's just he organ gives white was playing both sides of the field as well it was it was a bit like you know we were the the prettier younger woman that he was having an affair with or flirting with and promising to leave his wife and then he doesn't you know and then he turns out oh you know actually we renewed our vows no what what you were gonna but you were gonna leave her for me because she's fat and ugly you know and we've got a training ground that's nice and uh you know and then and then he's like you know renewing his vows and it the whole video was fucking weird why are they pan into him as well you know like when they're kind of interviewing morgan gives white and then it kind of it's almost like a mockumentary office style just like pans to him and it's like what is going on i've never seen anything quite like it i've never so let's get this straight right what what has happened is not uncommon right a player looks like he's leaving and then um the the the player that has his the club that has his registration offers him a new contract better deals better terms probably an increase in the release clause although if you're Gibbs White what does that mean because it's been activated once and and uh and you're still at the football club so just that in itself right if you if you're if you've been tracking a player it looks like he's going to leave and then you see um Nottingham Forest on their official Twitter go we're delighted to confirm Gibbs White has signed an extension when we'll stay at the football club that is normal like Palace and Elise did that when he was rumored to go to Chelsea you know it's not it's not it's not uncommon for a player that looks like he's destined to leave a club to sign a new contract um but the video isn't that is that is weird and the language used in the video is is odd and and and and the way not and forest talk about marianakis like they're they're too like our owner marianakis it's almost like he's from north korea or something is this this kind of weird control that he has over everything and that's what i'm saying like you said you mentioned like then we've got some questions here and we'll tap into some of that but do you think Daniel Levy is blameless here because I'm not sure what else he could have done other than meet the release clause if that's that if that's what happened like there are a lot of people very angry that somehow this might be his fault James what do you think no I think he's obviously done what he was supposed to do I put a bid in agreed terms the player it sounded like he even had a medical right so he's not going to bid 10 million more just for the sake of it um i do feel like maybe we did do some illegal tapping up and that's why we haven't pursued it um but no i don't think i don't think you can blame levy for for this but i think maybe people are frustrated because it's like right well why haven't we now it's been two weeks you know the season's coming we still need to fill that position where's the other links where's the other rumors where's the other players that are potentially coming through the door.
10:04I think that's what I'm concerned about. If he wants to stay fighting, you know, I thought the whole thing with the Forest owner, I thought the whole thing was that he's saying he isn't really in control and that's why Palace can't get into Europe and all that kind of, that whole thing confused me a bit. But yeah, I don't think this is Levy's fault at all. I guess where some criticism would be like, this saga has gone on for so long, we should have potentially just pulled the plug and just started. And this may well have been happening, by the way. When we sign players, you don't tend to hear a great deal about them and then they just sort of get done.
10:44Kudu's was probably one of the longest running ones and eventually got done. But we've been signing players out of nowhere and there is work that kind of gets done behind the scenes. So that probably almost certainly is happening right now. But yeah, I mean, I'm critical of Daniel Levy for a lot of things and have definitely shifted towards Levy out. I think he needs to be removed from the football club at some stage in some form. But I can't see how you can blame him for this specific thing. Yeah, I agree. I don't. And I'm not his biggest fan either, but I saw a lot of people on social media on Saturday night after the news dropped.
11:21And I think because it hit us out of the blue as well, there was no in the nose saying, oh, Forrest are negotiating a new contract. It was just bang, announced. And that kind of, you know, hit us, you know, a bit of a sucker punch. And people want to vent, but yeah, he couldn't have done much more. It was a really nice kind of 24 hours though, wasn't it? That was it, like a Thursday when we had just signed Kudus and then we had a here we go for Morgan Gibbs-White. And then it was like the money was coming in and Adam Wharton's name was being... For like a little while, I was... This is what it must like to be with, like, support an ambitious club with money.
11:58we got a little taste you know it was it was nice it felt like oh my god it's happening for us now yeah yeah it was so short lived it was so short lived I mean I would say I wouldn't want it any other way but I definitely would want it any other way than just sort of bumbling along and it is frustrating at the moment isn't it because of you're just seeing the business that Liverpool and Arsenal and Chelsea and Man City are doing. And really, you look like if there's two clubs that are a complete clusterfuck, potentially, it would be Tottenham and Manchester United. I feel like with the appointment of Frank, and I know that we will do some more business that we'll be in a decent position, but it does kind of stink of some of the old transfer windows that we've had, where it just feels like we're not being proactive enough.
12:55We can't get the deals over the line and we're not going to be ready for the start of the season. That said, like the fact that we played two friendlies on one day the other day and both squads looked strong means that there was tons and tons of depth in that squad. Whether it's depth in quality, it's certainly depth in first team members. And I don't know, James, did you hear any of this stuff about the fact that we have to move players out in order to get players in? That's not to suggest that we don't have the money to buy players. It's just, we seem bloated at the moment. Yeah, I mean, there's the whole Champions League squad registration thing, right?
13:32And then there's probably a few salaries they might want to get off the books. But I don't know. I look at that squad and from like day to day, even hour to hour, I'm like, oh, that's pretty good, actually. If Thomas Frank gets hold of them. And then the next time I'm like, no, like these are the same shits that lost 22 times last season, regardless of the tactics. You know, it's like, I think, and you look at Liverpool's squad and you look at Chelsea's squad and City, obviously, and I'm just like, there's zero chart. We're so far away from that. And I think, I think we're relying on the manager being the difference maker here in the way that Poch was with a team that, you know, maybe was, had good players, but no one you would have thought when he joined with world stars and he turned them into world stars.
14:17I feel like that's what we're kind of betting on here unless we do between now and end of August bring in a couple of really big players but I just can't see us operating that way at the moment and I think it's not Levy's fault this situation but it's just another one in a long line I think everyone's just sick of it sick of the same old story and we want change at the top just to move the direction of the club into something new and fresh. Like, we won the trophy. That's a fresh start. People can't banter us about that for another few years. That's just, someone else come in with a bit of different energy and do something.
14:59It's just, it feels like we're reliving the same transfer window over and over and over again. And it's happening again this year. I did a podcast with a guy called Ansel Pang. It was an episode of The Lab. And it was quite a sobering one because I think there's a lot of sort of misunderstanding about Tottenham's finances. and I'm not going to go over them now because I won't be able to do it justice, but you can go and listen to that episode of The Lab. It's the latest one out there, but one of the interesting takeaways, he messaged me earlier that said that essentially we have 45 % wage to turnover ratio, but what's more important and gives you a better understanding of our spending power is wage to cash flow ratio, which we're about 71 % compared to Liverpool's 79%, Man United's 77%, which means we have the headroom to add between 1 and 1.5 top level quality players in terms of the amount of money we can afford at the moment to spend on wages without it becoming too costly or too expensive or more than we bring in.
16:10and um so it would you know when I asked the question about whether or not we have to sell players to buy in that situation I think that Son and I don't like to you know talk about him in this way but given what he's done to us is is essentially causing a bit of a blockage and if we remove his 200 ,000 pounds off the trance off the the wage bill it'll give us an opportunity to bring in two more but you think the amount of money we've spent already this summer you've got kudos 55 we spent 35 on i know it's not as binary as this but 35 on tell we've bought 25 on danzo and five pound on five pound five million on is it takai so how much more money is going to be available do we have to do we have to taper our expectations here again are we the only fan base in football that has so many discussions about economics and finance i feel like every other club just like i like that player like play like why can't i support something without needing a degree in in business like fab i listened to that podcast and god bless you it was very interesting but i couldn't stay so i was like what why do i have to care about cash flow and balance sheets like just buy my player yeah because that's the reality of of a running a football club that has financial restrictions.
17:36I don't care. I don't care either. I don't care either. But it is an interesting conversation. Go listen to everybody. It is an interesting conversation. But yeah, as fans, you just want to play us through the door. You know, why have we built this massive stadium? Why are we paying the money we're paying to go through and watch them? Why are we watching our rivals consistently strengthen them? We can't. And then I'm saying to you, because it's 71 % wages to cash flow ratio. And it's like, yeah, you're right. But it's one of them ones, really. I don't know. Before the season even kicks off, soccer fans are already making predictions.

This episode is brought to you by Facebook. So you were scrolling on Marketplace, and there it was, the bike you'd been searching for. You sent a message, and it turned out the seller was super chatty, kind of funny, and an avid cyclist. The next thing you know, you're in a cycling crew. Well, a community cycling group.
19:23The thing about Facebook, you might find more than what you're looking for. From a browse to a bike ride, this summer, find more on Facebook. just want just I mean it's getting to a point just like look what Chelsea have done look what they've done people say it's crazy Dave right people say when it came in it's a what do you call it a basket case football club he doesn't know anything about English football they've built a massive squad they're PSR compliant they're selling players for good money they look exceptionally well run at this stage again what James was saying it seems like every other club even Liverpool now they're getting and over a hundred and something million for, for a concert and, and DS.
20:09And it's like, when, you know, we don't ever ship fringe players, like for any kind of fucking substantial money like that. Is this something going wrong at the top? Again, we're talking about the fucking money and shit. Just that's why it was nice when we had that little window is like, Oh, we're getting this investment in and it's coming from Qatar or Saudi, wherever. And naming rights and this player. And, you know, We could dream about spending 100 million on Adam Morton. And it was just a fucking dream. It's never going to happen. But, you know, it would just be nice if once upon a time we did just show a bit of ambition.
20:45Because that squad isn't good enough. Yeah, we've got a lot of players. I was at Luton on Saturday. It was, you know, and again, fine. It's two friendlies in a day. And Frank's kind of working out. And it's about getting minutes in their legs. And I understand all that, right? It was the worst game of football I've ever seen. like worst game of football I've ever seen it was so boring and it's a pre-season friendly and the tempo is going to be off taking all that into account we didn't even have a fucking shot you know but yeah it's life we need to get more players and yes we can hope that Frank you know because I think for the last few years we've not had managers that really take a talent and blossom that you look at someone like Pap Sarr who when he broke into the first team we were really excited by it And I think perhaps Zara is a good player, but I don't think he's nearly hit the potential we thought he had or he potentially still has.
21:38And someone like that under Frank could push on and become a much better player. But we can't rely on the lines. The stars are lining like they did for Poch and with, you know, Ali and the centre backs and a world class goalkeeper and a fucking best player to ever play from us come out of the youth team. Like, that's not going to happen again. Like that's a once in a fucking lifetime thing. Do you reckon the mood would have been better on this podcast if Gibbs White had just signed for Spurs? Does that change everything? A hundred percent, yeah. I remember a couple of weeks ago, I had a beer with Dan Lowe because he lives really near me.
22:16And it was just when the Saturday after the link and we were waiting for all the bollocks. So we were like, we'll get him. And Dan said, it's the first player since maybe Van Der Vaart that he was genuinely really really excited about and I felt the same like it was like a ready fit Premier League proven player you know and Kudus is a great signing as well but like I was really excited about Morgan Gibbs White as this ready to go fucking plug and play immediately improves us so if we did sign then of course we'd all be we'd be buzzing because it's a so maybe maybe we are just a couple of signings for feeling much better about it like I think do you hear the rumours West Ham are ready to let go of Paqueta because he's been cleared.
23:00Do you like the sound of that, James? Maybe. I don't know. Good. Honestly, when we won the trophy, I was like, oh, I'm just going to relax this summer. It doesn't really matter what happens now. We had that moment that we've been waiting for, for most of us, for our entire Tottenham Supporting lives. And I'm trying really hard not to let any of this stuff get to me. but now it does like as that gets further away it just feels like we're kind of just creeping back into the same like rigmarole that we have every season right but we won a trophy and we should be happy about that it's just I guess it's annoying that the chairman hasn't taken that once again as a moment to make hay when the sun shines right he came out did that interview with the new CEO was like I want to win the Premier League and the Champions League no you don't mate you might want to it doesn't matter what you say it's what you do isn't it yeah i mean i've been saying for a while now like he keeps trying to he he's he wants us to be the real madrid of england he's he loves perez and all that but we should we should focus on being the severe let's just win win a bunch of domestic european trophies for a few years we could all have fun once in a while have a league tilt have some good players we're not going to be real madrid unless either he gets a little more money in or he fucks off and lets someone else have a go.
24:24Stop gaslighting us. Yeah. It does feel like that might need to happen. Although you've got a couple of questions here. Sean Boese says now that the Gibbs White saga is over who would you prefer we sign? If we signed Harvey Elliott and Eze, that would feel like a step in the right direction. The problem is we don't really have any confidence that that's going to happen. Apparently the Eze release clause means that a vast amount of it has to be played up front, which is an issue, as always. Yeah, again, Harvey Elliott, when I watched the under-21s, he's a good player and he's a bit of a twat. Yeah, he's said some terrible things in the past, didn't he?
25:09Yeah, but he's obviously a very good player. I think right now, in the wake of the Morgan Gibbs-White thing, to then get Harvey Elliott in after, say, the link and the romanticism that we thought we were going to get with Morgan Gibbs-White, feels like a downgrade. It feels like another Fazio. You wanted this shiny thing, but you can have something not quite as good. Eze is the kind of sign-in that would get everyone happy, but also really, again, instantly improve us. Again, but yeah, I mean, that just feels like hearsay and I don't want to start romanticising Eze and then he ends up with them locked down the road, you know?
25:54I can't imagine, I mean, they've spent so much money now. I can't imagine them adding 68 million. I mean, fuck knows. Again, you're doing that with a Tottenham hat on. You're doing that with a, oh, they've spent 68 million on a player so there's no more money. You're doing that with a Tottenham hat on because we're fucking corrupt. It's like a little parasite in our brain that's going, oh, wow. Corrupted. 21%. Yeah, we're corrupted. We are. We're like, we're just gaslit into, you know. Yeah, you know. Yeah. My ex-girlfriend used to make me sit down to pee. And then in my head, I was doing that, like, and she'd come in and I'd be sitting on the toilet.
26:32She'd be like, good boy. And I'd be like, yeah, I'm a good boy. Like, because I was fucked up, I was like gaslit and fucking abused, man. And I, you know. What, is that true? Yes, that's true. Yeah, I'm writing a whole show about it. Right, good. You're writing a show about it because I just laughed at it and now it's true. You can't just drop something like that in. No, no, no. James knows. Like, James, but like, yeah, yeah, it's all fucking true, man. You know, I'm not allowed to wear football shirts. But in the end, I remember one time we went out, we went out, I was wearing a football shirt and I apologised because I was like, I didn't realise we were going out to the supermarket and wearing a football shirt.
27:03She said, it's okay. It's okay. Like, you didn't know. And I was like, that's what it's like supporting Tottenham it's like you know he didn't know it's fine you don't know I look forward to seeing that show so Matthew says two things if we triggered GW's transfer clause why is it stalled? It's stalled because Giswight didn't fight it and was sacked so we can compete on all four fronts what is the minimum standard we can expect in all four? I guess, where might we finish? What would be a good season? Harvey Beebe says, for me, if the next season ends with us in the Europa League and we win the Carabao Cup, I'd consider that a decent season.
27:50What's your thoughts? I think, yeah. I mean, in a way, part of me thinks I'd almost rather finish in the Europa League spot than the Champions League spot because we could win it again. And that felt good. didn't it? Or is that just a cucky mentality that we should be striving for the best? But going back to James' point, James was saying being more severe and yeah, fair play. Right now, I think we have to taper our expectations and I think at best, we're competing with European spots with Palace and Newcastle and stuff like that. Maybe, I don't know what Newcastle are going to do, but it looks like they might lose Isaac as well.
28:35But we, we're sixth to ninth is probably, you know, without, I know that sounds a bit shit, but that's where we should be aiming and not should be aiming. And I mean, that's probably where we are, you know? Okay. Echoes of glory and all that, you know, aim for the top and echoes of glory and all that. But again, first season as well, we were really shit last season in the league. So we have to just kind of lower expectations, But I think now I'm hoping with the European trophy and knowing what it's like to win and having maybe a bit more of a hopefully a winner's mentality that domestic trophies are definitely on the cards.
29:15Carabao FA Cup. Why not? I don't think that's being unambitious. I don't think that's being unambitious and that's just that's being realistic and knowing what makes us happy. It's like, yeah, like we all want to win the Champions League. We want to win the league. It's like the same reason I swipe right on tens on Tinder, just in case one of them's having a bad day, but it doesn't mean I expect them to match with me. Do you know what I mean? It's like, let's just, if we get another Europa League, we get a domestic title, we'll love that. We'll eat that up. It's another trophy. It's not losing 22 times in a season.
29:49Surely that's anything, even half as good as that is going to be an improvement on last year. And I just hope we just see football that we can enjoy and get behind again. Because the last six to, well, even 12 months of Anjos football was just so boring. It was predictable. Pretty shit. You know the situation Gibbs White found himself in where he was, you know, he's essentially agreed to come to Spurs and then he's on in Portugal and Marienakis flies over. And you think, like, how old is Gibbs White? He's like 24, 25 years old? Something like that. you're coming up against a businessman who is ruthless and single minded and just imagine sitting there even with your agent it would have taken an incredible amount of strength and resolve for Gibbs White to say to him I want to leave and the reason why he signed the new contract isn't because he wants to stay at Narnan Forest he clearly wanted to leave, it's because he's been put under pressure by a marionakis and folded but you you might be thinking that i just wondered whether or not you you blame him for that like should he have been stronger should he like or is it that you know he's a he's a man with he's just got married he's got a young kid he just doesn't need the grief getting paid handsomely well for not in a forest like should he have fought a little bit do you think boys i don't i don't he's this you again you don't know the personal reasons but it i would hazard a guess that it was some kind of you know enhanced um release clause more money and maybe with a promise if like a champions league club come in for him next season you know one of those like we did with modric and all that when we didn't want him to go to chelsea yeah one more season uh i would presume it's something like that and he's looked at it he's just about to have a baby and he's like yeah fuck it i'll take the money now and who knows next someone who's going to come in for me and if I, you know, sometimes big fish small ponds as well, just some players like that, don't they?
32:00Do you think he gets booed when they play it? Yeah. Fuck him, yeah. Hopefully. I don't know. Just get into his head. Anyone who doesn't want to come to Spurs is the enemy, right? He's now the enemy. I think, I wonder if Marianakis will turn up because I've been chatting to a Nottingham Forest lad who is well connected in the club and I know I can't really say how I know because it's not it's it's like he'd be you know who he is and he'd get into trouble but he's well connected and he is his assumption that that not not all of the this is what the forest are peddling that not all of the conditions of the release call were met by Tottenham and there was a legal action for a sent an intention intent of legal action to Daniel Levy and an official complaint to the Premier League and it may have been that Daniel Levy didn't have the stomach to fight that or didn't want to get involved in that as well so I don't know whatever happens Marienakis as it stands gets his way you know it's the same thing with this palace thing and in um and forest you know the fact that forest are now playing in the europa league if the court of arbitration rules their way this week the fact that they'll be playing in the europa league without being there on merit just shows the lengths that marinekes will go to to further further his football club and to some degree i'd rate it like i know it's frustrating to spurs fans but he has the best interest of his club at heart and he operates in that way it's crazy and i don't think at last i think it's going to blow up at some stage but right now it looks he's a hero for the forest fans for sure i think levy should have uh gone full mafia and just just sent maranakis a picture of what used to be archway steel it's like remember the last company that refused to sell to me yeah that was a nice little company they had shame it burnt down and then like next day that just their ground's just fucking on fire.
34:10Haritichi there holding a can of gasoline in a match. I think that could have got the job done. Picking through the remains of his charred job. Yeah. He's just been stuck on a kebab skewer. Yeah, that sort of thing. Yeah. If Levy had done what Maranakis had done, like what he kind of did with Kane, right? He sort of forced him to stay when he was basically out the door and everyone was like, oh good you know good for you levy you know you you managed to keep him and i think we would have been heralding him as a bit of a hero if he'd stood up to say i don't know um tob boley or uh you know propel fitness water with gatorade electrolytes zero sugar and vitamins propel hydrates better than water to help you get the most out of your workout and get back to your best self what propels you propel with gatorade electrolytes this episode is brought to you by Facebook.

36:24Fuck them all, indeed. Question, Derek Flav, how do you feel when weirdos steal your bit about hotel fingering? likes i generally mute them immediately but i wasn't sure how you feel i don't feel any way really i kind of i i'm happy that other people are being fingered elsewhere i mean as enough as a 43 year old man it is something that i kind of do think about whether or not i should tweet stuff like that anymore like on a professional level i don't like you know if you kind of do go to talk sport for example and then they all look at me now and made this joke and i'm the middle-aged man i don't know mate yeah no it doesn't bother me it doesn't bother me it's funny it's weird imitation is the highest form of flattery yeah but but if they don't know it's me that said it then what's the point you know though yeah i don't the people that matter know you know people that matter know i don't know i don't know if that's enough really i might make it my image on twitter i had someone fully steal one of my jokes a couple of weeks ago and then did like a reel with making the joke oh did you then it was it was so specific that it was no way and he had been watching me at an open mic he's a guy that was visiting here from another city like i tried i did this joke two days later he put a reel up with like basically the exact same joke but done as a kind of like out and about rather at a show and i had to uh i'll do it again i'll do it again
38:00yeah it was something about me sitting down to take a wee uh and a woman that abused you yeah i didn't clock show when i was like what happened to you as well
38:15well Dennis Leary stole Bill Burr Bill Burr fuck what's his name Bill Hicks Bill Hicks stuff like word for word bar for bar it happens Trevor Noah allegedly let's put that in there although I don't think Trevor Noah is his but he's notorious for it really and he makes them better can't get away with it in this year they just don't care but he'll do it he'll do it with like when I was I did a tour of South Africa once and they're very much on the fence with him. Some people idolise him, some people hate him because he'd like, go on, do your bit and he's on stage before you knowing that you're going to go on like half an hour later and do the same bit and somebody said, confronted him and he went, yeah, but I'd do it better than you and just walked out.
38:58Terrible. That is terrible. It's like Maranakis being a better chairman and then, would you swap now, just quickly, because I need to end, this is a sort of short and sweet episode of the Fighting Court podcast. I've got to catch the train to London but would you swap Maranakis for Daniel Levy, boys? i didn't i mean it's like there's not really much of a fucking deal is it but would you would you be happy i think my gut says no i i don't know my i'm just gonna go with my gut because we ain't got time to think about it and i would say no my my gut would say no as well i don't think my gut everything about me would say no i say yes okay let me know that's the kind of energy I want in my football club no more balance sheets just buy things and worry about it later and hold your players hostage and uh and be fat okay I mean like you really doubled down on this fat thing I mean is it you've been waiting to be able to say this for a while or yeah he's very close friends with me of course he's been waiting to say it for a while no I'm saying it's a good thing that he's fat you know it's part of his whole character it's what makes him so threatening is his size.
40:04Levy turns up four foot three, little bald head. Don't want to listen to that. Nothing scary about that at all, is there? Yeah. All right. Cheers, boys. We're back on Thursday. And yes, go and listen to James's show at the Fringe. Cheers, everyone. Bye. Bye.
