2:03Mate, I've literally just signed in like 12 seconds and you're like, right, start in. I was like, fucking hell, mate. Mate, we've got Igor Tudor to talk about. 12 seconds. Bang, that's it, record. Mate, a week ago, if you'd have told me that Igor Tudor or Igor Tudor is going to be managing the mighty Tottenham Hotspur against our meanest of foes Arsenal in 11 days, I wouldn't have believed you. I've got to be honest. No. I wouldn't have believed you, but we'll get into all of that. Before, I don't want to forget, right? Right now, if you go on my Instagram, Flav underscore Bateman, there is a link to a post, or there is a post, rather, of a giveaway that we're doing of a signed Hoon Min Song shirt from the Europa League campaign of last season.
2:47And all you have to do is follow me, follow The Fighting Cock, and follow Match Worn's shirt. and you have a chance to win. You also have to add someone in the comments as well because that's how these things work. But it's a lovely thing. Ricky, you're not going to have it. You can't go in the comments and go, can I please have it? Especially if I was, we could have engineered this in a way that you could have had it. But now you've made it so bait that you can never have it. Well, yeah, I know. I mean, we could still do that. If we stop talking about it. No one will notice. Yeah, no one will notice.
3:23They won't remember. They won't remember.
3:28They won't remember. They won't remember.
3:33We've got John from the Big John Bass Show and the Firecock. All right. And this, like you say, this is about the 15th time we've spoken this week. I just can't get enough of you, John. There's so much to get. Yeah, well, this is it. And there's lots of stuff happening, isn't there? So there's lots to talk about, which is good. Someone did ask me if I was going to be on Joe Rogan this week. and I was like no not this week next week you've got your dates mixed up but yeah doing a lot of pods my voice is holding up though so it's fine so maybe I won't be slurping my way through this but I've got a lovely delicious English tea here so I'll get stuck into that a bit what is the best brand of tea bag?
4:06I know the answer already
4:10well we have these fancy ones something pig they're called they're like organic tea bags I know the ones you're talking about yeah I know them as well you're saying these are the best I don't care what you've got in your house what's your opinion? No, it's Yorkshire tea. I knew you was going to say that. That's the popular choice. Yeah, it's Yorkshire tea. Well, Tetley's. Tetley's. Tetley's. Tetley's. Are we fucking going on about Tetley's? No, yeah. Let's put some mud in a bag, son. Yeah, no, no, not Tetley's. Not Tetley's. No, the PG Tips is like the bog standard. Oh, mate, fucking terrible.
4:40Yeah, that's like the Fosters of the tea world. Yeah, 100%. Yeah. The best breakfast tea is Twining's. Twining's, English breakfast tea. English breakfast, yeah. It is incredible, right? I made myself a cup of tea the other day. The missus was at work and I sort of sat down. And I don't usually do that. I only drink tea if she's around. And I sat down and I was like, that is banging cup of tea. I made myself another cup of tea. I finished it and then another one straight away. I went on holiday for my birthday. My missus surprised me with a really nice trip to this really fancy hotel. and it had like in the room it had like a view of the mountains it was like a big open plan like this incredible room and stuff for my 40th birthday it's a lovely surprise we even had a hot tub on the balcony right this whole thing and then a couple of days in i was like listing all the things that i liked about it and i was like the twining's tea here i don't know what they're doing but this twining's english it's a mark of a quality hotel she's like i could have fucking stayed at home and got you some twining to save us a fortune but i hope quality makes a difference i hope no one surprises me with a holiday like i need time to mentally prepare to go if you if you if my missus gone surprise we're going to italy and i'd like instinctively i'll go i don't want to go yeah the melt i had a meltdown um i had a meltdown because you weren't you working and stuff you're working well so she kept i mean it's kind of obvious in hindsight but she was like what days you work in like can you move it around i make sure you finish before your birthday and i normally try to book my birthday like basically my birthday's 14th of december and that whatever that week is i'll finish on that friday and then just have the rest of christmas off so i normally do that anyway so it was fine for work but i'm just like i need to plan i need to pack stuff and like just i like to prep for the airport i'm a bit of like a dad at the airport we've just like so it stressed me out but once we got there and i saw the twinings then i could relax because it's a mark of quality I'm going to be fair I did a surprise a surprise birthday for my missus we will get to Igor Tudor people listen I'm so sorry people are like what are you fucking idiots so self-indulgent talking about their fucking lives I get it right apologies
6:51anyway we're not even talking about our lives we're talking about twining fucking tea and the time that we had it you had it in your house fucking hell mate it just got fucking twining it opens this cup and twining just buries him Do you remember my wedding where we provided little breakfast baskets? Oh, mate, that was a bloody lovely touch, though. Yeah. Yeah, that was... Cost about grand, but yeah, lovely touch. Yeah, and you asked that 900 quid on twining. It's the mark of quality, this is what I'm saying. Yeah, I did a full surprise birthday for my wife. Hated it. And she liked it once she was there.
7:27I could see in her face she just wants to know so she can wear something nice. she's just turned up in a hoodie and i'm like i mean i put so much work into that's so stressful i'm never doing anything like that again anyway fuck this igor tudor is tottenham oxford manager
7:46um tell me something about him rick i've got some stuff yeah you got stuff have you i've got some stuff i'm not gonna be i'm not gonna be like one of these people that pretend oh yeah i know all about igor tudor i'm gonna read you some stuff that i read earlier on the internet yeah yeah i I was going to do that, but that'd be pointless now. You've just said that because I've done exactly that. I did prep for the podcast. You did? Everyone knows I don't fucking know anything about it. The only thing that was, when you say Eagle Trudor, first thing that comes to my mind is the name Eagle, and that was the name of the butler in Count Ducula.
8:25Oh, right. I mean, that was, you know, that's it really. That's all I've got. I remember him being a kind of towering centre-back for Juve. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Champ manager, utility man. Just could do bits. Igor Tudor. But he didn't really play. He wasn't like a starter for Juve. He was kind of like, he'd come off the bench. Champ man early, champ man days, I remember him. Could never convince him to come, but fucking bent over for us, didn't he? He's like straight in. I'll do it. I'll do it. everyone's like what are we going to do who's going to want to come and do this job and not be guaranteed it I'll do it is that Igor yeah turn and knock at the door and they're all in the executive suite it's like who's that get up and get that yeah like no you do it he opens the door hello it's Igor what are you what are you doing here mate he's like one of them lads in the playground where like everyone's playing football and they want to play, but they don't know anyone.
9:28So they're just sort of walking around hoping, like someone goes, do you want to play, mate? Or someone gets injured. It will be. Just lurking around. He's been walking around Hotspur Way for the last two months. They'll be like, you know what, are you going to be like, yeah, yeah, just in for a meeting. He's really worried that they'll say no if he asks to be Spurs manager. Yeah. Please come to be Spurs manager. Please come to be Spurs manager. No. Oh, jeez. I know. I'll come in. I'll do it. What do you want? What do you want? Well, we need someone to come in. what credentials do you have? I kept Udinese up in 2018.
10:01Went in there, problems, kept them up. That's all right. Sort of similar to our situation. We've got, okay, Igor, okay, what else you got? I managed to secure Champions League football for Juve. And a lot of people said I should have kept the job, but there was a lot of upheaval in the boardroom. Damien Camoli, do you remember him? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's come in and he said, nah, Igor, you're not good enough for us. so I'm out of a job and they had Spalletti in the wings of course Spalletti's going to come in Igor Trudor he only refers to himself in third person Igor Trudor cannot compete with Spalletti so he said yeah I'll do it and everywhere he's gone in his career for 30-40 games then he's gone doesn't matter wherever he is whether he's permanent temporary he's happy that's his life I've never quite known a managerial career like his he doesn't have a house just lives out of his suitcase yeah just a bag of twining that's all he needs bag of twining wash bag two pairs of clothes travelling from city to city looking for managerial jobs yeah maybe hello my name's Igor he's created a new category of managers like a professional interim manager it's like the perfect job in football you just come in just do it for a few months and then move on.
11:23That's perfect. I'd love that. In business, you have firefighters that come in and fix things, administrators that come in and repair things that go wrong. He's essentially a footballer's administrator. What's all this fucking shit? I'm going to sort this all out. He's going to go in as person. What is all this fucking shit? There's people, there's fucking condoms over there. Who's are they? Jez Spence walks in to serve us. yeah i like that he's also just doing maintenance as well he's like that leaky tap i fixed that don't worry don't worry if you're not he's doing odd jobs he's like painting he's like that needed a new look of paint oh that's that's been done the game at the weekend yeah don't worry i got that as well it's fine like he's getting they're getting full mileage out of him he's basically like the maintenance man and manager yeah good good he's also money worth he's also you know like did you ever see dangerous minds that film with uh school michelle pfeiffer yeah michelle pfeiffer she goes in and it's like predominantly sort of urban school and she's like this white prim and proper but turns a bit of a badass sexy bitch and she goes she goes in there and turns this unruly craft unruly class of cunts turns me to model students by showing them a bit of love yeah that's what he's coming today he's still you lot fucking behaving like wankers i'm here to sort this out i've got 15 14 games to sort this out he's he's michelle pfeiffer a dangerous mind it wasn't wasn't Gangster's Paradise the theme song as well maybe we should come out to that now come out to that dress him up like Michelle Pfeiffer we are on to something now I think that's good yeah that is class he has come in apparently he's a disciplinarian been spending most my life living in a gangster's paradise he's a disciplinarian he is he's going in apparently I've heard is he really disciplinarian look at him Ricky look at his face he looks like a fucking hard cunt I'll tell you that he does any of you cunts want it he goes in the changing room any of you want it any of you Cootie you want it that's what he's got to do he's got to bang out Cootie first yeah he's immediately the hardest bloke in the changing room and he knows it and I rate that he's definitely got to call one of the main lads out and just deck someone immediately I'll pin him up against the wall and just let him know who's boss straight in who would it be who would you pin against the wall it's Romero yeah Romero straight away And if he even attempts to go back, kick the shit out of him.
13:50Absolutely kick the shit out of him. If you really want to like, you know, start... Oda Bear's sitting there like, oh my God, what's going on? Matty's tail's got like in tears. Igor Tudor just piecing Romero up. Just smashing him to bits. Fattered him. I think you've got to bear in mind that we're probably going to need Romero. So he needs to make a power play that shows the players is serious and also like keeps them all fit. So I like the idea of like him saying, you know, if anyone crosses me, anyone can get it. And like Vinay's there, like standing there just going, yeah. And then he just turns to Vinay.
14:23He's like, no, you as well. And he's like, you know, just gets him around the throat. And you know, like in one of the Batmans when he's like, Bane's got the geezer and he's like got him by the neck. And he's like, but I've paid you like a fortune, a huge amount of money. And he's like, you think this gives you power over me? Just in front of all the players. And then he just lets him go. And Vinay's there just wet himself. And he's like, anyone can fucking get it. here lads like I don't care I'm only here for a short time yeah I've got nothing to lose yeah and then when all the players leave and Vinay's gone he's just there cleaning up his puddle of piss don't worry he's got the little yellow cone like wet surface it's putting that out make sure everyone's all right doing his little jobs yeah so he does he does rule with an iron fist apparently shit great I think look I I don't I don't hate it I don't think that's a bad thing I think that I think I think the players kind of took the piss out of Frank a little bit I don't know this I'm just slowly coming to this realisation.
15:18Yep. You know, there is this sort of, it feels a little bit cliquey and it feels like the players feel like it's us against everybody. You know, it's come out, it's been reported, lots have come out since Frank's gone, but reported that there's, some of the summer signings were surprised by the gap or the wedge placed between the supporters and the squad. And they were upset about Thomas Frank and how he spoke to the players in terms of mentioning Arsenal, which is fair enough. And then the huddles before going into the dressing room. It was all weird. Weird. They're behaving like a weird little bunch of babies at the moment, I think.
15:58They're all unhappy. Oh, they're booing us. They're booing us. Show us support. Fucking stop being wankers. Win some games and we'll support you. I promise you we will support you if you start winning. I promise. But you're behaving like knobs. I just don't think they respected Frank. I don't think he had command of that group of players at all. When Spence and van der Venric, he walked past him. That was a warning sign. And we didn't, I don't think we saw it at the time. It was a mistake. It was a mistake. That was a warning sign. When Frank didn't fine and chastised Romero for that sending off and the, not the Leicester sending off, but the statement, I showed that.
16:39I think that was his lack of power and his lack of ease. he doesn't have the conies to manage these petulant wankers. Yeah, I think a lot of the players were shown a lot of frustration, especially, you know, that Van der Ven and Spence, like you just said, totally ignored him when he asked them to kind of clap the fans. There's another time where Spence had been substituted off and as he's coming off, he's, you know, gesticulating and he's obviously annoyed. Van der Ven and Porro going over to the away fans at Bournemouth and giving it Romero his social media posts not got control over that he's you know it's twice it's happened Romero's tackling frustration so there's a lot of things whereby you can tell that they're just not happy and I get that and I get that you're that there was also something in the press where uh the players apparently were unhappy that they were being played to set up against other people's uh how offensive they were and how we as a team were going to defend instead of us going on the front foot and attacking um and i get that's not the way that you want to play and i get that it can be frustrating if you want to do something different and but the end of the day like if that's your manager and he's telling you to play a certain way you should be doing that to the tee and be respectful uh professional and carrying out those orders instead of like kind of feeling like you're downing tools and just showing a lot of frustration on the pitch so although yep frank's kind of um the tactics and especially like the the first half against Newcastle.
18:25It's like, we're just pumping it long to Solanke or Odebeer who's tiny or fucking Javi. It's like, what, what on earth do you think is going to happen? The ball is just going to come back. So Frank isn't, you know, it's not squarely at his feet and it was his tactics. And I think he didn't have the respect of the players and he'd lost the dressing room and all of that stuff. But no, the players got, you know, the players are culpable as well. They can't just stand there with their hand up and being like, It weren't us, it weren't us, it's all him. It's almost certain every time, John, I don't know what you think, but it's never just the manager.
19:01It's a combination of everything. They've stopped listening to him and stopped doing what he's asked him to do or haven't respected him enough to bend to his will. And he hasn't also commanded that respect. So there's mistakes everywhere, but it isn't just Thomas Frank. It never is just the manager. No, do you remember when he first came in and he was talking about his policy of the no dickheads policy at Brentford? right and that they'd like really installed this part of their recruitment process and i think at the time myself included we were like yeah that's you know it's a good way to think about it right you want you want a group that's got the right sort of culture and like everyone's pulling in the same direction but the reality is is that that it doesn't really work like that in real life like there are going to be especially when you inherit a squad and you know it's not going to be straight away you're going to potentially inherit people that wouldn't have passed that no dickheads policy in your previous club how do you deal with that and i think as you go up the levels of football the ratio of non-dickhead to dickhead in a given squad is going to be higher the higher you go up because the egos are bigger and the demands are bigger and the their background and experience is greater you know how many world cup winners has thomas frank managed before he came to spurs like it's a completely different ball game and so this idea of i don't want any dickheads is a in a way is a way to shield you from having to deal with them and having to cope and manage them.
20:21And the best managers are able to do that. You know, the example I always give is like someone like Ancelotti. When he's at Real Madrid, it's not so much about the details and the tactics and stuff. He is literally just managing egos. He's managing those players like, you're telling me Mbappe's not a dickhead. Like, of course he is. Like, Vinny Jr.'s not a dickhead. Of course he is. A lot of their squad will be what Frank would consider dickheads. And I do think we have quite a few in this squad. And that's a sort of bigger issue that whoever is the long-term manager we'll have to figure out which ones are acceptable good enough basically to stay which ones need to be like bombed out because that will have a longer term impact Tudor just needs to get a grip of them just needs to like do whatever he needs to do to get results from them and I do think and again I don't know a lot about him either but I do think this idea of like rules with an iron fist doesn't necessarily mean that he's gonna like you know call people out and ostracize people I think it's just he's gonna set a standard that he expects them to play to and hopefully it's what I've been hoping for which is just someone that's just going to give a short term like boost to this is what we need to achieve together this is how we're going to do it like come with me on this journey and we'll like we'll get what we need to get which is to stay up right we're going to get enough results to stay up so i think we need someone like that rather than someone who's all about the tactics and details and analytics you just need a good man manager we just in the short term yeah we just need a man manager who can just motivate them and that seems like what he's good at from what I've read.
21:47But when Frank turned up and he said no dickheads and then he slowly realised there's dickheads. Yeah, the entire changing room is full of dickheads. And then match day in the stadium, just dickheads everywhere. Last week there was 38 ,000 dickheads in that stadium. Yeah, it's difficult. I think if you're building something from the scratch, like a new company or a new team or you're starting again, you can kind of implement that no dickheads rule and it's quite common. I've worked in startups and no dickhead philosophy comes up all the time. And I think you should just kind of generally surround yourself with less dickheads if you can and your life will be better.
22:30But then there's always that dickhead. It's all right if you know him. He's all right. Mate, your mate's a dickhead. I know. Everyone knows, but when he gets to know him, he's all right. Do you know what we're talking about? Who Igor should go and kick the shit out of if he goes into the dressing room. I don't actually think it's Romero. He really needs to send waves. Really send significant waves. I think he needs to kick the shit out of Byfield. Oh, okay. Yeah, he's just turned 17. Yeah. Yeah, just really put a number on him. Or I was thinking more like Kulisevsky. Yeah. He's just, you know, he's been out for 12 months.
23:11Like wrestling. Yeah, do the knee again. He ain't scared. Put him in a figure four leg lock. Ken Shamrock him. In the changing room. What are you doing? What are you doing? Fuck him. You ain't going to play again anyway. The message. It's all about the message. If he is to get it right, this is what you can expect. This is quite a favourable look at his tenureship, but this is what it says. Formation and strike. 25:10High-intensity pressing implements an aggressive front-foot European-style press that aims to force errors often trapping opponents, particularly at clubs like Helles, Verona and Marseille. We actually played Marseille when he was managing and we beat him under, what was it, Conte? Was that the Heuberg last minute? We weren't good in that game. No, we were too. By the way, they were much better than us, so everything's going to be fine. uh first uh vertically and sorry verticality verticality cality and attack what the fuck does verticality mean like we just go direct yeah direct and instead of playing around at the back yeah all right yeah well obviously uh focuses on quick direct attacking rather than extreme procession good that ball's going forward boy yeah that's i like that yeah yeah yeah this will please my dad yeah I'm fucking playing out on the back gal I've said this before dad I know you fucking said it before I promise you I've heard you I've heard you so many times why the fuck fucking around on the back dad I know I don't know when that ball goes back to Vicario I think my dad like I look at my dad I'm like he's gonna have an aneurysm get it off him get the ball of Vicario quickly I want my dad around I want my dad around uh direct attacking rather than extreme possession often utilising two attacking midfielders as number 10s behind a lone striker to create chances.
26:34Chances. This sounds similar to what Crystal Palace do and Glasner does. He has a pinot slash, where he had an Eze sort of number 10 where you had two players that sit not off a width necessarily. The fullbacks might do that, but you'd have two 10s in like a triangle. oh interesting so it's quite interesting I could see a Xavi Simmons and a who's the other one Williams Barnett just play it just throw him in mate I don't I don't I don't hate it until we destroy him yeah like that's the bit where I do hate it but let's let's see run him into the ground or just let him play the first game and then let like Tudor just bang him out in the middle of the pitch just knock him out he's not ready Tudor keeps sending messages he keeps sending messages at first he's bad Byfield he's bad Romero Williams Barnett gives the ball away he just batters him at halftime.
27:25Goes storming into the stadium just like drags Vivian Lewis out by pulling her, dragging her along the floor. Shame. Just fucking throwing out. Shame. Disgrazia. Disgrazia. Defensive pros uses aggressive man-orientated marking to defend. Man-orientated marking. Otherwise known as man-marking. Yeah, man-marking. You don't need orientated in there, you fucking dickhead chatty, VT. mentality promotes a courageous and intense style demanding that teams be proactive and entertaining spectators. Yes. If all of that is true, how has he not kept any of his jobs? No, I know, no. Do you know what? I liked when I, where was that posted in the WhatsApp group?
28:12Because I feel like, oh yeah, I felt like I read that before. But I was like getting through all of it and I was like, I like everything what this guy's saying. And then it got to that bottom bit and it was like playing courageous and playing good attacking football or entertaining the fans. I was like, you've gone too far, man. It's like with Nuno. I'm going to make you proud. I know that ain't going to happen. When Nuno went, I'm going to make you proud. We know you're not going to make us proud. We don't even want you here. You're not going to make us proud. Poor Nuno. Poor Nuno. So is this formation, right?
28:45So there's three centre-backs and then there's two wing-backs, two central midfielders, two tens in front of that, and then a striker. Correct. That's quite sexy, actually, isn't it? Because if you think about who we've got available, right, you go, obviously like Vicario, unfortunately, he's probably still the best choice in goal. But then you go, you're centre-backs, you've got Van der Ven. I think if it's a three, we haven't got that many available. Byfield is going to get some games, which I'm quite excited about that because I feel like he's a promising young talent. When Romero's back, obviously Romero, and then Dragasin worries me a little bit.
29:21But between him and Byfield, you can get away with that and maybe you can play Polina there as well right and then the central two you could play Gallagher Gray Polina like you know two out of those three Basuma Basuma if you really had to and then ahead of that Simmons the only issue is we don't have another 10 unless you are going to play like Gray there maybe or well it was I thought Gallagher was more of a he's supposed to be more of a attacking forward like more of a forward player I think people just say a lot of shit Rick yeah I think people just say say shit. Right, okay. And then we hear it and we go, well, I thought he's, I don't, just don't believe.
29:57Well, I thought he was this guy that is like, you know, just floated around outside the box and he's the one that can score some goals and arrives late and he's that, that kind of more advanced state. Box crasher. Yeah, box crasher, that type. I tell you what I've seen. More of an attacking player. Fucking clogger. That's what I've seen. Yeah, against Newcastle he did look like his boot clogged fucking tied together. Yeah, the fucking Cockney catamore, mate. Just slugging about smashing people. I don't mean that. I feel like everything's going to be fine when Big Daddy Poch comes back home. That's what all this is leading to, isn't it?
30:28Yeah. Gallagher's going to be world-class under Poch. He's going to be amazing. This is supposed to be a Q &A podcast and we've got tons of questions, but we've already done 30 minutes, so we'll probably restrict the questions into like a 10, 15-minute period because I want to ask you the question, do you think, lads, that they've done the right thing here? Will this work out? Will it end in tears? Would he save us from relegation? Is it right to not appoint a manager right now to get started? Like, say, De Zerbi. I don't want De Zerbi. But do you feel, like, comfortable with this appointment, Rick?
31:07Well, that is the question, isn't it? Like, we're not going to fucking – I won't be able to be, like, until the end of the season and we're not relegated. And then I say, yeah, it was a good decision, wasn't it, Flav? Because at the moment, I ain't got a fucking clue. No, no, I don't think anybody. Deserby coming in, that would just be fireworks. I can imagine after three games, he's already quit and he actually has beaten up some of our players. So not just us joking, he's actually done that. So I think we were right to give him a swerve, but then someone, you know that a manager had to come as an interim.
31:45Now, who is going to take that? number one who's already in a job permanent job and it's going to leave a permanent job to be an interim at Tottenham not going to be many who is already floating about now that is actually going to have the credentials and experience in the Premier League and stuff like that not going to be a lot you're going to have to take a gamble so where where does it really and like at this moment in time are we actually gonna make a permanent choice knowing that we have the gooners in what would have been like 12 days knowing that um you know come the summer a certain someone's you know probably going to be available a certain few people are going to be available after the world cup you know so it's like what like what what are we going to do going to panic and get a promo in i don't think so so it needs to be a rim job really interimers it's like there's this bird you really fancy but you still get you still get horned up on a night out yeah yeah yeah so you might go back with a buzz yeah I mean you might go back with go on carry on yeah one night stand yeah even though you love someone down the line yeah yeah yeah like I'm not gonna not what because you've potentially promised me a relationship in four months time if i go out i'm not what i can't shag a bird yeah we've got we've all got needs we're on a break yeah we're on a break so what's the big deal on the break you you fuck mate you down the road yeah what so now i can't have a bit of ego tudor is that right yeah yeah and if i don't if i don't bang i'm gonna get relegated from life i'm like i'm gonna get kicked out my flat like i'm not gonna earn as much money so i have to bang someone are we banging or or are we being banged?
33:42I don't know. It's the problem. Bit of both in this. It's quite, it's sort of consensual, which is good. 69 in. Yeah. It's mutually beneficial to all parties. I will say this, like, obviously I've been very critical of, um, that's your favorite. Sorry. Sorry. Yeah. I know for a fact that Ricky's favorite sex position is 69. Like he'd do that over anything else. Yeah. Oh, mate, it's fucking glorious. Fucking glorious. Love it. just because like the name of it, 69, like two numbers upside down. Like it's just brilliant in that sense. And then you kind of like, things are happening downstairs for you and you look up.

34:22Oh, I don't know. What's that up there? Got minging my face. What's that winking at me? I can't handle it. I actually can't handle it. It's the sexual equivalent of like when people go, can you pat your head and then rub your stomach?
34:39i can't handle it mate i can't do it and it's well it throws you off i'm like oh i'm not enjoying yeah separated this is fantastic but together i just can't i can't deal with it it's too much um so i've been um i've been very critical of like vinai the board um lewis family and and langer i will give them a very small bit of credit about the way that this has been handled because my worry was they wouldn't sack him they'd wait and keep him for too long well they have finally sacked him to your credit John the rumours are that they didn't want to sack him it was yeah well it was taken a butt out of Vinay's hands and Langer's hands because they wanted to stick with Frank and it was actually the Lewis family that pulled the trigger although there are people saying that is true and isn't true so we don't know yeah but either way right like when when I was talking about I just could see a world in which they don't like they're not going to sack him you know some people agreed and some people didn't agree right because it you could see a world where they just were going to stick with him for thick and thin and if it's been taken out of their hands then again praise to the lewis family for actually making a decision then the next thing is like okay you got rid of him to rick's point right we got at the time we had 12 days between like the you know that game and the scum game you got to make a decision quickly because you want to give the new person time to to do something come up with a game plan for the scum game right and start to implement it you don't want to in my opinion go for like a full appointment because the pool that you're sort of fishing in is a lot smaller you want to wait until the summer so interim is the most logical choice and to have appointed someone who okay look if you're comparing like eagle tudor to the list of people that we want to go for in the summer it's not going to be a good comparison obviously but if you're comparing him to like the list of managers who to rick's point would be available would be interested in taking an interim job he's got champions league experience he's played for top clubs he's he's got a certain level of reputation for an interim manager i don't think it's it's bad at all and they've done it quickly because i thought they were going to take another couple of days at least but now he's he's got a lot of time because my understanding is the players were given five days off after that newcastle game so he's got a couple of days to sort of acclimatize with the staff internally like figure out his back room how that's going to work start thinking about game plan so when those players come back they can get straight into it they can start planning for that game and so to me that whoever has been responsible for this little bit I think they've actually done this pretty well now we hope and pray that he can do his job right and he's actually going to deliver but for now I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt I think they've handled this particular like week and a bit pretty well and then it remains to be seen what happens in the summer.
37:23Players got five days off. That's why I was fucking lazy slag. oh sorry no no no rick no the fact that we were on the same page because i remember being at school and there was a science lab blew up and we had a week off and everyone didn't give a shit about the science lab like fuck the science lab it was a shit someone left a bunsen burner plugged the bunsen burger one of the kids and uh and it and it blew up half blew up it wasn't that dramatic but we had like a week off school and everyone's like fucking do it again that's what that's what our players are walking away going, five days off, mid-season, are you mad?
37:56This is great, let's get another one set. Can I just take you and remind you actually, before we go into the questions, we'll do some quick fire questions, but before that, I want to remind you that the Fighting Cock podcast is sponsored by NordVPN, that's nordvpn.com forward slash the Fighting Cock. Don't skip ahead because I know that's what some people do. I do it sometimes on a podcast. I've got some new information for you that doesn't result. Come on. We're not talking about pornography again. We definitely will lean into that in a couple of weeks or months. But right now we've got something else.
38:32I'm going to list off a few things that NordVPN does. Online privacy matters more than ever with NordVPN. Makes it simple. One click, your internet traffic is encrypted and protected. 39:12I don't even have 10 devices in my house. No. I bought a couple more just to maximize my VPN. I've got a phone and a laptop. I don't even use them over there. Easy to use with clean, beginner, friendly, in fact, it is really easy to use as well. 24-hour customer support, seven days a week, 30-day money-back guarantee. So if you don't get anything from it, then you want to figure out, oh, what is the VPN all about? I'm a creepy little geezer and I need to access all the pornography. I know, fuck, I've done it. I'm a creepy little geezer and I need to... get cheap flights you can do that with NordVPN cheap flights that's more important so yeah nordvpn.com forward slash the fighting cock that's not, is that it?
39:58the fighting cock, link is in the description below 34 I think you're 4 months off free from a 24 month sign up so support the fighting cock podcast, support everything we do because you lot are legends and we can't do it without you lot of support and sign up to this stuff. So NorthVPN is a legitimately great thing, a wonderful thing. Let's do some questions there, boys, then. Come on in.
40:26So Balasaurus on Reddit. Shout out to r4sashkoys Reddit. Great community of people. Fantastic service for information. If you need to find anything out about Tottenham Hotspur, then our subreddit is one of the best out there in terms of football subreddits. And it's packed for the Spurs fans. Some of them are cocks, got to be honest. But most of them decent human beings. And they always turn up when we ask a question. So if you're on Reddit, go to r4.coids. You probably know already. Balasora says, not pointing any fingers, but were you guys just unaware of the comments deserve to be made in defense of Greenwood?
41:07In the last episode, that didn't come up at all. so just wondering if you're out of the loop on that because beyond him being a volatile character that's the big reason big reason to not want him as a manager um no i wasn't aware i'd imagine by based on that he said something positive about greenwood i know i didn't know that i think most of the reason reason why i wouldn't want him is because of you being a volatile character i don't know what he said about greenwood the fact that he backed him that's you know i don't want him anyway um all i know is what i heard on those tapes for greenwood and there's a father to a 17 year old girl he makes my skin crawl so yeah yeah um gully rhythm says in order of tudor make the last six spurs managers with the fates of henry yates wives okay all headed about no no No, they weren't.
42:04No, but the managers are. Oh, they should all be beheaded. So divorced, beheaded, died. Divorced, beheaded, survived. Gotcha. So Frank, Ange, Conte, Nuno, Mourinho and Pochettino survived. Pochettino survived. Frank, divorced. Ange, divorced. Conte, beheaded. Nuno, beheaded. Mourinho, beheaded. Fair? Yeah, not bad. Yeah. Ricky, would you meet Igor Tudor in a hotel room, a Premier Inn in Watford to have sexual intercourse with the man? Would you milk him dry, this question is, if he keeps us up? I'd milk him dry in other ways. Big boy. Yeah, he's a big boy. and I really don't like, I can imagine he'd be vicious.
43:05I'd lose a leg for it. Imagine he'd throw you all over that room. He'd throw you all over and throw me in. You'd be like Ricky's naked body bouncing off like pine, fake faux pine panelling. Yeah, exactly. Bouncing off it, cracking the wall. I'm just picturing like Ricky and Tudor 69 and like because of the size difference, like Rick's just licking his belly button. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. he's just like midway through as he's going in on me I'm just like where are you going Eagle and he's just gone to get the travel line just to hit me with it fuck what are you doing mate what's this mentalist he's actually smashing fuck out of you and you're just licking yeah I know yeah no so yeah for milk him dry I'll do that but anything else I'm not really up for it good lad good lad I've got I have got my limits you know so what you're saying is you prefer Daniel Levy yeah yeah yeah interesting if you remember if you remember it was Daniel Levy fully clothed with his erect cock poking through his trouser fly where a naked Ricky would ride him yeah vigorously until he came and he whispered into Ricky's ear you've made me come oh that's disgusting why do you have to do that bit it's fucking foul but we could we could just expand this universe because, you know, obviously like now Ricky's with Igor Tudor.
44:31Levy's in the cup chair like Schwarzenegger in True Light, just like in the dark. And he's just like, dance for me. Ricky's there just. And then him and Tudor get off while Levy watches. Ricky's face down naked, just being absolutely hammered. See, that's why I don't want to do it because it would be. I know you don't want to do it. I know. I get it, Rick, but it's important we don't go down. Yeah, I know. You've got to do it. you've got to go down or we're all going down has he got to do it no of course he's got to do it no way yeah but Igor would never whisper into your ear Ricky he'd just go yeah spit on my back proper greenie as well that's too much that's the line that is the line Ricky you can come on my back but don't flop on my back I've got a grolly on my back I have a snot shot.
45:29Burger Destroyer 7 says, Flav, there's a print of a dog wearing a mask in the background of your office. Yes, there is. My co-worker thinks it's MF Doom related. It isn't. I think it's based on the gif of the dog in the devil mask. No, you're both wrong. We need to settle one. It's a pug with a Batman mask is what it is by an artist called Charmin Baker. Uh, so yeah, that's what it is.

47:53Could we bottle relegation and stay up? Do you think if you heart on heart, boys, just say yes or no, are we staying up? Yes. Yeah. And if you have to percentage wise, how much are we staying up?
48:13I'll go 73 % that's not enough that makes me feel anxious because that's only one in four I'm afraid that's all I could probably give you as well really same yeah it's not going to be like I'm you know 95 definitely 10 toes staying up man fair Hotspur says will we ever be happy again do you know what I've been thinking about this have you ever thought you know that that you know like mitchell and webb show that where the nancy um officer is dressed up and there's skulls on his cap and then there's this slow realization that they might be the baddies yeah so they're fighting this war and i'm like oh my god are we the baddies everyone hates tottenham yeah like we are the most hated club in london hands down Yeah.
49:05There are clubs outside of London we have no realistic rivalry with who hate our guts, hate us, Leicester, Southampton, hate us. Yeah. Villa hate us. They want to replace us, right? Maybe we are cocks. Maybe we're all just dickheads and we don't realise we're the friends. We're the bloke in the friendship group who were all right once you get to know him. Because that bloke doesn't know he's a dick. I just don't understand why, though. What have we done? Why are we so offensive to everyone? Well, and that's what I'm saying. If you don't know, maybe you're a cock and you don't know it. We are, we may be all like, dick it.
49:42Maybe. No, I think we're more like, we're more like Jesus, right? Like when he was about, everyone was like, what's this twat piping up? Like, no, we're not having any of this, mate. Like shut your mouth. And then they fucking stuck him on a cross, bang some nails at him, like doing all sorts, like absolutely mugging him off. And then in hindsight, you know, when you take a step back, now everyone's like, oh, he's brilliant. Worship him and all that. but at the time everyone thought he was a right prick from all sides he was getting it from all sides that's what I'm saying that's what a dickhead would say John you're calling Jesus a dickhead are you man no you're saying we're like the second coming of Christ that's what you're saying no no I'm saying we're the first we're not the second coming of Christ that bit's yet to come we're Christ when everyone was slagging him off stick it with crucifixion Christ do you know what I mean we're early doors Jesus we're JC in the early years getting banged to crosses and spat at and stuff and just like sleeping with hoos that sort of stuff
50:38Spursy says there's been so much going on with Spurs this week that I've not had a chance to listen to Monday's podcast is it worth a listen yes what was it I don't know but it's always worth a listen yeah he said is there anything weirdly optimistic about it I can quickly check hang on a second what is it this is the third fear factor this is after the United game. No, just bin that one off. Don't worry about it. It means nothing now.
51:10Does Tudor survive the... I like this. It was someone mocked up a TIFO that we're going to do for his first game. Not that this isn't real. But someone mocked it up and said it's Tudor is Tudor. Yeah, that's good. I like that. I can't remember who posted it. Sorry.
51:32can we also call him Igor 2-dog because that works perfectly for Ricky's little yeah you'd like that Igor 2-dog 2-dog actually he's a very good job fair place I think we will wrap this up now Gareth Bowles right pegs us do you regret meeting Frank in that hotel room are you culpable for do you remember what we did after the game when I made a joke about Oda Bear having an ACL. Yeah. And then it came out. I did think that he'd done his ACL, to be fair. When I looked at it, I was like, that looks exactly like what happened to Dragos and he's done his ACL. But I made a joke to scare you, guys. Was it both of you?
52:18No, it weren't me. I think it was Ben. John, you were there, weren't you? Yeah, I was there. And I just did it for a laugh. But then it turns out, but it's not my fault. people are now saying oh well done Flav yeah I think we were all just like well he's done his ACL so we might as well have a laugh about it that's the way I looked at it anyway do you know what I mean it's like Gallo's you mate he's clearly he'd already done it yeah it's a fact we've all watched him jump on the pitch and land on his like leg awkwardly yeah he's been you know carried off and it's like ACL well done Flav yeah well done well done mate oh man fucking Can you please be yourself, are you?
52:59He's out for a year now. Please be yourself. It happened 24 hours before I'd even said it. Imagine that's how it worked. Like your mate bangs his toe and he's like, oh, my toe's killing me. Like, oh, imagine you broke your leg. And he's like, fuck, my leg's now broken. It doesn't work like that. It is what it is. We just made a joke out of it. It's fine. What I would say to his question is, yes, I do regret meeting Frank in that hotel room. And I regret sending that tweet. that tweet went viral as most of those type of tweets did um and we had a a gig we had an advertiser for this podcast for which was the a really wholesome campaign from the transport police and it was to reduce the raise awareness about the amount of females that are inappropriately touched or approached or abused to some degree at football matches it's an issue right so it's an issue and was like yeah we'll get involved in that definitely uh and then transport police once it got confirmed they've gone through all my social medias and finds this tweet about me saying i'm being that thomas frank has dragged me into a toilet and fingered me and and so they said we can't run this so you you're out because of that tweet so yes i do regret it.
54:20That is peak fighting cock, isn't it? Oh, here's this opportunity to do this really lovely sincere thing. Oh no, we can't do it because someone tweeted about getting fingered. Brilliant. He made a joke. It was a joke. It clearly hadn't actually fingered by Thomas Frank. I'd be on the front of the sun if that happened. We still did inadvertently support that campaign. We did it on lads. Oh, really? Yeah. So, jokes on then really oh yeah you did that you did that to the system didn't you fuck off go fuck your system I got my whole system final question here from Modric THFC he says are you going to hype up Tudor for no reason other than it will make you feel good and then turn on him when it doesn't meet these expectations like you did with Ange and Frank or are you just going to be sensible and wait and see what the manager's like after a load of games what have we done this episode thus far well i wouldn't say we're more wait and see energy yeah like but also it's the same with everyone is this i think there's a difference between going this guy is going to be good right which would be hyping someone up like they're brilliant they're amazing they're going to bring the happy days they're going to be brilliant versus i hope they're going to bring this thing and i'll choose to believe that that's a possibility as long as it is a possibility and when that isn't and they prove themselves to be absolute garbage to to call that out i don't think that that's quite like accurate that we just like hype and then turn i think it's more like we support and then when they're you know you can't support them anymore we don't support them anymore it's exactly the same with eagle to do i know nothing about him i can't hype him because i don't know anything about him um but i'm gonna support him and i want him to do well and i'm i will now go into it going we're in a much better position because you know he's going to come in and hopefully do these things if he's rubbish and he's playing murder ball and he's just terrible manager I'm gonna give my opinion I think I'm the same as everyone else I think on this podcast I just give my honest opinion at the time and occasionally talking about twinings and fingering that's it I think you're full of shit John what was you saying what was you saying Rick oh no I was just saying like um the way I'm feeling about Tottenham and how we're playing relegation zone Frank's been sacked all the stuff about you know Vinay how the club's being run and all that lot the last thing that i want to do is go on listen or read an article to see how bad tudor is uh and like all the negativity around him how he plays and he's this he's that and so i'd rather go in in a positive mindset um and like like john's saying i don't know anything about him but the stuff that i've read i can get on board with the more positive stuff and that's what I'll cling on to.
57:15I mean, not naming any names, but there was someone in the WhatsApp group with, you know, they were being vocal about how they felt about Igor Tudor. Mark. And I wanted to throw my phone down a drain. And I was just like, I don't need this at the moment. Yeah. I need vibes. I need positivity. Absolutely. After three or four games and we are rock bottom somehow Burnley and Wolves have usurped us, then we'll fucking, you know, we'll go me too you don't like in this moment you don't look i don't care like other podcasts will do things the way they want to do them right and then in this moment the last fucking thing i want to do is have a conversation and nitpick the failings of igor tudor who wants to listen to that shit why would you like it's you make a signing conor gallagher come in let's focus on what he does really well get excited about him if it doesn't work it never works out we know it never works out for us it never works out for us we can always assume that things are going to go shit but let just for the bit where we don't have to evidence of the failings with reality just dream a little yeah glass half full always glass half full lads yeah until until until it isn't someone's smashed it on the table in my face yeah it's done a snot shot in it and told me to drink it until that point we'll finish on this john uh from uh why j sing says after what after what's all happened how was john bass not right and flav bateman not wrong about v and i being incompetent and clueless when we're not frank sacking frank till the end and lewis is having to do so and getting Tudor in even though Fabio said to do so while he was here but they didn't listen I don't know that's very complicated you typed that in on the calculator yeah fucking hell mate hold on mate he's done his best to send in the question don't say he just pips his question on the calculator it just follows up the next tweet is just boobs 80085 yeah alright I don't know is he saying we were right both of us were right and simultaneously wrong because bits of what they did was good and bits of what they did was bad and somewhere in the middle is where it landed is that what I'm saying because yeah that's life though isn't it like nothing nothing's completely one way and then the thing is with these particular type of scenarios we have no idea what's happening like with the Vinay conversations with the Lewis family it's just bits of information by journalists So we have no idea if they have, they might've been planning this for months.
1:00:05I have no idea. I'm only basing it on what I see in like a gut feel. But yeah, like I said, I'm definitely giving whoever, I don't know who it is, praise for this little bit, this last few days, this has been handled so far pretty well, I'd say. And let's see, hopefully you can just be a good manager because that's what we need. How is Paratschi, the sporting director of another football club but still doing our deals? It's beyond me as well. There's no chance that he's not involved in this in some way. 100 % okay of course don't blame him if he keeps us up he's done us another solid it's just like that dodgy mate who's actually alright in the pub but he's fucking stabbed a couple of people in his younger days and he still like loves cocaine that's but but you know he drops you home every now and then yeah you always nod like you alright mate every time you see him even though you don't want to talk to him he's a legend he's a legend yeah but when you get to know him actually he's like deeply sad and crumbling inside.

We dive into the chaos at Spurs after the manager sacking and the sudden arrival of Igor Tudor, and try to work out what it actually means for the rest of the season. We talk dressing room culture, player attitudes, interim vs permanent appointments, and whether this is smart damage control or another roll of the dice. There’s debate, optimism, dread, and plenty of nonsense along the way. We also answer listener questions and talk through expectations, survival chances, and what success looks like from here.
