In short

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer transfer window, especially the signings of Sandro Tonali and Matias Fernandes, and the backlash from rival fans. The hosts argue Tottenham’s spending is enabled by new ownership cash and squad value management, and frame it as Spurs “moving up the food chain.”

Guest backgrounds

No named guests. The episode is a Q&A-style conversation between two Spurs-focused hosts (Ricky and “Flav”), plus listener questions.

Key claims

  • Tottenham can spend because they have “room to breathe” under spending rules and because the Lewis family injected cash; rivals like Newcastle/Villa can’t due to prior mismanagement and wage/overpayment.
  • Tonali and Fernandes are transformative midfield upgrades: press-resistant, elite ball-winning/covering ground, and better passing/carrying than current options.
  • Daniel Levy’s previous “brinkmanship” would likely have blocked deals like these; the new ownership is more aggressive and football-focused.
  • Vuskovic’s sale (to Brighton) unlocks further spending; the hosts debate whether selling a “generational” defender is a mistake.

Notable examples

  • Tonali’s AC Milan highlights; claim he was banned for 10 months and joined Newcastle after Milan knew he’d be unavailable.
  • Comparisons to Arsenal’s ambition (Rice, Gokeres) and to Spurs’ past “pants pulled down” transfers.
  • Discussion of Kuliszewski injury return timing and striker needs (Solanke vs other targets).

1:11Turn it up. Storm has zero sugar and 200 milligrams of caffeine. So you can turn that workout up a notch. Good energy in, good energy out. Energy for life. It's the fighting. It's the fighting. Cock! It's the fighting. It's the fighting. Cock! A camel turner! Hello, welcome back to the Fighting God Podcast. Yeah, hello, Ricky, boy. What's happening? So full disclosure, I'm super buzzy and super excited about the fact that everybody hates us. It's fucking mental the last couple of days for me on Twitter. You know, I'm kind of asking for it with some of the tweets, but fuck them. Do you know how long we've waited for this?

2:08What are we doing? Just spending loads of money. Do you know how long I've waited for this, Ricky? Yeah. and we knew we knew we had the potential to do it we've had the potential to do it for years don't believe you never would no never it's mental like spending 145 was it 145 million i heard someone say something like that yeah yeah 65 i don't care 165 million pound on two players in the same week levy would have never it's like literally feels like 48 hours that we've just it took a while to get there I mean we were all talking weren't we in the group about fuck you don't know where's this yeah you did promise to Nalali on Monday but it doesn't matter you didn't get the day right no I knew it was coming it's a big deal it's a complex deal and Newcastle needed to they've got the money and everyone knows they've got cash on the ip so they were going to get their pants pulled down so they needed to start the ball rolling with their players and then once that's done in you go is that from your what you've been told.

3:11It is, yeah. Yeah. My source is called The Frenchman. So I've got two... I've got two sources. One's called... One's called The Lawyers and the other one I just call The Source. Right, okay. Yeah. So, interesting. The time's ahead.

3:37The reason why I bring that up and say that I'm excited I might not sound excited so I've started taking I got approved for medical cannabis and I was like surely this is normal cannabis and but they just take all the fun stuff out of it and just use yeah treating bit of it that's what I thought yeah like it'd be like some kind of uh powdered tablet or something like that yeah that just has components of marijuana yeah yeah but but really it's not what you we're used to smoking or whatever you do with it no it's it is that it's exactly that oh shit from the government from from government approved grow houses it's weed it's just weed i've just bought weed instead of going to what was your dealer called uh we've got quite a few d-man d-man do you remember d-man d-man who else you got uh christian yeah yeah he's a good one yeah um uh i had i had one called um what the fuck was his name rems oh okay right yeah anyway look the point is it is that stuff and you need the thc in it to help with you know the pain you're in um but i feel so sleepy today and uh so i'm just pre-warning that if you hear yawning or if you hear if i don't sound excited i am really excited i'm i'm i'm got that really i'm sort of gloaty i'm sort of it's it's like you know when you laugh at someone's misfortune i'm laughing at how angry everyone is about Tottenham right now.

5:23Good. So you should. Yeah. I don't think it's a positive feeling. I don't think it's one I should harbour because it comes from the pit of your stomach where hatred lives sometimes. Yeah. So I'm not going to keep onto this forever, but right now I'm looking at all of them. I'm reading all the messages. Yeah. I'm getting sent all the hate and I'm laughing at them. Insane. How are they doing this? Yeah. Where have they got their money from? Yeah. and we have very easy and direct answers to that I can't believe capital on on on on on on how can they be allowed to spend it if you're too stupid to know and to understand this point we can't explain it to you it's just weird there's quite a few people like I don't know if they're journalists content creators whatever they are generally speaking as well like Newcastle and Villa and they are up in arms about it up in arms I tell you but what FFP what why aren't they doing anything yeah but is it maybe they don't know maybe they don't know that we we've operated at about 40 percent of our turnover to to wage spend when it was PSR rules I mean it was a bit more in the light in the last few years Is it just they don't know?

6:49Is that what it is? No, I think they feel that it's... I feel like they're like, Tottenham have finished 17th twice, nearly got relegated. How can they be still attracting this calibre of player? How can they have that money to spend on those players? Yes. Okay. But do they not know the rules that we're working under? They probably know. Maybe they do know the rules. Maybe they're just being ignorant and just ignoring it. The answer's really simple to both those questions. Yeah. It's because we, in terms of the spending rules, have so much room to breathe, given how frugal Daniel Levy was through the last two decades.

7:33Yeah. Has put us in a position, and without Daniel Levy being that way, we wouldn't be in this position, so you've got to be very clear about that, where we are able to spend more than almost everyone in the league right now if we have the cash. Before, we didn't have the cash. We operated, the club made money or it lost money, but whatever we spent pretty much was generated by Tottenham Hotspur. Now, because Enoch, the Lewis family, have injected cash, physical cash, into our bank account. Little Jackie. Yeah, little Jackie. Little Jackie. Is that why we're able to spend? And the other thing you've got to remember is that we're not spending 165 million pounds on Matos Fernandes and Tonali, through the duration of the contract we will have done.

8:22But right now, it's more like 40 million in cash that we have injected in. The problem with Villa and Newcastle is their owners could inject as much cash as they wanted. But because of the mismanagement and overpayment of players and the wages that they paid certain players, It's now that they can't. They have to reduce it. That's a shame, but it's not our fault. Yeah, it's a great shame. It's a shame for you. It's not our fault. I'll tell you what is our fault, you know, 20 years of revenue building. Why is it that we can finish 17th twice, Ricky, and attract these players? Because we're fucking massive.

9:07Yeah, we are. We're massive. Huge. And do you know how much they hate us, Ricky? You know that, don't you? They've hated us for years. They all hate us. Chelsea, West Ham, Arsenal, number one for a lot of them. I think we irritate most as a football club. I think arrogance has been thrown around a lot. I've been accused of being arrogant by a bloke called Neil.

9:29And they can't cope with the fact that, of course, Tonali wants to come to Tottenham rather than stay at Newcastle. Who wouldn't? Exactly who wouldn't? Because as it stands, there is a food chain and you'll blow us in it. Yeah. Doesn't matter if we're 16th or 5th. We'll be playing. We'll be playing. Champions League football. Champions League football. It doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. No. Food chain. Yeah. It's okay. Fine. Just accept it. It happens to us. But now, you know, the boot's on our foot. Yeah. Like we lost. Who did we lose? We lost. Berbatov, Modric. Yeah. Sharnham, Bale. yeah, we accepted it.

10:15We understood. We didn't complain. Now things are different. Yeah. Now we do what we want. Yeah. And you, and you don't, and you do what we want. Yeah. Things done changed. Fucking smelly cunts.

10:36What do you make of it then? I know, uh, Mattis Fernandez, you're, you watch the YouTube video. Yeah. Yep. I've been watching YouTube videos, lots of compilations, lots of compilations. I'm excited for both of them. Admittedly, more of the weight is on Tonali. Yeah. I know the way your brain works, Eric. That's the thing. Okay, go on. How does my brain work? I think your brain works Southampton, West Ham, Tottenham. No, it hasn't actually. Sometimes it does work like that, right? Yeah, it does. Yeah, I'm very primitive in route one football terms. You don't want lower league. You want foreign into Tottenham.

11:20Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. That's preference and foreign name as well. I think that is preference for everybody. Yeah, go on. With Tonali, I was watching his... Do you remember you told me to watch... I said, I've been watching his highlights and stuff like that. And you said, have you seen his AC Milan highlights? I was like, no. at about like 20 past 12 last night as my missus is asleep and I've turned down to the volume one. I'm watching the AC Milan highlights of Tonali and I'm just like, oh, for God's sake. It was insane. It's insane. I know the Premier League is more difficult and, you know.

11:51Yeah. He was unreal there. Yeah, it's going to get tasty. Yeah. And the reason why he went to Newcastle is because AC Milan knew he was going to be banned for 10 months. He went to Newcastle, didn't play for 10 months because of that ban. Yeah. so out of the two you're more excited about Tonali more excited about Tonali but again it's like I think for years we have known that our midfield is a problem centrally our midfield is a problem everyone's been crying out for ball players everyone's been saying press resistant players there's just been a mix and we have had a lot of mix and match, whether it's Benzincur, Saar, Pelinha, you know, whoever it might be.

12:43And to either one, they are kind of, they're press resistant, but they can't pass or they can pass, but they're not, you know, they can't do it. They don't have an array of skills to a very high level, to the level that we need to progress. and these two players do, one of these players I would have been happy with and have been transformative to our midfield. Fuck knows what two is going to do. Who do you think we are? Was you pessimistic that these deals would get done? Oh, completely. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, like you can only, for me from previous experience, under under levy it's you you know that it's that that kind of um the transfer of brinkmanship and who can outdo the other and it goes on and on and on and on and he wants to be top doggers chairman and get the right deal and all that lot and you know the simon jordan text message and all of that stuff so these types of deals that amount of money overpaying sure those deals don't get done under daniel levy i'm sure i'm sorry but they just don't we get nowhere near them and even van hecke that i don't think that deal would get would have got done because obviously you know the text the Simon Jordan text is just reference he said Spurs have had their pants pulled down exactly he's got one year on his contract and they've had their pants pulled down yeah so we wouldn't have signed him no or it would have been drawn out right until the end of August when the transfer window shuts and he would have had the World Cup that he's had you know price of the bricks gone up he just would have been out of reach so we have well someone else would have paid the money at another club of our size would have just paid the money because they needed him.

14:47But Daniel Levy's saying, we've got our pants pulled down. I talked about this with Dan Colpatrick on the latest episode of the Lab, actually. And Dan made a really good point, was that Daniel Levy thought that the way to operate good operational skill and merit when negotiating a deal is getting the best possible value from it, which in general business is correct. and even in football can be correct as well in the right circumstances. But so he probably wouldn't have pursued this and we probably wouldn't have had a player that we need, certainly our manager needs, in order to play a particular system he wants to play.

15:30Also, in having our pants pulled down, we've placated a manager who we have guaranteed certain things to before he joined the football club. He didn't want to join a team threatened by relegation and committed his future to that. He'd love to have waited to the summer, no doubt. But we, we, in large part to how Daniel Levy left us, had no, we had no choice but to give him what he wants. And so, all right, he's given that, he's joined us, been paid handsomely. But for then him, for him to go, I need Van Hecker in order for this to work. Oh yeah, yeah, I know. But we've got Romero, right? And he might stay and we've got, Vuscovic coming through and we've got Danso, so probably not going to do that.

16:19So the problem is, and those are fine arguments as well, right? That's definitely a conversation. Yes, we do have Vuscovic, or did. We do have Danso and we do have Romero. But he's gone in and go, I don't need those guys. I need this guy to make my system work. You have to give it to him. um and and you know this is why a massive part of why i think vuskiewicz has ended up being sold the thing is is what i need them in now now yeah not not tomorrow not in the transfer window not in january not until contracts run out and another year is gone and they'll be cheaper and all that lot if you want me to do what i was brought in to do i need them now and it just wouldn't have happened well no it wouldn't have happened but where we are now is we've got an ownership that's aggressive that's a football football focused like you cannot there is no denying and and if the season doesn't go well you know i'm all 99 99 sure that we can have a much better season than we did last year right but if it doesn't go well people will still blame them but right now what the Lewis family have done in this transfer window is incredible to me.

17:36I just never thought I would see the like at Tottenham. It's really exciting. Yeah. Like Dan made this point about you could understand the Sanessi-Robertson deals. Those could have been done under Daniel Levy. Big value there. You know, big wages. We've done it previously, Perisic. And I'm borrowing a lot of what Dan said on the lab. But the Tonali and Fernandes deals is...

18:02Ricky, we've had this from these ITKs, these Man City ITKs, that Tonali turned down Manchester City because he wanted to play for De Zerbi. It wasn't Spurs. It wasn't the money. It was De Zerbi. It wasn't London. It wasn't London. It was De Zerbi. Yeah. The thing is as well, when you see a lot of interviews, Pep Guardiola, there's been a couple. they've all referenced Deserby and how innovative his football is, how transformational he is, how great a manager he is. And to have someone in like him, fully back him, and I believe now not to kind of downplay Marseille, Brighton, whoever, but this is this is probably going to be one of the biggest platforms that he's going to get to have his brand of football spoken about and him as a manager to put his stake in the ground to say I'm one of the young guys and I'm fucking I'm here to stay I'm here to fuck things up and by backing him in that way I mean it sends out a message than it yeah we're like and the the talk about sorry i just wanted to go on like the there's a lot of talk about us having our pants pulled down for both players and overpaying and we we needed to do that to get those deals done and there's a lot of people saying are they you know 80 90 million pound players probably not probably not is anderson 130 million pound player no Was Declan Rice 105?

19:53No. Not at the time. No. But you pay for what you believe the value is going to be to your club. This isn't exactly Ricky, right? You bring the players in to make the impact. What problems do we have in our squad? What do we need to try and the type of football that we need to play next season? Who are the targets that are going to help us get this and then go and get them done before? Where are we? 2nd of July. 2nd of July. Go and get all your business done. And by all accounts, we're not done. No. Not by a long shot. Which again, while the sale of Vuscovic isn't as surprising as it might look, the cash that comes with that, it's 100 % profit pretty much, enables further big deals.

20:43Big deals. If you want to know more about that, go and listen to the episode of The Lab I did with Ben White. You can find it on the Finecock stream or the Lab stream. We go into detail about exactly what the selling of Vuscovic and if it was Beraval as well, does for our ability to spend in this window. So you can't just keep everything you want. You've got to lose some of it. You know, none of us are happy that Vuscovic is gone. I'd rather have him stayed, but if he doesn't want to be here, if he doesn't want to fight for his place, and he's not going to get in ahead of Van Hecker or Romero.

21:23I mean, alone. I know you're going to say that, Rick. Loan him and then bring him back again. But it's clear he didn't want to be here. Are all batteries the same? That's like asking if all soccer players are the same. Take Messi, the most decorated player ever. Is there any other player who has achieved that? No, just him. Now take Duracell.

23:13Is there any other battery with power boost ingredients inside? No, just Duracell. Remember, goats only trust goats because they're built different. And Messi only trusts Duracell.

23:28I mean, it's... From his point of view, yeah, you want to play. You've just been playing and starting Hamburg. I think he got in like a team of the year in the Bundesliga or at least made the bench or some shit like that. He's at the World Cup, started for Croatia. His trajectory is, you know, it's only going to go, it's only going upwards. He, you know, the biggest clubs were courted of trying to sign him. There were talks, right? Where are they though, Rick? Yeah, but there may have been a kind of deal with Brotten that we've got Van Ecke that, you know, we can get this through quickly for you.

24:13You do this, we do that. I don't know. Possibly. But he's got to be happy to go there. Yeah, yeah, of course. If Bayern Munich were genuinely in for him, he's had to make a choice between Bayern Munich and Brighton. Yeah. And he's chose Brighton. I mean, he wants to be in the first team. He wants to be playing. he wants to get his career up and running he doesn't want to be you know part that well i mean obviously he's going to be part of the squad but he doesn't want to be a bit part he doesn't want to be sitting on the bench he wants to be um playing every single week and that's fine that that's that's fine but it does say to me like i mean if frank thomas frank said he wasn't ready and De Zerbe says he's not ready.

25:03De Zerbe seems not to be concerned by him at all really. I mean, I don't know, how do we know? But, you know, but the reports came out that Lucas Beraval was going to go. Spurs were relatively quick to say he's not for sale through using, whereas Vyskovic, that was never the case. Like maybe De Zerbe doesn't care about five years time when Vyskovic is going to be in his prime and just cares about the next two seasons and that's all he's got to do. Yeah. I mean, what makes us anxious is that he could be a generational centre-back and we're giving him the opportunity up for him to play for Spurs.

25:45Or he will be a decent Premier League centre-back, level centre-back, which is in itself a very difficult thing to be. The thing is, you look at Brighton's track record when they signed young players, young talent, and what happens to them after. he has to have something no without question he's definitely got it yeah go on sorry sorry go on no i just i don't i'm not as bothered about it as other people might be like my brother's devastated all of them they think this is a big mistake yeah i got a message from some guys out in america and if they hadn't they said to me if we would have been all sort of like, you know, devastated by Vucevic going if they hadn't listened to the podcast where he explained what the spending power of this unlocks.

26:31But you just don't want to have quality in your grasp and let it go, I guess. No, not at all. Yeah, and like I said, a lot of the clubs, we were having conversations that he hasn't even played for Spurs and we didn't even know when he comes back if he's going to sign a contract with us. and there's talk that he's already done with Bayern and whoever else that wanted him. And obviously, yeah, he's gone to Brighton, but he's going to be playing in the Premier League. And did Brighton qualify for Europe as well? I can't remember. I think there's Conference League, I think, Brighton. Right, okay. So yeah, it seems like the next step in his development to be playing Europe, to be playing in the Premier League under a great manager at Brighton.

27:17And they play good football. Yeah, I don't know. I just feel like it could be a misstep from us. But if you're talking about by selling him and getting that money and it unlocks further players for us, then we have to think about the now, really. And he could turn out to be absolutely dog shit in the Premier League. It might not be his league, right? How many players have we seen excel in the Bundesliga come back to the Premier League and you know it's it's hard work so so who knows you got to take that punt but it does feel like every single I don't know everyone in the football world we're talking Vuscovic up to say this guy is going to be the next generational defender and to have him in our grasp and to not even have a first team appearance for us and for us to sell him i just i don't know it just feels a bit mental but again if if by selling him then unlocks the door for servinho to come in to whoever to come in creepy yeah okay i mean like that's that's silly we're getting silly now i know but i've heard that that's it's genuine the interest to bring him in and the fee would be around you i mean 90 million has been touted it can't be that yeah he's no he's had a great last season but 90 million feels like a fucking lot i know it's not my my money and who cares and stuff but yeah i i mean um exactly what you just said he had a great last season and when you when you kind of prove that you can do it in the premier league obviously that the money goes up.

29:11But 90 million, that's fucking, that's a lot. And I know about overpaying and having our pants pulled down. That seems excessive for a pants pulled down. What are you saying? You wouldn't want to spend that? You'd rather go elsewhere? I don't think I would. 90 million for him. I don't know. He's a great player. Really good player. Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain also won him. But I don't know, man. I'm all up for having my pants pulled down, but I don't know if that is, it just feels a bit too much. You know what I mean? Yeah. No, no, yeah, it does, it does. But we do need a striker and how much is, you know, how much is a decent striker going to cost?

29:59It's going to be around that, isn't it? Yeah, I mean, it's not really a striker. I don't think he leads the line number nine is he yeah what do you think he is I thought he's more of like a more of a 10 Z I'm sure he can drop yeah okay drop into the 10 if he likes because I thought what's his face who's that Brazilian ugly man Evan Nilsson yeah yeah I thought he was there main guy and he operated around him in the spaces isn't it popping up scoring goals doing what he wants yeah there was a lot of there was a lot of popping around for Bournemouth under Irrela for sure no but he was definitely their number 9 right okay even Austin was good as well but I don't think he got injured and then took a while to come back I can't remember but yeah Kruppi was their number 1 so we'll see they just know how to sign players Bournemouth fucking players they got in that Ryan who plays for Brazil in the World Cup yeah I thought it was supposed to be difficult going to the Premier League he'd come there and he's like this is fucking piss easy.

31:05Five goals in 15 games. Like your first 15, five goals. Was he like 12 years old from Brazil? Fucking mental. Absolutely mental. It is the Q &A podcast, Rick. Yes. So just before, this is from James Ducker of The Telegraph. Those United fans criticising Spurs for signing Tonali and Fernandes, two players that they would have been creaming themselves over if they'd signed for their club. I totally understand United's position on both by deriding Spurs for their ambition. It's insane. Sorry, I totally understand United's position on both, but deriding Spurs for their ambition is insane. And no, it's not Woodward era United.

31:50Tonali and Fernandes are not Schneidlin and a past-it perennial cropped. Schweinsteiger, I absolutely despise social media transfer wars. Catapult me back to the 90s and yes, I'm in a bad mood. Oh. Who do you think you are? Yeah, I mean, that's what we've been getting. Who do you think you are doing it? People don't like this. They like the old Tottenham, the Daniel Levy Tottenham. So that's a tweet. People are like, oh, you're going crazy. You're going crazy because you overpaid for two players. You've overpaid for the players. We've never done this before. This is completely new for us. I mean, overplaying for players, yeah, that's not new.

32:27Spent 47 million on Brennan Johnson, for fuck's sake. But this is different. This is different. These are players that everybody wanted. Real Madrid, Fernandes turned down Real Madrid, according to the Madrid Zone on Twitter. Facts. Turned down Man United. Turned down Real Madrid to come to little old Tottenham. Tonali was in talks with Manchester City. Do you know what? No. Spurs. Spurs are there. Yeah. The Gooners had their eye on him as well. Because they did. Yeah. Because they did. No. Tottenham come knocking, you answer. Yeah, that's it. That's where it is. So everyone's going to need to learn this is the new Tottenham.

33:08What they think, what they understand Tottenham to be was Daniel Levy's Tottenham. That's where people are comfortable with us being. That's what they want. Yeah. We couldn't cause a problem, but we never really do. Oh, no, no, no, no, Spurs are good, Spurs are good, Spurs are good. That energy. No, no, no, no, no, I like the way you play, attractive football. Good. They're not worried about it, though. Yeah. Now they're worried. They are. They're worried. They're worried. They're throwing everything at you, aren't they? Any kind of little, oh, relegated West Ham, relegated Southampton, you've just bought in for 85 million.

33:47What's it like? Overpaying, getting your pants pulled down for both of them. Our pants. There are pants. And so many good things happen when your pants get pulled down. Yeah. It's the best. If we sign these, sorry, go on. Ricky, your favourite. Yeah. The best things in your life happen when your pants come down. Exactly. You've got your pants pulled down. Good. Yeah. Good. Good. Good. Now I might get something else now. Yeah. Probably get a blowie. I'll give you a blowie. Yeah, good. Yeah, exactly. Pants down, everybody. If we sign two players like that from having our pants pulled down, my pants pulled down, fine.

34:27That's good. I enjoy it. I'm going to go to Tottenham, right? first game of the season flat cap on Lacoste long sleeve polo yeah Converse on yeah socks yeah no jeans no boxer shorts naked from my ankles up to my waist had my pants pulled down yeah yeah I've had pants pulled down leave them off leave them off yeah need them don't need them don't need them don't need them we used to need them we're getting all the players now and we may have had pants pulled down but we have a quality squad. Yeah, so. I think we should go Spurs against Hoffenheim. Everyone should start pulling everyone's pants down.

35:06Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, hey, hey. Keep going. Look, we've got Van Hecker. I don't know if we've got our pants pulled down. I don't mind. Everyone pulling his pants down. Oh, good. Brilliant. All right, suggestions. Used concrete, concentrate. I've recently been formally diagnosed after many years of underperformance at work and at school to have an IQ way below that of an average person. As a result, my wife will, my life will always be on hard mode. My question is for Flav, as someone who is mentally disabled.

35:46Motherfucker. Somebody, somebody who is mentally disabled.

35:55Oh, fucking hell, that's a good one. That was very good. my question for Flav is as someone who is also mentally disabled how do you deal with the difficulties of day to day life and what advice do you have going on moving forward thank you 36 upvotes

36:14Sharon followed up said I'd like to know this also being a fellow below average I often wonder how I make it through each day

36:27just keep working hard you concentrate like it's tough for us yeah yeah but that's why if you we've got to work twice as hard to rise above yeah um so sorry apologies for your diagnosis but at least you know now motherfucker uh gary spurs is how will you even have time to answer questions i know there's a lot going on spurs in there uh wonderful underscore board says kulisevsky got to 12 inches. How many inches did the Tenale and Fernandez bombshells give you? What's the Kulicevsky news? Don't know. What, is he back? Is he? Was it just a signing of him? Well, that was ages ago. Yeah, I know. Is he back?

37:13He ain't back. There's no way he's back. Do you not think he'll be back? No. I saw some training videos of him jogging around the pitch and he just didn't look. what about didn't he do didn't he do a bit of basketball the other day yeah I know but he's using his arms yeah I know but there's a lot of bending and twisting well I don't know that's have you written him off yeah yeah yeah he's gone he's gone I've kind of just forgotten he exists yeah um Tottenham have been not confirmed the target date from the club independent injury trackers are estimating return around late July which would put him in contention for pre-season matches rather than being guaranteed for the opening Premier League fixture.

38:01But we've been saying this, we've heard this for ages, haven't we? Yeah. It was supposed to be a week, then it was two weeks, then it was a month, then it was we don't have a return date. I don't know. I've just, yeah, I've completely just, it's sad, it's incredibly sad, but where my mind's at the moment, I'm not counting on him or I'm not kind of like, oh, when Kulisewski comes back and our right's going to be... For him to come back and to come back to what he was is going to be incredibly difficult with the injury he's had. Yeah. Although,

38:45R9 had a patellar injury similar to this and he came back. was he's good though I think he had two cruciate ligaments and a and a patellar in his career that's fucking I don't know I can't remember exactly what happened after he came back from an injury but I mean probably not as good but I mean just having kudos back as well it's going to be so good we've got a question here about the striker though I know we've been linked with Kruppi and others right but someone asked here who is it Beer Corpse says do we actually need to spend on a striker or can we put faith in Solanke and the support he's going to get now made a biscuit since he come to Spurs hasn't he yeah yeah there is that I mean like have we well I'd like to get an update from the medical team and to understand what's been happening.

39:49What are we doing to ensure we don't have a season like the last two seasons of our injuries? Why did that happen? What have we put in place? All of that stuff. That'd be good to get from the club. But Solanke, do you know what? I am looking forward to... Okay, so he's had an extended break now. He's back from injury. So once he gets up to his level of fitness and sharpness and all of that, I think I mentioned it on a previous podcast, when he was at Bournemouth and when he was in and out of the box that he was able to put the ball away and be more effective in contributing goals. with Tottenham he dropped back a lot and even when he dropped back a lot to link up play he often had defenders right up his arse but engaging the defenders which is great creating space behind I want to see what he does when he's in the box I haven't really seen him have a sustained amount of time just in and around the box it's just class wasn't it the ball came across and he just walloped it in yeah yeah yeah exactly he's actually a good finisher yes just can't say fit I think it's the fitness thing it really is I don't think we can rely on Tell to lead the line so no way no I think we're going to go big for a striker do you think do you think Richie goes and then we we get someone else well we've got in terms of Deadwood we've got a question here from Better Call Tom says how easily do you think we'll shift our Deadwood or is it going to have to have to bin some off into a bomb squad like Mureska did at Blueco

41:38what players do you think should be up for sale at Tottenham League available for sale I would probably start with it feels mean right but I just want to say it feels mean saying oh this player is up for sale and they're not wanted and don't like them whatever right they've been a great servant to the club so I just want to say that but Vicario I think it's his time I think this is time for a new destination for him. Yep. Okay. Dragerson. Yep, fine. I think he can go. Yep. I think probably Soza could do with alone. Okay. Right. Doggy Robertson, Soza, yep. Yep.

42:27I don't know where, what, like, it feels mean because he's such a lovely boy. Sar I think he needs to I think he needs to find we're bloated in midfield yeah so if we're bloated in midfield there has to be some sales they're reportedly not interested in selling Beraval so Sar Gallagher I'm not saying Gallagher to sell but it's too too many players that are not going to get game time imagine we did sell Gallagher I think he's going to play Gallagher I don't think we're going to get number 10. I think he's going to use Madison and Gallagher as our 10s. Oh, God. He likes it. I know. He likes it. I know, but it doesn't really matter what you like.

43:15It's what the serve he likes. Yeah, sure. That's understandable. Yeah. I think if Potch would have come in, Gallagher would be our 10 as well. Yeah. Yeah. Sorry. I think maybe there's a problem here. And I think I know where the issue lays. Where do you reckon? Me. and my football tactical knowledge. I think the general consensus in the Spurs fan base would be with you, Rick. That's the thing. I think they'd be right. But we can't, like, these are expensive positions to fill. We've got, eventually, Xavi Simons will come back. You've got Maddison, you know, with the bit between his teeth.

43:53Romero? Shit, yeah. He's got to go. He's got to go now. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't, yeah, I think he does. It's the comments from Deserbi, I think, about him staying and not being here and Ben Davies showing an example of wanting to be here. Yeah. I think that, that kind of energy isn't what Deserbi will tolerate. No, exactly. Um, and I think as well, he's fucking injured as well. Yeah. He's very much country over club all the time. And I think people will just, very outspoken against the board and stuff like that and things that he said. So I think maybe from the club there might be a bit of pressure to say that bad apple let's get rid when Ange was was it the overlap when he said people are players are scared of Romero there was leaks in the paper as well that Romero kind of has the rule of the roost there does what he wants there's issues with like lateness and this and that and the other so I think it's time that he does go somewhere else and the amount that we conceded last season the amount that we lost and I'm not blaming it all on him but the defence was a mess last season and I think with a new partnership the Dutch Masters I'd like to see that flourish if I'm honest Ricky I don't think van der Ven is going to start the first game you are fucking what are you talking about?

45:30I think Sanessi's going to start. What? Yeah, with Van Hecker. That's crazy. Just because what they do with the ball. They're progressive passers. Sanessi's incredibly proficient at finding his man from distance. 10 successful through balls last season to Tottenham Hartsford. The entire club of Tottenham Hartsford doing eight. Eight, yeah. and Van Hecker obviously slots straight in as well I genuinely think at the start of the season it will be Sanessi and Van Hecker as our number one and two Dezerbi's just going to be screaming from the touchline stop doing free balls stop we're doing too many too many I like a couple but not we've gone from none to 80 per game fucking mental stop doing free balls could you imagine Kruppi off the shoulder though as those frubles come around raining free oh god good lord good lord we're doing the league I think there needs to for me there needs to be a bit of a partnership kind of like as in yeah that will be the partnership but not everyone kind of doing frubles everyone stop doing frubles balls balls balls balls for Van de Ven to have his speed his height I don't know it just looked to compliment the someone that is pushing forward a bit more that is a bit more brave that is looking for those passes and van der Ven is the one that drops slightly deeper or if they are playing a high line that he's the one that is going to be pegging it back he's the one that's always mindful that he has to get back and van Hec is one that he's always got that attacking forward in his mind.

47:24Yeah, agreed. So Romero will probably be sold, Richarlison. The Vucevic looks like it's done. We could easily raise£200 million, maybe. £150 million? Yeah. So I don't think we'll have a problem selling any of those players. I think they're still good players, right? They're still players that this is, while Langer has not built a squad worth it's you know in terms of the balance of it he hasn't done a good job in doing that but he has everyone he's brought in more or less has increased in value since we got them like but he got Vuzkovic did he actually not sure if he was around hey Lange I don't think he I think that happened before Lange turned up it was like two and a half years ago wasn't it when he he was 16.

48:16I might be wrong. Yeah. You know, Beraveau has value. Vuscovic does have value. Archie Gray's worth more than when we bought him. Yeah. Sell them all. Sell them all. Just get rid of them. I'm fine with this. I don't like, I'm not like, I understand the frustration about Vuscovic, but I'm just like, I've said this a couple of times now. If you're not good enough to play, then why are you holding on to these players? Because the only time they become good enough to play is if we get worse. place i don't know sure i see that yeah see that yeah okay um heat up your fourth of july at the home depot with our wide variety of grills under 300 and make every gathering one to remember give your outdoor space a glow up whatever your budget is the savings on seasonal plants starting at five dollars with the grill fired up and your backyard set to perfection you'll be able to invite friends, and family over to kick off the party.

50:20toxic smoking a monkey says what's better the signings themselves or the rival salty tears as we spend all the money both of them both things I've had some fucking pelters on Twitter but I am scared to even open it there's so much abuse coming through just so much you are a bit spicy on Twitter but I like it can't help myself Yeah, I like it though. Well, I'm like, now it's our turn for a little bit. Like, they don't want us to be this cocky and that we haven't earned it. Or I don't know, there's something along those lines. But I remember thinking when Arsenal signed Gokeres and Declan Rice, I was thinking to myself, we're never going to be that club.

51:06I'm not saying I want to be Arsenal. I just want to be a club that is ambitious in that way. I genuinely thought we'd never do that. like we were linked with Gokhara no one ever believed that that would be the case we might be linked to Tonali no one ever believed it would actually get him I think there's a quote from Ange now we are saying that Tottenham are never going to spend a hundred million on a player they're just not under Don Levy yeah and that was only a short while ago that was the kind of the ethos within the club why not why not why can't we we generate huge amounts of money We've had to sacrifice elements of our football club as a fan base.

51:45We've had to bring in F1 and bring in the NFL. You're diluting what the football club is. We've moved from our beloved stadium into a fantastic stadium. Don't get me wrong, but it's a shift. For what? For us not to compete? It's mental that the Lewis family have come in and gone and not known what was going on. I've been unhappy for a long time. They've gone in and gone, we're never going to be successful. A successful football club with Daniel Levy at the helm. It's too conservative. We'll have our pants pulled down. Yeah. He found, he thought he's, he's, he's, it's about the art of doing the deal.

52:31I think that's a Thomas, I think that's a Donald Trump book, actually, the art of the deal. who thought how to engineer a transfer deal in the best is the best thing for Tottenham to get the most out of every deal and as we said at the top of the show the best thing for us as fans is to get players in that improve us we don't care if you're saving X amount of money and they've come in and gone get Daniel Levy out of the way we're going to do something different here and everyone thought no they've come in because Daniel Levy was blocking the sales I thought that blocking the sale of the football club they've come in and gone we're not for sale we'll suppose Enoch will not be selling Tottenham Hotspur and everyone's like yeah but you're saying that like Matt Slater who's the you know one of the top journalists at The Athletic I had in the lab it's like yeah everyone heard what they were saying but no one believed them of course you're going to say that but you are for sale because this is how these things work and they said we're not just you wait you'll see what what happens he also said about him about you know improving the value of the club of doing those extra revenue bits and pieces but then also you you've got the other kind of side of if you want to improve that then you can do it by your team winning trophies and winning the league and stuff like that and we we've not we've not considered that and now it feels like there's been a shift as in let's stop focusing on all the other stuff around the football club and concentrate on being a football club winning games winning trophies getting the best players in getting the best manager in getting the kind of the things that you know the foundations right on how we can excel and start doing what other clubs are doing so bring it on Real Madrid wanted him United wanted him City wanted these players and out of the world we would have never have got them over the line like I didn't believe Tanali was in time but when I first heard it it's like one of them stories isn't it when I first heard it I was like that's yeah I mean we're linked with him but we're never going to get him he's too good he's not going to come to Tottenham lo and behold here we are like Fernandes I know you're sort of under not underwhelmed but you just don't know much about him Ricky's mustard man he's exactly what we don't have in midfield.

55:00He's an elite ball winner. He is, I'm not talking like a specialist, like Paulina perhaps, but he covers the ground so quickly. He's fast. His passing is impeccable. He can carry it through players. He's like, he can do everything. There's no, and he's 21. There's no part of his, like he left, do you know who let him go from Sporting Lisbon? It was Amirim. And there was shock that he was allowed to go to Southampton. Like, there was, like, complete shock that this player was being allowed to leave sporting and join the Premier League at what, he was in 19 at the time. Southampton went down but he was their best player by a country mile.

55:44West Ham go down but he was their best player by a country mile. He spent£85 million on a relegated player but that's our problem, bro. Why are you so well just hated? You focus on you. Focus on you. Yeah. Yeah. He'd been relegated twice a day. Yeah, don't worry about it. Well, you think that hurts me? What you're saying? Yeah. Nothing can hurt me right now. Nothing can hurt me. The food chain thing as well, man. I don't know if I should keep doing it. It drives people up the wall. It's like I put food chain because Matias Fernandez turned down Madrid. Now, I acknowledge that perhaps in this food chain that Real Madrid might be above, given the fact that, you know, they signed Modric and Bale for us and they are the biggest club in the world, right?

56:31Yeah. I did it to them. I didn't have Real Madrid fans going, but the Man United fans, because I'd food chained Goldbridge, because he said, what did he say? It'd be like a puppy taking a bone from a lion. Yeah. All right, who's roaring now, motherfucker? Yeah. Yeah, so I did a little food chain on him. and yeah, loads of Man Utd fans could show me pictures of their trophy cabinets. I was like, it's fine. Show me pictures, I don't know. All I know is that you wanted Fernandes and he's at Tottenham. That's all I know. They are fucking livid that two players that they wanted or at least one definitely wanted that have chosen to come to Tottenham over them and I think they're more angry at themselves and their club that their club had a evaluation and they wouldn't go over it or they had a wage structure and they wouldn't go over it.

57:28Yeah. And we're like, see what they've done. Stick another 10 on top. Whatever they come back with, we're going to go 10 on top. Another 10. Yeah, another 10. Keep going. Another 10. 10. 10 more. Yeah. Yeah. We'll just keep going, adding 10s until you're a spouse. Yeah. Don't worry about it.

57:51It's so funny. like honestly people don't know what to do with themselves they don't they don't know what's happening they hate it there's more to come as well there's more to come there'll be more more of it we're gonna break our transfer record for a third time in one window I think oh I hope so I hope so more players more players is that player good you've got yeah we'll have him we'll take him thank you is that Kudus he looks good yeah we'll take him thanks cheers is feeder club the uh the two things of food chain and you should have relegated us should relegate this when you had the chance it drives people fucking mad and our mate is so funny they should have you had an opportunity yeah that actually that was the one that got the most heat yesterday but ricky i can't stop myself like um i'll get like i'm getting abused i'm getting all kinds of things you're like a baby club trying to be scary stop it's cringe Aston Villa this one was a good one the Premier League is on notice Newcastle Villa learn from this for your own good did you do that?

59:12yeah learn from this children for your own good they went mad I can see why. What is apparent to me over the last 10 years or so is that people are comfortable with Tottenham are a plucky outfit that might be a problem without actually being one. We've shifted and people hate it, but they have to get used to it. We are not Dan Levy's spurs anymore. You've just got to get used to it. Sorry. I know this is not what you want. This is life now. Why didn't you relocate? This is a good one. I quote to you, here we go from Fabrizio. Why didn't you relocate us? You had a chance. Now look what you've done, silly.

59:59So silly. What I don't get is why people can't see that you're obviously just on a windup. They don't know me. They don't know who I am. No, I know. But surely, you know, if you were seeing like someone, I don't know, I feel like I would be able to read between the lines of what they were saying, no matter what club they support. I don't think you can win by replying either. Unfortunately, on Twitter, they've changed. You can't mute posts anymore, which is a problem. Oh, no. That's what I used to do, anyway. Anyway, more questions. Miguel Leoso says, Flav, on a previous podcast, you said you were going to wrestle Alex at the end of the season, barbecue who won.

1:00:43We didn't wrestle, did we? If you haven't done it yet, can we see a video of your tombstone in Alex for a garden table? Oh, Jesus. I couldn't pick that fat little idiot up.

1:00:55Secondly, if Ricky is there, how many trips to the Travelodge have you made this week to get deals over the line? Rick, you don't have to do that anymore. No, no. They don't need to be, the reward is the player. Rick, you're no longer, I think those times have passed now, Rick. Yeah, it's good. I mean, you know, I laid the foundation, which is good. You did. I did my bit. You did? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. We can all be grateful to you. Thank you.

1:01:28Thank you. Have a Reddit account. Are we actually fucking massive? We were always massive. You know that we're massive because regardless of the state the club's in, we just exist in people's minds. What was it that United fans used to say? Hated, rated, but never ignored. Yeah. Oh, that's good. I might just take that. I might put that up actually. That's good. Tweet that. Tweet it. You know. No, it's not.

1:02:00Hated, rated, but never ignored. I can't. It's United. I can't do that. Maybe wind them up as well, won't it? Oh, no. That's ours. Active Republic says can you sell merchandise we have done this is ball league so we don't typically yeah like a t-shirt if you should have relegated us emblazoned on it I'm sure there are fellow Redditors that can design it and based on the number of listeners you have you should be able to sell it worldwide to all Spurs fans we will then wear the t-shirt with the what's I Y K I know you know I think it's I know you know smug face all around town the season and someone has made a such a class someone's designed something for us oh ream it's really good is it yeah let me um screen grab it just so you can see it right now it's it's a it's a i'd even wear that wow all right cool well we might do that actually I'll get the I'll just send you on WhatsApp yeah we can I don't know we'll do I don't know give the bloke some money I guess yeah come up with some idea this is this is class watch this where is it I'll send it to the group right okay good

1:03:31and for everybody who's listened to this and might want to look at it, go to the amazing people at Arquoise and you can have a look at it there. But that is class, that. Yeah, that is, yeah, yeah, yeah. That is quality, actually. That is very good. Very good. Can you do me a favor? It's hot, hot ask 3031. Sorry, 33, 33112. Can you message me on Twitter? Because obviously we'd need a high res version of that. vector or something. And we'll discuss what we should do going forward. I love that. It's cool. Yeah, it is. Quality. I'd wear that. Fernandez or Tonali, who would you choose to bang Flav's stepmom if it means you win the league?

1:04:20Cheers, Vivian. Oh, blimey. It would never happen. Like, that would suggest that Fernandez or Tonali would get anything from... my pastemone's 75 years old like she's she's 25 years off 100 I was going to say Tonali if I'm honest right yeah Tonali I think it'd be better Fernandes looks about 48 in his face yeah I wanted to say it but I didn't know if it was like I don't know I think you can't say that about African players but you can say it you can say it about Portuguese right okay good yeah yeah he does look really old doesn't he yeah he does look well old like he's seen some stuff do you know how to pronounce his surname I might do this because wind everyone up you know I still maintain it is Berryvale and if you listen to the Swedish commentary they're saying Berryvale as well yeah did you hear that no I didn't why would I be listening to Swedish commentary no sorry the Sweden game when they were commentating on the Sweden game oh is that what they were saying because it's his name because it's his name right okay his name is not Bergvall yeah well I'm going to call him Bergvall yeah do you remember he called it Bervine Begwin I'm going to deny all knowledge of that Don't you dare If that happened find the episode for me So long ago Here we go No evidence You remember the studio we were in when you said it Just chucking stuff out there Lies It was that place you used to record in Bermondsey And you went Begwin And I looked like that ain't a player Brilliant I think we called the episode Begwin I think you can't find it it doesn't exist don't be don't be ashamed about it mate I'm not ashamed I've heard some of the names you come out with son yeah yeah after finishing 17 barely surviving the Thomas Frank clown parade and then do you know what I was thinking Ricky no matter how bad things are how quickly things can shift in football yeah it just makes means it takes the right decision and a cohesion and the plan.

1:06:30I didn't think we'd be possible. I thought when De Zerbi came in, I was like, okay, now there's someone in the house who can, is football first and can make the right decisions. Yeah. And by getting him in, you've given up perhaps how you want the club to be structured because in a typical modern football structure, the manager doesn't have as much of a role as De Zerbi does at Spurs. You would have, obviously, you have a director of football. he would be the person setting the scene at the club whereas now it's Deserby that's setting the scene which I'm fine with I'm comfortable with that problem is obviously as we know there's a big there's a little Deserby shaped hole if should he leave that another manager will have to fill or a chairman sorry or a director of football would have to fill but maybe stays here for 10 10 that'd be lovely but surely with the calibre of players that we're that we're buying whoever comes in should be able to, you know, get them to be playing in a fashion that would be acceptable.

1:07:35Yeah. True, true, true. Well, sorry, I'll finish this question and then immediately pivoting to maxing out... Sorry. We barely survived the Thomas Frank clown parade and then immediately pivoting to maxing out Enix corporate platinum credit card. It is inevitable we challenge for big things this season. or is it just another glitch in the Tottenham matrix? There's absolutely no guarantee that anything changes. But right now I feel, I feel really excited. I feel really excited. I can't see, I think just having De Zerbi in there guarantees a top five finish with last season, sorry, top 10 finish with last season squad.

1:08:21For the fact they're backing him, what have we got to be? We've got to be in the top 25 % in the league to finish fifth or above. Lots of teams in transition, Ricky. Yeah, there are. What is your hopes for Tottenham this season? Where do you think we will finish in the league? Before I finished that, I was chatting to my Gooner mate and he was saying, oh, these new players and da-da-da-da-da. is like you've got to be like looking at 10, 8. Those kind of like, you've got to be, you know, that's where you've got to be aiming. Then he said next season, then aiming for Champions League. And I was like.

1:09:02That's what happened to them. Hold on a second. I was like, I didn't want to, I couldn't be asked to have a conversation about it. It didn't work. Was he not trying to get a bite out of you? Well, I don't know. But it's like, you know, I don't want to get drawn into a back and forth when that's fucking mental. You wanted to. but you didn't. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You wouldn't need to know without the coming back. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. But I just don't like, I don't see how the players that we've bought and the Zerbe full season and full preseason and we're not even finished spending yet, how 10th and 8th is going to be where we think we're going to end up.

1:09:48what do you think I would say and this is conservative top six

1:09:59I think there's a lot of there's going to be a lot of flux and I think a lot of the teams that we feel like top are going to win the league top right okay good that's good yeah that's fine Rick say it top league champions just say just say top top T O P top does that sound good? yeah you want to get your backyard summer ready but you don't want to break the bank? Wayfair gets it planning on dining alfresco or relaxing poolside? Wayfair has everything you need to prep your space shop now and save up to 70 % off during Wayfair's 4th of July clearance Score huge deals on outdoor furniture, area rugs, and more.

1:11:06No more to it. No. Yeah, top. Top. Fair enough. Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's go with that. What are you saying? Top six? I'm saying top. Right, yeah. I'd say top six. And that's where I'm just being a little bit... Conservative. Yeah. The problem is that if Spurs don't win the league, it doesn't bother me too much. But if you're being conservative about top six and we finish like eighth, we just don't want to finish in that fucking conference league. That would kill us. No. Do you know why you don't have to? You don't want to? More so than ever. is because you then have to be compliant to UEFA spending rules.

1:11:46Yeah. Which would mean we'd have to drop to 70 % for a competition that costs us money to be in. We don't want that. No, we don't want that.

1:12:00Favorite pasta sauce?

1:12:09I don't know. I mean, it's got to be a ragu, isn't it? yeah standard it's like anything great can be made from a ragu yeah there are I've had I don't know what they're called in Italy I've done a couple of weddings in Italy and both times the pasta was served and it was insane but I couldn't tell you what the sauce was what do you think bolognese you're just like bolognese yeah bolognese is my top dinner all the time all the time Remember when you lived in London? Yeah. Come round. Two garlic breads. Hold on a minute.

1:12:52Full mound of what? Spaghetti, bolognese. Bolognese, enough to feed three people. Yeah, probably. No cutlery? No. What have you got for a knife and fork? Two baguettes, two garlic baguettes. Garlic baguettes. mate we i didn't realize we've been recording for an hour and seven minutes that's that's that's fine yeah we need to rattle through a couple more of these uh cool extreme says when was this ricky's itk or was he just blagging is that why there wasn't a pod after finale's announcement he knew to hang on for tonali as well yeah i like full disclosure here the only keys I had was for the Tonali deal there was a lot of people coming up to me on Insta and Twitter and stuff like that saying Fernandes your ITK came in it wasn't about Fernandes it was about Tonali and I knew it was going to happen so you're saying you're saying you have ITK the Frenchman the Frenchman passed me information Because I heard from the lawyers.

1:14:03Right. Okay. I heard from the lawyers end of last week saying it's a goer. Right. Okay. I've heard from the source today. Yeah. That the source, we ain't done yet. Wow. Okay. More to come. How many more? More. Yeah. What? Free targets. fuck I think tonight there's a short list the Tonali and then two others Savio has just posted on Twitter calm calm calm what he's posted that someone already either mocked it up or done me right okay okay okay yeah calmer calmer calmer right you better be gooder sorry can we get Valerie on the pod no Ron Burgundy can we get Valerie on the pod she's got good football knowledge how does she feel about spending all this money is she excited about the season to come no she'd rather let football go away forever unless she had a couple glasses of wine Abernatchez is guessing Kane back the solution to our striker problems obviously yeah come back for a couple of seasons and win the league big man and take Shearer's record while you're at it did you enjoy the England game yesterday enjoy it no I did think that we were going out to DR Congo which would have been terrible for me because I've been on record saying they shouldn't have even been there yeah oh really that's not very fair of you no I know I just don't I can't be arsed with like Kate Bird can't be arsed with her yeah I mean yeah there's too many games in this World Cup there is but and I'm having to stay up late as well to watch them which is you know I don't like but yesterday like I was saying that I said to you in the group that yesterday felt like I was watching Tottenham I had the same nerves and anxiety and watching the game through my fucking fingers that are over my face uh when Kane scored that second goal absolutely just ripped it straight into the net yeah um and he ran off and like what's a goal by I had such an emotion that rose through my body like I was going to cry.

1:16:32Really? I don't get like that over international football. Would you watch it on your own? Yeah, I did, yeah. In the front room of my own. And I was like, fuck. I think it was just relief. Obviously, I want England to win the World Cup. Yes, of course. But I think more, and this is, maybe it's a bit sad, but I love Kane. and I always feel like he was never given his flowers and now he's got his move to, you know, move to Bayern and people are a bit more kind of giving them to him. But it's just nice for everyone to be like, to be talking about him for me. Like, you know, the captain come up trumps.

1:17:12If you need someone, it's Captain Kane and all that. And then obviously him ripping that shot. Exactly that. it's that as well not only is it Kane scoring because he scored the header and then you're like I'm pretty sure as well when the camera came round and the players were running to him he was shouting what now what now and I fucking love that energy what now motherfuckers yeah what now that's gonna be love it it's gonna be Spurs next year what now what now yeah we have spent 400 million in one transfer window what so what what are you gonna do what are you gonna do about it Spurs are manipulating the transfer market Tottenham all these years Spurs and Manchester City are destroying they're ruining the transfer market what's our responsibility for you to get players cheaper than the club that want to sell them because we're Billy Big Bollocks now now we're ruining the transfer market is it?

1:18:07hold up how much did Newcastle play for what are they? quite a lot it was Man United fans at the moment but I know Newcastle 65 and Stuttgart I remember at the time or maybe it was Bayern Munich at the time, said, that's mental to be paying that amount of money for him. I love him, but you can see, would I want him leading the line at Spurs now? Probably not. No, but, do you know what I mean? Like Newcastle runs, they're piping up, and they spend that money? Fucking shut up. Yeah, where was all this energy last year when Liverpool bought Eketike for 85 million and bought Isak for 130? Yeah. For him as well.

1:18:56Yeah, 109. Where was that energy? There wasn't a conversation in. It's like what it's what Ange said. Spurs just does funny things to people. Yeah. They expect it from Liverpool. Who the fuck did these guys come out of nowhere and doing what? What's on a time? Yeah, mate. Yeah. What now? What now? Nothing you can do about it nothing you can do about it uh moist hat says where is the this is tottenham pod uh this is the poppy do behind a patron ricky we're supposed to record it yesterday but i didn't check with ricky to whether or not he's available and he wasn't available because he had to work one of his day his day job yesterday yeah so that's where it is it will come we'll do it and maybe uh reset the questions but yeah of course we can do another one yeah um become a patron patreon.com forward slash five cook cookie rock says which signing could you could make sorry which signing could we make that would really push fans of other clubs over the edge morgan rogers oh my god yeah yeah yeah yeah we don't even have to sign him just do just bid for him just bid yeah yeah yeah so funny wouldn't it what have you got sorry you got financial problems over there but have you just been fined 12 million yeah i heard that yeah so you probably need some money hey sure yeah yeah yeah uh all right give us morgan rogers we'll give you 100 million sort you out or it uh do a really kind of uh 40 mil yeah yeah a measly kind of really fucking ruffle the feathers we'll give you 48 mil for morgan rogers everyone be up in arms 48 but and an option you know you're five percent sell them there you go that's fair could I ask what happened between football between the lines did you and Dan fall out no we're just having a break for the summer we'll be back at the beginning midway for August I saw someone comment on Spotify I'm missing football between the lines so much I'm listening to a Tottenham pod now yeah he's a Chelsea fan he's Joe I think he's one of the raggets So there's these two brothers we call the Raggett brothers.

1:21:13That's their surname. I think it's Olly Raggett and Joe Raggett. And I've obviously threatened them a couple of times over the summer. Good. So at some point, I'm going to smash the grounding out of both of them. Hang on. Is that have sex with them? Yeah, I think it is. I'm not going to do that. Right. I mean, anyway, so there is a Chelsea fan listening to this podcast right now. Good. All right. we're gonna have to wrap this up aren't we because we've been going on for ages but any of us that point out

1:21:50no okay lots lots of stuff yeah exciting times and like I say become a patron and anything else to push oh do you know what can I just read something out I agree of course you can cheers I agreed to do for someone who is listening to this podcast. Ricky, you know him. Oh, do I? Because you on Lads Anonymous, we sponsored a podcast. You sponsored the finger bob. You know, it was the what's the name of the bottle? Flushkind. Flushkind, yes. And on the fighting cock in the next month or so, we'll be pushing Flushkind as well. Which essentially we'll do it when it comes. Okay. But it's just he's working on a campaign about or acknowledging the fact that and making further awareness on the fact that when England play, the expected domestic violence rates go up.

1:23:04So when England win it can be 38 % increase in domestic violence of women being attacked in their own homes and if 26 and if they uh if they win sorry if they lose 38 % if they win 26 % they win it goes up by a quarter uh what kind of scumbag is hitting their wives because England you can't contain the and I don't know man it's just we'll do a proper reading and explaining detail but But yeah, it's just being aware and, you know, thinking about who's around you and what they're doing and how they're treating their other half, I guess. Right, that has been the Fighting Cop podcast. Ricky, thank you very much, my friend.

1:23:45Always a pleasure. And we'll be back next week.

From the publisher

Tottenham are spending big and the rest of football can't seem to cope.

Flav and Ricky react to the arrivals of Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, discuss why rival fans are so rattled by Spurs' ambition, and explain why this transfer window feels completely different to anything we've experienced before.

They also debate whether we've really overpaid, what the ownership change has already meant for the club, why De Zerbi is being backed like no Spurs manager before him, the sale of Vuskovic, more transfer targets still to come, Kulusevski's recovery, listener questions, and whether it's finally time to dream a little bigger.
