In short
This episode is a Spurs-focused Q&A built around the idea that Tottenham’s 17th-place relegation battle was a “flash knockdown” and that the club is now poised to “overspend to catch up” with major signings. Hosts debate whether spending big (e.g., £80m targets) is necessary, reject claims it’s a “loophole,” and argue Spurs must buy first-team-ready players rather than rely on youth pathways. They also discuss motivation from rival fans saying “you should’ve relegated us,” plus transfer rumors for Matheus Fernandes and comparisons to other clubs’ recruitment models.
Guests
none. The episode is hosted by Cal and John (with recurring mentions of “Horny Orny” and “Ricky” as references, not guests).
Key claims
Spurs can raise ~£100m in sales; youth development has stalled; loans/buyback clauses could protect future value (examples: Vusković, Berghuis/Bergvall, Nico Paz); Igor Tudor may have helped save Kinski’s career by subbing him.
Notable examples
Karius/Lennox Lewis boxing analogies; Kinski redemption; “Food Chain” vs Mark Goldbridge; Saley eSIM sponsor; discussions of Tonali/Fernandes/Savinho targets.

1:24It's the fighting Cock It's the fighting
1:32It's the fighting Cock Come on, shut up! She wanted to watch Scotland, did she? Yeah. I did. I watched it as well, it was rubbish. Yeah, I watched it at 11 o 'clock. It's late, man. Yeah, in a pub in London, because... I mean, I didn't... I mean, I did willfully go there, but someone was paying me to go there. Do you know what I'm going to do tonight on a Wednesday night when Earth is hotter than the sun? Is I'm going to get a train to central London to Canary Wolf, which is like an oven because the buildings are on top. And I'm going to watch Scotland get battered, just fucking kick the ball in their own net against Brazil with none other than Gordon Smart.
2:20But it was also with me on the show. And to say he, well, he was animated, as you'd expect. I love Scottish people. I do love Scottish people. Yeah, same. I've got nothing against the nation of Scotland as a people. And as a country, I've gone to Scotland many times. Go and enjoy it. Yeah, I've been to Edinburgh loads of times. I've been to Glasgow I went to watch boxing in Glasgow but I love Scottish people and the guy mainly I get on below the belt quite a bit his name is John McDonnell he's from Glasgow and he's a lovely guy but I fucking loved it that they got battered last night I think it's our duty as Englishmen to want Scotland to do poorly but weirdly it's like and I hate this but I don't really care because they're not nowhere near a threat so I don't there is no genuinely animosity from my side but I hate that when say you know Arsenal fans go well no Chelsea are our rivals and you're not because you're beneath us you don't understand a rivalry if you think that way I don't know who said it in the in whenever it was one of our chats but someone said that they are basically like the West Ham to our Spurs which is like in certain instances I'm sort of happy for them when they win like when they won the conference I was sort of like yeah do you know what fair enough like Scotland's a proper country like West Ham's a proper football club right so I'm sort of like yeah you know what fair enough but when they like you know when they lose I'm like good like funny hilarious and then you know and my sort of default position is we're rivals but I don't really care about them it's the Germans innit it's the Germans and the RGs like do you know on a national level I don't I don't care about any other nation I don't feel any animosity towards Germany towards Argentina.
4:17Do you know what it is? It's because England comes such a far... You will have the floor, John, any time you want it, right? But England is such a distant second to Spurs with me. As much as I want them to win and I really get into it, I don't kind of invest in any of the national rivalries when it comes to football, just world wars. That's when I'm invested. Yeah, yeah. Just to be clear, all of the national banter is purely that, right? It's a laugh. It's like sort of satire for me because obviously I work in international circles. I have lots of friends in Germany. I have lots of friends in different places, right?
5:00I do love it. Yeah, you can't be racist because you're your black mate. Exactly. You're best mate in Germany. You're best mate in Germany. I can't hate women in my mum's one. But my favourite thing is conflating football with world wars. That is my favourite thing. That is your will, mate. Cal's with me on that. It's too much fun. You can't ignore it. The parallels are there and it makes too much sense not to do it. And I think if everyone embraced that, they'd have much more of a laugh, right? Think about it this way because at least in the World War, like the UK, the British Empire, aka England, were the good guys.
5:31Whereas now, everybody hates us. Then, we're against the axis of evil. So it's much more fun thinking about every other country as the axis of evil in that scenario. So, yeah, I just think instead of you know trying to move away from stuff like that oh let's move on let's leave what's in the park no bring it back i say bring it back make yeah more of it yeah more of it yeah i guess it's tough isn't it we all ever we all do a day's work we work hard and i think you do have to treat yourself sometimes to certain things you know and i think and i think the world cup i'm prepared for this to be edited out but the world i ain't editing anything so good stand on Whatever you say.
6:10The World Cup is your license to be a bit xenophobic. When you're watching England against Croatia, you watch, you know, and there's one of those fouls, one of ours, like, fuck off, you Croatian cunt. You treat yourself, don't you? You do treat yourself because it is the best of ours against the best of theirs. Yeah. Bit of white on white crime. Nothing wrong with it. It's good, if anything. Yeah, no losers there. Exactly. And two winners. You know we belong together. You and I forever and ever. No matter where you are, you're my guided star. I don't know where that came from. This is the Q &A podcast.
6:56And it's the off-season, but Spurs are never out of the news because we're fucking massive. Literally massive. We've got Mateus Fernandes. Was it Mateus Fernandes? Whatever the fuck he's named. Yeah, Fernandes, isn't it? We're about to spend£80 million and I don't actually know his full name. That's how big we are. Real Madrid are going, can we buy you from West Ham? And he was like, you can, but Tottenham are in for me. And so I want to go Spurs. There's a Twitter account called The Madrid Zone. They must be reputable because they've got Madrid in their name. They've got 1.7 million followers.
7:38So some people believe in them. And they've gone, and I never thought I'd utter this sentence. They've gone, Real Madrid are out of the race for Matis Fernandes because he has chosen Tottenham. Yes. And Tottenham is in capital letters. Man United, apparently head of the race. I mean, and I'm saying all this, we haven't signed him and we could easily be gazumped because that's what happens. Man United have come in and gone, all right, we'll give you this contract. This is what Luke Chadwick was on 20 years ago. And he goes, yeah, I might. I understand Man United, massive, massive football club.
8:20Massive, massive, massive football club. Spurs are blowing you out of the water with their contract offer. Now, does that make you feel happy that we're willing to spend and close the gap between the other top five clubs? or are we being a bit willy-nilly with the money to get these players in, or is it just something we have to do given the position we're in, John? Well, first of all, two words, Flav. What are they? They are food chain. Correct. Yeah. I had a kid come up to me in the pub about half past 12 last night, and he went, Flav, I know it's a bit weird, big fan. Well, he didn't say two words.
9:09He went, food chain, and then nodded. Yes. Yeah, and I had two little whippersnappers, right, coming at me on Twitter. I checked their bios. I was rattled by them. Checked their bios, 16 and 15 years old. And I was like, oh, I'm nabbing my joke again, nabbing my joke. And I was like, I shouldn't rise to this. It shouldn't matter. I'm 44. I'm old enough, easily old enough to be their dads. But they have to know. I didn't nab anything. Nah. I made it up. and I posted a picture of when I first tweeted it. That's how petty I got. And then they just did the crying eyes emoji and walked off, didn't speak to him again.
9:44Sorry, John. Number two. Number two, I've been saying for a long time, we can't just spend within our means. We have to overspend to catch up, right? And finally, it looks like we're about to overspend to catch up. Now, when I was saying overspend to catch up, we were like finishing, you know, sixth or eighth or whatever, right? Well, we finished 17th twice. So this hopefully is going to be a gargantuan, the mother of all overspends. We need to blow our wage budget on every single player we sign. If they want 350 grand a week, give them 400 for a laugh. Just get them done, get them in, get them in quickly.
10:23And that will show a remarkable sea change in what we've been doing because, yeah, we are behind. We're miles behind. And so we can't just do par anymore. We have to go balls to the wall, big sign-ins, big players and go all out. So I'm not surprised actually. That's well, sorry. I am surprised a little bit that these stories are coming out, but I'm pleasantly surprised because this is kind of what we need to be doing, which is basically if they're going to offer 250, offer 350, just keep up. We want you. Just big dick energy. Just go and get these players. Because the one thing that, you know, you see the Villa fans and Newcastle fans, why would they go to Spurs?
11:02well because we'll pay them more money we're in London and despite the two 17th place finishes there is a food chain and we are still above a lot of the clubs in the league this is seen as temporary if we sign good players and we have a good manager who can get us out of the league they're looking at it it's one season at the Champions League and we could be straight back in it so this is the energy this is what we need to be doing and I am delighted to see it mate Yes Is it real Cal? Are you starting to believe now? Or not? I think until Horny Orny says, he likes using the word total agreement, doesn't he?
11:37Total agreement for Matas Fernandes to sign for Tottenham or Sandro Tonali to go join Tottenham for£90 million. Until I see Horny Orny say that and Ricky always likes to say, you know, until I see him in the scarf, I don't believe it. And there is an element of that because we've all got a bit of PTSD from last year and the year before and all of that. But the noises are all there and all the signs are there And I think that we were joking the other day about how we were kind of big to too big to go down. And I think, and I've been thinking about this a little bit and everyone knows I love boxing.
12:12It's like those, that relegation battle was like scoring a flash knockdown against a prime Mike Tyson. You got a flash knockdown. I've taken a knee, but I'm back up now. And now I'm going to smash your fucking face in. That's what Tottenham are. We've, we've taken it. We've taken a flash knockdown. We've finished 17th. We've had a tough time of it. Now we're back up. We've wiped the gloves off. And now I'm coming to smash your fucking face in and win the league. Did that ever happen with Tyson? Did he ever get caught with a flash knockdown? I think Razor Ruddock, I think the Razor Ruddock fight, I think he got dropped in that.
12:45No, he beat Razor Ruddock. I would say the best flash knockdown. Could you have a flash knockout? I don't know if you can. No, no. There was a one punch knockout. And I think you know who I'm going to say. because it happened to one of your favourite boxers, Cal. Okay. But it was a punch from hell. Right. And it flattened him. And it was Hasim Rahman on Lennox Lewis. I watched the fight and I was like, oh my God. Yeah. Lennox Lewis could be dead. Yeah. I hope not because I don't want to see anyone murdered in the ring. But it was that. But he should have been done for GPH. The punch was that bad.
13:24Yeah. It's similar in a way because they had the rematch. and Lennox Lewis smashed and that's we're like that we are like us last season is an old fat Lennox Lewis now this season next season coming up is us with a full training camp ready to smash everyone's fucking face in a window yeah the Premier League is on on notice we are coming for your nans none of them are safe it's hot enough as it is keep them inside definitely keep them inside when we're on the prowl we're coming for your nans I do like that meme of you should have relegated us. I do like that, right? Because that to me is the motivation, right?
14:06If I'm the Zerbi, I'm just going in there going, they all wanted to relegate you. Let's show them why they fucked up. They should have relegated us because now we're back and we are more violent and dangerous than ever. So easy to be motivated. So easy to be motivated. Look, they all thought you were shit. Yeah, thought you were much more. I get it. We've spent a lot of money replacing a lot of you, right? That isn't the point. Because you were sure. As it happens. There were good players in all of you. All of you. Obviously, the midfield needed work, but we won't concentrate on that. Yeah. And what possible reason?
14:45Like, how blinkered a person do you need to be if you supported Newcastle or Aston Villa and you think for some reason the players wouldn't choose us over you? There was a time, I would admit, never Newcastle, ever Newcastle. But there was a time in the 80s where Villa were winning, I think they won back-to-back European Cup. So I might be thinking about Forrest. I can't remember. Forrest definitely did it, yeah. Sorry, only one of them did. So Villa won the European Cup. Fine. Brilliant. Really good. Since then, the game has changed. And we owe a lot of that to Daniel Levy. and the irony of this is because we're in a position to spend now because he was so frugal slash tight, I don't know what the word would be, overly cautious probably.
15:36And now we've got an opportunity to spend. I think there's a bit of misinformation going around about this. I think Ben Jacobs called it some sort of loophole that Spurs could exploit. It's just not the case. There's sensible ways to spend, i.e. 85 % of your revenue or stretch yourself and spend 115 and have to get back down next year I mean there's one thing speculating and being adventurous there's another thing being fucking Peter Riesdale nearly sending Leeds United into administration let's not be sensible in our speculation let's be, what would you call it put a condom on yeah, get in there have a frost yeah thrust away still do it have a little strap it on strap it on yeah yeah you should put a condom on spurs as well yeah enjoy yourself yeah I know it's less enjoyable get it but I know there's a quick way there's a quick way to come don't wear the condom but not as not as safe okay so let's just put it on yeah and we'll still get the result we want and it's all our lives you're risking yeah yeah we don't want to come away with syphilis from this transfer window yeah yeah yeah that's the worst one to get out of all I mean it's syphilis or gonorrhea I think AIDS is generally considered the worst no no no AIDS is fine these days oh okay I don't want to belittle anyone listening to this who has HIV or AIDS but you can live a long way yeah HIV is pretty manageable now okay I'll take it back then why is syphilis so bad because it just hurts loads and there's no cure I don't know mate really it just sounds it doesn't it gonorrhea sounds the worst you know there was a time when syphilis was knocking knocking people out like you were getting done like you got syphilis that was the end yeah yeah it's pretty hard to spell isn't it as well so like if you have it it's like quite hard to tell people in text message you've got it as well yeah yeah whereas if you go i've got aids you might have it as well they go fuck but at least exactly what it is yeah was if they go who's phyllis yeah what's that got to anything hopefully i haven't given it to anyone just won't tell anyone the uh the um the thing is is like people were so like syphilis was well known we're talking about hundreds of years ago right how can you need sex that much and risk for getting syphilis i can't even be bothered to have a wank sometimes do you know what i mean like to go around and having sex with loads of broads um that's a great word it's a great word because didn't Al Capone die of syphilis and it's a very Al Capone word broads isn't it there's a few famous people got syphilis and went mad because if you leave it untreated you can go insane can't you that's a way to go he fucked himself insane that's quite mad I don't know that's not the way I'd want to go I'd rather get hit by Naveco yeah so what Villa and Newcastle fans could possibly but they can't even intellectualize the situation.
18:39We are and always will be, and there's a massive shift in football, bigger than you. You've finished. There was a geezer. He was talking about shirt sales, the most amount of shirt sales in the Premier League from bottom to top. And it was exactly how you'd think it would be. Right? Imagine the league table. Understand what we are in our position in that table. Where would we be, do you think? Most shirt sales in the world. Fifth or sixth. Yeah, exactly. That's where we're at. Where do you think Villa were? 23rd. In the world? No, no, just like, in terms of Premier League show, 12th? 8th. Yeah, fine.
19:19Newcastle, 9th. Fine. Well, there you go. Makes sense. Because once you've sold them in Newcastle, that's it. Where else are they going to go? There's nowhere else to sell them. No one wants to wear that. No one wants to be associated with the armpit of England. I don't, I think people quite like it. Do they? I wouldn't call it... Some people I've heard, I've never been. Nah, same. Okay, so these are the Q &A questions for you all. We'll start with this one. This is the glorious Arcoys Reddit, the best place on the internet for Spurs stuff. Etkan, he says, real feelings on potentially losing Bergvau.
19:56How many youngsters can we realistically develop? Has our expectations on youth been one of our missteps in the last few years, Cal? yeah you've yes definitely we haven't really seen a player come through we had that great spell didn't we under pochettino where we had bentz lab brian mason harry kane um address towns on a little bit before that um all come through the academy and get into the first team and go on to be to varying extents top flight players you know bentz is still playing in france now i think um and then since then the academy's not really produced anything uh even guys like alfie devine who looked like being the bollocks.
20:34And then we signed him from Wigan, didn't we? And all he did was go out on unsuccessful loan after unsuccessful loan. Seems to have done quite well at Preston last year. And now rumours about him perhaps being involved, perhaps going to West Ham. Yeah, I think with the academy especially, we've not really seen anything come through the academy really. And then I think for a while, it has been Daniel Levy's kind of plan is to do that again. is young coach, get young players for really cheap and try and do the potch thing again. That seems to be his plan. It worked once, I'll do it again. But it just hasn't.
21:11Well, no, no. Definitely on the pitch it hasn't worked. But you could argue that the squad building that was done there has given us assets to sell. We haven't been in this possession for a long time. Which is, Saar has value, Berevao has value. Well, obviously Romero has value. Doggy has value. Spence has value. We paid for these players and we're going to make a profit on them. We haven't done, we were so bad under four years, under the end, at the end of the Pochettino era, the Mourinho and Conte eras. While you definitely, there should be massive criticisms about the quality of player brought in and their readiness to play for Premier League level.
21:53But we have got a packed squad versus, say, LeBulatis. We'll be able to raise, I think, easily 100 million in player sales this summer if we want them to go. And what's a fair price, Ben, for Lucas? He's 45 million feels right. We paid 12? Yeah. Am I right? Yeah, 15, yeah. Yeah, the thing is that like the sort of process that the club's gone through over the last few years has been quite muddled. And I think that's kind of why we're in this weird situation where we felt like we spent a lot of money on young talent, so therefore blocking pathways for our own young talent. But now we're at a point where we might then sell the talent we brought in that we all thought would break into the team.
22:39How many conversations are we out of, oh, one day it'll be a midfield two of Gray and Bergvold, and one day this player will play, and one day this player will play. And so it just now feels like, oh, okay, so we're now just going to sell basically that sort of generation, let's say, of players like the Voscoviches and the Bergvold before we see them come to fruition, which is fine, but it's just a departure from the process that we had. And to me, there's like, you know, there's sort of two schools of thought. Either you have like an established, like first team full of like quality stars and then you use your academy to find one or two gems that you bring in and you start to like infiltrate them.
23:15And I'd say like City are quite good at that, right? They don't necessarily spend like big money on a youngster. They'll sign top quality first team players and then they'll bring in a Nico O 'Reilly or, you know, and they'll rotate Foden in and that kind of stuff, right, from their own academy because they've got a really good one. We also have a good one with players, you know, like Maduweke, for example. He was at Spurs for a long, long time and was very well thought after. We couldn't find a way to get him into the first team set up at the time because we had a top side and he wasn't quite good enough.
23:45So we were open to letting him go. Yeah, he was quite young. He was like 15, 16 when he went to PSV. Yeah, but my point is basically that now we're kind of in the same situation, right? You've got a Mikey Moore there. we might now go let's sign I don't know Savinho and Rashford all of a sudden there is no space for a Mikey Moore and we still have Tell for example who would be the youngster who's been brought in at big expense in that position so I think we do need to decide are we going to be a team that's like got good talent and then buys the best young talent from around Europe and looks to integrate it quickly and then maybe sell them at profit or do we want to buy first team ready players in the main and then supplement them with the odd Mikey Moore here and there.
24:27Because at the minute, we're sort of stuck between two worlds where we've got Tell, Odebet and Mikey Moore, but none of them are a first-team starter. That's an issue. I want our team to be as good as it can be. And if there is a young player that we have that's good enough to play, then he should play. If he's not good enough to play, then he shouldn't. If there are games when you can blood them in a year or 24 months down the road where we're established in European competition, we have shitloads of games and opportunities 100 % right now. We don't have the luxury. And I understand Lucas wanting to go and play football because he realizes if we're signing these two midfielders in Tonali, Romano replied to someone's comment just about 10 hours ago.
25:11He said, is it still on? And he just said, it's still on. So you're buying those two players, you can understand them wanting to go. If you can get 45 million right now, that helps us. there's not it's not like as much as I've seen Lucas isn't he's not generational yet he doesn't he doesn't look like Nico O 'Reilly right he's not at that level we cannot be we cannot I've said this a few times we're not a crash for a football club that should be challenging for titles so understanding the feelings of young players and making sure they're not too hurt and their career isn't damaged we're just not in that business we're not West Ham we're not Southampton where young players will go, they'll develop, they'll play.
25:53You have to be good enough to play for Tottenham. You can't just be your young prospect and go give him minutes. Fuck, we've done that. I don't want that anymore. I want the best players at their peak ages playing for Spurs. If you've got a talent in Mikey Moore, but you've got the option to bring in Rashford and you don't bring in Rashford because you don't want to stunt the growth of Mikey Moore, you will go nowhere, in my opinion. 29:43That's just my personal opinion. Loan with an option. And that would be if he pays over 80 minutes and the option is over his market value. Yeah. Then something like that. Man United for the last five, 10 years have been when they sell young players to put buyback clauses in. They do that a lot. But like Nico Paz at Real Madrid. Yeah, like today, Madrid are going to activate that. They're going to buy him back for 10 million just so they can sell him again. like I think you know I used the word future proof when we were talking about Vrishovic the other week and I think that's like a good happy medium with Beraval because I don't think he desperately wants to leave Tottenham because he hates Tottenham or whatever I think he's he's seen the writing on the wall he didn't really get many minutes towards the end of last season under De Zerbe and he's been Thomas Frank was fucking playing him on the right and all sorts of stuff and he's thinking I need to go and play football somewhere and I said on the pod the other day and I'd say it again he has five years left on his contract Bergvau I'd send him on a two year loan to a Leipzig or a Dortmund or you know or if you do sell him put a buyback clauses they get their money back and we get our player back that sort of thing because we aren't you know yeah and you look at like good performances in the German league increase your value have you seen that with Vuskiewicz yeah like whatever whatever deserve you once I can't remember I have that tattooed on my chest I say it to you um here's another question from justin bc actually before we do that um john i hear you went to um san francisco i did mate i went to san francisco i went to lake tahoe i went to yosemite national park and i went to napa valley mate and i had a fucking blast yeah and and obviously when you're out there you didn't you didn't get caught out without data did you i didn't because you know why flav why is that before i went i took advantage of our lovely offer from my friends at saley and I actually did I've never used an eSIM before like a fucking idiot I just go ah it's fine I already paid for my contract so surely it's included and I always get a big charge and always go well that can't be the best way to do it maybe there's a better way to do it turns out eSIM is really easy to do I just got the Saley app I used the Fighting Cock discount I got my discount and then when I landed in America I just went on the app and away I went mate and it was fine weird you did all that yeah it's perfect weird you did that it's like it's it's almost like it's good it's really good it was really easy yeah simple if you if they didn't sponsor a pub probably never done that only that so do you get like a second phone number so yeah basically you you get the you get the app you decide what you want so i needed 10 days i wanted unlimited because you know always upgrade to the best thing you can afford so i got unlimited minutes unlimited data sorry uh while i was away and then basically on your on your phone settings there's a thing on your mobile data and you just select travel which which is the Saley number.
32:31And it just switches over your data. So I just switched it back when I landed. Mate, it was, honestly, despite working in tech, I'm a bit of a, not technophobe, but I was a bit like, oh, busy, new stuff. I don't like it. It took me ages to get into VPNs for the same reason. So I got NordVPN and now I've got Saley. Much, much better than your data. Cal, if it was a second number, what would, you know, John's his holidays? Yeah, because it was like a dropdown. He's like, click the dropdown and says travel. What would Jaws be called? Text other birds. Right. Yeah, that's what I thought. When I heard you say second number, that's exactly what I thought you meant.
33:08Cheating. Not cheating number. Text other birds. That's what it should say on the dropdown. Travelling, business, text other birds. Text other birds. Use it for whatever you want. 33:45Question here from Justin Bisu. He says, if we get to Fernandez, can you promise that you will tweet Food Chain to Mark Goldbridge after his nonsense lying comment? Absolutely without question. if someone shows me that he's tweeted something. Yeah, of course. So what was his... He said that Spurs are trying to hijack the Fernandes deal was like a puppy trying to take a bone from a lion. Yeah. I've actually bookmarked it specifically for that reason. I saw it today and I was like, I'm going to bookmark that and tweet Food Chain when we sign him. Can't wait. Surely he knows something. There must be people feeding the MITK.
34:22Maybe United do have the upper hand. No, it's just a classic United arrogance. That's exactly what it is. We beat them in a cup final and they still can't understand. They haven't beat us for four years. Yeah, they don't get it. So like everybody else, they're still underestimating us. You should have relegated us. It's going to come back and bite you, lads. It's going to come back and bite you. Trust us. Yeah. I had a message from a Villa fan. I tweeted that food chain thing in January. Oh, yeah. It was loads of time. We've had two heat waves since then. but I just want to read what the geezer said, but I can't find it right now, which is a bad podcast.
35:05I'll try and find it when you're next in your next monologue.
35:11Exciting Tangelo. It says, does Flav know he's referring to Shopify as Spotify and the latest ad read? I'm not consistently doing that. you're i've got to say you are maybe the 600th person who's pointed that out now there's a couple of things i didn't at a while recording obviously that i'm shopify is mentioned in the read probably six seven times and one time i call it spotify i don't call it spotify through the read it's just one time i slipped up that then gets sent to when i do the read it gets sent to the client well the agency and they send it to shopify to clear so they cleared the ad read and then the the agency they plant the ads in i'd have nothing to do with it i don't i record them i record it once it gets sent to them so they haven't come back to me again can you re-record this so i'm not going to go to them go oh by the way i've spotted an error that's been running for six months can i re-record that and maybe you'll probably look at the value of that entire time or we can all just be quiet about it because they haven't noticed except you fucking anal part bastards who keep messaging me also it works it means you're listening to the ad so if they come did it on purpose yeah i did a purpose yeah did a purpose worked so if they come to me and they go oh you did yes i didn't i didn't look how many people have reached out that's how many people are listening to your your advertisement so there you go uh so yeah i'm aware it will always be the same please stop messaging me about it it's never going to change yeah stop snitching just shut the fuck up i mean they're trying to help a lot of people i've had dms i've had emails i've some some some people have tried to get through ricky to get to me about it but that's like going oh hi is that the police yeah i see two blokes loading a body into a car they're trying to help but stop snitching i'm i'm fucking throwing a body in the thames leave it out mind your business top wars follow this he says he calls it shopify he calls it shopify sometimes as well which does my nutting when the ad comes you can skip it you don't if it does your editing you don't have to listen to it I appreciate you do and I'll love you for it top war but yeah look I mean cut me a break here um panda bear says with bear of our on the way out are you all concerned about the result in dropping the number of little blonde bitches we have in the squad.
37:37Well, no, actually, because one of the greatest redemption arcs on earth is upon us. In February, you might recall,
37:51Kinski, he had a shocker. And I saw someone compile the commentary around that game and then turn it into all the great saves he made at the end of the season. And they're saying, he'll never play again. He's 22-year-old. and I said something similar at the time. I was worried. I was like, how badly? He'll play again. But we saw Karius do something in the Champions League final and he'd never really recovered. I was worried about him. For him to come back, make the saves that kept us in the league and then them go, you know what? I think he is good enough. He has a five-year contract. I think it feels great.
38:24John, how do you feel about it? It feels good. I want some justice for Igor Tudor. That's what I want. Right? Because, and I'll tell you why. because I've spoken so when I was in San Francisco I was with some of my friends there's like Man United fans Liverpool fans like you know a big mix of different supporters and every time we were talking about Spurs it was always like Igor Tudor what was that all about? Like he was the reason we nearly got relegated right? Well he got sort of parachuted into the mess that was created by Thomas Frank and he took a lot of shit for that Kinski incident right?
38:53But if you actually think back on what was happening Vecario was in really bad form and Kinski and his agent had been making a lot of noises about wanting opportunities to come in. So he plays him and he drops two absolute clangers in the game. And he takes him off. And when he took him off, as Kinski was walking off the pitch, he was giving instructions to the team. And people went absolutely fucking mental, Igor Tudor. Peter Schmeichel was saying it's a disgrace. You've killed him. You've ruined his career. And on that pod afterwards, I was like, well, hang on a minute. He's probably trying to organise the fact that we're now 2-0 down away from home after conceding two horrific goals.
39:30Yeah, give him his player at the forefront of... Yeah, like it's not at the forefront of his mind. And we've got no idea what he said to him at halftime, what he did after the game. Now, subsequently... You fucking can't! You've killed me, you cunt! You shit, you cunt! You cunt, you've killed me! You'll never play again! And subsequently, it's come out that he was actually really supportive to Kinski and that there was no issue there whatsoever. And so I actually think that Igor Tudor may have saved Kinski long term by taking him off because I think if you'd have left him on there that could have been four or five and then that is a completely different story so yeah it was painful at the time it was like your leg stuck in a drain the water's filling up you would chop your leg off stepbrother comes and bummed you yeah 12 rapers come along and bum you there's nothing you can do about it or you chop your leg off and get out of there short term pain but you survive to fight another day and I think at the time it was ridiculous that what Igor Tudor was going through because I think that might be the reason why Kinski is now been able to turn it around because Tudor made a difficult decision in a difficult moment.
40:40And our expectations were so low with Kinski that we just everything he did was elevated even though he should have done better with a Fernandes goal against Chelsea but yeah he kept us in the league. He really did. Also if we're talking about justice for Tudor I've got one. Go on. I don't know was the point that we got away at Liverpool the first one we got in about 40 years did that keep us up yes kept us in the league we were great that day so congratulate well done well done Igor justice for Igor wish you well on your way yeah it's that fucking terrorist Thomas Frank like inviting him to the World Cup like he knows fucking anything he's got away with it mate he's got away with it everyone loves him still it's mental people honestly other fans think it's Igor Tudor they're like that Tudor bloke nearly took you down what are you talking about no that weird little gorm nearly took us down A freak, a floppy head freak.
41:28Yeah. Boring Orange, he says, can you rank and compare our current transfer targets in terms of the number of Lewis family paintings you think each is worth? I mean, it sounds quite laborious. That is on there. Yeah, I don't want to do that. But how much did they raise from their sales? I mean, they had some fucking mental artwork. like Francis Bacon original paintings insane insane collection well they're actually flogging them for the transfer so I talked to Ben White about this we got Ben White back dispelling some of the myths around Tottenham's finances but he said it's a great story but probably not yeah if they wanted cash they probably had they don't need to sell paintings inside their house to raise a bit of money yeah because like some of these paintings are going to go for like huge money for a painting hundreds of millions but that well are they going to go for hundreds of millions or are they going to go for like 25 million for a painting 30 million yeah per painting like in total yeah exactly so it's not that much in the grand scheme of things in order to be able to like imagine having to sell your entire collection to raise like 90 million that's one player it's almost like they've waited till Joe Lewis has gone senile right you know he's getting on he doesn't really look at the walls anymore just sort of stares into his lap.
42:55That's a really depressing thing. It's like they've replaced all this fine whiskey with apple juice. It's like that. It's the equivalent. They've just stuck a load of posters up. That's what my nan at the end. That was essentially it. She had paintings on the wall that she would never look at because she'd gone. She'd gone. There was just nothing. There was nothing there of her. She wasn't my nan anymore. She was just a husk of what she used to be and it was a very sad time and I checked the paintings and they were a fuck all. Yeah. So, pointless. Mrs. The whole thing was pointless. The last five years of life completely pointless.
43:34Yeah. It's just, is that because you couldn't find any good brooches on the way out? Yeah, there was nothing there. She just stored nothing. Yeah, you're looking at paintings and your missus is in the, in the, in the box. She's looking at brooches and pearls going, yeah, I think she used to keep, Doris, where are the good jewelry? She used to keep, it was Joyce actually not Doris she used to keep her I swear she used to keep her rings in the potatoes um no uh just to draw like actually be serious for a second the tail end of my nan's life was extremely stressful and uh if you can't laugh about it now she's gone yeah when can you when can you laugh about when can you laugh at the elderly yeah slow demise of a human being that you've loved for years yeah yeah right um fucking up oh Christ Rodney Peppercorn he says Flav with the club seriously bolstering the roster what are you don't say roster by the way if you I know you're from America and I know you support Spurs and you listen to the podcast just say squad say squad become one of us say it but yeah apologies for that man it's unnecessary what are you doing to add to your army of big men I've got enough I've got John Boy right in front of me and Cal easily qualifies.
44:51People won't understand. Cal's a unit. Fucking no-neck cunt. I'm a no-neck cunt, yeah. I always think this, right? Cal never gets joined in, but he's massive. He's massive. He's basically the same size and stature as me, if not bigger. He's massive. He's a lump. And no one, he's like, it's a bit like in Lockstock when they keep calling Tom, the skinny one, fat. It's like, you need to stop eating. It's like people can't see him for what he really is. He's a unit. He's a double-eyed bastard. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. So, are the ones you have enough or are you wanting more? Snuffle says you have to sell before you can buy.
45:32Get rid of Deadwood. And Gully Riddle actually says I'd avoid using the term roster if you wanted to take your question seriously. Yeah, you got one. That would be me. Yeah. Rodney Peppercorn says the question is a serious my flair is Clint Dempsey free who cares we fucking care Rodney I'm not joking no it was just a joke it was all joking Gully Ridder was joking we're all joking let's all be friends we're all friends yeah seppel syndrome so good so good so good new summer arrivals are at Nordstrom Rack stores now get ready to save big with up to 60 % off brands like Rag & Bone, Levi's, Adidas, and Free People.

47:28It's a simple one, but if Tonali, Fernandez and Savino get over the line and we buy a good striker, could we? Could we? yep no Europe no Europe the Premier League is in a state of flux Premier League is in a state of flux transitional transitional the champions have been found out they're not going to be able to get away with as many they're not going to go a whole season with no red cards and no penalties that is not going to happen again that is true never going to happen again they've won it and the motivation to do to climb that mountain again you climbed USMIT the other day it's tough mate when you did it once do you want to do it again I've done it.
48:07Done it, mate. Done it. Tell me a team that isn't in transition. That isn't in transition. No, there isn't. There isn't really. Villa, they're the only one that aren't in transition. Villa are not in transition. They're trying to buy Emerson Royale. Exactly. They are finished. What isn't a food chain? This is a player that we bombed out the football club to Brazil for nothing four years ago because he was awful. and now what do you think he's learnt in Brazil in the last four years to think yeah he's going to be come back to the Premier League that is mental so yeah look with the right signings who the fuck knows it would be the ultimate gully story to finish 17th do you genuinely believe we'll finish top four I genuinely think we could win it not that we will but I think it's a possibility it might be a long shot a title challenge I would look just to be super clear I'm not saying I think we're going to do it What I'm saying is, stranger things that happen.
49:05If you made a load of good sign-ins, you got a completely clean run, as in no European football to distract you. All those teams are in flux. It might be a 1 % chance, but it's a 1 % chance. Realistically, I think if we finish six, that'd be a really good result. That's where I think... Yeah, yeah, top six. Top six is a conservative. Yeah. Is it conservative? Cal conservative? Or is that optimistic? I don't know. If we signed all those players, I'd be disappointed with top six. I would want top four I would expect champions I just Slanky and Teller's our number nines no John said a striker or with a question might have said a striker I would say and that's you're right John I don't know who just said that but who and that's a you know Vlachovic let's take a guess like the two of us here what did you think might have said it one of you did I wasn't looking who did you think you yes thank you alright you said you said okay alright you feel better now I've taken my trousers off.
50:03It's too hot. Is it? Nice. Oh, yes. Brilliant. Give us a little thrust.
50:14Fucking hell. That is excellent. He's like those inflatable wailing tube man guys that just outside of second-hand car dealerships. So many times have worn shorts this year. Good man. I was going to say, and they're not even shorts. Flav's refusal to wear shorts continues. They just, he'll either wear nothing or jeans. There's no in between. I was going to join this pod without a vest on. I put a vest on out of decency. No, you could have done that. Take it off now. Take it off right now. Hang on. Yes, stand up and take it off. Oh, God. This is sick. Well, that is a man. What you were doing with GC is unreal.
50:45Oh, yeah. You are not a geezer. And then he would be able to fuck. Yeah. Oh, mate. In San Francisco, I was honestly like a god out there. Yeah. I don't deny it. It's sensational. I don't deny it. What am I talking about? I don't, I don't, I don't. I'm not confused at all. Yeah. Right. Say Lee, drop down, text other birds. That was John. Text other blokes. Holes. Just holes. Yeah. Right. Right. Yeah, I spoke to a gentleman from the Anfield Wrap the other day. I did a little bit for them. And I asked them about the Gatpo rumours. And he said they'd be happy with 65 million without question. Wow.
51:27he is he said categorically he is not a number nine do not buy him as your number nine do not buy him as your number nine he is not a striker he couldn't be more any more categoric than that I was like okay interesting we'll be the judge of that mate thanks yeah we signed him and he scores 25 you fucking fucking shut up alright fucking shut up fuck do you know Austin 416 every time you see he's only watched him for three years fucking how do you know every time you see a player manager in a hotel in London asking if they joined in Spurs got dragged into the toilets it's gone horribly wrong yep Dybala Bastoni Frank we either didn't get a player or the manager was the worst in Spurs history will you be wondering in any hotel lobby soon I will never make that joke ever again I don't know if you know this you might not listen to the podcast but I lost I lost a brand deal out of it yeah they found they went through my social media and found that and said what is this about and I'm like that's one of the greatest jokes of all time.
52:28Yeah. Sorry, we can't sponsor the podcast. And I was like, what about if I delete the tweet? And I went, no, still no. I was like, all right. Well, I'll fucking delete you. What do you want me to do? Just give me the money, please. I'm desperate. I'll do anything. I'll suck your dick. I'll suck your dick. I'll suck your dick for sponsorship. I'll suck your dick right now. What, what, what really? Yes. Yes. Get it out. This is happening. This is happening now. You've gone too far. I can't breathe.
53:06Pike Gardens, Gordon, he says, if you keep reiterating how old everyone's mums are, you think that's a deterrent from asking about bumming them? Bumming them? Bumming mum? What's going on here? What's the question? Flav, why do you need to keep reiterating how old everyone's mums are, you think that's some sort of deterrent from asking about bumming them. Ah. You want to bum old ladies, do you? Yeah, I'd say the main deterrent would be their consent. They're not up for it, mainly because they're really old. So you can make the jokes about it, but... I don't know, you know, right? I've seen this geezer on TikTok.
53:46He's a young man, handsome, handsome man. And he goes up to older ladies, ladies of a certain vintage. Nice. and he starts chatting them up, raising them up as the kids call it. Mate, I'm sure there are loads that just walk away from him, but lots of them are like, I'll tell you what, if I was 20 years younger. Yeah, but we're talking about 50-year-old broads. They are up for it. Let's make no mistake about it. 50-year-old chicks are still hot. Right, like three. But 70-year-olds. There is a mental, where's the mental line where you think this is a perversion rather than an attraction? yeah i suppose it's 59 59 is it is it relative to your age yeah you think do you think it's like a 25 year old if he's trying to rizz up a 50 year old is that too far probably is isn't it i think it's fine the older person suspect for sure i think it's fine uh i think there's an upper limit of like for men and women where like i feel like 70 is just too old if a 50 year old man started trying to take my daughter out i'd fucking kill him yeah sure yes but if you had a 25 year old son and they just banged a 50 year old absolute belter yeah you'd be like yeah that's absolutely fine but what's her name hannah wardenham she's like 50 oh my god if you were 25 you're telling me you'd be like oh no i'm a pervert because she's a pervert no she's she's a special breed of 55 that's what i'm saying i've never seen anything like it that's what i'm saying so this is what I mean just we've got to relax shame shame Ron Burgundy says does Valerie think we'll get any of these midfielders over the line she seems to know more about football than you yeah honestly I've spent some time with Valerie a few times this week and I do look at her and go I wonder if she knows the amount of people on the internet that know her name and talk about her regularly um call extreme says bring back Bardi's Brain Busters rebrand to Bass's Brain Busters if you can't get Bardi on secondment from the fighting cock from the extra inch Bardi can come whenever he wants just lives in Colombia now so yeah also I'm no good at quizzes I remember once Bardi told me off because we had to do a quiz where he would say a player's name and then we had to guess the number and I just devised a plan which was just go 1 through to 30 as quickly as possible until I got him right and he was absolutely fuming.
56:15So like if it was Harry Kane, because I couldn't remember it was 10, I'd just go one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, and then I said until I got it right. And he was fucking livid. And I was like, I've hacked the system. But that is you, John. You won't find a way to be right even when you're in a position where you might be right. You're allowed as many guests as you like. Right, well, I'll just do them in consecutive order. What's the wrong way to do? I was reading an article about the damage that Brexit has done to our economy in the last 10 years. And as I was reading it, I was thinking, I wonder how John would spin this.
56:40Well, they haven't done it correctly. they haven't gone far enough they haven't got the right information or they haven't written it in the right way they haven't done they haven't done Brexit properly otherwise it would have been that would have worked alright right yeah yeah do it they haven't gone hard enough that's my issue no it's fine leave it leave it leave it wrong podcast leave it leave it leave him
57:02Noel Fan says wrong podcast haha that's in response to the Bardi's brainbusters Cold Extreme says Bardi and Wendy both used to be regulars on the Fire and Cock Bardi used to do the aforementioned weekly quiz which I think should be brought back especially over the summer do you know how many fucking what a ball like like fair play to Bardi for doing it but I don't know people do like a quiz I don't know maybe we'll do something and Nullfan5311 says how long ago was that been listening for several years and now and don't remember Bardi or Windy ever being on the fighting cop wow that's been a long time that's been a long time there you go I birthed their careers bitches moved on got better people in in a way yeah massively bigger bigger people bomb them out yeah bomb them both out yeah uh not true they just started the extra inch and it was they went on their glorious way uh listen to the outro song i'm quite sure they're referencing there they are listen to the outro song you will hear windy reference that outro song is 14 years old which is mental wow um lamander's right foot says this is so weird because i stopped listening long enough ago that I didn't know Bardi and Windy were no longer on it.
58:10You motherfucker. You fucking cunt. You motherfucker. What a fucking. No, he's fucking. What he's done there is that is a sort of casual. They're going to read this. I know they're going to read this. And I'm going to hurt their feelings. I'll stop listening because it's gone shit. Fuck you. You fucking cunt. You fucking. Mate, you're a fucking piece of shit. Lamella's right. You understand that? You understand? up and you thought today i'm going to be a cunt and you're a success yeah just just come to any event and we'll fight and then we'll decide if i win you have to keep listening it's fine they don't have to listen john you know they do everyone that stops listening no they yeah no that is what i'm doing that you know like before it was like oh if you come to the social you can slap john bass's ass if you stop listening yeah you gotta fight me for it yeah and if i win you gotta carry on listening come to the social they win they take your ass if they win they take my ass yeah Seems like a fair trade.
59:10If I win, they just have to listen to a podcast. If I lose, I'm getting raped. They're going to take your ass. That's how confident I am. No, it's not the R word. It's them. Well, I'm not going to consent to it, mate. You have to. That's a deal. It's a bet, isn't it? You've got to consent to it. It's a trade. Yeah. Honestly, I couldn't think of anything worse than bumming you, John. So much air. Yeah. Either way, they lose, really. So big. Yeah. the direct opposite you're like the polar opposite of a woman you're like you couldn't separate like if you just put two ends of a scale and you put one end Kylie Minogue you'd be on the other yeah that's fair yeah it's fine we're gonna have to wrap this up because I think it's descending we've not behaved ourselves today at all nah it's the heat so what used concentrates as my foreskin gets itchy sometimes should I go to the doctor or should I just apply some antifungal cream and hope it goes away I think what's happened is you're not washing yourself properly mate yeah get some neutral soap just wash under your foreskin and you'll probably be fine yeah and just do that regularly I mean there are some people that don't do that like a normal human being you mean wash your cock once a day twice a day wash it in the morning when you wake up and have a shower and when you have a shower before bed wash it then as well if you've had a wank during the day then definitely wash it at the end of the day are you washing your cock twice a day well yeah because I shower in the morning I shower before bed so you have two showers a day yeah at the minute in this heat I am I mean I'm having four at the minute is it yeah man so I just cold shower every few hours I had a bath so I always have showers if I had a bath the other day with nearly freezing cold water yeah that's good so nice yeah cools your whole body temperature down that's good I felt great after yeah yeah I've been doing that that's good that definitely works so yeah do that yeah Yeah.
1:01:05Did you see the other thing that people are doing, putting hot water bottles, filling it up with cold water and putting it in the freezer? Not bad. What, and then shoving it up their ass? And then shoving it straight up your ass. Yeah. It cools your whole body, the core just drops massively. Yeah. Did I, I mentioned this on my pod yesterday, but I'm sure I've said it on air before about my mate. My pod. Sorry. That was unnecessary. Maybe it was on below the belt. I know, I know. I did the same. I couldn't help it. I couldn't help it. But one of my mates, when he was trying to cool down, he tried everything he was just burning up and he read somewhere that like your core body temperature was inside your body or inside your ass yeah I think so inside your ass your core body inside your ass which is why because I think inside your ass is the hottest the middle of your stomach might be a little bit warmer than inside your ass which is near an orifice I think he just needed a reason I think his logic was that's where you put a thermometer to check your internal temperature right right So he thought, well, if that's emanating heat, if I cool that down, maybe that'll cool down my core temperature.
1:02:06So he shoved the mini milk up his ass. Nice. Yeah, so I think that's... Just to try and bring his core temperature. Probably what he told you. He just wanted to shove it up his ass. Well, look, I'm not going to judge him. I'm just passing on what he told me. It's not my story. What flavor? Well, that was my first question. I was expecting him to say chocolate, but he actually went for vanilla because he just said, I just wanted to see, I just wanted to make sure if there was anything there that shouldn't be. So he kind of used it as a sort of check as well. And what's his full name? I won't say it on there.
1:02:39He's got kids. Not everyone should have kids. No. They weren't conceived with the mini milk, just to be clear. Just in case anyone's confused. It might help them a lot. Let's round off the podcast with a Tottenham Hotspur-centric question. and I know how I feel about this but I want to know you boys do Neverending Rad Dude says I have read that Romero now wants to stay at Tottenham would you keep him? Cal? No. No. I felt I felt long before the end of the season I think I might have said it on a preview or something or a five statement patreon.com forward slash fighting cock that I just feel like his time in the league is done I think I think referees are on to him I think I think he gets I think he gets obviously the Man United was a red card but I think the referees referee him quite harshly he's constantly fucking injured like he just got injured for Argentina the other day I think I'd even take less money for him to sell him abroad I just I don't think his body is suited to the Premier League in short and I think his injury record stands up to that top player when he's when he's fit and is motivated but no I just think his time in the Premier League actually but at Tottenham is over Could it be anything to do with the knee injury that was sustained at half time or was this before you mentioned it?
1:04:06Yeah It might be out until like November Yeah Oh shit fuck I've got to stay and maybe I Yeah Yeah I'm sick of him getting him gone like thanks for Bilbao that was great he's too hot and cold like for me as Cal said he gets injured all the time just a bit over him mate to be honest like he's never had a consistent run it's always just like he's going to be good when he's fit he's going to be good when he comes back from suspension he's had a lot of games where he hasn't been very good either I actually think he's quite an overrated footballer generally I think he gets a lot of leeway because he's like a decent footballer as in when he's on the ball he's decent I don't think he's a very good defender and I think he's quite he's quite an overrated player and I think when we look back on his entire career I think he won't he won't go down as like one of the greatest personally maybe not one of the greatest who have won a World Cup yeah I mean look he's won the World Cup you can't take that away from him well if he wins two he's not he's not going to play as he knows he's fucking injured yeah I just don't like the way he's conducted himself I don't like the fact when you go on his Instagram there's nothing about Spurs on there it's all about Argentina I don't know maybe that's fair I don't know it's normal I just there are other defenders there are other players for other football clubs that embody the club they play for and he just seems so far from that.
1:05:24You know, look, if you compare him to James Madison, not all the players are the same. I just, we got Van Hecker, we got a replacement. You're now not indispensable and you need to realise that. Which is a good thing for us. Just quickly on Madison, did you see his little kid singing that were in the spurs? So good. That was close. Cheers. Cheers. You were in San Francisco. I was, yeah. Yeah, but you had a lot of downtime. All right, mate. at least 20 podcasts when you're away no not a single minute alright well that's fine then that's fine yeah so you did Ruler Roost this week I didn't actually he came on he had Jack on whatever that's called Scab Pod yeah can't even bring himself to say it Scab Pod you invited me once invited me once so good I'm finishing this Strawberry Girls says any chance we can get more racist Flav content behind the paywall at patreon.com for slash five.
1:06:23Yes. Yeah. Yeah. If you want it, just sign up, send a message. I'll see it. Just say more racist stuff. Yeah. And I'll give you more racist stuff. Categorically, there is, that isn't true. There is no, there isn't any because I'm not a racist. That was, that was the, that was the silver lining with being relegated. Wasn't it? Is that we could kind of just drop this PC fast that we've got going on. And we could just treat ourselves every day. Stop saying treat ourselves in public. there's something we do behind the scenes and no one's listening right that's been the Fight Club podcast remember click the link if you want to say support the podcast you go to another you want to save money sign up you're going to save money and you help the podcast great go and listen to the Big John Bass show also go and listen to Below the Belt if you're into boxing there's 70 70 listens a week yeah give or take on a good week 75 for the boy yeah yeah alright bye bye bye bye bye bye bye bye bye

We answer your questions as the summer transfer window goes into overdrive. We chat about Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, Savinho and what Tottenham's aggressive approach says about the club's ambitions. We also debate whether Lucas Bergvall should stay or go, discuss Cristian Romero's future, look at whether Spurs can genuinely push for the top four, and somehow end up talking about Scotland, Tyson, San Francisco, Saily, freezing baths and why Jon thinks the Premier League should've relegated us while they had the chance. It's a proper off-season Q&A, in other words.
