And while we can't stop your coworkers from bringing their hobbies into the office, LinkedIn can help you bring your career to the next level. LinkedIn is the network that works for you. They say you should learn something new every day. Like how you should only drink Jägermeister at zero degrees Fahrenheit. Ice cold. Like those frozen cavemen they find. Which makes you wonder, what would a caveman think of Jägermeister? Well, if you served it warm, he'd probably throw it in your face, say, Oonga Boonga, and storm off.

1:15And nobody wants that. So drink it cold or not at all. Jägermeister. Damn, that's cold. Drink responsibly. Jägermeister liqueur. 35 % alcohol by volume. imported by Masked Jägermeister, U.S., White Plains, New York. It's a fightin'. It's a fightin'. Cock! It's a fightin'. It's a fightin'. Cock! A camel, shut up! I don't know what it is that makes me feel like this. I don't know who you are,

1:57I have no idea why I started singing that or why I know the lyrics. Do we have any superstars in this team? We've got Ben Bowman and we've got Nick. Yeah, Javi Simmons. Do you think he's a superstar? Yeah. What, potential or what he is? Mainly potential. But I think the way he plays but also his character and everything around him. Yeah. I think he's a superstar. It's not about how necessarily effective you are. It's about how you carry yourself. How do you move around the pitch? How do you do outside of the foot passes into Dom Solanke? That's a key chance.

2:39The Fighting Cock:Yeah. He's got that just fucking giving people shit, pure arrogance, like naughtiness about him as well, which we've been missing since. I don't know like Lamella like players like that they didn't quite carry it off but I think he's the superstar potential I think it's it's already Inja I can already we can already smell it can't we like you know like it gives it like I fucking love that I love that I love his terrible things what terrible things 22 year old man how old is he he's 22 22 yeah he's just a just a baby but he was also like destined for it though really wasn't he like come through la massia and he was one of the first like viral instagram famous like footballers wasn't he when he was like 13 so he's always kind of been on this path towards it i think he he'll get there i think he's just i was i was kind of alluding to this on the podcast we did on monday about when i'm talking about it i mean it's that he's with his type of upbringing not upbringing as a child but you know his development as a young footballer to playing at Barcelona and then going out and demanding moves to PSV which really launched him and as well having that sort of look that he had you know the sort of bouncy hair dual heritage you know he's silky with it from his from the first moment that he set foot on the football pitch you could and you have seen players like this just fall and disintegrate their careers just disintegrate and i think that you could be hypercritical about him based on that and think actually he's not he's not nowhere good enough based on the kind of what was built up around him in the um in the the formative years of his footballing career but his mental aptitude is sensational i'd like it's the willingness to win the ball back, to be physical, to demand that move to PSV when he wasn't playing, to go to the Dutch League, then to go to Leipzig and stuff.

4:50He just, despite all of the hype, just wants to play. If he was really concerned about his image and that's what it was all about, he would have stayed at Barcelona to the last possible minute in the hope that he gets game time there, but he didn't do that. And so, all right, I'm with you. Superstar potential. Do you know who's definitely better than? What, Eze, by any chance? That little prick down the road, yeah, Eze. A little bit. We definitely got, did you watch Arsenal game the other night? Yeah. Yeah. He did nothing. He does like, every time I watch him, he's doing nothing for them. I don't know where he's...

5:30I have seen a few TikToks where, I think you did one as well, about Simmons over Eze. And, you know, look, before they signed and we know what happened beforehand i would i would have definitely said as a is probably the sure thing yeah simmons is perhaps more exciting although there's a mercurial element to his play because he's or his potential because he's never played in the premier league but yeah

5:54The Fighting Cock:i think you're fucking right to your point though is that is is that what's happened to ese has he fallen like that's what it feels like has happened that he's had everything around him but then he's got the move you know and he and he's come of age and he's been put on this platform and he's just disintegrated and i just can't i just can't like there's something in javi which is not in essay and it's hard to find what that is like it's like there's no vulnerability in him like it like he's fucking indestructible he's this little renegade master i just don't i can't even i ain't got the words for it i don't know what it is but for es a looks vulnerable now he looks like he could keep falling and hopefully you know ben will be part of that demise just digging him out on tick to big time fucking big time javi's like a little he reminds me a little bit of like not in not necessarily the same way but like you know how like bruno fernandez is just like a bit of a rat like he's just everywhere no i really like bruno fernandez i think he just gets a bit overhated like but he's just like everywhere annoying like i think simmons is a bit like that whereas like in the best way i don't mean that in a bad way i think that he must be very annoying to play against i think whereas like eza i just think like you seem like not i don't know whether it's because they just play shit football as well which doesn't really help him and i would have i wanted it i definitely wanted a in the summer and then when we didn't get him javi simmons was i think for me always the next best thing and I was really excited when we got him and I remember Javi came on against Brighton in like the first few weeks he was here at halftime when we were losing 2-0 and he turned that game around for us like and Ben Money don't he just like landed in the Premier League and I was like you know what I don't think Eze would actually do that I think Eze is a quality player but I think it's just if you put him in a situation where it's like right this is on you to go and turn the game on its head and I know for Palace he was instrumental in their FA Cup run obviously but like a lot of Palace fans have always actually said that about Eze where it was always a lease say that was the one that you could count on when you really needed him but Eze would sometimes go missing quite a lot and it's like I don't think you'd get a performance Eze might have delivered more if he was at Spurs in his first six months or whatever he might have delivered more maybe goal contributions or or something but ultimately he's 28 he has kind of got a bit of a ceiling which I don't think he's going to get like I don't think it's that much higher than where he is right now and if where you look at where spurs are at in terms of the mess that we're in is he going to stand up and be counted for you in the same way that what we're seeing for from javi simmons and to be fair like sunday is the first proper time we've seen that in the big game from simmons but there's been signs that have been leading towards him being capable of a performance like that and i think anybody who says that there hasn't been just isn't watching Tottenham and isn't watching him, I think.

8:43Yeah. So I love him to bits. I think he's actually settled in very quickly. Probably not as quickly as Eriksen did. But, you know, football's different now. Spurs are different. And, you know, the challenges that we didn't know how good that side was that Eriksen sort of slipped into. The challenges that Simmons have now are far greater. But I just love him. And, you know, I knew that he was impressing. not that this is important, but it's just to give you some sort of, some understanding of his performance in that second half against Man City, is you've got him sitting next to Rory Jennings and Bovey, Man City fan, and Rory, I'm sure, and everybody knows, being critical of Simmons.

9:28And there was a moment where he won that ball back, and we got it back to 2-2, he tackled, I can't remember if it was on the right-hand side, Nunes maybe and drove into the box and got a good ball into Odebay and you know another day he might have poked it in but they were like who is like how we didn't know that he had that in his locker I think there's so much to this boy's game that we haven't yet seen and I keep saying it 18 months from now you're going to see a wonderful wonderful player I think he would dominate games regularly I think so yeah a couple of this is the Q &A podcast a couple things we have to talk about before getting into the questions.

10:01And I'm sure some of the questions will cover this. Firstly, we spoke at length, John and I spoke at length on the episode of The Lab, which has been published on the Fighting Cock stream yesterday when you hear this. So go and have a listen to that. But we do talk about Romero's post and the kind of the word disaster that he used. No, disgrace, my friend. Disgrace, yeah. Yeah, my bad. But disgrace, which if translated from Spanish, could also mean unfortunate, apparently. Disgracia. Anyway, obviously all the questions in Thomas Frank's press conference today, a lot of them were about Romero. And his response was, I can confirm that we have dealt with everything internally.

10:52Which would suggest that he actually meant disgrace and not making me understand. Uh-oh. Because Thomas Frank would have just gone, no, no, he didn't mean it. He explained it to us. He didn't mean it. It was, you know, lost in translation. He definitely, definitely meant disgrace. It's actually quite, I quite like. Oh, dear, we are. I mean, it was obvious that he did anyway because I think he probably would have got a nudge to say, okay, even if he meant that, maybe just change the word just so people are clear on what you mean. I guess just more for the optics of it than anything. But also, this is the third or fourth time in a year that he's done this.

11:34So it doesn't surprise you that he's not holding back. I mean, what do you reckon they're going to do? They're not going to... He also followed it up by saying Romero is available, didn't he? So they're not going to... Nothing. They're not going to suspend him or whatever. No. Like Sky Sports was saying the other day. Yeah, well, this is the last time with Van der Ven. and I had got into an argument with some geezer on Twitter. I can't remember his name. And he was saying, oh, there's, he did some ITK about like how Spurs were going to deal with the Van der Venne and Romero situation. I mean, it might have just been Van der Venne.

12:08I'm not sure. This was after Van der Venne offered to fight one of our fans or something to the long, Oh, the Bournemouth. I thought, when you said that, I didn't know if he was talking about the, when him and Spence like ignored, was it a Chelsea game? Like they, I'm afraid. It could be any one of the many, flashpoint too. We've had a lot. We've had this season, but no, I wasn't talking about that. Specifically the Bournemouth thing, and I think Romero, at the same time, also messaged, talked about lies, and I might be getting my timelines mixed up, but anyway, and this guy alluded to the fact that there would be bans, and I'm like, there is no world where, unless our player has done something truly egregious, something horrendous, that we ban our own, make our lives more difficult when we've got 11 fucking players now.

12:58Anyway, so yeah, there's no chance that he gets a ban. Let's ban our two top scorers. Yeah. While Kevin Danso's just stubbed his toe and he's probably out for six months as well.

13:08The Fighting Cock:I was going to say as well, our only other superstar other than Simmons is fucking Romero, isn't it? Do you know what I mean? Like you're not going to, you don't, what happened to Dyer when Dyer went into the crowd? Like did anything? He got a ban, from the FA I think didn't they yeah but Spurs were like crack on do you know what I mean yeah they're all dickheads fucking any of you lot want to go in there it's fine yeah pile in do you know what I mean like it's not going to be when we score a goal so it might as well to beat the fuck out of someone you know what I mean it's like so we'll see we'll see what we'll see what comes of that but I'm sure when Dier did that I thought like that was as dark as like we were going to go that was like what six years ago FA Cup getting knocked out to Norwich on penalties I thought it's not going to get worse than this shortly.

13:52And then here we are, five or six years later. I sometimes, and I don't mean this to be patronising, Ben, but I sometimes forget how young you are. Because if that's dark, you wait. I've had it pretty good. I've had it pretty good. Yeah, yeah, you have. We spoke in the week, didn't you? Was it a friend of yours you go football with, yeah? Yeah. Remembers the older days. and uh danzo stubbed his toe or as actually in reality he's actually uh snapped a tendon or something which is pretty bad i think i think that's a pretty horrendous injury but we went through this in the uh in in the 1990s the 1990 the year 1990 where it might be 91 where it was actually 91 sorry this is terrible podcasting because he eventually got his move to grand per se after having played a great deal of football for Spurs because he had this toe injury.

14:52Gary Lineker just, every game was like, is Lineker fit? Is Lineker fit? And you wouldn't know then until you read the program or you walked into the ground because obviously nothing else existed. But Gary Lineker's chronic toe injury was one of the most frustrating things I've ever had as a kid. Yeah. And I was abused. Fuck! I wasn't. I had a great childhood. Sorry. I've got to realise I'm 44. I'm not a fucking kid anymore. Yeah.

15:22The Fighting Cock:Let it all work out. The other thing was the Langer interview. Say interview. Puff piece. Let's say puff piece. And I was thinking when it came out, Nick, that I was thinking, this is great. I could definitely get a really juicy episode of the lab out of this interview. and uh i was wrong it was like any uh party political broadcast really wasn't it it was just a fucking word salad load of old nothings like false promises false storms but what what what is it because a lot of people if you read the comments underneath a lot of people are very angry about this and so you might understand how daniel levy positioned himself previously in the current sort of administration was like we're not going to speak after this because it's just going to go down like a lead balloon it went down like a lead balloon but it's also what we've been asking for as fans is why didn't we sign anyone and and the only real interesting part about it is is that we tried to but the players that we that we could get that would improve us just weren't it wasn't possible apart from conor gallagher but there's just a really interesting I don't know if it is interesting but there's like this kind of issue going on where you've got we want more transparency we want the club to be running a different way you've got like this idea that we're going to be more transparent so we're going to kind of speak to issues like this we're going to speak to kind of transfer windows we're going to try and say where we're going but can you imagine being like I know Lang has had loads of shit over it and i kind of think that he should but can you imagine how he felt but when he sat down in front of those cameras and he was like he like are we actually fucking doing like we're gonna do this are we i've got i've got fucking nothing boys do you know like we're rolling we're rolling go for it johan like well ben and i were often get invited on things we have to combine 11 between tottenham and arsenal before an arsenal game you're like are we doing this again what do you want me to say how ridiculous do you want me to sound at this current moment that actually don't happen anymore you get invited to do combined 11s of the current Arsenal team versus the Spurs team 10 years ago which is quite depressing I was in a night recently I was like for fuck's sake fuck you now come is it yeah you're right though you're right Nick you're right Roger I just don't know like who can win out of that it's not the club is it like it feels like there's an inflexibility to be able to pull that Like, why didn't they pull it?

17:59The Fighting Cock:Like, I'm looking at it going, like, I don't want to watch this. No one wants to watch it. We know inevitably what the fucking answer is. What's he going to say, like, to make it better? Like, he's signing his own fucking death warrant, isn't it? Like, it's, I don't think it's fair. Would you rather him not put anything out? Yeah, I think so, on that occasion. I think, bearing in mind, like, we're at a point now where we've just had an okay fucking 10 days, you know, since the turn of the year. like we haven't lost in four games i think that that speaks more to the direction that the club's going to which is fucking nowhere i'm not defending the club in in any sense or form but to come out with something which is nothing i think is a backward step and you know like i want what sorry sorry to cut you but what would you want want to because i think we all agree that we want the club to communicate with us more and we have seen that in the last six months yeah however what would you would have wanted from that interview what would you want it to have heard you you you need something to happen you need something to have happened in in the window to be able to produce something like that so just don't just don't do it you know i mean like it is just it's like i don't know listen to this nick and go and this if you fucking asked for this yeah ask for it yeah but they haven't delivered have they and if you haven't delivered then i I think the only other place you've got is to show it on the pitch.

19:22The Fighting Cock:And I do feel to a certain extent, whether it's the performances in Europe, whether it's the second half against City, I think to an extent they're doing that and they have an element of control. Xavi Simmonds, Christian Romero, not with his mouth but with his feet, they have an element of control on the pitch. They're the two players really who have got this by the scruff of their neck. Shout out to Udogi, shout out to Spence, um you know even to conor gallagher in that second half as well uh certainly to solanke use a breath of fresh air and boy do we need it because we stunk the fucking place out like for the last six weeks so the players have got to bring that but then you just as a manager right if it's been that shit i would turn around to langer as a ceo as a chairman as a communicator as vinite and go mate we're not going to do this i know it's scheduled but like i'm throwing you under fucking every bus on the high road here like not gonna do it like let's just let's just shut up shop and move on so i i want the transparency but i i think it's been detrimental you know and i watched ben's breakdown of it like and it was hilarious aggressive like you know all them things which is brilliant content um but at the end of the day it's just like what the fuck are you doing and that's the same as having no information what was your take pretty much everything nix just said really it's just it was just a like you said it was a puff piece really wasn't it we've been down this road before of just like big promises that have been made and what what would they genuinely do if we were sucked into a proper relegation battle or if we actually went down and you look back on that piece of content in like six months time and go they really thought it was a good idea to come out and say that yeah we sort of thought about signing some players but we didn't want to bloat the squad for the sake of it which again like in you can understand and like rationalize what he's saying in certain elements of it in theory right you don't just want to sign players for the sake of it but our injury crisis got progressively worse through them as the month went on we sold brennan johnson on the 1st of january mohammed could have got injured on the 2nd of january and we knew straight away that he was going to be out for a long time because all of the reports then start to come out of the back of that they wanted to sign another attacker they um frank obviously made the comments about semenyo last week and again it's kind of ties into all this stuff of what lang was saying yesterday is that i don't think they realize how much they're opening themselves up to criticism at the moment because it's not frankly it's to learn that we've been led down this garden path before of being told that yeah we tried for this player and like we really want to show ambition by signing this player but it's like you've just exposed the fact that you had an absolutely no plan b for what you briefed to the media probably at the start of last month was a priority position for spurs to look at in january so you put all your eggs in a basket that was one of the best market opportunities for any top Premier League side to go and sign in Semenya in January and had no plan B.

22:09And it's the same with even like Robertson. There was no other links other than Andy Robertson to a fullback. There was no other links there, no other real links to a midfielder. There was the Curtis Jones thing a little bit. But like, and I know January is, it is more of an opportunistic window, obviously. And again, I can sympathize with that to an extent, but if you're a football club the size of Tottenham-Oxford that are in the conversation of a relegation battle, I'm not saying I think we will go down. I was more fearful a couple of weeks ago than I am now, but that's because we've got a couple of important players back in, you know, when our performance against Menzi.

22:41Yeah, exactly. And West Ham lost the weekend and just naturally feel a bit like, okay, maybe we're going to be all right. But can they, as a club, the size of Spurs, can they really say that they've done everything they can to put the football club's best interests at heart and look after us and make sure that that doesn't happen? Because let's be honest, if we don't go down off the, after what could still be a fairly grim end to the season. I was really positive about that second half of Batman City, and I've kind of put the guns down a little bit on the whole Frank thing because it's clear that he's not going anywhere.

23:11But it will probably be more by luck than judgment because of the other teams being crap. And also, they have recruited stronger than us in the transfer window. I'm not saying that I would have taken necessarily the players that some of these teams have bought, but they've shown more of a desire to make sure they get out of the hole that they're in than us. And I feel like these guys just think that, oh, it's going to be fine. We'll just get through to the summer and go again. and that's where we're going to show a lot of ambition. But can you trust them, really? I don't know. I don't know. The thing is with Lang is that his track record of actual signings is quite good in terms of hit rate for Spurs.

23:43And I don't really have a problem with his talent identification, but it just reeks of incompetence and not having backup plans. And it's this strategy that I have a big concern with rather than the actual level of players that are being brought into the club, I think, with him. So, I mean, this picture just keeps making me laugh. Like whenever I see it, just him just sitting there. Like the ratio on Twitter was sensational yesterday where the tweet had been up for like about eight hours and I think it had like 900 likes and all the comments were just like, this is a load of shit, like just delete this.

24:16They were getting dogs abuse for it. And like you said, Nick, like they have as much as it's Lang's responsibility and I think generally with the influence directors of football have now in the Premier League, look at Chelsea look at Man United all those kind of things any manager that steps out of line and starts questioning them that's when their head gets cut right these guys need to take more accountability as much as the managers do because they're running the football club it seems in some cases like Chelsea and Man United as much as the actual managers are but I feel like in a way they probably have thrown him under the bus a little bit and could have just done without it like we've all said I'm down for more communication but I think you've got to read the room a little bit more Spurs that's the thing class this class again don't sit in courses you've already taken university of phoenix accepts eligible transfer credits and has a scholarship for transfer students finish your degree faster yeah fine fair enough i i agree with everything you've just said um this is the q a podcast so we're going to get into some of the questions uh this one concerned me a little bit despite the guy being quite kind i think uh crossbones 18 he says flab i'm sick and tired of how people treat you sometimes so i want to send some positivity your way how am i treated poorly you are a handsome man who has a wonderful voice cheers dress is very smart cheers mate i like that jacket i've uh i can't take it off i just love it it's so comfortable anyway um and has a smile that brightens any pub.

25:48What a legend. I'm sure, I sure wonder what your mum looks like. My mum's fucking 73, mate. What would you think she looks like? She's been on the eye for 73 years. She's a female who is 73 years old, crossbones, all right? Now, Ben's mum is different gravy. Yeah. Have you ever seen my mum? Yeah, Cheps. Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, no, yeah, because your message is about, yeah. We all have, actually, mate. We all are your mum. A little walk towards an hour.

26:18The Fighting Cock:With the greatest respect. I love my mum. I love your mum. Not like that, you know, for bringing you up. It's such a great human being you are, Ben. Justin Bisou, he says, since Tottenham are now banning journalists from asking critical or norcal questions of Thomas Frank, how many questions would it take for Flav to end up on the ban list if you ever got to interview Frank? Is that true? Yeah, so it is true, apparently. So I looked into this, I asked him, and there's been an article published in Denmark. And I've got it here, two sets. It is here. So essentially the takeaways from this article that was published was that the Danish outlet Viaplay, who are a big deal, I like Sky in Denmark, I think, in Scandinavia.

27:07Danish outlets reports Tottenham are blocking Thomas Frank interviews with Viaplay after recent critical questioning. Fireplay says Spurs refused manager access following questions about pressure and fan support. Channel insists it did nothing wrong and was surprised by Tottenham's decision. Tottenham declined to comment, stating Frank has no contractual obligation to give interviews, and instead players were offered, reportedly including Conor Gallagher, to meet broadcast requirements. I don't know how you feel about this, But what my takeaway from that is that there are questions that Thomas Frank has to answer to certain broadcasters.

27:48Sky, absolutely. But obviously the major British press is probably in his best interest to placate them because they can sway opinion in a massive way. I wonder how, if this is true, how they feel about the Danish media, knowing that they might have a vested interest in his development or his downfall, because that's specific to their audience, that perhaps Sky Sports wouldn't have. And so if this article is correct, and there's no reason to suggest it isn't correct, that the broadcaster can't ask Thomas Frank questions directly because he's not contractually obliged to do so. is that a problem at all but i know like what do you make of it does it look bad is it should we just look to stem the tide and flow of information coming out of the club or being when it's been

28:40The Fighting Cock:spoken about it it kind of links back into that last conversation that we were having about um you know about langer and those comments and the way that we are communicating i think more than anything and whether or not i don't know like the original question from like uh that you read out was like you know how long would it take you to get banned flav but i think actually you'd be you'd be a massive advantage compared to like the media outlets who are maybe trying to like prod the bear give people shit but like the the the langer stuff is like it's zooming out isn't it but it's a macro version of what frank's got to do that frank has got to go in afterwards and we've had lots of criticism around the words that he's chosen to use and his positivity around other clubs and like that's been some of the main kind of issues that have been aimed at him of maybe he hasn't handled those situations correctly but when we're just shit and it's been fucking awful i think it's really hard if you're contractually obliged you know that's kind of my point around the langer stuff don't make him do it because you ain't got to do it like why why fucking bother but with with him i think it's tricky so i don't know whether there's an agenda that we're missing as you rightly point out there Flav around like the Danish press or whether it's I just don't yeah I don't know is it a non-event is it a non-story like what's I don't know really like is it good or bad fuck knows I don't know I guess they can do these things in the Danish press and get away with it no one really really minds or gives a shit where is Denmark anyway who even are they fuck Denmark so we have there are a few Danish listeners that tune into the fighting cop.

30:21If you're at all insulted by what Ben just said, then there's various platforms you can unfollow him on. And I would say nothing negative about Denmark at all. No, it's basically just Mark, to be honest. Yeah. Stop shagging monks is what I would say. Yeah. I don't have an issue with any other Danes, really. I love Christian Eriksson. Mark Nesbitt. I like pastries. I fucking hate Mark. and what was that rubbish that he was coming out with on the pod a few weeks ago where he was talking about that word that they like live by uh not to um to so he was just talking about frank's in press conferences where he is to to not work in arrogance or to to always respect the attributes

31:10The Fighting Cock:of other people i don't know what it was it's like being it's essentially being humble like ramped up to 11, isn't it? It's like, you are no one. Like, you can't do anything. You're the shit on my shoe. That's right, yeah.

31:25Gary Spurs 18 says, with Vuscovic seemingly being the second coming of Christ, if Romero wants out, would you be happy to move him on? And how much would you accept? Interesting. Also, Vuscovic is apparently being courted by many, many of a footballer club who, I don't know, it was Rakitic who said the other day, Ivan Rakitic, who said, yeah, you're buying Munich should definitely be looking to buy him. And you're like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, Ivan. I know he's your fellow countryman and all that shit. We've got a contract which means we decide what he does. He's our, we own him. Yeah. All right.

32:00And if someone wants to come in, 200 million pounds, no less, would you accept 200 million pounds? Yeah, you would. For Vuskovic? Yeah, yeah, right now. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. There you go. Well, hang on, where is the line then, Ben?

32:15The Fighting Cock:200 million and no less cash. The point is saying no, no, no, no, you can't do this to Tottenham. However, every man has a price and woman has a price thing as a, you know. Yeah. He does look good though, doesn't he? He does look good. He does look good. What, um, what, uh, what are you saying then? What are you saying? 200 million is obvious. How much are you saying? Uh, let's try and be realistic about it. If they offered you 80 million, Bayern Munich offered you 80 million for Vyskovic, would you say that? Well, so if Romero is on his way out and you might get 80 for him and you get an 80 for Vyskovic, it'll be tough to generate£160 million for someone who's never kicked a ball for Spurs in a competitive match and a player who just seems to fucking hate her guts despite signing a new contract.

33:12160 million pound feels a lot it'd be tough to turn down however what it's always caveated is that how much work are they going to do to make sure we replace these players where will we find another Vyskovic I want to see him in a spot Kevin Dancer oh mate do you think Romero will go though I don't think he's been blown up no that journalist that was saying it also basically spent the last year say that he was going to go to atletico madrid so yeah he signed the new contract so yeah i just don't really buy it he has a track record with another player as well um yeah all right uh and he gary spurses as uh also have you ever been been dragged into any beef with need sorry also have you ever had any beef or been dragged into needless controversy with any other pods and YouTubers.

35:48There was a geezer called Harry Hotsbury used to fucking hate our guts way back in the day. Used to call us the clear as ill kids. Which I take all day now. I'm literally as old as he was when he said it. Other than that, not really. It would be pathetic, wouldn't it, Gary? It would be absolutely... Are you beefing with anyone, Ben? No, not at the moment. I had a few things last summer with some corners of Spurs YouTube who just were trying to dig me out for being too positive, funnily enough. And then I had some stuff with the Yoko Reyes overlap clip from some YouTube channels. When you said he looks like he plays in jeans, which you're 100 % correct now.

36:33There you go. That lives in my head,

36:35The Fighting Cock:rent free. That does every time I fucking see him. Absolutely, isn't it? It's so bad. Look at him wumbling along. He looks like, he looks like he's in fucking jeans in a downpour. You know what I mean? When your jeans, when your jeans are really wet and you're running for a train or something, you're like, you're all chafed up after about a minute. Just go, I can't get in the know you're sweating, even though it's freezing. All that, the edges are like over the back of your shoe. Just like in the puddle. how is it that you that someone can get so triggered by a joke clearly a joke obviously he doesn't he's a professional footballer he's capable of playing in the Premier League he's not that bad but it's a joke that you've made which was sensational what so you've got to go out now I'm going to find out where he lives I'm going to find out where his mum works and all that sort of stuff what?

37:29also of all people that were digging me out is Mark Goldbridge and it was like the bloke just made like a career of it it was like insane yeah that was a bit of a weird one yeah jealousies they would have made it

37:41The Fighting Cock:little green eyed monster thanks Ektar Eater he says what do you think of our chances of being promoted back to the Premier League next season don't do that it's not gonna happen we're only 11 points from 14 games not I shouldn't even be saying don't don't don't speak it into existence 11 points of 14 games if we don't get 11 points of 14 we deserve to go down yeah we'll do there's a bit of a bit of luck involved as well in there like you said the teams around us but we've definitely gone from that place you know when you're like when you're bleeding out in a computer game like that's what it's felt like for about a month but we're we're doing alright we're on the up I was chatting to at the City game I was chatting with Paul Hawksby and he spoke about on TalkSport the other day as well he was like he was like actually do you know what I kind of want to almost want to go down.

38:32He was just like, he would teach the club a lesson. It was being slightly facetious, but he was like, it would teach them a lesson and he was like, no VAR or all that kind of stuff. It was just like, actually, a bit of a laugh, wouldn't it? Like, it would be quite funny because like, I would speak to like my mates' dads and stuff like that when we go. They always say like following Spurs in the championship was, or the second division that year in the 70s was like the most fun they've ever had. But nowadays, it would be so different. My dad says the exact same thing. He said it was the best season ever.

38:59And, and, he experienced a double winning season mental isn't it can you imagine how bad it would be this time though because we would be everyone hates us so we'd be which I mean I wasn't alive but I didn't feel like that was the case necessarily in those days we'd be everybody's cup final wouldn't we like in the championship no despite romanticising this nothing good would come from us being relegated

39:26The Fighting Cock:no we are flying pretty close to the sun where we're fucking joking about this. Do you really? Do you know what I mean? Where we're like, maybe it wouldn't be that bad. And actually playing it out as a conversation, facetious or not, we are flirting with the unthinkable here. I don't even think we were saying this last year when we were like 17th. We weren't even making these jokes then because we know how shit the rest of them were. Yeah, that's fair. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. we all sort of weirdly and horribly pumped fist pumped the air when Chelsea got their third against West Ham which is a horrible position to get in and this is one we've made ourselves they've put us in a situation where we have to secretly quietly hope that Chelsea beat West Ham that's horrible absolutely horrible I was in a pub in Shepherd's Bush full of QPR fans as well so it was a little bit just like it was one of them it was like just a quiet one go on go on go on go on I'm a son.

40:25Free your trench teeth. Fucking Coyne. I can't believe. Oh, fucking HR. Fucking the bloody Chelsea. Get down now. I can't believe. The bloody Blues.

40:34The Fighting Cock:Oh, them bloody... Oh, God. You fucking... You fucking... I can't believe. Fucking little guys. Never said a bad word about Liam Rosina. Yeah, when the ball went in, I was like, yes! Right, and then the WhatsApp group, merely put, we needed that. Yeah. Yeah. oh christ what a spurs you've got to fucking sort it out so we have to do this anymore yeah um red steve 72 he says uh question to flav are you still happy we signed uh randall colo moani i'm so disappointed with it i was so i was i can't tell you boys will know i was so happy i've been banging on about him for a year not that i like it weren't like i've seen this kid who's mustered for us he'd already had his breakout season and signed for 95 million euros for PSG, I thought he'd be perfect for us.

41:26And he just, he just, it's just, doesn't look like he cares about us at all. He started, can he, I mean, he's playing because we've got no one, isn't he?

41:39The Fighting Cock:He was, he was a bit better, wasn't he? Wasn't he a bit better on Sunday? Yeah. He had the assist, didn't he? He had the assist for Xavi's disallowed goal, didn't he? That was him, wasn't it? when he poked it across and that was a different game oh Frankfurt oh sorry yeah yeah go on that's how bad it's got failure and disappointment he did something good about 145 minutes ago I swear Ben what did he do 145 minutes ago he scored he scored in that game as well didn't he he scored no issue in Europe it's just the Premier League where he's really struggling well no he's got no issue in Europe against teams that he used to play for yeah that's just I'm praying we get Juventus in the next round of the Champions League.

42:25And then after that, we're struggling. PSG is still in it, so we can get them again. And then after that, we've run out of teams that he used to play for. Yeah, yeah. So we're struggling. To be fair, Sunday, like, he was... I thought he looked a bit more at it on Sunday, but he was just... Our game plan in the first half was just to lump it up to either him or Solanke and just see what happens. So he couldn't really do much, to be fair. I was excited as well we would link with him like he was going to be initially touted to be the Kane replacement wasn't he that summer from Frankfurt initially before he went to PSG we were linked with him now we've been linked with him for ages but I think there's a player in there definitely

43:04The Fighting Cock:yeah I do as well I think there's a player in there and I think I think it doesn't help that Solanke's come back in so assertively do you know what I mean I think yeah it's just amazing like he is moving i don't say it lightly but he is moving like kane like he has got some of them attributes man like and like it's not just a hold-up play it's don't say it lightly or you do um i don't know i'm saying something lightly i don't know what did i even say oh fucking don't say this lightly he's basically harry kane is what you sounded like you were saying okay i don't what here's your chance oh cheers yeah yeah no just fucking expose me no no i'm giving you a chance to go back to go back don't bow down yeah what I'm saying is is that he has got he's got some of the same attributes as Kane like and I think like the way that he's coming so assertively has increased the gap in like the disappointments with Mouani even though I think he is slowly settling he's such a good centre forward he's a centre forward yeah he's so good and he's had so many injuries and we've missed him massively when he's come back we look like a different team like when I nearly said we will never go down with Dominic Solanke because I stopped myself it doesn't count I made a video earlier talking about Solanke and I was like do you think he's our do you think he's our most important player?

44:31because I think there are players that he's not our best player like Romero I still think he's the best player at the club and obviously Xavi is really important to us Romero and van der Ven are crucial to what we do but now we've got Danso I think if one of them was to be out injured it's really not the end of the world if Danso kind of fills in but I think the drop-off say if he had a fully fit squad I think the drop-off from Solanke to the backup is probably bigger than any other position on the pitch maybe other than like the goalkeeper that's what I was trying to say mate that's what I was trying to say I think he I think he's probably I genuinely think like we are we are such a different team with him I also got I got a bit of shit on Twitter yesterday for saying that I think when he's fully fit, he's a top five striker in the Premier League.

45:14And I don't think that's even mental to say that. It's not ridiculous to say that. I think he, like, I think he is. The only ones I think are guaranteed to be better than Solanke, and maybe this says more about the Premier League landscape, but he is a player, I've always rated him. I really, really like him. It's Haaland, obviously. Ekotike, who I think is the second best now. Izak, when he's obviously fit, and obviously had a difficult time at Liverpool. I do like Jao Pedro, but he's kind of... What were you saying? Top five, did you say? I think top five, yeah. Gio Pedro I'd probably say is better, but again, he's more of a, he's not really a number nine, but I'd still probably say Gio Pedro is better.

45:48Solanke would be doing similar stuff, if not better stuff for Chelsea. I think so. And did you see, I saw Merson on Stick to Football today say that one of the big reasons that Palmer is struggling is because he's not got Jackson. Yeah. And I think that Solanke, if they had someone like a Solanke who can stretch the defence, link the play up, like that would bring, I think that I always quite rated Jackson for the same reasons that I rate Solanke. I think Solanke's better but that's so important you realise you've just aligned yourself with Paul Bairdson yeah fuck fuck it fuck it I mean like he has horrendous take after horrendous take I think he was right he's got bad takes I thought to be fair like he was actually quite an interesting listener but he does chat a lot of shit but with that I was like he was actually right I was like I think he does and I think having a striker like that that is so unselfish and is such like a facilitator like Solanke is and also he's like in terms of goals i think that if you're looking at his best attributes as a striker it's obviously not great to say that his goal scoring is probably the lowest but that's not to say that he's a bad finisher or he doesn't score any goals because one those two things aren't true i just think his other strengths for his game are probably bigger than his finishing but his big game goal record for spurts is like he's really strong like he scored against liverpool he scored against um chelsea he scored against man city twice now obviously scored against villa when we smashed him up last year, scored in the Europa League, both legs of the semi-final of the Europa League, like was influential in that Carabao Cup game and beat Liverpool in the first, like he's a big game player for us.

47:17I just think, I think, I think he's top five strikers in the Prem, definitely. I'm not having like Visser and Watkins and that over him, no way. Gokreis? Not a chance, not even in the same stratosphere. Arsenal would win the league with Solanke up front. They might win it with Gokreis up front to be fair, but. It's probably crazy. If they had Solanke, yeah, exactly. It's part of him and Eze. Yeah.

47:40JP, he says, if it's so difficult to buy players in January, why do we sell one on January 1st? You can't do that, Jay. You just can't because we should have sold him. We got money for him. That's what we haven't done previously. It's easy to buy a player if someone's willing to sell him. We found someone willing to pay£35 million for a player that we overspent on significantly, just two years prior, if there was an opportunity to sell him regardless if there was no plan in comers. I've been, you know, Odebe has been playing on the right-hand side pretty much consistently since Johnson left. So it's not a problem.

48:22That isn't. Although I appreciate your point. And it is difficult to sign players in general. Everybody's found it unless you're Manchester City. It's difficult.

48:30The Fighting Cock:It's difficult to say goodbye to players as well where they are so indicative of something positive that has happened at the club. It's not difficult. It's not. It's easy. I know you don't. I know you don't feel like this. I know the autism's coming through. Shit. Shit. It was fucking shit. And we got 35 million pounds. One memory, 35 million quid. It's fair trade, boys. Do you know what I mean? Yeah, it worked. It worked. Yeah. Although he's been fucking shit for Palace. Yeah, because he's already. I feel bad for him. He is shit, dude. He is shit. Yeah, he's shit. He is shit, that is shit. He is.

49:03Ash says, what's the deal with people wearing red to Tottenham games? Should be thrown out in my opinion. So this is, when you're in the pub, right, and you go, say you're in the Beehive Bend or wherever you go to drink before Spurs, when you see someone who is wearing a red jacket, does it offend you? Do you think, because we talked about this in the WhatsApp group recently, is it, should you as a Spurs fan wear red to the Spurs game? No, not a chance. Have you never done that? No, I don't own it. I actually don't own anything red. Nothing. The only red on my clothes is if I've got a Spurs home shirt.

49:43The Fighting Cock:That's it. I only own one red thing and it fucking haunts me. What is it? That's our van. We've got a camper van and it's fucking red. Right. And we've had it for fucking years, but you can't just go and get a second hand. Do you know what I mean? You have to get what you've got to get. Can you wrap it? Could you wrap it? like just make it like his income or something. But there's loads of things he could do. He chooses not to. He could wrap it wrapped. He could sell it, get another one. There's tons of things he could drive it off a cliff. Spent a grand on it being wrapped. Fuck Arsenal. Do you know what I mean?

50:17The Fighting Cock:I'd rather let it rust. Do you know what I mean? Nick, how committed are you to this? Do you care about it enough? That's what I mean. It fucking does my head in because it's the one red thing and I won't, I don't wear Spurs shirts either so I've got no red. There's no red. Would your wife understand if you wrapped it like how would you go about that conversation would she would she accept that somebody doesn't watch spurs and he's out you know he isn't like us would she accept the fact that you've spent a thousand pounds of the family money it's probably more than that wrapping the van so it wasn't read do you think you could there's any way you could articulate or maneuver this conversation so it ends up happening yeah yeah absolutely i'd um i'd speak about the rough spots on the old boy i talk about like how he's run down oh he's not in a really good place and i just wouldn't mention anything to do with football or arsenal at all but we wouldn't be getting him wrapped red i'll tell you that much to be fair like i don't really i never really see it like in the pub it's more like when you when you're in the ground and you can just see like who's that what's that over there just like a little red thing just walking up the steps it's someone like a red coat on a red like hat i'm like what are you what are you doing like my my stepdad's had a and one of the guys that we go to spurs with has had a big bugbear about this for like a long long time and every time you see someone wearing red it always gets pointed out i just don't understand i don't understand it i'm really don't understand why you do it we at the social when um cow decided that he was going to be security and he nearly didn't let a girl in because she was wearing red trainers and he was proper just giving a shit for a cow is a legend every time we do the the fighting court social like they so the the the venue put on security because they have to because over a certain amount of people going in but we don't know them right and they we don't know them enough to stop certain fan bases coming in cow knows stuff right he knows the fighting cock and he also knows the etiquette around top of the motz bear as well which is really important so cow every time like a fucking legend goes i'll do the doors and he's like he doesn't ask for anything in return we give him something but not a lot but he you know he does it effectively out of his own goodwill and it was i can't remember it's a psg game and there was a there was a geezer and if you've met cow in real life you know he's a lump right he's a big geezer like you you would have to fancy your chances a little bit if you thought you could take him on right anyway we were doing uh we were all watching the game and there were stragglers coming in and there was a geezer just comes up to the door and goes i want to come in and cow's got well you ain't got a ticket and he goes no no i'm an arsenal fan or a hate watch the cow was ready to kick his head in he was he was gonna spread him like marmalade all over you ain't fucking coming in here mate which is i think my best impression of cow i've ever done but he's he's uh yeah he just said like you ain't coming in like if you if you think you're coming in i'm gonna smash your face in that's what he said to that girl with the red trainers and all.

53:20The Fighting Cock:Yeah. He's like, take them off. Who do you think you are? Do you know where you are? He's kind of sitting next to him dying. It's like, you know, in the in-betweeners where Simon has to go swap his new trainers with the homeless man's shoes. Yeah. Make him do that. It was close. One final question. I've lost the geezer's name, but he said, in the run-up to the North London derby, Arsenal have to play Sunderland at home, which is this Saturday. Then on Thursday, they play Brentford away. Then they've got Wigan at home on the Sunday following, three days later. Then three days later, they've got to play Wolves away.

53:59And then they play Spurs on the 22nd. And we've got one game in that running. So I think the question was, could we? Why have they got so many games? I don't know. Because they're successful and they're a well-run football club, Ben. I don't know. What the fuck? Good point. Good point. Good point. they've got the FA Cup and they've got they've got cramming Premier League fixtures I don't imagine I think we're going to fucking do them I really genuinely think this is going to be a momentous occasion where Tottenham Hotspur smash Arsenal dent their title hopes will sing songs about that in years to come I genuinely do if you want to find more of Ben then you can everywhere by just typing in Ben Bowman wherever whatever social platform he's on is there follow his Instagram Ben Bowman thanks mate Yeah, no worries.

54:46Nick is less active on social media than Ben. Don't Google me. Cheers. All right, and that's been the Fine Cup Podcast.

54:58ladies Whoa, there's a thing. to Rapid Warms. This is Abram Zытaki.

We go full superstar discourse on Xavi Simons and why he just feels indestructible, then pivot into the Romero “disgrace” fallout and that weird Viaplay story about Spurs blocking Thomas Frank interviews. There’s also a proper moan about the Lange interview, January’s no-plan-B approach, Solanke being outrageously important, and a vital debate on whether wearing red to Spurs should be a bootable offence.
