In short
The Fight Club Podcast (Spurs-focused) debates “short-term” squad-building: whether reported deals (Fernandes, Tonali) are truly done, how Tottenham’s transfer strategy changed under new control, and how PSR/cash rules affect what they can sign. They also discuss keeping/loaning Vyskovic, concerns about squad depth if Madison is injured again, and general frustration with unreliable “ITK” transfer rumors.
Guests
Ricky and Alex (co-hosts). No other named guests appear in the transcript.
Key claims
- Fernandes and Tonali may be close, but “nothing is advanced currently” and fans shouldn’t treat ITK claims as guaranteed.
- Tottenham’s spending is a necessary reaction after near-relegation; critics calling it knee-jerk are challenged with examples of major signings.
- Vyskovic should be kept/loaned rather than sold, depending on fee and readiness.
- Madison’s injury return raises risk; there’s no clear replacement plan.
- Transfers often take time due to player-club negotiation chains and timing/power held by player camps.
Notable examples
- Kinski’s “redemption arc” after being criticized; credit debated for Igor Tudor’s decision-making.
- Vyskovic bids rejected by Spurs; Fabrizio Romano cited.
- “Fake news” and midnight Twitter bombs driving fan expectations.
- Vyskovic/Baraval/Bergerau discussed as level-fit for Spurs’ ambitions.

1:36It's a fighting Cock A camel, son Hello, welcome back to the Fight Club Podcast We've got Ricky and we've got Alex How you doing boys? All good Yeah Well Alex, I don't know, I can't tell if you are okay Through WhatsApp, actually It just seems like you're on the edge of panic all the time Whether or not we're signing Fernandez and Tonali what's because you lot keep going oh yeah yeah don't worry lads it's all sorted it's all sorted don't worry about it and every day nothing nothing's happening yeah this is like last season all over again everyone going be fine be fine i'm like is it though nothing we keep losing we lost again what's happening now nothing that was that was the worst when you'd be with non tottenham people yeah you're not gonna get relegated don't be silly you're not gonna get and then as the games go on the points are not coming and i'm like we are gonna get relegated That was the whole thing with me and my conflicts with my stepmother, Valerie, 75-year-old lady, who kept saying we wouldn't go down.
2:38And I'm like, all right, it turns out she was right. But not because she knew. It just, in the end, we were too big to go down. But it was like... See, I had the opposite. I had colleagues who, like I go to trade shows, and colleagues who I haven't seen for like 15 years come up to me and like, they don't say hi. They go, you might be going down this year, Paul. And I'm like, yeah, yeah, I know. Yeah, yeah. Can you tell my friends? Because none of them have seen you believe me. You haven't mentioned Arsenal in the Champions League final. Why don't you mention that? Oh, they're going to win the league.
3:14Why don't you get that one in there as well? I shared with a group the other day. So I have one of these like automatic like AI note takers that I have when I go into like these teams meetings. And it was with someone from an external company. So it doesn't name anyone. So it just says Speaker 1 and Speaker 2. And it was like, Speaker 1 asked how Speaker 2 is and mentioned how he was feeling about his football team recently. Speaker 2 said, let's not talk about it. But he's infused by the amount of money it seems that his football club may now have. Conversation went on in pleasantries around football.
3:53outside. That's just what it's been like constantly. Only time. Anyone outside of your friend. Only time Alex wants to talk about work. No, no, no football. No football chat. Work. We're here to work. Yeah, it fucking sucked. Big day for you though, Rick. Why's that? Well, we just know if you're talking bullshit or not. Today's the day. Yeah, yeah, I know. Yeah, today is the day. Yeah. What might I be suggesting, Alex? Well, Rick told me that everything would be that well actually what Rick told me was a chicken sign and an Italian flag and I was like Italian flag goes to Cockerel that's what it was yeah I know it sounded like KFC were about to start doing pizza or we're about to start doing fried chicken I was trying I was trying to be like you know all secretive like the ITKs are yeah it did work massively but we are all excited about today well you're talking about it it did work yeah yeah yeah um ricky have you are you being fed information uh i have got information his little face yeah uh can i ask where this information might be coming from you can't no no no no because that what would that would that would reveal that would reveal right all right well tell me tell me this rick from someone who doesn't believe anything until they're holding a scarf which no one's done for 15 years yeah if you if i if this was the other way around and i told you what my source was would you do one of your famous laughing or pinocchio nosed emojis to me in the group yeah yeah i would okay so it's fair to do it to me it's fair it's fair i i thought you would just i don't know so i know a couple of things about you ricky i know you're one of the biggest wind-up merchants ever yeah that's great pleasure in manipulating how people feel yeah generally yeah twisting a negative for his in for his enjoyment yeah she sounds quite evil when you say it like that but yeah yeah but let's just say it's it's on like let's bit of context it's not like if your mum's dying no no no how long she got left laughing emoji no no he does And he does, to be fair, always then end, when it gets a bit kind of aggy, he does end it with a nice little fishing emoji.
6:15Look, you've got caught one. Yeah, yeah. Just so he likes to fish. Yeah, I do like to fish, that's true. So we know that about you, Rick. But you're also on the podcast, and people are, I mean, people are constantly feeding, giving me information. Yeah. That doesn't come true. Yeah. Not all of them. The ones that give rare and very rare, and go, this is going to happen, And when they speak to me, I'll go, hello. Right, okay. But generally, what I get is nonsense. So I'm just trying to work out whether you've actually been given some and it's nonsense or Tonali is actually signing for Spurs today.
6:50I'll just say, hold on to your knickers, lads. Because there's a player coming. I can't work out, right? This is not me boasting. I'm the host of this podcast. Why is someone serving you information and I'm not getting it? I don't know. it takes all sorts doesn't it maybe they just that you're too busy you're the best that's why that's what they think I think Rick's probably a bit more trustworthy Ricky Ricky's in is your source inside the club I can't say anything because you know right heads will roll heads will roll
7:30brilliant what was the can someone fill me in because I've sort of missed this Bayern. People that aren't on Twitter won't know what I'm talking about either. Can you give me a bit of background on the beef between Tottenham, ITK? You don't know. Do you know, Ricky? I don't know a lot about it, but I believe that again, it's one of those things that What are they arguing about generally? I think it's that Fernandes is a done deal and it's come out that United are, you know, nearly got it over the line or whatever and someone has said i don't know who who it is yeah i've said that fernandez is done and then it's like all the journos saying oh you're not either here they're doing this that and the other one it's like oh but i thought you said that fernandez was done ah well i mean things change you can say one thing the club like ben jacobs said that as they was hours from signing the contract at tottenham on talk sport yeah it's done all that needs to happen is the ink has to go on the paper that could well be true he might have said that believe in it 100 to be true and then arsenal come along so i don't know what i don't i don't if people are trying to be of a service like you are to us trying to simply merely give information yeah if it turns out not to be true which don't believe you in future yeah that's fine we don't hate you for it or want to get you no i think people will be hating on these people if it doesn't come on yeah i'm no expert on Twitter, but I'm pretty sure that they might cop some unfortunate welts if they don't get this right.
9:10If exactly, exactly what he says happens. The thing is, right, like whoever has said this and, you know, Fernandes has agreed, blah, blah, blah. It can be at a point where, I don't know, they may know that Tottenham have gone to Fernandes and said, we'll pay you X amount. This will be your sign number for you, da, da, da, da, da. And he'll be like, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's all fine. That's all fine. It's down to you and West Ham to agree. So that in itself could mean that's finalised between Tottenham and the player, but it might not be finalised between Tottenham and West Ham. So I don't know.
9:48I don't know, whatever way you want to spin it, really. Just don't. I would say sincerely, guys, anyone listening, just don't read it. I know it's interesting and you want it, but there are so many stories circulating a club the size of Tottenham that 99 % of them are not going to come off. I mean, that's easy to say, but, you know, let's not pretend that any of us were not or have not, you know, you wake up at two o 'clock in the morning or whatever, you're just awake. Let's not pretend that any of us have not just refreshed Twitter to see if there's been a little midnight bomb. No, of course.
10:25No, no. Two o 'clock in the morning, people announced our biggest sign in Tonali. 100 million that has happened before though also because it's World Cup so people are on weird times so I'm a bit like you know what was the there was one not so long ago it was like one o 'clock in the morning when we got the link to one of these two so I'm just like I'm like let me see it's madness but I want to see if I do that little pull down where you refresh Twitter and you can see little Ornstein's little face and you're like oh I wonder what that is and then you scroll up and it's Kinski signed a new deal or you know happy with that by the way yeah fine is he our number one it looks like it doesn't it yeah Verbruggen he's down forget him I don't want to spend 40-50 million quid on a goal 100 % it's so fucking boring 100 % with you I'd rather have a worse goalkeeper than not spending money on a new one genuinely yeah absolutely 100 % what's the most boring transfer news update Spurs linked to Verbruggen oh really I don't want to hear it just do the deal and don't even mention it like we're just first game of the season is that Verbruggen a goal yeah I don't want to know.
11:29If it happens, it happens. I don't want to know anything about it. I don't want the money, nothing. Five-year deal for Kinski with one on top. So, yeah. I mean, we talked about it with the boys on the other podcast, but what a redemption arc from four or five months ago. Sensational. Kept us in the league. I mean, can you imagine from his performance against Athletico and how bad that was spoken about? and that he'll never he'll never get Premier League chance again Peter Schmeichel said you might never see him again oh my god it's just shows absolute fucking nonsense yeah we've just we've never seen hundreds of thousands of pounds a week millions of pounds into this contract and development and we just go that's it never again it's nonsense but maybe unpopular opinion Ivor Tudor saved Kinski's career this is what did you listen to the last podcast?
12:26Because John said, don't shake your head. Like, I don't listen. I'm too cool for the podcast now. Just remember, you got here by winning the competition. Don't do that. Yeah. You listen to every episode twice. In your car, when you're driving, selling your lenses or whatever you do. He suggested that taking him off, is that what you think? That would have saved him? Yeah, he did 100%. He did the right thing. He took, he got, Tudor took so much grief for that, but he did 100 % the right thing because if that had gone yeah four or five where he made another two for even if they were kind of half mistakes even if he'd kind of not got a full hand to something it still went in he would have just got it would have just been whatever that was that night would have been multiplied by four it doesn't matter if he made like three world-class saves after that so it was 100 % the right decision whether he should have started or not maybe a different argument but yeah it was the right decision should we should we be praising Langer because it is he's the man that brought Kinski in isn't he I think it's absolutely fine to give Langer credit for the good work that he does it's also fine that's not how it works is it no no no slag him off for everything he's cunt if he gets Tonali and Fernandes then still slag him off he probably had nothing to do with that he's not allowed I said that's what I was about to say that because it's exactly what people were saying.
13:49It was nothing to do with him that much. Of course he won't. Just sat there in the room taking notes. Sat there in absolutely nothing. Crunching the numbers. Trying to find new little blonde footballers to bring over from Scandinavia. I mean, I think there'd be a... You would have to give Langer some credit if we did start signing, you know, if we get Tonali and Fernandes over the line. But then you also know it isn't really him. We've just opened the purse string. What's the expression? you've opened the purse strings. Is that right? Yeah. Loosened. Loosened. You've loosened it. Loosen the purse strings.

16:01So I think every director of football can do a good job if there's loads of money for him to spend. It's when there isn't under Daniel Levy where he's... I don't know. I don't know who he's... There was an article in Football... Some fucking bullshit. football insider two two four seven oh fucking look i can't i'm not even gonna click the links i know it's gonna be guff but anyway the deservey has only been there a few months giving up complete control of your club like that is a mistake and it seems to be a knee-jerk reaction to the crisis of last year well you you think it was a knee-jerk it was like we don't have any choice this is it that's exactly what I want I want the biggest jerk possible because that that's not happening again whatever stops this happening for a third season on a trial even if we completely implode in two years time I don't care I just can't have three years of that or it's a risk and a gamble that's going to pay off yeah we had to do something we nearly got relegated twice what else do you do when you're you're standing on the edge of the precipice and looks down into certain doom, you've got to react then.
17:17Why are they now being criticised? I mean, I guess they're saying we've given off too much to De Zerbi. Oh, have we? Because, I don't know, we've managed to convince Robertson, Sanasi, Van Hecker, probably Tonali and Fernandes and Savio to join a nearly relegated football club. If that's a knee-jerk reaction, I don't really mind. Weren't Robertson already agreed before De Zerbi came in? it was supposed to come January, weren't it? You're nitpicking, Rick. How does that help my point, Rick? Oh, okay. Oh, right. Yes. Yes. Right, go on then. What? Yes, it was. Well, I thought you were saying that Deserby is he's got free reign of every transfer and he's the one dictating, but that wouldn't indicate that he is though, would it?
17:59I don't think so. Yeah. Sanessi as well. So it's not DJ. It's just his wanker. He's just winding me up. Yeah, exactly. He's a football insider as well. Jesus Christ. That wasn't nitpicking, was it? That was great. Great picking. Well done, Rick. Great picking, man, mate. Good great picking. Not nitpicking, great picking.
18:23Good.
18:27Apparently, Brighton are not giving up on Luka Vyskovic as top target as centre-back. Half the three bids, apparently, have been rejected by Tottenham Hotspur. They're still pushing behind the scenes, according to Fabrizio Romano. and will develop talks in the next few days. Now, originally, it's weird. This feeling around him has shifted, hasn't it? I don't know. Is it just me? Where we've gone, we have the best centre-back in Europe. We've got the best centre-back in Europe and he's going to play for Tottenham Hotspur for the next 10 years and he's going to captain the football club. Yeah. Two, fucking didn't want him anyway.
19:04That's the energy. I don't know where it's come from. Is it because he's maybe suggested that he wants out? He likes some posts, doesn't he? He likes some posts around Romano saying that people were bidding for him. And I think I definitely have moved on the subject because I was livid, absolutely furious. And now I'm a bit like, I mean, he didn't set the world on fire. I mean, it's just mental because he's 19, marking the best striker in the world. And I was a bit like, hmm. how good is the german league how good is it really yeah and i just i just think probably after the initial news of it i think a lot of people probably have sat back and gone well it probably does depend on the fee if someone's giving you 45 50 million quid and a salon and a salon and if you or even if we've maybe got first dibs on a buyback or whatever if if he then gets sold on on top of that for 100 mil and he goes to a madrid or whatever you know that's in three four years time but we are just purely not in a position to do what brighton are going to be able to do for him because we can't afford to have a prospect there now because of the situation we're in now you might then say well you know we shouldn't be in this position and this is a fuck up by the club where we then now have to or not have to but it's advantageous to us now to let a prospect of this standard go and that's very true and that that bit i think can you remain to be pissed off about but on the whole i mean most of i can't remember many where we've let go who have turned into people where we would want to be spending 100 million quid to bring them back for his argument's sake you know so yeah pace obviously the pace thing has obviously always been a thing with him and with the way that deserve he wants to play i just i do struggle with it so he'd need to go on loan if he's not willing to do that then you have to get rid and that's just one of those things so yeah anything north of 40 and i think it's probably the yeah i think i think it's okay rick don't let him out of our sight loan him that's all he's got you can get loaned to anyone you want anyone i don't care who but you ain't going that's what i'd say like we understand that you want to play football.
21:23We understand that you feel like you're ready. We understand that you want to play for Tottenham, but let's just, you know, you're only, how old is he, 19? Yeah. So, I mean, come on. So, yes, I'd agree with you. Keep him inside the football club, loan him out, and let's just see where we are in a year. Apparently he was looked at by Thomas Frank and their team, and they said he, they thought that he wasn't ready for the Premier League yet. Maybe we should start him then. Yeah. Thomas Frank nearly got us relegated so I don't really want to listen to what he's got to say no fair fair but I did a podcast a really interesting podcast with Ben White I actually published it on the Fighting Cock feed as well just in terms of the kind of spending power so I implore you to go and listen to that podcast because it really breaks down what it is we can do and why we can do what we can do and what the new changes in rules mean so I don't want to butcher that conversation but we have a good, we have a fair amount of wriggle room when it comes to SCR and the amount of money we can spend on transfers this season.
22:36If we sold Vuzkovic and Beraval for say a combined£90 million, it would mean, should we have the cash in the bank to pull these transfers off that we could bring in 200 million pound players you'd need the money in the bank to be able to do this right it's just saying the wiggle room if the cash injection the second cash injection is true we can sign as many players as we can pay the upfront cost of that transfer plus the signing on fee does that make sense so 90 million pound isn't 90 million pound on a new 90 million pound player it's more like say if you're agreeing to pay 20 million pound that's that that for a player that's eventually going to cost 100 million over the duration of his contract you could do that effectively two or three times if you wanted to yeah that would be tonali and b fernandez yeah um and maybe a couple more so when you know that it changes something a little bit because lonely you don't get that you don't get that benefit i see what you're saying yeah yeah okay yeah so it's about to decide that's why i'm thinking they're open to listening to and yeah it will be gutting like if in three or four years he's now the best center back in europe and he could have played for us for sure but it is very rare like you think of those the players that where that's happened the only ones i can really think of where that has really really happened other people like you know salah maybe Salah, De Bruyne and maybe Piquet Took him ages though, didn't it?
24:14Piquet, yeah, yeah He had to go to Italy and do it So we'll see I mean, you know, there are others that can be gone You know, Vicario's going to go Saar will probably go Tell maybe You know, there's others if Vuskowiczing doesn't come off True, except the difference between those is like Tell's selling does nothing for us in terms of PSR unless we sell him for more money than we paid for him. That's true. Yeah, but with Beraval, we would have paid that off now. And obviously Vucevic would have paid that off. Saar would be able to pay his off. So Saar would be a really good example. So we've got to keep Tal.
24:53We'll probably have to keep Tal. It doesn't have benefit. Much of your dismay, Alex. It's your face as we're discussing this. Just checking. Just checking. Just checking. I think, yeah, until he's been with us a couple more years and you might get £40 million for him. Yeah, maybe. But I have no, I don't have any issue with Tell. I think he should start next season ahead of anyone we sign. Do you? Get that quiet. Mate, you fucking, you should, God, to have an eye into our WhatsApp group sometimes, there was about a six-hour argument about whether Cody Gakpo was good enough to play for Liverpool.
25:33And it got to the point where I don't think anyone was saying anything they truly believed you just wanted to disagree with each other i had to mute the group i don't want to listen about fucking kody gacpo anymore you have to mute it again did you mate it's currently it's currently archived currently good yeah what i'm saying was i think you're not driving me mad no it's because what happened in that is because you just can't handle anything that isn't a thousand percent agreement with you so what what happened is we've been having all these links to these amazing players and stuff now and then obviously the gacpo came up one come up and it did it attracted a bit of uh not just in our group i think online everyone was a bit like no absolutely not and i was like a good a decent player and then everyone's like no shit and i was like he's not like we've just watched him score like a goal in the world cup like yesterday uh so he's not he's not shit is he and they go yeah yeah rubbish tells better and i was like what what like it's just not true and it just i love the fact that we because we'd had a couple of we'd had a nice few days to nali fernandez savinho suddenly we're like oh yeah we don't need we don't need gacpo get him shouldn't even be in a conversation that was just what the discussion is which hopefully that's the case if we can sign players that are on a different level to to him i'm all aboard that lovely but what i was saying was i was trying to say he's better than what we have and for some reason that was controversial no no and then every link that came up underneath it you went yes so again and that was just and then i can just imagine like if we had signed him there would just be the culture war of our whatsapp group would be whether for the next two three years is is gag post shit or not sorry to stop the podcast once again but we have to because we've got to do a read we've not got to do a read want to do a read like grateful to do the read.

And he'd score, he'd have a good game, and everyone would go, yeah, and Alex would go, I fucking told you. And then every time we'd go rubbish, Alex, look, he's rubbish. we had that conversation for two years we did it with we did it with Mourinho we did it with Posta Koglu and I just think under De Zerbi we can unite as one finally together we do this all the time about players all sorts of stuff don't you think like now we have De Zerbi we can unite the clans unite us unite us I'd like it to be but this is this is football innit everyone's got different opinions it's what makes it fun innit alright well give me your opinion Ricky on like someone who is well give me any I'm putting you on the spot right good any unfashionable opinion about Spurs squad like one that might rub people under your unpopular opinion about anyone in the Spurs squad actually it could even be about Fernandes don't know much about I'm not excited that's what you said the other day yes I did say that are you a bit more excited now?
29:18no not really I've watched his highlights and I'm like yeah okay right this is who you want to play Tonali yeah I'll have a bit of that yeah good what is it one or the other well no I think by the sounds of it we're trying to get both of them greedy isn't it it is greedy what's going to happen to Benignor Benignor who has the most tackles in the World Cup yeah it does sound good however when you look at who else is on the list you're like oh where is it here uh granite zaka's second pedro vitae of ecuador i i they could have made that up i don't know who the fuck he is mohammed abu taha from the jordan he's got 22 get him in immediately and a couple of others you might have heard of ali anderson uh i don't know what happens to you're right what what does happen to benson core i mean what's happening with polinia as well is he is he coming back or i feel like if that was gonna happen it would have happened yeah do you think he's just sat at home waiting for the phone like it just keeps no you can't use the landline i'm waiting for a call stop off the internet use the payphone around the corner right wait for this one to ring yeah do you not remember having to use the internet and the phone line yeah yeah and i had to direct from my dad's bedroom in my house you guys might remember this actually there was a staircase and it was another floor and then we were the next one up i would have to unplug the phone which would then for people younger than us it would just mean you was constantly engaged for however long you was on the internet the phone line was engaged and i would have to run this telephone wire all the way up to my bedroom to download porn what the top floor yeah oh you know that's a long cable no no no the cable luckily came in from my dad's room so midway not all the way up from the bottom because my house was very narrow but it was very tall all you could hear is just a bag like up the stairs gal's having a wank no no i used to thought i was doing schoolwork that's what you thought i'm writing an article about kosovo or something that's what i was doing at the time it's quite interesting like our secret folders that we used to have it was a floppy disk back then yeah and basically all you could fit on this floppy disk was like mpegs that were about four seconds long so it was the same cum shot over and over or like an orgy one of them was an orgy three seconds of an orgy nice um and i i um obviously that's that was quite good for back then not now like you can stream for hours hd stream back then it was three clips of an orgy and you're not sure if it was it could have it's straight it's oral gay orgy it didn't yeah there's a lot of flesh yeah um and we uh i kept hold of that floppy disk for too long it comes to a point where things had moved on and i didn't need it anymore but i was kind of like connected to it in a way that i didn't want to believe that it's like you know like toy story when he doesn't want to play with his toys anymore because he gets too old yeah i felt like that with this floppy disk full of grot anyway uh the i my girlfriend found it um i might have left it in the floppy disk drive oh no she went mental she went mental Oh, really?
32:53Yeah. I think at 18, you know who I'm talking about as well. I think about 18, I don't know why. She grew up in a household of girls, and men are generally the ones that bring porn into that. Maybe less so now, but certainly back then. Bring it into a house. Because it's physical. That's what I mean, because it was physical back then. It was physical. So if there was going to be porn in the house, it would have been a man who had brought it in. It's like yours, isn't it, Rick? where your mum's ex-partner used to hide these fiestas under your hockey magazines. Yeah, under my ice hockey magazines.
33:27I know. It's weird. It's so strange. Just one day, just going back through my season, ice hockey magazine, flicking through. Ice hockey magazines. And then there's a weird thicker magazine under all of these. It's a porno. How did that get in there? That's not mine. What's that doing in there? Before I knew I had my trousers down, I was wanking. Didn't know where it came from. Yeah, yeah. Didn't even bat an eyelid to try and join the dots where it had come from. Just shit, man. Three tits. Let's go. Immediately start whacking. Yeah, immediately, yeah. Yeah, she went mental at me. And I think she was going to leave me and everything.
34:08She really shamed me about that. Wow. Yeah. That was just the start of the crazy. There was lots more that went on top of that. Let me tell you. where were we why were we talking about that genuinely can't I think the initial question was what was my unpopular opinion about
34:36what you've gone Rick I don't really have one but I am slightly I wouldn't say worried but number 10 Matt like madison we got madison right he's coming back from injury um he had a few games a few runouts doing training outside okay you get to a certain point of fitness but you need game time you need that sharpness you need to be comfortable in your body you need all these things right yeah what happens if he gets injured again xavi is dead for this he won't be back till february And then even if he gets to February and again, you've got the same issues of sharpness, match fitness, comfortable with your body, all that lot.
35:21But what happens in that meantime if Madison dies? Yeah, if he isn't the same player or if he breaks down, God forbid. Yeah. It's a good question. We are, we don't have an answer, I don't think. No, so that's the thing that makes me a little bit, I haven't really seen any links in that area. Yeah.
35:55But do we need to go big in that area? That's the thing. You don't want to get to a point where it's like, oh, okay, we've got two excellent players. One's just injured, we'll wait till he comes back because without in due crisis, you know. I wish I hadn't asked you that problem. Right, okay. I hadn't even thought of that. Anything else? No. Okay, good. No. All right. Kulisevsky, I haven't seen anything of him. Well, I saw something that there was a bit of noise that actually back in the next kind of needs another few weeks but should be all right for pre-season. We've heard that for two years.
36:33We've heard that for two years. yeah I've heard him say that it was a knock he'll be back next week 18 months ago the man the fat man that you've got emblazoned in that frame behind you said that

36:47that was honestly this World Cup coverage I turned one game on fucking Postacoglu sat there I turned another game on fucking Frank sat there mate Thomas Frank being there was a travesty like what why are you asking his opinion look how shit we were statistically I know you had problems with Posticoglu. Statistically, the worst manager we've ever had. No, but not even the questions that he got on that. How was your break from football been? Not like, oh, anything you regret? Yeah. Anything? What went wrong? Yeah, nothing. He was just sitting there happy. Yeah, just smiling. He doesn't even want another job.
37:27He's just smiling away like nothing, like he hadn't done any damage to us. Just happy he's in America. so happy you want me to go over there and talk about stuff to you he's really fucking cool no one is blaming him no one is blaming him and this is why now we should be listening and watching Jed Spence even more because obviously he's done you know not shaking certain people's hands excellent him giving it to Cuccarella at the end of last year and Cuccarella shitting himself but then I saw a reminder of the clip of him just walking past Frank when Frank's trying to get him to stop and go and clap the fans or whatever.
38:04And he was just like, no, you're done to me. Giving his little hand wave. Jed knows. We just need to listen to what Jed kind of knows. He's a good judge of character. Yeah. Strong, isn't he? Yeah. Strong in his beliefs. Convictions. Knows his mind. Good. Yeah. Muslim. Yeah.
38:24Alex's face. Why was that? Why did you face it? Huh? No, he's first Muslim to play for England. That's amazing. I know, but you didn't say any of that. All you said was the name of his religious base. I don't know if you can say anything else. I'm saying that these... Say stuff like that afterwards. Snap it up. My point was that conviction in the religion and using religion as a way to live your life by professionally, I think that's why he is so strong in these beliefs. Xavi Simons said this. Someone said, Arthur said, you're going to be in your prime next year. and he said, with hard work, everything will come.
39:05The goal is winning trophies with my club. For sure, we will achieve that one day. We achieved it last year, shabby. But yeah, no, I'll get your sentiment. We already are a trophy-winning football club. But I like the way they're talking. I like the way there's a sort of atmosphere around the football club, but now we're serious. What John said yesterday, and he was reiterating that kind of meme, You should have relegated us. Yeah. That's so good. You are in trouble. You have the opportunity. Yeah, I want to do a TIFO of that. Yeah. Yeah. That needs to be coming up on the overlap. Is it like you just walking in, that's smoke and sparklers behind you, you're back, you haven't gone anywhere.
39:48And then every answer is when we're soaring next year and I go, yeah, but it won't last, you'll fall away from the top in a few months. You can't get anything over the line. Just every time we've spanked someone and you're on that show on the Tuesday. You just say that before you start any sentence. You lot are fucked up. You've done fucked up. Oh, you should wear a T-shirt that just says you should have relegated us. Oh, yeah. What, forever being blazoned on the internet with that T-shirt? You'd think that's a good idea? Well, I don't know. At the time, just saying it now, it felt good. It felt great, yeah.
40:25Yeah, yeah. But then when we actually do get relegated next year, It's going to be fucking terrible. It'll be awful. It'll be the worst thing anyone's ever done. I know. We'll be saddled with the most debt with Tonali and Fernandes to go down. Both of them putting transfer cards and requests in, but we can't get them out of their football club because of the amount of money we're paying them. Oh, God.
40:52Paul O 'Keefe shined a bit of reality on how things work in terms of negotiations. Player camp holds all the power, and that's before you even try to negotiate with the club. Spurs can't dictate the timings. It doesn't help that our fans are wound up by fake news of agreements. Nothing is advanced currently. I think that might have started the war, that one. Maybe. Yeah, I think that probably was it. I think that was Ned Stark's head that kind of got it all going, really. But he's right, though. It's such a complicated thing. like even getting transfers done with other clubs is hard i remember having a conversation with a gentleman called daniel gese a sports lawyer i owned he's actually a partner in a sports lawyer sports firm and do a lot of premier league contracts and stuff and i interviewed i tried to get him on the lab and it's just he's really difficult to pin down now he's a big deal when he last spoke to me he was less of a big deal so it's quite hard he's much busier now but he um He spoke about that it's not just the clubs you're dealing with, it's the clubs that are dealing with the club of the player that you're trying to sell.
41:59And there's this chain. It's like being in a house, a chain in a house where you're just waiting for people to sell their players so that you can move on and the money will trickle down. This is why often, like Pratichi was often spoken in operating for the club that we were buying the player for to find them suitable transfers. Yeah.
42:21But, yeah. The problem with it is, right, is like you see like these transfers, particular ones of these get protracted out and it's frustrating, blah, blah, blah. And then someone will say, I don't know, Chelsea have signed whoever that kid is that they've signed. And it kind of like the news breaks on the Monday and he's signed by the Wednesday, right? And everyone's going, see, look at that. A proper football club would just go out and do that. Like we've done that loads. We did Odebeer without even anyone. I mean, why? I don't know but what we did Odebeer uh before anyone had even like no one even knew he was and we we'd signed him there was not even a there wasn't a fab tweet there wasn't an Ornstein tweet nothing it was just done uh and so it just all depends on on those situations on what else is going on you cannot get these massive things over the line and even City with Anderson we only see it as oh they've linked for him talked about him and now he signed him in the space of a couple of weeks and we think it's done quick but that's because we're not absolutely involved in the minutiae of you know their social media if we were city fans we'd have been we'd have known every twist and turn this this chancellor had ever taken so yeah it's it's par for the course i'm looking at a block of uh four you remember like like the blur yeah do you know the blur front cover when you've got sort of the artwork of rick yes and it was a selection from the season and we played under Conte, I think, or it might have been, yeah, it would have been the end of Conte's reign.
43:50And it's a choice of a man of the match for this particular game. I'm going to send you a picture because these are four players that played in a Premier League players match for Spurs. We say four years ago. And one of them, I couldn't tell you who he is. I have no idea who this player is. And he was part of the man of the match. in the group now, in the work group. Have a look, see if you can find that player. So we've got Oliver Skip, we've got Brian Hill, we've got Jaffer Sandganger and some bloke. I know. Do you? Yeah, I know, Bob. Rick, do you know?
44:33Is that the goalkeeper, Gallini? Is that him? Oh, I don't know, Bob. Yeah, I'm pretty sure. I was going to say Belize. It's not Belize. No, no, it's not Belize. No, Rick's right. Yeah, it's that waste of space keeper we had. Right. That is just terrifying. Look at it. Oliver Skip, Brian Neal, Tanganga and Golini. Yeah, I don't know if it is him. No, it is because you can see, you can see, just look at the bottom of his neck. You can see a little bit of orange. It's a goalkeeper's kit. Ah, yes. I forgot he even existed, Golini. He went through a little phase, didn't he, where we thought maybe. Paul Lopez, another one.
45:16Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Sick of these cunts. I'm sick to death of these wankers. No more wankers. Brian Hill. Valise was just sold. Like someone, someone literally scouted Valise and where they travelled, they flew to Brazil. Is it Brazil or Argentina? Argentina. They flew to Argentina to watch him play and go, he's got something in this kid. Ow! When? At what point did he have something desire I'll tell you what he's got desire you can't be snapping both hamstrings and then crawling along the pitch without a bit of desire we were talking after he scored yeah he was sold this week or given away I don't know I posted it we got about we got some we got a few million quid didn't we I think I don't believe it but we we were just thinking about our favourite release moments and none of them was the goal that he scored it was when he'd done both his hamstrings and he was on his hands he saw his hands and knees crying his eyes out crawling crawling to the touchline to try and get off the pitch is that right or am I embellishing this I kind of no no he did he did it's all true someone else said he says the highlight for him was when he pulled his hamstring and someone passed to him and he couldn't kick it he just started crying what if I was strange what a strange young man and there was that photo with him as well when he had that absolute honking pipe on him that was a highlight a highlight for me yeah he had a big old willy yeah didn't he break his nose as well didn't he in one game as well more than likely yeah good alright anything else lads there's anything we've covered yeah are you guys looking forward to our European glamour time at White Hart Lane.

49:09You know, this is a good thing. Yeah. Rick, it shows at least that the club have moved forward from the noughties. Yeah. Where the best news from the summer was who we're going to play before the start of the season. Who we got? Inter Milan. Wow. Fiorentina. Did you say we've got Roma? We've got the might of Roma coming to the lane. We've got to go to that, Rick. Yeah. Got to go to that. Of course we're going to that. What do we see on who's signing? Darren Bent. Yeah. Darren Bent playing, is he? Well, he's good. He was good for Ipswich and signed him from Charlton, did we? Yeah. Yeah, we've got to go to that, Rick.
49:45Fuck me. How far we've come. I know. Now we're the glamour friendly. Hoffenheim are like, fuck, we've got to go Spurs. We've got to go Spurs. Were they up to a half of mine recently, Rick? Have you kept in tab since Sessingham? No, no, no. Not since Sessingham left. Yeah. I swear he was there, weren't he? Yeah, he was there. we could talk about Giovanni Lo Celso hey what a player fucking absolutely always said he was great always that's what I've ever hated a player more you've got to get over this Alex no because you don't you just don't you have loads how no how Richarlison what could deserve though no no he's always doing everything he possibly can not always to great effect.
50:38It's just shitly. You can't do everything you possibly can, but it's shit. This is all I can do. No, I understand that. I understand this is all you can do. Right, well, I'm using that. All you can do isn't good enough. Okay, well, I'm using that about every player we ever talk about now, then. If they're trying their best, but it's not good enough, then we get to take them. This is it. It's not good. It's not enough to just try your best anymore. We've been in that club for too long. If your best isn't good enough, fucking get out. Well, yeah, but I'm glad we didn't get rid of him last because I think we might have been relegated to our Richarlsons.
51:10No, no, because if your best was good enough, Oliver Skip would still be playing in our midfield. He did his best. Good. I'm glad he did his best. He'd be fucking wank. Gotta get rid of the wank players. I know, this is what I keep saying, tell. I don't agree with you on tell, but if there's anyone there and it goes right, clearly, there's players that are clearly not good enough for us now, Ricky. Um, that clearly not good. Uh, Dragerson? Happily get out. Yeah. Baraval? I'm not fussed about Baraval, I've got to be honest, yeah. I'd still keep him. That's not going to be a popular opinion. I think a lot of people really like him.
51:52I just don't know. People say, I really like Baraval, but they can't explain why they like him. Or give any examples of when he's done something really good. I heard you talk about him before, right? And I'm, I agree. but I think there's an awful lot of people that are just you know because he's not bad he's not shit but also again we're in this position where we need the level of player that we need to do what everyone wants us to do what we all want unfortunately is not that dude right now it might be in a few years time and again him Vuscovic if they can go on loan and we can sell out other people instead and that would be my preference sure but they're not you know we have had a lot of players who we have stuck with for a long time by saying that you know they're going to be great you know i can't i don't even want to bring up lamella's name you know whilst rick is here i just bit my lip that's bleeding i can taste the blood so angry but there's loads where we're like you know he's gonna come good it's him you know it's him and it just it doesn't happen and we may be wrong about Bergvau but it's not he loves a foul and I'll tell you he loves giving the ball away and he also quite likes you know nearly giving away penalties which you know go and do that on loan somewhere else again my preference would be Vusticovic and Bergvau a Premier League loan and then see where we are just make sure De Terbi's still here in 12 months time um and then go from there but yeah I'm not I'm not I wouldn't be devastated devastated with Bergvau especially if he goes outside the Premier League how do you give him enough time to impress and get better in the situation we're in I just can't see the ways the games are going to come from for him so I appreciate from his point of view about why he'd want to leave you know why not just go go on loan because you are at a club where you know that in the right circumstance you will play it's not like he hasn't had opportunity to play and he's been there three years you know he's played a lot of football so you know appreciate where the club is at this point and go right you know have somewhere that's alone where it doesn't need you to move your entire life right now and just see where you are in 12 months that that on a long contract that would i just yeah i i struggle with the reasoning from both sides really what your uh okay in those bits right what what your thoughts on Archie Gray?
54:16Because if we're signing like Fernandes, Tonali, got Benton Kerr. I think his time is going to be limited this year. Unless, unless we, unless, unless, unless I'm like, I don't know how, I don't really know how Deservey's going to play and who's his favourite is going to be. No one knows. You can imagine if we do bring in Fernandes and Tonali, then yeah, there'll be limited opportunities for Archie Gray and he probably, I don't know. Maybe it's a slightly different situation because I think, you know, it's quite well known that, you know, Baerval probably ended up choosing us because he felt was probably promised a bit more game time than he was going to have.
54:55And he's been given loads of game time. Exactly. And also, but I think with Gray, it was probably more of a, it sold more of a way of a developmental kind of pathway. 40 million quid. But a developmental pathway to where he gets to that point. And obviously he's gone way beyond that because he's played a hell of a lot of football. So I still, I think, I think Gray will stay and I think he'll get used, you know, as and when. There would be, I mean, you should think people are upset by selling Bergvot. There would be a lot of people upset if Gray went, I think. So I just think, I agree. And I would be upset too.
55:34And how much, this is the problem, you know, the conversation we started at the beginning of the podcast where giving complete control over the Derby, if he's like, I mean, I'm not responsible for the development of Archie Gray. I'm responsible for getting the best players to play in my system. I think we, I think, and I've mentioned this before, but I don't know how you feel about this, Ricky, is I feel like,
56:03I don't, I don't want to, I don't care about a young player's development. I couldn't give a shit, really. This is where I've got to. Yeah. I don't, I know it should be nice to have young players come through, but the only, the best players should be anywhere near our first team. The reason, why is Nico Reilly now playing for Manchester City in England? Because he's good enough. Yeah. Right. A hundred really good players they've got in their lower, their youth set up and developments. They won't ever play for Man City because they are so good. Arsenal have had Saka they've had Louis Skelly has even played you know hardly at all this season and they sent Wanieri off on Marseille he looked incredible because they know despite them being great talents they are not going to help them get to where they need to go right now we have to operate like that that little fly landed in the red yeah I'm sorry I just I was sitting there and I noticed that fly yeah it's landing on Ricky's there do you agree yeah yeah yeah yeah i do i mean what your um your option is either we have a lot of senior players we've champions league or we blood the youngsters and finish out what do you want yeah yeah yeah we haven't won up players please yeah champions league please so then there's loads of games yeah there's what you love now the fly yeah you loved that didn't you i thought it was on my screen so i batted away on my screen but it wasn't it was on the side of ricky's head sorry sorry because i do so many pods with ricky i've seen that fly land on his head about 15 times so i don't know what it is the the flies in my house have got fucking mental so can i just say i was gonna say one thing about um about gray and so like everyone wants young players to come through of course we do like you know especially with us of what we've seen with harry kane and that type of stuff but what what does happen if they are this good then they these young players get opportunity out of adversity when the club is going through difficult times bentaleb delhi alley harry kane you know those guys that came through and the ones that have stayed around obviously delhi is a bit of a different situation but stayed around because they were good enough and it was like well you just cannot drop those like you know the eric diet well eric diet i know we went back and forth for a while but for a period of time in the middle of midfield you know He was right up there.
58:32So they came into these adverse circumstances, started games, and then were like, God, yeah, well, we can build a squad around them. These players, whilst they've come in and done okay and done well, none of them you'd look at and go, well, fucking hell, we struggled, but they were absolutely incredible last year. They need to stay and build in. That hasn't happened. Also, these other players... Sorry, you finished. I was just going to say, when you talk about those players who... you know young players start like nico run and stuff because they are good enough that that's what happens we just we just haven't had that just because we've got some who have played and played well that's where you have to be kind of really ruthless and say yep did well okay fine but not at the level where they are now inserted into that first team and we build around that we let them down we let them down right and the reason why we let them down and why bearville probably will leave and archie gray might end up leaving maybe not this summer maybe in January on loan or next year, is because they were brought in a clutch of young, really talented young players and they were thrown into the first team and going, just get on with it.
59:35Nico Reilly is as good as he is, and he is incredible, has walked into a league title winning team surrounded by confidence and surrounded by leaders. Whereas at Spurs, it was like, no, we're not going to buy any of those. We are going to buy Odebeer, we're going to buy Tell, we're going to buy Lucas and we're going to buy Archie Gray and then you've just got to make it work. Andrew's let down as well. Andrew's let down. And they were played out of position as well. Archie Gray playing centre-back for not so many games. Bergvot shifted in number 10, number 8. Then he's even played out on that left side of the wing as well.
1:00:20Yeah, that is true. That's a good shout, yeah. very kind of difficult to stake your claim on the team where you're being shunted around everywhere expected to play different you know different formations or different kind of bits that you need to for the game I sense it's like you're just feeling a bit tired Rick and I can appreciate that because you spent hours talking about Spurs today on other people's podcasts and now you're on the phone yeah yeah again again and now you're on your podcast. The energy level is not quite there, Ricky. I've picked up. No, no, not at all. This is like him going out fucking up.
1:00:59You can't say not at all. We can see it and hear it. No.
1:01:07You can't even put a sentence together. It struck me more as you've been out fucking other people and then just come back to us and just put in the most basic performance because, you know, you can barely get it up. Mate, this wasn't a basic performance. I, you know, I brought some... unpicking didn't I I'm unpicking yeah yeah yeah no no I'm not I just sensed there was like towards the end of the podcast you just seemed to get quieter and quieter and quieter yeah it was that comment and not that you've just been whoring yourself out around the podcast getting your little arse filled in how many has he done today just one three no rule the roost I did rule the roost oh did you of course you did yeah I've got I've got The only thing I can add to this is I was clearing out my draw earlier.
1:01:54And look what I found. Found. A little Spursley Arsenal ticket. When was it that? January 95? Monday 95. Let's have a look. Sheringham and Armstrong 2-1? No, that was 97. That was 97 because I was out there again. 2nd of January, 1995. Let me have a look. Oh, 4-1. Yeah, 4-1. Campbell, or Judas, sorry, Sheringham and Armstrong. I don't remember that. Was that in the league? 4-1. I'll give you a clue, which might... 4-1, Alex. It might jog your memory. It was a very cold evening. And what would you wear if it was cold? What? A warm jacket? Gloves? Yeah. As a football player? Oh, no. Go on. Go for it.
1:02:44Go for it. Oh, I know. I know what it is. Go for it. No, I don't know what it is. I thought it was Popeski. he's got it he's fucking got it 1-0 1-0 there we go when was the one where we played him on New Year's Day when it was 4-1 then was it the year after I don't think we've ever done that we have so Judas with that weird little scissor kick from outside the box shit I'm trying to my brain Armstrong got two headers Sheringham got one they had Schumacher go off half time with an weird French United had some weird French bold United yeah United had some weird French that was Arsenal on the ticket it was Arsenal fucking Apple yeah we beat fucking Apple I was so confused I got excited because I thought it was the same game that I first went to sorry Rick you're united on the brain you have yeah chess room right nice one boys alright nice one
