In short
GaryVee’s TikTok “Tea” live show focused on going live early, saying no to protect time and health, insecurity and self-love, why he centers kindness, and how live shopping on TikTok can create income. He also discusses 9/11 personal memories, humility vs significance, and building fanbases for alternative sports via “superheroes.”
Guests
No named guests appear as interviewees; the “guests” are live chat participants and recurring on-screen helpers (e.g., Sammy, Norea, Raghav, Trey, Christine, AJ, Mona/wife mentioned). No formal guest bios are provided.
Key claims
Insecurity is the “great pandemic” driving harm; therapy (and free therapeutic content) helps. Kindness should be made “cool.” Sleep is crucial. TikTok FYP enables massive new attention. Live shopping/affiliate via TikTok Shop is a major opportunity (including for non-influencers). Alternative sports need superhero-like figures and strong media distribution.
Notable examples
45 days alcohol-free then wine relapse; 9/11: Wine Library clients tied to Cantor Fitzgerald, cousin Bobby delayed by kidney stones, friend Brandon calling from a flight as the first tower fell; Annalie Waters as a “superhero” pickleball example; sticker packs pinned in TikTok Shop during the stream; giveaway of a “Steph Curry Gary Vee box.”

Automatic transcript. May contain errors.0:00This is the Gary Vee Audio Experience. Morning, morning, morning everyone on TikTok. Good morning. I don't know whose fucking idea this was, but now I remember it was mine. Somebody said something like, oh, there's a lot more viewers in the morning on TikTok. So, here I am. And I've been getting all this great sleep and rest and been eating well and no alcohol and all this stuff. And then the first time I break in 45 days was last night. So I don't know. I've completely misplayed this on all levels. But you've got to persevere through the adversity of wine coming out of your pores at 6 in the morning.
0:49And it's great to see everybody. Sahil, good to see you. We've got questions, I assume. Right? Yep. I mean, Sammy, you're up early, huh? yeah I could have missed this I mean is it 4am for you yeah I'm impressed what time is it for you right now and where are you from everybody on TikTok please make sure you follow top left corner join the fan club bottom right corner good to see all of you ask your questions reality bites thank you so much that's so kind ask your questions and And if you just joined from your FYP, welcome to the kindest, warmest, nicest, but most accountable place on the internet.
1:35And then all of you friends on Instagram Live, please go to garyvee.com slash tea. Join us on Tea with Gary V. Get on the show. You get your questions asked if you get on over there. It's my TikTok. So you can just go to Gary V on TikTok. All right, everybody. 2 p.m. in Uganda. Big shout out to Uganda. All right. Who's got the questions? G, let's start with what's something you've gotten better at saying no to? Did everybody hear him? Yep, did that come across nicely? Did everybody hear that question nicely? Very nice, good Christine, thank you. Not much. No question. The thing that I'm now contemplating quite a bit in my mind is
2:25how do I get better at saying no? So much of my career was built on yes. You know, and the serendipity and realizing, yeah, yeah, I said yes to a bunch of stuff that was all quote unquote not as valuable to me, didn't lead to anything, extracted value, but one random yes here and there turned into something so lucrative, so joyful, that it offset all the others. I, as a lot of you know, believe that we have way more time than people realize. Right? I think people are absolutely ridiculous when they talk about, I've run out of time, or I missed it, or I fucked up, and then they're 27, or 32, or 36.
3:18my relationship with time and my humility with my time as it got more valuable I believe was a strength I do believe I'm entering an era where I've got to be smarter with my time allocation more allocation to family more allocation to leisure more allocation to the things that bring me joy more allocation to more strategic use of my time to build VFriends, to build VaynerX, VaynerSports, my personal brand. So a little bit less charitable energy around my time. Just a whole lot of saying yeses to a whole lot of things that make my soul happy that I'm that person. But I feel like I've got to find a little bit more of a balance.
4:12So I've probably started saying no to church or every business meetings, you know, tier three business meetings that. But I feel like I've always been pretty good at that, but I've leveled up that. But the random like intern walking by me in the office and being like, I get 15 minutes of your time. I just am struggling to say no to that. I really do struggle with that. and there's a part of me just as I sit here that like fully knows I should be saying no to all of that and there's a part of me that equally believes that I should never stop saying yes to that.
4:51You know, that's just who I am. So, and then that's fine because at least that's like an employee but then it's like the random DM and like can I get 10 minutes and I like screenshot and hit my admins and be like, give Sally Pants 49 10 minutes in the next couple weeks. And they're like, motherfucker, we can't get your biggest client meetings into the calendar next 60 days. Where the fuck do you think we're gonna find 10 minutes for Sally Pants 49 from Uganda? But I say yes to those things too. So anyway, thank you for joining us. Welcome to the morning show that everybody loves on earth. All 8.3 billion people love this show.
5:35Narae, I don't know if you know that. 8.3 billion people on earth love this show. They just haven't all discovered it yet. But they will love it. Bottom right corner, everybody, join the fan club. I want to see the hearts popping up all the time. Cor, what else should these, what is TikTok updated? The repost, where is that? If you press the share button, in the bottom right corner of the stream, there's a yellow repost button. Everybody, if I don't get a repost from all of you, I'm going to be very upset. Bottom right corner, little arrow, click that. Bloop. It pops up and hit that little repost yellow button right now.
6:09Hit that little repost button right now. Let's do it. Okay. Next one. Yeah. Hey, Sammy. You know, like the early risers right now, they might be working out as they're walking this, but you've been kind of talking about like your health and fitness lately. Yes. And kind of wanted you to see like that's part of your balance of like how you're seeing life lately. Yeah. I mean, I've, uh, of course, I mean, you know, there's that one of my favorite clips of my social media content of my life was when that kid at Superbowl, as I'm walking, asks me like, what does health and fitness like have to do with business or, or something like that?
6:51Remember? And I'm like, well, if you're dead, you're out of business, you know? And so of course, yeah, I've had a very good summer. Not what's saying last night was first day off the wagon after 40 days of crushing um and just ate way too many carbs pasta motherfucking pasta slipped in last night and i saw an old friend i haven't seen in like 15 years who's like such a wine head and made me drink wine so um yeah i mean i'm it's a very big part of my life you know i've taken my health so seriously for so long um now and just a part of my life i still hate it like like going to the gym is still a real you know challenge um eating well it doesn't come natural but i've i've had a very good run this year and i'm gonna keep it up and i have very strong clarity into how i need to use fruit to subsidize like the candy and the cakes and the things that i want and what my protein and um you know carb ratio needs to be and like what calories you know i'm counting roughly in my head that I want to hit for the day.
7:58And then on top of all that, Mona, my wife, is like so insane about clean eating. So it's not just calories. It's like chemicals, right? It's chemicals over calories. It's, you know, just making sure I'm doing that well. And so, yeah, I'm enjoying it. And I think everyone here should always be inspired to, you know, be a little bit better no matter what because it benefits. Your body is your body. It's like, you know, doing the right things is always the right thing. And like for your soul, being a good human being and, you know, business, putting in the work and being creative and patient and in health and wellness.
8:34Like the data is pretty clear about like sleep and exercise and what you put in your body. And, you know, I'm trying to do well. A lot of people ask me about my 9-11 story. Obviously, today's the 25th anniversary of 9-11, which is crazy because I'm 50. So it's like literally the halfway point of my life. and so it was a crazy day for me obviously I was in New Jersey in fact I was supposed to be at the World Trade Center three days later I think it was the 14th pretty early in the morning for a big wine tasting so that's always shook me about that day it's like man three days later like who knows my timing would have been very close I would have definitely been like either parking downtown in the building it was really scary stuff it was really rough because that's what I was first building Wine Library and we had a lot of clients at Cantor Fitzgerald which was a big financial firm a lot of the Wall Street guys were the first people buying online and having email and doing email buying and the biggest thing I remember from 9-11 besides the fact that my cousin Bobby and my best friend Brandon were in the air from France to America and back then they were supposed to be home from a wine buying trip on September 9th.
9:52But my cousin Bobby got kidney stones at the airport and had to be rushed to the hospital and they got stuck in Europe. And then they were trying to get home, trying to get home. And Brandon called me at 9.30 in the morning of 9.11. The first tower had collapsed and called me from the flight. I don't know if, oh geez, remind the kids now. There used to be phones in airplanes. And Brandon grabbed it and swiped the credit card and called me and said, good news, we're coming home. And I said, I don't think so. And he's like, what do you mean? And his story is crazier than mine because we hang up and he hits the thing and the stewardess comes and he's like, are we landing in New York?
10:31And she's like, yeah, like why? And then like she leaves and then like one minute later, like three stewards ran down the aisle to him and were like, yo, why'd you know that? Like interrogate, it was crazy. Anyway, it was a very horrific day, especially for us here that are like, in the tri-state area or close to New York, like, it was rough. It was really, really rough. It was really, really rough. I drove, when the second tower collapsed, I sent a bunch of people from Wine Library home. I drove to my parents because my dad hadn't even come to the store yet. We hung there for a couple hours. It was a really rough day.
11:07AJ came out of school. It was really rough. It really was really rough. And I'm very, you know, I think, I'm fascinated and care a lot about human behavior. I'm very aware, like, if you didn't live here, you know, if you lived in America, it affected you more than if you lived in Argentina or Spain. And then if you lived in, like, New York City, it affected you differently than if you lived in Kansas or Tampa Bay or Wisconsin. It was, my uncle worked, Bobby, Bobby Shiffrin's dad, Misha, who was a big part of my life, really a very big father figure for me in the first 15 years of my life when my dad was working so much.
11:46He worked in the World Trade Center his whole career. So it just really hit close to home. It was really tough. All right, let's move it on. This is from the chat. Charles Dean asks, hey Gary, do you look at the stars and think about how small and little humanity actually is? Absolutely not. I don't look at the stars. I don't give a fuck about space. I do not, I don't need to look at the stars or space and understand the fucking Milky Way galaxy to understand our smallness.
12:24I am incredibly well-parented and have understood the power of humility my whole life. I did not need Orion, you know, the constellation in the sky to make me feel small. I feel very in tune to what it is, which is we are here for a period of time. And that is a miracle. You know, I'm so grateful that I get to hang out with all of you guys. Norea and Sammy and Raghav and Train, Michael. like, of course you quote, I'm kidding. And, you know, just, it's just so finite. It's so small, you know? It's so small. And so, no, I don't need space to tell me how small or little or insignificant, quote unquote, we are.
13:23And on the flip side, I think we're like, I think like I'm the most significant human that's ever lived. You know, like I have that like incredible, you know conviction obviously that's tongue in cheek I keep forgetting on TikTok you get a lot of random people from the FYP and maybe they don't know my sense of humor I do not I do not think I'm the most significant human that ever lived but I will say I strive to be I strive to be I strive to create incredible things I strive to bring a lot of value to strangers at a scale that most people don't live it. And I try to be an all-time great entrepreneur and nice person and that feels pretty good.
14:11But yes, I know our significance in the scheme of things. Oh, all right everybody. Welcome to Tea with Gary V. Love hanging out with all 900 of you. I need reposts. Bottom right corner, click the arrow. Bloop! A little pop-up comes. Hit the little share, the yellow on the second row. Hit the repost button. Also, join the fan club. Oh, and this is a big one. If you just join me and you're having fun, top left corner, hit my face, and make sure you hit the two bottom left buttons, right? That's follow and notify, right? Follow and notify. Let me know if you just joined the bell club. That's the bell, right?
14:51That's the notified. Everybody, top left corner, click my face. Bloop! It pops up on the bottom left there. You'll see follow, but more importantly, notify. Notify. You can hit that little bell. Let me know if you belled me the fuck up. Let me know if you belled me the fuck up at 721 in the morning. Welcome to Tea with Gary Vee. Ask your questions in here. Excuse me. The team might ask it. Go ahead. Gary, kind of going back to what you were saying, someone wrote on your comments on Instagram in your post this week that they're struggling with feeling insignificant. Yes. So you're talking about yourself.
15:30What would you tell someone who might feel kind of overwhelmed by the thought that we're insignificant, but also how you feel significant? I think his name was Jake. Very nice. Jake, you know, self-esteem issues are real for so many. You know? Like, it's just a real thing. I don't think Jake's having some introspection crisis of like, where does the human race sit in the world of like, you know, the Milky Way galaxy and all the other galaxies in the world. I think he's probably in my comments just talking about insecurity. Insecurity is the great pandemic of our lifetime. Right? Like this is, like I'm far more worried about insecurity than I am about COVID or the COVID vaccine.
16:15Like they're not even close. Insecurity is killing billions. There is no disease on earth that is even close to a problem the way that insecurity is. Insecurity leads to war. Insecurity leads to murder. Insecurity leads to all the horrific things in our society. I do not think people understand the importance of self-love, the importance of therapy, the importance of randomly showing up at 7.23 in the morning Eastern time on a FYP on TikTok and showing up here and finding fellow people that are kind and nice and we're gonna talk about good shit and building your life and happiness and joy and opportunity and optimism and practicality and accountability and no more fucking excuses and the power to fucking forgive people who have fucked you up and where's the business opportunity of flipping shit that's in your basement to make 100 bucks a week while also forgiving your mother who fucked you up.
17:15Like, we're talking about real shit here. insecurity is the great issue of our world. I'm so grateful for my mother who created a framework and gave me her DNA, which allowed me to live a life of confidence, real confidence, pure confidence. It's grounded in humility, not peacocking. It's grounded in love, not hate. It's grounded in building and curiosity, not tearing down an envy. And so I'm just, you know, Sammy, I don't like there's so many ways. How do you fix it? therapy. Guys, therapy's real. And by the way, I know that people can't afford it. So not everyone's going to be able to go there.
17:55They have to consume content that's free on the internet, that's therapeutic. But you motherfuckers that buy another shiny toy, like an expensive watch or a burka bag or another home to disguise your insecurity, you need to stop buying dumb shit and you need to deploy that cash against therapy. not fucking a cold plunge therapy
18:22nothing against cold plunging I'm sure it's wonderful yeah I actually want a cold plunge right now bad even though I actually don't it's cold alright G we had a question from the chat love this one why does your content center so much around being kind why is that such a big theme of yours real quick I just want to address motor city car guy nepo kid says what motor city brother please do the homework if you're saying I'm nepo on mentality on like mindset then respect I accept it but if you're using it as the way it's used like do your motherfucking homework bitch what was that brother? why does someone ask in the chat why does so much of your content center on kindness why is that such a big theme I just I don't read books pain enthusiast I see your question I read a lot but it's micro reading I don't tend to read books I don't know I just my bigger question is why wouldn't it be I think we've completely lost the plot like we've lost putting civility and class and how we interact with each other and kindness, we've lost that.
19:49And we don't put that on a pedestal anymore. No one's like, oh, I want to be like Ricky Thompson. He's the nicest. Everyone's a fucking materialistic fucking psycho now. Raghav, you understand? Oh, I didn't give you daps, right? Because you're also early, right? Raghav? Yeah, 5. 5.30, 5.46. Respect. You know, I think we've completely and utterly lost the plot on, you know, and listen, I'm a big time capitalist and believe in like, you know, I'm like the poster boy of entrepreneurship. But I love entrepreneurship for the game and the creativity and the challenge not to buy a Porsche. I think we've become incredibly materialistic and
20:42I want to make kindness cool because then I think people will aspire to it which means they'll act on it and so that's why kindness is such a big part of my content alright let's keep it going I have one kind of about parenting so I heard this quote once that was when there is uncertainty there is more room for possibility One more time You've heard what? One more time When there's uncertainty There's more room for possibility I agree with that So how can parents raise kids To fail confidently Even if parents themselves Are afraid of this uncertainty Well I think everything starts with you If you're a parent That is scared Your child will be scared Humans are animals y 'all Like if you're scared but you're trying to trick your kid and like be an actor and make pretend you're not scared, they're gonna see right through you.
21:43You might trick them when they're fucking four. But when they're 14, they're like, wait a minute. And when they're 24, they're like, motherfucker. You're like, so like, what are you accomplishing? You know?
22:00So, you know, I think it starts with you, which is like, what are you scared of? Like real talk, everybody. All 1 ,000 of you are in TikTok and all 700 of you on Instagram. What are you scared of? Y 'all, what are you scared of? Like, what are we fucking scared of? Like, what are you scared of? And the answer, if people are not virtue signaling in the chat, is they're scared of judgment. Right? Like, real talk, they're scared of judgment. Like, they can put what they're putting in, the future, failing, the unknown, you know we're scared of embarrassment you know like losing money but like again all of it is like if you're scared of losing money because you're scared of like having to sell your home and renting an apartment renting an apartment's awesome it's fine like love is in the house not in the size of it right and so what you're really scared of is you don't want your neighbors to make fun of you for like you being like oh you're moving out of the neighborhood because your husband lost his job or you lost your job or you guys invested in something that went awry.
23:12Like, oh, I feel bad for you. Why? Why do you feel bad for me? Like, do you understand? Like, it's those things. Like, we are scared of judgment. We are scared of judgment, y 'all.
23:29And what's crazy is you never really find out what the actual judgment was because the truth comes out when you're dead. That's when shit gets, that's when people really talk about you like the truth, like honestly. And like, I don't know, man. I just like, living your life based on other people's opinions is the fastest path to depression. And I just, I wish on all of you so many things. Health first and foremost. But after that, The capacity to tune out the world.
24:08Everybody, real quick, hard pivot. Since I've got a thousand of you in the room, you must find out what TikTok affiliate is and you must start doing live shopping. The biggest opportunity in business right now, side hustle. Who here in the chat would like to make an extra$50 a week? That would be meaningful. Have the humility to say it. He's up. where in this space do you feel like there's a certain category specifically that you'd want to highlight for folks or like is it just general live shopping is there anything that's caught your attention in 2026 that anything that you'd want to bring to the floor I think it's general live shopping right now I think collectibles are crushing I think apparel is crushing I think beauty is crushing I think food is gaining momentum.
26:02I think everything will eventually be sold at scale in live shopping. In 10 years, let me just make a nice clip. Hold on, team, real quick. Give me a little bit of better lighting. Let me look into the light so it looks good because I'm going to clip this in 13 years. Thank you, Trey. I'm going to clip this. Trey's pointing to where the camera is. Thank you. No, no, I got it. Thank you, Trey. I'm going to clip this in 13 years because a lot of people don't believe what I'm going to say right now is true. Friends, in 13 years, the amount of people that are going to be selling homes and six-figure automobiles on live shopping will blow your mind.
26:43Friends, 13 years from now, right? 2039, the amount of people selling homes and six-figure automobiles will blow your mind. They'll literally be on live shopping they'll be standing by a car and actually do we have anything to sell here right now? I do, yeah. Can you pin something to the bottom? Like what do you think? What do you got like a nice$20 item? Yes. What do you got? Do the mini sticker packs? Sure, 10 bucks. Beautiful. Put a little mini sticker pack. Like even right now I'm using TikTok right now for Tea with Gary Vee but I do have the shop enablement on my profile right now and I'm going to literally pin right now.
27:24It's pinned? Like TikTok friends, look. Right down there, you could buy a pack of stickers from my V friends. That's my Pokemon Marvel world. That's what all these things are in the office. Like, it's real. It's very real. Who's gonna buy one? I want somebody to buy one so I can shout them out. It'll show up on my screen on the right there. Hey everybody, hope you're enjoying the podcast right now. Make sure you follow the podcast. That's why I'm interrupting. Let's keep going on this show, but follow the podcast. It'll make my mom super happy. Oh, there we go. Nice, very nice. Great. All right, we'll see.
27:57great when you get one. Somebody pick one up so I can give you some love. Does everybody see it in the cart? And there we go. And there we go. Crazy Daisy, Reese, Justin, thank you so much, everybody. Thank you. I hope you get a huge sticker in there. Bee Juice, thank you for picking up a pack. It means the world to me. I think I missed one. Bee Juice, oh, Donna, Rachel, thank you so much. Dora, thank you so much. Reese, go to the top. was pull play love of the light lover of the light crazy daisy justin781 thank you Reese thank you Bee Juice thank you Dora thank you Maribel I love you an all time great VaynerX everybody check out Maribel Lara amazing marketer worked here for a long time doing great content Rachel Peters thank you pull and play thank you Christine thank you Brian Connelly thank you I mean like there it is like people like it's happening you know like so anyway I hope people just learned from that I hope people just learned from that like you too like does anybody here sell anything like what if you sold bird clocks like you could put that in your TikTok shop you could sit here go live and just talk about birds and bird clocks and it's pinned to the bottom and people are buying it watch this I'm sorry to interrupt but don't forget that how many of you just showed up here and have never followed here's a crazy question how many people that are watching right now randomly showed up on the FYP have never watched me live before and don't even know who I am have never seen my content this is the first time you're ever seeing me ever put first this is the first time you've ever seen me you have no idea who the hell I am you like literally don't know who I am say first in the chat not me look at this I have fucking 50 million followers I've put out 43 trillion pieces of content I have a trillion, gajillion, mazillion views.
29:55Look how many people, and I'm so glad people are saying no way. For other people who've been seeing me for 20 years or can't get away from me, they can't comprehend what they just saw. And that's the power of TikTok FYP. The one platform where you can get unbelievable amounts of new attention. and new, look, people are like, look, people are like, can't believe it. Like, people are stunned. Like, I'm gonna go to the airport tomorrow to Nashville, Tennessee for my New York Jets to beat the shit out of the Titans this weekend. And 39 people will ask for selfies in the airport. You know a train? And yet, look what you just saw.
30:37You know how profound that is? A, that's the point I'm always trying to make, which is we're all small. And B, it shows the power of why I want everybody here to do the same thing I'm doing right now, which is to go on TikTok and start building your future. Back to people who are hanging with me for the first time. Who's having a blast? Who's enjoying the shit out of this? Who's feeling better? Who's feeling more hopeful? Who's feeling more optimistic? Who's feeling like they have some ideas of how they can grow? This is what I'm about. Offense. Good shit. Fuck all the hate. more ideas? You got it, Amanda Blondie.
31:18I'm going to give you more ideas. Alright, let's go. You might have already answered her question, but maybe a little bit more specific towards Katie. She asks, I'm a stay-at-home mom who's extremely bored. What platform should I make a little extra money on? Now, convince me why your answer is TikTok shop and that I should invest the time to learn the ins and outs. What's her name? Katie. Katie, I'm not convincing you of shit.
Read the full transcript
31:48I'm not here to convince fucking people, Katie.
31:54I have no interest in convincing anyone about anything about anything. Katie, you think I give a fuck if you do TikTok shop?
32:07I do, actually, which is weird. I hate it. I hate that I do. I hate that I do. God damn it. I do, Katie. I don't even, I'm already mad at you because you're bored. But fuck, I'm so mad I do care. I dare, I care, I care. Fuck. I want it to be tough. Katie, I don't know. I'm not going to convince you because I get far greater joy of people not doing the things I tell them to do and then having them have to admit to my face that I was right and they fucked up. And Katie, if that didn't convince you, I don't know what the fuck will. Gary, something that was interesting is like, there was another question in the comments about another stay-at-home mom who was like thinking, how could she do it?
32:55And she didn't look bored. It's more like, I'm here. She was the reverse, right? She's like, fuck. Yeah, because kids come in all shapes and sizes. When they're six months, when you have a six-month-old and a two-year-old, your time is, that's hard. Especially if you have no help. you have a nine year old and a seven year old that go to school and you have a full time nanny you got fucking time so you know stay at home comes in all shapes and sizes we all are going through our human journeys
33:27look it's kind of like what's happening here this morning I am very focused in 2027 and the back half of 26 to build my personal brand you guys know this our team is getting better and better we've had a great year thank you team I feel like we have a much better year yet Raghav and Nereya who are on Zoom that's who I'm looking at right here there's a little computer here everyone team's here there they are as you guys know I even put the thumb down on who we need to be this week on the producer stuff we're getting better
34:00I'm busy I've got a lot going on did I really need to wake up at 6.15 this morning and do this 7am tea with Gary Vee show I didn't really have to I think we could all agree like this was not a necessity in the bingo card of my life. But I'm very, you like that one, Trayvon? That's funny. But I want to learn about what I've been hearing about TikTok FYP and TikTok Live being very lucrative earlier in the morning. Right? And I think we're seeing it. Like 1280, we're building nicely right now. People are going crazy for the Mel Robbins podcast. I really did bring my A game and Mel's got a huge show and she's great and how many people caught the Mel Rodman's podcast?
34:44Let me know. You know and so my advice Norea is what I'm doing right now. Either you're doing it or you're not doing it. Stay at home mom or stay at home parent that is very busy there's still nine minutes somewhere and that's nine minutes you can make a piece of affiliate content. Stay at home mom bored six hours all day Either you're just bullshitting and doom scrolling and watching Netflix and half-ass working out for two hours or you're on stream and making content and building your future because you're destined to be the Alex Cooper or Mel Robbins or Logan Paul or Mr. Beast of being a live shopping host, not of content creation, not of podcasting.
35:33so I wanted to do this and I did it and you guys know this you'd know this quite a bit probably court I wanted to live shopping stream a lot in August for VFriends and I didn't do it I chose family over it so we're all making choices all the time like you know there's all sorts of things and just because I chose family in August more than live streaming here in the studio for VFriends as I thought I would I'm not disappointed in myself I had these grand hopes of like 900 hours in August I got zero I don't shit on myself I'm like I chose something else which was obviously when you're choosing family it's always easy to do that Saps Robots how important is sleep for you?
36:13The most important for me personally sleep is the most important because I'm a fucking maniac when I'm awake so I need sleep heavy I'm a big 7, 8, 9 hour sleep guy but you know like this week I have a ton of fucking travel I'm traveling all week Nashville Nashville, middle of nowhere Michigan, Aspen, San Francisco. I've got a lot of like, you know, five, six hours sleep destined this week. And that's okay. I'm not going to beat up myself and be like, oh, I'm such a workaholic. I only slept five and a half hours multiple times this week. I don't understand how to beat myself up in the micro. I would argue so many of you are not living your happiest life because you beat yourself up in the micro.
37:00Yes, Corp? Do you think it's because you have a good balance of keeping yourself in the macro? Yeah, it's because I think I live in the macro. But I'm very present, as you know, as well. Yeah, I'm like, I don't know, I'm like pretty great.
37:15Oh, man. My upbringing was really great, is what the truth is. And I've been able to recognize it as a young man and build on it. Even make a better version of it, so. um cheesecake pancake says this seems suspicious tell us cheesecake what what do you what are you sniffing out here cheesecake let's go let's get some questions out of the chat keep going everyone um i don't want to talk about a topic you've been interested in lately and uh we're in exciting time it's football season's back and then there's also a new era of alternative sports that are on the rise. So alternative sports are pickleball, wiffleball, those kind of sports.
37:59Thank you. Also, looking back, it's hard to believe that Super Bowl one wasn't even sold out. Right. So like football is like this huge thing now for alternative sports. Like what's a key factor in how to build the fan base from the bottom up? The key for alternative sports, you know, hey, everybody, good morning. I'm going to talk to chat a little bit in a second. Chloe, good to see you. Donna, thanks for being here. Whisper Snapper, I wish you didn't curse a lot. I apologize, Whisper. I'm just a Jersey street rat and that's just how I grew up. It's just in my mind and I can't stop it. I hear fuck and for some reason, as fuck is going through my head, I can't stop it before it comes out.
38:43I feel like a lot of people can, but I just cannot, so I apologize. guys. The key for alternative sports was the key for the sports that are now mainstream, which is you must create superheroes. Michael Jordan's a superhero, not an athlete. Babe Ruth was a superhero, not an athlete. Muhammad Ali was a superhero, not an athlete. Mike Tyson was a superhero, a superhero. I'm talking Spider-Man, Superman, Dr. Doom, bitch. You know, like superhero Caitlin Clark superhero Wayne Gretzky superhero superhero so what we've done with Anna Lee Waters and the Fives like she's a superhero this is a young teenage girl that's the best player in the world and she's whipping 28 year old alpha male's ass at this sport that doesn't happen in any other sport we don't have any Serena Williams famously said something to the degree of like she would get destroyed by like the 50th best male tennis player in the world and i got people upset and you also see all these jerk off guys like always talk about like in junior high i'd be in the wmba and dominate like which is probably true like if they're if they were destined to be an nba all-star like like but then you have in pickleball annalee waters is literally the best player in the world so that's a superhero i couldn't even comprehend being a very passionate athletic teenage girl that's 15 right now and you find out this woman exists and like do you know how good that must feel to be like oh shit and so it's like superhero so wiffle ball and and three on three unrivaled basketball and the sailing league and the volleyball league and the and the squash league and the cricket league and the softball league and the darts league we need superheroes you need to make someone what do you think Dana White did He made ronda rousey and conor mcgregor superheroes not just athletes and then the ultimate person to ever do it was vince mcmahon He did it at the highest levels.
40:50He took a non-sport Right a theater What is called sports entertainment now and he turned hulk hogan into the actual ultimate superhero hulk hogan in 1985 was right there with Superman. Hulk Hogan was more famous than Spider-Man in 85. Real talk. OGs, let them know. Was Hulk Hogan more famous than Spider-Man in 1985? And right now, no athlete is more famous than Spider-Man. Not LeBron. Not Steph Curry. So I think it's superhero building and it's understanding distribution in media. Super Bowl I did not sell out because professional football did not get uber popular until it got on TV a lot, a lot, a lot.
41:41It was not a good sport to listen to on the radio when the radio was the primary device that people consumed content on. But baseball and boxing and horse racing was very good on radio, which is why they were the biggest sports. College football was big too on radio, so that kind of puts a little conflict to my point on the National Football League, but it is really fascinating to how basketball and football exploded during the television era. Then you had cable, so it allowed for more sports to get bigger. It allowed sports to get bigger because ESPN was 24-7. Oh, Courtney, playing a little bit with the shop.
42:18I see you pinning something, huh, Court? What do we got in the bottom of the store? Oh, I just pinned, I think I accidentally put the TCG kit down at the bottom right now. All right. I was trying to put... Something else. All right, you keep playing. Anyway, everybody that's the punchline everybody it's all about attention and how attention works and alternative sports have to win in social how many people here have seen pickleball videos on tiktok or instagram in the chat let me know how many people have seen pickleball content like in your feeds you know and so that's been one of the reasons it's done super well you know and obviously there's like a fun mix of no, too many, yes a little but you know feeds are so specific now so you can see by the answers on TikTok that pickleball is still a very small sport but meanwhile our finals on CBS like outrated tons of tennis and golf ratings and it's crazy so you know it's building that's it alright I'm gonna be in the chat everyone I'm gonna go rapid fire answering questions from the chat.
43:28Fire away in the chat. Use a bunch of question marks when you ask, please. Paul, good to see you. The real life perspective, good to see you. Gary, do you have ADHD? I don't know. I was never diagnosed. Saps, as you know, I'm 50, so us OGs, we didn't have those diagnoses, but I'm sure I got something. Like, I got something, something. Can we go to the Jets game together? No, Boozy. That's actually a place I've always been able to say no to. It's my sacred place. I've not taken my biggest client, my biggest clients at VaynerMedia have asked to go to a Jets game with me and I've told them no. I will protect my Jets situation at all costs.
44:10In fact, I haven't gone to a road game in a little while. COVID and the Jets have just been bad and I've gone to London but I haven't had a chance to go to a road game. I'm going to Tennessee this weekend to Nashville for the Jets game. I will not say a word the entire game because I don't want to even be bothered by like the other fans. I don't want to get kicked out of the stadium. I don't want a fan to recognize me and ask for a selfie. My Jets fandom is sacred. So, all right. What else do we do? I'm a PEO. It's going fast. Can you guys help me see? Can you guys help me like read the chat and see if there's anything good?
44:48Everybody on Instagram, you have to go to GaryVee.com slash T. That's why it's pinned. Come over to my TikTok if you want to ask questions. What are you scared of, Gary? Paul, I'm scared of the death of my family. The only thing I'm really scared of
45:06is the death of my family. That's really it. Austin, I don't like watches. It's not my jam, but I'm pumped for people. I know they're so passionate about it. Best business development advice. Justin be honest with who you're pitching to right you know be you know whether you make content or whether you're one on one in a coffee or on a sales call just be honest with what the strength is of it Steve I'm pumped about Geno Smith being our QB don't sleep Steve don't sleep
45:44physical AI is going very far the robots are coming y 'all and I don't think they I don't think they're playing around these robots are like fucking robots, you know. Remember that, the robot that you had a sparring match with? Yep. There was another one spotted when Westfield looked yesterday. Yeah. Oh, they're going to be everywhere. Robots are going to be everywhere.
46:10What else? Go ahead. Matthew or team, anyone? Yeah, I kind of wanted to talk about how you said that they need a superhero. Like, these sports, they need a superhero. And I kind of want to know. I apologize real quick. Fashion Pass said I only have a thousand followers. Should I still go live? Yes. Yes. You should. Go ahead. Yeah, so they need a superhero. And I feel like pickleball is an equal opportunity to sport. So how likely is it that your grandma could be the next face of Nike playing pickleball? I think your grandma has a better. if your grandma's like dominant, like to your point, a lot of people know that grandmas are like whipping ass out there on the pickleball court.
46:57Your grandma's more likely to be the face of a startup brand competing with Nike than Nike because Nike has too many traditional marketers and big shout out to Nike for making Annalie Waters their first pickleball athlete. So they're going to go for the best. Nike's position, as we all know, is like the best. so if grandma becomes the best player in the world then yes but if grandma's just viral and has a million followers on tiktok or instagram for whipping ass on the pickleball court all ages all comers i think she'll be more likely to get brand deals from you know lots of different areas as if she's a grandma, you know.
47:39And so probably more emerging,
47:46emerging brands is my intuition. Marie, I've been to Greece a whole bunch of times, nothing planned.
47:58Iconic says, what's something you would have done different in your life? That's a really interesting question because the answer is everything and nothing. You know, I don't dwell on, like the amount of times I do this is like zero. And the amount of times a lot of you motherfuckers do what I just did is all the time. I hate looking back. It is a complete waste of time. Other than to learn from, I have no interest in dwelling on mistakes of yesterday. And I am fascinated by people's infatuation, infatuation of looking backwards or their infatuation with or? The answer is and. Do you love this or this?
48:42I love them both. Right? Should I do this or that? You should do them both to build your business. Stop looking fucking backwards. Stop looking fucking backwards. It's fucking up with your neck. It's fucking up with your emotions. Stop looking fucking backwards.
49:02Period. You know? Okay? One thing a lot of people say when it comes to like pickleball or alternative sports is like do you give any weight to how the sport is played when you when you think about what's going to be popular or do you think of it more like a distribution thing? Because people talk about baseball's low attention span, all that kind of stuff. Do you think about that at all? Of course. Real quick. Nabil says, Gary, is that because you're happy with your current life? Nabil, I'm always happy with my current life at all times because I'm grateful for it. Like even when it sucks, I'm grateful for it.
49:47Does everybody understand how impossible it is to be a human being? Do you know what kind of fucking miracle it is to be a human being?
49:57Like I am blown away by how many of you just take it for granted.
50:05do you know how many pieces of sperm wish they became a person? 87 gadrillion.
50:17Like the sheer, the sheer audacity that many of you are waking up with this morning and complaining about dumb shit, like my boss is a dick. Who gives a shit, bitch? Quit.
50:38This episode is brought to you by Google Chrome. You think you know a browser, but Gemini and Chrome, that's new. It can help you with practically anything on the web, like restoring a vintage motorcycle from a 50-page restoration block, or finally break down that long article you've had open for weeks. Gemini and Chrome is here for it. Ready to make anything online make sense? There's no place like Chrome. Check responses set up required. Compatibility and availability varies 18+.
51:08my husband's an idiot punch him in the face maybe he'll wake him up
51:20like i mean i don't know like like i don't know like yes it's because i'm i'm grateful for my life at all times even when it's been at its highest challenges because i'm grateful for the opportunity. You know? After slam, obviously it's a little tongue in cheek. I'm not advocating for punching husbands. Actually, I'm okay with it. Alright, what else? Anyway, yes, Raghav, I think with pickleball and wiffleball, I think they're visually stimulating and fast. If you look at wiffleball content, like on everybody type in wiffle ball right now on TikTok or Instagram and hit search look at some of these highlights watching a wiffle ball like go twisty and turny and upside it's crazy and so yes I think a lot about you know how Paddle or bowling or darts or how do they show up on video for sure what's the pace but I'm not sold on we don't have attention spans you fall in love with a show on Netflix that you like and there's eight episodes of it, six hours later, you just watched it all.
52:34I think we have attention span issues for bad content. We don't have attention span issues. We have optionality. You know who weaponizes attention spans? People that are selling bad content. Oh, my videos are not doing well because we have attention span issues. Mr. Beast's videos are doing well what happened there? Thoughts? He's you know his videos are very meant to hook you back in correct yes let me give you a different one fucking Spider-Man the movie a quadrillion people went to go see it they did not make that movie with every 90 seconds to make sure you stayed what the fuck were we doing in those you know what I mean?
53:26You like music a good album, right? Like if somebody puts out a bomb fucking album, I assume you'll be the kind of person that might listen through the whole thing. Of course, right? Whereas if somebody puts out a whack album and the first song and you're like, this is some bullshit, you're out. And so we do not have an attention span issue. We have the era of unlimited optionality. In 1959, when you sat on the couch and your TV was fucking 10 feet in front of you and there was no remote control,
54:01and a show came on and you're like eh this isn't great but you were like man I don't want to fucking get up and fucking change the channel and if you didn't have a little you know back in the 50s the youngest kid was the remote control Sal change the channel you know and so like as we've gotten and then the remote control came and people are like we have attention span issues no we don't we have the remote control I don't like this show go to the next channel and now we have this motherfucking thing and this motherfucking thing at all times in the world you know you didn't take your TV to work back in the day you didn't like lug your fucking TV and be like let's go TV we're going to work we're going on the bus we're going in the airplane like but now you have it and it has a trillion channels and every content creator in the world so this is optionality this is survival of the fittest baseball or schmaceball or anybody, and I don't think baseball cries about this, to baseball's credit they've adjusted the sport
55:05and so either you're crying about how it is or you're spending your time to win and adjusting into how it is. One of the two. Can we give something away? who wants who wants me to give something away because I'm in the shop I like my this channel allows me to give stuff away oh quite a big iconic I believe in I believe in the blockchain quite a bit do you want to pick sure what do you got
55:43yeah get that box let's go Hobart yep

57:10Sorry. That's TikTok, not me. Sorry. That's TikTok, not me. Sorry. All right, let's answer questions. We got a bunch of people who've entered. Jay asks what's one quote song or anything you've heard or read that changed the way you see the world never get high on your own supply
57:30the 10 crack commandments by the notorious B.I.G when he said never get high on your own supply something about that really fucking hit me he was talking about like you're a drug dealer don't fucking start doing your own drugs I took it a little bit differently which was like you can have confidence in yourself you can believe you're the best but never get delusional that you're better than anyone. He said humility to me in that. Humility is the superpower. I do not think I'm special but I'm incredibly confident and I love myself. But I don't think I'm special because I'm a good businessman. I don't think I'm special because I have a lot of followers on social media.
58:15the winner is quite frankly neat quite frankly neat let's clap it up for quite frankly neat big win somebody in the chat said I'm still standing Gary I post 30 times a day and I post 30 times a day and it worked thank you you are beyond welcome AJ and Big Justice has bought a pack of talks chrome no way let's go AJ and Big Justice love you guys keep going keep building Nabil I can't I don't have a functionality here to do that. I apologize. Alright, what else? Who else has got questions? From Helen, when you left the liquor store to start something of your own, what was your vision at the time?
58:55Were you self-aware enough at the time to put your strength at the forefront and have them guide you forward? Yeah, I was 34 years old. I just spent 12 years of my life building a huge company for my dad. I had very little money. I was incredibly motivated. Can you imagine Sammy working that hard, building something that big and not having much to show for it. I had all the emotions. I fulfilled my dream of helping my parents, but I didn't have the financial money. And so I was fucking motivated like a fucking motherfucker. Imagine all that pent up energy. And you guys know me. So think about what the fuck I was like at 34.
59:34I was guns a blazing. I was like, I'm fucking gonna kill everyone. And I did. I came in and I was like, I'm gonna fucking destroy it in this marketing world. And I was very self-aware that I was a salesman, that I was a strategist, that I cared. I knew I could do it all. Gary, we started WhatNot because of you and have done 2.5 million to date. Be rad.
1:00:04Tyra, I'm sad you think that, bro. But I wish you nothing but good stuff. 33 about to be 34 to finally get my shit together Kate that's awesome Hawk Mom yeah it's like you're young you're early in it like so much of my life changed at 34 and like that's why I always tell all these kids like who's under 34 in the chat who's under 34 in the chat put your age who's under 34 in the chat put your age like I wish these people like everyone who's about to put a number in here I wish they understood like just getting started just getting started just getting started just getting started and honestly under 50 like what a like I'm 50 and like I feel like I just walked into halftime and we're making some adjustments we're like alright we're gonna go back on the field and like we're ready to do I really believe that by the way I really believe that in my soul so much time happy birthday G-Rod 46 today let's clap it up for G-Rod I'm 51 and broke and guess what you could be 52 and rich scene whispers and you're broke financially but are you broke emotionally?
1:01:14That's what I want to know. I'm 51 and broke. 51 and financially broke? No problem. Non-event. Means nothing. 51 and emotionally broke? Now let's talk. Now let's chop it up. You know? That. That. What's the industry you'd get into today? Eye content. I'm answering so many of you. Something that fit me. Things that I'm into. Fake optimism is delusion. IGH. That's delusion. Fake optimism is delusion. Don't twist the words. Optimism is optimism. Delusion is delusion. So, like, people could be delusional. I surely have no delusional feelings. I think people are I think people are incredibly cynical you know I think people are incredibly cynical wildly not accountable for their ability to change whatever the fuck they're upset about what are you all upset about yes Javar, Unk is still doing this I'm doing this to my death what are you all upset about bring it down in here comments what bothers you?
1:02:35What pisses you off? Because I just want to know like the Jets I get it Jacob
1:02:46You know like look it's so funny look at all these answers all shit that you can't control
1:02:59Inflation the fuck are you going to do about inflation? read all the look at this look at all this look at all this all fucking shit that people can't control Drake May as my quarterback on my fantasy team you can't control Drake May sucking and being exposed this year fuck the Patriots Raghav do you think you can control Drake May sucking this year no you cannot control it can I do that you know somebody said bullying worldwide beautiful answer by Abby Abby, do you believe that you can change, that you can go find everyone who's bullying people? Or can you be empathetic that bullies are actually hurting so much inside that it's showing up in their bullying?
1:03:45And can you just live your life daily, every day, by giving strangers love? I'm about to walk outside and smile directly in the face of 20 strangers as I walk to where I'm going. That's about to happen. Bro, ladies, look at what everyone's writing in these chats. Everyone's upset about shit they can't control. They're upset about other people doing stuff. You have to focus on you, y 'all.
1:04:16I wish bullying didn't exist, but I focus my energy on being the reverse of a bully. That I can control.
1:04:28People are just spending all, this is why people get tricked into politics. people fucking worried about shit that they can't control Nabel I'm upset that I can't get along with my family that's really challenging because you can't control your family members but you can control how you interact with them I just had a close family member send me a text and say I Gary V'd that person they were talking about another family member instead of fighting that person for the last 20 years they decided to just love them for their shortcomings Jules the Shepherd, good to see you. 1:05:19That's a great question. What am I unhappy with? You know, my unhappiness doesn't really linger. You know, I wish the world, I have great passion to get the world to see the truth of all the love that's out there versus over focusing on all the negative that's out there. But I wouldn't say I'm unhappy with that. I understand it. You know? My unhappiness is only reserved for things that don't matter. Jets football. Like sports. I get mad when I play sports and my team loses. I only leave unhappiness for things that don't matter and that I can't control. In real life, I'm very, very focused on what I can do about it.
