1:29See website for details. It's the fighting.

1:35It's the fighting. Cock! It's the fighting.

1:43It's the fighting. Cock! I remember being a wee little kid. And, you know, you look up to your dad at that stage and whatever he says is gold. It's like Superman, isn't he? I remember him teaching me a song when I was about eight. And it went, He's only a poor little gooner. His face is all tattered and torn. He makes me feel sick. So I'll hit him with a brick. Then he won't cry anymore. What a horrendous thing to teach an eight-year-old boy. It left such an imprint on me that at 44, I can still remember it word for word. I think I might have bundled up a couple of different songs there. uh sean craye how are you yeah not bad mate you all right yeah good and cow how you doing hello sir very good thank you before we started recording we were talking about uh when is it okay to see a willy at work uh assuming you're not a prostitute or a porn star um i think it's never okay really i saw one at work and it definitely wasn't okay it was it was you seen a willy at work sean i did yeah um so i'm a maintenance electrician and basically i worked in this house this woman was bedpan downstairs old girl and there was something going on with her shower and it seemed like basically she had a grandson living with her and he must have had the free reign of upstairs because she couldn't make it and upstairs all you could hear was the shower going and the tunes just blaring out of it so i'm walking up boom boom boom trying to be as loud as i can hello hello and i'm like is there a problem with the bathroom light hello and next thing the bathroom door flings open and this kid comes walking out completely naked no towel nothing just walked out and he just saw me He stood there on the stairs and he just goes, no.

3:46No. Put the hands down instead of over your face. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Weirdly, Carol's also seen a willy at work today. Today, yeah. It involved a shower, didn't it? It did involve a shower, yeah. Where I work, there's a shower in kind of the toilet area and there's lockers and shit like that. And there's a couple of times I might have seen them in their pants or fucking in the, like, I don't know, no shirt or whatever. And it's fine. And I've got fucking four brothers. So you just get used to the fucking male form. Right. And but then today I thought I'm touching cloth here. Like normally I'm touching cloth.

4:27I need to fucking to fucking let one go. And that's for all right. There'll be no one in there now. So I've gone in there, walked in. and there he is absolutely not a stitcher clove on him clothing on him at all fucking willy the lot I'm like this is not okay this is just it's not okay for me to see a willy at work why I think this is more about you says more about you two than it does about the person owning the willy yeah they're just he's they're just as nature intended them to be naked you're the it's your reaction that's the problem boys that is I mean Spurs this is what happens innit we're all loose we don't know what's going on what are the rules anymore what can we say to each other this is the Q &A podcast because obviously Spurs didn't play what a weekend what a weekend what I mean just no football no worry no I mean the angst is there but it was just did you feel that just relaxed all weekend Sean oh yeah I love it for a long time now my favourite part of the year is the summer when you've just got that bit I used to hate it as a kid you know that show like the Premier League years and all that kind of music.

5:37And I used to, you know, you'd watch it, but I hated it. I detested that closed season. But for a good while now, I just enjoy it. And I really switch off. I actually dislike when there's a major tournament in summer because it interrupts with my downtime because it is very needed. I just think, yeah, it is. You've got to recover and recuperate. It's certainly our situation this season. It's going to take a lot of work. We're all going to have to work on ourselves a bit. like and understand what are we doing here we're committing every fiber of our emotional being in the hands of a football club that doesn't even know we exist apart from our crn number players that don't give a fucking shit about us and we're just pleading hands on knees just do something for us tonight just play just for fuck once in this calendar year win a game i think we all need to look at ourselves i think like we're as much as a part of the problem as as the club because we're just, they know we're obsessed and addicted to this fucking club.

6:41Yeah. So it was nice to have the weekend off and I just felt pretty calm about it all. Obviously, tomorrow night we're playing Atleti in Madrid. If you want to become a patron, you can do. We're doing a preview of the game tomorrow. First thing. And yeah, become patreon.com forward slash fightcock. God love you. I need you. I need you so packed. Just before we get into the podcast, a mate of mine, his name is Jordan Connor, and he's actually a Villa fan, but I bumped into him on a night out when I was supposed to have my joint stag and hen do, I know. We're in the 21st century now. Cal, you can do that.

7:26You can have those things. You look at him. He's just shaking his head. Fucking livid, to be honest. Yeah, fair. But if we were basically going to a festival, we'd all sort of just, we'd all go, well, Cal, I'm not explaining myself to you. I can do what I want. You can't, you can't even fucking cheat on your stag dude. Fucking hell. That is true. It is the last, you know, the last chance to do that. Yeah, it's the last bastion of English freedom. I wonder how many men on their stag dude go out there and go, yeah, no, this is actually the last time I can cheat, so I'm going to do this. No, so we, it got, basically there was a massive storm and the Boardmasters Festival was on top of a, cliff and so everyone would have been blown off into the sea so they get to cancel it oh i was booked on that festival it was about 2020 wasn't it yeah around that time yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah we had a yeah we was meant to be performing on that and then that got cancelled that's the only right time i ever bought a tent because i've never been in a tent in my life performing and what what what sean what was you doing it was battling oh battling yeah yeah yeah so so so um because i just assumed you might i didn't know the information that you'd be a part of a band as well and i thought that'd be interesting now he's battling right um so um and i met this lad in an aston villa shirt on the uh it might be 2019 because it's when potch got sacked it was that season and um i just got chatting to him he's just like a lovely geezer from cornwall but or certainly sandy like and anyway he had a villa shirt on and we got got chatting and through the years we stayed in touch anyway he's made of his he plays in um a football team in down in uh penzance he uh he's unfortunately been diagnosed with cancer and there's going to be a link in the description where you can donate if you feel that you have enough spare change to do so um yeah he's uh it's obviously very alarming and sad when a young man is diagnosed with something like lymphatic cancer but it does happen and when it does it's important that people sort of rally around and do what they can to make that person's life a bit easier so just giving link is in the description below um they're having a quiz night down on the 14th of march in i want to say penzance don't want to get this wrong perrenporth completely different place uh but it's also really lovely uh yeah so it's uh it's for the sunrise appeal the royal cornwall hospitals clinical oncology and cancer care appeal and they're looking to raise 750 quid and so far they've done 350 so if anyone can chuck a few pennies in it'll be an amazing amazing thing like i say link in description below right this is a q a podcast which means anything goes any any question as that gets asked us we will answer um someone and i wanted to start with this but now i've i've lost the geezer's question which uh shows you how shit i am at this job um but he wanted to say go quickly through the first sort of first team squad minus youth players who would stay in the advent that we do get relegated.

10:43So if you're thinking about what might happen, like it's just for the sake of a conversation, what players do you think, if we were relegated, would we start in the championship next season? So I'm going to say, you just go Chuck, yes or no. Vacario? He'd probably leave, wouldn't he, you think? Yeah, he'll be gone. Van der Ven? Gone. Probably be gone. Romero? Be gone. Gone. Porro? Gone. Gone. A doggy? He'll probably be injured. Yeah, that'll keep him here. What about Paulina? He's loaning it, so he'll go back. Yeah, he'll go back. Basuma? Contract's up in the summer. Mohamed Kudus? 200 grand a week.

11:38Fucking hell. Gone? Probably gone, yeah. He's on that one. He'd be gone. I mean, he left last hand, didn't he? Charleston? I don't know, you know. He might fancy it. I don't think you'll fancy it. Probably gone then, yeah. Solanke? Right, let's build a team with what would be left from the players that aren't playing in the first team if we have to. Maybe Kinski stays. Yeah. Yeah, he'd be the number one. Vuskiewicz has to. so he's come back he had another sterling performance this weekend for Hamburg he'll have to come back Danso will be his partner I'd imagine we'll have to get Jed Spence will play right back and let's say a doggy stays as a left back midfield Sarr and Gray people will be looking at Gray I think they both have options but But the problem is you can't, you're not going to actually sell more than 10 people, are you?

12:42Yeah. In reality, there'll be an amount that will go and then the others, even if they want to go, they'll be told they have to stay. It ain't going to be 15 out, 15 in or whatever or 10 in. So, yeah, so it will just be circumstantial, but there might be a big enough offer that comes in for Grey where they're like, yeah, that makes sense. I think we can do without him. It wouldn't be the full 50 mil. I'd rather convince him to stay and hopefully sell the football club and build something, not around him like he's the key player now, but you've just seen so much in the last month of him just not...

13:23His mentality and character just cannot be underestimated. If you think of the last two goals we scored, it was an assist across from Richarlison and that great play against Palace. It's the only bit of decent football we've played the entire game. But the ball got played into him. His back was the goal. He had a defender against him. And he turned him and played it in for Solanke. It's like the kid can do everything pretty much. And unfortunately, what we've seen of him and why people have taken, and myself have taken so long to sort of really get on board, is that he's just been played everywhere because of his character, because of his mentality, his adaptability, his utility, his abilities as a utility footballer.

14:03but actually you've got to get him in midfield and you've got to keep him I don't see him like ever being a star I don't see him being like a Gerrard but I see him at the end of his career that he's done like a Milner something like that you know one of those really respectable careers that you look at and go he's a solid guy he's played all across the pitch got loads and loads of games under him I think he'll end up he's from good stock and like it's not just family wise just when you see him he's just strong in all kind of areas really so he's definitely not someone that you want to be selling I'm very happy that we've got him I just think when it comes down to it they're going to have to shift a certain amount and we know they're not brilliant at getting players out and in I just think it'd be a cut and dry one with Grae I think people come in serious I really hope that isn't the case but you might be right I mean your arms you you're pushed to make difficult situations, but he's on low wages, respectively, to the rest of the squad.

15:06I just think it would be easier to find deals for players on massive wages. I know there's apparently a 50 % wage drop that exists in these contracts, which Daniel Levy insisted on being put in. Do you feel any way about that? Because I was thinking, the fact that there was even a relegation clause in there shows that there is, just in the subconscious, an idea that we could go down. or is it simply pragmatism because we saw what happened with Leeds and Rizdale where he didn't put relegation clauses in and that it literally put Leeds back 10 years because of those. Daniel Levy's been running, well, he ran a football club for 20 years.

15:45He's seen it all. He saw Leeds come and go. He saw City in their rise and Chelsea in their rise and he's seen clubs go down, clubs rise. That's just him as a businessman to put things in place like that where we're going to have, you know, kind of a cutting wages when we're, you know, under the worst circumstances. I think there's, with a lot of these players, there's, you know, a conversation to be had with, like Sean said, we're not going to sell 20 players. We're not. We're just not like it's too much of a turnaround of a squad. And, you know, rumours today are that Potch is going to come in regardless.

16:23If we get a coach of his level, if it's not him, but a very good coach like that and get a good director of football. I think there's a conversation to be had with these players, you know, 10, 15 of these players, is you're staying for a year. You're getting this back up. You're getting 100 points and we're going back up again. You've got us into this mess. You're getting us back out of it again, basically. Centurions!

16:48We need... If Potch comes back, even if we go down, and that goes a long way to making you feel better about football. I put it in the group earlier and T was like, I just need a clean break. If they bring Potts back, I'm suddenly like, now I'm believing again. I'm believing that something special could happen. And if that is true, and it came from Paul O 'Keefe, I think on Twitter, who seems to get a lot of information. and he he said that it definitely was this because i was told this secondhand so forgive me if i'm wrong here but i think it was paul okay if you said that um that if we do get relegated pochettino still wants to take over spurs if that is true i don't think that that means he feels about the football club like as much as a manager can as close to how we feel about the football club because we're going down with them it's not even our fault but we're going down with them Pochettino doesn't have to do that he can he could get a job anywhere if he has a d if if if USA gets the knockouts of the world cup and they probably will because home nation always tends to do quite well then his stock is for the roof he can go wherever he wants but if that if if Pochettino comes back even if it isn't a championship you're starting to kind of think about the future and believe it I don't I just think if he comes in when we're down in that low or let's say if we're down in that lowly sort of position it gives him strong a strong strong way of negotiating his way in if he looks like he's giving us a big favor rather than the other way around he can kind of maybe maybe wangle a bit more um a bit more say if he wants to come in and go look there is a it's very rare that there's going to be an opportunity to really ship out loads and loads.

18:42We know when he first came in, he identified who he wanted to ship out, who he trusted. Now he's got this situation where he can ship loads out and he can look and he can basically design a squad that should be able to get up. And then you're in a situation where if he doesn't have director of football dealing with everything and he's got a little bit more power, he could find himself in quite a nice position in the Premier League where he's got his own side, he's got his say. And yeah, but you don't know. Without talking to him and knowing exactly what he's thinking is, you're filling in the gaps.

19:25But it does make sense. Yeah, and what most of us are going by is the fact that he's in these interviews. He's given two really big interviews this year. and Spurs, given the fact that he hasn't managed us for six years and has gone on to the PSG and the USA job and Chelsea in the middle of all that, the fact that when he does these big interviews with High Performance Podcast, and there was also one for BBC, I think, and both those times Spurs came up and it was his, he was asked a question and it was him bringing Tottenham up. Like, who's the club closest to your heart? Tottenham what do you want to do what if you could achieve anything in your career win the Premier League and Champions League with Tottenham like that it's so rare it's so rare like you listen to like Gareth Bale on the overlap and yeah we all love Gareth Bale and he definitely has a soft spot in his heart for us but yeah it ain't that soft you know all of his yeah which is nothing I watched him when he was in the Icons in the golf a few weeks ago and it was like, you know, what team do you support?

20:40And he sort of laughed and he goes Wales. And then he kind of sort of said, he was then hinting at Cardiff. And so it ain't like, and it's being honest, but certain players over the years, you know, if you look at like Michael Dawson, for example, as pinned to Tottenham, like if you talk to him, who do you support? That's his side. You don't get that with Harry Kane so much. I mean, he does it. He says, Harry Kane says it sometimes, but I feel like it's a little bit staged. I've almost caught it at times where he'll hint it, but I'm like, you seem like you're lining something up in the future.

21:21Like you want a role at the club or something. It doesn't seem pure when he says it, because when he left, I didn't feel it. And then it's come back around. It's almost as if someone's got into his ear and said, like, there's a career after football. You've got the likes of Gary Neville, who's your Man United rep. You've got Carragher. It might be nice for you to kind of line it up, you know, pin your colours to Tottenham sort of thing. And I just don't believe it with Harry, like, so much. So when you hear in Potch the way he talks, it's just honest. I totally believe it. he's the man that wanted him back for years now and it's time.

22:03It's been time, but this one, this makes sense. I've got a question here from Burra N17. He says, am I alone in the idea that feeling something is better than feeling numb and nothing at all? All of the bottom of the table fixtures are fascinating now and I'm genuinely excited about watching Spurs again because every match feels like a cup final. I also think that despite our dire form and current points total, I don't actually feel like we're going down and the media is overblowing this for clicks and listens. Romero's back soon and pulling us up from the depths of a possible relegation might be his last trick in Lily White.

22:41In terms of a question, which member of the fighting cock and which current Spurs player consumes the most filthy pornography? You had such a good question, Burr. You could have ended it with a decent question, like a good human being. is this us is this what we've done yes yeah it is isn't it okay yeah right let me finish consumes the most filthy pornography and conversely who's watching the most wholesome stuff cheers i mean from the outside perspective sean i think you're probably best place to answer this who do you think listening is the most cd um alex from bristol oh 100 yeah i would say so yeah Carrie, you're shaking red.

24:55no absolutely felonious massive giant broads just doing giant broads doing unquestionable things to men yeah it is as far as you know about niche interests as your mates i was a little bit taken aback by his niche interests but it's not filthy is it it's pretty wholesome if anything there's a zero penetration yeah yeah it's just lifting just lifting yeah heavy lifting yeah just getting carried around by a woman. You can actually get sucked off by a woman while she's carrying her around. While being carried.

25:30I love it. I never knew that that was a niche. I didn't know that thing existed. Sorry, Sean, what were you going to say? Well, yeah, I'd go with Alex from what I know. I just imagine that just the sheer amount that he watches, he's going to cover all bases. He's open with it. He's open with it as well. I think realistically it's anyone who has close to a drug habit is definitely dabbling in some uncertain stuff who's watching the most wholesome stuff Ricky is and I know this because he uses his mind yeah he's one of the only men I know that doesn't need a visual stimuli stimulus I don't know which one's the correct one but when he's knocking one out he can just use the power of his brain

26:21that's a guy who's got not much else going on spurs his mind six foot two six foot two black eye six foot two black eye does Levy deserve more credit than he got considering how catastrophic this season has been boys

26:50yes um yeah he does yeah in answer to the question i think he he he deserves a bit of credit because he's a lot better than the mob that's left behind and he wouldn't have seen us go down because it would have got around december times those alarm bells would have been would have been going in his head that trigger finger would be like itching on him and And Frank would have got the bullet in early January. And someone would have come in and it wouldn't have been Igor Tudor. It would have been a relegation specialist. And they would have come in and he would have spent a bit of money in January with the eye to staying in the league.

27:35And he would have acted earlier. And I just don't think this idea of just gambling in the way that they have, of, no, no, no, we'll stay in, and in the long term, we'll save a little bit of money here. We won't have the problem of having to shift a few bods on. Levy would have got us through this situation. That said, he don't deserve that much credit, and he still, he 110 % deserved the sack. So I'm not saying that. Sorry, Sean. But in comparison to what we've got here, who aren't football people. Yeah. They're the offspring of a billionaire who are trying to run a football club. They shouldn't be making footballing decisions.

28:25Daniel Levy, yeah. So he deserves the credit in that he's better than this lot, but he definitely needed a sack. Yeah, it's his decision-making that led us to this position. But I was really concerned by the reports, and they may not be true, that Dan Bulcher, I think his name is Dan or David Bulcher, I can't remember. He's the son-in-law to Vivian Lewis. And it was him that said that Frank had to be sacked. Now he was right, but you don't want him making footballing decisions. It's got to be Venkatesham. It's got to be Lange. Even if they're not good enough, it has to be them. That's their job.

29:03Because he doesn't have enough experience in football to make the right decision and have all the information. It's like us doing it. it's like the fans are calling for everybody's head every two minutes. It's them making the decision. But we're allowed to do this. We're allowed to say what we want about our football club and decisions that we made because we don't make the decisions because there are zero consequences from what we're saying. There is massive consequences for what the Lewis family are saying if they're not understanding of the game. And the problem is, and no doubt they all support Spurs and they're big Spurs fans.

29:36Of course, they're going to be. the vested interest in the benefit in the growing of the football club but it might lead them to a point where they think they could actually do the job they could run the football club in a way or make footballing decisions for the betterment of the club I think I could until the moment I walked into a football club and understand ramifications of my of my decisions and at that point i'll realize i'm out of my depth there are i would say 10 of the people listen to this podcast feel like they would do a better job than daniel levy they're out of their mind it's it's so difficult to run a football club you can still criticize him for doing the wrong things my point here is is if people if members of the lewis family are making footballing decisions that is a recipe for disaster.

30:27Yeah. And I also think, Cal, that maybe it was Daniel Levy's decisions over many seasons that have led us to this position because he employed Langer. Yes. At least Langer. I was about to say that, yeah. Go on. Yeah, there's just been just one, just, yeah, this has been coming, hasn't it? It feels like that maybe the club needs like something like this, like a hard fucking reset. Now relegation would be an absolute fucking disaster. let's not get it twisted it'd be a fucking disaster um but yeah like you said he he hired Langer he he hired an ex-Arsenal guy in Venkateshen and at the time I think I think even I downplayed you know him him belonging to you know him working for Arsenal for that for that time wasn't a big deal but I think in hindsight it was a big deal I think I think for a while now we've kind of forgotten who we are and lacked a bit of fucking self-respect, to be honest.

31:23And we need to start having a bit of fucking self-respect again. But what I will, and I've said it a few times about Daniel Levy, he was a businessman running a football club, but he'd been doing it for 20 years and done an okay job at it. He's far more qualified than this lot that are in charge now. They're completely, none of them know what they're doing at all. And to get to December and not think, let's sack Frank now before the January transfer window. Let's get a new coaching before the window and then get to the end of that window and to have not signed a central midfielder and a left back and two or three more players to just ensure that we stay up.

32:05It's just, it's criminal. It's criminal how they've been running the football club this lot. They just, they don't know what they're doing. So to answer the question, yeah, I think Levy, no I don't think he does deserve more credit I think he gets the right amount of credit I think he gets credit for running the club in a stable fashion and to be fair to him he could turn around and say well when I left you had Champions League football and a trophy in the cabinet but yeah I think you're right Flav I think some of his decisions have led us to this and hiring Johan Langer and Thomas Frank were two of them and keeping the wage to ratio limit down in the way that he has is really hamstrung.

32:45That squad is nowhere near the level of clubs that we consider to be our rivals or peers or whatever it might be. I think I found your old account, Sean. Yeah. On Reddit. Yeah, it's just a geezer called Krasis but spelt like your surname or your... No, that's not me. But it might be. I don't know. You tell me whether it is you after I read the question in case you might have done it when you're drunk or something. Will you ever acknowledge the real price of tickets has actually decreased over the past decade when accounting for either inflation or UK median wage growth. Does that sound like you?

33:20No.

33:25Sorry. Many supporters of the club are completely misled on this fact because podcasters like you who whip them up in a frenzy and don't contextualize anything. Firstly, fuck you. Secondly, we're not going to contextualize. contextualize contextualize the economies when ranting about our football club he has a point in that if they stay the same and inflation goes up in effect the ticket becomes cheaper but it doesn't account for the fact that people have less money and their money is worthless so while you're right and on an economic level you're correct it has in real terms gone down people don't have more money so for in real terms it's still more expensive than they can afford i don't know why you like of all the questions right now of everything that's fucking going on at our football club why this is the point you wanted to make weird he did say love the pod at the end so he gets a buy but i've never really been a reddit guy but like there was one of my favorite rhymes that i ever heard in a battle in a battle was uh you got the sense of humor of a reddit user and it's just like i've always thought that that probably is applicable and anytime i ever hear a reddit comment read out it always it's always the same well can i just say thank you to our coiz reddit who allows one us as one of the few podcasts that actually can post on coiz so uh sean i appreciate your comments i appreciate your sentiment i really do but uh i don't agree with it and i think reddit and everybody there are great shut your fucking mouth

35:12actually let's go move on from reddit if you want to go it's forward slash quiz let's go to my instagram where people have messaged in and we've got a question here from ali kirk says am i the only one who's doing random things around the house thinking that it will somehow fix us i've been doing things like rearranging pillows in different fashion using coffee cups that have been neglected the other day i even stood staring at the dishwasher like an absolute psycho for it to finish its cycle cycle thinking my newfound proficiency would somehow kick this scrotum of a football club into gear when i'm watching when i'm watching spurs play i'll often if we're not playing well i'll switch seats have you ever done that do you ever feel like there's some sort of cosmic being looking at where you're sitting while you're watching yeah like if i'm if i'm sat there watching the game and win one nil up but i'm really hot i won't take my jumper off i'll keep my jumper on i'm like this could be the me being dressed this way is the reason we're winning or if i need a piss i'm not gonna piss this is lucky piss i've got to keep it in for as long as i can i'm like yeah i get that completely it's weird but i get it yeah any uh weird traits you have watching spurs not saying not since i was a kid like when when i When I was a kid, I remember back, it was actually the other day when we lost that Palace game.

36:40And I was genuinely sad, right? I've gone to bed. I'm not saying I was the only one. And people all look back to the poch sort of times and all that. I actually was looking way, way back before that. And I'm thinking back to mid-90s Tottenham when I was a kid. And I absolutely adored the club. just lived and breathed it and i remember and i'm thinking like it's so sad that that top them has been like ripped away from me and it's like a lot of that is growing up and you're not the same as when you're a kid but a lot of it is these these owners and we and we do seem to have like lots of the clubs went through a lot of these things that were like but we were you know we we we changed stadium we had covid you got var all these like things that kind of chipped away like one after the other after the other and you find yourself in this hollow kind of space but what i was kind of thinking back to was like as i say when i was a kid i remember listening to um top them away i think it was charlton in the fa cup and i was listening to it in the radio and I'm in my room and we needed an equaliser.

37:59And I was like, please, please. And I had a Tottenham bedspread. And I remember on my hands and knees, elbows on the bed, looking at this Tottenham duvet and genuinely praying to God that we would equalise. And I think we did. We did. I think it was like, as I say, and you've, it was, it was back then. It was, it was something so quite sweet about it. But these days I'm just, I'm, I'm the least like, I don't really look into any kind of like magical things like that now. Now it's like, I either think it's going to happen or it don't. I'm a boring, boring bastard in that. No, I mean, there's no such thing as fake magic or special pants.

38:50It's all bullshit, right? But if you're a player and something happens where you have to wear a certain sort of boot or a certain shin pad or whatever it might be, you get some comfortable for playing. But I remember back in the 90s, it may have been early 90s. When did Peter Shrees manage Spurs? It was before my time. 89. How old are you, Sean? I'm 39. Yeah, you would have been, because I was little when, anyway, so my dad used to drive, he was a plumber, that was what he did for 45 years of his career. And he'd drive us to Spurs, me and my brothers, and we'd sit in the front and whoever lost the sort of, you know, we'd do like rock, paper, scissors and someone would have to sit in the back with his tools.

39:36Let me just explain what that meant. It wasn't just sit in the back, there's a nice seat for you. It was a transit van full of hard metal things that we used for plumbing. And you used to have to find a spot in the back of this van with fucking copper pipes and bolts everywhere to sit on. So whoever went in there wouldn't have enjoyed this lovely moment with my dad. And it was only one of three brothers that could, you know, would have been left in the back. But I remember driving back from Tottenham, we'd won, and we'd go, Peter Shreveys is blue. Army, PSG's Blue Army. And it just felt at that time that regardless of whatever happened, Spurs and my family were always going to be intrinsically linked and everything was going to be alright.

40:21As you get older, it all just disappears. And then you're suddenly just waiting for millionaire footballers to make you happy again. Whereas back then, I don't even remember who played for us. It's a shame. It's a shame. It's that pureness at the start. It don't matter that you're rubbish. And it's kind of like, you're just satisfied. But it's almost like, I think every club's kind of had it, but it's the fact that we also, when I'm saying about those things that chipped away one after the other, but it was also after us seeing the best Tottenham side for a couple of years. And you kind of think, you're just going to climb that ladder, climb that ladder.

41:05You hit the peak. You didn't bag up when you were there. and then it just went bish, bash, bosh, and then you've come out of it. Somehow we won a Europa League because I don't know how. Like with that side that we had last season, thank God we did. But, you know, I still can't believe that we've actually got that in the trophy cabinet. But really everything's just, it's just oblivion now. It's tax season, and at LifeLock we know you're tired of numbers. 43:06And I remember the first time I thought about other football clubs and how it impacted, how I felt about Spurs. And I remember it would have been in November 1995, Tottenham played Arsenal. And this is a sort of really kind of an Arsenal in a bad spot. Bruce Riok was their manager or at least was the manager before this point and Bergkamp scored for them and Sheridan and Armstrong scored for Spurs we beat them 2-1 and I remember coming away from it feeling not elation but relief that we'd beaten them and that we don't have to play them for another six months that kind of like suddenly realising that it ain't just about whether your team win or lose but actually everything else around you manipulates how you feel about your club is a horrible existential realisation.

44:04It really is. Let's move on to Van de Venk because I've noticed a fair amount of heat ramping up around him. Have you noticed that? Yeah, yeah. Well, obviously, Ricky was talking about him last week and it was hard to kind of disagree with anything he said. He nailed his rant, didn't he? He did. He did nail it. And, yeah, It feels like it's been kind of coming for a little while.

44:33He's come to Tottenham. He's come to this big club. He's not on the highest wages, to be fair to him. I think he's on 40 grand a week. But he's had that huge moment in the Europa League final. Injuries have been a huge problem for him and our lack of a coherent medical team and backroom staff has probably not helped him in that regard. But just his body language and his overall, his attitude and how he's played for us. In a season where Thomas Frank has given him the armband, made him the vice captain in essence, hasn't he? Because whenever Romero's not played, Van der Ben's been the captain. And it's been really disappointing.

45:17These two players are probably our best two players overall. have both Romero just a complete lack of fucking discipline. But Van Der Vencent has been petulant and just not played well. And that's our captain. That's our leader. It's fair to say with Romero that he went into that challenge not caring whether or not he was sent off. I looked at his reaction. It was so strange. I know it's weird talking about this, you know, four or five weeks on from the fact. But I just think about like his reaction afterwards. He wasn't furious. He wasn't remonstrating with a ref. He was like, I know that was a red.

46:00I knew what I was doing. I'm going to check because of that fact, whether or not, I can't remember who he even tackled. It was Casemiro. Yeah. Which I do actually think as part of it, as to why he did it. The Argentine Brazil thing. It's pathetic. Yeah. But I just think, I think when he went in like that, it was like, there was so much frustration of the fact that he had to chase that ball. It was a second ball. And then he went for him and then his reaction wasn't like, I can't believe what I've done. It was just an acceptance of the fact and without a realization of what he'd actually done to us.

46:38Not personally, but, you know, in terms of our plight in the Premier League, I'm really frustrated with him in a big way. And how many times over the years have you seen players come out after a game after they've been sent off and said do you know what i apologize to the i apologize to my teammates how many times we've seen that over the years different players from different football clubs come out and own it and again this is a guy that's that's played with lino messi like and plays for an elite football team in argentina like the best you know and so those guys it's about attitude and doing everything for the shirt and he's been pretty much radio silence ever since, hasn't he?

47:14He got sent off and he sat there on the sidelines and watched us lose game after game. Really interesting as well that you don't see any of the players on social media at the minute. They've all gone radio silent as well after losing game after game. Not one of them says anything afterwards. I think they're getting, you know, a lot of the iron, a lot of the kind of anger has gone on the board and Thomas Frank took it for a while. but these players, they've lost 22 games last season. They've lost, I don't know how many they've lost now in the league on its own. They don't get anywhere enough grief, to be honest.

47:51I think they're a fucking disgrace. The attitude and just the lack of effort from a lot of these players. And do you know what? We said earlier on, Sean was saying earlier on, we're not going to sell 25. I'd fucking sell them all. There isn't any of them that I'd want to keep because there isn't any of them that actually don't really, they don't give a shit. None of them care. We talk about Pochettino and how much he cares about a football club. What of our players could you point to and go, that guy gets it? It's tough, isn't it? It's tough to look at a player and go, that guy will give you a shift.

48:25It's Archie Gray, isn't it? Which is probably why we should be doing absolutely everything to keep him because he's got the right attitude. The rest of them haven't. The rest of them are disgrace. And it's why we're in the position they're in because of their attitude, to be honest, as much as anything else. Sean, do you think that Van der Ven's and Romero's attitude on the pitch matches up? There seems to be some sort of symbiosis between them two. Yeah, they've definitely sort of joined forces at some stage. But, I mean, if you went back six months ago when you would have seen, well, let's say four months ago, when you would have seen them kind of acting up and looked like they'd got the ump and whatever.

49:09That would have married up with when myself as a fan had become very apathetic and a lot of people were towards the club because it's such a mess. And I reckon if you're inside the club, I reckon it's way more of a mess than we even think it is. I reckon there are really, really ridiculous things going on on a day-to-day basis where the players look at each other and go, where the hell are we? this is an absolute circus and I reckon they kind of checked out back then and I think a lot of the fan base kind of checked out back then but you know what the fan base have done in the last couple of months is check back in because it's got serious and it doesn't matter who said what in the past who thinks what in the past we're now in this situation where like this is really really serious and any of the chat can come in the summer.

50:06But right now you've got to knuckle down and you've got to get some points from somewhere. And what we've noticed is that most of these players haven't checked back in in that way. You know, I'm looking at it and I'm thinking, people are talking about Chelsea putting us down. I'm thinking we might not even get that far. I think at this moment in time, we're going to roll over and get our tummies tickled by everyone that we play. I see us almost not picking up another point because of the way that we're playing. There's no guts. They're absolutely they've all checked out. And you look at it, you look at the actual fixtures that we've got and you look at what we need to actually stay up.

50:47It ain't impossible. It's actually not that many points. You're probably talking nine points keeps us up. But I reckon we're going to be about five or six points short of that. And it is because of the likes of Van der Ven not checking back in, Romero not checking back in, and all the rest of them, they're just walking around. They don't give a damn. That was the thing that hurt most about that Palace one, was the attitude on the faces of the players. Didn't give a toss. It should have been the biggest game of their season. And they played like they didn't care. and is it on is that on like like Tudor for not being able to get that out of them like if Redknapp was there would he have been able to get some a different attitude out I feel like I've heard stuff that where people have you know the players are not reacting well to Tudor at all he's like diametrically opposed to what Frank was doing this season so the players feel like we've been moved from this place from this man to another man who's telling us to do all kinds of different things and Tudor doesn't actually give a shit because he's here on a short-term contract.

51:56And if we don't get out of this, if he doesn't achieve what he's supposed to achieve, then he can just say that's Basket Case Football Club as all the managers seem to do when they leave Spurs. I just... I don't think they give a damn. Or they definitely don't look like they give a damn. Yeah. Because the thing is, Tottenham being this banter club that they've sort of really stepped into in the last few years, where if you want to go walk down the street with a top them shirt on you've got to have a little bit about you because you're gonna get grief or for people you ain't even met before of and you you're just a joke you know i feel bad about me cut me me son going out and wearing a top them shirt because i'm like you're gonna get grief off of the country because we've become the whipping boys of the country in terms of the fan base you know you go to the darts and it's all like top them get battered and all this kind of stuff, I'm off feeling like the players have bought into that.

52:57I feel like they've kind of checked out to the degree where, you know, when you saw the clip the other day of Smith-Rowe, Iwobi, Sessegnon on the bus and it's like, because you kind of think, oh no, they're professional footballers, their career is paramount and all the rest of it, but they're all like representing Arsenal and they're giving grief to Sessegnon because Tottenham have lost to Arsenal. You wouldn't have thought they'd have given that much of a damn as they clearly did. All these players talk to each other and I just feel like they just want out of it. I just think they're, I think they've realised that the job is so hard and they're getting pelters from everybody.

53:38All of them are looking to their agents and they're going. And I almost feel like they don't care if we go down and they might, because of the fact that they're so pissed off with a club, they might even think it's half funny. And that sounds ridiculous, but that's what I see with these players. Because it ain't that they're the absolute, they ain't good. But it's not that they're the absolute worst squatters players in the league, I don't think. They just don't seem to care. Yeah, and that's why the idea of Pochettino coming back and instilling the culture, his culture, in a football club is so appealing.

54:14because Conte, Mourinho, they took over from a squad that was depleted from the Pochettino era, but was certainly, you know, the fact that how they behaved and how they managed and how they felt like they could impact things was inhindered by Daniel Levy and the owners. And it might have been true, but we never felt that under Pochettino. We never felt that. And because I felt like he took responsibility he was like and what you were saying earlier sean really thought resonated is that if he comes in when we're at our lowest ebb and does well even if he just comes in he's credit in the bank there he's through the roof of the fans and if he does well it should be through through the roof of the owners and so that's why more than worrying about who will be here next season wherever any of these wankers actually give a shit about the football club that pay them a hundred hundreds of thousand a week I know that's a moot point really because they all get paid 100 ,000 pounds a week but yeah you need someone strong principled and with the right incentives less incentives actually the right drive to turn the football club around Pochettino fuck knows why probably for all the reasons why we love Spurs he loves Spurs he wants to come back to get him back in and we'll go some way to solving um what what is the problem at our football club and hopefully someone comes in and buys the lewis family out and we can all just fucking get on with our lives the problem that two doors got is that when a lot of these managers that come in and they turn things around when it's a bit of a rotten squad they rip the heart out of the team and then they they put ones in that they trust we haven't got that opportunity because if you're in a situation where you're going to walk in and you go we've got five or six bad apples you can't rip them out because i heard john bass the other day was saying about playing like byfield and whatever and it's like there might be one or two that you might trust to come in but can you really rip them all out and play the kids that's the kind of thing you hear the bloke behind you at the football shouts like and it might be better.

56:36It's gotten to the stage where I'm sort of thinking it might actually be better if it happened, but it probably wouldn't. You have a summer and you've got a chance to rip them out and replace them with people. And it can turn around really quickly. You just hope that we stay up by the skin of our teeth and Poch gets that opportunity in the summer to do it still in the league because going down that hard reset, I do get people's points when they say it. And you look at people like Villa, Newcastle and whatever, they're doing all right now. They've been through it. I could see a world where you come out of it and you're sort of okay.

57:18But that stain of, you know, of being a club, and I know it's being precious, but being a club that's ever present in that Premier League, none of us in our lifetime has seen Tottenham go down that stays with you forever like you want to you you want to ever like our side could get to a stage where we're finishing second third challenging for titles in 10 years that will never leave you you know you started getting into that conversation of like our big club this big club that the the big clubs don't go down mate and that's just the simple fact of it. They just don't go down. We won't see Arsenal go down, Man United go down.

58:05If you go down, that stays with you forever. And it did happen in times gone by, but it was a different set up there. It was a situation where teams did go up and down all the time. That don't happen now. Stage of young. 100%. Like seeing a penis at work. it never goes never goes you know every time you blink there it is just flapping around I remember this geezer called George a Greek guy I used to go gym with when I was in like late 20s and he would just insist on getting completely naked in the gym I don't know if he like fancied me and he wanted to excuse me I don't know what it was he never made any advances he had to be his cock you've ever seen nice what was it last summer no it might have been the summer before I played in a charity football match and it was north versus south and it was so funny the divide when it came down to the dressing rooms because the northern team were just all naked the southern team were all showering with their boxers on I don't know which is worse I don't know I think the free willy thing I think that's fine I think that's fine well we are a little bit we are a little bit in the south okay this has been the fighting god podcast thank you very much Sean how do we find you on social media Sean underscore Cray wherever you can get him yeah all over and how's sort of disappeared that's weird it's crazy it's got so dark in here in this room not in our house in your in your house it's got really dark it's got really dark like I've got my phone torch on if I was to do that he can't see me anymore he can't he literally cannot see he can't see me at all I've just put my phone torch on so he can see me alright okay well hopefully it doesn't get darker in your house after this we'll see I haven't had my beer so everything will be fine you have your beer yeah it'll be fine we've just done a podcast for our other podcast The Lab where we have detailed how Tottenham Hotspur are going to stay up this season just quickly I just want to I want to know how you feel boys did you do that light or was that the missus yeah good now I can see um are spurs staying up Sean you can give give an explanation as well if you feel like we are or we're not no we're not I think I think we need I think we need at least nine points and I look at those fixtures and I don't think we get more than four and that really really really pains me to say it but of course it does Cal where are you at?

1:00:47nah sadly I agree we're the worst team in the league. We are the worst. You look at Forest and Forest has just got to draw against City away. West Ham have looked, since they beat us, looked like a different team. We are awful. Wolves have turned it around. Burnley will get a result here and there. We're doing nothing. And do you know what? That's why I kind of... West Ham and Forest are as well. Yeah, they're all doing something. And there's, you know, we've... I think when you guys said the other day, Ricky said it the other day, Tudor's come in and it's exactly the same. like nothing's changed like it's like Thomas Frank is still there we're probably worse because now the players just look really confused because he's just he's overcomplicating it just play like we said we spoke about this on five statements after the I think it was the Fulham game but square pegs and square holes man play people where they're supposed to play build some confidence up and try and win some football matches but they're all they all look just confused and yeah he's just come in and overcomplicating it and that's why it sounds ridiculous but just fucking get ryan mason in now get some people in that actually give a shit that actually give a shit about tottenham because what what how about then sean if if we got brought in redknapp not that he's i know he's concentrating on his horses at cheltenham and i've heard him yeah you know he's got he's got a horse in the gold cup and he I think he has.

1:02:12If I said to you, Tudor or Redknapp-Defoe-Mason end of season, which would you choose? Yeah, the Redknapp-Defoe-Mason, 100%. If they were brought in, would you feel more comfortable about us staying up? Yeah, I'd take Sean Dyche, even off the back of his shocking time at Forest. this this guy this lump that we've got in in charge of us get him out now because it's i'd say i'd take dice it's serious and we need a reaction it's like it seems it seems ridiculous i you know roll the dice and then roll the dice again that's exactly what we've got to do roll it again because this guy's not not going to make a dent in the direction we're going in I don't think much helps us there ain't magician out there who's going to really turn it around instantly or anything like that but you could get a little bit of a reaction you get he's got to be changed for someone just roll that dice again and then if they're wrong you can roll it again I don't give a damn I'm not too proud if the truth is that Pochettino is going to come in regardless you roll the dice now 100 % and you probably roll the dice anyway You do, because there's no reaction.

1:03:34What were you expecting from Trudor was him to come in and for something to happen, and they probably look worse. Actually, we look worse, I think, if I'm honest. We look like a worse team than when Thomas Frank was there. The football is exactly the same, but we look worse. We're just rolling over and losing. It's only one thing I've seen worse than Spurs this season, and that was your mum's face last night. God, is that too much? I felt too much as I came out. It's fine. Is it a pint? I don't care. Can I apologise, Cal? Never. You should never apologise. But yeah, it's fine. All right. Nice one.

1:04:08Cheers, boys. It's a pint.

1:04:14It's a pint. Cock. It's a pint.

With no game to ruin the weekend, we opened the floor for a full Q&A and it went exactly where you would expect: strange work stories, irrational Spurs superstitions, ticket price arguments, and a proper look at what relegation would mean for this squad. We talk about who stays, who goes, why so many of these players look checked out, whether Tudor has any chance of turning it around, and why the thought of Pochettino still gives us something to cling to.
