In short

Spurs’ collapse in recent matches (notably vs Nottingham Forest and Brentford), whether Thomas Frank can turn it around, and what’s really broken at Tottenham (tactics, player quality, and club direction).

Guests (podcast hosts)

Rick (Spurs fan; discusses recording podcasts during matches and blames Spurs’ performance on multiple factors), Jack (co-host; “Jack of Ruler Roos podcast” and Spurs fan), Gal (co-host; focuses on tactical patterns and player errors).

Guest backgrounds

All three are long-time Tottenham supporters and regular podcasters; they analyze matches from the stands/at home and reference prior Spurs eras (Pochettino, Conte, Ange, etc.).

Key claims

  • Tottenham lack physicality and midfield “willingness to win the ball.”
  • Goalkeeping distribution/decision-making by Vicario is a recurring problem, not just one mistake.
  • Thomas Frank’s press-conference messaging is overly negative (“we’ll lose games”), and Spurs lack a clear, consistent style.
  • Spurs’ squad has “gaping holes” and has been built opportunistically without a long-term plan.

Notable examples

  • Conceded goals tied to Vicario/defensive errors (Hudson-Odoi, Sarr/Sangare screamer, outside-the-box goals).
  • Porro allegedly “threw Archie Gray under the bus” in post-match comments.
  • Van de Ven and Romero giving the ball away early vs Forest.
  • Discussion of possible January keeper needs (e.g., links to James Trafford) and whether changing managers fixes systemic issues.

1:32See, Rick? Yeah. Now you can talk about spurs for an hour. Good. There or thereabouts. Yeah. Yeah. You all right? Yeah. Yeah. My daughter's off school ill, and I've just sent her a WhatsApp saying, pull the power. Do a power cut. Do a power cut. Dad, what's your fuse board? Just pull them all down. get a hammer and smash the fuse board

2:01do you think you'd be all right rick with all this sort of spurs losing and frank being useless and all that sort of stuff if it if i wasn't badgering you to record podcasts every two minutes about it no but no it's um i don't mind it it's the um it's the time difference it's like when we're two nil down and then i look at what's happening it's like record tomorrow and i'm like i want to die i literally want to die what do you think um i should time it better or do it before do it before so then i don't know the result it's not even a result thing to be honest it's just the moment the timing the timing of when we're being crushed at the city grounds i don't know why i do that i just i i think i separate the podcast from what's actually happening at that time and just think this is fine yeah we're gonna meet up tomorrow and we'll talk it through uh jack how are you doing mate jack of ruler roos podcast and fellow top very uh very formal intro there gal thank you sorry mate that's all right i just think in of all of the misery that the three of us have shared since we've known each other it's an unfeasible amount really and um and i just thought it'd be nice because i messaged you jack as well i said do you want to do you want to do a hate podcast tomorrow?

3:22Yeah. And he was like, go on then. We'll toss us together with glee. Didn't even finish the sentence, just heard the word hate. I was already dialed in. I'm thinking of, I'm thinking of leaving the wife. I'm thinking of leaving my wife and children. I'm thinking of one day waking up and of just their mate waking up and just leave, and I'm gone. yeah with a mortgage still need to be paid yeah how sort of three quarters renovated kids at a loss didn't see this coming where's he gone he's been a part of the family so long yeah and i'm just i'm gone in a cave somewhere hiding in one of the caves in afghanistan you know i'm gone i need someone else to feel how i feel right now yeah i need them to truly understand what it means to watch Spurs get beaten by Brentford.

4:21And I reckon removing myself completely from their lives, then they could sort of some way to some degree, because I'm coming home after watching Spurs get beat by Nottingham Forest and their day ain't affected. They're just getting on with it. They're just like even chuckling and stuff. The boys on the PlayStation, the girls, I don't know, doing whatever she's doing, talking to her mates. Ollie cooking dinner. Not even oblivious. She's like, says to me, I saw the result. well why aren't you unhappy then why are you casually getting on with your day because my life is crumbling around my ears right now yeah yeah have you seen the thing people say online now where they say there's a whole different world out there and it will often come after like you know when they'll say these are the top 10 most streamed tracks across like the internet this year and it's it will be all artists and songs you've never heard of yeah people just say there's another world out there and that's that's what i always think with that my sisters could not care less about football couldn't care less are you angry with them though because i'm angry with them i'm that they can't care less spitting at them across the table i don't want them to care about football i want them to understand how it's made me feel and and act accordingly like hold me yeah for my viewing pleasure yesterday i we were dog sitting which is absolutely fine right nice to have a dog around the house uh might bring some festive cheer and then my missus says what are you doing and i was like tottenham are playing at two and she's like oh what do you mean oh oh i've i've i've kind of invited my family around either you have or you haven't like let's let's speed this up let's have some direction Are they coming round?

6:06Right, okay. So who's coming round? Sister-in-law, brother-in-law, their two kids, cousin, another kid. Brother-in-law's Arsenal, isn't he? Yeah, oh yeah, he's Arsenal. He comes in when the goals are going in, he's having a little chuckle to himself sitting next to me. Oh God, he should have cleared his line there, shouldn't he, Rick? Oh, he should have done that. And I'm like, I fucking need this, don't I? I fucking need this. The kids are running around, my Christmas tree, real Christmas tree. all i can hear is needles hitting the floor like fucking great everything's being wrecked and then then the missus and the girls as they're drinking their tea and having a little chat a little look up at the screen oh two nil when did that happen rick why don't you fuck off all of you sorry oh no no mate you're right i was sitting there i was watching it with the old man and um his wife obviously likes to have a chat during the game yeah about all kinds of things and uh she talks to my dad and like i went generally when we're watching the game i can't get a word out my dad like he's very kind of focused i could tell him something really important and he'll just go yeah like he's just focused on the game laser focus half time switches off and he's normal back in the room yeah yeah watching the game he's super like he washes everything and um his wife really is oblivious to this fact and will continually talk talk him during the game and I'm sitting there as well and I'm listening and and uh and she's talking she goes why do you ignore me when the football's gone in and at that moment Hudson-Odoi's cross just flies into the net and then she went oh like that oh great well that just didn't say a word just um there was a couple of moments where you just like it was one of them oh god oh god it was a it was a bad one Gal is is Maranakis was he right is is going from Nottingham Forest to Tottenham a step down

8:05you wouldn't risk your career on it at the moment would you like Dyche is looking if Tottenham come knocking for Dyche he's turning us down at this moment yeah which is I mean that used to be a meme didn't it we could should we get Sean Dyche that would be funny wouldn't it now I'm thinking oh hang on actually I might save us from going down I'm deadly serious I'm deadly serious there was a I mean there is still I mean the great thing about being a Spurs fan is like despite all of the evidence pointing to the contrary we still think we're better than Sean Dyche yeah which and then there's this other question I've just done another podcast what were between the lines and there's a question that came in when do you think Spurs fans overrate their players I think all fans of all clubs overrate their players or think their players are better than they are.

8:57You should hear the Sunderland fans talking about Sidiqe like he's literally the second coming of Christ. I don't know, maybe he is good. I don't know. But I hadn't heard that word, Sidiqe, before the season started. So, yeah. So, I guess there is a case of that. But what the biggest problem I saw yesterday was there was one midfield that was willing to, I don't even want to say it, but heart and desire, willingness to win the ball, physicality that we don't have. like if you look you look at you look at Gray like again I don't want to criticise Gray but obviously you guys can tell me what you thought of the goal that was conceded you know his mistake in part but if the physicality between Gray and Ben Sancor compared to Sangeri and Anderson it was like night and day like Anderson night and day on the field compared to his like he would walk into Tottenham's team he could walk backwards into it yeah he could play the entire game running backwards and be more effective in midfield in terms of he could only run backwards you know what I mean I'd still play him no shoes and he'd be yeah I was going to say laces tied together yeah trousers around his ankles

10:21swinging about do you know what I mean as he's fuck's sake and it was kind of ones you just sort of you're just willing it right you want you wanted it to work i had a bad feeling before the game and then i had a bad feeling when it started and then i had a bad feeling at halftime then i had a horrendous feeling at full time can i be a tottenham apologist a bit here though just just because i do think i think there's lots of necessary kind of complaints to be made about tottenham about thomas frank about our players but what you're saying there gal as well i do think we probably just need just need to factor in just a bit the fact that nottingham forest are one of these weird little tin pot sides that just have tottenham as like one of their main rivals for seemingly no reason whatsoever and they've always been like that it's not just a morgan gibbs white i think the second one the second game my dad ever took me to like in the 90s was against nottingham forest and they were singing i guess it was probably just after the fa cup so they hated us and the way the sort the chance they had our way were you know i don't know they always kept they kept saying they beat us that day and they there's the stand the away stand i remember at white heart lane i was about 10 years old for literally about 10 minutes they were just singing tottenham we always beat tottenham we always beat tottenham we always beat tottenham tottenham and you know when you're like 10 years old and you're like shut up you know you're having like a tantrum shut up just really annoying and you're balling your fists together.

11:52Was it a Steve Stone, that glass? I think it was... Ian won't. Ian won't. Ian won't. Ian won't. I think it was. I think so. But the point is that, you know, we have had that whole Morgan Gibbs-White thing in the summer. I'm sure, as we saw with Fakinesa the other week, there was a whole thing that... They were all posting... All their players were posting pictures with Morgan Gibbs-White on Instagram. I don't know if you saw that after the game. there was clearly an added motivation there to mug Tottenham off and they achieved that but you know it's just we were fucking running to these teams that hate us why does everyone want to get one over us all the time I think because we're fucking arseholes I think I think we've got to play except that we we've got a role to play in this we're wankers don't we fair there is a reason If there are several teams that seem to hate us for absolutely no reason, then we maybe need to look sort of inwards into why that is.

12:56Like, you know, we've never won anything really of note, certainly in recent years, but we're the most hated team in London, clearly. Leicester hate us. Forest hate us. Leicester hate us just for giving it a go. So with something else, that's about the way we behave. Harry Kane posts and pictures of lions come in and then it's just, we don't really help ourselves. but it's fine right because i'd rather be that than just kind of people are indifferent like fulham or whatnot but it does mean it feels like because i noticed that as well forest fans yesterday again i was mentioning specifically beating spurs rather than any other any other game if you're being kind to tottenham as well rick vicario mistake gray mistake probably shouldn't be We shouldn't see that happening, or we have seen it happening a fair bit.

13:47Another massive error leading to a goal, highest in the Premier League for that. Good. The Hudson-Lodoy goal, Flukie, Kross, sort of goes in the net, and then an absolute screamer from Sangeri. All three really avoidable to some degree or unlikely to go in every time that happens. Like, they try and do it again. So, really, it was nil-nil.

14:16i think that's how frank might be thinking uh i think that's how he does think you know it does seem to that has that energy like every game and the way we we're defeated is a different one from the last the last defeat was it was it frank everyone's scoring outside the box frank Screamers, Frank Mate, the Vicario, Archie Gray I mean, I think I was in the I get that Archie Gray loses the ball He gets the ball taken off him But I'm also the fact that Vicario has The whole pitch As his view He can see our defenders He can see who's approaching our defenders who's pressing and I understand that a lot of people saying yeah but Archie was screaming for the ball was saying you know pass to me but it doesn't mean you have to pass to him if someone's saying like fucking jump off this cliff or do what a jump into that fire you don't mean you have to do that so it's like he should have looked and and Archie Gray's got his back to goal so he can't see so he's not he's not properly scanned and then he passes it to him he takes an extra touch and sure he could have got that out of his feet and uh one pass straight to romero and we're out of there but maybe the pass wasn't as great from vicario and he felt like he needed to control it and then pass maybe he felt like he had more time but then after he lost the ball he was like you know when obviously he was annoyed at himself and he there was that split kind of second of like oh fuck what have i done and and forrester going forward and he should have got himself back i don't think it would have helped anyway but yeah i think it's i think it's for me it's it's more of a 50 50 it's not laying solely at the at the um feet of archie grave because vicario he if he had looked to his left hand event was completely open or if he felt like that uh he didn't have a a pass on then just fucking smash it down the field right when when we used to go out when we were along you know different people you're a long long time ago we're much younger right and there'd be about one o 'clock in the morning yeah and you go to give us another pill yeah and i'd i'd look at you and go i'm not going to give you that yeah i'm not going to give you that because right now you're in no state to make any decisions yeah oh let me canvas the situation and and maybe yeah you know now you can have another one yeah you look like you've had a stroke are you sure i'm not gonna do this right so so in that moment i'm like i'm not gonna give well that's the correct correct thing yeah exactly yeah so that's what i like in that instance like archie gray may be asking for the ball and you want that you want him to be brave you want him to accept the ball yeah yeah sometimes he can be too brave for his own good yeah he's 19 do you know i mean he's 19 years old he's learning on the job he's enthusiastic he's got a lot going for him but kids are going to make mistakes, aren't they?

17:23Like Tina, that's what you get from young players on the pitch. It's for the more senior players, Vicario should be one of them, to, as you say, Rick, to spot the danger and to not give the ball to him. And this is, the thing is, this isn't an isolated incident. Like Vicario's distribution in general is abysmal. It's terrible. You know, this isn't the first time he's sort of put his defence under pressure for playing like whiffy balls. Did you see as well, Porro chucked Archie ground under the bus in his post-match comments as well? What did he say? Yeah, I can't quite remember, but he did say something about, what was it that he said exactly?

18:00He said the game was fine until that mistake from Archie, which, I mean, Pedro Porro, of all players, calling out one of his teammates for a defensive error is quite something. I know Porro gives us a lot going forwards. he's got a lot of passion but we do give him a pass for the fact he's a defender that can't defend right you know like pretty much every game people are poor his quality he can't defend but you know he's good um but i don't know that that that wound me up a bit oh because i'm finally the opinion to that i'm just having a look while uh while you're while you're saying it but previously as he preys on them apparently as well uh what you say well what i was gonna say as well i mean from the opposite side.

18:42He did a story a couple of weeks ago for Vicario and mistakes and stuff like that. And then he's done an interview and he's thrown Archie under the bus. That's a bit weird, isn't it? Sticking up for one day and then...

19:02I don't care. I do care. I can understand that mistakes are made on the pitch. what's really frustrating though for gario he's like he'll make a mistake and then he'll just turn around and start shouting at everybody like just be quiet own it sit there don't sort of raise your hands up like the passing so you could have chosen a different pass right and i'm not these things happen you see them happen all the time but if archie gray as he's back to the pitch and he's asking for the ball and it isn't on you don't give it to him so and you know and and and the difference between the two is that archie gray was devastated and vicario was like oh well that's not my fault that's someone else's fault and i'm angry at them yeah that's so that's annoying but what else is annoying well what it's just um there's just a pattern isn't there that it just keeps happening so what do you do in those situations do you ride it out and hope that the you know more time on the training pitch and more time of being a cohesive kind of squad and understanding what players can and can't do and playing through it?

20:10Or is it a thing of, do you know what, maybe we might need another senior keeper come January? 21:34They say you can tell a lot about a person by the contents of their freezer. So what does a bottle Jägermeister say? It says you have standards. You don't cut corners. And you like your Jägermeister shots the way they're meant to be enjoyed. Ice cold. As for the frozen taquitos and mystery leftovers, we'll keep that between us. Drink it cold or don't drink it at all. Jägermeister. Damn, that's cold. drink responsibly Jägermeister liqueur 35 % alcohol by volume imported by Masked Jägermeister US White Plains New York it's like one of the things you don't want to have to think about isn't it like with that 100 million in cash just sitting there fucking buying a keeper is like the worst it's so boring even if you really need one it's so dull yeah is that James Trafford any good are we being linked to him don't know much about him the city keeper city yeah I mean he was horrible against Spurs absolutely horrible

22:31I don't know look I don't think the problem here is Vicario so much like I don't think he is a bad goalkeeper at all he's like obviously distribution's an issue and his decision making at times is an issue but there's been tons of times where he's kept us in games this season so sure I mean like shot stopper great but if we are a team that wants to play out from the back and invite pressure find those spaces your keeper is you know central to not shitting himself to be able to distribute to be able to scan and see who's got players that are free and to be able to find them so it's really key that the keeper can do that and if they're they're not doing that over again then you have to ask these questions surely and I like Vicario like you know I think he is you know he's one of our senior players and I feel like he's a I wouldn't call him a mentality monster but he gets a lot of shit and he still gets his head down he's a great professional he talks a lot throughout the game and he's talking to other players and he's trying to G everyone up and like you said great shot stopper but if you are going to play a certain way and it's integral to the way that you play and these mistakes keep happening then something needs to happen he's one of those players though isn't he because i feel like we're talking about this we're talking about like is frank the issue are the players the issue it's probably somewhere in between but i do think one of the things that we've sort of fallen into this habit of doing as a fan base over the past few years and there are some positives behind this don't get me wrong but I feel like there are a lot of players like Vicario, like Richarlison, like Porro, who I was talking about there, who are capable of doing some things really well.

24:25And we always acknowledge, well, yeah, they have these deficiencies, but they do certain things really well. And then we don't sort of take it that sort of step further, do we? And say, well, if we do, this is the thing, we complain, like why aren't we, say, a top five team anymore? Why aren't we that team that we were under Pochettino? But they never really made that connection. well maybe it's because we've got all these players that we know have sort of these gaping holes in their game all of a sudden i do feel that vicario is one of those players like adam who i had on my pod the other day was just saying he's he is he's like a reincarnation of her elio gomez he's like he's a goalkeeper that's he's great at times but you just you can't rely on him and we saw that even in the europa league final he nearly cost us that um that final mickey van defense heroics came as a result of a massive blunder from vicario again the i know i agree with what you're saying rick i do think there's a lot you know after he got booed the other day he fronted up didn't he went out yeah he didn't hide from it romero always does he's and he's our captain you know romero sharp when we've done well but and i think it's once he's done it so far um vicario doesn't hide from that i think there's a lot to like about him but he just he's he's he's not good enough if Tottenham want to be a top side again and I think that's that's where we're at with him that's kind of my feeling on him yeah like I thought generally as well that the just we were poor all over the pitch and you know Frank can only do so much he can pick the side and everyone was happy with the side that he put out there was no complaints I don't think I didn't see any anyway and and then but when it came like when you got van der Ven consistently giving the ball away I think three or four times in the first half he gave the ball away and you're like But it wasn't like giving the ball away like it bouncing off him.

26:09You're making passes and it going straight to their player. It was intercepted. Romero similarly. And it could be that the system means that the pass isn't on or Forrest sort of worked us out. But there was just the plan didn't seem to work. Even when Kudus got the ball, it was one of his worst games with Tottenham as opposed to the last two performances against Newcastle and Brentford where we saw some of the best from him that we've seen this year. So things weren't clicking. But when you think about what worked for Brentford last year, you have certain players available like Visser and Bumo who both get into our team easily.

26:52Norgaard probably gets into our team. Even Sharder on the left probably gets into our team. So we probably don't have the right players to play the kind of football he wants to play and be competitive. we certainly you know that anderson in midfield and i know he's talked about it but it's just that there's levels and levels apart what what he can do and what what spurs can do but then you're thinking about them and it's like you think we could buy all those players and not be a step forward that's what he kind of feel like it feels like at spurs at the moment so it's kind of like you could you could say replace the manager okay replace the manager but do you think these problems go away which is what frank said he's like this is this isn't you can replace me or how long would he last I think the question was and he said he doesn't know but these problems you know they're going to persist and that's what every manager has said pretty much at Tottenham so what is the main issue here and you'd think there is given the fact that the head coach and managers or the head coaches what they're now called are becoming less influential and just a part of a system that what is the system at Spurs and is it functional or is it fit for purpose now we won't actually know that until a few years when the current setup has been in place in situ for a while and their visions can be realized because daniel levy's been in control of the football club for so long and seemingly willing or had a desire to micromanage every section of it including the football side of things which he was never equipped to do so maybe what we're seeing now is a product of all of that a lack of direction um you know you look at Langer's comments with The Standard last year with Dan Kilpatrick, they did an interview, and they were talking about having a philosophy at Tottenham and it being about the manager fitting into that philosophy.

28:42This is how this club plays football, and Ange Postacoglu at this moment is a part of that process. And then the next manager that comes in is Thomas Frank, who's the polar opposite. And neither of it worked. I know we won the Europa League, but you'd look across the board Poster Coglu was horrible our performances were horrible last year in the league and our performances mostly in this season have been horrible so with that in mind do you want Frank sacked boys just want to stop the podcast briefly to bring you this message from one of our sponsors Saley if you're travelling soon don't get caught out without data.

30:12For me, no. The thing that I see online, because that's, you know, obviously the way you're going to see the chattering in whatsapp groups as well and like you were saying about van de ven he lost the bull he's like he's passing into midfield or wherever and he's obviously being asked to do that but it's like a lot of the talk is what what are we trying to do like what is our style what like under marina and conte okay low block give it a cane and son and they'll do something magic on the counter-attack, Poch, press high, win the ball back high, and start the attack straight away. Ange, invert the full-backs, overload on the wings and cutbacks, whatever.

31:06I don't see any patterns of play or anything as to say this is what Thomas Frank's Tottenham looks like or how we're trying to play. but normally okay yeah i get it he's he's just come in still trying to establish himself and everything else in the way that he plays but normally there's a couple of games where you're like ah i saw that against city i saw that against the gooners whatever it might be to say this is how i feel like that we're trying to play but at the moment it feels like we're passing it round at the back and then it's like how how do we progress the ball forward it doesn't get it forward what what do we do with it then it doesn't feel like when we're passing it out around the back that we're able to get it forward that what we're about to do is going to come off yeah you know what i mean it feels like and i remember that at the end of conte like when when we i was at the spurs southampton game the free all game when he went on that mad rant and we were free one up in that game um did you go rick does that southampton no i think you went with uh the wife didn't you oh uh oh yeah i don't remember but the um the the point is is that that when we were building out right we was trying to get it to the left wing back which was i think was perisic at the time it just didn't feel like this is going to work the the commitment to the plan was there but the belief that it was going to work wasn't it felt and that was in the stands but also in the players and eventually from from Conte as well because he didn't survive that that evening I don't think or he sat the next day for sure um so so Jack did you did did you say in or out he didn't shake it all about um yeah I know I I don't know I think if I'm being if I'm being completely truthful about it we're in that place with thomas frank where me and a lot of my mates are all like it's not working is it you know you just sort of have that look to each other and it's like it's not working i don't know if it is gonna work i don't know if this bloke has the personality i don't know if he has the gravitas to turn this around there are certain warning signs there for me with him um i've sort of gone on about this before but i feel that his his default position is always is a negative one, generally speaking.

33:38I know English isn't his first language, so you've got to sort of, you know, have an air of caution when you're holding up what somebody's saying in a high-pressured environment like a press conference when they're not speaking their first language. But still, the sort of tropes he keeps going back to, you know, I think in his first press conference, we will lose games, that's for sure. Why are you saying that? Like, we get it, we understand that as fans. Rationally speaking, we all understand that. but when you're the manager of a new football club when you're taking a step up when you go into a club like Tottenham Hotspur no matter what people say about us we are a club of a certain size we are a club of a certain prestige you say we want to do everything within our power to win every single game every time we step out onto that pitch we want to win we want to win everything we want to win the title we want to win the Champions League blah blah blah blah blah all that type of stuff like as much as I dug out Ange for certain things that's the stuff he always got right frank is always saying this stuff like we're gonna lose he even said it ahead of this game ahead of the forest game um we were coming into some good form again and he decided to flip the narrative back to but there's going to be tough points and we need to understand why these tough points come we need to understand how to better deal with these stop talking about that stuff mate sort of just focus on the good things that you're doing right now like talk about the fact yeah argy gray shabby simmons they're starting to find some sort of connection with one another things are getting a bit more fluid we can start to perhaps set our sights on playing a more expansive brand of football don't don't talk about the fact oh the world the wheels are going to come off this in five games time this is we don't need to hear this stuff i know he's managing of the press room is a big problem for him and it is a part of the issue uh but he is a pragmatist in application but in nature as well so it's hard for him to shift that away from that you're right you're right what's he doing that's that pragmatic though this is and i'm like i'm not just saying this to you gal like i see this said a lot like you know he's pragmatic he he he yeah okay he's he's not the most exciting brand of football but it's least going to get results but it's not is it i mean it comes from the seven years of brentford not what we've seen at spurs last far for sure yeah and i you know i just it's not all on him i think i was actually more annoyed with the players yesterday, if I'm brutally honest.

35:51But again, does that come from him? Are they giving up on him? But did they give up on Ange before? Because we've had, you know, we had a good few months of pretty terrible football under Ange Postacoglu as well, which I would attribute some of that to Ange and his approach. But also, again, I would say a lot of it was about the players, about obviously the injuries that he had. And it just, I don't know, it just, it always takes me back to the placement that you touched on there, the club has been mismanaged for a long time. Our transfer strategy has been opportunistic at best a lot of the time.

36:27All right, there's a couple of good progressive deals in there here and there. Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvold, Voscovic as well, another example of that. But then you look at players like Richarlison, you look at a Solanke, you look at these type of deals where Spurs are clearly going for those players that are like on the upper end of like decent to mid-table teams that probably, you know, they're not going to quite get into like Liverpool side. They're not going to quite get into Arsenal side, but are they good enough for Spurs? Are they available for a certain amount of money that we can say is all right?

36:58Are they not going to want 300 grand a week in wages? Fine. Let's slap them into the team and we'll see what the manager can do with them. That's what our squad has been like built up out of those sort of opportunistic deals without a real plan, without a real vision. And we are now, and it's been years of that. It's been years of that since Pochettino, since the opening of the stadium, years of opportunities, years of poor planning. And we're feeling it now. And, you know, if the Lewis family don't sort of buck the trend of that, if they don't start to actually be serious about it, I think Spurs are in, I think I genuinely think we're in trouble.

37:35I don't want to be dramatic about it, but we are. What do you mean? We're trending downwards, mate. We finished 17th last year and our form is worse this year. It should be food for thought. Like, I don't think Spurs are immune to being in serious trouble. It's not pleasant. I don't want to think about that right now. We'll think about it in 10 games. You said you wanted to hate this in today, right? You said you wanted to hate it. I don't want it anymore. I don't want to anymore. I don't want to anymore. I don't want to anymore. Rick, who did you blame most yesterday? Players, Frank, or your wife?

38:14All three. all three equally. Who made the day the worst? I'd probably say, the bit that I remember, I'd say Thomas Frank, because when we're, I think it was 2-0 down, I'm like, God, man, what are we going to do? If we get one, they'll shit themselves, right? We might be able to get a, oh, Ben Davies and Paulina's coming on. Okay, right. That's it. Draw the blinds. I'm not, I'm not, turn the telly off. I've fucking had enough. We put a tweet out this morning, just a little poll. obviously after the loss is different right you're always going to get a shift um so did you see the poll boys yes i didn't know what was it all right what percentage so there's three options frank in frank out and end of season review so what percentage of frank in do you think if you had to guess jack so who how what percentage of frank in yeah people are franking still 31 % no less

39:2320 less oh shit boy that is that's stark I think there's a few wobbling heads there isn't there that are clicking on that foaming at the mouth clicking get him out less though spittle I don't know 10 % less are you serious fuck off I'm serious 5 %

39:46and the thing is is that's not it doesn't matter if they are being it does matter you have to take into account if they're being a little bit reactive to the result you understand that um but that was that's 1440 people that voted that's relatively secure and as a quantitative survey engage in the overall opinion of a fan base so they're not happy take away from that is that that we as a fan base are not happy at the moment frank out was 66 and end of the season then review 29 so even if you're saying give him to the end of the season and frank in you're still 34 uh right so the question is all right if all these people want him out, who do you want?

40:36Who would you want to get in? Glasner is what everyone's saying. Is he going to leave Palace? No. Not until the end of the season. Don't really want him either. Same thing, isn't it? Same sort of thing as Frank. Yeah. Nah, not really. Different. Slightly different. I spend a lot of time talking to a Palace fan and he's convinced me that he's like the second coming of Christ. So maybe... Yeah, but Brentford fans all said that about this useless tosser, didn't they? Yeah, they did. they did alright and then a lot of people said Xavi right and I was like oh what's he done he's managed Barcelona for a bit and played for him and that's it that's why I think you're forgetting his time in charge of did he manage the Qatari national team or something yeah I think he did manage Qatar as well put some respect on his name mate apologies but it's merely because he played for Barcelona it was a great a true great at the game right yeah that sort of probably does carry a bit doesn't it with players yeah i mean i'm talking about like we got a young set of players and stuff xavi siemens as well he's named after him you know you can imagine somebody like him bowling into the into the changing ground shouting at them into the changing ground bowling and shouting at him having a go at him they might they might listen to him a bit more than like you say the supply geography teacher that we've got at the moment come on everybody get your workbooks out who threw that

42:05um i was just funny i was just looking at this uh thumbnail as you were talking there because i typed some javi into google and it's popped up with javi simmons saying i want to win trophies i'm like do you do you really sure about that mate yeah because you signed for spurs so we don't do that here really I know obviously can't really make that joke I'm still I'd be in there waiting till the end of the season and I still I know people say you're crazy you are crazy Rick but the thing is there for me there's been a lot of change at the club like senior level Frank coming in all his coaches he's brought in specific people to you know for defence set pieces all of that stuff and it still takes time to bed in uh for everyone to find their rhythm to find their feet and how often we're playing as well with champions league and flipping premier league all of that and they're just not finding the time to be able to implement what they want during training sessions because there's always a game and they're always focusing on the opposition again players coming in as well they're still finding their feet people returning from injury or people still out from injury there's a lot of variables in this and because I feel like Frank is and it's a bit of a wanky word but I feel like he's a football man you know he's an xg student of the game so I do trust his judgment but it's just trying to get that that balance of his pragmatism and and how we want to play now maybe it's because we don't have the players that he wants or that how the style that we're trying to play but i can't go into mid-december and be like because that because up till now it's not really working let's get rid of him because who the fuck are we going to get in we're going to have to fire all his coaches and pay them off we've just had this huge structure of bringing all these people in to set up for frank we've all our work that we've been doing for the january transfer window has been for frank like and we're going to just rip that up now are we and it's the 15th of december like that it's just fucking tartan in it like it's just inconceivable for that to happen really like it's fucking madness why are we like this a few months ago we were all like wow we've got justin cochran in as well as well as thomas frank that's that's good that's big news that's huge news now i'm seeing people be like he's fucking useless as well get rid of him he's the one that's supposed to be doing all the attacking drills that's exactly what's going on in my head at the moment i'm not i'm not saying it out loud it's just in my head it's like where's where's fucking justin on the website it says he's our attacking coach why aren't they fucking attacking justin come on i don't want to see i don't want to see another fucking conversation between frank cochran and wells ever again i'm so glad that wells is going to manage colorado rapids or wherever he's going to manage that's how much he wants out he's going to the fucking mls i can't see another conference what are you talking about over there Cochran's just shaking his head what why is he shaking his head what have you said to make him shake his head listen to him I can't do this I can't the amount of times during the game it cuts to Thomas Frank Cochran and Wells looking at a monitor all shaking their heads stop shaking your heads and work out what the fuck's going wrong with our football club because we're the ones bearing the brunt here Frank right because you're coming you've come in and you're on your wages and if you get sacked you're like five million pound richer than you was we're still here we're stuck with this and we're all skint we're skint we're following the football club that cost a fortune to do and you and and you need to understand that it's like these fucking players that the vicario and poro gang are real fans but you have no fucking clue what real fans are because you don't know what it's like the people the money people have to put aside to watch you and fucking kick the ball in your own neck don't talk to us about real fans anyway um my mate phil was saying they were talking about a thing on the darts the last night that was basically sometimes players can suffer from something called the paralysis of analysis and he immediately thought of thomas frank justin cochran matty wells like you were saying there are you thinking stuff the the pieces as a paper.

46:53That's always, that's always been a red flag for me from a manager. When you're seeing a player on the pitch trying to look at like whatever the notes are. You saw Mickey van der Ven's face the other day. It depends what you want to see, but he did look a little bit confused. Like what am I looking at? I don't think he's having him though, is he? He's not. Well, we don't. I mean, I don't know. Come on, speculate. Do it. Any aggregators? No, but you don't speculate. You say things completely. you're not speculating he's not having him he's not I'll tell you now I've watched enough football I know when you're having him and I know when they're not and he is not what was on the piece of paper a picture of Oily one of the veiny ones that you draw at school and that's why he shoved it in his mouth

47:43it's I agree with you I don't like seeing pieces of paper being given to players I don't I think to some degree i'm i don't know if it's old school or gam and take but i'm kind of more aligned with the harry redknapp approach now like because i know all the the bedroom tacticals and the and the um the triangles and and all the all these fancy names i've got for positions that that have always existed but now you have to add an italian name to them to make it sound like you really know what you're talking about yeah whereas harry redknapp sort of fucking run around a bit and yeah and And it's all well and good, applying tactics to every situation.

48:26But if you've got better players, you're going to win games. Whereas if you overanalyze and over-tacticalize, if that's such a word, then you are potentially going to nullify what a player can do individually. Does that make sense? I don't know. If it's just like switch to 4-4-2, fine. Yeah. I don't know how much was on that piece of paper that Van der Ven had to look at it twice. How complicated must it have been? It's a small piece of paper. What are you writing in there? Maybe the second bit was like, fucking eat this. Eat this after you've read it. What? Big Sean Dye shouldn't have given out pieces of paper, is he?

49:06It's just the simple stuff, isn't it? And that's the thing is it feels like we're not doing the simple stuff like winning the ball, being there for the second ball and being capacitive, win your jewels, or that sort of shit. That's basic stuff that other teams are consistently doing better than us and winning games because of it. One thing that is annoying me though is the amount of goals that we're conceding from outside the box. So many goals. And it's like, it feels like that it is, obviously, it's... What was your favourite one? My favourite? I don't know, the goal yesterday by, was it Sanger?

49:40Sanger, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Oh, mate, that's a fucking absolute pearler. literally no fucking cunt anywhere near him just rolls it to him and it's just like someone at least get out to him just like just sprint at him do anything it pinged off the post and i just it was one of them ones your head just spouts immediately i can't look at the screen right now There's a compilation doing the rounds of all the bangers that have been scored against Tottenham this year. And some of them are pretty sumptuous. But the common theme in them is that we've just got banks of defenders

50:25magnetised to our own area. They're not closing down. They're not pressing. There's no sort of dynamism in what it is that we're doing. And you can't help but feel that it's unfair. Of course, some of these are screamers. Of course, you're going to say, well, nobody's stopping that. but we aren't taking the steps to prevent these opportunities arising. It's clearly a pattern, isn't it? I want to score some of them. I want to see that. Have we had a banger this year? I don't think we have. No, we're not allowed. No. We ain't allowed bangers because the players aren't allowed to shoot from outside the box.

50:59There was alarm bells at the start of the season when I was having a chat with Adam Rosenbaum and uh and he was on there and i was just like i can't he said just don't if you want long shots or if you want to see goals from distance you just you're never going to see him with thomas frank and my heart sank a little bit then because i don't need to be a combination between that and the sensible approach to it that's going to get you the best results i don't want to i don't want to not have any opportunity or that i might never see a screamer again from spurs the idea of us never scoring a screamer again terrifies me no i have seen uh you know what i have seen uh xavi have a few cracks but that's not instruction no it's not no he's just like yeah yeah but yeah it's the um it reminds me of like um ange when we were conceding corners and people were doubling up on vicario and like pushing him about pushing him in the net and the refs were letting it go on it's like well why can we see this is happening and why is Ange not doing anything to kind of give him any protection or do this that and the other and it wasn't until like 15 games in then we did have someone uh covering Vaccaro it was Madison and I'm like what's he gonna do but still uh at least you've kind of rectified that now with Frank it's like everyone's scoring from outside the box now why is it that we're got so many players in the box or at least no one is going out to challenge and charge down that shot or get something on it and it's like if everyone's scoring like that then surely we should be going to meet those players and making sure that doesn't happen they don't get a shot away i remember the training do you remember the training um video before the season where there was two small goals and like Romero that like they were doing last ditch sliding tackles and like really just trying their everything to stop the ball going in that net like why aren't we fucking charging out and trying to stop them from shooting everyone's just standing in the box waiting for the shot to come in then why do this shit Rick what um this question from MT says would you rather have to watch Frank Ball, like the Chelsea and Arsenal and Forrest performances for the next five seasons every game, or have to watch Frank, Ricky and Richarlison tag team your mum every Friday for the rest of the season while chanting it's Freaky Friday as they get to work.

53:40Wow. What was it? Me involved in that? You, Frank and Richarlison. Oh, God. And my mum's trying to get Freaky Friday. I reckon Frank's into some weird things. He's got that aura. I'll keep up the good work. Yeah, fair. Adam Eisenberg says, it's always two steps forward and two steps back this season. Are we seeing any of the expected growth from a pragmatic manager? I think you answered that pretty convincingly earlier. It feels like two steps forward and four steps back. Do you want to, there's a guy, Anthony Pathetis on Twitter. He posted today, he said, I'm still pissed off. So here's every team we've beaten this season and their current position.

54:34So Burnley, 19th. Manchester City, second. Great. West Ham, 18th. Villa Real, 35th in the Champions League. Okay. Doncaster, 20th in League One. Okay. Leeds, 17th. Okay. Everton, 9th. Okay. Right. Copenhagen, 24th in the Champions League. Brentford, 14th. Slavia Prague, 33rd in the Champions League. I mean, it's pretty damning, isn't it? Still good. Not very good. I mean, at least we're better than some teams. Right. Yeah. I'm sure it'll be fine. I'm sure everything's going to be fine. we're trying to if we try to spin that instead of saying the Champions League what about in their own league like Slavia Prague I think they're top Kovacan they must be top they've got to be the Everett must be somewhere like seventh or something like that yeah exactly yeah who wrote this that was full of agenda that message who wrote it prove anything prove anything with facts can't it one final thing what did you did you make of the handing out of Spurs flags.

55:47It wasn't a flag, scarves. Scarves. I mean, I know it doesn't look great after you've just been beaten 3-0 and there was a tweet from a guy, I can't remember his name now. Is this fullback something? Fullback 0-3? Dave Ellis. And he's wrapped the scarf around his face so he can't see. Yeah. But look, that's a move in the right direction to bring in fans, give them something. I'm not, you know, if we win, and I loved when they were singing, when the Spurs and all the flags were up, that looked good. Seen some good picks, yeah. Yeah, so steps in the right direction. It's a nice gesture, but when you watch that performance and lose 3-0, that gesture is evaporated immediately.

56:36It's also a little bit, though, like... They don't know, don't they? No, no. in the simpsons with mr burns sorry they can never give out any or do anything good just in case we get bad

56:52we're just saying it's a bit like in the uh in the old simpsons where mr burns wants to keep all the plebs happy so he gives them free sachets of tartar sauce in the in the power plant canteen

57:06it's a little bit like it's a bit of a pat on the head oh they've been booing what should we do just give him some scarves do you know what I mean no not those ones those old shit ones that we couldn't sell last year giving them that's cynical isn't it that's me yeah that is very cynical I don't think that's what it is I think there is there is an outreach but you're fine to be is that Vinay is that Vinay doing that do you reckon I think there's definite there's definite movement he's got his fingerprints all over it it has and I think it's a positive thing there's a lot of work to do but I think it feels like there's an opening up at a football club to some degree that felt like a communist state last year.

57:44Can't criticise Daniel Ruby. Don't criticise him. He'll get upset. So they fired him. Do you see there's a lot of stuff floating around on Twitter? I shared it with Ricky as well. Peter Charrington, the mysterious man that got brought into restructure Tottenham's finances, apparently came in and has seen that a lot of the loans, a lot of the deals that were put in place for Tottenham for the infrastructure purposes inherent within those put a cap on what we could spend on the football pitch so you know Is that true? Someone said it on the internet mate Can I see where someone has said it on the internet?

58:22I'd be curious to see what's wrong Say something while I find you Okay How is your mum? I hope she's well I thought you had a an armistice only on only for only for Ricky not not you you're a guest so you're much fair game uh yeah so i don't know man let's do another question while Jack finds this uh this father's day do more with dad and spend less with low prices guaranteed at the home depot get him fired up with a new grill and accessories like the next grill five burner for just$299 so you can spend more time together while he becomes the grill master he was always meant to be. 1:00:25I, um, hang on a second, let me just, uh, find... I did some... yeah I think we've Spencer's reaction to be being taken off what did you make of that apparently he was injured but then he was like doing some he was waving his arms about it wasn't he didn't look too through his coat didn't he I don't think I mean my dad was annoyed so for what it's worth I think I thought I could kind of if I'm being kind to Frank I could kind of understand like having a bit of balance having a left-hand sided player but it didn't make him I think we probably got worse yeah so what did it say Jack what do you mean well you're going to look for this message I'll send it to you on WhatsApp oh right I thought he was going to read it out what do you mean I thought you were asking me about the Jets Spence for a second okay so this is from ChefSupremum2.0 financial restructuring as I promised Tottenham are restructuring their firements as I promised Is he an ITK guy?

1:01:29Yeah, I think so. All right. The loan, he says, the loan 2.6 % left in place secured by Daniel Levy across the stadium is a low rate, but confidence restricts the wage bill from growth without owner funding to offset the difference. Lewis family are preparing to offset the club's new hunger to compete against the club's massive commercial capabilities, which are untapped. Large investment in Tottenham's playing stock squad is expected to begin in January.

1:02:00right so the point was essentially that Daniel Levy was running an operation at limited Tottenham on the football pitch I mean it's nice if that is true based on it's nice to know that we weren't all just mad like our suspicions about him I think universally in the last couple of years about is it a choice to not to run at a 40 % wage to turnover ratio? Or is it that we can't get out, you know, there's no way out of it. The reality is he didn't have any money. He's a owner of Enoch and it was not, I mean, I guess it's his request to inject money that they may have done, but he himself doesn't have any money or significant enough to change this.

1:02:52Whereas the Lewis family do have tons of fucking money, loads of it. so it was basically a choice by him to manage the club in the most self-sufficient way as possible and that isn't one that can win you a premier league or challenge for it so if lewis family are coming in that's the key difference between the two right continue to maximize the wealth and opportunities that you get to spend through having large revenues and put the owner funded money into the football club so we have a chance um all right that'll do i mean i don't feel too bad i feel all right now yeah i mean ricky's face when he turned up honestly i felt like i asked him to go to his own funeral he looks so unhappy but if it looks a bit better now a little bit yeah i do i feel better i feel better i've got it all out yeah yeah i've got it got a lot of it out Right.

We jump straight into the post Forest misery and try to work out what Thomas Frank’s Spurs are actually trying to do, because right now it feels like passing it around the back with zero conviction. There’s a proper rant about the Vicario to Archie Gray disaster, the endless long range bangers we keep gifting teams, and why the fanbase has gone fully toxic if that poll is anything to go by. Plus we touch on the scarf giveaway, the weird vibes from the touchline, and the latest “finance restructuring” whispers doing the rounds.
