In short

Tottenham Hotspur’s away match at Brighton (2-2), plus broader Spurs talk: Thomas Frank’s impact, squad needs (especially a striker), and player performances. They also discuss Brighton’s “2030 plan” and recruitment model, fan expectations, and a rumored Harry Kane buy-back clause.

Guests

The episode is hosted by three Tottenham supporters (Cal, Ricky, and Kyle). They’re match-going fans who debate tactics and individual players; no formal guest bios are provided in the transcript.

Key claims

Brighton’s goals felt like “sucker punches” despite Spurs dominating after going 2-0 down; Thomas Frank is “all in” and tactically adaptable; Spurs are over-reliant on Hamid Kudus when he’s on; Spurs need a “nine” and may have a Kane buy-back option.

Notable examples

Vicario’s controversial goalkeeping moment (ball movement/weight on wrong foot); Brighton’s 2030 plan and selling players to big clubs; Kudus’ strength and self-created chances; Xavi Simons’ impact off the bench; Richarlison’s goal via a ricochet off the keeper; Destiny Udogie’s attacking quality.

34It's the fighting. Cock. It's the fighting.

42It's the fighting. Cock. I can't hold certain up. To Rick the other day, I'm trying to... We're recording now, aren't we? Yeah, get that thing out of your mouth, Ricky. Sorry. Put it back in. Oh, shit. Oh, bonus. Cock's a cock. let me have it put it back in Rick quick

11Rick actually could you do me a favour just turn your mic down a little bit because it was peaking then you know how to do this don't you don't turn the dials yeah I'm not trying to big bro you here I can hear you don't do it in the dials anyway this is a good podcast good way to start the podcast you've actually started it now have you yeah you saw the thing it's started and we can't take this bit out because we did the cock joke at the start and that's good so you can't i'm not i'm not taking it out because this is poor podcasting because the start was 10 out of 10 right okay good and i was just wondering if you could uh you know you couldn't hear properly because of all the deafening noise of the brighton fans in the amex um another away day rick i know i'm not a loss you know i mean i i we're gonna go into it for obvious reasons but I thought um I thought parts of that you would have enjoyed right yeah yeah yeah yeah you were in a game did you did you sense that it was a performance that was worthy of a win inside the ground yeah I think we were like obviously being two nil down we were happy with the point in the end but there was a sense of if this game had gone on 10 minutes longer than we would have got we would come away with three points there and I felt kind of a felt a bit hard done by I feel I haven't watched the whole game back and I never will I was going to say do you no no you said that like you usually watch the games back I'm drawing lines on my screen I've got a fucking ruler out

48but I felt like they scored against the run of play yeah but both their goals felt like it really oh yeah 100 % so I was a bit like it's a bit of a sucker punch. Obviously, they go one and I'm like, right, okay. We can still get back into this. Only one and that one. Then when the second went in, I was like, fuck's sake. I've just driven three hours and four minutes, you cunts. Four minutes. Yeah. How was the journey? Because you were worried about your car not making it. Well, my car's fucked anyway. So I got insured on my dad's car and he's got a Kia Picanto. and it's like it's basically a moped engine and they put a car chassis on the moped engine we were trying to go up hills and my foot's to the floor and it's just like fucking going slower that's just like jesus christ but um we got there in one piece and came away again fine so yeah it was good mate it was good like um going to away games when i got in last night my missus was like saw the result how you feeling like to all and i was like i'd like what's that tone what's that tone what are you trying to do here oh what what was her tone i think she was expecting me to be unhappy and i was like i said to her like even i i know when this comes up my i was gonna sound incredibly sad but watching tottenham it's just no matter how many times i've fucking done it i love it i absolutely love going to watch tottenham and going on an away day no matter like we could i mean it would have been awful if we got absolutely fucking slept against them but i just there is nothing that i enjoy more than going to watch tottenham so two oh okay got the point but i had a great day brilliant yeah yeah good so what you went back and went don't worry love yeah dinner isn't going against the wall tonight yeah yeah exactly that yeah was it what why was she sheepish we're a bit concerned about that well how are you usually what if spurs get battered badly what are you is she does she have to what no no no stay her sister no i think she's just trying to pre uh preempt what i was going to be feeling like having done that drive and then come back and it's it's too all and it's against brighton she might have thought that I was a bit down in the dumps.

18Did you just explain to her, Brighton are good side these days? No. They're not the Brighton. No. No? No. No, I just, yeah, just fucking walked in. I was like, no, it was good. It was good. Spent the whole day with my dad, you know, a bit of a father-son bonding time. I think his highlight of the whole day was pulling up to park and he saw 18 seagulls on someone's roof. And he was like, yeah. And I was just like, brilliant. he's got um his phone is on one of those phone holders that's attached to your belts so he couldn't get his phone out quick enough he was like drawing a gun from a holster to photograph fucking seagulls on someone's roof i was like fucking hell i've never seen you move that quick i actually rate that being like something like that making you happy yeah i would like it takes a lot to make me happy i'd like a 30 yard screamer that's you know it's a rare thing whereas well not so rare yesterday because we saw one fly in the net that was one of them ones weren't it where you just went in you're like oh no oh no are we are we talking about the talking about that girl now can i talk about it yeah the cow's instead of word i know sorry mate sorry go it's fine they're not here for me it's fine of course they're here for you I was sitting right behind in line with where that diagonal where it shot and it came and it was coming towards Vicaro.

44And when he dived and put his hand out to it, I was like, he's going to save that. Now, you guys are going to think I'm fucking mad, right? But I have seen the replays that are available and it doesn't show it. That ball, as it was getting to his hand, it bobbled. It moved in the air. It was fucking so weird. It's like I've never seen anything like it. And it went, it swirled out of range of his hand. And he just got his hand to it and then it went in. Well, you're saying it wasn't his fault. It didn't look like it. Maybe he could have positioned better. Maybe he could, I don't know, read the situation better.

19Within his, I think he was in the right spot. He did everything right. It just seemed like he's going to save it. He's going to save it. Oh, he hasn't saved it. I'm telling you that the people that were there and they were where I was sitting, that ball moved away from his hand at the last minute. It was fucking mental. Never seen anything like it. It was like a cartoon. How? Do you know what he's talking about? Yeah, I do know what he's talking about. And actually, I'm always the first. Well, you saw it move as well. I thought it saw a little something. But I think the thing that's most important is that Vicario's weight was on the wrong foot.

51He just completely got done. His weight was on his right foot and mate, he's hit it and he weren't ready. He just wasn't ready for it. So it was the wrong foot rather than the ball doing a magic trick. Yeah, I didn't think that. I noticed there's a little something, but actually I don't think that was what caused the goal. I think what caused the goal was that his weight was on the wrong foot and I'm not having a go at him for that. I think if we want to win a league, and I know it's a long way off, I think we need to get a better goalkeeper. But actually for that yesterday, I don't blame him at all.

18He was just wrong foot and his weight was on the wrong foot and he went the wrong way. It went the other way. I didn't blame him at all. So was everybody where you was, Ricky, saying the same thing exactly the same thing yeah yeah the uh 30 lot fay nick were behind me chat to them at halftime they said exactly the same thing and guess who was directly eight seats behind me who vicario's dad and he was like pointing at his phone and he was doing hand movements the balls moved balls went yeah yeah i know look i appreciate your son yeah vicario's dad we understand it but everything you say is going to be biased we can't take your life for this mate I'm sorry.

58It's like, it's like when, you know, when, you know, there's these kind of like controversial decisions that go against you. Like, I don't know. What would it be? you had a goal, a red card, but you didn't think it was a red card. Right. Or a goal that goes against you in the last minute, but it was offside. It goes against, if you're trying to find the truth, don't speak to the fans of the teams that it went against. They're not going to give you the truth. They're going to give you a biased version of it. And don't talk to the rivals. either in fact talk to someone who's not interested in either of the clubs and they'll give you a fair assumption but yeah so what i'm saying is it doesn't what doesn't matter with vicario whatever he's did with his hands it doesn't matter yeah but you said it did move i didn't see that on telly mate i honestly i i know i've just said this but i have not seen anything like that there has been some really really weird really weird movement right at the last minute it just kind of like moved out like it just dipped.

54And I clearly saw it. My dad swore it was a deflection because of the way the ball moved. And I was like, there's no one there. What are you talking about? Yeah.

08When it went in and it went in from range, I just thought at that point, given the fact the game had been going towards Tottenham's way and we were playing well that when they hit us with 2-0 down it's like a long way to come back. Yeah. A long way to come back relatively early on in the second half, first half and it was a weird feeling because I didn't really feel like I had anyone to blame. Do you know what I mean, Cal? It was like... I thought we played well, man. We was on them and actually you think about the West Ham game and how slow we started and it took us probably what, half hour to really get into it and then this game we was at them we had a chance after six minutes didn't we?

47like we was on them from the first whistle and then they've just one counter-attack and they're up the other end and they've scored a they've scored a goal and it's like fuck man we're playing well and then a screamer from 25 yards it's like how the fuck are we two nil down like we've we've been the better team and i thought we were the better team the whole game and a draw in the end i thought was from you know from minute 43 onwards after we got the one back we was fucking all over him it was all over him yeah i thought a point was the least we deserved in the end definitely definitely i thought it was interesting because you think like brighton generally their fans are kind of happy with their their lot and they're they feel like they're in a in a good position it feels like from outside position it's generally they might have seasons that are a little bit more of a setback than others but they surely they're they're kind of they're pleased with how well run their football club is and i was thinking about like bright what brighton used to be when bobby zamora played for him and they were getting relegated and promoted every season do you remember rick they're yo-yoing down from the championship division one and tony bloom's coming and just entirely fixed the football club and made it to a point where they've got this plan it's called the 2030 plan that they will without foul finishing the top 10 every single season and by proxy probably qualify for europe more seasons than not that seems like given their limitations and their you know how they have to operate in the fact that they can't they know their players they're going to lose players they have to find they have this network of finding players that that can kind of fill the gap like Balaber who played yesterday and Minto they got off of Newcastle if I think if I think that's right um who was in part yesterday just sensational we knew he's good like we talked about him before and you just worried about him like I think out of the two, I'm thinking I would prefer, if I was going to buy one of the two, I'd probably prefer Minter over Mitoma.

41I know there are plenty of people that would disagree with that, but what we were up against yesterday were two really good wide forwards who would improve most teams in the Premier League. And that showed, didn't you, in that first goal where it was a good ball out from, I don't know if it was Mike Feltman at the right, I can't remember who it was who played the ball. What, who played Minter in? Yeah. I think there's some dude called Rutter. Oh, right. There was a ball played out from defence because it was essentially, he was away in two passes, wasn't he? And he picked the ball up and you just knew.

17If you've watched him before, you knew we're in a bad spot. It did kind of feel like last season a little bit in that single moment, just thinking, oh man, I'm being done on the break. But there's going to be scenarios in every game that you can be exploited. It's finding those exploits that was where you score goals. Anyway, my point is, is that they've been able to sign players like Minty who will know about going to other great things, maybe even at Spurs one day. But Unfazed Pheasant on Reddit said, this is the opinion Brighton fans have of their club. Opinions are mixed around the fan base.

51I'm of the mind that we're being hamstrung by a mid-inexperienced manager, a squad that's sold players one too many times and our best players and recruitment department that might be getting over-complacent. they've just they've signed him a year ago it's mad listening to other clubs talk about other fans talk about their clubs it was interesting did you see it in the pre-season they had like a AGM type thing or a fans thing with the chairman and then the that old boy he asked the question of the chairman whoever it was and said you keep selling all our best players to Chelsea like what's that all about and the chairman said well they're our best customers and they're all laughing and everyone's having a good time and you're sat there as a Spurs fan, as a club for the last 25 years under Daniel Levy, we don't fucking sell to rivals.

37We don't fucking sell to anybody. If we're selling, we're selling to teams abroad or you're going, you know, that sort of thing. And watching that as a fan of Tottenham being like, this is really interesting and actually really weird watching you lot. You're kind of just okay? Like, it's okay? And these are the match-going fans, right? And in a sense, they're the ones that matter to an extent. These are the guys that go week in, week out, and they're all having a laugh about saying everybody's a Chelsea. It was really interesting. It is a weird one with that. It's because I think at this stage, they understand their place in the league.

06Yeah, that's it. And we're not in that place. So we wouldn't accept that. But we are in a place where we probably do have to sell and we probably will see it at some stage. And we lose our very best players to the very best teams in Europe. That's our sort of spot at the moment, whether you like it or not. And it was actually Daniel Levy. This was a criticism from the Southampton bloke who dealt with Daniel Levy when we were buying Hojbjerg, I can't remember his name, and he was saying, I don't think Daniel Levy understands his Tottenham's place in the league at the moment. And that was part of the reason why he might struggle to get certain players in that didn't really feel like there was an exit point for them.

50And then that's what I'm saying. As fans, we wouldn't accept it either, us selling players to Chelsea. It's not like Chelsea are not overspending or not paying Brighton what they're worth. They do. Like Cucurella, 65 million, felt like a lot of money when it went through. And Caicedo, 100 million. So they can't ignore this stuff when it comes through. And it was just interesting. I won't read it all because it's quite long, but how bright this Brighton fan feels about his club and that he fundamentally feels like we might be going backwards. And then you look at what's happened at West Ham. They're protesting against their board for good reason.

27And we've been protesting against our board. Like Man United fans are protesting against everything that's going on at their football club. Is this just, are fans all just a little bit moaning and need to just shut up and get on with it? Is that a fair assessment? Or am I, I don't know if I even believe that either. But it just feels like not everyone can win. No, not everyone can win. But I think most fans are paying through the nose for their ticket. and it's like if i'm paying this amount of money then i expect us to to win or to not sell our players or to do whatever whatever it is that your expectation is and when that doesn't happen you feel entitled to say this isn't the product that i bought that you know i want a fucking refund yeah but but the brighton fans this is so much better than the the one the club they grew up with like this is the best they've ever had it but surely you gotta trust them a little bit anyway it was just weird because I just thought I thought Brighton were okay yesterday but remember that what they did to Tottenham last year wasn't wasn't it just we weren't the same football club and after five or six games now boys I wonder how you feel like that do you feel based on the performances that Frank has had a positive maybe this is an obvious question but a positive impact on what we're seeing.

50How significant is it? And how bought in are you to Thomas Frank? I'm fucking all in on Frank. Until next time. Yeah, no, no, but that's fine. This is so refreshing, Cal, because you hated Ange for so long and it's just so nice for, like, it feels like everyone's on the same page. Is that right? Yeah. Yeah, I'm massively bought in on Frank. Yeah, totally. I think, I feel like it's just, I was all in on Ange as well, but I feel like it's just refreshing to see how different of kind of managers they are, the different coaches they've brought in, their demeanor on the touchline, the way they talk about football.

37And I feel safe in Frank's hands. Do you know what I mean? like he has come out and said defensively and as a unit we've been quite solid and you know our basic principles are absolutely fine but we understand that we didn't create enough in the final third and we didn't do x y and z so it's not like he's just sat there and he's just saying no we played well we played well and didn't kind of mention or touch on those things so it's it's nice to hear that he knows what the kind of issues are and that he's working on them and A change in mentality, boys. Imagine buying your kid a toy only to find the batteries aren't included, or buying furniture but missing the tools to build it.

21Frustrating, right? Now imagine the exact same feeling, but you're paying way more. That is what buying business software usually feels like. Fragmented, disconnected, and incredibly expensive. 20:04Yes. Oh, go on, Kyle. Go on, go on, go on. I was just going to say, Yeah, I think winning a trophy is a big thing, a big thing for the players. And I think we always kind of felt that for a long time that they just need to win one. They just need to win one thing and it's going to change the place. And I think it really, really has. Plus you've got guys like Romero there that's won a World Cup and Porro and these guys are like proper winners and they have that mentality of wanting to win every single game. But I am all in on Frank. I like the fact that he can adapt on the fly. I like the fact that he can make changes and change the way we play.

35will go for the percentage stuff with throw-ins and stuff. That's fine. That's fine. Like, yeah, I'm all in on him. I am. He speaks great as well. He's an excellent speaker. We can see the young players improving. And I just think we need a few players. Like, I think we need a nine. Like, we really need a – and maybe it'll be Harry Kane coming back in the summer. I think we really need a nine because we've got the claws in. We've got a little buyback. You know, Levy left us with that little gift. Little goodbye present, little buy back on Harry Kane. Is there one? I think so. He said there was.

11Yeah, yeah, there is, yeah. I'm pretty sure there is one. Yeah. What Daniel Levy said. It's like 50-something million this summer. Really? I'll try and find out what that is. But the irony here is that he probably wouldn't have come back if Daniel Levy was there. But Daniel Levy put the clause in that we can now take benefit. If there is an option genuinely for us to buy back Harry Kane, and you've already heard rumours that Bayern Munich are planning for a world without him, although why they would is beyond me. I don't get it. You'd lock him down to a new deal, wouldn't you? They are talking like he's going to go and expect it.

52He's had 16 goal involvements in seven matches. That means goals or assists. That's all it means. 16 in seven. ridiculous but they're going don't know maybe maybe Nicholas Jackson can fill in boots what the fuck is going on here yeah he's unreal and he is unreal and we all knew it like at Tottenham we all knew that he was like an elite footballer he's probably the best footballer we've ever seen wear a Tottenham shirt like but yeah the really for the obviously I want him to come back but they should fucking throw all the money in the world at him like he's unbelievable he's like ready-made they've spent they've dropped 100 million pound on him was it 100 million 89 million something like that 100 million euros they've dropped it they've spent that right or they still owe parts of it to top them maybe i don't know but what just extend his contract unless he just like i want to go back to england and break the premier league goal scoring record he can't do that with anybody i mean he can he can do what he wants but fucking please do it with us don't don't don't go and do it with man united or anyone like that just you won your fucking trophy everyone's happy we won a trophy you know now you know we're both winners everybody's happy come back and do it with us like if he is available like you said one of the key the key issues we have is number nine right if domicile can't stay fit i think if he is fit i think maybe he would be the answer and we have him so we have to make that work to some degree but if he can't stay fit then he isn't the answer i think richardison actually i don't know if you guys agree with me i thought he had an okay game yesterday you know I hate his guts I know you do yeah and I thought he played I thought he played relatively well linked up well he wasn't wasteful on the ball lost it a couple of times but thought I'd give him a 7 out of 10 8 out of 10 7 out of 10 7 out of 7 7 is yeah generous 7 is generous yeah I thought first half he was woeful first half I thought he was awful what do you think Rick?

53you know I think yeah I'm the same as you Cal I thought first half he was fucking pony but then I am slightly biased because I have kind of we all hate your guts yeah I do I hate his guts catch your chips in I hate his guts if you can be honest imagine we're not podcasting we're just chatting in a pub do you hate his guts yeah do you hate his guts yeah I fucking hate him guts I hate his guts I thought he scored the goal didn't he mate let the build up for that goal I thought it was like almost overplaying at times someone fucking hit it but by the time we got the ball to Richarlison he was like unstoppable just quickly the thing is with that goal though like Richarlison thank you for that goal like honestly I can't remember who it was shot it hit Richarlison bounced in front of him and he's got the goal in front of him he can stick it anywhere and he lashes it and it hits the keeper and then dribbles into the goal fuck's sake anywhere Richie anywhere yeah just put it in the keeper um just on what was it your dad said about uh harry kane and oh he said he said um he was like i don't care sell him in january and i was like all right because if we can get kane back we should get him back like he was having a go at me like i was disagreeing with him and i was like what the world's best number nine of course fucking get him back.

20It was like he was having a go at you. Like I said something. Just an outburst during the game. He was like, oh, fucking hell, dad. Chill. I love you, dad. That is brilliant. This is your fault, Ricky. You're digging me out. Harry Kane was listed in 4-4-2's top 100 Premier League players of all time in eighth behind Eric Cantona. That fucking drives me insane. That is an overrated player ever. He's good, but he was also played in the United team. He played in the Premier League for like, what, three, four years. Yeah. Fucking so overrated. Yeah. And then you've got De Bruyne, Salah, yeah, Shearer.

10I think Kane is a better footballer than Shearer. Oh, yeah. I think even if Kane comes back, he breaks the record. he could probably even win a league title and he would still be an eighth. It's just the way they talk about him, isn't it? Yeah, it is. I'll tell you who people are talking about and I thought he's best display in the Spurs shirt. Hamid Kudus. Just consistently brilliant, right? But he was great yesterday. Oh, it was amazing. Wasn't he? Wasn't he? Yeah, he... Like watching him live, the strength on him and the willingness to that from a standing position to take someone on. And then almost it's like he's taking them on, he's beating them, and then he'll just go back again and be like, right, I beat you again.

58It's fucking like, no, put the ball in, son. And his ball's into the box and just driving with the ball. There was a couple of times where they doubled up on him and he was still, you know, wiggling his way through and then fucking driving on again. the thing that I am I just hope that we don't become over reliant on him because at the moment it feels like he's this creative outlet and he's doing a lot of the work when he's playing next to a child someone do you want to do I don't know I don't know we know we can't rely on a child so what choice do we have here we are over reliant on him already I know what I'm just saying we need to sort that out I think is what I'm trying to say yeah yeah I think Kulisevski coming back will be a big help for that I think he's the natural player to take that to give him to give him a break from you know in terms of giving Kudus a break and rotating those two yeah Kulisevski will be big when he comes back but yeah we've got to manage our expectations I think with him and Madison you know if we see him this either of them this season it's going to be a bonus I think yeah it was an interesting battle with the Turkish debutant in the left back Kadiyoglu, I think his name is.

15Him and Kudis, he looked really good, defensively really solid. I think that once again, signed an excellent player there, but it got to a point where he was just, the incessant pressure and the questions that Kudis asked of the players that he's going up against must be mentally exhausting for a game. You know, first 10 minutes, everyone's fresh. Beating a man one for one early, you know, in early game state, if you like, it doesn't really happen unless you're like a magician it tends not to happen and there's a lot of sort of cycling and figuring each other out and obviously Kudis wouldn't have known anything about him and then there's a game more on I felt like he just got his number a little bit and he got pulled eventually and it might be a fitness issue there was one moment where we went down the right hand side and he sort of showed him the ball and just flicked it past him and just put the afterburners on and went down the right hand side and there's been a number of opportunities is that Kudus has had self-created through the last sort of couple of months that Frank's had them.

18And it's just, there's so much to his game, Kudus. And like, because he can offer so much, I don't think that it's impossible not to rely upon him when he's on the pitch. It's like he holds the ball up. He can shield, he can bring other players in. He can carry it into midfield if need be and sort of open the game up. He can go past players with pace. He can stand them up. He's, I don't, it's rare actually. Like I know a lot of mate was made about Minter's performance, but Kudus was just sensational and will continue to be so. Like I don't, I didn't realise he was that good really. And I think for the 52 million pound or whatever it was that we paid for him, he's an absolute steal at West Ham.

03Mate, how can those fucking Dimlos in East London be like, oh fucking he was shit last season. and we've sold you a dud and all that. I'm like, if he's a fucking dud, he's quality, man. What are you going on about? I don't think the board are the problem. You're not the problem. How the fuck are you thinking? I saw one podcast, it got clipped up, and we've had their pants pulled down there, and you're like, what did you see? How bad could he have been if you think we've had your pants pulled down? How can you be sat 19th in the league or whatever it is they are, but going, yeah, we've had them there.

35It's like, mate, look at what's happening. Look what's happening at your club. we beat you lot in second gear last week like we were singing songs from like fucking our time we was having a great time like fucking hell uh he was great to us but he got two assists didn't he yesterday although the second one am i right flab the second one doesn't count as an assist because it's no goal uh no i think yeah i think it yeah i think it did okay i think it did yeah yeah yeah well uh i will tell you um yeah i thought they don't count if i don't count assists if their own goals i don't know i have to i can find that out while we chat but um yeah so paulina's performance in midfield the midfield as a whole i thought there's look so it's weird when i was watching it watching paulina's games i can see why people there is a need for a deep line playmaker or a player that can do that because there were moments where we could have taken opportunities if he was if he had like a greater vision when playing football but that isn't his attribute but the breakup play i mean the tackling and the it's just more the same like it's not fancy it's not like an 80 yard pass and he made a couple of diagonal passes only thing when one or two went astray a couple of diagonals diagonals that that come off and and opened up the pitch for us a little bit and i didn't have any issues with that there is like he's not adam warnton in terms of his vision but he is he you know all i'm saying is I can understand where people are critical of his game.

05If you accept that, that he does so much off the ball, that you just accept that that's part of something else we've got to deal with, then overall, again, really good performance. What about you, boys? Yeah, part of me is kind of like, because there is this discourse around him and that he can't, well, he's not that great at passing or his passing range isn't that great. And it's almost like felt yesterday that he's been reading social media and he's thought, I'm going to try a couple of die hacks here. I said, I'm going to fucking show them I can play football. And a couple of them went astray and went out and everyone was like, for fuck's sake, just stick to the tackling.

44But yeah, he did well. And like you're saying, the tackles that he makes and the blocks and how he gets around the pitch and breaks up play, I'm sitting there thinking, how did we not have someone like that last season? but he honestly the the work the work rate and the the way that he is um you know helping out in defense it's just insane so i just i don't know how we didn't have a player like that last season i think i think he's uh been a great signing and i get the point of this deep line playmaker but also at the same time I'm not I'm not gonna rubbish him while he's while he's playing and while he's contributing I think he's been brilliant we were we were linked to a Van Hecker weren't we I like him I think he had a really good game the old goal was was a shame for him but great for us but a little bit a little bit imperious I would say I thought we had a great game yeah and they were under the course weren't they for an hour against us and yeah they they you know i thought i agree with you i thought you had a really good game as well i love paulina man i think he's great like i love him and i think if you're going to have a coach that's as tactically adaptable as frank is you have to have different types of players and that's what paulina is he's that different type of midfielder to everyone else that we have like and a deep line play makeup that'd be nice too right but you've got to have a variation if you're going to be that you're going to be tactically adaptable and if you're going to have players like Bergvau and Saar that are kind of at times because they're so young can be kind of headless chickens a bit like fucking Bergvau was out on the right it wasn't he the other and then Saar's kind of here there and everywhere you've got to have that experienced guy in the middle just fucking either smashing people or just clearing up if the option if the option was Adam Wartom or Paulina and you went for Paulina then you could like be critical there I guess because I think he would have suited us or suited to anyone in his class, right?

48Yeah. But that wasn't the option. It was like, how do we improve on what we've got? We don't have a Paulina. We don't have anyone who nearly can do as much as that. Bissouma are obviously out of the door pretty much. And Ben Sikor isn't a similar player in any shape or form, although he has a bit about him. Paulina is just a beast when it comes to winning the ball back. So, yeah, that wasn't really the option. So it was about improving on what we had. And what we had wasn't nearly good enough. And just what you mentioned about, like, Beraval yesterday, I didn't think he had a good game. Nah. But it's important in the short term, but it's more important for his development that you don't stifle his willingness to carry.

35And it got him into trouble a couple of times. And he turned in the wrong directions sometimes when there was a potential option on. His complete vision of the pitch, it doesn't appear to be quite there yet. But there's such a player in there that you just allow them. It's almost like, it almost took me back to when Gareth Bale broke out at Tottenham-Oxburgh and he kept going on runs and he would run down blind alleys, but he would be going past players and you'd be like, it's really good, but how effective is it? And Spooky at the time, and I won't give Spooky much credit, but I will give him this.

09he said just let him play if he's doing these things if he's attempting them at this age what is he going to be doing in three years four years for Tottenham if you allow them room to breathe these types of players so it will happen every now and then but obviously he was excellent against West Ham and yesterday was less so but that decision to do the good work and then pass into the keys where he scored that goal it was almost like yeah yeah yeah I think I mean even though technically yeah it was a misplaced pass that went into the guy and he scored but it's hard to kind of hang him out to and I know you weren't doing to hang him out to dry on that particular bit because he is gonna make mistakes but I thought yesterday as well like himself and Benton Kerr when when the game started especially like we had it was us for the most part in the first half that was taking it to Brighton.

12But when they did have their spells, you could see, you know, when the ball was just bouncing about and as a player, you're waiting for it to bounce properly or to sit properly so you can nick it and stuff. Yeah. There's that couple of second delay, but then the Brighton players were just coming into midfield and being more aggressive and nicking the ball off him. And it's like, you can't wait for it to sit right. Sometimes you just have to get your body in the way of it and then control it, screen it. And we were losing the ball out. It was both him and Benninger that were doing it. And I just kind of like, I just felt that he's played on Saturday against West Ham, scored a goal, absolutely buzzing.

54And then Champions League as well. Did he get a player of the match? Yes, he did. In the week. Champions League as well. Yeah, in the week. In West Ham he did. he didn't give that did he? yeah fair play yeah yeah I'm sure I'm sure he did so you know as a young kid he's absolutely buzzing he's running on adrenaline he must be fucking knackered man absolutely cream cracker like a lot of the players are playing that you know Saturday Champions League game a lot of pressure riding on them on Tuesday they've got it over the line in the end a grueling game and then to come to away at Brighton and to be just that little bit of missing that edge, that sharpness, that focus.

39And it will pay against a team like Brighton. When knackered and cream-crackered, all I could think about was getting off your mum. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? It was the cream, wasn't it? It was the cream. And when you get off Rick's mum, you know you've had a session, you've had a workout. And she pops a cracker in your gob as well. She does as well. There you go, son. it lasts for ages that's the thing this is the last thing I need a dry cracker but alright I'll go with it I'm really personally I'm really discovering the juice love oh thank you I'm really it's like you've just got a packet a packet of cream crackers in the drawer there you go son get that in your because it just takes ages of your love alright alright fuck it All right.

35Should that... All-bodied workout. It is. Should we talk about Xavi Simmons? No, let's keep talking about Ricky. Let's talk about Ricky as well. Because I sometimes call Cal midway through and go, did it take you this time? I'm like, yeah. Yeah. I don't know where I am. I'm dizzy. I'm so exhausted. I've gone dizzy. No, before Xavi Simmons, and we have to. Yes. but I want to talk about the fact that Randall Colomani Rolo to his friends yeah he was out with a dead leg I haven't heard of a dead leg since I was about eight years old my uncle used to give me dead legs mate this is a bit weird isn't it my uncle would pin me down oh yeah smash you smash you from behind is that where the dead leg come from that's too much Ricky Ricky that's too much it was him with me

30i'm surprised by you why go on carry on

42did you see me looking to the distance no he didn't no it made me think i'll tell you after the show why i went silent then the um the no he used to give me like a proper dig in the leg like with dead leg and i haven't had like fucking dead leg since that long so i know it was a bit of a shame when uh moani wasn't starting because he's kind of maybe he's the number nine maybe he's the solution maybe he's yeah he's the one that can play on the left um so uh yeah but yes the introduction of javi simmons was uh we just saw the difference in class and how good he is cal yeah yeah a lot of people on online are kind of saying oh he's got a star as a 10 and i agree i agree like i was he played centrally yesterday yeah i was living at west ham i was like yeah we've bought him and we're playing him on the left like as you do when you're sat in a football when you're sat in the stand-up football you say things right that's just what you do um but i actually got it yesterday it actually made complete sense to me why he didn't maybe i perhaps would have started him on the left but it made sense to me why he didn't start him as a 10 yesterday because you're away at brighton it's a tougher way ground and first off their midfield were really good and they've got a good midfield So I get it why he kind of played Ben Tancor next to Paulinho, shore it up a bit, let Bergwau run around and roam.

55It made absolute sense. But once we got hold of the game second half and then we brought Sabi Simmonds on, he was brilliant. You can see the quality. The quality is the quality. So there was a moment. The bit that had done it for me was when he carried the ball. He carried the ball, beat a couple of players and shot a goal. And he forced a save and that was intent. But moreover, the pass out to Kudus was so perfect and at such pace that the defenders didn't have time to react. And Kudus' control is so good that he received the ball that potentially some players may have found difficult. Do you know what I'm talking about?

31It was like a sort of fast-paced side foot pass off the ground into Kudus. And it landed at his feet and it didn't even touch the ground. He took it on the volley and then brought it in and then Van Hecken scored the end goal. But it's that little special sprinkling of stardust with everything he does. And he's going to be incredible for us. I nearly had a heart attack when he dived for the penalty, trying to win the penalty, which was an inexcusably bad dive. But then he kept holding his ankle, and I'm like, it would just be our luck, wouldn't it? Yeah. What is that? Metatarsal? Probably metatarsal, isn't it?

17He's going down, he's holding his ankle. No one's really bothered. In my head, he's broken his ankle and that's it. We'll see him in eight months and he's half the player of what we bought. That's what was going through my head. Yeah, I was expecting because he was laying down grabbing his ankle and then somebody else was around him saying, you know, waving the medical on. Like, come on, quick, quick. I was expecting him to raise his leg. You know when people, like you see Instagram reels and they've broken their leg from BMX and it's just flopped. like that you know the ankles are just like yeah it's just i was expecting to see that yeah do you know what they do when in those videos rig when they hold the legs up yeah they're looking around at people like what what do you want me to do about it you've broken your leg i ain't a why are you looking at me it's like looks hold on oh my god i've broken my help help i'm like what do you want me to do me nothing about broken legs is that a compound fracture yeah the bone's poking out the skin is it all right run it off not even that i just like can you roll him off the side of the picture we can carry on playing um yeah no but uh yeah very good i'm glad to uh see him play again and yeah coming off the bench against tired legs it's gonna be a very very special player i was saying to me our man that um the way he took the ball and the shot which falls to save like a lot of players would have got that and just smashed it uh but the way that he kind of um almost just placed it into that corner with a bit of pace on it it's just that that second that he's thought about it that extra second and um had a great shot and then against uh villarreal midweek there was just times where you know where players control a ball and most of the time they control it like everyone else but there's just this softness about skillfully, just delicate.

06You just know he's just fucking absolute class, man. And by the time he's kind of got a run in the team in his favourite position, got up to pace with the Premier League, he is going to be fucking... It's going to be unreal. Yeah, we've signed a gem there. Did you notice Thomas Frank? He had his little magnetic tactics board. He was out there discussing it with Conkering. did you see that from the yeah that was holding it like amarin got absolutely destroyed for that like and and the man united fans oh look how pathetic promise frank using his magnetic how pathetic look at him look at the creep creep i might have added the creep i don't know like what is that like what it's what do they look at there when they're there what do you see i mean i'm not professed that know exactly what a premier league manager what goes through his brain and how he understands the game it's kind of it's kind of learning styles isn't it it's like some people you can sell them what you want but some people you got to show them you some people need that called it more diversity or whatever whatever i'm sorry no not morons neurodiversity yeah i was just thinking like that's how we learn right we all learn differently that was just me trying to be nice and he was like no dudes it's like right like we all love michael dawson but i remember um and i think this is true or i might be making it up but it's not from a place of get out of your mouth freak oh put it back in this reminds me of when like what was it how do we how would um if you ricky had to have sex with daniel levy would he do it if it meant the spurs would be able to sign savvy simmons but while while he while daniel levy was giving it to ricky he was completely was it he was completely naked i was completely naked he's fully dressed and his boner is poking through his trousers because he's got too much business on his hands he's not got the time to take his clothes off he's on the Blackberry while he's hammering you Ricky's had to meet him in a holiday inn in Watford

26we're in this situation where Daniel Lee is going Ricky up against the hotel door Ricky's completely naked and in order to make sure that Xavi Simons signs for Tottenham Osborne Ricky has to whisper and his ear

43can't do it I'm going to make you come and then Levi does a Trump ask I'm going to come do not come where were we I don't know Sammy Simmons this could be a nice way to end. Alistair Gold was a nice tweet. Thomas Frank on why he thought this was Spurs' most complete performance of the season. I know we conceded two goals and it's never that black and white. So one where we will say I should take it. The second one is okay. We conceded a goal but that can happen. Dave said, sorry, did he say that? That is worrying. Alright, that'll do it boys I think. Forgot to ask a question so there are none.

42Okay. But Vuskiewicz scored for Hamburg. Bang. It was interesting because I was listening to Andy Brassel on European Express. I think it's called the show on TalkSport he does with Danny Kelly. And he was, he's obviously 19, but he's been brought into that Hamburg defence to lead it. They brought him in and said, you're the guy. Fucking hell. Yeah. Yeah. So he's, you know, he's, he, I can't remember exactly what the words were. I think Vuscovic wasn't expecting to, it was sort of expecting time to bed in. And it seems like the Hamburg coach has said, no, you're our guy and you're going to play.

22And you're going to lead this defence. Nice. God, that's the weight on your shoulders at 19, isn't it? Is he 19 or 18? 19, I think, or 18 maybe. Fuck, hell. But it's, it's crap. It's crazy. this guy called Colin Coise is utterly ridiculous the amount of big moments that this guy's created already just loves a goal and he cleared one off the line didn't he as well did he? you tell me cleared one off I think what I read on what I saw on Reddit was that basically it was his fuck up that created he just loves it someone said he's aura farming that he fucked up made a mistake and then managed to clear it off the line and then scores then ends up scoring a goal and it's like give me it all give me it all on all the aura on every moment of this.

04It's all about me.

08The offside was very close, just sort of cleaning up a few bits and pieces. I don't understand it. It was the shirt, the edge of the shirt that meant he was onside. So Romero's left shirt, the part of the arm, was ahead of Minter's shirt to the degree of millimeters. don't make it up um shirt don't make it up yeah it's the shirt line so from the shirt all the way up to the shoulder that is playable apparently so it's the part of the goals so your arm doesn't count obviously because you can't score with your arm but everything the only parts that can count with an offside is the parts of your body that you can score with so it's everything below the shirt line so if you score a goal like that and it hits your shoulder and the part of the ball hits the top of the arm, that's fine, apparently.

08Look, if it's on, it's on. It's just... Yeah, it was fine. It's fine. Honourable mention, Destiny a doggy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. How fucking good was he? We all love Spence. We all love Spence. We all love Poirot. We've got three really fucking good fullbacks, haven't we? But Destiny a doggy yesterday was banging. Offensively was superb. Yeah. Offensively superb. superb um on the ball superb and it was nice to have a bit of natural balance i think that's not critical of spence but having a left-handed sided left back with you know players in front of him that you can't like you don't know which way to tell that spence is going if he decides to go down the left he's on his weaker foot which is it's not weak you know but he's weaker then um you don't know if he's going to cut in and there isn't you know there was just this kind of natural balance anyway that I quite enjoyed.

01But like you say, you know, three excellent fullbacks. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Great. All right. And finally, on the buyback clause for Harry Kane. So back in September 2023, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said that Spurs have a buyback clause in Kane's contract, buying contract. Some reports claim there's a first option or matching rights, meaning if Bayern ever decide to sell Kane, Spurs might have the chance to make an offer. Fabrizio Romano said that Spurs do not have a traditional buyback clause. Instead, what seems more certain is like a gentleman's agreement that Tottenham will be informed if Bayern plan to sell Kane.

47That makes Spurs aware and gives them a priority, but doesn't force Bayern to sell or obligate them to fix buyback mechanism. Here we go. Done. Yeah, it sounds like here we go, done. Back to Tottenham. Yeah. All right. Nice one, boys. We, what have we got? Doncaster at the weekend. I mean, the week. Yeah. Yeah, and then Wolves next week. Away or home? Home, innit? Eight o 'clock kickoff as well. On a Saturday. Fucking hell, yeah. Absolutely fucking get in a bin, Sky. Yeah. Fuck's sake, man. You going to Bayford? Yeah. Fuck. You going to Doncaster, Rick? Yeah. you need to get a life mate I know I do I really do is your dad going no he ain't he was like who are you going with he's not going on my own is it you're going on your own rig yeah fair play mate you I would say you know it's a home game yeah yeah oh no we're not going it's not I'm not going to Doncaster on my own just driving to Donnie barefoot I love me my Tottenham fair enough fair play mate alright cheers boys cheers we'll be back after what's the next piece of content that you can possibly gobble up probably will be a preview for Doncaster yeah alright then cheers boys cheers
