In short
Debate on whether Tottenham have truly “changed” after the Lewis family succession, Daniel Levy’s role, and what the club’s new spending/PR means. They also discuss transfer strategy and player fit under Roberto De Zerbi, focusing on Lucas Bergvall’s development and whether Tottenham should keep him, plus the potential signing of Rafael Leão.
Guest backgrounds
No named guests appear in the transcript; it’s a panel-style Spurs/Tottenham Q&A with multiple hosts (Ben, Ricky, and others referenced).
Key claims
Levy prioritized control and slowed processes; the Lewis kids are trying to prove Levy was the problem while also acting from PR/panic after near “doomsday.” Transfers like Tonali/Fernandes show intent; footballers should go where they’re paid. Bergvall is hyped but Spurs shouldn’t rely on incomplete young players; De Zerbi can re-educate him.
Notable examples
Loan obligation accounting for Radu Drăgușin; comparisons to Succession; references to Bergvall’s misuse under Frank; Tonali/Fernandes “touches/control” metrics; Portugal-Croatia (Leão involved) and AC Milan context; Rafael Leão’s output and pressing concerns.

39It's the fighting.
43It's the fighting. Cock It's a fighting
51It's a fighting Cock A camel turn out Stop putting cornettos up your bum I can't I can't Why up your bum? Why don't you just eat them? I don't know It's just like It calls you down Like John's mate When he gets too hot He puts a mini milk I put it up his own ass I've never had a mini milk Since I was a kid I'd be a bit worried If someone was putting it up their ass now Yeah, no, it's a grown man. He says that it reduces the inner core temperature of your body. It might be on to something. Yeah. I mean, I am so hot that I would consider it. I really would. It's bad, isn't it? Yeah, it's just ridiculous.
30Good, but it's bad. Yeah. I mean, we had one last week. Why are we having another one now? I know. Don't say global warming. It doesn't exist. Myth. Just a myth, isn't it? It's one big for gay. It's a for gay. if Trump don't believe it I don't believe it but when was the last time you had a mint Cornetto? they are I would say they are up there good yeah good they're good how the fuck is no how the fuck has Jamie O 'Hara turned the word good into a thing good and I hear myself doing it it's like I feel like my sense of humour a lot of the time with my mates we're just like a soundboard at the best of times in terms of just like in between as quotes or yeah all that kind of stuff but i feel like the sports bar has added another level of just like phrases that will just rinse and repeat just as my only sense of humor is is is sports bar on talk sport the best show that they have 100 yeah easily it's become that it was white and jordan or just just say jordan but jordan's jordan's in my bad books at the moment yeah i think he's in all our bad books and he what's his fucking problem he's like Leave his pocket, didn't he, mate?
43Yeah. Leave his bloody pocket. He pretends not to be, though. He says I'm not, but... I'm the old man. Now you fucking ain't. Yeah. Oh, look. Levy's texting with crying eyes emoji. He prefers to have pants pulled down with Van Hecker. It's just not true, is it? No. I mean, we discussed this last week, Ben, but yes. No, it's not true. It's not true at all. It's about getting the job done and ensuring your manager and Roberto De Zerbe is comfortable. Yeah, but I don't even... That's not true. as in like, obviously that is true, but like, it's not, I don't believe that happened. Yeah. I don't believe that.
19That Levy texting was like, oh yeah, they've had their fucking pants pulled down about that. I just don't, I think it's bollocks. All of it's nonsense, I think. Right. Oh, I see what you mean. I think both like, what was being said isn't true in the sense that, it's like, you're right, it's the perfect deal for us. We had to get it done. But also, I just don't, I just think he's saying that. There's no way that Levy would say that, I don't think. As much as I think there's an element of bitterness and resentment there and what's going on, but I still just don't believe that he would do that. Yeah, Levy would never use emojis in a message.
49No, exactly. That's the thing that threw me off. I added the emojis. I don't think there was any emojis. Do you think Daniel Levy, who's worth£600 million, is sending cryonised emojis? I don't think he might do. You know when someone's written something that's either like, like text you something that they've either written on ChatGPT or whatever because you can tell their pronunciation and like phrasing of things is completely different. I had a story recently with one of my mates who his sister got cheated on and they'd been together for quite a long time. And one of the reasons that, like he was desperately trying to get her to get back in contact with him and all that kind of stuff.
25And one of the reasons that she basically got over it and was like, this guy's a fucking idiot is because she could tell that he was asking ChatGPT for like advice on what to say back to her. And she was like, his grammar is usually absolutely awful. but now he's sending me like paragraphs and paragraphs perfectly punctuated he didn't realise that she also still had he was like signed into her Google account and she went to her history went on ChatGPT and could see that he was having conversations with ChatGPT to be like what do I say to her what do I say I mean it is a godsend but you don't use it too much I know I think that's what Levy's done there or that's what yeah slapped an emoji in just for a bit of comical relief Radu Jaggerson's gone loan deal with an obligation to buy we're never gonna see a fucking penny are we from that do you know interestingly in the way it's accounted is that that obligation to buy of 21 million euros whatever it is that counts on in our um buffer this window this window yeah in an accountancy prep because it's an obligation to buy the money is coming on based on certain parameters.
30As far as I understand, that counts to the sales this summer. So that's another load we can spend. Yeah, more in the war chest. What was it, like 20 mil? 20 mil equals, I don't know, 60 in real terms if you got the cash. And we got the cash, boy. Yeah. We got the cash. Football money ain't real money anyway. What do you think? I've been kind of banging on about the idea that Spurs are changed. Enoch are different. The Lewis kids were just biding their time. It was like succession in the purest form. Whereas some response to that is it was always in it. Enoch were always there. Enoch were always the problem.
10Just Daniel Levy was a part of it. What do you make of that? I don't... I think Levy was... I don't think it was ever always about the money with Levy necessarily. I think it's like what we spoke about before about wanting to have so much control and get the best deal all the time and kind of slowing the process down because of that. I think the money has obviously been there in the past, but there's obviously been a sizable increase in the amount that's been injected in the past year that hasn't been injected in the past. So I think both elements of it are true. I still think there's an element of, maybe this is just too cynical, but I think that with what happened with Levy last summer and obviously the younger Lewis family kind of taking over and Vinay coming in, I think there's an element where they're looking to really prove a point to show Tottenham fans that Levy was actually the problem and try and increase their own sort of stocks and PR within how they're fought around the football club.
03Also, I think they're panicking because they came so close to the doomsday scenario and they know that they can't afford to ever really do that again. But I don't know. I think they were all the problem in different ways, but I just think now it's a bit of a race to show that they weren't the biggest problem and they're trying to throw Levy under the bus a bit. Not to say that I'm not sticking up for Levy, but I think there's an element of that. I think that Joe Lewis and Daniel Levy ran the football club. Yeah. Now Joe Lewis is not in control. He's an old man who luckily just escaped jail. And very much the Lewis kids are in charge.
40They never were in charge. It's like Succession. If everyone hasn't watched Succession, you've been living under a rock, watch it. Ricky hasn't watched it, has he? No, living under a rock, folks. It's nice under this rock. I knew. As soon as I started speaking, I looked at Ricky, I'd see him start to glaze over. Yeah, the eye is glazing over. You could apply what's happened at Spurs to the four seasons of succession. That's what it's like. It's basically what happened with the Gooners as well, wasn't it, with the Cronkies? Yeah. Was it Josh Cronkies, the son, that kind of came in and was like, no, I'm not having this anymore.
08I'm just going to sort of change the way we're doing things and look what it's led them to. So you never know. I mean, the spending's there. I mean, the Tonali and Fernandes deals alone show the intent. But to get those three signings in, And like, there was, I know Gabby Ablonglaw isn't the kind of like bastion of sensibility. But he was going, I don't, he goes, oh, well, they're only going there for the money. They're only going there for the money. Salissi's only going there for the money. Robertson's only going there for the money. Tonali could have been playing Champions League football. They're going there for the money.
45And I'm like, well, why is this a revelation? Of course, why wouldn't, if someone's paying you more money, we would all go. Why do we have to hold footballers up to a different standard? That fat-headed idiot would have gone anywhere if they would double his salary. If Sky Sports came along to TalkSport and were like, we want to poach Gabriel Bunn, I don't know what simulation we're living in that that would happen, but if they were like, we really want you as the new anchor for Sky Sports News, we're going to build a new show around you, we're going to double your wages what you're on TalkSport, you're telling me that he wouldn't go?
15Of course he wouldn't, he should. Exactly. All human beings should look to better their life. It doesn't matter if they're footballers or not. like and like Newcastle fans Ricky had just been like like banging on our we're going to be oh no it's not even there what's the Geordia it doesn't matter we don't have to sell money we don't have to sell Gabby we don't they've spunked the better tune of 200 million pound on Voltamada Visser Alanga Alanga I didn't even add him and the and the new one Ken Ken we'll just sign three players go for it I'm off the top of the again Ken Mumbai it's not that is it it's terrible that's way off no I don't know what it is so I can't no it's not well there's there's no Ben you do it let's all risk our professional careers here what's his name who's a Swiss guy that I've just bought yeah that's what I'm talking about I've just forgot I've completely forgot his name guess his name it's like Manzambi that's it Manzambi so woke couldn't you they bought an Ajax kid Ken Mumbai
32close enough Wenzambi or whatever he said Ken Mumbai they bought him for like 60 they're buying there's a kid they've got from Ajax Sean Stewart or something midfielder who's 18 for like 40 and then there's the other one they bought from Hoffenheim like Tor something like that I think they've bought they've they have they've generated a lot of money through sales haven't they ESAC was huge amounts of money like you should be able to do something it's not our fault that you know you're sort of bitter like you know we talked about why every other club hates us it's because of stuff like this like I think we do have a role to play Rick in why everybody hates us like why people attack you on Twitter before this they still hated us this just makes the hate more intense but they always hated us i like the thing i saw the other day was um the villa fans because we don't even think about titan anymore like well well well firstly that may or may not be true you're definitely thinking about us now and the ball ain't been kicked yeah little brummy bastards i think there's going to be new rivalries that are going to be born out of this how many more do we need that'd be a quarter of our fixtures will be like a the tonali derby the fucking PSR derby against Villa the Gaffiag Bundlehor derby it's too much what did you say yeah it's just that all these like clubs just hate us now so everyone's going to be like I mean obviously they'll be trying it but to like their fans to really fucking start goading us and to get one up over us is it's going to be interesting but bring it on mate got Newcastle first home game of the season Saturday 5.30 kickoff let's get them done on the cobbles yeah let's get them done on the cobbles boys it's not enough have that you Geordie bastard yeah bash like sometimes I don't sort of warrant I don't sort of encourage violence some people deserve it don't they happy birthday Sonny was I don't know how old he is 34 yeah I think so yesterday and are you happy are you celebrating I'm having a cornetto you're in a cornetto it's just weird I just because like I was looking on Reddit and someone posted it happy birthday Sunday it got 1.1 thousand likes like he still lives with us like and I was looking at his replays of his goals and whatnot and how he was with the fans.
17And I just, I don't usually clamor after the, I don't care if players play for us. I genuinely believe that, to me, Kane's time at Spurs, to me, is like a fart in the wind. It's just, he was here for a bit, scored tons of goals. But he's gone now. You don't think about the fart anymore. Whereas, It's like I've got airproof pants on. And it just stays with me wherever I go. I love him. I love him. Yeah, he is a club legend. I was going to hesitate to say that word, but he is. He is in every sense. My missus and my kids love him as well. Love him so much. and often, sporadic times during the house, you'll just hear, you alright mate?
14That clip's so good. Fucking what a clip. What a clip. What a clip. You alright mate? So good. That is wicked. Do you see, in order for, to further piss off the Aston Villa fans, we've signed Cole Ramsey, who is their 18-year-old attacking midfielder. Brother of? Ben? Jacob Jacob Ramsey and there's another one in there there's three I think there's another Ramsey to Josh Gordon oh no I went to school with someone called Josh Gordon Ramsey he's really older brother to the Ramsey that's it they're bringing in to replace Anana just on his own deal bringing in Gordon Ramsey yeah and the Ramseys was there one that was going to there's two I think there's two there's one that played at Newcastle yeah Jacob who's like they signed from Villa they signed from Villa I always rated him he had injury problems so if this kid is anywhere near as good as him we've got a good one there we were linked with him quite a lot weren't we Jacob Ramsey for a while yeah weren't one that Ricky approved of no no no no name's not foreign enough for me unfortunately it's not called Sandra I'm not interested no exactly yeah it is the Q &A podcast boys and gentlemen boys and gentlemen yeah the two groups I like the most yeah something else I do love Reddit we always go to Reddit for our questions they always send in loads they're amazing those lads over there some some couple of crazies on there for sure but um but the top 25 most expensive transfers ever so at number
55from 25 to 21 you've got Harry Kane 21 Kolo Morani has cost exactly the same amount of money as Kane did in the same window from Frankfurt to PSG. Wow. Kane went to Bayern Munich. It's also funny the other day that it was like, when did we sell Kane? Was it summer 2023? Yeah. There was someone dug up like a Twitter thread of a Bayern aggregator account. This was back in like the April. So when Kane was still at Spurs being like, who's the guy that was running things at Bayern like the president, I think he used to play for him. Can't remember his name. It was like basically like they were really pushing.
30Rummenigger? Something like that. Yeah. they were like they were like really pushing for Mawani well that is his name that is his name
48what have you got on your lip there yeah what is that of course has he got like a zip has he got zims or something like that yeah fuck you it's made me laugh too much it's popped out I know I thought it was a full seat you know he's like fuck you fuck you You know, it's mental, these kids. That's what I'm living off this summer, mate. But they said in that thread, it was like, it was like they're really pushing for Mawani. They're not interested in Harry Kane. They don't think he's the right kind of forward for them and all that kind of stuff. It's like, imagine that, that turn of events. Well, we kept Kane and they ended up buying Mawani for 100 mil.
22Do you know who was next most expensive? Or same amount of money, but went a year before. The world's biggest soccer tournament has arrived and you can trade the entire tournament on Calci. Crazy. Where is he now? He's at Betis. Did they sign him permanently? Because I know he's on loan there. I think so. I think he's one of the ones that United actually managed to sell in the end unlike Sancho amazing what an average player can do in a farmers league that's what's mad about the United thing right now is that they're going on about like oh they didn't want to overspend on Fernandes and Tonali and if that's their prerogative that's fine but they were saying we want to learn our lessons from the past but it was like yeah but you spunked all that money in the past under Woodward and that on players like Anthony like it's not Fernandes and Tonali are two totally different players that are probably worth overpaying for in this market you want to learn your lessons from the past you still go out and buy good players like don't let it stop you from just because you don't want to buy another Anthony again that's what their logic in all of this is so flawed you're only overspending if they're not good players like it could be there is a risk attached right but you mitigate that risk by the quality of player you're bringing in and the likelihood of that transfer being successful and all transfers are a risk because you can see dead certs actually you know to be washed down the drain like Verón for example it seemed like a dead cert and he came from I think it was Parma to Man United but one of the best the Argentine midfielder one of the best in the world at the time got to United and he was like oh you just can't do it in this league for whatever reason you just can't do it so there is an element of risk attached but you're buying two like Fernandes has been talked about for a year he's talked about when he was Southampton and he stood out at West Am two teams that have been relegated you invest the money and hope that it works out you bought a player who's had, at 21, had 97 Premier League games.
51They played every minute available to him. That's about as successful as you can be in two relegated teams, or any team. If you look back at how to win, the book I've mentioned lots and lots of times, but how to win the Premier League, the way they judged successful transfers, whereas whether or not in the next two years after the transfer was completed, did they play 50 % of Premier League games. If they did, that's a successful transfer. That's it. It was as rudimentary as that, yeah. So, by that metric, Beraval's been a successful transfer.
32He's my pet hate at the moment. Is it unjustified? Yes. Okay. Yeah. You think so as well, Ben? Why? Why? Why is he your pet hate? I'm just waiting for someone to explain to me show me an example of why there is so much hype around to be fair the first season under Ange the thing is you're always going to hype up young players a little bit more who come into a difficult situation start with Archie Gray sort of similar thing although I still think Gray is better but you're always going to hype up younger players a little bit more that come in and show a lot when it's just an absolute sinking ship around them.
16I think with Bergvau, like in that first season under, sorry, his first season when he came in, I remember the like Liverpool Cup semi-final and that kind of stuff. Yeah, there was that game. That's the one I know, yeah. And he did play, he had a good few months before he got injured and obviously missed the final. I don't know, but my problem isn't with him, Ben. My problem is that we allowed ourselves to be in the situation where we have to rely on a player that's a long way from being complete. Yeah, and we're not doing that anymore. No, exactly. And here in, that's where we should be at. Yeah.
46we haven't got time. So if you've recognised that, why are you still gunning for... It's not his fault. Yeah, he's getting it. Someone's got it. Someone's got it. What do you want me to do? He's the fool guy. He's the fool guy. Sorry. Ricky, are we not doing a podcast? What am I supposed to do? I've got to talk. Yeah. Someone's got to get it. Yeah, right. That's true. And I'll sit down with his family if he wants. I'll sit down with him and say, look, it's not your boy's fault. It's not his fault. And they're like, what's it got to do with you? Do you feel the same about Archie Gray, though? It's basically the same situation.
17Archie, yeah. I mean, no. I'm not saying don't buy both of these players. I'm just don't engineer a situation where we have to rely on them. Yeah. Allow them a situation where they can flourish and grow into the team. Yeah. But at Spurs, because of the position we're in, it's so much easier for talented young players to get lots and lots and lots of game time. Whereas at Man City, and I hate to say it down the road, the wankers, you only get anywhere near that first team if you are genuinely good enough to be there if you're not you have to train you have to develop you have to go out wherever it might be whereas at Spurs given the situation we we find ourselves in we we had to rely on that but Archie Gray and Berevao played so much football for Spurs and at that age where they're both certainly I think Archie Gray's closer to it I just think Lucas is just a way off of where he needs to be to be anywhere near our starting lineup.
14He's a lot more raw, isn't he? Than Gray. Yeah. And obviously there's something there because I'm, you know, a chubby, I would say flabby actually, flabby, sort of mid-40s bloke talking into a microphone. So Barcelona might know a little bit more about his potential than me. Maybe. Wow. Well, yeah. No, definitely. But I'm just saying from what our perspective is, in order for Tottenham to behave like a big club, you have to be elite at 18 to get anywhere near our first team. That's why it's interesting what Newcastle are doing now, obviously, with selling all the big players that they have. They've kind of done what we've done over the years and spent a lot of big money on young players and hope that maybe when you're going for a rebuild, you kind of need that.
57You need more players that want to be there and hungry and are going to play, but it's still a risk like chucking all those, what was his name, and buy. Chucking him straight in. But I think with Gray, it's like a lot clearer to see why De Zerbi would want to keep him as opposed to Bergvau even though the rumours have been that De Zerbi does want to keep Bergvau now. Yeah. I think Gray is just like if Tonali and Fernandes are going to be your starting midfield pivot next season Yeah. Having the two backup options as Benton, Korn, Gray makes way more sense because Gray is just a much safer pair of hands.
25Like he's just a more of a sponge for what the manager wants them to do. Bergvau is a little bit more like you can see it in the way he plays. He's a lot more wide-eyed. He's a lot more 100 miles an hour a lot more raw and I think that brings the best out of him at times but also brings the worst and I think if you're looking to control games a lot better next season and be that more dominant team like we will if you're 2-0 up at home for example and you want to manage the game and rest Tonali Fernandes whatever you've got Benson Court to come on who's an older reliable safer pair of hands and Archie Gray I think is much more likely to get minutes in that kind of situation than what Bergvall would be just to come on and just settle things a little bit and I think that's why he wants to keep he would be more in favour of keeping him as opposed to Bergvall he's probably ahead of him in the pecking order so what do you what do you see for his future Ricky you keep him around yeah oh yeah for sure for sure I definitely would keep him around I I mean what I'd be saying to the lad is like you've got Tonali and Fernandes in front of you who are like at the top of their game and it's from these types of players that how you can learn and adapt and educate yourself and there was this really interesting kind of graph and it was saying how many players have touches on the ball and Bergvold during a game he has multiple far too many for a deserved team so straight away it's kind of like look at Tonali look at Fernandes look how they're controlling it look how they're moving the hips and just looking out straight away to get those angles off and start passing and moving quicker it's it it's on you to kind of to be able to scan to understand your position on the pitch where you should be and already have those options in front of you and not taking the ball, having far too many touches, slowing the pace of the game down, where you're already in a position where you could be pressed and lose the ball.
17So it's those things. And you don't look like the timing and the speed and the aggression of the Premier League. It's not a case of, right, Lucas, that's what I want you to do. Right, boss, I go and do it. You're going to have to do it in training. You're going to have to do it coming on in 10 minutes. You're going to have to do it in tight get. You know, you have to learn all of that stuff. So for him to stick around and kind of have a bit of a re-education in how Deserby wants his midfielders to play, you know, it's going to be an extra kind of string to his bow, really, to be able to play in different ways.
53So I would like him to stick around and this will be a telling time whether he is able to adjust his game, whether he is kind of open to listening to new ideas and what he and how deserved he wants him to play and maybe change positional where he is. So I do see him having a long-term future at Tottenham, but it's going to be really interesting over the next six months to a year to see how he adapts himself. Yeah. Yeah, I agree. I want him to understand that his anger is fucking under-transfered Tommy the thing is I feel for Bergvold because he got he got fucked over big time last season under Frank like big time like he started a lot of the games obviously in that first period but he was playing he's not a number 10 then he was being played out on the left then he was being played out on the right he's I think to the most basic level anybody that watches him understands what his game can be about and understands that He's a box-to-box midfielder.
54Like he is a, he's not that one that you want like a Fernandes on the edge of your own box kind of playing the ball through the lines. He's more of that Tonali kind of profile in the sense that energy up and down, good in both boxes, takes risks, but you know, he's just a box-to-box midfielder and he never played there under Frank in that second season that was so key for him to kick on. And then he obviously got injured and all that, but it's going to be an interesting project, I think, for De Zerbe with Bergvau. And I think he, by the fact that he wants to keep him, obviously he sees value in trying to nurture him.
28But if the money's there, then I think Spurs will sell. Agreed. Let's do the questions then. Actually, before that, we have a message from our partners, Salie. What I found out is that you can have essentially turn your phone into two phones, whereas you've got a separate number. So, So I'm not suggesting you do this, but Cal uses it to have a second number. And what does he call it? Do you know what he calls that second number? Chate of birds. Chate of birds. You can split your phone in two for some reason. So if you are, if you haven't to, I'm not going to say this. Yes. So if you're having to travel into Europe or elsewhere, 190 countries, actually, it works in, then you can use the eSIM app which is called Saley so you don't need any sort of dodgy sim sellers you get your data plan locked in as soon as you land and it's cheaper than whatever you're going to pay for your roaming charges wherever you're with thanks to Brexit so in every mad political moment there is financial opportunity a friend a friend of the pod yeah from America come to spend a week in Amsterdam, Belgium, downloaded the Saley app, and he said he could not believe the prices of what he paid.

57He said it was just incredible. Sounds like you're lying. Did you make all that up? Do you want me to show you the message right now and then you can apologise to me? Is that your first or second phone?
09So you didn't just make all that up? No. Swear down. Swear on my life. I don't know why I'm trying to bring up the fact you might be lying to sell the thing that we're supposed to sell. I just, when you heard it, I was just thinking about the audience. It sounded like you just made it up, Ricky. Right, keep talking and we'll see who's... Essentially, if you download the eSame app and you are traveling, you will save more than it costs you to use. Do you understand? You don't have to worry about roaming charges. You can look at all the stuff you want to look at all the time. If you've got kids and you know the kids, if you're one of them parents that just give...
45I know I would be. iPads to the kids at dinner table because they're just a fucking nightmare. Then you don't have to worry about data plans. He's got the receipts. I have got the receipts. I can't really see it because of the ring. Read it out to me. Who's your name? Wes. Wes, right, Wes. Yeah, Wes. Use Saley again for a trip and 10 out of 10, love it. Saved loads. Our cell carrier wants$10 a day and I got by with$15 of data for a nine-day trip. good so what's that so ten dollars a day nine ninety dollars or fifteen dollars yeah what do you want what do you want to do yeah what do you want i know you don't like hearing adverts in the middle of a podcast i get it but we're trying to save you money here that's a lot of money actually and i'll tell you i had a meeting with them the other day yeah they give me the figures of people that actually use the sign-up code and we are smashing it boys so come on Everybody, if they want, if you want to help the podcast and save money, join, um, sale, download sale.
46The link is in the description below and you get 15 % off right now. If you use our code, which is the fine cop, um, uh, Ricky's, um, Ricky wasn't lying about ITK. Well, he asked me, I said to improve Ben. I went, prove it to me. Yeah. And he went, how can I prove it? And I was like, you have the answers. you're it sounds like you're making this up again lying all the time and he said watch the tonali video where he said oh it's great to be here i'm you know and he said he's going to specifically specifically mention the manager now obviously there's a chance that everybody does but they not everybody does and you said categorically he will yeah so then when i watched it and i was like and waiting for it.
37And right at the end, he says to play under Robert. Yeah. And I'm like, Ricky, I mean, that's as much proof as I'm going to get, really. I'm telling you, I'm telling you guys, the Frenchman is, he's... Do you believe him, Ben? I believe him. Yeah. I do believe you, Ricky, but that is, I'm not having that. That's not enough of you? That's not enough. What about the fact that you said Talali was done like a week before? No, I trust more in that, but like the interview stuff when you like you read back into Tonali and the fact that they're both from Brescia and all that kind of stuff he was always going to mention Deserbi was he though of course he was Fernandes did as well I'm pretty sure didn't he I don't know that's impressive you've sat down and thought right someone might ask me to prove what I'm saying I'm going to say Tonali mentions Deserbi you think do you know what this is amazing that you think I'm capable of playing 4D chess with you boys fuck me that isn't ringing in Dawson cheers lads I trust no I trust you I'm just saying on the point about the manager yeah anyone could have told you that yeah my issue with your your ITK Ricky was when we were talking yesterday morning I think and then you started dropping in stuff about Kinski being a fan I don't care about that well I care about if Kruppi's signing don't come in here and give us ITK that we're not interested in right before we go any further let's simmer down on the ITK chat because leaks you know loose lips sink ships and sink my itk okay if we're but you know let's just say i i um i'm calling stuff and it's coming up i've got a bit ricky speaks you listen he doesn't speak often but when he speaks you listen i am all is 100 but i'm also worried about the fact that ricky knows he has this sort of power and the attention and i know his track record of just winding people up.
33So at any moment he could start this. Well, yesterday morning, yesterday morning, just sit in there and get a phone call from Flav. Who's this ITK then? Where's this information? And I knew, I knew. Straight up playing on his mind. I'm all in. I'm all in. I just want to know more about what the Frenchman says. It does funny things to people though, doesn't it? The ITK stuff. It's like now everybody wants to be one or everyone wants to know one. It just like, It's got us each in for the next thing now. The geys are online. Is it SZA? Well, I was going to say, have you seen what he's just tweeted?
08Oh God, what? So people at home don't know who he is. Who is he? So SZY, I think he's a kid. He's quite young. He has information. He has information. And he's got a lot of stuff right. Basically since like going back to like January. He still does, but he basically used to just be known as like a compilation maker. Yeah. And I think maybe through that, it's him. Yeah, I said why comps is now. I remember he's good. They were good. Yeah. And I don't know whether it's through that or not, but he's obviously got some sort of inside contact. He tweeted half an hour ago, following positive talks with Kruppi's camp, the player has again expressed his interest in joining Tottenham.

19make sense? There's no place like Chrome. Check responses set up required compatibility and availability varies 18 plus. Okay. Right. And he was the one that went massive on Fernandez like a few weeks ago. Didn't tweet anything for a week. And then everyone started to doubt him. And then we're just like, well, there you go. When he signed, I was like, told you. If you're giving information, things can change so much. So many moving parts. So why are people hating on IT guys to get it wrong. People don't. It's because people are so desperate. Transfer news does mental things to people, doesn't it?
50They can't account for the fact that something might change. I think one of the other things he's got wrong was that after the Dortmund game, no, sorry, after the West Ham game pre-Dortmund in the Champions League last season, he said that Frank will be sacked. But I think a lot of people were hearing that, including like journos. And then I think that was quite clear that something did change at the club and they were going to give him the Dortmund game. Like, I think, so even the stuff he's got wrong, you know, and there's not been much of it from his track record. Yeah, I follow him. I follow him.
22He was the one that said about Rafael Leal like a few weeks ago. Apparently it's been offered to us twice. What do you think of that? What is, that's it. That's the question. What is the hesitation? Because you hesitated, I hesitated, Ricky didn't move. When I say Rafael Leal, he's right over the street, Rick. Oh yeah, gotcha. Why? for starters foreign foreign name yeah yeah yeah get it straight in me and attacking left wing not British brilliant in straight away good starting but is there a moment's hesitation in you Ricky when you think should we sign him so for his compilation of taking players on scoring assisting just athletic ability to get up and down the pitch carrying the ball all of it is fucking fantastic it like he has scored some worldies he's a brilliant player and it would be you know i'd love him at tottenham looking at that he's been at ac milan so he's been through the ac i don't know if he come through the ac milan academy but he's played in you know pressured atmosphere playing for milan so he's got that right mentality he's played with Tonali as well I believe yeah yeah you know played under him or with him with him how old is he 26 what was he about 7 when he played with him Tonali I was thinking Deserbi I thought you said Deserbi I was so confused and I was like how can you play under Tonali I was like so confused in my head I'm like Deserbi laying it off to me out goodbye back in the day good player but the one thing that does kind of um it doesn't worry me but whether he's a deserving player and that is if he can press from the front if he is gonna be like if you read the stories for Milan that he he wasn't that style of player now you could have fallen out of love with Milan Milan would what haven't been doing great your head drops your motivation goes all of that stuff and I don't know whether you can coach intensity into people like for like just an example of the top of my head and dombele oh you play so kind of almost lackadaisical you don't look like you're putting any effort in and it's like marino's gonna go there and be this badass and fucking get in playing so people are just they're different they have different temperaments just that's the way they are and it's hard to you can't coach that aggression into people if you're not that way inclined so that that's the only thing that would worry I think you're right that would worry me if if you're expecting Kudus Solanke Madders everyone to be chasing down from the front to try and win ball possession higher up the pitch add that quick turnover if someone doesn't do that and doesn't cut down the other person's passing lane then they just pop it out and move we saw it so many times under Tottenham where the left side was doing it the right side wasn't or it just breaks down you all have to go so you can't be reliant on most of the players doing it.
53You all have to play your role. You're right. Liao isn't known for his pressing. He's not known for his work rate. He's incredible in sort of transition in terms of if you hit teams in the break. I'm curious to see if there is room for someone like him and Savinho, a winger who is excellent at carrying brilliant 1v1s, that kind of thing. because he doesn't necessarily, I don't think De Zerbi wants anyone just running like headless chickens and chasing and trying to press and, you know, to win the ball back. He might want that from some of his forwards, the midfielders. But I think moreover, the way De Zerbi is going to set up is about can you be in the right position, the position you're supposed to be in as we build up from the back.
43Yeah. And in that instance, having someone who is an impeccable attacking player who's comfortable with a ball his feet and can really hurt the fullback or the centre-back on your side by going past you. I think there's room for someone like him. I don't know if it's him or Savinho or... I think there is room actually for someone who isn't necessarily going to press. I don't know though. Are you talking about a cheeky little luxury player? Yeah. Fucking little 90s throwback. little bit of a burber dog, do what you want, Sam, just stick it in the onion net. I'm thinking more Ginola, yeah. I'm thinking someone get the ball to him and get him running at the players and everyone else will do the work for him.
27Yeah. I'm all right with that. Yeah. I might just be fucking trattin' complete bollocks. I don't know. I don't think so. I think it's, I'm hesitant for the same reasons as exactly what you just said. That's why I kind of like, oh, I've always been a bit like that with him, but at the same time, I think where Spurs have gone, despite the money that's been spent, we've been very safe in our recruitment in terms of like Van Hecker is a plug-and-play De Zerbi player. Tonali and Fernandes are pretty much the exact profiles that De Zerbi wants to have in his kind of midfield. Someone that can be that engine, someone that can be the sort of, you know, the one that's progressive out from the back in Fernandes.
06And they can both do bits of that. There is risk, as you said earlier, but they're all more guaranteed hits because of how much they've played in the Premier League, etc you can maybe afford to be a bit more risky in that forward line with someone like he liao if you choose to just kind of look at his output over the years which has been incredibly strong and maybe you know the the buy-in and stuff like that like maybe he isn't just maybe just isn't that kind of player that will press and will get involved but like you said ricky i think he's wanted to leave milan for a while and i think he's probably been quite disillusioned with the project there he's their star man but there's no real money in it they can't really build around him This does happen with players at the top level where they're just like, I don't really see if...
47Look at Newcastle. It's kind of the same thing. You don't see a way forward and he's wanted to go. So you can get that buy-in then from going to a club that is moving in the right direction under a manager that is building something really exciting with the rest of the team and the squad. And that excitement and the chance of a new project where you are kind of the star man. And this is the thing. It's like, I quite like Savinho still. I do still quite like Savinho as an option. Choose one. I would probably lean towards Liao still because I do think we still are lacking a player that everyone would want to have on the back of their shirts and that star man and that kind of wow factor.
28Because if you look at his numbers over the season, they played under Allegri last year. Allegri is a much more negative kind of style coach. You see the style of football in Italy is not as progressive as what maybe you see in other leagues or whatever. But Allegri is a negative manager. Still got 10 goals, three assists, 31 games. The last five seasons before that, 12 goals, 11 assists, 15 goals, 12 assists, 16, 11, 14, 10. His output has been really strong. He knows where the back of the net is. You saw it for Portugal against, did you watch the Portugal-Croatia game? Yeah. Where he started?
58Him and, I know Mendes is the best fullback in the world, but the way they were dovetailing them to Liao had his man on toast, the cross he put in for, who got the winner, I think it was Ramos. All of the raw fundamentals are like, they're there with him. it is just that last question mark of the can you get the buy-in and maybe the Zerbi is the right kind of manager to do it I'd be happy I'd be cautious but I'd be happy to take the risk Can I just stop you Ricky stop looking at your phone just a second just stop looking at your phone look at me he's got the you're lying again you're lying Ben he's lying he didn't watch the Portugal-Croatia game of course he didn't he doesn't even know the score what no I don't remember the score it's so many games 2-1 on it yeah yeah but don't nod along like be honest with us we're friends here mate it was on but I wasn't like glued to it I was looking at my phone like I do it every game what was the score?
50don't know what was the score? 2-1 I watched the game yeah I literally just saw you looking down at your phone you little cun literally because I thought you were messaging me to say you didn't watch it no no no you didn't watch it but you were looking look at you sorry Portugal We've got 15 shots, three on target, 16 % possession, 542 passes. He's sick. 92 % pass accuracy. Well, of course I've watched here. I was going to say, as Amarim, is he the new AC Milan manager? Yeah. Yeah, no one who wants to leave. Yeah, exactly. Amarim gave the green light for Mateus Fernandes to leave and that matters for Landis.
33And that was like, people are looking at time going, do not let this kid leave. Amarim's a dozen feature in my plans. yes so we haven't actually answered a single question this is supposed to be a Q &A podcast so we're actually going to stop now for 44 minutes and just do a separate Q &A pod so that's two pods for you double revenue for us okay double bubble
