In short
Tottenham Hotspur’s relegation survival and the emotional “relief” after a tense win, plus debate about manager Roberto De Zerbi’s impact and what Spurs should do in the summer transfer window.
Guest backgrounds
No guest identities are provided in the transcript; it’s a fan-hosted discussion with multiple speakers (e.g., “Cal” and “T”).
Key claims
De Zerbi “galvanized” the team (cited as roughly 10 points from 11 games, with a run of 3 wins, 2 draws in 7). Fans helped heal the fractured relationship with players, including the team-bus demonstration. The win was “mid-table” performance but enough to stay up; relief is the dominant emotion. Key survival contributors: goalkeeper Kinski (world-class saves, ball-playing fit for De Zerbi) and Paulinho (leadership, goals, and game-saving contributions). Criticism of celebrating the winning goal is dismissed as “celebration police”/social media bias.
Notable examples
South Stand eruption after the goal; De Zerbi standing arm-in-arm with players (Archie Gray, James Madison). Kinski’s reflex save(s) and a left-side header save vs Leeds/Calvert-Lewin/Amad? (unclear). Paulinho’s scissor-kick goals and a Wolves-related match moment. Discussion of Everton needing two goals, and Kinski’s late save.

32It's the fighting. Cock. It's the fighting.
40It's the fighting. Cock. Oh, come on. Don't you know, pump it up. This person's staying up. Don't you know, pump it up. Mate, we are fucking staying up. I'm exhausted. I've got to be honest, boys. I'm like, I've woken up today and I felt like, I feel like half a human being. I just exhausted. Even I'm coming down with something. Yesterday was such a stress. It was such a stressful 90 minutes. 900 minutes. It's taking something out of me. I'm so relieved. I feel like my body's going, okay, you can relax now. And if you're going to relax, we're going to make you ill. It reminds me of Muhammad Ali after the thriller with Manila.
28I think that almost killed a pair of them. and I feel like, you know, you're never the same fighter again. I feel like I'm not the same spurs fan again. After having to, you know, me and Carl got the same train back and having to endure lots of them just made me even more exhausted. I just got on this like, I just want to sit down. And then there was a point after my social battery just went to zero. I thought I've got to get out of it. I need to go home. I just had no more socializing left. as needed to be in a dark room and just try and process what the fuck just happened. What happened, Joe?
05Fucking did it, didn't we? Fucking did it! Fucking did it, boy! Hey! Did we do it? Yes. Correct answer. Yes, we did it. Did West Ham do it? No. No. They didn't. They didn't do anything. They are the mangled family in the Prius. That is what they are. And me and Tia standing on the bonnet, spitting, and a helicopter in our willies around. That's what's happening there. We fucking did it. And do you know what? Football is about moments. And we're going to get onto the conversation about the club and long-term all that bullshit. But you have to enjoy the moments. And it wasn't the situation we wanted to be in, but it was a fucking lovely day out with the boys.
45Some was out. And we got to see Spurs win a home game and for us to fucking stay in the league and avoid disaster stuff because it's been it's been a tough a horrible horrible season for all of us really and we've had to walk around with our kind of heads down a little bit i felt that way anyway heads down a little bit not really wanting to talk about football not really wanting to think about it but now we can enjoy the summer we can enjoy the world cup we can enjoy the summer fucking puff our chests out a bit remember who we are remember who we are fucking tottenham ottsburgh massive massive football club this is gotta start remembering that well this is what De Zerbi is coming and done.
23He's made us remember that. I don't know if you've seen the footage afterwards of him and the journalist. There was one journalist who said he didn't believe that De Zerbi could do it. And he called him out afterwards. He went, that man, remember he was negative about me. I just want to hug him now. And there was a moment when De Zerbi was standing in front of the south stand. And all were seeing Owen the Spurs. And he was looking there. And you could see the players were kind of mesmerized by him. and this is a season where there is it's never been as fractured the relationship between the fans and the players and someone somewhere where it's collective where it's organic or it's a collective effort or a combination of all these things of fan groups coming together they decided at some point it was like we can't then this rift needs to be healed we cannot stay up if we hate each other the players seem to hate us they were frustrated frustrated probably the word we were definitely frustrated at them and there was need there needed to be this fixing of it and and it to the credit of the fans and the credit of the players who have genuinely turned it around he's had was it 10 points from 11 no 11 points from his game three wins two draws from seven games in the state we were in they've definitely you know they've definitely you know him coming in has galvanized the team, but he's definitely had a massively positive impact on the players.
49But there was a point, and I don't know when it was, it was probably between, it was between the Atletico Madrid game, or maybe the Liverpool game, and Forest, where they met the bus. And there's been lots of conversation about whether or not that was the right thing to do. It doesn't matter, right? The fact is, it was a demonstration to the players that we're all behind you. we cannot you you guys are the only can only people who can do it it's a bit like when a cat brings a mangled bird to you like look look what i've done for you i fucking love you i don't want a mangled bird i don't want a mangled bird the fans are like making them nervous you know just all coming out of our droves you make us more nervous don't do this look what i fucking brought you
35cats are a bit like that they just leave this carcass on your lap and go there you go i love you so you're happy now we're all happy yeah i don't know i've got to do something with this man called bird now yeah that's great um and and and and none more so did it did it play out when the players gave everything yesterday it wasn't sterling performance it was a good performance it was okay right it was a mid-table performance but it didn't matter we did what we needed to do deserve you made the right decisions although i was screaming in screaming at him about i saw everyone was about 70 really got about 77 maybe then when the first subs come in and i'm like we're starting to get overrun please bring some players on yeah i felt like it was very late yeah yeah but whatever it is you know he kept a clean sheet and and we won and just the end of this bit where he's just standing if you've seen the footage he's standing in front and actually i think you have because cow you liked it like a little girl um i was in i was in the stand when he did it uh i stayed i stayed there yeah that's on instagram yeah did i i like that one yeah it's funny because i fucking i uh like i said on the last pod i unfollowed the club and i unfollowed every player in spite play back in i've followed the club i'm not following any of the players yet we've still got a bit of work to do i'm still think we should probably sell 10 of them but what was it like in that south stand when you look at the players are watching amazing like i just decided to like afterwards a slight little confession here from 95 minutes i was wiping my eyes i was like this like wiping tears from my eyes from 95 minutes because i was like this is just too much it was just so it was spooky made the point afterwards it was exactly the same as the europa league final the emotion i mean it was exactly the same um you're just waiting for this thing to happen so you can and this again that on that occasion it was about it was about joy and achieving something.
35This, the emotion was about relief, but the feeling leading up to it was the same. But yeah, afterwards I decided to just stand there and just watch a few of the songs were playing and all the fans were coming over. Pedro Barro's fucking lining up the crowd. He's a great character. He has a love-hate fans, a love-hate thing with supporters, but I do love him as a player and as a character. But yeah, De Zerbe just stood there and Archie Gray and James Madison as well, just standing there arm-in-arm watching the South Stand 17 ,000 sing I win the Spurs. It was brilliant. I mean, you just see in these moments, these clutch moments of Spurs, what a massive, passionate and incredible football club we are.
12And I guess all we ask is, and it takes moments, right? It takes things like this to bring that out. It takes cup finals and it takes, you know, huge jeopardation to bring that out. I loved all the white shirts. I'm not usually a fan of that. I like everyone wearing white. It looked great inside the stadium. and it shows unity, doesn't it? It's not just about turning up and wearing a piece of white cloth, but visually, optically from the players, it shows what you're laughing at. What clothes did you wear yesterday, T? I wore black paint. Just let me open the final.
50Is there a request to wear white? I don't think there was, no. But you just thought, what? I hate everything. I hope everything bad in the world happens to you and you only. Is that the kind of energy? There's an element of laziness. I couldn't be bothered to iron my white T-shirt. So I chose to. But yeah, a lot of people were wearing white. It's fucking hot as well. But as I said in the group, the noise when that goal went in, I don't think I've heard that noise in that stadium ever. It felt like the floor was shaking. Just absolute carnage. And it felt a little bit like the fans weren't really getting into it in terms of stinging them back in the clubs.
28So when the game was over, hearing that I would have found you a great throwback, because sometimes you're kind of, the way the stadium is kind of laid out in the south stand, sometimes you feel like they're not singing, and then you hear after that they are singing, so it's just like it doesn't carry you across the entire stand. But yeah, I think the injury time, when I said nine years, I was like, for fuck's sake. And then the delayed second half, I thought everyone else was delayed at the same time. Thank God for the internet now, because if this was like 1985, I'd be like, okay, sure this is happening to everyone else.
55And you hear that, we're something like five minutes ahead of us. And we're hearing news of their goals going in. I don't think we created another chance after we scored our goal. It was this very, very, very tense game. But I think we did just enough to get over the line. And I think Deserby's, hopefully, you know, Deserby's legacy will be more than just that. But I just think he's just created such a matter of turn. He just says all the right things, even as he joined, you know, all the bollocks around what happened to him at Marseille. and he's handled everything picture perfect so far so fair play to him.
31Do you know we have three more points this season than we had last season? I heard that. And West Ham have got like I think they've got the highest amount of points of relegated teams like twice now in the top five. Yes, the only team has been relegated with this number of points is West Ham. I love their muted celebrations at 3-0 Callum Wilson's got a screamer and the reaction was hey because we've got Everton need to fucking score two goals it's weird isn't it because you think like Everton really didn't create anything that would suggest that they were going to score for two goals it was just the idea of so I made this joke the other day about what it's going to feel like at West Ham winning and we get to 85 minutes and it's won all yeah Kinski made that save on 85 minutes I think wait I'm not no joking Kinski has kept us in this league absolutely without question it's got to be the biggest redemption arc ever and there was that story in January wasn't there about us doing a loan swap with West Ham's keeper yeah and Kinski perhaps going out.
52People are like, yeah, maybe, yeah, maybe. But Kinski's come in and he's had that game against Atletico Madrid and it was a shocker when we were at our lowest ebb. And yeah, he had a shocker performance, hooked after whatever it was, 17 minutes or something. And then he's just come into the team after Vicario's had to have surgery. He's been brilliant. He's been brilliant. He's a much better fit anyway as a goalkeeper for the team. vicario cannot use the ball even a fraction as good as kinski is so much calmer on the ball left foot right foot use uses both feet so well and the thing the only thing really that i could although i've been saying that vicario is any good at is that he would occasionally put out a blinding save every other factor of him being a goalkeeper he's fucking terrible he's an awful goalkeeper yeah but kinski has made some brilliant saves like unbelievable give the kid a new contract yeah 100 without question the the the header down who is it against he made that header leeds yeah was it calvert-lewin it might have been him or ampidoo one of them um yeah and it was ampidoo i think and he just gets down to his left and at the time i was like that is a world-class save that could have kept in the vision in the same game he made an even better one a reflex That was another player.
12I thought it just hit the bar. Same, same. His hand up to the bar. Without him, we'd be down. We would 100 % be down. Are we talking like he... Is it too early to say... It would be a bit unfair on him to downgrade him now to back up goalkeeper again. I think he would probably be looking for some sort of assurances that he's our number one. I know how important ball-playing goalkeepers are to De Zerbi in these systems previously. I just think he has one there. Yeah, absolutely. I don't think you can guarantee anyone being first choice unless you're like some sort of Mbappe elite-level footballer.
52So I think we should still... I think it's something we need to address. And Kyle said it himself. It's more... I know we hate the word profile, but he has the right profile for what De Zerbi wants to do. and if you are going to get another goalkeeper, they have to be really, really good with their feet. It just changes everything. I've been critical of Danzo with the ball at his feet and yesterday it did make me nervous with the ball at his feet. But to be fair to him, he was probably one of the better players yesterday in terms of just being brave and putting his head where it needed to be. I just think we need to be, any defenders we're going to buy and I have to be good with the ball at their feet because it just felt like, because even the XG from Everton was so low and that's not because we defend, not just because we defended Latre, just because we had the ball at our feet in the vent, we were drawing their players on, knocking the ball over them and all these things will make a huge difference next season, I feel.
47What did you make? Yeah, I agree with you. I've got nothing else to add. I think Kinski's just, he's just in football or in any walk of life, if you do, if you significantly perform, then you should be rewarded. The only reason why Kinski doesn't start as number one next season, there's a massive opportunity to sign a world-class goalkeeper, which is unlikely, given the other work that needs to be done in the squad. Because he deserves to. I just think spending 30 million. Say he spent 30 million on a goalkeeper out of the budget we've got. I just don't think that's... I don't think that's necessary at all.
23I imagine in the summer we're going to do transfer window stuff and all of that. But for me, it's creative midfielders and attackers. I'd leave the rest of the team. We've got all the six... We've got a six. We've got plenty of eights. We need to sell a few of them. It's all about the attack. The last thing we need to do is spend money on a goalkeeper when Kinski's been brilliant. Yeah. And again, another player we wouldn't have stayed up without was Paulina. Yes. Yes, fair fucking play to him. I mean, the Wolves game yesterday, obviously. A couple of scissor kicks in there as well, wasn't there?
57Was that? A couple of scissor kicks in there in the season. Oh, God, yeah. I don't know if this is right, but I said it this morning like I think he scored like six goals for Spurs this year the five of them must have been like important either match saving goals or winning goals I know who is it we drew one all with Wolves Wolves and he hit this beautiful shot there was that there was there was a Wolves away I think he's called a coach of Bournemouth where he lost obviously yeah so yeah I get people's frustrations of him I understand it did look awkward at times when he was receiving the ball in midfield on the left-hand side of the three.
37I can understand why you'd perhaps want someone who was better with the ball at their feet. That might be preferences that people have. And if you want to build going forward, maybe Paulinho won't be a massive part of this team two years from now. But the personality, the drive, the leadership, by example, he's everything you need to survive, clearly. And this is the first evidence of having to watch legitimately a Spurs side that could go down in the final game of the season. It's people like him you need in that dressing room right now, as Deserbi has said. That's a young squad as well. That's a young squad for the young players.
18And I think in recent weeks, we've looked to the bench and you think, who are you bringing on? Who are you bringing on? I think next season, having players like that with experience that you can either start or bring on is so important. Like I said, it's such a young squad. We need some experienced guys in there, pros in there that have been there and done it before. He's 100 % been our player of the year. I think he's brilliant. And just at the time, I remember yesterday, Everton, they had like a spell of possession, a little bit of pressure on that. And I think him and Colin Gannigan kind of crowded around the player.
53And Pauline has come away with the ball and then just drew a foul. and just bought us 30 seconds. Like, I think he's great. 100 % we should sign him. I know Deserby definitely wants to keep him. Yeah, it just seems like a sensible thing to do. T, what do you think? Yeah, I completely agree. I mean, we've had... I think we kept Tel and Danzo, who were on loan initially. I think this time, man, this is a little bit different. I mean, I think Colin Morani's gone. I don't think we're going to get him, but I think Palina makes the most sense. But as Cal says, we can keep him and get the profile of the player that we want, you know, because I think, I don't know if Palina will play, well, provided we qualify for Europe next season, I don't think he'll be as best as a player 60 games the following season.
39So having him in the squad to just fill in, he can play at the back as well. For me, it's a no-brainer with his experience and his eye for goal as well.
50What do you think of the kind of noise around Spurs over celebrating that goal, Palina? So I think you've seen this. It's sort of like people are saying they've got second-hand embarrassment because of how mental the Spurs fans are. The players went, rather. And if you've seen the celebration since, by the way, they're amazing. Romero in the middle of it all, funnily enough. I expected it. And if a club of our size was in a relegation fight and we weren't in it, I'd say the same because you say stuff that will hurt people. You're not saying it because you necessarily mean. A lot of the stuff that's said online, people don't really mean if you really dig deep into it.
24It's the same. I do it to Arsenal fans all the time. Yeah. Yeah, but it's not coming from just Arsenal fans. It's coming from, you know, I think Gary Neville has been saying stuff as well. And it's not something, it's something that's come to the territory. I mean, you've got the celebration police. I mean, I've been doing it all season because we've had nothing to celebrate. So anyone else who celebrates anything, we're like, fuck you, don't celebrate that. It's nothing. It's nothing. Be better. Enjoy it. Exactly. Just be sad like me. But that's to be expected. And even the scenes after the game, people are coming coming after us for that and I don't care all that matters is I'm just so I'm just so self-absorbed in our season and what's happened I just didn't care I mean even and I'm sorry to bring up again for that even the journey home I just thought I don't care no one else can say anything that can make me feel like I just feel the relief and just the outpouring I just feel good that was able to let that let that all out in the end really in the stadium when the ball went over the line because it looked like from the pitch it looked like it did immediately but in the stadium we can't tell can you what what what point did you go it was it just you watching waiting for the referee cow what was it like and what was the explosion like in the stadium yeah it was it's the opposite end to where me and he were both sat we weren't sat together but we were both in the south and so it's the opposite end so it's hard to kind of see what had happened but it looked like even from the opposite end of the stadium it looked like it had gone in and yeah the south the whole stadium just absolutely erupted personally i didn't move just because vase just fucking scarred me for life so i just kind of just i just stood there and just like okay okay okay let's get through the bar check follow-up would have counted as well so that's it yeah yeah and i've watched it 10 or 12 times now and yeah you're right yeah you gotta fucking enjoy these things right you gotta enjoy it you have to you have to enjoy moments like that and uh yeah even with the celebrate like your celebration police it's like football's about moments man if you can't enjoy off only our third home win of the season and what the fuck can you enjoy like it's crazy but yeah just it did it absolutely erupted in there and you know there was a lot of conjecture yesterday around tottenham fans and um that the times report are basically saying it's all our fault that um that we're in this mess and what what what happened alison ruddy writes for the time she's a liverpool supporter uh that's the good thing about the sunday supplement that used to be on sky sports years and years ago i used to watch that every week i thought it was really good but you found out who they all supported it was really good henry witton sports chelsea sam wallace supports chelsea martin lipton supports tottenham martin samuel supports west ham you know they all support now they try and hide it they were trying to hide it but all the biases are there they're all there and what did she say it's she said basically it was our fault that the reason that Tottenham are in this mess is it's our fault just just beyond stupid you deservedly referenced it Angela Rudd Alison Alison Rudd Alison with a Y yeah but yeah I think even deservedly referenced it what she said yeah she said in essence and then she's doubled downed on it after the game basically how can it be our fault what the fuck are you on about just all the noise that we've traded around the place and what what bit is it the the complaining or uh what is it the the showing up in in our droves to support the team outside what was it all of those things it's just all of it yeah it's all our fault but the thing is earlier in the season we and i think that was the the frustrating thing for a lot of us and i remember we spoke about this on five statements a few times that people were coming to tottenham and beating us in second gear yeah they didn't even have to try you think about that villa game in the fa cup they just turned up to beat us no wonder we were quiet as a fan base we had absolutely no hope and then with with thomas frank who's has a fantastic pr team like no one seems to give him any blame at all yeah and then igor tudor who's even worse than him and the reaction and t said in very early state very early years of the fighting cock that we are a reactive fan base we are we're not an Everton that that kind of just makes noise or whatever we are reactive and we did react to what we were seeing which was shit which was absolute shit and I stopped going I didn't go for six months I went to the West Ham game and then I didn't go again until the Leeds game um but when Dezerbi came in and you saw the players fight for the fucking shirt and play for the shirt and play to win and play with an intensity you saw how as well as what all the fan groups did and all just the supporters as a whole.
06It turned up. The idea that it's in any way supporters fault is fucking stupid, to be honest. But yeah, just pleased to have got it done. Yeah. Yeah. Just wanted to stop the... 27:23That's why when you drink Jägermeister, you drink it ice cold. Anything else? Well, that'd just be bad luck. Drink it cold or don't drink it at all. Jägermeister. Damn, that's cold. 27:43Our yoga instructor challenged us to find inner peace. I found it faster than anyone. After four seconds, I stood up and screamed, I found Nirvana. I win. They asked me to leave. All the players jumping in. all the narrative around Romero.
21Literally, as of two days ago, I was like, Romero should be sold immediately. If he's going to watch a fucking football match from his boyhood club in Argentina, instead of being there, turns out perhaps it was all along just a plan to come back. Maybe his decision to leave didn't go down too well, but he was always going to come back. And yeah, you just saw the togetherness. You saw how much it meant to them. And like you said, So you mentioned about the sort of criticism you get from fans on social media. It's just what they do. And I can understand that this is going to be upsetting for a lot of fans.
58Yeah. The whole footballing world wanted to talk them to go down. They wanted it. They were desperate for it. I don't know where I've spoken about this. Maybe it's just in the WhatsApp group. Or maybe I've spoken about it on Friday. I'm not sure. I went to pick up some shopping the other day. Went to the supermarket. There's a pub called the White Bear. opposite a bunch of lads with their missus all drinking it's a nice sunny day having a good time and i was walking across the road and i heard flab and i thought it'd be my mate glenn if he's mates because he lives in town it wasn't it was people i didn't recognize i didn't know who they were but they may have watched the overlap or something going you're going down tomorrow and i'm like right yeah what would i do here right so i just sort of nod and i just sort of roll my eyes and then just get into get into my uh car and i was like i'm not gonna fucking down yeah who's down now can't
55fucker you nicked my joke sorry did I do that again fuck who's down now who's down now there was this guy on the high road yesterday Arsenal JVC shirt walking through walking through the crowd has gone into the barbers, tried to give it beans in there, then walked to this cafe and then he got fucking ran off by a load of Tottenham. He had to get a police escort back to his car. It was brilliant. Great stuff to see. I was going to say, you deserve a clump. You deserved it. In fact, it's like a dickhead. There's footage of, I think it was,
33it was a, an Everton fan. Barry's brothers are all arsehole. We know Everton, Barry, the forward. his brothers were they're all Arsenal fans and he's got tickets in the Everton end when Arsenal were playing Everton who's thinking like there must be someone in going this ain't a good idea they've started celebrating and they've got clumped nice nice I heard that yesterday was quite punchy actually I don't think I mean we didn't see a lot of it we heard police sirens and stuff but because there's a few spurs no not spurs and spurs like lots of arsenal because there's a few arsenal fans dotted around tottenham like walking around in their shirts and generally no one's going to give you any any aggro if you just mind you should expect something you should expect something you expect a bit of banter but generally in my experience nothing generally happens but i think yesterday a few times that shit did happen because they were everywhere they were like cockroaches man and um even on our train they were like because we've got to get the train past Frindery Park and Hydeby and Islington.
40And I don't know if they had some sort of watch along in Hydeby or Frindery Park. And they all piled on the train and were like, you know, screaming the army and singing their songs. And yeah, I did get a bit of punch. And I said in the WhatsApp group that next season's derby could be one of the roughest in a number of years because obviously their champions are really just angry. And yeah, I expect a few punch-ups. Yeah, if you're wearing an Arsenal shirt in Tottenham on this day, when we could get relegated, you without question deserve to be filled in. That is sometimes actions and consequences.

19Actions and consequences. I don't disagree. Yeah, 100%. I don't wear colours to a football match. You just, I don't. People do, home games, it's fine. I don't, I don't. You're not playing here. Arsenal are not playing. It's not Spurs Arsenal. Like, if you wear an Arsenal shirt on a North London derby, that's fine, right? fight, whatever. But when you're not playing and you're coming into the area and you know what you're doing, you're gloating, should you be stamped on? There are consequences for that. This is, it's a real rivalry. If you get stumped out, it's your own fault. No one should be calling the police.
55No one should be charged. Twats. Let me say this to you. Connor Gallagher, the quiet engine that doesn't get the credit. Is it fair? I don't know what sort of engine that is maybe a 1.2 1.2 1.8 good to go good to go with the choke to start a fucking car he was alright he's not a number 10 but I think the Villa goal kind of changed perceptions of him I mean again much like Mati's tell he's been told he's been put out there and he's got to do a job I don't think it's his ideal role in the team, being the number 10, having to create stuff, but I think he was quietly effective yesterday and hopefully with the players that we buy over the summer and maybe Madison was only for the team maybe we'll see better of him than we've seen so far.
50For sure. What about you, Cal? Are you going to apologise? I don't remember really diving in on him really. No, I'm not going to. I wasn't sure who, I was just assuming anybody. I think, yeah, I think a lot. I think if I was frustrated, it was because he's the same profile, T's word, as a lot of other players. Another number eight. We've got five or six of them. And again, in the summer, we'll probably be doing podcasts about the squad and what we're going to do with it because we do have five or six number eights and we need to properly trim two or three of them. But I think, again, he's actually probably one of the better examples of reacting since De Zerbi's coming.
30I mean, he's really bought in. He's really bought into it because we didn't really see this Conor Gallagher when Thomas Frank was there and when Tudor was there. But once De Zerbe's come in, it's just all action, get stuck in. He's been very much one of our better players in the last few games, definitely. Yeah, I just think it's that, again, it's about energy. It's about being accountable. It's about showing up and not hiding. And he didn't do any of that. And I think there's no surprise that the team, the midfield that the Zerbi has chosen is ones with experience and leadership and desire rather than the sort of youthful enthusiasm and borderline brilliance of Bervaou and Gray.
15But in this moment, it wasn't about that. Staying up isn't done like that. and the irony there is that Tudor was playing Berval and Gray Wrigley I'm 100 % coming down I can feel it so yeah it was great he deserves he was a massive part of why we stood up and an example for us to follow and I know he's not a 10 in the traditional sense like Madison and Javi Simmonds are but in terms of a pressing you want to put a high press in he doesn't do a bad job there at all if you don't have the technical creativity to open up a defence you have the guile and determination to force mistakes by the opposition and create chances from it Any other take-homes you had from the game yesterday?
09Colin Mulani should not set foot in this country again I mean obviously there's mitigated circumstances, he's playing out wide and he's playing out of position. But it just reminds me of Adebayor once he got his contract and that he just wasn't pressing. And it was a game where we just needed that energy, even if it's not technically brilliant, we just needed that pressure on their defenders because they're not that great on the ball. And it just felt like, because he came up, Richarlison came up for him, didn't he? And Richarlison, as bad as he played, he was at least pressing their defenders and just lost a bit of that with Colin Morani.
46I thought Poirot was really good. I liked Jed Spence in a more attacking role.
54Udogli's been quietly okay, but I've always liked Udogli. There's probably a bit of bias there, but I thought he was pretty good yesterday as well. And Van de Ven's been quietly very, very good as well at centre-back. I think he got sent off against Crystal Palace and I thought, fuck you, man, because he looked like he didn't give a shit at that point and he was suspended for a couple of games after that as well and I thought, oh, fuck off. And since De Zerbe's coming, he's just been, he's been given the arm, Ben, and he's just been, just been solid and fair play to him and he wants to stay. Yeah, he does.
32It's funny, I just don't know, Gary Neville just said some mental stuff and he was just talking about Everton. He said, there isn't a club on the fucking planet that you'd want to play more than Everton in this situation. No respect for Evan. That's all in the UAE.
53So it does give off real bitter energy, doesn't it? Why does he... Everyone was desperate for us to go down. This is where it's coming from. I love the fact that Roy Keane just kept going. Yeah, they're not going down. They're staying up. I loved that so much. Because I didn't believe him. I didn't agree with him at the time. I was like, are you sure, mate? But I was like, fair play. What did he see? he was just like yeah put your mortgage on it yeah but they're staying up and I'm like I don't see this at least when he went early as well yes because there were genuinely periods in this season that I just thought like the the Fulham game I was really worried yes that was horrendous and you know you're talking about the the 4-4-2 a team that just been it looked like we'd given up you're playing with Charleston and Solanke together up top, I think, in that game.
47And you're playing Gallagher on the right-hand side of a 4-4-2, and you're like... And they just look lost. And I'm like, oh, my God. And that was, what, February? Something like that. Yeah, February, March time, yeah. I was like, oh, my God, we're down. This is it. And my step-mum, she kept saying, I told you about Valérie, right? She was right in the end. She did say, back then, don't worry, they're not going down, they're not going down. Bearing in mind, she wasn't even watching the screen. when she said it, but she did get it right. And God bless her. But I just thought we were dead and buried in this whole three months, four months for all of us has been agonizingly painful.
27You know, football is supposed to be a relief. And for a lot of fans, it is. To be a football club the size of Tottenham, and we've had zero training in dealing with a situation like this, every single game, certainly since the Zerbi turned up has felt like this is a must win and obviously you're not going to win them all but every minute has been agonising and you forget that it's supposed to be fun, football sometimes when we won, who did we beat? 2-1, Villa yeah we beat Villa and we come away from that and go oh fuck, football can feel good rather than just miserable this isn't just too this isn't this season, this is the season before every single league game was hell as shit we were getting battered over and over again last season i know we prioritized the league cup get it but sorry the um europa league but it was just it's been agonizing there were periods under conte and tiny periods under marino where you felt like we might be moving in the right direction but largely quite stressful experiences you had the nuno bit And then the latter part of Pochettino's team, we've been really moving backwards for five years, more or less, overall.
46Yeah, since this whole decade, it's just been a car crash. I mean, even Pochettino's first season, I think after Christmas, we were shit. We were losing game after game. We hung on for fifth place. Should have had fourth place, really. And then the last two seasons, we've had back-to-back 70th place finishes. We've had all these conundrums. like I don't know whether you finish 17th and have this happen whether you finish 17th and have that happen and we've lived we've lived all those conundrums and we don't want any more of them absolutely fucking not no we've done it now yeah that's it it's been done no fucking about it's not fun and um and I think someone said that if you extrapolate the Zerbi's reign over the whole season we'd have been fifth in the league so that's a positive oh really yeah so um that's good we have a shit squad as well yeah half-brows on this one.
36My take, which I didn't want to share in the chat, I didn't want to get jumped on, is that I don't think De Zerbe is going to be here this time next season because I don't have faith in Enoch doing the right thing. If De Zerbe is still at the club, when the season's over next season, then we know we are moving in the right direction. If he gets pissed off like Conte, which he's liable to do, as I've not been back, and you're a whole bunch of cunts, then he might walk by Christmas. But if he's still there this time next season, then I think, yeah, we are going to be, hashtag back Yeah I think you're probably right the biggest concern at the moment is Enoch and the biggest concern is what decisions they'll make and are they able to make the right decisions, they know their arse on their elbow when it comes to running a football club Expedia and Visit Scotland invite you to come experience the beauty that awaits in Scotland the sweep of wild coastlines, quiet locks and untamed landscapes Fresh cuisine that feels rooted in the land.

Zootopia 2, now available on Disney Plus Rated PG. So in these situations, I tend to move towards a more optimistic side of things. and I would look at the notes that Ben Katesham wrote in the programme before the West Ham game saying that we are going to do these things.
58We are going to change the wage structure. There is going to be investment in the squad.
06And I assume that we are going to be more proactive and all we can do at the moment is be sceptical but accept that he may be telling the truth. I think while they were criticized for selling Brendan Johnson, Brendan Johnson, before the transfer window opened, pretty much the 1st of January, it was done. For 35 million, for me, it was mental money for someone as average as he is. I thought that was a good sign. I know people were saying we didn't get a replacement in, but he was never good enough. And if we had the opportunity to sign for 35 million, we should have done. And then the signing of Senisi.
52So it looks like that's done now. So four-year deal will be on the lead. That's quick. And to believe, Andy Robinson's coming through the door as well. That is proactive. That is getting business done early and it means you can build. Are they the solution to the situation that we find ourselves in? Probably not. But are they good? Certainly Andy Robinson in terms of his experience and bringing leadership to a dressing room. You know, Henderson is going to a World Cup because of his leadership. That's how important these managers consider these attributes to be. So there are signs that things have changed at Spurs and they're being a little bit more proactive.
31There's two things you can assume about the Lewis family. One, and about Daniel Levy's swift departure, because that wasn't planned out, it didn't seem. It seemed it was reactive and it seemed like they just wanted Daniel Levy as far away from the club as possible. I would say that was because Daniel Levy was preventing sales or moving the goalposts. If you listen to our podcast with Steve Nash, we asked him about him being involved in consortiums to take over Spurs. And he said that he said, go and listen to the podcast if you want to hear his words verbatim, but he said along the lines of, you know, Daniel Levy was part of the problem why Spurs weren't being bought or hadn't been sold.
11So maybe the Lewis family need that to happen. Or maybe they were frustrated with his inactivity and his lack of zeal in the transfer market. Who knows what the truth is? This summer, we'll learn a lot about what the Lewis family plan to do and what the VN Concession plans to do and whether they're people of their word. I think the Zerbi could just be the one that turns everything around. I think hiring I don't know if Vecatation was involved in us getting Thomas Frank but that was I think having a pragmatic manager to replace Poster Cogli was awful Igor Tudor was Paratici's farewell and that went badly but maybe us moving heaven and earth to get Deserby in and to be fair I'm not going to sit here and say yeah I was 100 % behind that move but it looks like it was the best move we could possibly have made and maybe that could be the thing that turns everything around that could be the real sliding doors moment for our club.
10And that might make everything a lot better because I think the idea was that we're going to keep Igor Trudy, keep us up to the end of the season. Poitier comes in, everything's hunky-dory. But at least now we've got a manager in. He said from nine o 'clock yesterday evening, I'm going to start building for next season. And if you're a player and want to join a club and you've got that in place, then you're going to want to join us. So we've got a hope that that plays a part as well. well and also in terms of convincing players to come to Tottenham when Deserby's in the room with you that's a big difference from Langer being in the room with you massively oh that said if this Bournemouth lad did agree to sign provided we stay up it's an easy that's a big coup because Liverpool and Chelsea wanted to buy him too yeah yeah exactly it's a massive coup and even Andy Robertson wanted to come I mean he's he could join any club.
05I think I'll let Akumadrila be interested in him as well. Maybe he wanted to stay in the UK. Maybe that was a factor as well. But the fact that he was happy to come in spite of the shit show that the club is and maybe he's been given us some sort of remit. Like, look, you know what? You're going to be one of the senior leadership team regardless of who's the manager. And maybe that's what he wanted, you know? He's literally seen it all and I fucking hate him as an opponent. That's the sort of player that he loved to sign. Players he just hated playing against. and I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do at Spurs.
36And he's a player that uses the ball well and that's a big thing with Spurs and the squad that we've got is there's just too many runners. There's too many people that are good athletes and can carry the ball but are not technically sound. Andy Robertson is technically sound and that has to be the focus this summer is to buy players that can use the football well and be creative and create things for them because that's been the thing in this latter part of the season that you think about the Leeds game and even yesterday where we get a goal up and it's like, okay, put your foot on the ball and start to move it around and we just didn't have the players for that.
13Plus the nervousness as well. Nerves was a huge factor yesterday. One nil up, all we've got to do is hang on now. And nerves is a big thing. We naturally just sat in because Everton needed to score two goals. But for players like Andy Robertson, there's an ego element, I think as well that, you know, you see this club, you see Tottenham, one of the biggest clubs in the country, this beautiful stadium, great fans, et cetera. And it's the same with coaches. There's a little bit of their ego that says, I can go there and I can turn it around. I can help wake that sleeping giant. And I think that's what it is for a lot of players.
46They see how shit we are, but even though we are shit, these players or this coach can be the one to help take us, take us back to where we belong. So yeah, I think a lot of positives. I think, you know, you look at Man United, I know it's different, they're a much bigger club than us, but to have no Europe, to have a few quid to spend going into next season, I always talk about it, not having to play Thursday nights or giving Deserby those free midweeks. If we can buy some, you know, we've got to get probably seven or eight players out, but if we can get a few players in that buy into Deserby, I think we can have a really good season next year.
25Well, interestingly, there's been a letter published just now by Peter Charrington, who is our chairman, effectively.
38And go and have a read of it yourselves. But he talks a lot about, you know, the fans and what they mean and all that sort of stuff. But these are the commitments from his perspective and the rest of the board, I'd imagine. We will build a squad led by Roberto as head coach with the right blend of experience, youth and leadership to complete at the highest levels of the Premier League and European football. We will invest across multiple transfer windows to rebuild, balance and strengthen with the summer representing an important first step in that work. We will continue to modernise our football operation with a significant focus on raising standards across medical and performance.
17we will increase investment in the academy to ensure the pathway from youth football to the first team is one of the strongest in the country and we will build a strong season for Spurs women by continuing to invest in the world class women's team led by Martin Ho
36they've been a bollocks the women's team but they finished fifth yeah and I think they've signed a player straight away since the season finished they've just been signing players so is that good? or do you not rate women's football tea? Is that what your problem is? You roll your eyes. No, no. I've been doing there's been loads of change. Categorically, he did not roll his eyes. I was making a joke. He didn't do anything. I like women's football and I think it's better than it. My dad started watching it. Like, that's how you know it's sort of starting to break through and get through. My dad is like notoriously opposed to anything women's rights.
10He doesn't even think he should vote. He's in row two with a pair of marigolds behind the goalkeeper going, Fucking put them on your can. Yeah, that's the kind of... No, my dad sat down and he's watched several games of the women. It is growing. It's like the work that's been done in the women's game, it hasn't been unnoticed and it is starting to punch through and men are starting to watch it, which is where we should be. You know, Brighton have built the women's team their very own stadium. Yeah, the first in Europe, I think, and only the third in the world. I think the issue that they seem to have is that do they want it to be as partisan as a men's game because obviously it's fucking hate Arsenal and we hate their players we say awful things about their players and could we get to a point where I'm calling the thing is I'm kind of censoring myself here but I feel weird you can call Sal Campbell a cunt yeah but I can't I don't like calling women the C-bomb but I watched I watched Spurs and Wing game, Vegas players against Arsenal and got battered at home and I was like, you fucking cunt!
19And I thought, you know what, I shouldn't be here. I've got to leave and I did. You went to the game? I did. I took my kid along to watch a North London derby. It must have been last season, I think. And got battered at home and yeah, just hopped it. Much better this year. Yeah, massively. So, does any of that, you know, do you feel anything about that? Nah. Just wait and see. In terms of what Peter Charmerton said I mean the start of the season we had all these sort of appointments of all these almost like made up job titles and I think there's going to be a lot more there's going to be a lot more focus on this coming season because I remember we had Thomas Frank coming and all these non-executive people coming and we've kind of forgotten all about that now but I think it's going to be a much more closer focus because now the season's over and they're staying up it's like okay look ours are all going to be on Enoch and the Lewis family and what they're doing and they've addressed the elephant in the room which is the injury situation and they've spoken about that at length but the proof has got to be in the pudding now and one more thing I've just remembered the set-piece coach I think he's been linked to the United we've got to like move heaven and earth to keep him there because I think we scored the most from set-pieces yeah everyone banging on do you know how long many would you have won the league this is what I'm saying would you have won the league without set-pieces we wouldn't have stayed up without him exactly even if he was a set-piece Don't tell anyone.
42Don't tell anyone. It's our own secret. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The nice thing about the statement is, I know you'll probably cover it going forward on the next pod or whatever in more detail, but we will build a squad led by Roberto as head coach, not fucking Johan Langer. That's what I want to see today. Is he out the door? I want him out the door today. Same. How can that geezer look in the mirror or sit in front of a fucking fan's form or whatever. And I'd love to just ask the question, do you think you've done a good job? Because the answer is unequivocally no. You've done a bad job. Sign Kinski.
21Oh, do you know what? Fair play. Give him a pass. Give him a 10-year contract. We all love Kinski, don't we? We all love Kinski, boy. Yeah, do you know what? Kinski hive. Yeah. Mickey Vanna said, we did what we needed to do, an unacceptable season, but thank you for the support throughout the season. You fans kept pushing us until the end. I don't believe you. It's been a collective message from them, just thanking the fans, really. I don't believe you. We don't believe you need more people. We don't believe what you're saying. You want to fight one of us. I love that the hatred for the players is not quite gone yet.
54It's still just in there. Still remnants. Yeah. I don't hate any of them. I just feel supremely worn out by this season. And the thing is that some might say this podcast hasn't been as upbeat as you'd want it to be, but joy is a different feeling to relief. They're linked, and they're as powerful as each other. But relief lets something go, whereas joy is like something to be embraced. and I'm relieved that we've got out of this season without, you know, without going down. And you saw the celebrations after the game. That was part of the relief and it was part of a combined effort. And we've all worked towards this unified Tottenham and it's worked, it's paid off.
50And that was what that celebration was about yesterday. It was the whole world wanting Tottenham to get relegated and we stuck our finger up and said, we're not doing it. We ain't doing it. Everton give it everything. They said, we're not going to give you what you want. You all want to see us down in the championship. Everyone did. It was the story. No one gave a shit that Arsenal lifted the trophy yesterday because Tottenham were the story. It had the lowest viewership of a trophy lift over the last, I think ever, or maybe at least the last 10 years. Is that right? Shit. Because, yeah, I mean, obviously, their own fans are their own fans and they'll always be those weird little gimps.
28but the story was yesterday. Do you know how I know the story was Tottenham this year? I've said this before, but I was talking to, who was it? A journalist at the Financial Times. And he was like, I know there's all these different things. Arsenal could win the league. The story is Tottenham. The story is the fact that whether or not you can stay in the Premier League. That's all anybody is really interested. Even on Match of the Day yesterday, they did a little montage of Arsenal and then went, right, yeah, but actually what was actually important today that was less than half a minute that montage as well as well sure yeah I paused it just in case there was any more of it so I could skip by there was um there was this thing on Instagram where um I think they were showing like Teta lifting his trophy and as he's about to lift the teeth eventually another channel eventually vanish and then you can oh hey love that love that the thing is I didn't realise how many people hated them until this season a lot of times like non-spurs I was like I fucking hate them I wouldn't yeah it's just it's beautiful to see from my point of view obviously another moment from yesterday was quite funny was walking through Kings Cross station we walked through Kings Cross station there's swarms of fucking Arsenal there's loads of Tottenham and this one West Ham fan in his shirt comes bopping through and goes Champions of Europe you'll never see and I was like what a geezer what a geezer what's on his jack like was not was not bothered a single bit which is like champions i was like fair play man fair play you know we've been we've been having to go at the board but i don't i think the major turnaround was when we signed with peppa pig when it was like we haven't i mean we haven't we i mean this it was peppa pig and deserve it yeah
20it's a winner's mentality Peppa Pig's got you know okay I do I need to lie down so I yeah I mean there's more lots of stuff planned the fighting cock isn't going anywhere over the summer we'll probably do some stuff around England but there's gonna be plenty to talk about around Tottenham as well so this isn't really the end of anything it's not the end of another season we just carry on but thank fuck it is the end of this one absolutely we all need a break up the Spurs
