I can't, old sir, no! Hello and welcome back to the Fighting Cock podcast. This is the Q &A podcast because it's Thursday and, oh man, we could have done a podcast yesterday. day after the Buddha Glimp game. But it was a difficult game to enjoy in many ways. So I just felt like a good 24 hours distance between the misery of the Northern Circle or whatever the fuck it's called. I mean, now I look to you, it's a tough place to go. Tough place to go. Is it the Northern Circle?
58The Northern Circle sounds like the magic circle, but for Northern people who can do tricks. northern people doing magic tricks. It's the Arctic Circus. Yeah. It's the nonsense. How are you boys? All right. Yeah, not bad.
19It's weird, mate. Sorry. I feel like even now I'm feeling like, oh, I'm down. We've lost like one game all season. Why are we all down? Why are we all down? It's so early, isn't it? Like, I know it's the performances. I know that is really why. It's not been electrifying football. It's not like Angie's first 10 games where we were literally like, could we? It's not like that. But in some ways, this is actually much more healthy, which is that we're building a sort of stable platform whilst we figure out how to make the performances better. We're picking up results and we're building character and scrapping through games and pulling back into games that we're behind in and finding a way.
01that is actually like a much healthier approach like longer term it just feels shit now because we're absolutely slugging along um in the northern uh circle and doing you know not doing very much there and we've got you know a very disjointed feel to our squad so i get all the reasons why people are feeling down but like everything i always try to look at things optimistically and i just gotta look at this and think this is just the beginning it's really early and we're still getting results so it'll be fine yeah i i i think it's fine i think it's fine to give cochran and frank as much time as they need to get this sort of if we're getting battered every week that's one thing and the tactics clearly not working like we had over and down spot to where you're like oh my god if i have to watch this get done on the break one more time i'm gonna fucking run in front of a truck it ain't that is it it's just it isn't gelling going forward and we haven't been able to play a number 10 properly, we've had to make do with players like Bereval and perhaps are not specialists in that area at all.
06Because what else do we have? We're blooding Xavi Simmonds into the team, which is, you know, we want to work immediately, but, you know, that isn't the reality here. You've seen how difficult it is to traverse the gap between, you know, the German Bundesliga and the Premier League. Florian Wurtz, widely regarded as one of the best 10s, if not the best 10 in Europe last year, has failed miserably thus far because he's adjusting. And so we're waiting for that 10 and left winger combination to work. But it's, well, and having to deal with the fact that we have one fit number nine, who is Richarlison.
46So we are going to struggle somewhat. How are you, Nick, with a current conundrum? it's just you said adjusting it's just adjusting in it like that's what it is it's like you get a new job and it's really exciting and you know but you've got to go through induction and going to Norway it felt like we were going to Norway for a meeting like an hour-long meeting 90 minute meeting you know like to like so hold on so we got to go to we got to go to Norway for a meet I don't want to go but you got to go it's a new job in it you know what I mean like you're not going to get to do all the good shit unless you go this meeting.
21Why have I got to go to Norway? It's shit. Like, they don't even play on fucking grass, mate. You know what I mean? I was so angry. I was unreasonably angry about the creases on the pitch. That is ridiculous. But you can see them on the touchline. I don't know if you noticed them. The first time around, I didn't really notice them. This time around, there is a fold. A fucking fold on a Champions League football pitch. I'm like, surely you can work. I know it's freezing cold up there, but surely you can work out the crease. It ain't because where's the iron where's it where's the fucking iron who's in charge of the iron but the thing is he's been installed incorrectly clearly because there shouldn't be a crease on a fucking football pitch that is artificial and you can't use excuse that it's really cold i'm not having it you've got now 40 40 to 50 million pound guaranteed to this tiny little shithole stadium guaranteed sort the crease out it's to carry on nick's workplace uh scenario it's a bit like going yeah come to the office come in come into our office in norway and then you get there and it's just one of those port-a-cabins on stilts and you're like that's not an office that's not a real building is it god it's not real business here can i it reminds me of when um what uh jack to trunk didn't he get a job in like iceland or something and turn up and no one like no one knew who he fucking was so he wandered around for a week and went home like it's a bit like like why are we going to norway i don't know it just um i think it is just adjustment and i don't really think that the collective like outpouring of madness which has followed this game including i've seen frank out you know i've seen like we've got no good players it's nothing to do with the football mat it's just the fact that it's autumn summer's over we've all fucking had enough we're all stressed we've all got shit going on and then this happens on a fucking tuesday and it's meant to be champions league and it's just not is it like it's just a massive shit funny i don't if you're aware of this but it's a a known phenomenon in the content creating world that this period between october and november is a fallow period is it's difficult to get people to listen to a podcast to watch videos because it there's an international break but it's also summer's over we're moving to darker days and people are all together a little bit more miserable and when they're miserable they listen to less podcasts so i think there's definitely there's definitely something in that that the general like everyone's a little bit miserable now and you're looking the world's a pretty fucked up place right it's just lots of horrible things happening where it seems and we're looking to football as a way out as a way to distract ourselves from the stuff that we we're forced to look at at six o 'clock on the bbc and on the news you are going to be a little bit miffed i think um we've got a question here though from zeus he says has the oversaturation of football media made every fan base have less patience and if so which biscuit could you put up your bum without breaking and well i'll start with start with that cadbury's finger uh most logical shape mate that's exactly what i was thinking surely that's just gonna snap off boys i thought that's the one that comes into your head in it because you're dirty little pigs and you think about fingering your bum like but it's just gonna snap i went straight to a ginger nut very hardy you're not getting a ginger nut about your ass the width it's just why you haven't thought about this at all no i haven't thought about this at all you're right it's a disc i mean like given enough time i reckon i could work it in there but it ain't a chocolate finger either so none of us have answered this very well yeah the chocolate i think it is a chocolate finger it's a chocolate finger that's been kept in the fridge that's rigid enough that if you just you know you've you've taken some poppers you've lubed up the finger i think that that is just a very slow methodical push i don't think you're allowed to take poppers because you could put a ginger nut up your ass if you've done loads of poppers probably it sounds like you you've had a package and some poppers in the past i've tried it you definitely can it's not that but my mind has gone to what about a frozen bourbon in a condom you can't add paraphernalia that's not right.
32Paraphronite, what, we're allowed drugs now, we're allowed poppers, but we're not allowed. It's just, sorry, it's innocent, it's just, you're completely sober, it's three o 'clock on a Tuesday afternoon, what biscuit can you put up your ass with bacon, that's all it is. Okay. This kind of reminds me of the conversation, remember that bloke who emailed in, when he gets too hot in the summer, he puts a mini milk up his ass to call him down. Yeah. That's, I don't know if that's just a coincidence, Is it one of your mates? Yeah, so he basically, Did you say that? Yeah, he, in the summer he was really hot and he was trying to cool himself down and then he and his mate were chatting they're like yeah apparently it's like you know when they put a thermometer up your ass to see your internal temperature i think he'd heard that and gone well if i can cool that down maybe that will help me and he had ring sting so he was like my ring my ring is stinging and i need to cool my internal temperature down so i can i can kill all the birds with one mini milk shaped stone so he he got a mini milk out of the freezer and fucking shoved it up his ass and he said it was amazing he said it felt amazing it got rid of his ring sting I'm not sure if it called him down but I love the idea that it did call him down like and obviously perfectly phallic and in its insertion so it's yeah exactly makes complete sense but let you know the bow to glim came we we got the draw we didn't deserve it we had opportunities we hit the post twice Mace, the doggy great editor, take the post.
57You know, we managed to not lose. And I think what we've seen over the discourse on the Tottenham fan base is some of it is people going, any of the previous managers, we would have probably lost that game, Conte, and specifically Postacoglu, whereas we kind of didn't and they didn't give in. But that sort of thing isn't sustainable and we do need to start seeing decent football. And that's not to say that we haven't seen it in the last eight games. We have seen it. There's been a couple of performances that have been excellent. The PSG game was excellent. The City game and the West Ham game was all...
34And Brighton was really good, really pleasing, despite it only being a draw. So that is in the team. 100 % that's in the team. It's just we're not quite creating the chances as it stands. And that's where the satisfaction is coming from, I think. far conclusion 9269 on reddit he says our passing has been arse for years Pochettino Mourinho, Conte and Frank it doesn't matter other than a few bright spells we always seem to revert to be impassive why do you think this is and are we cursed
10Justin Bisu says it all being Tim Sherwood's fault makes much more sense to me and Congo Senpai says our passing wasn't shit under Ange. I don't know what to say to that. It's technique for me. It's technical players. I think if you look at the squad, let's say, I don't necessarily agree with the Poch one because I do feel like we had some good passes of football in that team. Ericsson for a prime example. I do feel with the team since that era, so the team under Jose, Conte, etc. We had a lot of, and we still do, we have a lot of runners and players who want to carry the ball, and we have less technicians, neat and tidy technical players.
52And you can see that when those players aren't available. When Madison plays, we look so much better because he is that type of technically gifted player. If you take Porro out the side, we suffer because he's a really good passer of the ball because he's technically one of our better players. So when we just lack enough technical footballers on the pitch, we struggle. And that doesn't mean that we can't have... you know for every like madison you need a palina like you do need those destructive players and those more physical players as well right and there's a place for papa massaro and there's a place for those type of players but i just think we've we haven't had like a consistent core of technically gifted players and if you look at the sort of top sides liverpool city and even the scum they got loads like every player is technically gifted and we just we just don't have that so we got a lot of runners especially in our forward positions right like you would say like richarlison the ball bounces off him.
45Johnson is just a runner, like he wants to get in behind. As soon as we brought in Kudos, look how much better we are with him in the team because he's like a much more technically gifted player. So I don't know. I think it's that. It's just techie ballers. That's what we're missing. I think to your point, John, as well, I think we really missed Romero in that vein last night. I think the defence really loses some of that progression without him in the middle. I thought Mickey, I thought he had a decent game, to be honest with you, but he looked a bit out of sorts. And I think maybe who's going to play that role when Vicario's kicking is questionable at the moment.
23But more back to my original point is about Romero and the way that he can kind of put that ball through the line and bypass those runners in midfield. I mean, we have seen it just, as you say, coming off Richie at the moment and missing that as well. But Romero can sometimes do a bit of the midfield's job if we've just got people sprinting everywhere, which it does feel like at times. So maybe we suffered a little bit from that last night. It did feel like through the centre of the park, there was just not a lot going on at all that we kept kind of leaning into the flanks, going back and forth and trying to look for something that just wasn't there.
00And one of the criticisms I saw bandied about last night was Kudas holding onto the ball a bit too much, but we're bringing him on and we're bringing Simmonds on and asking them to be the difference so they need the ball at their feet right. And if you're not getting those short passes coming from the back, you're going to hang on to it a little bit longer. It just, it comes back to me to be about depth again. And I think that's what was lacking. We shouldn't go and start our strongest side against, you know, the fucking crease pitch wankers. But we need more creativity to be able to come on and fill those gaps so that we can play our football against them.
37Yeah, agreed. A quick note on Pedro Porro. Obviously got done for both the goals. Way too easy. But his delivery for Van der Ven's header, I think it was. Or was it the offside goal? I'm not sure of it. It was an absolute peach. And since the start of 2023-24, Pedro Porro has assisted more goals than any other defender in the Premier League. So, just goes to show. He has been fined defensively. He did get exposed in this game. That Haig guy, the number 10 for them, was superb, I thought. Yeah, yeah. Quality, local boy. He played really well, didn't he? Yeah, he did well. Yeah. Williams Barnett signed a pro contract with Tottenham.
24Just announced, which is good. Saw him come off the bench, didn't mean, in Doncaster the other day. Hugely tipped for a massive future at Tottenham, which I don't know if they were more excited by kind of Jamie Donnelly, Mikey Moore, if they had this kind of hype, but he looks mustered. And if you believe people understand football at that level, he is ahead of where Mikey Moore was. So if Mikey Moore can make first-team appearances, this lad can and looks interesting. I don't know what you've seen in the – anything in these – you know, the clips of him playing in the under-21s and under-19s, but he looks absolutely mustered boys.
02I'm quite excited about him. Yeah, he's an absolute baller. My friend who you know, Flav, Nick, not this Nick, the other Nick, he knows his dad. Oh, really? Yeah, they're all like a proper Spurs family as well. So I know that doesn't necessarily always compute to talent, but I always think it's a nice bonus if you know the whole family Spurs. So yeah, he's a legit proper Spurs fan as well. And yeah, he's got a really supportive, strong family unit. Like, he's got all the sort of off-pitch stuff you need to be successful. He's got it. And we've seen, even in the clips and bits and pieces we've seen of him as a player, like, he is seriously next level.
41He is very exciting. Has he said anything else, your mate, Nick? I can ask him stuff. Yeah, ask him stuff. That'd be interesting, yeah. All right. All right. Good. That'd be good. yeah I mean it's just you know the Lily White Rose when we had him on the lab about six months ago now and he just couldn't speak highly enough of him so interesting Better Call Tom says honest thoughts on a 33 year old Harry Kane rejoining in the summer I am all for it we know it will only be for a couple of years but it just feels right he immediately contributes to the team and is a statement of intent to others that we're in what we're in the market for it will still give us a couple of years and try and bet in in talents like lankshire and melia who will have the opportunity to learn from the best if rumors are to be believed it won't happen without champions league football though which is a big big ask in frank's first season i don't see there's any downside other than the fact there's no sell on value that's the only downside to buying what is an impeccable harry Kane at 33.
50I know it always comes as a caveat next to his name when the idea about re-signing him should be considered. He's not normal. You'd have him back, boys. 100%. Imagine, imagine what we'd look like with him up top, even just this season from these games. Like, you know, the difference in quality is beyond stark. He's literally the best that there is, you know, from our, you know, with our very conscious bias around it, because he was the best player of our generation to play for Tottenham, you know, certainly in that role, it would be phenomenal. Like, it would be a complete game-changer. Tom's answered his own question, really, with that, like, breakdown of it.
34But there's nothing to be lost at all. And again, it's got nothing to do with money. Like, fuck the money. The money doesn't matter. Like, whose money? Who cares? What it would do for our legacy, what it would do for his legacy to come back and be the all-time Premier League goalscorer with Tottenham would be absolutely phenomenal. I'd be really surprised if he wasn't looking at this personally. I think there must be a large part of him that wants to come back. Do you think it's more likely, John, that he could come back, that we could make this happen, if we get Champions League football, if that is a provision, you can imagine it is, that he stages his career, he's going to want to play Champions League football, that it's more like Daniel Levy, because he isn't there, might likely to happen.
18Well, again, you hear loads of stuff, don't you? And you don't know what to believe. But from various different bits and pieces I've heard, including journalists talk about it, so you feel like hopefully they've got sources inside the club. The reason that Kane's been quite, not frosty, but maybe standoffish about Spurs on social media is because the whole Levy debacle, that he'd basically been given his word that if we got an offer, we'd accept it. and obviously when that didn't happen and the pushback and all the rest of it left a real sort of bitter taste in Kane and team Kane's mouth and that that would be one of the reasons why he wouldn't come back necessarily.
53So now that Levy's out of the picture and that sort of bad feeling is kind of embodied in Levy and that's now gone, there's definitely an opportunity, right? And if you're Van Katesham, that's exactly what you'd lean into. you'd lean into going like he failed you he's gone we want you back you are this club you are the history of this club you are you know everything that we want to build we want to kind of really bring this like to you we want to build this team around you we want to try and win something here with you at the helm I think that that's a really big emotional pull and we've seen it right like the reason that Kane signed a seven-year deal wasn't just about like the money right like there is an emotional connection to the club and in a way the way that he's acted kind of cold is because he's hurt because he cared and it pissed him off and it upset him and he felt like kind of underappreciated and undervalued and I kind of understand that so I think there's an opportunity for us to make that move and use that emotional pull and try and get him back and I agree with Nick like fucking who I'd pay what we got for him like he's as good now as he was then maybe maybe you could argue he's slightly better now.
06He's absolutely ridiculous. That Ballon d 'Or list, what was he, 13th on the list? I think he's the best player in the world currently. I think he's the best player in the world right now. And if in a year's time, he's still going to be one of the best players in the world. So pay whatever the fuck you have to do to get him and try and get him back. Because if it wasn't Harry Kane, if it was just a striker in the Bundesliga putting up these numbers, we would want to sign him and we'd go, will we never get him. This, we actually have a chance because we have this emotional pull. Interestingly, he played as a 10 in, I mean, it's the latest game.
41Who did they play in the Champions League? I can't remember who it was they played. I don't think it was anyone superb. They won convincingly, scored two more goals. Do you know who they played, anyone? Nah, I don't care. Fucking whoever it is. Oh, Pafos. But he played in the 10. Oh, yeah. And Jack... Oh, yeah, Pafos. Oh, yeah. Didn't even look half as... Sorry. Pafos. Yeah, it just left my head for a minute. Paphos, that's it. Paphos, in the Champions League? Yeah. Yeah, by a minute, beat Paphos 5-1 away from home. Kane scores twice. I can't remember. I don't even know how many fucking goals he scored this season already.
17But he played in the 10. And Nicholas Jackson played ahead of him. So, do that as well. He can do it all still, can't he? And he got to where he is by absolute determination, hard work and conditioning. and that's the other thing is he's future-proofing himself. He ain't got nothing else to do. He ain't going to end up like gabbering on Sky Sports with Neville or people like that, is he? Like, he just wants to play football and he's going to be able to play at a very high level for a long time, I would have thought, if he stays injury-free. He's the ultimate pro, isn't he? Like all the best players in the world.
52Didn't he? Good on him. Yeah. Yeah? Nah, actually. Nah, too much. It's too old. Yeah, it's too old. That was his fucking Stanley Matthews dick. 58 he was. He's still playing for Burnley at 58. He's like, mate, get alive. Milner's nearly 58, isn't he? Yeah, it's got to be. It's got to be. Not that KGB. Not that KGB. Why does Tell catch so much flack? What a strange name. Oh, no, not the KGB. You lot again. Not them. Not the KGB. Anyone but the KGB. Oh, them fuckers. Anyway, he says, Why does Tell catch so much flack when Oda Bear seems to get off scot-free? Both cost£30 million. Both are£20. Both are invisible for most of their time on the pitch.
42I don't think Oda Bear did cost£30 million. I think it was£25, and I think Tell's was£40. I don't want to fuck with a KGB, right? But I think the prices are slightly off. But I feel like Tell is coming for more flack than Oda Bear. Is that fair, John? Yeah, and I think it's a very simple case of how football fans put weight on a player. If you come from Burnley and you come from Bayern Munich, it don't matter if you're the biggest striker to ever play the game and you come in from Burnley and you scored a million goals for Burnley. No one cares. If you've come from Bayern Munich and you've been a bit part player, people expect you to be a fucking world beater because you've been at Bayern Munich.
26that's like simple football logic that is happening in real time in this case they're both young they're both french they're both playing fairly similar positions they're both okay granted the valuations are slightly different but not not massively right they're pretty similar and they've performed pretty similarly right at different times but they've both been pretty bad so the only difference is that one of them came from Bayern Munich so we automatically go well he was supposed to be good he was at Bayern and I think with both of these players it's just that again it's a simple case of this is actually less of them issue for me and this is more of a club and squad building issue we let go i say we let go we sold son probably at the right time i know he's ripping it up in the shit league and that's easy to go oh we should have kept him i think it was the right time um for everybody but we didn't adequately replace him right like odebert and tell shouldn't be our starting left wing choices and tell wouldn't be our starting nine choice so they're being sort of unfairly judged based on like they're supposed to be doing things that they're not really supposed to be doing right like they shouldn't be that type of player so I just feel it's a bit um yeah they're getting caught up in basically the situation that they find themselves in and I think basically the club and the recruitment team failed to find an adequate first choice left wing similar to Kudus that's who we should have had we should have had whoever's the equivalent to Kudus on the left.
52That's who we needed to sign and we didn't do it. And there's a couple of windows we needed that type of player that we haven't done it. So I feel they're just a victim of circumstance, basically. I was quite happy with that. I know we were going after Savinia and it's clear that they identified the fact that we needed that player. And it can't be denied that the club did go in for him in a big way. Do you know what I mean? I think we did everything we could to possibly make that deal happen. We were willing to pay up to€80 million. euros and Man City as is their right because he's registered to them for the next five years and just signed a new contract by the looks of it you know it's their right to reject any offer if they don't want to sell a player and that's what happened so I think we went bold in trying to buy him and he would have made a difference I can't say I was desperately unhappy with Tell being the option through the season but I think he isn't a number nine despite what's been said before I think he is a number we're going to get better performances playing out left than we we've seen through the number nine and he can make that work and you know frank has a track record as does cochran of developing young wide players and attacking players visser and buemo is a different player to the one you know who joined the premier league and that was pretty good work for thomas frank so it's all going to take time i think everyone just needs a bit more patience but i don't know we just can't seem to i well after the results i've have i take things particularly poorly and i don't know if it's got well i think it's got worse actually i'm getting worse as i get older but i do calm down and once i calm down i can kind of i'm much more philosophical about it and i think that tell might be okay.
35I think you've just got an understanding of when you'd be scapegoating a player, like for missing a penalty in a final and then needing a scapegoat, always needing a scapegoat, always needing someone to put those negative feelings in a time when otherwise the club was quite settled. I feel he could have come in at a different time six months before or a year afterwards and hit the ground running. But like John said, for me, it comes back to like depth and you know we didn't want someone like Grealish but he started the season pretty well for Everton he would have been like a mature pro who could have hugged that left touchline and done that job and Tell could have been coming on and Odeberg could have been sat even further in the squad depth and it might look completely different but it's just you're right it's just it's just reactionary it's not really helpful and I don't think it's accurate either I think there's a good player in there we just need to wait and give him opportunities I've got to bounce okay cheers mate thanks for doing that you're a legend big laugh boys cheers man and then there were two Gary Spurs 18 says I wonder how you came up with that username Flav you keep talking about Sunday Roasts and how good you are at making them I've said it once I think last week I can't remember mentioning Sunday Roasts before then have i done that was the first time you you were very proud of it i was the other time and do you know what i wouldn't have been proud unless my wife kept telling me how good it was there's no greater feeling than unsolicited positive feedback from a wife i don't think yeah agreed do you know what i mean and your your wife is actually quite she's actually quite hard to please yeah yeah so it has to be good like when was the last time she gave you proper praise john actually do you know what it's a good timing because i also made a nice dinner last night i made um a miso cod with tender stem broccoli and rice yesterday and i made the whole thing with that full ingredients prepared everything from scratch and she was so happy she even messaged me this morning saying thanks that was really really nice dinner i'm very thoughtful that's probably the sort of most recent compliment before that probably a couple of years So, you know, she does really wait until something good happens.

Gutes für alle. yeah women out there listening if you want to fill your man's heart up with good feeling and glee and warmth praise him if he does something good just you know i'm not even talking about give him a blowjob i'm literally just saying just say well done maybe like a bit of affection that kind of thing goes so far can't tell you um anyway yeah so uh and and you're also do something to deserve it the man should do something to deserve it like uh make me so cod um he goes on to say i thought you was a big veggie bastard what exactly does your roast include uh i i'm i'm not a big by big veggie bastard i'd imagine you mean i make it a point to say that i'm vegetarian and people around me shouldn't eat meat or i have any kind of fucking ethical conundrum at all i don't i don't i i cook me all the time all the time so in this instance i cooked a roast chicken but uh yeah and then they eat it but what i do do and this is how shit a vegetarian i am is ollie will make a gravy from the juices from the chicken which i also eat so i don't know but yours is a texture thing isn't it you don't like the now you just got basically used to not eating it so now the thought of eating meat nothing to do with the moral thing or anything so the gravy kind of makes sense because you you don't mind eating products that contain shit do you it's just yeah but i wouldn't like consciously even if it was mixed up i wouldn't like i like i when we have spaghetti bolognese at home they have a meat one i couldn't eat the meat one it's like it just smells horrible to me i don't know people love beats beef and minutes and and i understand it but to me it's like it's like an inbuilt revolt revulsion to it i don't know how it's i don't know how else to explain it but i don't i'm not like i wear leather trainers for example i'm not like here preaching i think it's like i wear leather trousers it's like i've never seen you wear a pair of leather trousers in my life but i am here for it i would fucking love that in the summer just absolutely swear you've got a strong look leather trousers even women can't pull it off I don't think it's not for me I don't think leather's a good look at all yeah it's a select look some people can't when was the last leather item not shoes that you ever owned did you ever have a leather jacket as a kid I did have a leather jacket as a kid black it was black and it was like a motorcycle one and the reason I had it my brother bought it for me second hand because I was obsessed with Terminator 2 so I used to ride round my garden on my BMX with a jacket on and a big stick that was like a shotgun.
47And then I was just sort of riding around, like pretending to be Terminator 2. So make it out what you will. Yeah, love it. When I was a kid, I had a tasseled suede jacket with tassels all the way down the arms. Yeah, that was a strong look. I loved it. I found it in a, it was like in a vintage clothes shop. I was about eight years old. And I loved that jacket so much. I wore it everywhere. I must look like a proper little G in this sort of cowboy's tassel jacket. Brown suede. That jacket now would be such a good look. Like that's big time in. I don't know if I'd be, I'd be scared now, mate, to do that.
23Mate, I think you'd pull it off. I think you, that with the leather trousers. Tassel jackets are in. Mate, come on. Suede jackets are in. The tassel just adds, yeah, yeah, big time. That just adds another dimension. Then pair it with your lovely leather trousers. Leather chaps, even better. Oh, yeah. Think about it, mate. Just think about it. No, I will. I will think about it. I'm not going to dismiss it out of hand for sure. So, Justin Bisou says, since we are now on our sixth manager where our players just crumble into dust when under the slightest bit of pressure, what is your favourite wet sponge?
53Dead fish or chocolate teapot? I don't know what that means, wet sponge. Come on, Justin. It's not that bad. We don't just crumble under the slightest bit of pressure. We've been under pressure this season and we didn't crumble. We're under pressure against Manchester City to hold on to that two-goal lead. We've controlled the game. Also, we've come back in the last two games. That's the opposite, isn't it? It's like we haven't started well. We haven't been good. It's just the start. We're eight games in. Just the start, mate. Everyone chill out. Relax. We've lost one game. We've lost one. One.
30We lost one game. We scored 11 goals in the Premier League. Two Champions League games. One League Cup game. And six League games. And we've lost one of those. second best defence in the league I think it was mate this is what I'm saying like it's just we've got to take a little bit of perspective here like the performances aren't where they need to be I think everyone accepts that even Frank probably but this is way more promising to me than playing really well and getting fuck all like this is the ideal scenario is you play well and you get what you deserve right and that's what the best teams do but if you can't play well and you need to pick up like results what's the thing they always say a sign of a good team when they're not playing well, they still pick up results.
11We're literally doing that and everyone's fuming about it. I don't get it. I get if we're in March and we're still playing this kind of like, we can't attack and we kind of overperforming next year and it's all a bit of a myth. We can have a conversation then, but let him get in. He's got to get on the training ground and coach these players and they've got to build chemistry and he's basically, what he's done is come in and he's like, right, how do we pick up points and make these a lot hard to beat to start? Rule one, let's not let's stop shipping goals right okay well that that's achieved so thus far we're not shipping goals anymore we're nothing like what we were step two we have to build out an attacking plan that is effective with the players that we have so let him give it a go yeah it's like it's like we've we've got a brand new house right and we've been decorating it for years and it's never quite what we wanted so we're like right let's draw a line under this let's get a proper painter and decorator to come in who knows how to do all sorts of different rooms that could do the whole house exactly how we want it right we interview him and he goes yeah look it's going to take me six to eight months to get it to its base level and in a year it'll be perfect every room will be painted exactly how you wanted it everything will be decorated exactly how you like and a week into it he's not even finished doing the first base coat of the downstairs lounge and we're coming in going this is fucking shit mate why isn't it finished why isn't it perfect why isn't the whole house decorated it's it takes time like i can't really understand it's so early it's so you say that weirdly you said that like the the build i've got this brilliant builder he's amazing right he's really really helped me it's expensive you know doing stuff in the house is really expensive but generally i couldn't have done it without this bloke and i can i was still in the middle of it and you know still costing a fortune but he just you know when you you meet someone they're like don't worry we can do that oh can you like we want to put a staircase yeah it's gonna be a bit fiddly but don't worry leave it with us i'm like oh my god that's brilliant um but he put up some paneling and i was like oh god i don't like the paneling but too much of it's up now can't take that back down i mean can but i can't afford to take it down so uh that's it this is the paneling and then when it finished when the paint went on i was like that looks sensational.
25There you go. There you go. That's our defensive solidity is the panels. Currently we're going, it's a bit boring, isn't it? A bit fucking, a bit defensive. Wait until the panels are painted, boy. If you want a way to spend loads of fucking money, get a wife that wants paneling. It's so expensive. Yeah. What do you want the Alcatraz? You want the, you know, coving, you want the, what do you call it? Those beading, you want beading, yeah, yeah, all right, we want that to do. Great. do about that we got parquet flooring in this house do you think that was something that i grew up going one day i want parquet flooring no i i found a woman who would marry me who decided yes i want that it does expensive flooring i love that it looks great it looks great this is what i mean this is yeah and and and like it was like do you want what what way do you want to put it in because obviously this way is you know it's straight and flat cheap cheap cheap cheap as you made to do it oh herringbone oh you want to do it okay so that every single tile has to be cut at the end okay how many more days is that two or three days okay anyway i'm not bitter or angry about it at all yeah this is this is like people listening to this going well they're really positive about spurs they fucking hate their wives no no no i i i adore her this isn't i look she's uh she's got away and i this is our one opportunity to get this right when the house is empty and uh you know she eventually all looked fantastic it's just it's hard sometimes because gotta find the money uh speaking of which tido says i'm getting married on saturday father-in-law is a leeds fan oh uh matches during the ceremonies not from leeds by rights but he should he should by rights he should follow a london team if leeds win it will ruin my life and marriage.
15Never good enough for daddy's little girl. Mate, that was a tough one. When I was getting married, it was going to be Spurs and Man City and I was going to have to find a way to screen it. But luckily, the Queen died and I didn't have to deal with it. That was lucky. Yeah, I was buzzing. They said, what, you've got, they've got to cancel the football because the Queen died. And I was like, I don't have to figure out this whole screening of the football and watching Spurs get battered by City on my wedding day. brilliant I mean I'm sad for the Queen and their family and that but it worked out for me yeah I mean I I planned our wedding for the summer of a non-world cup year or euro it's what you should do like I don't really have any if I'm if I'm honest mate I'm really sorry but I have actually zero sympathy you get married in the middle of the premier league season on a Saturday the chances are it's going to be a game um you could have planned ahead you could have gone for an international break you didn't you didn't i get it but you've got a you've got to just take that hell i'm afraid uh it's your boy says can flab invest in a mute button so we don't have to hear him coughing up his rim piece every time someone else talks mate i it's smoking i've got to stop smoking basically and when i quit for four months at the beginning this year the cough went away um but uh smoking is bad for your lungs kids as you know and i i do need to quit I was listening to you do a fantastic general football pod with yeah the last one coughing up mate I was listening to it and I was cracking up because I was like Dan was fighting for his life trying to ask you a question he just sounded like you were dying in the corner he's going and he's like filling for time because you're just like completely just absolutely gone and I was going to message you going mate you have to do something about that please please stop smoking yeah yeah I will stop smoking.
11I just fucking love it. That's the problem. That's the problem. What else to say? Sifster said, really enjoyed the lab's sport washing episode. Cheers, mate. Do you think Frank focused on defending is why we're so bad in attack currently? We kind of answered that. I think it's all going to come. It'll all be fine. Stumps flying. Flavio, as a fan of the podcast, going back to the Sherwood days, I've noticed you have a tendency of using whimsical analogies involving former relationships that either shone bright and flickered out or that never got going at all. Many a time I've listened to, as you wonder out loud, memories of what ifs in a tangent from a very important public debate going on in the world about Harry Winks' legacy or Sebastian Besson being extremely underrated.

01One could say you share a similarity to fellow football connoisseur Taylor Swift. my question is as you i've never been so confused uh my question is as you have in recent years found public fame and that and that extends the spurs community have you considered branching out from the football scene into the musical scene i don't know if you have the range of james blunt but in future if a future number one single about heartbreak centers on injuries that robbed us from seeing Wilson Palacios and Victor Wanyama in their primes for longer. I think I know who would have written their song. That's the end.
41Wow. That feels like ChatGPT wrote that. So if you're a human and you've written that, that's impressive. You've made it seem… That is pretty good. That is pretty good. ChatGPT. Yeah, it is strange. Can I type that into ChatGPT and find out if ChatGPT wrote it? Does that work? Give it a go. Just copy and paste it and just go, I don't want to embarrass this guy. Well, that's not the intention. I'm just curious if you've managed to write it like that. If anything, you're a far better superior writer. Well, I actually put some time into writing it, writing something. So we had to increase the price of Patreon recently.
19And I put time and thought into writing what I thought was a heartfelt piece about not wanting to increase the price, but having to, given the situation. and someone just went, this is a lot of chat GPT in here and I was like, it fucking ain't. I actually put time into this. I might as well not have done if you think it is. Yeah, this is the problem now, isn't it? Everyone's just chat GPT and everything so now everyone's suspicious of anything that you write. Like when I send someone a bit more detailed WhatsApp message, if it's longer than just a couple of lines, I get that I now am paranoid that people think it's like that so I just throw in a few extra swear words just to let them know it's me.
55Definitely me. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Um, apparently M dashes, that's chat. GPT quite likes M dashes, which are not common. People don't use them. They're like the long dash. It's very, it's not often used. So, uh, be wary of that. Um,
18uh, snuffle says snog, marry and kill except snog, marry and kill. It's date your sister, date your daughter, date your mom. so do you want date your daughter, date your sister, date your mum Basuma, Karl Walker and Daniel Levy I want Levy to date mum get married and then we inherit it Karl Walker is a bit of a shagger isn't he so if you'd probably date your sister right because you definitely don't want Karl Walker dating your daughter nah so it's Bersuma date your daughter Carl Walker date your sister and Levy date your mum yeah I maybe go my mum's used to betrayal from men so I might get her to go with Carl Walker and then go Levy with my sister just so that he's like you know a bit closer in terms of like a peer group right if he's dating your mum he's going to take on more of a fatherly thing if he's like your sort of brother-in-law then you're more likely to be pally and bit like laughing.
24I might be able to go, lend us a couple of mil, Dan. Would you like? You know what I mean? And then, yeah, presumably just, I mean, I don't have kids, so it's, I don't care. It's a moot point. Yeah. Okay, John, well, that'll do for the Q &A podcast on Thursday. If you want more of the Fighting Cock stuff, then become a patron, patreon.com forward slash the Fighting Cock. Not only is there previews, not only is there an instant match reaction, depending on how bad a defeat or a performance it is.
