In short

Tottenham Hotspur match review and transfer/debate show. They discuss Spurs’ League Cup win over Charlton (Charlton’s reserves), standout players (Mateus Fernandes, Savio’s impact), and what it means for upcoming fixtures. They also debate transfer strategy (Premier League-proven vs riskier targets), including Savio/Marmoush, Kudus as a false nine, and potential Gakpo signing. They address fan/pundit narratives and even a fake-news rumor about James Madison and Archie Gray.

Guests

No clear named guests; the episode is a multi-host conversation (recurring voices including “Alex,” “Ben,” and “John/Flav” referenced). They mention a friend “Frederique” who took a photo at the match, but she is not a guest on-mic.

Key claims

Fernandes is the key difference-maker; Savio’s debut impact was immediate and decisive; Spurs should not over-manage minutes for new signings; Kudus can solve the “direct/hold-up” problem as a 9/false 9; buying Premier League-proven players reduces adaptation risk; Savio criticism from Man City fans is misguided due to squad/regimentation differences.

Notable examples

Savio scoring and assisting (including a second goal), Fernandes’ first-half play into Mikey Moore, Charlton’s away-fan atmosphere, Brentford’s aggressive press forcing long balls, and Marmoush’s Newcastle hat-trick (described as evidence for his fit).

1:56league league why not uh many many reasons uh how you doing boys yeah good all good mate thank you yeah it's mad what just like a convincing win against the second rate literally second string charlton side can do for a man's uh mood i had a great time don't put any levels through the roof mate I don't I can't remember ever being so rattled by the away fans I was on my chair when my arms are wide like this come in come in what's that where were you sat though you're in the south stand though so what you're doing it from the literally the other side of the stadium no I was in corporate I got corporate tickets I say corporate they're just expensive tickets they're not corporate tickets my mate you've been listening to this John team you're a legend he he it's just he just enjoys the finer side of football really and uh do you remember what this podcast was about about a decade ago right about a decade ago when we when we were all against modern football and and you know if one of us had even suggested that oh i've got some corporate tickets you fancy that we we might have kicked that person out at the time yeah i refused i remember one time the 82 movement is turning its grave now yeah what has happened to you anything to do with Sky Sports.

3:20Sky Sports to me were the devil. That's what I used to think. And then you grow up and just realize nothing means anything. You're on a rock hurtling through space and one day the sun is going to swallow it. Yeah. Yeah. But Charlton was good though. Charlton was great. And then, so I was like, right. Because I was pissed. I was waiting for Ricky and Spooky in the Volunteer. It was a great pub. and I'd had five pints of Guinness and uh there was a gentleman I can't remember his name mate sorry he'll be listening to this as well he bought me a pint of Guinness but I was then I was then double parked which is always a problem so when they turned up I was hammered already pretty much um so when I got to the ground while behaving myself because I was aware that I was you know a guest um I was irritated by the Charlton fans wound up by them I was like who do they think they are?

4:14It's 4 ,000 of them. That's a lot. And then when Spurs the inevitable happened, like they were well up for it, like bang up for it. There was meat wagons up and down the streets and stuff. It was quite nice. Quite a little bit of a throwback. They were singing like, some of the stuff that they were singing was the classic sort of like lower league shit, tin pot stuff. But they were singing like, you're just a bus stop in Arsenal. Which makes no sense. That doesn't make sense. Arsenal isn't a place. It's not a place. I know. It's the name of a football team. There isn't an area in London called Arsenal.

4:46It's also like, get a fucking cock out your mouth. Yeah. Like, why are you licking Arsenal's arse to try and put us down? That's pathetic. Exactly. It's embarrassing. If anyone there a bus stop, and it's not near Woolwich. Absolutely. Have you, I mean, I've been to Charlton a heap. Sorry to hear that. The only thing that's good about Charlton is that the London Marathon goes through a bit of it. like, that's fine. That's about it, really. I mean, if that is the very peak of... I'm pretty sure it does. Life in Charlton. The marathon takes place in a park. Everyone's blocking that out in their calendars.

5:25You must get to Charlton for that. Yeah, so I just thought, fuck it. That Arsenal thing tipped me over the edge. They won because I was rassled. So I was on the chair. I was going, come in then. Come in then, Charlton. You want it, dear? On the chair. You want it, Charlton? All of you. not been in the Premier League for like 20 years I was waving as well, I did a lot of waving at him I had such a good time I had such a good time shout out to Frederique as well who is a I've spoken about him over the time she put together an amazing photo book of Tottenham her ability with a camera is excellent right and it's good to push people on if you've got an opportunity to but I know she was at the game so I texted her and I went can you find me and Ricky if you can I know I'm sure you're busy taking pictures of like Mattis tell and that and you know you have a job to do but if you you get a spare moment can you find us in the in in 60 ,000 seat stadium and take a picture of us um she found us it was amazing it's a beautiful beautiful picture I said in the good genuinely it made me just like fuck I wish Charles Rick's best mate because you know why why didn't it be why I've been I've been your best mate you've been my best mate for a decade it's got me nowhere whereas whereas with Rick I feel like I sometimes look you know with a with a look at each other in the eye like the reality of another world that what we could have had if it had been me and him literally you literally sound like a like a rejected lover but he is because everyone loves Rick and we all love Ricky obviously but you just you just have such a good time when you're with him and she just capsulated that so perfectly in that picture that I was just like I'm going to go through my photos and find pictures of what me and Rick have had together and make myself feel better it was beautiful genuinely it was really nice I wanted I spent a lot of time this is how drunk I was trying to convince Ricky to tell the bloke next to him about my thoughts on Mikey Moore tell him what I think Rick I could have done it myself anyway what did you make of the performance it's been a couple of days now so there's been loads of conversation around it what does it mean doesn't mean anything but it was good to see it started to click a little bit Charlton faded massively like you say second string almost impossible for them but really the best part of the night was when Savio was on the bench and then oh I was getting 20 minutes what do you think Ben it was I felt like it was a bit of an I was there moment with Savio coming on after all this time.

8:02Yeah. So maybe we'll look back on that in 10 years and think when he made his debut against Charlton. But no, it was good. I thought we, first 20 minutes or so, I thought we struggled a little bit to sort of like, not just to break them down, we weren't really going anywhere. But I thought the players for me that had the most influence on the game, and again, it's Charlton, second string team, whatever, was Mateus Fernandes. And I think you can sort of just tell the difference inside that we're going to be with and without. him. He's just absolutely mustered. He just keeps the game ticking over.

8:36Always wants the ball. There was a few little things that he did in the first half where he just take the ball on the turn and then just spray it out to Mikey Moore. It was lovely watching him. Hopefully he starts tomorrow because he played 90 minutes on Wednesday. So hopefully. Who? Fernandes. I don't think he came off, did he? I can't remember. No, he has to play. If he's available, he's got to play. I know you want to manage him. He's different gravy you that geezer yeah i i think i've said it all summer i think he will be out of everyone that we've brought in i think he will be the one that i said i said that i think all right yeah i think we've all said that i probably said did you say that yeah i don't know you said you said robertson didn't you no i said i said you've heard me say that and you've just you said the bradwick is going to replace kinsky three months into the season is going to win the golden glove mate i I was so rattled by that Brentford game.

9:28Like, honestly, I was taken aback. I didn't really sort of talk about it on the last podcast. I just didn't want to. I'm like, oh my God, it was so bad. I'm like, I was questioning everybody. I was questioning, in my head, I didn't vocalise it. I was like, Kinski ain't good enough. Tenile it,£100 million for that. That shit. That's what I was thinking in my head, but I just didn't want to get it out. Do you know, one of the things you have given me in this decade of us being the friends that we are is that I know, my first reaction after every game is I think our Flav is going to be thinking right now.

9:59And I knew, within the first 20 minutes of that last podcast, it was brilliant. And it was exactly what everyone needed to listen to after that game. But I knew what you were really thinking and I knew it was exactly that. And I think later on in the week, we've all just had a little moment where we've gone, yeah, I'm a bit wound up about that. And I'm not sure if I'm a bit scared. We've all been traumatized to a degree over the last two years that it can't be like this again. No, no, it can't. Surely not. Oh no, we're still shit. Oh no. Oh no. And I'm kind of hoping that Brentford are brilliant and Brentford have a mad season when they finish in the top five.

10:39They are a good team. They are a good team. Good team. They're a good team. I think in terms of the game on Wednesday, it was just perfect because it lets you work through all those, you know, such a wanky word, but, you know, all those automations, all the things that you want to be able to do that is not in a training session, but is in a stadium, in a match day setting, 60 ,000 fans, blah, blah, blah. It lets them work on those things. And like I said, I'm not having this whole Mattis Fernandes needs managing stuff. There's not going to be many games in there, practically out in the next round anyway, you know, Liverpool way.

11:18Fucking play. I don't know if there are any fucking excuses about managing minutes. They've got him and Sanessi have got to go and work on their own in training to feel good. Fucking be ready. It's not good enough. I'm not happy about that. He said that about Tonali, didn't he? Yeah, because he wasn't on the bench. Yeah, what was that? Just resting him? I think so. He said he's 100 % going to start on Saturday. But do you not think, though, that they're aware of our injury problems? And they're like, how do we avoid this happening? One part of it is build a big squad and manage minutes. It might be a reaction to that because no one knows why we're getting so many injuries.

11:56Poor old Charlton turned up, played 10 minutes on our pitch and won't lose two of their players forever. I think one of them died. I'm not sure.

12:07It was the tonic everyone needed. It was valuable minutes that obviously the players and the system and the coaching staff needed. It enabled us to get a new signing on the pitch and get a goal and confidence ready for a big game on Saturday. Yeah, I mean, it could have been better. Let's recognise it for what it is, but also, you know, just because it is what it was doesn't mean that the positives that are taken from it are any less meaningful. I feel like you can't really win with them cup games a lot of the time. Like you said, because you can't really, if you feel like you want to talk about all the positives about it, when everyone else is just going to go, well, you know, it was Charlton's reserves in the League Cup.

12:44But like you said, you want to see more of that stuff. And I think for Savio coming on, you couldn't have pictured that going any better for him to score exactly the kind of goal. I saw City fans were fuming on Twitter. They were like, he's never done this. He's never, ever done this for us. He doesn't shoot from outside the box. And I've never seen him hit a ball that well. And it's like for him to, you know, he's got a long way to go to prove the money and to prove why we should all be excited about him, which I think we have a right to be 100%. But, you know, for him to score that exact kind of goal.

13:15and then the second goal as well which wasn't his but the way he just sat everyone down on their arse in the penalty area I was like try not to get try not to get too excited yeah I mean I was too fucking late now yeah no no I mean like you say it was perfect perfect game tired legs against Charlton show them what you can do and there's been a massive reaction like City fans have seemingly on TikTok have become obsessed over this deal like the Marmouche stuff is another thing we need to talk about that but they've kind of been obsessed by this Savio deal yeah and like do we know why he's changed his name is it something to do with his dad or something someone someone said it's like i don't know you kept calling him savio and i was like why do you he's been called savio well when when he was at girona i think yeah well he had savio on his back not savinho so i don't know what it's about like i'm not i didn't just make it up i didn't call him savio for ages i thought you were just sticking to your guns because you spell it wrong once and then just see what's happening now to my guns about berival yeah like everyone's that's his name that's his name he said um my name changed because when i got called up to the national team they first put savinho on the shirt people in gerona knew me more of savinho it was just written as savio so i told city to put savinho on the shirt and i hope it brings me luck and obviously it didn't so it didn't yeah it didn't change it there was someone spelling mistake so I was right.

14:38Yeah. But that's quite common in Brazil though, doesn't it? It's like, Inho means, isn't it like... It's a ton of, isn't it? Yeah. Something like that. Yeah, it's like baby, Ronaldinho is like baby Ronaldo, I think is what, like, I think that's how it translates. Yeah. I'm pretty sure. So like, ones that are like, just called Dave and Fred and Alan. Yeah. Those Brazilians, they don't, they don't have any, they're fatherless or something. Yeah, well City have actually just signed a Brazilian when they're called Alan. Alan, you can't, good he is you can't pay 100 million for a bloke called alan oh yeah steve's coming through the door next week it does make a slight difference it's a double l e n rather than a l a yeah yeah yeah a good friend of ours has got three first names i can't say it because i think you'll get the ump if i say his name i think so it's ridiculous most the most basic free names that you can call a man of all of his all of his names it's so good um yeah so it's great coming on but I was just thinking about the Manchester City fans complaining about Savio's performance saying they didn't do that for Spurs why do you think that is?

15:42because you've got one of the most regimented controlling managers and for good reason he won it all that are telling him how to play football like Thierry Henry was bombed out of Barcelona because he wouldn't follow what Pep Guardiola wanted him to do so poor little Savio he's not going to go that's probably why he wanted to leave for ages this is fucking boring and this is the thing I want to go Spurs Yeah, and this is the thing that I think has been lost in some of the, I mean, I don't know why I let it wind me up, but the punditry around Savinho, oh, we didn't do it at City, why would he do it at City?

16:18Do you realise what City are and who they are and the level of players they have in the regiment that they've had? No one would buy anyone if they just hadn't done it for one of their clubs. And Spurs are a level down from Man City. So you're asking him to work at the absolute elite. We're not saying that, oh, Savino signed. So will we win the Champions League now? No one's saying that. What's happening is he's going to elevate us from the position we're in now to the position we're in next, not to Man City's position. And I just, I don't know why I just become an imitable. No, but it's irritating, Alex.

16:58Because it's obviously such a... Sorry, go on, Ben. Yeah, I was going to say, if you apply that logic, then you look at De Bruyne or Chelsea, you look at Salah at Chelsea and those guys I know they went away to somewhere else before they came back to the Premier League like De Bruyne went to Wolfsburg and did really well there but if Savino left Man City and went back to Spain or went to I don't know Germany or whatever he'd probably be really good and then another Premier League team would probably take the chance on him in two years time anyway so it's like it's the same kind of logic no player can ever be good because they weren't good for one big team it's just incredible like I was watching a clip of some of a pundit literally go, yeah, I mean, that's a good sign.

17:36They've made the sign in here and they've made sign Mamouche and Savinho and Fernandes. Fernandes has been relegated twice. Roy King got relegated in Nottingham Forest and Man United bought him. I find it so unbelievably... Can I blame you two, really? Because you're part of the problem with your little content creation or the rest of it. People have just got to say shit now and I resent you both for it. No problem. My problem with... this changes everything um no i was going to explain to you alex um exactly why that sort of punditry lazy punditry happens and it's basically what you said right is you're you're put in a situation so our case in point right i'm not going to do a massive name drop here but just so you know how on the back foot i was for a second which i'm sure you'll enjoy alex right is um i usually do this thing with rory jennings but rory jennings on holiday so i had to do it of Andy Goldstein.

18:33So Andy Goldstein, obviously, people know he's at TalkSport, big deal. So I'm quite intimidated, right? I had to coach myself to go, it's just a conversation about football. Because in my head, I'm thinking, who the fuck is this guy I'm doing this work with? So all my insecurities were kind of right at the forefront, right? I just didn't want to fuck up.

18:55And then in the first five minutes, he asked me about something that he assumed I would know about maguire holding someone getting the wrong player against hull yeah i've just seen i don't know what the fuck that meant and they just asked me this wasn't just about spurs asking about other football stuff was it yeah before the season even kicks off soccer fans are already making predictions who wins the league who qualifies for europe and who's lifting the trophy at season's end on calci america's number one prediction market platform you're trading against peers in a live market meaning there's no house and as the probability changes you can buy in and out of your position.

20:48Oh, shit. So in that moment, you say anything you can that shows you might know. so I went I went down the lines of your way he's like clumsy clumsy individual isn't he and he's on you know no matter how it's a terrible answer right but I just had to get through it give me the Spurs stuff and luckily we got there but that's what I'm saying these people ask questions and when you get booked you assume they assume you can kind of speak on anything and most football teams you can kind of get by on if someone asked me about Hull City I'm dead in the water I get that this was like Ali McQuist who hosts in the show and then having a question like they've got a running order they know what's coming they know what they're talking about and I just yeah it's just anyway but my point being is that you know don't spend money oh they'll never get to the next level because they're not that club blah blah blah spend some money oh yeah but you know you're only buying Premier League I mean some of our own fans are saying that like you're only buying proven you're only buying proven Premier League players now what the fuck is wrong with you and I'm like what And then they're saying, well, if Simon Savino, is he much better than Kuliseski or Kudus?

21:59We haven't had either of them for at least nine months. What do you want us to do? He's so angry. My missus is like, what are you shaking your head at? I can imagine, because I've seen Alex Leder so many times, standing and just standing. He's even looking at the telly or he's looking at his phone and he's just really cross angry face. and he's shaking his head. Yeah. Just like one hand on hip. Yeah. So you're just like... And then all she heard, just... Honestly. My wife was... They're doing it again. They're doing it again. They're doing it again. And then my wife was saying that stuff to me.

22:41It's like, why are you getting so wound up? And I was like, it just is annoying. So some team news has just come through. Oh, God. Oof, Marona. That's never good. No, it's good. Marmouche is available to play against Newcastle. Sexy. Vandy Venn is fit. Vandy Venn. Vandy Venn. Vandy Venn is fit. And obviously Pedro Porra and Savio Kudos. On the bench. Could make the bench. Yes. James Madison is a minge. That's what it says here. Yeah, built like a fucking sparrow. what was that thing that come across I don't know how much we can talk about this I was it was do you know what I'm going to say yeah I don't want you to talk about it oh yeah yeah if you see if you see papers are we talking about the thing that was in the group chat last night eye papers no you're talking about the Madison thing Madison and Archie Grey yeah we're not going to talk about that are we well you've got to let them know let the audience know because they might not have seen it there was this erroneous rumor.

23:47That's not right. It's fine. It's okay. Be happy. Love who you love. That's what I would say. Hmm. Um, so apparently Madison and not apparently, according to this, this, what, according to this newspaper, what was it? I was like a really serious newspaper. If you see independent, it's independent. No, it wasn't. It was like, it was actually in the guardian. I heard Jack P. Bruce talking about it on View from the Lane. This is exactly how fake news and just spread. Do you remember the Brennan Johnson, Lily Phillips thing? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like... Yeah. So the Twitter account that's got something like Tottenham papers, or Liverpool have got one that's like Anfield papers, which is just a...

24:34They are just a wind-up. Read it out, Alex. Yeah, it wasn't the I or the... The Guardian. It was the Daily Nude or Naud or whatever it's called. They just create for banter. Yeah. Like nude. All right, guys, because I was tired and I looked at him and I was like, Madison and Archie Gray are in a relationship. But then I was thinking, Madison's had four kids recently. Hasn't he got time for a gay affair with Archie Gray? And you don't think that that would be like, you know, I don't think it would be the Daily Naud breaking that news either. Guardian. Yeah. The Observe on Sunday. The BBC gossip column.

25:11Yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm all for it. I mean, love is love, Alex. That's not the point I'm making, and the fact that, you know, it's a disgusting, you know, rumour. What I'm saying is... It's what it sounds like, yeah. Yeah, Alex, I'm saying love is love, and you're like, look at him, he's shaking your head. Yeah, because I'm just like, well, this is, you know, well, I say we. You know, you've worked really hard to get this podcast where it is. Let's not go down the erroneous route of, you know... Spreading tittle-tattle. Yeah. yeah i've already i've already got in trouble last week so yeah i don't know we're doing this this is a q a podcast we should do some questions yeah um so it might come up but yeah people weren't happy with how i started the podcast and how i made a comparison to spurs coming back and being shit like i was using like did you get told off for that did you yeah interesting again imagine what this was like 10 years ago it's like people haven't listened to us for 15 years like that that's i think that was tame but i'm you know i don't want to be edgy for the sake of being edgy you are edgy or you're not i was born this way an edgelord all right anyway Diddy Barnett says I'm late so I know this won't get read and I can confess in private sometimes I go out in the garden and cover myself in dirt and pretend I'm a carrot

26:43that's brilliant

26:48I wasn't expecting that no oh mate fantastic Diddy I thought he was going to say I go out into the garden and just shout into the ether not to bury myself why are we so shit it's not like do you know there's probably there is probably someone in the world that does do that yeah like you know you see them programs that are like my strange relationship or whatever or that person was having sex yeah or like eat the stuffing out pillows but there is probably someone that does go in the garden and just covers themselves in dirt yeah no without without question my issue isn't with the people that shag cars it's the people to get angry with the people that shag cars.

27:27Yeah, let them live. What are you angry at? Nothing, literally no harm is being done to anybody. Not only to shag your car. Yeah. I mean, I might have the young if I'm coming out for work every morning and he's just there like going for it. Because they put the cock in the exhaust. Morning Dave. I'm assuming this is the only thing. 6.30 Dave. No, they're not doing it in the open. Well, what if he hasn't got a garage? Good point. Or someone with that kind of fetish probably would invest in the garage. It's just the people online going, he's a fucking creature. Isn't that disgusting? It's bad, leave him alone.

28:03It's like the Somerset Gimp. Just leave him alone. He's not helping anybody. It was a, I think he was in, this is a gentleman. What's the podcast you listen to? Scream Rock. Scream Rock, yeah. A very massive popular podcast. And it's about a gentleman who lived in Somerset called the Somerset Gimp. And he would go out in public dressed as a gimp and arrive around in fields and things like that. But people just let him live. And then they tried to find out who he was and they couldn't find out. It was a bit of a mystery, a bit of fun and, you know. It's a free country. It's a free country. Do what you like.

28:36Fucking disgusting, he's shagging a car. Right. J4RD7N says, how do we feel about Kudus as a false nine? I know Savio was great at Girona on the left, but I feel moving him to the left to accommodate Kudus on the right might be less effective. I can imagine a world where Kudus playing as a 10 with marmouche up top savio right wing and tell left wing might be great also your mum is great lady flav thank you someone said he's not reading all that and then he said and then he followed up and said you underestimate flav's reading ability i'm not sure he did but you did get through it um so i mean i just want goodness back forget 10 right back I don't care just as long as he's actually fit I as a fourth nine though I can see I've said it I've said that I've said that De Zerbi spoke about him said he can use him in the 10 didn't he he spoke about it a few weeks ago definitely I think if we're going to have players now that can beat a man Zerbino and well let's see if obviously Gakpo happens but then yeah it might be a question of where are we getting the most amount of that particular player's strengths from a position rather than the other way around.

29:54And so, yeah, in theory, yeah, it works. I'm really interested about Mahmoud because he described himself as a striker, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see him on the left whilst we're still kind of figuring things out a little bit. You know what I mean? Was that just me? just a bit of that innit just a I know you can't people at home can't see what I'm doing but a bit of that innit lads yeah you go there I'll go there what you want me to drop in the 10 course I can do that I can do that I can do anything you want what do you want me to do and then so people at home sorry Flav's actions was like as if you were moving loads of salt and pepper shakers around on a table to explain to a girl on a first date what the offside rule is yeah yeah yeah no but but but I listened I saw a clip from the Echo Glory podcast and the gentleman on there was saying you can't pack the middle of the...

30:55People want... Deserby would like to play through the middle, but it's quite easy to navigate if you don't have other options and packing the middle is something you can do if you're not worried about the wings and having Kudus and Savio on each wing, like two 1v1 experts. it's going to create indecision they're not going to want to leave them out there it's going to have to set up differently which will create options going through the middle I think the idea of Kudus as a 9 if someone isn't fit so this is a player the ball will stick to and you can bring other players in which is something that Zerbi likes I don't hate that at all I think that could definitely be an option That's the biggest thing isn't it?

31:40That was our biggest problem against Brentford where they did go super aggressive man-to-man and forced us to go long into Richarlison. And Richarlison just cannot make it stick whatsoever. Kudis has always been brilliant at that. You saw that last season. Our only outball under Thomas Frank was to play the ball from Vacario to Porro. And Porro would just lump it down the line to Kudis. And Kudis would have one man, two man at his back. And the amount of times that he'd be able to hold them off and then bring other players into play, he's so good at that. He's got that strength and got that ability to hold the ball at his back.

32:15And also, if you've just got better technicians in that front line generally, which is what Marmouche is, Savio, despite his faults further up the pitch, he is a very good technical footballer that will hold on to the ball. Kudus obviously come back as well. And Solanke to come back. If you are forced to go long and be more direct to get over the press, then they are just going to look after the ball a lot better generally. And then you can turn and then you can make something. And also, teams are then probably less likely to go as tight because they know that these players can just sort of actually look after the ball and spin away.

32:48They're not going to be as aggressive. The upgrade in technical quality in that front line is going to force teams to not be able to play the way that Brentford did. Yeah, I agree with you. It's kind of a mental upgrade. And while we all kind of rate Mikey Moore and wish him well and hope that he has a long and excellent career at Spurs. Really nice goal. The keeper probably should have done better, but he hit it with such venom that it went in. And he rebounded after a couple of failed take-ons, losing the ball. And for them to go again and actually have a really strong second half, Mikey Moore...

33:28The goal gave him so much confidence, I think. You could just see it was night and day after he scored that goal. Yeah. but I don't think he's quite at Premier League level yet which is fine and so you do need players like we've missed Kudis massively if you think we're actually okay looking okay not necessarily the way we played but our results under Frank I think we went something like 13 games unbeaten if I remember rightly I remember Justin Cochran tweeting about it something like that I might get it wrong but everything changed when Kudis picked up his injury and just having him And just as options.

34:04And Mamouche can, like you said, play off the left if he needs to. I think we'll probably get Gakpo now. That's exciting. What a mental summer. What a fucking crazy summer. I'd be really excited for Gakpo. We've obviously all joked internally about, you know, when the first links were there together and saying it was shit. And I've always liked him because I think he's just such a Spurs player. And yeah, he'll be inconsistent and that type of stuff. but you can't tell me that he's not an upgrade on tail like he just is yeah he is uh and yeah but you've got a boner about tail you just that you don't but you've chosen not to like him and now he's got the opposite of a boner yeah yeah exactly it's i mean i can't even force it in but you have a boner for to for tell being uh no i and i and i i lean into that sometimes but i have been i recognize now my position would tell now is that i i would like him to stay and i'd like him to be in the squad but my my issue was people going we should invest our energy and that's position to tell and see how he develops and i'm like we're not that if if if what we're doing this summer is is now what tottenham are like this is this is the mentality we have to move beyond because no other elite club would be going yep that position is his for him to grow into that doesn't happen it didn't happen with phil foden it didn't happen with cole palmer it doesn't happen it would be lovely if we had could do that but we are in a position now where we where we need to improve and we need to improve substantially and tell odiver bergval you know and i i almost include gray in it but not quite like no i don't want to be that club at the moment like i want us to jump four rungs of the ladder and be where we need to be.

35:57100%. Without question. It's not time to... We're not worrying about youth integration. Send them out on loan. If they're not good enough, you can't... We don't have the luxury of nearly getting relegated twice and then going, no, but we need to develop our young players because that's the right way to do things. Yeah, but tell now, I feel, has deserved that place in the squad. And he can stay. And I think he'll get enough and we'll learn from... the players that are now going to be there, where it will do his development just as good as him being out. Maybe not just as good, but he'll still be able to develop.

36:31Marmouche and Tell, when he was in the Bundesliga, he was the most underrated player. Yeah. Well, there you go. So, yeah, so I've softened slightly on Tell, but yeah, the rest of them can all go.

36:45All of them go. Gorilla splashes. With anyone else encouraged by Richarlison's contribution to the chart and win, him staying firmly on the bench, made a real positive impact on the team's performance. His best game in a while hopefully can continue this for. See, I'm not comfortable with this. Yeah, I'm not comfortable with this Richarlison bashing. He's got to go, right? If we buy him, Mahmoud. Now we've bought him. He's not going to play a minute. He's not going to play a minute. Fine, but I'd still like him to be around because he is someone that didn't have to play a minute and you need a goal in the last five minutes and there's crosses coming in from all sorts of places.

37:16I've got no issue. If he wants to stay, I've got no issue with him staying. Yeah, I do get that. I respect him. I just don't rate him in any way. Yeah, he can't be starting. He shouldn't be our starting number. Oh, no. I think like, and it's the thing with Mahmouche, I really like him and I think it's a great signing for us. I don't think he is necessarily, he might be, but I think he's better off kind of playing with another number nine as well. And I think that Solanke would bring far more out of Mahmouche than what Richarlison would be able to do. So Mahmouche could be our 10, you think? I think so, especially in the time where we don't have another option.

37:55Oh, yeah, 100%. And it also changes the – it gives you different ways to play. There will be games where you need a Madison, you need a – I know he's not going to be around for a while, but like a Xavi, someone like that to help like – So would you go Tenali, Benton, Kuh, Marmouche, Savio, Solanke, well, Telven or Gakpo? Are you talking about specifically for tomorrow? Just in general. like if what Marmouche in a 10 yeah I would I'd think for now that I would go Tonali Fernandes Marmouche Solanke as a front two and then Savio and probably Tell until Kudas comes back and then I just think that if you look at Marmouche's career like he is best when he's playing with a target man number nine like Eketike at Frankfurt or like Haaland at City where again if you want to go direct he can benefit from harlan dropping deep and marmush then running into the space and beyond or he's a very good player at kind of being he's a traditional like if you go back like 20 years and you saw that strike partnerships picking up those second balls exactly and he's got such good ball striking from outside the box as well which is something that we don't have and i think it's something i spoke about so much when we were in for croupy like they're quite similar in certain ways specifically with that ability to play off a number nine and kind of drop back a little bit and then take shots or arrive late into the box.

39:21Marmouch's record against Newcastle was really, really good. And if you look at the first, when he first went there, he scored a hat-trick against them in his first game. The first goal is him, a long direct ball where Haaland drops deep and he runs in beyond and chips the goalkeeper. The second ball is like a ball to feet in the penalty area where he quickly shifts it and then wraps it bottom corner past the goalkeeper, which again, I don't think any of our strikers would do that. And then the third goal is Savio getting to the byline, and cutting it back and Mahmoud's kind of arriving from nowhere just to sweep it in first time so I think that if you're going to platform him in the best way sometimes you might overcomplicate he definitely can play as a nine for us I think but I quite like the idea while we haven't got a proper number 10 option and I don't really I don't mind Gallagher but I don't count Gallagher really in this I would play him and Slanky up top together yeah I like I like the sound of that yeah let's just do that the noble yeah it's fine just email the club Ben yeah um no bowl plan versus 17 says Mikey Moore keep for depth or loan loan loan championship loan or Premier League loan uh I think Germany loan I think I think he'll end up going to Kloon um that was I think that as soon as maybe after the weekend or like I don't know whether they're still waiting to get one more in and then do it but now with Kudas coming back I think that But interesting question here about Gakpo.

It says, why do Tottenham keep waiting for other clubs to buy good players so they can buy players those clubs don't want? Why wait until Liverpool buys Bar Cola to buy Gakpo instead of just buying Bar Cola?

42:32Honestly, I just... It's just ridiculous. It's me. What I just made, that noise then is me stood in the kitchen with one hand on my hip looking at my phone, shaking my head. My missus going, what is the matter with you now? like that is it because Barcola is out of reach to Tottenham at the moment yes like it's like why don't just buy Messi why don't we just buy the best player in the world like you don't think that like Barcola isn't some secret that the Spurs network would have gone bloody hell I hadn't even heard of him I've looked at a couple clips he looks really good we should have gone for him like it would have it would have got to a point where it was like well yeah I mean that would be incredible like have we got any soundings whatsoever that he would be remotely interested and of course that would have You come back as no, and then you move on.

43:16I don't... Barclay has been really impressive when I've seen him in an incredible PSG team. I don't think any of those players, barring probably Kravat Scilio, and obviously... I don't... They become lesser players when they leave PSG because they're not in that unit of... you know, did Portugal romp the World Cup because they had the best midfield in the world? No. No, these are the best midfielders for PSG. So much of it is Enrique, like you said. Oh, of course, yeah. So while this may say crazy, Kakpo, proven in the Premier League, knowing exactly what he wants, is probably more of a sure bet than buying Barcola at less price.

44:05Well, I think you only have to look at... Could be a reasoning. You only have to look at Liverpool. I mean, look what's happened with Wurtz. You know, when Wurtz signed, I think I remember every pundit going, well, that's a leak. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. He was incredible for Leverkusen. Yeah, of course. But it's just such a... It's such a... There's no science behind people being able to come to the Premier League and adapt. Like, it just isn't. And as much as people get frustrated, like I've heard certain places go, I'm just frustrated with Tottenham's business because there are other players that we could have got for not as much money who are just as good that we can invest in that are from the continent and all the rest of it i'm like yeah but again if you can take out if you have to pay a 10 million pound surcharge for example to take away an element of that risk and then you can never take all of it away we've signed other players from other premier league clubs that turned out to be shite but if you can take away 30 of that risk 40 of that risk that actually they can adapt because they've already been here that the adaption is done to a degree then you then you pay it i just yeah i just there's so many variables in it and you know the market as it is is you know partly down to us i would say you know is inflated to a degree so us going oh we'll get back gacpo isn't very good because liverpool might not want to keep him is a nonsense yeah yeah barkler is one of the best wingers in the world instantly comes into the premier league i think like you said there's no guarantee that he hits because it's just it's not it's football but he becomes the best winger in the prem straight away in my opinion like it'd be the same if i know he's a lot better but if vinnie went to arsenal like he would have become the best winger in the premier league and it's like those kind of players are just not like that's not where we are right now and that's fine like that's absolutely fine it's it kind of goes back to the awesome thing a little bit as well just like what why would he like i know that's more about the money but like again he's not going to come to top him he's going to go to if you can if he's going to go to the premier league he's going to go to a team that is there.

46:02Tottenham can get there by doing what we're doing now and massively raising the floor of the squad to a point where next summer if we get back in Europe then maybe we can have a little look at some of these players. But the thing about the Premier League proven stuff, I understand, now we've brought like eight players all from the Premier League. I do understand some people kind of going, well maybe we can afford to take a bit more of a risk and not pay the premium that we need to pay to get another Premier League proven player in and these clubs know we've obviously got the money and we want one.

46:31but at the end of the day, like there could, if, if we didn't sign Gakpo and I think Gakpo is frustrating. I think he's got limitations. I like parts of his game, but there is also a world in two months time where we're going, Oh, we probably should have done that. I don't understand if there's any criticism of buying Premier League proven players. It's like, it's the best version, the best possible thing you can do is play by players, you know, can perform at the highest level in club football consistently over a 38 game period. That, is like that's that's what we haven't been doing for years we've and now we're doing it people are like oh no actually no it's only because people want to say want to talk about some knowledge that they have about players that are outside of this league i'm convinced that that is all it is um and uh if you are outside of this league uh then you're gonna need salie that was terrible wasn't it probably the worst link ever it doesn't mean anything what do you mean you're out of this um yeah so if you're going on holiday uh this this summer still some time uh here's a generally useful useful thing it's called an e-sim and you need salie it's going to save you on money it's going to save you on dealing with dodgy sim card sellers you have to queue in airports and you absolutely will pay less than you pay you have to pay ee or vodafone or wherever it is so you sign up and when you're going on holiday the minute you land it's available for data to use and yes cheaper and like um alex might you know i can't i can't go on holiday uh probably not but it's it's i mean the main point as you made pretty evidently clear the other week was that you know i don't need it because i can't go on holiday because i'm poor um which which by the way i had playing in the in the car and heart my daughter my nine-year-old daughter listened to it and pissed herself laughing it's exactly the same way that you and john did and i still now i still don't get it now and i didn't get it then but she she was she was absolutely pissing herself so um i've had numerous messages this week or tweets about you know sorry to hear you're poor and stuff like that um but all i can say is that i'm also i don't i'm not poor oh right right right right i just assumed because you weren't going on holiday i didn't i've been on holiday i just went to like yorkshire mate that don't count you're just in england you've driven somewhere that's what's happened does it count as a holiday if it's in this country no well yeah but that's because you don't understand nature ben said to me i spotted right i just tell a story right very quickly uh for anyone that is uh interested in any type of nature or you know kind of the unnatural world um i saw spotted a whilst on holiday in yorkshire a um hawkeye uh hummingbird moth fucking everywhere well i had not seen one before in real life and they're kind of a bit of a all right i said i said in the group it was a bit of a bucket list that i'd seen one bucket list that everybody in the uk has done this year i don't think that's true i've they're not not they've had a boom this year so i've read anyway yeah i read about it yeah um so i put in the group of that and ben was like you had had a few drinks and you're like i genuinely feel sorry for you if that's on your bucket list and i was like he's like why why are you interested in this stuff i was like it's just who i am ben that is the weakest bucket list ever you're going to achieve everything on that bucket list i tell you yeah i was just like a plane uh travel around the world uh natural world see a moth yeah but just animals in the natural world is my is my he was like why do you care about it i was like it's just my thing that's what i'm into what i will say is they are aren't common in in the uk but in this summer the people you've had they've come over and they are amazing they are massive but everybody has seen them wow I hadn't I've seen about eight I'm not even bothered anymore yeah well that's another one I wish I'd fuck off back to where they came from do you remember a few years ago there was all of the Asian hornet wasp things yeah they're nasty they are nasty it was a fucking massive one in my bedroom I'm not ticking that off my bucket list I'm getting the fuck out of there our hornets are great European hornets are great right they're not aggressive they're much less aggressive than wasps they eat wasps and they're good for press control but they are terrifying.

51:08Yeah, they are. Their heads move independent of their bodies which is not normal. What would you expect in a fucking bee-like creature? Are wasps the most hated animal in the world? Yeah, I'd say. They are for me. Yeah, they're cunts. But flies are the most hated. Not hated. They're just irritable. Like I've got the door open now and this time of year it's okay but there's going to come a time in there where you can't have a door open for longer than 30 seconds there's 40 of a buzzing around your light shade do you know like like if you're saying oh hate flies get away but they're buzzing everywhere they're crucial yeah i know this because i'm into nature ben won't know it tell him mate he did a alex did it for a laugh did a zoology degree yeah actually wasn't for a laugh i was quite proud of it but uh but yeah thanks mate good for you okay La Machine JT says you've got a gun in your hands and the Zerbi is making you shoot one player in the squad to set an example to the rest this will give us the motivation to win the league would you pull the trigger and if so who's getting pumped PS this is your chance to put the racist rumors to bed

52:25it's got to be couldas isn't it

52:31without thinking straight in there bam see you later one player in our squad I don't really want to shoot any of our players no maybe Richarlison because it's like this is standard you know when you get like a it's like when a horse goes down at the Grand National and it's just like it's just kind of to put them out of their misery a little bit no I'd I'd I'd I like Richarlison I'd kind of take him home and let him eat my... Yeah. Maybe, yeah. After Saturday, I wanted to... Yeah, I was so angry. Like, unacceptably angry about a young man who I've never met who was trying his best. Like, it was...

53:13That's the problem. There it is. There it is. We've seen his best. Can we talk about the press conference? What does Erby said in the press conference? Because I'll be honest, I wasn't particularly impressed with the press conference afterwards. After Charlton? No, after Brentford. So he talked about Bergvauld saying he knew that it was a game that Bergvauld would suffer, but had to start him because what was the point in pre-season otherwise? And I was a bit like, that's either a bit of a cop-out or that's not in the best interest of the club. It all seemed a bit excuse-y. You're almost writing that game off against Brentford as another pre-season game, if that's the case.

53:58Yeah, I just felt the press conference was a bit excuse-y. Shut up. Yeah. Shut up, Alex. Maybe I'll shoot De Zerbi. Do you want to feel this has been hard enough this week? Now you're picking holes in De Zerbi. Well, again, Flav, you can't... Just wait until it's immediately obvious that he's out of his depth. Let's not just hope he's out of his depth. Or think about things. It's like, well, no. Because we've spent all this money, and then you're like, and it starts and Brentford start well and then you're like, oh my God, they're still going well. 20 minutes has passed and they're still going well and you get to halftime and they should be 4-0 up.

54:32And then the second half, so I was like, he's going to put a rocket up them now. The second half would be different. Then they could have got a couple more and then the game ended and they just obliterated us for 90 minutes, right? And then what are you thinking? You're thinking, fucking hell, De Zerbe is your fraud. Is that what it is? Can he do this? So we'll find out, Alex. Yeah, which I appreciate, but we are not your moons. We don't revolve around whether you're upset or been a hard week and you don't want to talk about this. This is literally your job now. We had this conversation when you went full time, but this is what happened.

55:05I can control what is said on this pod. I can't stop you from saying this shit. Okay, fine. I was at the game, so I couldn't really tell, the Brentford game. A lot of people were saying with Bergvall, he, maybe this is unfair, but a lot of people were saying he kind of just like looked a bit disinterested, looked a little bit like head down. I think his confidence is... Yeah. Whether it's confidence or whether it was attitude, but yeah, there was a bit of walking going on at times where I'm like, let's just say I wasn't shouting walk. Yeah. Run you fucking... downtown guard 5201 so gents I've been listening since before COVID almost religiously but only just started following Flav and Ricky on socials given his voice his name and how right wing his politics tend to be presented I've always envisioned John as a most generic looking bald headed fat Englishman who happens to stand at 6 foot 3 to see an Instagram recommendation for the real John Bass and a picture of a dude with a full black beard and an equally full head of hair albeit a big forehead absolutely rattled me.

56:27Love the shirt, love the pod. If you need another person with a big male army, I'm 6 '5". I don't think we're taking any more applications. See, Ben's on the back foot already. Don't need any more. And also, sizes. Also, you would be taller than me and John so that doesn't really work. Yeah. also there's no guarantee of you know hardness evidently because yeah i could have you both i think i've always said this i'm not hard you'd be from crush a baby's skull in your hand i don't think you could i'm gonna say it i don't admit that look look i'm not like i've got little chicken arms i'm not like i'm just big i'm just tall like i'm not struck yeah look alex is more of a man than i am no no alex is more insecure than than you are that's why he's definitely yeah I'm securing my own body and my own frame I like the fact that whenever you wind someone up on Twitter or you make you you make a point about their football club they go to you fat cunt all the time like Ben look at him he's like the opposite of that he's not a fat do you know what it is I'm not fat he's like lock stock when he's like yeah you look like you should be fat but you're not yeah yeah nah we're saying I look like I should be fat yeah yeah yeah Yeah, absolutely.

57:42You should be fat, but you're not. And it rattles people. Hmark23 says, what's your favourite away day you've had with Ricky?

57:55Probably Prague away. I'm just going to say a couple of things. Pills. And strippers. It's a good away day. What more do you need? there is this kind of weird like when you not to expose anyone but like when you're when you do spurs away in europe it's sort of like carte blanche everyone's going to shag prostitutes like it's is it yeah it's just people talk openly about gang brass in later but at home you'd never talk like that done any brasses lads this one wasn't there wasn't there the thing about england in the euros and germany a couple of years ago where they were running out of like sex workers.

58:41They sort of ran out of brasses. They were all knackered. Yeah. They were like, we need to ship some more in. For the Englishmen. Literally. Amazing. She's rested this week. Yeah, managing her minutes.

59:02Gary Spurs, A-E, says, if Omar Mamouche makes his Tottenham debut on Saturday, he will be given the legacy number 9-11 who in Tottenham's history is the most 9-11 player. I'm going for Kolo Mawani. Absolute disaster of epic proportions. It is Mawani. I think it's got to be Mawani. It's mental. We were so excited. Me and you in particular. I was like, what's I need? What's I need? This changes everything. There's probably been worse players, but like in the context that couldn't have gotten any worse well the biggest disaster is Ndombele because of Ndombele and Lo Celso because of what it did to the hierarchy of this club thinking what happens if you ever spend more than you know 11 million quid on someone yeah it put them off for life yeah probably Mawani I've just still got when he came out and did that interview when he was going to sign him again for Juve where he was like oh you know I spent the whole of last season just thinking, I wish I could go back there.

1:00:04I was like, is that what you were thinking at Chelsea away at the end of the season when you just passed the ball straight to Cole Palmer? Yeah. And we went 2-0 down. I was like, you fucking cunt. I was like, I don't think I've had that level of hatred for a player in a long time. Like a long time I hated him. Yeah, fair enough. On Gakpo quickly, I just saw that Tottenham tears put out a thing saying Spurs are one of the other attackers we might go for as an alternative is Njai. at Everton. I'd love that. Yeah. I don't know the validity of the source, but Tottenham T is... They're trying to get greelish, aren't they, Everton?

1:00:40So, maybe. Illiman and Jai is amongst the options for Tottenham to bolster their attack. Richardson could go the other way and join Everton. Discussions between Illiman and Jai and Man City are also continuing and progressing positively. That is exciting. Enjoy. As Erby said, I didn't expect to transfer a window like we have done. I think we can do one more player in one specific position. Yesterday, we went to dinner with the owners, Johan and Vinay. Brilliant. It's so much fun though, isn't it, this bit? When you're signing players like this, it is fun, regardless of, oh, he doesn't hit the profile.

1:01:16Fucking enjoy your life. Yeah. Because what happens with that is that I've done it in the past as well. Yes, you have. That was you. I said that for a reason. You spend like, it's like with Gakpo. I'm not massively convinced about it. I'm take it or leave it on Gakpo. I see the strengths I see the weaknesses if we don't sign him I'm nonplussed if we sign him that's fine I can see the value in it but people will have a whole summer of going no no no and then when he's pitching the Spurs shirt the tweet will be like you know now he's here let's get behind him good to see him play great to see him play yeah that's you I didn't yeah but on Gakpo I like Gakpo I just don't know if he's I'll tell you a secret I think I prefer Njai yeah yeah yeah the only thing is with Gakpo is that he does if you look at his numbers for Liverpool like you would bite your hand off for someone that gave up that could give us what he gave Liverpool last season also I think there's a bit of and this is one thing I did say when I was criticizing him like when you take Trent out of that Liverpool team last season and you've got Mo Salah that like just fell off a cliff Gakpo is a player that needs other players around him to facilitate him.

1:02:28He's not going to win you. He can win you a game on his own with like a shot from outside the box or whatever, but he's not always going to impact the game. So taking Trent out of that team to put those crosses in where he comes in at the back post because he's very good at attacking the box, that was massive. And they were just shit last season in Liverpool. Whereas a couple of years before that, I was looking at him thinking, well, if you're going to win the Premier League, you need a player like that that's just going to get you kind of... And it was 10, 15 goals like that, just cutting in or getting in the box site yeah and a season under you know the first season under slot i think it's pretty much common that you know not a huge amount was changed yeah and then obviously the second season under a slot a different system um it didn't work that way the reason why i might prefer in dry is that you know he really can beat a man and if we've really got that that that talent of actually getting past someone with trickery a bit pace directness yeah we'd have that in three or four specific players in which means options around that is probably a little bit better yeah he can play across any of the front three i've got felonious's voice in my head saying he's a match of the day player every time there's uh i think about like someone i haven't watched a huge amount but i always really like i always worry that there might be a match of the day player that happened with njai last season like he started really well when like everton were flying a little bit and greelich went in there and then i don't think he scored a goal for like six months after that.

1:03:55But he is, I think with Njaya, why people are more excited about it is that, comparing to Gakpo, it's a bit like the Savio thing as well. He is a Tottenham player. Like, we want players, like, everyone wants players like that. But with Tottenham, we've always had, like, wingers that would just take their man on and do something exciting. And I think that's why we are, we are excited about Savio. And Njaya, I think, fits the mould of what a Tottenham player is. Like, there's something unquantifiably, unquantifiably Tottenham about him. And he does score goals as well to be fair. Either of them, I'll be alright with that.

1:04:30No responsibility says, not a question, but every time Alex Bristol is on the pod, I do think, does this little bald man from Bristol really think he could score a goal in the Premier League? Yes. That's the answer to that. With the right, with weeks of training. No, actually, that's not true. Not for the Premier League. If it was, and maybe not now actually, but peak Pep Man City where it was I think I could get a tap in for Man City with my with my reading of the game I don't even think you would touch with your reading of the game I wouldn't have to touch it no I don't I don't think you would get you said you'd score eight goals right I don't think you would get eight touches in a Premier League season you would not be able to get anywhere near the ball well no agree to disagree but I it's not no it's it's it's objectively correct.

1:05:22My argument always was for that Man City team that played 90 minutes constantly I would get a tap in. You wouldn't have the fitness just to stay on side. Of course I would. That was part of the argument originally. Give me a pre-season. Give me a pre-season. Give me a pre-season. You're 38. You're going to be 40 this year. I know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But this was, the question was originally asked, you know. There are games in the Premier League where Haaland might touch it five times. Haaland. Yeah, yeah, but that's because, you know, that's just, he's... You're on the wind-up. You've always been on the wind-up.

1:05:56You don't actually believe this. You can't. What do you think is more likely? You are a fucking psycho. I think all men secretly think give me a couple months. You should see the delusion. We're wearing sports teams, like jerseys, just in case. You should see the delusion. There was a kid who did this tweet. He said, how many goals would you score? And in the comments, it was like, no, I'm ready to get nine. Yeah, play me as a false nine. I'll get nine. What are you fucking on about but that's not what i've said what i'm saying is don't tell me that if they're in a stadium and there was an announcement that went out and went uh ladies and gentlemen there's been a you know it's something i'm not maybe not something terrible's happened but something someone is one of you is needed like on the bench terrible can you genuinely if you put put your hands up right if you genuinely genuinely think that you could probably got enough enough about you about football where you might be of some use.

1:06:46I guarantee you at least 80 % of the men in that thing might go, yeah, go on then. And I genuinely believe that men... Yeah, and they would all be shit, all of them. Well... What do you think is more likely? Me, Alex, to score eight goals for Prime Pet Man City over the course of a season? Or me and John Bass up front for Prime Stoke to get 10 goals between us? I think that's harder. You wouldn't... Because you wouldn't need that launching throw-ins. If you've got the aerial ability, you're having to get off the ground. You're six foot nine. Yeah, but that's what I'm saying, Alex, right? You would be in the game.

1:07:22Could you imagine how much the crowd would turn on you? Like, you're not fit to wear. Sure. Within about 20 minutes, I would say within about eight minutes, if the ball came to you, you'd be completely exposed, right? And then you've got to play another 38 games, and the crowd you'll think the crowd are not going to react what's he doing on the pitch get him off they're worse away from home as well but this wasn't this wasn't any this wasn't any part of the question this was about being able to read the game and read about when there might be an opportunity for a tap your interpretation of the question that's what that is that was the question next Alex is going to add another parameter where it's like well no it was actually COVID where there was no people in the stadium so I wouldn't actually feel the pressure it's just like playing in front of the stadium people's opinion doesn't fuss me alright boys we're coming towards the end of the podcast but we still have time for

1:08:20I didn't realise we did this on a Thursday as well do it whenever I remember today we're doing to celebrate the signing of Omar Mamouche the world's hardest Omar Mamouche quiz and it's John and Alex versus the audience John's not here so that'd be difficult I was like, yeah. It's Ben and Alex versus the audience. And we're going to start with this one. Mad quiz. What a bugger is a mad quiz. Which Egyptian club did Omar Mamouch begin his professional career with? Was it A, Al Ali? Was it B, Zamelech? Was it D, C, Awadiyah Delgalla? Or D, Pyramids FC? Pyramids FC.

1:09:05No idea. Al Ali. Actually, are they even Egyptian? No, they're not. They're Saudi, aren't they? Option B, please, Bob. The answer is Wadi Degala. Good saying. Which German club did Marmoush join after leaving Egypt in 2017? Was it Wolfsburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, or St. Pauli? Wolfsburg. Yes. It's Wolfsburg. It's correct. didn't he Wolfsburg he played with Van de Venne at Wolfsburg didn't he yeah he did yeah it's very loud this music turn it down a little bit like that well now you should take it at all now

1:09:54which two clubs did Mamouche play for while on loan at Wolfsburg was it St. Pauli and Stuttgart Hamburg and Mainz Schalke and Augsburg and Werder Bremen and Freiburg. St. Pauli and Stuttgart. Yeah. It's a correct answer. Well done. That one you've got. No, two. No, two. All right, fine. Get him into it. Such a banger. How did Eintracht Frankfurt sign Mamouche from Wolfsburg in 2023? How much was it? How did it happen? Was it approximately 20 million bill? Was it a season-long loan? a player swap deal or was it a free transfer? Can you say that question again? Because that was absolutely different.

1:10:40How did Eintracht Frankfurt sign Marmouche from Wolfsburg in 2023? Is it 20 million euros, a season-long loan in a player swap deal or was it a free transfer? I think it was... I think they paid for him. Or maybe not. Maybe they loaned him. 20 million. They loaned him and then bought him. D, free transfer according to this. Doesn't feel right, does it? Honestly, that question was like, what happened? What happened here? It was essentially... I don't know. Against which country did Mamouche score on his senior Egyptian debut in 2021? Senegal, Libya, Morocco, Ghana. Morocco. Yeah, Libya. Which club did Mamouche leave to join Man City in January 2025?

1:11:28Frankfurt. Frankfurt. Frankfurt. All right, that's it. We're not doing another one again. I will say out of the ones I've done that was the worst one it's down worst it was terrible yeah what is Flapsky which how did this happen what happened here the second there's such a so it was so awkwardly phrased that question that um yeah don't blame me I must say in the comments and stuff like that the quiz it does split people doesn't it the quiz yeah it does I mean I I like a quiz yeah when we used to do Bardi's Brain Busters back in the day it was genuinely the highlight of most of our weeks because it would get proper competitive.

1:12:05All of us stood around that mic in Ball Street just quite angry with each other because someone has managed to get that answer. I just enjoy it. Bardi's Brain Busters. I think that's the beauty of being recording in person, isn't it? Yeah. Do you remember the time when we brought a lie detector that electrocutes you if you get things wrong? Yeah, I've got some brilliant videos of that day. It was, yeah, Bardi, it didn't go well for Bardi, let's put it that way. Right, cheers boys, speak to you. Cheers. At the Spurs.
