In short

Tottenham’s 2-0 win at Aston Villa Park in a relegation dogfight, and what it says about new manager De Zerbi’s impact, plus debate over “Villa throwing it,” media narratives, and the club’s relegation outlook.

Guests (backgrounds)

The episode is a fan/pundit-style discussion with four regulars: Rick, Flav (Flav underscore Bateman mentioned), Jack, and “Tee/Gal” (referred to in conversation). They speak as Tottenham supporters who watched the match live and discuss tactics, squad mentality, and Premier League politics.

Key claims

  • Spurs were dominant for 60-70 minutes: aggressive high pressing, winning the ball high, and creating chances.
  • De Zerbi has “calmed” a “bin fire” squad by keeping tactics basic (three attacking/three defensive changes) and boosting confidence.
  • Villa fans/media narratives about “integrity” and a weakened side are overstated; Spurs’ press choked Villa.
  • Spurs’ away fans were “incessant,” and Spurs’ identity (“funny things to people”) fuels hatred.

Notable examples

  • Goals: Richarlison (Gallagher assist mentioned) and another early second-half/first-half chance sequence; Kolo/“Richarlison curls in” described.
  • Stats: Villa had extremely poor first-half output (no/near-no shots on target) and Spurs were high in opponent-half ball losses/pressing metrics.
  • De Zerbi’s “arm around” Moani/“every day” anecdote; Gallagher’s post-match comments likened his role to “having 12 players on the pitch.”

42cock a camel you fucking pig yeah twice I've seen you you've been hung over you need to buck your ideas up now don't you need to celebrate celebrate Tottenham when you don't Do you know what it was, Rick? It was in a bit celebrating Tottenham. Well, what it was was that we had loads of people over, just driven back from a wedding. So we had two days on it, a wedding. Drove home and then we had loads of Ollie's mates come around. Yeah. With babies and that. Oh. And I, we was, you know, it was drinking, but when we won I did five statements Patreon pod straight after and then it was about drinking yeah and then it might have been about something else not but kids around kids have gone to bed by the way who were you doing that with don't worry about that too many questions what do you mean were you the police well I just feel like Jess was around some other pods don't worry about it okay right so I She doesn't get untackled Does she?

55No Well that's I mean we're recording So like don't You know Oh fucking hell I didn't know we recorded You've got to tell me these things You can't fucking You can't fucking tackle around Like fucking willy nilly Tens of thousands of people Listen to this Fucking you can't Yeah you can't just go Right I'm recording now By the way Tottenham away Ole ole Tottenham away Ole ole Tottenham away

25you think we didn't see that you little kids oh man rick how good was it how good was it so good where tell me through where where was you at uh i was at home front room uh as i always am probably about five inches away from the tv standing up can of beer and and pacing yeah yeah loads of pacing people keep coming in to look at the TV just to check out what the score is and I'm like mate just fucking get out of my face now this is my family my wife, my kids stay out of the front room you know this is a no fly zone so let's just move it on this is basically like Iran yeah yeah yeah don't fly over it don't fly over it your front room is the Straits of Hamus yes yeah yeah yeah pretty much Yeah, I thought mine was, but it wasn't.

22It was the lots of people kept joining the room, looking, because everyone's fascinated by Tottenham. Yeah. There were people there yesterday that don't know anything about football, but knew Tottenham were involved in a relegation dogfight. Oh, God. I can only imagine how your day was. Yeah, and they knew. Someone was offering me Xanax because I was very anxious before the game. Right, okay. And I was like, no, no, it's fine, it's fine. It'll be fine. I'm fine. If everyone just leaves me a bit, I'll be fine. So, Flav, how does this relegation work? Are you in the zone? How many points do you have to do to get – mate, please, just – Please, please.

59Can we do this later? Yeah. So, we got to the final five minutes of the game. And bless him. Like, he's a legend, this lad called Tom, right? Yeah. But he was like – he was asking me how many – what's the capacity of Villa Park? Right, okay. 94 minutes. Yeah. Not now, Tom. Tom, not now. I actually put my hand on his leg and went, Tom, we can talk about this. Yeah. Until the cows come home after the final whistle. He's like, oh, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. And then Villager scored and you were like, Tom, let's not do this. Well, actually, actually, I was at the door. I didn't even know it was 2-1.

35Oh, really? Yeah, because I was in the car driving to the office to record the five statements. Oh. So it was only when I turned the radio on to listen to everyone's celebration. it was like it's 2-1 but it does it doesn't do anything to to taper the excitement but what i'm saying during the game um about 10 minutes in obviously really nervous but spurs playing well on the ascendancy i was handed a baby i fed the baby milk from my tit no i don't know why i say that uh i fed from a bottle right yeah and it drank loads of it and i said and then i wonder if you'll go to sleep and and these uh he's my mini that doesn't go to sleep on anybody doesn't go I sleep on anybody only me he's like a limb pit baby right okay so I sat down on the sofa I was watching it and I had him on there straight to sleep weren't he good yeah yeah straight to sleep nice nice I look up go look up and put some fondle up and I'm like yeah like I was literally just going we scored we scored we scored not want to wake this fucking baby up right not fucking baby sorry this lovely baby didn't want to wake him up and I was like that's good that's good that's good that's good let's like calm the nerves fucking Kolo Marni curls one in it was good or was it tell it was whiny what for for the Richie tell yeah curls it in off the nut Daniel and there's a picture on my Instagram Flav underscore Bateman get them numbers up because I need to monetise that there's a I put stories on my video of me celebrating the Gallagher goal the Richarlison goal it's me just as if you would bounce the baby but a little bit quicker and I just kept going it's going to be okay it's going to be okay it's going to be okay oh mate not one point did you just like throw the baby up in the air of course my instinct was to throw it at the TV in celebration as fast as I could at the TV it's like we get into the TV into Villa Park mate we so badly needed that and like I don't know you tell me you tell me how did you what did you feel when you were watching the game Ricky well what I felt was that yeah sure we badly needed that we need the three points we need to not get relegated okay but the performance v wolves in comparison to the performance against villa at villa villa riding high we were just i thought it was a fantastic performance i like the first like 60 to 70 minutes, we were aggressive, pressing high, winning the ball up the pitch, high up the pitch, obviously created two goals, could have been more.

25And our kind of, our one touch passing, players looking to receive the ball, not hiding. And the movement in which to kind of move the ball up the pitch was just like, I was so comfortable when Kinski just had the ball and he just sat on it. And you watch the two defenders, centre-backs part, ball goes to them, goes into Benton Coeur and then we're off and out again. You saw a semblance of what he might be planning. Yeah. Those chickens are up to something. Yeah. That's what I felt. These chickens are up to something. And so I was like, I was chill, man. Relax, relax. You was chilled. I was absolutely breaking it.

132-0, but we were playing good though. That's the thing. That's how I felt. I felt like we were in control. And then after the first half, 2-0. does erb is going to go in there and he's going to fucking he's going to give him what for again this is only first half lads stay in the game stay focused it was so bad in that do not concede killed them within 10 minutes of that second half start don't let them get the momentum and they started to come into it and play back and stuff like that but we you know we we held them at bay and the we were still chasing down every fucking ball like dogs we were still as aggressive as ever and we fully deserved the 2-0 scoreline and the win at Villa Park it was just not only that we restricted them did you hear this at half time?

08so the worst what was it? it was almost like touches in the box or shots it was the worst of any Premier League all season in his first half performance and I think there was one other no no chances will go no shots obviously they they scored as well but um there was i don't i think it was like they hadn't had a a single shot in goal which has never happened under emery or something like that but um yeah it was just and i saw some other stats today um i don't know where i should have really saved the the graphic but it was like the graphic was 5.3 and it was like a 5.3 of um what's that you know when the opponent loses a ball in in their half like us pressing in the final third and the last like three or four games tottenham's like the highest in the premier league so it's like yeah yeah so it's deserved Derby obviously pushing us to press in that final third for them to make mistakes and us to kind of capitalize.

15And you saw it against Villa within, what was it, two minutes? We did that and Richarlison was in. Any other day or any other player, that ball probably goes into the back of the net. I think it was just a little bit late or hesitant to it, pulling the trigger, but it went out for a corner. And after that, I was like, we're two minutes in and we've already had a really good chance. and then we had another second chance who the fuck was it i think it was maybe tell had a really good chance oh that's it the ball came over he controlled it he controlled it well but it just it was just a nudge in front of him and the village defender took it off his toes but any other day someone controls that down wallops it back in the net and that was in the first 15 minutes and i was like we are at villa park and we are going for it we're not we're not kind of doing that low block we'll try and pick them off we'll sit and wait it was like we have to go for this and we did yeah mate what I just cannot believe I didn't realise so many people were invested in in Spurs going down I really weren't like you've seen the sort of fallout on social media like people are furious at Ville you had one job one job to send Tottenham down we won two we won two games back to back for the first time since the start of the season.

39Yeah. Just the world's going crazy. Like the people are talking about Villa having a B team out. What do you think our team is? If you had a B team out, what did we have out? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you know what I mean? It was, we were just, it just, it's what Postacoglu said. Spurs does funny things to people. Does crazy things to people. It does. And like, they're saying... Why though, Rick? What is it? Why are they, why is it that Spurs create this? It's because like West Ham, Arsenal, Chelsea all hate us, right? Yeah. United in the hatred of us. What have we ever done really to warrant such attention?

16It's just, we are a ginormous, humongous football club who just are lodged in fans brains and they just cannot remove us. We're like a parasite. It is. We're like a parasite in all their brains. They were desperate for us to lose that game. Everybody, West Ham, everybody was desperate for us to lose that game. Yeah. Spurs go one, the lap they're like all right don't worry they'll crumble did we fuck did we fuck yeah but we added a second it got even harder yeah it was just uh oh man so good so fucking good i'm so pleased that's why they hate us like it's because they can't understand how we're such a massive club even though we don't win anything and we you know so-called bottle every situation and it's like how are tottenham still this big and this well supported and our away fans god yesterday.

04They were incessant. Mate, they were amazing. I was hoping to get Sean Cray on because he was there at the game. He sent me some videos afterwards.

15There's this angle that when Gallagher scores his goal, you can see the Spurs fans in the background going absolutely ballistic. They really got behind it, didn't they? I think everyone's buying into the Zerbi. Very quickly, we've bought into the Zerbi. You can see what he's trying to do. yeah what I found was really interesting Ricky is that people had this idea of Deserby it was it was that he was like tempestuous manager that he would explode within 18 months it would all go tits up and like that remains to be seen it may well do that but what he's done in in in this short time he's been at Spurs the month that he's been here is calm everything like he's walked into this situation it was a bin fire everyone's losing their minds you know we we're doubting the quality of the players.

59We're talking about the injury crisis. All the things he mentioned in the presser, he mentioned the pitch, the conspiracies about a pitch. Yeah. He mentioned the squad, he meant the injuries, the morale, they're not good enough. And he's coming and he's just gone, everyone, just calm down. Calm down. You are a good team. Yeah. We are. It doesn't matter about the injuries because we can play you free up top. Yeah. We'll do the business. And he sat down and he had Mwani around, his arm around Mwani every day, apparently, if you mean. Every day. like wherever he goes and dinner wherever he goes yeah and he's just come in and went everyone come and that was the opposite i thought he would do i thought he would fire him up and and like go from where he's actually looked at the situation go they don't need this they need to be reminded he's been the arm around the shoulder that we were clamoring for for for red nap red nap yeah yeah yeah totally he um it's kind of like he he always goes on about uh confidence and like mentality and that they are good he wants to be like a father figure to you know he's not going to go in there and he said he's going to do like change three things attacking three things defensively that's it basic not the proper uh deserveable at all so he's kept it basic whereas it felt like at times where frank and uh eagle were changing so much stuff to and being so much like more i don't know players were playing out of position or doing tasks that they weren't used to and changing it from game to game and it's just that instability not being able to be uh consistent and build and get that motivation that rhythm whereas the zerby's coming and said look we're going to do this this way these things these this way that way and then we're going to bounce into it and we're going to go kind of like just stick to what we're doing and just remain consistent and i was like sorry i've been put off because we've just seen fucking oh yes face i was like going into it i was like what's he doing here i did send a little racist way either yeah well no i i don't want to expand on that the um i i i sent a message to jack and he hadn't read it he hadn't said and I said, jump in if you can.

13And here he is. Here I am. Jimmy is. It takes a lot for me to jump as well, lads, you know. How are you? The world's a better place after a Tottenham win, isn't it? Oh, mate, 100%. It's like, we've been talking about like, just during the conversation, we were talking about De Zerbe and him looking at the situation and we know that he's kind of an explosive man and he's come in and just calmed everything down. He said, just chill out. You're good footballers. don't worry, this is going to be fine. I'm going to show you the way. Tell. Moani, Richarlison. I mean, I don't think any of us would have picked them three as one that could go to Villa Park and get a result.

54And he's just gone, yeah, no, it's fine. It's fine. These are fit. It's a bit refreshing, isn't it, Tee? Your manager say, we are capable of winning the next five games as opposed to, one thing's for certain, we are going to lose football matches. and energy created by it's just massive it's like you just don't understand i think none of us really understand because we look at the kind of the premier league footballers and you just think they can do it of course they can do it in any circumstance they're great footballers but the mentality side of it is massive and having a sort of worm walking around going i mean i wouldn't i don't i don't i don't have any ill feeling towards frank but you can you can't i can't imagine getting fired up and wanting to leap over the top and run at the Jerry's.

39You know what I mean? Not happening, is it? Not with Frank. If he's blowing the horn, you're not going over. You'd rather sit and wait for the mustard gas, wouldn't you? Give us your takeaways from the game, Jack.

57Honestly, it's one of the most structured and composed performances I've honestly seen from Tottenham since Pochettino days. And I'm really trying not to go sort of over the top about it, but it was mind-blowing to me quite how dominant we were against Aston Villa. And I don't know how much you two have already spoken about it, but all the sort of fallout out the back of this, the Villa have thrown the game, the integrity of football and everything. It just, it doesn't, it gives zero, zero nod to the fact that Spurs were fucking brilliant. I really, really. We did talk a bit about this, but it's because it's Spurs.

34Yeah. It does. Like what Postal Koldy said, Spurs does funny things to people. It does. It's crazy. It makes people crazy. It was all fun and games when Palace were coming back to play West Ham at home and they'd been on the piss in Europe. Yeah, where was the narrative then? It was all funny. Like, hey, West Ham have got to play fucking Palace and they ain't going to be able to see straight because they've been on the piss and been out in Europe and all that. It was brilliant, wasn't it? It was fucking great. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Put it on your paddy. Yeah, just the way the cookie crumbles, lad.

04You know, fucking hell. And then Aston Villa, right there. Oh, we're in the big six now. You're fucking not, are you? No. Little old Tottenham Hotspur come to town and put you in your place, haven't we? I think Villa fans, which is why I tweeted yesterday. I don't go on Twitter much earlier today, but I had to... I tweeted a picture of Conor Gallagher and just said food chain because previously I tweeted that even like we're in the situation we're in, but if Spurs come knocking Villa you might want kind of Gallagher but if Spurs come knocking we're getting in there's a food chain to this they hated that they hated it I've received so many messages about that so much so it sort of seeped into their fan base that they that they didn't even I'll see messages I'll see people tweeting mentioning the food chain thing and not knowing I'd said it that's how it sort of it sort of permeated and sort of riddled their fan base.

01Like some sort of disease. Do you think, you know how like, you know, I'll step around the fact I know you're sort of your good friends in real life, Gal, but someone like Rory, right to our fan base, you know what he represents. Yeah. That's what you are. You're that cunt on the overlap. That's what it is. I hated, hated. But do you know what? That spurs, that spurs cunt on the overlap. Mate, is there not a food chain to this? Am I being, am I, am I being outrageous here Jack is there not a food chain if Conor Gallagher if Tottenham come knocking doesn't matter what's happening to Villa he knows where we are he knows what club we are yeah and and you know they just have to eat that they just have to eat it's not it's not your fault Villa fans but you were in a championship six years ago what the fuck are you talking about you're bigger than Birmingham do you know what I mean you've got that that's fun we're not you know Arsenal we have to sort of look up at them doing what they're doing right you don't have to do that But you have to look up at us, don't you?

00No, mate. You have to look up at Tottenham Hotspur. When I do the overlap, Jack, there was a couple of Villa fans that they don't, they hate the fact that they're not considered to be as big as Spurs. They hate it. And the thing is, you can't deny it because it's essentially about the amount of eyes watching your team play around the globe. That's all it is, essentially. How much audience do you bring and how much can Sky monetize it? So that's why Sky Sports, despite what you might hear, have a vested interest in Tottenham. I mean, the Premier League has a vested interest in Tottenham. Losing one of the big five is losing millions and millions of viewers, effectively.

37And Villa fans can't get their heads around it. They're just like, no, no, no, we should be big six now. That's what they're like. Because what? You finish me, it doesn't work like that. It doesn't... They haven't won anything since 1995. You know? Yeah. They say they've won all these league titles. Most of them they won in the 19th century. Come on. They hate us. Come on. Can I just say something as well? You know, we were saying about our Villa, they've fielded a weakened team and all this. The commentating yesterday was absolutely fucking abysmal. It was repulsive. I could not believe what I was hearing for the entirety of that fucking match yesterday.

21so it was I can't I don't even know who was commentating but there was a man and a woman who was commentating and all it was was fixated no it wasn't it was just fixated what is it Rick she should be in the kitchen is that what you're saying is that what you're thinking there's no place you've got your own sport commentate on your own sport you're horrible Rick who's making the sandwiches while you're in chatting about football that's it right it absolutely was not that angry little man it was the fact that they were saying hey mama thanks for making in all my favorite recipes. Hi, Ma. Thanks for your unfiltered advice.

I can't believe how much energy they're not putting into this game. I can't believe how bad they're playing.

29I can't believe how disjointed they look. I can't believe... All of it was on Villa. Nothing, nothing was praising Tottenham. Nothing was talking about... You made them do that. Yeah, exactly. Nothing was talking about how quickly we were passing and moving the ball forward. no one was talking about like van der Ven and Danso at the back no one was talking about how Kinski's confidence has come back and how he's you know waiting to he's baiting the press and he's looking he's looking great for it not one fucking mention of that it was all about Villa and I was like this is just absolutely I don't know I like I was watching it with my fingers in my ears like it was just unbelievable and finger up your bum as well yeah yeah no it's Something different up there, mate.

13Do you do that, Ricky? Yeah. What, you treat yourself to a finger up the bum? No. I'm not into that. Jack is. He can see it in his face. I'm not going to comment either way on that one. When you're tossing one off, you're sticking your own finger up your own arse, Jack. Some people do that. I tried it once in my teens, like 14, 15. It's called a turbo wank, wasn't it? So I tried it, but I only got to that knuckle. Turbo wank? Yeah, it's what it's called. I tried, but it just wouldn't let me get the rest of my finger up there. It was just like not having it. Second knuckle. Yeah. I mean, that's good health, isn't it?

53I don't think I've ever gone through any moment where I thought, I wonder what that feels like. Let me shove a finger up my own ass. And when I say that to people, they look at me like I'm a freak. Yeah. I thought you'd be a bit more open-minded, Gary. I'm a prude. yeah he really is a prude I don't want to fucking finger myself on having a wank yeah no I'm a prude he's not a prude when he's talking about you in the travel lodge of Daniel Levy though is he I don't think we can do that bit again every time it gets me every time you talk about it I'm howling I've got there's someone I know within the football club we share common ground actually all of us but who loves it like every time it comes up on the pod about Ricky meeting Daniel Levy in the travel lodge and being hoisted up against the door.

44This gentleman messaged me and going, I can't believe this still gets me. I think I liked it like the first time you did it when you were saying that like in the anticipation of waiting for Daniel, you know, Ricky's there splayed out on the bed in lingerie maybe, you know, waiting. Yeah, we can't do that bit again but I did listen back to it last week when we did it about three or four times and Daniel, Daniel, Daniel, Daniel, D, D, D, D, D, D, D. That makes me so sick. Disgusting. It's happening to your little body as well. When you actually stop to actually think about what it is that's being described here.

23Yeah, revolting. Yeah. Can I just say quickly, Rick, on your thing, a lot of this this season, right, especially, you know what it's like when you've been watching football and you're hearing the commentators gunning you. It was Fletch yesterday. I think it was Fletch and Karen Carney, was it? Was it her? No idea. But anyway, it's usually Fletch. He's usually having a go. I think he's a Forrest fan anyway, so he's sort of got that thing against us. But a lot of this, you know, a lot of this, a lot of the chat, a lot of the fallout. And I'm saying like proper journalists, proper establishment journalists today talking like they're YouTubers, going off about conspiracies and about Villa throwing the game and stuff.

07What about Villa stuff? What are you going to do to do that? In what world are Villa going to go, no, don't worry? Because Bournemouth are on our arse, by the way. Six points now. Yeah. So in what world will they go, do you know what? We want to throw this so that Tottenham get relegated. It's not the case. What the case was is that Spurs turned up. You couldn't stop us. You couldn't deny us. You couldn't do anything with our press. You choked. And our big fat dick is still down their throat. Yeah. Yeah, good. It does make me, like I said, the gammoniness in me, it makes me be like, they shouldn't be.

45Just ban them all from the ground. Any of them, there should be a big list of any of them. Any of them that have said Gary Neville, it'd be good if Tottenham get relegated. He's not coming in. He's not coming in next year. Nowhere near the Tottenham-Oxperts stadium. I won't have a word said about Gary Neville. I think Spurs, Spurs need to. And people will say this is just fans moaning. And yeah, it probably is fans moaning a little bit. The reality of football is lots of people talk about it and people have opinions to get clicks and all that sort of stuff. We get how the game works. But I think it's been pushed to a place this season, in part by some quarters, that I think the club should take exception to.

22And I think the club need to be stronger on it, need to be more resolute somehow. If that's banning people from the ground, if that's, I don't know, complaining to the FA more or whatever, complaining to the Premier League more. Because I think most of the red mafia will do that type of thing constantly. If they don't like anything, they let everybody know about it, you know, constantly. Yeah. But I mean, Arteta's like that and everyone despises him. But, you know, look, they're doing all right though, aren't they? Yeah, but that's a billion pounds spent and fucking haramble. Is that what a kid say?

55Yeah. How about Conor Gallagher? Because even in our fan base, we haven't been over the moon with his performances thus far. I think he hasn't been as bad as people think, but I think actually he's a scapegoat to some degree of the inactivity in January. So it's like, oh, Conor Gallagher was the only one, this hardworking midfielder. But we lost Xavi Simmonds. He went in instead of 10. And he was brilliant. Brilliant in different ways than Xavi Simmonds. But I loved it. I loved the fact. I love the fact that Chelsea fans hold up a banner when he played for them saying Chelsea born and bred. Yeah.

33Like, well, what now, mate? He could, little Chelsea worm. How about one of your own saving Tottenham from relegation? Yeah. Yeah, they despise him as well now. Oh, do they? Yeah, of course they do. He's one of their own. It's like Harry Kane going to fucking Arsenal. Keeping him from fucking relegation. Actually, did you see, before we go into Conor Gallagher, we went 2-0 up and Villa fans were leaving the stadium. him did you see that yeah i did see that yeah what was that is something going on at that football club they must have been like it's two nil like it's close to fucking just go down and just let's just start having a beer no let's let's just let's let's continue the narrative that they went home they'd seen enough seen tottenham and i like we can't cope with this for 90 minutes we'll get out of it i did i did see a lot of uh when i was scrolling social a lot of from villa fans point of view they were filming their own home end but and there were loads of empty seats and like there's still a game here to play lads and everyone's fucking gone up and left already it's like what happened to supporting your club until the end this is pathetic they're on the verge of a european final as well you know at the end of the day like emery has been their probably their greatest manager in the premier league era you know they're booing him they're doing all this yeah there's talk that he's going to real madrid this summer right now off the back of what he's done at Villa.

53And like you say, they're leaving the ground. That's just... I mean, really, what it all points to me is it's just not big six mentality. You don't get into the big six with that mentality. You're not cut out for this. No, they're not, are they? No. No, all right. We might have a little boo every now and then, okay? It's fine. We're on the brink of relegation. You are fifth in the league.

20Paulinha, Ben Sankor Gallagher that midfield mate I just I could like Ben Sankor literally looks like a different footballer like he's moving forward he's shifting he's finding space he's picking the ball up he's comfortable he looks like Ben Sankor we signed doesn't he yeah yeah yeah but that's about messaging from the manager right it's about what he's been told it's like well Frank's like didn't want that to happen and you're giving players license to be creative and and you can see what great players they are like ben tencora this year i've just at times i've gone i don't know what he is i don't know why he's playing for us what happened maybe the acl really damaged his career then suddenly i hope the injury it wasn't you know too badly injury maybe it's fatigue i don't like it when a player sits down without contacts and then gets taken off but he he was sensational but he coupled up with paulina destroying that that moment where he slid and won the ball and then used a bit of skill and carried it out won the foul and he fist pumped the air because we're living every fucking minute like generally I'd be like calm down yeah Porro winning the ball and punching the air and stuff I know that's a bit of him but generally I'd be going we need to sort of reign this in you don't celebrate that it's not like a you know you haven't cleared one off the line but they've brought in that every ball is worth winning and should be won by a Spurs player.

47I've got loads more I want to say, but I want to get your point, your guys' take on that midfield. Well, De Zerbi had a... I watched an interview with De Zerbi this morning and he was saying, having Gallagher play the way that... the performance that he turned in yesterday is like having 12 players on the pitch. Yeah. It's like you're up front, that 10 position, he's there. You look at right back, he's there ready to receive. Central midfield, he's there waiting to receive. He's running after the ball, he's doing xyz and he said it's like having a 12 man and i was like even in like late on in the game villa have got it at the back and he is chasing down that ball richarlison as well and like i was watching yesterday especially in the first half richarlison as he's pressing he's looking constantly he's like scanning back and forth and he is looking at these passing lanes where he needs to run to, to close it down so that the keeper doesn't have, has one less person to pass to.

48And I was just watching his runs and I was just like, this is fucking, this is great. But as that front kind of four to start pressing and as we do press them and then they go to kind of, because they can't find anywhere to pass, then they do look for someone into midfield. Then one of our defenders has gone even higher to meet the ball, winning the ball back, or one of our midfielders winning the ball back. and winning it high in that final third. Like all of them, I can't think of a player that had a really bad game at all yesterday. There were parts where there was a couple of times where Mouane had the ball, he was running, and he made the wrong pass.

33But, you know, I can forgive that. Not everyone's going to have a 10 out of 10 game if you're pushing me on to say anything bad about anyone. But I'm just trying to think about anyone yesterday. We don't have to. It was just the effort that everyone, like you're saying, everyone just seems so bought into chasing after every single ball. He's amazing. Because they realize every single ball, if you don't chase after one ball and it gets swung in and you're not paying attention, you know, it's a Premier League. Anyone can score. found that out in the 96th minute or 95th minute yesterday but it's just that belief in them um and it's yeah it's it's great to see really yeah are you jack looking towards the future or are you allowing yourself to do that game by game right now mate honestly like i've seen seeing the overall look there's two things to this right deserve he is getting results but also So the vibes are definitely growing and you can see that.

36And that's, these two things coming in tandem is just perfect for Spurs. You know, there's been a lot of talk about West Ham and there's been a lot of talk about sort of the form they'd found and everything like that. I just wonder if, and fingers crossed, this will be the case. If come the end of the season, we'll be looking at the fact that maybe they found that form at the wrong time. You know, So they peaked a bit too soon, whereas Spurs, whether it was by invention or whether it was just by luck of the fact that we managed to get Deserby in at this point, we're sort of finding that peak. We're finding that little bubble of form right now that is perfect for us.

20But I mean, I just think one of the main things that's really interesting about this is, to your point, that we're bringing in sort of these figures from the outside, even if you like from the fringes again. Polinia who had sort of come in with a big reputation and yeah, it caused a bit of a culture war, but I think most people even through gritted teeth would say he had a positive impact on what it was that Thomas Frank was trying to do in the early stages at Tottenham. And then he sort of went by the wayside a bit and he's disappeared for a while. Well, I think we all sort of forgot that he was even a part of the squad.

54He's come back into the fold. De Zerbe's done something. He's somehow managed to light a fire under him. Ben Tanker, I mean, is the most pronounced example of this. That's incredible. Well, but it's unbelievable because this is a guy that, I hold my hands up and I don't even feel like it's some egg on my face thing. When we gave him the new contract, I was thinking, what are you doing, Tottenham? This guy's finished. He's finished because we'd seen it for half a season. The bloke looked like he couldn't even run. And like you say, he didn't have any idea what type of footballer he is. Does Herbie come in?

27Yeah, maybe he's had a bit of time to get a bit more fit. I don't know that could be part of it, but he's inspired him. He's made him obviously believe to buy into what it is that they're doing. And you saw that with what Gallagher was saying afterwards when, when they interviewed him on the pitch with Sky Sports. And he's just there saying all of us believe in this guy, all of us, this, this message he's given us is inspiring everybody. It's, and wherever he's gone, he's had players say that about him. I know I'm sure there are players like Kone who are, you know despise him but they're influential players adam lallana and um i think on a preview once i listed i found that a and i didn't i just posted in the group it was just i found every player that said something like positive about the zerbys coaching and it's insane like the the players that he's worked with and what they've said about how he's improved their game and sometimes it is just about freedom but it's also about like player managers understanding qualities and building confidence and we were lacking confidence for so long and and now it seems like we're full of it like we can go anywhere i feel i genuinely think that we could i know it's like you get giddy after a win don't you but i yeah i'm buzzing looking at the start of the season right and it was a warning flag at the time i think it was that quiet voice in the back of all of our heads but when frank came in and he apparently wanted to sign players like damsgard and buemo and none of them wanted to come none of them came to top them none of them who was the other lad that arsehole signed as well the defensive midfielder nor god nor god this lad as well none of them followed frank none of them came to him i don't really recall many many of like frank's old players being like he was quality he was brilliant you'd die for him I think there was a few that were like, he was a nice guy and everything.

19But as you say, Flev, like with De Zerbi, there's this just aura around the guy. I think it's, is it Kevin Prince-Boteng who played under him as well at one stage in his career? I think it was Sassuolo maybe. Who was just talking about him being like, you know, people don't realise who this guy is. See also Sandro as well. Talking about like, you know, this guy is special. He's, he's, you know, one of these sort of rare breeder managers. And like you say, you don't want to get giddy about it. But what I would say is the last time I heard former players talking of a manager in this way is when we signed Pochettino.

55And I was sceptical of Pochettino when we signed him. I wanted De Boer at the time. I remember it. But I remember Pochettino came in and all we heard was players. These old Southampton players, players from Espanyol being like, that guy is going to go far. He will do a great job with Tottenham. And it's all the same sort of stuff we're hearing from De Zerbi now. The Zerbi at Sassuulo and Pochettino at Spaniel were very similar. He really built them into a good side. And then players like Locatelli and others were pinched by the bigger clubs because he coached them into being something. Rick, how do you feel about relegation right now?

33Because I don't know if you've seen, but I thought in recent times, Forrest are pretty much out of it now. But we are two points behind them. And they've got Chelsea away today, haven't they? Have you seen the team they've put out? No. Mate, if you thought that Villa were throwing the game, Forest have thrown the game. Wow. They've got, I don't even know half these players, and that's not saying anything. But Abbott, Bakwa, Nets, McAtee, Jay Kuna, Ryan Yates, Igor Jesus, obviously, Jesus, Dominguez, I mean, that could be anybody, uh Iowini and Morata like that is Morata um all their players all their decent players are not playing they're focused on the Premier League I wonder if that will come back to haunt them because you're looking at the you're looking at the league now right we've got Forest got some horrible horrible fixtures as well you've got they've got Leeds I'm trying to find it what the fuck I think they've got United away as well like I think Forest could get dragged back into this they can I would love it they can they have been that is bold I know that Europa League means that and if they beat Villa you'd think they'd beat Freiburg or was it Braga or the other round yeah they're prioritising the Champions League obviously because of the money and stuff but I think it's a risk it really is you've got they've got they've got Chelsea away today they've got Newcastle at home Man United away and Bournemouth at home they lose to Chelsea today and we beat Leeds we go above them yeah and then it's about Forrest and West Ham and Spurs are not even because I'm assuming West Ham would lose to Arsenal so how do you feel about relegation right now boys I'm feeling pretty nice very nice very nice king of the castle like Jack said I am taking it game by game at the moment and at the moment like you guys were saying feeling pretty giddy and blah blah blah I need to temper the giddiness.

40But what I might just say to you guys is, it's bank holiday Monday in the UK. Let's just live in the giddiness. Let's just be silly with it. Why don't tomorrow we start worrying about, you know, Leeds and relegation and stuff like that. Just enjoy it and bask in the glory of fucking winning at Villa Park and climbing out the relegation zone. But let me ask you another question. Once the dust settles, I'll be thinking about Leeds. and Leeds are banging form at the moment. And it doesn't look like they're going to be coming to Tottenham to roll over and get their bellies tickled, really. They're bobbins, though, aren't they?

16Come on, let's be honest. Come on, like you said, let's embrace the silliness, right? We're all Tottenham fans here. They're bobbins. We'll have them. We'll do them. I think we will beat them. But I don't think it's kind of like, it's going to be a walk in the park, really. I think it's going to be a tough game. Before Wolves, we were like dead and buried. I know we were pulling a brave face and everyone, Cal was saying, yeah, we'll get 15 points in the next five games. We hadn't won a game all year. Last time we won is Archie Gray's scrappy header against Palace at Selhurst Park in December. There was nothing to suggest that we were able to win two on the bounce.

52We beat Wolves. We beat Villa away. We all but beat Brighton as well. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's correct. We did. We would be on 40 points right now with three games to play. if that would is that right yeah I think no no no we would have been on 39 but yeah you know all but safe I just I hate those little chickens are up to something really do how do you feel Clav what about relegation relegation are you are you less worried now have you taken your foot off the gas of thinking about relegation or is it still like very much like we have this is the work really isn't done as of yet. I haven't really even thought about Leeds.

37I've just been enjoying and celebrating. Why not? Why not? Yeah. So, but I'm looking, I didn't realise, like when I saw Forest's team, they've thrown the game against Chelsea. They'll get beaten three or four today. Okay. And that means they're well back in the picture. Like, I think what they're banking on is essentially they've got four points because they're three above West Ham, but the goal difference is like minus four compared to minus 19 at West Ham. I think that's what probably will do for West Ham if it isn't Spurs that goes down. It'll be the goal difference. Them getting slapped 3-0 by Brighton.

13It's like they had chances and they hit the post a couple of times. They probably didn't deserve to get beat 3-0 but the fact that it happened was brilliant. That was the turning point. And we capitalised on it and now we're in this situation where I'm looking at the table and what we need to do if we get four points, if we get a draw, if we get four points from the remaining three games, I think we're going to be okay. That would put us on 41. Because Arsenal and West Ham is a big thing, right? Because I never want Arsenal to win. I would rather risk our safety than want Arsenal to beat West Ham.

58I don't want that at all. I would happily say if West Ham beat Arsenal, I'll go, right, fair enough. Let the chips fall where they may. Whoa, whoa, whoa. No, no, no, no, no. Not beating. That's definitely gone. You've gone too far, mate. Draw. Drawsies. Give them a little drawsie. Beat Arsenal. They hand Man City the title. Yeah, I know. But that leaves them right up our ass. Don't care. Oh, God. You are fucking... I have some fucking balls, Ricky. You are living in this Monday bank holiday. I've seen your balls. They're small. They're little. Grow a pair. Yeah. Proper ones. One that's bigger than the other.

33Stinks. Stinks? Stinks? Stinks? What are you talking about? I'm giddy. I'm giddy. I'm getting involved. One of my massive bollocks. Stinks. Only that one. I didn't say massive bollock. I've got massive bollock. It's like a penny farthing in your scrotum. It's like a Jersey potato, yeah. Withered. Don't you think, though, gal, like this for probably the, I think for the only time in our lives, probably one of the only times in Tottenham's history. I'm looking at this, I'm looking at De Zerbe, I'm looking at the impact he's had. But there's still the chance we can go down. And for me, the crossroads that Spurs are at right now is if Spurs stay up and the people that run this club actually heed this massive fucking warning they've had this season and get their act together and back this guy, I'm sat here thinking, sky's the limit on what we could achieve under this fella.

30But at the same time, I look at Spurs getting relegated as that's teetering on the verge of the abyss. I think about debt and I think about all the ramifications and implications behind that. I'm thinking about Enoch buying the stadium and subletting it back to the club. All this type of shit, right? Why? That's mental. That is mental. Enoch buying the stadium and subletting it back to the club. you'd better be on anti-deprecation. Coventry Coventry, doesn't it? Is that how your brain works? It's like the fact that the club are going to fucking, they're going to bite us anyway. Shit, boy. Yeah, I didn't even have that in my brain.

06No, I didn't even put it in my brain. You can't come again, Jack.

13It's not me that's come up with that. It's not me that's come up with that, right? It's Twitter. It's Twitter. That's what it does, isn't it? Don't go on there. Post and mute. That's all I do. Post and mute. I need the validation more than you do, girl. I think but it isn't validation there's people just calling me like fucking disgusting pig like is that what I want to see I'll get up in the morning see what's people saying on Twitter you're a cunt you're a cunt I hope you fucking die of AIDS that's what I've had this week wow a bit of fans but still

46what was your point Jack the part of all the potential sort of abyss that might come with relegation what I'm saying is it's just it's a massive crossroads Spurs are in like such a unique places they often find themselves it's like you know that little meme of the bloke looking out either side of the bus kind of thing it's yeah yeah you know one side is very very bright one side's brilliant because i i feel inspired by deserby and the effects and the impact he's had on the team already but i think there are certain realities to relegation that would be very very difficult for any football club especially one of our sides with the sort of overheads that we've got but you know let's hope we don't have to think about that let's hope we can just kind of plough forwards and like you say, get ourselves out of this because right now it is, it's looking pretty good, isn't it?

33It's looking, it's looking decent. If it, I mean, like if it was, it does feel a lot better. And like, we're only a point above West Ham, aren't we? Might as well be 10 points. Well, I mean, like it's a point, but we're still quite buoyed by it, aren't we? We're still like, it feels like we feel like it's, it's done and dusted. Yeah, it's a point. We beat Leeds, we're up. If they lose to Arsenal and we beat Leeds, it's done. Yeah. It's done. Yeah, pretty much. They can get to 41. They'd have to win both their games. We'll need to draw a point from Everton. Okay. And then, I never want to be in this fucking situation ever again, you cunts.

15Yeah. Someone said to me, Daniel Popp said to me, don't you enjoy it a little bit? No. No. No. I'll finish 10th every year for the rest of actually I think I sold my soul in Bilbao I don't want to sell my soul again right now sometimes you have to let fates play I don't want to finish 10th forever but I don't enjoy the but then is this the buzz we felt today is that because of the situation we find ourselves it is isn't it yeah yeah yeah completely my missus said to me yesterday she was like but it is it's a little bit exciting isn't it you know this like oh are you gonna get relegated tonight no exciting what are you talking about i'm fucking staring at the abyss every single day like every this is the first thing i think about when i when i wake up the last thing i think about when i'm going to bed if you don't fall isn't it beautiful yeah well yeah but i don't i'd much rather have a few paces back and look down instead of my toes being over the ledge side and looking down.

23What if we look down and we just see West Am flailing down into the... I'm not even going to put a name on who's flailing down there. I don't care. As long as I'm at the top and I can look down, I don't care who it is. Just don't let it be me. What's your preference? If it isn't Spurs and it is West Am or Forrest, who would you rather see go down? Oh, it's obviously West Am, obviously. In a way, it's Forrest a little bit. Yeah, I think Forrest I'm happy with either. Really? Okay. I don't hate to say this, but West Ham don't offend me in any way. They don't have any impact on me. That's the biggest insult you can give them.

57No, no, fair. And that's why they hate us, because we don't see them like we see Arsenal. But I feel exactly the same way as Chelsea. Chelsea do nothing to me. I don't consider them a rival. I don't consider them anything. They're a financially doped, illegally bought squad. They're nothing. Literally, Chelsea are absolutely nothing. They're just nothing. They're a team that just exists in a league we play in. And that's it. Nothing stirs me about Chelsea. So does something stir you about Forrest then? About sending them down? Yeah, because that fucking Maranacis cunt. Right, okay. I thought you had flashbacks of Steve Stone.

44or Ian Wohm was one yeah yeah I don't mind getting beaten by teams I just think the skis is a and Forest fans as well another one's actually oh we need we're going to be a part of the big six we say won a fucking European Cup under Frank Clark I don't even know if that's his actual name that's how shit that is do you know we have the second best Frank Clark do you know we have the can I just an apology actually I need to hold my hands up this is a serious I made a comment in the last podcast and I've received so much heat from it. Like genuinely worried about, I've got to hope like NordVPN don't hear this.

22Oh God. I just want to apologize to the club and Pepper Pig because since Pepper Pig signed up, we've won two games on the bouncer. That's true. Okay. So I just apologize. It was genius. Whoever come up with that branding, Pepper Pig Spurs. Yeah. Good. You're going to apologise to your pig-ism. Yeah. I mean, I don't mind a pig. I think it's human beings that form them or look like them. Yeah. I probably need to work on it. Any examples for any pig even? Charlie Adam. Yeah, straight up. Lee Trundle. Who's he plays for Villa? McGinn, whatever his name is. McGinn. What's his name? McGinn. McGinn.

48But on a personal level waking up at 4am going oh my god Spurs please you don't know how important this is. I loved Mwani when he come off as well when he was sort of shushing just getting 2-0 to the Villa fans. Yeah someone was doing the up yours and he looked at him and just did 2-0. That's nice. That's one single finger. What did you make of his balls, did you say? Yeah, I thought it was... Flashes, I would say. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was okay. If we... There was a couple of times where he was running with a ball, where he'd done some great work, and he just picked out the wrong pass. A couple of times he'd done that.

30But there was also a lot of time that... Who was their left back? he was just going at them at will and taking them on did really well Fidinha? No I don't think it was was it that Mattson or whatever his name is was that I think he came on oh he says I've just checked on sofa score it's your mum was playing left back oh god no wonder why he's fucking good at going in round the back your mum like it round the back? 59:40It's just zero. I'm convinced this body. I'm convinced this body. That sounds like a cow thing to do, to be fair. I don't think a cow. I mean, the cow's got nothing to gain from it. We talk about De Zerbi calming everything down, the shift in mentality, Spurs finally looking structured again, and why this performance deserved far more credit than it got. There’s love for Gallagher, Bentancur, Palhinha, Richarlison’s pressing, Kinsky’s confidence, and the sudden feeling that Tottenham might have found belief at exactly the right time.

We also get into Villa fans, the “food chain”, the relegation picture, West Ham, Forest, Peppa Pig, and the dangerous joy of feeling giddy again.
