In short

Tottenham Hotspur’s relegation battle after a 1-1 draw vs Leeds, with heavy focus on controversial VAR decisions, Matty/Tell bicycle-kick incident, and whether Spurs will stay up. They also discuss player performances (especially goalkeeper Vicar/“Kinski”/Vicario substitute Antonin Kinski), James Maddison’s return, and tactical/substitution choices.

Guest backgrounds

The episode is a fan podcast featuring three regulars: Jack, Ricky, and Jay. They speak as long-time Spurs supporters, referencing matchday experiences, WhatsApp group commentary, and season-long injury/manager debates (De Zerbi).

Key claims

VAR is “corrupt” and selectively ruins Spurs goals/decisions; Tell didn’t deserve racist abuse after the head-kick incident; De Zerbi’s late substitutions were too slow; Kinski’s two saves “kept us in the league”; Maddison instantly looked like Spurs’ best player despite not being fully match fit.

Notable examples

Tell’s bicycle kick vs Ampadu; Madison penalty appeal not given; an offside check that still felt wrong; Kinski’s header save and a reflex save off the crossbar; Richarlison missing chances and looking unfit; 16 corners/limited shots on target.

1:16it's the fighting cock it's the fighting

1:24it's the fighting cock I was thinking Jack I was thinking more apps would be exit music the first part of exit music for a film that's how I feel at the moment away from your sleep the drying your tears today we escape we escape

1:55dead if you don't know at home that was me blowing my own fucking brains out you didn't lose no a point you know point to point point to point point to point can you imagine can you imagine if you said this time last year sort of on the verge of Bilbao that we'd be you know that we'd be bright siding a point at home to Leeds yeah I wouldn't put it past this last couple of years I'm not actually that surprised at all Jack if you really think about it the only surprising thing is that we were in Bilbao this is this is normal that was abnormal do you know and do you know that like when Tell sort of karate kicked the bloke in the head yesterday, which we'll talk about.

2:38That wasn't even the worst thing that had happened in that three hours for me. So you imagine three hours, including the 90 minutes of the game. Yeah. Not only did I witness tell, you know, kicking the man's head off. Yeah. I shit myself.

2:58I'm not joking. I actually shit myself.

3:05When I saw that come in the WhatsApp group, and I was like, oh, he's doing a bit here. And then I thought, no, no, no, no. I've actually done a poo in my pants. I was sitting on the sofa. I was fucking... Old Dan Tottenham, I rode, doubled over on the floor. But Dan's like, what's the matter? You got fucking appendicitis or something? I was like, no, flab shit himself. Mate, I couldn't believe it. Is this what it is? Is this what middle age is now? Just shitting yourself at random? I won't even cross my own body anymore. Just on the sofa, thinking about the game, thought, right, I just need a little fart, and then a hot liquid mess in my pants.

3:47And it didn't end there, right? The embarrassment didn't end there, because I'm embarrassed. No one knows about this. I'm embarrassed for myself. How the fuck dare I shit myself? How dare I do that? How dare you? I sat into my own body. How dare you do that? You fucking embarrass me. You embarrass me. but it's okay no one finds out so i immediately go to whatsapp and tell everyone i've shit myself and so i didn't something like funny didn't agree with you well i hope so otherwise my body is breaking down i don't know i hope i can't remember anything too you know spicy or anything anyway so i waddle to the um i waddle to to the toilet clean myself up which took a while it was everywhere oh dear fucking everywhere I'm burst I can jump and then what I've got to do is I've got to get rid of the boxes I can't what am I supposed I'm not keeping these I'm not going to let my wife wash them I'm not going to wash them these need to go straight in the bin but I've got to go upstairs in my in my kegs to get a fresh pair and then tactically get to the bin and no one see me yeah push it down in the bottom of the bin listen to this I'm hiding from my own kids because I've shit myself and I'm hiding from them because I don't want to tell them what I'm putting in the bin which is a shitty pair of underpants I am pathetic and then Spurs don't win against Leeds terrible day how dare you do this to me

5:28your day's alright boys what happened in the football yeah i didn't shit myself so that's a fucking bonus you know what i'm talking about though rick i know that's why i was celebrating i was like this happens to me all the time and i was like you're like you're like and you look at me in disgust yeah you've seen yourself at home how have you managed that you're a fucking adult rick you're 43 you've got kids yeah and then and then the shoes on the other foot yeah and i was i was laughing we were laughing It wasn't even like shoes falling out of the loft. It was, why is it boiling hot? That's the thing that shocked me.

6:06I was like, it's so hot.

6:12Fucking Christ. And all I needed, all I needed to get over that was three points.

6:20Where do we start, boys? Where do we start? Where would you like to start, Jack? Mathis Tell? yeah I'm going to defend him okay that's good and I wonder if I'm alone here I saw some comments in the WhatsApp group and I thought you lot of pricks I'm not going to read that WhatsApp group for about four hours now that went straight into the archive on WhatsApp

6:46he merely tried to clear the ball you've seen scissor kick clearances in football a million times what he was doing wasn't unconventional it wasn't strange he wasn't looking at his man he just tried his best to clear the danger should he have used his head maybe if he would have got mowed down by ampadu fucking class yesterday but if it just smashed him down everyone going away he's too weak like i thought what he made in that moment a split decision to try and clear it by using a bicycle kick and it kicked him in the head instead without seeing him there. So I am, I'm going to defend him and say, all right, it probably was a penalty.

7:28It's fine. If it happened to a Spurs player, I'd probably want it, but it's not Matty's Tell's fault. He doesn't deserve probably bundles of racist abuse that he's currently receiving today. God, is he really? No, I don't know. I'm just, because that's what happened to Danso. Oh my God. Okay. I mean like watching it back Tell has his back to play He's watching the ball It loops up He's watching it He has a quick check over his shoulders To check that no one's there Nobody is there He jumps up to do the bicycle kick And then Ampadu comes running in To try and hit it I don't even think he Does he catch him on the head?

8:07I haven't quite seen Yeah he kicks him right in the nut Does he really? Yeah Oh fucking hell I didn't see that What did you think happened? He missed it Well, I think he missed it. I thought he missed him and caught his arm and then he's just gone down and like... I thought that as well. I thought that as well. I thought he was like feigning injury. Like feigning injury that he'd caught his head. When you watched the replay, Jack, what did you think then? I thought he maybe, maybe grazed him. I didn't think it was a penalty there. I agree with you. People are sort of making out like it's so obvious, but it's not exactly subtle to do a bicycle kick in your own box, is it?

8:39And it's the fact that it had to be pulled back by VAR, what, two, three minutes later, play had continued. The referee didn't see that much of a big deal about it at the time. And then as we know VAR does, doesn't it? He slows it down to that one frame where you're like, there! Yes! Look, look, he's got him there. Got him there! This is obvious, isn't it? Give him a penalty! Just allow the goal! Just allow the goal! Put him down! I saw they were like little gremlins. Ruining everyone's fun! Ruining everyone's fun! Just allow the goal! Furiously wanking while they did it. In the VAR trunk. Mike Dean just sort of slowly nursing a semi, just watching the game.

9:20Deary me. Just watching the game from his sofa, just like that. Slow, and then every now and then he just goes, do you know what I mean? Just spit on his own cock as he massages, as another goal gets disallowed, everyone's finally just ruined. Yeah, so I thought probably was a penalty, but I don't blame Tell. Ricky, you thought it wasn't a penalty. No, not really. I mean, if someone is to do a bicycle kick, right, and if you just quickly run to get your head on it, that's an automatic free kick because it's dangerous play. Is that what we're saying now? Yeah, I don't know. I think the rule is a high foot, essentially, so it is a foul.

10:02But can you not challenge stuff with your feet that's quite high up? Well, I guess. You can scissor kicks and bicycle kicks as long as, how do you know that someone's going to run onto it? Yeah. And that means. Do a diving header. Right. Can't score now. I've just put my head in front of your boot. My face. My face. But that's the thing is we'd love a scissor kick if we're scoring one. No one complains then. What if you're scissor kicking and the defender goes to the head of the ball and you kick. so you're allowed a high foot as long as the defender's head isn't there I think that must be the thing but if you don't know the defender's head is there and he puts it there and you kick him is that your fault?

10:46Well I see the Leeds players fucking jumped into him I know it wasn't intentional exactly and he'd checked over his shoulder that no one was there I think it's nonsense I think it's it's it's all corrupt it's a fix yeah it's you think there's an angle to get Tottenham relegated Yes. Yeah, it's the Illuminati. Yeah. I love this. Go on then. What's it about? Well, they just want to see a big club go down, don't they? Because it was funny. Who do? Everyone. Every single club that's chanting Tottenham away. Well, at the current, it's about 22 clubs all chanting that at the moment. Yeah, yeah. Even the clubs that can't fucking face us, they're in League Two, still chanting Tottenham away.

11:30Yeah, next season up next. Yeah, yeah. Everyone get them down. wouldn't it be funny if a massive fuck-off football club with the revenue that they have at one of the world's best stadiums and training facilities wouldn't it be a story if they got relegated wouldn't it just i understand i understand why other fans want it and why the newspapers want it i understand all of that yeah the premier league don't want it maybe we're difficult maybe we're too difficult maybe we've got ideas above our station you know people always say that about Tottenham haven't they maybe we don't just say yes when everyone else you know I mean can we have the eyes and the nose when they want to do something when they want to implement something maybe maybe we're just tricky maybe they don't like it and they do oh I want to join the Super League now do you Tottenham yeah oh okay no I mean like financially the Premier League doesn't need Tottenham going down in fact it's the last thing they want any one of the big six to go down you essentially and the championship and the EFL are going oh yeah yeah well Wrexham are especially aren't they yeah Wrexham, Birmingham those sort of teams they'll love it no I mean like the administrators who run who run the EFL they're like a big six club going down to their division fucking all the eyes all the eyes around the world yeah that's coming to us do you reckon it really has that much impact on the Premier League though if Spurs go Yeah, I think it does.

13:02I think it's massive. I mean, you won't notice it, but I think the impact on how many people are potentially going to watch the Premier League is impacted significantly. The amount of branding. Do you know what? I'll take what feeds the conspiracy stuff for me, and I keep going on about it, but you both must have seen it, the Richard Scudamore interview from a couple of years ago, where he's talking about the special strategy they have to ensure that, you know, Yeah, different winners and it all stays exciting and stuff. What's it got to do with you? Yeah, how does a Premier League have a strategy to ensure who wins their competition?

13:38Yeah, who do you choose? Why do you choose? What's your metrics? Exactly. What are they doing? And that surely does open the door for you to think, well, you know, it's a bit WWE, isn't it? If you've got a big team like Spurs going down, maybe we can take the hit on that for a year because it's a good story. There's quite a lot of clubs with rich owners now. So, yeah, maybe we'll be all right for a year. Spurs will come straight back up. And then they've had their humiliation ritual. So we'll let them win the league when they come back up. You know, who knows? If you've got a strategy for a team, a different team winning the Premier League, then you've got to have a strategy for teams going down as well.

14:18That's it. You know, mix it up. You mentioned WWE there. check check what ricky what's my ww wrestling name if i was a wrestler prince albert too yeah and and if if i if i was a wrestler what would my finisher move be called the prince albert too also known as oh i can't remember that two dicks yeah two dicks yeah which is essentially a 69 a par right and what's it was my catchphrase thanks for coming thank you

15:03thanks everyone thanks for coming

15:10um yeah i look i i the conspire the referee stuff is is just unrelenting and it just we still need to get so many calls go against us like james madison i was convinced penalty i I watched it. I was like, pen, pen, pen, pen. It's a penalty. And it's just like, no, cleared, cleared. And you're like, what do you mean? How have you watched, with all due respect, how have you watched Matis Tell kick a man in the head for a minute and this, you see the minutest touch. I don't even see it. And you've cleared it straight away. What is, maybe the reason, because maybe I'm going to start buying into it.

15:43It could be the only reason. And as well, when, was it Dominic Calvert-Lewin? where he was offside. But then in the stadium, it was like offside. The liner's got his flag up. Yeah. On the screen, VAR checking penalty. And you're like, mate, he's offside. You can't be checking stuff. Don't do it. What is happening? And it's going on and on and on. And I was like, what is happening? They are just trying everything. Did you? I was worried because I saw it and it said the offside flag went up and then they were like, no, we've got to check. We've got to check, make sure. Yeah, exactly. The offside is offside.

16:25Let's really hurt Spurs. Make sure, let's hope he's onside. Frame by frame. And you're like, he's well offside. And then you look at it and he's like, literally a toe. Yeah. Obviously. I hate VAR so much. It's the worst thing that's ever happened to our game. It really is. And you know why? They'll never get rid of it. I don't know if I've mentioned it in this podcast before. We did some digging. We figured out the reason. When everybody hates it, the football supporters federation put out a survey and they asked people and it says 91 says var ruins enjoying and celebrating the goal 91 yeah that is mental right and they're saying people go if you're that unpopular let's get rid of it you know why we can't get rid of it you know why the cat is out of the bag and it's never coming back why is because in order to make that change in the premier league all the clubs in the premier league have to vote on that change there is one club who doesn't want VAR and that's Wolverhampton Wanderers and they're not even going to be in it next year do you know why?

17:22do you know why they want VAR? why? because things like Reyes penalty that's what I asked you want to remove the jeopardy let's control as many of the controllers as we can and fuck what happens in the game let us control everything well can't we vote again next year? Wolves might be in it and then we're fucking no Wolves are the only one that want it don't want it everyone else 19 to 1 they were shut down we all want VAR oh they want it yeah oh my god that's why it'll never go it's not about the Premier League it's not about the FA it's about none of these people it's about it's about the Premier League clubs they need 14 14 to say we don't want VAR next season and then it will go but they won't because they want to control the controllables as many of them as possible well they're fucking controlling us don't they mate what goal tell though nice that was really really good he's been threatening one of those for a while as well yeah a lot of the games for under 21's France where he's been scoring he's on that left down side and he cuts in on his right and curls him in so he has got that in his locker and he has tried that a few times at Tottenham just hasn't quite come off he may have scored one I think I can't quite remember but the the control for the ball was fucking superb.

18:45Had a little, a little bit of a little backspin. It went forward and it had this little backspin on it, which is so nice. And then one strike caressed it straight into the corner. Fucking beautiful girl. And that South stands where the whole stadium absolutely erupted right in front of my face. Just fuck. Oh, it's so good. It's so fucking good. It's a funny one with him. I feel like I'm watching a different player to a lot of people because I, I always see him as he's raw, but he looks really talented. And I always think he brings a lot every time he plays for us. And I sort of think, yeah, a couple of years down the line, he's going to be really, really good for us.

19:19But people fucking hate him. I don't get it. Do you remember I showed you gal that the other day when I, I just said something like, Oh, I think tells actually all right. You know, I don't really know why people give him a hard time. Like he's a call me, call me like a fucking slob or something like that. he was like what do you know about anything you fucking slob fucking come on you know was it in the first half was it I can't quite remember was it Till who had the ball in the corner and he was being he was being pressed and the way to get out of it he put the ball across our area and I think it was it was very fucking hairy when he put the ball across.

20:06I think a Leeds player nearly got it. But it's like decision-making like that. I don't know. Yeah, there was a moment like that. But it's like he's young. He's got something special. He's got something that most players don't have. Would you want just someone like a tidy, five out of 10, six out of 10? Or do you want someone who wants to try something or wants to imprint his personality on the game? Like, you should be celebrating and encouraging that and be accepting of the mistakes he makes because he can do something. no i agree uh but i'm i'm i'm just uh answering your question of why you're just like i sometimes i think you better brunt of my frustration more than more than my wife does uh yeah that i mean that's that's oh my i saw it because i didn't see her last night i had a bit of a nightmare i've got this amitriptyline tablets and they just knock me out but you've got to take them because um if you you've got to build up their effects take like they're like antidepressants but they're used for nerve pain right so that i have a small dosage of that to help with the nerve issues i've got to help with the the suffering and pain of tottenham yeah it's so good mate because you take them and you start to feel drowsy and then you have eight hours of the best sleep you could even imagine.

21:27Not waking up once and worrying about Spurs since I've been taking this antidepressant. I'm not even depressed. Maybe that was the thing that made the poo-poo come. 23:05He's sleeping well. I get eight hours sleep or shitting my pants once a day.

23:12But I took it at 11 o 'clock last night, so I was out. and anyway I missed my misses and I said are you Spurs Drew and she went Drew? That good? Yeah. Because you used to lose every game Drew and I went yeah he's he's kind I mean we are four unbeaten in the league for the first time in about 16 years. Yeah. But we're running out of time. Yeah. I had a similar one as well like got it got in at 20 to 1 last night woke up got up at like half six this morning mrs gave her a tea she's like saw the result last night draw point i was like it's no good she's like what do you mean it's no good but you didn't lose like you always lose like yeah no good yeah and then i started explaining the mechanics of it all but yeah where west ham i've got to go up to new car newcastle on a terrible run of form and they're shit and they're good you know not gonna be up for it and west ham can smell the fucking blood and if they win up at that if they win up atst james's we are fucked this is like half past six in the morning spit spit all over her face and you know what the worst bit is ricky is when you look at their face and you realize they don't care yeah yeah they don't know what i'm saying the borderline don't understand but they definitely don't care about this she's looking at the magpie in the corner over my shoulder in the in the garden she's not listening yeah yeah So sometimes, Ricky, I have to take my frustrations out on you because you understand.

24:48I found it. I found it. Wow. What an amazing idea. We could also bring back KWP, Winks, and Skip while we're at it. Gormless cunt.

25:02Gormless cunt. I'm a bit of a gormless cunt, to be fair. What was the opinion was? That's why I'm not on Twitter anymore because you can't say anything without being brutally attacked by people. Jesus Christ. James Maness is back. Mate, oh God, I've missed him. Yeah. Well up for it. Love the air cut. Yeah. Love the locks. But you realise how good he is when he's sort of 60 % and running around pulling straight and flying. We've missed him so badly. I know we've banged on about the injuries all season, but our best player for the first half of the season was Kudus and he's been missing now for, well, seven months.

25:40Hates our guts now, apparently. I don't know if that's true, but it's reported. It's frustrated. Frustrated by how we worked on his injury. And then, yeah, you realise how good a player James Madison is and how you can't replace him. It was exciting. How did you feel, Jack, when watching him play and seeing him back? Well, yeah, because he's a player I've sort of given a bit of stick to in the past. I think I called him a whinging, no, a whiny minge, I think I called him. Yeah. Something like that. The word minge was definitely in there. Petulant minge. Yeah, that's it. I don't mean that at all.

26:19What elicited that? I think it's because you see it mildly frustrated with Madison when he would get wound up by someone's antics or he would take a hit and roll around. And I think I would have been unhappy of us losing a game and decided to take that out on him when it's probably not. He's just game managing probably. But I take it all back because we need him desperately. Well, like you said, I think that's it. You know, I think whatever. I think I've always sort of complained about him being a bit inconsistent. Like we know how good he is, but he doesn't show it enough, whatever. But when you see, like you say, nightside last night, Like when he's clearly, well, I mean, he's definitely not match fit.

27:05He's probably not even fully physically fit at all. And just instantly just looked like our best player, didn't he? You know, he stepped onto the pitch and you're suddenly like, God, that's what we've been. With Kane gone, with Sonny gone, players of that certain quality. I'm not saying he's on their level, but he's the closest thing to their sort of level that we got. I mean, you know, Kulisevsky as well. Let's not forget him either. what a player yeah it's it's a relief it's a relief it's very nice but you know is it do you think we're going down I can see it I don't know what are you how are you feeling Jay are we up or down tell us how you feel I think I think West Ham get four points from these last two games I think West Ham get four points so we need two draws or one win as a minimum and that's four points we'll be two ahead of them won't we yeah Yeah.

27:59And I think that's going to be, I'm not saying it's beyond us. I think, you know, we've got to focus on what it is that De Zerbi said in his presser a couple of weeks ago, right? You know, don't write us off. Everyone else is writing us off. Don't do it yourself. And I think that's fair. I think he's earned our backing more than earned our backing, really, with the sort of performances Spurs have been putting in. Even last night, you know, even for a while, until Leeds got their goal and they sort of lost their arses again, that sort of old habit crept in. We were playing some lovely football, knocking the ball about.

28:33Great chances. Yeah. You know, and it's astonishing that De Zerbe's managed to turn it around like that. So, you know, yeah, it's not likely that we're going to get anything at Stamford Bridge, but it wasn't likely, you know, to the point that we were making, if somebody had said to you a couple of weeks ago, right, West Ham are going to get nothing, zero points from Brentford and Arsenal, and you're going to get four points from Leeds and Villa, we'd have taken that hands down any day of the week we would have taken that so you know i know it doesn't quite work that way like the context of the game the flow of it and everything it is disappointing last night to a degree but i guess we've just got to maintain that you know the eyes look this this is look i'll be honest a couple of weeks ago i thought before deserve it came in i thought we were gone i was like there's no there's no way we stay up whatsoever Now I'm like, it's, I think it's 50-50.

29:28I do right now. If I'm being brutally honest, I think it's 50-50.

29:35Rick, I think we're staying up. Good. Yeah. I think we will probably stay up and it's going to be the most uncomfortable and excruciating journey. It's horrible watching Spurs at the moment, isn't it? Yeah. Because you've seen the uptick. You've seen what the future could be, but it's... It's going to be one of those ones where West Ham go to Newcastle and win. We will go to Stamford Bridge and get a draw. And going into the last game, we're going to be level on points, but we'll be above them on goal difference. So we have to beat Everton. And I reckon Tottenham and West Ham will both lose their home games and will stay up because of our goal difference.

30:32But we are as shit as each other. And under the pressure, we'll both fucking will. What was it like in the ground yesterday, Rick? Atmosphere was great, man. Atmosphere was quality. Tifo, I'm going to admit, Not a big fan of the flame cannons that they have. It was nice because there was a bit of warmth every time the fire flew out. That was nice. But yeah, not a fan of that. Tifo looks great. Atmosphere, again, lots of singing, lots of getting behind the team. And when the team needed it, when we scored the goal, it fucking just went off. It was absolutely quality. and again when the when Leeds scored their penalty we started singing for Tottenham again and just you know got behind them the whole way I think a lot of people were very frustrated with the ref ref's decisions you could feel that and obviously everyone is you know super nervous man it's it's it's a tough watch it it really is when you when you're in there and you're trying to you be positive and trying to get the boys going and try and support them.

31:42But at the same time, where Leeds have pressed us, we've lost the ball and then they're on the attack and you're just like, oh, please don't do this, please. It was tough, man. But no, overall atmosphere is quality. Do you reckon... Sorry, go on, Jack. I was just going to say, do you reckon stay or go is going to be brutal after Everton? I mean, obviously if we go, it'll be... I shudder to think what it would be like in the ground. But I think even if we stay up, people aren't going to be happy, are they? And I think they're going to let the owners know. I think if we win and stay up, the short-term reaction will be pure elation.

32:20Yeah. But there needs to be some reconciliation about what's happened this year. And the people that have gone about making the decisions that have put us in this situation have to be held accountable. I don't know what that means because how do you hold the owners of the football club accountable? You can't. The owners, the business, it's not a membership. We don't vote on anything. A membership of our football club means absolutely nothing. They fucking know it because look at your card. It says client reference number on it. That's how important you are to them. How much money can you put into it?

32:57So it's about, I guess, continuing and building and protest.

33:04potentially there could be a positive out of it if we stay up because it would force yeah owners to be aggressive in the transfer market um deserve be we're essentially pinning all our hopes on on deserve his vision of the football club because he's going to be the one that makes the decisions can you imagine a langer challenging deserve be in a in a meeting room. So De Zerbi, I think, now becomes the most powerful man at the football club in terms of footballing decisions. And thank God, because the other two have been there. Like I keep saying, Venkatesham is a CEO. It's business. He doesn't lead the transfer policies here.

33:47It would be Langer doing that. It would have been Langer's decision not to sign someone in January or sign more players in January. Vengertesem does a much broader role at a much higher level. He needs to bring in a sporting director that can create a culture at the club or a manager that can do it. And Deserbi, you know, Deserbi's got the opportunity to do. Same as Pochettino would have brought in. You know, what was the culture when he was at the football club? And how it's gone so wrong since he was here? It was there because Pochettino was the culture. He set the standards. He set how players behave.

34:20If you don't like it, you're gone. You hate to say it, Arteta's done the same thing at Arsenal. The modern way of looking at football clubs are that you don't want a manager being the be-all and end-all because when he leaves, you've just got a vacuum, you've got a hole that needs to be filled. But right now, we don't have the...

34:42We're over a barrel. We have to give that over to the Zerbi and I don't have a problem with it. I've just watched the Madison penalty again. how that wasn't a penalty i just do not understand where is daredevil a minor don't miss the return of marvel television's daredevil born again so what's next i feel liberated we're gonna take this city back in an all new season now streaming only on disney plus they're hunting us it's time when we started hunting them. I can work with them. This should be tons of fun. Marvel Television's Daredevil Born Again now streaming only on Disney+. I really don't.

35:27Let's talk about something incredible and that's Kinski's two saves in that game. They might be up there with the best saves I've seen from a Tottenham goalkeeper in the modern era. I'm thinking maybe Lloris versus Leverkusen. Do you remember that one when he was going in and he managed to get his arm down? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. I don't know if you... The commentary didn't make big enough a deal about Kinski's first save when he got down to the left of a header from Cavalier. Oh no, Roden. Roden. Yeah. It was unbelievable for him to go through that, what he went through in Madrid, being pulled off.

36:04Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Hey. Hey. Put it up. Anyway. Doesn't help these quite young. Anyway. he's been taken off because of the performance and then and you think I thought he's never playing for Spurs again in fact this could harm his career significantly and for him to come in and obviously it was enforced but he was gone into the first team and he not only hasn't let us down he could have kept us in the league that's how big those two saves the second one was insane so in the ground first save obviously South Stand had a perfect view and where he got down to it. I cannot believe the speed in which Roden heads it.

36:51And Roden, he's a fucking brickhead, isn't he? He'll just smash that ball. He heads it, how he got down so quickly to it and then saving it. And you could see where he'd saved it, that it was over the line, but the ball wasn't fully over the line. You could see that he'd saved it and he'd saved it dead. And you were like, immediately, like your heart is in your mouth like fuck me like this is so early into the game and that's already happened and everyone's like looking at each other like fucking hell that was we've got off lightly there what that was an incredible save the second save i didn't see it all i saw was that um that you couldn't see it watching the telly you couldn't see it oh right okay just it hit it was it long stuff smashed it and then i heard the cannon off the crossbar and me and my dad just looked at each other like oh god oh god and then i've seen i've seen seen the replay now oh my lord like again i don't know how he did it with a reflect reflexes to fucking get his hand to that and push it onto the bar absolutely incredible man there was another save as well that um where leads were attacking on our right hand side second half and kinski came rushing out and got a block on it and again they're like one of those things where you can easily be like oh i'll just stay on my line i'll stay on my line but he came out and met it and like with that confidence from atletico he could be indecisive there was a couple of times where he had the ball at his feet and he He left it quite a bit late and I thought someone was going to get a toe on it.

38:33They didn't do it in the end. But he's just thinking, fucking hell, for such a young kid, he has been decisive in what he's doing and he's just going with it. So fair fucks to it, man. Any chance, any shout for him to be our number one next year, Jack? Yeah, I think definitely. I think he's more than earned the right to be in consideration for that. I think that if we stay up in the Premier League, there's going to be a lot of players that we need to bring in to make sure we don't have another season like this, right? Definitely more creative players, definitely more attacking talent in the team.

39:12So if we've already got a foundation in someone like Kinski there, great. Who else do you sign? I think he solves a problem. It'd be easier signing a backup goalkeeper than he can cut it in the Premier League his distribution is absolutely fine he's kicking his miles better than Vicario he solves he solves a problem we were in a situation where we had we're potentially having to go out and buy a new goalkeeper because Vicario is left or is leaving um instead of maybe Vickinski is number one maybe we're overblowing it because you know in the short term his performances have been really good but like you say mate like to come off you know the the same sort of thing ended Loris Karius's career.

39:56You know, it has done, you know, he's, he's, he's not done anything of note since then. And it's, you know, fair enough. I mean, it's a Champions League final. It's a bit different, but still, it's incredibly embarrassing thing that happened to Kinski. Like more, like that's, it's unbelievable. It's unbelievable. The strength of character. Yeah. It must take to come back for somebody so young to step up and do that. Imagine just doing your job anyway, in front of 60 ,000 people. you'd be you'd be a horrific there are people shouting at you do you know what I mean fucking loser fucking little blonde twig yeah did you see the post-match interview it was so it's Hainsey and who's I always forget the other guy's name Milesy yeah Milesy Milesy said to Zerby he's like Tony what a performance from him such a young man and to say who looked at him he's like sorry who who's Tony he's like kinski and he's like oh kinski yeah yeah yeah yeah kinski yeah yeah yeah cool yeah well his name his name's antonin isn't it yeah so you know he's not he can be up to speed um shout out marzy and uh ben haynes good good human beings um and tell you what else is bloody good lord vpn yes especially if you want private browsing i don't encrypted browsing when you're on public Wi-Fi.

41:22Do you want that? Yeah. You were actually quiet. Do you remember when we were all on a message board a long, long time ago? Me, Jack, and Ricky, along with many others. And it got hacked by some Muslim extremists once. And Ricky changed his name on the message board because he didn't want the Muslim terrorists to come and get him. Scared. I did run scared. Yeah, I did. Yeah. You changed his name to what, Ricky? Fucksticks. Yeah, which I mean, that would really, I mean, they have all of your information, right? They've hacked your computer and you thought changing it from your name to fuck sticks.

41:59Would that be the thing to stop the terrorists from getting you? We don't know who he is. We can't get him. It's just to say fuck sticks. He's changing his name to fuck sticks. How are we going to get him? Look at the history of his account. Okay, that's fine. I love the fact that you would have had this blind panic at like 2 a.m. in the morning on the board. because the message board literally changed to pictures of daggers and like black and Arabic writing. And I don't know what it might have said. Sort of Al-Aqbar or something. Maybe. Yeah. Anyway, yeah, Ricky panics and changed his name, which is funny.

42:34But if he had NordVPN, he wouldn't worry because he'd have encrypted internet. Also, you can change – with one subscription, you can put up to 10 devices. You can have them on the kid's phone. You don't want them on your kid's phone, do you, Ricky? Because what does NordVPN do very well? Gets around parental access. Yeah. So if you can get around parental access, the kids can get around parental access. Don't put it on their phones. Yeah. Yeah, just your phone. Yeah. Are you sick of, are you sick of, are you sick, like in your own house, of having to squirrel away into a toilet cubicle to fud one out.

43:18It's your house, Ricky. You should just go, right, I'm off for a wank, everyone. Don't come in the room.

43:26Do you remember how I used to think that you used to always masturbate, Rick? Yeah, I do, yeah. What, what? That I had to lay 180, like proper lay down 180 and be completely cloveless. 100 % naked. and you also had to spray out newspaper underneath your body.

43:51Lay straight, just lay down. That's the only way. Anyway, NordVPN.com forward slash the fighting cop. The link is in the description below. 30-day money-back guarantee. If you sign up now for a two-year plan, you get four months for free.

44:10I've got the two-year plan. Don't lie, Ricky. I've given you a free code. why are you lying to him no I have got I have got the two year plan I pay for it weirdly but do you yeah I've like it's like run out like do you know Jake if you're listening to this yeah NordVB he's a Spurs fan can I can you hook me up with why am I I mean surely I'm doing quid po crow innit give me give me some free internet shout out to the geezer at OpenAI who gave me a free pro version of ChatGPT mate I asked I asked if we could get you one, Rick, but it's like 200 quid a month. Yeah, I know. I know that. Yeah, so. What about the one further down on that?

44:51The little, the cheapy one, if you're listening. I'll take that. No, well, you've already fucking ruined your, you, so we've got a mate of ours. He'll be listening to this, James, right? And what was it? I'm not going to help you out here. No, I know you're not going to pass it. No, no, no. Buy stuff for playing that. Royal Albert Hall. And I'm like, oh, that's interesting. If we don't get tickets, in my brain, I'm going to ask James because James might be able to help us. Ricky didn't even wait for the tickets to go on sale. He just went straight away, James, can you get me tickets? Give me tickets.

45:30He's my mate, Ricky. He's my mate. I've met him more times than you, mate. I've not met him yet. Well, there you go. No, but hang on a second. I was having a beer with him a couple of weeks back. We're pals. Rick, as the leader of the podcast, obviously i'm his mate first just because you've been with him more anyway um did you think the performance over and all i thought it was fair i thought the result was probably fair i kind of felt spurs edged it um but there was it was essentially we had i would say we had an hour of that game with leads being relatively dangerous at times and then they had a really strong 20 minutes where they they capitalized and i thought i said to my that a few times during the second half and i know it's such an obvious thing to say but we need bodies we need to freshen this up why hasn't he made a decision why hasn't he brought on gray or barobar midfield why hasn't he done anything i was surprised he waited as long as he did but i'm almost hesitant to say that because i don't want to add to this narrative it's almost always you hear football fans when they're criticizing their manager it's like substitutions it's always substitutions why do you think he did wait so long when it looked like leads beginning to overrun us?

46:43I mean, you don't need the answer for that. It was confusing, wasn't it? Yeah. You're aware of it in the stadium? Yeah, I think I remember looking up and it was maybe 77 minutes and we hadn't made a sub, I believe. I might be wrong. It was about that, yeah. So it was very late and I was thinking that the game was starting to get away from us and it was just starting to go one way. So we needed to do something to change it. We needed to, we've had a lot of players that are coming back from injury and we needed to kind of wrestle back the momentum and stop kind of the pressure that leads to putting on us.

47:28And I just thought, where are the subs? Like, why haven't we brought anyone on? And I remember at the time thinking that, You know, sometimes if it's not broke, don't try and fix it. And at the time, we've got a stable team. They know their roles. They know what they're doing. They've been training all week. They're holding their own. We were still creating chances as well, especially the first half. And it started to kind of cool off. And I don't know whether he was just like, if I make too many changes, will it kind of unbalance it and tip it the other way? I don't know that's just a guess but I would have thought we would have been more on the front foot and change things earlier personally.

48:17Yeah I felt like we needed it and it felt like he didn't almost like I don't know I don't want to create narratives that are not there but it just felt like he waited too long we began to become overrun leads look fitter they look more brought into Farker and obviously what he's asking them to do and they for the fact they were safe it was almost like they were motivated by being a part of the storyline that sends Tottenham down I think we're going to have to deal with that a lot in the next if we go down the next year certainly the next two games Richarlison was a frustrating watch I don't think he was fit there was one moment in the second half where he was busting the gut to press a man down and then he ran back again and then he was fucked for like five minutes just saw him walking about I don't think there was rumours that he didn't train but I don't know he didn't look fit out there and also Solanke is unreliable so it's going to be a it's going to be the first port it's the most important thing I think we do this summer is sign a number nine who's worth worth his salt I think Solanke's out for the rest of the season now isn't he yeah I mean two games in it um Yeah, there was a ball in the first half, you know, flash against the front of the goal.

49:43And Richarlison, he didn't catch it that well. And it was quite a soft finish. Goalkeeper got down. It was a bad first touch as well. Remember that one early on in the second, first half and the ball was played in? Oh, God. Fucking hell. I literally, I remember just at that point, it was like, how is he Brazilian? I was like absolutely spitting feathers at that point. And then in the second half, another ball came in, very close range, and he just got over it or under it, and it spooned out. And it was like such a fucking poor miss as well. But like you said, was there rumours that he didn't train this week or something like that?

50:28He was suffering from an injury. And like you're saying, he looked at his brain out of his arse at times. And, you know, it's very, it's just a very kind of energy sapping to play that whole time if you've been injured. And psychologically, if you're, you know, down there, things get frustrating when it doesn't kind of pull off for you.

50:52But, yeah, we had like 16 corners or something like that. And I was like, one of them's got to go in. Richie, you've got to get your head on one of these. Someone has to get their head on one of these corners. No one did. No, 16 corners. There was, I think, 16 shots on goal. Three on target, off target. We had six blocked shots. We had the moment of magic in Matital. Other than that, it just didn't quite go in for us. And the thing is, the performance was a one-all game, a draw. I don't have any, you can't argue much against that. But if you, you know, if the ball goes into the net and, you know, you think about the game completely differently.

51:42Similarly, if Kinski hadn't made those two saves, all hell would have broken loose, but he did. And we didn't. So. It was such a weird game. Sorry, excuse me. It's such a weird game. The ball didn't feel like it was on the floor at all. It felt like the ball was either at knee height or either at head height. It was scrappy, wasn't it? We were just bouncing around and everyone was just trying to get on it. And everyone's so nervous and anxious to get on the ball. No one was like, we needed to be calmed down. Like, calm, bring the ball down. Like, start playing it, like just waiting. But it was such a frenetic pace in the middle that no one could really get hold of it.

52:21And when we did, it was just panic stations, really. I think controlling the game is difficult when you don't have the players that, We don't have technical players in midfield. We have runners. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think Gray's probably the most technical and he hasn't been playing. I think De Zorbi's been going for experience and players that can manage the game. But there isn't much technical about what we can do in midfield. So controlling a game is going to be difficult. Pressing and running, pushing, creating opportunities and creating errors, we can do that and that's why I think he's he's put Gallagher in a 10 I thought Gallagher did perfectly well yesterday he's put him in a 10 so we can if we don't have the creativity of James Madison or or Kudus or you know players that can change the game on their own then we can create opportunities by pressing as hard as we can you think about Villa the amount of times we turned them over in the first half you don't need James Madison if you're forcing them to lose the ball in their final third.

53:27You're going to create opportunities. But, and that's what we're going to have to do in the next two games. Be interesting. I'd be looking to Madison to not, obviously, we've got eight day, no, is it a week till Chelsea? Maybe using sparingly in that game and starting against Everton. Yeah. That'd do. Alright, Rick, I think that'll do for now, mate. Sound. Um... Up the spurs. Still believe, lads. I hope everyone out there is doing well. Yeah. It's going to be all right. Will it? Yeah. C-O-C-O-C-O Draw a whore when she don't see box Everybody wanna come and run it But they're funny like a dummy in the barbie of your mommy Ha ha Fighting cock and we don't give a shit Everybody knows flat baits a prick We can get a sticky and a mini suck and willy When you're getting grilly yeah you gotta bang the milly Bang bang

Spurs take a point at home to Leeds, and somehow that is only the second-worst thing to happen to Flav this weekend.

The lads pick through another deeply uncomfortable night in N17: Mathys Tel’s brilliant goal, his controversial high-foot penalty incident, VAR once again sucking the joy out of football, and James Maddison’s long-awaited return reminding everyone exactly what Spurs have been missing. There’s also huge praise for Kinsky after two outrageous saves, a nervous look at the relegation run-in, and the usual emotional spiral about whether Tottenham are actually going to survive.

Flav suffers a personal disaster on the sofa, Ricky explains the terror of West Ham’s remaining fixtures, Jack flirts with Premier League conspiracy theory, and the NordVPN ad read goes somewhere no sponsor could reasonably have expected.

Spurs are unbeaten in four. Spurs are also in trouble. Both things are somehow true.
