35I've got Ricky and we've got Cal that's not the right energy is it we've got Ricky yeah and we've got Callum right gents I just want to play you something that made me laugh that I saw on Twitter sideways and backwards everywhere we go everywhere we go sideways and backwards Everywhere we go Sideways and backwards Everywhere we go Everywhere we go Sideways and backwards Everywhere we go Sideways and backwards They're the best aren't they They're the best Our away fans are the best That was actually Birmingham City's away fans It just shows the epidemic is everywhere Football has become and has become The most boring sport on earth um yeah so god what i mean could you was that the most boring 90 minutes of football you've ever been first nil nil the spurs have been involved in i don't know since 2021 or something crazy really against thomas franks brentford was it yes yeah it was i was i've just done a podcast on the lab to go over and listen to this with a Brentford fan called Adam who's a football football photographer season ticket holder down there and I was like what did you think about?
07like how did you feel? and he's like yeah I was terribly bored it was an awful game of football and I say is this what Frank is this what he is? and he's like no no at Brentford this isn't what we saw don't get me wrong against like good teams we played a certain way and he would react to whatever was in front of him but he just said I just don't think that I mean there is an issue with Frank uh and there are issues with how he speaks in the press when things are bad he said that that was something at Brentford the constant praising another team but it's just the way he is and um something you have to accept when you're winning it's not a problem when you're losing it's a big problem but he said he said no look we saw a different completely different and I was just thinking I asked a simple question.
52If you plonked Visser and Mbumo, Shada in the Spurs team would be any better? And he said, yeah, maybe. I mean, he said that those players were excellent. But when he had Ivan Toni, he played direct football. When he had those two up front, he realised he had to play on the ground. So, I don't know. I was like, do you know what I really, really wanted to do, boys? About 20 minutes into the game, I just wanted to turn the darts on that's what i wanted to do i wanted to watch the darts but i was lute littler was on he was frying bombs and i was just like this is great i'm really entertained i really i'm sitting down i'm watching sport on british tv and i'm in i'm enjoying myself with a little glass of wine enjoying myself i've got to stop enjoying myself now do i i've got to i have to i knew what was going to happen my enjoyment as soon as i hit that button was just going to stop uh and so it did and I sat there for 19 minutes.
51A couple of times I went for a fag or I had to do something. And like five minutes past, I said, fuck, I better go back and watch football. And the ball was about 10 feet from where I left it.
06What was your take home, Rick? I was just watching it and I felt like just getting my nails and dragging them down my face because I was just so fucking bored and angry at the same time. And I was like fucking hell, man. Bored and angry is about it. They're like the worst emotions together. I was like, this is abomination. This is fucking horrible. At least someone do something. It's like sex 14 years into a marriage, isn't it? Yeah. You're lying on top of each other, sort of moving your pelvis. And then you go, something's got to happen eventually. That's what it felt like, just missionary after 14 years.
50uh mate it was just i can't even take like i it's it's a strange kind of hill to be like okay after that um i'm frank out you are i've been on this pod so many times of saying i still i still not that i'm frank in yeah he's the guy to take us to the promised land but i want to wait for a bit more time i want to wait for transfers i want to wait for the stuff of the cloud the club and everything to kind of calm down with the boardroom changes and paratici off and on and all of it it's all like just up in the air but then i was like what have we been doing in training like we know this is a problem and I just, I'm not seeing any kind of green shoots, any progression of any of it.
50And it can't go on like this. And although it's been like this in a lot of games before it, that game yesterday was like, I don't know what to do now. I can't keep going into bat for you, Frank, to be like really positive and thinking this is going to work out because at the moment I'm starting to turn and it's not a place that I thought I'd find myself. I'm not saying I'm frank out, but it's like I am not seeing any kind of positivity in that final third. Rick, do me a favor. Can you just turn the sensitivity of your mic down? You can keep popping. Just, I think you'll have to do it in the settings rather than, you always do that.
34Right, fine. Yeah, you just, people are like,
40I love how much Flav hates it when you touch the dials because it's just the natural thing to do. It's just the natural thing to do is go, oh, you're a bit loud, mate. And you go, oh, you see these dials right in front of you. And you go, oh, I'll touch these. There you go, am I safe? So basically, the mics that these guys have got, right, is there's a little gain mic on the side, right? And every time I mentioned them, always, they always touch these fucking dials. And every time I'm going, it ain't that. Mate, if there's a knob in front of me, I'm going to touch it. Nice. It's still a bit bad.
12If you're fucking hell. Just turn it down 10%. Sorry. The audience shouldn't have to hear this. Right. Cal.
22You've been Frank out for a while, right? Oh, God, yeah. I think it's... Arsenal, probably. Right. Yeah. Right. Probably Arsenal. you know I think I think it's pretty obvious it's a couple of things really I fucking detest this group of players as well there's not really many of them I wouldn't I'd keep van der Ben the rest of them if someone came in for a price I'd sell them I think there was a couple of times last night I absolutely lost my fucking head I hate watching the TV watching football on the TV it just brings out the worst in me normally when I'm at the stadium I'm just standing next to T or next to Rick just talking bollocks trying to make them laugh basically is what I'm trying is usually what I'm I enjoy being at the stadium but being at home on your own it's the hardest way in a DH gate shirt sat on the sofa feeling like a div right are you putting the shirt on for the game no no I sometimes do but no no not lately you lie your missus has got it like ironed out and laid out on the bed like she does from your pyjamas what were you wearing today babe in the yellow get the shorts ready get the socks I think I'm going to wear the black the black the black shirt today love there's definitely people out there that wear the full kit definitely but what I don't understand why people when they're watching the football they put the shirt on and it's just them in the room like who are you putting the shirt on for even if there's people around what they you're looking at you going yeah he's proper Spurs him you're sitting on your own on the sofa that's like the opposite of proper Spurs isn't it yeah it's to be fair it's to be fair proper spurs are those legends it were in the away end who are just it's come to the point where they're just making up their own fun now which you can completely understand right so they should yeah yeah yeah so uh ben bone was there again i think was he he was yeah yeah and he uh well and everyone could hear them singing songs about martin y 'all Jermaine Defoe uh Van der Ven and Alderweireld and in a way it's some some of the best protests I've seen in football it's like a whole really wholesome but really cutting as well that the football is so shit that we can't sing about the players that were in front of us we have to sing about players of the yesteryear who we believe embody what it means to be Spurs and I think to Thomas Frank, when he was on the sideline, he's thinking, God, they're behind us, those boys.
54They're really behind us. Full time, I'm going over there, giving them a clap. So he's walking, strolling over there, thinking they've been singing all 90 minutes, bless them. What a team. We're playing turgid football. I understand it's not what they want. I'm going to get there, but I love the fact they're supporting us. And he goes over, he goes past the first plane, and he's just on there, and there all he is. Boo! Boo! Get away from me! Fuck off! Fuck off out of my sight, Thomas. he must have thought what the fuck is going on here adam said on the podcast he went the most bizarre situation at the end was that the brentford fans were applauding uh thomas frank at the end and he was clapping him and he turned to spurs fans and all going boo fuck off so good so good yeah uh dearie me i think eric dyer even had a song going for him as well yeah yeah eric dyer we want our money back yeah boring boring Tottenham all of it all come out all came out the whole repertoire yeah lovely stuff obviously Brendan Johnson Johnson again LA yeah that was yeah that's protest as well you know there's definitely an element of protest in that as well what are you going yeah of course the guy's a club legend like and our top scorer there's a lot of revision these like we are we hounded him off social media last year for fuck's sake there's a lot of revisionism going on about fucking Brendan Johnson right now I'm reading some of it I was like what?
21it's like the entire 18 months erased from everyone's mind now oh well look you know top goal scorer you know one who won it for us in Bilbao I mean there was a little bit more to it I don't even know if he scored the goal I'm not sure it wasn't actually an own goal and I'm not even trying to take anything away from him at all I like him I think he's a nice bloke and he did his best he did his best every time and that's all you can ask right? but let's not revise let's not look back and sort of build him up to be something he wasn't like that's nonsense I think it's fair for we're watching a team every week that are struggling to score goals and we sell top last season's top scorer I think people are well within their rights to be a little pissed off about that without a replacement lined up by the way I think people are well within their rights to be annoyed at that and we watch Kudus go down the line and go do you know what I'll do lads i'll fucking turn back again and i'll pass the ball back i think you mate you have when johnson has started a game of football you you've got the things you've said about brendan johnson in the whatsapp please shut the fuck up you've got no leg to stand please like i like all that all i'm saying is is i get why people might be a little disappointed i think selling him is probably the right time to sell him outside of outside of being at the far post and being a fucking back post monster what really does he offer like i'm with you on that i'm absolutely with you on that but i think people are well within their rights to watch that team turn in that performance week after week not really create anything and then watch our top goal scorer walk out the door i think that i think people are well within their rights to piss off what do you what i fair play right i can understand to some degree that if i'm really trying to understand it what you're taking top line information, like our top goal scorer last year in a team that finished 17th, of which his end product was a part of the problem.
19He wasn't as bad as others at putting the ball in the net. But in very real terms, what do you want to do? You want to sell a player at peak value at the right time, something that we haven't done for years. When it's happening, now people are critical. I don't understand it really. No one wants to see Brendan Johnson starting for Spurs. No one. Do they? No. Am I out? I thought, Cal's thrown me here. I thought, I'm just saying, we don't have, no one's come in behind him yet. The window's been open about fucking 36 hours. Yeah, and we fucking sold our top scorer who didn't hesitate doing that, did we?
00Our window's open off you, pop son. See you later. There's your medal. Fuck off. What do you do? Yeah, great. If the player we want to sign, wherever that might be, God knows. Right? It doesn't come in until the 28th. Does that mean you just wait until that point to sell him? Or do you just... I don't know. Like, I don't even think, really, even if we bring no one in, it doesn't damage us that much. Fucking hell. We're a good injury. What if we don't bring... Sorry, what if we don't bring a single player in this January? I'm saying if we don't replace Johnson... Right, okay. It's not going to shift the needle that much.
39That's how in a pro in, in, I don't know. I'm surprised. I, I thought I was, I thought I was the sensible one here, but maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe I'm being too, maybe we shouldn't have sold him. You're out of touch. No, no, I think, I think it's a right time to sell him. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I, I, I think for what we're trying to like, like you're saying, Cal, But apart from him being a back post monster and scoring those goals, he's just a passenger within the game. And you can say, right, well, Kudus didn't score yesterday, but at least he's an outlet. At least when we're under the cosh or we need the ball to go to someone that can at least hold on to it for a good few seconds.
29and he does Kudus does create and he does go at the fullback and he is you know he does give the opposition something to think about and you've seen a lot of teams doubling up on him because they know what he's like and if we get someone on the left hand side let's give him something more to think about he'll have more space because Kudus' mere presence draws him out of shape yes and then you've got Kudus you've got Kulisevsky when he comes back as well I just don't think Johnson stakes a claim to be starting or otherwise on that right-hand side and we can get money for him 35 mil I say we take it because you know thinking back like he was getting dogs abuse and we all felt like he wasn't living up to our expectations and yet it's sad he's a he's a lovely guy I've got like enough respect for him Bilbao and there is no ill wishes you know when you're someone like you're like get him out of my fucking club that's always the way because they're not doing anything but with him I'm completely wishing well apart from playing against us but yeah I've got no ill feeling towards him or anything it's just business 35 million feels like decent money for him I think it's the right decision let's just move on now ever fucking bring that up again I'm very sorry let's just move on alright we've got enough to be fucking miserable about we've got enough to be angry about 35 million pounds for a player who's never going to play more than a bit part role
13I don't know where else to go here really I think let's go with the fact that we should have been definitely down to 10 men I'm interested like I said I spoke to the Brentford fan it's a really interesting conversation actually I'm not keeping keep pushing in this pushing this but it was just it's the perception of a game when you're talking to someone you've just played and there's no needle because there's there's nothing that happened that could make you remotely you know annoyed with each other but when I saw it I was like that looks fine because it looks like he's made a tackle and the ball's come away Romero you look back he misses it and it's the arm that takes it away and he's the last man like I I think it probably should have been a red what do you boys think uh personally I I don't what was it I felt like he was looking at the ball he went for the ball he just missed the ball and then matey is uh running onto it and because he's on the floor it's just run into him the bit where he falls onto the floor and his arm like how you get your foot you've fallen onto the ball and like you're spinning around it's like it's not like an intentional thing so I just feel like if that was in the penalty area and he handled it you get penalty for a handball in most things now whether it's deliberate or not but where that was I don't feel like it was ascending off maybe that's the kind of Romero tinted glasses.
51But I just... He was woeful yesterday, Romero. I thought he was awful. Honestly, there is a point of me where I'm like, Romero is God in defense. He's aggressive. He goes out to meet the ball. He's passing. So much to his game. I love him. But then when he comes up against, what's the guy's name? Is it Thiago? Thiago, yeah, yeah. Yeah, Thiago. He's Brazilian, right? Yeah. When he comes up against another Brazilian, it feels like his main thing. This is the thing that I painted in my head. This game is being screened back in Argentina. And I've got to show my people, I still fucking hate these bastards, right?
38So anytime his focus is, how can I clatter him? How can I like manhandle him? How can I not look stupid? And his focus is on outdoing and outperforming the Brazilian rather than what his position or what he's supposed to be or remaining calm and composed and that sort of stuff. He feels about Argentina. Like, I mean, Brazil, like we feel about Arsenal. And I'm not sure I wouldn't turn, like if I had his ability, turn into a bit of a maniac player. Yeah, yeah. He missed the ball and he got in Thiago's way. And that's why I thought it was a red and I thought he was quite lucky. But I also thought we should have had a penalty.
18I thought the foul on Archie Gray, I thought that was a penalty. He had control of the ball. He got hit on both sides. He was taken down. I don't understand why that wasn't. It's like, oh, his next touch meant that he wasn't, he wouldn't have got to the ball. It wasn't a goal-scoring opportunity. It doesn't matter. You don't know what his next touch would have been. and how many times when a player's running out he's going out but a keeper clatters him and he goes over and it's a penalty yeah I 100 % agree people will be like 5cm away from the goal line and it's literally about to go out but they'll give the penalty anyway because it's a foul yeah it was weird weird refereeing performance last night but they generally always are I thought for the red card well the perceived red card and Romero I think the referees would probably argue that the attacker was never in control of the ball he never had the ball he was never in control of the ball so you know then that's possibly why they didn't give it but the penalty I thought it was it's a foul in the penalty area but oh far fucking far they just yeah it's like it has they've gone back to the clear and obvious bit again it has to be an absolutely huge error although it wasn't in the Newcastle game a few weeks back when they gave a penalty against us so it doesn't really make sense the refereeing at this point no no no we've given up a lot i'm taking a lot from the game for the sake of uh getting things right and sometimes it just doesn't seem to to do that in itself very strange strange sort of time we find ourselves in um rick you you want to start throwing the blame at justin cochran you don't think he's catching any strays at all nice oh thanks to team nice actually yeah yeah do you know what i i bang on it like a couple of times to come out and he's going, why ain't Cochran getting any?
02Oh, mate, I'm so, so annoyed. I was so annoyed yesterday. And he's like part of our, you know, offensive coaching. Why are we not seeing any progression like week to week? And for the last couple of weeks, I think we've had like a week in training where we're able to work on stuff. And there just has been no patterns of play recognisable anyway in the final third where we're trying to create and score goals. And it's like everyone's, digging Frank out and I'm like, let's fucking Justin. Let's fucking, let's have him at the table. Let's ask him some questions. But yeah, I'm just, I'm just baffled, man.
42I don't know what to, the way I felt about it yesterday is like, even if we placed our front four yesterday, we would still kind of see something similar. it just doesn't feel like we are working on these even we're working on these patterns of play and they're not getting it or we're just not doing that we're still focusing on being a a solid foundation hard to beat whatever you do don't lose and we'll build on from there and being pragmatic, cautious, give it a kudus, he'll try to do something. And it's like, swing a ball in, Porro, just keep pumping it in. Richie's got to get his head on one of them, surely.
33And it's like, that's what we've got. And it's like, well, I can't see any, like, even, and I don't want to, like, I don't want to keep bringing, I'm not, I haven't kept bringing this up, but under Ange, we got frustrated and we got annoyed and it's like we're getting fucking beat every week and stuff. But then there will be games like Man City or whoever it might have been where we score a goal where exactly we see Andrew's philosophy play out and the way he wants to play football and it'll all click. And sure, it didn't click every game, but there'll be like 10 games a season where you're like, actually, that's something we can hang our hat on.
13That's something that we are working towards. And I feel positive about that. but I just don't see anything like that, which is making me feel, it's making me feel really sad and shit. And I fucking hate this. I really hate this. Do you hate this? Yeah. Have you ever, have you ever, have you ever thought you hated Spurs more than you hate Spurs right now? Oh mate. Oh yeah. I am so fucking annoyed. Well, hang on. Would you, did you hate Spurs? This is good actually. When did you hate Spurs the most? Where, um, surely when we were 4-0 down at Newcastle. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Parasic was playing left back.
54Yeah. Conte had just left us and Stalini was suddenly our manager. A couple of Newcastles in there, for sure. Another one where I, when I was a lot younger and who is it we were playing? Was it actually City in the Cup when we were like two or three nil up? Yeah, quarter final. Three nil up. Yeah. Qualifiers of the FA Cup was around 2003, something like that. I remember, and I was doing my evening job while I was at college, and I was just being an obnoxious cock, freeing it up, fucking giving it, hey, Tottenham boys here, hey, hey. By the time I drove home, I got in, key in the door, put Sky Sports on, we were losing 4-3, and what the fuck has happened here?
42That game was the biggest jolt I've ever had in my life. When you're just looking at something, I think it's reshaped my DNA to some degree. That game was so hard to take. Like 3-0, Joey Barton's been sent off at halftime. They come back at home. And this isn't Man City. There's any resemblance of the Man City we know now. No. This was shit little Man City. We would pump these lot all the time. they were awful they went down to league one right and they and and that in in its essence of is that that feeling of oh my god spurs have done this to me again like that is that feels like the essence of our football club some of the essence of you know championship winning teams their essence is glory is feeling excitement exuberation like all of the most all the things you see human beings seek these feelings and find them through artificial means like ecstasy pills right yeah that's how important it is to people the amount of people going out and getting mashed up because they just want to feel great and inevitably feel terribly i'm not pushing taking ecstasy pills but you know you take them and it makes you feel something man united fans through the ages have felt something maybe our thing is just abject misery it's that's what it is and we've got to stop fighting against that and lean into it feel it and enjoy it and react or accept become better that's why i always think like spurs fans they've got to be the best human beings on earth because we've gone through so much
31right um anyway i got distracted so frank in frank out uh was um you know we're doing this constant survey and it isn't a survey because no one actually replies or isn't sent out it's taken as a mean average from all of the conversations that are happening on the internet by the way of fan narrative.com and so um it's dipped as you could imagine we've lost the frank inners have lost another three percent of their total 3.32 percent increase in frank out so that's over three quarters now calling for frank to be gone uh but some people are saying there's no no manager out there they can get a song out of these players anyway uh which without kulisovsky madison javi solanke we're always going to end up playing that kind of football which is there's a there is a that's relatively fair to some degree right we had no creativity out there and a large part of that was because the personnel, the players that have that spark that can create something aren't available to us as well.
41Can you defend Frank in any way to that degree? Like, is it understandable that we're blunt because those creative players aren't available to us? Like Gray in the 10, first time he's ever played there in his life? No, I think that's criminal, really. I think playing Archie Gray, who's a 19-year-old defensive defender. What would you do? Who would you play? I'd play Odder Bear at 10 and Tell on the left as well. I try and win the football match, which is what Thomas Frank doesn't do. He doesn't try to win the football match. He tries to not lose the football match every game. And you, you had the kind of mannerisms and stuff.
18I try and win the football match. I try. No, no, that's great. Let's try and win the game. It's true though, isn't it? It's true. Try and win the fucking game. 10 on the left. Let's try and win the football match. Try and win the game. And you're still playing Paulinho and Bentancourt. Two sixes in essence. You're still playing a pretty, not negative, defensive kind of set up. But you put Alderbeer in front of him, who's good at running. He can, you know, he's playing away from home. So he hasn't got the mean Spurs fans there that are making, you know, that are stopping him expressing himself like he'd like to.
52You know, he's away from home. Go and express yourself, son. Tell them two play together all the time. Yeah. Just go on the left. That was from someone somewhere said that part of Odebe's problem is that when he plays at home, he feels the pressure from the fan base. It fucking winds me up. But is it, is that true? Do we know categorically that he said that? No, it's just... But I can't remember, was it on a podcast? Someone said... Yeah, it was, what's his name? Paul O 'Keefe on, might have been one of the other podcasts. Said it. Right, nice. Don't mention his name, nice. Ricky would have gone mental if you don't.
31Yeah, no, no, good. I would never. I would never Rick, never. Yeah, good. But it's potentially dangerous information now, right? Because - I don't see who benefits from that. He doesn't benefit. Who benefits from that? It's just to put it out there. I don't know if that's a good thing for us as fans to know. Like, I don't know. And someone's leaked that to this person as well, knowing what kind of his gig is. And that's the thing. there seems to be this kind of movement to gaslight fans into believing that it's kind of our fault but who in the football club is pushing this information across that could potentially damage the reputation of one of our players and why do they think this is a good idea i understand paul o 'keefe having the information and saying it because we want makes a living yeah but but also he it's this it's newsworthy information and fans will want to hear it if it's true right to know we want to know the mental temperament of our players given the fact that some of them are not performing at home but what is the motive of the person in the football club giving that information why are they doing it like what what what is it that they see their information out there and they get a buzz from it especially information that can fucking like cow now hates odor bear because he thinks he's like a little girl and he can't cope with pressure cow's not 100 % Cal's not 100 % sure it's even true but he's going to now have that opinion of him and when Odor Ben next doesn't take his man on Cal's going to say well what's that your anxiety fucking get back we pay you how much get fucking running son yeah in terms of the bleakest periods I've had I think losing to Hull at home Giovanni free kick that was a pretty Aveco-y yeah yeah yeah weren't it yeah that was a bad why was that bad why was that time so bad what run of games would we go for it because it was Rambo's ah okay it's the hope innit because we bought loads of players we beat was it Roma we beat in the pre-season game like 5-0 yeah we're gonna win we won every pre-season game that's it yeah and then the season starts so the hope's like there and then the season starts we just fucking lose oh fuck we're still shit fuck all the pre-season I thought that we weren't shit because we won the games but it don't matter and then we go away Middlesbrough first game I think it was and I think we may have drew it was bad though and we're like oh no we're shit still damn damn and not only we shit after eight games we're bottom in the league oh god yeah that was pretty was that the same season as Stoke when we went down to nine men Kuala Luka Gomez that I think that came a little bit late.
26I might be wrong. You might have came a little bit late. I'm not sure. It was like Ben, was it? Kabul? Berbatoff had left that summer, I think. I might be wrong. I can't remember. I can't remember. But that was pretty bleak. I don't feel, the thing is, right now, I don't feel bleak. I don't feel like we're at risk of going down. I just feel, I just feel nothing. like the the pragmatism that emanates from thomas frank is now seeping into my bones where i'm just like i'm not excited about anything i feel very little um like anger and boredom like you say ricky's there but even the anger's subsiding now i'm sort of being lulled into his trap into his lair and then come inside it's fine it'll be all right you won't feel it's like I feel like I'm being given force-fed antidepressants by Spurs.
25Every part of my feeling, I can't feel really low, but I can't feel really high. I'm just sort of middling in the middle. And that's what watching that kind of football will do to a man. Yeah. I just feel like just drawing a line under the season now and just saying, stop, just stop playing, wait until the summer, we'll go again. That's how I feel. I feel like we're just waiting for this season to play out. for it to come to the summer and for us to say, Frank, it's not working. You've got to go. And then we're just waiting at Heathrow for Potch to come and then he'll come in, rub his hands together.
05We'll have that, you know, we'll feel like a football club again, a community, somewhere where we belong. We've got our Tottenham back. 10 games in we ain't won a fucking thing have we back to square one on and on it goes baby can't wait to want you to see Potch's head on a stick 12 months from now that's what we are that's what we are mate that's what we do that's what we do here I wonder it's interesting this this quote that's resurviced from Poster Coglu eight years ago where he um did south what's it mean australia just drawn a game won all with south american champions chile and he said like he was being criticized his style of players as always was being criticized and he said at some point in time i'll get replaced by john the pragmatist and you can all be happy revel in it and I was asked the question earlier on today is that if you could snap your fingers and have Ange back and Frank gone just like that just replaced gone like that we're not saying give them five-year deal but in this moment in time if you had one manager to lead you to the end of the season and it's Ange or it's Frank snap your fingers do you snap your fingers and make it happen cal i knew he's gonna ask me there's only two of you i'm not speaking to you're gonna get it yeah do you know what yeah i would because i'm not not because you know what it is it's not because he's i wish sometimes people could see the video of this podcast Ricky's face went his eyes went massive this is going to be box office it's like in the early days of the fighting cock where you guys had to do the 60 seconds to justify something terrible wrong in 60 seconds yeah that it's like that but that's all it is the main thing is that even and even in the towards the very end when we knew like it was it was only really the Europa League left when he would go out into a press conference and he would speak, I do still think he was a fantastic speaker and he spoke for all of us.
28When he spoke about the threat of Tottenham winning a trophy and what that was doing to other fans and the media, actually, I fucking loved him for that. Because it was how I'd felt for a long time, but he was able to articulate it on a much bigger stage than I ever could. And I just thought that was brilliant. Whereas Thomas Frank, the football is woeful, but he's also awful at speaking. like he's terrible with the media as well so to have one or the other yeah I would I'd have Ange back even just you talking about how well Ange communicated I was like yeah get him back not even about the football just the way he talks if he can talk well then that's it I'm thinking when we when he did have Romero and Van der Ven we were quite good yeah I don't know maybe give him a let's give him a call let's give him a call let's give him a call I did ask I did ask on Twitter the other day who's our Martin O 'Neill because Celtic didn't they they sacked their coach and then they brought Martin O 'Neill back who ended up doing really well yeah he won nine games in ten yeah and then they brought in Wilfred Nante yeah who's done nothing whose record was worse than Angie's not only done nothing like done like it's taken them backwards they're furious they've got this American geezer they don't I think he's French actually and he's gone to manage Celtic and he's pulled out one of the tactics boards which is not the end of the world they just want to show this little tiny palm sized tactics board and he wants to show his players where to be because he's only had a short amount of time it's not the end of the world but they do come with them a little bit of criticism when you see a manager having one but the counters he's used are blue instead of green it just shows like a lack of understanding of where you are and what you're doing especially that club um yeah so maybe maybe in the season but uh is there an argument that with the players returning right and the players we're going to bring in in january because we're in the market according to thomas frank that we should at least give our chance ourselves a chance to see what he might be able to do with better players because he did regardless of what you thought about him and whether or not he's up to the job last season Brentford would have joined fifth highest scorers in the in the Premier League they didn't have a problem scoring it wasn't an issue for them they had the um well they currently have the second best home form in the league as well so it's like maybe with the players he might maybe we don't have the personnel maybe having no number 10 is a big problem when you're playing Brentford are quite secure at home as well like when it's all grey in a 10 you're just like I don't know I don't know what the answer is but I'm pretty sure it's not that yeah it's definitely not that it's what it's what what Cal said it's Oda Bear Tell on the left or Mawani on the left yeah try and win the football match mate
39try and win man what Tom No, I think it's... What are you scared of, Thomas? Yeah, you just... We know how to lose. We know how to deal with losing. We love it. We've seen so much of it this year, Tom. We've seen so much. I've seen it's got bad, bad over again. Do you know what? When in the darts, when they sing, and this is how much we live rent-free in these people's lives, Tottenham get battered everywhere they go. I'm on the sofa singing with the people, right? I know it. I love it. I love it, right? But what I don't love is not giving it a go. I don't mind getting bad every week, but I want to fucking at least go for the jugular.
17Yeah. And it does stem back to that Arsenal game, Cal. I meant to say when you said that, that was so damaging. I don't think he understood it at the time. I don't think we all did. I've never been more embarrassed by a performance against Arsenal as I was that. We just didn't try. If we wanted to try, we were too scared. The tactics were too reductive. and you cannot do that as a Spurs manager. Brentford maybe, whatever, as a Spurs manager, you cannot play Arsenal and play that way and from that point onwards, I think for a lot of fans, that hurt. Because we've got to go into, well, not me, but you've got to go into work and face these crittens and they're well within their rights to say we absolutely bent you over.
08I'm just imagining Ricky's little brown bum now yeah yeah yeah formal orderly cue lads take your ticket from the corner no pushing in he's gooning him mate he's queuing up uh wallop wallop what whack Rick's going ah ah

33what do you make to where like I'm trying to I'm trying to be not trying to be positive but Frank's kind of remarks about going to Brentford. They've not lost a lot at home. And I think they've turned over quite a few clubs. I think they put three past Liverpool. They put three past someone else as well. Man United. And then we go there. And although we get a point, they didn't score either. And it's like a good, solid defensive performance. performance do you take any kind of positivity out of that any kind of i don't know hope is there anything if you're drowning and you see bubbles in the water do you think that that's gonna you're gonna be able to breathe because there's pockets of air in the water if you're 10 feet down in an ocean and there's sharks circling you.
35Yeah. At least there's bubbles in the water because there's oxygen in it. Yeah. No, you're fucking dead and then you're eaten. Yeah.
45Yeah, I didn't really take anything from that. I was just like, mate, do you know what I mean? I've got to try and come on here and try and be a bit like, at least there's something, guys. They're drowning. You know, come on, man. They're drowning and the sharks are circling. God. Tottenham get battered everywhere they go everywhere they go I'm walking around the house pumping my fist Tottenham get battered everywhere everyone knows it I know it as well now yeah everywhere we go I fucking hate that wind me up yeah sorry just enjoy it but I mean we're not the irony here is we're not getting battered it's two you know clean sheets yeah a win away to who the fuck did we win Palace Palace tough place to go Palace tough place to go then we go to Brentford tough place to go tough place to go the toughest place to go is Wale Wale yeah Sunday Sunday against Sunderland they were tough to beat I am actually like it's I said it a few times this season I'm not looking forward to it it's going to be fucking freezing as well what time you're setting off God knows I don't even want to think about it.
02Go on, Kibab. You're right. You just enjoy the day, Ricky. It's not about the football. It's about the people you go with. Yeah, it is. Yeah, you're right. But at the same time, I want to fucking see us win, please. But if the moment something happens, Sunderland go 1-0 up, they get a penalty, whatever it might be, that atmosphere and stadium is just on a knife's edge. The slightest thing that goes wrong, you know, the deck of cards are going to come down and it's going to be unpleasant, to say the least. Spurs in the Premier League first halves this season, shots, 20th. Shots on target, 20th.
46That's system. That's definitely system. It's got to be system. Not just players, that's system. I think that's where the anchor comes from. I think that's why I'm saying, I'm just, but I felt the same way about it. I feel even stronger this season than I did about Ange. There was points of Ange last season, I was like, why is he still there? I remember putting in the WhatsApp people, why is he still there? Why is he still there? But this time, it's like, no, why is he still there? Like, why is he still employed by us? Like, there's just, you can't really, there's very little positive about him.
14He's not a great speaker. The football's really bad. He goes into games to draw. Maybe Nick could get a set piece and win the game that way. Why is he still there? What are we doing? I guess we've spent loads of money to get him out of Brentford, but why is he still there? I think that's the thing that's winding me up a little bit. But our football is so based on scoring first. If we don't score first against Sunderland, we'll be in trouble. But if we score first against Sunderland, we'll probably win the game because we're quite good at kind of setting up shop and being, you know, defensive and all of that.
45Like Palace, we scored the first goal and that was it. We didn't really like conceding forwards, 70th minute onwards. And that seems to be what the game is built. our football is if you're a Premier League coach coming up against Frank he's going to spam crosses he went with James Alcott I've got the fucking right arm with him out in our tactics James Alcott fucking he's out in our home game plan our whole game plan is spam crosses that's what it is spam crosses they know that so they double up on Kudus they double up on Odebeer and it doesn't feel like we're spamming crosses no because we can't they double up on our wingers yeah we're trying it we're trying it They know that.
24They know. Yeah. They know. They know that we're going to spam crosses. So they double up on our wingers. None of our midfielders can use the ball. They're all ball carriers and all runners. And we're just easy to defend against. And so that's why if we score the first, if the other team score the first goal, we're fucked. If we score the first goal, we've got a chance. But yeah, if we don't score the first goal, we're in trouble. Because they're doubling up on the gooders. Yeah. And it's like, okay. I can't double up on everybody. Like, move the ball around. But Porro, and it's like, right, you stick the cross in.
55And because he's so far back at one point, I swear he tried to cross in from the halfway line. Mate, you've got to get forward. Get forward. You can't just chuck it in from there. I lost my head twice last night. I think it was stoppage time. We just started to get some territory. We just started to push them back. Porro's got the ball on the right-hand side. No one's pressing him. Nobody's pressed him at all. Ains goes, punts it straight up the other end of the pitch and gives the ball straight back to him. I fucking lost my mind. And then Vicario, same thing. Stopped his time, bit of pressure.
30And they're like, there was players come close to him. And they're like, give me the ball. And he's gone, no, no, run up there so I can kick it long. He kicks it long, gives the ball straight back to him. So it's not all on Frank. We've been talking about Frank a lot on this. But these players, and Justin, he's fucking, yeah. But these players, man. Someone said that Vicario shows the composure of a teenage boy being masturbating while his mum walks in the room. Yeah. It's on me! It's on me! Oh my God! Have you ever... Do you ever... Have you ever been caught? No, nearly. You've got to be some sort of fucking moron to get caught wanking, to be honest.
18Yeah. Oh, nearly. Yeah, nearly. Yeah, nearly. I nearly got caught, but luckily. The other day, wasn't it? Yeah. No, this is like when I was, must have been around like 14, 15, somewhere around there. And it was late at night. Everyone's gone to bed and I thought, see's my chance. Yeah. And then I heard my mum coming. 10 minute preview. And she was like, are you okay? And I panicked. I didn't know what to do. so i said i'm i'm feeling really ill i'm out of control yeah she said i'm feeling really hot no i said i'm feeling really hot she's like we'll take your covers off then if you're feeling really she started to peel them back and i was like oh my god i've got my boxes down to my ankles here like fucking hell what am i gonna do i was like no no no i meant i'm cold i'm cold give me my covers she's like all right i'll let you be then she walked out and i was like thank god for that um someone i can't say who it is but you'll be listening to this it's very close to me um he came back from the pub and uh he had a big tv in his room and um he'd fallen asleep with loads of porn on the tv oh no right and he woke up in the morning with a cup of tea next to his nightstand something like this i might be butchering this but he'd also taken to bed a snickers bar and fallen asleep before eating it or half eating it so he woke up naked with snickers all over his body the porn off and the cup of tea next to him discombobulated was not the uh not the word um sorry while we're on the car what did you make of him the other card for time wasting can i just do a link quickly oh sorry sorry uh it's just uh get talking about wanking um why don't you get a discount off of nordvpn's plan go to nordvpn.com forward slash the fighting cock our link will also give you four extra months free on a two-year plan so there's no risk nord will give you a 30-day money-back guarantee the link is in the podcast description you know what i'm saying to you is that this is such a good product that if you I thought that the porn ban coming in would mean that everyone would just get a NordVPN and just get around it that way.
41But there's been a 70 % drop in the UK in usage of Pornhub. Mental. It's working. So it's so easy to get around this. And parental locks. Right? If you have a parental lock and your wife's like, well, we've got kids now. You can't wank anymore because we don't want to see them. You don't want them seeing the stuff. Yeah. just download NordVPN on your phone with one click it goes past safety anything any locked sites that get prevented by because it's not just because you've got kids don't mean you don't you know you still want to see a bit so NordVPN you can work all week imagine you're going to work all week after Christmas right Christmas was lovely you go back first week of January and then your missus goes you can't spaff anymore you can't not allow why why can't I because the government of taking it away taking it away no more spaffing yeah you're not allowed but you are unless you put all your ID in yeah yeah I don't want what do you want you want me to put my driver's license into a website at 2am in the morning like what are you on about why would I want to do that I'm paranoid at that point anyway I'm scared of everything at that moment okay fine you don't have to do that we'll do a face scan instead to see how old you are right will that work out for you we were taking one or the other oh sorry go on then and then the camera comes on your big red bright panic ridden face dust all over your nose go on then go on I want it out I want the spaff out nordvpn.com dot com dot com uh link is in the description below what was you going to say uh Vicario and his yellow card for time wasting I saw quite a lot of uh on 60th minute yeah 60th minute and it's like what have we become where Vicario's getting a yellow card for time wasting in the 60th minute that's the team that we are it's ridiculous and again talking to this Brentford fan he was like he took his his missus to I think it was her first game at Brentford and obviously from someone who doesn't know football uh she was asking the question why has Vicaria just been booked out of nowhere and he was like because he doesn't think they can win.
53Oh. And that's it, isn't it? Yeah. You want the ball in play if you think we can win. Yeah. He doesn't think we can win. Let's draw down time at nil-nil away to fucking Brentford when we're Tottenham Hotspur. Yeah. And he gets booked on six. I've never seen a goalkeeper get booked on 60 minutes ever. Maybe 85 when he's taking, proper taking a piss when it's right to do it. he got booked then because the referee was like what the fuck are you doing your time wasting on 59 minutes I think I don't want to spread misinformation but I'm pretty sure I heard Thomas Frank say he enjoyed the amount of time it took to restart the ball or something along those lines where that was a positive that we've kept the ball out of play I don't know if I shouldn't have said that I'm so sure if it's true I think it might be true but everybody hates him already so I'm not making it with that right boys that'll do I think thank you very much your mum has probably just arrived Rick so yeah well don't should I no bye

Boredom, anger, Frank fatigue, timewasting on 60 minutes, selling Brennan Johnson, and the creeping fear that Spurs have stopped even trying to win football matches.
