In short
Tottenham Hotspur transfer/recruitment talk and squad planning, plus Q&A questions and banter.
Guests
Cal (co-host; discusses squad size, youth sales, and injury returns) and Flav (co-host; drives much of the Spurs/football discussion and jokes).
Key claims
Tottenham should sell/loan youngsters rather than hoard them, and profit from deals matters (e.g., Ashley Phillips to Middlesbrough: £7m up front + £13m add-ons). Dejan Kulusevski’s patellar injury return is expected after a cautious rehab (“kid gloves”), with a possible return after the next international break; medical science has improved versus older recovery methods. Tottenham’s recruitment under Joël Lange is defended: he’s credited with finding young talent and bringing in players like Archie Gray, and the episode argues he’s unfairly blamed. Gakpo is discussed as “good but not sexy,” and the hosts debate what role he’d fit.
Notable examples
Sopranos “mama’s little tramp” references; Kulusevski rehab comparisons to Ronaldo; Kulusevski/Kudus returning to training; North London Derby expectations (win at home, especially vs Arsenal); “Big Six” longevity argument (top six/Europe 18 of 22 seasons).

It's the fighting Cock It's the fighting It's the fighting Cock Romeo is bleeding But I can't see his blood See I've always been a fighter But without you I give up Do you like a bit of Bon Jovi? Yeah, I like that's alright That's an alright song, isn't it? Yeah. It's harmless. Yeah, it's harmless, harmless fun. Apparently managed by the mob. Is it? Yeah. The, you know, the mob. Cosa Nostra. I don't know what that means. Our Thing. Sicilian expression, Our Thing. Our Thing. That's pretty cool. Yeah. There was a rap group called Cosa Nostra. Yes.
1:21Something like that. Yes. That was... Who was in that? It was... Who was in that? DJ Premier was a part of it, I think. Maybe. Who's doing it? No, there's White Rappers. Shit. Not good podcasting. I'll find out. Sorry. La Coca Nostra, I think. It's quite a good, lovely branding. Anyway, yeah. Your mama's little hooah. Mama's a little tramp. Mama's little hooah. Your mama's a little tramp. Your mama's a little hooah. Those who watch Sopranos might understand. Everyone else is going to be confused. Yeah. Our WhatsApp group is a slew of Sopranos references. I can't remember the scene. Is she fingering?
2:06She's doing him with a dildo. She's doing him with a dildo. Yeah. Mama's a little tramp. Mama's a little hoo-er. And that's her. She's treating him like a little hoo-er. That's what he's into. Yeah. He likes to be degraded. Often powerful men like that. they like to be degraded, apparently. Anyway, it's the Fight and Cock Q &A podcast. Good start. Your mum was a little chair. Your mum was a little... Janice has got something about... I don't know what it is. There's something about her. I watched Sleepers the other day and she was in that. She had a cameo in that. That's not... I don't think that's a film that you should watch.
2:53If someone says, oh, let's watch a film. Oh, Sleepers is good. it's on netflix at the moment right when you watch it and you realize the actual you know the content of what the plot is pretty dark probably not you know not sit down after a nice meal kind of anyway um this is the q a thursday i'm joined today by uh cal how are you doing cal yeah good yeah selling off youngsters willy-nilly do you like that love it yeah no yeah it's you know we can't just keep hoarding players like you know and we've no Europe this season you know we need a smaller we can't have this huge squad and keep all the youngsters around Ashley Phillips looks like a decent prospect but there's no you know if Middlesbrough are the club that you know they're the best club and the best option for him I think that says it all about him that says that really he's not ready to play in the Premier League yet and Middlesbrough is a perfect move for him because he's played in the championship he's done really good in the championship and hopefully he can go there and get promoted and prove himself in the Premier League and we get paid all the money for it.
3:5620 million with add-ons. From Borough? Borough is 7 million up front and then 13 in add-ons. Lancashire? No. Phillips? Just like for Ashley Phillips. I didn't know that. I just saw 7 million and that's the, I didn't stop. I didn't. You was okay with that, right? You was okay with 7. Yeah, absolutely. That's 20. Well, I mean, if he, if he, that makes complete sense, right? Because if Phillips and Lancashire get Borough up and they're making a massive play, Borough, they've got lots of money from the Hackney sale. So it makes sense. I think those are two really good signings for him. I know that Phillips is well regarded as one of the best defenders in the championship last year.
4:40And Lancashire and a really sort of average, below average team in Oxford City, Oxford United, you know, they loved him there. so that makes makes complete sense that both of those will perform and do enough to I would have thought with everything else to get Borough promoted and if that happens they are worth more money almost instantly yeah so I mean that would be a combined 40 because actually it was 10 plus 10 right and there's this new phrase of way people talk about structured deals 10 plus 10 oh it's 10 plus 4 it's like when the fuck did that become a thing anyway um yeah you've suddenly got two players that are worth that because they've promoted a team.
5:20I mean, that is being Lancashire and David Nugent, for example, who wasn't quite good enough for the Premier League. I don't know if that will happen with Lancashire. It wasn't quite good enough for the Premier League, but was good for getting you out of the championship. David Nugent cleaned up, didn't he? Every single time he cleaned up in the championship. So, yeah, makes sense. I'm happy with that. That could be a£40 million income from all of them. Yeah, with Lancashire, there was a romantic, part of me was like you wanted him to be another harry kane and homegrown and topnam and all of that and he could go and be but no one's it also started arsenal as well yeah so there's that there's that um similarity as well and that's the thing right if if if if we'd have kept him around this season and he puts a couple over the bar he suddenly becomes that fucking goona wank shit doesn't so it's best for him to go now he's not it was never gonna work was it it wasn't we're not in a situation where we can develop him anymore i don't think for all the reasons we've discussed on all other things you know right now it's about being in the team that's good enough to qualify for the champion league i'd imagine yeah um and there wouldn't be room for langshir in that and you know maybe from what i've seen thus far maybe he never would have been that um and the comparisons were harry kane would never go away but he's never i mean if he has a career, you know, 10 % as good as Harry Kane's.
6:44He's done well. Amazing, yeah. Yeah, so that's Phillips got out the door and Lancashire and was there another one? I think there was another one. Not a good moment. No, no, fair enough. But we sold... No, it doesn't matter. Yeah, look, it's all profit. All profit. Yeah, lovely. Lovely, lovely profit. Kalisovsky? Yeah? Yeah. See him playing football. amazing whipping balls in yeah I think a lot of us feared the worst for him didn't we a lot of us you know a year out broken patella you know there was those clips of a couple of months ago when he was in Sweden and he was half limping or whatever but he's back in training I think you've got to treat him with kid gloves like 20 minutes here for the reserves 20 minutes there like no rush with him like I don't want to see him near the first team in terms of a Premier League game for a few months at least, like kid gloves with him because, yeah, he's been out for a long time.
7:46Yeah. I mean, I think I've said this on the air before, but it's like seven to eight weeks from this point when he enters full training. I think it was that. It might have been a little bit less. Maybe it was five to six weeks. But that patellar injury that kept him out for, what do you mean, 14 months, it can be that type of injury that he had anywhere between 11 and 14 months. So his actual return date makes sense. And to get him match fit from this point, he said about five, between five and eight weeks. So yeah, come the, after the next international break, which is three weeks long, by the way, he could, he could be back in.
8:26That's insane. It's insane. It's insane. And you know, Ronaldo recovered from his patellar injury and went on to do amazing things. So why can't Kulosevsky? It suddenly gives you an option. If he is available and he is going to be able to play this season, then we do have options on that right-hand side. And the fact that both those players return in Kudus in training as well, that's how right-hand side's sorted, really. When R9 did it, when was that? The late 90s? Medical science has moved on miles in the last 25 years. Back then, they were rubbing crispy pancakes on your knee and sending you back out again.
8:59Now, there's a lot more to it now. They've got actual medicine and stuff. So, yeah. Yeah, I'm really pleased for him. But again, kid gloves with him. I take your time, you know. And it's, we, you know, there's a lot of talk about transfers and the attacking areas. And it's still definitely, definitely a big issue. But having Kudus and Kulicevsky, if we can have them back this season to play a part in the season, it'd be amazing. I think Kudus, by all accounts, is going to be ready for the start of the season. Whereas Kulicevsky, like you say, you just have to take your time. Alistair Goals said this, great to see Dejan Kulicevsky doing ball work as a part of his rehab.
9:36it's worth noting the swede is not yet back in training with the team and will be phased back in slowly when he's ready he's been out for 15 months so his return will be a while off yet as they make sure he's ready which is what you said basically nice all right um it is the q a podcast lovely uh which we we return to the lovely land of reddit and uh our coys so if you want to go now subscribe to the reddit and enjoy lots and lots and lots of it's basically where i go to get all of the decent news so good lads over there um cody gackpo before we get into it how do you feel about that yeah i think i feel like everybody else it feels like i guess with the start of the window you know getting tonali and getting fernandez and for big money and then we look at the attacking areas and it's like you i think spending so much money the way we did earlier in the window perhaps gave us the delusions of grandeur really i think us to spend to spend equivalent amounts on attacking players those players aren't for sale i think and so you are you do end up with savinho and and gacpo uh and vlahovic um like gacpo's a good player like he's a good player they don't want to sell him but it does i don't know it just doesn't feel that sexy but i take him i would take him he's a good player yeah i think uh we're running out of options aren't we really and i think the thing with gap po is what is he i think that's where a lot of people he's a he play can play on the left but he's not particularly he's not rapid he's not a nine liverpool fans will tell you he's not a nine we could do with a 10 but he's not that like what is he he's one of those kind of players yeah i think it depends on i'm i said this last last episode when i was talking to john but it was like just like whatever does i'm interested more less than what my opinion is and how i rate these players and much more on what does erby sees in them that's going to work for this system it's less about individuals obviously players need to be of a sufficient level in order to compete and and and do what deserve he asked him to do but it is quite systematic and they if he sees it then there must be a reason and that means more to me than the opinion of well my own opinion really just blindly follow whatever he says until it doesn't work and then call him a cunt yeah that's it that's that's the cycle of top of you know you think about a year ago um whatever frank wants we beat city away we beat city away whatever he wants if he wants to play whatever this is fucking great and fast forward a year you know he's dead to us yeah that's football man but yeah deserved 11 points from 7 games he or whatever it was he earned the right he kept us in the division he's earned the right to build the club in his image and he's a top coach he's a top coach in his own right even before what he did to keep us in the league he was already a top coach of a good reputation yeah give him give him what he wants so So I'm doing a podcast later.
12:46I came up with this idea, and I don't think it's going to be popular. But are we giving Lange too much stick? Because, and the reason why I say this is, he's not getting any credit for any of these signings. And there's no chance that he isn't a part on across all of these things as a sporting director. I think there's this idea about Joanne Lange, that they've just put him in this room and he's just doing whatever he wants, but as long as he's nowhere near the football. That's just not the case. so it's just interesting that we know about the restrictions that the sporting directors were under Daniel Levy and the kind of work they had to do and the kind of player they had to attract young players, big uptight long career, massive sell on value if you can get them if that's what he's been asked to do less what we think of him then he did a relatively good job didn't he?
13:37bringing him Baraval, Kinski and Archie Gray These are players that are worth a lot more than we bought them. So that was what I just want to get into a little bit and did it with Dan Kirkpatrick. And obviously now we're signing loads of players. Well, we have been signing loads of players for lots of money and he doesn't get any credit. No, he's the problem. I don't know. We're going to go through that. Do you still want him out? I think perhaps if he was to play devil's advocate with him, I guess what you could say is that he was overpromoted and he was overexposed and it's put him in a position that he's just not qualified to do.
14:20So he perhaps has a role as being almost like a chief scout kind of thing that's in charge of all these people that scout players and pluck people out to give options to a director of football or to give options to a coach. but he was he was as the he's been the guy in charge of recruitment put in front of cameras put on you know on Tottenham's YouTube and all of that and he's just not qualified to do that he's not qualified to be the guy he's qualified to work for the guy but you could argue um but he's not he should not be the main technical director director of football of a club of our size not at all he could work for that person but I don't think I think that's perhaps if he was to stick up for him.
15:04And again, I'm just playing devil's advocate here. If he was to make a case for him, I think that's the case you would make is that he was just over promoted. You know, he should have been working for Paratici, not on the same, that sort of thing. Or another director of football. Or another director of football, someone more qualified than him. Yeah. I think because people do what, I mean, people will, one thing you can give them credit for is finding young talent that's capable of playing Premier League football, which is not the easiest thing to do in the world, especially if you're bringing them from the Czech League and from the Swedish League.
15:34You know, that jump is massive. And no doubt it's taken Kinski a while to get in there, but we're all comfortable with him being number one. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, yes. Yeah. All right. So let's do some questions.
15:50IcyLandscape4151 says, can we have more episodes with different songs ending the pod? The pull me out of this episode lives rent-free in my head. Flav's just singing, pull me out of this on loop. Pull me out of this. I know that even I know that unfortunately me and Cal it's good that you're on this podcast I don't think we can do anything like that actually because um we both both our podcasts have been copyright struck this week and I'm sure at some point if Fred again ever wants to um you know make sure that he's his music isn't being used in an unlicensed fashion the irony here is one of his good friends, Tony, is a big Spurs fan and loves it and listens to the pod and has been listening to it for a long, long time.
16:38He'll be listening to this. And so, I'm going to, I'm just going to ask Tony, if you could ask Fred again, or Fred, to definitely not, you know, put us any, don't put any copyright strikes on us. Yeah. Because that was about helping. That was about getting Spurs fans through a terrible situation. And you know that, Tony. So, have a word with him because I don't want to get struck. But yeah, your one did as well. I think what it is, what song did you get done for? Roll Out by Ludacris. Right. And I got Outrageous by Ludacris. So something's happening in the Ludacris camp that we're not aware of.
17:15You're listening to the new kitchen, didn't you? So what happens is Spotify comes to you and says, have you used copyrighted music in this episode? This episode is brought to you by Google Chrome. You think you know a browser, but Gemini and Chrome? That's new. It can help you with practically anything on the web, like restoring a vintage motorcycle from a 50-page restoration block, or finally break down that long article you've had open for weeks. 17:50Hey, it's Ryan Reynolds here for Mint Mobile. Now, I was looking for fun ways to tell you that Mint's offer of unlimited premium wireless for$15 a month is back. So I thought it would be fun if we made$15 bills. But it turns out that's very illegal. So there goes my big idea for the commercial. Give it a try at mintmobile.com slash switch. Upfront payment of$45 for three months, $90 for six months or$180 for 12 month plan required. $15 per month equivalent. Taxes and fees extra. Initial plan term only greater than 50 gigabytes may slow when network is busy. See terms. We never use music. Very rarely.
18:22You never use music below the belt, do you? so they must be talking about the jingle now i listen to outrageous and the g the beat does sound very similar i've got to be honest right so the intro of the jingle of the lab the beat sounds like the ludicrous song but that's it and so does yours doesn't it yeah yeah i do you know when you play the below the belt jingle you can hear yeah when there's a similarity i wouldn't say it's not obvious but i thought oh maybe maybe yeah so i asked alex who made those jingles and he got them from a library like a loop library which is copyright free okay so even ludicrous has done that as well for his beats and then it's copyrighted it that's where we're at so i've asked them to check again and when you listen to it's just different songs the same maybe it's a similar loop drum loop but that's it anyway so now the answer to your questions i see is no i don't think i'll ever be doing that again no it's a shame uh extra photo 3822 says does flab ever feel like marco bielsa the innovator who gave birth to a host of younger upstarts now left to become an ever increasingly angry and sad old man all the while they're passing his mom around like a spliff.
19:46That's good. That's good. If someone left a spliff as wet as they left Flav's mum, you'd be fucking fuming. That's good. Very good. Apparently, Flav once drove to 13-year-old Windy's house at 1am. He entered his bedroom whilst he slept, pulled back the covers and beat his chest whilst saying, this boy has the lungs of a podcaster. Nice. It's Biorza and Pochettino, isn't it? nice yeah I don't know what to say to that that is gold though you talk about it all the time about you know all the branches if you like it's like I'm not saying me but the fighting cock yeah for sure like name me a podcast I haven't influenced absolutely yeah absolutely who says that in the rap game it's Nas it's Nas I think it's in IFA I think it's in IFA which is yeah probably the top two greatest disc records ever made ever rap disc records ever made either that's against jay-z yeah yeah yeah um can we get some spurs ones in here boys because this they're all about my mum and me and like i get it's funny but like there are people listening to this podcast that just want to hear spurs chat you'd be fuming if you left the spliff as wet as my mum's my mum and you're fucking fuming that was pretty good.
21:13That was a bar. Yeah. Someone left a spliff as well as they left Flav's mum. You'd be fucking fuming. There's nothing worse than that. And I was getting on rotation receiving a fucking spliff. Yeah. It's nasty.
21:29I'll come back to the more personal ones. I'm trying to find some Spurs stuff. So Publix in Illuminati says it's 2028 Champions League final Tottenham versus Arsenal won all. Spurs are attacking down the right flank in the dying moments. Kulisevsky stops the ball short of the touchline and drops it back to Porro, delivers an inch-perfect ball bending around the back of Arsenal's defence right into the top of the six-yard box. A striker is darting through, unmarked. Which of these past Spurs nines are you pitting in this situation? Soldado, Villez or Jansen? Oh, that's awful. Great question. It's a great question.
22:12I thought it was going to be Richie or Solanke. I thought that's what the question was going to be. What is the answer to that? Richie, all day. Really? I think Richie's better than Solanke. Do you? Yeah, I do. I mean, I was on Jack's podcast, Royal Reboost, and he asked me to, or there was a question being sent in to list six strikers in order of preference. It was Adibajor, it was Llorente, it was Richarlison, Solanke. Jansen and one other, I think it was. And I put Richarlison ahead of Solan. Yeah. I saw that list and yours was, I thought it was perfect. Adi Bayou wasn't it number one. It was right.
22:51Yeah, I think it was perfect the order that you put it in. Yeah. In this instance, I'm only going through who had the great equality during their career and Soldado was once an extremely lethal striker. Yeah. Just rubbish at Tottenham. Yeah. So it's got to be Soldado but with no greater, you know. Yeah, it probably is him. Jansen was just a big lump when he didn't really offer anything really. A couple of penalties. I don't even remember him scoring from open play. Might have scored against Millwall, but I think that was a penalty. Yeah, it's probably Soldado, isn't it? Yeah. I'm not sure I could cope with a Champions League final between Tottenham and Arsenal.
23:36Do you know, I'm actually like quietly looking forward to the North London derby now. I'm full of confidence going into this new season. I know I've been here before and no doubt will be here again. And perhaps it's completely unjustified. And maybe I'm getting carried away by that midfielder Fernandes and Tonali. And I know there's still work to be done, but I just, I listened to Deserby, what he's saying. Like the other day he was talking, someone posted an old interview that he did. You know what I'm going to say, don't you, Kyle? And he's saying, you know, why he plays out from the back, like why it's important.
24:06and he said because playing long becomes a gamble. Yes. You have to win the second ball and it's a gamble. You can't, I'm paraphrasing here, I don't know exactly how he said it, but you can't always anticipate where the ball's going to drop. And winning a second ball can often be about how fortunate that ball drops to you, what angle it's coming, how fast it's coming. There's a challenge. There's no way of telling what way that ball's going to be unless you've got like a Dan Byrne and you can kind of gamble that he's going to be able to head the ball and win that aerial duel. He said it's a gamble if you do that, and he doesn't like betting.
24:42He says he wants to control it from the back where you're in control and you're not having to gamble on what the opponent might do or what might happen to the football. He says, I want the players to receive the ball at their feet rather than the ball at their teeth. I was like, I love this guy. Yeah, man. I loved Posta Coglu as well for much longer than I probably should have and that was a lot about how he spoke but yeah Zerbi he's the one mate similar similar vibes to be fair similar kind of coaches similar philosophies I just think that Zerbi's you know a better coach a little bit more proven in you know top leagues than Ange was at the time when Ange took over he'd only really you know other than Scotland this is his biggest job though isn't it this is like without question in his career this is his biggest job whereas Postacoglu's trajectory to Tottenham was so unconventional like you've never really seen anything like that no like being a good manager at Celtic doesn't get you the Tottenham job typically no no but I actually think those are the best types of coaches for us I think they're coaches that are really well thought of attacking football but they haven't quite done it yet and so they don't think they're too good for us i.e.
25:59like a Conte or a Jose or whatever. Those coaches felt we were a bit beneath them, I think, and didn't want to gut it out a bit in terms of not being the richest club because Jose and Conte, they are their money coaches, aren't they? They buy established players for loads of money. Conte is only good in the season where there's no Europe. Once there's Europe involved, he goes to bits and he quits. Yeah, guys like De Zerbi, Pochettino and Ange to an extent, They are the types of coaches that are best suited, I think, to Spurs. And I think going into the back end of last season, he's got so much credit in the bank now.
26:36And coming from, you know, Tudor and Frank, he's the complete opposite of those two. Yeah, he's a great fit. We spent so much time, you know, watching a Spurs team underperform, especially at home. You've had season ticket holders have seen like, what was it? five wins in two years like insane so the bar is the expectations there and especially because you spent this money we spent this money the expectation is there but the reality is he doesn't have to do much to be much better do you know this is what we're used to we're not used to being good and effective in at home and yeah i just think i'm excited i'm excited are you excited i don't know no i am i am excited i do think we need attackers i think it's a it's a big know that as well.
27:24Yeah, and they're going to do it. I have absolute faith that we're going to buy a couple at least. But I think you're right when you talk about the North London Derby. I said this a couple of times, but absolute basics for a new coach, and especially this season, win at home and win your home derbies. If he does that, everything else is kind of secondary, really, whether we finish fourth or we finish eighth. Win home games so the people that go every two weeks are seeing good football and seeing us win and win the derbies because particularly Arsenal, they've just been taking six points off of us every season at a canter for the last few seasons and it has to stop.
28:00We can't do this anymore. We've got to stop beating that lot. Even if they win the league again or whatever, we have to fucking beat them. Beat them at home. I think you've got a long way. You know, a win against Arsenal at home, you know, we don't have to worry about West Ham. That's a major thing as well, right? Because West Ham, I know, you know, they weren't very good last year, but they beat us all the time. And not having that tie to worry about, that's almost like six, because it's a London derby and they hate us and Chelsea hate us and Arsenal hate us. They up their game against Tottenham.
28:35So that's six points we don't have to contend to or in the way that we would typically have to. That's a big thing. Did you see that clip that went viral with the lad who said he's the biggest team in London? What a loser. I mean, the whole thing, the way he delivered it, he said so the bloke came up to him if you haven't seen it it's on my Twitter I'll get a look he said who's the biggest team in London and the bloke and he went it's Tottenham and the bloke started laughing he goes let me explain he says who's Arsenal's biggest rival Tottenham who do Chelsea want to beat most Tottenham who do West Ham want to beat most Tottenham there you go biggest team in London in their heads we're in your head in your head you're going to get copyrighted now oh shit Do you think my singing's that good, is it?
29:22Banger of a treat, Nick. Yeah. Yeah. So that was just class, wasn't it? That was good. And he just bopped off after, just walked off like... Shook his hand up the Spurs. Yeah, shook his hand, crispy little dap and then just walked off again. Like, love that. Very cool. And he just... And, you know, fucking talk sport can't stop talking to Aston Villa and Newcastle fans about Tottenham. Mate, I've got something. Yeah, go on. I've got something to play you. Just... Because I wouldn't have clicked that. I forgot. Listen to this. No idea what Spurs have done other than being in London to get in the Big Six?
29:50Right, well, PD from Devon has got something for you. He's texting, and this is exactly why Spurs should be in the Big Six. When you're saying, what have they done? This is what he said. Of course, Tottenham are still in the Big Six because it's based on longevity. Spurs have finished in the top six for 18 of the last 22 seasons with 13 consecutive seasons in Europe. Also, back in 1991, they were also part of the Big Five after winning the FA Cup for then record eighth time and breaking the British transfer record sign, Gaza. It's not who finished above who last season. If it was, didn't Brighton finish above Man United two seasons in a row.
30:27It's about being a big club in every decade, which Villa, Forest, Newcastle, et cetera, haven't been. That's PD and Devon. Has he made some good points there? In fact, it's probably the best argument I've heard. Yeah, no tribalism there. He's just put down the facts of what, when you said, what have they done to be in it? he's saying what they've done is be in the top six for 18 out of the last 22 seasons yeah I think you heard me I think it was recording my mic at the same time so you could sort of hear me breathing during that but that's it spot on mate this whole obsession about big six is like I don't care about it but Villa fans especially do seem to care about it yeah because they're on a good run they've finished top four they've been in Champions League a couple of times they've won Europa League fair play to them They're having a run and that's cool, but they don't move the needle like Tottenham.
31:19And let's have it right. The thing about this big six thing, this big six thing exists because Tottenham kept finishing above Man United and they needed a reason to keep Man United in the big six. Because we kept finishing above them. We kept beating them all the time when they were off the post-Ferguson era. And so it wasn't about, back in the day, it was the big four. It was Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. And then Tottenham came along and kept finishing fifth. And like the guy described, keep getting in Europe, keep getting in Europe, getting in the Champions League. Man United lose Fergie.
31:52And we start finishing above Liverpool all the time. There was a period under Pochettino. There was six seasons or something. I think it was before that even. Yeah. We were finishing above Liverpool. We were finishing above Arsenal. We were finishing above Arsenal seven years in a row, was it? Seven, eight years in a row. And we finished above Man United all the time. So it's not actually about Tottenham. it's about the fact that well we've got to keep Man United and we've got to keep the red clubs part of the conversation but Tottenham keep finishing above them so it's a big six now and really it's not a conversation like it used to be before because it's not really about sporting merit even if it is about sporting merit all of the things that that guy in that clip mentioned are relevant you know Brighton finishing above Manchester United twice in a row does not make them a bigger club than Manchester United it just isn't the case and I don't know if you heard But in that, he said, the point is you've got to be a big club in every decade.

32:43And that's what Spurs have been. In the 90s, you could argue, was our weakest. But we won an FA Cup and another League Cup in that. You know, so now it's about revenue. It's about eyes, unfortunately. It's just the way the game's gone. And the Premier League do not really, and I agree with this, I don't think that there is some sort of conspiracy to keep the big six what it is. But the Premier League have a vested interest in those big six clubs not getting relegated. They're handing money over to the Football League. They'd have to do that anyway. But you're just... If Spurs went down, it would be the most watched championship season in history, probably.
33:27Same as any of the other big clubs if they went down. It just is the way it is. I remember you saying, was it the Financial Times and some other journalists were basically saying all the Financial Times wanted to talk about, they didn't care about the league or that Arsenal were going to win. All that everyone was talking about was, are Tottenham going to go down? Yeah, I was interviewed for the Financial Times and it was talking, I mean, I can't remember. I think they just wanted like a fan's perspective of what was going on. They broke down the finances. 100%. On the final day of the season, Arsenal were winning the league.
33:57No one cared. I don't think a single person outside of the supporters of that club watched them lift that trophy. Everyone was watching Spurs and Everton. I think it was the least viewed trophy lift in a long time. Yeah. In a long time. I think Liverpool's was like four or five times bigger than theirs. You're right. Everybody was watching Tottenham to see if Tottenham would stay up. That other weird subreddit, the other 14, the other 14 clubs that wanted us to go down. So strange. It's so weird. I quite like the other 14, that subreddit. Really? A bunch of freaks. I find it quite funny sometimes.
34:36yeah um you obviously don't clearly no they wanted us to go down so badly it was all they spoke about and i just thought what a bunch of freaks we're not that's the thing that we that's the thing that always is strange to me we're not your enemy we've grown our club organically we've we've finished like like the guy described we finished finished in the top six getting in europe winning the odd trophy here and there it's all organic we're not we haven't done a chelsea and paid off a load of agents and done all this moody shit or city with the 115 charges but yet we're the enemy and you know what spooky said something after the everton game and it's actually really true um everybody everybody thinks we're we're their rival everybody does leicester think we're their rival south hampton think they're their rival everybody thinks they're on our level but they're not and then you've got arsenal that think they're above us but they're not but everybody but that's really below us in reality actually thinks they're on our level we're obtainable i guess and i guess that's why everybody hates us yeah and the thing is is like they're frustrated now it's a frustration that i look at spurs spending but it we didn't we've done 20 years of building to get to this point we've had to sell our soul to some degree to get to this point we've had to watch people call us cheese room fc and you know give us grief for having beyonce concerts you're not laughing now not laughing now now that we can do what we're doing i get it like i don't like it i don't like that this is the way that it's had to become that we have to be as much as an entertainment exercise or entertainment business as much as a football business but i'll tell you what it's a lot more palatable now if we can spend 100 million pounds on tonali than under daniel levy where we could spend you know it wasn't about that it was merely about being a great business so yeah you know and And after the Europa League final, Man United finished 15th.
36:34They had no Europe. They were close to, you know, they weren't really close to being relegated, but they were down there. And they did what your club of that side, they did what you would expect a club of that side to do, which is throw 200 million plus at their forward line and get in the Champions League spaces. We're doing exactly the same thing. No one patted an eyelid as well. Everyone was celebrating. What a great window. Yeah. When it spurs it does, it just does things to people. I know it's Liverpool. That's fine. Liverpool can do it. We don't want Tottenham doing it. Fucking, well, tough.
37:00We are doing it. What are you doing? Yeah. You should have relegated us. Yeah. You should have relegated us, yeah. It's over for you now. It's over. We're coming for your neck. Yeah, yeah. But Nipple Cunt says, Nipple Cunt? Nipple Cunt? I'm using Salie on holiday, which has saved me a considerable amount of data charges currently in Spain on the holes. My question is, would Ricky let a member of the Man City board stick a whole calippo up his arse for a green-white and a Sevilla deal? Now, normally I would use that as an opportunity to go into a Saley read, but I'm not going to do that because we're not sponsored by Saley today.
37:37We've got a different sponsor. Have we? And the only reason I'm saying this is the second part of the question relates directly to the kind of sponsor we have. Nice. A bit about Ricky shoving things up his arse. Nice. Today, we are gratefully and excited to be sponsored by Flashkind. Oh, what do they do? Well, do you know in Europe where they actually take hygiene seriously rather than us disgusting pigs who just literally wipe our arses? You know, we wipe our arses with paper and we think, that's okay. That's enough. Like we've got all of the shit. You haven't. It's all over your bum. Do you know what I'm saying?
38:19In Spain, where nipple cunts are not only, there's bidets everywhere. You wash your arse in a bidet. Perfect. whereas in england fucking pigs we have to wipe our ass with a tissue and go that's enough i'm done is that what you do that's what you do no what so i mean if it's a different brand don't say it no but if you had flush kind at home what you do is you spray a bit on it's a bit like a a wet wipe okay yeah but you spray it onto the the normal towel the the the tissue and you wipe your ass and you're all nice and clean. Lovely. Yeah. Lovely. And the problem with wet wipes, aren't they, is because they create fatbergs under.
39:03Have you ever heard of fatbergs? No. It's like all the wet wipes and shit and it all creates these massive build-ups. Oh, and they all stick together. Yeah, but huge, like massive, massive things. Right. And it's really bad for the environment. So this is created by Spurs fan and listener of the Fighting God podcast, Stuart. He sold his pet care business and got into doing this instead. Nice. He saw a TV program about fat bugs and all the damage caused by people washing their wet wipes and he wondered if there was a better way. He found a few products already on the market but they all seem to contain alcohol which is not something you really want to rub all over your arsehole.
39:42No. No, not alcohol. Do you think it would get you pissed though quicker? Yes. Don't shove the bottle of flush kind up your arse and square it. It wouldn't work because it's alcohol-free. So you can if you like. That's a shame. So yeah, keep your ass clean. Keep everybody's ass clean in their house. Yeah. And buy a bottle of Flushkind right now. Head over to Flushkind. The link is in the description below. And use the code FIGHTING10. Get 10 % off at discount. Your bum and your drains will thank you. Nice. Yeah. Nice. If you're using wet wipes, how much you're going to have to pay if you get Dinerod out if it clogs up your fucking...
40:24Do you know what I mean? So, yeah. Flushkind. Invest in your arsehole. Good sponsor. Distinct lack of cheating for my liking, really. I like the cheating element. But anyway, it doesn't matter. If you are going to cheat, this might help you. If you're going to cheat, you want a fresh arse. Yeah, that's true. You don't want the sort of residue of your last bowel movement permeating as you cheat on your wife yeah yeah thank you thank you yeah so we're saying if you are happily married don't get it you're fine having a smelly ass right yeah that's fine that's also you know you people you go they go nose blind so they can't smell themselves so you know people that smell really bad obo sometimes you might work with one he they don't know it's not like they're being obnoxious about it they don't they can't often smell it on themselves yes you can't smell you're wearing an ass but everyone else can especially if you're naked in a room with a woman you're cheating on the head of your wife yeah yeah thank you i did see on festhole yesterday someone saying they used coconut oil as lube yeah and they didn't realize how often they did little farts until they used a coconut lube because they kept smelling coconut
41:39brilliant it reminds me of the story of someone very close to me was uh university he was having sex with his missus and um they came back and it was dark come back from nightclub and they're having sex and he's starting i need some lube and he was squirting it all over his dick and then they started having sex and uh he um it was one of those packets that you sort of tear ah and uh yeah he's doing it and then um all of a sudden he could smell this sort of spicy smell in the air yeah and they turn the light on this brown sauce he poured brown sauce all over still work no it's still work yeah why not organic yeah it's organic exactly um uh yeah i'm so yeah flush kind uh the link is in the description

43:05Humble whilst in 2012, all of your dads who would been fighting their prime. Was that hard? He was hard, yeah. He was a rucker. Yeah. Dead now, isn't he? So he's not a new one. He's dead as a post now, yeah. But he was a rucker in his day. Was he? Yeah. Did a bit of time. Did he? Yeah. You don't have to mention any more than that. What for, though? Not nonsense. Robin. Robin? Yeah. What, like? I don't know. I never got the full details. Yeah, then it's your dad. It's your dad is the hardest man. yeah I don't know yeah I don't know I don't know how hard everybody else's dad is Cal I think you're quietly the hardest member of the fighting cock I think quietly yeah I don't know I don't know like John's massive and he probably would win yeah but we'll have a good row I think you're game yeah we'll have it for a while there's something about you Cal I'm not I don't feel like I am I'm really good at I'm in my work life and just in the world I'm really good at pretending I'm hard but I rarely have to prove it so yeah well we did the fighting cock social there was one geezer trying to get in weren't they an Arsenal fan and he was like yeah he was going to go yeah he nearly had to go yeah he was going to go listen to this pile of nonsense Keeps spinning plates says can you get Alex from Bristol back on please he's my favourite of your mob and he pretty much always spot on with his takes as a good alternative point of view do you mean a contrarian point of view that you always go the opposite side is that what you mean?
44:43Alternative POV to the rest of your sicko fans if we were saying something else he would say the same view as ours wouldn't he, Kyle? Yes I like this, I am going to send it to him John Bass was right about Spence but not a lot else and I can't stop thinking about his mum's tits as you two talk about them every week
45:04I would say John I think John gets quite a lot right I think I agree with a lot with what he says so and she does have a pair of weapons of mass seduction doesn't she so you're gonna you know you're gonna talk about yeah I think all the mum stuff has got to stop a little bit because like every question every question is about it's coming in is about my mum, right? And she's like, you know, an elderly lady. It's like, so weird. Immortal Wombat says, how many back shots would you take if Spurs were given one only point per shot for the 2027 season? I'd imagine like a head start, isn't it, in a way?
45:49Yeah. That's the way you've got to view it. It's like 100, wasn't it? 100 points. 100 points. 100 back shots, though. Mama's little hur. Yeah, Mama's little tramp. Mama's little tramp. Mama's little hur. Yeah, right. How many backshots from Janice? To be honest, when I looked at her, I was like, all right, maybe I could get into that. You could get into it, yeah. I don't know what it is. I don't know why. She just looks like she's open, isn't she? She's just open to them. Filthy. Yeah. Yeah, she's pegging him before pegging was fashionable. And then Richie held a gun to her head while they had sex.
46:22Yeah. So she's open-minded, you know. That's what it is about her. The fact she was actually having sex with Richie is alarming. like he's got to be one of the most repulsive characters in the whole thing yeah he looks like a rat yeah he's horrible yeah he's horrible bless him yeah it should be you
46:42yeah that's it you should be boss it should be you that's it her brother's Tony Soprano go watch it buddy if you haven't watched it already can we get a part of your brothers or your dad I know everyone else is asking your dad but it isn't possible let's get every single one of your brothers and hear how mental you all got together and also about how mental you got in games the general games i don't think my brothers would want to to be honest this isn't they i don't think they i don't know if they listen it's not i mean they've known i've been doing this since the start it's not in any way that yeah i don't think they'd want to no i think your brothers is your absolute for me is my absolute safe space.
47:28I can be my absolute self the whole time. The drive to Costco and back is dark. It's very dark. So to put that in front of a microphone where you have to police yourself and that's just, yeah, that'd be alien. That'd be alien. You'd edit it out. There'd be about four minutes left. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know. We don't go mental like that. It's not as dark as, I mean, I see glimpses past the curtain, the rudge curtain sometimes. So I can imagine. Ilzy98 says, no question, just want to say you have lovely nipples. All right. I do have quite pronounced nipples. They're not like women's nipples, but they're always sort of erect.
48:09Really? Even if I'm not turned on, yeah. You can always like, look, you probably have to see them now, look. They're awake. Always been like, they're awake. Oh, God. All right, I'm going to do one more about my mum, and then I'm going to try and find another Spurs thing, and then we'll kind of we'll start to wrap this yeah no worries if your wife and your mother switched bodies Freaky Friday style and you had to sleep with one of them to put it right who are you choosing your mum and your wife's body or your wife and your mum's body
48:45wife's body but your mum looking at you but you can sorry mum sorry mum sorry mum sorry mum sorry mum sorry mum it's got to be done if i actually started pegging you mama's little hole yes it would literally be mama's little tramp oh my god that's dark fucking i'm not answering any i don't know that's awful in it one it would it would be my wife's body and then i could just yeah put my hands over the visual the visual is the most important thing i think and blindfold blindfold um so outlaw he says who's your favorite hypothetical player of last season, last few seasons. The ones that were just short of breaking through or kept getting injured or something.
49:32The ones that didn't make it for some reason, but hypothetically, they could have been good. Mine's Perisic or Skip. I think Perisic could have been mint for us without the ACL tear. And Skippy was just fun. Did Perisic have an ACL, I suppose? Yeah, he did, yeah. Because I was always banging on saying there were no ACLs before Ange, but there obviously was. Yeah, he did. I think it was quite early in his might have been his second season yeah he did and then he went to went back to Croatia didn't he managed to recover in like fucking six seven months or something mental and there was a training session yeah yeah it was training yeah yeah Perisic is a good shout actually because he's he's a top player a really good player and even at that you know in a situation like now if he was a few years younger one game a week like yeah Perish is the correct answer it's a good shout it is a good shout see Tom Barkley says I understand Liverpool Tom Barkley is the writer for the sun he's actually I've had him on this podcast a couple of times yeah he's pretty good he is good I understand Liverpool do have some interest in Jed Spence as per this is what I want to talk to you about S said how do we how are we pronouncing this guy's name I don't know it's CZA it's CZA he's like the ITK that sort of broke through it was who was it before?
50:56Paul O 'Keefe it was always O 'Keefe yeah Paul O 'Keefe but this guy seems to have the credibility of a lot of people and now he's being quoted by Tom Barkley fair play as a source which in itself is probably a little bit risky because like you can't guarantee his source unless he has somehow guaranteed that Cesar knows something but there are other clubs are interesting. It seems stronger, but let's see how it is. Develops. Spence's price tag is believed to be about£35 million. Seems increasingly likely it will leave Tottenham this summer. How do you feel about that? That seems really low. That seems like a price.
51:34That seems... For me, it's 50 plus add-ons, I think. Honestly. I think that's really low. In terms of selling him, I don't want to sell him,
51:47but Poro's going to play in front of him at right back. and he's not really played right back for three years. And Andy Robertson or a doggy are going to play, are going to compete with him at least at left back. And he had a great World Cup, but he did not have a great season. Nobody, not hardly anybody had a great season with Tottenham. He did not have a good season with Tottenham last year, I didn't think at all. And there is, defensively, he makes these last ditch tackles, but that's because his positioning is so bad. at times. So I think there's definitely room for improvement with him as a player and you can see why players could be in front of him.
52:29But I wouldn't want to sell him. I'd be gutted if we sold him. And at that price, no chance. For me, I'd be like, that's a mental price. Homegrown, his age, great World Cup. It's 50 in add-ons for me, at least. 50? Yeah. His age. I don't want to sell him either, but like you say, I don't know if he's going to play. He's not even going to play left-back. and Poro doesn't get injured. So you can understand him kind of wanting to move. You could play him further forward, but you'd be kind of looking for players that belong in that position. He's not technically good enough to play more forward. Like in terms of crossing and shooting, he's nowhere near.
53:08He's a guy that uses the inside of his foot and likes to lightly whip balls. He doesn't have that where he can move the ball quickly and he's not a good finisher. He's not, he doesn't, there's no kind of evidence that he could be an attacker at this level, really. I think he's a good left back and a good right back at this level. But no, I can't see that him playing more further forward. He just doesn't have the technique for it, I don't think. Yeah, fair enough. Please love M3 says, do you think this Savinho guy is even worth it? He seems to be our main target, but I don't understand how he proves our starting 11 from providing depth, apart from providing depth.
53:53We don't really have anyone as good as him that takes on, you know, as one-on-one. Maybe Kudus does on the other side, but we need an option off the left, potentially. I think he'd come in and start on the right, though. He played on the right for City, didn't he, the other day? Yeah, he was playing on the right, to be fair, yeah. Yeah, and every time I've seen him, he's been playing on the right. and do both for sure yeah he can definitely do both i think he's i i can absolutely see why he's our number one choice and why the the the scouting network keep going back to him and why we've started there for a year he's quick he's got a trick like he's he's he's that lennon type player yeah that makes you get up off your seat when he gets the ball with a bit of space like i can see absolutely why we keep going back to him and why we're sticking out for him i think the club are right, you can't let this drag out until the end of the window.
54:47I think there has to be a cut off. Probably the first game of the season. I think if he's not signed by the first game of the season, I think you might have to move on. But I can see why he's the number one target. And you've just got to look at the market right now. Who's your alternative? Who are we getting instead? Well, Noosa has been linked. I'd take it. I love him. Yeah. I mean, you saw what Norway, when he was on, what Norway did, what he did to England. we've been linked with him in the past I don't know who I'd it's not much between them I don't think I think it's something about the right and Neusia on the left isn't it because Kulicevski you've just got to let him Kulicevski Kulicevski Kulicevski Kulicevski Kulicevski he's not fit yet or close so you could buy both and they would both start the first game of the season because you'd Kudus isn't ready.
55:43Tell had a good pre-season, but the game against Chelsea encaptured everything about Tell. He'll do something great and then the ball comes to him at the edge of the box. He'll open his body up inside of his right foot and stick it 10 yards over the bar. That's Matisse Tell. And that's why we're looking at other players. You're very harsh sometimes. I just, well, I think this, yeah, no, I'm sorry. felt bad you said that oh my god I felt so bad I suppose what do you want what do you want I suppose I suppose it depends on what you want out of this season I guess isn't it what do you want out of it I just want I'm going to finish eight for another couple of good home wins let's blood yeah I mean I'll take that now yeah I don't want to experience what we all experienced on the last day ever again never again I just I never want to do that again it'd be fucking it's horrible and finally do journos still receive the same so this is from El Binkino do journos still receive the same kind of hatred from firms like in Green Street this day and age I just cannot imagine Ali Gold out and about wanting to lay the head on him after creaming about all the transfer gossip I enjoy absorbing I don't know such a random question I had firms back in the day.
57:16Mashberg 67 says, how long until Ricky starts a spin-off fishing podcast called The Fighting Carp? Well, he has his own... He has his own... What's it called? It's on the Lads and on Patreon, isn't it? Lads and on Patreon, and he goes out fishing. With his dad. Yeah, with his dad, and it's 40 minutes of it. So that's what you want. Sign up to his Patreon now. I want a guest on that. I quite like to go fishing with him, yeah. I love that'd be lovely. Couldn't you fish? No. I'd just sit there in a chair, have a little split. I just, yeah. Well, are you sure? Yeah. It's the last time you was at house.
57:52No, I haven't. No, I haven't. Do you think you might need to rethink that? Yeah, you're right. I'd just have a little sunny day. I'd just have a sunny day. That'd be fine. I hate that when you go, I've been doing the medical cannabis, haven't I? Oh, yeah. I overdosed myself by, I should have taken 10 % of the dose I took. So I read the label wrong. Yeah. I was in a bad way. Yeah, it's not nice. It's not nice. Okay, this is it. Been in the Fightin' Good podcast. There's tons more questions to get through, but we don't have time. I've got one. Can I ask one question? Yeah, yeah, of course. Do you think Beryl Vau stays?
58:29He's been very front and centre on the social media. It's all gone quiet in terms of him being sold. it's more noise about Bentancourt leaving now and Saar leaving do you think Baraval stays?
58:45No I think we no I think we're going to sell him if an offer comes in we will sell him we'll end up going to Brighton I think I spoke to someone who seemed to think it was done weeks ago so unless they're completely wrong I'm just going to go with that yeah fair enough what about you? what do you think? I think he stays. I think he's, I have no knowledge at all, about much at all, really. But, like I said, front and centre social media all over it. And it's, you know, Ben Tankor, Ben Tankor, you know, I think I saw something yesterday, you know, maybe just feels these kind of races run at Tottenham.
59:22Maybe go to Saudi, make some more money or go back to Spain. Is he? Oh, he's still off as a... Yeah, he's... He's only played in the finals. No, hang on. No. He's not back in Van der Grover. Uruguay and Senegal went out before Holland did yet the Dutch players came back and they didn't and that was what everyone's ears perked up because Van Hecker and Van de Ven went to Australia and Ben Sankor and Sard did not and so that made a lot of people think myself included is that those two are going to be sold and Berreveld's going to stay. I quite liked what Ben Sankor did under the Zerbi in the tail end of the season.
1:00:00I think he was one he had an impressive final quarter to the season. He's a good player. He's a very good player, Ben Tankour. I think he's a... Do you know what? I actually think he's a top player, but really unlucky with injuries. And it could just be at his age, he maybe feels his body's not up to the league anymore. Maybe, but he hasn't been that badly injured since... He had the ACL and then the mate cash injured, but other than that, he's been more or less available, hasn't he? Or have I got that wrong? No. He was racist for 10 games. He was racist for 10 games. He treated himself for 10 games in a row.
1:00:37Chelsea's mental. I feel like it was something else. But Enzo Fernandes didn't get banned. No. But Ben Sinclair did. No. Yeah, I know. I know. Chelsea. Usual shit. Right, mate. Nice one. Go and buy your bottles of Flushkind right now. Support a Spurs fan. Keep your ass clean. Bye. Bye. Bye.
