In short
A wide-ranging episode mixing sponsor ads, off-topic banter, and mainly Tottenham Hotspur analysis. The core sports discussion centers on Thomas Frank’s early tenure: Spurs are “hard to beat” and defensively stable, but struggle to create and score, with fans growing impatient.
Guest backgrounds
No guests are clearly identified in the transcript; it’s primarily a host-and-cohost style conversation.
Key claims
Spurs’ defensive partnership (Benton/“Benton Corr” and Paulina/“Pelinha”) is solid, but the gap to the forward line is “gargantuan.” The press is too easy to play through (Villa passed it around). Vicario is questioned on early long shots. Archie Gray is discussed as a potential solution, possibly as a fullback or even future center-back, but not yet a midfield fix. Injuries (Romero, Solanke, Madison, Kulusevski, etc.) explain some attacking issues; January reinforcements are expected.
Notable examples
Villa’s game where Spurs lost the ball repeatedly under pressure; a nil-nil vs Monaco/Leeds context; long-range shot examples involving Vicario; discussion of Richarlison being “non-existent.”

1:08I recently got back from a holiday in Bilek in Turkey. It was brilliant, but I did spend it looking longingly at the golf courses in the area. In reality, if I'd taken my clubs, I probably would have come back from that family holiday single. It's a brilliant place, stunning beaches, five-star hospitality in some of the best hotels on earth. but for me just getting out on those courses would have been the icing on the cake. Search Turkey on TripAdvisor now to book your ultimate golf holiday in the Turkish Riviera. It's the fighting. It's the fighting. Cock! It's the fighting. It's the fighting.
1:55Cock! A camel shirt! No! it's flat so he doesn't judge me I my favourite thing in the world would be if one of you lot got caught wanking on a webcam it's not it's not embarrassing it is embarrassing but it shouldn't be if you own everything hard enough it doesn't matter, Tom Garrett got away with wanking off one of his mates yeah you'd have to own it otherwise it's just I think he and he did brilliantly that's loads of friendship groups we've all done that stuff like that what you've never wanked off a mate what kind of freak are you what type of massive homo are you if you've not if you've not jiggled it about scared to not do it exactly I do wonder about the guy who gets his cock out like what was that thought process how did he get to that stage we used to do it all the time honestly when I lived with Craig Jason and Percy they would go I had no money at that time and they all had like quite uh labor intensive but kind of cash on the hip friday afternoon type jobs yeah so they go out into bristol on a saturday night like i'd wake up at two o 'clock in the morning and i'm genuinely i'm not joking the three of them would be of some at some point just got naked and they just actual like wrestling like one big ball of meat of three of them together just rolling around like like a You know when three people in a cartoon fight and it turns into a ball and you just see the odd hand stick out there?
3:30That's what it just used to be. I remember waking up at 2 o 'clock in the morning and going into Jason's room and I was like, what the fuck are you doing? And it was just the three of them trying to grab each other's... They had put sellotape on their nipples with a long piece of paper and you had to rip it off the other person. So it was just... But the funny thing about this, what if you shared the video of Tom Garrett thinking this is going to end him. He just says, okay, what? You feel like a right kind of... If you leaked it yourself, and the player says, okay, what? I did it. What do you do to that?
4:04What is the motive of someone who does share something like that? You've got a video. It's like that Colomawani and Paul Pogba. Is it Paul Pogba? No, I think it's Saliba. No, it was Saliba. Sorry, Saliba and Colomawani. Whereas Saliba, they're in the changing room. It might not be Colomawani. The story is that it is Colomawani, and I've worked at it a couple of times and I'm just, look, I'm being completely honest. There's not a racist bone in my body. I think it's him. It looks like him. It might not be. Right? He's wanking off in the dressing room in front of everybody. But the whole team are there.
4:38Saliba's there. His captain's right next to him. Saliba's filming him having a tug. It went on Snapchat though, didn't it? That's the issue here. It's not like someone leaked it. It went on Snapchat. At least that's my understanding of it. Yeah, and then Saliba's looking and going, that is quality, I'm going to send that. See, yeah, yeah. What I think's happened, right, is that, like, the older people I know, like our age, would be like, that's quite funny, fair play, yeah. Just own it, that's all right, don't matter. It'll make no difference to us. No. I think the younger the people are now, the more of an issue that they're going to have with...
5:12More prudish. Yeah. So basically, just wank your mates off, it's fine. If you haven't wanked, I mean, not all the way, but if you haven't had at least a little... like jiggle around vinegar do you know do you know what do you know what Thomas Frank and Tottenham remind me of at the moment it's like you know your missus has sexy underwear but she keeps wearing her big pants and you're getting down to it and you're like I wonder what she's got on under there and it's the comfy pants is it as long as you're comfortable are you and I want you to be comfortable yeah like 1999 99 % of the time, big pants are fine.
5:51But sometimes you just want to let, you know, show yourself off. Yeah. And that's, that was kind of what I was thinking on like 60 minutes when we had mounted a significant attack. Show yourself off a bit, Spurs. Frank, show us what you can do. Show a bit of leg. I don't want to see the big pants anymore. I want to see some sort of frilly knickers. Completely agree. Completely agree. I mean, I was reading a book about, it's actually fictional, but it's about migrant dinghies. And obviously it's a bit sad, some parts of the book. But I think I've got more pleasure out of reading that than watching large spells of the game.
6:28You know, watching distressed families, you know, die in the channel. It was a fictional story, so it's fine. I can make a sort of semi-joke about it. I mean, based on fiction, though, T. Pretty much based on fiction. It's based on real life, but I just thought I probably got more out of that. I don't know, it is frustrating and I think we've had so many managers we've tried all the approaches, we've tried to go in on them straight away we've tried to have a bit of patience to make excuses for them and it feels like we're kind of in that stage of Thomas Frank but there's so many mitigating circumstances there's a 17th place finish last season and the amount of games we lost he's trying to kind of rebuild confidence but I think Fled, you've said multiple times that we are a top 16 and that squad is capable of finishing there.
7:13So I guess if we fall anywhere short of that, then it's going to be angry fans.
7:21Yeah, I, it's, I mean, the one we've sent out requests for questions and we've had one lad whose name is Frank Out. Maybe there's something about Mary fan. Love football fans. They've turned on him already, some of them. And it looks like what we thought, Alex, that we'd escaped this sort of world where everyone was hating each other to now, well, it's already begun. Ten games in, Frank's reign, get him out, he says. Just get him out. It's a nice you can rely on. There's not much you can rely on in this world, but you can rely on football fans to kind of lose it a bit after, you know, a month of liffiness.
8:03Lose hope immediately. Like, if he was on a rubber dinghy and you're like, you just the plane had just crashed and you just fashion this rubber dinghy and you're out at sea within about six hours he's drinking salt water isn't he it's just like no it's pointless this is pointless we're not going to get saved i'm going to kill myself as quickly as possible by drinking this salt water um yeah and the other solution here it's a frank out javi in which i presume he means what's the name of the psg manager oh Enrique who is it then the Barcelona legends see what's a Barcelona lad in like that I'm going back to where I was at before and saying that Thomas Frank is creating a hard to beat team and eventually it'll be a bit more sexier than it is right now that he's confident if we play but had Paolini and Bentancore in that midfield together that the likelihood is that we won't lose.
9:10But that's not... The frustration is coming from... That's not how you live, is it? That's not... You can't just go, oh, let's just not... I'm not sure it's even that. I think last night... I think if it had been like... If Monaco had had the same amount of chances as we'd had, I think people would have been like, okay, fucking hell. I want some nice underwear. but all right, fine. Their XG must have been what, about 8? 2.5, I checked earlier. Yeah. It's high, 2.5 is very high. Yeah, and it's not like, so it's not like, oh yeah, Christ, they couldn't even break us down. They could break us down, but they just couldn't finish and Riccario made some amazing saves.
9:56And like I said, they've scored loads of goals, so I kept hearing, and they couldn't score past us and they've conceded loads of goals and we couldn't score. So that game pretty much, that nil-nil, maybe not the performance, but the result pretty much summed up where we are right now, where we are harder to beat. All right, last night they probably should have won, but we definitely, definitely are harder to beat. But we also can't score any goals. So it's just about which one you feel comfortable. It's like, I don't think it's that bad. and I think I'm aware of the fact that if this had been Postacoglu, I don't know what the fuck is going on but I am willing to give him as much time as he needs because I just know and have seen and there's evidence that he actually knows what he's doing.
10:50My issue with Postacoglu was that I don't believe you know what you're doing and you are out of your depth and it's turned out you know, forest thing aside, I think that's the same thing. So I don't want to give him time. Whereas Frank will get my trust for as long as he wants it. I think that the, I think the key, if you're looking at Spurs, I think the key is that Ben Senko and Paulina partnership. And like I say, defensive stability is there, although yesterday we should have got beat, but the, the, the gap between them two and the forward line is just, it feels gargantuan at times. and it's not like he must they i mean they're really intelligent football people like frank knows his stuff he clearly knows his stuff cochran you know much heralded his his reputation and the work that he's done previously they know they're not not seeing what we're seeing right so they must be working on how to make it better i hope they are unless this is this is what frank want this is the final form of frank which it can't be right it's not this isn't the way he has played football previously.
11:54It is the way he's played football previously, but not in the entirety of his managerial career. So, do you understand the frustrations, T? Do you like, do you, do you, are the fans that are kind of moaning about his style of play too impatient and, you know, he needs more time to, to instil a more attacking style of play and this is just a start. Let's be difficult to beat to begin with, become solid, know our roles and then the attacking side of it will come. Yeah, I mean, what you're saying is correct. I think the, I guess some of the issues is kind of what he says in the interviews. He doesn't kind of indicate that, oh, I've taken over a team low on confidence.
12:35I want to make a tough to beat. It's not really said that. It's kind of said, oh, there was enough intensity and I don't know why. He plays over number 10, but doesn't seem to want to get the number 10 on the ball a lot. I think I might have seen an image from Sunday where Zabby was just being bypassed the entire game. no one's given him the ball and I think Bergwell was at 10 yesterday wasn't he and I forgot it was playing until he gave the ball away on the 40th minute I just think if you are going to play over number 10 you've really got to get them on the ball as much as possible so they can at least dictate stuff in the final third just play 4-4-2 if you're going to deny that then just play 4-4-2 get the crosses in the mix big men little men end off you know what I mean but it feels like we're trying to play football but you're not giving the player who's going to be the match I'm going to control stuff I'm not giving him the ball you've got to find a way of if you're going to sign someone like Xavi Seamans then he just has to have the ball he's not as good without it I mean he was decent defensively on Sunday but he needs to be on the ball in dangerous positions to make something happen and thus far his form has been patchy but I think the Leeds game was probably his best performance and that was a transitional game but again he had a lot of the ball and he just needs that I mean, Madison is somewhat similar.
13:51He's a bit less dynamic than Siemens. But I think the fundamental issue there is that you've got Benton, Cor and Perlino, and they're just passing the ball sideways. And, yeah, I think we need someone who's going to take a few more risks in that position, especially at home. How good was Vacario, by the way, yesterday? Amazing. Without him, it could have been – because I know he gets thick, and I've given him stick and stuff like that. But credit where it's due. and it was like they could have had four or five. Yeah, there was two real. I mean, the one-on-one down to his left is really close to his body.
14:26I thought the one that kind of came across was kind of good reactions, but it was kind of straight at him. But no, he's, you know, did his job. Yeah, he's a shot stopping. Like that's what we know he is good at, you know. So when there's games like that, that's great. But again, you're right. It could have been four or five. I just last night was disappointing but I'm willing to forgive almost any away performance after us having the type of results that we've had away from home in the last what, two years I'm at a point now and I think the Premier League is at a point now I know it's the Champions League last night but I think football has moved more in a direction where the result is the be all and end all now, you know, the performances and the more that we're seeing of long throws and you know set piece kickoffs you know even this type of stuff is happening more and more now so away performances are literally just about the result for me I don't care if it's good bad indifferent lucky I don't care but at home as T says yeah there's gonna have to come a point where he's where he's he acts like he's not at Brentford anymore and it was my only my only reservation about Frank is and was and I said this from the beginning is how long it would take him to be in the mindset of a you know I don't like the phrase either but it is what we are is a big six club of being in that mindset particularly in home games against teams that we should be beating how quickly does he roll into that mindset where you know right we go and win this now we don't stick for a draw type of mindset and that might just be something that just has to come I'm sure he doesn't think like that constantly, but it might just be almost like a second nature at times.
16:10So I'm interested to see how that goes. The frustration I had on Sunday was how rubbish our press was. Villa passed around it so easily. He talks a lot about intensity, but the press is a big part of being an intense team. And it just seemed very, very easy to pass around. But these are all things that, you know, us laymen can see, and he surely sees it too. And I'm sure he's got enough going on between his ears to try and fix it. We've got two games a week between now and the next international break next month. So there's time to fix it. But I think the squad is better than those home results, at least.
16:50It just feels like, I don't know, it felt like Emery just kind of knew what he needed out of that game. And the concern of Vicaria, even though yesterday kind of disproves it a little, is I feel it's a little bit Paul Robinson with long shots. If they shoot early, he doesn't always seem to get down. The Leeds goal was a similar kind of long-range shot, but it was early. And he powered it into the direction of Okafor, who puts it in. Villa, two kind of speculative shots, early shots, and he wasn't there. So maybe teams are seeing that Vicario from range, if you shoot early, it doesn't set his feet up.
17:26I don't know. Maybe it's something for him to work on. I was quite encouraged by Archie Gray yesterday. I feel like, I know he's playing out of position again for about the 50th time in his Spurs career. Left back this time. And I think there was definitely some chemistry issues between Odebeer and Gray. There was a couple of times Odebeer could have played him in and didn't and decided to cut inside, which is sort of his style of play. But, you know, they've never played a competitive side in that sort of positional sense before and Gray being behind him. so there's some of that in there but I just think like we're getting closer and closer to a time where Archie Gray needs to start for Spurs I think and I think that he potentially will be able to bridge the gap between this defensive midfield or the Benton Carl Rock Benton Carl roll and getting the ball up but what is it that we need in that middle of it he will because I've seen people say this and I was impressed with him last night I thought he did really well um really well but my feeling keeps coming back is that I think he's actually going to, I think he's actually a really decent fullback and will end up being a really good centre-back.
18:34I just don't see it in the middle. And I think, but what is his strength that will, and this is a genuine question now, what is his strength that will give us something that Benton Court doesn't give us to the level that we need it? Well, I think Benton Court's the big issue. Maybe what Benton Corr's been asked to do is the big issue here. I think he's quicker, more direct, and more composed than Benton Corr is. On the ball? Yeah. More composed? I don't know about the ball. All I see is Benton Corr loose passes and miscontrols. There's parts, not all I see. I see good parts in his play as well.
19:18But we cannot continue. Well, we can continue. This could just be it, right? We could be hoping to potentially, you know, pick up points by one goal margins and maybe look for a sort of season that is fortuitous to us in the same way that Forrest was last year. A lot of narrow wins for them. And this is it, right, in the short term. This is what Tottenham will be. And actually with Solanke coming in when he's fit, you'll have two target men rather than just having kudos and, you know, barely a footballer in the number nine. You know, at least Stelanke comes in and can actually do something. I think Gray, it just, in the few times I've seen him, I like the idea, or at least I want to see it.
20:06I don't know if it'll work, but I want to see it where he is allowed a bit of freedom and given permission to carry in midfield. The biggest problem against Villa, they press brilliantly. we couldn't get out the amount of times we lost the ball in our own half against Villa it was just insane but then you think well what's the option you're pumping it long to tell or pumping it long to Richarlison and you're like that's never going to stick it's got a stick hasn't it and I think Kudos is the only one I said in the group Kudos Kudos could be if we need something to stick up there I wouldn't be averse to sticking him through the middle because at least when he gets his back against the defender he actually is able to chest it down and it stays there for 8 seconds before it comes rocketing back to us.
20:52It might be able to get some people around them. I wouldn't be massively adverse to it. I mean, he played through the middle for West Ham. It's not like he can't do that. I think Richarlison was literally non-existent yesterday. Tell, you know my feelings on Tell. Odober, I thought, was better. But again, I'm still looking for that. Cole didn't play yesterday. No, no, I'm just saying in general. Oh, right. Our options. About our front line. You know, it's just easy to forget that, you know, there's no Kuliseski, there's no Solanke, there's no Madison, you know, and I'm guilty of forgetting that a little bit.
21:29And so there's time for that to come in. I think it's a fair point, but have Gray being able to be given the chance because at home, because we can see what, we've had enough evidence of Benton Kerr and Polina together. So we should be able to do that against a team we should be beating, you know. you know, a bottom half of the table team. And then see what it is. And hopefully I'm wrong. And hopefully he is everything that, you know, when Kane suddenly started getting runs up front and actually doing it, maybe it's the same for Archie Gray. I don't know. I mean, you know, Archie Gray, Golden Boy nominee.
22:04I got told off last time I coded him off, so I'm not going to go too hard on him. But I think he's got, I think he does have a big, a big future in football. And I've kind of mellowed on him a lot. and I think it could be given an opportunity there I think Saar is probably the one who's missed out a lot in all this because Saar was played as the number 10 before Zavi came along and it seems like it's either Zavi or Saar or Bergvot at the number 10 when I believe that Saar and Bergvot could probably be alongside Pelinha and move the ball forward in that position and Nachi Gray well I think I think there's a lot of potential there I thought yesterday he played really well at left back and probably also speaks to how the manager sees Spence he just sees him as just a one-to-one specialist and when Spence first arrived at Spurs we just thought he was just this like ball of a fullback he just pushes forward but he's just someone who's just really, really good at one-on-ones and I guess I can't talk about Spence without addressing my previous Pedro Poirot point I do stand by what I said about Poirot defensively that he does scare me defensively Having said that, he's probably the best playmaking fullback in the Premier League and massively important player.
23:21And he's a big part of starting our attacks. I mean, I think there was one amazing pass to Odebeer, which unfortunately Odebeer miscontrolled. But it's just a sign of what Paul has had the vision to see Odebeer available. And I think Odebeer is going to grow a lot this season. He's been given a lot of opportunities by Frank. And I like to see it. He's very positive. and I don't know, I feel that there is a player and he just needs to have that confidence to just take the piss with four-backs and just embarrass him and get the crosses in. But he's definitely getting there, Odebe. I kind of feel like, obviously, until January, that's his position, just let him play.
23:58Unless he's injured or you need to keep him for... Obviously, we're going to be playing games every three days, so you can't just play him in every game. And, you know, Tell will be the option if it isn't him. But it's just like, OK, look, there's a player in there, for sure. he's raw and um the level up from under 21s where he absolutely kills it every time for France obviously they have every advantage and they're playing a much lower standard and generally a much sort of weaker opposition but you see the player in him I think it's just like minutes in time let him get comfortable in the side he is our option until he has to prove it he has to take the opportunity now in the next between now and January if that is a position we are going to look to move and if that 100 million pound coming in is um it's going to be used on players that isn't 100 million pound and that you can just like oh okay well that's 250 million pound players that's not how it works 100 million pound money pumped in that can be amortized across five years so effectively that could be five 50 million pound players uh if they're amortized over five years So each one being 10 million to start with.
25:11So it's not necessarily just, we've got a hundred million pounds to spend on players. We know now that that's not how transfers work. And now payment of transfer work. Anyway, the point is, we have money to spend in January. Whether they'll use that to buy a left winger, I'm not sure. Probably will because how desperately they want it to Vino. What about Moani though? I mean, I thought Moani did well when he came on.
27:34Nine. Yeah. Okay, fine. Yeah. If that's the case, then great. I don't want to be seeing Odober on the bench. Sorry, Odober starting with Moani on the bench and Richarlison starting on front or tail. Like, I hope that's where he is seen to be going in as a nine and not as a, I don't mind him as a winger, but I'll be mad if he's on the bench and Odober is starting. What were you, like when the team sheets come in when you say you've been mad I was not happy that Marani was on the bench last night I was like what is the point you might not be fit but what go on just like imagine I'm your wife I'm sitting next to your missus oh wow I don't do anything for God's sake I don't want to I don't want anyone to talk to me about football nowadays I just sit in in silence I just groan mate my dad my dad I was sitting with me old man and he'll be like trying to talk to me during the game and that's what I'm there for right we're supposed to be experiencing this together and I just don't say anything I just sit there and stare at the television like I know do you know what it's really bad because on Sunday I invited my mate Anthony who used to come to 1882 stuff with us all the time and comes with me to the socials so he came over because I had the little ones so he bought his little ones and we kind of sent them away so that we could watch the football in peace but I forgot I haven't watched football with anyone for fucking ages, like just sat on a sofa like watching football and I was like, like we would come, we were both like having a conversation knowing that we're trying to watch the game but we also both know that we can't just sit there.
29:08You can't sit there for 90 minutes without saying anything. And I was, maybe that's why after Villa, I was far less angry after Villa than everyone else and maybe it's because I wasn't just sat there on my own, in my own juices. It's so difficult watching football, watching Spurs on your own in a room and and I understand there's no one to vent. So naturally you'll go on social media and you'll just say the worst stuff, the worst version. You'll be so angry. I've dropped in the WhatsApp groups a couple of times to go after a couple of players. So angry, so fury and venom and unnecessary language, actually.
29:46That's fun though. It gets it out. It gets the poison out. And then you feel a bit better and then you can just watch the game again. and like because on the patreon we have um so i'll do five statements which is essentially what i'd like it to be is the final whistle goes i'll jump on the computer we'll give you 10-15 minutes of what i'm thinking what i'm thinking on full time isn't no one's going to want to listen to that shit he's shit he's shit he's a wanker he's fucking shit fuck thomas frank fuck fuck them all like that and then i calm down a little bit and i wake up the next morning i'm like actually i can have a sensible conversation about this now but that's my favorite ones though the real personal ones i got absolutely nothing to do with football like fucking ugly prick you get him out i fucking hate his guts i every fiber of that man it's good that's why like and i said we all get all sensitive with each other but we're all doing the same thing we're all just getting the poison out yeah i want to get my poison out i don't want to listen to your poison that's the thing that's what it's all about really this is why this is why I have to lock the group the minute the whistle goes I can't deal with what's happening in my own head I can't take your lot's stuff as well you'd have been pleasantly surprised I think we were all very I think we were kind of cheerleaders last night I thought we all did very well really I I you know it's bad you know when no one's enjoying it or even cause to move when in my brother's WhatsApp group there's not a single message there wasn't one so true there wasn't one message from minute one to minute 90 not a single message I was like Jesus that must have been poor that's happened a few times after Chelsea or Arsenal games where we've just all as a group decided like that didn't happen nothing that just didn't exist today yeah I mean look if you think look at our injuries as well and I know we're always talking about injuries but look this is significant Destiny Doggy out Romero out Now, Persumas now had his operation.
31:51I don't know if he counts as a first-team footballer anymore. Dominic Solanke, Dragerson, Davies, James Madison, Kulusevsky. It's like three of those back. I genuinely do think like, you know, I'm not saying that we're going to be playing a brand of football that everyone's going to get everyone off their seats and we're going to be super excited about in the short term. But I do think when Solanke comes back, you'll see a more productive outlet that we'll be able to go long over the press. And you've got essentially two target men. You've got Kudus and you've got Solanke. And we know Solanke can hold the ball up.
32:23You know he's good at bringing other players in. And as long as he's fit, I think that will be an outlet. Yeah, I think if we can stumble along to January in the process of getting Solanke back, making sure that Kulaseski is going to be ready kind of late January, early February. And hopefully Romero is not a big deal. doggy's back and everyone else stays fit. It's a lot of ifs. But... And then if there is money to spend in January and we go and we try and find a deep-lying playmaker and a left-winger, then it's almost like you can kind of get all excited all over again. If we're like ninth, but we've been touching distance of top six, are you cool with that?

33:08Yeah. Maybe it's because I've swung so far the other way, but I'm just so happy that there's a grown-up in charge, that he can have as much time as he wants to put it, to go through whatever it needs to go. You've got to give him time. You've got to give him time, Alex. You're right. I mean, as much time as he likes is... There's an end of the thread, isn't there? There's a point where you go, alright, maybe not, but not yet. This is the start of a journey that's going to take a while. Do you know where the frustration is coming from, I think? It's been so long now in the Premier League where managers come in and they've got a philosophy, a very clear this is how I play football, this is what he's going to play Frank hasn't got that because he is so adaptable and does all the talk at the beginning was he adapts to the opposition, it's why his record against the big six is so good so there's not something that we're sat there waiting to happen, like with Postacoglu we saw it straight away and then after the 10 games when it disappeared forever then we were like well where the fuck is it we're waiting for it to come back, oh when so and so is fit, when he's fit, when he's signed, we're waiting for it to come back and that we haven't got that with Frank because there isn't something to wait for.
34:16It's just going to be, like you say, about developing stronger relationships, being tougher to beat, waiting for that chemistry to come along, whether that's through returning players, coaching or new signings. And patience is frustrating, man. Yeah. And football fans historically don't have it. They don't have patience. Any. They are fucking funny though. we are the most funny type of sports fan base. T, do you think there's anything in it that when Frank speaks, he just, he doesn't, he seems to look for all the positives and will acknowledge but kind of dismiss the negatives. Does that, do you think that irritates people?
34:57Is that even true? That was my, sounds like you. Yeah, I'll admit that I don't, I don't watch his press conferences is at length, I only see little sound bites. And he does try and see the positives. I mean, even in the Villa game, he's like, well, you know, we shouldn't have lost. I'm like, bloody hell, come on, man. We fucking did, though. It's not one of those. It's not like we hit the post and it's not like when, back in the day when Tim Krud is making 20 saves. You know what I mean? It's not like one of those games. So I get the frustration with that. And I don't know, I guess he, I mean, do we want the manager who looks like they're going to die when we lose the game?
35:36doing what I managed to is kind of just calm and serene the whole time because you know we're we're throwing phones across living rooms and punching pillows and he's just like if he had no intensity um I don't know fucking oh man what are you doing but that is that that is better than like just looking like someone who's about to cry or have a tantrum or just can't even look at the camera yeah but you'd love it you'd love it can you you'd love a minute You've got five minutes without referencing Postacoglu. I know. I don't. I'm so bad. I fucking hate him. I know you do. I know. You made it clear.
36:10People everyone knows. But it is better than that. Yeah, it is better than that. This is a good time to, if you want to block Alex out every time he thinks about or talks about Postacoglu, if you'd install NordVPN on this podcast, you could block Alex out whenever you wanted. to get the best discount off your nordvpn plan go to nordvpn.com forward slash fighting cock you get four extra months on a two-year plan if you're watching sports events tv shows anything that's geo lots in your region then you can quickly switch to the region where the content is available and it just takes a couple of seconds there's no buffering no lagging issues when streaming.
36:52It stops your ISP, which is interesting, right? It stops your ISP from bottlenecking your bandwidth. So there's this misconception that you own your own internet. If you live on a street, you own your own internet. You're sharing that internet with everybody in that street and your ISP will bottleneck it so that everyone has a fair share. So if you're downloading some high-grade, Alex, then you could be bought... You know, like 1080. Oh, okay. high grade that's your new name for it now i thought high grade was weed but i've had a new term for it yeah it is yeah well that's that's what what's his face he says what's him what's his name danny g knows he what's his name danny boy danny danny boy says i've got high grade here and he's talking about a woman of the night oh okay to me i i think that's misogynistic and i don't i don't enjoy that language but yeah it's more i was thinking about high but let's just say it's high grade pornography ones that you can actually see 60 frames per second
37:54you can see the sadness in the scene can't you so yeah if you want to if you want to download that kind of level of quality um sometimes your isp will bottleneck it also actually if you just want to watch it for aep i like doing that sometimes because it feels like old school like i'm young again if you want you get grainy what you're saying is if i wanted to download the new downton abbey film legally yeah yeah yeah i mean you i mean nord vpn does not help you download the legal content in any way yeah but quicker any content it doesn't matter you choose what the legality of it i guess maybe stream it on the service how about that yeah no buffering it won't buffer anything that's right man good that's that's right yeah um and obviously like as we all now use a vpn for nor vpn you know you switch it on you forget it isn't on you up look you you open one of those websites and you're like oh god you want my id fuck you you're not getting my id i'm going to sweden for a second and uh in sweden they're cool with it we're all not compliant we're all sound ain't even one of them um t i don't i'm not like oh don't with my digital ID you can have my fingerprints I couldn't give a fuck take my saliva it ain't about that I can't be fucked if I'm trying to pull one I've got stuff to do all day I've got podcasts to make I ain't got time to put in my ID every one of the time I want to tug and I want to tug a lot you know you should tug 21 times a month if you're a man 21 times rookie numbers I don't know if there's because what the point is and prostate cancer is really important for people especially men of our age of our vintage isn't it boys like prostate cancer is a big thing in men yeah the blood test for it the other day obviously negative you did yeah obviously negative alex has had probably 15 blood tests prostate cancer in his life in a day it's not that one actually that that that that health particular health anxiety hasn't struck me yet it's all the other cancers that have got have got me what's your favorite health anxiety well my favorite well the one that takes up the most amount of time is probably bowel cancer um my granddad to be fair yeah i mean there's nothing i don't know about um human extramment now the look look in size and shape uh consistency but you are looking after yourself alex you are you know i'm fine i'm fine now it's just the best one the best one in the whatsapp group the best i had to say best two days i think in living memory was when alex thought he had aids that was great that was gold you didn't even get the two days before i only told you once the result was in and i could relax a little bit yeah of course of course like i i know that you could at any moment have be having health anxiety alex and it's um it's a serious thing that infects loads and loads of people it's not ideal no no no it isn't ideal and i appreciate people listening to this will also have it but there's nothing better than thinking one of your mates might have got eight it's just there's so much there's so much gold so much material to go it wasn't the reaction i was expecting when i said you know everything's fine yeah everyone's like he's been walking around for three weeks thinking he has aids um the uh i mean we've all been there i've had a i've had the old hiv test i go i give it i got the point where i was googling statistics and working out what the likelihood of it was so like just dividing it by population how many men and women are in the in the country, age, race, background, whether I had homosexual sex.
41:32I'd worked out my own statistic just for me. And that's a spreadsheet. For my area. It was kind of back of a fag packet type. Oh, I wanted to see a spreadsheet. It took me... Formulas and everything. It took my mind off Postacoglu at the time. So there you go. NordVPN. let me get it right norvpn.com support the podcast protect yourself online be yourself online as long as you're not fucking deviant then don't use it if you're a deviant you want to see terrible things then don't use norvpn although it will protect you it doesn't discriminate let's do some questions boys Trevor Bowden says where do we finish this year in the EPL if we draw all of our games no more wins no more losses how many points we got what have we got 14 14 and then how many games left I've got to do all of the math yeah so say 32 yeah so 30 32 so 30 plus 14 54 that's 17th again 44 rather that's yeah about 17th no no probably a bit higher than that 17th I don't know how reload it we are in Bilbao nah nah mate still still can't quite believe it i did an incredible and i say incredible i think it's the best episode of the lab that i've ever done there's been three seasons of the lab with ben haynes you'll be listening to this ben it was such it's gone down really really well people have been really lovely about you and listening to you talk someone clipped up the bit about you talking about sonny and it's just it's just flown around the internet basically um which was a lovely thing uh so go and listen to that if you want to feel good about spurs at the moment go and listen to the lab with Ben Hates.
43:23It's out now. Legend. It's on this feed, actually. Yeah, he's a good lad. He's pretty much everything I'd like to be in a man. Yeah, I know. I know you look at him and you just think, like, good looking, successful. And I was watching the last little interview he did. He's sitting there, a little polo shirt. He sat down, the camera pans past him a bit and I'm like, hello, bicep. The size of it. There you go.
43:49Sam Pudney says, would you go through the nutty putty cave in exchange for Tottenham winning the league or the champions league? Why is that? No it's basically you can't go down it now it's been filled in with cement so that no one goes in it. Oh I thought it was a euphemism just for something else. Okay it's actual cave yeah. Yeah no it's a cave in America somewhere and we did an episode and the lads anonymous about it and it's essentially someone died someone went down this sort of very small corridor when i say small you're like on your you're edging yourself along through this tiny little cave we're using your fingertips and your toes to nudge your body along oh fuck that and he goes yeah and he goes head first down into what is like a seven like a six foot dead end that's straight down and obviously they can't get him out and he just dies in there what of though what does he die of so he died of heart failure but that was caused by a pooling of blood in the head.
44:51Yeah, yeah, because he's upside down. And lungs. Yeah. Well, I mean, how long, though? How long did that take? They reckon he died between 24 and 36 hours. Oh, okay, fine. Yeah. I mean, yeah. I was like, Christ, if you imagine sitting there just dying of starvation because there was, like, no water. Like, that's all – I mean, it's all horrific. So they said he would have developed some sort of psychosis in that time, and he would have gone mad, and he would have had some sort of heart failure due to stress and the lack of circulation to the body. That sounds better than the second half of last night, to be fair.
45:23I do think I wonder where I'd rather be in that little section of Nutty Party or watching Monaco side with a manager who's one week into his job terrace a new one over and over again. At least he's not in prison. I love Tottenham away in Europe. It's the best, isn't it? Mate, 10 years ago, I was there. I was in Monaco. You were supposed to be there, Alex, weren't you? Yeah, lost my passport. That's right. Tell that story. I booked a hotel with a pool on the roof and everything. Hang on a second. So we were all going together, and you had a massive breakdown in your marriage. No, no, no. We'd moved house.
46:03Oh, right. Sorry. That came later. We'd moved house, and just loads of stuff was in storage. And then the argument came because I was like, look, the passport should be in this box which is in the storage room it's not in the box where is it and we all know now that she threw it away by accident i didn't i can't remember that bit i had that storage room out and there was a lot of stuff and i'm texting you throughout the day and you were like i remember flava's like you're not gonna find it i said i haven't got there yet you're not gonna find it should my brother come instead for free so his brother went for free ticket hotel flight everything no the hotel we paid for because we end up in a shitty little one bedroom apartment so i don't know you must have cancelled the hotel yeah yeah that was spire like fuck you yeah all on the roof uh it was i was told this on the patreon preview podcast for the game that uh my dad doesn't really smoke weed um but for some reason my brother had some and we were all he was in his pants as he generally is when he gets home um certainly on a european trip uh he'll walk around the apartment in his pants um not i just think he finds it comfy and um anyway he's we was having a few beers and he's just on the balcony and he's smoking a spliff and he was like this is this stuff's shit this is shit stuff this is i don't feel anything like this and i was like dad i mean like it's from my brother ross he's definitely it's good stuff don't hit you dad don't smoke too much and he didn't speak for a bit and then out of nowhere for about about 45 minutes later he went that palm tree is really straight that's all right shit weed it dad shit weed um right now get up to 15 off select storage solutions Put heavy-duty HDX totes to good use, protecting what's important to you.

That's why you rack. Yeah, mate, we had a few beers outside the casino rail. You hated it, didn't you? I remember you got the worst trip I've ever been on. It was, I'll never, ever go back to Monaco ever again. We had like gargantuan downpours as well. Like I was saying again on the thing, like it was kind of rain you could drown in by walking through it.
49:42It was so heavy. Three people died. That's how heavy the rain was. Not just in Monaco, in all of the South of France. Anyway, it was an experience that I'll never repeat. You couldn't lie, at two o 'clock they went, right, no, everyone stopped drinking. What? Everybody stop drinking. What do you mean? That's you up for you. It's two at the kickoff. Kickoff, though. It's eight hours. What is it? Two o 'clock, six. Six hours till kickoff. What do you want us to do? And then you get a cheeky little barman or a bloke who owns a restaurant and went, boys, don't worry. You come in here. And we sat in this restaurant for loads of other Spurs fans drinking this beer.
50:22It was good. Love those doors and away days. yeah what is your my favorite story of yours on a way day is when you got fingered by the um steward furantina when you went into furantina it wasn't me it was it was down low and i seem to be the only one who didn't get fingered i don't think he fancied me enough maybe maybe maybe he's a racist rape rapist buddy and i got nearly crushed to death in dortmund that was awful what what that was oh yeah no i was there i was there that mate that was terrible honestly i was genuinely afraid i've never really been afraid apart from like flying being having a fear of flying is like an irrational fear this was when we got crushed outside the turnstiles at dortmund getting in i genuinely thought i might i might die not only might i die i'm with my family they might die and the spurs fans crushing us from the back they'll probably be all right but we'll be dead i was i i was relatively calm but there was about yeah about five minutes where i was like And I was getting mad because I was like, fucking Bardi, lanky streak of piss.
51:30Because he'll survive this and I won't. And I knew because I stayed with him, he'd be the one responsible for all the arrangements. And that was making me wrong. And there's more body space for you to be crushed in. Well, the good thing about being quite squat and low center of gravity was I was able to kind of like ball up, like crang out of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and kind of like...
51:57it kicked off because the part of the reason why it was such a squeeze is that Spurs fans were arriving at the back didn't realize the turnstiles weren't open the fuckers wouldn't let open the turnstile and I say fuckers these are people that just they're on minimum they're like not minimum wage it's just this is a little side hustle while they study at university and they're being told not to let Spurs fans through the turnstile bearing in mind these are the turnstiles for our end. Yeah, yeah. But they're saying, don't let them in. I don't know what it was. And we were screaming at them, open them, open them.
52:27We are getting crushed here. And eventually, they pushed open and a couple of them got bad. It wasn't their fault, but it's kind of like, use your brain. So all that happens for Onoma and Kowal to be in midfield. I mean, yeah. Fucking hell. You almost died for that midfield. You got battered 3-0. That's when we were clapped off Dortmund at the end of the game. Do you remember? All of us were so fucking sick of it. No, we're not going to clap you cunts. I'm going to clap Dortmund. Remember Matt Tummel was pointing up at us as the fans going, look, look at the Tottenham fans clapping us. They thought it was because of massive due respect.
53:00It wasn't because we just hated our own team so much. Also, we're all just happy to be alive, I think. Everyone was just clapping. Oh, shit, we're alive, everyone. No, I mean, they tore us apart. It was bizarre that Pochettino at the time didn't respect the Europa League, didn't respect UEFA Cup. It was the Europa League then, I think. He just didn't respect it. Do you remember? He just put out a team, I don't care about this competition. Last year, we're like, Alex was looking at me, holding my head, and tears were screaming down his face. If it was Redknapp or Pochettino, it would never have happened.
53:38We wouldn't have had the miracle in Bilbao. It wasn't a miracle, was it? It wasn't quite Istanbul. but it's still good a couple more questions and then we'll we'll finish up Kevin Young says which is less harmful your health a fry up and enjoy calf or watching the double pivot on home games you know the away our away form is impeccable we're the best away side in the league thus far I think 17th which makes sense 17th I don't know how you are in bell bell la la la
54:15Matt Yai says do you think our fan base is so accustomed to Levy's regime in hiring and firing managers that we quickly move to crisis mode obviously backing from the Lewis family is needed in the transfer market and Frank needs to perform but I wonder if it's a byproduct of Levy's tenure I don't know I think it's just modern fandom isn't it oh god Pochettino's trending it's not going to be Spurs fans asking for him back is it yeah come on dad that's one thing I would throw Frank over the side for no it seems to be Chelsea related
54:53DD says this is a rough patch and Frank is still managing to get this is this a rough match and Frank is still managing to get results or is this dare to dare is to long throw FC I like the long throw I wouldn't mind if we were at losing why not Fuck it. It doesn't really work, but yeah, why not? Paul Agerson says, can we get T's fraud watch from Frank? You know what? I had the meme in kind of, in storage, but last night I made an appearance again. So, it's T twoing on fraud watch. T twoing on there, but, benefit of the doubt. What's the parameter? Is it from one to ten if you get an enter sort of bored T is during the game?
55:37I don't think it's quite on the red zone yet. He's not in the red zone yet. And I think I do have misgivings about him. I don't know if his football is sustainable, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't know if it's one of those things where you get sacked a couple of years and that's how I told you all. So it's not a case of that. It's difficult to judge without everyone fit. But really, seriously, I don't think he's on forward watch yet, but I do like the meme so much. I just keep putting it out there. Mei Jin Lu says, when will the endless pain end? Do you know what I put? I think everyone must have seen it now, but I put it in the group the other day about the clip of that Jets fan who gets stopped outside the game and he's like, I hate this team.
56:20I was born into this. I'm not going anywhere. I'll never not be a Jets fan. I hate this team. And it was just so perfect. I'm just glad it's just not us, that there are other poor souls out there feeling... Oh, in the NFL, there's about six of them at the minute. My team, the Broncos, are actually having a bit of a run at the minute. but normally it's just that and and probably the nfl is there's like there's so many games where you go it's you you watch it for three hours and it all depends about someone getting a fucking field goal and winning by a point in the last second uh what can i ask what what is it what explains me how bad are the jets like they are they're one of these kind of perpetual teams that just continue to be kind of shit every year despite isn't isn't it set up so that the the lesser teams get an opportunity because of the 12 picks or something.
57:11It is, but it's not a perfect system. How can it be so bad for so long? Because it's an art. It's not necessarily a science. Just because you get number one pick or whatever, or a top 10 pick, you then trade those, and you make gambles to go on other players. So you need to have a really intelligent team behind this process. Yeah. Yeah, there's still plenty of... Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so you've got people like the Dolphins and the Jets and people like that who are just... it's just endless pain. Like on the comments of that video, I, it was about another seven other NFL fans, like fan bases. Like what the fuck about us?
57:44Look at this. Look at this sick. and six this year. Like it's so, so, so when, so, so say are there people whose job it is to navigate the draft system and exchange picks? And, and, and do those, are those people have a value that they can be traded for? Like a manager or a head coach? or something like that. Transfer fees, no. So not even for staff. So you could go up to the staff and go, come to the New York Patriots or whatever they're called. There's a whole clandestine side of it. There's a great documentary on Netflix about a scouter. Basically, it was just a dude who would just watch, learn all of these other teams' plays, like secret plays and learn their codes that they would have for these plays.
58:31And it turns into this huge, mungous scandal. you can't really compare it but it's the truth is it's not a science so despite there's some teams that stay at the top and are always competitive for long periods of time and that's because they've got good teams around them and hopefully that's what Tottenham's building because we seem to be hiring a hell of a lot of fucking people that have nothing to do with the football side of it, new board members every week Friend of the show, Anatole Pang who is the most finely spoken gentleman i've ever met and we've done a couple of episodes of the lab because he works in he's told me what he does about 15 times so flab and alex has even told i don't know what alex does now he sells some sort of camera lens or some lenses for cameras or something no no um he used to be an optician and then nope you worked you was you worked in an optician's no all right fuck off.
59:29Wow. Whatever. Anyway, I don't, Anatole Pang, I'm not intelligent to understand enough about what Anatole Pang does, but he'll be listening to this. Anyway, every time something happens, like we got this new guy come in, what's his name? New director. Eric Hinson. Eric Hinson, and he's a non-executive director. So a former US Navy officer and pilot, Hinson. I don't know why that's relevant. But anyway, Hinson has made his career playing leading roles in aircraft manufacturers and simulation companies. The American is also known, he's also at a Space Florida board and chaired the General Aviation.
1:00:06I don't know how this makes it good for Spurs, but he has experience in the management of high-performance teams, strategy transformation, and organizational growth. Right. What was you going to say, yeah? Nothing. I was going to make a reference to an Only Fools and Horses episode about airplane wings. It doesn't matter. It would have been better if you just made the joke than explaining what you was going to do. Sorry. next all right no problem um uh so i messaged him i said what does this mean and he's a he's a this is a board non-exec role so not really clear what impact there would be he says it is interesting in that there hasn't been much board change but this isn't a manager management change so in theory the board constitutes a bunch of directors who are mostly non-executive principally looking after the interests of the shareholders this is known as fiduciary responsibility this is a separate to management which is the CEO and his team so Venkatesh and those guys the board appoints the management in line with what they want to see as the direction of the company management do the day-to-day running of the business the board look after the shareholder interest by overseeing management this guy's CV indicates that he is from this class of professional board directors which is a kind of skill as a businessman by the time you're in your the dream is to leave behind hard day-to-day work, pick up three or four board memberships and just get paid to attend meetings once every three months.
1:01:29And I said, interesting stuff. And he said, is it? That is so partridge.
1:01:39I'm not sure he finds, but this is day-to-day for him. For me, it was quite interesting. So it's not going to make any different. okay that'll do boys um thank you very much for uh sparing your time on this uh where are we thursday afternoon um i tomorrow have to travel to london to be strapped to a lie detector oh that's gonna be fun do you remember when we did that that was great yeah that was good best episode ever if you haven't listened to that what is that we'll have to try and find i'll try find it and I'll tweet it out. 1:02:20Yeah. It was me, you, Bardi, Ricky. Yeah. So basically we asked questions about people and it was like, if you tell a truth, sorry, if you tell a lie, it shocks you. Let's see. That's really good. We used to do some really good stuff, didn't we? Before we started taking this all really seriously. I think it was, I want to say season four. Yeah, that sounds about right. I'll find it. I'll tweet it out. I might listen to it.

Spurs are tougher to beat but still searching for a spark. We unpack the 0–0 in Monaco, Vicario’s big night, and why the No. 10 keeps getting bypassed. Is the Bentancur–Palhinha double pivot leaving a chasm to the forwards, and could Kudus through the middle help the ball stick? We talk Archie Gray’s versatility, Porro’s playmaking, Richarlison’s struggles, and what changes once Solanke, Kulusevski, Maddison, and Romero return. Plus: patience with Thomas Frank, away vs home identity, and January priorities for a deep-lying playmaker and a left winger. Listener questions included.
