In short
The hosts discuss Tottenham Hotspur’s recent poor performances (including a loss to Fulham) and debate whether manager Thomas Frank should be kept or sacked. They analyze tactics, player decision-making (especially build-up play and passing backward), culture/atmosphere, and captaincy—plus fan behavior and a “mugging”/blindness bit. They also include multiple ad reads (tax filing, insurance, drinks, VPN, etc.).
Guests
No specific guests appear in the transcript. The episode is a panel-style conversation among the regular hosts (Rick, T, Flav, and others referenced), plus mentions of external people (e.g., Mitch from Fan Narrative, and Anatole Pang in a different podcast).
Key claims
Spurs’ issues are “by design” (risk-averse/percentage football, reliance on set pieces, reluctance to play forward). Bentancur’s role has “stunted” his game. Romero’s captaincy and social media apology post are criticized/parsed. Fan approval for Frank is very low (around 8–15% in their poll).
Notable examples
Van der Ven’s penalty appeal vs Bournemouth; Richarlison changing the game after coming on; Tell’s goal for Spurs; a curling shot by Bergvall; Romero’s Instagram apology; Fulham match complaints about passing backward and losing possession in the final third.

1:25Availability, amount of discounts and savings, and eligibility vary by state. It's the fighting. It's the fighting. Cock! It's the fighting. It's the fighting. Cock! A camel turner! I push my fingers into my eyes. It's the only way that makes me feel alive. I'll push my fingers in my fucking eyes. I'll do it right now, Rick. I wanted to do it last night, but I'll do it right now. It means I never have to watch Spurs play again. I'll push my fingers right in my fucking eyes. Yeah. It's like a feeling in your throat. I'm going to drive to where you live. I'm going to put both my thumbs in your eyes.
2:15Good. I'd never want to watch that team ever again. You're never going to see your kids again. Fine. If that's the cost of it, then fine. It'll be on the front of the local newspaper. Man drove from Wiltshire all the way to Bedfordshire to drive his thumbs into his friend's eyes. His furs are so bad. Friend is not prosecuting. He says, thanks. No charges. No charges. Oh, Christ. Do you wish you were blind, T? For about four hours a week, yeah. I wish that was possible. Just like opt out of sight. Opt out of one of the five senses. You in or you're out. Can't opt out of sight. There's some super powerful shit.
2:59You in or you're out? Are we going to blind ourselves today? I think we should. I mean, we haven't made packs on this pod before, so this could be the latest one. Maybe just go blind. Yeah. Let us know. We can do it all together. We'll arrange a time, and we're all going to blind ourselves. Use whatever you like. Go out of glass, bleach, drone thumbs, whatever it is. The irony of all this, of course, boys, is it wasn't even that bad. It was all right. The performance was okay, I thought. There was parts of it that were, you know, enjoyable 20-minute salvo in second half where it came on top and it looked like we were going to get back into it.
3:38Van der Ven's penalty, the goal, Charleston hitting the post. And in isolation, it's fine, right? You lose games of football in the Premier League. Of course you do. There's good sides there. that isn't what this is about is it no it's all of the it's all the other stuff that came before it yeah it's like if your missus has cheated on you repeatedly with a man that's previously beaten you up right just because you have one good night together doesn't mean or one okay night together doesn't mean you forget about all that stuff do you No. No. Got lots of PTSD when that's how many a goal went in.
4:22Of course, by the way, of course. Of course he will fucking score. His last ever kick as a Bournemouth player. Of course he's in the screen wriggers. Fucking hell, man. Do you need a fairytale ending? Cool Spurs. Cool Spurs. You just knew it. You just fucking knew it. Yeah, Dr. Tottenham's doing bits, man. I mean, even adding in extras, like letting him have his final kick be, you know, be the winning goal. Just got to top them away. What are we going to do? I don't know. I felt like this, like last night I went to bed and I was just so down and so despondent about it. Was you sad, Rick? Yeah, I was like proper sad.
5:05It felt like, like I was really, really sad. And I was just like, I'm just going to go to bed and forget about it. And the moment my eyes opened, that feeling just came flooding back. It was like I'd been out. It's like I'd been out the night before and I'd been up to no good. Got back in, next day hung over and Mrs. Digging me out. Kids want to play. I can't do any of that. I just feel awful and then I go to sleep that night and then I wake up and I still remember I still remember it's still on my conscious that you wait you wake up and you thought something what's the bad thing that happened last night yeah oh that's the bad thing that's the bad it's like I don't know punching your stepmom is that kind of feeling i did what i did what i remember that um tidal wave tidal wave peep show for that i can't explain um i see weirdly i'm in a different mind space altogether rick okay i don't feel anything that that isn't that more of a dangerous place yeah oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah it is a dangerous thing when when nothing starts to feel mean anything yeah i'm like when it comes to spurs i'm a nihilist nothing matters win so what lose so what some of frank's our manager so what our players are utter garbage so what they want to fight the fans okay whatever don't care remember is indirecting everybody at the football club yeah good fine i feel nothing i genuinely think my brain protects me at these stages because i i would say i've got to this stage three or four times in the last four years i think like end of conte when it was hell um large parts of postocoglu second season hell um and now hell yeah and i just feel my brain goes you don't have to feel this way and i appreciate you intellectually cannot cope with this so i'm just gonna dial it down a little bit for you my subconscious goes i'm gonna dial this down for you so you don't have to feel all these feelings it's amazing i'm like so many new girls went in they were like yeah of course it's fine yeah whereas you're you're in agony yeah right i am where where are you at t i was gonna say i'm exactly the same as you i was almost in the cut across what you were saying with what you said was so beautiful i thought it's let you go and let you land because it's exactly the same.
7:48I don't feel anything whether we win, lose or draw. I just don't feel anything. I don't feel, there was an anger when the Semenya go in, it was just a siphon. Oh, okay, you know, it's happened again. And every day we're having these conversations about, you know, what's happened to the managers? Did he play? Should he go? You know, as Kanye West once said, you ain't got the answers. And that's exactly what I haven't got the answers. I mean, I think, I think thinking in my head, I think Frank sees the season out barring a relegation charge. And it just is what it is. There's not many outstanding candidates to replace him.
8:23Pochettino was a romantic appointment, should we get him back. There's every chance that he peaked with Tottenham. But I think it would be a home run for the board to get him in. But yeah, I mean, even when we beat Palace the other day, I didn't feel ecstatic. and when we drew against Sunderland I wasn't necessarily erasing I just thought it was just coming and it's just a long line of nothingness and Romero is our captain he does that rant and again I didn't feel I didn't feel to like castigate him I mean I'm not one to comment on football players social media and stuff anyway but if I was at Reading I'd probably say what the fuck are you doing you can't say that which one was you Rachel and Bruce well you know I might have mentioned the Falklands once or twice but no I just looked at the I just thought, this is just, we've just got to let this run its course, haven't we?
9:12It can't last forever, surely. It can't. Football's a very transient sport. You know? You're right. You're right. We are one appointment away from it all. We're feeling much, much better. You're right. You do hold on to that. That's what I think this numbness is. I'm just kind of thinking with the amount of, can you stop fucking putting dates in your mouth? Listen, listen to the... It's a mint now. Sorry. I put myself on mute while I eat it. Sorry. that was back to the old days of the fighting cock right where you and t would he's so polite right but was really hungry he wanted a bit of chocolate or whatever and his eyes would go wide when he'd start chewing thinking the mic could pick it up we just watched t bosh four dates on the bounce um fuck what was i saying i got distracted by that what were we talking about I'm talking about filling nothing and that one appointment away and um being weird yeah no no it's like it's just it's just one of them really it's a friend of the the show Mitch he also runs Fan Narrative who we work with consistently and helps build the running order go and check them out on Twitter he said he's got a new song for us he's the reason we'll be we'll be playing in the championship champion I'll butcher this.
10:32He's the reason we'll be playing in the championship next season. And where the fuck is his mate from Sweden? It's Ben Tanker. Do you know how fucked I am from the game yesterday, right? I sent out an Instagram post request for questions. And I said, we've just been beaten by Fulham. I don't know why, my brain. I said, yeah, we've got beat again by Fulham. Didn't know he just sent it. people were like it was completely useless because everyone just went what do you fucking mean Fulham's I had no questions for the pod by the way my brain is scrambled a scrambled mess yeah Bentoncourt was another it was just a complete mess of a performance again the times and you're like just pass forward you've got the ball in space isn't it Rick just pass forward yeah there was a couple of times in the first half that I was just noticing that he'd have the ball at his feet and I could see tell open wide and a bird ball and it's like he's he's looking at them looking at them waiting waiting then he just passes six yards to his side i was like they're they're they're right there like you can see them just pass forward to them he did that a couple of times and then a couple of times as well he just gave the ball away so cheaply and i was like i just like i know right that i don't want to be like I am fucking going out there and batting for Frank but some of these players are culpable as well man like where Frank has said in previous interviews not for the game yesterday but post-match interviews where he's saying that we're we're losing the ball an awful lot during the game and yesterday again we were we were on the attack on the ascendancy and that final third just losing the ball and then the attack is coming straight back at us and it's like that it's really simple balls that we should be playing and we're just not doing that and I don't know what the fuck is going on but if you cut out half of those we're obviously I don't know whether it leads to a goal or to you know some kind of attack whatever but it's just like you can only do so much as a manager and the players as well have to be responsible for this so I'm not gonna like obviously um I I'm an I'm obviously annoyed with Frank but I'm not laying all of the blame at his door I I agree I agree with you there's decision making on the pitch is falling but there is a culture or an atmosphere that's been created that means that that's become much more regular than it should do players make mistakes passes go awry it's fine you understand it it's consistently poor build-up play and an unwillingness to to put past the ball forward that has to come it has to be direction because you can't be 20th in the league for free balls and it not be some sort of deliberate instruction yeah like people would say well if you had james madison we'd have more if that wolves don't have james madison they don't have anyone near it i don't even know if they have a number 10 i don't know his name but he's doing more free balls than tottenham you know you're that that that um that graph last week about had all the individual midfield players that played against spurs and their forward passes and it was more than our entire midfield altogether.
14:06Granit Xhaka, Adam Watton and Jordan Henderson. In each game, individually played more forward passes than our entire midfield. It's instruction. I also think that there was a lethargy there as well yesterday. I just felt that they weren't trying very hard. And again, that comes from inspiration, I think. I don't know if I'm reading into it too much, but I thought I saw that. If it was like we'll score a goal and then we'll drop off, we never seem to go for the jugglers. It was like we scored the opener, didn't we? I'm forgetting the order of the goals. I think we scored the opener. Yeah, exactly.
14:38We kind of dropped off a bit. And then we got about a 2-2 and then we kind of dropped off. Obviously, it's late in the game. People are tired. But it just doesn't feel like there's a killer instinct. And I think it feels like very much percentage football that we're playing. Obviously, three balls are risky. They're speculative. They don't always come off. But it's like a lot of the play we do isn't really, risk-averse because even if they're set pieces, we're just like, well we're going to rely on set pieces we're going to wait ages to dry the ball off get all our players in the box throw the ball, the defender clears it and it's a waste of fucking time there's nothing like, if you've got I presume if you've got a set piece coach surely you've got to be thinking, well okay maybe try and do a quick set piece where someone stands near you throw the ball off their back and you put a ball into the mixer.
15:31So the defenders are out of place. You put the ball over on top and we score. I'm no coach. But even something like that would kind of mix things up a bit. If it's just a case of, I don't know, just get everyone in the box, just lump it in the mixer and just see what happens. It's crazy. And then the stat that I think Flav said in the last pod about no goal to open play. That seems a bit of a weird one. I swear Richarlison's goal against Liverpool wasn't directly from a set piece. I don't know how many touches is the limitation on it. but these things are I feel like you've been waiting a week to make that point well a few days yeah I've been thinking I thought of a Charleston go come on what was that one that sort of was an open play but you know I think a lot of these things are just feel like it's by design and maybe Frank is making Bentancourt play a brand of football that makes him not want to look over the top and dink a ball over maybe there is that he's carrying the ball and I'm going do you not fucking turn you dare turn back do not turn back you turn oh he's turned back oh my god he's Passed it to Romero.
16:29Oh God, Vicarri's got it again. Every time, like that was the worst. I generally, when it goes back to Vicarri, I don't feel much at all. Yesterday, I was despairing every single time. Like, what is he going to try and pass it out? Then the forward move will break down or it'll go back to him and he'll just boot it long and they'll win it. And when it happens over and over again, you cannot be anything other than frustrated. I was, I was, I said I felt nothing, but I was, I was pretty angry of Vicaria's distribution yesterday. You know managers will do like a video nasty after a game and watch, play the game back and say, look, this is what you're doing wrong.
17:09But do you think a player has ever said, you know what, to the video guy, make me a tape of all the times I pass the ball back and I want to put it in front of the manager and say, look, this is what you're making me do. Yeah. Please release it from these fucking shackles. In the history of football, I must have happened at least once. He said, look, this is a video of what you're making me do. This is a video of what I can do. the World Cup season of Benton Corp was an absolute god this is what I can do this is what you're making me do try and make the two meet because I don't know I mean I think all three of us would agree that that version of Benton Corp is dead but surely he's better than what he's doing now yeah yeah of course he is but you know he has to he's going to take the brunt of the frustration because of either what he's been asked to do or he's I don't know maybe there aren't no options proper options available to him maybe we're too easy to defend I don't know what the reason is, but it's stunted.
17:59What did you... Great goal by Paulina. I thought his performance overall was absolutely fine. There was a couple, like two or three people on the pitch that kind of, I guess they can to some degree hold their heads relatively high. Paulina was one of them. Great goal, great tackling. And I think we've said it before, but some of the criticism is a little bit harsh and unfounded. I thought Romero was decent but what did you make of and actually lastly in terms of like praising people I thought Richarlison genuinely changed the game when he came on I thought he was one of our better players definitely should have scored that head out but was really effective when he come on yeah and also shout out to Tell his goal lovely work down I mean the move for that goal was great great passage of play and Tell cutting in on his right foot he scored quite a few those types of goals for under 21's French team and I thought he did I thought he did well and I thought Bergvot he there was a lot of effort from him and he was kind of everywhere and I just felt like he had like three shots maybe outside the area That curling shot in the first half was absolutely beautiful.
19:25That was so close to being a worldy. Loving technique. Yeah, like you were saying, Flav, by design, we've not been taking shots outside the box and it's kind of like it's a low percentage chance that that's ever going to go in, work the ball into the box, cutbacks, whatever. Do you think players are taking it upon themselves to be like, things aren't working? or there's an opening here. I'm just going to fucking take it upon myself and have a crack because I think Xavi had one yesterday as well and there was another player. Do you think it's like Frank's kind of like, oh, the penny's dropped. Let's try some long shots.
20:04All players are just like, do you know what? This ain't working. This is game time. I'm just going to have a fucking pop and see what happens. Yeah, I think it is frustration. It comes to a point where they just think, fuck it, I'm going to hit it. I think against Arsenal and Simmons, do you remember, he flashed a couple of shots wide. Yeah. It gets to a point where you're thinking, well, the system ain't working. It's almost like when Ange took Romero and Van der Ven to go to Ange and say, we need to play this way to win. And Ange said, if you can get the players on board, then we'll do that.
20:35It's like at some point the players do have to take responsibility. But then what is the consequence if you go against your manager's wishes consistently? He's going to drop you, right? Because ultimately you have to follow his plan. But yeah, I do. but also I don't understand a world where a player isn't encouraged to express himself in that way like that shot was beautiful from Beurge unbelievable technique and curling action and to kind of in any way take that away from a player is just mental to me and it is a directive because I'm not saying that Thomas Frank is sitting down Lucas and going, do not shoot.
21:18But there's messaging that was consistent when he was at Brentford because I spoke to the Brentford fans for the lab. They never scored goals from outside. They never even took shots from outside. They would just get it wide and cross it in and just spam the box with crosses. But interesting, consistently, they would get into positions where they would be able to do that. Whereas we get into attacking positions almost by mistake sometimes, a bit of luck. And suddenly we're forward. We've managed to win the ball back. We're forward rather than creating a pattern that means that you end up in a shooting position.
21:57But what did you make of Romero's statement after the game? Should I read it just in case? I mean, most people have seen it, but it says, apologies to all fans of you who follow us everywhere, who are always there and will continue to be. we are responsible there's no doubt about that i am the first but we will keep facing up to it and trying to turn the situation around for ourselves and for the club at times like this it should be other people coming out to speak but they don't as has happened for several years now they only show up when things are going well to tell the few lies we will stay here working sticking together and giving all of giving our all to turn things around especially at times like this keeping quiet working harder and moving forward all together is a part of football.
22:42All together, it'll be easy, I suppose. What the fuck did that middle bit mean? God knows, he took it out as well about all the lies. Yeah, telling lies. Yeah, but that's just not true. It means it's more true, right? He thinks it's... I've always had a hype in the love of Amaro and I still love him as a player, but I'm starting to think that he's probably got to take the captaincy off him because I think that... I think the social media post sums it up. But as I said earlier on, he served a suspension for the Liverpool sending off. I think he played against Brentford and he could have got a sent off then, you know.
23:21And this is our captain missing. I mean, I remember when Bissouma in Andrew's first season and he was like missing games through suspension. And he wasn't even our captain, but you've got to have a responsibility to be available, especially someone like Romero, who's got the experience of winning the Argentina and has been our captain for a while. he's got to kind of think well obviously you've got to be defiant and show that you're still fighting but i don't know i don't know if i don't know if he passed his phone around a coach i said you know what should i send this yeah go on go on i'd be like chris mate let's just let's sit down and go through this you can't you can't say that because you just can't and the fact that players are supportive makes me think that they probably ghost wrote it but nobody wrote it for them i i i i prefer the romero used to play porn out loud on on the coach remember there's that rumor that conte because he was playing porn out loud
24:17um i what can we speculate though what what it mean do you think he meant by the people that turn up when it's playing well and tell lies what what did you where did your mind go rick
24:30um to be honest I wasn't particularly sure my my immediate reaction was he's talking to the owners and then my assumption was the telling lies part was that they have said that they're going to invest they've got lots of money they're going to do this they're going to do that do you remember under Ange where we had so many injuries and it got to January and we were desperate for a goalkeeper and that was the first thing we're going to do. And I think we signed Kinski late or did we sign him early and then the others came late or something like that. We signed Kinski early. And it just reminded me of that really, of the kind of what the club had promised Ange and probably didn't deliver and what they've maybe promised to Frank and to say to Romero, if you sign this contract, this is what our plans are.
25:22This is who we're going to sign. this is the way we want to play this is what we're going to do he signed the ting and now look at us and he's like fuck this man like how can i get out of it like with us yeah where you can go what is it four years was it fucking idiot um i get that that makes sense to some degree rick but like it's quite easy to pick holes in it isn't it because who's been there for years to be telling lies who's still there? Naturally, you would immediately, if Daniel Levy was there, he's like talking about Levy. He's obviously talking about Levy. He's not there. So he's not talking about Levy.
26:04Who is he talking about? Is it Venkatesha? Well, he's only been there six months. That's not him. Is it the Lewis family? But they've never been around. They probably never even met the players, like the family, But before, you know, maybe they met Romero when convincing him to sign and they told him stuff there. But it was the for years bit, which doesn't make any sense. Is it players? It's not players. Like the bit about, you know, only when it's going good that you'll see them and hear from them and stuff. I can't remember where I saw it. Maybe I saw it on Twitter or something like that. And someone said, oh, I think he's talking about James Madison because he didn't play in the final.
26:44and then when we won it, you saw him with the trophy. I was like, fucking hell. I was like, that's a bit tasty, that one. That's a reach. Yeah. Fucking hell. I love fan fiction. It's the best genre going. He's attacking James, James Madison. Got like one leg.
27:05I, I think the, probably the reality is he hasn't articulated himself correctly. Second language. He's probably written himself and he's made a bit of a mess of it. I think that's probably the... Yeah. Generally the most boring way of thinking about it is generally the truth. But he meant something. It's just there's no way of knowing because... I don't know. Someone's told him to take... The press officer probably told him to take it out. His players keep scrapping at the fans though. So I don't know what he's got. Yeah, but you should figure that. 28:52I mean, from what Polina said, it's like they're just having a conversation. Obviously, it looked a bit... I've not seen the video footage of it. I've only seen stills. I don't know if it was... I've never found out 100%. Yeah. And I'll rate him for that. You might be disappointed, but imagine what he was being called or he heard. Yeah. You're like, all right, you're going to call me a cunt, are you? All right, it's on. Do it on Eric Dier. Come on then. Like, yeah. You know you're talking about building a statue of Ho Min Son. Build a statue of Eric Dier climbing the seats. Yes. Yes. Yeah. What you've got to understand is that we're all Spurs fans, right?
29:30And the players are all players and stuff. But if you're a cock, you should face consequences. this i'm assuming that something was said to van der ven that he didn't like and then it's not about football anymore it's about we're two men come and then let's have it like imagine being that fan because you're angry you just you don't know what you're saying you're angry i've said things about players i probably would get me punched if i said if they were there so i'm angry i've just paid all this money i've got down to god forsake an horrible little place called bournemouth shit old little stadium getting mugged off by the fans the menu fairy tale story i'm furious it's midweek i'm fucking freezing storm gilberta or whatever's coming tomorrow i don't want to be here so i'm saying things i don't really mean yeah it don't matter i always remember i always remember uh i can't remember who topner were playing but uh bellamy was playing i think it was against man city and um he was really close to where my dad and i were and as he's walking off to take the coin or whatever.
30:33My dad called Bellamy a hunchback cunt. He heard it, turned around and gave my dad the fucking thousand yard stare. And I just looked at my dad and was like, you've gone too far now. That was harsh. That was harsh. There is this hunchback cunt. Yeah, you hunchback cunt. But if he would have walked over and clumped my 73-year-old dad, I would have said, you deserve that, dad. He 100 % deserved it. That was personal. But everyone's out of line. What was the story with me, Rick? story of being Maniac Football Punch's fan no fan deserves being punched by a hero footballer that's what I missed about the old stadium because you were a lot closer back then I remember Rhys James was taking a few corners and Chelsea played us the other day and they're just slagging off his sister the entire time it's like bloody that's a bit much man I was just thinking in the olden days of the fighting cock we would have gone in then what were they saying we'd had our own without our own insults but can't do that anymore the world's changed for the better the better glad we can't do it T I just want to go back to you were saying about Romero and his captaincy for obviously posting that thing on Instagram and you were like saying about him not maybe the captaincy should be taken off him I meant to pull you off on that that's a bit harsh I thought well I mean it's maybe like okay let's just say it's not harsh but who Who would we give it to?
32:01Because like Van Der Ven yesterday, before kickoff, he was doing the team talk and I was like, fucking go on, son. Fucking tell him what for. Although Romero, you should be doing this. Let him have a go, right? Okay, fine. Fair enough. But then final whistle, as a captain, Van Der Ven, walking over to our away fans and saying, pointing at the floor, you fucking come here. We'll have a tear up right now. I was like, that's not captain material either. It is. It is. put your fans up bring your fucking dinner as well you cunt come on imagine being the fan that he's talking to how your balls would just go up into your chest what am I going to do I'm not going to get on the field and fight Van Leven you're 6 foot 4 and an athlete come on you'd get bashed up badly so just to answer the Romero captaincy thing I think Van Leven's probably about the only other person who can have it and then Vicario is, well, after his comments last, because Arkmar, and he slugged off, hands off, maybe not him.
33:03Then obviously the... He's like the last person you want to see. Yeah. He's a knob. He is. I genuinely think he is. He is. If you met him, you'd be like, I'm not that bloke.
33:17Gilmero ain't coming to the pub, is he? Fuck me. It's all right if you get to know him. We're not sport for choices for Captain Drew. It'd only be Romero or Van Der Ven really but I just I mean I think some of the yellows that Romero gets is because of his reputation more so than what he actually does a lot of the yellow I mean even I think the Liverpool game I think the first yellow was harsh from memory so he probably shouldn't have got sent off but I feel that sometimes he doesn't really help himself from that perspective and every time I come on the pod I think this is the lows we're going to get we're not going to get any lower then he sends that fucking social media post that Van Der Ven offers the fans What's going to happen when I'm next on the pod?
33:57What are they going to do for an encore? I don't know. I hope we go. In a way, I can't wait. That's what I'm going to get. Saying about Romero and his reputation. Do you see in the second half when he was striding forward, he had the ball and then the free kick gets given against him because he knocked into the Bournemouth player. I was like, fucking hell, mate. Just because he's hard. Don't fucking have a go at him. Wasn't a free kick. Was it a penalty? Van de Ven's done another one of his trademark runs. Was it a penalty? It would have been soft. I'd have taken it, but it would have been very soft.
Read the full transcript
34:31Yeah. I think that what they were overlooking, sorry, what they were analysing to see whether it was a penalty was when Van de Ven had tumbled into the second player and then caught him. On calendar, isn't it? But it was the first challenge that set him off balance. Yeah. As he's running at that pace, caught him off balance and then he fell into the second player. That would have been, if you're judging it on that penalty, no. But then it was the initial tackle that was inside the box. They would have looked at that as well. They didn't think that it was a penalty in any shape or form, did they?
35:07No, but I still think kind of... When I saw it in real time, I was like, he's dived. That's why I fought. My dad said penalty, stonewall penalty. I said, I don't think he is, dad. I think he looked like a dive. And then when I watched it, he wasn't dived. He was pushed off. but like T said I agree with T I think it would have been soft I didn't have any problem but then it got our back up and we had some sort of reason to play and then we scored the goal what a fucking goal by the way got a lot of time right you know it's time for the Frank in or out poll actually before we do that let me tell you once again that the fine cock is backed by NordVPN you can get a 30 day back money guarantee if you don't like it or have any issue with it but if you sign up for two years you get four months free so it's basically saying if you get nothing from nordvpn you can get all your money back it's not a problem but that's never going to happen i can't imagine one person who's done a refund on this because it's so useful you can do many things can't you wick what can you do i mean mainly like it's just me being a filthy pig Have you got parental locks at your home?
36:20No, I don't. What? But you can't access porn UK anyway, so... Yeah, exactly. Ricky, that is bad safeguarding. No, no, no. Of course they can access it. Let them see. Oh. Let them see. Sorry, yeah. They need to grow up. Yeah, okay. Let them see. All right. Yeah. Well, I'm sure they have. You ain't got no parental locks? No. Have you? they'll be fine don't really need to at this stage but no I think you do you know I don't really want to normalise spitting for my child in sexual relations so maybe I might have to have a rethink lots of spitting pornos and I don't like it stop spitting you don't want to see it I haven't I haven't seen any in recent years I mean back in the day it was a bit spit flying around but it still happens clean the act up a little bit oh really it still happens no other than that getting around child you know child lots to protect your kids you can do other things like change your location to get cheaper hotels watch 3 p.m football on peacock for example or when the ashes were on you can watch it was free to air for some reason they don't pay charge their their their nation to uh watch the ashes on some free to air tv you just simply instead of playing for bt bt or tnt you switch your location to some godforsaken place in australia no disrespect but you've just beaten us for 4-1 in the ashes so fuck the lot of you um just a nation full of convicts um fuckhead and fuck the lot of you uh yeah so you just select one of their servers and you can you can watch the ashes or you would have been able to watch the ashes for three you can actually do it next time if you want to because uh we're playing they're playing the ashes in two years well it's next year effectively now one day series don't play or is that all over it doesn't really count t well they can watch like Like, it's like Spurs are playing in the league and you might say, isn't there like a charity shield?
38:22You're like, who gives a shit about the one day? No one cares. Unless you're a child or a person of limited intelligence. The main point is that there's more cricket to be watched. Yeah, sorry. More crickets will watch and you can use more VPN to watch it in Australia. Sorry, T. I'm still angry. I'm still bitter. You motherfuckers. A lot of you are fucking hurt. I hate your guts. Why is every fucking sport I follow misery for me? So NordVPN.com forward slash fighting cock. The link is in the description below. Yes. So where do you think we were at? Last week, we were at about 17 % approval rating for Thomas Frank.
39:01And there has been, obviously, we've lost again. So there's always a shift. What percentage of Tottenham Hotspur fans are Frank in Ricky? 14. And to you, T? 15.
39:208.48%. Oh, my God. Oh, good Lord. I wonder what they've got to say. I cannot spike. I cannot spike. I've never seen the like. I've never seen the like of it. I've never seen anything this bad. You know, when we record the pod, I'll have a look at Reddit. Normally, there's like, I don't know, 10 comments. But then after the last one, there's like 40-odd comments. They're like, what the fuck have I said? So I go on there and they said, there's someone going in to bat for Thomas Frank. I'm like, respect. So in the Reddit comments, is someone batting for Thomas Frank? Yeah, they're saying we were, well, not now, but they're saying we were something like four or five points off fifth.
39:58You know, things can change quickly. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everybody's four or five points off fifth, though, aren't they? Yeah, but I admire that. I admire the fact that, you know, 92 % of people want the guy gunning. They're still willing to fight against him. respect i love it yeah stand for it man even if it's um diametrically opposed to what i believe say that shit but but um well are you sure that's quite a strong position what that to want him still in no to like it doesn't matter if you're diametrically opposed to what i believe in say your shit in the terms of thomas frank yeah obviously there's other stuff that i believe in a lot stronger than I wouldn't accept.
40:43Like what? Racism? Yeah. I'm glad you used that to it, I'm not me, yeah. Yeah, I agree. When it comes to Spurs, say your shit. Nothing to do with racism or homophobia, though. But I'd be interested to know that 80 % want him here next season. It'd be interesting if the poll could say, do you want Frankie Romance? Because a lot of them are just saying, well keep him here to the summer we'll re-evaluate then i wonder if anyone thinks he can actually be here beyond um i know statistically 80 percent of uh put the population have brain injury well there's that yeah maybe it's that i i so weirdly um i'm not frank in obviously but i'm also in this weird position i'm like i don't what so what do we do like yeah same i'm sort of shrugging my shoulders i don't want to watch this football for the next five months i get that none of us do but i'm like it feels like the season the season's over like what what we've got to play for we're not we could win the champions league i suppose but the reality is it's nothing there's nothing left really you just want to feel something again oh just on that actually if it is about sacking if it is about sacking and um uh frank we've got a little survey on who should come in next in the short term.
42:09Yeah. Right. And the options here are Robbie Keane, who's done very well with Farence Saros. Is that how you pronounce the name in Hungary? Ryan Mason has just been sacked by West Brom. Bring Ange back, who reportedly or apparently has said, I'll come back. Or Harry Redknapp. Who do you think? Jesus Christ. It's the most popular. Harry Redknapp. Yeah, I'd say Redknapp is the most popular. All right, yeah, it was 65%. What, what, how do you think that would go if we brought back Harry? I think we'd have the new manager bounce. I think we'd do all right. But he's not managing about in over 10 years.
42:50So God knows what he'd be like now. But I think he'd do, I think we'd, I think he'd stabilize us. It's crazy that I'm even saying this. We got to the situation. Yeah, I can't even call him that. When the podcast first started, he was our manager. It's mad to think that. When the podcast first started, he was our manager. And so I've made that infamous quote on the opening podcast. Well, let's not. Let's not.
43:14I've still got plans to interview him. So can we just leave that there? Something about Wellington Boot, I think.
43:26I'll tell you what. I just asked a question in an exacerbated tone how do we get to this point where we're considering Harry Redknapp who hasn't managed in 10 years that famous Champions League side we had with Bale, Modric Van der Vaugh it was a good 15 years ago right
43:52if you want to know how we got to this situation or how we're at this situation Listen to the latest episode of the lab I've done with Anatole Pang. And it really goes into the structural issues at Tottenham and how they can be fixed. But you start to understand and explain why Brentford can lose Thomas Frank, Mbumo, Evissa and get better. And Spurs can't cope with losing talent and shift and the continual perpetual failing at the club until we structurally reorganize. The world moves fast. Your workday, even faster. 50:31And for him to turn things around, it's going to have to be fucking very quickly. And I don't see how he's going to do that. So I kind of feel like the writing is on the wall, whether you're franking or frank nothing. So, but then I don't know what the next step is. Like you saying, Robbie Keane, he's doing great at his club. and are they still in the Champions League or is it Europa League? Europa League. I'm not sure. But they love him. Why is he going to walk away from, and I think they're maybe top of the league. Not into him. You have to give him the job if he wants to walk away, right? Yeah, exactly.
51:10And is that what we're willing to do? Because I'm like, I kind of feel like better the devil you know. And I feel as if Frank isn't going to take us down. I kind of feel like he will, you know, we'll finish 10th, 12th, whatever. Come the summer, there'll be lots of managers available after the World Cup and lots of kind of musical chairs of managers and stuff. And it will give us a lot better options. But getting someone in now, like Xavi, Robbie Keane, Carrick as interim, I just feel like I don't know them well enough to be like, okay, have a run at it because it could get even worse. You don't want an interim manager that you want to employ, do you?
52:06That's the problem. You don't want Carrick because he might do all right. He might win 45 % of his games and they might go, where if we back him, you know, it might be 55 % and that would make him a really good manager. Because if the opportunity of potentially Pochettino or if the Lewis family are serious and throw enough money at it, someone like, I don't even know why I'm going to say this, it's never going to happen, but Lewis Enrique, right? Yeah. You don't want to hamper that prospect for a short-term gain. You know what's going to happen with Solskjaer? Man United could get Luis Enrique in the summer, but you know Solskjaer is probably going to turn it around a little bit.
52:56And you know Ratcliffe will just take the easy option and give him the job. So they don't kind of want that either. So you might as well just kind of keep Frank or, I don't know, give it Harry. End of season. I don't think we can afford to wait until after the World Cup with regards to Pochettino. So I'd imagine there has to be some sort of pre-arranged deal that once the World Cup's over, he comes in and maybe his coaching staff can do the training at the start of the season while the pot acclimatises. But one thing we've not spoken about in this pod is the Arsenal Cup that Franca was drinking from.
53:33That was weird. And the thing was, the seats in the background looked like the Emirates stayed and the seats looked a bit like a faded red. There's every possibility it's from that game, but the Getty signage or whatever it is said it was from yesterday. Just bizarre. And he spoke about it in the press conference. He's just like, I don't know. No, it was pictured yesterday. Yeah, that's what it said in the image, yeah. It happened 100 % yesterday, yeah. Because Arsenal played there four days before, five days before. So if someone's just left the cup there, someone's made him a cup of tea and just handed it to him and he hasn't looked yet.
54:10Yeah. um uh i genuinely it's terrible frank right now yeah because of everything that's happened it's like the last thing he needed but it ain't that deep he's just exactly yes he's just not looked at the cup that's all that's happened um but it literally is like given everything he's going is that the last thing in the world he's if I don't know oh for fuck's sake kind of thing yeah I didn't look at him as angry I just thought mate but one of the things I did kind of like maybe I'm just being a precious but in the post-match interview when someone questioned Frank about it he said something along the lines of oh is this the road that we're going down now like because I've got another team's emblem on the cup and this is what we're talking about.
55:10If it was a Brighton logo, don't give a shit. If it was fucking Sunderland logo, don't care. But it was the Gooners logo. You've got to have like after how we performed at the Emirates and everyone is still scarred by that to then having that Gooner Cup and not recognizing in the significance of the rivalry and how bad that actually looks. Are you quite angry about it, Eric? I'm not really angry, but I'm just angry the fact that I feel like he doesn't get it. And what I can't understand is that, you know, he's a football man. You know, in Denmark, there's rivalries. Fucking all over the world, there are intense rivalries.
55:53Some more greater than Tottenham Arsenal. but yet how does he not figure out that this is the one game and the one team that you have to do everything to avoid holding cups of or fucking trying to win and not play cowardly at the emirates do you know what i mean it's like that's what i don't understand is how how are you not getting a grasp of it and being so kind of um you know pragmatic about it or just you know i was matter of fact it's just two football clubs you know it's just it's been blase about it yes Yes fucking hell man. I mean that's what annoys me. It's like you're not, you're just not getting it.
56:31I don't think I've ever been handed a mug of tea and not glanced at the mug. Like I want to know what I'm drinking out of. It could be a cock on there. Yeah. Like I can't believe, but then shouldn't his focus be elsewhere than the vessel that he's drinking from? Yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking because I had an interview yesterday and they handed me a cup. I didn't even look what was on the cup. I just thought, thanks. And he's probably thinking of, I don't want other things than what he's thinking from. And he's very much, in his interviews, he just seems very unbothered, if there's such a word as that.
57:07And I don't think that helps when we're in a bad run. You know, we've lost all these games. Well, we've not won many games, which is probably a more accurate way of looking at it. And you've drunk from that cup and you've got the fans fighting their players. It's just like, I don't know. I mean, it's difficult for managers to really grasp it, especially, um, especially, you know, Brentford don't really have any rivals and, um, the performance at the Emirates and drinking from that cup as Ricky said is just bad optics. Oh no. I feel like, God, no way. Why? Like, like with Frank, it's like, because he is a, like a pragmatist and like he, he He views things as in the long term, right?
57:51And that's absolutely fine to have that long term thinking and this is where you want to be. But when you're living in it at that moment and how results are going, how we're playing, how we're not creating anything and scoring from open play and all of that stuff. But I get it, right? In two years down the road where he's got the players he wants in and we're playing the football he wants to play and I don't know, we're winning games and all of that stuff. we'll look back at this period and it'll be, you know, we won't even remember it if we're where he wants us to be, but he's just not recognizing.
58:29It feels like he's not recognizing where we are at the moment. Do you remember when we used to, when we went fucking mad on crypto and you look at the ups and downs and one day you're fucking really far down and then it goes up a little bit and then it's down again, then up. but then in a year's time you look back at that period where we're all like tripping out thinking oh is this the end of crypto it's just a fucking dot on that scale do you know i mean you don't even remember but when but when you were here i do but when you were in there and you were living it and you were feeling it every day it's a big issue and it's just that not recognizing and feeling it that it's kind of matter of fact it's like well i know it's shit now but in 12 months time it's going to be all right you're not going to be here in 12 months time you know like if you don't start recognizing how the fans are feeling and and i get he's like saying yeah the fans are hurting we're hurting and stuff but i just i don't know man i just don't feel it if that makes sense do you remember crypto i don't want to remember like i don't want to remember this time of football yeah you kept buying it as it kept going up didn't you No, I didn't.
59:45What did you do? You panicked. You didn't want to miss out or something. No, someone told us that Crypto.com, the exchange was crashing or something like that. So everyone, get your money out quick. Get your money out. It didn't crash. It's still there. Brilliant. You had to leave the group. No, you mute the group or something. When it started booming, everyone's buzzing again. This group would be dormant. And then suddenly money would start going out and you'd go, for fuck's sake, is it going up again? Come back down again, Rick. Always up and down, up and down. A couple of questions and we'll get out of here.
1:00:28What the fuck are they? Sorry. Right. Yes, so Portnoy says, what the fucking fuck?
